Fresh update on "kansas city chiefs" discussed on Bet The Board

"We'll call two two and a half more or less the consensus. This total has leaked out from a low of 50 and a half 51 where it opened out to 53. And the Kansas City Chiefs have now won 26 straight games during the month of November and December. It's the longest streak in NFL history, but when you look at Kansas City from a point spread futility standpoint against the AFC just one in 8 in their last 9 games. The last two meetings between these proud franchises, the bangles have gotten the better of Kansas City, week 17, winning 34 to 31 overcame a 14 point deficit, a late game winning field goal from Evan McPherson as time expired Joe burrow 30 of 39, 446 yards for touchdowns. Jamar chase went absolutely bonkers. And in the AFC championship game, this was an even bigger comeback for the bangles who were down 18. It did tie the largest comeback in conference championship history. Joe burrow in that contest, 23 of 38, 250 yards who touchdowns. Patrick Mahomes picked twice, no greater illustration of the chief struggles than the entire second half where they were completely bottled up before they went into the half, not being able to put points on the board. This is a Cincinnati Bengals team that has been point spread darlings. They're now 16 and three against the number the last 19 games, including the playoffs. Best in the NFL during that span. They've covered 8 of the last 9. They've covered 7 straight as an underdog, including the playoffs, which is the longest active streak in the NFL. And Joe burrow starting to get mentioned in that rarefied air from an ATS standpoint with the likes of elite quarterbacks, 27 and 14 against the spread. Third best by a quarterback since the 1970 merger with a minimum of 30 starts. You're a Patrick Mahomes guy. Patrick Mahomes has said all the right things about how important this game is to them to try and erase and exercise some of those demons. When you look at Kansas City's offense against the Bengals defense, do they have the pieces to exploit what luam or uno does or doesn't do with his current level of personality? Yeah, another really intriguing matchup and I think past us the overwhelming majority of listeners and fans this week are king on this one. The two matchups last season when you have both the games. The starts and finishes were polar opposites both times. Andy Reid came out with these electric scripts and game plans and Patrick Mahomes was virtually picture perfect and in both those first halves aside from the final seconds in that second matchup, but the chiefs scored 28 and then 21 in the first halves of those match ups last season and again could have been far more in that AFC championship game. We know the debacle there around the goal line before the half. But the chiefs were held to 6 total points in the second half of both games combined after those Lou anarumo adjustments you referenced there. Unless you're in that bangles building, you really don't know what luanna rumo is going to do or when he's going to drop the in game adjustment that could flip it on its head. Is he going to come out from the onset? In what he employed last year during the playoff game? Is he going to wait and bring something else out? It's really interesting. The chief's offensively have been better metrically than any season except the 2018 Reed mahomes combination. That's surprising, I think, to some, the offense has been electric and really I think when you kind of factor in that in 2018, defenses weren't as hip to playing passing offenses. They weren't doing some things by stacking their rosters with faster, more athletic parts. You might actually say that this is metrically been the best offense for the chiefs, which is stunning to me. But you start to think about some things that they do offensively. And they do a very good job spreading the ball around. So you can't really key on as many guys as you once did, right? Because patty mahomes by nature was king on tyreek hill at times. But you look right now early down's first three quarters, the chiefs offense. Number one, in EPA per play. You look at third down and Patrick Mahomes specifically. Number one in the league converting for a first down or touchdown on 55% of third down play. So he's really been out of this world. Now some of the weapons for Kansas City are beat up. No Miko, no hilar, juju probably plays, but is dealing with the flu right now. Tony and jerk McKinnon are highly questionable, chiefs are still starting to backup guard at right tackle. But you look since week 6. The bangles have played Andy Dalton, Mariota, Brissette, Baker Mayfield, rookie, Kenny Pickett, and Ryan. Murderers row murderers rova Lee, NFL quarterbacks right there, you rattled off. In the Bengals are 21st in EPA per play allowed 20th and EPA per drop back allowed over that stretch. So this is a big step up in class for the Bengals. Should I be a woozie, the Bengals top cover corner is out Cincinnati has not played a passing game worth talking about. Went down. But the curve ball here again is, what is Lou Anna rimo do? When does he break out the rush three drop 8? When he pulled that out in the AFC championship game, mahomes struggled. Completed 50% of his passes for less than 2.4 yards per attempt against that rush three drop 8. And you look this season, how the chiefs are running the ball. It's been far less efficient than prior seasons. They're 16th and scheduled just to rush efficiency. Since week 8, the chiefs are 27th and EPA only 36% of plays run plays of great successful.

"The Kansas City Chiefs came from behind to beat the Tennessee Titans 20 to 17 in overtime In the fourth quarter chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes scored on a 14 year old touchdown run then used his legs again to tie the game 17 all with a two point conversion I like fully committed to run at that point But yeah I mean we were just batting at the end of the game We were just trying to find a way to win and our defense kept us in the game long enough to do that In the overtime Harrison butker kicked a 28 yard field goal to win it Greg eklund Kansas City

"Buffalo quarterback Josh Allen true three touchdown passes in the bill's 24 to 20 win over the Kansas City Chiefs In this game there would be no miraculous comeback led by a chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes You can make an argue he's got the best start to any quarterback to ever play this game in the history of the league He's a special player so anytime he's got the ball in the hands you never know what can happen But again credit to our defense for stepping up and making his place Alan completed the game winning touchdown pass with 6 to 9 seconds left in the game to tight end Dawson Knox In the remaining minute the bills forced mahomes to throw in interception and secure the game Greg eklund Kansas City

