A brief guide to NFTs
"May have heard news recently about the auction house christie's announcing that an artist by the name of people sold a piece of artwork for more than sixty nine million dollars big price tag. The hurt the third highest price for living artists. Here's the thing though. This piece of artwork isn't actually a physical work of art that you would hang in your home it's all digital it's only digital. The work was sold through what is called an nfc. it is growing technology. That is being used a lot recently. You've probably heard the term. Nf teased quite a bit in the news recently. Some examples of this of the nba has a new collectible service called nba. Top shot where you basically are collecting highlights from nba games. So for example you might see a dunk. That lebron james makes in a game you can go to this site and you can bid on that highlight and quote owned the highlight and that is how the service works We've also seen some other people really get involved in it as well Kansas city chiefs quarterback pat mahomes launched his own digital art gallery using these tesla ceo elon. Musk recently sold a tweet of his as an nfc which seems absolutely bizarre but it gets to the big question for some of the listeners out there potentially what isn't nfc. We're going to try to break it down a little bit here. We have a lot more of this available on tech dot usa. Today dot com. So we're gonna try to give you a cliffs note version of this but to explain it simply as simply as you can for something as complicated as this. Nfc stands for non fungible token so the way it works is if you're looking at something that's fungible. It is something that's easily interchangeable. Think about money for example if we each have a twenty dollar bill we can exchange twenty dollar bills and the values the same and it really doesn't make a difference with an nfc or a non fungible token each of them are unique. Each of them are different. So i might have an nf t and you might have in an f. T. we can't trade them value for value for each other because the values of different because they're unique they're different in a variety of ways. So that's what makes them non fungible so basically what it is is because it's digital. It's not a physical thing you have. It is basically a piece of data that that you own something. So in the case of the bidder at christie's auction he owns a piece of artwork in the case of someone who saw a really cool james harden layup or pass. They owned that clip online on nba. Top shot And we've seen some other weird applications for this technology to But the way it works is it's all done using blockchain technology now for the listeners that are saying to themselves. okay wait blockchain. i don't know what you're talking about here. so blockchain works like this. It is basically. It's kind of like a cloud storage database and what it does is it tracks transactions of items or assets. Let's take something like bitcoin. For example which is a currency that. I'm sure you've heard of quite a bit Something that a lot of people used to buy things online. So you have. Bitcoin and bitcoin is built on blockchain. So what happens is when you have this blockchain technology it is tracking every time someone is using. Bitcoin keeps track of wind. Bitcoin is transferred from one person to the other for a purchase. And that's essentially what it's built on so if you look at all. The history of bitcoin has an open blockchain. It's essentially an open database where you can review the history of all the transactions that have been done through blockchain. Now you don't see people's names or ideas or anything like that but it has a regular tracking of where this bitcoin is going and so that's kind of entities are instead of a bitcoin. It's this and f. T. and it's the same principle where it using this blockchain technology it's tracking every time this nfc's ownership is transferred. And you have a ledger and accounting of every which way this has been sold or resold and so on and so forth. You know you obviously can do this with bitcoin and economically. Do this with stuff like a tweet or an artwork or in the case of a article. New york post. Someone did it with the sound of their own farts. Which again if someone's willing to buy that sure that's great but there you go. That's that's how far we've gotten with all this experts. I've talked to have said that. One of the big benefits to this is the security Because these blockchain's arc run by one central company or one central administrator there on peer to peer networks which means they're spread out across lots of computers. So there's really no one place these are stored and so because they're spread out. It's much harder for someone to say. Go in an altar records that are recorded on a blockchain. So that's one of the big things and there's a lot of talk to from experts that this might be the wave of the future one expert. I talked to recently had said that you know one possibility. Is there used to track land titles and deeds so for example instead of dealing with those mountains of paperwork that you have to deal with. When you're buying a house or selling a house or things like that you would do it all using this blockchain technology and it would be done on the computer. And it'd be much simpler wireless paper while signatures and that. That is a very fascinating us. Obviously we're very far away from a lot of this stuff. All the stuff right now feels very strange in new. And there's really a lot of hype around it. So that's why we're seeing weird stuff like people selling their own individual tweet as an nf t- It makes everything on the internet. Feel like it's a commodity Whether that lasts again. It's too early to say. I think you know. Obviously there's a lot of hype around this and it's definitely worth watching because you know i if this all you know goes as it seems like experts have suggested i mean this could really changed the way we do things in terms of buying and selling and dealing with all those Types of this on the internet So we'll see where all this technology

"Travis at this he described the call at between the President and Kevin Warren has lasting between fifteen to twenty minutes was a productive conversation in no way partisan both men trump and warren. Football shouldn't be partisan in. Any way. This call happened at the request of the White House in order to focus on necessary steps in order for big ten athletics particularly football to be on the field sooner rather than later Warren told the president they were exhausting every minute measure possible to play president trump promised to make testing federal resources available to enable a return of Big Ten Football Commissioner Warren now needs the big ten return to competition task force to provide him with a list of resources and thresholds necessary for return to play that he can then returned to the white, house. Okay. Listen. We're GONNA talk about trump at the top of the hour and I I think this is an absolute brilliant move by the White House. Brilliant move and it's very simple. Trump is playing politics with sports. Because what? I. Believe the administration wants you to believe is that the only reason they're not playing football is because politics right is there is this kind of conspiracy theory that covert is simply about the election. Not About People's health or their concerns. About the election and remark miraculously after November third, it'll all go away and it'll be business as usual and he just happened to only call one conference knows he didn't call the PAC twelve. Pack does not playing. In, called try and assistance there. Right. What are the states that you have to win if you want to win the presidency? Ohio. Pennsylvania. Michigan. Wisconsin. States that he won last time around. Hey, what states in the big ten in? Ohio. Pennsylvania. Michigan. Wisconsin. Brilliant. If they still don't play. Trump wins because she could say they're not playing politics 'cause they want to win the election. If they do play, he can say sea effect. AIDS brilliant diabolical. But brilliant because I actually believe that the big ten presidents. The they they don't WanNa get sued and they don't WanNa kid drop dead because of myocarditis coming back from covid. Now are there some protections in place is somebody who believes you're safer playing your sport being in your sports bubble which we've all been in when you play of course. But this is trump. Really he is like the whole thing I'm not a politician I'm not running as a politician. This is a very savvy political move. And next hour I'll give you an update on a potential. For Earl Thomas in Dallas Jerry. Jones talking about it. We'll get to that next hour the Ted. I'd that's all we got time for it. rhymes with news. Well. That's the news and thanks for stopping by. He's doing sports to help his reelection campaign. Brilliant and it's a no lose for. Absolute Knowle's. Last night was amazing in the NBA Two upsets lost in. lost in the rockets collapse at the end of the game and Oklahoma City forcing a game seven. Is the fact that the Milwaukee Bucks once again, lost opener in a playoff series. Jimmy Butler had forty forty. Let's Sam Amick of course, covers the NBA insider for the athletic. He joins us in the heard I'm Doug Gottlieb filling in for Colin. Let's start with the nightcap and work our way kind in reverse a little bit You. What like is it more about Russell Westbrook's Terrible. Play or Chris. Paul's amazing play the summation of that fourth quarter. Man That's a neck and neck race I mean I'll give it to Chris not only for. Excuse me that fourth quarter but. Is continued. You know we had headline at our side. It said Chris Paul owns the bubble and it's like man that continues to be true with. The president of the Players Union side and everything that came with it. But the revenge factor in this series is incredible if you would've told me. Last off season that the thunder after making getting Christian that trade would be in this kind of a spot. It's no way in Hell I. Believe you. So that's my picks but man Russ. Struggling but also James being passive was something that jumps out at you. John Hollinger pointed out of course, I know he also writes for the athletic he formerly to work for the Grizzlies and we worked together back at ESPN he pointed out that that you know. He just looked tired and whether he's a guy that that fatigues easy or whether, and he's always been seen as a hangout guy right? Only guy with a strip go with a Jersey hanging a strip club I know they can't go to strip clubs but fatigue makes cowards of all I thought fatigue played a huge factor in why James Harden was so passive late night game. Yeah just I don't know what to attribute it to but Yeah, and listen for sure. James. is known as the due to has a good time. Out here that ain't happening. I know what I mean it's just not I'm I wrote a story last night and the. Sports writer. It's still surreal. I've only been here for a few days now and you know Rudy Bears Twenty feet away hanging out and there's nowhere go these guys are chilling and so was it fatigue? WAS IT You know him just want the hand the reins to rush for that moment I don't know but it's a terrible look and again the idea that the Chris you know what I mean like you said on the way out, he yelled he said we got a chance that's all he wanted was a chance, and now that they're letting it come to this is certainly playing with fire I have an appreciation for Chris Ball because I played the position I think he's awesome. But I've also seen him in his career. You go back to New Orleans Hornets days when they made the playoffs and I thought he was great in tough situations there with limited talent. is it possible that Chris Paul can be a winner and not win a championship? Sure. Yeah I mean. It's it is possible I mean he's had some bad games than those warriors matchups twenty had really good opportunity and he couldn't figure it out alongside James Harden you know and the clippers days. You know they didn't get it over the top I mean you know it's the John Stockton's Karl Malone Charles. Barkley's all those kinds of guys. You can't sit here and tell me. They're not winning championships players but you know now not there's nothing but a court full of NBA stars who have never tasted that the champagne you know, and then that's where there's so much on the line in the series even if you go to the coach sided thing. Mike Dantonio is on that Short list of most celebrated NBA coaches who's never won one and and James and Russ have been fighting their own side in that regard..

