Trump and DeSantis Dominate in Latest 2024 Election Poll
"Who's the chief pollster for Rasmussen, joins us now, Mark welcome to the program. Hi, good to be here again. It is definitely a lot of numbers. Yeah. That is so I have all these charts and graphs in front of me and why don't you just start with the most significant and we'll work our way through it. We did this poll and it was a sponsored poll so everybody can go to our website and download the stuff and look at for themselves. There's like 20, 25 questions here. Really dense, but the poll was done for one very specific reason. Our sponsor for this poll, Larry word from political media. Was really sick of the infighting that he sees on the conservative side, and he thinks that desantis is perceived to be very favorable among Republicans just as Donald Trump is. And that potentially together the both of them on the same ticket might be better in whole than in part. And so that was what we set out to prove. And I think we proved it pretty resoundingly. So we started by setting a benchmark of how would Trump do alone in a 2024 rematch against president Joe Biden. And Donald Trump beats him 48% to 41% in this poll, which is in line with what we saw about a month ago when we ran that same question. Then the next thing we did was we said if Florida governor Ron DeSantis was Donald Trump's running mate against Joe Biden, would you vote for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris or to Santa's Trump? And now, Trump does better. So we have Trump and desantis beating Biden and Harris, 51% to 43%, which is a slightly larger lead 8% instead of 7%, but it gets the Trump ticket over the 50% hurdle, which is very important.

This election is going to be won or lost with a couple of 100,000 people, so called swing voters in a handful of states and the problem with Donald Trump is there are Republicans are of two minds. There are those who love, love, love Donald Trump, and there are those who love, love, love what Donald Trump did as president love his policies. Loves America first policies. But feel for reasons that are sometimes and maybe I think mostly entirely unfair, there are people who would not vote for Donald Trump if he walked on water. They'd say he can not swim. And that is a reality. So the question is, if you feel that way, if you feel that for whatever reason, unfair or not, that a substantial percentage of the population will not vote for Donald Trump because he's Donald Trump. You want to go down swinging, you want to go down with the possibility of reelecting Joe Biden and him handing over the baton to Kamala Harris and her finishing out his term and then perhaps having two more full four year terms, that's the risk that you're running. So if you like Donald Trump's policies, if you're pro life, you want the board of secure. You love the Supreme Court Justices and then lower court justices. You support school choice. You don't believe in the spending. You want to roll back taxes and regulations. But you want somebody who's likeable enough to carry that message and win against November Harris in November 2024. Biden to huddle with top donors as 2024 effort kicks off

The president and vice president were hosting about 150 of the Democratic Party's top donors for dinner Friday evening and a weekend strategy session, the event itself is not a fundraiser, and it's not clear how many attendees have cut checks at this point, but these are the high dollar donors and fundraisers who will tap their networks to help fund Biden's campaign over the next 18 months. New Poll Shows Even Democrats Don't Want Joe Biden to Run
"Turning to President Biden, as he gets ready to declare his canon C for 2024, he's doing so in a really negative environment. One in which his own party no longer supports him. Just really stunning numbers to tell you about. These are from NBC News, a new poll showing that the majority of Democrats, they don't even want them to run. In fact, the majority of the country doesn't even really want him to run. Let me share with you the numbers. 53% of voters who supported Joe Biden in 2020 say they believe the president should not run in 2024. He's really failing with young people. Young people are like, wow. This is sad. You're like an old panda that's gonna get put down. This guy's a little too old for me. 76% of the people under the age of 35 that would vote for him say, they don't want him to run again. Meanwhile, there's this other poll by NBC News that shows in a head to head match up a Republican would fare better than Joe Biden. Look, if I'm the Democrats right now, I'd want to have a heart to heart with the guy. I'd want to say, who you got that you could sort of annoyed here and maybe help. He's not going to go for that. I mean, he is a political animal. And I also think in some ways that brings on a new set of problems for them because who else are they going to run them? And Kamala, that for sure. That would for sure give the Republicans the victory that they want in 2024 if they were to run Kamala Harris because her negatives are off the charts. Her inability to really showcase what she knows, if anything, is also off the charts.

