We got one but you requested to go to piedmont because there's bears out there and good heaton. we're not paying you to go places with good eaton. That's my question layer saying. Yeah but the only all everyone says everyone reads bear. Tracker everywhere trackers keeping the whole operation flow is what it's paying for the lab and everything it is. It is what it seems like. Yeah like that's another thing like you know. Everyone knows not to do that. That's just gotta poet laureate with you to help down. Oh my god. And then finally i do want to mention the bear seen. Oh can we please is this. Here's my question is seen better than the other bear. One that had aaron creko that movie. Do you remember that erin creko. There was a bear seen in that one right erin. Creko in like doers or the west one zero zero. This one's better. This better is because they're well. No there's one shot of the bear with him. That is cgi in this movie. The rest of the bear shots are just stock footage of videos of bears somewhere else. Yeah great it. But they're different like if you look at every it's a different scene could be. The bear isn't like good guy but someone fired him. No but he wouldn't know this brand larry's a bear tracker. He made it very clear. Track bears when he finds them he calls up and i want to say what he says. Got another one. That's what he says. He says he says got another one and he ran. Larry saw booby so moving. I saw one boy. Kalisa lubega just woke up from a coma they're like somebody mentioned I'm not saying different baram saying that you'll look and the stock footage of the bear. He's like right next some trees and then you look again. He's clearly a bear in a different location isn't bad it's really really bad. And so in the mueller up. It's just cgi bad. This is they've cobbled-stone together stock footage of an actual bear in different locations. And you're supposed to believe that the bears in the same location. Which is why. I would suggest to you. This is the worst bear that we've oh it's bad it's bad. I think this is the worst one. It is immensely off pudding. I really wish homework. "Another thing you're involved in. Oh my goodness the the amazing child prodigy gary sean. If you don't know her you have to. Because she's a young sixteen year old award-winning renowned poet. Who just actually got into college. So she truly is a child prodigy. She reached out to me right before she got accepted into university at sixteen and she saw tweet from me and she said you said he wanted to highlight bipartisan. Queer women identified poets with the reading series. And i'm down for that. Let's do it and so literally. We just opened it up. And we immediately had patricia. Smith you know sumita shock reports he italy mall and these big names just reached out to us and said they wanted to read. So it's been it's been amazing. Yeah unless there's In our show we've got a a link to cleese's website you can find out about this thereby click on that and checking her out In the show notes Kalisa your work this included. I think draws on a lot of different. We're gonna talk about multi genre which you're clearly writing different forms but your poetry has sort of combined some different forms as well does not it. Does people west that often. I wanted to show the brevity and the range of my work in this book. You know how there's a famous writer that says when you write your debut book right it like you will have no other book after that. I wanted to show every single tool. I had in my tool shed so i use a lot of different forms and i think that that was a bit of me. Saying hey Poems that were meant to be spoken have craft in them too. And i'm very passionate about that That was what my nieces dissertation was about. So i wanted to show that these words just aren't You know oral Grio stories they are crafted pieces that took hours of labor And so. That's really what i wanted to showcase in this book. Cup more writing life questions. it's short probably got a long answer. Maybe a short answer. Kalisa body right. I right because it's necessary. It's necessary for future generations. That come after me. Like i said i want to create a world that is safer them to be and i think that words had the power to change lives but i also right because it's necessary for my healing if i didn't write in some genre way shape or form i think i would crumble. I don't think that i would be able to to be here and be saying so. Yeah understand another question. This'll be the last one Before we jump over to patron You've written on all these different forms. you get started at some point and you've learned a lot along the way if you could tell you're still young by the way but if you could tell your younger riding self something of value that that young writer self something evaluate Had she known it based on what you know now. It might help her. Can you boil it down to anything. Yup three really important things one no win to say no but no one to say yes people tell you to say no often but i will say i have turned down these life