And Look I, know some of you don't like like his persona and we'll get to that later on the show, I will tell you that when you're a six foot point guard. You're A. Six Point Guard. Who's been told you know either you're not big enough or not good enough or you're not a winner you in order to make it, you almost have to be. A meaner sob you just do. But. We do this thing in Sports Square we act like there's more pressure when you get to an NBA championship. Like if you can overcome the challenges in the first. Second round. Somehow you can't overcome those same challenges like you're a choker when you get to a high, that's not how it works. It works. There's so many different things that go into winning. So My Can we put to bed the idea that you have to win a championship in order to be a winner? You're GONNA miss shots, big instances. You're not always gonNA play perfect but I would commit to you that Chris Paul with the gate with the ball in his hands in the game on the line I have a supreme amount of confidence that he's going to take and make the big shot or taking make the big play i. believe that last night he solidified himself which she not just because he's done at once he's done it multiple times in multiple stops for different teams in different coaches he's a winner he just may not have been championship city. Team do it. You can be a winner and not always win. You can be losing player and sometimes win confusing. Sure. But sometimes, that's our job I believe is not just to make bombastic statements and point out things may have missed. But also to give you context. And the context is they were dead to rights beaten. With a young team no real other options and he just decided effort. I'm a win this by myself. And you know what? He did. He did. What, what a game? What a night if you love Hoop, you were sitting there going this is. Amazing. There's amazing. and. It also points out like look I. Respect Stat Guy I'm not going disrespect guys that follow the stats. But the idea that like Russell Westbrook who averaged as many or more assists than Chris Paul is in the stratosphere of Chris Paul as passer is a joke. Is A joke. But that takes actually watching the games understanding the nuance of the sport. And sometimes they're just too many things on and we go and look at the box score and make an assessment as to who can do what, and who can't do what we do the same thing about winning winners and losers. Well, you know his team clippers never got out of the Second Round Chris, Paul's not a winner like you know that's not really Close. To, being record. Coming up next. I believe the chiefs are a dynasty. Some. Some. Have pointed out how hard a dynasty is to have and I think one of the reasons. That the chiefs are a dynasty that they're going to be around and give themselves several opportunities to win a super bowl is because they're coached by coach who has led a dynasty before. You just don't think of it as a dynasty. I'll get to that upcoming next but first one more heard the heard streams twenty four hours a day seven days a week within the iheartradio APP. "I'm curious to know you mentioned that you and Kobe were friendly. What was the nature of your relationship? How long have you guys been friendly? Lina had developed a friendship. Well Kobe's from outside of Philadelphia. I'm from outside of Philadelphia. We're not anywhere close same age about twelve years. Apart in age and He went to Lower Merion high school. I went to Upper Marion. High School. I did a An East sixteen feature story On Kobe Ten years ago and so even though we each other and were you know you You know Kinda close then because the Lakers were on. Were on television. This you know the Lakers shack air. I remember all that I mean. We have Lakers every week on the on on our NBA coverage on ABC So it was like every week I was either. La At a home game or had them on the road much like the last couple of years has been the warriors that we have on every week So it's just when you see someone like that all the time there there. Are you know you stop it. You're staying in the same hotels. You had dinner a few times. You have drinks a few times A- and you'd be you'd get to be friends and so You know and not. You're not just talking about basketball. In fact I don't know how many many times we ever had basketball conversation. Maybe a few but mostly it was just about life. Our kids Me At the time I was trying to have children at the time So he was around for all of that When I was trying to have children when I adopted my my my son he he was around for all of that as a friend To to offer encouragement and support so Just thirty years We just became friends like we. We you know were not Best friends or anything like that but you know I was proud to call him a friend of mine if I ever needed anything I knew that I could give them a call after he retired. You know we would text a couple of times couple times a year just to touch touch base. Keep in touch how you doing on holidays stuff like that So I'll definitely miss them. So so how'd you get the news. Finally when it was going around that pro bowl Sunday which we all have been hearing in suspecting but didn't know his true until later Just from the from our our truck You know where everything is coming in and out of the trunk you know how that setup is in central and our producer Jay Rothman. He was hearing the news. And you just kinda related to all of us me booker tests over our. This is what we're hearing. We have been confirmed at where we don't know it's it's true but just so you know this is what we're hearing and that was literally like fifteen eighteen minutes before we're we're going on the air and so how do you manage to keep it together knowing that a friend of yours and eight others just perishing. This helicopter crash that became and still is the talk of our country. Well I didn't I didn't really you didn't I didn't together what happened there were There are a lot of tears to make people had to repeatedly Tend to me to make me look like I had not been grind the players had to I I remember drew. BREES is just. He's just the kindest most gracious guy you'll ever meet. I've never had to have a player consoled me before during an interview and he He knew the pain that I was in You know I remember him putting his arm around me and giving me a big hug. I remember Suzy Kolber To offer to do the game for me she said I. If you can't do this all come do it. I'll come to the sidelines. Free and I met a lot And I almost took her up on it but I thought just kind of sitting around and not doing doing anything less than going to be better. So no no. I didn't hold it together all that. Well what would you remember about that afternoon. After getting the were there had to be so many emotional moments and you remember drew brees. You Remember Suzy and I'm rubbing the truck volunteering. Hey if you need more hands on deck got into it to you directly but I said you know you WANNA go all hands on deck and you need our help. LemMe knowing we'll head right back out there. What stands out to you about that afternoon? Still when you think back to it. Just how Itself just how Numb I felt and I just Kinda felt like I was under water Couldn't really focus And you know it's just many times it's kind of staring. I could not tell you a single play from the pro bowl. I don't remember anything about the game itself Nothing I don't remember raving about the game. I just remember off at half-time Usually I kind of do some work during halftime and I remember just sitting down and just staring at the ground for like twenty minutes Until my my producer on the field with me said okay you gotta get up now. They're starting the end. Oh okay So I just. I don't remember much about the game at all. Do you remember any players coming to you. Being that you're the sideline reporter Porter appointive information asking you if it happened to be true what we were hearing in that stadium that day. No they hit it They had heard already so they knew like they hit They had heard it in the locker room and had been had been told what had happened But players you know while they weren't asking me for information they were. They were certainly kind of conveying. They're shocked they're just belief that and And their sorrow and you saw that you saw that in the in the interviews that That we did what. I was surprised by that And I guess I shouldn't be surprised because these players are so young But I was surprised by how many really had never you know weren't weren't really all that tight with him or even met him Drew Breeze had told me that he met him once and I was like really. That seems crazy to me. He drew brees and he's Kobe. Like how did you. How did you guys know each other like better than that But you know two different worlds different circles football NBA And I know that you know at times the world in you know collide in effect but Yeah I was surprised it for most of the guys the reaction was wow like this like most fans like they reacted like fans like I. I can't believe this is the death of a legend and But they weren't. I felt like I was one kind of new new new new new him. More than just kind of you know the guy On the Lakers so being that you were struggling to hold it together on Sunday during the pro bowl how did you hold it together on Friday night. Being the sideline reporter for the Lakers trailblazers game where they honored him in the other victims of the crash Both I was hard to The I think that pre-game tribute it was twenty five minutes long so I didn't hold it together all that great thing you know. They didn't come to be right after that. Because me like everyone else in the arena like the announcers we were all well Choked up at that time. Anyone who you know who knew Kobe. Like like we do. And you know even and in talking with Mike Breen and Justin Gundy and Mark Jackson again The relationship that they had to Kobe was different than the one that I talk to them. He he you know their relationship is like the one that I have with those of the players football basketball. You know you're like you like you're cool. You're cool cool with them. Cool with all of them but you know how it is Adam. There are few that you become friends with of course and it's and it's more so not a lot but just a few that are that are your friend and he was just one of those guys. What will you remember about that Friday night experience and it was like like to be in that arena that night A couple of things one You know I'm in the arena hours before the doors even open to the public so seeing all every single seat Covered with a t shirt and number eight or number twenty four t shirt Seeing the bowl look like that in all yellow with his number numbers on every seat that was powerful it kind of took your breath away sheers rendition of amazing grace. I mean He. He took took church right from the beginning. You felt like you were at a a memorial service and Just another thing is just watching the the Lakers you know as whereas they were standing for the national anthem just players hugging each other. You know holding each other up visibly hurting You don't see that often. and which is like that What will stay with me Wiz Khalifa Shirley booth that halftime song? See See you again. That was incredible See and again half time I am working so I was not out on. The court did not I could hear it in the In the tunnel and the backlog locker rooms but I didn't see it So but yeah I can imagine You know just seeing the regulars like the Rob Pelinka and Jeanie Buss. That you know from if you just kinda looked from a distance everything looked like a normal Lakers game. A regular Lakers game. But then then you like you look closer and you see everyone's eyes red and puffy and everyone just heartbroken the players that usually come back for games See see them. I saw Matt Barnes You know and he said he's he's upset and he's like you know I just saw He met with showing you that he also coaches his twins basketball team and he said coping with send shoes and would come to their practices Apparently are really good team. I'm on the West Coast. I travel team and You know everyone thinks still even Friday six days later and I know it was only six days later but everyone who's still kind of in this kind of just just kind of heartbroken. I wouldn't say shocked because the shock part had worn off the just just kind of I I asked Dwight Howard you