Chiefs vs. Chargers: Kansas City Defense Looking Weak Ahead of Sunday's Game

"All right folks will this next game that we've got Is going to be against our division rivals. The kansas talk Yeah so let's take a look at a couple of games for them. Their first game of the season was against the cleveland browns. That's who they played in the playoffs last year Let's see patrick. Mahomes put up over three hundred and thirty yards three touchdowns in that game Tyreek hill almost got two hundred yards. Goodness gracious On that game with a touchdown. And travis kelsey seventy six yards with two touchdowns so clearly we know who favor targets are guys from that game tyreek hill and travis kelsey They were pretty comparable as far as their stats go. Cleveland was able to put up a four hundred fifty seven yards. That's a big difference I think the big thing here is the rushing yards in this game in the next game. They they've put up very few rushing yards and they put up seventy two their week. One game against the browns. They put up sixty two week. Two against the ravens. So i'll and then the ravens put up to fifty and the browns put up one hundred fifty three so just looking at this and how close these games are this. Kansas city chiefs team is defense. Isn't what he was no. You can clearly see that. And i'm looking at these stance here. It looks like against baltimore. Game tyreek hill only got fourteen yards leagues. What happened here. So they've they've shut them down. While i think that's you know we put this in here to just show the fact that if we can lockdown kelsey and hill and just moderately. Stop the run. I think we're going to have a good chance and we just need to score touchdowns like you're gonna have to score thirty to beat these

"Gotta go to tire and matthew. I mean if there's any you know if there's any shining light in the defense matthew getting him back the he didn't quite get the hat trick but he was out there making plays in the secondary leading by example void. That she's just got to pay that guy get him sign. Get the man contract especially after the rest of the way. The rest of the defense is playing guitar and matthew signed. He's absolutely incredible and he's gonna make a few more. Plays down the stretch here. That are gonna matter for the kansas city chiefs all right any parting thoughts sterling matt before we hit the sack on this one. Try sleep it off again. I think we're on the same page. Deepens has to be better newbold. M i z on channel. My dad hole-in-one. one tonight. Your old man got a hole in one. That's at least somebody had a good day. Alar fumbled the ball at the end and watching their defense but fell nine thousand yards. But i now if the defense doesn't get better than of different conversation but if you said to me right i got a bet your mortgage. Who's going to the super bowl in the. Afc them them. "How the offense was able to come back because the first half. The browns in my opinion played as perfect as they possibly could. Kevin stansky did a helluva job in the first half extremely aggressive going for on that fourth down. When chris jones had the offsides Went for the two point conversion and got it. They made the the chiefs play from behind day for as equally aggressive as they were in the first half. They just let off the guests. How many times back in the past and we see andy redo something similar. You get a lead you try to run the clock out. Well guess what too. Much time left on the clock kevin's to get think we'll learn from this the thing. The browns played a fantastic game. But just let that sink in the browns play. Nearly perfect in the chiefs. Were still able to come back a lot of folks have. The browns is what the third best team in the afc. A playoff team the chiefs first time with his offensive line against great defense one of the best stevens affronts able to still hang thirty three able to come back just to me the says more about kansas city chiefs than it does. The cleveland browns. That yes how good. Kansas city is cleveland browns. Nothing to be sad about. You played a very good game. She's just better. Yeah i look. I wanna give credit to the browns here because they had a hell of a game plan early executed to perfection right. Stefanski was just looking like a coaching genius. Nick cia. I mean nick chub and cream hunt were running through our defense through the chiefs defense like like a knife through your melted butter like it was crazy it was it was insane to watch except it was the same feeling. I got whenever like lev. Bell used to be the patient runner for the steelers that he was. And you know he's gonna run. He does that stutter. Step thing and you're like you're like that dude gonna get a first down and we won't be able to stop it and we know it and we couldn't do it so i you know the brown looked. The browns lost to a great team. If you were watching the buffalo bills yesterday right now do you really think turn number two like yes you do. Because i'm watching this brown's team and i'm thinking you know what they didn't have some key players to jed rick wills went out to left tackle. You know odell wasn't even in the game at all grant in the safety. I mean they were missing some key guys to you just like the chiefs. They're very young team. they're only going to get. They've got sixteen.

"In a game for the Cleveland Browns gambled early on fourth down to two point conversions they led by twelve points at halftime but the Kansas City Chiefs under coach Andy Reid stormed back for a thirty three twenty nine victory you know how the games again then there they were they were measuring us against them and we were kind of the same and you don't know this for okay chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes finished with three hundred thirty seven passing yards including three TD tosses and he also scored on a five yard run Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield passed for three hundred twenty one yards but had one costly interception Greg Echlin Kansas city

