"At riley on on the twitter and you'll he likes to plug the show and do things i got. I got the twitter open. I have the twitter account more or less because it's a necessary evil for what we do here. But the the Twitter pages. I have up right now is actually that of Monday dr al zaidi who famously. Twelve years ago on monday this week through a iraqi journalists threw his shoe. At george w bush ad i thought one of the twitter moments of the week was waking up on monday and one of the first things i saw was acknowledgement from this iraqi journalists of the florida. Shoot coster or it's it's great how we can connect things that are just so unrelated in the world to each other by A simple tag or a a a simple tweet. I love that that's awesome. I mean i remember when that happened. I thought it was actually pretty funny moment. True shoot president voice. i got the gift just. You're running on repeats. All i see is it's the throw it ed bush vigilantly ducks this thing. I mean it doesn't hit him but he threw that thing pretty viciously nice. No definitely definitely one of those classic moments in american politics so buddy night da football was of great interest to me per perhaps more so than in any other week because cleveland browns are playing. Play the baltimore ravens in a big game Afc wildcard chase ahead of the play this classic game. But you know you get you get on social media or you watch any of the talking heads the next morning and everybody's just got a chirp chirp chirp about Ill the ill whether this guy is a hall of famer or you should be out of the league. I you know. I think the reaction yeah. We knew we. We can praise social media and twitter in one breath and then kind of knock it in the next because we always have to have a fresh opinion and you can't just go with the status quo because it makes for a boring conversation and number one overall picks them thinking back the last couple of years. You know jim miss. Winston goes number one overall the tampa bay twenty fifteen. He's already with a new team holding a clipboard. When the star at least one. The starters healthy expectations for a number one overall. Pick versus expectations for a guy that Maybe sits in the green room a little bit longer than anticipated. Almost to the point where you know the the networks are embarrassing. Him You know thinking of brady quinn of thinking of aaron rodgers. but nobody had those high expectations of aaron rodgers. Coming out of cal now if he goes one to san francisco out of said alex smith. I think that it's a whole different. That the the stories of alex smith and aaron rodgers have to be completely different just based on where they were taken. Oh no no question but i. I honestly thought that that rogers really was going to san francisco. I mean he he does. He played at cal berkeley. I mean he was. He was playing. You know not not far away from the niners playing at the time which was candlestick. So he's playing like what forty miles away and yet somehow he doesn't impress mike. No one i might. Just i mean he just he just had. He had a huge crush on alex. Smith now is going to be. His guy. And alex smith turned out to be a pretty good quarterback but at the expense of the fact that you know alex smith really went through his growing pants because every single year he had a new offensive coordinator so he never Was able to really find his own as a quarterback until Harbach came along and then he gets hurt. And then instead of calling. Kabir nick and alex smith kind of left left out to pasture and smith going to kansas city. And that's kind of what his career really sort of took off if you will So yeah you know what i it's. It's too hard to predict the draft although you know certainly You know when you are a top number one pick top three tech really change their fortunes of your of nfl franchise but then again maybe not. I mean some guys do really well. I mean Tom brady drafted right. Wasn't he drafted pretty pretty lowest. Yeah and the raiders for his career for the tuck rule. I never forget so. I you know i. I've told you the story. I think. I change the channel. I think that i went over to the nfc game which was probably still pre-game show and you know watching that. And for some reason you know. I think i flipped over. Just watch the the raiders and gruden received their afc championship trophy and they got ready for the winter of. I can't even remember who tampa bay was playing in that. Nfc championship that. You're but i flipped it over at the patriots. Still have the ball. I'm like how did they get the ball back. Your oakland could. Neil the neal the lockout so i really miss the whole rigmarole of of explaining that. The mental gymnastics. If you will love figuring out how to give. Tom brady bella chicken and the patriots. The ball back so that i wanna stay gestalt viteri. Cad kicked the game winning field goal in the snow. It wasn't the game winner. That was so impressive. I think it was the one four. Because i gave him into. Overti- year raiders fan. You gotta be able to tell me this right though. I'm sorry questioning quick. Viteri actually had to make kicks. He made a long way really go forty five yard or in the snow. I think though the game winner must have happened in overtime and it was kind of a more of a chip shot. I you know what the funny thing is. It's almost like with the catch right like you don't remember anything happened in the rest of the game. All i remember is is that play. And then you know. The raiders being called for like the sack didn't count because you know brady was in the process of throwing a forward pass which is complete. Bs and i gotta be careful. I don't want him standing seeking fined by the fcc. Because i'm still really ticked off the day over that play and the niners when when when when montana threw the ball. Dwight clark the dallas cowboys still well over a minute to go and they weren't able to complete a final drive but anyway that's know what i'm saying. The way that that against shown to us in the present in the present tense It's almost like a clark caught the ball and walked off the and walked off the field to san francisco without right. So that's what i'm saying. The same thing tuck rule. I mean the tuck rule game. Nobody remembers what happened. Outside of that. Play i say i'm i know you do but all i can think of if that play. Oh they didn't play. I got my years. Nick stuff because temp bidding goes the super bowl because oakland also didn't go to the super bowl and those were the teams that played each other the following year that was the as the patriots rams year so it might have been the rams tampa bay because they played that year in at least one at fc c. championship. I might be a few years off on this. I think that that was when the rams actually went onto win the super bowl and to illustrate the point that you know sometimes you hit on these number one overall overalls. Sometimes you just get these guys out of the middle of nowhere. I mean brady versus kurt warner you have an undrafted free agent that was playing arena football because he played his college ball at northern iowa. And then you have. Tom brady who played on a national championship team michigan by You'll never really had know michigan kind of you know under lloyd carr was playing that two quarterback system a lot so i think that he was. He was splitting time with. Maybe it was drew henson who was drafted by the new york. Yankees never had much of a baseball career ended up trying to y'all come back with the dallas cowboys around two thousand and one but you know it was. It was all for not at at that point. But i i mean being the number one overall pick and we are talking number. One overall picks here on foul territory jefferson riley on hang out with you on a tuesday night You know the pressure on baker mayfield versus versus lamar jackson. Lamar jackson gets a lot of passes. And y- mitchell trubisky. He's gotta live with the fact that he's a number one overall pick but he was the top quarterback taken in a draft. That patrick mahomes who you know. We almost believe is a surefire hall of famer very early in his.

