How to Avoid Becoming a Meal for a Cheetah

"The cheetah is the rarest big cat in africa less than seven thousand adults remain on the planet think of it this way for every cheetah on the planet. There's more than four starbucks. Coffee shops the most important cheetah stronghold is in central namibia but the cheetahs. They're don't live within national parks. They live on privately. Owned farmland. Pharma's having huge problems with cheetahs losing a lot of stuck and there are other farmers who actually didn't have any problem at all ecologists you're melts heimer from the live knits institute for zoo and wildlife research in berlin assumed at first that all farmers had cheetah trouble. It was just that some were more likely to complain about it. But after tracking fifty collared cheetahs he began to suspect that there really was a pattern to their killing by the time his team had data from one hundred six cheetahs colored over the course of a decade. Not only was. He certain that cheetahs were more likely to kill in some places than others but that he could solve the problem. We indeed found. These communication hubs of cheetahs which spread evenly across the landscape with a high activity of cheetahs within the hubs cheetahs. Aren a social species but they still need to trade information. They don't meet physically typically not but they leave marks and prominent lent marks and whether they either use during fees to communicate with each other. Think of it as a coffee shop for cats where animals trade gossip even though these communication hubs only comprise around ten percent of the landscape cheetah. Spend most sometimes all of their time within them. These basically a long-term tradition which is passed on from cheetah generation to cheetah generation Some of these communication hubs basically no-no. Let's say the mocking location. Mocking trees were known by farmers. For sixty seventy years like the grandfather of current farmer already knew the mocking cheese in this area. What the farmers never realized is that only some farms overlap with the cheetahs communication hubs melts. Heimer thought that if those farmers relocated their most vulnerable herds. It could be a huge help. Here remembers the first farmer. He tried to convince and i told him. Look wilfred i have. I have the idea that they are actually there because of these mocking trees. And you happen to have your small shops accepting the same area. Let's try to move your herds out of this area and and keep them somewhere else and then let's measure the losses. And he was laughing at me said i can nice idea but i'm not sure whether it's going to work. They would probably follow the cast so we tried this. Actually it worked and he. He earned much money because he lost less cavs. After that thirty-five more farmers agreed to try it out in all the number of calves to cheat. Predation fell by a whopping eighty six percent. Of course some cattle outside of communication hubs were still lost. The cheetah's but it was at a low enough level that most farmers seem to tolerate it. What this means is that. Cheetahs aren't actively following the cattle. They simply take advantage of whatever food is available nearby. If it's not cattle then they go after. Wild ungulates springbok orix or coup. There are no so called problem. Cheetahs who intentionally seek out cattle instead there are problem areas. That's a much easier problem to solve. And it's one that doesn't result in farmers killing cheetahs melts. Heimer is now hard at work collecting tracking data from cheetahs in other parts of africa to see whether his findings hold up in other ecosystems so often it seems as if the goals of wildlife conservation are incompatible with the goals of commerce but this story reveals that infect biodiversity and agriculture can coexist allocates is really one of these nice example which can go hand in

"Woman, 1984. But this one Well, what they what they tried to do, in my opinion is kind of developed. The the first movie was like No, it's It's new. It's clear from this all action suspense. You really had to have a whole lot of time for character development. And so they tried to do it a little bit more. And the second one, which was which was okay. I mean, I liked it. I enjoy to feel like I walked in. And because here's my thing for a good movie. Did you go to the theater? Did you watch it on HBO? Max? What? To the theater? Okay, Because I don't need to. I need a big screen and I'm accident. All the other all that other stuff. And so I could tell how good a movie is about How many times I looked at my watch? Because if I look at my watch about our into it, it's like, OK, everybody gets one time. But then, like the second or third time was like, okay, I need to leave now. Pablo Pascal did find is the Maxwell Lord through the technically the bad guy who, by the way, is not modeled after Donald Trump. He's mild after a bad guy actually in the comic book. Now I thought Kristen wig was the bad. Well, there's kind of too bad people because Kristen Wig who played the character Cheetah Who was actually a pretty good like said overall, I thought the movie was fine. Um, would I pay full price? Wonder Woman 1984 movie review: Patty Jenkinss sincere sequel soars despite its flaws

"I'm so glad you can be here with us to talk about wonder woman. Nineteen eighty-four now. To set up the plot of this movie as best i understood. It wonder woman nineteen eighty-four revolves around magic rock. That grants wishes pedro. Pascal plays maxwell lord huckster who wants of course ultimate power over the universe. Kristen wig play nerdy anthropologist Who will later transform sort of. She's all that style into the frightening nemesis cheetah. And if you're wondering how. Chris pine is in this movie considering how wonder woman ended. Just do not worry about it because it will become a somewhat clear. Glenn we were all i think. Fans of the twenty seventeen wonder woman. What did you think of this. Well i think this is It's bright it's entertaining. It was frequently funny. Which i enjoyed. It can't help but lack the kind of simple story power narrative power of that twenty seventeen film because that was our first real glimpse of the character was an origin story and the villain was so unambiguously evil. The kaiser chemical weapons the god of war. What i like about this film. Is that the tone in the first half. Seems like a direct image to the nineteen seventy richard. Donner superman at some people. Have pointed out and i'm all for that but this had its own story to tell it does lose. Its way about halfway because that's when some pretty dark and muddy. cgi takes over. Which i couldn't really get over because this film has been sitting on the shelf for while had lots and lots of time. And the fact that the siege. I still look so weightless in this kind of surprise me and look the superhero film has been around for over half a century now and we still haven't learned it's important lesson which is that more is less one villains enough people if you know what you're doing pick one and stick with it. I mean these characters work when they're coming from a place of moral clarity and they're standing against someone of equal and opposite. You know immoral or amoral clarity. Now you can say the two villains who worked in batman returns because those villains if you're or call were the penguin and cat woman. They already had a cultural footprint. They were firmly planted in the wider culture. You just can't say the same thing about the cheetah and maxwell lord they just don't have that kind of i hate this word. Stickiness essential stickiness. I do have a theory. Why this movie was so light on. Big action set pieces. I think has to do with essential makeup of the character. I'll get to that later. But look all you gotta know is i grew up with lynda carter wonder woman and the super friends and something happened at the one hour and ten minute mark and assume that may be stand up off mme couch and