"Now we welcome in a very special guest to the program. Of course tony gonzales. You might have heard of him if you follow the nfl over the last twenty. Five years hall of fame tight end cancer cheese. And the atlanta falcons and tony on welcome to the pod and also want to get right into it i know you're working with tivo stream four k. Well you know tivo from back in the day old school come out with a new four kate streaming where the best quality picture that you can get out there and it's got this great voice function where you can say. Take your your tv. Viewing experience convenience experience with with watching television to the next level or it's in the season starts on thursday. Who is your super bowl. Pick and why already told me kansas city atlanta. I won't say. I might say kids city but if you don't want to but i will say this an nfc. I think it's a no brainer. I don't see anybody beating the tampa. Bay buccaneers the only thing. That's gonna stop. That train is if somebody gets hurt. That's it and obviously the season-long so maybe that can happen but they i mean have everybody coming back. You got tom brady pulling the trigger. They got a year underneath their belt. Now with that offense and you saw what it did towards the end of the year last year. What do they end the season with scoring over thirty points. Last seventy games of the season gluten soup also and a hit on their draft picks. It looks like a so. They have another defense incoming off the edge to help here. I mean it goes on. And on i know. That's not the sexy pick. But i think we that dynasty is right. There and tom's going to go get his eighth superbowl bowl this year. And we plan. I could say the kansas city chiefs. And i do think it's gonna be the chiefs. They did what they needed to do. They went out and rebuilt that offensive line. And now now they have a top three offense of line in the nfl. And if you give. Patrick mahomes time tyreek hill travis kelsey. I just don't think it's too much just like they've been doing the last couple of years but my dark horses. I love the cleveland. Browns a loved the buffalo bills. I think baker mayfield will continue to get better as long as he can realize that. You don't have to talk as much. Go out there and play. I think he can be a great quarterback surrounded by such great town a great offensive line And i love what buffalo's been doing. I think they're poised to make a deep run. Pick up where they left off last year. The quarterback took a major step. Now he's one of the best league i like. I like what buffalo's opportunities are this ship. If you were a player in today's game with kobe going on and the protocols and everything else would you be pissed. The is marketing vaccinated. Because you feel like it's competitive disadvantage. Honestly yeah yup. I would vaccinated so i know this is a political a lot of people though too hot. Would you say it's a football thing. I mean it's it might be political on the outside world. But i think in the locker rooms. It's hey man don't cost me my money. Don't cost me a playoff bonus type thing. Yeah i'd be a little bit upset by. I beg wants you just get it come on. Let's go. We put a lot of other things in our bodies just to get out in the football field. I think it's safe and yeah i would. I would definitely want everybody on the team to get back in it. So we bought their football games and and for other reasons too. Yeah for sure. You played a long time in kansas city. Obviously the bulk of your hall of fame career was there now. They have another tight end. Who's putting up historic numbers year after year after year. New travis kelsey the pig who's the more dominant tight and you or him. Why don't we always get asked this question. Especially when we're together. They asked that question view. Well you know we do when they say. Who's the better tight end. We pointed each other. And that's what i. That's that's what. I love about us being so arrogant. It know what travis is is. He's phenomenal football player. dominant runs rate routes. I think we brought different things to the table You know obviously. I think what called from the position a lot more when i was there as yet the block and travis gets the luxury of not having to block as much especially when i had marty sean. I am addict per meal You'd better bunch of big boy pads on put your hand in the go block that be bitter linebacker where he doesn't have to do that too much. The rules have changed now. So he's going to be able to put up a lot. Bigger better numbers just like all the titans in the league because it obviously they want. Points and defenses are kind of handcuffed done. But i i love travis. I love my game. I love his game politically speaking were youtube and of course you choose or him but you know confidently begin. I like to say i was. I was pretty damn good. And when i got on the field i always thought i was the best. You can certainly make an argument that your career outside of jerry. Rice might be the most impressive pass catcher of all time. You're talking about fourteen pro bowls and i'm curious. You know your last season two thousand thirteen year pro bowler eighty-three catches eighty eight hundred. Fifty nine yards eight touchdowns. Why did you retire. I was i was done. Iran's course. I was thinking about retiring three years before that and so every year. That's in the back of your mind. Football's tough and the amount of energy that it takes mentally and physically. It's exhausting just to get through one season you. I know a lot of fans out there. Sometimes you look at the screen and you say well it. It looks pretty easy. It is not it is a mental and physical drain on yourself and your family and it's worth it. I'm not complaining about it. But i just ran. Its course from me and we were coming off of really disappointing season With with the with the falcons. And i didn't feel like going out there i was. I was in it just to win a super bowl at that point in i. Didn't i knew our chances. That kind of window had closed went to the nfc championship the year before. And then i came back on. I think we want to games. And it was flat out rebuild type mode and they did go to the superbowl bowl three years later in. I couldn't have hung on that long. And so i just decided to hang it up but i still get to be around football getting accommodate. So it's It's the best of both worlds will be lasting real quick ten seconds. If you had one year in your prime with patrick mahomes what would you style on at my peak. I think i would have been up there but that you know four dead. Thirteen hundred yards and stuff. Travers is doing the thirteen fourteen hundred yards. They can't touch you anymore. They can't hit you before they used to make your head before they used to jump on your back like a capuchin spider. Monkey down the field now. They can't even touch it. So i think for sure i would have put up some some pretty pretty nice numbers that those those thirteen fifteen touchdowns and thirteen fourteen hundred yards all right tony. Gonzalez working with pivo four k. Stream check it out for all your football needs and otherwise tony hall of famer. Thank you so much. Join the podcast. Show appreciate it thanks..

"I don't think any of those guys strike me as somebody who might know that they're not making it all. Make it on the offensive side of the ball. I think it's a lot more dicey because of the. I think you've got you've got some packs have been created and obviously with all the editions of the offensive line. You have a pack of guys in sort of backup offensive line spots and then you have a pack of guys in the in. The receiver spots my locks. The offense are tire retail fired. Pringle orlando brown. I think remers is lock. Is your swing tackle. -tuni- creed humphry austin blyth. We'll talk about him in a minute. He's he's gotten a sports hernia surgery. But i think they want him on the team as backup center trace back up. Yeah trey smith lucas. Neang kelsey blake. Bell noah gray. I think michael hartman's gonna make the team mahomes hannie cluttered. Solaire daryl williams. I think jet mckinnon makes the team because he could play special teams as well and michael. Burton your fullback my roster bubble guys algarotti around to rene tardiff andrew. Wylie and i'm throwing them on there. I think damarcus robinson's on the bubble. I think i think kemp's on the bubble yasser durant jody fortson cornell pow and dury's fountain and darwin tonks and those are my bubble guys on offense and i think maybe between those guys you're looking at maybe three to three to four spots. Probably if you think one of those guys we mentioned earlier is going to make the team on defense. You know if you're gonna end up with roughly twenty. I mean that's why it's a fifty three man roster right. It's it's twenty five guys for offense. Roughly twenty five guys for defense and your kick or your punter in your long snapper so for me. The interesting one here obviously demarcus robinson. And i think it's because like i think a lot of people have him in is locked because he's been around he knows the offense. He's he's fast. Read all those things. I think we need to remember. This guy was on the market. The chiefs did not resign him. He was on the market. Nobody else greece on right right. Nobody else resign them and then they brought him back for the veteran's minimum so it's not like the cheese like we gotta have demarcus robinson back. It's key to our success in the future. And if you're looking at if if you're if you're the chiefs and you're like man if dave dave tobe just the other day was going off about two marcus robinson driving him crazy on special teams returner and we also know that. They like mike user returner. They think he might be able to help out in the return game. He's been back there right. So if you're demarcus robinson your former fifth round pick. The team wasn't keen to resign you. You're making the veteran's minimum. I don't think you're safe. Especially if you're out of the picture on special teams and if you're looking at if you're looking at special teams guys if i'm dave tobe. We know he loves marcus. Camp right so a lot of people think marcus kemp is a lot because he's going to be playing special teams and then they drafted cornell powell and then you got dury's fountain go going out there therese fountain people don't know he was a fifth round..