changing opportunities because i was not prepared. And so that's number one. Say yes and do your research about. Who's giving you the offer. Because i've turned down some things that i'm like man the second thing piggybacks on that is network. Oh my goodness meet as many people as possible. That's how my book published. I was networking at the p. Conference and they asked me what my book. I was working on so network and be open to doing so meeting new people. And then the third thing is don't be shaken by rejection. Writing is all about people telling you know. And i'm telling you that your work isn't good or they don't like it so you have to be strong and be a boulder force and keep pushing and keeps submitting a better way to bring this episode to a close Lessons you can hear us talk. "To really get through living in the south you know. I needed their help to help me find my voice to help me center my healing And that's healing not just from racism but from generational curses and being a survivor of Abuse as a child into adulthood. So that's really where this grounding this earth grounding came from when i talk about generational curses but also you've got spirit because those spirits of my ancestors are always tapped into my work but always tapped into My healing process. That i do on a personal level. So i thought earth spirit were really fitting for the section which great epilogue for banned books i believe is your choice to read from the section You want to say to set this up including maybe the dedication yeah so crazy enough alice walker and my angelou and a ton of famous black authors came to wilmington and so i've just been blessed to to meet all of them and hear them speak and so i sat in on walker's talk about ban books and this is what this time your take it away. So this is epilogue for banned books for alice. Walker under the influence of spotlights and microphones and the scrutiny of the american public. Some speak of assimilation as if it were this natural occurrence this evolution of kinky two straight brown to bleach the inevitable result of stewing in the melting pot of american culture. Somehow are brown turns invisible with a slight tongue trick. I have watched. So many grace stages spin webs of lies to moderators in host. then turn camilion. Racial shape shifter with ambiguous opinions on the matters that matter that not you your work whispers for colorful narratives to come back from the margins for our histories to climb out of the shadows and speak until the masses. Listen until our inconvenienced is no longer seen as filthy smudge on america's reputation but a title of america's cultural anthology. If we were to remove us and all are selling truths what a vacant cannon would be without the grows preserving the stripe capturing each angry anguish freezing these pages as time capsules. Our nation on the cusp becoming a collection of all the words. We fear all the little truth we whitewash and black out are coming back to haunt us like you. I wait for the day when each child knows your name when we race towards what we fear and relish in the unknown. Nice a was drawn to Given earlier conversation the line about Speaking until the masses. Listen because i think that also speaks to what you're doing to some extent with With your poetry here And your activism. i wonder if When you say our nation on the customer becoming a collection of all the words we fear what is your fear at the moment about our about our nation that we haven't gone very far. You know i wrote this. When i edited this trump was about to be an office and i was terrified for myself and so many others and so i think my fear is that now even with the current regime in office and some of the I call it folk activism info progressiveness that We are convinced that's happening. We're not moving much you know. We're we're moving at a snail's pace towards equity and inclusion and i am always so terrified of the generation that comes after meets even bertha child is terrifying for me to have them live in this world Where there's so many lies that get perpetuated in so many things that are left out of our history book and so many fake truths so. That's what i'm really really scared of That we need to go so far in a short amount of time so yeah yeah so as recovering trial lawyer in practice law for many years there was. There's a saying you know. The wheels of justice turn slowly. And i think probably true as well with the you know what we're dealing with on a social and cultural level in this country a- as long as they're grinding in the right direction hopefully we'll get there at some point Hey we're going to have a few writing life questions here But only tell the listeners that we're going to be jumping over to paycheck in just a moment to do a to do a little bit of a conversation on a writing and publishing as a multi genre author because Kalisa is She's a poet journalist Essayist assumed to be novelist editor teachers. So we're gonna talk about You know writing and publishing given all those different ways that you