Don't miss unhinged starring russell crowe visit red box dot com for all the ways to watch. I don't know if you saw this over the weekend with your family. Things going on. But mike tyson and roy jones junior boxed. It ended in a draw tyson. Fifty four says he wants to go again. The least surprising thing about this fight is after the fight. Tyson said he smoked before the fight. Okay so j. So on that note what was your biggest takeaway from this night boxing. What fairly my small. He owns his own cannabis farms. Spencer so i will say this the most entertaining aspect of this fight. While i was watching the hospital was the fact that snoop dogg is the most entertaining person in sports. He should call every fight. Sorry max kellerman snoop dogg as a child can't lakers key. Snow saw good. But i didn't get a chance to watch. James men kind of brought me up to speed on it. But you just enlighten me. A smoke fight him snoop apparently that's what they do. But it's all right i guess. Dimension snoop is the biggest frontrunner in sports stop hanging around with a bunch of fifty year old dudes in the ring. You start hanging out with canal or somebody lied away snoop was like this is like watching of your old uncles fight at a barbecue. But let me ask you. Did you see. did you see anything that make you. Oh he used to be. I could tell he was that guy. I mean i know boxer. I know mike. Mike hits hard. You could tell that. Roy was taking hits but i mean there are both gasman. After the fight was over mike was like yeah okay. Withdrawal roy was like nah man. I got my tail work. I should loss that goes to show you how it was a fight a navy him but that wasn't really that's the basketball player. James johnson will speak for all basketball players moving forward by respect. The hell out of nate for going into that ring. Him undercard action. You might wanna know your role in. Said he wants to fight again. Hopefully they never comes to fruition. Okay jalen hurts getting first team reps at quarterback big tonight sea hawks and eagles. This is something. Jay has been on for a while. I think we all know how much wentz has been struggling with confidence. Mike tannenbaum the front office insider just mentioned here is current eagles head coach. Doug peterson former eagles quarterback. Doug peterson talking about his current quarterback. And you can kind of read between the lines here. Tough decisions have to be made in this in this business whether it's a tough decision to move on from a player in the offseason or the decision now to whether you're gonna make the move at quarterback or not i mean though these are all decisions that have to be made by me but for the most part i just I focus on the players. I focus on on getting better each day. You're not making right down to a different quarterback not today on wednesday now. Possibly per for monday focused right now. I'm getting better today. I mean. I i would say no. No no cartons are starting from monday. Yes all right key the more i mean it means what if all the money i know. Well he's look. I'm not starting tonight. I know now whether or not he plays. That's something totally different every team that i've ever been on our backup. Quarterback has always taken steps with the first team in the first unit. You gotta get him prepared just in case this is a big story because carson wentz has been you know less than stellar. That's a nice way and because of that jalen hurts who was drafted in second round get snaps it's newsworthy. That's just part of it i. I'm not surprised that he's taking snaps at all. There's going to be a small package because for whatever reason at package may give them the best chance to win tomorrow tonight. It made him the best but doesn't mean that he's taking sixty snaps during the game. That doesn't mean that at all. Just get prepared to see jalen hurts. Get a lot more snaps. Yeah he'll give a parent to see it and this reminds me of kiev. You're on these conversations. Somebody where somebody say. Hey what do you think about. So and so he said well. He's a really really nice person family yet. Will you fist the comic before you actually take insult to somebody right well. He's a really nice person. But i heard doug peterson do right. He's setting it up. He's giving you context. Hey look he is our quarterback for now until we play against the seahawks or until we play against the packers or until we play against the saints. Just look at death row. it's coming. it's a matter of time before we see jalen hurts. Were is pressure that'll be put on him carson wentz whether it's practice it's your apartment speaking and i need some favors when you're seeing in the shower. Just try going up key. You're trying to be an alto when really era soprano. Oh and if you could bundle your renters and car insurance with geico it's easy to do online and we could save money and then when you read your murder mysteries.

"That's something we're gonna see more teams do this week in terms of sign a player. Make sure they're in the right condition. Have them go. The means so at least they can function in a game. So you know kendall hilton while it was a great story on the one hand on the other hand. He had no chance to be successful because he didn't even have the rucks in terms of a through on a friday and saturday they just had to put him in there. So i think we're gonna see more teams do that over the next month. No that is correct. I was telling the guys here. I believe in. You could correct me because you were with me. I believe in ninety nine. We lost a couple of quarterbacks. Include vinny testaverde in the week of. I had to be the emergency quarterback. So i got a chance to see some things just in case i would have had to play at practice. I was a part of the situation where this kid didn't really get a chance to do that at all. Hey mike the titans dominate the colts. Derrick henry twenty seven carries one hundred seventy yards three touchdowns. Why isn't his name in the mvp conversation we're talking about. Patrick mahomes j willis should be. He was the best player on the field yesterday. And what tennessee can do is take it. Throw it over your head and you look at too big passes to aj brown as well as corey davis for thirty seven. Yards to corey davis. And what tennessee can do is they could really strategy out. Because tanno get the ball down the field. And then you let derrick henry go to work three touchdowns yesterday and the player that should be in the mvp. His discussion should be deforest. Buckner the colts give up double yards per carry when he's not on the field. So derrick henry was the best player on the field. Tannehill was a great compliment with deep passes and the colts cannot stop the run without deforest. Buckner wuss should we make of this. Jalen hurts taken rips with the i team key best players play and right now carson wentz remarkably surly with confidence. You know we go back a week ago to that. Pick six against cleveland that play to be exemplified withdrawn carson wentz. He lacks confidence earlier. In that play had a player wide. Open down the scene. He couldn't pull the trigger and maybe competition at practice will spark them. And i think tonight it's truly a watershed moment. He has to play better. He's on national tv. He's getting going against the terrible defense and seattle. This is a great opportunity for him. I think doug peterson is right. The best player should play. Mike what do you make of the whole raven situation. Well would you juxtaposed. What's going on with denver. I think they got it right. Which is the league is at least giving them a couple of days to see who tested positive. Who's going to be in quarantined now. Look one door. Closes lamar jackson's going to be out another door. Opens rg three. I'm sure in the back of rg threes. mind jay. Will he say himself. I deserve to be a starting quarterback in the nfl. And could you imagine if tomorrow night. With all these backups missing players like mark andrews and countless others. If rg three goes into pittsburgh against an undefeated team on comes out with wendy. Release the amount of money he can make and change the narrative of his career. That maybe he'd be a starter again so those are the storyline that i love about our game. And that's why. I think tomorrow it'll be really interesting. Let's get rg threes game. And let's see what happens mike. We had a chance to watch. Sunday night's football game which really wasn't sunday night's football game. I'm talking about the buccaneers in a kansas city chiefs. Because chicago bear game was not even close to sunday night. Football what are you what. What should we be concerned about in terms of buccaneer fans. What's really obvious. Unfortunately it's tom. Brady is really struggling the ball down the field right now. He's twenty six in the nfl when the ball travels twenty yards or more so if we know that we know opposing team's defensive coordinators know that they have to be able to get the ball to the running back and tight ends consistently in the running game. We know that's where tom brady. Excels and ronald jones. From of course key made a great play in the past game. They need to do more of that. That's where tom brady. Control in the middle of the field. Play action that's his game and right now defense still playing well. Despite what happened yesterday their third in the league in defensive efficiency they gotta get this past game rate because they're still in the thick of things they have seven wins and their ceilings far from over but they got to get that fixed quickly it can. Things is right this year. They're seven teams in each conference. That will make the playoffs right now. The bucks as mike mentioned with seven wins. Sit in the six spot. The schedule isn't particularly easy. Down the stretch mike. Thank you very much. Thanks mike all right. Thanks guys want to quickly mentioned. Mike said commissioner goodell threw it down. Folks it's november thirtieth. Go back to october thirteenth. This is goodell. this is in a memo to every team. This is why the broncos were in the position they were in warning teams. Games would not be rescheduled. If quote simply to avoid roster issues caused by injury or illness affecting multiple players even within a position group it took twelve weeks to get there but goodell said when we get there. "Arians and buyer left which just watching the game not being in the meeting room but also understanding an offense that i've seen in new england over the last twenty years in some of the concepts that they did in new. England has not transferred with brady tampa bay. It's something that tony romo said earlier this week and he said i'm listening to me i but he said what you said. Which is everything in. New england was just instinctual. I can just turn around. Close my eyes two and a half seconds. Put the ball up. No editorial is going to be there. And there's no way outside of gronkowski. He can have any sort of relationship like that but then he bucks player. Tony's one hundred percent right about that though you you could just i mean that's why when you think about players you think about guys moving from team to team it's it's people say. Why would he go there. Familiarity maybe not with the team or the system. I mean maybe not with the team or the organization but with the system. That's being run. Is i can go right now to a number of teams that i play for if those systems in place if i went to oakland right now after however long retired it's second nature. I'll pick it up like it's nothing. But if i go to tampa bay bucks i've never been in bruce arians system so it's gonna be foreign language to me. I'm gonna be like trying to figure it out. But if i go to new england if i go to where you know they'll systems you just plug me right in and make look ugly. It may look like that. Mike tyson fight nice at all. I would know where to be. I would know where i need to go. And i think tom brady. Struggling at that. Outside of gronkowski even the elder statesmen brady as young compared to mike tyson. We'll talk about tyson and his adventures weekend at six forty five. Last thing are the chiefs beatable. The right obviously the game but you know the right situation. You probably could catch him on a bad day but if you catch him on the wrong that you don't get run out to build it. I mean i don't know how you know. I sit up in a marvel at patrick mahomes. 'Wonder Woman 1984' will debut in theaters and on HBO Max this Christmas

