"You hire a new staff and their offensive coordinator will come out. Their strength coach will come out and go, you know, I don't know what happened here before. We inherited, you know, the covers were pretty bare. Some of the stuff they were doing, no accountability. This place needs a reboot. We need to come in here and start from scratch. You know, this is we ain't inherited in Alabama or House state here. You know, we're not Tom Brady 8 walking through that door. And it's very negative usually, right? Because in rightfully so, usually people get fired because things are bad. And you need to turn the program around. College or pro. And I just like mixing in a southern accent every once in a while. So the only thing I can do. And it usually don't hear with an existing coach who'd been there a long time, the kind of speaks down to the previous group, but Pete Carroll told Albert brewery. He said, you know, one thing that became stale around here is once you get players that you have to pay, and he's like, well, they all deserve to get paid. Is, you know, the competition, which is Pete's motto, always compete. Kinda dies. 'cause once you pay for Richard Sherman, Earl Thomas, kam Chancellor, Michael Bennett cliff Avril, Marshawn Lynch, Russell Wilson, all these players and all these different positions. There's no Bobby Wagner. There's no more competition, like those guys are the starters. And I was thinking like, Pete, that was not your problem. Your problem was not that you paid guys and you couldn't compete at every position. Because guess what every great team has. Sweet players that stay there for a while. Mahomes, Kelsey, hill. Aikman, Emmett, and Michael Irvin. Jerry Rice, Steve Young, Brent Jones, Brian young. What are we talking about? I think the problem with Pete is they have a hard time looking back and going, you know what we screwed up. A shit ton of drafts, a ton of trades. We had a core group that most teams do that you siphon players in and out off that core group and you add correctly. It honestly it's one of the reasons the Patriots kind of peaked there for a couple of years like that last year for Brady. They didn't do a great job of drafting around them. And listen, I've always defended winning teams. Drafting at the end of the round is much more difficult. If I'm drafting 7th every year, like Luke Kuechly's are sitting there, you know, I mean, Kyle Pitts is sitting there. Jamar chases, Micah Parsons. Those guys aren't there when you're drafting 26 every year. So drafting at the end of the round is hard. And then do you know what else is hard? Every round you drafted the end. So I've always defended like you're hit rate when you're a playoff team every single year should not be as high as the Jags who draft or the Lions who consistently draft in the top 5. They should, in like a three year span, be able to recoup even though most of them don't. Top players and you should hit it on a lower percentage. Just it's very understandable. But Seattle missed on a kind of guys and then they used their draft capital and missed on a ton of trades and they kind of had historically, right? Jimmy Graham kind of backfired, obviously Percy harvin backfired. Jamal Adams has been a complete disaster. And they deserve like all the criticism for screwing this thing up.

"I can tell you that this was a game that i bet at four and then also liked it four and a half to the show. Yesterday we got news basically right when we came on the air that That you mentioned what we did. The segment that ben roethlisberger is dealing with a pectoral injury that it seems like he will play. But there's a pain management issue Than a couple beat reporters for the steelers tweeted earlier. This morning. Like ben will play. And then i believe the direct quote from one of them is then. We'll play but like we'll be in pain on every throw was basically the until the shoot 'em up with are all in which case he's not even gonna know what planet he's on. So yeah exactly. I bet you do it okay. Sure and mom. It's coached that's what what gets me like. Julian edelman after the super bowl against the seahawks. The game's not over yet. The kam chancellor decapitated convert the third down. Juliet it's it's the following tuesday these literally like there on the field the confettis falling and elements like guys. The game's not over yet. And then i don't know why i think this is so funny. He looks at bella check and he goes. Bill is the gave over. Bill goes yes and then it'll be like it took it. Took like bell was the only person he was gonna listen to in that instance gallium believing so that was so funny. Because i was at that game and like the hit happens and i turned to my wife go. Oh he's out she goes. What do you mean they go digit. Did you see that kam chancellor as a missile you destroyed and she's like out of the game and you're just like just like like he's like we're going to remember this game now more than he is. That's what that's exactly what i'm telling you and then in the. Nfl films are wired. Set of the game which is an incredible thirty minute. Special for people like that at the super bowl. Obviously mike all the players and everything the f..

"And this one instance where they went to replay and they got it wrong. They just flat out got it wrong. Who jones deserves a touchdown. He gets a touchdown gsa to football podcast and he might get the ironman award for being one of the baddest wide receivers on the planet during week. Two i think the mvp has to go to derrick henry. Bill i mean just look at that line. Thirty five carries with the last time you see thirty five carriage for any running back in the league. That is an old school football player. I've said this about many people have said this about george biddle. I've said this about kareem hunt. I've said this about derrick henry. These guys can play it any era of the ball. Derrick henry complain any arrow football. That is an old school mentality. Line right there. Thirty five carries hundred and eighty two yards a five point two yard average so homeless every two carries. He's gaining first down. This man can play in any type of era in the nfl whether it's the eighties. Weather's the nineties. Whether it's the sixties fifties he could play and he can dominate in any era of the ball. And that's why my mind and my mind. He is the best running back in the lake. And you know what people say you know what he yeah. He's great in between the tackles but he doesn't have hands. No you're wrong. He does have hands. 'cause six targets caught all six balls fifty five yards nine point two yard average with a fifteen yard long. This guy is the centerpiece of the tennessee. Titans offense and just watch out when they get julio jones and when they get aj brown going with moco puget. This titans team is going to be nasty. And it's going to be hard to stop. There's a reason they were favored to win the afc south. And you know what the way indianapolis looked and the way jacksonville and houston look the other day. The other week. I think they way with division hands down. This was a wakeup call for the tennessee. Titans it was also a wakeup call for the seattle seahawks. And it's a wake up call on this that defend. It ain't diligent a boom. No more. We aint talking about the legion of boom. This was seattle's first home game first regular home game with fans since week. Seventeen of two thousand nine. Nineteen you know. All those fans were so eager so excited so amped up to be back with the pre game concert in the Hip hop hometown of artists. Macklemore added and then lock. It's long touchdown reception. That led the stadium to basically on its feet and gravitating but the atmosphere. It turned tents quickly. And like i mentioned before the legion of boom is no more kam. Chancellor is not walking through that door. Richard sherman is not walking through that door. And it shows 'cause you know what ryan tannehill. They ate them up on the final drive of the game. Seven for seven during the final drive regulation. Six of seven passes going to the running back. Derrick henry the best running back in the league and you know what the titans just came back and obviously have never seen that stadium. Just go from simple excited. In basically at such a high decimal level to dead silent you can clearly hear a pin drop. You could literally hear crickets on the final drive of regulation and everybody was like no now. I i've been talking about derrick henry and we're talking about why he said king but just look at the stat. This dad just basically shows why he's one of the best to do it in this league right now and there's a reason we call him king on this podcast. Just look at this debt. Henry has four career games with at least one hundred fifty yards rushing and three touchdowns or more. That is crazy. You don't see that in the nfl now these days now. How many other people have done that. Well only barry sanders six. Yeah berry sanders. Ladainian tomlinson five and a guy named or. I don't know jim brown six have more eric dickerson. One of the best running backs to ever play the game to play as also four but henry became the eighteenth player in the league with ten games of at least one hundred fifty yards rushing and those ten games are thinking. Well you know what the titans are pretty. Good right yeah. They're perfect. The titans are ten ino- in those ten games when he rushes for one hundred fifty yards. Now in this era of ood we gotta throw fifty seven times and you know what we say. A lot of quarterbacks. We see a lot of quarterbacks throwing fifty to sixty times mack. jones driver lawrence rookies. Tom brady Justin herman we see all these quarterbacks throwing multiple times joe borough. I saw a couple of weeks ago. And the era of oh. It's a quarterback driven league and we got to throw the ball down the field fifty to sixty plus times. There are