"That is that is so prevalent that we think it's normal. We think it's healthy I. My son had a T. shirt wants that said normal people scare me right and I don't consider myself to be the current normal and thank you very much so challenging. Those belief systems is really important. And to see that you know if it doesn't feel good right to challenge it and be hard on your belief systems and can you touch on. I know you've shared this example with us but about The mother the daughter and the grandmother with the rain. Yes Yeah I've borrowed it many to always a really good one. Yeah again. I have to thank the guides and the teachers that I have for that one too. There was a story about a mother and a daughter and a grandmother and they're preparing dinner and they're making a ham and so the grandma's sitting at the table and the mother and the daughter are working on the the Ham and the mother says okay chop off and end of each of the ham end off each ham and put it in the pot and the daughter says to the mother and this is the the younger generation typically starting to question and the daughter says to the mother she says. Why do we cut off the ends of the HAM and the mother says well? I have no idea. I don't know let's ask grandma so we say grandma. Why did we off the ends of the HAM and grandma says well because my pot was too small right and we do this and we don't challenge the believe this same rains exactly and we continue without challenging this stuff. Not Recognizing it doesn't serve us. It may no longer be necessary. It may not be appropriate for this this particular choice or experience because it worked for them. They're circumstance complete. I'm sure that it worked for them. Either I mean they had worked for grandma. But that's never gonNa Right. Yes absolutely so as we as we wrap up. I have to say that since we started talking about since we started our work with you and since we started our work with each other not judging each other for the decisions that we make not having opinions or expectations has freed us up in unexplainable ways and unbelievable ways. "I just needed done but then you would say that. I don't want to explain correct. That's a better house was just over us. Oh I know under no circumstances. That's a common challenge something or even give it only to help. I want to ask. I just wanted to devise a question. Viewed as a challenge and not gaining understanding in perspective. It's all depends on how the question was presented. I believe to a degree as a teenager teenager. I would have posed a challenge in the way of snotty question but for over analyze so many things. Clench a child how to ask a question. It's not going to be snotty nosed and if you answer a child's question they will be satisfied in my opinion right. Do you find from your experience. Like with the kids answering their questions do they. Stop asking absolutely one hundred percent. No LONGER MOM. Mom Dad you take a moment you get down on their level you tell them what is expected of them. What we're going to do Doesn't mean they always do it The way you'd hoped or whatever but it seems to stop the Y. Y Y and it definitely seems to have stopped the whining on the topic of raising. Good kids yes in this day and age. Let me just preface. That good is subjective. Those different from good to somebody else. There's also a terminally in different ways to Peel an apple. Cut Up an apple so How someone does that There are a million different ways to do that. So so you believe that discipline consequence all of those actually have to do with the human with the kid so give different consequential for the individual based on their their needs absolutely. Yep Yeah I think I think The way you raise each child the heartbeat heartbeat. The core might be the same but the subtle differences are water tailored to that individual child now in the way that you grew up in your upbringing. Yeah I'm always fascinated as to why and how you're so good at this. You're add wet at raising humans. Your gentle irrational. You're extremely caring loving compassionate and you're passionate about the craft of being among. Why are you so good at that so good? I appreciate you saying all those things I don't. I don't know that I would necessarily feel that way. I mean all I can do is my very best. I'll say that till the end end of my days But for parenting for me I think when I think about this is okay. We're talking about how we just keep going serious serious serious and I don't know if we ever will go like light We'll get to the fun. I'm don't know but but what I was going to say when I think about parenting our kids I actually imagined myself as my own fourth child and I know that it's going to sound really really strange but I think I think about what I needed when I was a child right and when I think about that I think about the patients. The understanding The level of the things I didn't get and I almost see my inner child as child number four trailing along and I get to repair it myself I get to relive experiences. Might enter child gets to do all these wonderful things that we've Curated carved out and created for our children. I've never decorated gingerbread house in my life until this winter till this Christmas I have others million. There's a million things that I have never done and I'm doing for the first time in. My inner child is very pleased. Do you have goals for your kids? Happy just happy. That's it because I'm I am putting a lot more weight and emphasis unhappiness than I ever have especially with. Yes a world where people talk about mental health and all is very extreme issues. Yes my goal prior to having kids or even when meal o. Was born until I really dove down deep into how you approach things because I'm so impressed by and inspired by it right. My number one goal was ambition. You just want me. I remember that useful and I want them to be ambitious but you said that she was actually out of out of fear for laziness of course so but I think I think if we see someone as lazy sometimes that can be a judgment If somebody is living in a shack and they have a dog and they have two plates and their whole most homeless to some but to others would just be like a total hermit recluse flower child. Whatever it's like Y is that person considered lazy. They are happier than the hills. Yep whose businesses. That is your right if you're happy you're happy if you're not happy in that situation and the environment than something needs to change but if you're happy leave him alone. They found the secret to life happiness. Yeah my opinion. I don't know that's cease again. That's so profound and I think that's year opinion has changed. It has happiness now. Is the number one priority. Because I've seen so many families that have every material thing yeah jobs holidays vehicles wealth beyond belief. And if there's no happiness or heart yeah not home yet. I think we all put as a matter. Not We all but I think as a society. We can put unrealistic expectations. Yeah and really it comes down to. What do you want? What do you want when Brett Wilson and I did our Trip to Mexico building homes. Yes the happiness and contentment that The family one of the families. Like my my family's Breakfast Brett. As you know the homebuilding our family they lived in a Crown. Victoria car No TIRES YEAH. Just flat underground. Swear the DAD and the three kids they might lift and yet they were happy because they had enough to buy some food and it was better than how the parents grew up so they were happy that their kids when we built them. The House hadn't apparently simply whatever's more poor than living in a in a rundown crowned nineteen So that also changed things for me back in two thousand seventeen that if someone can be happy with what society says is nothing yet or below every bit of standard then that if they can be happy then we should focus a lot more of our time to actually be grateful and actually be happy with what we both what we have because we live very abundant life. Gratitude changes everything. Yeah so back to Aria calling your bluff. I'm sure people are wondering how she done that again. She had a shield your own often than me La. She had it going. I think a for a good couple weeks where I was just like I would say my my consequence and she would say here and I would freeze yup give it to me lay on me thick. Go ahead Mama. There was no resistance So definitely threw me for a loop But you know ultimately. It's like that I would put her in timeout and sometimes she would get emotional because it was just like literally calling my bluff. She's just so stinking smart that little girl but as of late consequences are back on the table As being not fun so things are things are back in order but it definitely through. Meal is a very Obedient child she. S and Aria is a tear all great kids. They're incredibly great kids but as their personalities Start to shine you start to see their different quirks and different ideas and Yeah it just made me think like maybe Arya will be one of those people who doesn't take things personally in his just like. Yeah sure Go from strength to how actually grow up so that if bullying comes her way or what have you in school. Heaven forbid just let it roll off and it's funny because People knowing our kids people who know them would probably think because meals like loud and out there and social and outgoing that she would be the one that's more bucky She's the one so for example. She's the one who would say. Can I have this cookie? Oh Mom can I have this cookie but can I have this cookie? Arias the one you turn around. And she's got her hand in the cookie jar and she's already three cookies deep the like she knows she's crowded sneaky and she's quiet and And then new catcher and she would giggle and think it's hysterical that like she got away with it. I although I mean as we wrap up this segment up I we call our kids loophole children especially me Lula. She's loophole baby. She just figured. I'm the loophole baby. Yeah we'll because you'll lay your boundary and she'll fig like she's the kid who you're like no you cannot have that green eminem. Because that's what's in her hand and she'd come back and she got one in her mouth. What did I say will? It's mom like she's that kid she's just well you're not wrong. Yeah like at that. Point d you celebrate their that intelligent more. Do you explain that. That's not what you meant. Yeah I don't know I don't know the answer to that. Help us out here. A part of me is like I appreciate the I do too. I do too so it's like I want. I joke often that I don't want to This is gonNA sound so silly but even if the kids are like playing with their food at the dinner table and some people. Don't play with your food. I go back and forth on the like what if it inspires are to be some kind of like incredible inventor and now I just crushed that never know anyways you wanted like there's a fine line between supporting and Raising them up to be the best that they can be at while not crushing their spirit and still laying boundaries. Yeah and now there's the cartoon version on it's really sweet in the arrows love it. What is your favorite part of the grinch? All of it my favorite is you're an idiot or no say yeah. You're an idiot. I'm an idiot. You're an idiot. The yes that's how he goes. He's so mad he's like he's mad the echo and then he said you're an idiot. I'm an idiot. You're an idiot okay. Follow me on Instagram Brett Kissel and follow us at keeping it Kissel. Ooh Now onto the fun. We are getting part two of our podcast talking about our album now or never we discussed it means our like. I had something to do with it. Well that was the thing you really had such a giant park in really funny about like So Cecilia on your previous album. a lot of people say like that. Song was about you and I'm like they were all about me. Actually Oh yeah everything so I think I just don't forget it all started with a song. He's writing about if there's anything that has to do with love or love interest. Yeah in a song. It's it's you and some of the memories that we've I would hope so we'd have a much longer conversation if they were not about me. Funny how people think like who do you about guys. Yeah let me know. Well THE REAL STORY BEHIND. Cecelia's that every day of your life people would sing the Simon and Garfunkel Song. True so it was important for me to write you a Cecilia. Yeah interestingly enough. Is that if you watch on. Youtube are very first announcement video when we announced that we were having meal up or we are pregnant for the first time. Yes I had written a song. Early our relationship Celia yes That song is like twelve years old. Yeah so then rewrote or wrote another version of Cecilia with Brad rental from my valley. Yeah and that was the song was out on. The radio is so sweet we love them over and High Valley too. Yeah both guys and yeah especially their their better halves and lives mazing family so we talked about the first four songs on the record and a lot of behind the scenes information. We want to get back into that. We talked about drink about me. A few good stories. That's country music and young enough. We told everybody why we named the album. Now or never why you named the ever which is suggested which you but now it's she drives me crazy. What did you think the first time you heard that song honestly? I thought that Song's going to change our lives why I thought that too. Yeah that the verdict is out yet to be. Yeah well it certainly crazy. Because it's so pop dance idiom leaning yes For the country space but it feels good can be on a track with Dan. Shea like the Prince of Pop. I love that there are like no rules. I agree anywhere today. Like we're like Boston boxes and breaking the mold and doing whatever the hell we want and it feels good things have to be a certain way that leads gonNA drive me crazy. Why because I I don't know because I'm used to thinking kid mode and I'm like some was in Cobb and knocked that over and there's water everywhere or do that shit all the time it's true. She drives me crazy. I wrote that with Emily and Karen Kozlowski. Yeah so that day I told the girls I said I want to write an UPTEMPO pop song pop country song and then Emma Lee started going. Hey and I'm like that's so hooky so and so. I started going with Karen that we all started doing. It was cray and then like she drives me create. Are there just like that. That quick DABID THINK. The songwriting process is very fascinating. Very unique experienced very fascinating. I loved writing with both Both these incredible ladies because they bring so much to the table as far as creativity is concerned and then writing a song about a girl yet with a girl is very very good so that we say the right thing right. You can literally ask. Yeah this make you feel good. Yes and if I said this totally over this. Make you feel real SCUZZY Z. Sometimes when guys are writing songs and just because the language might make sense to them. It doesn't always translate to women the same way and so then you might lose that part of your female audience unintentionally of course but to have a female's perspective is always a good one once everybody is in the studio and I haven't really had a chance to tell you see how sometimes how it goes. But Karen is an incredible producers programming. And she's working on the track. Emily is working on kind of the form of the song. And refining it. Set The syllables match up and everything. So while they're doing that and we really have a roadmap. I went crazy on the second verse. crazy she Now what the hell of the words but I remember is. Let me tell you this. She's more than messing with my soul. Got that Maryland but lose control and No we don't have lurks in. Oh sorry we went on our last episode. I might one of this but I was so happy to throw in the line. She got that Marilyn Monroe because it's like she was such a big star. Yeah a larger than life. She's like SONA person and I see ads so I'm really nervous though about what for. She drives me excuse me for. She drives me crazy. Why 'cause it's so different from anything I've ever done? Yeah but different is good. It's good to step outside of your comfort zone and to step outside of the box. Yeah it's living in. Fear is not a good place to be right. Yep well that's a good quote right there. I've ever heard it. You're so wise. What is the Lynette? Same wisdom is knowledge applied. That's right yeah another great quote. She drives me. Crazy is a song. I'm also looking forward to the most. I think collectively anybody who's been part of this project because it really stretches the boundaries of country music is a giant risk. I mean country music. There's a Banjo in there okay. There's a Banjo in there. You know what it's great music and I'm an advocate for great music. And why why should you not be allowed to create or make something because it's not under that umbrella? There was made that rule. You Remember I. I went for dinner with my friends. Johnny and Jen in Calgary few nights ago who are on the run the Camp Swan Hills. That's right so living the dream productions. They are good friends with Zac Brown. So I know that this is a very namedrop. Your it's not intended to. He was talking about his current Album that he released and CAL keeps US doesn't like to be labeled with his Lonrho. Yeah he said. I'm ZAC Brown the Brown band. Just if people didn't have to pick and gender why do you have to pick genre right? Absolute Mir would do whatever you want salt. Do it feels good. And that's also why the records called now or never. Because I didn't have the confidence to do this on previous Rajic's or to stand up to sometimes the powers that be even though ever been everyone has been so supportive in what I do. Yeah but you still. Some challenges are a Steeply ingrained you are a people pleaser. My love and I think this is one of the first projects where you were like pleasing little old you and I think people are GonNa be pleasantly surprised and I think maybe you might be surprised by That you might be surprised by the excitement and How you're received accepted. It's exciting well as we kind of. Wrap up the. She drives me crazy conversation. I'm going to really things. Everyone knows that there is ya something we can't we can't tell you yet but. I wrote the bridge in the Song. That girl takes up all madam spend every dollar. I spend every dime. She stole my heart and took over my. It's local game over. She drowsy crazy that to me sounded very hip hop so as a hip hop star that. I had in mind to be a part of that song and we hope it all comes together together. It's all we can say but we all so are they hoping right. You mentioned this on a previous one that there'll be a Spanish edition Spanish remix four. I just ending. Why not I mean the more The more versions the better and the more fans that we could make another totally or Tories for sure. She drives me crazy. Destroys the box of what the capabilities of country music really are. Yeah because I think we truly elevated. I'm really excited about and we're excited to connect with music lovers. Yeah Yeah we talked a lot about our club days. Yeah that to me I would love nothing more than for that Song Be Played Tag guys downtown Toronto. Yeah we'll live in Vancouver yet I don't know all over the world all over the world please play. She drives me crazy. We're so excited about that song. Okay so rate after we wrote. She drives me crazy yet. That exact same damn day. We wrote Hummingbird right. Yes I remember you saying and emily. That's right which almost counter acts and balances and swings the pendulum from Super Pop. All the way back to bluegrass folk music country. It is very interesting. Yeah I think you guys just Needed to release some of your contrasting energy and get it out of your body now. There's an Gibson Guitar that Karen had in the studio that I played and I told her. I said we need to write a country song on this yep and so I started sharing some memories about catching hummingbird a little bit. Yeah I wanNA find the footage of what we're GONNA talk to Andy Tracy in Oakland Eric. Yeah if they can find because he had a. He had a video camera. One of you put on the shoulders. Massive suckers ninety nine. Yeah but you put the old vhs. Ed is that I think so. Did I play Hummingbird for you that day or did I? Yes you would have and what what did you think of it from First Time? And then now that you've heard the record version the real version and all the parts that tyler played on it and I remember thinking that it was really pretty And then it just obviously instantly makes me think of your grandparents and that that like I know. You've talked about getting a hummingbird tattoo. So maybe this is like a Tie you over until that happens to honor them in a way in the liner notes the hummingbird that we selected To be in here I think is like the perfect timing bird..

"He he's been going a little Twitter crazy, which I know is a surprise to absolutely no one. And then on FOX and friends. First, we talked about Obama, will he help or hurt the Dem's. I believe that he will end up helping specifically some Dem's that are, you know, like like Casey out of Pennsylvania, he's definitely going to help. You know, there are other. There are other Dem's that are much more aligned with him politically. But then you have someone like John tester out of Montana or Heidi Heitkamp of North Dakota places where Donald Trump did very well Obama's, probably not going to go out and campaign for them, and that's probably in their best interest. But then of course, you look at Gillam in Florida, going against a Santa's for governor. And I think that Obama will do great things for him in Florida. Despite the fact that he was a little bit, it was controversial. His opening up the engagement with Cuba, of course, a lot of the Cubans over there. We're not thrilled with his policy towards Cuba, but now in in the wake of everything happening with Donald Trump and his immigration policies, I think the tide might be turning and I'm sure that they will be more available emotionally available for Barack Obama. So it's interesting to see him out. Now on the campaign trail, haven't seen him for a very long time. A lot of people said too long, but I think it was good for him to take a little time off quite frankly, you don't know what you got. It's gone as they. Say, and at the very least it's nice to hear somebody who speaks in a professional way and a compassionate way and in a way that unites now, did he unite? Well, that's up for debate. His presidency was it had a lot of flaws to it, and there were certainly a lot of turmoil look at Ferguson and a series of other riots that were happening all across the country when it came to protest. Please for tally there was a lot of turmoil under Obama as well. And did he handle those situations as well as he could have? These situations are very difficult to handle and we can all be Monday morning quarterback on it. But I do believe at the very least he put thought into things. And I know there's a lot of folks out there who feel like a thoughtfulness is currently missing from the White House. So check out those clips on Ben Kissel dot com. You just go under television news and you can see all of my clips or not all of them, but about thirty of them are thirty seven of them right there or on YouTube, put a little comments and on this FOX and friends. First one. It was funny because we were talking about Jim Carey, Jim Carrey was on Bill Maher show, which I don't even know why I sit through these things, but I do it and he was talking about because he was on the show because he's got a new show on HBO coming who's trying to press Jim Carey, of course, trying to be a populous man of the people on Bill Maher. You got to watch the interview. If you haven't seen it and look at his Twitter, he's like, we have to unite Republicans and Democrats, and I'm like, look at your Twitter, your entire thing is against Republicans, so he's not trying to unite. And should he be or should you not be? Is that is that his job? No, it's not. He's he's a comedian, but I was mentioning. He mentioned how socialism, how the Democrats need to embrace the term socialism. So of course, Fox News,.

"Mike Baker, first of all, well, it's it's to number one really quick, yes or no. Do you think Obama's going to help the Democrats in the November midterms when he campaigns for them as he campaigns for them? I don't think you can necessarily hurt him. I don't think they're gonna get a big bump out of it, but you know, again, it's sort of that concept. You mentioned earlier, you know, people get convinced of their own beliefs. Some, you know, he'll he'll he'll ill, impress the folks that are going to vote the way they're gonna vote, but I, I don't think he's going to damage the Dem's. I think it. I just don't think it'll be a big thump. All right. And lastly, when it comes to Muller and this is a big story of obviously, but people have heard about this ad nauseam, what do you think about the Muller investigation? Do you think it wraps up relatively soon within this next couple of months? Do you think Trump testifies. What are your, you know we have. We have Manafort. We got gates popadopoulos. We're gonna all of these co- and lot of guilty pleas out there and and guilty verdicts. What are your thoughts just briefly on that. Yeah, you know, I look, I think Muller's the smart and you know a good person. I think the investigation suffers from what all special education suffer from Washington DC. It's a place where investigations go to die. Right? But he's, I think he's gonna wrap it up relatively soon. Relatively soon as probably be for the, I don't think it's going to be before the end of the before the midterms. But I think before the end of the year and I it, nobody's gonna be happy. I think the end result will be it won't make the resistance of the Democrats happy because there won't be sort of that smoking gun that they've been beating the drum for for me going on what, how many years and it won't make. They won't make the Republicans or the Trump supporters happy because there won't be any sort of drawn a line under it. And there's absolutely nothing here. It's just going to be one of those mushy statements that you always get out of Washington from these these things that you know doesn't really satisfy either side. So I think it's gonna be a wholly unsatisfying experience for everybody. Right. Well, something to look forward to them. Thank you so much, man. I really, really appreciate you being here. Let's see. Do you wanna plug anything? You got speaking engagements or your website or tell the people out of fine. You? Well, you know, well, there's always diligence for all your information security and then that's about it. I I'm kind of on Twitter at at m b companyman, but I try to keep that sort of down the middle of the road and I'm very much centrist and what I found out that all that means is you piss off everybody. Yep, that's why Twitter is basically useless of all they do so much man. I really appreciated heavy. Great speech tonight. Thanks so much. I appreciate your take care. All right. There was an interview with Mike Baker. Interesting guy always love talking to them. So I hope you liked the episode and yeah, we disagree on some things and agree on other things, but I do think it's interesting to focus a little bit more a Ron, not no one is talking. About the war continues on in Syria. No-one seems to discuss it in mainstream media. So it's nice to have a little conversation about what's going on overseas. If you get a chance, go to my website, Ben Kissel dot com or my YouTube channel. It's just a Ben Kissel and you can watch my most recent television hits. I did FOX and friends first and Cavuto. That was on Monday, and we talked a lot about Donald Trump has war with apple and his tweet storms regarding the investigation and a series of other things..

"Oh, that's funny because he's, you know, he's, he's a, you know, fit guy, whatever tight tight teacher, especially a golf shirt like arm or something like that, and you can. You can see the stud like, so is that like yet is a bellybutton ring either way? I don't know. Okay. Last couple of questions. First of all, you have to promise me that you're going to go on Twitter and respond to some of your fans. I'm sure you do anyways, but to all these questions because I'm like, we ran out of time and I. Can't ask you all of their questions, but people really had great questions for you. We talked a lot about the things anyways, and sometimes I get around to asking questions sometimes I don't. What good conversation they had a great like enjoyed this. Well, it's been. It's been a great time wine laughs who more confessions, confessions next level. Next next level, I can't wait. I can't wait for my vinyls. Because they will live for it. And but yeah, go on Twitter in answer because a lot of people had great questions for you. But my last question was. What is a song that you've written that has like impacted you the most? That really like just speaks to you. It's my track three to one and the reason why it's it's been the probably the most important is because it was never meant to make it to the radio. It was just a song for Sacira and I. And it was just kind of like our story and I just thought it was gonna be our song. That's it. Yeah, never never meant to be a radio or song for the label or anybody, and we did the track and people are recorded it just like my voice notes and I played it for Cecilia. She's like, this is great. I played it from managers like this is great played for these people. It's great, and it turned out to be my first gold record, and it was never meant. I swear to you. It was more men to be like, hey, babe. I wrote a song frus and it's gonna be our little song and just are thing, and then it blew up, became our Sol. That's well. No, I have to listen to it. I, I mean, I did my serious research, but I didn't listen to three to one. So I'm going to, I hope you join maybe have I heard it on the radio, maybe probably. Probably give me a little ditty. It's three to canton Downey hours to drive in round town park by the water tower. Then it's one, two, three, no, you gotta get some sleep. So we say good nut in a mess until see again, I sang fast, but it's a mid tempo. First of all, damn, that was really good. It's very sweet, but I'm like man of anyone. Just put me on the spot like that. Like I'm like, not good under pressure. That was really good sharing that I'm going to end this with a joke. Are you ready? Yes. What does a farmer talk about when he's milking cows? What utter nonsense? I like it. Yeah, it's it's a farm joke. I'm like l. Berta you know, to call a cow with the legs ground beef? Yes. Do you have any more jokes? Why was the ant so confused? Because all of his rants. That's good. That's dad joke. And I also live for dad jokes, or I always try and end the podcast with joke, and usually my guest doesn't have any for me. So thank you for delivering my pleasure. Where can people find you your music you on and scrim everything? Tell tell the people everything. So Instagram at Brett Kissel. Twitter, Brett, Kissel Facebook, Brett Kissel music. The website is Brett Kissel dot com. And then obviously Spotify or apple, you can find all of my music. And if you don't mind, I was nominated a couple days ago. You were the CCA fans choice award. We really, yes. I was. People can vote going to see a fan, vote dot com. Put battle when I when this comes out on Tuesday, I will put it on my page and people can swipe up and they'll be awesome..