"Woman. Nineteen eighty-four is going to go directly to hbo. Max on christmas day not going to cost money. It's going to be free to stream We talked about it. Obviously how this was gonna be a huge Say domino for the all. Those movies the blockbusters at everyone has saved up. And they they kinda hinted even hinted the rumored this for a little while too but this is obviously huge and warner brothers. I wouldn't want. I don't want to say they're fucking with other people's money but they definitely now set into event as a lot of other Stews are going to have to kind of follow suit in a sense. They don't have to but it's going to now at a lot more pressure on them to have to do that in just might also be their perspective on the the resolution code or least how far off they think any sort of major population return to movie theater might be right because Things are things are getting. Things are rough right now are going to continue to be roughly the winner and we get into springtime. You know there will be hopefully a vaccine released but then the logistics getting it out is going to be a thing to and so you know other people willing to theaters but again it's not it's not about who's willing to go to the theaters and not about some people. It's about like what you get. Points is a critical mass. Feel comfortable getting back. And yeah i think i think some of them were just doing the decision to say like you know either we pun on this now or we pun on it later and if we pun on it now we have more information about where to go with it. If we pun on it later we're kind of holding our cards still then I i don't know though. I still kinda see like for wonder woman in this. Is you know. maybe why don't work at a movie studio. Like i'm i'm happy releasing it on. Hbo max. because i wanna see it. I still don't see like i feel like if you held this feel still go see it right like give you this to september. Twenty twenty one. This is still major movie that people would be wanting to go back in and see. So there's there's other things at play that i'm probably not smart enough to figure out or just don't know but at the end of the day like we talked about last time just happy to get a new big big old big old movie. That's not long back on That can from my eyeballs. Yeah i think for us it's like it's bittersweet because we're consumers and we wanna see more content. We want more goddamn movies like we said thousand times over the last few weeks the same time. It's it bodes poorly for theaters which we love and wanna say so. It's it's it's tough to kind of reconcile those two desires. I guess but. I'm excited to see it regardless i mean that's a good christmas day gift and if a couple of other movies are releasing not couple of a lot of movies are releasing on christmas. This year Some excited to see it. You got a lot of content coming out in december. I think it's going to be good. I love the eighties vibe. I love the trailers for it. I accepted the exception of cheetah. But i think that's she's gonna look better once we see her in the actual movie. No no it's it's gonna be interesting to see how the every other studio kind of react to this now But it's good for each max and they're gonna drop the the the literal biggest blockbuster to be dropped during covert

