Trump holds first briefing since May
"Today the president held what was billed as corona virus briefing his first since April only there were no doctors and no experts and no plans as to what he is going to do now to slow the spread that we are still seeing and increasing instead the president tried to convince us to now believe not to not believe are is not believe our ears, and not believe a recent memory because he's now suggesting that he's always been in support of wearing masks. Have the mass grade here. I carried, and I will use it. Gladly no problem with it and I've said that, and I say if you can use the mask when you can use the mask if you're. Close to each other. If you're in a group I, would put it on. That is legitimately good message. That is the message that experts across the country have been calling for since April yet, this is now. This is this is now for the president. A do as I say not as I do situation because the president said that that today what you just saw, but did not wear a mask when he was here with a group of people at the trump hotel last night well were wearing masks, and he has made no secret that he does not like masks. The masks it's going to be. Really voluntary thing you can do. You don't have to do it I'm choosing not to do it. I think wearing face mask. As I greet. Presidents Prime Ministers. Dictators Kings Queens I. Don't know somehow. I don't see it for myself. They've learned about face masks. Good in the bed. By the way it's not a one sided thing, believe it or not. But for today you apparently can count trump as pro mask. Kaelin Collins is out front live outside the white. House for US Kayla. What else do you hear from the President? This first briefing back? We'll kate. He said that his administration has had this relentless focus on the pandemic. Though the president himself certainly hasn't because that was the first time he's taken questions on Covid nineteen from reporters in that room, since the month of April the same month, which is the last month that he attended a coronavirus task force meeting, but what you did see from the president. Today is an acknowledgement. He has not made recently, and that's that this is going to get worse before it gets better. He said unfortunately, and he encouraged Americans to wear masks when. When they're outside of their home. Though just moments later, he was forced to defend that video that you just show or he was at trump hotel last night, and he was near people where he was not wearing a mask, and it's not clear that those people had been tested though today. He defended it by saying he was socially distance from those people. You can't really tell in the

"You said Kaelin about your friend and this this cold relationship this is interesting because I I feel like there are probably a number of people who got themselves into this in a similar situation where there they met somebody right before this home and I gotta wonder I'm one of these people I wonder what the success rate is for people because I feel like either you go all in and you know kind of immerse yourself with the other person because maybe it was only person you were exposed to the during or just ahead of it or does the whole thing fall apart or if you were sort of if you were sort of in limbo you know going into it and then you're not seeing that person and the only contact the you have like in this example is you know facetime or text or whatever then what are you supposed to do you know because I don't you don't I mean I guess it might you know it may be a long conversation going on though you're getting to know each other really doesn't stimulate people enough in most cases I mean if you don't really have a lot of of tenure with someone I don't know that I could just talk to someone from me then I get a lot of people that told the dating apps are for is just yeah the pen pals and then they go out with one person and dump the others but yeah I don't know I will have to get to we have a little bit more time by this is the interesting thing I mean when you think about people you know it's hard enough as you mention edgy for for people and in happy marriages the spend this much time with each other and then imagine trying to establish something and then on top of that is that was something with someone who you're not having any physical contact with at all point that interesting I mean how much face time body can you actually get before it's like I need the weight of a man has been four weeks now more than ever you deserve a place to relax.

From Adversity to Opportunity Pt3
"Welcome back to day. Three of the former adversity to opportunity series. This is C. Kaelin intention here is to help you to be happier healthier and stronger especially doing this challenging time. Yesterday we talked about who we are is what we consume so be very cognizant about what we consume. Today I wanNA talk to you about the importance of Self Care. Now you may say. Ck This is so basic. What I want to emphasize here is especially doing uncertain. Times especially during challenging times is even more important that we focus on our sphere of influence. A SPHERE OF CONTROL. Our sphere of rituals. Because if you focus on things that you can't control then you will get even more anxious more nervous and more worry but if you actually focus on your sphere of influence things you actually have controller starting with yourself. That's when we'll get real power real strength real certainty WANNA focus on here is rituals that you have to maintain your own. Sovereignty Maintain Your own control. Maintain your sphere of influence. Starting from number one will come on nutrition. You getting number two. What kind of exercises? You're getting number three. What Kinda. You're getting in number four. What kind of gratitude rituals you have? These are all things that you have direct control over in uncertain times. It's very easy very simple. I say a Maury. I'm concerned I'm nervous therefore let me throw everything out the window. Let me just go consume all the chocolate or the ice cream. All the sugary things on alcohol of the net flakes all the news that normally consume because this is a extraordinary time. I'm just going to eat or I can eat right. It's very easy to go down. That road requires a little bit more effort now to be aware to be cognisant to continue to follow through what you know you ought to do for yourself. The second thing here I want to focus on is exercise. It's very easy to forego your exercise routine skiving. Excuse of now. Having a gym is an example. I can't go to gym anymore. Therefore I'm juice GonNa not do it. I have my regular exercise. My resistance space exercise my weight lifting rituals. My Yoga class is very easy to use. All of that thinks you stop exercising altogether for those of you. That have regular excise rituals. You know that exercising enhance your mood in enhance your cognitive capability. Enhance your energy level. You just feel so much better afterwards at the same time. Also enhances your spirituality as well because it challenges you to actually be in the present moment right now so make sure you maintain your exercise ritual. The third thing is how much rescue getting how much you're getting. It's very easy just to throw out the window and just go to bed at four in the morning and wake up at two in the afternoon. Etcetera in times of uncertainty is even more important that you maintain your rest. Rest is directly proportional to how much immunity you have if you don't have enough rest. Your immunity is proven to go down proper. Rest is the bedrock of your emotionality your immunity as well as your cognitive capability so rest is super super important. Make sure you're getting enough rest. Make sure you get consistent rest. At consistent time the fourth thing in very very important for my point of view is the ritual of gratitude. Most of us are grateful during extraordinary moments. You go to a special concert. You see a special performance you go to a special festival. You go on a special vacation. You have a Special occasions like birthdays anniversaries weddings and so forth right. Well very grateful for extraordinary moments like that at the same time. Now you being forced to stay at home through social distance. It's very easy to say. This is so ordinary diseases so boring and therefore it's easy to not have gratitude for ordinary moments the practice. I'm inviting you to take on is to deepen your gratitude for these ordinary moments each ordinary moment. It's the atomic. Unit of our days are weeks or months are years are decades in ultimately our life. The more you practice being grateful for the ordinary moments the more you'll be able to appreciate your overall life if you can actually deepen your appreciation of the ordinary moments. The collective whole of your entire life would be so much more meaningful so practice. Deepening your gratitude for ordinary moments. Just like when you go to the gym you develop your capacity to lift heavier weights at a time of limitations and restrictions right now you can actually develop more capacity for different dimensions of freedom. Let me repeat that again. At a time of limitations and restrictions you can actually develop a higher capacity for different dimensions of freedom.

Trump tells Utah governor about Romney: 'You keep him. We don't want him.'
