Go if you find yourself in urgent need of puzzling war haircut this one waiting view at car talk dot com but in the meantime. What's next well in the meantime. I thought i'd share some sage advice with you. This is from Bruce peterson from somewhere. This is good. I mean we all need something in our lives to give us show us the way. Yes here in facade. Is that what it is. Yeah never criticize a man until you have walked a mile in his shoes that way. When you criticize him you'll be a mile away and you'll have a good. I like it. See i mean you don't realize the deeper meaning. I mean you've heard that expression you'll have to walk a mile issue. I must understood. Never understood it either until just until just now amazing amazing. You're going to be a mile away. He's not going to be able to punch you in the nose like he would want to chase after you because shoes all right. Well speaking of sage advice if you want something remotely resembling that you can call someone else but if you want to call us. The number is one eight eight eight car talk. That's eight eight eight two two seven eight two five five. Hello you're on car talk gentlemen. This is john from lancaster pennsylvania. Doing i'm doing pretty good. I'll be doing better if you could help me with my problem. All right. i can't take the car to the dealer for this problem because Shall we say it would be indiscreet as me because the car is still in warranty and this may have some You may have voided. The warranty by doing something. Stupid are illegal or otherwise questionable. I'll tell you what my problem is. I've got a corvette. And i get a high speed. Miss and in order to see the high-speed mess with the demonstrate high speed mess. You have to drive at high speed. Now it's at such speed. That i can't quite take it back to the dealer for this because they would they would warranty. They would know that you've been over one hundred and twenty miles an hour. That's probably true. And basically what i get it about one hundred forty one hundred forty five. I get a dead hard mitch brain but i get a dead hartman hundred forty. What does that temperature miles. An hour mild snow. We're pretell do you drive in one hundred and forty. Mp absolutely only on a racetrack okay. Well that's legit. Then i've gotta stay correct here to jail. You don't want to go to jail because we are tracing this call as we speak right is your race track. Have numbers on a like i seventy three be. It could be also but we won't. We won't tell will we'll assume for the for the sake of argument that you're on a legitimate race track your yeah you're free to goal was fast as you want and you can certainly explain that to them. What would explain to me that. If i'm on a race track the my warranty is null and void. Yes so you'd have to tell them that you were doing this. Well why don't you tell him. You're doing it on a on a public road. They would say to my licenses norling. Yeah but they have jurisdiction. I got it. I got it. Tell them that had happened by accident. You're coming down. Mount saint helens. And you and you just sort of gazing out the window and didn't realize that you were picking up more and more speed and all of a sudden they were doing one hundred and fifty miles very simple florida to pass the bus in front of you. The sightseeing bus. No you can tell them that happens in second gear. Well i could. I can but it won't you see you can run out through the first four years and have no problem is only when you're in a hard pool in fifth gear that the problem demonstrates itself. I know it's not a plug wire wired. I know it's not a plug. And i knew it's not fuel pressure delivering so i don't know what else to do. How do you know these things. While we've had checked check replaced Well check. I would certainly suspect the plug i mean. I don't know how you would check a spark plug to know you'd have to use an the similar scope retracted on dead son. Engine analyzer. Well well that's what they stuck it on. he did. But i mean but if you can't get the miss then the thing is going to show up then it's going to show up as okay so you haven't tested anything you've just tested that the plug is not breaking down when you know it's not breaking down because you don't have the miss the problem is you. Try to put the mechanic in the car. Was he says. Oh no. that's for sure. Well i mean it would be. I mean if i suspected spark plugs. That's the kind of thing. At least i i would just replace them all. Do i would do that. And i would replace spark plug wires and i would replace coils. I would certainly do one at a time. Because after the plugs they start running into money. Yeah but i would certainly me throw set of plugs in it because you probably have twenty thousand. Miles listing already so i figured about six thousand one hundred and forty miles an hour. That's do program centigrade right now. One last question. If i might. Is there any possibility that contaminants and fuel could cause this. I'm likely unlikely. I mean you. You seem to know enough to be able to to attribute this to to electric miss. This is a high speed ardennes scares hell out of him. Yeah if it's a hard mistake that it's almost a certainty to be electric but it could be. It could be something even in the computer. That's causing the problem. Yeah you know that that somehow that somehow changing the spark characteristics but you need someone with a chassis dynamo monitor you can put this thing on the air. Get it up to one. Forty one fifty over. It's ready to blow off then you can see what's happening to the spark plugs and to everybody else. That's fine the chassis. Dyno lacking that. I would go through first of all spark plugs can spark plug wires. Third coil. You got it good luck. Thanks john massachusetts. With you see later. I one eight eight car talk or one eight eight eight two two seven eight two five five alone. You're on car talk..

"The spirit fit through the ring and then heated up the ring and then disappear didn't fit through the ring anymore because when when a solid expansion expanding all direction correct so if you had a brake drum for example that was stuck on the hub right by heating it up. You would make the whole drums smaller. It would make sense and you would make the axle flange bigger therefore sway. Djing them together right. He wouldn't make it more difficult to get them apart. Well that's the way it seems. But maybe i just haven't physics to really messed me up. Well i don't know. I don't remember this experiment. Vividly eighth grade. I think in any case the reason it does it does work. And for example we heat up rusted bolts all the time. That won't come out our rusted nuts. You put the wrench on the. The thing won't budge heated up with the torch and it walks right off but that's different or all or you heat up a brake drum won't come off. Yeah we know that and the question is why does it work. Yeah the physics. The laws of physics are not changed. Once you open once you work on cars. They're the same What's happening is that you are breaking the rust bonds. You are expanding that those medals enough to actually break the bonds that those things together because the reason that these things don't wanna come off is not because the whole is too small because it went on there already so the whole is the right size so when your heating up you're not heating up so much to expand it as you are to get rid of all the junk that's keeping it from coming out and boy we know it works. It may not work however with a mickey mouse. Little propane torch that you have because you gotta really get some serious heat. A brake drum is a big heavy thing. You need some real unique nuclear power so your your next acquisition has to be an oxyacetylene. You need it really. If you're going to pursue this as a hobby. I mean i absolutely. There is no budding shade tree mechanic worth his salt. Who doesn't have oxyacetylene in his basement. Right in fact if you don't have one but the next time you call we're going to refuse to talk to you one of those costs who cares what it costs but think of what you can do with an oxyacetylene torch. You can make jewelry in your basement. It's endless the things you can oxyacetylene toys kryptonite. The reason i do home. Projects is not. Because i care the least about how my house looks how long it's gonna last. I only do them. So i can buy the equipment and trolls necessary to do so. I can have them. Because i like tools and equipment. Yeah you'd strange thing that happens. It is strange it is. It is strange. Why is it that men are so into all this stuff. I just have to figure out. A reason. For buying a bridgeport milling. So i i don't know i don't know anything that needs to buy a door sticking up. You could make the hinges. You're gonna have to use cad cam for doing all right so be at the challenge though is not making the ping the challenge convincing your way. They have to have it. You have a significant other to convince load up before you get married me. Nice talk delia. The question should be sharpening your number two pencils and dusted off the old piece shooter. You're listening to us. Click and clack known in detention halls. Everywhere islamov artsy. We'll have more of your calls touch that. Dial because if you do the end of your slide rule may fall off and when you slide rules anymore. Yeah they use them to hold the door. We'll.