The Obviously-Going-To-Die Stocks

"We're going to start with the stock of the day. Don't call it a comeback bed bath and beyond has been here for years. It's just all that time someone else was running the company but now that Mark Trittin has been in the Corner Office for about a year. We're seeing days like today second quarter profits came in exponentially higher than expected. Same store sales were positive for the first time in four years. The stock is up more than thirty percent this morning. I'm assuming at least part of what we're seeing with the stock is some shortsellers saying that's it. I. Think. I'm. Probably. Bed, bath, and congratulations to march written and Beth by best buy bed bath and beyond. For this quarter, March, written formerly of target, of course, and a few other places before that, I think Nordstrom's and I believe. He had a stint at Nike to could be misquoting. This bed bath and beyond is in a group of companies retailers that I like to call the obvious obviously going to die crowd. And the funny thing about companies that are obviously going to die when they get the right mix of management decision making and in some help from the environment and you know just a little bit of because no one's more aware of a company's struggles at least no one should be more aware of a company struggles then the people inside the company. And that's when you plan your strategy. What are our tools? How can we navigate our way through whatever we found ourselves in business is not easy and certainly for this group retailers that I'm Gonna I'm GONNA hold up. Bed Bath and beyond as one Chris. But you know how about Game Stop Game Stop. The seller of video game systems and Software that of course is going to be the next blockbuster. Right if they writing that headline since two thousand and nine, how `Bout Michael's the craft store everybody knows I. Y has an Amazon run over. And the granddaddy of all of these. Companies that are obviously going to fail. They're obviously going to be taken bricks and mortar is dead is best buy which just before the podcast we were talking about how? How many listeners? Realize, that best buy has been at ten bagger over the past decade they went through some struggles they brought in new management. WHO had a plan? and. I'm sure they were mocked and I'm sure people were skeptical and they executed on that plan and best buy, which was a sub twelve dollar stock in. Two Thousand Ten two thousand eleven is today roughly one hundred twenty dollars stock. And so when you see. I'm a kick myself a little bit on dust by iron best buy bed bath and beyond his too many bees. Bed Bath and beyond. I actually did a little bit of work about a year ago as I was discussing with one of our with one of our foolish coworkers. About this basket of Taylor's who are sure to die. And we had this one. We had game stop we have Michael on the docket and I went through you know what this company's history of cash flow was and what they've done with it and how they've raise capital, and this is before Mr Trenton came on but I. It laid the groundwork for someone with. A better vision to come in and knocked the ball out of the park which you've seen today and and best bed bath, and beyond is as we speak it's now a six th bagger since March of this year and so in the a roughly a year ago when I did my work because I was vigorously debating co I pointed out that in the previous six years here was bed bath and beyond had produced four point two, billion dollars in free cash flow. They had also issued one point five billion dollars in debt and debated smart about the debt because the debts. Basically staggered I think is a ten twenty and thirty years. and. They have to pay it back anytime soon, and they had gone on a massive buyback program. They've they've retired a ton of their shares. Now. Slowly melting ice cube no one's going to want to own this business what have you. But at the time the stock was about ten eleven dollars the company is training but four times enterprise value of free cash flow. that. That is rock bottom fools that is something that is going to go away. That's what the market is telling you. Flash, forward, to today and oh positive cops. Oh. We have a plant. They've they've suspended their dividend they've they've halted their. They've halted their. They suspended the dividend halted their share buyback plan I believe in. April. But with this. With this. report, they have generated a ton of cash flow. They've deployed it smartly they took down some temporary which they had out as part of the PARCO vid. They have bought back twenty percent of that long dated not in any danger to come calling debt they bought that back at a discount. Which is brilliant. They. So they're down to their down net debt down by about thirty percent from where they started the year. They have a store optimization program, which is something that a lot of these retailers the slowly melting ice cube crowd will call them. They are reducing their store count 'cause they don't need it because they can move to ECOMMERCE, which they've done a little bit they can move to. The geography is able he served by less stores and you see a lot of. Traffic that previously went through one store transitions to another and. They are steal a Ron grosses them here they are firing on all cylinders and I'm not sure. Anyone. Thought is coming. I am I am both thrilled that they are doing this they're having success because everyone loves a comeback. I'm less thrilled that you own it and I don't. But. That's mainly because I had this in my hand a year ago Chris and I'm holding it up. The skull of York. And and I'm looking at it and I didn't at least put a little field position because as I said, at the time training for four times free cash flow that is close to no-brainer territory for me. So two other quick data points before we go to our next story. Not. Surprisingly digital sales of big driver this quarter. That goes hand in hand with the store closures so Another smart move by Trittin and his team. And also Happy to see that they're you know suspending the dividend that they're. Suspending the sticking with the we're not going to buy back shares. I'm also happy to see they're not offering guidance. Their New Orleans. No need to at this point. Let's move on the third quarter sales, for Pepsi, grew five percent and. Kind of like we saw three months ago snacks and some of the beverages particularly the Seltzer. Part of their portfolio helping to make up for the fact that somebody restaurants are closed. So many sports and entertainment venues are closed and. That's that's the stock is basically flat and this kind of flat for all of twenty twenty but. Nice to see that the the salty snack part of the business is making up for the sort of the tried and true Pepsi part of the business. Gilead household particularly the soon to be sixteen year. Old Member of the Gillies household has been doing his part to. To to help with the salty snacks portion and shareholders. Thank him. Yeah I was GONNA? Say. You know dude. There are other food groups other than Doritos. Look it was a perfectly acceptable boring quarter from a perfectly acceptable boring company and and I think you know Chris but maybe some of the listeners not know. For, me to call a company perfectly boring from for me. That's a compliment because I like businesses that are boring. Not Terribly exciting person myself I enjoy. Investments in companies that just actually do what we expect them to do, and essentially just get it done quarter after quarter. Pepsi is not GonNa. You know if you'RE LOOKING FOR PEPSI TO BE A. Ten bagger. You know anytime soon like the aforementioned by we mentioned earlier. That's not gonNA happen. They are just a steady bedrock performer for your portfolio and we all need a few of those. So we can go after the more exciting things in our portfolio. Yes. So it was it was A. It was a boring it was a boring quarter but boring is nice because boring boring says, oh, we end up four four plus percent on. Organic revenue growth total revenue growth went up five plus percent. EPS Is up ten percent year-over-year just for the quarter. It's still down for year to date, but of course, Mindy Stan why because the previous quarter? Cova. no-one no-one was new what was going on? So we kind forgive that. They are they're pointing towards the full year. They did give guidance their point point to a full year of approximately four percent revenue growth approximately five fifty core earnings. Stocks at about one hundred, forty bucks. So it's not cheap. But it's not terribly expensive, and again, this is one of those widows and orphans stocks. You can buy put it away and we'll see you when you retire. Hugh Johnston, who's the CFO at Pepsi? Granular on CNBC this morning talking about because when you think about all of the food and beverages they have across their portfolio he got granular talking about the new cheetos macaroni and cheese saying you know they're trying to keep up with demand as a fan of both cheetahs and macaroni and cheese I haven't tried it yet but I can see why it's popular. Any. Do they give any color on the? Two. Portals that they were direct to consumer sites that they launched earlier this year snacks dot com and Pantry shop dot com. Sadly, Chris they did not at least in the conference call or the press the presser maybe in the ten Q I haven't read the ten q yet obviously but. Yeah no snacks dot com I can confirm both of those sites are open and accepting offers as of this moment. SNACKS DOT COM and Pantry shop I think is an interesting one because they are. You know you are buying your you're you're buying all of your Pepsi Slash quaker products. Simultaneously in in in the various groups. So if you want your everyday Pantry, you want to get your your oatmeal and your healthy. Your healthy Chia bars and your rice cakes do people still eat rice cakes and if so why? You can get all those delivered at the same time or your snack package your breakfast package You know it's it's interesting to to have it delivered. I I'M NOT A. I I'm one of the three people in North America is still doing own grocery shopping. So I'm probably target here but I know a lot about the people how to use it and I think probably if I let my as I mentioned a sixteen year old note that this thing existed. It might be his only source of nourishment. So yeah, don't don't. On, the first time I went to that website I kind of went crazy to the point where in the box showed up to two days later even my kids were just like. This is a lot of snacks and was like, yeah I may have ordered too many but but I regret nothing. Playboy. Enterprises is returning to the public markets after nearly a decade and because I was are out of fashion, playboy is going to be doing this through a speck. Mountain Crest acquisition is a current special purpose acquisition company that is going to be taking playboy public through a reverse merger and wants to deal is done that company where the ticker is MC. ABC? Is. The playboy name and the ticker symbol P L B Y? I guess I, I saw this story and I thought, okay I'd that's one way for playboy, which is a private company and has been since twenty eleven. I. Guess That's one way to raise money. I, I, I'm hard pressed though to think that. The second round of playboy being a public company is going to go any better for the company and for investors than it did the first time around. That was my initial take as well, and you say it's one way to raise money I'd say it's one way for insiders to cash out. Tomato Tomato. The more I think about this though. I could be spectacularly wrong and it wouldn't be the first time. This might be quite this might be interesting I can see. I can see a number of thing, and I just find this interesting from a number of re. I as you point out. Yes, playboy. Is private the SPEC the Special Purpose Acquisition Company Mountain Crest Acquisition, company. It's out there. Now it's got. It's a walking wallet got a bunch of cash their stocks over ten dollars specs go at ten bucks. There's nothing you can. You can go buy today Chris if you want. And You can just sit there and wait until the transaction is completed in q one. If. You WANNA own playboy. So, playboy today is not playboy of the past for thing, magazines have died. So, there are no issues of the iconic famous magazine. These no regularly published issues and I believe they went to quarterly publishing versus. Monthly publishing before that. So what playboy is trying to be or this new iteration trying to be a licensing company and they're calling it across four major categories they're saying sexual wellness, which I'm just going to skip to the next one, which is style and apparel which is. Apparel. and accessories for men and women globally gaming and lifestyle also digital gaming hospitality and spirits. So you can get yourself some playboy-branded Bourbon. And beauty and grooming, which is fragrance skin care grooming cosmetics for men and women. Okay. That sounds interesting. They're not a publishing company more avoiding that and I guess they have a bunch of online stuff as well which. Tell people they can go look on their spare time but. They are calling themselves a streamlined high growth business. The company has four hundred million in cash flow contract through the next eighteen years. and has products available for sale and in ten thousand major retail stores. In the US, this is a brandon company. Now, now, what you think of the brand and what you associate with the brand, the iconic a bunny ears brand, of course. Is Is. is going to be probably a nuanced and varied. I can understand why some people. Would not want to do with this brand I completely understand that is not. Bend the most shall we say progressive brand in history? It has fostered some. Attitudes, particularly women that. I think it's fair to say some would find distasteful and I I completely understand why? And for those people, they're just not going to be shareholders and that's that's fine. But what I find interesting about this if this, if the licensing deal and we have, we've already had a certain dry run of this in. Do you know the magazine Maxim? It was. So it's a men's lifestyle magazine, girly pictures, and whatever it was bought by an entity called big holdings. I'm going to say eight nine years ago. With the goal of they went into change it from the the lad magazine into more of a lifestyle brand licensing deal what playboys doing. Now. I mentioned earlier it's important to have You know leaders businesses, you respect and trust big lorry holdings is not one of those businesses but I do know that they even though they're circulation sales are down significantly there they have turned that profitable on a small scale with the licensing strategy. I suspect the playboy will do a better job. And It will depend on the valuation coming out but you know when analogy I might throw up as. As a comparison is. Franchising businesses in the in the restaurant space. So a restaurant brands international, which owns importance and Burger King. Dunkin brands, which of course owns your beloved Dunkin donuts. Those are those are check cashing businesses, they they sell the franchise to a Franchisee. And then take tax six percent of their gross sales and royalties every month plus x percent for advertising they sell you a system and so those are very asset light cash-rich capital Genita- businesses. And part of me wonders here it's obviously not the same as selling. Coffee and whatever. But part of me wonders if that is what this business will look like, and if they are truly in the growth business and the cash generation business, this might be an interesting opportunity. And you just hit on what I think is the most interesting thing to watch. Once it becomes a public entity again, the high growth aspect of this because now we're going to see Now, we're GONNA see through quarterly reports. Okay. Are you growing? Because that's one of those things where we investors and the market in general get to decide what we consider to be high growth And I again I had I had your initial take which was. Oh please. Like if it didn't work the first time. It's going to work less well this time. The more I read about like. I'M GONNA keep an eye on this. Curiosity. Jim Gillies always talking to you. Thanks for being here.

