"You're the 35 or you're 16 or 18 on this D.C. team. We'll see what they do this weekend. So how about this, Dave? Who's your guy? Who are you watching? Who's my draft breakdown Kuiper style? Exactly, yeah. I'm just assuming that's the music that ESG and puts on. What I'm looking for in the second round is one of the best offensive tackles in the game. He can get outside. I'm gonna pick Conor ronin on this one. Condo ronin would go directly into the David goss. Likes to connect quick pass would never score a goal a best 11, which would be 11 versions of that. So Gotti kinda's in that team. Brandon sir vanya might be in that team. Latif blessings definitely in that team and Connor Ronan might have a spot as well. What was fun about watching him play was the way he sets the chessboard. And so when you watch Colorado build out and I understand a lot of this is in theory right now because of how bad it went in Seattle. There was moments where he went to the right back spot to open up angles for Ralph priso and help them build out when he realized Seattle had too many numbers inside. There was moments where he went high and was able to drop someone else underneath him. There was moments where he dropped in as center back and was able to pick up the ball and create space. I think he has a really good understanding of how to move pieces around. I think he's comfortable under pressure on the ball, and he seems to be at least elusive on the half turn where it's not always the predicted move that's coming next. What's exciting for Colorado is how that fits next to Jack price because Jack price, I think, more confidence on the ball better to hit that long ball. Ralph preso kind of would pick it up and dribble into the space and then sort of turn back and recycle possession. I think Jack price can use what Connor Ronan does to be more effective. And I think Ronan, you see why they're so excited about this, right? He takes what they've had in the past few years. From four or 5 different players, wraps it all into one and gives them all those attributes. Some of what Cole Bassett brought. Some of what Jack price brings, some of what max was supposed to bring to this team. Some of what Marc Anthony K and Kalani Costa brought. And I think you can roll it out there and he can be pretty special. Yeah, you figure he's like a connector between price and Bassett, gets the best out of most of them or both of them. Now nobody got the best out of the rapids other than the sounders last weekend, but honors is reveling in this discussion in the chat. But what? Well, the way his team got run off the field was that fun. Was that good? I just, you know, how Andre's experiences, these shows. Colorado hosting kids, the city at 9 30 p.m. on Saturday night, all the games are on Saturday this week and to go back to Christian binte. D.C. will be in Columbus at 7 30. I'm going with kip Keller, Austin at home again against Montreal. It was a nightmare man. It was tough for him. I think Josh wolf is going to stick with kip Keller. I think he should stick with Kim Keller and there's bad news for Austin, Julio cascante, who was the reason kip Keller had to come into the game in the first place, is out for at least 8 weeks.

"To see and it took a long time for the league to get to this point. But we've gone from, you know, just sort of dipping our toes into the global transfer market to, I mean, now, you know, Thomas on Twitter, breaking global news, saying here, here we go. I'm sorry, no, no. We move. Forgot your own bit. Yeah, don't. You can't forget your own bit. That's brutal. I've been pretty seasoned shape. Let's stick with LAFC for a second before we recreate the entire global transfer market in the next ten minutes. How worried would you be about LAFC? They've traded Lizzie blessing. They've lost Sebastian Mendez. Let's say Jose Fuentes leaves. Right now, for three midfield positions, the depth chart is ilia Sanchez Kalani Costa and Jose C fuente. He leaves how worried are you about this club? That's gonna be in CCL. It was obviously, they got the buy in League Cup, but they still want to compete at that level, and then you have all the other competitions. They need signings. And there have been able to do it kind of in bunches a little bit. At the beginning of the month, they didn't even have pre season they unveiled a new goalkeeper, Aaron long, buch, the winger, they had four signings or whatever, on blanket account on the last one, but they had, they became, okay, we're looking light and then, oh, and Maldonado, another center back. Bank, here's four new signings. So I'd imagine that they're going to need that again. And three of them are going to have to be central midfielders, because as you say, including Fuentes, they have three senior central midfielders. That's it. And they play a three central midfielder system. So they have a decent amount of work to do, but the front line and even if orango goes is really strong and they probably will need another natural center forward to add. Again, if orango does go. But the front three, center backs, full backs, a little bit like it's really just that central midfield group. And again, a couple of signings, and we're going to be looking at the seam as one of the best teams in the league again.

"Football. Coming to you live. From new York city, Brooklyn to be precise on a very special day across American soccer as we find out the 26 players who will be headed to Qatar to represent the United States at the World Cup. Alongside Hercules Gomez and Greg berhalter, the manager of the U.S. men's national team, where to kick off this edition of the show. Coach, how you feeling? Look at this reception we're getting. Feeling great. I'm feeling great. I'm feeling good to be here. So how you feeling? I mean, I got to imagine this is, are you like relieved right now? So, you know, not relief. I think it's just now your focus. The focus increases and we're ready to get the guitar and get our job on. That's what it's about now. All right. There's a lot of specific roster questions I want to get in with you, but we'll take a look at the roster in just a sec. We got a full show for folks at home. Landon Donovan going to join us in just a little bit, so we'll be talking about not just this year's team, but looking back at some of the years of the past, Mauricio pedrosa also going to join us as well, because Mexico played earlier today against Iraq. But while we got a second, why don't we take a look at the 26 players that will be headed to the World Cup in Qatar to represent the United States as they get set to kick off on November 21st against Wales is actually guys a pretty impressive list. And I gotta say, when we open the list heard, there were quite a few surprises weren't there. You think? What if you bombed through us for a loop? And I'm sure Greg's in it. Tell us all about it in a bit. All right, so as we mentioned, let's take a look at the at the list for the World Cup. I'll go through it here as production gets it out. The goalies is one of the areas where there was a surprise. We got Matt Turner Ethan horvath and Shawn Johnson that made the team defense Cameron Carter Vickers to Gino dust, Aaron long, Shaq more Tim Reeves, Anthony Robinson. Joe scallion Deandre yelin and walker Zimmerman a lot of defenders on that list in midfield, Kalani Costa Tyler Adams. Luca Della Tori Weston McKinney Eunice Musa Christian roll down and then four words Brendan aronson has us feeder Jordan Morris Christian Pulisic to arena Josh Sargent Tim wea and Haji Wright are big surprise there. There are surprises. We'll get into some of guys that made the team in just a sec. But I think we want to start coach with one of the guys that isn't on the roster guy that was really for us the surprise when the news kind of broke last night, no Zach Stephan. What went into that decision? You know, I think part of it was looking at the players that we do have and exactly the roles that they would fill at the world cup. And we feel confident that we have three really good goalkeepers and the hierarchy in the goalkeeper line. I think it's set pretty well. And these guys are ready to perform. Sprig let me ask you, you personally about making a decision to leave Zack stephanoff. You've known him since Columbus. He was with you. I think the U.S. miss nationally, you back the many times. He was kind of your guy. Personally, what was that like to have to tell him that he wasn't going to go to the World Cup? It was really hard. And perhaps one of the hardest calls that I had to make. And part of it is looking at this body of work over the last year and a half and thinking that, you know, we needed more of it, Zach. And it's a shame. And I think he still has the potential to come back and play in a World Cup in his career. And I think it's more about him and what he's what he's investing and willing to invest in his career. Do you have a clear idea who your number one is? You know, I said it before. I think that the tendency is to think that Matt's going to be the number one. He's playing at the highest level. He's played a bunch of games this fall. He's really increased his level at arsenal. And but we have to see how he comes into camp. He did have a nagging injury, and we'll have to assess him when we get into camp. As far as goalie is like, how important is it to have that position locked down? It's important to have every position locked down, right? But what I would say is trending positively, Ethan horvath playing really well with his team, Sean Johnson had a good ending to his season in New York City. So either way, I think, like I said, we're confident that we have a guy that can get the job done. You know, if I could very quickly, you mentioned that Zach wasn't doing what he needed to do to get into the camp. I'm just curious, every big game in man Turner and an interview with us. He said, listen, Zack's gotten every big game. Mexico Costa Rica. When healthy, he was the man. So to go from the top guy to not into the roster, what went into that? Yeah, I would just back up a little hurricane, just think about time. I think you're referring to November of 2021. I did. So a lot has happened then. Matt's moved on. He went to arsenal. He was planning a really high level. He's playing against guys that play for the England team every single day in training.

"Like GIC's artists. They don't see names like Sebastian legit. They do see other though burr halter favorites. Especially you got like Jordan Morris, which to me is one of the interesting things is you break down kind of where the positions are on this roster, not the Jordan Morrison, a good player, but let's look at the other wide options that Walter has just for this window. Aaronson, Paul areola, Christian Pulisic, raina, waya. Do you need, do you need 6 wide options for a game like this? Why not maybe distribute that spot for? I don't know, another 9, one of the guys that you might have left off, or even somebody who can help you at left back, you're a little bit there. For the left back, I think you're going to get the left back to continue your desk as injury is going to force you to bring in a left back because you don't have cover for Antony Robinson. Because Virginia desk was that cover. So maybe don't go there just yet, but if we're talking about these wingers, you just mentioned Brendan errands and you mentioned Giovanni Reina. These are two players. I think we might see centrally in this next window. We might see them as 8. We talk about Weston McKinney, who's going to replace western McKinney, everybody talks about Kalani Costa, look at del toro. I don't know if we're going to need a little curveball. We may see a little Brendan aaronson, I think it's fully capable of doing that. If we don't see a little Giovanni reyna, who I think is fully capable of doing that. I think we may get a little bit of that right there. It's more of when you talk about players that he knows, you mentioned Jordan Morris. Well, James sands. James sands being in this list. If you wanted to go innate and you wanted to go Major League Soccer and there's no legit and that's one of his preferred individuals. Joining my high level, which has been killing it lately. He's a guy that I see has a huge ceiling. He's a guy who's been attracting a lot of European interests. And he still can't get on this roster. He still can't get a sniff, so that's interesting to me. There's a lot of inconsistencies here. I wouldn't read too much into the wide players as of yet because look, the players who are there, we know why they're there. Greg berhalter himself has said Paul areola, Jordan Morris, they offer a certain amount of verticality, a certain amount of getting behind, defenders that he happens to enjoy. So we know why they're there. Maybe these other guys like Brendan aronson and Giovanni Reina, even though they're, in a sense, wingers, they can play that central role. 27 names herk, who's the biggest surprise included for you. Aaron long. It's got to be Aaron long. For what I just mentioned a little bit of that. This is a player. You know what? Now that I think of it, I shouldn't really be surprised. I shouldn't really be surprised. Let me explain why it's a surprise, but it's not a surprise. It's a surprise because he's not played in over a year. This.

"And then we were getting tweets from our listeners in Minnesota, some of them who were saying turned out Paul said he turned down tickets for tonight's game. It's just too cold. I don't think I blame anyone who did that. It's not, and by the way, having said that to the people who showed out tonight at that game, massive props. Well done. All of you, you crazy crazy. You're out of your minds, but really bravo. They were loud. It was great support. We got a video sent to us as well. Who was the video sent by? I can't remember. I'll dig it up in a second. But another listener said it was cold, but they had a great time. But it's one of those games. You remember, fortunately, the U.S. won. So now this can be a fun memory, like the game against Costa Rica and Denver. Fund memory now, snow classico and this, whatever they decide to wind up calling this one. Wagner had a great time. But Owen Owen should know this that as much as everyone had a great time there, it was absolute madness to select this venue. There was no need to deliberately discomfort your own players in this way. And they could have known what it was going to be like for an advantage against the worst team in the group. Stupidity. It was just classic overthinking something that didn't need to be overthought in that way. These U.S. players are not just because Honduras is closer to the equator than the U.S. is does not mean that these U.S. players are immune to bitterly cold temperatures. Other than the northeast my whole life. I've been around cold weather for my entire life. You went university in Syracuse. When I go outside and it's 10° out, you know what I say? Get me the F back inside right now. Like, that's where human beings. I don't get it. The thought process was flawed. I was even more naive going into this game because I realized that we called, I heard that they're going to have to have heaters on the sideline for the substitute. By the way, for the substitutes, just horrendous. At least you get to warm up and run around. Well, the subs would have warmed up. But the first team gets to run around and after a while you can kind of work your way into the cold. Do you have your body temperature gets up and all that? When you're a sub, you're just sat there. So I realized they had heaters and lamps and everything and that they were trying to do to keep this team warm. What I did not realize was that this game was scheduled. At a venue that didn't have under soil heating. Columbus's new stadium. If only you all could have been in here with Jenna, he must have mentioned it at 35 times. The pitch was frozen. And they're running around like and we noticed it in the first half. There was a change and even in their gate. And the way that they ran because they were very conscious that they were wearing cleats on a frozen surface. Maybe not all of the field was frozen it certainly looked like. I didn't see many players slipping, though. There was a few slippages at the start. I thought it'd be much worse though. I thought center house would be going, I thought we'd see if it was fine. It wasn't fine. It wasn't fine. We've got away with it. That's what I'm saying. Yeah, this decision, I think, was a learning experience. I think their heart was in the right place. In thinking of the U.S. soccer as a federation, they're in this really unfortunate position where within the boundaries of their own country, they have to strategically place games to give their own national team a home field advantage, and they ate it hard against Costa Rica in New York in the last qualifying cycle. It was embarrassing for everyone involved. The team was furious about it, and so they're desperate to avoid ever having that happen again. And so tonight they overcorrected. That's where it was pretty much the same in and around the same while it was a bit later that they did that. It was like three games to the end. Costa Rica and then we had the home game in Orlando and then the night that shall not be mentioned. And by the way, I don't want this to be taken as any kind of slight against Minneapolis, Minnesota, St. Paul, as a selection. By the play there again, just do it in June or August or September or even if you want to get into October. Do it then. February, I think even people in Minnesota must have seen them been like, is this a typo? I told you our listeners were like, no, this is not a good idea. It's going to be really, really cool. Yeah. Don't do it. It's kind of sad. They need to have more faith. I think it was one of the men in jackets, said tweeted that they need to have more faith in this young group of talented players and let them go and play, especially against the team as the levels of poverty of Honduras in terms of their play and in terms of the team and the way that they've played in this qualification campaign. They've been awful. We should always back our own guys. We don't need to add elements. You know? The fact that the U.S. won tonight, it was a major bullet dodged for the U.S. soccer. A 100%. Fair not the weather would have been blamed. This was an equalizer. This put Honduras on equal footing with the U.S., this never needed to be this way. It would have been used as an excuse. Somebody would have paid for it. I'm sure some low level employee would have been let go. And so this was an embarrassment that was salvaged. Thankfully, because of the foot of Kalani Costa and the rest of the country. And also walker Dwyane Zimmerman Duane is the middle name. I like it. All right. And Dwayne D W a. Okay. I did not..

"I mean, when I first came in, it was pretty, I mean, I was just turned 17 and I think within a month I was starting games for this team. It wasn't too hard to break in and if I'm being honest and just overall, the whole league has changed. It's crazy for me to see the way that this league is growing and turned into honestly it's got to be up there with leagues in Europe for competitiveness. Like when I first joined, I don't think it was, but the quality that's came into this league over recent years is it's great to be a part of it at least. So I mean, a couple of years ago, we had some talented guys, and I think there's still a couple of us that are on this team, Jack price, Danny Wilson, me and Kalani Costa. We've all kind of been through it all together. But I just think once Robin Fraser came in at kind of just changed the culture in the locker room. We had a good team before and I think poor said it that we were in the O 7 and two team or something like that. But I think just the way the Robin changed the culture and brought in guys that know how to win and also guys that are hungry to win. A lot of younger guys, especially guys like trustee and Jonathan Lewis, guys from different cultures and unless I think just bring in the whole group together has gotten us where we are. When you look at the way you've played, though, this season, a lot of young players, as you said, not as much experience. What has allowed you to still be successful with a young group? I mean, we have so much depth in this team. So it's kind of, you know, we do have some experience with drew, drew more and Steven bench were following one or they've been around. They know what it takes to win. Supporters shield almost cup stuff like that. But I mean, I think with the younger guys, sometimes we don't even think about it. We're just kind of out there playing and we're continuing to grow and we're kind of just playing together. And that's the fun part is like I remember during the summer we had a lot of guys out. I mean, kellyn was gone with national team Johnny was going national team Eunice nominally was out with an ankle injury and it was just a young guy stepping up for the most part. I remember there was a game in Austin, I think late July and we had like three or four of the guys that played on my U 17 academy team playing and it was just so cool to see that all the young guys were stepping up and contributing. And helping us get winds throughout the summer. You talked about playing pick up with Saab Anderson. We talk about youth development all the time in MLS, but a lot of times it's Philly. It's Dallas. It's Red Bulls. The rapids don't get mentioned as much. And as you said, you've been churning out players. Do you feel like a sense of pride to carry that? You know, for the rapids? Yeah, I mean, I don't think we ever will get the national media attention unless we win our most comfort something. All the kids are going to be talked about me and Samuels talk about it all the time. It's like we had a great year last year and you know, other people get talked about. We don't really care at this point, but me and Sam did feel kind of a pride in kind of raising the level of grabbing and trying to get noticed at least..

"Deal with Vanessa. And the brief stint he played against Costa Rica that he was a tremendous in the limited time we got him to see him, but he's really expanded his game. I thought he struggled in the goal cup. I thought he was one of the big players. We had hopes for big hopes for and he struggled. While he's putting some of those doubts to RAS, he's getting to be a better player on and off the ball. Both sides of the ball and venetia. And I think it's a player that gives you a little versatility. Yeah? He's not that ball winner 'cause part of me thinks he's gonna go with Kellen o'clock instrument. He likes that physicality. He likes the athleticism and the defensive effort that Kalani Costa gives you. But if you really want to add another element of buildup of play, creativity, even set pieces. I think John Lucas is your man and I would go with luzio. Okay, so you mentioned boozy oh, you mentioned Kellen Acosta. You haven't mentioned two names in which we know are options for Greg berhalter, but also we know will upset some U.S. men's national team. Sebastian legit, Christian rolled on. What are the odds that you think we see either of those two guys either as a starter or as a sub in Jamaica? Pretty high. Yeah, I think rolled down as a sub absolutely. You're going to see him Greg berhalter enjoys what he gets out of a busy roll down and roll down to his credit. He creates things. He may not get on the score sheet with the goal or an assist, but he's always one of those guys that presses the right moment creates things for his teammates. He's a very good teammate, which is very hard to find at any level. He's one of those guys that Gregor halter knows what he gets from him and Sebastian legit. He just seems to be one of the confidants of Greg ber haltern. I know he's at his up and downs, but Sebastian legit at his peak at his best U.S. misogyny is a very capable player. I just don't think he's in a very good moment right now. Short answer here. We know we're going to see at least two changes because they're forced. We know he's not going to start scallion so you're not going to get that change which is one that you want to see. You did just beat Mexico to nothing like, don't you have to reward the other 9 guys by keeping them in the lineup, especially without the need for rotations. I would almost assume that you can't really make changes here. I wouldn't make try to you hit it out of the park when you said. This is a two game window. You don't treat it like a three game win, and you think you have to make these changes. So why did you want to put scallion for yedlin? Because I want to get him that experience. I think this is when you get his feet wet. We talked about it in the pre game show in the post show about how Joe scally should have been brought in last window. Well, if you're already late to that, and you think sergino dest might not be durable, you think there will be a chance for Joe scally at the right back or left back position because he's played both with glide back. You bring him in, you get him acclimated and you get him going. This can no longer be an excuse about this experience in Concacaf. When it comes to Christian Pulisic, the term judgment call was used her. Your judgment, if you're the manager, do you start Christian politic in Jamaica? Well, this changes with the Mexico win. You have the luxury of having that. When you don't need to stress out and think Christian political has to be your go to guy and also Greg for halter has already tipped his hand. He said that the field.
