"Here on the radio program Tuesday edition coming up in this hour. 7 35 Lara Trump will join us. Ah, Yesterday yesterday we were On the email were talking to basically the person handles for scheduling. And if you don't know yesterday, both Lara Trump, Eric Trump's wife. And Kamala Harris, Obviously the Democratic VP nominee were campaigning in around North Carolina. So I did send an email to the person who sends me all of Harris is stuff. Lo and behold. Have not received anything back. About an interview. Yeah, because I get emails from people who go wire. Do you interview? You've interviewed the trump kids. All the rest of this. We not only actively try To get people pull of the politically opposite side than the people who we have had on. We would relish the idea. And they would get priority booking. This is what people don't understand. If Roy Cooper's people would actually get back to me. Or if Josh Stein would want to come on this show. If Joe Biden are Kamala Harris or any other surrogates would want to come on the show. They won't even answer in most cases, or they blocked me on Twitter is like the one congressional guy out there in the 11th district did And I didn't even light into him like a bunch of people that say, Hey, you want to come on and talk about Rose has some strong thoughts on stuff. Let's let's be on the radio. So for those you who like to take this time of the year to send me those emails? We can't do anything about the fact that they're cowards. Which probably isn't helpful to get him on. But after going through all of this for all the years I've been hearing it boggles my mind. They used to not have this issue. And I think it's just the evolution of our entire political process. Trying to get people on and especially with the way that I interview people. This is This is non confrontational. So long as you're being honest, you know, kind of kind of thing that you're going to get I'm not here. T do the hardcore gotcha politics during the rest. I just want to talk to people. I was the last person we actually had on. I think it was The woman who ran against Bill Burr. Arbil Burger, Richard Burr. Excuse me. Sorry I saw I watch the bill birthing this morning. Don't hate, um So I said, Yeah. Who's now obviously, you know, running for Congress. So idiot Bill Burns, the attorney, general, you don't You have silly, right? I'm so sorry. I think that was that was the last person I could get to come on. They just won't come on. They literally won't come on. They used to come on what I was in Minnesota every week every week. Michele Bachmann. And Keith Ellison. Think about that. Run the Esso Ellison is the A G there now. He's got some stuff going on, Um Ellison and at the time who had Ilhan Omar's district. He was a congressman from her district. And Michele Bachmann. Who was literally the adjacent district who opposite ends of the earth. They both come on the radio, You know, like they'll scream it people over here. That just doesn't happen anymore. Now they just they just completely ignore you. Which is which is absolutely we call we call it the Tillis. Yes, we do. It's not even a joke. What did he tell us? Because I don't know. I don't Haye is a strong word, but it's a matter of we've done this show. I prefer. I prefer the stuff that Tom votes for, In many instances, yeah, we've done Did we've done this show forever, and it's just this year. Coincidentally and Arab reelection, right when you get that he was a Hey, Can I be in the show? After years of sending requests and nothing, Nothing. And we let him on the show. And then the guy runs by me. Ah won't even stop to talk to me the other day, so We don't have on the show. This explanation brought to you by not Tom. Tell us.

Kamala Harris asks Trump if any of his reported $421 million in debt is owed to a foreign nation

"Today at two different White House events trump chose to take no questions. Thank you very much everybody. Thank you. In just the last hour on this network vice presidential candidate. California Democratic Senator Kamala Harris noted the national security implications of trump's reported debts. The American people deserve to have a full accounting of the financial interest including the indebtedness of the president of the United States and I and I do share that concern who does he owe the money to do you own debt to any foreign nation? Do you owe anybody money who is impacted by any decision? You make as president of the United States the American people have a right to know that when the president of the United States acts, he acts with their priorities in mind not what priorities in mind One former senior counterintelligence official warns the nation could still be at risk even if trump does not win reelection. The counterintelligence concern will not go away if this president doesn't get reelected. Who needs cash imagine what he could do to us with a foreign intelligence service talking about how our nuclear system works talking about what launch codes look like talking about how where a president goes where that bunker is all of the various things that our president is privy to.

"Chatting about our expectations for tonight's debate. Do we? We confirmed our 7 35. So coming up. Why should you have a couple folks on the show? Of course knit during his normal time at 8 35, but 7 35 Lara. It's Laura, by the way, not Laura, is that correct? Lara Trump will join US North Carolina native Obviously Eric Trump's wife. Yesterday you had large trump and then you had Kamala Harris traipsing through North Carolina. You see, the polls are dead even now. Yeah. Which just means these people are going to keep coming back. Sorry. Anybody else already burned out on all of us? Feel the same way you and this year I'm a registered independent ru and I'm like, Yeah, you know. That'll be great. Until I realize that now both parties they're sending me leg more stuff than usual. I don't need more stuff stuffed up. We could get this guy I'm like. No, you can't. But you probably can't. So we'll chat with Miss Trump coming up at 7 35, okay? What a wonderful Lou. Grab a A phone culture has been old through the break. Good morning to you, sir. What's up? Hey, Hey. Why that mentioned something about this debate. Oh, yeah, if Trump unlike the floor with him Okay. But if Biden And and I'm 100% for Trump. What if I didn't really have a problem? You think it's better for him to back off just a little bit, so it doesn't make him look like he's Uh uh, picking on him. We're a bully. You know how the media is? Yeah, I you still have to then yield the position that whoever's being bullied is Weak and so they put a little conundrum there. I heard a couple of my national counterparts suggesting that yesterday I don't know. You know, maybe maybe, but No ultimate. Ultimately, if if you're going to write a story that said Trump Bully. Ah, Joe was looking really bad. And then Trump was being mean to him. You're still writing a story that says Joe was looking really bad. So I don't know if it's beneficial, but hey, you know what, Jerry? Anything is possible, okay? Yes, sir. Yeah, there. There There is. Ah! Literally. Nothing That could happen on that stage today, where I'd just be like died. Never could have seen that coming. You know what I'm saying? They were just maybe within the realm of maybe it might be. Why So you know by news, faltering to step back and let people kind of see what's going on, because so much of that's been filtered out of the media coverage. But both sides this is this is the problem on both sides. So Joe Biden's in there and he's and he goes on a five minute storytelling rant. That's that is, makes sense. And his assailant point There's a lot of people who are trump. People have never seen that. Cause you know they here They here the clip player, the snippets, and that was my point before about not liking all out. Mohammed Ali rope a dope, But there could be he might exceed expectations when it comes to that they could Hey, I just realized I could save you some time. We have to get to skin suit in the hobo murder, hobo. Get up. Steven, get this dude. Police in Greenville, North Carolina, saying armed May a man armed with a machete painted satanic messages in his own blood on a North Carolina sorority house. Tell me more. On officer with the East Carolina University Police Department says they were patrolling the area. Near the sorority houses in Greenville on Sunday. Which sorority is this? By the way? We can see if hot chicks or harassed okay. Uh oh. It's the ADP, the Alfa Delta Pi sorority house. So anyway, So, dude rolls over and says, Well, actually. Here, let me let me read the officers think I was patrolling near East fifth and need streets in Greenville Sunday night, when I was flagged down by a group of people who say they were concerned about the behavior of a man, by the way, if I watch you half naked Painting satanic symbols on a sorority house in your own blood. I am slightly more than concerned. Hi. Not not suddenly stumbled upon every day. He said They found the machete wielding man in distress shortly after disarmed him and quote de escalated the situation. 25 year lead, cut himself on the arms and hands and was using that blood to write satanic messages or verb, Ege. That's fairly non specific on the Alfa Delta Pi sorority house and a Jason Carr. No one in the house was harmed. Police say that He's obviously under medical observation at this point. So machete wielding dude writing satanic symbols. Saves you that, you know, having to get up in your murder hobo outfit. So You know the back story on this one. How do we get there? Oh, Speaking of satanic stuff? I got a whole bunch of stuff today, including. Did you see this story here? Is this guy So this guy's a school teacher. He teaches kindergarten. And he's one of those dudes who has tattooed every square inch darn near. Of his body face tongue. In addition, he did the eye tattoos, so his eyes are black. Lo and behold. They won't let him teach kindergarten anymore. And he is outraged over the idea that you can't go in and and teach kindergartners and it's just People are discriminating against him. He could be the greatest kindergarten teacher in the world. And it will be very hard. To teach a roomful of Children if they're all sitting in their own urine. This dude is scary looking. And by the way, I got a problem with tattoos, de tattoo all day. I don't mind tattoos on on a woman and a nice sleeve tattoo. How you doing that being said. This dude, his one of those guys who's taken it to that next level. That's his thing. He's welcome to do that. But black eyeballs looking like a snake in the classroom with the kids. Probably not gonna work out. Very open minded. If I see him on the street. In my case, it's going to cool. But in kindergarten, you know, I would even probably be okay with it like high school, but you're talking about kindergartners who are already feeling kind of off. They're uncomfortable. Like you said. They're peeing their pants. Yeah, they want you want them to feel like There's a safe place. Yeah, and they're going to be like, what is that? What's going on at if you're still at the age where you're convinced that something is in your closet. Probably you shouldn't be the person that you think is in your closet. A great point. Yeah, yeah. If you if you reasonably could fit into that mold, it's probably not going to be helpful for the kids. Good Lord. Alright, just looking. This guy's picture getting only glanced at it yesterday. Yeah. You're not going to want that around your kid. I don't care how nice you are any of the rest. So And by the way, there's not a not a tattooed rights group, okay? People do not societally. I'd be very, very, very little. Ah, people pushing back on tattoos..