"Six ten. WTVN reports confirmed that sports network does better when it sticks to sport believe that there it is man mighty. I mean that was the worst when Chanel hill was on there. And they had Michael Smith was on there. The it wasn't even sports center. It was like social Justice center. It was bizarre. And remember when like you I wonder what, what was the score the reds? Oh, it's calling Kabir Nick again. Right. All right. Well, the five minutes later, the see what they got the still calling Kabir Nick remember when she tweeted, Trump is a white supremacist, two surrounded himself with other white supremacist. And then she one time she told white men to shut up and listen. Dear remember that? Yeah. This is what someone who is now that is her Twitter account, so that wasn't actually on the air. Okay. That's fine. You knew where she and she would drag that you could feel it when she was hosting the six PM sports center, you, you would just alienated at least half if not more, because would you not tend to agree? I know this is an over generalization. Would you do not agree that there are probably slightly more? Conservative sports fans than say progressive or liberal sports fan. I, I don't know the answer to that. But the, the real answer is, when you turn on ESPN you're not looking for anything political, what so ever, you're turning it on to hear about sports sports updates to watch a sports.

"Although I've been wrong once before on this. I'm gonna make a bold prediction that one of three teams picks him up whether or not kaffir Nick is thrown his last pass into the pros. The settlement seems like a pretty good deal for him at the very least it's a concession by the NFL that they didn't want this case to go to trial. But it also means the public may never really know if anything was going on behind the scenes to keep him out of the league. And there's nobody better to talk with us about. This dramatic hill. Staff writer for the Atlantic Jamal. Thanks so much for coming on the takeaway, thank you for having. So what we know? We don't know a lot about the settlement here. But what can we infer from this? I think you can definitely infer that the NFL was afraid for this to go to trial because. This. There would have been a lot of things in the discovery process that would have been allowed. And there were reports that Colin Kaepernick camp had text messages emails sensitive items that the league would never have wanted the public to see and just in general. They're very wary about allowing not just the public. But in particular, the NFL players association any kind of indication about how conversations about players and the inner workings of the league take place that people have to remember that they settle the concussion lawsuit before that could fully go to trial. And this was part of the reason why is that they didn't want any of the information. Emails phone Eric text messages. Anything memos to come out that would have given people an idea, I think frankly about how cold blooded this billion dollar industry can be. So you can not only just infer that there was a fear on the NFL's part. But you also can infer that this is an the closest to an admission of guilt that Colin Kaepernick will probably ever receive or those who support him. This is the closest thing you'll get to that. We also talked me that Eric Reed who has capper cabernet former teammate on the San Francisco forty Niners also signed a settlement with the NFL over a grievance that he filed with the NFL last year. Now, unlike capper Nick Reed did end up getting signed by team for two thousand eighteen what was Reid's role in all of this over a read was a former teammate of Collins. He's very close friend, and he joined him in this protest and so much like Colin he received a lot of backlash. He also does a tremendous amount of charity work on the side. And one of the things that became public that he discussed is how in his charity events, you have businesses that were pulling out because of the protests, he decided to engage in with Colin. So it not only cost him from a league earning standpoint because we have to remember there was a period of time where he was also unsigned even though he eventually did get signed and some. Of the same excuses that people with us with Colin Kaepernick talking about how his last few seasons were as successful, as you know, maybe during the teeth of his career where he became a big star Airdrie was a Pro Bowl safety. And so his recent output, certainly warranted. A player his caliber should have been picked up right away. Should never have been a free agent a very long, but it extended, and I think it got to a point where necessity took over, and there was probably more of a of a clean avenue for him to come back to the league. Because in the NFL there's a different standard for quarterbacks as it is for someone who plays. Eric Ries position quarterbacks are considered the leader in the faces of team. They're out there so much more. And so I think the expectation from a public relations standpoint is much different for Colin cabinet than it is for Eric Reed. Which is why his signing eventually took place. But. Nevertheless leading up to that. Make no mistake there at lost wages and lost the amount of income that Eric wreak. It's certainly claim. Also, I'm wondering what this means for the settlement. Means for the future of activism within the NFL. I mean, I'm especially interested to know what it means for players who are at quarterbacks who don't make the type of money that a quarterback like Kabir Nick would have made who aren't as visible as Colin. Is there a sense that this settlement implicitly or indirectly tells players? It's okay to be political or could there be a chilling effect? I actually worry about the opposite effect. I do worry about it more being a chilling effect. Because you have to look at what Callan capper Nick has sacrificed up until now, even though his attorney has discussed the fact that he believes it's a possibility that a team will sign him. I personally do not carry that believe that is still cost him two years of his career, and it may cost him his entire career. There's a lot of scrutiny a lot of backlash a lot of negativity that Colin Kaepernick face and lucky for him before he sort of before his NFL career kind of came to a halt. He was. Was on a really big contract that I'm sure was able to kind of Wade through as he went through this process as you mentioned a player with lesser means may not have that ability to do that. And also understand that part of the reason why I think the NFL also settled is that they didn't want this. They didn't want there to be that a loss of the entered into public record. Meaning that this would have become a precedent case. And that if another player did decide to protest or to do something the equivalent of a Colin Kaepernick, and Eric redid they could point to this case as precedent that the NFL is capable of colluding players who speak out. So legally, there's no precedent that exists. So a player that decides that they want to bring awareness to issues that matter with them will still probably face the same amount of backlash, and I'm not sure if a lot of these players, many of whom are not guaranteed contracts. In fact, the majority are not since that's just not the way the league generally does business. I'm not sure if this case even this settlement is going to inspire them to follow in his footsteps Jamal hill as a staff writer for the Atlantic..