"Earth. We don't <Speech_Male> study at that much because <Speech_Male> it's very dangerous <Speech_Male> but here <Speech_Male> on earth some <Speech_Male> bacteria <Speech_Male> do produce phosphene <Speech_Male> in <Speech_Male> environments where there's <Speech_Male> oxygen. <Speech_Male> So one <Speech_Male> of the biochemical <Speech_Male> pathways that produces <Speech_Male> energy <Speech_Male> for life to <Speech_Male> live on one of the <Speech_Male> byproducts <Speech_Male> is phosphene. <Speech_Male> We don't know <Speech_Male> of <Speech_Male> any other way <Speech_Male> that Boston could be <Speech_Male> created on Venus. <Speech_Male> This <Speech_Male> doesn't <Speech_Male> mean that it can't be created <Speech_Male> on Venus there <Speech_Male> are things we don't understand <Speech_Male> about how Venus's <Speech_Male> atmosphere works. <Speech_Male> Obviously, we've <Speech_Male> never. been there <Speech_Male> we've only studied from afar. <Speech_Male> We know <Speech_Male> quite a bit <Speech_Male> about it like we're learning more <Speech_Male> about it every day <Speech_Male> we also don't <Speech_Male> know <Speech_Male> that like as <Speech_Male> much as we could about <Speech_Male> phosphene because <Speech_Male> it's not a fun thing <Speech_Male> to study <Speech_Male> in general <Speech_Male> the more dangerous <Speech_Male> chemical is the less <Speech_Male> it is studied because <Speech_Male> chemists <Speech_Male> want to live <Speech_Male> <hes> to to a <Speech_Male> ripe old age <Speech_Male> and you <Speech_Male> know almost every chemist <Speech_Male> no somebody who <Speech_Male> who didn't tore know <Speech_Male> somebody who somebody who <Speech_Male> didn't. So <Speech_Male> you be <Speech_Male> careful in the lab. <Speech_Male> So there are things <Speech_Male> we don't know about both of those things <Speech_Male> that and those <Speech_Male> two unknowns <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> along with the <Speech_Male> the. <Speech_Male> Claims requiring <Speech_Male> extraordinary <Speech_Male> evidence means that there's <Speech_Male> nobody out there saying <Speech_Male> that like we found <Speech_Male> life on Venus <Speech_Male> but we did find <Silence> a chemical <Speech_Male> that indicates <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> like we have both the <Speech_Male> both sides of the story <Speech_Male> now, where we've got like <Speech_Male> this space where life <Speech_Male> could certainly <Speech_Male> exist <Speech_Male> if it could evolve <Speech_Male> to be delivered <Speech_Male> in such an acidic <Speech_Male> environment and we <Speech_Male> also have this bio <Speech_Male> signature that we don't <Speech_Male> know how would be created <Speech_Male> without life <Speech_Male> and. <Speech_Male> That's <Speech_Male> really exciting and <Speech_Male> interesting. There is <Speech_Male> really only one <Speech_Male> way to figure <Speech_Male> out what's going on <Speech_Male> though, and that's to <Speech_Male> send a probe to Venus <Speech_Male> Scott Venus, <Speech_Male> some atmosphere. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> For us to look <Speech_Male> at, we've got <Speech_Male> a dead and Venus <Speech_Male> you open it <Speech_Male> up the foster gas <Speech_Male> comes out along with the <Silence> microbes and. <Speech_Male> Almost. <Speech_Male> Definitely they <Speech_Male> die instantly and we can <Speech_Male> study them, and then <Speech_Male> there's the sort of like <Speech_Male> you know point zero, zero, <Speech_Male> zero, one percent <Speech_Male> chance that it's like Oh. <Speech_Male> Wow I found a perfect <Speech_Male> home it's inside <Speech_Male> your brain <Speech_Male> matt turns <Speech_Male> out bad. So you gotta <Speech_Male> be really careful when you're doing <Speech_Male> that kind of thing because it's <Speech_Male> it's uncharted <Speech_Male> waters. <Speech_Male> We <Speech_Male> never studied microorganism <Speech_Male> from another planet <Speech_Male> before but boy do I <Speech_Male> want to or <Speech_Male> more correctly <Speech_Male> I want someone <SpeakerChange> some <Speech_Male> human to <Speech_Male> write this is somebody <Speech_Male> who knows more of what they're <Speech_Music_Male> doing. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> I this <Speech_Male> is very exciting <Speech_Male> to me, and <Speech_Male> I have to remind <Speech_Male> myself that <Speech_Male> sometimes <Speech_Male> <Advertisement> the things that I want <Speech_Male> to be true <Speech_Male> appear to be <Speech_Male> true because I <Speech_Male> want them to be true <Speech_Male> absolutely something. <Speech_Male> I, really admire about <Speech_Male> the scientific community <Speech_Male> is that when <Speech_Male> they want something to <Speech_Male> be true, they almost <Speech_Male> require more evidence <Speech_Male> because they're aware <Speech_Male> of how that bias <Speech_Male> works <hes> <Speech_Male> but the reason <Speech_Male> Hank I <Speech_Male> want there to be life on <Speech_Male> Venus. So so badly <Speech_Male> is <Speech_Male> that it might <Speech_Male> orient <Speech_Male> human interest <Speech_Male> away from <Speech_Male> Mars Justin <Speech_Male> till twenty <Speech_Male> twenty eight, <Speech_Male> which is when <Speech_Male> this podcast will <Speech_Male> be renamed dear, John <Speech_Music_Male> and Hank in the event that <Speech_Male> humans have made it to <Speech_Male> Mars. <Speech_Male> So I <Speech_Male> don't WanNa, make life <Speech_Male> on Venus about <Speech_Male> me but <Speech_Male> I think that this <Speech_Male> is a positive development <Speech_Male> for <Speech_Male> me. Yeah <Speech_Male> I mean it certainly <Speech_Male> does it does <Speech_Male> broaden our <Speech_Male> our planetary interest. <Speech_Male> <Advertisement> Yeah it's <Speech_Male> <Advertisement> so cool. Well, <Speech_Male> <Advertisement> Hang. Thank you for putting <Speech_Male> with me. Thank you for <Speech_Music_Male> putting with me