Sen. Harris chief of staff reacts to Breonna Taylor case

"Is Jon Pierre Chief of staff to vice presidential candidate, Senator Kamala Harris and Korean, I just want to clarify your campaign chief of staff not these Senate chief of staff keep those clear. I want to get your reaction to what? Senator Harris is thinking tonight about the. Case for prosecutor herself she has by now I assume gathered the grasp some of the evidence of it. Yeah I I let me say Lawrence that we have to continue to support Brianna Taylor's mom. We have to certainly continue to say Brianna Taylor's name and here's the thing. Yes we have to ask for justice but we also need change. We lead to change the system a system that continually kills black boys, black girls, black men, black women who you know who are. Being murdered and not, and no accountability for for their murders is is is happening at all. So that's something that we have to continue to do is ask for change and you saw that in in Joe Biden's statement saying what what is it? What does police perform look like what his RIA manage reimagining police perform, and that is banning Chuck Coles really addressing Excessive Force and and talking about no knock warrants in a way that we can change that. So that is we have to meet the moment that were in and what Comal Harris was laying out is the contrast the contrast between Joe Biden Comma Hairs Donald Trump look look lawrence. We when the sun rises tomorrow, we will be forty days away from this election. And I know this sounds cliche and I know this is why people may think it's hyperbole but this is truly truly the most consequential election of our lifetime really generations because yes, we are in this pandemic of of of health care and this economic crisis. But also as we were just starting as as you started your show, the civil rights movement really in. This moment the largest civil rights movement in generations and you see a president that just continues to divide us and also justified us with hate and so that is what is at stake. Everything is at stake on this election. So yes, we have to continue to ask for justice but we also have to have change and that is something Joe Biden talking. About, from the beginning of this of this uprising that we are seeing the street that has been put mostly peaceful because we need to hear that message, which is we have to uproot systemic racism that is incredibly key in trying to change what is happening, and so you have to start doing that. That's that's what Joe Biden and Comma Harris's is putting

A couple of years ago, and the resolution always ends up being a positive and the announced of the action itself or the threat of it is what ways on the style I feel like they've they've been under this cloud for a long time and I think that you know. If we see a Biden victory then I think the boiling of this. This is like front and center right now I think that will recede and I think not I know it somewhat bipartisan but it's not a burning issue for the Democrats like it is for the trump administration so that could happen. and. I. Think you know bad news is already priced in Yeah Steve You agree with that the take on on biting Biden being friendlier a friendlier administration. attack. Biden's Agenda for the Latino Community with Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia

"I'm Jim Taylor skinner, and this is the electorate. On this episode I have a conversation with representatives, Sylvia Garcia of Texas twenty ninth congressional. District. Discussed Biden's agenda for the Latino community and what we can expect from Bein Harris Administration including their plans to address income and healthcare disparities and the disproportionate impact of Kobe purpose. Of course, also addresses those criticisms of the campaign around whether their outreach to the Latino community is enough. So here is my conversation with representative Sylvia Garcia. Purpose Garcia. Welcome to the PODCAST. Well. Thank you for having me. If I I want to talk about the Biden Campaign I. Guess these are criticisms not doing enough to connect with the Latino community, and if you think that that assessment is fair or do you think that there's more work to do there? Were you know I think people are just so excited about the Joe Vying Kamala Harris. Ticket that everybody wants some light right there now in their neighborhood at knocking at their door, I mean, they're that excited about this ticket that I think there's some folks who who just feel like until they go come to their neighborhood, it's just not happening but but I know I serve on the National Latino. Council. For by now early supporter I know that from day one joe by his been reaching out to Latinos but I know that we can always do better. Anything that we could do to make sure that we reach more. Latino voters. Not Just in Florida not just in Texas not just in California. New York Arizona. New Mexico but everywhere across the country because if you look at any state these days we have Latinos everywhere we have them in Hawaii. We have him in Alaska. So I think what matters is knowing that that he has started his spanish-language press he started making sure that we we air as much as possible. Eh, he's gotten. The Latino Leadership Councils now in several states, I know I'm working on building up in in Texas because he wants to make sure that he touches the Latino community in especially also is Dr. Biden I think Dr Binding early on recognized Latino vote was and more importantly how important Bill Latino vote was that I know that she had a virtual event with with the would we call the commoditised synagogue Nestle. Which is Debbie Powell from Florida. Veronica, grammar from from Texas and myself were all three Judiciary Committee and people here called on ESCO mothers did judiciary it stock and Jill heard about it and wanted to do an event with us and we did, and now we're going to launch a commodity to commodity campaign to make sure that we impress all our voters that we got to vote until one mother to another. To remind work in our own mother network to make sure that we come out and vote to make sure that we make the change that's needed at the White House. So I'm excited. So one of the things I've found really impressive about Biden's response to that specific criticism is that he wasn't defensive and I think you know right before he visited Florida reporter asked him about. Whether there wasn't enough outreach to the Latino community and buying said something like you know I'm going to work like the devil to make sure that I listen and their vote. So he was open to the idea that there was room for improvement and I think both by an Harris are both consistent in responding without being defensive you know and they bring people to the table. There's a lot of work to do and I think we can always do better and I can tell you Scott along with surrogate were willing to do that. He's he's got a lot of people on the ground. Excited to do that. I mean I can tell you a story Saturday I. Don't do too many in person events, but they wanted me to go to a phone bank and I was assured that were social distance everybody's a math. And I went and the minute I walked in it was about Sylvia Joe Sylvia Joe. Any they know the job blindness running. They're excited because. It hurts them to see a White House that is about hurting people for us in. Texas. It's about what we've seen him doing at the border, but it's also seeing that they're not getting more help and more relief on for everybody on unemployment. It's also about what he's doing to Medicare and social security because that hurts our relief does on our lead us. So people know and they know the to make the change that we need they're going to have to get there in those phones. And? Of, course, the member of Congress I've First Ladies First. So that became their chance. Soviet Joe and I told him I said well, it's not just a joe as it Soviet Joe more contests. So I left him with at Madeira. Very excited. Still, he's fixated on the numbers just 1967 votes, so a really narrow margin and so for me for the last couple of years, it's been staring at those numbers. There are so many what ifs. What if Hillary Clinton had run a better campaign? What if there had been better turnout in the city of here? But words also gives the trump campaign credit for its use of digital targeting for getting people to make personal contact with friends to find new voters for trump factor in their social media presence in their online presence, and the kind of targeting they did, in some cases with the help of foreign actors and others, it had a very significant psychological role. What says the Democrats goal this year is not to mimic that Trump campaign. It's to build on the enthusiasm Democrats showed in the 2018 midterms and to reach beyond the traditional base. To that end, Erie County Democrats have set up field offices out in rural communities. Words talked as he unloaded boxes of lawn signs from the back of his jeep bed once not jobs. We've made a lot of efforts over the last two years to really talk to connect with rural voters. And these offices or an opportunity to help us put some roots down in places that we should have been for a long time. As for Democratic strongholds, voters are highly motivated this year, he says, and having a woman of color Kamala Harris on the ticket helps boost energy as well. He adds that with co vid driving unemployment up to 14.8% in the county. That should also give some blue collar voters who backed Trump. Last time. Second thoughts now to the GOP effort stickers these, you know, ceramic coasters styles, you know whatever, and hats. We've just gone through. That's county chairmen viral Salman 73, year old retired school superintendent and farmer showing off Trump merchandise at county headquarters. They even have trump 2020 masks despite the resistance of many trump supporters to wear them. Both Republicans and Democrats are having to find new ways to reach voters amid the pandemic. One GOP tactic Trump Boat Regatta Out on Lake Eerie What Salman says they're still doing is much old fashioned door knocking as ever, maybe more if there's a newspaper box out by the road, put it in, but otherwise they go to the door and knock leaves the bag on the door. Somebody comes They stay, you know, way back and with mask on and so forth. Democrats, meanwhile, are being more cautious on that score. Salman says he thinks voters see Trump as better at rebuilding the economy post pandemic. He acknowledges that Joe Biden with his Pennsylvania roots is a very different candidate than Hillary Clinton. There's no Biden equivalent to the lock her up chant at Trump rallies by. I think he's a nice enough older fellow. But look at his record. We've got enough years We've got four or five decades. Is to look at it. It doesn't compare both of these party chairs, no, that Erie County is in play and even with the pandemic, limiting traditional campaigning and providing a powerful political issue, They insist they can still do what they need to do to reach the voters. They'll need to win. Don Gani NPR NEWS Erie, Pennsylvania.

"That's one of the reasons that I was saying that Kamala could be a boon to that vote so like you said. Joe Biden is already connected to Obama. So there's already that kind of like mild influence to get out and vote for you know Obama's Bro but then having an actual whether or not you think she's black having an actual black candidate on the ticket to is just that much more. Yes I see where you're coming from but I don't think I don't think the turnout is going to be there I don't think the youth vote is going to be there. And here's. Where I was going to before it's a trap for Donald Trump because. As you said there's a weakness for Kamala. Where in the primaries we saw this progressives didn't like really believe or they SARS duplicitous as we've been saying, they saw her as this kind of law and order candidate. She's put like a lot of people away. She's she's not appealing to as far as record is concerned, not very appealing to what we would think the blackout would be appealing to now donald trump could attack her in that weak point. But that whole realm is a weak point for Donald Trump Joe Biden. On, Joe Biden opened up his campaign literally the first thing he released from his campaign was attaching himself to the Charlottesville protest where white supremacy. This is how it was framed white supremacists rallied and they targeted this anti-racist protester and ran her over with a car. Buying kicked off his campaign centric himself as the Anti Racist Anti White Supremacist candidate and This is electing a black female specifically Kamala Harris is just centering it on race that much more, and this is losing ground for Donald Trump period. No matter how you slice it is losing ground for Donald. Trump if donald trump does go after the weak spot that you pointed out, it's just Going to take himself into a battlefield where he loses. And so. Recently very recently it seems he's going in eight then yeah. Yes. He just did a tweet.

"All right. Well, her his history is a prosecutor that was kind of a big a big story when she was running in the primaries for the Democratic nominee for president few ran it. We didn't mention that she ran against Joe Biden in the. Primary elections. So or history is a prosecutor. Is Unlike. Many Democrats and certainly not what the progressive left would like to see in a candidate. She pursued parents of children who were truant from school would put them in jail. So kids kids who were late or absent from school, she would legally pursue with the parents and potentially put them in prison. She resisted. Resisted an order to ease California's prison overcrowding by releasing prisoners, which is something that would be popular among a lot of the Democrat constituents opposed marijuana legalization in two, thousand, Ten and two, thousand twelve, but she since changed. Position on that since she famously told I believe it was hot ninety, seven and Charlemagne. The God that she was smoking weed in college while listening to to park and Torres Bi and snoop doggy Dogg Yup before they hit even became musical artists. Went to school. So I do look us up. She went to school law school in Nineteen eighty-nine and snoop dogg's for seldom nine, hundred, eighty three. So this is not her undergrad that you do for three or four years. This is her post Grad for one or two years, but she would have graduated by the time snoop Dogg came out A blatant lie it's blatant fucking lie. Well, it's possible. She misremembered. You know. Maybe it was when she was working those late nights she had actually. This was one year before the album came out one year before she got that job. So she was actually probably sleeping with Willie Brown smoking joins But this is this is one of many straws on the camel's back for Kamala Harris is the genuineness but going further on her history as a prosecutor, she aggressively prosecuted a lot of misdemeanors she didn't support the banning of the death penalty she she basically supported the death penalty. Her reason for all this that she says now is that she was working to change the system from inside and that she couldn't always go with her instincts. Her client was the state of California and that's what she was trying to serve. So it wasn't her acting as herself. It was more just her acting as a lawyer on behalf of the State of There's also like she was again statewide body camera Weyermann's. She refused to respond for victims that we're abused. By Catholic clergy. She supported bills that support seizing assets for forfeiture. She fought against releasing nonviolent offenders so that they could be used to find wildfires in California. Did, you have other stuff wanted to go through or am I just step on Tokyo history as a prosecutor not I'd gone through my. Big Balloons. So she she got in trouble for like fighting, allow false testimony in which which put somebody in jail for a double homicide when they were actually innocent and then DNA, evidence came out the. Thinks she was like a big proponent of like three strike law that. Would somebody in jail for the rest of their life even when they were had like to police witnesses say they were free And then most recently I think she got in trouble for..