"And that's what he's trying to win back. But once again, I don't have all the answers. And even the people who I thought would have some of the answers didn't have them. Because a lot of it doesn't make sense. Yup. I'm really curious. I would bet Colin Kaepernick if he wrote a book get a huge advance it really writing a book. Right. Can he write about this in detail? I don't think so because if there's a nondisclosure. I don't think he can write about that will be a tough one to celebrate. It would be if I if I was going to be, you know. Simon and Schuster. And I said, hey, I need the details here, and whether he's allowed to say anything or not though, it's. It. It's quite a puzzle jigsaw puzzle here, but I just don't see calling Kabir Nick playing anyplace. Yeah. Mclovin. How about an you know, there was a report that he wanted twenty million from the alliance of American football. You know, what about an alternately down the road if he really wants to place thirty one thirty one and he's got nine years. You don't wanna play in the A F F? Whatever it is the exit. That's you're not you're not doing that. Can't see the because then I started go, well where could he land in? I think if he didn't have member when he had the Castro shirt like, you know, then you can't be in Miami. I can't have you there in south beach. Even though Miami it looks like that would be a great place for him. If he didn't have this. So it's complicated. And I think from what I'm told it surprised the players association because they were ready to go to trial in a month or so in the spring against the NFL, but does capture Nick have, you know, is there a handshake agreement that the patriots are going to bring him in or the Panthers. I don't know. But I do think if I'm camper Nick, I wanna make sure if I'm ready to go back in in my starting can I be a backup quarterback is that what this is. You know, di- did I prove every? Anything if on the backup quarterback, I think it's start or or, you know, keep keep that mystery martyrdom, you know, their front and center. I'm really curious is he more or less use? I think one of a settlement in the room as long as lawsuit is pending. There's no way team would take them because I was like breaking ranks. I wonder if he's to what levels he more sizable. Now just that the lawsuit is done because the his whatever baggage positive or negative depending on you look at it is still there. There's no lawsuit hanging over the NFL's at. Yeah. For two. Yeah. I don't know who wants to touch him at this point. It doesn't make sense if they didn't wanna before. Now, all of a sudden they're gonna want him just because the paid some money by the NFL trying to go away. And I don't put a pass the owners where they said, look, you know, what we're going to pay this give a donation new charity, and we're gonna have we're gonna make sure one of our owners invite you and you're going to get a chance to play like what owner can say you come in. And you're my starter. One owner, can you know, you can't. Jacksonville's owner shod con-going to say, hey, all right. I'll take him in. Hey, if that means this goes away, I'll take him in. And and we'll see if we can having play. I just don't see that happening. And I don't think like Marghera goes is all about attention. You know, soon as this is over he's right on CNN. How come he's a lot of talk. Yeah. I mean, that's what they do. But he wants publicity. So he wants, you know, this the the optics to be hey, I won this thing. I took on look what I did. I got you know, he's either on or CNN and saying this, so I'm waiting I see capital says anything PJ tour had south of the border. Tiger Woods headlines. "Lawyer. But I did stay at a Holiday Inn express that they had the NFL on something. So pompous communication that. If it went public would just hurt the league, and what the league's trying to do if you think about the state of the NFL address with Goodell before the Super Bowl, the Rams and the patriots. There wasn't a lot of negatives. Talking about concussions. The referee in the NFC championship game. And that was there. There wasn't domestic violence. There wasn't concussions. There wasn't PD's. There wasn't that. The league is hammered money. There was none of that. So instead of keeping the camper, Nick. Collusion suit moving forward. He just cut a deal and the NFL has the money. You know, they they did the multibillion dollar settlement for concussions. Nobody could talk about anything. If you want to share it. It's all confidential. And I think this is where some. Kabir Nick and said, wait a minute. Are you about Justice intrude change? Or is it about a pet day? Tell me anybody listening if somebody offered you forty or eighty million dollars if you think you were wronged in the workplace, right? And you're not the no one has full control to do whatever they want to do in this country. Don't you have laws yet? Even the president. Can't do what he wants to. Okay. Everything. Someone offered you forty reportedly forty to eighty million bucks. Are you going to take that and be done with it? And if he wants to like, I said privately help whatever social change he wants to as long as he's not ripping the flag the anthem. Or stereotype and law enforcement. Hey, man, they'll get it done. I'll support you. Everybody will support you go. There are cities where there were police officers, and I'm telling you, it's a small percentage is one video does represent all along forcement just like one video black man attack. You know, white police officer doesn't represent every black person in this country. Colin kaepernick. But he must have had something on the NFL him and his lawyers. Because he he got paid and Eric Griego paid twice evergreen not paid by the Panthers maybe got paid again. So I'll take your feedback on Capri Nick, also will get more into getting rid of all these all star weekends. Are. They worth it to. You have no evidence to back data, and it's not the sixties seventies. And people compare and camper Nick to Martin