"Our politics lead today. President trump can't quit earlier today. The president spoke with the nation's governors. And and here's what he had to say to Utah Governor Gary Herbert About Utah. Senator Mitt Romney the lone Republican in the Senate who voted to remove the president. How's it been around me? The president trump on his vengeance store after getting acquitted and firing too key impeachment witnesses from their administration jobs as well as the brother of one of the witnesses and as C. N. N.'s Kaelin Collins reports for us. Now the president may just be getting warmed up today. The White House is standing in by the abrupt firing of two key. Witnesses in the impeachment inquiry they fired. They removed back to their original jobs. President trump has continued his streak of vengeance. Claiming lieutenant colonel. Alex deserved to be fired because of poor performance reviews while on the National Security Council though his attorneys called that obviously Asli False. CNN has learned before they were let go both Vin and anywhere Basseterre. Gordon Sunland or quietly planning to leave the administration. The trump didn't want them going quietly and fired them instead. Officials still claim it wasn't retaliation the president wants to retaliate. Because of the testimony testimony happened was in November and December. It's quite a while ago now in light of the firings Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer Today. Call the nation's inspectors general to protect whistleblowers whistle blowers telling the Pentagon vin was viciously attacked for bravely stepping forward. To tell the truth. The president is still lashing out at those he can't fire. WE'RE CONTINUING HIS ONSLAUGHT AGAINST UTAH. Senator Mitt Romney who broke with the Party and voted for impeachment. Romi you it today. Trump also touted his administration's four point eight trillion dollar budget proposal that features major cuts in eligibility changes in federal safety net programs like Medicaid food stamps and disability claims while boosting military spending. We're we're going to have a very very good budget with a very powerful military budget because we have no choice award now of course take. That budget is largely meaningless. It's a political. Political document is not actually going to go anywhere but this all comes as the president is going to have his first rally here in New Hampshire tonight since he was acquitted. Of course this is the first state that actually gave the President of Big Victory Twenty sixteen and we're being told by officials to expect him to make impeachment a cornerstone of his twenty twenty pitch to voters and expect him Antonin unrestrained tonight take all right Kaelin Collins with the wings live and let die playing behind her. Thank you so much. Let's chat about this so to Lou There is this push this spin by trump people that oh no. He didn't fire anybody. They were on their way out anyway but right after president trump fired sunland and had been reassigned from the National Security Council son. Donald trump junior tweeted this. Allow me a moment to thank and this may be a bit of a surprise. Adam Schiff were it not for his crack track investigative skills president trump might have had a tough time on our thing who all needed to be fired. Thanks Adam so I mean it's pretty clear what this was all about. Yeah yeah this is sort of a trump to step where he tweets something that maybe a little bit ambiguous that most people know what he's talking about and then his administration officials come out and say no he's not actually he doesn't actually mean that he means means something different and then eventually either the president or someone close to them spills the beans and says actually yeah. This is what I meant and I think it's pretty clear to anyone who's watching is that the president was waiting for his acquittal. Quito to get rid of and to target people he thought were disloyal. Even targeting the brother of a witness who no one in the White House and said why he was march out of the White House. The brother of Alexander intervenign someone who is not testifying was not part of this Ukraine scandal in any major way He was marched out of the White House. Unceremonious leave though. He's a veteran as well. So this is clear that the president is on a revenge tour and as Caitlyn said. There's a sense that more people could get caught up in this as

"That like you would think we know when you got back from hamburgers. We know somebody was in the House and didn't see you in the house. We know Kato Cy. You not going back until your house at this time and also that they can use Kato Dato you know what the when they have him in their questioning him they never say you know. Well you know if we ask your friend Kato Kaylin about this. What would he say right? It just makes me like double double mad at that police interrogation again. Yeah I mean. It's amazing that they had Kato in custody for eight hours and OJ was questioned for thirty minutes. Yeah Poor Kato so despite this solvay grilling at the end he's like can I go home now. Please and they're like okay. Yeah sure whatever so like. They're they're using him to get information like it. Seems like they're questioning him the way that they would kweskin someone who they do not suspect strongly strongly. Yeah it's just extra in Congress so there talking no J. The way that they are the only evidence that Kato did it was that his eyes were red so he might have been pothead or came. I smoke a little weed like you're capable of any amount of violence. I think if anything that should be exonerating. So Kato goes us to his friend. Grant Kramer's House grant who brought him to Aspen grant who told the media he was dead. It's a story of friendship and later on. He starts seeing stories stories and the tabloids that he says has information that only grant could have known and photos of Kedah Grant Nicole that grant said were stolen from him. OFFER FOXY GRANT SOCO has back to Rockingham the night of June thirteen. The neighborhood is by then totally packed with reporters random citizens who come out to watch weirdly. This is the only place I've seen this reference. There are restaurants that are dropping off free food for Oj. And the other people on the House as a gesture of condolence. What the fuck Americans don't eat gifted food opened in those bags Kato? Eight oh also has to fight his way through the through the crowds of reporters and lookie Loos and whoever else and this is these are the first media. Images of PAM is mysterious shaggy-haired Guy who hopefully at least one person who was watching the news that night recognized from beach. Fever heading thing into okay. Simpson's estate and in the house. Okay and I guess what he's doing watching TV. Yes history channel. Oh No channel surfing. Basically looking at looking for references to himself it seems layer. Maybe not looking for them. Certainly encountering a a lot of them breath looking from channel channel at this point. He's come back from Chicago. He has been very briefly put in handcuffs and he's been taken for his thirty two to minute very gentle police questioning. He's also been sent home to hang out with the primary timeline witness against him Where it would be extremely easy to coordinate their stories that he has it? Seems like a weird oversight on the part of the cops and Kato says I didn't see any emotion in him and that bothered me. I felt sick to my stomach. Each time reporter said something. Okay didn't like or agree with you. It shake his head and say out loud. That's not true. That's not true. At at one point a reporter came on and said Okay couldn't account for his whereabouts during the time of the murder again he shouted. That's not true then added. Kato knows where I was. Quedo knows he's my alibi Komo. Yikes where's Cato. At that point he turned sock. Hedo in the house for the first time smiled pointed and said Cato went to McDonald's with me Yeah Okay Kate Remember saying out loud. I was on the spot with everybody there and I didn't know what he meant by Alibi. Didn't mean I went to McDonald's with him. Yeah I said I did go to McDonald's with you and okay goes and KEDO knows I went back in the house. After Kato said in my head I went. No I never saw you go in the house after McDonald's and I didn't the last thing I remembered seeing before going into my room was okay standing by the driver's side of his Bentley. But now I could feel everyone's face on me. I said nothing but in my head I was screaming to myself. What am I doing here? I was afraid for my life and then before he has the chance chance to answer someone else out something of the TV. It's something reporter says Kato like out of another tense. Moment awesome. Man What do you think about it. Sounds like he thinks. OJ Is capable of this or like or at least he's entertaining the