can speak yourself into the world and and inca and speaking of that let me. Just ask this kind of related to the writing life. But you have that you call when me get it right here. Is that Inca thanking inc. Can you speak to that. Yeah so i started a biparti. "I don't know yeah right and i'm not even sure if it was the first string defense out there. That was playing against james winston. You've got to keep that in consideration playing against a not very good team and he had. He did the same things he does did with us that we complain about all the time you know. He stared down his receivers He made bad decisions. And i'll say it was the wide receiver who made spectacular catches. I mean the what the i pass through. There were three guys covered in that guy. And it should have been intercepted. One of the guys was covering dropped down for some reason. I don't know what happened there. But the to jacksonville guys converged on each other and ended up knocking each other off the ball hit. It was the bad decision. I thought to james was through the ball and then second one that was just a great catch by the wide receiver. And the cornerback was right there. So he stared down receivers he. He didn't really scan the field. He was the only he didn't do get happy feet in that game. Then having a chance right. So i'm confident in the fact that he pretty much the same is now the saints fans are not used to this and they're excited about it. Because that that touchdown he threw as long as touchdown two. The saints have hand in four years five years. Yeah something like that. I mean jamborees haven't had an arm and young there used to drink dunk stuff in you. Know james comes to start these bombs. They're all excited but they're getting all the other stuff too. That is the exact opposite of drew. Brees like drew. Brees never got happy feet. Drew brees very protective of the bomb. And he just does not though interceptions doesn't get sacked and he didn't fumble. Those are all three. Things are gonna get with james winston. So you know. We're excited badland thrilled to death. That he's going to be the star. Well and i think no matter which way it goes the question is gonna be answer me out is is. Is it the lacy. Kalisa Gonna help him and Whether coaching i mean he's been entered two coaches. That was three relay in In tampa lavi dirk koetter. Birth aarons was pretty consistent with his issues through those three coaches. So we'll see sean. Payton convicted bruce. Arians a quarterback. Whisperer cannot sell you know. Let sean payton have a crack at it and then come see us in a year brought. Exactly i think is going to be great..

"Absolutely crushing of course wolf. I spoke earlier on in the day with a family of four from houston texas. They told me they had been going to the airport for two weeks trying desperately to get out. They all have american passports. They had gone to afghanistan. Visit the mother's family and they're stuck. It's an american family. By the way was kalisa ward. You gotta get credit from cnn. Who i think is still there. You know this is what what kills me is. We can't get americans out yet. Cnn fox msnbc whoever the case may be nbc abc. They got reporters on the ground. And you know you see the taliban all around him. And i'm thinking okay. So how are they there and are they getting home. I think they were american reporters walking in with the taliban when they came into that. Those hangars where they realized all the l. helicopters. They now own right that we left behind for them. Wow it's but anyway what she was saying about the american family one small example. I mean we've got hundreds of citizens left by they're really gonna call this the end of a war they're going gonna try to run a victory lap. Whatever biden's going to say today we're times he talking. Try to call this a victory while they're saying one thirty so probably around two fifteen In we'll carried on the eight fifty w. f. t. o. will stream it live. Who's buying this. I don't know who who's running around. Defending what they've done is disaster. The question is he addresses the nation. Does he take questions. No so he's just gonna gisele speech like Was it mackenzie who walked away. Who walked away yesterday. Blinking was blinking. Wasn't it. I don't know there's so many of them that don't take questions anymore. Walk away. I think you had the greatest line ever. I've seen more of the backs of their heads than the front. All they do is walk away not face up to it not admit to it. This is why my fear is today and then beyond it all the way into the twentieth anniversary of nine eleven. They're going to try to stop up and down. Have a victory parade. Isn't that why celebrate here. Nothing in any angle crazy. It is a disaster. Yeah let you left anybody behind and if any of the videos that Most of us saw yesterday because the taliban of course is all over social media They were horrific. I don't know who's a life that was the first day at fox news. Just had the audio of one and it was her. It was horrific. And i'm thinking..