still teams. Said you know what that's a. That's a way you can do it but if you want to be successful we're going to give it to our best player and our best players running back and we're going to feed him thirty five plus times honestly. I'm an old fashioned guy. I love beer. Love pizza and i love a good ground and pound game in the nfl. If i've always said this if you dominate the line of scrimmage if you dominate the offense and defensive line of scrimmage and you are able to run the ball off the domination of the life scrimmage especially with your offense of line you will be successful in the nfl now know this new age of having a dual threat quarterback running plan pass and run the option. It's it's cool and all it's the new age thing but you know what sometimes sometimes things just don't go out of style like for example beer. Pizza will never go out of style. blue jeans will never go out of style. Listen to rock and roll will never go out of style and running the rock and feeding your work courts running back thirty five to forty plus times will never go out of style and the nfl and it's it's crazy. How people have great running backs. Who are workhorse running backs who you know what the they don't feed them. Prime example new orleans. Why not feed alvin kamara your best player multiple times just this tennessee. Titans team just shows that you give your best player the ball you put the best players in the best position with the ball in their hand. You're going to be successful. And just simply that. Football's not hard people. Football is not hard. You give your best players the ball you put them. In proper position were they can succeed where they can you know acquit and use their talents to beat out defenders. You're going to win games. It's simple as that. It really is so. Shot king camry. Mvp of this weekend on the running game. And you know what. I've said this before. And i say this again. It's so funny it's so true. What a difference a week can make and just look at the saints tightened just like a debt and speaking of greatness because that was a great performance speaking of greatness. We haven't talked a lot in the past couple of weeks about this guy but let's just. Let's just have an appreciation for tom. Brady i mean honestly right now. Is he the greatest of all time. Or what i think he is. He has to be the greatest quarterback to ever play this game. Now i know you can say. Oh joe montana. He's out there in jerry. Rice might be the great s- player but honestly when it comes to the quarterback position. This guy just keeps on doing and like a ts before the break. He is like a fine why he gets better with age and it is true. It's true and you know what maybe maybe the guys rule because he's showing that it doesn't matter if it's twenty four if he's thirty four. He can get the job done at any age now if you expected. Tom brady to slow down when he went to tampa bay. Especially after your win. The super bowl. You expected wrong man. It's good to be to know with a franchise best ten game winning streak and even more impressive run of nine straight thirty plus points performances in the victory for tampa bay the defending super bowl champions tampa bay buccaneers. However they still haven't played anywhere near up to did daniel after pulling away in the fourth quarter.

"The packers. Should be concerned about aaron rodgers commitment. Because he doesn't need the job Because thing whenever an employee no longer needs the job. It's very freeing place for the employees but it is they very concerning place for the employer. Aaron rodgers don't need the job. Marcellus just said aaron rodgers is not concerned with the consequences. Of course he's not only concern with consequences when you don't need a job. I'll see people walking around an industry regardless of the industry what they gonna do fire me. Yes we've heard that. And that's where aaron rodgers is at what they gonna do bench me. What are they gonna do. Fire me and what they do. Cut me sell them. Go deep on this conversation. I got hotter on this conversation. The more prep fort. Aaron rodgers has too much power and power corrupts and absolute power corrupts. Absolutely moot and aaron rodgers has been given too much power. Can't nobody tell him. Nothing within the organization. Nobody general manager. He looking at who you already told you to sign an randall cobb. And you did that. Take codes mala floor or you. Em clapping back schumer at the post during presser out the post game presser. Anybody rogers has too much power connected to cyclops x. Men when he got them glasses on he can control the power and then he could control. You know the next ray vision. Not the x ray vision about the power that comes from site but then when he takes it off it's just everywhere and it's mass destruction. Aaron rodgers in the current place of i think a little bit of mass destruction because nobody tell them anything like bra. Can you really imagine marcellus wiley week. One the nfl season. Your head. coach comes out here in says we got whooped etc etc and aaron rodgers. You clapping back at your head coach week. Why aggressive you already saying. I mean those are his words but to me. It's just one game again. Y'all might not take anything from that but please no if you win an nfl locker room. That is a huge deal. It's like talking back to your parents. Yes about your household. I don't know how you better know about house based on a man. I think he's let you be an auto household and you get called by name. Parents called me ma. nigeria named. you'll notice by now if you're watching show do there. I say why why. God i can't imagine the response. When rogers is that bad kid. Who's parent matt leflore. The adult supervisor in the organization saying some an air. Rogers watt and. He can't get checked. They're currently no consequences to his action. There's got to be worried about the commitment style because he'll need the job man. Yeah man say it again. He actually sued basically through his action. Said i don't care and if you don't care guess what we believe you that means it could go either way for you. Had those conversations with people go forward. I don't care if i live with died. I'm like that is the worst place to be. Because now whatever comes your way you're gonna attract it and air rogers and we want to track the failure. Because he wasn't concerned with the consequences. What the outcome you win. Would you go x. men or something. I don't know what movie that wasn't the around. Keep it simple dog training day. Dog a-rod is a sitting there in the jungle cap in looking at him. See this teammates looking to him like no. We ain't gonna put a cap and nobody you handle all work. Big dog that's wrong. That's the one because the problem is again trained date when denzel. He finally thought he ran thing. Ninety ran everything but the problem was everybody starts to look at them like wait night. Like you've crossed us head. I've got you on your analogy bag because eventually even packers teammates say criminals but eventually they looking at aaron rodgers like doggie you cry we just lost three man like you crossed us. We was rhyme with you. We been wrong with you privately and publicly but we was grinding. Ota's and you're on vacation. We were grind during training camp. And you weren't fully committed and now we here getting embarrassed and you still out here. Like forget what they say and eventually they look just like they look at them and then selling have roger have nonetheless do and then they go get a gun. Jor love your like you gotta do your own work. I read this story because my mom is dead recipe. Mama and charles protects your services statue of limitations. They can't do not i'm young. I don't know how. I was like eleven or something like that. Also cross through. My mom went to go to brenda house. And my mom asked me do something and back in those days we suspect. Rt for roller is. I'll do that as much now. But i i said what and my mom was six one to fifty and i'm being nice. I think it was more mom. Single-tier turned around and gave me all of them nikes. And i'm just letting you know. That's why i'm a good guy. Sometimes you need hanging coming up three times pro bowler box. Nfl analyst gregg olson is joining us. Who asks if his former teammate. We'll come to you. We're good man by the company. You right now. I have a question for you brother. Is this the year. russell wilson. Your former teammate finally wins. mvp you know. you don't say this much about a guy. Legras straight i mean. He's regarded across league as one of the top five ten players in the league in elite level guy. But you can almost make the argument that he's underrated you know. I think the fact that he's been able to achieve what he has. And i think i read something the other day. He's like second or third fastest guy. One hundred wins. I mean what he's been able to do from a production standpoint again. The number one aspect of production is wins and losses. You can't argue what he's done. I think what happened. The russ was early in his career. Because the defense and legion boom what they were building their got so much credit and deservingly so i think people took for granted the winning and just assumed it was because of the other side of the ball and when they went through that big transition on defense and they lost chat. You know kam. Chancellor and richard sherman. You know cliff april retired. They kept winning. They kept winning. They never had a rebuild. And i think that's a credit to him. I think every year he's gotta be a guy that's running the fact that he hasn't gotten an mvp over all these years is hard for me to believe. But yeah i mean you you would be hard pressed to find better guy to be around sought firsthand last year and he checks every box but does he check the box of winning the mvp. This year. I heard a.