possibility that OJ's a murderer. It just seems very awed. They're in the same place at the same time after this crime takes place. Yeah and that for what he's talking about and talking about you know feeling sick to his stomach fearing for his life life you know having the Sensiti he's referring to you that like something is wrong like something is really wrong the same with Paulo where it's like. They're saying stuff where you're like so you I know like on some level you know but not consciously or if you do it consciously than you're gonna like stuff that in formation down or you're not going to admit it but but like you're describing the feeling of knowing what's going on and it's like you don't really know what to do almost with that information yeah and that Cato's approach as it has been previously is to like minimize the weirdness and like find a way to end the moment without saying anything super direct and then like wait for the next ex- weird moment to happen. It's like one of the many ways that people have found to like pacify. OJ Air to have relationships with him. You know it's like we're seeing the same logic kind of replicated here bright Robin Williams Funny Guy Jacuzzi stuff about that Robin Williams. Let's talk about that talk a little bit later. hato is in the kitchen. He's also noticed that. OJ has history. Pieces says a piece of tissue and the spoke wrapped around his finger he sees like clearly a deep cut clearly like blood soaking through. so He's thinking about that and then okay gets up and goes the kitchen and signals Kato to come join him and Cato's kind of talking to okay in the cake. OJ's making a plate for himself and okay says you know we went to McDonald's. Don't Oh you hate. Oh sure the police quest can me about that and told them we went to McDonald's they asked me if we drove past Nicole's house on Monday and I said no and Oh he says and then when we came back and I went into the House and Hato says yeah I think I don't really I went in my room and Oj was looking at Kato. Tornadoes later I didn't feel any sense of remorse. Case part over what happened to Nicole. Nicole Kidman killed. I mean that should be his primary response right now. Not We went to McDonald's right right if someone I love were murdered like I don't know how I would respond. I really don't I can see myself fixating on things that made me seem guilty. Yeah I can see myself acting weirdly but yeah it's it's worth returning to the fact as you've mentioned before that like everything March has said would happen is happening. Yeah you yeah you know because when they let him go that attacks he's famous simply. It's fine and Marsha was like well okay but like what if he tries to intimidate witnesses and what does he go off and immediately do well. He's living with the main witness. I feel like a pretty. That's a pretty relevant consideration. When you're trying to figure out should we let this guy go home or not? Yeah Yeah like are there any key timeframe witnesses who are dependent on you for housing. Yeah and WHO's sense of safety might also you know her late to your situation. Yeah Yeah and basically the moment ends without Kato saying anything more than that he liked once again kind of finds a way to be like Sharia Yup basically you know and okay I guess feel satisfied. The Cato is going to protect him at least satisfied enough for now. It's not going to kill him. guestroom sure you know. And then basically the household tries to go to sleep okays housekeeper she she. He is crying in the corner that night and Kato tries to comfort her and decides that he's going to sleep on the floor by her and the living room. Oh Yeah I know. It's like I look at him and you're like you didn't have a venue to like really do what what someone somewhere needed to do. Due to like stand up to this I'll I'll sleep on the floor next to the housekeeper though. Yeah sweetness napster appreciate the little things people can do. World needs little labradors. That'll Kato and also other kinds of dogs. Yes this is where I want to end. Kato story her now is just thinking about what he he describes to. Is that the media all being outside encircling Rockingham the number of lights shining in like God that if someone goes to the shades aides to lay look through and open them a little bit. Just this white light horizontal room which I feel like is something that these the media camps definitely happen like I I have the media has not become a smaller force. Obviously but I feel like the nineties were so about. You know these that the scandals that we saw would involve someone being encircle like this like you know just like the vans and the crowd of reporters and the camera people and the boom mic people and Gauntlet of people that you have to get through to get out of your house or into your house and that you know. You're the person who the the swarm has has found the crime and that it's all in service of what. What's the best photo? Oh you'RE GONNA get a random house guest taking out the garbage. Yeah what I never understood about these. scrums was what. What are you trying to get? You'RE NOT GONNA get in any meaningful information. So why are you even there. Yeah and I mean I feel like we use the term feeding frenzy for these things. Yeah and it makes sense right the the sense of anxiety of like we don't have our outlet there than everyone else we'll have a live feed of this and we won't and we need to get we need to be there to a fight over whatever crumbs fall off so we're leaving. Kato flooded in Click lights the next to the housekeeper up by her side in little dog bed. I'm sure is not true but in my head picture it now and if anyone comes after a her he will bite them. So who are we gonNA talk about next time. We are GONNA return to our friend Marcia Clark next time. And we're going to talk about her adventure her meeting Kato Kaylin and experiencing him as her grand jury witness right. Now we're GonNa talk about what a grand jury is because gotta be so so fun. Oh my God thank God I know I grew up. Thinking of a grand. Jury is the thing that you see online order. Sometimes where they're like. This case is gonNA be slightly harder order to prosecute than usual. We can't just send them. I mean grand. Juries are that's a bad explanation. Actually because they're like totally they're part of the process. Serrano spoilers spoil me fresh yes grand. Juries are one of the many thrilling procedural aspects of. Does this trial that we are going to talk about and I am beyond thrilled to be able to bring dry legal procedure into the story and to force you to get through it in order to learn about the gossip parts. I'm excited for all the logistics. And if I get bored. Lord I'll just suggest that I go into your Jacuzzi all employees.

'cause I've never seen this talked about elsewhere in it's weird okay. So the book says he finally settled on the USA channel because it happened to be playing the world according to Garp up. You gotta see this one part. Okay said according to Kato Okay was referring frank to a scene where garbs wife was going to give head to a young guy in her car park in the driveway of her home. The guy comes over one last time to garbs wife and she says no no no he says one last time so they get in the car and start Garp in his own car arrives at the House and a force of habit turns off his lights and coasts into the garage. Because it's raining Dr. Garb crashes into his wife's car while he's going down on her boyfriend. The force of the collision causes her to accidentally chop off the ahead of her lover's penis. Okay that was a very long pause. I don't yeah I mean I yeah I think this is the funniest thing in the world or something it will. Here's what Kato says. Cato recalled how they watched the scene and silence then OJ seemingly really out of nowhere said Yeah. I remember Nicole doing that with Keith. Nearly a year earlier biting the head of his penis off no guessing giving Keith a blowjob. Oh job because that was what I saw when he spied on that that was what he was shouting about when he broke her door down the previous October right. But that doesn't seem like the main point of the scene. That's not what the scene is about like you were. I watched that someone asks what it's about. We wouldn't say it world sack. Ah we would say accidental maiming. Yeah right so. OJ still store about this stupid key thing clearly clearly he you know. Just imagine watching arching that scene in silence with OJ Simpson so that the book is on Okays Talk Made Kato Very Uneasy. He was afraid. OJ's mood would change. Yeah Okay went on and the kids were home. Kato didn't WanNa hear it. Nicole was a friend of his but Kato didn't want to challenge. OJ either when okay finish the tail. He laid back lost in thought to ship the mood. Kato Said Not Robin Williams. Sure is funny man. That's very. I'm an abusive relationship. Logic logic right. We're Kato's already internalizing. This guy could turn on a dime. So it's up to me to distract him with something else like look at this comedian. Yeah so he knows on some level that OJ is emotionally volatile and he knows that he has to get him out of this place. Yeah I mean he is really. He's he's doing that work. Work he's part of this labor force along follow Barbieri and then everybody else then. Even if he doesn't know that consciously he understands that and he also isn't going to say. Okay Hey I am uncomfortable. Because he can't push back because he knows Oh jail blow up and he has seen him blowing up. Yeah that's one thing that sent her saying about Cato. To is that a lot of people well like they've heard about okay blowing up from Nicole or they've seen some of his anger but they haven't seen him yeah go after an Ecole Anna rage. Yeah seething the way that Kato has at this point settling he he understands. Some of what okay is capable of man. Apparently the only thing that finally gets. It's okay to shift. Topics is when Paula Barbieri calls. Because they're going to this fundraiser dinner that night he's calling to ask what he was hurt aware so after he talks to New Paula. Okay starting to Cato. Says he's really tired. He doesn't WanNa go to the event he'd rather go with Kato to the event instead of Paul Ike has. At least he'd have find with Kato. He seemed kind of like over Paula. In this moment. Okay so at the end of the day okay goes to his event. Kato goes out clubbing. And comes back to Rockingham at two in the morning and and goes to bed and wakes up at about noon and wakes up to an empty house. Okays as off playing golf so this is the day of the murders right this. Is Ken Twelve. Yeah this is. This is the morning of so this is the day. When there's the recital raid The recital is happening this afternoon or gas to go to fly to Chicago late that night and again Keta goes for a run then comes home. He's GonNa go to Santa Monica to play basketball with some friends but as he's heading out. OJ Once again calls for him and waves him into the a main house and so he goes into talk to him so this is like two thirty in the afternoon and talk about how his golf game went and then Kato tries to head out Komo. He's like no no. You should hang out and then he tries to call Tracy who is the center holds. Arain Cato trying to set him up with the the day before so again tracy talk for awhile and according to Kato Oj. Says you know. Tracy I've got everything a man once in the world everything I've got plenty of money. I've I've got two beautiful home but you know I'm just not happy me. Happy my God. What do you think about all this you that thing about how? The Nigerian Syrian scams are deliberately bad. I did not know that how they're deliberately bad because if they were reasonably convincing than they would ended up spending a lot of time on people who are kind of on the fence like people who are savvy enough to figure out that it's a scam and so what you WanNa do. Is You want to send out an extremely incompetent. Email to millions of people and like point one of point one point one percent of the people are going to be totally unsavory enough to fall for it quickly and so you don't waste your time going through all these steps with people that ultimately are going to drop out and it seems like this strategy of calling up women who you barely know and giving them this pitch of like I want something serious in my life R U. The girl for me kind of making them do this little tryout. It is like tryouts isn't it. It's like Broadway cattle call. And it's perfectly calibrated to find women with relatively we LO- self-esteem who are going to be like. Well this guy wants to get serious. This guy that I don't know at all I should just dive into this relationship and immediately start trying to prove myself to this guy. I've never met. Yeah I think you're right like Oj. Simpson is essentially a Nigerian princess. compulsively calling hauling around. You know he talks to Tracy and then he calls a bunch of other women. He apparently called Jasmine guy who he said to. Cato is like one of the only black doc women who he's attracted to also an interesting statement and then Kato's like okay. I should really go. I think I'm really going to go now. And and he knows that. OJ Is going to head to Sydney's dance recital at five that afternoon and he also knows that okay and Paula have been arguing about this recital. Week I can see being factor in Pala deciding to break up with him because basically Paula really wants to go and OJ's like no no no. It's for family. By implication implication. You can't come through and this is like. She talks about this in her memoir that she really likes being part of the kids lives and feels some hostility from Nicole Hole. That seems to come from partly from the fact that she is kind of taking on this mothering. Role Hits lives which is you know. Yeah Yeah and that she you wants kids of her own and feels on some level that her and okays relationship is destined to not work out because he doesn't want to have anymore children right right. So Paula is not being led into this family that she wants to be part of this ring repelled and finally fine like I give up and OJ's he's about to feel rejected from this family that he's trying to worm his way back into sue. It's I know it's weird to have that much inspired by. Hi It's dance. Recital dislike this little middle school answer. Kids were dancing to footloose. But it's say this is what families are yeah. Everything becomes a huge metaphor for something bigger right right because of course it's not the dance recital. It's like Yo whole to previous years of pollen as relationship. It's the seventeen years of okay Nicole's relationship. It's all of this history just hurtling toward this one afternoon in Brentwood yeah yeah becomes like a WWe wrestling arena. Yeah and so he does like well. I'm finally going to go. Who Play basketball like I have been trying to do the afternoon? Time for Cato. Cato and then he picks up some Sushi from place in the neighborhood and and heads home to watch the Knicks game his big plan for the night. This is what I want when I look at history. I guess one everyone to be able to have the little plans they had. I want I Walking his dog to get back home without finding anything relating to a murder scene and be able to watch the Mary. Tyler Moore show. I want Marsha to clean out her desk. I want to start dating Michael Bolton Nicole by half off picture frames. I'm June thirteen. Yeah imagine a little sliding doors musical montage right now. Yeah Yeah so KEDO comes in and according to him. OJ smiles and says Sydney was great and then the smile goes away and he says but Nicole was trying to play hardball with me right. So what do you know about how the dance recital goes from what we've talked about so far. My understanding is that he tried to sit with them mm-hmm and they said no you can't with your family and he perceives this as a huge sleight. Of course yeah. And it's actually even more passive than that. What happens is that Nicole doesn't specifically save a seat for him the guy and he gets there late as usual and colden save a seat for him and so he has to go sit somewhere else? So it's it's an it's important to make that distinction distinction clear and this to me is so typical of the kind of abuse. We've seen from him so far. where it's like Nicole failed to anticipate the very specific vic thing and what I would want and would make me feel valued rally I am? I do not doubt that from her experience of being married to him and of being and this what their relationship has become after the worst. I'm sure that she did know that he would feel slighted by that right. Like the whole point of this is that she's not tying herself into knots. What's to try to keep him from boiling over right? Also these are often the symbolic battlegrounds on which toxic relationships wage war. You're right these little things of like. I told you. Divide two percent milk whole milk. And you know. I can't drink home like these little things that to any outsider would be like whatever sitting at different Seton go chat with them afterwards but people within those relationships this is like a front in a long campaign of what he perceives leaves as constant slights constant cutting him out of the relationship and what probably her feels like. Well he fucking shows up late to everything you can't rely on this guy for anything. I'm sick of saving seats for this guy. Why would I even expect? Necessarily that. He would show if he you know Mrs other important events. Yeah they're both perceiving it as this completely symbolic act which it is which everything is in family. Wasn't there some famous thing where there was some count that they liked..
How Does the Wayback Machine Work?
"If a tree falls in a forest does it really make a sound and if a website light changes overnight did its previous homepage ever really exist in the first place because so much of our world is increasingly digital and ephemeral. It's not just a philosophical question. It's also simple matter of history. That's why the way back machine which features snapshots of websites as they age. Change is such a fascinating glimpse into the dusty corners of the web. The way back machine is a massive digital archive meant to preserve webpages that would otherwise be permanently. Lost Time without this horde quarter of data every time a page was updated or deleted it would simply vanish as if it had never been there mark Graham. The director of the way back machine noted in Two Thousand Sixteen entrepreneur article that the average life expectancy of a web page is about one hundred days. There are a multitude of reasons why these web pages disappear site creators move onto other projects web hosting companies. Go bankrupt or maybe the pages moved or replaced with new data and content. One place you may have seen the way back. Machines work ask more than eleven million web pages referenced in we kapiti articles have gone bad over the years. In other words they never turn a four zero four or page not found error because they've been archived in the way back machine technicians. There were able to edit those wikipedia pages so the references now point to archived versions of those defunct. Url's the way back. Machine is the brain child of brewster. Kahle and Bruce Gilliat who also founded the Internet archive which is Digital Library of websites books audio and video recordings hoardings and software. Both projects are San Francisco based nonprofits a Kaelin Gilliat also created Alexa Internet which analyzes web traffic patterns and was sold to Amazon Project Director. Graham said by email Vais Kaelin Gilliat had started to archive web pages in one thousand nine hundred six and in two two thousand one launched the way back machine to support discovery and playback of those archived web resources and yes. The name was inspired by the Nineteen Sixties Cartoon Series The Rock Doc in Bull Winkle show in the cartoon the way back. WABC machine was a plot device. used to transport the characters Mister peabody and Sherman back in time to visit important events in human history in a world where there are more than one point seven billion websites with the numbers climbing dramatically by the day. How can anyone possibly hope to catalog? So many web pages the way back machine uses what's called crawlers a type of software that automatically moves through the web taking snapshots shots of billions of sites as it goes. Some of the process is automated. But many of the requests are generated manually by a network of Librarians who prioritize certain types types of sites that they think are important to preserve passivity and for future generations. The crawlers don't capture every iteration of sites the frequency Linzie of snapshots differs by these sites. Importance very significant sites might be recorded every few hours others might be logged weeks or months apart most aren't logged it all so don't worry that embarrassing fan website. You made it high. School is probably long gone by now. The way back machine aims to capture snapshots of important content tent. Say the breaking news. Headlines created by major media companies. Furthermore it doesn't necessarily recreate the entire site and it doesn't preserve the data in a away the eat experience it with your browser. It may only capture a few images of a few pages and not preserved content that's linked to other sites outside of the domain but on a more practical level you've probably had the experience of clicking on a link on our web page and getting a four page not found notation. Now you're wondering wondering what was on the page originally. That's where the way back machine can help to use the way back machine go to archive dot org slash web. Type the euro at the site. You want to investigate in the browser history search bar in the results you'll see a chronological bar graph. That shows how many times the site was crawled and saved in a given year. You're click the year and blow. You'll see a twelve month. Calendar with various dates highlighted blue highlights mean. The site was saved properly. Red Means it was not click one of the highlight of dates and the site. Stop shots will appear click on one of those snapshots end just like that. You've traveled back in time to that older version of the site. If you want to make sure that a particular site is recorded to archive you can do so manually. Use The save page now option to save specific page. What's but realized that doing so? Only save that one page entire website and it doesn't guarantee that the site will be crawled in the future and if content owners want their material excluded from the way back machine and they can submit a request by sending an email to info at archive dot org.

"If you go over there she cried all hate you. Don't you dare go over there. Yeah Keta was surprised although he should have expected that reaction then he hadn't okay. He said he really sounded upset on the phone Kato. She said on the edge of tears. He's trying to manipulate you. Don't you see I don't want you going over there okay. He said I won't. Should I call him back. If you have to. Nicole Saint Quietly Cato ultimately decides not to call shape access is to do what Nicole says. Good what do you think of that little interaction. It's just again like you have to keep telling this guy like basic stuff right. You're like no Kato. You're you're being manipulated right now. Right I mean. At least he asked her my God. He does well if he's given direction right right constant direction yeah a- and then Elliott writes looking back on the incident Cato recalled by the time I saw okay again. He and Nicole had made peace. The incident seemed completely forgotten by the both of them. At least that's the way they acted as if neither wanted to admit it had ever taken place later on when I began seeing okay more frequently. He did mention it to me one more time although not in any apologetic Ebtekar explanatory way. I don't remember how it came up. But he brexit off insisting it had been no big thing so there's also living in this kind of mini society. Where for as llangollen? Okay or together. Nicole has to respect okay as needed reality of like. It wasn't a big deal right. You provoked me. It doesn't count. And and then a cold decides that she needs to downsize and move out of the House on Gretna Green with guest house and when he finds the Bundy Condo she writes cato a note saying that he can move in with them. They all really wanted to live with them. He can pay the same rant and she would only let them move out but when you find a wife Oh no. She signed the note. Love me at the same time okay is talking about maybe selling his house on Rockingham and moving Nicole and the kids to Florida. Okay starting a new life there which to me is a little bit sinister given the context of what we're seeing from this reconciliation with him trying to kind of control her friends spy on her and follow her but they don't do that. She does decide to move into the house on Bundy. And we're going to jump ahead to Kato's testimony in Okay Simpson's trial March twenty first nineteen ninety eighty five being questioned by Marcia Clark and marshes says. Did you ever move into the Bundy. Townhouse Nicole purchase in January nineteen ninety. Four that you were going onto Kato Know Marsha why not. Why did you do that Kato because okay ask me to go to his house? I mean it was part of the deal. I went instead of moving in with Nicole. Marsha what did the defendant say to you about moving into his house instead of Nicole's condominium Hato I mean we talked about it and it was sort of like the right thing to do not to be in the same house that I should probably not go there and okay offered me his place it was free and he said you can stay as long as he won and when it was. It's time for you to go. He'd let me know Marsha. Did he indicate with you with respect to what he thought of the fact that you'd be living in the same house with Nicole. Kato didn't like it but it probably wouldn't be right so again. He asked me to do it. I didn't really think it through right. According to Cato already thinking I'm not going to have my own little dwelling anymore. I used to have a lot lot more privacy. Yeah and at the same time. OJ's like listen. I don't think it would feel right for you to be living in the same house according to okay. Like that's where he's GonNa draw Lyon Kato's lake sure. I understand I was kind of maybe not super keen on staying there anyway. So can I his stay at Nicole's until I find a new place 'cause I do have to find a new place now I know he's like oh no he can live with me Kedah's like why can't afford to live with you know he's he's like he's come for free in Cato's mind it's it's probably just an uncomplicated. Lateral move. I'm going from one place to another this one has lower rent. Maybe it's bigger maybe there's a better TV V.. Or whatever and I think he's also like primarily looking at her Kato like maybe in the moment he's like I kinda wanted to find a new place to live. This is a better deal for Kato. uh-huh like in these big decisions like we do tended maybe think that way I guess and according to Cato he goes in to talk to Nicole and guess what okay doesn't doesn't feel it's right for me to move in with you and the kids so he's offered to let me live in his guest house for free on my God isn't that great and the call says he's manipulating waiting you Kato. Don't you see what he's trying to do. Kato think it through KEDO claims. He couldn't believe what he was hearing and couldn't understand what she was so upset about. Apparently the idea trail never we're and his mind instead. He tried to explain to her. How perfect the seemed to him? But Nicole didn't WanNa hear any of it. She became extremely upset. But for the discussion Qena went back to the guest house and started packing a few minutes. Later Nicole came by to tell him she was sorry her blowing up. She was okay with his moving in with okay and that she wasn't even angry for him for doing this to us. She said every time I make a friend he takes them away from me and then apparently a little later Nicole's Francorp encor efficient comes over and Cato's talking to Cora about how in Kohl's much more than he thought she would be in. Korea says maybe it's that Nicole was counting on him for the rent money every month and he's like. Oh Oh my God Kato and he goes and talks Nicole. And it's like wait. Cora said the you might naming for the rent money every month. So that's Tro olive with you like I understand. And according to Kato Kaelin the whole truth Nicole without emotion said the House Guy. Yeah she wants declared with happiness and conviction she'd wanted to be friends with for the rest of her life. It's okay go live with okay It's so sad that she he is perceiving the situation exactly as it is right. I mean as in so many chapters of her life. It's like she gets it. Everyone around her is like. Oh Yeah Yeah. No one is able to take her seriously when she just stating the truth of what's going on like he's manipulating you. He is taking you away. Her main he is taking king one of my strengths and turning it into one of my weaknesses. And you're letting it happen the end. This is what always happens. Yeah you can feel like deep sigh just sort of watching all all of this if like of course right like of course Kato is leaving. Of course Cato is leaving to move in with my abusive ex-husband like of fucking course. Yeah now and like why would I think that I could possibly have someone on my side. Like Ri- even try right. I feel like what saddest for me about thinking about that little moment as that KEDO actually really like Kinda clueless signs on this clearly bad idea and then is like thing and then actually thinks about it for like. Oh Oh Nicole. I'm sorry very like I I'll totally live with you. I didn't realize you might be counting on me. and He's thinking of Ram that could be a stand in for anything and she's just like yeah. He's go- Kisco Scou- the kind of privilege that you need to go through life. This oblivious is really fascinating like a sort of easily attractive breath friendly varsity baseball team kind of Guy Right. You're just like I just do what people tell me to. And then when they tell me like hey that was me. I'm like hey okay. Sorry it was mean but he's never thinking of what does it mean for me to move out that he's like like so many other people in the story. He understands that they're like he sees he's that he sees the way. Okays breaking into her house. She's making this nine one one call. He sees the fury in him that he says unlike anything he's ever seen seen before so like he's registering. What's going on? He's not like O.. O. J.'s kissed got kind of a short fuse. But it's fine like it seems like he's genuinely scared of him bright but just you know in the absence of overwhelming evidence to the contrary is able to be like well I think. But in the end it's fine and they're reconciling and Nicole's not endanger right. I like I wonder if like how Machiavelli's denial and just desire to believe that lake of people say things you find that they really are fine. Bright Red also wonder. Like how many the of America's lawmakers are essentially Kato Kaylin. Where like? They're not bad people they don't want to do bad things in the world but they are literally or spiritually former Varsity baseball players from Glendale who just are well-intentioned and need to be given direct instructions about every eh thing in life. That doesn't pertain Brackley to their interests. You know who dislike. How many of the people who inhabit roles in America where they really do need to understand abuse dynamics and they really do you need to understand what it means to have complex set of obligations to the people around you to your community and you know who just it's not a willingness thing it's a capacity thing bright it's also so interesting thinking about it in context of what we consider to be the bystander effect? Right where there's this that. All these people watched Kitty genevieve get stabbed to death breath and sort of shrugged and didn't call the cops it's like we think of the bystander effect in terms of did you see it or did you not see it whereas there's also things like this towards like he did see it but he didn't contextualized yeah. He saw what he needed to see. He didn't do anything about it. It's so life is so much a scary in this weird dark forensic files informed worldview where you're like people have the capacity to save each other but they choose not to because they're evil lay rats much less scary yet. I think this world were all these like hyper competent yet. Evil people are walking around words like no. The world is full of Kato Kaylin Island's Brett. The worst things that happen in this world happened because of just two people with a lack of capacity for what they're really needed needed to do in the moment when they're needed never trust good baseball players. Don't trust the prom kings. Yes they probably GonNa hurt you but maybe they can't help you very much either. Yes is that where we're stopping. Are we done. Yeah so tell us what are we gonNA to hear about next time. And you're feeling of just how the murders went down I okay. Simpson is the country's leading expert on Oj. Simpson there and that. If we'd say publicly that I am the country's leading expert Jeffrey. Toobin will challenge me to a jewel rule of manly arts which is very open to said. Recently as I was driving across the country I was listening to an episode of the Nancy. Anti Grace podcast. Nancy grace is like shocking. New fertig have okay. Simpson confessing to the murder of Nicole Brown Simpson and then like siren noises. Probably a apparently at one time okay. Simpson was making it. He be special to go along with the publication of his book. If I did it I'll guy which which was a very cynical cash grab an end so the TV special. That he was making that apparently was shelved and then brought back out many years after the fact and talked about Nancy. I'd say Grace Hagar according him saying if if I did this if I did that you know I would have looked in Nicole's Wendo and then there's this part where like suddenly the if goes away A.. And he's like an Nicole really did have a lot of candles all she really did. I always used to go to is like she wanted to keep utilities down. But Nicole related of candles everywhere. That's that's really dark and he just suddenly seems to go back into remembering committing the murders and I was listening to it and I was like I. I can't do this right now. I guess like had this this real feeling of not wanting to listen to it but anyway I know that you know for this like I need to go back and listen into it in full and think about it and process it and think about you know how is he talking about the rest of Yvonne's because he also maintained he had this theoretical person named Charlie. They're oh there was speculation throughout the trial and people still speculate as the idea that there was a second assailant you know. How could he have killed two people at once? The answer is that it's I don't think it's it all unimaginable to kill two people at roughly the same time we have reason to believe and the prosecution will later argue. That Nicole Cole was actually unconscious at the time. He killed her because he had rendered her unconscious. And then murdered Ron Goldman and then returned to Nicole. I kind of see it as when Ted Bundy does these similarly conditional descriptions of the murders that he did eventually actually in the first person confessed to Shirley before he was executed he he talks about what he calls the entity. Wicked this thing. That takes him over and that he feels has complete control of him. He's stalking and killing someone. So I feel like if okay is talking about this other person being with him I can see that being heard of being able to describe it now. Only if he's able to outsource that add to some other some other. Do you think because what we know from the police interrogation. It sounds like he went out to Hamburgers Kato. Yeah and then. There's kind of this half in our hour long period that he hasn't really accounted for much less than an hour. Okay so do you think sort of came home from hamburgers and was just in a rage Asia and went over there to spy on her and Through the window and ended up going inside or do you think actually happened. There's not a scenario. I find most most convincing their scenarios that I find equally convincing. I think so. And it's something I have thought about is like if he was so accustomed to spying on her right if he's spent so much time I am looking in her window. You know this is consistent. Behavior of his. He watches her having sex with other men and then harasses her about it. So it makes sense. What's that he would say to himself? You know after this dance recital where he felt that he had been pushed out and rejected by her and made to feel this way by her may feel go rejected made to feel unloved. And then it's like. Would he go over seeking confrontation or would he go over saying to himself. I JUST WANNA go watch like I do all the time I mean. Let me actually read you. Something and the entry in her diary for June third Nicole quoted the exact words of Oh case threat quote. You hang up on me last night. You'RE GONNA pay for this bitch you're holding money from the IRS. You're going to jail you fucking conned. Holy you can do any fucking thing you want. You've got it coming. I've already talked to my lawyers about this bitch. They'll get you for tax evasion. Betcha I'll see to it you're not going to have a dime. I am left Bitch et Cetera. No Way to heartbreaking part of all that is that she ends with Cetera. Yeah like she's doing this Litany Witney use they just like Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah et cetera. And so as well no so I mean the way he's talking into her nine days earlier I was also thinking a couple episodes ago as you were describing it. That he might have also gone over there to spy on her and and then he sees Ron Goldman arriving and then he needs all this into it too. Like oh she's having a guy over after she had dinner with my kids Blah Blah Blah right. He goes in there and confronts them and and then the interaction in some way escalates because with the question of premeditation. I mean you can't say anything weird because as we've said a million times so much about this weird weird or against illogical yes. It's it's extremely illogical to plan to murder somebody when you really only have an hour and some one is coming to pick you up and take you on a flight. I love how the timing is the part that strikes. You is weirdest thing. If I were going to murder someone I would. I would plan at at least three hours. You know taking a day trip to Bellingham. We'll just seems like much. It's a much more risky strategy. Right that yes. If you were sort of this Hannibal lector type of killer. You wouldn't set up a scenario like that you you'd get with an alibi etc and so I mean you know so much more about this than I do. But it's it makes sense to me that that he would have gone over there with a more benign intention than murder and then something would have sort of set him off once he was there. I think people very rarely commit murders the thinking to themselves. I'm going to go come at a murderer now. Right right right. I don't think that happens in the majority of these cases. I think it you know often tends to be a heat of the moment common thing and I think it's like how do we define premeditation. Because he obviously knew himself to be capable of harming her that he might have put himself in a situation where aware there were going to be more kind of triggers for that kind of impulse around him right and so even. If you don't consider it like textbook premeditation Brett. I I don't know it's like these are degrees of intent like we don't have the legal language to really talk about very well right and we have this binary between premeditated and non-premeditated. There's lots of ways you can put yourself into a situation where you know. You're going to behave rashly. Right like I think of all those letters to Dan savage where people write in. And they're like Oh. There's a hot fitness Nisa instructor who I'm really attracted to but I'm married and I don't want to cheat on my wife but you know it would be awkward if I stopped taking her exercise class and stop getting massages from her right and it's like well you're putting yourself in a situation where like you kind of want to cheat rates. You know you're putting yourself in a series of situations where if you were to take a rational approach you would be able to think it through and understand like I'm asking for my will to be compromised by the situations and putting myself in when maybe that means that I. I want this thing to happen right. Actually but I can't own that desire to is that sort of your general theory. Yeah in In a general way and I I can also imagine him. I mean he had to have had a knife with him at at the moment that things escalated. I like. I don't see a scenario area where he like starts an altercation and then leaves and gets a knife and comes back right grabs a knife from her kitchen counter or something. Well Yeah I guess. Yeah that is. You're right that's possible all or she could have come out holding a knife. That seems unlikely to me. Based on what we've seen before but I mean what do I know. I can also see him bringing a knife and just thinking like I'm I'm not going to kill Nicole or he could have intended to just threaten her right he could have brought it. As like I'm gonNA brandished a knife to scare her so she won't see other guys anymore right. I won't do anything with it. That could've been what he was telling himself on his way over there. Yeah and I think he also could have been telling himself that very loudly him telling himself that could would be seen as evidence of the fact that on some level he's like I kinda WanNA use the knife on call. Yeah Yeah I won't do it by BR. I'm just going to have it. I WanNa going to say but I'm not gonNA eat anything like my willpower will kick in at some point in the future and I think a lot of our planning as humans gives our future selves more credit then we give our present selves right like all able to resist this later absolutely all of mine. That's why these calls always start fifteen thirty minutes okay. So that's the working theory but with a lot of the details still love quite murky. Yes I learned for. Marcia Clark's mistakes. I'm not gonNA commit myself and I think that's fair. So Yeah rewind us where we meeting Kato. Yeah yeah why. Why don't you tell me every single thing you know or think you might know about Kato Kaylin? I will tell you that when I was watching Saturday night live when I was like eleven years old. which was my introduction to okay? Simpson really yes. I have very few actual memories of the trial itself as I was six and seven years old at the time..
Golden Globe Nominations: Netflix Leads — In Both Movies And Television
"Golden globe nominations came out of this morning so that's going to error the seventy seven golden globes will air on January fifth the Beverly Hilton hotel with Ricky Jr vase is the host the seventy seventh annual golden globe awards it's always it's always a fun time because the actors everybody very very relaxed that might be one way to say it they're very relaxed well a lot of them appear to be have snapped in old sold now Matt Roush is on the line Matt good morning how are you pretty good how you doing good to have this chance to chat with you John Heinz in for Dave Lee here and golden globe nominations coming out here and and we're learning more and more about this a couple of my favorites made the cut including Michael Douglas and Alan Arkin for the Kaminski method which is just a I just I just that is a a marvelous marvelous shell yeah and they really do love it it didn't get quite as much love by the Emmys and all but yeah it did well for them last year at the golden globes I think Michael Douglas one and maybe Alan Arkin dead but aunts and sort of the show so that was good so good showing from them although I do think when it comes down to it what's probably going to win the big prizes this year because of the show this what the Emmys last year is Amazon's flea bag starring Phoebe Waller bridge and she's a real rising star in the show was so traffic is only six episodes for to see them then and still that so made a big impact and it's what the critics awards as well so yeah and then the marvelous with this Maisel as well the the Amazon show that the just dropped last weekend and and so people are Startin side are just now binging a probably but that one does very well at the awards to be yes and the the Kaminski method is a favorite of the golden globes and the golden globes do love shows that have sort of really starry cast on them like Michael Douglas coming back to television and that was a really big deal so another another show I think somebody beat some people might be surprised got a bunch of nominations is the morning show from the brand new streaming service apple but it's a very starry inside the baseball behind the scenes look at a morning show that has the Matt Lauer type scandal it was nominated for best drama and the two stars Jennifer Aniston Reese Witherspoon were both nominated and they're just big stars and and the globe I mean people like Jennifer Aniston just like tailor made for a globe nomination so even though that still got some X. reviews it's in the top tier of the drama series being nominated for the clubs the thing about that let me mention mark marvelous Mrs Maisel how many episodes do they drop when they drop for a season something they do to him this time they did eight episodes episode so and then when we look at this when we look forward to what's going on I'm curious to know this doesn't ever become like a precursor though for the Emmys doesn't because the Emmys are quite a ways away it's not as it's not as tied to the Emmys as it is seen as like an Oscar precursors of right look at this is like a bellwether for what's going to happen the Oscar nominations and what's really happening there is the fact that Netflix is has just released dominated the field in both television and movies with movies like the Irishman M. marriage story and even smaller films like you well actually with the but that Eddie Murphy movie dolomite is my name got a comedy nomination so did very well they got seventeen nominations in movies they also got seventeen nominations in in television with shows like the crown which just happened just dropped in amazing affect the third season a few weeks ago with a brand new cast including Olivia Colman as the queen Tobias Menzies as prince Philip and Helena Bonham Carter as the sister princess Margaret all three of those got globe nominations as well so they love that there is that a show that a lot of people milling would be familiar with called unbelievable it was a limited series true crime drama that's had a mirror weaver and Toni Collette played detectives and Kaelin beaver a young girl who was sexually assaulted and it dealt with this serial rapist is really just a great series but didn't get a lot of buzz because to get swallowed by all the Netflix stuff this would popped out and got four nominations which is as many of the crown and the most nominated TV mini series which was Chernobyl on HBO so again in a lot there's so much TV nowadays it's hard for anything to pop through well yes I heard you mention that more than once there is just an awful lot of television these days so that's pretty much the way it it what it comes down to to hear so what are you looking forward to see what's coming up what's new on the radar is there anything new on the radar well not a lot new but I will tell you one thing that is if you're watching TV this week in what if one of your habits of the watch wheel of fortune along with jeopardy that you're gonna notice the Pat Sajak is nowhere to be seen on the set of they're going into their big winner promotion they called the secret Santa give away and Vanna white is stepping in for Pat Sajak this the next week these episodes were filmed while he was recovering from a domino surgery and she's in a guest once before at least but but and then the many many years they've done the show but to have her doing the Pat Sajak they'll be startling for people if they didn't know this happened with those episodes airing this and next week and the Paley this budget Disney characters on the set as well because of the Disney promotion so I don't know what that means group is going to turn over letters or what it was in late night you know we were back in the days of Johnny Carson there used to be you know guest hosts were pretty much of a regular thing with the take a vacation they let celebrities coming together so the almost never see that anymore but for the next two weeks on James cordons sort of rambunctious late late show the show the comes on on CBS following call there he's got a guest host filling in while he goes in films with a Netflix movie and so we're gonna see Alicia keys and item later on you'll see Melissa McCarthy said and then Jeff Goldblum and and Harry styles field the rapper lots lots of the under some quite a few more so for the next two weeks are we different Gasol's every night on the on the James cordon show which is a really fun show a lot of people don't stay up that late to watch it but again I would like to see more of more of that like having people stepped in when when the when the when the host goes away so you don't want to repeat mode and just spread the wealth a little bit yeah one of one people are gonna that job all right well I'll tell you what Dave Lee will be back with you next Thursday I just get to fill in today and tomorrow he'll check back in with you next Thursday I mean next Monday it's Monday for goodness sake well it's a pleasure to talk to you John always yeah I was of a joint chatting with you Matt because you because you know the stuff and it's it's it's good thank you so much for the visit this morning my pleasure thanks again all right
Impeachment hearing testimony further connects President to Ukraine pressure
"The member of my staff could hear president trump on the phone asking ambassador song and about the investigations the top US diplomat in Ukraine bill Taylor heard they're providing new information during the public face of the impeachment inquiry yesterday Taylor and senior state department official George can't were questioned by house committee members with a recap of what happened a look at what's ahead I'm joined by a bee season as delicate terror on Capitol Hill and as thanks for being with us today and yesterday a lot of explosive testimony in a lot of a lot of a tense moments Tom good morning yes we don't expect any new facts really to come out of that so that their new revelation about this new phone call came as a bit of a surprise we thought we had all the fact that these witnesses had already testified behind closed doors and under deposition transcripts were believed that we thought that the testimony be these public a hearing to be more about shaping public opinion which they were but we did get this big new revelation about that phone call the new phone call we found out about between president trump and he went out there bored in Farmington during which a bill Taylor the top US diplomat you Craig said one of his staffers over heard from talking about investigation so that's a big deal because it is the second time that we know of that in which trump mention these investigation and it's relevant because that directly implicates the president one of the arguments we had heard recently from Republicans is that you know maybe they're worse Tom at the state department wore some kind of rogue actors like the president's personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani that we're trying to pressure you crane to investigate the president's political political opponents but that these were people that were acting at their own accord and that there was no evidence that president trump was directly implicated here they there the revelation of this new phone call paints a very different picture and shows that president president trump was actually involved here he says he doesn't recall the phone call and of course those on the GOP side say is secondhand information it's hearsay and so they're definitely try to put this to rest exactly the president trump without the got the phone call yesterday he said he does not recall at that phone call and and you're exactly right that has been the argument that we're hearing from Republicans that we've been hearing for a look for a a little bit now but that they are certainly making hi going forward is that this is all hearsay and that a lot of the evidence that is coming to light as part of the hearings and whether it closed door deposition their public hearings now is it secondhand information that is here say you know when in this case an indicator that phone call they're saying well this is bill Taylor talking about doctor of his who overheard this conversation the Taylor himself did not hear the phone call Kaelin himself who had no idea what the president was really thinking or doing for that the main argument argument that we're hearing from Republicans Democrats are countering that anything you know you can make that argument but nobody's really disputing the fact here and they're all the thing if you're really concerned about here say then you should let witnesses with first hand knowledge of these events come in and testify people like Mike Pompeii Mick Mulvaney Rudy Giuliani so far the White House has blocked those witnesses from testifying White House would say that it's because they don't want to legitimize the inquiry they are blocked from just to find out who is testifying tomorrow we have an economy the former ambassador to Ukraine she will be appearing publicly she's also already cooked by behind closed doors she will likely shed more light on the role that Rudy Giuliani played here and that kind of so called shadow foreign policy that Rudy Giuliani with conducting in in Ukraine she was actually removed from her post before everything happened with that phone call between president trump and the president of Ukraine and before the the assistance to Ukraine with that helps you won't be able to shed much light on that but she will talk a little bit more about the role that you usually on a plate here all right thanks so much and as for a break that down force all do a great job we appreciate joining us again that's an as delicate her on Capitol Hill in

"Reality TV rarely confronts the issue of sexual assault which made last night's episode of the bachelor all the more unusual. This is a conversation that I have to have. Relationships because. It's a part of who I am as part of my story. It's not an easy thing. For me to talk about. That's contestant. Kaelin Miller keys opening up to her bachelor about a sexual assault. She experienced in college. She goes on to tell him how difficult it was to seek treatment and Justice emigre has been following this. She's a senior women's reporter for Huffington Post. Welcome. Thanks for having me for people who don't often watch the bachelor. How unusual is this? I believe this is the first time that we've seen a contestant tell her story or his story of sexual assault on the show and the show has been on since two thousand two so it's a pretty big deal. And it was a long detailed story that seems like it could easily have been abridged in it wasn't. Yeah. It was presented in a way that really gave the audience a chance to sit and listen to Kaelin tell her story, and she went into deep and pretty eloquent detail about the assaults and the. Aftermath of that assault. What went through your head as a critic as a woman who has written about women's issues as you were watching this on a show, like the bachelor, I wasn't completely surprised that this conversation was airing Kaelin was a former miss North Carolina. And this was actually a very large part of her platform. So this was not the first time that she spoke about this really harrowing story publicly, she's been an advocate for survivors. But my feelings on it were sort of a mixed bag. There's something about the structure of this show that sets up trauma to be used as currency something that proves you have suffered enough to be worthy of finding love and inevitably even one conversations and topics are handled really well and really delicate Leah's I'd argue they were here, it still feels a little inherently exploitative. At the same time. This is a show that has a massive audience of millions. It's frustrating to me as of urine as a critic to watch the show pretend they exist in a world where these kind of experiences don't occur even though statistically one in six American women will experience a rape or attempted rape in her lifetime. So in all likelihood Kaelin is far from the only contestant on this show who has experienced sexual assaults. And when you have so many people watching a specially women, especially young women. It can be really valuable to affirm them and show that these experiences are not only common, but also not something to be ashamed of not something that makes you less deserving of love. Do you think this episode signals some kind of a larger change in the culture of reality television, or the American culture, generally, or is this just a quote, unquote, very special episodes of the bachelor all reality television, reflects the moment that it is. Has produced in in some capacity, and in the last two years, the public conversation about sexual assault has become much more open and mainstream. So I'm not surprised that a show like the bachelor which does respond to its time albeit within the constraints of its primary structure would be impacted by that. I can also see them seeing this as a way to address an issue that they have shied away from in the past. There was an alleged sexual misconduct scandal that occurred on their summer show bachelor in paradise and couple of years ago that was not handled very well by the show they received a lot of criticism. So I could see them thinking that this might be the best way for them to explore something as difficult to talk about as sexual assaults..

"The questions that you can be asking is huge. I'm I, my first higher. I made some mistakes where I just I moved so fast. I never slowed down and I found myself just dumping everything on this individual. And when Kaelin came on board, I realized I could not treat her like that. I could not do that. I required that I constantly sit down and get clarity on what do I need to see from result standpoint from her or the questions that I can ask to help her understand and guide her and how to achieve those things and give her the free rein to get it done the way she wants to get it done.