"Like the queen. Mary twenty two v. just the boat trailer to the trails. Fishing gear is gonna need the raw the tackle box and all that stuff right. Yeah but don't forget. The whole five thousand pounds is not sitting on that rear axle right because you got wheels on the on the trailer. So it's the tongue weight. Definitely take back what i said. It probably is okay to carry this on one fifty or does he have to just like it is okay if half the it is being carried by the trailer carrying twenty five hundred pounds at most on the tongue. Carry nothing on. The tongue could be zero. It could be if it were balanced. So i mean it's a pickup truck. It's supposed to carry something. Wait is it a one ton. Pickup truck clue in quarter ton to half ton pickups probably to have pickup truck and it probably two. It's it's what you didn't you didn't say this is a real demands. He's just getting a little testosterone poisoning. He no. I don't think this has the the the the muscle to do this job. What do you mean. She didn't even tell you what it's for an engine a three fifty one windsor dealership. Oh you're the perfect one to find. You know the truth. You must have the answer. Must have you calling us. Because he doesn't listen to me when it comes to okay. So you want us to his investing. Did you investigate this little. What's the towing capacity of this thing. I'll come on. You can remember all right. I understand the problem here. Okay he won't listen to you so you just need to have some authoritative voice. Say that it's no problem whatsoever. And his old will now repeat our answer but we won't waffle in the slightest and then we will fix the tape. So all of the stuff in the middle disappears. And it'll sound like your question and we will just jump right in with the following answer. Cathy I've checked the specs on this. And there's absolutely no problem handling five thousand pounds on this f. One fifty what you said at eighty four. I think that the max on that as fifty one hundred and three pounds. So i think you're all set on that kathy. Okay we'll send you tape for fifty bucks obviously to be serious for just a minute. It's possible that this thing doesn't have the the cooling system to handle this It may not. it doesn't have heavy duty enough. Breaks to handle this. Don't forget you have to not only move it but you have to stop it and you may be. I don't know where you're gonna go with this thing. Castro valley is not on the ocean. We take two lakes wakes so you move this thing. It's it's this is tantamount having a house evolve around basically yeah huge twenty-six-foot twenty six vote to see an automobile mechanic. Had you know. Is he a truck mechanic. Oh good you know this mr out in the backyard for four years. I said how come it you know when you worked here at four draw those years you could rebuild anything in a week and four years. It says in the backyard and you can't can't make it because first of all it's a hobby. It's a pastime. it's a passion it's something. He does for enjoyment and relaxation and stress reduction. And i think by deny. I think by denying him the opportunity to put the dooley's on i think you're you're you're taking away from him something that he desperately needs aren't listening to you and i think it's nice that he wants the same logic. I use what. I asked my wife if i could buy a table. Saw a joiner a milling machine. See i would look at it this way. The guy works as a mechanic all day and still is willing to come home at night. And he's a soul happy with what he does that he continues to do it. Even in his off hours took for years but nonetheless. I would be thankful that what he does during the day is not root canals because he might come home and want to practice on you just for the heck of it because he's so happy. Hey kathy i'm on a root canal right on the drink this fetal barbara tall i i have to side with your husband. I'm afraid well. I think this may sign sound awfully Sexist i think guys need hobbies. He's got enough hobby. He's got enough cars. He does We had thirteen now. We're down to just six but cathy. I think you curse i. It doesn't make any difference what he does to this. If you deny him this the next day he will have three more vehicles in the yard. That's probably true. And all that. Yeah i would let him work on this one. Don't do whatever he wants. Okay right you've done for you know that. Give up thanks. We'll see okay by one. Eight eight eight car talk or one. Eight eight eight two two seven eight two five five. Oh you're on car talk. This is andy. In twin falls. Idaho andy twin falls idaho. Yeah what's up in twin falls. I'm a budding shade tree mechanic. I guess that's the way i would put it yeah. This is great anyway on several occasions. I've had to use the old mechanics trick of you. Know basically beating off apart with a hammer When something stock people have said to me well you know if you if you can't get it off being with the hammer you you might try. He ended up at that. Propane torch because you know that loosening it up a little bit and they're almost right well. It doesn't seem right to me at all. Because i mean i remember when i was in physics in college you know. We did this experiment with you. Went to college. Yeah and you want to be mechanic shape but I remember experiment. We did with this. We we took a brass ring and abreast fear and the ring or the spirit fit through the ring and then heated up the ring and then this beer didn't fit to the ring anymore because when when a solid expansion expansion all direction correct so if you had a brake drum for example that was stuck on the hub. Right by heating it up. You would make the whole in the drums smaller. It would make sense and you would make the axle flange a bigger therefore sway. Djing them together right. He would in fact make it more difficult to get them apart. Well that's the way it seems. But maybe i just have enough physics to really messed me up. Yeah well. I.

"This is one of my favorites where to place your tongue when not talking away. If you have additional suggestions for all curriculum you can send them to us here at week. Car talk plaza. I realize your bulk interrupt me. Otherwise i will interrupt me when i'm interrupting you. I noticed that all of these departments that use you give the address for. It's always the same box box number. Thirty five hundred bucks it is. That's big well. What if people have questions about cars and they didn't wanna talk about gig. What would they do that. Number is eight car talk. That's one eight two seven eight two five five. Hello you're on car talk. Virginia hi belania. From where trenton new jersey the highest city in the country. Yes gentlemen that's true. How many times has your carbon stolen this week. Three times in the last four months really we. What's the story with those trenton nights. Well it's just some young kids that have to steal cars in order to stay in the gang it's like The equivalent of college hazing. You got a like an initiation of something. They returned the card you afterwards. Is that the car back within. Twenty four hours would shape as well. That's what drives me crazy. Because in order to get into the car what they do. Is they peel back. The metal frame from the door kind of like in which. Which really is something you gotta see because you just so happy when you see that in the morning you know case it's it's kinda sad And then they go in and they put a a device into the ignition and they check that out and then they drive off in the car and they have a nice ride and then took they leave it somewhere and then cops find it the next day and they call you and you come in you. Pick it up okay. Now let's accept the fact that if you're gonna stay in trenton. Your car is going to be stolen. That's there are two ways that you can solve these problems number one. Don't lock the car. I don't you. Don't walk the car. they can't record probably record anyway. They would never expect leo in those all lethal puzzle. No no locks. The sign says no stereo. No cd plant no locks and number to leave the key in the ignition gonna steal it and just leave notes. Could you kindly have. It backed by seven thirty. I got a meeting goliath war. It's so funny you know kinda disheartening. You get up in the morning and find your car on. We don't we don't think it's insert. Something should be done in. My car has been stolen a few times. Also anyways that what you want to talk about the drug the stealing of your car. I brought that up. I don't know if that's what you wanted to bring a couple of questions. Because they did jerk ignition out. I didn't put it back in. And i've been driving the car with a screwdriver. Then i put the club on it and the last time it was stolen they pop the club off and left it on my sidewalk for me. How did they pop the club off. State put a a screw thing into the lock and extracted. The law extracted the law. So much for that. I'm sure the club will be thrilled to hear that we did. You did a club for the club so at this point. Now i'm reduced to taking the coil. Wire out of the car every night and i wanna know am i going to two things and my damaging my ignition. Doing any damage by using the screwdriver to to turn it on. All my friends are going nuts. Whenever i pull out the screwdriver. And whenever i go into court and i have to go through the x. screener they always take the screwdriver away from me not make but the answer is no. You're not doing any damage to anything. By using the scrutiny. Screwdriver is just oblige. Key and sewing. It's doing exactly what the key would do. Yeah put a nice camaro faubion on it kind of gm cars this. This is a honda hondas. The number one. St lable car. They must be easy to steal. They i don't know they love to take them. Everybody's car on the street. That i live on his stolen. At least once you have insurance for this No deductible is high. Also you've always pay for the repairs when when your targets returns. You're paying for the window. Trim and the and the ignition switch. And all that i did. I didn't fix the ignition. Because i knew if i did. They'd only pull it out again. That's a good reason for not fixing it every time four months but can do any damage by taking the coil. Wire out every night absolutely not. That's a pain in the neck and you could do. The equivalent of taking the coil wire out by installing a kill switch. What that what goes something that mealy. You're the person who tries to steal your good mealy interrupts the flow of trinity to the ignition system. So that it's tantamount to taking the coil wire because you sparkplug get no spark you could also do something a little more sophisticated because they know about these things you could have something that would. For example cut off your fuel injection pump fuel pump. That and that would be a little more clever and you can even hide the switch l. Get some kind of an uncle box or something like that. And i think that those things are better see even the cars have those kill switches. The thieves don't know about it until they break into the car right so he first of all. If you do have something that you should it. But i think more put. We have to resign yourself to leaving the car open. Oh i do. Yeah i mean you really have to decide. Is it really that you don't want the car stolen on you. Don't want to be attempted to be stolen. And it's really both that you want and we're more than not stealing it as you don't want him to break into it anything value in it at all now so i mean. I think my brother's original suggestion was not really meant facetiously of leaving it unlocked. I wasn't memphis. Oh you re. If you leave it unlocked they will. They will not have to break into it if you leave the keys. They won't have to break the ignition switch but then if you have a kill switch they won't be able to drive away. you know. The truth is. I'm quite sure that this is true. At least it used to be true. If your car is not locked then the insurance company can can deny your claim. Yes they can and even though people are going to do more damage. I hate to tell you this guy's but i'm a lawyer. We knew that we know you're a lawyer virginia. Well you said you went into the courthouse. You're a lawyer art orange county. Yeah i think that's right now. The insurance companies are the cause of every problem in this country until they decide to prosecute these car. Thieves and the problem will be solved. Carry the screwdriver. Kill switch installed have one on the ignition and one put on the fuel pump. You'll pump and don't put two or three put switches all over the place okay. They'll never steal it again. they'll give up. It'll be too hard and they'll go to somebody else. Okay good luck virginia. Thank you bye-bye one eight car talk or one eight eight eight two two seven eight two five five. Hello you're on car talk albakov. I live in shreveport louisiana. Hi al which you last name. And the interesting thing is as i'm zooming in i think you can see the maserati trident on jeb. Because barely just barely. Yeah because like. I said this is a maserati sourced. Engine it just in a situation and the other thing is This is the accumulator for that oil. I was just talking about and it says refill only with m. h. liquid and it's green because that liquid was green. And if you scroll up caution do not use brake. Fluid refill only with green l. h. liquid. Because if you use brake fluid which is also hydraulic. I think it would screw up. Still the seals or something. Yeah breakings would happen. Break fluid extraordinarily corrosive but he. I did take another shot. Make sure sure. Yeah and you can see the maserati. Tried a little bit better there. What that was cool. Tastic cars man. I do have to. I have to give two quick. Shout outs to to people before we move onto. Yours your let. Let's look at this all day. Well if you have sort of like a slide show of you up right now. And i'm seeing all kinds of stuff. I want to look at look at arek seven so this is according what year. What year is that. i think. eighty three. Yes that's an early eighties seven. Yeah so this guy. He is a single owner. This is a single owner example. It's always been as possession. But the thing i love and we've talked about this before that frigging graphic equalizer. That's physical yawn. The dashboard and look clean. This is this is a one owner car. I think it was eighty three. But yeah it's fantastic was is that is that a brown interior maroon the roots interior. Okay i yeah. I mean if feels very early. Eighty s totally totally by early eighties. Fantastic so speaking of the two things that i love in the world dogs and cars let me find it. I gotta give a ton accredit to this guy. So i saw this guy walking around the italian car thing before. I you know more more mazdas that we're looking at here more mazda row didn't know anything about him but he's got a a durable swedish violent. Which is the apparent. The story i've heard. Is that the vikings when they arrived in wales the sweetest dogs bred with the welsh dogs. And you've got a corgi. And i owned a corgi and love him. So the swedish vol. Who is the progenitor of the corey but also this guy owns a frigging sweet. Rx7 not like this guy. That's that's an fd right. Yeah that's an yeah. Yeah yeah and then super-quick one last thing that i wanna share here. I guess if anyone is in the market if anyone wants a dragon ball z rat. Honda beat this one. If you're watching on youtube happens to be for sale. Here's one side. Here's the other side and if you really want. Here's the nice man's phone number that is that is a honda a ninety-one honda beat. Yep and yeah. I mean it's not i mean there's not like little secret is wrapped hood sides that is it's wrapped. What if you're gonna do a dragon ballsy wrap at works on one hundred. Beat i gotta say it works. Yeah and so the thing. Let me see so. This was the same after. Go back to the whole thing. It was the same owner. He also had a honda. Act you there. Which is the van so you can see he. He was talking to everybody. He was a real personal will guy. But this talk about that Can we talk about that. S. two thousand behind him there. Yeah yeah that that wasn't his. You didn't know now. He owned honda. S two thousand. He owned also owned the beat sale. So so now your turn show me what you got very cool i. I don't know how in how on earth i can follow that. So let me let me dispel some little bit. So rapid city south dakota. there's a surprisingly diverse car. Seen here and this past saturday there's a group called photo motive Couple of guys amazing automotive. Photographers amazing enthusiasts. And for quite a while they've been putting together a lot of shows i'm they single handedly got cars and coffee moving out here in the black hills and it's become a big a big deal Lots of cars show up. They hope they host a once a month. They decided a while back. Hey let's do an eighties nineties event. There is a place out here called game on where they have like laser tag stuff. They have a nice venue and they partnered up with them to host whether called carcade eighties nineties night they had they had eight hundred ninety s music they had a taco truck out there with food. They were game setup outside and of course people showed up with cars. They had room for forty cars so it's not hundreds and hundreds room for forty cars. I was there with my ninety five. Mustang also took my nine hundred eighty-five five general hustler pro freestyle. bmx bike. That i restored a few years ago. A i'm a. I'm a child of the eighties. But let me let me share some of the pictures that i took the event there and hopefully see him. I haven't seen a few. And i said don't show any this works for me and van for me a little bit because guess what bruce. The share isn't working again. Okay well i can talk. So you're good. You're good i can. I can talk more about the event that i went to. So what are the big highlights this year and it's the first time they're doing it. This year is that they had vintage cars specifically ones from kind of the late mid to late sixties. Up until kinda early to mid eighties and the one really really special really really cool. One that was there was one of the turbine powered cars. really yet. You don't get to see so I will share a photo of that. Now that i've got i've got mine ready if you wanna hear howard indycar. It's a great. It sounds like the world's loudest vacuum cleaner like it just as the track of it wasn't going that fast but yeah okay. Let's see what you got. Turbine powered indycar. I counter that with a z. Thirty one three hundred turbo. I thing take on the left. Hand side this thing and let me. Let me tell you a little bit of backstory. Because i talked to the owner of this car at length okay and friends this is what being enthusiasts is all about because this car looks gorgeous gorgeous outside. It's gorgeous inside he. I saw this car like five or six years ago sitting in somebody's backyard here in rapid city and he always loved z thirty one and he went up to the house one day and say hey would you be interested in selling it guys like. I don't know it hasn't running a while. I like to let me see if i can get it running it. Had it had rust. It he said he had to do all kinds of welding patch of the floors. I mean what i say. He sought sitting in a backyard. It wasn't like it sitting on the pedestal in the backyard. It's like it sunk into the backyard and b's cars aren't worth a ton of money z. Thirty one you can find a nice one the turbo with a t top for like maybe ten or fifteen grand. That's really. I was thinking right around. Ten was not that much money so in restoring a vehicle like this with the idea of getting a return on investment. No you're doing this simply because you love the car and this guy was amazing to talk to and get when you look at this car. It is just gorgeous. It is is the exact while the only thing that i wouldn't want on my z. Thirty one three hundred z x. I'm not a big fan of white. It looks good. That's what i the color for those cars. I i would rather have it red or silver. But i but i mean. I'm i'm being really nit-picky here. This thing was just gorgeous tee tops and this is the one car you and i talked. You said it had digital gauges to it. Had a digital gauges manual transmission. It's it's mostly stock ebbing. He's got he's got some a pillar gauge pods in there..

"Man i'm. I'm really excited to see that. I'm really excited to get behind the wheel and drive it and vehicle that i'm least interested in one thing to your comment real quick so for anyone who listens to us our sister site inside eady's e we called they ought to have a podcast that comes down to hand One of the people who are commonly on them and has been on with us before yom log me he got to check out a pre production f150 lightning in granted. This was a pre production vehicle but he was saying that what he was seeing on the range calculator on that vehicle was kind of more than what ford is even saying that scheme multiple of a number more than three hundred. Put it that way. He didn't go into specifics he just said it was more than three hundred. So i think the ford f. one fifty lightning could be a really really impressive truck when it arrives. That's at. I wanna say absolutely and sorry but i'm not i'm not really interested in the new. Wrx i'm not. I think it's for the reasons that you talked about. I know that it's the least interesting vehicle to me for. Twenty twenty two that i want to see but i can tell you that i don't really care and gti that i am the bureaucrats and once upon a time i cared. I really cared about subaru. Once upon a time. I was all over the five legacy. Gt when that came out. I loved that car. You know the the rex's through the two thousands. I was all about and you're absolutely right on their styling. They just seem to be. I don't know what they seem to be. It doesn't look terrible but it doesn't look good. There's there's a lot of awkwardness in the design. I think and. I don't think it's awkward. I don't think there's if from what we're seeing of the new. Wrx you would be hard pressed to tell it a tell apart from the current wrx. It's that they've not a fan of that one either. I'm not either but it just seems like they decided on something and that they're not going to deviate from it and they're not going to experiment with something new and super has always been somewhat conservative in terms of styling but this is just too much in the current climate of things where you look at you. Know honda's kind of press pushing things forward Pushing things forward. Yeah a man. I'm not happy with it right. And i mean a great question totally and i wish we had more commenters that could The engage our brains like that we want to have these conversations with you. Bruce kirita can. I read a comment that we had on youtube last week. Of course go for it. Okay where did it go. come on. we're live here while we're not live but we're almost live life to tape man. Okay so this. In just two days ago and and i thought it was very insightful. It was from person named ted here on youtube Being an owner and this is in response to the question we had last week of a lady who was looking for her next fund vehicle always had a lot. who's who enjoyed the heck out of her velociraptor. I was looking for fun vehicle. Under fifty thousand dollars. We ended up tossing out a lot of hyundai and kia options. Yes stare and late to santa. we toss out the santa cruz. You and i wanna read. I'm reading ted's article or ted's comment here because he's an owner of one thousand nine hundred velocity so he's kind of giving us a little bit of that extra insight there being an of a twenty nine hundred lahser. Has you know by now. I see the stinger and santa cruz. Both has natural progressions from it. The stinger is a solid choice. Going with a more substantial performance vehicle. Santa cruz is a solid choice for upgrading in the quirky nature. And i like how i like. That's presenting because of lobster is a rather quirky vehicle in little hatchback section and santa cruz is also going to be a quirky vehicle in the compact truck section. He has a points out that also with the top drive train that seems to be from velocity n in the santa cruz. It should be sufficiently fun too. And i've been saying that all along with the dual clutch transmission all wheel drive in that santa cruz. That could be fun. Little st truck carrying a bit more weight than the end. But hey still a hoot between the two. I'd go stinger since it has the hatch utility and a bit more substance about it but if you gave me a santa cruz for my velocity. I'd still be thrilled. I think. I mean i'm not just reading that comment because he supported our opinions because i mean to there are so many there are so many choices you can go for a vehicle sub fifty grand. You could buy but the woman we talked about. She was definitely and she was a fan of the hundai. Family appeals which is why we chose kia and genesis. Art and hundai as well santa cruz now and i just keep coming back to santa cruz. I i have a feeling that when when a santa cruz arrives to the honda dealership. That's about three miles away from me. I'm gonna have to go in and and take a pretty close look at it. It's bad enough. I wrote through the kia dealership yesterday. And they've got a new shipment of fives in and i. I'm really liking the k. Five and i can get it all wheel drive. I priced a lease. I could be leasing for about two hundred bucks a month with my trade. And that's and that's been really modest on my rate into and right now is not a time to be modest because used cars are a hot commodity. So i mean. It's it's been very tempting but when you look at the k. five it should be hatchback and. I don't know why didn't do that because the trunk lid is so extreme laughably small you open it up i mean there's there's good access Vertically at the back but the horizontal. I mean you have. I think was. What's maybe eight inches. Maybe seven or eight inches before it hits the back window and it's like why don't you just make that a hatchback the access back there and the capability of that vehicle would be amazing and it would still look the same. That's the point. A lot of people don't like the look of a hatchback and would look the same as it does right now. I do not understand why the stinger is not more popular. Honestly like i feel as though in terms of a car like. Let's say you know you're married. You've got a kid or two. You're looking for something affordable but it still fund drive like when you're alone i do not understand why the stinger is not a more popular vehicle. Well i think it just. I think it's just an it's most desirable for it's just too expensive for five four for the for the target market that he is going for and i think it is. I mean i. I think that's why it's not. I mean i would take the stinger over a k. Five but looking. I mean i'm not interested in doing a purchase. I'm not that big of a depreciation hit and i don't want that big of a monthly payment and they don't have great incentives for leases. And if you're going to have a big monthly payment like that. I mean there are other cars. I'd rather have to be honest. I think you are raising. All of the.

IndyCar Driver Sage Karam to Make NASCAR Debut at Indianapolis

"Karam is set to make his NASCAR debut in next month's Xfinity series race at the Indianapolis Road Course. Karen will be driving the number 31 Chevy for Jordan Anderson Racing, Woody Kane had a chance to catch up with sage following the recent announcement. You may know him from the IndyCar ranks, but he's also done just a little bit of everything, it seems erasing I racing. Low control cars, dirt bikes, the N C car series the Rolex 24 You name it, but sage. Now you're going to go racing the Xfinity series. Are you just trying to check off all the items from the bucket list or what? Yeah. You know, I think as a race car driver, it's really good to you know, get in as much stuff as you possibly Can. You learn more and more with everything Get to drive. So this is just something for me to to get a good good triad, and hopefully it's something that leads to something else down the road. I've always said that I really wanted to get an X An Xfinity car. Um, I just really never knew how to Get about that. Like, who? To contact and stuff like that. But, you know, we had a really good run at the end of 500 this year, getting seventh and I think that opened up some doors. And, you know, I'm really excited to, uh To be on board with Jordan Anderson Racing in the number 31 Montage Mountain Chevy Camaro, So I think it's going to be a lot of fun going to one of my favorite tracks that you know the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on the road course this time, so I'm looking forward to it. Is NASCARs NextGen Car Going Electric?

"This week. Nascar unveiled our next gen cup series race car. That's gonna make its debut next season and from the first glance look amazing. Let's check out the styling. It's similar to the cars that you can buy at your local show remorse. Oh than ever ford mustang. Chevrolet camaro and toyota camry looked just like these race cars now. Some of the components feature things found on your car right now and for the last few decades actually otherwise not seen in nascar like independent rear suspension rack and pinion steering and bigger breaks and they have an eye on the future. The gearing package will feature the ability to incorporate electrification that martha turning point. I think we will hear a ton more about these future cars all year long for now. Let's get some thoughts from the defending cup series champion. Chase elliott miami guys coming in. Who don't have those. You know five years or ten years or fifteen years of experience and they don't know any better right so there's no bad habits to have to be broke my vantage point change to me. This is my sixth year which is crazy but with those six years i have created habits and things that i do inside the car that i'm curious to see apply if they apply next year nod and i think i'm not the only guy in that boat so looking forward to to seeing seeing what the challenges are and how to work through

GM going electric

"Starting things off talking about general motors engines. And the reason we're doing that are two very interesting in pieces of news. We've got Last week gm announced that as of twenty thirty five th they are going to stop offering internal combustion engines in their light cars so basically you might still be able to get a va in your silverado. Twenty five hundred or something like that but vast majority of their vehicles probably even performance stuff like your corvette if the camaro still around then those are all going to be e vs or maybe plug in hybrids but basically gas a purely gas powered engines are not in their future and so i wrote up the road up the story last week and it really got my gear. Spit on that. You know g. m. is one of the oldest auto makers in the world nerd. They've got over one hundred years of history and there are some absolutely fantastic internal combustion engines in that town at also. Interestingly this week. I'm this is a story that you wrote about it is at you know. Cadillac announced that the new cto four. V black-wing c. T. v. black wing. Those are going to be the last v models from cadillac with internal combustion engines and so it really seems like gm serious about this at least for right now So yeah it's it's a weird time. Jim anything to add about the cadillac part of that. Well i mean yes. And no. I guess the bigger question is whether or not gm can actually pull this off than our commenters brought up as well as you know. Twenty thirty is a long time and time away make makes promises that doesn't necessarily keep so they they sometimes don't always follow through most of the all of the time. Maybe i i. I don't wanna sound too harsh on gm. Because i mean they're they're they're going forward and and i mean frankly they have to go for it right. The whole industry is moving in that direction. And we're we're faced with a gm lineup right. Now that is pretty much almost completely devoid of any electrification Damning they have some Just wanted just a couple of vehicles right off the top of my head. Of course they've got the the gmc hummer okay. i. I don't know if a hundred and ten thousand dollar luxury electric pickup truck is really going to be the the mainstream savior but yeah fourteen. Years can get there and cadillac. I mean these These amazing looking sports sedans. That's going to be the the end

Laura Wontrop Klauser, Chevrolet sports car program manager for Corvette Racing, Cadillac Racing

"We have. Laura want closer. Who was recently named the sports car racing program manager for general motorist racing. and laura. I just wanna start out. Thanks for being here. Thanks for having me. This is really exciting right well. I know that you're down. Daytona beach is well been exciting week for you and the race pergram. I want to get to that. But let's just start i without you. Were just recently named sports car racing program manager for general motors prior to that you were the program manager for gm's cadillac. Dpi program in the weathertech sportscar championship series. So just tell us about your job your role and how it's changed in the last week with this new position. Sure yes so by going over to be the sports car racing program manager in simple terms. What has happened is i now have all of our sports car programs which includes cadillac. Of course the camaro gt four program. And then the big one that i just picked up corvette which thrilled to be a part of of that team in that program and essentially the roles the same except just working with the different teams program manager's job at gm. We control the budget for the various programs. And that's laid out differently depending on if it's a customer program or factory program or you how we want to do that and then we also are the single point contact for the teams back to gm and also for the chassis suppliers and engine suppliers is so if they have any questions or any concerns that they want to relay back they see you go through me and then i'll take it to what i need to do. Either make a decision or or go above me. If i need to to solve a problem and then also very much. Integrated into design and development of the race cars at this point for all of those three programs. I just mentioned the cars are done. Which is exciting. So the new design and development. That i'll hopefully be getting into will be anything we do for future programs. Which is something that i'm involved in you know looking at. What would we like to do for from gm's perspective. Where do we wanna race. What brands do we want to race. All of that in the sports car arena. So it's nice. I have all different things. I get to be focused on which keeps the days different every single one and also keeps it so that i never get bored. Doing one thing like you said i mean. You've had a lot to your plate here with this new role. Previously mentioned you oversaw cadillac. And now. you've got corvette racing under your umbrella as well general question like how many people would you say you over at the company. I know you work with teams. So i guess it's probably different than if you were like a team manager but like in your role as a as a program manager that works with several sports teams. How many people would you say. You're you're looking here that's a. That's a good question If you count the teams is being part of the family. Which very much do even though. I'm not gonna go tell a mechanic what to do. That's not my job. But you know i wanna make sure that i look out for all them. Each team is at least you know what the rolex bring more people but twenty thirty people depending and then. What is this year at the rolex we have nine cars three camaros for lax and two corvettes. So i guess if you add it all up it's quite a few people especially with delara and ecr and then our engine team at gm included in there But like i said i. I don't really directly manage you. Know what the teams do in terms of telling the mechanics how to put the wheel on or anything along those lines. It's more so just giving them the connection. And then i control the purse strings for a lot of it especially the corvette program so you know ultimately it's like one of those love hate relationships. We have to work together to each. Get what we need

May encounter that how that? All right. So what are you? What are you guys? Familiar, rather you guys with Mickey? Thompson? I know that he makes the tires the drag boys. Does he make? Did they make off road tires? and then I, know that he had a gold mine. Well really actual, Gold Mine at some point. Yeah I don't know about that because wasn't he the one who went and like. got smokey eunuch in a gold mining. Maybe. I remember smokey had one but that sounds vaguely familiar thompson who who like got smokey into the into the game I. Believe I haven't heard of any of this. So I'm excited to dive into this and I. Always feel. That way. But this one is like, I should have known about this dude there are no google results for Mickey, Thompson Gold Mine but that you know maybe it's true we have to go find Mickey Thompson's gold. City slickers to. All right So let's just get into it. Mickey Thompson was born Marian Lee. Thompson Junior on December seventh nineteen twenty eight in San Fernando California. He went by Mickey and not marrying because in his own words quote a girl's name would mean even more fighting. I do like the name Marian it's pretty cool. Yeah. Like that, he said even more five eighty. We'll see. Yeah, he. Likes to get into it the San Fernando Valley home to Ventura. Boulevard and Mulholland. Drive was a fitting birthplace for a kid who would become defined by hot rods and dragsters. The valley is one of the original cradles of Car Culture I. I will say it still is today it's very like I went to see us you northridge up there in the valley and it is a muscle car town everyone drives either a charger challenger Camaro or Mustang it's pretty cool. I haven't met many people from the Valley with a valley accent most liked. Girls and Valley boys that I've talked to are from like Hollywood and Venice specifically. Venice. But never really never never from the valley there's I. Mean there's a lot of people. See us you northridge is a commuter school. There's a lot of people from that area that go there and I never really heard that typical valley you know yeah, I think it's kind of a pass a kind of thing. Now it was big at a time I. Don't think it's as big anymore you gotta meet some people from Venice. It's very much alive while not Nevada is on saying I think that the the new thing is. Not New but like the the big vocal fad was the vocal fry God. Yeah. Dashing vocal. John. We Sold our show got. Because we have less views per episode than Donut does perfect. Indirectly, Kris Kardashian directly sourced us. Did you see that onion article that was like the show ends when I wanted to? Rise into, the ocean. I will say Kendall Jenner Architecture Digest open-door episode is pretty cool. She's got a cool house and that's all say on that that rich girl has a cool how it's not just a cool house James. There's a difference like if you watch those videos, there's like real people houses and then there's there's rich people houses with no taste and then as rich. People houses with actual taste and define style, Kendall Jenner, and then Mark Mark. Ronson Mark Ronson Mark Ronson is the best very cool. House is not annoying at all I would like to hang out with Mark Ronson I. Don't know much about a hundred percent want to go to that house hundred percent did anyway that's that's our only Hollywood digression for the episode. California's on fire right now guys so much so that I got gotta check engine light yesterday because I was putting on the new intake, my car, and then like I stopped because I needed another tool and then I put my older back together. But I didn't tighten the thing for the math enough and I just sucked in a bunch of ashish and it like Oh. No. Covered my maths I have a math cleaner if you need it. I had a check engine light a few days ago. Was not fire related. It just turns out that when my coil packs was bad and I had to change it out and not fixed it. So I'm pretty happy. "Ambush. Rocks it rocks real good. I don't know about you Chris but I like this I, like it a lot. And as far as if you actually know who ambushes and you like them, I'm willing to bet that you also like Wasp Lizzie, borden and kiss is it. On Ebay, you can get a copy of this CD on Ebay, but it's going to cost you between fifty five hundred bucks. Yeah pretty rare. I got myself a deal. Ed Ten at the great escape. You don't like the music I. Don't know what's wrong with you. Tell me why Earth Lago over the the notes that I jotted down when I was listening to that. Okay. So. I loved. I notice Oh. Boy, this is not good. Second is drunk the drum sound worse than Saint. Anger METALLICA. The vocals are horrific. No. And this was released on New Millennium Records, which I will bet one hundred dollars that this label operates out of one of the band members bedroom. It's fucking terrible that I. I love you and I appreciate your perspective on music but the aren't GonNa partways on this one band because this is awful I love their image but God musically, it's terrible. Wow See and I couldn't agree with you more on this one. This one I really liked as far as songs on my ipod. All on there every single song it doesn't remind you like some cool Waspa- Lizzie borden or something if it was done capably. Yeah. Wow. See I don't. Man I gotta disagree with you one hundred percent on this I really love this between this one and to the were my two favorite alcohol dude come on you can't compare this to but dave two-bit thief is like ten times the band that this is I don't know indifferent they're both awesome in different ways but I think this band is really good. It and I've had like to be fair and you know this I've had a shit week. So maybe I'm not the right head space for this album, but it did not do anything warming. Yeah. What's your problem? Go cut down a tree or something? Why is ambush in the cudjoe been I think they probably stayed in New Jersey for too long this. This is what's cool about this band they do have a facebook page and on that facebook page which I would like you guys to go like this page and then tell this and that you heard us talking about them on the desk Geek podcast but they got the whole right up on their facebook page if go check it out and like it and everything, you'll see that they started way early I mean there were kids in New Jersey this isn't the case of a band who started too late this is a band that was young and we're coming up they opened for bands like. Cinderella in New Jersey I. Think what stop them was. They didn't move to La soon enough if they'd have got to L. A. With the image, it's almost like they started out as a regular ban. You look at it like early on pictures of them totally influenced by Molly crew especially image wise and then later on, they do the mask, the mask and kind of robot thing but I don't know it's not like they're overdoing the gimmick because I seen some footage of them from the whisky a go go in nineteen, ninety, six and I think that's really what it boils down to here I. Think this is a good band and I think they got a cool image but nineteen ninety-six and. Nobody was happening at that time I said if you like Wasp and you like Lizzie, Bordon, you're probably going to like ambush. But if you're in nineteen ninety-six looking for the new hot thing, this probably ain't it but they've got two other albums. They've got one before this one king of the dogs before they were robots and then became robots for King of the dogs and then they came up with another album after that. Weren't robots which to me hey, it doesn't matter if they're robots or not. I. Think this Music Kicks Ass and apparently from what I read on their facebook page back in the late two thousands they of reunited and did some stuff and we're talking about making new music but I haven't I don't know nothing about him since then that's what's weird about some of these bands. You just don't know whatever happened to them, and you just don't know what they're doing now. Well go on their facebook page and say Chris. Zach is an asshole. Yeah. Thanks. While it's funny. This reminds me of I actually watched a documentary on Amazon prime last night called the working class Rockstar and it was made in the mid two thousand and it's like mostly about more hardcourt stuff than we cover like death metal type stuff. Yeah. But and it was banned from Canada. But it was interesting to watch because it shows us kind of the struggles between bands at that time trying to go through. You know playing clubs for twenty people and Shit like that and trying to actually randy blythe from lamb of God was kind of a mentor to a lot of these bands at the time, and like Obama got hadn't really totally taken off at the time but the that time that he was viewed as kind of a God during the time. But It's interesting to watch. So anything I say negative about any of these bands trust me. I. It's more in Jest and more as a joke 'cause I was with you I mean I didn't as far as even ambushed dead. So like I mean I played local clubs traveled in a van on weekends but even ambushed probably outdid me as far as music that's do fucking podcast right? You know you look at Lake the dude from Jesse's power trip that is working in the drum industry. Now you know and these bands. And these guys you know they're musicians. So it's never like completely oh, I'm not a musician anymore. I'm this. Now you know it's always a part of them and it's cool to see that bans are still you know even if they took their shot back in the nineties and didn't quite make it, there are still in their hearts musicians and you know on the weekends in a normal situation maybe not well, we're living through right now. But in a normal situation, there are still out there at the clubs are still doing stop you know and. Fuck you Chris ambushed rocks other any my hat's off anybody that's out there trying to make it happen. It's definitely easier.

"Lookouts. Guy. But after that track, the rest of it is of straightforward hard rock you know and as actually pretty good overall. Yeah, if you could get that first track is good. I just think that Jonker. Avi might be facing a lawsuit when it comes to their logo John Yeah if you look at the logo in the, it's not on this record but on the record after this, they used a certain logo that's kind of a stylized J. C. Logo and It looks almost exactly like what be used for his acoustic record that came out a few years back. So I don't know they might both be in trouble with the son of the Lord. Yeah. Well, that's another thing is like they're apparently there are Christian Act Alley. Yeah and Funniest common I saw on Youtube but some saying can't they see they're not making Christianity better. They're making metal worse. Oh. Man. He Yeah. I can kind of see that I had a tough time with this album. So is an Ebay. The second album look at death now is but I didn't see this one on there at all. Are they still around I guess they are individually but I don't think they're doing jet circus anymore. If you actually know who jet circuses and you like them. Then I'm guessing you probably also like Shotgun Messiah, nine inch nails, the Scorpions and Vinnie Vincent invasion because I think if you take these four bands and throw them into a blender, somehow some way what comes out. Is Circus. I think there's potential there but they did not didn't realize it. Yeah. Why is this album in the cuddle? Ben Well, I think in the early ninety someone said. You know we need more bands that makes rock with electron eq music, but this is not what they meant. Well there's a lot of like Swedish bands that we love. Now are hardcore superstar eclipse a lot of bands well, like this is the kind of the cutting edge of that I. Guess this is really this album is pretty far like said, you got really good. You GotTa Keyboardist and a guitar player that are fucking awesome at what they're doing. They're both really good singers I mean the songs are well written songs but there's no drummer. What you get is kind of like a rap drummer kind of loop sorta thing going on here with this stuff and almost like dance polar medal it's really kind of weird songs the ipod for me. Zero audit ten for now. I'm going give this album another chance I'm going to give it some more listens because like Chris said other than that weird I rap song that kicks the album off there really is some good stuff here and the guitar playing is Pretty Damn phenomenal. That's why throw the vinnie Vincent invasion into the mix because the guitar playing is amazing. The Scorpions I throw in there because they got that melodic thing going on in a lot of the same ways that Scorpions were successful with that like throw the nine inch nails into the blender because you got a lot of samples, the fake drums and all that and shotgun Cya. Because I mean that's kind of what this band was doing too. I mean I could see these guys kind of being contemporaries around that time where shock him Cya Kinda experimented with like the punk rock kind of mixing it with Pop Rock, mixing it with hard rock and there's a lot of mixed your stuff on this album. It's a lot today. Jest I mean, is this an album I think I could probably listen to all the way through in dig that thinks so but as far as pop it up on the shuffle I don't know if this band is good for that. This is an album banned. Yeah it's it's definitely different for sure. So I. got a couple more left. We got two more left on. Camaros cut out in this week so far we find some winners. We found some that are not so great. We found some you know basically, all these bands today have been really good but it's all a matter of flavor what you like, what's your style, but there's a little something here today for everybody I think because none of these bands are really just terrible. Some of them are really fucking good and some of. Them you know are a matter of taste. This next one I think anybody could dig this. This is a band called. The radio vipers an album that came out in two, thousand, six called the morning sunburst where did I get this? One man I got this one at the goodwill yeah you know you go to the goodwill the wife's looking at lady clothes and stuff you got to kill some time. So you make your way back to the CD's and This day I went back there and I found all of cool stuff because they had a whole bunch those mid-2000s for say's rock tribute albums. You remember those don't you not really but I'm amazed that you found an Italian metal band in two thousand and five and a goodwill see I there they were Italian what I fall next day was not only this album but I found a tribute to Sammy Hagar I found a tribute to Tina Turner that's got. KIP winger on it and a bunch of other weird tribute albums. But Radio Vipers was one that stood out to me because I recognize them because they had been included on some of these weird cover albums that I had I remember them doing a cover of a guns and roses song that actually ends up on this album. Yeah. They do a cover of it's so easy on here, which is pretty damn cool. So where you got here is a band. I had no idea there from. I don't know nothing about them. There's really nothing out there on then span I know that Ms Ryan is on vocals. Manny Pearl is on. Guitar Sarah Stripe is on Bass in Iggy street is on drums. Does it rock. Bottom..

"This is Swedish disco rap. Power. Metal. So. Yeah. This is really far out really Farro it's two dudes. One of them is named Terry Haw and the other one is named as goarmy. Air. There from Sweden. Does Iraq. Iraq. But it's also pretty freaking weird. This is about the most experimental thing that I can imagine you talking about a couple of dudes from Sweden. One of them is really really good on the keyboards. And can do some sampling and weird stuff that you know was pretty unique in the year nineteen ninety. The other one is a hell of a guitar player. Both of these guys can sing. Sing their asses off. But again, what grammy on this was the album cover and I looked at it I saw girls, Girls Girls Bhai Motley crue. This has got to be bad, ass. But. What you get is really Kinda strange. What did you think of Jet Circus Well. My first word of advice is for anyone listening to this album. Skip the first. Track. The first track. What was the name of the first track? Let me look it up with. Gm all over the place here. That circus victory right dance. Victory Death do not listen to victory dance because it'll ruin you for the rest of the record. It's Swedish Disco Rap Power Metal? picked..

"Yeah. He loved he used to play this record all the time when I was hanging out at his house. That's awesome. One Yeah. All right. I, got ten of them today we got one down here's number two. This is one that I got the big old five CDs for dollar sale that they do every once in a while at the great escape here, Nashville Tennessee always loved that it's hit and miss but you know what? When CDs are a quarter of peace it really loosens up my standards quite a bit. It allows me the opportunity to buy something that I've never heard based on pretty much just a quick examination of the CD case and the artwork in that instance becomes very, very important. So. What made me drop a whole twenty five cents on a band called Neon. Will first off they got a really cool logo gives me kind of kiss makes with black Sabbath feelings when I look at it and really that's all it took twenty five cents I'm willing to give this shot plus the sticker that's on. It describes them as being influenced by the rock pack leaders of nineteen seventy, five to nineteen eighty, five neon horse. "The co-hosts along with their honest holds no-holds-barred opinions are more than enough reason to give them a listen the running jokes and call backs to earlier conversations never failed to amuse me I love these guys and you should too but you can't love them before you like him. So get started now you've got some catching up to do. And that comes to us from Paul Corn and it's fucking awesome. We'll speak callback backs. Here's vinnie Vincent's musical output for this week. Long. I love stuff like that, and you know makes that really cool is that because Paul corn is such an old school listener that came in way back in two thousand twelve when we're doing our inside jokes I know that there's always a handful of people that get it. There's always a ton of people that don't have no idea what the fuck we're talking about but there's always that special handful of people that'll remember that throwback joke to episode one, hundred, eight or something like that. It's cool to have people that have been on board that far back like Paul and we'd love all you new listeners to hear from you as well. But. It's great to it's great to have such a almost a decade behind us now is really hard to fucking believe. So as awesome as at is would sweet sweet facebook recommendation from are awesome. Old School good brother Paul Corn. I also had kind of gathered up a couple of comments that we had about last week's episode. When we went on the ebay treasure hunt that I thought were pretty cool I got one from Scott Smith and this one was a reminder of how you know you and I were week to week. You know we're always thinking about the next thing we're never thinking about you know two three, four episodes back. We're always on the move but what you don't think about when you're doing a podcast is at a lot of people will do. The Binge listen you know where they'll list do a whole bunch of them get caught up stopped for awhile and then start again and get caught up again we got a cool message from Scott Smith on the facebook that said listening to episode three ninety of Decibel. Geek podcasts from earlier this year while working around the House Chris in Zach and Erin Camaro I nearly died laughing at your comments on David Lee Roth, first night of the Vegas residency and Van Halen I had completely forgotten about that and I had to until he mentioned it. I don't even remember what I said, but I'm. Saying. You were Silver Sassou about David Lee. Roth. But it was damn. Funny. Well, he's had a fucking terrible patio footage. Yeah he sure did. We got another one from Angie Jacob said, got a birthday. Shout on my favorite rock and metal podcast between that and half of four eleven reunion and not having vid fiftieth birthday week was pretty fucking good. I liked to hear that. And then I gotta say we talk about this being a rock community and what we've created in there. So many people that comment on the facebook page and get in on the conversation and stuff when it came to last week and what we asked for at the end of the episode, Grayson Gaydos said great episode you guys always come up with fun and creative topics. How about enough's enough with this one? Any posted a link to this poster. That is like a one of a kind is a nineteen, ninety, eight double door Chicago and it's for awesome man it's got a clown. He's balancing on one hand on a ball. In his butthole he's balancing one leg of a chair in onto that chairs tied a beautiful woman and on top it says, Noth- enough on the by Mrs April Twenty Fifth One Thousand Nine Hundred Ninety Eight, and I want that poster so bad but I. It's three, hundred, sixty, one dollars ninety, nine cents down. But that's what I'm talking about right there. That's kind of what we call out for at the end of last week's episode get online look up your favorite band and let us know something cool. You found in your Ebay treasure hunt and as far as I can tell Grayson the only one that was picking up we're putting down all come on people and a lot of you have really awesome collections show off what you. have so I mean there's that and that's awesome. So thank everybody that comments on these episodes when they hello and I thank everybody that shares them and re tweets him. But the glory is unto itself because the people who do that are Geeks of the week. Yeah. Game of the week this week are Kristen Back Mad Ashcroft. Mark. Taylor. David Glenn Gis Capone Aaron Baker Adam Cox Trevor McDougal Mikhail Burrell Rock and Ron Right Indus- bTV Scott crowd of warrant Edward Larue Baker Andrew Jacobs Paul Smith Doug Vox jj Mac Hakan burks Todd Allen to Sean Body the soul JCP Danieli Eladio Vet Halen and there's always the. Food or See. That's one thing that I know makes the difference between recording together live when we're in the same room versus recording halfway across a couple of counties. We. Don't have the same vibe when when we do the mugere anymore I think that was as close as I've ever gotten having perfectly in synergy with you. Yeah. Pretty close but it's never going to be the perfect is when we can look each other in the is from cross the table and say the Mougar fooballer. But what are you GonNa do it's a quarantine. Yeah. Well, one thing that the quarantine can not stop. Is the return. Of Camaros cutout Ben if you're not familiar with this, let me reintroduce you to the concept. I am crazy. Ask My wife. She'll tell you when she standing in a music store that's got boxes random CD's, and she's been there for an hour and I'm going. Yeah. Hang on hang on hang on just give me a just give me a few more minutes. She knows I'm crazy when it comes to CDs, I will go anywhere if I think CDs, are sale. There I will pick through numerous boxes of bullshit to find one CD that I think might be cool and I go to all the good sales. We got great stores here, Nashville. I'M GONNA. Tell you about some of them here today because I picked up some awesome stuff going to a lot of different places and when it comes down to CDs that are dirt. Cheap. And I don't know if they rock or not. But I'm willing to give it a shot. Those are what makes up Camaros cut been. These are CDs that I probably spend no more than five dollars on in some cases twenty five cents will find out here today but these are cheap s CDs of bands that I'd never heard of and thought you know what for this price I'm willing to give it a shot. So every once in a great great wild, what I like to do is pull out a handful of.

The Mopar Hunter's Top 5 Of The Week

"What Mope aren't suzy. We are back again for another fun filled episode of talking Mo- Pars and I've got some good news my project. Art is finally getting an engine. Unfortunately it's not the fifty one that I had hoped for because that engine is still at the machine shop dead in the water for monetary reasons. But I'm so anxious to get behind the wheel of this dart that I've actually decided to hold off on the big box walk for now. I have most of the small block parts. Still with the exception of the engine and transmission. So I actually had a buddy reach out to me about the seventy one charger. I was looking at saying that he had a three eighteen and nine hundred four that he was just looking to give away so he generously donated that engine and transmission to the new cars. And the new. 'cause IS TO DART on the road before I go out acquiring any other projects I gotta get the ones. I have on the road with that being said. I've got a project right now with this little three eighteen and I'm just trying to dress it up a little bit and give it a little bit more go crazy. I just want to make it a little bit fun okay. The engine project that I have now is called project free eighteen because it is a three eighteen and free. So that's what I'm up to. I'm just gathering parts trying to find good deals and it's funny because I posted this cheesy ad was a wanted poster. Ernest said basically wanted small block. Par- parts you know. Cheap is good and free great and there was one guy who's like. Oh better. Get a small block Chevy. Nothing in the Mo- par world is cheap. But here's the thing he's wrong because I've gotten plenty of cool stuff for free or next to free or really cheap. Just based on the fact that I'm a nice guy and I guess I've been fortunate that I've ran into such cool people in the mobile world and unfortunately for that guy. Apparently he's run into a bunch of jerks that are just out for money which you know there are a lot of people like that and the Mo- park immunity unfortunately but you know thankfully I haven't run into any of them. I've ran into some really cool people and they've given me some really good deals so I'm not complaining on that front and I'm still getting the deals I just acquired an intake and a carb and I've got some really cool vintage valve covers and I'm just having fun with this car now. I've got everything I need to throw together and have a ratty little small blocked art and that's all I want. The shiniest parts on the start are going to be the wheels and tires because I have brand new bef. Gta's and Krieger SS for it. So you know it is what it is. I'm GonNa have fun with it and hopefully you guys will be along for the ride. I'm going to try to get some of that content up on Youtube here sooner rather than later so you guys can follow along on a little bit more of a visual level. So that's what I'm up to now. Let's get this show on the road. Like I said in the introduction folks we've got to listeners stories and I'm GonNa Sandwich our segment called high performance parts in between both stories justice which things so our first listener story comes from Shane. Taylor here. Is Shane Story? Hey Chris my dad has always had cool cars and trucks for much of my life. He's made a living off of hunting down deals and then flipping them. I'm now in my late twenties own a house and financially stable as a congratulations or as my dad says early inheritance. He said I could have any one of my choosing. I had the choice between fully restored. Nineteen seventy-nine Camaro RS s with a pretty radical three eighty three stroke or a fully restored Purple Nineteen fifty-six Plymouth Savoie or a dusty old red and black nineteen fifty five Plymouth Belvedere that didn't run and was missing the rear window which is apparently traded for a brick that sat in the backseat. I took the fifty six savoie because it was in the best condition and would need the least amount of work. It was perfect. Because I don't know a ton about working on cars but I love detailing although this is probably the most valuable car. It had a few drawbacks. The car was restored in the nineties and was overdue for another restoration in the near future. The interior was badly stain and fading. The paint was getting rest bubbles and there was a lot of custom work done that was very obviously trendy a couple decades ago but not anymore the worst part though it had a three fifty small block. Chevy. Don't get me wrong. My family was GM all the way. Unless there was a MO- part deal to be found. My Dad even warned me that when I took it I couldn't hang out with the Mo guys or else I'd be chastised. He said apart by the fifties chevrolets at shows and don't talk about the car more than need be after all. The car had no signs of make other than the aluminum. Plymouth play under the door when open so most people thought it was a chop fifty seven Chevy. Once I got it I started doing research on the forward. Look Mo- parts and I fell in love the more I looked at him. The more disappointed became with fifty six mash up with Chevy engine. Ford Rerun Nineteen Ninety. Eight Ford Escort Royal Plum. Paint which looked great. But I just can't stand forwards and Tacky customisations. I found myself eyeing the faded beaten up Belvedere that my dad had sitting in a shop. It had one around the title and had gone to his surviving kin. It was easily ninety percent original so I started drooling after I to educate myself on these classics after a week of having the Purple Plymouth. I called Dad and told him I made a mistake. I detailed the Savoie and send it back to him. Any happily gave me the bus at fifty five after all he had been offered up to ten thousand four and only paid fourteen hundred for the non running Belvedere. Although it wasn't a smart financial decision was the right thing to do and I couldn't be happier. We really to a local shop that specializes in classic. Mo- parts have the clutch rebuilt as well as some brake work done. Once I got a new six volt battery hooked up. It started and ran great. Save for some smoke. Every light on the car worked perfectly and the more I looked around through the scattered parts in the interior and trump the more original parts. I found for it now. There runs in drives learning and working on finding parts for these is a very expensive scavenger hunt. But it's fun to work on such a neat piece of history even though I live two hours from my dad. It's brought us closer together because I'm always sending in pictures of things. I've probably messed up and calling him for help. I look forward to restoring beauty overtime. The Right Way and going to car shows with him even if we can't park next to each other Shane. Thanks for sending in your story I've been wanting to do some forward look content and your story kind of inspired me to get Looking into what I want to cover an hi Wanna go about doing it. I actually have a guest lined up. That is pretty deep in the forward look community. But I haven't really scheduled him in yet so I gotta get a hold of him and figure out when we can get him on the show. Because like I said and like I've been saying this show is for all aren't disease that includes a forward look the modern era everything in between and I'm GONNA stick to my word. We will cover the antique stuff like the really really old stuff. We're going to cover the forward. Look we're going to cover it all or at least we're gonNA give it our best shot so look forward to that very cool story. I'm glad that you chose at least a MO- par over the Chevy. That makes you a lot cooler in my book and let me just say this. A car enthusiasts first and foremost but I am a Mo- par guy so I respect all cool cars but there's just something about Mo- parts that gets me going so when I take shots at Ford and Chevy guys you know nothing personal. It's all in good fun. Okay now back to Shane Story. It's good to hear that you're getting into Mo- pars and cars in general it's something fun to learn and you sound like you're really motivated to gear project on so that's really cool in. Hey a fifty. Five Belvedere is pretty cool in my book. So keep me posted on your project. Buddy thanks for sending in your story I really WanNa see pictures of this car and see how far you belong. Maybe you can call in and give me some tips to pass along the people because I get people asking me about forward look cars and where to find parts and all this and a lot of stuff you know. I try my best but I don't own a forward look cars. I'm not too deep in that world and I know there's people out there that own those cars and start finding really good resources and stuff so anybody out there actually not just. Shane knows any good places to go forward. Look stuff let me know if you know someone. That's really deep in the forward. Look each that's one aspect of mope our history that I admittedly don't know very much about but I love those cars. I think are really cool and I'll take. I'll take anything in the forward look era over fifty seven Chevy any day but that's me and that's not to say the fifty seven chevies aren't cool but hey forward look parts or cooler. Proven wrong Shane once again. Thank you for sending in your