"The frustration internally out here comes the person who's getting thrown under the bus is directed at Tina Flournoy Harris, his chief of staff, a veteran of Democratic politics, has been working for her. Began rather working for her earlier this year. Let me pause here on this piece. One of the things that stands out about Kamala Harris that bears repeating isn't mentioned enough. Is that almost nobody who works with her? I don't think anybody who works for their has worked with her for a long time. She's most of most, if not all, of the people who work for her. Now, uh, only began doing it late in the campaign or now working in the White House. That's it. It's very unusual, you know, usually get specially these high profile politicians. People worked for them for a long time. People are loyal to them. You really don't have many Kamila Harris loyalists. And that's a towel. That's a tell when the people who work for you do not like you if you have high turnover. And your staff. It's a sign that you're not the type of person that people want to be around. Um Sheila Jackson Lee. Very famously. The congresswoman from Texas is perhaps the single worst Boston all of Congress. People hate working for her. The turnover on her staff is ridiculously high. And it has been for years. She's like berating interns in front of their parents. She's you know, I don't know that she's done this, but she's a stapler. Chocolate chucker, you know, like the kind of person is going to throw a piece of office equipment at you if they don't like what you did, or or the coffee is too hot. Whoa! There comes the stapler. Uh, apparently Sheila Jackson Lee, very much governing governing her office like that, Kamala Harris. Things are not good in there. Not good, And now you see this name pop up early in this political peace. Tina, Florida, her chief of staff, Okay, How long does team at last? Is she getting thrown under the bus here? In interviews, political reports. 22 current and former vice presidential aides, Administration officials and associates of Harris and Biden described a tense and at times dour office atmosphere. Aides and allies, said Flournoy in an apparent effort to protect Harris has instead created an insular environment where ideas are ignored or met with harsh dismissals and decisions are dragged out. Often, they said she refuses to take responsibility for delicate issues and blame staffers for the negative results that ensue. Two. Administration officials say the VP herself bears responsibility for the way her office is run. "Not gonna have a country anymore. Senator. You talk about other people who have said things but, you know, we hear there had been weeks of misrepresentations about the election. Then he called people to come. To Washington. Then he talks about fighting like hell. People in the crowd are talking about going to the capital, and then they demand to find Speaker Pelosi and to hang Mike Pence. The vice president of the United States, is that not incitement for insurrection. Don't condone any of the language and like I say, I opposed philosophically and voted against overturning the election. However, I think you're gonna see the trump defense playing video of Maxine Waters, telling cross crowds, toe mob Trump administration and restaurants and attack them. They're probably showed clips of Cory Booker saying, Get up in their face of these Congress, people. You're probably see comments from representative of Mar wishing and celebrating the violence that happened to me when I have six ribs broken and part of my lung removed. I think you're going to see all of this and people have to judge for themselves. Are we going to impeach and potentially criminally prosecute? People for political speech. When they get say, get up and fight for your country. Let your voices br has nobody in this country are figurative speech. You could argue that his position was wrong. And then it was misguided. I accept all of that. Did you criminalize his feet? You have to do with the same standard. You can't just criminalize Republican speech and ignore all the Democrats have incited violence. Look in the mirror of Seattle. She went on and on about this being a summer of love, Kamila Harris went forward and said, We should bail out these violent protesters. One of them has gotten out three times committed crimes three times. Including cracking Saul fracturing stone, causing a brain injury. After comma Harris advocated for getting him out of prison. So the thing is is we can't just have AH, double standard. Both parties have to be treated to say, I e think Democrats had any bit of self reflection. There would be saying, this is a really terrible idea. All right. Let's talk about the other issue, which is the one that you raised. I guess a week and a half ago, which is whether this whole procedure this whole trial is constitutional. You offered her motion, contending it is not because you said a former president of president who has left office cannot be the subject. Off a Senate trial. The other side argues that under that standard of president could abuse his power. Quit at the last minute and could not be held accountable by the Senate. For obviously, if it's if it's legal crime he could be, but for a political crime, the Senate would be unable to touch him under your standard. I think that argument ignores the fact that yes, the president can be prosecuted and they think he incited a riot or an insurrection, which is such an overstatement and such a conclusion without any sort of presentation of evidence. All the left wing media just conclusive. The thing is, is yes. They could take him to court that could take him to trial and do it. I think he has suffered under public opinion. His numbers are greatly reduced. And so I think there's all kinds of punishment. We have to look. We've had a country for 250 years. And every other Congress that it was unwise to keep, you know, going after an ex president goes constitutional scholars like I've said that the Constitution says you impeached and disqualify. If the person isn't there to impeach. You can't do either one of them. And so there are constitutional experts say Senator Paul's That stuff before my colleague Paul. That's not quite true. If if I may if I may in 18 76 that then Secretary of War William Bell doubt serving under Ulysses S. Grant was about to be impeached for accepting bribes. He raised to the White House and resigned, but the house impeached him anyway. The Senate decided that it had the authority to try him. And it did try him on that, although a majority sought to remove him to convict him, they didn't get the two thirds. But isn't that 18 76 case of William Belknap. A solid president. No, because we've never reached the president cause we always thought it would destroy and tear up the country and divide us further. The thing is, is when you look at impeaching the president. The Constitution has some very specific requirements that says when the president is impeached, the chief Justice Johnson's shop resign And to me, this is one of the shocking things When we showed up, we found out the yes. Chuck Schumer had called Justice Roberts and this hasn't been reported widely, but he did. Justice, Roberts said. Heck, no. I'm not coming across the street because you're not impeaching the president. This was a strong signal to all of us that this was going to be a partisan hearing with a Democrat in the chair who's already voted for impeachment. You think we're going to get any fair rulings out of a Democrat? This already expressed favor for a teaching and previously and is gonna vote this time to beat him. So it is a farce. It is unconstitutional, but more than anything, it's unwise and divide the country. If I thinks he really if you really know anything about that unity and he really want to be a statesman, you don't even have done. You'd have come out and told his party announced enough. Let's move on. We won the election and let's move on with our agenda. But instead they can't let go. President Trump and they're gonna keep kicking and kicking and kicking. Like to the rest of the country into most of the Republicans. It looks like bitter rancor that they can't get the election. You know they can't get over the election said that I got about a minute left. I wanna ask you a couple of quick procedural questions. Do you think the Senate will call witnesses? How long do you think the trial will last? And is there any chance that the Senate will vote to convict Donald Trump? Zero chance of conviction. 45 Republicans have said it's not even a legitimate proceeding, so it's really over before it starts a Skouras witnesses. I think unlikely to be witnesses. If they do want witnesses, there's going to be so much evidence that the president had nothing to do with this. It was planned previously on Facebook. The bombs were planted the night before. Before attacking the capital who weren't part of the speech. They will be attacking the capital while he was just beginning to give the speech down there. There's all kinds of evidence that goes against them. The FBI's investigating all these people and he will be investigated being a best. How long did putting this in advance inside it? How long do you think that allows Hopefully as short as possible, but this is really bad for the country, so I'm for getting it over with in a couple of days and moving on and look, let's debate policy and let's quit sort of just all this craziness that everything has to be about attacking President Trump. That's why they created the Senate the way they did so that you know it's you got to get some bipartisan buying. You can't just ram it through on a straight party line vote.