"Likely. Yes. Sins likely and so what I'm trying to remind myself of is that regardless of what happens and we don't know what's going to happen we will keep going for as long as we can as well as we can. That's my motto for our species. Okay let yes, and we have done a remarkable job of it so far maybe in some cases to remarkable, I was gonNA say like remarkably bad at times remarkably good and other times but above all extremely remarkable it. If there's one adjective you can apply to ours young she's it is remarkable. I will remark on NASA that is something one can remark on no doubt about it. Yeah I think we're definitely we may not be the best species that ever lived on earth but we are definitely the most remarkable. We're the most remarkable thing in the known universe. Yeah, like I feel. Like I could spend way more time remarking on humans than I could remarking on say Venus but we'll get to that at the end of the pod. Let's start out with some questions from our listeners including this first question from Steph who writes dear John and Hank my roommate and her rabbit floyd have auditioned and Ben cast in a rabbit agility competition petition TV show. We're pretty sure this is not a weird scam. Steph. Let me stop you right there. How sure are you? Yeah, I feel like you need to be very sure that this is not a scam. I used to be very sure that said while I think it is maybe a scam I also think I would watch the heck out of a rabbit agility competition TV show. Yeah. The plan is for my roommate and Floyd to fly to Los Angeles for a weekend sometime in the spring to shoot. So this question like all questions deep down is about the pandemic is Floyd's breakout role worth the risk. How do you plan? For and agree to something that so far in the future, we'll the virus be contained by the spring where in Canada. So we're pretty wary of the United States right now floyd is employed Steph. I might continue your level of wariness of the US on into the future potentially permanently I think floyd be. Okay. So let's just like car floyd out of the equation unless floyd can go by themselves which I don't know if. That's allowed. Can you just get on a plane I? Feel like the rabbit agility TV show is going to involve an owner but maybe not maybe not here's here's here's here's my honest answer I think being on reality. TV. Shows is a lot of work for usually very little screen time or other reward. That is that is definitely the case I think like the amount of pleasure and happiness and Fun Times that you get. Out of being on a TV show is usually pretty limited unless you're desperate to meet other people in the rabbit agility world in which case I, guess, maybe it could be a cool opportunity. Yeah. That's a great point. Two great points John of the first one being we should. I would like to see a survey of how people feel about their reality television show experiences, and at one time, this would be very difficult to do. Now. You can simply survey one, hundred, Americans and get thirty. and. They will tell you how they felt about it. Yeah. It's not even an exceptional experience anymore to be on reality TV it's something that appears to happen to just about everyone who hasn't been on wipe out at this point. Yeah. We've been watching a wipeout related show called cannonball and it has like twenty four contestants per week. Most of whom by the way are onscreen for like between six and a seconds. Yeah, and for this. Like jump into a freezing cold lake of water. It's always so cold. Is it always so cold I don't know these things in the summer. Well, they're trying to make a point. At. Any rate. Here's the deal. steph would hank and I do this show? No no, but are Hankins. Passionate experts in in rabbit agility also no now, and it may be the kind of community that is. And I don't know how what the the sort of like, what, how lucrative this is You know if the if the upside is what could it possibly be John in the thousands of dollars I would hope that you get a free flight free lodging and maybe like twelve hundred bucks and like a ton of carrots food. A year's supply of rabbits actually like carrots or is that just? Of course karat anyway it's this outlets don't listen don't listen to us. Oh all right. Let's move on this next question comes from me who asks a question that we received in many different forms, which is wild and terrifying help Mumia says they're currently wildfires where I live in Oregon that are spreading pretty quickly. We are in the level one evacuation zone meaning that we should be packing and have a plan. I don't know what to pack. What should I bring should I bring my great grandma's share some of my favorite books My stuffed shark from Iky at that I sleep with how many candles is too many candles to bring. Should I have had a list of things to bring before this even started not the Obama me this is why we are asked answering this question because we cannot is food too late I think probably to help me but is hopefully not too late to help other people make a list you gotta make a list. It's got it because this is a such a stressful situation if you have a little bit of time to leave. And you have a list then you can just check things off on the list and study after study after study after study shows that checklists work. Yeah and what they really show is that not having a checklist doesn't work. So you end up in situations where you very much thought you were going to bring in a specific thing with you and you did not. Bring that thing. Now, it's very hard to know exactly when you say like, okay what can we fit in the Subaru what are the things that that you both cannot replace and that you really do not want without and you know going going through that and spending time on it is the only way to make those decisions yet it's just such a hard thing and. We know so many people are going through this right now including friends of ours and we wish you all the best and it's it's scary. I don't know what else to say about it. Yeah. Even if you are not an current wildfires zone, there are lots of reasons that you might need to evacuate your home and so having some supplies on hand and left. Of what you want to bring with you is always a good idea hang sometimes, I think back to early in this podcast when you told me that you keep like a two week supply of water and food with you at all times and I split five what does the government recommends? It's not even it's not weird I laughed at you and you ever and now. Well How the turns have tabled..

2020 Fall Movie Preview

"Hi everybody I am Peter Travers and welcome to this special edition of Popcorn where creed you all the movies opening between Labor Day and New Year's Eve I know wait what aren't we in a pandemic Will really be moved this fall and theaters to show them in I mean the answer to both those questions is a huge. Yes. Sixty two percent of all US theaters are open now and there's going to be more to come covid permitting, of course, and those movies that can't make it to the multiplex will be available for rental or streaming in sickness and in health people, you can't keep a good movie down. So let's start with the blockbusters that are out there. Number one is tenant. Brain Teasing epoch from Dark Knight Director. Christopher. Nolan. That's geared to fire up the fall season and in theaters and with your mask and distancing in place you can strap in for this kind of Christopher Nolan throw ride and watch the spy master he's played by John David Washington give James Bond a run for his money you know you just have to. Get your head around the physics in this movie. Maybe don't know about how you can go forward and backwards in time at the same time I don't know either I was a little confused by that but you'll be glued to the visual miracles that are on screen here every cent of tenants two, hundred, million dollars production budget shows up onscreen Eisele popped. Jaw dropped pulses. Oh, pound all that good stuff movies and back baby. So what else do we have? We have Moulin which is out there right now and you'll check in Disney plus to watch this because it's not in theaters but you can rent it and you could see live action film of the Disney animated hit about a young woman who disguises. Herself as a man to replace her sick father in the Imperial Army the new moon is not musical and there's no comic relief from eating Murphy as the Voice of a fast talking dragon named Moo Shu. This is not that kind of movie. There's no whitewashing but using Western actors in the drawn from Chinese legend and as Rouland the astounding Lou ye. Leads in Asian cast that includes martial arts icon jet. Li is the emperor up and China's leading actress Gong Li as shape shifting witch who teaches on how to survive and prosper in a man's world. Look move on is not your typical princess. She's a warrior fighting for her place in the world prepare to be well. Next up wonder woman one, thousand, nine, hundred, eighty, four, the sequel to the two thousand seventeen smash that made a star of Gal. Gadot, remember her places the DC comics immortal wonder woman into the cold. War where she does battle with the media tycoon played by Pedro Pascal and the villainous Cheetah played by Kristen Wiig always to me an asset in any movie Chris. Pine also returns Steve Trevor The American. Pilot that one woman loves I know didn't he die the last time during World War? One people you gotta go with this this is Hollywood. So if we can borrow wonder woman's last sube truth for a moment, credibility isn't the issue here. It's the show stopping stunts engineered by returning director Petty Jenkins executed by Godot, and she's a formal Israeli military structure. So you know you're in for a really good time. "Cameras and bright flashing lights. The Cheetah is doing what it can to stop wrong way drivers is a new pilot program has been set up in the south End of the Dallas North tollway. Cameras detect wrong way drivers and lights flash to let them know you're going the wrong way again. They're often severely impaired, but difficulty becomes communicating with them getting them to notice. Remembering Chadwick Boseman, Best of 2020 MTV VMAs