"Know i. I have the role that i like. My whole career is because of the kansas city chiefs. I got into this. Because i love football and i love the kansas city chiefs in big sportsman. And i know it's been the same thing for you and it's changed our lives. You know your love the kansas city chiefs and and getting into sports and then working fans sided and moving to chicago and meeting your wife and having your daughter like those things. Don't happen without your love of the kansas city chiefs. Maybe maybe not exactly the way they have no well. I mean i'm sure most people who follow this podcast or at least reasonably familiar. But i i started my career. Even though at the time it started a career. It was just kind of an outlet to express my feelings and chief. I was posting as a fan is a fan Santos over at arrowhead. Pride on the estimation site and then joel thornton who you of course know as well Great guy who ran that site for many many years in our entire. Nfl division reached out. It was like hey. Would you like to right on the front page. You know for money in any one thing led to another. I did that for for years. Menchaca paid for it and then yet mccain. the fan sided and got a fulltime rolling and god knows look. If i'm writing about the vikings like am. I getting that fulltime role. I don't know mean you would know who i was. I doubt zach best. But because there'd be inside who started the company which g fans it worked out of course as everyone knows i'm sure can tell by my voice. I am not from kansas city. I'm from new york. And the only reason i choose fan is my dad who grew up in new jersey. I football game. You watch a super bowl for and all his friends in school. Were saying the vikings we're gonna crush the chiefs because they're in the nfl the afl. And my dad. Just wanted to be contrarian and he said i think you're gonna win ritchie. So he watched the game basically to know. If you're going to be mocked the next day at school nine year old achieve one. He fell in love with them stuck with them. When i was born i was born into it but i think about that a lot like what happens if the vikings win that game. My life's wholly different. My daughter doesn't exist. I'm not married to my all all because of one game. January of nineteen seventy. Yeah it's absolutely incredible. And that's what this whole company that we worked for fan sided is about it's about celebrating fandom. And what makes it special and there's a lot of there can be some ugliness and phantom just like there can be in in any other area of life. But i think it's great to be passionate about something and infrared to have meaning to you and to create memories for you that some of the memories that we've had as as chief's fan. I've gone a games together. It's really great and to see a guy like cameron pick up on a on a prayer when you read the story..

"That to me makes sense. Take the money out of it. It's a sunk cost. He's getting paid whether or not right. So why not go with your best at that point. I don't know if they'll end up seeing it that way. But i almost hope they obt again. Nothing against him as a person. He's a fine full of player. he's probably gonna get picked up and start on another team very high possibility. Just when you are so deep. Like kansas city is when you have so much talent like kennedy does along as offense align. You're going to have to make tough decisions. And i think t. Could be that tough decision. Actually that's a great point about the contract. I hadn't really factored that in yet. I do agree. Though i still think man the allegheny versatility bringing live and writer sports hernia. I am not a doctor. i have this. It's like. I remember for attorney as being something. You can come back a little bit more quickly from so we'll see but yeah i i'm with you man. I think it might be time to move on from the. Lv t situation. But it's definitely like you said great problem to have it's going to be one of the more interesting physicians to watch again. I think they roll with a and then have kyle long especially during the theme later on in the season but it will be interesting to watch. I mean inhale. I think durant is even pretty solid offense. I watched him at mizzou. I thought he was a very solid own. Lineman they're you know. This is a good problem to have for kansas city. You're getting to the point where you're so talented that no longer are the chiefs trying to scour the waiver wires come cut day trying to pick up other guys players. Now other teams are scouring. Try to pick up kansas city chiefs once they may they are cuts. I want to move to tied in necks down to four guys now. Jody fortson. Trump's kelsey noah gray. Obviously bell do all four make. The roster is only three making the roster. So i'll tell you my. I i think all four make it. I think they're going to try. And find a way to make all four make the roster. I think they like jodi fortson brings. I think that blake bell brings the bells lot. I think noah grazer lock. And i think trump's kelsey is so it comes down to can they find a spot for jody fortson and i think yes they find a spot for jody fortson. Yeah i tend to agree. I mean this is actually one of the easier easier positions for me..

"Let guys like davison who maybe didn't have the longevity but like those years speak for themselves he was above and beyond when when you have a guy who moves like. Jamal did that yards per carry. Average alone should like signal like man. I didn't even watch him but it's not like he played behind great law. It's not like he was running behind. Willie roaf like priest. Holmes did it's not like he was planned for great head coaches. it's not like matt. Cassel kept defenses. Honest you know. The guy was playing for like a rotation of offensive coordinators. You plan for the worst quarterbacks in ireland until like read comes in the area. He was the most dynamic player to watch. It's like The chiefs lucked out to me to me. Jamaal charles was the most dynamic offense of weapon in the game when he was healthy. The chiefs have that now and tyree kill the single most dynamic offensive weapon in the game. We've been lucky. Have to in the last decade or so So yeah to me. it's. I'm with you except i take it all the way out like i'm i'm so against the hall of longevity that i think frank gore is in no way a hall of famer get that get that out of here no way not. In any season frank gore was never one of the top five running backs in football that he played so even a frank gore place twenty five seasons i would never identify frank gore as like. Oh yeah. he was one of five best that year. No he wasn't he was always. I mean he was always like a top ten back. He just played for forever and sometimes top fifteen. I just don't get his hall of fame case to me. I think he's great good to great for very long time. means he'll get into teams ring of honor or whatever's going on there but but You know to me. How many defense. How many defensive coordinators went into their weekly game planning beyond like. What are we going to do about franken yet. Nobody nobody ever like you were never like shit man. We gotta play frank gore this week. You know right. Julio jones go into the titans. I was like damn it. I don't want that guy in the titans. She's have to play that guy he's really good. I don't wanna have to deal with them. I get even when. I know that the chiefs are better than the titans. Derrick henry can record game he can record game. It doesn't matter. Nobody's ever said that about frank gore and they said that about jamaal charles. I think make excellent points. It's just absurd and you know. I don't know why we cling to this idea that that that well you just you have to play a certain amount of time where you had to have one super bowls super bowl's like those are like their bonuses right. They like their resume adar's but like the idea is how good were you there. Fifty three guys on the team like there are eleven dudes on the field. This isn't like the nba. Where like you can be so good that you can just win a game by yourself like that doesn't really happen in the nfl. With maybe the exception of patrick mahomes. Who's absolutely insane. you know. there's not too many people who could just put a team on their back. That way football it. Just schimmel charles. Todd would not play in todd. Was thomas jones in there. let's get todd's carries. Thomas jones is veteran. Leadership was all about the intangibles plan..