Luther King or Muhammad Ali or Jackie Robinson. Come. All. "And that this settlement is a result of a large financial payment to the to the aggrieved parties. So we don't know the details of it. Hopefully, we can find it out. But confidentiality agreement means it's be tricky. Then I'm confused myself. I mean, this is this is because of the so-called collusion and explained to me collusion. Well, it mean collusion is is a group of business owners in the same business conspiring to deny employment or to suppress wages or to engage in in business practices that. At the free market. So hang calling capper Nick in era that got together and decided not to sign. Another league is denied this Commissioner. Roger Goodell has consistently said, you know, it's up to teams who to sign who not the sign. The league doesn't have influence over that that's been the party line, but cabinets now out of work for two years. Eric Reed took until during the season to sign last year. Even though he's one of the top safeties on the free agent market. Just got a new three year contract earlier this week. So as referenced in the union statement, but cabinet remains unemployed. So yeah, this was an effort by these players and their attorneys in the NFL PA to sort of find out if the league was conspiring to keep these guys out of work. So now, we will not know if this was done if there was collusion against to keep them out of work. I thought this was all about them. On a mission to prove that it did in. I was looking forward to see if this happened. So if this did happen. I was hoping they would go forward with it. I would hoping because with this with this. Now is this going to assure us that this will never happen again? No, it doesn't because of the confidentiality because of the possible the possible financial payment and now Eric Reed. And Colin Kaepernick can't say anything about it or any knowledge that they have the case of anything that happens. So how are we better because of this moving forward? Now, if calling Kabir Nick and Eric read or happy, I'm good. That's good for you guys. But I just thought this was more about that. I thought though was something wrong that was happening based on call and capture Nick and Eric Reed based on their experiences. I thought there was something wrong. And that's something had to be fixed. And so now, I see this. And I think maybe there wasn't if they weren't willing to go to trial and willing to go to the means of exposing. Something that they felt strongly about maybe it was nothing in the first place. That's what I feel now. I mean that that they wanna take a check in sign a confidentiality agreement and move on. I don't know if it felt a faith felt that strongly for it. If this was their decision, I'm all for it. I just thought there was something more to this than what just happened. Then just this conclusion time being Eric Green is a Carolina panther just signed a new contract. Con Kabir Nick is not playing football. Still a lot of unknowns. Here. The wheeling and dealing really takes off an indie with GM's and agents on the same turf. It's spent lots of defensive talented hit free agency including dominating and SU who spent last season with.

"Colin Kaepernick, and Eric reader settled lawsuits against the NFL the pair filed collusion grievances against the league saying they were blacklisted because of protests during the national anthem of games for more on this. We say Hello. Greg bell covers the hawks and the NFL for the news Tribune in Tacoma, Greg. First of all just your overall reaction to this news time, it proves that money can buy just about anything in life. Maybe not well, but everything and the NFL's very adept at this. They are well equipped to have the money to write checks to get rid of their issues concussion settlement. Twenty thousand ex players claiming that the playing in the league may not only harm the rest of their lives ended advise, but they killed them. Right. A mill billion dollar check. This case collusion weeks before a final hearing before an arbiter write them checks to Colin Kaepernick, and Eric read the most important aspect of this is the confidentiality agreement, of course. And that's what the NFL paying for to keep any and every piece of evidence that would potentially be damaging or embarrassing. That's show. The NFL didn't back try to keep those protesting players out of the league last couple of years that's all under arrest. And it stays there by virtue of this agreement, and that's what the NFL Pam foreign. They can do it. They did it. Right. So just in your opinion. Is there any doubt they calling Kabir Nick has not played football since two thousand sixteen because of his kneeling during the national anthem. No, no, absolutely. Not the players around the league in eight thirty nine dollars, Mike and. If you go on and on Paxton Lynch. Another most recently with the Seahawks. It defies logic other than the context of what he did in kneeling and such a sad. All right before I let you go. Let me ask you this. So so might take away from this is in essence, the NFL is admitting if they're going to give away millions of dollars to to make this go away, they're admitting there was some collusion involved. They're not going to say that. How do you think the players around the league will react to that? In other words, well, if they can collude on this issue, what would stop them from trying to collude on future issues, and that's exactly and that's a sticking point here. The cabinet can particular settling in the players a lot of well, wait a minute. Why did you settle? You put yourself out all the time. And now, you're settling. But think of it this way. Capital has raised the issue. No doubt. And the issue of not just of all the oppressed in this country is that minorities say early police brutality. He has succeeded in making that a front page issue. And then the NFL presents them with the chance to make perhaps more than he hasn't is at forty three point five million dollars playing sixties and for San