"I'm sorry. Yeah, I'm not a Cowboys fan, but I have to look at every I mean, realistically. I see where he's come from with Green Bay in the passing game with Aaron Rodgers and the fast receivers He's used to that kind of thing. So last year, he had the jet receivers down to Dallas, but no one to give the ball to him. That comes back off of injury or not, maybe looks pretty decent practice notices. First game out there makes a man throw 50 passes so he could see what he would Jeff. He's out there. He's got just But you're not going to do nothing one dimensional in the NFL League. You're bringing stuff to D C later on and see what happens. Oh, Doc is going to be driven into the ground it I mean. It's a It's it's I'll put it to you this way. There could have been more balance and this is what we're going to get. And and thank you, Erin for calling from Virginia. This is what we're going to get after one game. We are going to get Overreactions. There's going to be people who say Dallas is going to the championship game or the Super Bowl. They're going to be people who say that all know Dallas is Mike McCarthy is going to ruin them. Those are two extremes. We got to see how the next several weeks play out. We got to see how the next several games play out. You can be confident you can be happy. With what took place tonight, and you can say okay, if the Dallas Cowboys can hang with the chance they can hang with anybody. Okay? Well. And about a week and change from now they're going to be out in Los Angeles. You know, I think Justin Herbert, I know. I know Ekeler is dealing with his own injuries. But I would assume that that will be another shootout. You know, but the thing is okay. Are the Cowboys still going to be a team that Can they stop anybody? They gave up 31 tonight. The head coach was just like, Oh, yeah, Quarterback was throwing it around just because that was the flow of the game. Justin's calling from Virginia Justin you on CBS Sports radio. Hey, man. Appreciate you taking my call, Um Yeah, I have to say I definitely disagree with Tony earlier about Mike McCarthy. He is my biggest concern. Is the Cowboys fan for our team not worried about that. Not worry about the Yeah, we could have gave Zeke about a little bit more tonight. Of course. Um, maybe the below for that was too much tonight. But, hey, he looked great. I'll give it to him. He is that. Um My pick up my kicker really? Hardest tonight, but the one that hurt me the most and all actuality was Anthony Brown. He killed us. We have to do something. About Anthony Brown. He got burned all night long, Trayvon digs. You know, he's gonna be a lockdown corner in this league. I really feel strongly about that. Um, He played great tonight on Evans. Whoever he was covering all night long. But Anthony Brown. Was trash and he's been trash and we got burn. Yeah, he got burned. I don't know. Maybe Maybe Dan Quinn can place a few calls and see if you know, I don't know Earl Thomas and Richard Sherman and Kam chancellor. Maybe they can all kind of come out of the cobwebs and retirement and You know, maybe help out a little bit. I doubt it, though. We need somebody because he's not the answer. Like I said, digs Big, big special. I think he's gonna be just fine. But we've got to We've got to do something different on the other side with brown. He's gotta go. All right. Well, thank you. "About the issues within the borders of seattle within their own team. And they're lost. You look at the seattle seahawks. They had a tale of two seasons last year. They fell off in the second half the season that second half collapse we saw a team that went from average thirty four. Thirty five points a game down to twenty three points a game. That's mediocre. You look at them in the first half when we were unbeatable five and we saw the offense historical pace. Then you saw ten seventeen like the bears offense problem is. Did they fix that. You thought maybe into the postseason. Hey let's reset and do something better. They didn't look any better in the postseason so for that not a hater. Not a believer either. Really a playoff team. I'm convinced but you know. Sell if i have nothing to draw from. Draw from history and history says with russell wilson at the helm and pete carroll at quarter at coach. They made the playoffs eight of nine seasons looking twenty-seven season what happened russell. Wilson go back. P carole go bad km chancellor one of the best safety of the safety of the decade. You could argue generation based on how he played cam and water he ended up on. I r richard sherman. First ballot future hall of famer ended up on. I r The favourable their best pass rusher at the time ended up on. I r marshawn lynch. They did not have a replacement for chris carson. Who is supposed to be. A replacement ended up on i. Irr so the only year to seahawks have not made the playoffs. Russell wilson as quarterbacking. The team is when you lost your future hall of fame quarterback sherman a safety of the decade and kam chancellor. You didn't replace your running back and russell. Wilson lead the team. That only in passing but in rushing as well. There are a lot to make the playoffs as long as russell. Wilson is quarterback russell wilson's an overcoming. There's some quarterback really good bike matthew. Stafford he's really good. Matthew stafford can't necessarily overcome these circumstances around him. Russell wilson has been able to overcome these circumstances around him. The seahawks defense was historically bad last year. First four games of the season. Yeah they were the worst defense in the nfl as far as yards given up per play but still therefore no did he tail off towards the end of the season absolutely off our fall off but he got such a lead on everybody else that even as he fell off or tailed off. They ended up in the playoffs. So as i look at it they to be in the playoffs like they always not not. Who's one at division in the last four years. Two of those four years. The rams did they get better. Yeah so ramsey Let's talk about how they fell off not tailed off seattle. Pass defense last year. Is that good. Twenty second in total divas getting better lau the six most sax last season. Do they have a line issues. And hold ins and outs and dwayne brown got his contract. But now he gone at the end of the year Third down money down twenty-seven illegal last year on decent man lou. The reason they went from wall to oh because it started to decay started to erode. Will they be better this year. I dunno new office. Coordinator will russ cook. Does russ care to cook russ has been through a lot. This all season turns a commotion. We'll see how it hits the ground and if history ground running against a forty niners that four nine is gonna be squad this year rams going to be squad this year arizona's going to be squad this year like i think it's just tougher sledding for a team that really still searching for its identity. Here's the thing no sale. And i'm just doing it off. Top my head doing during the course of these shows this test our football knowledge of the teams that make the playoffs or win the division. They have the best quarterbacks in the play offs. Or they have the best quarterbacks in the division if dak prescott doesn't get hurt does they made the playoffs. Of course they do dak prescott best quarterback division. Of course he is your. Let's go to the north talked about the steelers the browns the ravens etc. Lamar jackson he best division. Of course he is but did they make the playoffs. Of course they did. So y'all do the game in your own head of own houses on the best quarterback tactically. Brian top five last year. Right last two years ryan tannehill the last how long. How long term right. Now we sit here. You get a quarterback ryan noodle read. That means that if you got the best quarterback going to be. I mean when i look at when i look at the vision of which russell wilson is. Part of. The nfc west was about quarterback. Now division calories. Good sir lance good. Maybe we think jimmy g. sure if he's healthy saving the best matthew staff pace win. Sean mcveigh shabat. Vague versus new office. According here's the thing Versus look i like the core in seattle. We do this all the time. Do we okay. Let's do it all the time. This hindsight by stuff right. Matthew stafford's weapons force doug baldwin was not a weapon when he got drafted drafted from ages after main curse was not a weapon when the ball was undrafted. So ball was not weapon when he was a quiet undrafted. Germain curse was not a weapon when the seahawks acquired him. Russell wilson has made all of these players weapons rather lock. It was a third round. Pick return specialist from kansas state. He had fifteen catches and two hundred