"Welcome to daily pop. It was a difficult weekend here in Hollywood as we all learned about the tried to death of Chadwick both men are tribute to him is coming up last night he was honored at Vm as this year was definitely different but you know what? It was still one hell of a show. I truly never could have imagined that someday I would be given an award like this that honored me. For so many of my passions. Is Rough as been. There have been incredible moments of inspiration. We've seen heroes go above and beyond and with the black lives matter. Movement. We've. Seen our generation up. Hard to celebrate. So I'm going to say justice for Jacob Laken justice for Briana Taylor. Quiz. She looks good. By you by the way I was so skeptical of this via may because I? Feel like a lot of the vm as is all the little things that we catch like the jokes and like the artists, reactions to things but the performances in compromise chloe and Halle came through executed. So amazing. I. Was so impressed by them. Dolgin cat her first time performing on the stage killed. It for a first timer and Miley Cyrus I'm GonNa Bring. You guys on a train real quick. You know when you're older and you look back at all the moments that share and Madonna had and they look so different than it performed in different clothes and different looks and we thought it was legendary reliving through that with Miley Cyrus right now, she is a legend in the making. This woman, transform herself and transform herself and bring just her essence to this stage time and time. Again, she is an icon that's an extra Conrad there I appreciate it the throwback to the wrecking ball but changing it to a disco ball I was like I like this I think is good. Listen I miss the audience I missed the live in rations. This isn't how I want the show to be every year but I did thoroughly enjoy and I do think like in quarantine we were missing having a show like this something to look forward to see some live performances. So I think we're just grateful to get. Anything. I think they did the best that they could. I definitely do I think miley Cyrus looked amazing. I. tweeted that last night I disagree about the wrecking ball thing I was kind of like, okay like I want to see a different ending but she looked unbelievable there were a lot of really good performances Kiki. We all said this before the show she did an incredible job lawless Avi she really did she looked good I loved all outfit changes and I just think that they did the best that they could. So the show was entertaining but obviously, it's not. It's not what we're used to seeing. You know, of course, always miss the red carpet my it was still you know well done. There was no Napoli. Live. because. So much of it was prerecorded obviously throughout the week that there was no air. You know there was no room for awkward moments that really and you kind of love that about an award show right? You love those awkward mildly what's been Love that you'd be like there's nothing going wrong turn everything is going to be under control and. I would love that if I was hosting it but as a viewer, I, like this level up. But. Kiki back to give. A shout onto her stand an empty room. But pretend like you have an entire audience. Cheer you on is an. Insanely difficult and she brought the energy she made me feel like she was truly talking to a crowd which was one hundred. I would have done that job down and walk away from money very easily. But the thought of doing that without a crowd and holding everybody's attentions for two hours. You couldn't pay me to get on that stage. And she asked. Leslie for sure. Good job. Well, we have to talk about lady Gaga because literally. The night belonged to her, she crushed it serving up four different looks for her five acceptance speeches. She even had a different mask for each wardrobe change real quick. What did you guys think masks I thought I I. Didn't think she needed it for every outfit. I, appreciate it. It's. It's a stain the definitely a statement. It's definitely kind of it just in theme with WHO Lady Gaga is I feel like I realized after the Third Mask Oh, she's incorporating a mask and outfit but at first I was just like this lady Gaga Cheetah kind of goes forward in terms of fashion there's always that element of shock value. So I didn't even realize that she was trying to even go the route of wearing some sort of face covering our masks. So it just sort of worked but like I agree looking backwards like you didn't need one for every single outfit, but it works for her tattoos agreed. Okay. I disagree. I think you'RE GONNA make a statement and you're going to tell people to mask up and to serve your country in this way then you walk the walk and she did it I will say I love that Lady Gaga Connoisseur went from you know the meat wet dress wearing person all the way to the glamorous on who accepted that Oscar in that beautiful Valentino dress and to see her incorporate the outrageous with the classic Hollywood you saw that in each outfit looking at this unbelievable moment you. Dress you could've seen Oscar stage you could have saw the. Wearing that to the Golden Globes but she took it. She made it her own.

"k. cheetah" Discussed on The Bechdel Cast

"To that mindset which she sort of doesn't the movie as well. But yeah, I don't know I'm never going to two thousand girl power and partially because I deeply resented. The, tough thing to reckon with because you do again, want girls to have more power and do sort of to implant just the seed of the idea that like, hey, girls, you can be in Nyu math classes hand be good at stem, but it's also like how are you then going to use that? It's it's about what you do with the tools that you're giving and right now they're just like let's use these tools to help build the capitalist machine thing. What are you GonNa do with the buckets of Ducats once you've acquired the bucket dockets gallery, are you going to redistribute? Distribute the duck and the docket. The I mean like in the Song Cinderella I, think some of the lyrics are can slay my own dragons. I can dream my own dreams. My Knight in Shining Armor is me so I'm going to set me free. I don't WANNA be Blackson. Go. Way. Is so good. That's not a cheetah girls. Original bt Dubs Oh really another group I think it is some European group also recorded that song prior to the film, and then they repackaged it as a Cheetah. Girl Song for the movie cannot remember the name of the group. I thought that Gallery wrote Cinderella as she claims in the film I know. Yeah. Also, there was like, oh no, there's authorship issues that never buds well for a group. Does Not I get. The last thing. I. Wanted to talk about was gallery. We've alluded to this heavily. So baby I won't even be a very discussion, but Galleria and her mom Dorothea I am just now connecting Dorothea. Toto? Okay Jamie NOPE didn't make that connection either and they love the the wizard of Oz. There's the scene. Right before toto goes down into the hole, which maybe as Todos on version of ause who's to say where? Where Galleria. bummed because of the global get down thing is like well, maybe we'll just go home and watch your favorite movie and she's like the wizard of Oz can solve this I remember really liking that. Was My favorite movie when I was a kid but Dorothea, I used to be more like I feel like it's it's interesting I I want to. Give props to Deborah and I also want to give props to Alison on the way that this character is written in the movie because it like I. Feel like there's multiple reason on her when I saw her when I was a kid. I was definitely like, okay, this is like a parent who is going to be withholding from their kid who wants to do something cool like I've seen. Seen this character I, get it. But when you revisit this character as like we were saying, it's like, Oh, you totally understand why she's like she's protecting Galleria. That wasn't. She wasn't just say that she she meant it yet. I mean she was looking at this contract and Jaakko was like standard contracts. She crosses out several subsections of the contract looks at him and says standard revisions which, yes. Take 'cause she's like she's like a famous fashion designer. She would know all about this shit and she would be released like you know like really skeptical and she would know this whole world and get just I was very teamed or Thea on this watch really cares about her kid I also thought it was really bad ass that she was so mean to Jackal the second she met him like. Maybe a little bit too. But like she I, don't know I don't care. But like it was stupid. So aggressively mean and then gallery was like you don't know who Jacqueline Johnson is, and then she named five hundred facts about him. She's like, I, do know who he is I just. Yeah. She said I read I'm lucky. Yes, you do mom. You. Yeah. I I mean harkening back to like ours Ian on episode on the Matron where we had a big problem with the way the. Parents are treated in like her mother was this like hysterical woman who has to put on a stress helmet and then, but her dad is like the Cool Dad who? Gets her and like is chill relaxed and I think they're on the on the very surface. There is a similar dynamic here in that like you have a concerned mother and then a Chiller Dad. But I feel like it was handled way better here because you understand where the mother is coming from, she's not presented nearly as much as being this like hysterical like shrew mom who's like, no, like she's looking out for her. Her daughter, she knows stuff. She knows how music is recorded. She knows about contracts. She comes in very informed and She's also just like characterized beyond. We get to know more about her character that like conceptualizes why she so concerned for her daughter and like her daughters, friends and stuff. So I liked that I? Always get a little. I. Mean. There was a live a bit of cool debt daddy going on here. and. That was like come on, did it would be fun if we let her do the thing and but it, but I did appreciate that you get something you don't get, which is a little like look at what their relationship dynamic is. You get like a sweet moment with them that doesn't seem particularly aggressive to either character, and you almost like. So I was more lenient towards the way that result. Result, it wasn't just like Dad's, of course, as we know our way cooler than Moms, and that's why this is happening like you get a look at, she gets to speak her piece saying why she doesn't agree with it..