Francisco, and it would not surprise me. The settlement is maybe close to or even more that will we see Colin Kaepernick return to the NFL. I don't think so I don't I think perhaps this is the reason that he is settled at this point out of the league. For two years to sit. There wasn't going to be playing future. And that is earning capability had ended. And that this settlement gives him money and earnings he would not have been able to do any more football. Can we give you some money? So you don't press on anymore. There's certainly that. But I I just think the lingering of calling capper, Nick. Hurts the shield anyway. How much more can they can call and camper, Nick hurt the NFL. If he kept the collusion case going any say he won. I get a win is a win is a win. But perhaps there's even worse things being said amongst NFL owners, I suppose that is a possibility I don't know if we'll ever know. But to me just him being around. I think hurts the NFL. As much as anything can. Let's be honest here about the power of the shield and the power of the NFL was calling Kabir Nick making a dent. Yes. Bye. Is was football ever going to be destroyed on this? No, I don't I don't believe that to be the case. Another taxed, they should give the man who had to close the store twenty million go tar heels. So almost like people in Alabama when they when they say something, they always say roll tide at the end of it, go tar heels. And then Grady says kapernick ruined his own football career, sadly probably making more in endorsements now. That's true. I mean, if you have the right endorsement, I think LeBron makes more in endorsements than he does playing basketball, or at least that was the case before the Lakers. The other piece of Colin Kaepernick news that I wanted to get to is is about the alliance of American football, by the way show of hands. How many of you are going to watch the second week of the af?.

"Come from the use of safety coffins and the Victorian era, we've combined with say. Vary so many living. Well, there you go there Google you run out, but I should invent that you have Chris make me, right? Chris make me, right. Takes awhile. Just to you. What he does to me all the horrible. All right. Well, PSA Mark Garriga's news. He was in the spotlight Corolla family member. The Mark had some choice words for NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell claiming his explanation that teams just don't think calling Kabir Nick can win isn't true gear goes appeared on the today show Thursday and was asked about the comments Goodell made at is state of the NFL address when Goodell said capper Knicks unemployment status is based on football, not politics. Here's Mark had to say about it. Yesterday, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, Mark as you probably know said that this was a team decision that if a NFL team thought that your client, Colin capital, we're good enough. He would have been picked up by now what's your clients response to that? Well, I don't know if it would be my clients response. But I think the Commissioner was roasted appropriately of social media yesterday. Anybody who believes that will believe that Mark Sanchez was a better choice or some of the other? How shall I put it delicately people who were well past their pri- the that were side this year? Ed, you'd have to believe that thirty two individuals came to the same conclusion separately decided that they just weren't gonna win. I one of the things that I don't think the follow up questions. Commissioner never asked was why is it that nobody ever gave him a workout? You know, the one much like we're talking about baby, I'll Dixon with the super salting live or it's not gonna work. The worst position to be in is not. I it's Mark Sanchez in anybody else. Mark saying, Mark Sanchez. Mark interception. Sanchez before. But I've been the worst put down when they're not even trying to let you down. Example, I feel that way about Jimmy Carter. Jimmy Carter everybody goes, I took it Trump. He's of liars Landers or whatever. And then we'll go look at Jimmy Carter. He's a family, man. His greatest kind of the role. He does have it ever. He was worth president. Jimmy carter. Gotta be listening. Guy. He's your worst ever, by the way. No one disagrees with them. They're like, oh true. But it was horrible. And that's got to be the biggest insult ever. Have your name come up all the time? As the example as sorry Sanchez. Maybe Sanchez and Carter get together next rap battle. Yeah. Just sounds so boring. Quarterbacks who fell from grace after one great game. Good. Weird. It's so weird living in Hollywood being so jaded like I woke up this morning. I walked into the Tepe locked into ten Lynette sitting there, sunny, Mark Garriga is on TV. And I'm like, yeah. I'll see you tomorrow. We'll talk tomorrow. Weird. Yeah. So success. Well, page six reporting, some sad news. But Artie laying his team tweeted on Wednesday that he's in a long term treatment program. But according to Fox News made no mention of the fact that he was actually busted for drugs that day page six confirmed on Thursday that the comedian was remanded to jail in Essex County, New Jersey Wednesday night for possession of a controlled substance. He has yet to be released. We're looking at a mugshot right now pretty tough the same day. His team issued a statement that he was seeking help for his drug addiction. And there was another full report on why they're it looks like there's some disfigurement around his nose and they're saying it's from snorting heroin and cocaine according to according to the news. It's. I would much rather my kids be confined to a wheelchair then into drugs like just it is just the worst. I mean, I'm already for a million years already. God we go so far back. I mean, Jimmy we're trying to do a TV show for him once, and blah, blah, so weird that people can get hooked on drugs at advanced stage in life. Like, it's not like, you know cigarettes are like if you don't smoke your first cigarette by sixteen half..