yards and game last year decay. Metcalf was passed up by every team wants one left so decay. Metcalf was not even perceived to be that great of an unheralded weapon. Russell wilson his turn these players into weapons. So don't be like matthew stafford weapons all of a sudden. Because we're ever russell wilson would have been his wide receivers would have been perceived as weapons just like tyler lock it's perceived as a weapon Doug baldwin was perceived as a weapon k. metcalf is perceived as the greatest weapon. Yeah so that do stafford. Maybe his weapons. Johnson you think he s he had weapons. But that's not the conversation right now. I was trying to stick you and nail you to the fact you say well. If you got the best quarterback you win right you tell me who's a better quarterback and i don't know because our last time we tried to do this. You try to act like ryan. Tannehill is as good as matthew statistic. Okay okay here we go. Who's the better quarterback. Russell wilson or john wolford because russell off the job. We'll get out of here with this. One hundred seventy four passing russell wilson. You you're going to get my man. Schottenheimer fired over that betty shoddy fault you fell off the second half of the season forty percent. Completion percentage russell wilson. You brought up the march axiom and you were talking about the last time we saw. He was concussed last time. We saw the player football down. One russell wilson the last eight games of the season. That wasn't the seattle seahawks office we saw in the beginning the season my point is this had. They corrected themselves. You don't know that. I don't know that. Because things have changed to sell they had nine wins eighteen. They had ten wins. Nineteen they had. Eleven wins twenty. They had twelve wins the last four years. They've been winning more and more in rams. Have one more in that division. Ten quarterbacks miss the playoffs unless you're going to talk to me about this the shawn watson situation in which he had a costa change in the middle of the season what packers they made the playoffs. They had rogers. You telling me the cowboys would've made the playoffs. Were dak bucks and the saints. Both made the playoffs last year. They had brady and brees. Russell wilson made the playoffs last year and off made the playoffs last year. Big ben made the playoffs last year. And lamar jackson made the playoffs last year and baker made the playoffs last year. Well wherever you want to say. Yes mattress staffer. south team. Plus deck is top. Ten he and make the playoffs. "Then you start to realize that might actually be a little bit of a clunker. What's amazing about the cowboys. So if you go back when jason garrett i took over right eight wins. eight wins. Eight wins twelve four wins. Of course that was when tony romo got hurt right. Thirteen wins that's when dak prescott filled in for again. Tony romo getting hurt. Ultimately tony romo retiring since they've had back thirteen nine seven eight and then last year six although as we all know they had a litany of injuries not just dak prescott offensive line and they added disaster of defense. I a negative seventy eight point differential. They hadn't had negative point differential since two thousand fifteen again when tony romo was out all teams all of them if they lose their starting quarterback there very very unlikely to have anywhere near the same level of success. I understand that there's the giants jeff hostetler that. There's the eagles with nick foles but the truth is the eagles were the best team in the nfc. And then when they got nick foles they kind of stumbled around and just survived. Remember they should have played new orleans if not for a miracle play in which minnesota wins that otherwise. They play new orleans. Granted drew brees outdoors. But the saints that year were a real. We're a better football team than the than than case keenum as quarterback at the vikings point is everybody's always the same when you lose your starting quarterback but this dak caged animal okay. Has anybody stop to think like you know i liked back. Got the new contract. I don't think he's as good as the contract. I think he's a bit overrated. I still think a really good quarterback but even with a healthy dak prescott and with what we would all deem and they've had varying levels of dysfunction two years ago they didn't beat anybody who was zero wins over eighteen with an above five hundred record. Not one last year the same two years ago they would get out to a hot start score in their opening drives of the half and on the second half and then really struggle when when they got off script last year was kind of the opposite. The defense obviously was disaster but even before that got hurt the events wasn't clicking on all cylinders and they still had a litany of talented stars everybody thinks. Cd lambs going to be special. And then you look. Oh sure ezekiel elliott need to lose weight and the offensive line needs to be yes but they still had dudes and now they're incredibly dependent upon dak prescott to carry them an offensive first team and the guy who's gonna fix their defenses. Dan quinn give her the last time dan. Quinn was seen as a great defensive. Mind i can tell you. He was with the seattle seahawks. That's seattle seahawks team had kam chancellor earl thomas bobby wagner richard sherman an and one of the greatest collections of defensive town and they did fit into his system but like everybody is a much better coach when you have much better dudes the point is that when i hear dak prescott caged animal one. I'm concerned i'm concerned about the shoulder. You know like you don't you don't go back in for a second. Mri if if everything felt right if it was all good news. It's like i say this. All the time nobody gets a second opinion on good news mr godly by once. You know you don't have cancer won't talk. That's good news. But i'd really like a second opinion that who does that does that. You know you go in and take a second. Look we like sums not right. There's the he's coming off of a major injury. A breaking your ankle in half is a major injury and when you hurt your shoulder throwing a football. It's what's it called the kinetic chain. Is that what it is the the hip knee bones. The ankle bones connect to the the shinbone shinbones kicked to the niba. It's all interconnected. And when i see her guy who's like all of sudden he's got some sort of labor potential issue like you hear the adam schefter report. He may not be a one hundred percent all year and now they're fluffing it up with all caged animals unbelievable throws are great. I'm not the only one sitting here going like yeah i just. I like the cowboys on paper. But something's wrong. Something's amiss caged lion. Sorry caja caged lion. Thanks good. he not great. He never been rogers. He's never been mahomes right but they have dudes they have dudes all over the field but if he's not right if he's not what are they. What are they throwing out there. And the more. I hear them be so fused with their parray's straight out of a shoulder injury the more i'm like. No i don't buy. I don't trust it doesn't feel right. They are completely dependent upon dak prescott to be healthy to deliver the football and to score a bunch of points. That's how this team is built. They are built around star power on offense when the truth is that the offensive line is not nearly as good or as young as its reputation when the truth is the dak prescott and the cowboys haven't beaten team with a winning record in two years when the truth is the dak prescott shoulder doesn't seem to be right could be connected to coming and the truth is he's coming off a injury so before we go kind of all in and we find ourselves like i don't want to but once again i believe in the dallas cowboys and you know this is. They've had to down years and usually to down years or follow by an up year and the eagles are bad. And you don't believe in the giants and in only has a great fun for but ryan fitzpatrick all. That's great but there. There has to be a. I feel like there has to be a hesitancy towards the cowboys. "He was going up against ball placement was kinda ugly. So i so. I don't think that helps his cause Because you know if it was. Patrick mahomes out there. I think some of those passes might have been completed. But it wasn't so you know i'm i don't think he had that great a game the same category as w web. But i would finance angry thomas just because you know i'm thinking of three or spectrum and like you said basically a year or two you would know you're talking about with an on the draft class and you know can't just be trae lance i you hit on her. I don't think that's going to be necessarily true. Because