"And i think that's the key. The browns baker has to continue to ascend. He has to be better than he was last year. And if he's if he is if he takes that josh allen leap then yeah they could win twelve thirteen fourteen games. Maybe they're that talented. I'm going to go with. I'm gonna go ahead and give them contender because all my reservations are based on gut feeling and just like also probably just like not trusting the browns to win two years in a row. The second team i wanted to hit and they bet around for a while now but they're stuck behind the proverbial Hump is the tennessee. Titans tannahill still has a lot of detractors in haters despite what he's been doing if you look at the actual numbers. Derrick henry is a monster but much like the ravens. This is a team. That just can't seem to get over the hump and maybe that hump for all of these teams unfairly is the kansas city chiefs. That is just there good teams but they're just not. It's not going to happen as long as patrick. Mom's real ruling the afc most years. What is your take on the titans. Yeah i i liked the titans. I i really think the titans are contender. Campy talked off that ledge. And i think both teams that you bring up are going to be helped. By the fact that i think both divisions are gonna be weaker than they've ever been in recent years so like with the shawn watson when the texans were like completely falling apart you know they were winning the division. The colds always play tough. The titans always play tough. And then you have an also ran in the jags. I think. Trevor lawrence is going to be good for the jags. I think there's promised there for the first time in years but they're not continuing this year. The texans are maybe the worst team we've seen their expansion team at this point And the colds. I mean gosh. if you've already lost your best player quick nelson for the first few weeks of carson wentz. Willie won't be if you believe that. that's fine. i like chris ballard. I like what he's done in. The i think he's built a good team and a deep team overall. But they're not on the level of the titans. The titans have picked the right time to lean in with a bunch of veterans smart coach. Their deep where it matters in the trenches I if they don't go five and one or six zero in their own division..

"He's he's gotta understand that there you're gonna be it's gonna be kind of like one of those procedural shows right where like maybe somebody comes in for a few episodes or few but you have your constant like you have the detectives. You're gonna have andy and you're gonna have homes but basically everybody else like is to have kelsey for awhile and you're gonna tyreek hill but everybody else's pretty much moving pieces and i think that you will have to look at it that way and i think that that's a little bit maybe brett features. Doing here let me just see how the season plays out like. I can still sign these guys. I've got the flexibility and but maybe something happens that changes the game and changes and i. I don't wanna be sitting here being like well. We extended a safety and now like like what what if what if tyreek hill like got some catastrophic injury now. I'm knocking on wood here right but like he got some catastrophic injury and like travis had travis kelsey teams done and and and if tyco was like not maybe not necessarily going to be the same or something like that and he wanted to go and get a big name wide receiver. I think you'd be looking at a big tire and matthew contract and be like man you know like you are so frank clark contracts so i think he's just buying time that's my take on it and i think that's i think that's smart. There's there's no reason to rush into it. I mean there are some reasons to rush into it. You pointed out about the market. But i he kind of wants to see how the season can play out. See if you can get another super bowl and then reevaluate and i think probably this. This year i think is kind of the end of one era. And i think it's going to start setting the table for a new era. Where you've got the creed humphries orlando browns. And and maybe. The noah graze in the future as well. Yeah but do you worry. So here's here's the other side of that right. Some people right like we know them personally right. Some people are so emotionally electric so if they if they interim or if they're part of a group and they are excited or or motivated or whatever the whole room is is electrified by the president's the whole room motivated the whole room becomes lively etc right at the same time that same person if they're cold in some way the whole room knows how they are feeling there's undoubtedly matthew that kind of player right. He's that kind of a presence even on social media he's that kind of a presence and and lately matthew's been pretty mouthy right like he's posting and deleting tweets he's like making his he makes his presence felt wherever he's at and so when he's gone when he's loyal to you he's excited about what is surrounding him then he breathes life into what's going on but i also think matthew takes away life when he is upset right like it's like a mentor. He's gonna turn into a demento yeah. I think there's really something to that for the chiefs defense and the secondary. Where matthew is the motivator trendsetter the emotional heart and we've seen matthew get a little malvy miss off-season create a little drama taken back. Oh i know. I posted that thing but it wasn't about that. Oh i know. I said that but but really we're all good and you know visas had to state multiple times. Yeah we want the guy. Of course we went to guy told you before we went to guy. I'll tell you again. We want the guy. It just hasn't happened yet and so you know to me. I think. I just think he's the kinda guy that i wanna keep happy and you don't wanna have to have guys like that on the team..