"One hundred eighty day school year. And dropping out of school is really really bad socially, right. So Comma Harris developed a program to prevent a kids from being trump from missing a ton of school. Here's how that program. And here, I'm going to quote from Katie Miller who was quoted in Vox. When a student is regularly truant, the school district I gets involved by sending out letters to parents telling them that the child is missing class. Then, the school can call parents into a meeting with staff and sometimes support service providers to figure out what's going on. The next step is a meeting with the review board where various governmental agencies and social service can be present to figure out what might be contributing to the truancy that then includes a contract that dictates who's going to do what to make sure that the kid can get to school. If all of that those first two steps if all of that fails, the school can refer to see the case to the Prosecutors Office which can then threatened prosecution of the parents if there's no progress on attendance. The thinking Miller said is that by by then apparent has already been offered help but clearly needs an extra push to take it and improved child is attendance, and if apparent agrees to take steps to improve child attendance that the charges get dropped. Yeah I remember that being the the the whole point of the TAC during the primary was you know she's threatening to arrest the parents of truant kids as though that would really help you know like if there's really. A trinity problem apparent being under arrest or something is not GonNa fix that. Yeah and and that backstop made quote apparent quote who has failed to reasonably supervise an encourage school attendance and quote a criminal misdemeanor punishable by a fine or up to a year in jail. Nobody was ever jailed in San. Francisco, as a result of the success of the San. Francisco policy it went nationwide a statewide and calm layers campaign for that said, yeah. Worked in San Francisco It should work statewide. It became California penal to seventy point one and apparently in in some jurisdictions some parents were were ultimately jailed I. Don't know about this is an attack man like like when you have law. At the end of the day have penalties for violating the law and and it seems like a a multi step process that is just designed that only begins to threaten criminal sanctions when you've been offered help time and time again and you refuse to take it that seems like a tough argument to make for me but but there's the the true fact that you know if you're saying nobody was ever arrested under this plan in San Francisco at least than yeah. But people were arrested statewide and it was. Long. Not under her watch but modeled on a law that was based off of the law that she. Right, it's a chain Chimeras has publicly said that she regrets backing that law because she never intended for. Parents to be jailed, and again, you got away that how ever you way that? That's point two arguments three through six all come from her tenure as California Attorney General and they all arise out of the same kind of thing, which is the attorney general is prosecuting cases. The attorney general isn't even directly overseeing most prosecutors. The Attorney General's primary decision here is to defend the state in legal proceedings right, and so these are questions about. Whether and how to appeal cases that you lose. And again, I want to start off with something I didn't know about Comma Harris that again in my view is a real sincere profile encourage and that was in two thousand, thirteen, the California Supreme Court held that proposition eight was constitutional that prohibited same sex marriage in the state of California and Comma Harris said I not appealing to the Supreme Court on defend that and I don't think there's any legitimate reason for us to to defend this policy and so it. was left to the like right wing activists to to appeal the case. This is twenty thirteen. This was at a time in which you know Barack Obama's president was saying I support civil unions, but not gay marriage and Comma Harris said yeah not gonNA defend the policy in court. You don't hear about that but that is in my view putting your money where your mouth is so but then there are questions about other cases that that she did defend a. Tiny bit on Wikipedia as a page that lists and I have no idea why they picked this as a cut off but it is female state of general in the United States and and the records only go back to nineteen, fifty nine. So that's sixty one years. So. In the past sixty, one years I will not ask you to to guess there have been a grand total. Evan. Not, a fifty. Fifty Just women. They can black women but as far as I could tell for women of color three three. Wow. Yeah. It was optimistic on sixteen states have never had a woman as attorney general sixteen entire states regular under seven percent of attorneys general in the past sixty years have been women women of color. Obviously that is what you're saying. It's super cool unfair to pan all of our anger and hatred toward police on this one black woman who's one of like four. Ever held this position you. One might draw that conclusion that but now, but let's look at large has four criticisms of Kamla Harris during her tenure as attorney general, the first. The weirdest to me, and that is that unlike propagate. California did in fact, appeal, an intermediate appellate court decision that held that the death penalty in the state was unconstitutional again, remember Kamala Harris personally never implemented the death penalty on her watch but as attorney general representing the Department of Corrections..

"The first conversation between Joe Biden and Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee offered the California senator the running mate slot on his ticket. We'll discuss that today plus. How are the Republicans and the trump campaign dealing with the Harris pick how they framing the argument against her And finally, their first public event. What does the Biden Harris Ticket look like? Hello everyone. David Chalian the CNN, political director this is the daily DC. So the history is clear Kamala. Harris is a barrier breaker in terms of being the first black woman the first Indian American woman on the ticket for a major party's presidential nomination team. It isn't just historic because of her race or gender though it is that, but it is an American story as Harris will tell you I went back to listen to her very first day on the presidential campaign trail in twenty nineteen when she launched her presidential campaign and she was asked at her first press conference do identify as African American do identify Indian American and her answer was identify as an American. And it is that quintessential American story being the daughter of immigrants that is going to be woven into all of her high profile moments. In this campaign, a vice presidential running mate has three major moments in the public eye. If all goes well, sometimes they can have more if it doesn't go well. The rollout which we are now a day into and so far seems to be a pretty successful one. We'll see as the days ahead emerge with more and more scrutiny for her. You have the convention speech that's coming next Wednesday night so In preparation mode for that, and then you have the debate that you'll have with Mike Pence in October those are the moments and in those moments, Kamala Harris will no doubt tell her deeply American story and one other thing? Kamala Harris is going to have to figure out as how to best be deployed in the covert era of a campaign normally a high profile surrogate. That's what the number two person is and you would go all over the country but with travel basically removed from the equation, no rallies how does the Biden team use Kamala Harris Day in and day out in a virtual campaign world to accomplish the electoral goals they want to accomplish. A couple of other things to watch with cholera Harris now on the ticket one, how is Donald. Trump and his campaign and the Republicans are they framing the argument around her again this is going to be a race between Donald Trump and Joe Biden we're talking a lot about Karma Harris in these hours after her announcement as the VP pick but four, the most part American voters are not going to really consider Mike Pence or Kamala Harris for Kamala. Harris to be probably the most expected pick Biden was going to make for five months of his process of deliberation the Republicans the president his campaign seems a little slow out of the gate settling on a frame it seemed A. Bit Scattershot, get the president using that derogatory term he loves to use for women specifically women of Color Nasty at his press conference yesterday that certainly doesn't seem like that's going to hold all that. Well, you had this notion of trying to call her phony Kamla that somehow because she ran against Joe Biden and now she's on the ticket. She's a phony, just a finger in the wind politician of course, George H W Bush was running against Ronald Reagan but he joined his ticket Joe Biden Against Barack. Obama. But he joined his ticket we've seen that time and again in American history. So I'm not sure that will hold. It seems today the Republicans are settling on Kamala Harris is. That is now the bucket they're using the throw all the Comma Harris oppo into this notion that's she's extreme and that she is GonNa Push. Joe. Biden too far left. I'm not sure that's going to work for them because she spent the bulk of her presidential campaign fending off criticism from the left. And finally, today the first time you see the presidential nominee with their vice presidential running mate. It's always a moment to note, take stock of take a look at the body language. "Though we've had Joe Biden in the past and twenty nineteen, that was accused of. All this rape and everything else with these women and she defended those women saying that she believed them. She believed that Joe. Biden. Did all this stuff? Now she's hugging him onstage. She's is best friend. She's as Powell why? Because she is not standing by Those women anymore because standing by them doesn't benefit her it doesn't matter what Joe Biden did. It doesn't matter if those women are right. And what she believed at the time what matters to her right now is what she believes that this moment that will help her get ahead help her become somebody else helper to get the power that she wants in order to make the changes that she's after that the Democratic Party is after in order to totally screw up the United States of America. Totally screw it up. If you haven't heard about, it's the easiest way to make a podcast. Let me explain first off it's free. During the Democratic presidential primary healthcare was one of the most controversial topics and Harris was caught up in the middle of it. She was an original co sponsor of Medicare for all. Bill introduced by Senator Bernie Sanders which would essentially outlaw private health insurance. Outlaw private health insurance can you believe that one? During one of CNN's townhall event in January twenty nine. With. Jake. Tapper when pressed on the fact. The bill she got behind take away from private plans. Some people are happy with Harris defended the move to outlaw them. So she wants to outlaw them whether you like your plan, your health insurance or not. She wants to take it away from you and give you some crappy plan. That the government wants you to have that they want you to have. She criticized the paperwork and approval process required to make sure insurance covers certain medical care. Let's eliminate eliminate all that and let's move on here said. But later in the year, Harris released a healthcare plan that included room for private insurers drawn harsh condemnation from her rivals including Biden. I mean. This is I. It's. It's totally crazy. This new habit every which way approach pushes the extremely challenging implementation of the Medicare for all part of the plan ten years into the future meaning it would not occur on the watch of even two-term Administration Biden deputy campaign manager Kate betting field said at the time according to. Politico. Sanders campaign managers. or our manager. reportedly set that Harris was walking away from the bill she in Sanders sponsored and that her plan introduces more corporate greed. So I mean think about this for a minute folks do we really want somebody is wishy washy do we really want somebody in there who? Doesn't stick to her guns. She doesn't fight for what she believes in. She only fights for what's going to make Kamala Harris better. She don't care about the American people she don't care about us. You don't care about me. She don't care about any of us. What matters is her Is that something that we really really want. Out on think so. Do. We Really Want America to fall apart and be. Some Third World country. I don't think so. And and I'm pretty sure the American people during when it's time to vote are gonNA come out of the woodwork and say you know what? We don't want any of this and we need to vote every Democrat out of the seat so that the can take over and we can continue making America great in having the America that we're used to growing up in. Because without president trump in the seat. We are going to fall apart. And that's something I don't think any of us want. So. Over here on this format. So with that being said, just like to welcome everybody to the show, we appreciate it. We're just now getting this show up and running over here on podcast mode. Because we've been so busy. We've been trying to get the channel up on. facebook because there's so much to talk about and with this election being so important we've really been working hard to make sure that we get. Everything going away supposed to. And So I mean I I it's just been like nonstop recording and trying to make things happen. But the reason I wanted to jump on here, real quick and make a quick segment. Is Because of the new vice president. Pick. From Joe Biden who is none other than Kamala? Harris. And She is. About as far left I think is you'd WanNa go and SBN pretty much far right or at least Republicans over here. On a political analytical. This. Could this is a very bad thing and we really don't want to see her in Jalan Biden for that matter. But if y'all remember back in the day. In twenty, nineteen believe. When Biden was accused of rape by. Some women. She was very quick to say that she believes those women. And that she feels that Joe Biden did everything that those women said. That he did to to them. Now all of a sudden that she was picked for vice president. It seems like all that's gone away in. It's all. Okay. Now. Why is all that? Okay now, but it wasn't back then. this lady has no morals. She has no work ethics. She stands by none of her convictions. She is. A terrible woman. Who is being pup? It'd. By the big state. She's being puppet it by. The far left she's being puppet it by. ANTIFA. She's being puppet it by BLM. And she is nothing but a puppet on a string along with Biden. If these to get in, we're looking at the United States never ever. Being the same again. This is a terrible terrible woman. and has no business being vice president. Not to mention the fact that she's not qualified. She is not qualified to be the vice president of the United States sure. She's got law degrees and as a lawyer or Anything dealing with law enforcement. Yeah. She's pretty well equipped but to be vice president of the United States, she is not equipped. and. She has no training no schooling. She's got very limited time within. The Democratic Party she has very little time in any type of politics doesn't know how to handle anything that's happening and she's going to be a puppet. And I don't think any of us want to see the United States crumble. Because we have somebody that has no experience within the United States I mean, it's just. It's really mind boggling. And I hope and pray that everybody gets out and votes that supposed to. Because there's so much happening in so much bad going on that I'm honestly afraid. That it's going to get worse and it's going to get to the point where. Our taxes are going to be so high. We won't even be able to afford our own homes. We won't be able to afford to live not to mention how much taxes are going to be put on. All our checks. And she's also a Antigun. I guarantee you. If Biden, in her get in, they're going to do everything they can to abolish the second amendment. And our constitution little by little it's going to be shaved away and who knows what we're going to end up with. She's four. defunding the police. She referred to all the police officers as KKK. I mean, these are things that we really need to think about it's true Americans. Because if she takes over, it's going to be a very, very bad deal. Over here It says on Fox senator. Kamala Harris. who was officially announced as Joe Biden's running-mate Tuesday. Has Switched her stance on multiple issues throughout her time in public life beginning as a local prosecutor in the early two thousands. Those physicians are now back in the spotlight as the trump campaign tries to tag her as phony, which she is. This is one phony lady. And the newly named Democratic ticket prepares to present a united and consistent message. Going into next week's national. Convention. Now Chris Wallace says Kamala Harris doesn't do any harm to Biden's chances of. Winning the election. however, Harris change of heart covers issues like whether the government should abolish private health insurance. Whether recreational marijuana should be legalized in more such switches have invited criticism in the past from both the left and the right with Republicans labeling her as a radical. And members of more progressive wing of the Democratic Party accusing her of not being liberal enough. So they're gonNa Start Molding her pretty much to the way they want her. I mean it's you can tell that this is not a woman that Dick's by anything let it's going to benefit hurt. If sled say for instance. Let's say that she didn't want to abolish health insurance. She's GonNa say that she does now. Because that's what they wanted to say data going to be something that's going to help her. The heck. With all of us I mean we don't matter. We, have American citizens do not matter. what matters to her is her. And even.

"They need to be guilted that need to be silent sit down shut up and listen they're browbeaten and then someone like, Kamala. Harris comes in and talks about how hard she has it when there is verifiable proof that she benefited from slavery and kind of like the low Jones Kamala Harris could use it both ways dye her hair blonde, your none, the wiser doing I don't. Bring that Lolo, Jones Olympics she was at the Biracial athlete and I just watched the recent documentary. She's like hair Brown. By racial now, shing there you go. There's Lolo Jones Olympics now let's look at Lolo Jones today. I don't know if we can find a picture of a little today she looks like she's picking up a Pumpkin Spice Latte, and my point is that's that's Oh Yeah. Totally. Different person. Her playboy. Side to that Coin Kamala Harris could do the same to use it. All right. Here's another issue. As a prosecutor, we're talking about black lives matter in the riots, the violent riots. She kept inmates jailed for longer to use them as cheap labour. She supported the death penalty, which may surprise people and she incarcerated over fifteen hundred people for marijuana offenses. So if we're talking about moving the needle forward for the heads who just WanNa get blitzed she too is not your candidate can you explain to this this to people who may not be up on the the nerdiness of the the prison sentences yeah. I mean, I think that the basic scenario there was that nonviolent offenders were supposed to be eligible for parole after serving half their sentence because if got crowded prisons CETERA and she wanted to keep him in to use for cheap labor. So essentially another. A. Another form of slavery. Right you. Might say yeah she's she's continuing the tradition goes to groups of people. I mean. What's interesting about that is that traditionally you're going to see at least even with trump you've seen a lot of attacks about him being the law and order president and right kind of you know doing not not that actually it was twenty as he even he doesn't do that. Right? Right you know he's not well, he did the was it the What was your name? Alice. Marie Johnson. and His his first step act was actually one of the first steps towards changing the laws on harsh sentences for nonviolent offenders. Right. But at that time, the laws were the laws the judges need to do. They need to do the only one who really had a lot of discretion. Certainly, judges had some with regards to evidence or you know sentencing, but it came down to the prosecutors. It came down to the district attorney for the city San Francisco and what they were doing and how they decided to not only bring cases but what sentences they were asking for..

"So it'll be interesting talking a bunch of people who grew up from a school shooting from six years ago and they'll just somehow tell them presidency but we'll be here to st anyway the NRA. That's a quality program. You can here few years fastback. was. Not. Really a fast fact. It's just a it's just a fact. She is a descendant of slave owners. Kamala Harris. Here's the thing that's awkward. What is Now, I'm arresting registering as it. Can we verify this and I went to snow pts and snow pts? You know they really WanNa. Save false though. And they said unverified well, do you think that would apply that same standard to someone else if it was, let's say Donald Trump's father wrote in two thousand eighteen and op Ed bragging that he was a slave owner I have a quote right here. My roots go back within my lifetime to my paternal grandmother Miss Christie Christina Brown to Senate of Hamilton Brown who is on record as plantation and slave owner and founder of Brownstown that's almost as bad as white settlement yes. which is an actual city he was out there bragging about it the data about slavery. So can we verify not exactly but we know that Kamala Harris hasn't denied it. And even? Your guess is as good as mine will I. Guess as good as her dad's I'm willing to bet he did at twenty three and me ancestor dot. com. So. Proud. She's proud of his love it. Accuse people of being tone deaf because you're white. Man a black man. HR. Bragging about a town named after his slave owner in a plantation. I mean you just think you just think like someone might have did proofread this. You know what? Hey, you know what Mr You might want to re highlights portions and read. That's the best part promote these subservience. Yeah I worked so hard. That's what we want. Also that I did the tanker commercial that's just not do that because they no longer Wanna be associated with this. So here's something that is important to me. We look at everything through the Lens of identity politics. Kamala Harris obviously, she's a wealthy person. She was rate she jamaica right. Slave owner, that's the ancestry. So are we going to argue that Kamala Harris coming here to the United States has faced the same kind of discrimination or or systemic racism that African Americans are claiming experience, and here's also the problem with that. Let's take it a step further because they say you have white privilege you have well, really Asian privileged not to that's the thing because of Harvard and Brown. We're better. Yeah. That is. It's genetics. Everyone gets incoming genetics talk about Asians or better but they. Do. Better. Right I mean we're taking over. The years like nineteen, billion of them. I. Don't know why. But your people are fertile bill. You look at them wrong to get pregnant. So you want to say we're going to read a lady who came from Jamaica. The descendant of slave owners has it worse off than let's say someone from West Virginia, who is not the descendants of slave owner was raised in poverty. You know what? Let's use I'll use myself as a very specific example because we assume that all white Americans are the beneficiaries of slavery in to some degree or another and that black people today today in two thousand twenty are somehow still feeling those systemic effects and that may be true in some scenarios in my..

"On all in its Kamla Harris Joe. Biden makes his vice presidential pick choosing his former rival to be his running mate tonight as Kamala Harris becomes the very first woman of color on a presidential. Ticket. Obama. Senior Adviser, Valerie. Jarrett on this historic moment and the last Democrat to run for Vice President Tim. Kaine on what Harris can expect when it's time to face trump and pence when all is starts right now. Good evening from Philadelphia Molly, she for Chris Hayes after weeks of waiting and wondering and speculating, we now know Joe Biden's pick for his vice presidential running mate Senator Kamala Harris of California the news broke this afternoon about four fifteen eastern time with texts an email from Biden, going out to his campaign supporters saying quote I've decided that Comma Harris is the best person to help me take this fight to Donald Trump and mike pence, and then to lead this nation starting January twenty, twenty one he followed up shortly with a tweet calling Senator Harris quote a fearless. Fighter for the Little Guy and one of the country's finest public servants. The senators first reaction came on twitter to writing that she is honored to join the ticket and do what it takes to make Biden our commander in chief it was a fitting virtual reveal and reaction for a campaign that's been running almost entirely without in person events for months mid the coronavirus crisis Joe Biden's campaign photographer posted this photo after the announcement showing the moment that he told Senator Harris that he had selected her as his vp today over video chat from his home in Delaware. But they are actually going to be together in person tomorrow they'll deliver remarks at an event near Biden's longtime home in Wilmington Delaware. A lot of Americans were first introduced to Senator Harris during her presidential campaign. Last year, we tell you about her she was born and raised in California the daughter of Indian and Jamaican emigrants. Her mother was a cancer researcher, her father, an economics professor she started her career as a deputy district attorney she went on. To become the district attorney for San. Francisco and then California's attorney. General Joe Biden noted in his email announcement this afternoon that Harrison his late son Bo where attorney general's at the same time blow in Delaware which is how Joe I met Kayla Harris Biden writes that Bo quote had enormous respect for Harris and her work and that he thought a lot about that as he made this decision there no one's opinion I valid valued more than bose. After her election to the Senate, in two, twenty, sixteen, Harris gained recognition for her tough questioning of witnesses that came before her on the intelligence and judiciary committees like the attorney. General. Bill Bar, following the release of the Miller report. Attorney John Bar has the president or anyone at the White House ever asked or suggested that you open an investigation of anyone. I wouldn't I wouldn't a yes or no. Question I will repeat it has the president or anyone at the White House ever asked or suggested that you open an investigation of anyone yes or no please sir. The President or anybody else. Seems you'd remember something like that and be able to tell us? Yeah, but I'm trying to grapple with the word suggest I. Mean there have been discussions of matters out there that. They have not asked me to open investigation. Perhaps they've suggested I know I wouldn't say suggests hinted. I Dunno inferred. Okay. Senator Harris is obvious tough talking skills were also on display during her run for president when she and Joe Biden where opponents most notably with this exchange at NBC's primary debate last June. I'm GonNa now direct this at Vice President Biden. I. Do not believe you are a racist and I agree with you when you commit yourself to the importance of finding common ground. But. I also believe and it is personal and I was actually very it was hurtful. To hear you talk about the reputations of two United States senators who built their reputations and career on the segregation of race in this country, and it was not only that, but you also worked with them to oppose busing. And there was a little girl in California, who is part of the second class to integrate her public schools and she was bused to school every day. And that little girl was me. That little girl was me today Joe Biden. Pick. Kamala Harris running mate making history. She is going to be the first woman of color on the presidential ticket in a year where we have seen the largest protests social unrest in this country's history. So now the Democratic ticket is complete. Joe Biden and Kamala Harris will face off against Donald Trump and Mike pence last week. Valerie Jarrett. The longest serving presidential senior adviser to Barack Obama signed onto a letter to various media outlets demanding fair coverage of the vice presidential candidate quote women have been subject to stereotypes and tropes about qualifications. Leadership looks relationships and experience. Those stereotypes are often amplified and weaponized for black and Brown women end quote tomorrow. Tonight Kamala Harris is that vice presidential candidate, a of Color Valerie Jarrett with me again now valor you and I spoke of this on. Sunday. And I pledge to you then that we will media get this right. So now we start today Kamala Harris is the first. Vice presidential candidate of color in this country's history woman. "I wanted to turn to basically something more current, which is anti. Asian and anti-black sentiment you know recently there's been a lot of incidents of racism to talk about a lot of complicated conversations. According to the Stop, a API hate tracker there have been. Already seventeen hundred reported incidents of anti Asian hate crimes during the pandemic, and at the same time, the black community is hurting anew with the names of a Marbury beyond a Taylor George Floyd. How do you think government can address this stuff? First and foremost. Leaders have to speak truth about the fact that racism is real in America and has always been. And so it may be uncomfortable for people to speak much less here, but we can't ever get on the path of healing. If we don't speak that truth and these various incidents. Hate crime is not new against the community against black people in America against LGBTQ people, it's not new in fact as Attorney General California. One of my many responsibilities was to publish the hate. Crimes Report on a regular basis, the the anti-semitism. This stuff is not new in America. What is what is tragic is that it's not ending. It's not in we're and we're seeing a resurgence, and we see every so often, and so, what must the government do? Will leaders in the government wanted to speak the truth about it? And then there a number of things that we have to do it is certainly when we're talking about hate crime, and I say this perhaps is a former prosecutor who has prosecuted hate crime. There needs to be serious investigation of these cases meaning that when someone reports it, they must be taken seriously. They must be given dignity through the process, and then there must be serious investigation. These crimes and accountability and consequence and nat point is is more than a notion, because if someone who is an immigrant, if someone who speaks English with a heavy accent walks into a police department. It is a legitimate question to ask. Will they be taken seriously? Will they be treated with dignity? So these are real issues that have to be confronted in the overall process that means about training law enforcement that means about training prosecutors about the significance of hate crime. It means doing the outreach with communities that are reluctant to report it because they believe one, it is natural. It keeps happening and happened to their friends and happen to their cousins, and happened to their aunties and uncles, and it just happens. To. They may feel that if they reported. Nothing will happen in three for some many Asian cultures. It's not supposed to be about you, and so people feel that they have to subordinate some times what has been a personal affront for the sake of the community, and what might result in bringing law, enforcement and government into the community for the purposes of an investigation, so that has to be about training of. Of Law enforcement has to outreach to communities where communities have the ability to report these things in a way that they will be treated with dignity. There is the work that needs to be done about speaking about America's history on race. You know we know that the Chinese Americans built help build California into what it is built the railroads, but yet on the books on the long were forbidden own property. You can look at Japanese interment. We can go on and on down the list right and so there's the piece of it also has to be about education and reminding. Our Country of where we've been recently on a lot of these issues, and in so these are some of the things that I think about and then the last piece, which is equally important as anything else. We need equal representation among people who are in positions of power so that they will understand they will reflect the diversity of who we are as a country, and they will also speak. To the issue, but it should not be incumbent on just a an API elected official to do the work of speaking out against these injustices but I will tell you guys I mean on that point in terms of what's happening in the Senate what's happening around some of the stuff you know Congresswoman Mang and I have a resolution that is about denouncing Asian. Anti Asian sentiment caused by the coronavirus amazing Hirano, the senator from Hawaii, and and and Tammy Duckworth from Illinois. We have a full resolution that's condemning Asian crime and in terms of Asian. anti-asian hate crime, and and basically calling on public officials to denounce racism and xenophobia and anti Asian sentiment but we also need to push that all leaders speak out against us in that is just not on the shoulders of those of us who come from these communities to speak about it. Well that's exactly right and I think for us, too. You know along that thought comes the of interrogating one's own community about racism. You know the anti blackness within the Asian American community for example leading to hopefully a more uniform solidarity more unity across communities. But we could talk to you for hours about all of this stuff but we wanted to squeeze in before we go are bad Asian confession segment in which we share time or an experience and Franken I've shared so many of these where something had made feel like a bad Asian. We do this so that we can all impact it together. It's like a it's like a group Hug. It's like group therapy. We wanted to know what is one of yours senator. Oh! Okay, Well one is I didn't realize that it was more than something my mother did. Like for my entire life up until last year I didn't realize that it was apparently a thing to put Indian spices in tasters. Choice Coffee Jars. We had a whole spice cabinet full because she would drink. Taste destroys coffee which was. Basically spoon out with the Cup pour hot water? And she would have that every morning literally. Don't talk to mommy until she's had her coffee and it was tasteless. Choice coffee well if you looked in the spice cabinet. Like big things of tumor, big things of human big things with muster receive all in tasters. Choice containers. These glass containers with this twist top. And then I was with on a pretty a very well known actor and comedian, and we were cooking together. We were making those together, and she pulls out this vice. This and they were all in tasters. Choice containers. And she and I had the biggest laugh because she didn't know either that this apparently thing among I guess the in her parents are father and my mother were into the same generation. That's one I. Guess the other one. It's a very. I've never confessed this, but we would always challenge members of my so. Indians cannot pronounce doubly. We would sometimes challenge like my grandmother pronounced. That's awful and I'm sure we're the only bad. I am so sure you are not. Just said that I've never said that out loud..

"I wanted to turn to a back to sort of talking about you know Biracial -ality and especially as a presidential candidate. You know it felt like people encourage you, or there's pressure to choose a side you know black or Indian, American, and at one point you're asked directly in an interview at one point to say, indian-american are African American. which you know doesn't really jive with my understanding of my biracial friends identity, and what you said it was I'm a proud American in response to this question you know. How do you feel about the way? Our political environment handles biracial identity, and do you feel pressured to pick a side and does that reflect your life experience? Well I mean I have to tell you rancor honestly I. I don't even think we're that sophisticated yet I think that you just have to ask. How does America handle race? Much less what it means to be biracial. Like literally when you're talking about running for office, and you can ask any one of us who was one of the first of our kind to run based on gender or race, and you will know that it can be a challenge because. People. They're more comfortable on I guess. It's easier to place a candidate in a box that you already have defined. And based on your exposure and your your knowledge, right and your experiences. And so the challenge becomes then when you don't fit in someone's preconceived notion of who is president of the United States because they're only reference, point is who has been president of the United States, and not one of those people looks like you. It presents a challenge <hes> which is that. You are probably more required more than others that are familiar. You're required to explain things about yourself that otherwise you may not be required to explain. And that that can be challenging for a number of reasons including because. At that moment, you might prefer that. The interview was about your plan for the economy. But you're trying to help. People figure out who you are, even though you're really comfortable in your own skin. Well I think to that point conversations like these I think, do help people figure out you know as they relate to their own experiences in ways that are not widely talked about so I'm curious along along those lines. How have you dealt whether they're coping tools or learned skills or or sources of strength in your life? Have you dealt with this? External interrogation of your identity and how people use it to judge things like electability. Yeah so wonderful question <hes> you know I was raised with a deep sense of pride. In my cultural background. Like I've never really had. Mean this not as indictment of anyone, but just speaking about myself. As much as I don't like to do, but. I've never had an identity crisis. And it, just I haven't I haven't. I'm really comfortable in who I am I grew up in a family and extended family. Who was you? We like literally. I didn't go through some evolution. About who am I. What is my identity? I guess the frustration I have is if people think that I should have gone through such a crisis and need to explain it, but I didn't I you know. I grew up. In a community where <hes> and maybe it's because also being from the bay area and growing up in the bay area, and there was such a cultural mix of people on in the community in which I was raised, there was an understanding and appreciation. For that that it it just wasn't an issue for me, and but you're right, then being a candidate and going out in the world and being a candidate for public office does mean explaining who you are, then it requires a little bit more exploration to to help people figure it out, but it's not as though it was kind of an evolving consciousness for me. Thank you so much for sharing that and and I think like from what I understand about biracial added entity you know it involves a lot of tackling back and forth, and choosing between them is like choosing between your mom and dad, which you know, no sonner daughters really able to do.

"Ari and you're about to hear my full extended interview with presidential candidate and US Senator Kamla, harass you may have heard about or seen parts of it in the show. But now on the podcast because you guys have told us you like this. You get the whole darn thing. She talks about her new proposal to close the gender pay gap, why she thinks attorney general bar has bias and what that means and then we had a fun, lightning round conversation. She even reveals her perfect running mate clue. He's a boxer as well as her favorite album. And then if you are really into this, or you were searching around, and he ended up with us, or you're interested in comma, Harris, I can tell you that right after the interview I play her very first ever appearance on the beat. This was when she was a Senator. But before she ran for president, it might be kind of interesting because you know you go into the archive and you get a different version of her a quite relaxed, we talked about Buzi Collins and her playlist and all kinds of stuff. So I hope you enjoy one or both the interviews if you make it that far. And if you like what we're doing, please feel free to get with five stars. Or leave a comment on apple. I went in the other day. I read some of your comments. I even read the constructive criticism and I'll keep it all in mind as always, thanks for listening to the beat with Ari Melber podcast. Presidential candidate and US Senator Kamla Harris launching a new plan to close the gender wage gap. People are working the work in two and three jobs to put food on the table in our American, nobody should have to work more than one job to put food on the table and have a Roop of their there. And this proposals making headlines tonight for its get tough approach. Harris would force corporations to prove they're paying equally across genders or face public, shaming, and strict fines from the federal government. I'm joined now by twenty twenty candidates Senator Kamala Harris. Thank you. Thanks for being here. I'm -solutely high. Let's start with this. What does your plan due to combat the gender pay gap? Well, first of all, it is just a fact. Right. So the reality of it is that we don't have to debate the point, which is that on average women make eighty cents on the dollar to men. If you're talking about African American women at sixty one cents if it's Latinas it's fifty three cents. So there is an obvious issue that we have around, not only despair disparities, but fairness and equal pay for equal work. So let's get beyond that because it's not a debatable point. The question becomes, what are we going to do about it? And I think the goal we would all agree should be that. People should be paid equally for equal work. But we haven't yet reached that point, and we're going to have to create incentives to get there. So when I am proposing is that we shift the burden away from that working woman and instead onto that corporation to prove that they're paying people equally because here's the reality of it already every day in America. There are women who are, you know, hanging out at the water cooler with one of their colleagues who works in the Cuban cubicle, right next to them as the same work they're doing. And then they might start talking about what they got their kids for Christmas or you know what the new car is the new auction machine they bought and it becomes clear to that woman they're not getting paid the same amount. So then what does she do? She'll go to the supervisor are we getting paid the same amount. And the supervisor is likely to tell her we can't disclose salaries of other people. So then what is she supposed to do? Well, she can go and complain to the she can try and do her own work to investigate the salaries. She might you know, take it as far as litigation. To sue. But why should she and have the burden on her to figure out that she is not being paid name amount? It'd be the business of the leaders of these corporations big on that exact point because you call that the burden and this was something that President Obama was working with congress. Let's take a look at that when they pass a Ledbetter act. Yeah..