"I'm here today with senior editor. Jeff Peres how're you doing? Jeff good how are you done very good actually having had an episode for a couple of weeks so there's some good stuff to talk about particularly because last week was the Chicago Auto. Show and I think you and I both know in any other year. The Chicago auto show would not be a big deal but they moved the Detroit auto show which is usually in January. They moved that to June this year. So I think the Chicago Auto. Show benefited from that. And there was some Interesting debuts or things happening around it we're gonNA talk about One vehicle that really. I think got a lot of attention in Chicago but before that we have another car. Debut in this week That by the time this episode airs will have debuted although it hasn't yet but we can talk about it because we know all about it. So why don't you tell us about that? One I yes so when we spoke to Toyota I guess last year when the super came out they told us that there would be no four-cylinder super in the US but apparently till he had allied because there is going to be four cylinder super they were very clear with us Won The super debut and I were. You wrote articles about it like no four-cylinder super. Yeah it's odd but I guess I don't know maybe it was the demand. Maybe they just felt like they could fill a little bit of space between the eighty six and the and the current six cylinder so and you've got the BMW Z. Four which is basically the same car that offers a four cylinder right exactly so yeah four cylinder super happening this week it'll be right before Daytona. Which is the super as inaugural NASCAR RACE? Which is I mean where I I didn't mean to go into a NASCAR DIVERSION. But it's kind of funny and crazy but there's GONNA be a super at Nascar. I can't wait to see how I mean. It has no relation whatsoever to the road. Car HAS NO NASCAR. Racecar does but it's still fun to see them. Put that car there instead of the camera which has been using but yes so the new four cylinder supra gets the same turbo to leader from the Z. Four which is you know. Bmw engine just like the inline six two hundred fifty five horsepower. Two hundred ninety five pound for you to torque eight speed automatic and I think the big lake deal with this is that it's two hundred pounds lighter than the inland six version. So two hundred pounds off Death a lot away. What would of the weight come down to thirty one? Eighty one is the exact number. It's right in between the eighty six and the six cylinder essentially I mean that's I mean they`re. They're kind of filling the white space between their vehicles right. I think you and I have already talked about this. With the rest of the motor. One editors that this car sounds awesome. IT WH-. It'll be lighter. It'll the handling will probably be sharper and it'll be cheaper. We we know it will be cheaper to some degree but we don't know to what degree right. Yeah that's the big question because the current super the twenty twenty model starts at forty nine nine. Which is I think. Pretty reasonable for that car With visa with visas right Now the V six is getting updated too so that will probably get a price hike So I don't know I'm thinking forty k. for the four cylinder which I think might be like. I think that's a little wishful thinking on your part. You actually want to buy it. Yes that that also. I think it's probably more likely whenever whatever you're trying to guess what the price of a car is that you actually want. It's probably safe to like you know. Take your guests. Add five thousand. Like I honestly think it'll be like forty three forty five. Maybe that's a tough sell. Though for that card forty-three they don't seem super interested in selling tens of thousands of them. I think it's kind of like like a mid level halo car so I I think that they they wanna make their money back and and BMW does too so it would be. It would be amazing if it started at thirty nine even model but what other. What other choices in the class are there? You can get a nice ego boost Mustang with the performance pack and the handling pack for. I don't know mid forties low forties and then you can get a turbo Camaro One L. E. for high thirties low forties. Early great cars both really great cars and I think those would be like the closest competitors. Then you could also look like the four cylinder f type and the came in which are also really close. I think the Super Probably GonNa fall somewhere in between there Lab just comparably. But I don't know that segments pretty good so the supers gotta be priced well and it's gotTa bring a lot to the table. Yeah I well let's Like I said it'll it will have debuted or the time has episode airs. But I'm not sure if they'll release the pricing at the same time so we may have to wait a little while for that but to me. Sounds like an awesome car. Just is all gonna come down to the cost a next. I want to move on to the other end of the spectrum the supercar and because for For our coverage of the Chicago auto show by far the most popular car we wrote about was the new Ford. Gt Liquid Carbon Edition. And I find that particularly interesting because the Ford. Gt has now been around a few years and Ford has even had a couple. Special editions of this is another one of those for the two thousand twenty model year. And I'm amazed at how much actually put into this. It's not just a different look for one thing. The obvious thing is its name liquid carbon edition the whole body is bare carbon-fiber and it's gorgeous. I mean yes bear. Carbon Fibre is pretty by itself. But they have masterfully. Put this together. If you look at the body panels. They have done all the work to make sure the carbon we've lines up everywhere and I believe someone someone asked for about the build process and it actually takes three weeks to put the liquid carbon edition. Gt together compared to one week for a regular Ford Gt so that that tells you just how much goes into the body alone but even for they could've stopped there and I think everyone would have been happy. Would've probably gotten as much attention. But for two thousand twenty. They have got more power out of the engine. It's up thirteen horse. Power to six hundred sixty The the engine has a new calibration. So the torque curve is broader there's upgraded Pistons and ignition coils in the engine. They did a couple minor arrow changes to the flying buttresses and the back to make improvements larger inner coolers a new exhaust. I mean they. They have made material upgrades to this car when they don't have to. It is a supremely limited edition car. There's only a very small few of the builds. Lots left for the whole thing that they're going to produce all time not just for this year but they went that far. I mean that's unusual right. It is and I think it's super cool like this is a very interesting take on a car. That's already pretty cool Just the exposed carbon fibre is is such an interesting detail that not a lot of companies do even though I I sort of have a mixed like a love hate relationship with it because to us and I think we talked about this a little bit with the Acura the EMC editions that they're building. Those are super cool right on the paper they're building these in the NSS factory hand building all of them. They're awesome from from a technical standpoint. But when you show this to the consumer do they care like I don't know if the carbon the bare carbon look is like a big thing with consumers I think partners at school for the Ford Gt. I don't think they're consumers so much there are others and I think that will probably I mean these will sit up collection and maybe be brought out and gawked at and driven around a track once in a while. I think a lot of companies. Don't attempt it because it is so hard to do. It's not just you know like we said they lined up the we've and and there's no paint to hide imperfections right so it's all right there and has to be done very painstakingly and end with an extremely high attention to detail so it works here. I think you're right though with the accurate with the PM. See additions like if you know what they are. They're cool but you would have no way of knowing just by looking at them. If a liquid carbon drove by you would instantly no like right. That's more than just a regular Jersey and I do appreciate that. Ford is like keeping it fresh rather than just sort of letting it die on the vine like a lot of companies do where they introduce a new supercar. And they're like here you go. Let's just let it roll for ten years. You know and not do anything interesting so I think that's cool from that standpoint

GT500 vs. The World

"We're going to start off this week with an article about the thirty five hundred and I want to throw it over to use Smith because you've been writing about the GT five hundred a lot for us. So what's the news. It all boils down to something that originated really way back in two thousand three two thousand four with ESPN Cobra it's comparisons with with the GP five hundred against cars that you normally expect and There's Jason Committee that did A really outstanding video where he drove the GT five five hundred against The hell cat which okay. That's that's a pretty apples to apples comparison but then they took it on to a track with the Ferrari twelve super fast and end. And this one. This is the one that got me the most the Porsche nine eleven. Gt Three IRS And to give a little background Jason Camellias a friend of the site. He's written frost or or he's A. He's a veteran and he makes great video. This is amazing video just a production quality as well as the fact he got these. This trio of of really supercars to bring together to go against the GT five hundred so tell us tell us how did against each one at absolutely. Yeah if you haven't seen the video We've got the the article article motor wound with a link to his video I mean in short the GT five hundred is punching way above its weight class. I above way above At well we we should. We should clarify that way. Above in terms of handling because the GT five hundred never had a problem going fast in a straight line And and for this comparison it beats the hell cat. Okay which it handily beat thou cat like by on links it handily beating. Yeah well and and Jason points out in the video you know when you're not at a prep drag strip service which really the hell cat and especially the demon. Those cars are designed to launch hard from prepped drag strip surface in the real world. It's a little different and that video really showcases that and they did did they did it in the video on an airstrip. That wasn't a service. I think I think the demon drives dragster would win. Yes I oh yeah I I still think it would wind and Pretty easily just the way. That car launches. I mean it's it. Set Up to launch out of the whole Just having the horsepower is neat but that car is is really set up to launch the. Gt five hundred though is set up to accelerate pretty hard and handle and with bet carbon-fiber track back package that makes all the difference in the world I kind of glossed over the Ferrari. They did line up the GT. Five hundred with the eight twelve super fast doesn't quite the hang with for the Ferrari the Ferrari was was able to lodge a little bit better and the Ferrari held the lead over the GD five hundred but the Porsche folks were talking hit about nine eleven. Gt Three RS on a track driven by a professional racing driver. The Times where I think less than two hence of a second apart. That's gene five hundred verses one of the best handling production cars in the world right now it was. It was a virtual tie. I mean gene. Kelly was they if they had done two more laps than I'm I'm sure they did. They could have eked out a scenario where the five hundred would have been ahead now. Does that mean the GT. Five hundred is just absolutely carving the heck out of corners. It's it's doing pretty well but I mean let's be honest. Gt five hundred has tremendous horsepower. Advantage manage over over the poorest the GTS and what you're seeing is the GT five hundred really taking the portion. The straights the poorest coming back back to the GT five hundred in the corners but the GT. Five hundred still has enough in the coroner's to balance it out over the track and that's something that we've we've never seen from Mustang before it's crazy but we also we also wrote about another head to head matchup between the five hundred and the corvette tell us about that and and you know I remember this one and I even talk about it in the article a little bit back when the sat kober about three or four. That's that was kind of the first time where people people said. Wow can this Mustang actually hang with a corvette of course back then Chevrolet a drop. The camaro there really wasn't anything else to match the Mustang up against and and back then it was. Sat Cobra Against Corvette zero six apples to apples. That was the ultimate evolution of both models. Right there this This this comparison. It's the new. Gt five hundred with the carbon fiber tract package against the currency eight corvette which is of course we. We know the stingray. It's the entry level corvettes ourselves the basis. That really apples is not really apples to apples. But according to motor trend with that track pack Jack the Mustang the five hundred quicker around track. They didn't say how much they didn't list any time. So you have anything to go on there but you know you talking about a mid engine supercar really now against a school for an engine car. Yeah it was strange that they were so vague about the specifics. In you know definitely the the lap times of the GT five hundred versus the corvette but any other details. They left out so I I don't know why they do that. Maybe they're saving saving for a video or or one of their TV shows but and it is an apples to apples. You're right this is the fastest Mustang versus the slowest corvette. And we'RE GONNA be getting corvettes that that I'm sure we'll eclipse. Gt five hundred at some point. And I gotta say I mean I think everybody knows I'm kind of a Mustang Fan but I'm a performance fan too. I took a little exception to that. A psycho cades AIDS. This isn't really an apples to apples. Comparison I WANNA see now. What zero six? The new zero six will do against the five hundred that I don't. I don't think that's going going to be a comparison at all. That's I mean just listening to that thing with the you know in the eight are seen the are yeah. That's I can't wait for