AFC South Football Preview: Best Bets, Picks and Predictions

"Kick things off and this may be more two minute drill as we go through the division in alphabetical order. Starting with the houston texans who find themselves listed at a robust twenty three to one to win the division their win total at fan duel. Sportsbook sits at four dollar twenty. Should you want to go under. It's amazing when you look at the houston texans overall profile just a year and a half ago. This very franchise headache. Twenty four seven lead over the kansas city chiefs in the playoffs. We were all talking about them. Maybe getting to the afc championship as cinderella. And here we are a franchise completely in shambles most likely without a franchise quarterback and really lacking direction When you look at the houston texans worse record against playoff teams last year owen. Ten and this is despite to shawn watson putting gaudy numbers but pain rather than breakdown. What the texans don't have on either the offense or defensive side of the ball. should we attacked a coaching. Hire david kelly takes over as the oldest first time head after twenty seven years of serving as an nfl assistant. I'm not really sure what's going on with the organization and we're seeing the market react in a strong manner. I mean this total has been blitzed from under five in this morning. You look some places. And it's four under minus twenty five so like three point eight five the win total here. So there isn't a lot of confidence in the texans. And you start to look at what this roster is and it's tough to find wins on the schedule with who they're going to be trotting out there. I mean we talked about to shawn watson. And how fantastic. He was over. The last five decades seven quarterbacks have had as good of a season as to sean had last year and they finished with a losing record. Only seven quarterbacks. In the history of this league have played as well as the shawn watson team finished with a losing record so an shawn watson texans last year. That was the worst record of any of those quarterbacks so it really just shows how talent void this roster is and somehow you mentioned the new regime bringing in an old coach in cali but the organization really doubled down on that approach and they've managed the impossible really of having the oldest roster in the nfl with below average cap space. It's not a good combination. And so you know you start to look at the four wins last year and how they achieved it and it was still an offense that was above average inefficiency thirteenth. And now you have this. Massive downgraded quarterback and i mean tyrod taylor is what he has. He's thirty two and the best attributes about him are his athleticism his quickness. How fast he is but at thirty two those of all those things and so this is just a monster downgrade. You do look at the schedule of defenses. That the texans will play its. It's bottom six overall and against the oh. There is some hope there. I guess defensively that is going to still be a problem. You're looking at a unit that finished thirtieth inefficiency. The schedule of offense is this year are going to be really good. Can be hovering around the top. Five rate in basically overall efficiency passing offense all of those key areas I i don't really know how this team's going to get to their win. Total and i think that's probably the interesting part about

"I i like because it doesn't just show socks but it shows how effecting the quarterback there in one thousand nine hundred legal asher not great nineteen in the league if you just if you just into saks and where they ranked there. They weren't much better than their hurry. Percentage you mean in fact they were nineteenth. Thirty two shocks there pressure rate again. Now this was a little bit better. And again i liked this number as well. There were twelve twenty four point six about one out of every four times but they also blitzed a lot. They blitzed ninth most in the nfl. So yes. Those numbers were average in terms of socks and pressure rate and hurry. Pressure was a little bit barron average today. The bullets a lot. If you can get those numbers into the top ten or so and you don't have to blitz. All time that's huge. That's a huge step up in class and it makes your secondary better which they might need because you lose brian. I love snead ward. I think is number two corner not more than that fenton. Still a young guy who has not seen a ton of snaps defensively. So if you're the chiefs and you can help out your secondary this year by not blitzing. That's that's great. You're you might need that. Which now we're talking about the entire defense and how it works in tandem and works together. Now we get to the linebackers. The linebackers have been the biggest weak spot on this defense. Everybody's hustling with the everyone's on the stock market. Now people are selling basketball cards. Unfortunately all i have a head my dad send me like the old cards that were down in the basement that i had. I grew up in the really in the late eighties and early nineties. And i think that there was like a baseball card boom at some point you know like when the beanie babies everybody was buying beanie babies and collecting things. All that stuff was happening and so they weren't making a lot of rare cards. They were just making as many cards as possible. Those are all the ones that i have. I do have some pretty cool cards. But i don't think i want to give those up And they're not really worth that much anyway. Really nice foil wrapped barry sanders card. That people are selling for like eight dollars on ebay. And i'm like what do i. Why should i sell this for eight dollars. Like it's not worth eight dollars for the trouble. It's gonna take me to get that done so all right. Let's dive in here a little bit. "Who certainly know the defense who can play rebound oga. Ford does not have the high. Upside of melvin ingram. But he's a solid with. You could do worse than having alex. Okafor's a guy who comes in and plays you know half your snaps so i do think that she's got to cover themselves. And this part on this kind of editorializing on maybe that she's looked at it and say we'd really like getting them and if we can open up the cash face to do so comfortably we will. If we can't we know we've got okafor on the back burner. i still more peeve. Frankly the i. I think losing shot was insane. The amount of money that he was going to call us and ended up costing minnesota. I don't get that like to me. He's the kind of guy considering their positional need value. I would have just said look. I don't care. We need to get that gun. Take care of business. Those two sides had a good relationship after he signed minnesota flat out said. I thought i was going to kansas city so it wasn't like it wasn't like jason have interest in did they just didn't bring him back and i i think with the edge we jones kicking outside. You bring back oakland for. I like my dan a lot more. Maybe than some others. I think he's a pretty good rotational kid and he got taco charlton. Frank clark. of course. I think the chiefs will be okay there if jones stays outside now. He doesn't then. I think there is a significant hole. There but i think that was kind of the plan and they shine gironde read. We're going to give jones a of snaps at there. I'm more worried about corner. I love snead. And i really liked ward is a solid to like live with various award You're one injury away from major issues there. A you better if you ask me other than like injury mahomes or kelsey your health. "There's also another hall of famer think nobody ever talks about orlando. Pace warner never got hit. Cause landau pace could deal with anybody. One on one one of the most dominant left tackles ever well. Now look i'm not saying orlando brown's landau page. Although you're halfway home with the name. I guess but you're the guy now who you're not going to have to chip and help out all the time. That's another thing by the way. It doesn't get talked that when you have a really good offensive line as cheese. I believe will and you don't have to chip you. Get more guys into the patter. It becomes harder to bullets you because all of a sudden we got five guys out in the pattern. We're going empty. We got to be able to you. Got to be able to scheme up. Defensively handle that you a lot of times last year. That'd be okay. We're gonna we're gonna chip at the back. Once guy chips you can grab them a little bit and keep men if the five wide was just going empty and the running backs in leak out into the flat. All of a sudden is a decent job to account for that a lot of times if you're a linebacker you're you're a defensive aggressive. Maybe you're that middle linebacker. It's like all right. Look you're gonna blitz on this plate unless the back releases if the back releases in you have to go with the back now sudden cheech. You don't have to chip. You got to keep guys inasmuch so now you you you go run a route one backer. Who is gonna blitz. Can't it's four on a really good five and they've got a guard you one on one with a couple on top cheech. You're gonna win all day doing that. So i think the offense is in great position and yes you're right in. The line was good enough last year. They win the super bowl happy. They win super bowl. But you probably running back some of that line. Maybe they're willing to say hey. Let's see how fisher returns. Let's take shot. Lost the writer one more year. They didn't do that. Blew it up and now they have. One of the best offensive is in. Football is very exciting for me. "I'd say that pretty low and that's a pretty significant knock against them. Now the one thing i noticed and this actually once i noticed this along with another aspect i started to think to myself okay. Maybe it's worth giving ago so the first thing is apparently reportedly he's been doing tests for the last three months and he's passed them all now that could mean absolutely nothing like he obviously has to pass those tests to get reinstated but it is the off-season and he's shown some dedication you know. At least it seems to kind of stay clean and things like that. So i'd say that's a positive but the biggest thing i noticed this actually really kind of shocked me. He has averaged in his career. Seventeen point two yards per reception. And you know. I saw that. And i was like wow like. Even in the seasons where he wasn't a huge factor in the offense all of his catches were averaging out to these huge yards per cast. And so something like that. Kinda got me thinking. I looked a little bit more and his production over the three seasons that we talked about and he is again. Averaging about five hundred yards per season playing about nine games and so long story short. I would say as they can't body in potential roster spot if he wants to come play for the chiefs if it's the thing where he is really open to the idea of playing for team like cheese contending champion and at least being cleaned for enough time for the to evaluate him. I don't really see a huge downside to simply bringing him in now. You know we can talk a little bit more about nikiel hairy and the wide receiver room After this but that's kinda my thoughts where where do you fall on that Situation i would be a huge fan of bringing him in judge gordon. That is at least seeing what he can do because he's only thirty. I know that's pretty old for football but that's not extremely old for wide receiver right. I think they're still obviously a lot of talent. He's not been banged up. It's been the wheat. It's not like a guy who was perpetually injured right. it's not a guy who's been able to stand there because of injuries because of well smoking though we'd we know patrick mahomes stands on that as we saw this chakari. Richardson how he seems to be all for let him go. The nfl's getting a lot less strict when it comes to marijuana so i think that also goes and josh gordon's favor you know. The talents undeniable. kansas city. They've dealt with a lot of distractions on this team recently. Britt reid obviously the whole tyreek hill. Saga that was another distraction. Do they want to bring in another distraction. Because it's not act like judge gordon's here and we're everyone's going to say all right. Let's forget about his past and move on the media is we're gonna ask we're good to go. I mean andy. Reid is going to have extra questions. The entire team and organization going to have to answer extra questions. Do they want to bring that. In on top of that my main i would say positive. Here is kansas city. Seemed to be very adept at this. They seem to have a very good organizational structure to where they can handle. And it's not going to bother them. They can afford to absorb the adversity and the distractions and they're still going to make it to the super bowl. If there is a team that can handle this. I think came to city. Is it tyrod matthew. Patrick mahomes the leaders on this team. They're gonna they're gonna sit judge gordon down and say you know what you're not smoking here. I pal like i get it smoke in the off season..