"Smell you later and by that I mean I'll smell how good you smell if you use native deodorant. Okay, by what happens when two therapists? PODCAST and then hold people accountable for their advice. Hey, I'm Lori gottlieb irate the deer therapist advice column for the Atlantic and I'm guy which I write the Guy Advice Column for Ted and with the hosts of a new podcast from IHEART radio called the therapist. One of the most frustrating things for us as advice columnists, is it afterward? No one gets to hear how the advice worked out. But on our show, you will be guide people through consultation and then have them come back and tell us what worked or didn't, and what we can learn from it. I was raised in a generation where men didn't show emotions. I am not good at words. But? Going through it has helped me grow in that sense I. think that for two years I'm his daughter, the six year old She hates me one minute and loved me ten minutes later. I don't WanNa lose sight of the negative feelings that cost her. I just hope that at some point you can forgive me if you'd like to walk into our podcast, email us with your dilemma at Lori and guy at iheartmedia dot com listen to therapist on apple costs the iheartradio APP over ever you get your podcasts. So I was starting to say before the break that I found some of the characterization to be a little weird and then with Galleria in Chanel getting more screen time I guess mostly makes sense because they were like the original founding member members that they would get. Maybe just a little bit more focus in real estate in the movie, which I think is generally true of the books and also I'm just like you know because raven it is kind of. A funny coinciding plot point that everyone in the Cheetah girls is annoyed that Galleria is the center and bigger than everyone else on the poster because that was also very true of this movie where like everyone knew who raven was, and there was maybe some head-scratching for the other three. If you didn't know three L. W. which I did not at all, I didn't learn of the existence of that group. I started reading about this movie. That's crazy because they have such a good song. Entire. His. List from his promises. It's their music is so cute because that was when they literally were like twelve or thirteen or something. Yeah. There's a line in there. It's like. Will you promise me Kate Spade, but that was last year baby in the eighth grade and I was just like oh my own personal. What young gentleman is promising an eighth grade girl, Kate? Spade, and why do I have the same taste in handbags as an eighth grade girl? About. that. Lurk. But yeah. It's like Adrian has maybe he has braces or something, but she has a little list and it's really it's really cute. But yeah, Raven was also very much the star of this movie I wasn't surprised that Galleria got a gigantic storyline as well. It's all about the dollars, but that I think this movie would actually benefited from being a series sort of Allah, the brand new baby sitters club series on Netflix because like the baby sitters club movie I thought was a Pale dive into the world of the Babysitters Club, another book series that are super into as a child and this new TV show that's happening is much better and gets into the interior. Lives. Lives of more of the characters and similar thing where each babysitter had their own books. Christie's big idea. Claudia means you mean all of that and I think that the Cheetah girls probably would have benefited from something similar could have seen aqua and hopefully angie at home watching horror movies wanting to be a doctor, which again in the nineties black girl, who's like clear about wanting to be a doctor that's actually huge and having that not be like a big thing where it's just like normal the she's like, yeah, I, WanNa be a doctor. It's like pre doc mick. Stephen's to show that made me cry the first time I watched it with my little sister. Why are you crying? Doctor and everyone says fine with it, and it's normal. And even the little detail, we duke it with awkward character that she's like a math genius apparently taking a college level. Class like that's also. Pretty revolutionary just see like a young black girl interested in math taking a an advanced math class like that's not something we saw offhandedly mentioned. She's. Absolutely can get to my very fancy glass. And another thing that I, think this I mean, just putting it in the context of two thousand and three because we've covered. So many movies that are in this like chunk of late ninety s into early to mid two thousands of Even like seeing in detail, the home life of a non white teen character is huge I mean it's You talked about it a lot and your bring it on episode. Where we didn't get to see any of ices like life at all outside of what torrents was exploring and what Torrance felt was relevant to her and yeah, seeing. Galleria. At home in seeing Chanel at home is still really cool especially because we get to see gallery as interracial parents and this intercultural thing where her father's an immigrant and speaks in Italian, he's like I don't understand that the slang a blink blink. Blink. Is adorable. relatable to anybody who's immigrant parents who are like wait? No. This is not what you said last week. I just. Who? Changing right. And also that it seems like gallery has mom is the breadwinner of the family and like she's she's i. think this is I also like watched the second cheetah girls maybe just simply because I wanted to, but she's like a fashion designer like famous fashion designer and that's why they have this huge apartment and I don't remember if we know what? Chanels, mom does I don't really remember. Rich Man I. Yeah. I was kind of I. Kind of forgot that being the huge element of chanels mom where I think it's cool to have like single parent representation that like rocks I was kind of that storyline for me was a little all over the place and I don't really remember I remember in the books that she took her mom's credit card, spend a ton of money and Chanel like was pretty well off. But I. But then she also resents her mom for being kind of like openly like I wanted a rich guy, and this is what I want. an her she kind of like is. is calling her a gold digger, but then also is in this very like kid like way like she doesn't like how her mom lives her life, but also directly benefits from it, and so it kind of ends up being an story element that exists I didn't really know what to make of of of that. I liked her mom. But then they're also retains where she was kind of neglecting Chanel, to go hang like, go hang out with rich guys and I didn't like that, and then when when their storyline resolves after that Arinda scene and Chanel comes back and she's like, actually you're an awesome mom. Like she's an awesome She's not a bad mom. She's like she feeds you, but she doesn't do other things that maybe could make her and even better mom link paying attention to Chanel and she wanted to tell her I hit the high c. with the Cheetah girls today, and she's like I have to go meet up with Luke by. Yes. She keeps getting bailed on by her mom, and then just kind of forgives her mom for doing that without her mom having to like do anything or change her behavior which seems like maybe kind of a lucky break for chanels, mom. Yeah. Yeah. So we've talked about the whitewashing of during this character and you know there's lots to be critical about there. But you know the fact that this movies cast is predominantly women and girls of color between Galleria and her mom Chanel and her mom aqua- drinker, and then also like as far as behind the scenes representation, the screenwriter is a black woman named Allison Taylor. The director is a black man named. Oz. Scott. A number of the producers are black women, Houston. So, many I. Love Doing Research on the writer of this movie..

"Yeah. I'm down. All right. The film opens on a performance by the Cheetah girls. They are a girl group comprised of galleria that's Raven Simone Chanel played by Adrian by lawn, and then I think her she go now goes by Houghton is her last name if I'm not mistaken. Aqua- is is her name. Keeley. Yes. Kiely Williams. About her There is I recently caught up because there was like, Cheetah. Girls Drama while we were in quarantine and I was clinging to it because I needed things to cling to. A tree in and key lead. I guess they did not get along and I don't know how much was related to Cheetah girls and how much was related to three L. W.. Together with other girl with that other girl, who why wasn't she in the Cheetah Girls? Any much rug shroud. and then the fourth member of the Cheetah, girls in the movie adaptation is. Played by Sabrina Bryan the owning yes. Yes. They discuss whether or not. They're ready for tomorrow's talent show audition at their magnet high school in New York. City ever heard of it, and they are hoping to be the first freshman to win because winning the talent show could open up some doors for them in their career. We learn that Chanel and gallery a started the group, just the two of them and they added the two other girls later on. This is relatively faithful to book. Canon. MINUS OKAY A fifth member. Correct. We see Gallery at home, we meet her parents and her dog toto whose presence in the story is going to pay off way more than you would ever imagine. A whole and that's the climax of the movie. And the the firemen sing faster. It's. It's going. Really earned his SAG card that day. Oh. Good grief. So we meet toto the dog. Then we see Chanel at home and we meet her mother and established their relationship. Both of these girls come from pretty upper class backgrounds and then we meet also faithful to the Buckeye while say. Okay. Good to know. Meanwhile, we see Arinda. She is mopping the floors at a community center. We will come to learn that she is a foster child and comes from lower socio economic background. And then we don't learn anything about aqua home life at all in quitting that she has a twin. Twin sister. At, home in the basement in this particular iteration of the Cheetah Girls Hanan. What if it's like in? What's the? