"Day one and two come, you know, the lead up comes to it and you're all psyched up for it. You're looking at everybody, day one happens, big signings, day two, and then it kind of just dissipates. You know, it's kind of like after Christmas when there's a big lead up and then Christmas comes and then that's it, no more Christmas. Three years is kind of the same way. And kadri still out there. Nazem kadri is still looking for a new team. And with a lot of teams with high salary caps, it's hard to sign him because given his age and how just incredible his last year was, but it didn't line up with his other years. He's a kind of an anomaly. And Greg was Shinsuke ESPN last week, wrote a story about teams that would be suitors for nazem kadri. And he listed the bruins. And it's funny because I feel like we've written that off for a long time. Given the fact that we figured creature and bergeron would definitely be coming back. And it still looks like it probably will happen. We'll get to that in a little bit. But if they did clear space, it would take a lot to clear space for kadri. But if this waiting game worked and let's say nazem kadri said, look, I'm not going to get a long-term high paying deal. I'm going to shoot for more of a three year deal, potentially, and this is not reporting. This is just me speculating. Three years at 7 million, even then you're going to have to clear a ton of space, but I think that's more palatable for teams, as well as the bruins. If they wanted to do that, because if you're still trying to contend for a cup, kadri follows that. I still don't know how you clear all that cap space. Also create you wouldn't be returning in that situation. There's also a chance bergeron wants similar money to kadri, at least maybe an incentives too. So suddenly you're spending a lot of money on kadri and bergeron, which could pay off. But what do you think? I mean, do you think they should do this?

"And welcome to the bruise beat on sea honest media my name is Evan marinos. You hope you guys are having a great day, a great week. I know it's a big vacation time for people, so maybe you're off doing some fun things or maybe you're working who knows something. You're just having a good time, having a good day. But even with things slowing down in the land of the NHL, there's still lots to talk about. And you know this, there's always things going on. The bruins just took a fun trip to Italy, lots of stuff coming from that. The bruins linked to nazem kadri still. Cad yes, kadri is still on the market. So Connor and I get into nazem kadri and the fit and what it would take to get him. And then also, I know we've talked about this before. But the wait continues, winner Patrick spurs are on David creature getting signed. So we get into that. As well. The fun episode, as always, hopefully you enjoy it. So without further ado, here's my conversation. With Conor Ryan. And we're here with Conor Ryan, Connor. What is up? Evan, I'm doing well. How are you doing? Doing great. Doing great.

NHL Free Agency: What's Next for Nazem Kadri?

"We have NHL free agency opening right at the heels of the end of this show at 10 o'clock this morning, 12 o'clock east coast, NHL free agency, opening today, a couple names obviously front and center, nazem kadri, just expecting to hear some sort of 5 year 6 year deal for him from fill in the blank team. It's a sad reality of professional sports. We talked a little bit about it yesterday. It's the natural decomposition of a championship team and he's going to be part of it. Right. And I think that's a normal part of it. You always hate to lose guys. At the same time, you understand when a guy gets an opportunity. To really get to really get paid and to have that kind of life-changing money that it's not only for his generation is the next several generations of his

Joe Sakic Set to Meet With Pending UFA Kuemper's Agent

"Well, maybe we shouldn't be so hasty in. Saying goodbye to Darcy Kemper and thanking him for his one year winning the cup, but time to move on to somebody else because as will Peterson writes that Denver fan dot com. Joe sakic made meeting with Darcy Kemper's agent his first real big free agent I guess intention, he brought back Andrew cogliano, that was nice, but that was just the appetizer. We're all wondering what's going to happen with the big guys, right? What's going to happen with Kemper, kadri, you choose skin. Burke costy, Manson, all these guys. What does it tell you that the first real outreach was to Darcy Kemper's agent? It tells you that you know it's a weak free agent market from a goaltending standpoint. So Darcy Kemper is probably your best option. Your best option might be willing to take a little bit of a hometown discount and I think a thirdly, I think it just points to the amount of respect that grew during that playoff during the playoff run, especially against Tampa when you know you're not a 100%, but you're going out there and you're just, you're just throwing your body around, trying to block bucks. I think they grew in their respect for what he had to accomplish. What he had to go through to be able to show up every night and get that

"All right, too many men on the ice. Over time winner, game four, nazem kadri, big part of that illegal change, what did you make of it? Because there's so many different ways that we can take this, starting with, it was a miss penalty, right? Would we agree? We would agree it's a miss penalty. As egregious as Tampa Bay fans would have us to believe or something right in the games that you've done for ESPN this year and for TSN that you've seen 50 times or more? Okay, so this is my, when I left the rink, or just prior to leaving the rink, the only thing anybody was talking about was, did anyone see the puck go in the net? I know. Nobody was really talking about too many men until John Cooper came out and spoke on it. There was a few people that had caught on or because the game sheet, the event summary that the league puts out is generated off the player tracking. It used to be done by ten guys and blue jackets, but now it's done by player tracking and so that was released and it had 6 Colorado players on the ice. Plus the goalie. Not an ideal. Not ideal. Whoops, we got a problem. Okay, so at least three times in game four. Three times. I'm standing right between the benches. I hear one or the other bench screaming. Too many too many. Okay. They think the other team has got too many men on the ice. At least three times. I can't quite remember if it was more, but happens at least once in every game that I can remember doing. On that play, nobody said anything. It was chaos because if you remember the shift, the pocket bin in Tampa zone for some time and they cleared it out. Guys on both teams are gassed and they're trying to get to the benches and there's guys going to the Tampa bench, Colorado's jumping on the ice, there's a shot. There's a player tracking. Now, again, this isn't a still photo manipulated the player tracking shows at one point their 7 Tampa guys on the ice and 6 Colorado guys. What's the two goalies? There's 15 guys on the ice. So my only point is there's no question kadri was on the ice way early. Up to four seconds, I believe. So if you watch, he jumps over the boards, he thinks he's changing for him to choose skin. You two skins go on up the ice, but he doesn't come to the bench 'cause remember kadri is not a sentiment. Yeah. Kadri is playing wing. But in that confusion, he jumps on the two skin stays on the ice and McKinnon's kind of in the slot..

"I will say when it comes to the betting of this, like it is hard to be like, okay, I'm going to bet there's going to be 8 goals in a hockey game. And conference final sounds crazy. There are better ways to break it up. You can bet on both teams to score in a given period. You can bet on over one and a half goals in a period over two goals in a period. So I think that's kind of a smarter way to look at it. Or what a lot of people would have done in game one is that player props, bet on McDavid to score. Bet on kadri to score better McKinnon because if there's going to be a ton of goals, somebody's.

"Because there's lots to talk about and the one that grabbed me from the night that was in hockey and stanley cup. Playoffs was the nauseam qadri hit and nasim cadre longtime toronto may believe now with the colorado avalanche for the last couple years. He just seems to save his worst for the playoffs. He's going to be suspended again. I think for a match penalty that he took after an illegal check on justin falk last night and It was one of those ones. That was kind of blind side. If you can think of matt cook on. Marc savard or chris neil on chris drury one of those deals where the offensive players coming any gonna take a shot and then someone's coming from the lateral side and just blows them up mostly with contact to the head and kadri ethic is going to well. He's going to be a little trouble right now. If you look at his rap sheet right now this will be. i think. I'm assuming he's gonna get suspended. This would be a third post-season suspension. And he's been suspended five times in all in his career. What did you think of the hit. What did we talk yesterday. steve i forget. Did we talk about the young junior hockey player. Who's part of class action suit now. Yeah like for fifteen minutes. We talked about it right. okay. I thought so. Well i couldn't remember can remember wasn't like a passing mention. And scientists have used this idea that This contradiction that if you go back and kill you again. Law there that is. David lewis published a paper defending the possibility of time travel. It is interesting that he did this a good ten or twenty years before. Physicists started talking seriously about it any case he succeeded. He actually succeeded in convincing most of the philosophers so think about time travel that there is no logical objection to it so this was against the background of certain views about the nature of time. Roughly view physics take seriously the space time view and he made all sorts of objections. But the one that seems to with everyone has to do with freedom but we have to be a bit careful. So let's just assume by said to are more or less reliable euro scientists telling us interesting things about the way the brain works. Some neuroscientists have claimed to show that the brain decide for you before you do. But you know those those claims and i think you had philosopher hair to talk about that are riddled with confusion So again if you if you wanted to say that we have free will only if we have complete control. He was not his own grandmother. He did not serve round. Have self worth governesses and wealth. And yet he is to be hell to pay. Oh we can always have. That aren't but if we always make that argument. We are rejecting distinctions. That i think should have extinctions between the truly insane if truly mentally incompetent Those who have irresistible desire said there are such things i think the jury is out on that and the rest of us so again. "And to at least try to act on those choices. Why do i say at least try to act. Because i think freedom of action is different from free. Will i could shackle you. So your body can move And that's the problem but it doesn't mean that you'll automatically loss free well so if you start out with something like that idea which i think is our understanding a free. Well then i think the interesting question is why is it so easy when people are told about turbine ism that they they actually panic. I i After teaching determined his of For a few years. I notice it buy foods weren't really accepting the definition they were sake. Determine is a mistrial. Except for my choices i spent more time explaining it and then i found the stubborn resistance. Students were refusing to believe it was true because it seems so obvious that if it's true we don't have free will. All of this is to say that. I don't think it's an easy matter. Show that the two are able but they are yes. So don't we have some sort of buyers for instance You know somebody who believes be. Don't have free will. would rather have evil I would argue that in some bias in a human being do have feeble and hence David always Flett ways to To prove argue be fee example. Sample having choicers at least in my view in itself donate. Don't really prove be have free right. the fact that be perceived choices. Don't necessarily mean those choices Okay good now. we're getting somewhere. Yes i think if you want to argue against for you will you have to say what it is that we're missing. What is it that we think we have because we we start out thinking we have free will that somehow is just an illusion as they say and one of the first thing to say as well but obviously we choose. We have experienced making choice. And you're saying well we shouldn't assume it is what it seems to be and i think you're right and that's why it's a hard problem because think about it. What is it to choose when you choose. You believe you have options. You had alternatives. You're not letting choosing if there was only one choice you are able to make right at. Its because determined seems to say that there is just one choice that we're able to make i e the first naive understanding of determination. The is that we would just be like rocks falling to the ground or ourselves for that matter so when throws you out of an airplane. You're not able to stop here. Descend to the ground. So i think the thought is that determined. Ism means that the same thing is true and we're never able to choose try or act otherwise is that.