"Okay. I, you know, look, what do you expect him to say right about the state of the NFL one thing I will say in. I don't even want to stay in Roger Goodell's defense. But in football's defense. Is that they have maneuvered their way around concussions and. Protesting during the national anthem for the most part. I think they have gotten over that. There is still a section of the country that swears they will never watch football again because of the kneeling during the national anthem. But I think for the most part we have kind of moved on collectively, I it's happening less and less now, I the owners have kind of stepped in and and shown support from their players, but at the same time, you know, stress that maybe this isn't the best way to go about it. Like, you have our attention. Now, let's move on the the issues that you want us to be attending to. So I think that the NFL has come out of those two things. Fairly well and two things that people swore was gonna destroy the NFL. From a from a fan of viewership standpoint. Anyway, we'll see down the line in ten or fifteen years. If the NFL is pulling from the same size talent pool as they are now or the threat of concussions and C T E if that has gotten a lot of young athletes away from football. But that's something. We'll see fifteen years from viewership standpoint. They have come out of those two things scandals. If you wanna call him that pretty well. Now, the I mentioned. They've gotten kind of out from under to Russians called capper. Nick, get Dell did speak about calling Kabir Nick will save that. Because the most pressing thing on everybody's mind. There was the no call in the in the NFC championship. And Roger Goodell. First before he got into the actual, no call said that there are no plans right now to expand replay potentially too. I would guess include being able to review pass interference calls. Here's Roger Goodell on the expansion of replay or lack thereof. We will look again replay. There have been a variety for proposals over the last frankly fifteen twenty years of should replay expanded it does not cover judgment calls. This was a judgment call the other complication is that it was a no call and. Our coaches and clubs have been very resistant. And there has not been support today about having a replay official or somebody in New York throw flag when there's no flag. And and I am kinda heartened to hear that. The the NFL owners are pushing for let's make everything reviewable because it just. I just don't need it. And again. I'm not a saints fan. But I would say there were some questionable calls that changed the game with the chiefs and the patriots. And I am not sitting here saying we need to review everything. I think judgment calls. It is okay for judgment calls to go the wrong way sometimes without having to correct it because their judgment calls at the end of the day. It's like you. You can look at it and say I saw one way but the referee on the field side another so I'm not a fan of the vast expansion of instant replay. I'm not and I'm glad that the NFL teams aren't now. Here's Roger Goodell on the subject of the NFC championship game. No, call listen. We understand the frustration of the fans I talked to coach Peyton the team the players. We understand the frustration that they feel right now. And we certainly want to address that. So whenever officiating is part of any kind of discussion. Post game. It's never a good outcome for us. We know that are that are officials know that. But we also are officials human. We also know that they're officiating or game moves very quickly and have to make snap decisions under difficult circumstances. And they're not going to get it. Right. Every time..

"Well. I guess what we talking about. Maroon five Travis Scott having to ask calling Kabir Nick for permission apparently before he accepted to to do this. Yeah, they're this. The NFL has like a lot of entertainment. They want you appeal to the broadest amount of people with their halftime acts, but sometimes they get in their own way with with who they invite. I think maroon five just in general wasn't seen as a cutting edge type of entertainment and a few people have turned down that spot from the NFL. It's a little bit parallel to what's going on with the Oscars. I think a recent poll also showed that people expect the Super Bowl to be more politicized this year. I don't know why. Except maybe what we're talking about with capper, Nick. But also, the idea that everything in life seems to be more politicized this year. One more thing Mike switching to baseball. This is the time of year. When fans are watching to see where free agent players are going to end up. For the second straight season. Not a lot of movement. Yeah. I think what we're seeing is that teams teams have they don't have a salary cap. But what they have is a system where teams spend too much they essentially get punished and this is causing some of the previous big spenders true, tone it down. I don't know if it's collusion. Some last year players got together and alleged collusion, but owners are at least deciding that if they don't outbid each other crazily, the market will come down, and they could get some very good players like say many Machado who get paid millions of millions of dollars. But team owners are deciding not to bid against themselves. So there's more of a calmness in the market. This is exactly why the owners designed it as they did. But the players some of the best players who probably in years past with getting paid a lot are getting or at least are being signed right now. Mike, thanks..