"Folks it's ask metaxas time. That's right. I'm playing the role of taxes. And you acce the questions or ask depending on where you're from ask metaxas. This is going to be kind of lightning round ten minutes. We've only got like six minutes and thirty seconds for this round and go. Oh okay here we go. How always is tim. Keller question number one is. How tall is tim. Keller that's question number one. I said people could ask me anything. Okay but i was not expecting that. Yeah i'll i'll answer it okay. He's about six three and a half. I'm not kidding. But the weird thing about. Tim keller is look. He's a friend. He's been a friend for years. Tim keller is kind of a big guy. It's like sebastian gorka from a distance. He looks you know normal. He doesn't look tall. Then when you get up to him you realize he's really tall. So when i say next to him i feel tiny like sebastian gorka. Because they're just they're normal. Proportions are normal but they're huge. But can i add grew quickly. You look normal until you in part and then you see me in person and realize a freak. You're like bus freak. I tell you okay redel. When will you have jordan peterson. Or finagle an invite to his podcast. Okay i'm really sick of this question. Everybody says this when you can have jordan peterson. What are you going to give you a minute. Are you friends with jordan peterson. Why don't you get him to invite me on his podcast. Tell him he needs to reach out to us. Because he's jordan. Peterson he's kind of a big deal. And it's kind like when you gonna paul mccartney on when you get ready to have him on now but he's kind of hard to get to so if you have any connections elton john. Paul mccartney jordan peterson please. Folks go to their website. Badger them tell them to contact us. That'd be nice gesture. Okay this is the ask metaxas. Lightning round question three book recommendations. What are you reading. What am i reading your assuming i read. Actually i'll tell you the truth what i'm reading. I'm reading don quixote or the quick as it was referred to in the nineteenth century by pretentious british. People don quixote written by set of this don quixote is one of those classic classic classic books that everybody raves about. But i've never read and people assume since i'm eric metaxas. I've read everything folks very far from very far from it. I am deeply ashamed of the abc's in my Reading so i was in Kansas city with the mike bickel and company and in the book line. Someone came up to be now forgetting his name. I just read it this morning. Because he signed my book and he starts talking to you about clarisa and about About don quixote classic books from previous centuries. Kalisa don quixote like seventeenth century books and. i thought i'd never read them and he was going on and on and the next time i came to kansas city. 'cause i came back for sean event and then i went back to kansas city. He hands me. A copy. Of don quixote that bought for me. And so i said i get to read it bon hoffer raved about don quixote and in my book on bond hoffer which i recommend He raves about don quixote which he read in the original spanish because he's brilliant you know hotshot bon hoffer and when he was in spain as a very young man. He a as a youth pastor in german congregation in barcelona or but alone as as the burst. Bolognaise say and so don quixote's what i'm reading right now. Thank you for that question any other questions. Yeah how do you pronounce bankers bangor gore us is pronounced bang. Bangor not bangor bangor and by the way. That is a shibboleth a shibboleth. In the in the in the old testament. There's a moment with the people who are from the place called shibboleth they pronounce it sybil eth- and everybody else pronounces it shibboleth and so as their crossing the stream. It's like they're asking them where you from. If they mispronounced it. They know they're lying. And they them. So a shibboleth is a word that divides the locals from the non locals. Quincy massachusetts the same kind of thing. Everybody reasons as quincy. Quincy quincy but the local sake quincy so bangor is a shibboleth. Say bangor people. No you're not from bangor next question. Okay if you're from pittsburgh if you call it the bird than everybody knows your from pittsburgh now. Any plans to come to chicago this year. That's the question you know of all the ask metaxas questions that i've done in the segment this is by far the most recent and it's challenging any plans to come chicago this year. Now here's another thing it's like. The jordan peterson question. When people say to me eric give any plans are. Why don't you come here. When i need to be invited. I don't just like show up at a church or school in chicago start lecturing. I need to be invited. So if you are affiliated with oh. I don't know the moody church or some some mega church. is willow creek still open If you're affiliated with a big church ask them to invite me if we can work it out. I will come. I would love to come. It's been a while since i came to chicago. I would love to come to chicago. But i have to get invited. That's a rule that i have. If you invite me then. I can say. Eric would like you to invite him to hawaii as well. And now if you're from a church there of course yeah. How do you respond to the claim. That god is different in the old testament versus the new testament. That's a tough question. Well there's there's a one word answer for that. Can you guess what it is pass. That's not the word. oh the. How do you respond to the claim. That god is different. In the old versus the new testament. Well the one word answer that i would respond with is jesus there you go. Jesus who is god and cornet whom i worship as the second person of the trinity clearly saw the new testament and himself as the fulfillment of the old testament so there can be no disparity unless you read them sloppily in other words unless you don't know how to read it or understand the context. But if you understand the context you understand in the old testament. God is preparing people for himself. The the israelites are his people and part of the reason he prepares them and chooses them is to bring the messiah into the world. Does the new testament and the whole point of preparing people for himself was sold. Messiah would come out of those people and then the whole world through the messiah could worship the god of the israelites. And so that's my short answer the long answer. We may do another time. We're just about out of time album. This has been a lightning round of ask taxes that folks every week. We're going to do this every single week. Be prepared all right. We're gonna come back final segment and then of course we've got our today. Which is another story. But we'll be right back with some exciting stuff down. I've got seven women on mine. Stone wants.

All those things are coming up along with riggins in the week in review but let's get started with an unfortunate timing of certain songs in theory all right so this ambulance in england got in some trouble. The ambulance drivers because it was parked outside of funeral. Home and blaring on the radio was another one bites the dust by queen. oh so people complain instead. It was in bad taste and all that and they said look. That's not what was on the radio playing. Whenever we drove up to the thing we got out of left at run and lift the radio playing. And by by sheer. Bad luck and timing. They played that song on the radio at that time. When we weren't even around two things one you gotta turn the radio when you jump out of the ambulance. Just turn the radio down to. We know that they Did ambulance driver at least like the classic rock that really rocks. but it's in england so They probably have to hear a queen song every every hour. Or i'd say every few minutes the law you know kind of like we are. Justin bieber arianna guerande in america. That is That's just a bad coincidence. Just make sure that if you're the boss you hey guys just turned down when you jump out. Turn it down. They were blasting. That's what it says they've blaring it out. There's funny though of the deceased think. That would be a funny coincidence. He would've thought that was fun once they told me the story of that'd be like oh that's of funny. Okay actually. I want that played at my view play. I think that'd be fun like when they announced we're going to Be a short graveside service to proceed out of their cars. How it would be very funny. I liked followed by back that nationally but never duplicated. Tj in thirty podcast They have released this study. That shows that Something that alexis does that. We ridiculed her for his now socially acceptable and that is the majority of people who have been asked say that it is now socially acceptable to walk. Your cat on a leash was ahead of the game Trendsetter still have never seen anybody do that. Alexis has a little harness leash for her cat. Cat's name is the colle- what kind of cat is. She's in his videos of it due to want to be walked. Yeah they love it they do. I thought you said she didn't like it at first. I mean yeah but there's a lot of things sometimes you don't like at first but they're good for you and you just get used to it it now. Yes loves it. I mean she likes being outside she just needs to be restrained. So we gotta compromise. So what does that mean. So maybe i prefer to be too but then you also get a backpack with the to carry around instead bed and she likes that better than being on a leash i think so but i just zipper in there so i don't know if she likes it or she just doesn't have going to ask the backpack she never kinda gets like a cat gets into how can an. I'm being serious here. Because i've never had a cat as a pet. But how can you tell. A cat likes something in the same Because they look happy they look here every time. I see cats pretty much got the same. You know disposition were they. I mean you can tell if they're eating something that they like it. It's time to eat so they're enjoying that if they're playing with a ball or whatever but if they're just being cats you can't i don't ever see emotions in them. I would agree. We had a cat. When i was a kid i was in high school. My sister wanted a cat. One time to try it. And i could tell when that was happier. Not sorry that you can. I know when my cat's happy a nurse. She's happy sad man. Would she do when she's happy other than just looks at. She likes to talk. She meows a lot she purrs. Oh yes away purring. Yeah that's that's that shows that they're happy and content via purring. What about when she's mad. Scratch faceoff ask. You can tell when they get mad. So in a. I separated in twenty fifteen. Didn't tell anybody for a long time when divorce filing early two thousand seventeen january of twenty seventeen whatever and then my divorce filing a few months later i had no interest in being married or being in a serious way everything and i ended up meeting amanda and that kind of became a thing and now we're married hook didn't see that coming at all but we are so. Here's the odd part of my life when my divorce was final. It's an unusual situation. But the house that i bought in the early two thousand i still own and wants. My son graduated high school which had a couple of weeks ago my wife. My ex-wife has the house for the summer but is moving out. By a certain date based on our divorces she has until a certain day to find a new place to live. Move out which is not a problem. We've known for years hasn't been a big issue just kind so retained ownership of the house in exchange gave up a most of my retirement. But that's neither here nor there so and everything everybody's known it hasn't been a problem. No issue just kind of the way. We negotiated through things when you when you get a divorce. So after my daughter died a year ago this month Amanda and i were living uptown in an apartment and we moved back to the suburbs to mooresville to be closer to my son so we can see him easier more off made it easier for him to swing back to be there more for him So we moved into this little neighborhood. Great little house that we found that we've rented and we are there until we moved back into the other house or something else. Whatever so the other.