"I want to say no. I just being way more. It's hot take if i said yes. I know but my gut tells me no. I think that he is going to be a mentor to an extent. Because i think nick bolton will get the tab if you look at the depth chart i think nick bolan be labeled a starter but we know kansas city. Pretty much runs like a four to five like so. I think technically while nick bolton will be a start on the depth chart he is going to be backing up and he'll be learning from anthony hitchens. I think anthony hitchens having a chance to speak with them. Meet him talk with him. He is a extremely down to earth guy. Very extremely humble great human being. I think he's a great guy to learn. From to the same extent of alex smith being a mentor and teacher to patrick. I think anthony hitchens to an extent will be a teacher and mentor to anthony. I mean to nick bolton so i think that hitchens russia's about safe almost to an extent of letting him he was still finalized. There's no it's not like he was a huge issue. Last year he played very well. Yeah sure yeah. Yeah and so. I don't think he's really in any jeopardy. In my opinion of getting cut released. Sure i just ask the question because the chiefs could go even cheaper there earlier sooner than later and the the the profile of player is such a match there that you know it's like you just have to ask the question and every off season we're kind of blindsided by okay. I guess that was the plan you know like i. I felt that a few times but anyway the just really quickly matt really quickly. The only reason i would say no because who would you spend that money on i. I don't know if there's another guy that they're gonna they're not going to cut hitchens and say all right. We're good no you're not gonna player. Who has a in my opinion. Still a solid player who was a factor a plus and then just have money sitting. I i just don't see that happening. That's what i i just can't. I don't know who they would bring in whether that's Defensive end you know an edge guy..

"He played some injury at the end of the year. He was much much better and he was great. The postseason five sacks in the playoffs last year played fifteen games had six sacks. It's six sacks twenty nine talking soccer no way no way. And you're going to end up going to get quarterbacks. You need like a guy like tom brady you. You gotta get pressure on. You have to just going. I don't care how old he is. He'll carve you brian and do you think that that's part of the the investment in the interior that line. I mean that's the kind of book brady right. Get pressure up the middle. Get him off a spot mess up as everything. Do you think that they were thinking in the back of their mind. I mean you get as many good players as you can right. You're on available. Sign up if you can but do you think in the back of each mind a little bit he's thinking about maybe a rematch with the bucks. Honestly i don't i think it's more about the fact that reader's just there and he's a really good player but also i think more aiming it's about look we can get reading here. Joe's is gonna get doubled all the time but now it's a single up clark more one on one. It should be harder to chip. It should single a burrito one on one shooter. They were playing nadi stern wart or good players. But they're not the pass rushers at this point the read is i mean not. He's a run stuffer right. You look at last year. They know what's good enough. Let's just call a spade spe- you go down and look. I mean chris. Jones led the team with seven and a half sacks down year by his standards. Which by the way still great for an interior russia. But for him. I mean he has almost double that frank clark chicks. Then you'll lose. paseo did nothing. He had a shock weren't and had two sacks down ahead two and a half sacks. I think the of all the guys who you look at and say you might be looking at a sleeper. I think it's dan. Because danny did not play a ton of snaps last season. But that's the one thing that you know you see we'll only two and a half sacks okay fine sure..

"And it's just gonna be one of those sleepy like our in tennessee. Who the hell cares. And derrick. Henry rushed for one hundred sixty yards and they lose. And then you gotta hear about all the. Is there a chicken the arm and then she's on rip off seven straight wins that that's how i see you when you look at it. It doesn't seem so we know how difficult it is. Obviously just because so many things can go wrong. it's football. it's a weirdly shaped ball that stuff but when you look at them. Last year i mean they. They went in my view. They went fourteen right like that last game. Throw it out. I think the homes is playing. They would have beaten the chargers but you never know they could have slipped up but they lost it in my view last year. They lost two games. They were trying to win. That was that raiders game and the super bowl which is incredible. And this is. This is the season after they won the super bowl which historically teams do not make it back a little bit of a super bowl hangover. Right so i think we all agree that they didn't play great last year. They didn't play up to their standards. And every game they they drove us a little bit crazy but they always found a way to win from a mentality standpoint. How is this team differ going into the season because for me i feel like if there was a season where they would have a chance to go undefeated. It would be this season because from mentality standpoint. You got a lot of guys coming back. That are pissed off pissed off that they lost super bowl pissed off about the way that they lost the super bowl. And so maybe whereas the twenty twenty cheese kinda thought like yeah like You know it's all about the super bowl for us. We just need to get to the regular season so they sleep walk through some games. They turn it on they win. Could we see a team this year. That comes out just there. I think for a team to go undefeated..

Is Juan Thornhill Back to His Old Self?

"About this first year. One thornhill or second year one thornhill. What are you asking like. what's his most. Who is he is what you're saying. Basically like who what do i. What are we going to see this year. First year one thornhill. We saw him. I think take a a big step forward or closer to his first year performance towards the end of the season and playoffs. He struggled so mightily this second year. I mean dan soaring through was out playing him and the playoffs though he looked to be back to his old self he was laying. The would hit hard with the with the hit. Stick i i like one. Thorny on buying him as he's closer to his first year production

Are the Kansas City Chiefs Going To Land Julio Jones?

"Let's talk. julio jones my friend. Because i mean look it's a long shot i'm going to say it oddsmakers think it's a long shot. The chiefs are thirty. Three to one odds to land. Julio jones in a trade which is way longer odds than many many other teams. So las vegas does not think. Julio jones is going to land in kansas city but julio jones is gonna land somewhere and it sounds like it's not in philadelphia this year. Where are you at all this. I'll say this vegas didn't think phil mickelson was going to win this as last major. Guess what a that happened. So i don't know where julio jones is gonna land. I do think. Kansas city actually makes sense. I'm surprised vegas hasn't bumped it up a little bit as based on the past knowledge of how aggressive brett. Vh is the fact that julio jones said he wants to play for a winner he wants to play for a contender. You sit basically said give me the hell out of atlanta. You know If you wanna play for winter you wanna play for a contender. You wanna play for a good quarterback now you kate. A city checks all those boxes. You have a hall of fame coach. Andy reid i would. I would think that those numbers would be higher. What are your thoughts on this. Well let me kick it back to you with this. Albert breer reported today that basically that would probably take second round. Pick to get julio jones. Now that's it like. I think it sounds good on paper. Yeah i think it sounds good on paper to julio jones. i'm probably in the conservative camp of. I think the chiefs are already more loaded than any other team out there. They've already gotten their the last two years. I don't care what the bills in the browns have done. The chiefs are gonna make mincemeat of them. Whatever they play so. I don't know that we need julio jones so so you know to me. I'd rather keep that second round pick

Bashaud Breeland Is Unhappy About Something

"Is a real fire here. The shod breeland d like he went to go visit the minnesota vikings. There has been nate. Taylor who i love. Nate taylor of the athletic has put it out there. That like saying there's really real sort of indications that the cheese have been interested in bringing him back and he wants to be back. So like i mean are you reading these tweets thinking they are all based on the chiefs and and maybe some things up there. I i'm reading it based on a guy who has played really well if you look at some of the underlying numbers that put him in. I don't wanna say elite although the numbers have actually been elite but we're not going to say he's but put him in that bottom end of the cornerback one top in cb two range and he's getting paid for the past multiple seasons as if he's on a one year proven deal. I think he's just realizing you know what eventually had to stand up and say how many one year prove it deals. Do i need to take before eventually. I'm going to be too old and in the rest of my career is going to be one year deals. i think it's just. He feels he deserves to get a. And i'm not saying a ridiculous contract but he does deserve to get some security. Whether that's a three year. I don't know twenty million dollar contract. I think he has earned that. And i don't blame him for being sick of one year deals. I guess that's where i'm coming for. As i i would understand that when you're looking at some of these numbers and ought to pull up the stat. And he was above like to gilmore and somebody's great cornerbacks. You're like the only thing you can say is penalties at some point. You have to pay for how good and solid. He has been.

Kansas City Chiefs Have Laid the Foundations for a Great Future

"Tell you the other team. I'm excited about because a complete overhaul. Their allied is at kansas city. Kansas city out was bold and released both of starting tackles from the previous super bowl. Which i think was not popular at the time. But they continue to show that they had a plan and they went out and they were aggressive in free agency You know they got the deal. Done for orlando brown. The added a tiny All of a sudden you got joe. Tony orlando brown at end. They drafted humphries in all of a set. You sign kyle. All of a sudden. Trey smith who many people thought was going to be a first a second round fail to you in the sixth round because of medical. And you start to look at the competition now and there's gonna be a very competitive in rooms with a lot of talent. Their own iram intriguing and the factor with all that talent. All that competition in ally room is that they got one helluva coach. Andy acts that. It has a tremendous track record development. Getting the most out of off its alignment