"But the the the message that we're not a monolith. You guys stop it. Like, we we as black people. We are not a monolith. What one person chooses to do is not an indictment on them as a black person necessarily? And in this case if big boy wants to go out there and represent his hometown. And be the only person to represent Atlanta on that stage than let the man live and stop coming at him. Like, he some kind of Tom because he chose to do that. Absolutely not let me jump in here. Because I want to get your, you know, to further go down this road. Now Gladys Knight is getting backlash for doing the national anthem. She which is ridiculous. So, you know, I absolutely by the way, I don't total side on a much happier note. You mentioned Gladys Knight. I don't know if you watch the mask singer yet. I didn't think I was gonna like the mass Yannis terrible. Oh, no. It's all good. It's awesome. But there's one singer right now, the the be that a lot of people think is Gladys Knight people. You've lost your mind. Go back and listen to any eighty so music. It's neat. Baker is one hundred percent, Anita meter. I'm throwing it out right now. Go watch your performance at the very end. She hits a couple of those notes. And she's got the scratchy Anita Baker thing. She she there's clues when the when the becomes out like they give like a little like little video background on them. And there are clues in there. But they talk about she talks about performing ever since the fifties. So it is an older soul singer of some sort. It's neat Baker. Gladys knight. We'll revisit Tyree. We definitely have to. To your point kyri like Eric Reid is currently suing the NFL, and he's still playing he is still earning a living and he's still playing and he has been in the thick of it with calling Kabir Nick from the beginning. And he's so you wanna start talking about Gladys Knight. Then you have to talk about every single black athlete the plays in the NFL every coach every executive you have to go after every parking attendant every single person who was an usher in fell stadium. Where does it end where does it end? And also these are opportunities if you really believe that they should be handling the platform better. You don't get a bigger platform. Then Gladys Knight. As you don't get a bigger platform than Travis cotton big boy have right now using this opportunity because they're going to have media week leading up to it. They'll have the opportunity during mediaweek to speak to whatever they want to speak to and they'll be heard by more people even in that process, and they ever would the people that have turned down the Super Bowl. Halftime performances will be forgotten by the time we get to the Super Bowl by much of the. The world the way to keep a conversation going is have enough spotlight to keep a conversation going and the people who are angry about all these have the lowest risk at this. They are risking anything to sit there. They're not risking paychecks nor that receiving their job. I'm just tired of these people sitting around on Twitter. They work at wherever the hell they work at and they have absolutely nothing to say except to to come after people who choose to earn that paycheck. Stop it. These are these people's ability to eat, let them live and stop it. Never. It's never into you have nothing. You are risking absolutely nothing by going after Travis Scott and big. Well, what I would do. Well, you wouldn't do that? Because you're not in that situation. You ain't Gladys Knight. And nobody asks you to sing the national anthem. So take several seats and shut up. I'm sick of it. Next topic. I vote we were gonna wait to get heated. But we didn't elevates talk and music L Jason Smith shut up. Are you going to go after Gladys talking about stop y'all stop it? I didn't even know she she doing the anthem or America the beautiful. She's doing the atom kill it too. That's going to be good. Who's? Doing American beautiful. Do we know stamp? Okay. Well, I another Super Bowl memories. I just humble brag my way through this show Super Bowl, the one in San Francisco where lady Gaga had the piano and did the whole I think it was American. She might have done the national anthem..

"It was nice. And it's so refreshing that they were able to complement each other. Like an indictment of their own tally. Come on. Serves not that fan. Hey, all right. Speaking of villains. Thank you. Jeremy let's move on billons. All right. So this is today. You're villain is all about one thing. Yeah. And my villain is actually all about us. We are all guilty of this. You you everybody. Okay. Nothing. We've made the media. We made a big hoopla about going back to play against furs. And I think the media really hype this up demar rose and clearly sent a message especially with how he played. But why he pretty much was not having any of that. Disappointed by giving history here and everything that you guys accomplished as a team. No it wasn't. Mead Johnson stirred people mind knowing fourth in certain ways, mardi that was. That was. We heard so many people. I mean, they did get they did get blown out. But I think this was a huge game. Not only when you see the rockets and how they won. I mean, this was a big one for them. Even I think entered his mom was caught in the stands getting scrappy. So there was there was a lot of emotions in this return. We all know why bothered, but I'd lame the media. The fires, and you know are included. It's the job. And you know, what it's the same reason why we're talking about Antonio Brown might be sitting at home saying was everybody talking about me. Because when you do something we got cover a need guys. Like Antonio Brown. You do. But the other side of this is really interesting. I love Kawai love the laugh. He's giving us a lot of fun this past year. But I have to say something very known. I won't do it. But I have to say something very interesting about this argument, blaming the media for months, there was that whole scenario going on with his leg what happened there, and he was one of those people that I think are caught up in this thing of he's not speaking. So the narrative got filled in for him. Then happy that. Yes. And, you know, some people at benefits them not to speak think calling Kabir Nick in some ways it's been benefited from not speaking for co why wouldn't know or had he said something because people ran with whatever other narrative war if his team won when he returned true. What do you think is it are we starting people's I? I. I mean, it's not like there's some Kabbal. You know, people say, you know, we're going to stir it up we're gonna it's like this is what we talked about. We're we're on TV all day long. They're on the radio all day long got things back to their team. Whether it was animus or not we oftentimes highlighted. I remember Tom when he went back to with the bulls that wasn't necessarily a difficult departure break up. But it's like, hey, he's back. How's it going to be real right to boo as long as they're not being completely disrespecting fans? You can fool with thick skin. But don't cross that line. There's a lying. Nothing. Nothing nothing personal L FIA. Now. Now that we don't do that. I don't know what you're talking about. Anyway. Your villain is a serious villain fief. Fief an oldie but goodie people's talking about expanding the twenty twenty two World Cup, which is in cutter to forty eight teams tournament is already set to expand to forty eight teams in twenty twenty six in North America. But now Johnny Frontino is talking about expanding it twenty twenty two which is fine. You want more teams in the World Cup. That's fine. But that's not the issue. We're talking again about a country in which the infrastructure is being built by people. You could call indentured servants mostly from South Asia has given very little almost no consideration to the working conditions. You're gonna have forty eight teams. That means there's more infrastructure. More tells more training facilities talking about moving some of the games to other countries in the Gulf where they employ many of the same labor rules. It features. Just like, yeah. More teams more stadiums more games in and there's no consideration for the human toll expanding the tournaments, whether and sustainable don't expand expand the college football playoff. Okay. Oh. Well, I have no idea. Jen. Well, you're making college football my villain of the week is the Sugar Bowl incident. You remember it? I'm sure if be versus right? We all seen the video..

And he does not have sixty seven percent of us wanting him to go against the president. Yeah. I think there might be other priorities for the state of Utah in in Washington DC. I appreciate the call genie. Thank you very much for that. I would think that. Yes. It's not sixty seven percent aren't saying. Hey, go fight 'em. How about disagree when you disagree, but the full frontal assault the day before you take office as a Senator. It's obviously just more cardboard mitt, right? "You didn't get your first four weeks of rush twenty four seven absolutely free. And by the way, if you've not yet downloaded the popular app. Russia's app it's available at the apple store or Google play. We talk just in the last segment about this massive cowardice of Nike that the, you know, believe in something even if it costs you everything and tell a guy. Who's not calling Kabir Nick is taking a stand. He's from Turkey's an NBA player. He's taking a stand against the so-called president of Turkey and Nike won't touch the guy because it would cost them some stores. So I guess their whole positioning statement on that is wrong. In this players. Name is NS Kanter John in port Huron. You are on the EIB network. Taught Herman filling in for Rush Limbaugh. Hi, john. Hi, Todd, man. I'm really glad I got through just at that moment when you were listening, excuse me, everything NS Kanter has given up and sacrificed for criticizing that maniac and Turkey, and it struck me when I was listening to that one of the biggest critics in the sports world entertainment world of President Trump is LeBron James Steph curry and Golden State's not too far behind, but I'm thinking to myself, these guys constantly beat the drum that Trump is Hitler, Trump is style. And. His supporters and voters are Brown shirts. You you've heard it. All obviously, right Todd. You're on the front line, right? You've heard all that. I'm thinking to myself the next time. The Lakers are playing the Knicks or the next time. Golden State is playing maybe one of these idiots ignorant of history idiots might wanna talk and his canter because you've listed just a few things. God knows what's going on with the rest of cancers. Extended family over their dad has lost his career. He's had his citizenship. Revoked in the country. He was born in they tried to arrest him in another country arrest warrant syndrome. He's already been sentenced to forty years in essential that Stalin Hitler. That's Tito, that's ho- Cheyman that's chairman Mao. These guys wanna compare president of the United States. To does maniacs. And this is what's going on in two thousand nineteen to a Turkish citizen. Who only did was criticized the leader. You wanna see what Hitler's like is? When you play the Knicks. Go talk to and his cancer before. After the game. That's hitler. That is a great great point, John. I'm very very glad you called. And you bring something else. John. Thank you very much. You bring something else to mind. I was talking about tax free speech, not in terms of government taxing speech, but Steph curry LeBron James, they're not gonna pay a cost for attacking President Trump. They wanted him to be asked to explain what policies you have a problem with one of the things it's been such a disservice to our country is the it's the erasure of reality. And it happens in many, many, many spheres where you had this this young man in Texas who's taking hormones, and I don't know that the person had surgery, but gets to wrestle girls. And now he's won his second state title. And the reality is he's a boy wrestling girls in there are biological advantages to that there is the size of the lungs the size of the heart. The position of the hips. The length of the limbs allows you greater leverage. It's it's cetera. You can take as much estrogen as you like and suss not gonna go away. But we've erased this reality in terms of the rail. Of words, leftist teach that conservative speeches violence. So if they knock you over the noggin because they don't like your speech, they will say, well, I was using violence. They actually referred to it as a form of self-defence. Right. It's a changing of meaning to the degradation of the ability to communicate so so equally so with the idea of fascism, which actually means something, and it doesn't mean Donald Trump. It's much. Closer to Turkey has John just said speaking of cost free speech is Mitt Romney going to pay a tax on his decision on this well-timed. If you are Mitt Romney editorial genie in Davis county, Utah. Welcome to the Rush Limbaugh program has taught him filling in hygiene. Hi, I am responding said something most of what he says makes me angry anymore. But he said that sixty seven percent of Utah wants him to fight Donald Trump. And I had a little experience. I went to the neighborhood caucuses and at the state caucuses, Utah state. You have the state caucuses. And if you don't get enough votes at the state caucus, then it goes to a primary, and that's what happened, but at the state caucuses in Utah Mitt Romney lost the p the delegates who got to talk face to face with Mitt Romney and Mike Kennedy voted for Mike Kennedy. And he does not have sixty seven percent of us wanting him to go against president. Yeah. I I think there might be other priorities for the state of Utah in in Washington, DC, appreciate the call genie. Thank you very much for that. I would think that it's not sixty seven percent aren't saying. Hey, go fight 'em. How about disagree when you disagree? But the full. Full frontal assault the day before you take office as a Senator. It's obviously just more cardboard mitt, right? Just a big stack of polls when it comes to being a politician taught Herman in for Rush Limbaugh on the IB network. You're listening to the network.