And that's exactly what we're seeing now medical reporter. Liz zibo never covered injuries from rubber bullets. Before this month in the past two weeks she's been talking to protesters doctors and police officers about injuries. From less lethal weapons. She found that three percent of people hit with rubber bullets between nineteen ninety and twenty seventeen died from the injury and based on the date available. Fifteen percent of victims were permanently injured. Rubber bullets is sort of a catchall name for a wide variety of weapons. A lot of rubber bullets or not just rubber. They actually have metal inside. Some of these rounds are called. Sponge tipped rounds or foam rounds again that those names make it sound. Like you're you're hitting someone with a party favor. It does not crazy phone. These things are very hard and what really surprised me. The most when i started looking into this for the first time is that they can kill you. They're even worse than stabbed in the eye as inconceivable as that is or even shot in the eye. What did police instructors say about. How officers are taught to use rubber. Bullets police are told explicitly on the first day of training. Never aim at the head. If you're aiming at the head basically is becoming lethal force. It's no longer a less lethal force. All of the instructors. I talked to said people should never ever ever aim at the head. You should only aim at the legs paramount also. You're not supposed to hit peaceful protesters. What's interesting really is just how often they were used Just recently because really police tell me that cops have been very reluctant to use rubber bullets. There are are similar projectiles amusing that as a catch all term but really cops. Don't use rubber bullets. All that often They certainly use them in enormous numbers over the last two weeks..

I was like twenty twenty one i remember. Oh well 'cause. I kinda wanna get one if that's okay and honestly i. I don't see a problem with that. Neither does for mother. Is she expecting you to pay for chicago. I think that would be. That would be frontline on. The table is guess what If we do agree to this we're not paying for any of it What job you have. That's to pay for it. I would probably pay for out probably well. We wouldn't pay for it okay. Maybe she get money from like all right so now. What was your response. Or will you. Tongue-tied i buy response. Wise i'm not really sure where you could go to get one at your. I think the big issue the law. Yeah and the problem with going and doing it. This black market. Is you end up getting some crap ass tattooist. Who is who is just starting out and basically you are his guinea pig for him to learn to be a great tattoo artists. Thirty years from now. Fifteen years from now And howard just the guinea pig and so what you need to do is go on the googles and you need to you need to find Absolutely horrible tattoos. Because there's a lot of them and just let her see it before she before she goes ahead. Does this on her own by the way so i'm not by any stretch so look this stuff up yourself. Consult a lawyer if you need to. I just looked up main tattoo. Underage and i have main law states. That tattooing of a person under eighteen is illegal. The act of unlicensed. Tattooing is a separate criminal offense. Some police departments have elected to charge illegal tattoo artists etcetera and so on there are one hundred sixty state licensed tattoo artist in the state of maine and forty one tattoo body piercing artists. According to a spokesman all these tattoo artists are eighteen years of age or older by main lot. Parents can give permission for a body piercing if a minor is under the age of eighteen but they cannot give permission for a tete too so you might want to check with main laws and then if you're new england is kind of small. Everything's kind of close to you. Get to another state within an hour to whatever it is so you might check with other states around you to see if you normally parents can give consent for their offspring or even in your case a step offspring to do something like this. It shouldn't be that difficult for you to achieve. If you agree to it. yeah exactly. Those are the keywords khanate. What do you even think about all this. We're talking about a fourteen year old. Who who's go. Who's talking about something that's going to be on her body for the rest of their lives and is that even something that you really want. Have you been thought this do or you. Just a dumb kid. Well yeah i i personally i have nothing against it. I mean if she doesn't like it when you get older she could always get a cover up. That's what i always tell people who are laser it off. I am not. I am not opposed to To body modification in at this level there are. There's a lot of body modification. Out there that i that i find disgusting but piercings and an tattoo tattoos are i think very They're very pleasant. Most of the time not to have gauging of ears and whatnot. Indoor there are some facial piercings that are just there of gnarly But i have. I opted out of ever getting a tattoo because because of a couple of reasons i never could decide what i could live with for the rest of my life and i never knew it i. I've never met a tattoo artists that i'm an artist myself. I've never met another artist who i felt. Competent was competent enough. To put something on me. That i would be happy with or and where i would want it. And and nikki clicks. You said you have a tattoo of sorts we talk about. I gave myself. When i was fourteen years old i gave myself. I think like three or four tattoos. They were all like needle and ink tattoos. And i don't regret anything shelf tattooed. I did off seattle. Yeah this one. It looks very nice. As did you go. And buy like professional supplies. India ink and a sewing needle so you did like the style on. Yeah very poorly. I don't regret them. They're all covered up except for this one but they.