just lump these two together. Dion madore northern talanoa who you're financing. Both these guys correct. No doctor well no no no no no. I am going to finance the amador. I'm going to lease who fonda. Why and i'm not trying to dump on longa who funded to me to me. As in the niners are going to be looking at strong safety next year in the draft. I've told you this privately. I've said this in every group chat. We've had new. I am all in on the niners. Getting a stud strong safety. We've seen the eric reid's we've seen to quasi tarts. What are the niners wanted to do. They want to replicate this. Legion of boom seattle seahawks defense and what has been a staple seattle seahawks defense kam chancellor right now. Jamal adams the ninety looking for someone who gives them that they're looking more for the kam chancellor type as opposed. Jamal adams because jamal can't cover anybody retired linebacker in seattle over pay linebacker in seattle. But you're looking for a camp cancer type guy can cover play the run blitz. You need all three can cover. He showed it yes he did can he. Blitz show that in college. We'll see what he can do in the nfl. I think long it's gonna be a good player. I would keep him around absolutely. But i'm not i'm not going to count him as my starter going forward. I'm not looking for him to be the next great forty niner safety. I'm looking in the draft to go find the strong safety of the future. If vong has a star few in certain spots you should be okay. But i don't know if he's going to be able to be a guy that's going to play all sixteen seventeen games. Mb the guy. So i'm not all the way there yet with longer. The amador lenore. I'm buying on nose dot com. The what do you see on lenore that that makes you wanna buy is it. The fee is at the you know in. This patient is anticipation toughness. He plays both inside and outside. He gives you positional versatility. He's a dog he's a smaller corner. Is fluid heads. He's got great feet. He's got great ball. Vision made a lot of place on saturday pass breakups just being in the right position. Interception interception perfect timing. Know right place right time cyber situation but you don't have to balls completed. I don't even think i down. Because he's he's he's in the hippo the receiver and he was in the hip of the receiver all saturday. So that means he can cover into it means to me. He knows what he's doing. He's comfortable with what he's doing. So yeah i would. I'm gonna finance the lenore. I'm going to lease and the lease on who founded though. I am unsure on him. So i'm gonna go with lease with an option to finance him later. Yeah but i you know at right now on the day of purchase or whatever. It's at least. I expect to move on from him in three years like traditional lease. Because you're looking twenty twenty two to find your strong safety of the future. And i think that's what the niners are ultimate looking to do anyways because you want what tart gives you tired is one of the best cover safeties in the league and you want that from your strong safety so if they can find themselves. Another quasi tar without the injury issues and ours refine with who fonder. He's a project. And i think that's why you bring in a clinton dix because you do have a project that's gonna make this team at safety and maybe a clinton dix can can help ufos nga you know just learning the nfl game From film room perspective even though he already seemed like a smart kid he was able ambery. Thomas was in trail on a drag wral. And if it doesn't come in there make stop that's probably a first down. So and he great before the balls even released who follows already running because he he diagnosed the play and then forty niners. Legend jerick mckinnon. Look like he was about to turn up on a first down. And then who's the guy who comes in there and make sure tackle who turn up pro jet looks like honda. Civic man come on. Oh yeah it's bad. But you know he might have picked up the first down because he was out there against their triggers so and then he also made place on special teams I do think the lisa's the right category. Because i know you know things and when the forty niners when you say hey they may be looking at. You know strong safeties in next year's draft early on i'm gonna take your word for it that they may be looking at strong safeties next year's early on so i think lisa's fitting considering he is a project. I don't think you could finance a project in in this activity here Damadola nor i think we just saw the starting of lenore. He has talent. He has skills and he played well. He played well. Obviously if i want to. Nitpick i would say he got be on that outsail by who knows who receiver And if it's an accurate ball it's a completed pass. I just gave up to someone. He should not you up. A completed passed to considering the athleticism that the madura lenore possesses. But hey right place right. Time came down with the interception in. And i think this kid is you know he. He's on a better trajectory than what angry. Thomas and like i said i. He's the third corner on this forty niners team and you kind of have to finance considering ver- it is on a one year deal and and emmanuel moseley is essentially on a one year guarantee. Do 'cause you're twos nothing. Guaranteed if he just has a whatever season whether it comes down player injury. He may not even be on his team next year. So you have to finance damadola nor because of the market because of what the market there you go look at me. And into the carpets of the market value. You're going to have to finance the madore lenore in the situation. And you know to to not to want anyone to think that. I don't like i think he's a good player. Work coming after you on. Twitter been shameless for a year and a half. It's all right. We'll do yeah. I think of him like could he be your matthew slater. Matthew slater the patriots special teams. Who case for thirteen years right. And if you have a guy like that on your team you don't have to worry about a lot of stuff kasuma's yeah if if von could be your special teams. Ace that's valuable that's valuable player.

"Not alex smith jimmy garoppolo. Not alex smith throw the guy into the fire. Let him learn. He is protected literally by the league. The defenders can't really hit the defenders can't really hit your wide receiver. So guys are more open. Do still need to throw guys open in the nfl. Of course you do but it's not quite nineteen ninety-two steve. Atwater is not going to give you concussion over the middle. He's not allowed to steve atwater. Obviously not in the. But you know what i'm saying. The kam chancellor days are over they do not exist. Here's the other thing. The greatest attribute a rookie quarterback has the best one is his contract. Obviously if he's good he's cheap right. His contract make five six seven million dollars instead of forty so it it skews your cap to to be advantageous to sign other players. When you can't think about her how much better off. The chargers are that he got thrown into the deep end last year. I'm going to pick them to make the playoffs. I think but having that contract on your side obviously wants season starts his rookie year. Your team is set. You've already spent the money. But what about your to when you have the full confidence go. We got a guy. We got a big time talent and we have the ability to make a run. Let's load up. It's easy to say that but if you don't truly believe. Are we really going to be wasting money when you get a guy. When you got josh allen lamar jackson when you get the chargers would justin herber you. Put all your gypsum. No table and you are literally thinking walking around the building. We got a chance to beat anybody. we do. So every single game that. Andy dalton or jimmy garoppolo place to me is a waste it really is and i just think look at recent evidence. All the guys that played early had success so much earlier because of their ability to play because of their ability to learn on the field. You can only learn. These practices are a joke. No one is getting touched kind of honestly just known some people in the nfl laughing stock in the league like what these practices are what they used to be. I'm not trying to be old man. River and enact like things don't naturally need to progress but it's hard to get better or football when you don't allow tackling or hitting right. The huge reason tackling is so poor early in the season because you don't tackle it'll and then the preseason games no one plays the my philosophy would one hundred percent be if i have a rookie quarterback one clearly. If he's swimming over his head doesn't know what's going on. I'm not saying you just throw out a guy. Teammates like what is going on..