"He on the altitude radio network, which we Here are a part of Abbs took a while, but they get it done against the yotz that opened the proverbial floodgates three goals in the span of about 90 seconds. And that's the way game one Goes. For the ABS and yotz and the guy that opened those floodgates. I'd say. Come on through boys. That was Nazem Kadri. And the more more you watch Noz, Um Qadri, the more and more you realize he needed to get out of Toronto so badly. As I was going back in reading press clippings. And looking at tweets and stuff like Nazem Kadri at 19 years old was getting roasted. In Toronto, like they were on him from jump street. Brian Burke, his GM. I went after him. Don cherry, the incomparable Don cherry. Very critical of him. And then that's not to say anything about You know, local papers and fans and things like that. And you just seen awesome Qadri. Everyone tried to warn us. Don't trust him in the playoffs. Blacks, emotional intelligence, He'll screw up. He'll do something. Okay, We're only one game in but I don't know. This nozzle contrary seems a little bit different. I just think some dudes It's like playing in New York. How many guys A. J. Burnett, Kevin Brown, etcetera. How many guys play in New York? And just They don't respond well. And I think that's what we're seeing with Nazem Kadri. It just wasn't cut out to be in Toronto. And he I mean, he added to his own misery with some of the decisions he made. Some of the penalties he took in the playoffs. But I just think he feels like He's in a much better place. And he's helping lead the ABS. I mean, you saw it stretches there. Ben are put Qadri with McKinnon and ranting in to try and get him going. Not some conjurer is the best player on the abs right now. And as we're clearly the better team. Game one. You think you're confident but you really want to see would be better if they played. The Blackhawks went Doesn't matter clearly better than the coyotes. I think the one thing that you can depend on coming up tomorrow. Is that the Coyotes will probably test Philo Group our little bit more. Full of grubauer he was doing sudoku. In the middle of periods like ABS were just so good on the fore check. They weren't allowing the coyotes to get out of their own end. I expect the Coyotes to come out with a lot of urgency. I think it will be. I think a little bit more fun from the outset. I think we'll have some scoring a little bit earlier than we did yesterday. But We'll see. Long is the good guys come out on top. That's all I care about. Stevie people need to know there is a little prep that goes into each show. We when we when we log on we can obviously talk to each other and we always always goes. Hey what you say. Here's what I got. What do you got Jimmy? I'm looking at this story that he's you know online sports services. You Know Yahoo Sports Parts and and other ones that we sort of scroll through it and we cover a lot actually about five minutes all the time right we'll go over But today's a little different. So here's what I came auto. Today's show prep it became the most talked-about thing was what is mincemeat. We went through the stuff. there's a story here with the North North. American women's soccer is something. Yeah well I don't know Cole Hamels sign of Kanji. Shit about that Babcock they're asked but not much of. Let's let's make some meat on a mincemeat. What is meant sweet? Well that's the thing. I was most interested in all the things we talked about in preparation for the show Knowing what mincemeat was is the thing that had me the most curious and by the way. It's a mixture of chopped dried fruit distilled spirits and spices and sometimes beef or venison. Originally Julie Midst meet always contain meat but many modern recipes contain vegetable shortening in his place. So it's not it's not meet with a bunch of mint in it that wrong. I think right mince meat. I was thought maybe there were. It was candy emits Stevie. Yeah not known up to this. Immense with a c. e. at the end or a deed minced meat. No there's No D. in their mints immense is a verb as well you can you. You'RE GONNA be Kinda mincing about right. I can hear the people driving in right now. Listening to this and the guys into his wife honey. Are there other podcasts. We listen to this the only one the only one. It's going on a jumped on apple itunes the other day and I said to myself. Wow when will anybody else join us here in the podcast world. I swear to God says we started this thing against. It'd be around the end of March. I feel like the podcast universe has on and on quadrupled. Yeah Yeah Se- seems it has a the name's on podcast searches. You know when the show's does show up when you bang on searching podcast. There's a lot of a lot of podcasts sucked. Though don't they ultras Yup. Yup they they they do these like the cool artwork and I say to myself. That's a topic I like and I look at it. Click on it and say well. That sounds terrible. There's no interesting conversation happening. I hate it. I made it across the board. Well it's so easy to do. That's why there's so many that that aren't very good. It's like youtube channels. Okay there's There was a Canadian girl called Lilly. Singh whose how to how to Youtube Channel title for a long time and and these youtube channels now are like some people pump a lot of money into them you know. They're the honey producer and they do funny bits and stuff like that. Well this chick eventually had fifteen million followers right and I saw a couple of her stuff. It's pretty funny it's pretty funny. She's I think she's from the Toronto area She calls herself a woman of color. She's I think she's east Indian. She's a woman You know she's a she's a minority. She calls herself and so when people saw the success of this thing she was the first first I highest paid youtuber and Foreign Forbes magazine making tons in the tens of millions. Okay that she's making off this thing and they decided to give her a talk show. Okay either Fox. ABC She's on after Seth Meyers. I think whatever channels and it's called later with Lily Sing and they gave her a thirty-three show deal and it's it was replacing Carson Daley. Remember that guy really late night show Pretty cool show about half an hour. This show is so I tuned in Steve. Because you know I stay up late and it's awful. Okay it's just chick was funny our youtube stuff but it's getting panned I and I've I've I've tried to watch two or three shows of it saying this is cool. You know this this she. Here's another youtube story. You know the the most famous youtube story I think is The Beeps Justin Bieber. I think jumped onto you to how he got recognized. And there's lots of those. There's a bunch around nine. Pudi buys right up there at the top. He's another. He's the Swedish youtuber who started out playing video games. And now he's just commenting on the world and doing in funny stuff and yeah. There's there's like probably a couple of dozen people that are just insanely successful with it. Yeah Yeah there's I forget the names them some there. There's there's a guy in Ireland who that's the guy is that guy dresses up like a girl pretends. He's a girl. Oh Oh it's another Irish or Scottish guy named Jack Septic Guy who's a little like Pudi Pie almost as popular. Oh anyway it's just huge. It's absolutely huge. You know and But they're good. You know some of them really good but but it's the sort of ninety five five rule you know there's tons of youtube channels. That are just what you know. Oh my God Oh my God why are you doing this. WHO's doing this right but it's it's you can just do it yourself right? Whip Amin. I mean it's all easy to do. It's not easy to do. Well though it's it's easy to do it badly and that's the same with podcasting and there's no question that there's a lot out there. There's not a lot of quality out there. Yeah so if you're GonNa do it you got you gotta do it well right so it's kind of a good thing. Actually you know that that that that the bars way up there. Now if you're going to have a youtube channel that you want people to watch but but a bunch of dough to be made right for these people is not like you say it's not a genre that can transfer to others that easily probably podcasting. I guess to some degree but Doing a TV show if you've been successful youtuber. It's a different genre altogether like it's conversation that has to be you know. Continue on and You can't make all these quick cuts and massive amounts of editing The massive amounts of editing is if you got if you've got that gene in that interest in doing all that work you can make yourself a decent youtube channel but It's totally different thing like you're talking about when you go into a talk show. The people are wondering how. How do you make money while its its sponsors is how you make banner battering your site you know? Look at Youtube Right. Every time we go to look at a video. It's interrupted seven times. You Know Oh right. Yeah with with with with ads on it but youtube and podcasts twitter. You know if you look at twitter and you follow a bunch of people and they follow you and and you know almost all the twitter stuff that you're looking at are just just just regular people putting up lame shit about their day Most of it most of it is now once in a while. So you'll come across somebody else that goes. This is hilarious. You felt some of the stuff you see like I forget who I follow a few like the tweet. A God is just one of the most hilarious things I've ever seen. You know the guy the guys pretending. He's God yeah the complements and stuff and it's edgy. Funny but it's all it's all the same you know Mo- mo- most of it's not very good but it's all because of the ease ease of access you know. Oh there's no permit you have to get right Steve You podcast. There's no so there's no regulations there there's no. There's not a bunch of hoops to jump through. Is there to get put a podcast. Their regulations from the you know if you start using copyrighted righted things than you get in trouble for that. If you say slanderous things you get in trouble with that but no now like radio station where you kind of have to get the permission of the CRT to make that go and usually involves millions of dollars changing hands. This is what makes podcasting cools that anybody can get out Darren to varying degrees have a voice. Yeah Yeah give it a whirl if you're thinking about it because there are are lots where people just sort of have this idea. I don't know someone says we'll just throw it up there and someone. I know a friend of mine who's was going. I'd like to put up and not not for making money. You know they have this thing of sand I'd like to put up a Like a youtube thing about how to get a mortgage you know and immediately going. I don't know about that and I thought you know what fucking fucking give it a whirl you just give it a whirl a lending in a qualifying all this stuff and so you just never know you never eleven. Oh yeah they medications stuff huge and you're that diy stuff like initially watching okay. I've got A. I've got a certain lamp on my desk and it's not working properly quickly. Google how to fix certain lamp and the guy that's got it and then in itself it's not a very entertaining video. But he's giving you information and the things got one hundred thousand people who've looked at the thing right tomase right I I my two sons and My my son Jake is twenty.