Symptoms of Vaccine Side Effects in Dogs
"Is no. Extremely great vaccine. It works very very well. And we've been able to document the literature that this immunity waikele lasts for a long period of time. Whereas for Kalisa virus and herpes virus, the immunity just doesn't last as long, and it's a combination of things that's different target that we're going after a different type of virus. It's more challenging to get that immunity to stay up there. So sometimes when we're seeing in having a conversation with our veternarian, there may be different recommendations for different types of vaccines. So in other words, the veterinary may recommend getting one type of Accion every several years and other type of axion more frequently depending on that cats risk. So another example of how it's important to have a communication with your veterinarian because vaccination is not a one size fits all opportunity. I don't think. Absolutely. And and I would also say if you have concerns you have reservations, I needs to be an open dialogue. So you really need to talk to your vet. And certainly let them appreciate what your worries might be. They may not be founded or they may be founded. And so the only way to really explore that and come up with a solution that you're going to feel comfortable with and that you're gonna feel is gonna give your animal. The best protection that you feel appropriate is to really have a very very open discussion about these risks benefits. Do you have any statistics at hand or in your mind about how frequently these diseases that we vaccinate four appear in our our populations have cats. Well, there are some good data that are actually beginning to come out. And so it's really challenging to oftentimes figure out how frequently they occur because for instance, they're not generally reportable. Right. So we don't know as veterinaries how often they occur unless there are specific studies that look into them. And so it depends a lot on the cat population. So so for some of these types of diseases, it's not unusual for five percent or even higher of cats that are out in an area can. Actually, be infected with these with these types of irises. And so there's a group that is called taxi, and it see a PC, and you can go to that website. And they actually are starting to track feline leukemia and FIV virus status based on certain types of tests. And so that can be a way for those types of diseases to get a better feel for kind of what's happening. But I think the biggest important message here is although some of these viruses may not be incredibly common in our pet population. We certainly when we see them we definitely see them on these unvaccinated animals and the results of these diseases are far more devastating than any possible negative component of the vaccination in my opinion. And I think that you would agree with me. Absolutely. I remember when I was working in clinical medicine saw kitten that had been born Ren shortly after birth had been exposed to pan leucopenia. And so it causes an error, basically it attacks the Serb in the brain. And so this cat could not walk. Properly. It would fall over these are horrible horrible circumstances and situations that happen, and I'm sure every veterinarian has got their stories of what they've seen. So you know, it's really about. How can we do the best for the best number of animals? That's kind of heartbreaking if you think about a twenty five dollar vaccine could have completely changed the outcome for that cat. And I think that happens every day. So I am very very happy that you're with me today to talk about these things because I feel like people trust remorse and internet headlines in making decisions and really the best answer is communication with their veterinarian. Wouldn't you agree? Absolutely. I mean, I think, you know, Dr Google has a place, but we have to be a little bit cautious. Anybody can put information on the internet, and so going to reputable websites if you have questions bringing them up with your veterinarian, I think these are all really important ways of making sure that information, you get is valid and defendable. I have a t shirt that. It says I'm smarter than Dr Google. I love it. It's my favorite t shirt, but it's it's a little bit tongue in cheek. But use the information that you find on the internet to start a conversation and ask do not hesitate to reach out to your veterinarian or retail to
Calls For Civility