"That's became metcalf and is in a contract year right is the salary cap explodes in his mind. I am sure he thinks. I'm the greatest in the game. Julio has slowed down new cop gins isn't what it used to be. I'm i'm a number one of number once. And i want the ball. I want to showcase that and we watched that persona grow in confidence really over the second half of last year to even in the playoffs so i will be very curious to keep an eye on as well as a lot for this new guy to balance. I'm sure you had to deal with a lot of the same things at bbn. An so. i. I know he's got a lot of that history built in and how to handle really didn't have to deal with the ram difficult personalities. No those guys right there guys all block. And you don't have number one number one's and we'll just show at quarterback stunk come in like there wasn't that much of that robert woods and kupa cup and those guys getting bunched blocked linebackers and safeties. And they're totally selfless. And we'll do whatever's asked and decays certainly soup unselfish and tyler is as well but decay in particular wants touches. Contract ear wants to be paid as the best receiver in the game wants to show that he can be that. So yeah. I think you add his voice right in between pete and russell as well all right number two storylines. We're watching heading into training camp speaking of contracts. This is gonna be the biggest. This'll be the first thing we're talking about. That's jamal adams has contract his leadership. And i think his performance on the field. What he ends up bringing to the table. Let's be honest brock. They gave up more to get this guy than anyone in their tenure right. That's how highly they thought of jamal adams and how much they needed them. They had to know the contract. Fight was coming right. And if they don't sign him someone should get fired. I think it's very if you've done all of that trade at all that for him and then you don't sign him and he walks away or whatever that's like a fireable offense so they're going to sign him we all know. This is the case. There are some a little bit of positive news. Right now. Tweet from justin anderson earlier today one sources opinion this morning on the jamal adams hashtag seahawks contract situation quote. We are hopeful that the contract will get done soon. He's in town. A lot was given up to get him. I feel there's love on both sides. Yeah we'll see physicals this morning followed by teaming as it should be right but if they want is leadership to factor in which you know allegedly was one of the reasons they traded more. I'm going to get this done like a sap right. Yes and if you do. Will we see him. You're absolutely right. The hawks pay to king's ransom for him and it wasn't just for the football player. It's for the persona. It's for the edge. You remember those training camps early on we go out there. I mean richard. Coin ducks face right. Michael bennett in and in read or over the catering over the that was i mean it was violent. It was loud right. It was kam chancellor just just just patrolling and prowling the the the in run towards the silently by oh nelson cruz in. Kyle's batting cage. Oh man these guys are ferocious and then they moved on and do you remember how quiet it was to thompson and crew. Remember a quiet in the absence of richard earl and those guys right that. That's not bobby. Bobby isn't loud. He's not all of those things. It got quiet out there in the pri- uncomforably so and i think i said that more than time or to salt like man you know. Trey flowers tetra thompson. I mean we're. Where's the juice where where's the energy michael. Bennett's where's where's the de lyon that's just like yeah killing killing these guys and i like what you wrote to to me brooke last night. You said that great. You hear great. Defenses before you see them. That's a really do. I think it's a really good at edge and something. I'm going to try to remember. I think that's a great way of putting it. That's why you got jamal adams so that you would not just feel him which should which is important but hear him he he brings some of that exact mentality swag energy that you were talking about so get them get them happy. Get them in camp. Or you're wasting part of the reason you were willing to give up so much. Because he is flawed. He's not a perfect football player. And what we see him you you ask that right. I think the tuesday's a pretty significant day. you know. i love injuries and the son of a coach. After all there've been some big moments of percy harbin's hip and everything else and tuesday's physicals. This guy is significant shoulder. Surgery finger surgery right is. Is he going to be even able to participate in camp right. Are we gonna even see him on. The field of that contract gets done right. How much of that presence are we going to feel much of that noise. We actually going to hear or is this going to be shoot man. We're going to have to wait until week one. And they're going to have to manage him all the way through training camp with some of these other so yeah. That thirty three is man. Yeah i know it's not storyline number one but it should be one because it is significant. Absolutely right i mean you know. I think you have to be monitoring him when is. When is the contract on kenny play. Can he be healthy. And then once he does how does he handle the fact that the other teams may game plan for him this year. You know what nine half sack's last year. They're going to pay attention to that. It's not like teams. Aren't gonna notice that that occurred. And so can he cover kenny force. Turnovers can do some of the things that this team is going to catch with a healthy shoulder and fingers. I would be helpful. It certainly would if he could catch so yeah throw all that together brock. And i you get a really interesting conversation there. That will certainly be watching regarding jamal adams right a story line number three of kind of order as of these next these kind of going any order but are any of these. Young draft picks going to become something beyond their expectation or even reach it. We're going on a few years here. Man where you really need. Since you know we've had decay obviously other than decay metcalf schneider's hit rate with early. Picks has been pretty rough for awhile. And so. I got a group of guys that i think these are all i first through third rounds that your starters if not pro bowlers if not difference makers jordan brooks daryl taylor l. j. collier marquees blair regime green all first through third rounders. Mine named noticeably absent. there rashad penny. I was just looking on the defense. Oh wait a minute. I was just the defense on the other side of the ball. You're looking at penny s krige etc. So i was just looking at defense. I'm not leaving penny out. Br i mean that's what two four six seven average. We'll wait and see it's not like he's underperformed yet. But that's six guys that you're pointing at and saying your first through third round. I left i left. Will d'isly off this list because i think he was a fourth fourth rounder. But he's another one where kind of big expectations and we've seen some of the promise and just unfortunately last year never quite delivered up to what we were kind of hoping from so i would put him on this list but he's not a first through third rounder. I mean really. You're looking at decay metcalf in an incredible success story. And you're pointing at damian lewis. Who was a pretty good success. A third rounder last year on the law and the offensive line..

"Percent. And as i said for those that have tens of millions of dollars and all the accolades and everything else it becomes that much more difficult when that door closes. So are you surprised. I still yeah. I was when i asked you that. Initial question about your initial notion prize. Yeah when i saw that that was my first like whoa. Wow right to put yourself in that position to be that reckless with lives your own and others right. Yeah i was. I was very very surprised and very sad is more and more details. came out. and you're right. This is kind of the teeter. Totter that we're on because it's criminal. I mean this is. This isn't lying to carry champion about. Jim more random. Let's be clear. Because i don't i don't know how you feel about these definitions. This is how i operate in my own head. And i'm sure plenty of people will disagree with it. Josh gordon has done things that are technically criminal. But i don't believe they put other people in danger. Does that make sense. Josh gordon's done. He's tested positive for drugs. Not just not just performance enhancing but recreational drugs and people do cocaine or heroin say those things are illegal right. they're generally not illegal because of the threat that other people are under their illegal. Because of what you can do to yourself in the problem to society etc. The challenge here is that and while. I'm always willing to offer a level of sympathy and understanding to an addict like josh gordon. It's a little more challenging. In this case. In fact. I would say i can't do it because richard sherman. Maybe he's got alcohol. Maybe he's got alcohol and alcoholic. That's something worthy of a level of compassion and especially when mixed with some of the other stuff we're talking about an exiting the league but getting drunk and ruining your own life is different from getting drunk and threatening other people trying to break down their door driving. After drinking what his wife said was two bottles of hard liquor and crashing into a construction site fighting cops. Those things don't get like brushed over just because you're an alcohol. Yeah and like that's fine and that's absolutely means that there should be a support system in place but it doesn't excuse the actions that put other people's lives and health at risk. I can't do that. no. I'm not an this consequences of all of those as well. The impact on your wife and kids and inlaws some family in this community. And and we're it holds you and yeah i mean there's there's consequences to to all of that and that and that is why this is such a difficult conversation you're right. I'm really thankful we were on the air that morning when this came down with the initial news and then even as he sits in over the course of those twenty four hours and is not able to post bail and in all of the situations more of the details. Come out because it's just it's brutal. It's just a brutal and you know. I think i said this. The next morning to paul galant almost as almost simultaneous sock is that news came down and that headline came down honestly. And i don't know how it was for you but almost a simultaneous. I thought about p carol of the different people within this story. He said all the tentacles that reach out. I found myself because of the number of times you in me sat with that man down at that facility on the air and off the air talking about richard and just man pete. How are you doing this. Well let's be clear is a rule. One break he breaks rule one. You don't have rules. You're the easiest parent. There is seriously your your kids. Go to the montessori school. They don't but they see that there's no discipline. Whatever you have one rule protect what team predict team and at every turn stone you. He's throwing the coordinators thrown teammate quarterback. Yes reuben kun by. Yeah yeah so when this came on honestly which makes sense by the way they should build a statue p. I mean they should already that we already know that pizza grades coach in the history of this organization. One of the greatest should be in the nfl hall of fame sooner rather than later. But pete i mean look who is not the first person to notice this but three quarters of the legion of boom has now had major legal issues. Yeah right browner in jail for j. prison right. He's in prison. prison program. Earl thomas member was in bed with his his father and another woman and his wife found out. That was a mess. And now you got the richard sherman. Three quarters of the legion of boom has had major legal trouble. The other by the way being kam chancellor. Who's like the pillar of the community. Like the exact polar opposite of any of that you throw in michael bennett and the challenges that he brings to the table throw in marshawn lynch who in no way has had any criminal activity like this but certainly was a challenge to handle as a head coach. Put all of those guys on golden tate. Clemens throw all of those angry doug baldwin. Was he a challenge at times and his relationship with the quarterback throw in a quarterback who they all think is kind of corny. Throw in cliff. April who's like another pillar of the commute like what a bizarre group of human beings they managed to put together serving seriously. What a punch brennan junk. Meany was the one who joke the most penalties all those guys. Just pete loved it. I know just the kaleidoscope of chaos. He told us that he he loved more than any team ever growing up. He loved the raiders. Right bay area. Guy and loved loved. The raiders and personalities now davis seventies and that whole cast characters. They were nuts right. There were just crazy and that that's what he that's what he loves soup. That's where he flourished. That's where he's got a patience and compassion and just a a sense to bring people along and when this news hit. I honestly was wondering man i would i. I'm just so curious you know when he doesn't have to deal with this thankfully you'll probably be out about it. Yeah i know. But i feel bad and offer sympathy but enough to handle the guy being on a team because no team correct correct man i just i. I don't know that image. In all of this conversations we had with them and pizza love from people. And i bet you this hurt him was his own kid I bet this just stung like this was his own. Just one is own kid like this guy. Member told us one time like when we wake up we wake up. The same way is wide open. Let's go like just kuku compete and beat everybody around like he just. He has a ship with richard that he just loves. I'm sure he does. But then when you see him. And you see the footage of him banging on the door of the of the father-in-law's house and repeatedly slamming his shoulder into it. Trying to break in yellen for the guy to come through you hear female family members behind screaming in terror. I mean you think about the kids kids in how they are and to see your key magic seeing your dad acting that way and read the police report of your grandfather having a gun on the door. Not knowing what's going to happen neck all of those things are are just incredibly terrifying. And i can't. I can't work up even a little bit of support regardless of of the challenges that he may be dealing with mentally time in life chemically etc. I can't i. Can't i can't bring myself at the moment to offer sympathy now. All of that being said doesn't hinge on what he chooses to do. Next if richard sherman decides to be richard sherman about this up. Deny there's no evidence that the finger right right pointed everybody else. Nobody knows the circumstances that led out is rice. And i'm not gonna let you into aches experiences. There may be some that are valid. I'm sure that money is a complicating factor. I don't know for a fact. Whether or not sherm bought the home that his in laws are living in. But i've heard that story. You know those things. I think are complicating but not excuse worthy and if he tries to point it those complications and use them as excuses. I don't think anybody should have much sympathy for him. In the way this thing moves going forward now if he pulls a brandon marshall. Hey guys. I need serious help and i'm going to go seek that help and actually does it..

"What do you think the damon are. Net can really do to step up this year. I think dana has to get into the film room. Just become smarter. I think he has the ability to do everything needs to do a whole lot smarter and realize what's going on on not get caught off guard not situational. You know like the dolphins game can't you can't let somebody get behind you too late on karaoke coverage your door to like you. You want them to throats the flat throw behind you so you gotta keep getting your and you know it's situational things. He's got to become a smarter player because he's not smart as a matter if he fixes his transitions or fixes is his feet or whatever he needs to fix if he's not smart enough zone you get a matter and he's still not gonna play fast so he has to get in the film room or something and colleges figure out what's going on how the nfl you know works. You know not about talented here. You know i mean everybody's talented. It's bad news to take brian deer. Who who's putting the work in whose professional you know so a he has to get into that mode. I believe and you know because they got so many guys over there. There are veterans at argue like that so he has to figure out. Figure it out very fast and i think that gus bradley is a good coach to help do that as i speak a little bit i have. I have some questions for bbc. Two's coming on in the next half about You know the guys bradley system but from your end. I wanted to get your take on jonathan abram and whether or not he can be kind of like a kam. Chancellor and thrive as a buck safety undercuts bradley system. Yeah i i don't know about the kam chancellor or i don't know about that but i think that it can be better. I think he has to be a little bit more. I think the same has to go with how they just has to be a little bit smarter. You have to play smarter. He can't take chances. You happen to him a lot. Like he took chances like the chiefs game. With the homes touchdown he just cited to he was gonna go attack mahomes zona than mahomes smart and throw it over top of that so he he has to match be a hero. The time. I mean the broncos game he did the same thing on the ninety. Two yard jerry. Jeudy touchdown try to be a hero. Throw it over his head. Ninety two yards later it's touchdown so he has he has to do the same thing that I think arnett does. I think he's going to get more of a chance though because he has shown some flashes of being good like about three interceptions last year So i mean he. He has some flashes of being a playmaker. You know So if he has those flashes. You're excited 'cause especially when a young player that maybe it's something that could be untapped because it's not like our net. We leniency a lot of flashes. Last year you know. Abram yousof is somebody that could be good so that's how you have to look at is getting him in a position where he can win He kinda let him avoid man coverage as much as possible and try to get him like an in the box and maybe some glitz no cop made like ginger mall adams role type of seattle's. That's kind of how i look at it. So we need start thinking about the cornerbacks..

"Why did you just try to around two first round picks for me feel free to let me go. You think as well all right. But they're gonna they can't just let him go after giving two first round picks. Jamal has more leverage. Really legitimately i think he has a ton of leverage. I think if they if they don't sign jamal adams. It is an epic embarrassment for the organization who has more leverage like in their history kam chancellor when he was holding outer jamal adams right now jamal adams because of the trade because already anti-death they already said. They admitted tacitly that they are going to pay him. You gave up two first round picks and a player to for this guy where you can do that for two years and see a later. Anybody who's willing to do that should be out of their job. They would old say. Hold on a second we were. We're fine will let you play out your final year your deal. Oh and by the way we'll franchise you and you know you're going to be franchised. Jimmy graham you're gonna be franchised as a safe because not gonna play. Okay then don't play then. Don't make anybody we've seen this. We've seen how this goes. I mean i'm not saying that they won't eventually that the seahawks don't have any leverage whatsoever but ultimately they need to sign them they do and ultimately. Jamal needs to make his money because ultimately jamal can look at what happened. The cam and earl who both held out cam for sixty five days and got nothing and earl for training camp got nothing and he can go. I think he's got more leverage than either of those. I think he does a lot more but he also has not made you know in his mind. The next major major contract. I think that'll be an injury. Changer you bring up the idea. In if i'm here i mean. Is he going to go down. The jimmy graham has done this road on the franchise like what do you mean safety. Not nine half. Sack's judge me on. Kyle wants to over there. I'd nine and a half sacks like we talking about you can't play safety pass defense your death..

"Nothing that says that zombies would only afflict people who are really good strategy so maybe in that respect it's it's very accurate and sort of true-to-life that you get some you get some some thinkers on and you get some folks that are just Gonna get eaten. we're unlucky. You know sometimes the thinkers don't make it either and we don't want anyone to get eaten by a zombie thinker or no so. I guess that's what we'd have to say about that. What are we talking about this. This is one. Dan said of the term zombie. Renner is that. It encourages unscheduled and perhaps unwanted segues into actual zombies. But we can move on from that to another of my hobby horses which is pitcher hitting because this was brought to my attention just this week when we had another instance of a pitcher really ostentatiously not hitting just having to hit but no effort whatsoever to hit and i think we talked about this earlier this season when there was a taiwan walker played appearance against matt harvey and he just very clearly was not going to lift the bat off his shoulder. He was just gonna stand there and take whatever came his way until he either walked her struck out and of course he struck out. This happened this week and it was maybe even funnier and it was sort of a a ridiculous situation because it was pitcher hitter against position player. Pitcher and really. That's just a race to the bottom. And i've been meaning to try to figure out analytically which is worse you know which is more incompetent who is trying to hit or a position player who is trying to pitch. They're both pretty terrible. And really you could say it's one of the sort of nice but i'll be at strange things about baseball. Is that we so regularly get to see people do things that they are not qualified to and are not trained to and not selected to do. I mean in many sports. How often do you see someone. Perform as incompetently and look as incompetent as a pitcher hitter does or position player pitcher and these are fairly routine things pitch hitting is an extremely routine thing and position player. Pitching has become a fairly routine thing and one thing that i do. Value about pitcher hitting is that the steep decline over time does enable us to see how much better players have gotten the doing the things that they are actually trying to be good at and so it's helpful to have pitcher hitting as kind of a contrast to that but really are there other sports where you so regularly see people who are asked to do things that you're not at all prepared to do at that high level of competition. It takes like really catastrophic injury multiple people for that to happen right because even when you have your your average backup quarterback is like generally significantly worse than your starter sometimes like really really worse than your starter but like often can throw a pass downfield like they're not gonna be good. There are backup for a reason. And you want your starter in instead. But they're at least operating in the same general position group right. It's only one like really bad stuff happens. And you're getting like the emergency quarterback that things go awry or you know sometimes in football you'll get injuries too to some part of your kicking apparatus. That's not the way to describe it. I am a football fan. But like you'll get you know like something will happen to your long snapper or everyone catches kovic in your face. Citing the fiftieth string person. Who's available eight or like you know the the got. Your punter suddenly has to kick field goals for you but like even there didn't mean with pitcher hitting your guys who have not hit since little league right there in the pick lakes couple of years ago on the seahawks kam chancellor who is their strong safety. Was there like third. String super emergency quarterback and even he had played some quarterback but it had been since you know maybe early college potentially high school since he had done that and i just remember never having see him ever take a single snap so it didn't matter it was just like a thing you knew and if you wanted to feel anxious you could be. And even i didn't really indulge that because it's like oh we at least about backup so yeah it's a very. It's a very unusual circumstance in some sports. I mean. I'm sure that we'll get emails from people being like it's exactly like this thing and that's cool. I am excited to learn about it. But it is a very strange bit of business to have someone essentially flip from offense defense when they don't already play that position exactly when they don't already play both sides of the. I am aware that there are. There are sports. Were you both things. Yes this is not one of those situations so you got in the nhl you get the emergency goalies every now and then and that's kind of a fun story but they are still goalies like they may not be professional goals or high level professional goals. But they are goalies whereas a pitcher hit her is in many cases not really a hitter in any real sense except that he is being tasked with hitting anyway. This came to mind because archie bradley had an at bat and archie bradley unaffiliated now and is a reliever so is obviously not hitting regularly although he started in the past with the diamondbacks and so he hit at times. Not well he has a career. Oh ninety five ninety four.

"We'll start with the player that Last year was challenged in that in that way too because i think he played hurt i think he played very bravely throughout the entire year. That's uh ezekiel elliott. i I did. I went way off shark or adp or whatever. You wanna call it drafts. The other night and took him with the fourth overall. Pick 'cause they hadn't had him anywhere. And i was trying to do a little experimenting. And and just he's polarizing player because i think You know as polarizing as a player can be as previously been a top four picks now going eight nine and ten How are you handling him. In-draughts what are you see forthcoming for this cowboy year. Because frankly i think a lot of people are giving up on him as saying he's not a guy they're going to draft and i think that's a mistake i love and what people are doing because it's making it easy on me. He her. I mean he obviously looked like he wasn't right last year whether it was mental or physical. I don't know but the line was all injured when That got hurt. That's a huge combination of things working against him. And if you just go back to his rookie year is first preseason. when they went and played seattle. And i don't know if you remember. I'm going to take it on kam chancellor but yeah. She hit him with everything he had. There was the preseason. I was like what is going on here. This guy has everything to prove. He loves and he gets up. And he's feeds. Zeke feed zeke. Like oh this guy's gonna make it and you know he got his big contract after the whole squabble and everything and then last year just kind of like a perfect storm of things working against him. And i don't i think last year is more of a liar than anything. He's only twenty six years old and the line is gonna be back stronger than they were last year. At least i won't say stronger than ever. But they should be pretty good and sounds like he's well on his way to recovery. Everybody's saying he's looking great i. I don't think that i would. I don't think i'd put him above where he's currently going in that he's kind of going with derrick henry. It seems like most the that have done. But i've taken them fourth or fifth and few i i can see him beating kamara very easily. I can see him. Beating henry very easily see him. Fighting for the cia or the rushing title this year for sure If he doesn't get hurt. I'm thinking sixteen..

"So, fellas, Let me ask this is I'm sitting here thinking. How do you greatest in terms of where does this rank and importance of Bangles drafts in the last decades, the fifth overall pick? You know? Well, we hope the Bangles aren't there again. Right? So you gotta take advantage. You gotta get up Impact player. It's also a unique because we're in a point where Joe Burrow is young and cheap and call one thing I think I've figured out about the league anymore is you gotta win while your quarterback is cheap. You look at the Seattle Seahawks with Russell Wilson. He was 1/4 round pick. So didn't command a lot of money so they could spend a lot of money on the Legion of Boom and Kam Chancellor's in the Richard Sermons of the world, Patrick Mahomes right, then, when he was young, and so on that rookie contract they could spend on more places on that roster. Joe Burrows like gonna have that luxury here for about another two or three years. This has gotta be ranked pretty high in terms of importance of Bangles drafts, right? Yeah. And I would say this is if you look a like Zac Taylor's record right now is not where anybody really wanted to be. And You know nobody. Nobody expected it to be there, and I put it in the same realm as the 2011 draft. And the reason I say that is because Marvin had been with the Bangles since 2000 and three And in 2010, we went. That was my first year here, and we went for in 12, and that was the years the Tho Chau and all that stuff and we we came into the draft, and that was the year that Carson Palmer decided to pull the retirement stunt. So it was also the lockout year, So there's a lot of just stuff going on. So if you look at this draft in that draft, and then you look if they had the number four we have the number four pick in 2011, number five pick this year. We end up taking a J. Green and Andy Dalton back to back. And I think anybody that's a Bengals fan will understand whether or not we didn't win a playoff game or not. Those two picks were big for this organization, and that's where this draft needs to be. This draft needs to be whatever you get in the first round, whatever you get in the second round Make it make it a home run. Put it put Joe burrow in a position to go win because the kid is special, and everybody should know that and you build this team around that young man and whatever you need to do you go get those two picks and put him around him. Is there a case to be made, and I've run through this scenario. I don't I don't know if it's legit or not, But can you separate do Tobin and the front office from Zach? And if I'm Zach on thinking it's my third year, I really have to win. I've already got my tackle and free agency and Riley Reef. My offensive line can get by now. Give me chase so we could roll. Versus maybe the organizational, bigger picture thinking. We want a generational type offensive lineman who we may play guard for a year, but we're gonna plug him and eventually for the next decade is there Is there a split there where you could see it as two ways or organizationally. Is everybody on the same page for something like that You would hope they're on the same page. But you gotta look at it this way. Who's making the final pick Mike Brown. Mike.