know how you doing. And he summed it up perfectly. He's just like devastated. We're devastated. I think that's what a lot of people it felt. So how did you have anything left in your emotional tank to even do the Super Bowl on Sunday Well because they do it I have to But yeah it's been honestly. I had a pre game workout in the gym at the hotel. You were at that hotel. And he saw it wasn't the greatest of of gyms but It was really tiny but it's probably probably so small that no one wanted to be in there but on Sunday morning I was in there and I was by myself and I was listening to my Gospel Music and I just broke down and cried and I felt better after it. I felt like I told my a friend of mine afterwards. I was like wow I just got. I'm glad no one came in and had Jim because because I just went in and I said I feel a little better now like now. It's time to go to the Super Bowl Do you ever recall having any kind of we collect that Lisa emotionally anything professionally that could compare to that No no nothing thing like that. But I mean I've done some pretty difficult assignments before When I was with ABC? I covered uh you know the crash of TWA flight. Eight hundred I remember just kind of being just emotionally drained during the nine days or eight or nine days that I I did that off. The coast of Mauritius The Oklahoma City bombing was there. The they're percent they're the afternoon right after the morning that it happened so hours later. was there for nine days. I remember being you know emotionally wiped out after that But it's different when you feel when you have a personal connection to something It certainly you know as a human being. I felt for everyone involved in that. That plane crash and in the bombing But it is. It's just a little different when you have a personal connection to a tragedy edgy So yeah like I said I've I've done some some gut wrenching stories before but this was different. Want to thank you very much for agreeing to take this time and when I had asked you to do this last Thursday you said let me think about it and I appreciate the fact that you did think about it and come back to me with with you being willing to do this because I think everybody wanted to hear. "You know what. Hey you gotta be open to ideas and so with all of us. Putting all of our collaborative efforts forward is just a beautiful day moving forward and I look forward to to opening up minds and expanding his off season. 'cause I know no what's on the horizon. What's that I'm not GonNa say you more going back until more football archives that you said you have other replace from that very same game so does that mean defensive? Coordinator is next year. Got To stay the nineteen forty eight Michigan wolverines. When they're playing? I'm not gonNA say who knows. We may not line up in one thousand nine hundred eighty seven wishbone formation. Colorado days just cowboy. Now we're talking. Wow well you know what. What if you've got five down then to like right? I WANNA low know who was on that staff that I heard last week. Somebody somebody Andy. Reid was on the Missouri Staff. Yes he was yes he was. You guys scored on the fifth down right. Where you on your on that? So you team correct yes I was. Yes yes yes you are and that was a huge deal and for those who don't know I was a reporter for the Rocky Mountain News the time you're at the University of Colorado so I've covered your endeavors football football diverse year for thirty years ebay right. So you see have you andy. Reid ever talk about the five down that it took for you to score the controversial touchdown down during the national championship season. One thousand nine hundred it always comes up and because we're in the state of Missouri. It I mean first of all I came up in nineteen eighteen ninety nine when I when I I play with play for him and it. It's a continuous conversation because we are in the state of Missouri but And I'll tell you at him and and I share this with everyone. We had no idea. And like I said if you were part of that history and you knew exactly what took place that a game was one of the all-time plastics we were going back and forth. And you know now they'll talk about the fifth down from Colorado. We talked about how how bad to feel. Conditions were because if The game would have been over if they all of my man John Bowmer wouldn't have slipped but we slept all day and but I will say this. That game was is historical game it was too great teams battling back and forth and we had no idea we actually learned about it that we had five downs watching sports center at night now. J. Lueneburg was one of the only guys that actually knew in we he. He was a senator so he knew but we had no idea and so it happened. I'm not taking it back and I'm not giving it back. It listen to help you guys win the National Championship in one thousand nine hundred so I ask you lose winning a national championship at C.. You compare it to winning a super bowl and Kansas City. You know what the two great moments in in my lifetime that. I'm very fortunate to to be a part of you. Know to experience and the beauty of it is is just the the bonds that formulated the chemistry that it took to achieve those goals. And the only thing when you're when you're young kid and you you have that opportunity to play for National Championship. That's all you ever wanted to do. And once you have an opportunity plant this League or even coaching this league. The only advantage you ever want to do is reach the highest pinnacle and that's just to win the Super Bowl and so it's it's an overwhelming feeling of emotion. It's a surreal moment in time but I will say this. It's is something that wants you to go back in and and you want more. You know what I mean. What's the next thing? The next thing is is to try and repeat it and do it again and so you know as we Continue through this this journey right now and tomorrow we have the The parade you know at some point time this week. We're going to turn the page and move on and start think setting ourselves up hopefully for the same type of success story for next season before we talk about repeating. What is the one moment from that game? That celebration that night that you'll never forget that will always stay with you. He you know what I know everybody was asking me Doing some of the press conference conference about the play that we through to To tyreek the third and fifteen play which was a hell of a play and I expect those guys to do that at all times times and the thing is to me. It was the thing that we talk about all the time here because everybody sees us as a passing asking team but the O- running back coach Emmy never leaves in the thing that always harper and I guys especially in the four minute type situation is that we have to have the ability to run the ball when teams know that. We're going to run it. And the way we ended that gay with Damian Williams you know and and and and we had Anthony Sherman as lead blocker the O.. Line comes off the ball and we ended up finishing that game with a lead inside zone to our left and and scoring off that that right there was the highlight and do not get me wrong. There's plenty of things that go back on and talk about that. Play that Pat Numb tyreek Eke may but also about the play that Pat Through the Sammy Watkins at he beat Richard Sherman down. The right side of I feel but but that moment okay to me was very very special because it's sealed the deal. What was the coolest text message you got after the game? Somebody unexpected just anybody you know. What Adam This is gonNA sound crazy but I have over a thousand text messages so I'm still going through so and I'm asking everyone the still remain patient and I will get back to every one of you. It's so it's been an overwhelming experiencing experiencing at one point in time. I just set my phone down. 'cause I just couldn't take it because and I'm very excited that I have that amount. The people reaching out to me but it's just been a little bit overwhelming because sometimes I just wanted to sit back and just enjoy just this this this moment in time. Hi what was the one that you did see. Obviously there are tremendous amount. And you haven't gone back. Everybody will use this. They all have been very very very very good I mean I've enjoy reading a lot of them Just you know old. Oh France. Highschool teammates high school classmates Former college teammates form of professional teammates. I mean they all have been special to me so there's really not one that stands out. I think all of them. Because they're just I mean everybody's just so happy for me it and so it feels good to know that people actually care and but like I say it's an overwhelming feeling of emotion. Right now I'm just I'm having. I'm struggling to put into words. Well before I let you go you interviewed for a number of head. Coaching jobs this year. Unfortunately did not get one of those jobs. What did you learn this year that you could apply next year that would help you during the interview process? He one thing is just to continue being and who I am and there is no format that really Sets the guidelines when you go in there because every team is different but what I have to remain who I am and be who I am. And that's to continue to show. Why airbnb deserves an opportunity? Because 'cause I am I'm just GonNa work my tail off committed and passionate Very organized you know. Have I do. Oh football you know it's amazing That people would probably not think that I don't know football. I actually worked for one of the one of the most brilliant grow your minds of all of football and the thing that I have learned more than anything is just to continue being me and when it's meant to be you know what Adam it happened other than that. I'm just GonNa continue doing what I do here. And that's chopping wood and turning the page over and getting ready for the next phase of of of this journey that we're going on Going through you know into a season eight did the thrill of winning a super bowl takeaway from some of the disappointment of not landing the head coaching job. You know what the thrill of having the opportunity to playing through the play offs and yes the opportunity to win the Super Bowl but what. I was never disappointed because one thing you learn in this profession. You know you can't force anyone to hire you. That's totally up to you. Yeah I have a great job. I worked for great organizations for the family. We have a great fan support. I happen to work with some outstanding coaches have to have a great mentor and coach Andy Reid and then on top of that. We have some pretty good players. That are fun to work. WHOA so would have liked to receive a head coaching job? Yes I think everybody wants to be one of the thirty two when it's all said and done with but I have this opportunity to line. I know up and do this again with a lot of good people. And that's that's fun. That's a lot of fun and it makes it a tremendous challenge moving forward because now now we gotta make sure that we're inspiring guys and motivating them to come back and do it all over again. Will he be. I want to thank you for the time today. I can say honestly I think I'm probably one of the few people that has when you win both a national championship a super bowl in person. Ask those games and do that and I appreciate you take some time today to to share similar thoughts about winning Super Bowl fifty four. Thank you very much. Thank you Mr Schefter. I greatly appreciate you and all that you have done for me and throughout the number of years and we've known each other. I greatly appreciate you sir. I appreciate you enjoy sleeping in Sunday morning and there. Where's the Kansas City chiefs world champion offensive coordinator Eric B enemy and now ESPN reporter? Lisa saulters the excellent reporter reporter from ESPN colleague. Lisa saulters and we bring her on. Because Lisa's coming off a week stretch that I think is unlike a stretch that any any reporter has encountered in any recent memory. Lisa was the sideline reporter for the proble when the tragic news of Kobe. Bryant's helicopter crash spread through that stadium. She spent that day at the pro bowl in one about more difficult assignments I think any reporter could have then went to the super bowl and I was with her on Thursday morning as we were driving through the chiefs and then she flew that day to Los Angeles for the Lakers game on Friday night in wish they memorialize Kobe Bryant and the other victims of the helicopter crash and then when I walked into the hotel on Saturday morning eight. AM eight thirty. A M there was Leeson lobby and I said how could she have been a my TV last night in L. A. and now is in the lobby of our will tell Miami to get ready for the Super Bowl on Sunday which was broadcast in Australia. So at least I appreciate it takes time and I'm just curious if you could recap the last week was like for you. Well it's it's been difficult to say the least Not just because of the heavy nature of the story but because Kobe Bryant was a friend of mine and So just being on on the sideline getting ready for the pro bowl on Sunday And getting that that hearing that rumor. fifteen minutes before we went on the air You know I immediately went into kind of denial boat like this can't be true. This can't be true I didn't WanNA text him I started texting. Some you know. Mutual Friends of our people that we know. And you know then when it was confirmed it was just It was awful So you know while you're Dealing with the grief of the loss of a friend You're also also asked to work which is what we do We work you know we power through This is just never happened to me before where you know. The news story has been you know actually like a part of my life. Somebody that I know that You know that I consider a friend of mine so it's been difficult to say the least I know when you asked me to be a part of your podcast. I didn't say yes right away because I you know I have spoken about it last week. I was asked to go on a couple of radio shows and stuff like that and and TV and on ESPN. And I just I couldn't do it. it just wasn't able to speak to my friends who you know. Were constantly calling and texting just kind of just kind of hunker down and and went and and went underground because I just was not able to Talk about it at the time It still hurts this week. Of course there's only we've been what ten eleven days later still hurts still awful but you know as each day goes by And you realize that it's it's not going to change. You Know I. I kinda got bitten in this in this kind of state where I see everything and being la on Friday and seeing all the tributes in those hundreds and hundreds of people out in that Prominent area outside of Staple Center. I just I kept thinking like well. Wait until like tell Kobe like like you would not believe that this had happened when people thought that you died And you know you're just in in the state of denial like your. This is something we're GonNa get through and then everything's GonNa go back to normal and he's going to be here So it's just a difficult difficult last few days. Well thank you for coming on. I thank you again and before we get to talking specifically about the pro bowl and what it was like Tube you've broadcast that leakers trailblazers game on Friday night..

What is it feel like to be a world champion you know what is Interest Surreal Feeling I don't even know if it's really actually set a set it in yet but After the game I just spent time with my family Talking about the emotions they kept asking me the same question and I just didn't know what to say how to express it if felt good knowing that our guys was were resilient enough to finish the game like we wanted to And had envisioned envision all season long but right. Now it's just I feel good I'm excited I don't know what exactly is going on in my mind but I I will say this. It's a great feeling of relief right now. Relief well one thing because we work work endless hours. I mean. There's a lot of time energy a lot of sacrifices at at that happens throughout the course of the season and now you have have that quote Unquote Gusau moment where you can. Xl and say man. Who the season's over now we can relax? You can get some sleep. You can enjoy a little bit of time all in just in time to yourself. You know. What's Weird Eric? It's always the first weekend after the Super Bowl. I always remember. I wake up at Sunday morning and I'm like wait wait. I don't have to get up at four thirty in the morning. Leaving I could watch Sunday. Television read a news. I could do whatever I want US anyway. Last year I remember I came stairs. My wife was watching the show. CBS Sunday morning. Like what is this show. This is a nice to watch on a Sunday. You never get that time. I'm GonNa Send Me So this Sunday you can sleep it I could sleep in. Its you get your life back to a certain extent correct exactly and it would just like today it. I mean we had a nine. Am of meeting with our players in the season type meeting. But it wasn't one of those meetings where I had to be here five or four thirty early in the morning. I mean I I set my alarm at six. I don't think I climbed out of bed until about seven seven thirty and I just took my time driving in enjoying the traffic and Just enjoying the moment of just taking my time coming to work and so it's been like I said there's been a feeling of relief but also just that exhale moment where you you can say. Oh man this feels good waking up knowing that we finished the season all the way we envisioned it. Oh yeah there's an expression enjoying the traffic traffic. When do we get to enjoy the traffic? Well you can enjoy the traffic out here because there's nothing like the traffic that I've grown up in California. I understand that now. Now here's a Tom. Rinaldi type question. How does actually winning a super bowl compared to the way you imagined it would be? You know what It feels news. Good knowing that we want it I will say this. The way guys found a way to finish just shows you how resilient our team is one one thing I can say and I'm very proud of the way we've handled it especially on the offensive side of the ball is that we've learned how to do things when things wasn't quite perfect. We have a tremendous quarterback and PAT and mahomes and the kid is a very very unique and skillful kid whereas I think at times I players can get a little complacent because he always finds a way to make things happen but when he got hurt. Our guys Kind of changed the dynamics about team and and when Matt Moore came man it our guys rallied around him and it was. It was a huge moment in the season at the time. You didn't realize it but it was a huge moment. Because because the growth process took off the maturity level. I mean it just rose to a new level because they told them we got your back you just go out there and play and and from that point on you know guys started realizing that the challenges are going to be tougher and tougher but they found a way to make things things happen when things wasn't quite perfect and you look at the way that game when we have some some highs and lows throughout the course of that game but when it was all said and done with how hi guys managed to maintain their composure. They maintain their poise and they found a way to play to the final echo of the whistle. So you're telling me that Patrick mahomes homes knee injury. When he dislocated his kneecap in a Thursday night? Game in Denver turned out to be a blessing for the team because it allowed the rest of the team to grow up and develop correct correct. Yes yes it did because guys had to figure it out you know guys have to realize that. Hey you know what everything is not as easy as we. I think it may be. You know. We had Matt Moore come in and and and not that Matt Is. A is a slouch. Matt did a hell of job of preparing. I mean we spent within an an enormous amount of time of getting him ready. We always have contingency plans just in case that moment presented itself. I thought as coaches staff. We had a great game plan mapped out just strictly format. You know that that that ever happened. But like I said guys rallied around him they. They saw it as a challenge but they also wanted him to know that you know what we don't make this happen for you. You just be you in. We'll find a way to get it done. What what? Because that's because Moses so good right so we've watched this guy for a couple years now working you've got to watch him in practice. And I remember one member of Your Organization telling me in Mexico Exco city that is first summer his rookie year in training camp. That some of the coaches some of the front office members couldn't wait to go back to watch the film with third stringers because they couldn't believe the way the guy was throwing the football in practice. When did you know that Pat Mahomes was that different in that good? I tell you when You knew when he came into building but when we played Denver his rookie year. I mean you you just knew. We have special kid there for him to go and play in that environment not not really playing. They snap since the preseason watching how he prepared for that particular gay in knowing how confidently was we just knew. We had something special than because because the kid was. He's and I'm I'm GonNa say this because I'm going back which to having that opportunity to have Alex Corner in watching Alex how he conducted himself as a professional expand. Men Watching Pat handle that week the way he did that was it was unreal a moment in time in his career and it was just a I believe from that point on. You just knew that this kid was was going to be something special and you've been around football for an awful long time. We're talking about as a player. The chargers from one thousand nine hundred ninety four at the Bengals for a few years the Eagles for a year you've coached at Colorado. Ucla the Vikings Colorado again and and the chiefs is there. Anybody that you've been within the past that he has reminded you of it off. You know what Atom I've been blessed and fortunate to work with a number of players and you you know I've I've had the opportunity to work with a Marie. Jones drew recruited and coached him and And out of high school to UCLA. I had an opportunity to work with. Adrian I re I got to know Adrian when he was in high school tried to recruit new UCLA. I knew that wasn't going to happen. But working with him and every player is different. Those are two great players players that just name and working with Pat. He has his own twist to it and he's a great player. And you just have to say that you know what I've been blessed but everyone of them bring something different to the table. The thing that I'm I'm I'm I'm fortunate of just we get to have this opportunity to share this moment in time every single day. And it's been it's been a surreal moment and I'm just looking forward now to the next chapter. Does he do things this away from the spotlight of the game that you see that the fans don't that we don't that make you go well. Well he just has a first of all. He's a beautiful. Oh Kid he has. He's he's humble. He works at it. He's a come early. Stay late Guy. He's he's very detailed. He's always wants to know exactly what he's doing if he's doing it the right way. He wants to be coached. He wants to coach Hart He doesn't want to be told every time that he's doing this He's looking good at doing. That's not he's a kid that you want every player the tomato because he's not afraid of of criticism. Okay that that doesn't that doesn't Drive him you know. In a negative way that actually focuses forces him to focus on striving for perfection. You know and so those are the things that makes him special unique person that he is. Eric what did it mean to win that game. Much Sunday for Andy Reid. You know what I mean. It means a lot just knowing the big fella for as long as I've known him man you know all the things that he's he's gone long through as a coach spending time in Philadelphia through the highs and lows and just things that he's had to experience off the field and I mean it and I said this on after the game it's just a tremendous time and in history to be a part of because coach. Rita's he's he's a great man Dan he's also a great mentor who happens to be an outstanding coach and so for us to have this opportunity to be a part of this with him. It means a lot it means a lot not just to us but also many others who have had that opportunity to work with him or play for because they know the type of man and that he is and he's such a great person. He's his character the way he treats all of his employees. It just says a lot about how. Oh He's impacted and affected. You know the people that he's touching his life so this is huge huge in a in a number of ways. Now I have to ask you you guys borrowed the Fourth Orthon one spinning play from my the nineteen forty eight rose bowl initiate de score the touchdown you brought it up post game. It got a lot of attention. People running the nineteen forty eight Michigan place side by side with the play in which Damian Williams took the direct snap on fourth and one and scored with that unique motion on offense and multiple players spinning out of the way before Williams received the snap and scored through that crease. Right by the Golan who comes up with a play from the one thousand nine hundred forty over yeah you know what is a collaborative effort We've been working on this and we actually have a number of plays from that particular Ah From that game and we've just been working that particular play for a long time man. We felt that was the right time to to to to to let it Happen and I'm just glad the guys executed it and they did a great job of just making it happen and I like I said when you work with a coach Andy Reid. You have to remain flexible now. There is no such thing as we're just going to be a traditional what we do in how we do it you know because he ask such a mind that goes beyond normal thinking and you always have to say.

"The moment you dream of and everything has just got off. We have rolling right note and just nine couldn't finish it off and so now it's tough but you know it's been a hell of a year with these guys everything we've been through you know from the very start. I mean it's just it's incredible story and they couldn't finish it off and you wonder the go back to that decision to kick the field goal in the third quarter on fourth and two they decide to kick that field goal to give themselves a ten point lead lead. Patrick mahomes over there. If you ten points I'll be and I. I don't mind that in that situation and kicked a field goal because it's an automatic. Three three you getting you extending the lead but you need to know who you plan again and that means just like. I said they're not going to panic the problem is you you stuck between. Do I go forward. And don't take the three and I get stuffed a do I take the three and rely on my defense to keep them pinned down and talk. Get the ball back and try to extend the lead from ten to seventeen or ten to thirteen and he decided to kick the field goal. which I'm okay with? I'm I'm I'm fine with that but that wasn't enough enough points at all with the thing that we're I think. We need to give credit to as well as the Kansas City chiefs defense. That three out. Not just at three and out you talked about the fact that they came back from ten point deficit with three consecutive postseason games. You can't do that. It could. Defense doesn't lock down. Stop them from scoring as well to hold that team. Two zero zero points in the fourth quarter. When seen as if all hope was laws they just score ten helge offense zero and scenario just flip and I gotta give credit to the defense as much much-improved look nothing Ki- like the defense came in here and gave up fifty five points to the rams? No they look like a different legit hungry. We we overlooked. You have defense when they when they have guys like Frank Clark in honey badger and those guys playing with it they were playing then the defense is going to look like they look. Plus I think thinks these back Nola knew what to do against Jimmy Garoppolo. Especially when they got the league's they started pin in their ears back getting after him he throws a pick you know he got hit but even if he didn't get hit probably won't get picked anyway. Yeah there was a bunch of decisions that Kyle Shanahan made to put the ball in Jimmy. GAROPPOLO's hands when he didn't decide to put in Jimmy Garoppolo's toward the end of the first half half they had more or less two minutes to go three timeouts and they let another forty seconds. Tick off the clock so now you have a minute ago and three timeouts. That was a very very odd way. That's a very happy that was not a good decision. We'll talk more about kyle. Shanahan and Jimmy G...

"We are back to normal in terms of how he put our episodes personas. I'm back home from Miami and everybody else is going to be back home soon enough. These super bowl is over. The Kansas City chiefs are are your world champions and we have a lot to discuss and to do so we have brought in the best the one and only my best friend. Papa Joe what is up my dude. Hey how are you. I am tired in Miami all week so I'm pretty tired now. I imagine so. No I mean I think you got got in and We did a little cooking and We enjoyed the game and Yeah you're right. There's lots of talk about The chiefs if felt like were were the team that every cowboys fan was rooting for her. I'm sure there was some cowboys fan. who was rooting for the forty niners but You know the obvious reasons you don't I wanna see the forty niners get past. The cow was even though the steelers patriots. Already have. You still don't want to I I do. I will say had the forty niners one. I think I would have been. LS upset about it than I would have in years past. I just think there were a lot of players in stories till like about this. Forty niners team. You know what I mean like like I would like to see George Kitto Win Super Bowl. You know what I mean but you know ideally not on the forty nine or so you know maybe you can get traded or something. I don't know but But the chiefs won the Super Super Bowl. Came back after being down twenty ten. We're GONNA talk some cowboys. But what did you think I mean. It felt like. I say that you know we talked about this then The two thousand fourteen spurs when they beat the heat in that NBA Finals it. Felt like they showed up that season to do that because they had lost in in game seven the year before so it kind of felt like predetermined in that regard. It kind of felt like she's shut up for the two thousand nine hundred and season to avenge their AFC championship game loss. And and get back. And what it all know for sure. I think You know there was a lot of I would say determination by the chiefs all season season and You know I think that like you're saying they needed to avenge themselves from last year and they played better or anything but I think they know they they probably could have won that game but You know they certainly came through this year and the forty niners on the flip side I mean and you know coming off What was it for twelve or something this year and they had the number two overall pick and took a nick Bosa? Yeah I mean to be honest with you. They weren't even on On the radar screen that I was considering and you know they just got seemed to get better throughout the season and You know at the end of the the regular season they were the best team in at the end of the playoffs They were the best team from the NFC. So you know I think that the NFC was represented as well as a could've and they had gone today. They got a slow start and they had it going and then The fourth quarter was all chiefs. It's all mahomes after he had just an average or may be less than average First three-quarters mahomes really turned it up on the fourth quarter and basically Lee you know. Put the game on. His shoulders. went out and won the damn thing. I you know when I picked this game we did some roundtables. All we in Miami all all the espionage group and when it came down to picking it I do think this is a cliche and I said that then but in games like this you pick the better quarterback Pat Mahomes uh-huh he did struggle obviously was named MVP. I don't know anybody else that would have made sense. I don't know how you can argue against especially because I don't think it's just a statistical thing I think Gerrad like abandoned the game when the going got Pat Mahomes kind of willed them You know down discourse quickly and so I mean the guys played two seasons in an MVP and a ring a super bowl MVP. I mean it's it's pretty astounding. Yeah no he's He's certainly in In a different league no pun intended than than most quarterback Sunday night. Thank you have two or three that may be can compete. You Got Lamar Jackson accent obviously. MVP for the league this year and and Jimmy G.. I mean you know. He's he hasn't really had the number but he you know he had been playing well enough a to keep his team winning. Not Making them lose. And that's just as important a lot of times you know but I think Patrick Mahomes is the real deal in these as the full package and he's got it all and you know he's got the smarts he's got the legs he's got the the arm and he's got you know I think the presence of mind and he gets up up for big games and he proved it again today and he's got the likability you know he's cool and he's funny and you know he's self aware you know he makes fun of himself for the right things and He embraces his fan base and I mean he's he's really really really easy to root for You know I think I think we say this all the time. A lot of cowboys fan say this like like last year. When Odell Beckham Junior got traded? It was a lot of well. Now I can root for Odell you know. Now I've finally yeah I can enjoy playing whatever and then that went the way it did. And so when Andy Reid left the NFC east. It was a lot of that. And I think he's you know we we. We love to talk about golf and I. I don't know who you think. The Best Golfer right now is without a major. I think we used to think it was Rickie Fowler Although right now now I'd probably say it's coach. You know I I'd probably not direction. Yeah I mean I think there's There's a handful in there It's not ricky. Fries is my point anymore. No I think ricky still in they're still in the Congress city right. Well well Andy. Reid was by far the best coach. Perhaps it's maybe in NFL history but certainly Among active head coaches. That didn't have you know and was was missing that elusive thing. Being a lot of people talking about if he won what he certainly be a hall of Famer I think I think he was a hall of fame already. I think his resume speaks for itself what he did in Philadelphia. But I mean you know winning a super bowl and doing it the way they did with the quarterback they did you know the offense they had and and him being so willing willing to be creative and reinvent himself. You know when a lot of you know. Old Guard coaches ten sort of dig. In later in their careers he was very very very malleable. And guys a hall of fame but he he deserved a ring point. It was really cool to see Andy Reed Galen all I agree. You know. I'm like you're saying he's is no longer in Philly so I mean it's okay to root for him but I mean he never he wasn't You know an arrogant guy when he was ideally either you know he was. He was just a good coach coach. Chat Yeah exactly and they were fortunate to have and probably regret letting him go. Although Peterson isn't terrible but I mean I think Andy Reid may be you know solidified what you're saying going to hall of fame because this win obviously solidifies that I think for him but it all started when he made the tough decision decision to let go of Alex and out Smith and and ride with Mahomes mahomes unproven at the time you know and there was a lot of talk talk about him. Was He reading. What have you But Andy You know flip that switch and didn't look back and you know so a lot of credited him To go against the critics. And you know go with his gutten with what his experience and background was telling him what he was seeing with Mahomes so You know again. My point is that he made a tough decision at worked out for him and counts now. If you're listening to this you are likely subscribe. I belong to the boys podcast. They were all good guys that just you know I. It didn't work out and they win for one reason or another and But now the not they look smart. Yeah well I mean you never know how the dice will roll and in their case it rolled in their favor. And and Yeah I mean I don. I don't think any one of them left on bad terms with the cowboys I think You know they were all I would say serviceable with the cowboys. He's probably the best one. The Bunch Hitchens So I would say that you know. Yeah I'm I'm pretty happy for them. So okay let's talk a little bit about the cowboys specifically obviously had to touch on the super bowl but it is officially the off season for all thirty two. NFL teams. So let's get into before we do take a very quick break to hear. The word from our sponsors hiring could be a slow process cafe all tourism.

"Hey I can handle that. Okay just sent it all right. Thanks thanks a lot appreciate it. Titans and I guess except titans are loose and you might as well not cheer for. Couldn't help them out now. So our final score here. Kansas City ten Tennessee. The eight more on Trivia predicts a victory for the Kansas City chiefs going back to the Super Bowl for the first time in fifty years. I think it's I think it's the first first time in fifty years they went was the last time they went. Nineteen seventy ZIP possible. Not sure I think it is. Yeah I think they went in Super Bowl. Four right in one thousand nine hundred seventy and. I don't think they've gotten back since. We'll look up just to be sure. Your nineteen seventy. Yeah I mean that's amazing against the Texans against a no-no Texans slash chiefs okay. Oh I I think the the Texans moved to Kansas City right and became the chiefs chiefs. Confused me to have confused myself. All right triple eight. Nine hundred thirty three ninety-three also add pat unleashed on twitter by the way that baseball baseball scandal. That just keeps taking more and more managers out of the game took another one out of the game yesterday. Somebody who had just been hired hasn't even managed his first game yet. Carlos Beltran has now been fired by the mets. They just hired him like a few weeks weeks ago and he's out now because he was one of the I think he was. He was with the Astros as a player when they were doing. The sign stealing thing so the Astros manager and general manager fired the red SOx manager fired. And and now the New York mets manager fired will this claim anybody else man. I don't know we'll see But baseball doesn't need this. They just they just got through. It seems like the whole steroid thing with all these guys on steroids steroids. All these cheaters and many of these many of the best players in the game with the best statistics in the game not in the hall of fame because because the steroid cheating scandal. And we're just starting to get over that and now you got this sign. Stealing thing really sucks for baseball It's really too bad. I don't know that they can afford this. I don't I don't think attendance has been that great to begin with. And then you you throw this into the mix. Certainly it's not gonNA help anything but hopefully they'll get through. This went to triple eight nine hundred thirty. Three ninety-three Andy. Pat unleashed twitter. "This game and so everyone is talking about on a national level. I one way the in chiefs Ravens Patrick Mahomes Lamar Jackson on. Espn Michael Vick reiterate. That again the seems is beat the Ravens twice. They'd be them last year when the mob junk fairly getting into his group but this year they beat him early in the season. And you know Patrick. Mahomes has got to attack all areas of the field. And I know this is before they got Marcus Peters but when you got a guy like Patrick Mahomes who can do it all then every defense offense can be put up on the rest so I think they're the biggest threat to the Ravens. The Ravens face quarterbacks packs from home so I'm eager to see with this matchup going to look like it might not be at home for Catholic Kansas City because that's what both of the winds took place it'll be on the road to me. It's getting more and more obvious that the chiefs are the number one threat threat for the Ravens. Do you think they're a bigger threat to open it up then even NFC teams right now. I have a hard our time bidding against the chiefs right now in. Maybe maybe the saints. I mean the saints are pretty good. Contender there Patrick Mahomes. When he's on is going to put you in that football game you are going to have a very good chance of winning? That game is going to go down to the wire and I would have a hard time bidding against Patrick Mahomes against against anybody so yes I think the are the biggest threat. I think the saints are pretty big threat to a former chief. A friend era had pride. A brother of starting right tackles of the Kansas City chiefs. Mitch Ward Jeff. Schwartz was asked about this situation on the heard will their pass defenses. Here's a big difference. Pass pass defenses top five. They're excellent the past which has been different than they have. Some integrators really been there. They're the ones that can be Baltimore. My opinion in the AFC because they can score points sights will often focus on what Lamar is doing. He's been great. You'll be the MVP. It's a hard offense to stop but if you can score points you put them in uncomfortable situations. They have not been in a lot this year. They've I have not been behind in Games. They haven't had to keep up with someone else they blitz lot pam homes is great against the blitz. A bunch of guys get beat man coverage you know hell and Kelsey and Watkins and Robinson and Hardman. You're so deep in that situation in that in that situation that the chiefs I think are the best option to beat the Ravens. I think they're the only league team in the AFC that could put up a lead on the Ravens where you see game at the beginning of it. Where maybe the chiefs can come out score touchdown all of a sudden as Jeff Schwarz's looting to their pass defense steps up? They stop the Ravens either on third down and they kick a field goal. Or you know John Harbaugh Harbaugh. Maybe they stopped on fourth down and all of a sudden it's fourteen nothing and just like that the game has changed. You can change the script a little bit and force them into a situation where they've gotta be more aggressive passing assing down the field and I mean I if you WANNA turn it into a passing competition. Patrick Mahomes is going to run circles around Lamar Jackson and it's not going to be close us Here's here's some stats. Someone was tweeting this out earlier. Lamar Jackson Scott Thirty Games under his belt. Four thousand ninety yards passing thirty nine touchdowns Patten homes has played twenty eight games to less eighty six hundred forty seven yards in seventy one touchdowns when it when you isolated in in the perspective perspective of the passing game. Yeah it's not close so with the cheese can get out into a lead. Potentially I mean we're talking about this game like it's happening tomorrow but that's the situation. The the the cheese can get out ahead of a team like the Ravens. It's it's going to be tough for the Ravens to Kinda hang with them and I it's it's it would be huge. I think our own Ron cop made a good point this week where everyone always talk about this potential matchup and everyone always mentions well the ravens. Are this different team. Who's really good now? They're well improved sewer. The chiefs writes the past. Defense Tehreek Being back in the MIC Grundy's too obvious and the chiefs are the cheese too and against Baltimore when when the market access the quarterback. I WANNA see Lamar Jackson in this offense. Go through some teams that have seen him twice. Because that it doesn't seem like the chiefs of seeing the Lamar Jackson twice now. Obviously the offense is a little bit different laster than it is this year. But they've seen him twice. They beat get your questions in right now for a live mailbags six nine three zero six. We're going to have one more around the nation this one comes again from. ESPN A den or loss. Key and Rex Ryan weighing in on this matter honor clearly. This is the biggest threat to the Ravens. They beat him head to head earlier in the year however the Ravens added to corners. Okay Marcus Peters and they got Smith Breath back so I think that's gives the ravens a an edge and I think you're going to get bad weather and we see that the chiefs look great in that bad weather but it plays into the hands of the Ravens. I think are the best team. There is no way that anyone wants to play the Kansas City chiefs chiefs the defense. This was the question all off season. I sat here six weeks ago and said Man Patrick Mahomes GonNa throw for four hundred fifty defense. This was a super bowl. Favorite eight Britt. That now has a defense. They're fast on the defensive end. They're getting turnovers on the defensive.

"Film analysts Craig's doubt in just a few moments we're gonNA continue with some I'm Terrell suggs. Talk and Andy. Reid was at the podium today. The cheese didn't put your house. Hugs there so it was hard to hear him in the locker room. But Andy Reid you could hear loud and clear here or his comments On Terrell suggs and read was I asked about whether or not we could see him as early as this week on Sunday Sunday night. Football play by air to see how he feels as it goes. He's he's a straight shooter. He's anti where it feels where he's out so was just taking day by day like that. Tell you off the tape. He's still can play and loves to play. I mean loves to play the game. You one of those kind of guys and you know so arguably a future hall of famers were glad to have him here and coaching before the pro. Oh Warner goes against him. But he's on our team right now in your chance to talk to him about his excitement level about coming into spotlight this the team. He's excited about you. Know he's just right. Now he's just kind of getting his bearings he just got physical. Does all all the things you have to do before you ready to play calling. And they got situated now meetings and here we are so interesting we'll practice. And so he jeff bring a voice into the defense with all all his welcomed experience and the what do you hope you can add as a voice. You're talking about an experienced guy who's been there and done it. He's won championships. He's he's been leader throughout his career. You know last long in the League if you're you're not all the player and person so he's he's a that's what that's what he brings to you a plug and play option for Sunday running now so he does know stuff. That's bags does They were together at the Ravens. And so I would say plug and play but there are things that you also have to go back and review and he is meticulous notetaker and studying I. I mean he's very passionate about making sure he knows everything play but how he goes about his business so he was digging in this morning born and getting everything down and make sure he's got all the INS and outs of the defense take. This is this is so Brad stays on top of that. You guys know that that he's relentless and fearless that way. So he's trying to do what's best for the team and he checks with. Somebody made sure he checked to stave and Stayed Goes Guy lows football. He's a great teammate. That's all bread lead here. So the rest of 'em From your experience in working when you make a move like this this leading to see how much does it come to not just the highlights put the tangible person. How much of that is waiting for the decision? Were you make a claim you gotta make sure they can play. I mean that's that's important. And then how do they fit in your locker. We've got a good locker room and we have some good leaders on this team. So how how do they fit into that. And you WanNa bring something getting disrupt where you're at right now so Brad Brad Look at all that spags here. That tyron knows them. So that's a rat or stags anybody. Could you ate them committee. I talked to him. He's not familiar with us so that I tell them about what's what's going on here and they want to hear it. Sure you wanted to know what was going on thorough guy but then I have to put the hammer down on or anything. No you have some questions and which guys do about around and and I think he liked what he heard us. Fired up wasn't recruit recruiting type Situation Kansas City chiefs head coach Andy Reid talking about Terrell suggs in what the addition means and just how the process works. You heard him there saying there was a phone conversation which you understand. I think sucks being thirty seven one to know the situation in Kansas City and it didn't take much convincing but I think it did take at least a little to get him to calm the end of the day. I don't think he was gonNA turn down an opportunity to play with Patrick Mahomes. No because because I think this this situation undoubtedly presents him an opportunity to win a super bowl. I compared to anybody. I think you could put it across the landscape. I don't think there's has anybody that has a better situation. I'm putting the Ravens in that mix too. I think that she's a right up there with anybody. The only thing that they have definitively the ravens is a guarantee almost of a homefield advantage. Let's bring in our defensive film analyst Craig Stout to hear about his thoughts on Terrell suggs. Craig what's going on man. Hey not how much guys how we doing tonight. Pretty good talk to can't a little bit before about his initial reaction when he heard about this. We'll ask you the same question when you first heard okay. Terrell all sides going to be a member of the Kansas City chiefs. What was your thought? I was excited. This was a position of need for the chiefs with foregoing down. Honestly so you could argue you know even before that with odd but going down. They needed a little more depth. They were able to find some but with the Mown Harris ten of passing those coming along but honestly honestly they needed a veteran presence. I guy that was strong against the run and Guy Kinda could go out there and have that ability ability late in January basically no window turn the switch on no with you know what the offense is going to do them kind of play a more well rounded game that we've seen of those young guys they may get there. But they're not there yet so I was ecstatic. But even before I turned on the film I was ecstatic. that the chief forgetting a player player that had that sort of translatable ability. Yeah let's talk about the film because you were so diligent Craig being ever. The overachiever goes right to the film. Film you can catch his article right now. I'm GonNa read the title of it for you. Terrell suggs film review Iq and experience and power will make an impact tacked on the defense. All good things. What did you see when you turn it on? I expected to see. It's real sucks a little slower than I was used to. which is the case? That's definitely the case. He's thirty seven. That's not that old guys. It's really not that old but it is old and football years and he he's a little slower doesn't quite have the same agility doesn't quite have the same bin but he wins with power. Still he is able to bully tackles around the field in a lot of the ways that we talked about defensive ends in the past Kinda doing and he wins with his supreme football. IQ It's such a quick. You know identifier of the play when he sees a tackle fire on a specific way he knows which gap to attack. He knows where to dip and get himself into the backfield to while he may not have the same burst and speed that he has in the past he more than makes up for it in his ability to quickly diagnose and quickly get to where he needs to be in order to you know from four some tackles for loss in sacks and things of that nature. I don't think there's anyone may be in Kansas City. Who could answer this question better than you can? Because you watched every snap of the Bob Sutton defense offense we any offseason new. The chiefs defense was a a grand weakness. Now here we are week sixteen to two today's to go. The chiefs are certainly one hundred percent headed to the postseason. We'll see what seed they are. But you got Frank Clark and Chris Jones suddenly Terrell suggs. Do you you have tire and Matthew want thornhill playing. Well the quarterbacks surprisingly playing really well did you ever in a million years expect this would be the defense and the look headed into the NFL. Playoffs I mean absolutely. We all did never any criticism of Steve Spagnolo at any any points. And you know we. We're we're all shocked. We're obviously also that they were able to turn it around this quickly. I said before the season the hope was that they would be a top fifteen points per game defense and they were. They were fluctuating around there for a lot of this year. Load a a little bit Kinda come back up. They are top ten right now playing against two you know bad offenses coming up. Frankly so they have a chance to really kind of vault himself yourself even further up their you know their way of their indeed as well playing really well I get a pass. They are getting better against the run. And Terrell suggs is only only gonNA help with that. You're particularly in January with the teams are going to see so this really has been a surprise that it was able to come together as well does it is but when you watch it on film you understand why you saw some of the growing pain. How close they were but they were finally able to make it? Click and everybody play together there. Be On the same page and that led to what. You've seen the past three or four weeks craig. I want to circle back to Terrell suggs a little bit real quick Alex Force Kinda had nothing down year. there's been some good moments for him. He just got placed on the I. R.. Obviously do you think Terrell suggs what you've seen is an upgrade over trails over Alto Kuffour whereas you about the same. Oh well the past two weeks the four Alex Okafor. A guy heard this week and the week before Alex Okafor was playing like the player that I think we all Kinda hoped that he was going to be a key made an impact rushing the passer and he said a good hard edge earlier earlier in the year he did not teams just ran away from Frank Clark and found success at that side of the field whether that'd be locavore. Can't passing now Emmanuel odd. Although Oslo is a little bit better in that regard so in that regard Terrell suggs is better than early season. Alex for one hundred percent percent just for his ability to set that good hard edge and to be able to collapse the pocket with power. Chris Jones and Frank Clark are going to be you better players simply because he's over there. You're not allowing a quarterback the ability to escape out the back side of the pocket and then the linebackers will be as well because he can set that goodhart edge and funnel things back inside where these lower linebackers can clean up the job a lot better. That is the voice of Craig Greg Stout you can catch him on twitter at barley hop. You can catch his fine work at ARROWHEAD PRIDE DOT com. We call him. The renaissance man have a good night..

"The chief of Arrowhead Pride Dot Com Rocco's working on some things behind the glass and I'm joined Bharat by our lead film and draft analyst. Hit Swanson after the chiefs. Defeat the broncos pretty soundly we we had the post game sound of Von Miller a broken and defeated man hate to see it as we do each and every week we are going to get in system chiefs news. Let you know what's going on with the injury or a huge acquisition by the chiefs this week in Terrell suggs. But first let's go back to that game. This is something I like to do. A twenty three to three win. Now that it's had a few days to marinate for you can't you've been able to swallow it you've been able to talk to your fellow nerds Craig Stout who will hear from later Matt at Lane. How did you feel about this convincing? Win for the chiefs It's it's about as good as I felt coming out of a game and that's including the Patriots game and I know that's weird to say but I think what you saw is a dominant performance on both sides of the ball. I the chiefs came out and they showed some really explosive plays they Offensively look like they're starting to click a little bit. I think they kinda shut it down as they typically do late in the game the the second half they just kind of shut it down and working to show too much but but I think you gotta feel good about where this team is heading. Because mahomes looked as good as he's is he has a long time and the defense continued to dominate. And I mean they gave up less points points this time around. They did the first time. And we were really encouraged watching them. Play the broncos on thirty on Thursday night football giving up six points I e across the board you just you got to feel great about where this football team is going. Yeah I I look at this year and you go through it rights right so you you look at each quarter good start at a little bit of an up and down stretch in the middle and now you're starting to come into your own again. I think what jumps out to me is for the first time in a long time at the end of the season. You're starting to feel really really good about the team. Like their wins at the beginning right but in the Jacksonville Jaguars game mahomes hurts his ankle and he doesn't look right the rest most of the way and you lose tyreek Hill. You weren't sure when Chris Jones was coming back. Lose Frank Clark for two games. I think seeing that a game on Sunday with Tire Matthew leading and actually really good defensive unit and against the chiefs and special teams not making mistakes. Patrick Mahomes finding tyreek Travis Kelsey being Mr Reliable back to Patrick Mahomes and the fact that he looked and he had the swagger of the MVP we saw last year. You hadn't seen much of that this year. There there's been little moments where you're encouraged you see the glimpses of the things that made him the MVP last year but the adversity that he specifically Patrick MOMS has had to to face this year. Going through a variety of injuries with the high ankle sprain early then you know the dislocated kneecap coming all the way back quickly from that in it. This team the cheese with Andy. Reid of always peaked at the worst time. They never looked like they're playing their best football ball late in the season. It feels like they might be trending to playing their best when it matters the most that that that could ultimately be what pushes the team over the Hump finally and I think the the competition in this game mattered as well to just a it was almost like a state of the chiefs organization right because pre Patrick Mahomes. Alex Smith was there. FOR PART OF THIS THE DENVER broncos continued to dominate this division dominate dominate dominate dominant. Until Peyton manning finally retires and then all of a sudden things open up and you've now beaten the broncos nine times in a row and you just look. Look at how demoralized von Miller was. I mean look if you really think back and if you are a hardcore fan you remember it. Von Miller smiling having fun every game Broncos going on the runs making the playoffs every season. That's where this team is. They are dominating the division there a sure bet to win it every your time. And that's exactly where you want to be in this game against the broncos are against the chiefs meant something to the broncos were talking they were energized is by drew. Lock Portland Sutton was talking about how they were going to shock the AFC west and shake things up in the AFC west. You saw how defeated like you said. Von Miller was this game meant something to this football team and they got obliterated and it could have been worse. It could have been worse so you gotTa feel good about where we're the cheeser rat right now as they build towards January and the outlook of this of this division they own this division. Now it's fun fun. It's it's well deserved for cheese. Fan Base that hadn't seen back to back. AFC West titles. Now they got four in a row. I said this on the mid day today with bank and this is something I'm starting to see and I just wanted to bring it up for. AP Radio as well your member your royals fan to Ken in Twenty fifteen when these guys start saying seventeen thirty eight and every enter they start getting on base and motioning towards each other. They're smiling. They're dance in there laughing. You saw Patrick mahomes sliding being on Sunday in the snow and doing a little Shimmy shake you see these guys doing snow angels before the game demarcus Robinson is throwing snowballs There's genuine fun being the hat. And it's GonNa be a fun ride because these guys not only believe in each other they like each other and again as we said. They're playing while at the same time. You're starting to get that fifteen. Take the crown type VIBE. I feel yeah and you got your Ben Zobrist because tire to hopefully potentially I mean maybe not the same impact because yeah I mean suggs is a good player but I mean that was that was a significant one but as you got that lay energy that push that that little that little jolt towards the end that you know help help Kinda take you over the top like the royals. Hopefully this is what the thrill slows can do for the chiefs. Those are our thoughts on the game. Let's get into some chiefs news. The first thing is first. And that's the injury report chiefs playing the bears on Sunday night football just a few days away so far Andrew. Wylie was the only player on the fifty three to not doc practice. Today he solicited with an illness an ankle and shoulder. The third chief now might have Frank Clark Guy Damien Aiming Williams battle that he was held out of the game. I don't know if it's the same exact illness but widely supposedly held at because of his. He was ill sill dealing with some injuries. And then Mojo clayborn and Rashad Fenton. They both returned to practice albeit limited. They've missed the last two games Damian Williams back in the Miss Nicks after the sickness. Sicknesses no longer longer listed. So he's still just limited with the rib injury everyone else was a full participant including Terrell suggs. Before we get into that which we will in a second here good to see the cornerbacks I think think back in the mix. Yeah I mean any time you can add a little bit of depth ear. They had to bring on Alex Brown from the practice squad to try to provide depth with shod in Morris Claiborne. So you've got that limited participant. Obviously we're GONNA need to monitor how claiborne and fit and go moving forward but you definitely want these guys healthy and ready to potentially contribute or provide depth for this football team towards the stretch running. It looks like these guys are heading direction and the chiefs are winning without him. Six PRO bowlers. Also named to the chiefs Frank Clark McColl Hartman. tyreek Hill Chris Jones Travis Kelsey and Patrick the homes too obvious snubs in Tire and Matthew and Mitch Warts Mitch Schwartz get snubbed every year and you can't leave a player entire and Matthew who will be a legitimate candidate for defensive player of the year. I'm not saying he's GonNa win it but in the mix for that you can't leave him out of the pro bowl. That system needs to be fixed. I don't think there's anything really else to be said about that. I one thing Tom Pal. Barrio did poll twenty five. GM's Today for an article that he released article deigned tr- Tire Matthew. So you got one defensive player of the year but they go I mean there. He's highly regarded. I don't know how you can. You can get rid of him. He's been playing greatly. So that's the injury report we know about the pro bowlers WanNa get into Terrell suggs. We know the story. Now last week released by the Arizona cardinals seem like a mutual thing puts out there that he only wants to go to the Baltimore Ravens playoff teams out there. They hear that as a what do you mean the going to the Ravens. Are you talking about so the chiefs amid a claim remembering okay. Alex OKAFOR's out. For the year he just tours peck. So the saints and the Seattle Seahawks and the San Francisco Forty niners. What does does that tell you? This guy can still play. He can still be an asset to the team. Those are three teams super bowl aspirations and then we're not just talking about. Oh they may be in the mix and kid go on and run the playoffs. No these are teams that could feasibly and almost expectedly will be in the mix there in the NFC. So the chiefs win suggs because of of their titans lost and the titans actually beneficial Ryan. Tannehill can't your initial reaction to hearing suggs wearing the red angle. I think this is a as has good of an edge player as you are going to be able to to get this late in the season. I think that's the reason that she's fans should be excited about him. You know what were the options going to be. If they weren't aren't able to make a claim on a guy like Terrell suggs was five and a half sacks. This season has not played less than forty snaps in a game that he's played in the first thirteen so he's durable. He's a guy that's it's good against the Ron. He's a guy that can disrupt the passer. You weren't going to find anybody like that on the market out there in in free agency street free agent wasn't going to provide that same kind of jolt. This is the guy that's won a ring that's got experience has got a lot of experience. I don't see any downside. I think this could really help this football team this home stretch and I I think he could make an impact on the field to this is this is a fantastic move. You have to be excited if you're a chief's fan because this is as good as you were going to get this late in the year. It's a fascinating story you too. I mean you'd think about it here. It would almost be equivalent of like Tony Gonzales wanting to rejoin the chiefs at the end of his career. Here but he ends up going to New England because they claimed him and now he might prevent the chiefs from going to run. It is a fascinating story. You could imagine that moment in the AFC title game in Baltimore. It's a war. Where Terrell suggs keeps Lamar Jackson out of the end zone? It is going to be a huge thing. It's going to be highly talked about..

Nobody cares about their candidacy anymore and so they're getting is outrageous as they possibly again and they're they're both on the on the gun grab thing they wanted to confiscate your guns. It's nice over here here. She gets escarpment tweets and his behaviors about this are just further evidence of the fact that he uses his power in a way that is designed to beat people down instead dead lift people up frankly when you look at what he's doing today directed at the whistle blower directed at so many people you know I frankly think I think that based on this and all we've seen him do before including attacking members of Congress that he frankly should be his twitter account should be suspended. I think there is plenty a of now evidence to suggest that he is irresponsible with his words in a way to harm to other people and so the privilege of using those words and that we should probably be taken from him but doesn't that play into the hands of you know what I don't know how many twitter followers he has. I think it's in the range of sixty million who is they will look okay now. You know the the rich folks in Silicon Valley are just trying to silence me and taking me off. I'm sure that will that will have to agree that smart way. Anyone and that's my point what we want to make sure that his words do not actually result in harm to anyone words. They're only words and words are all.
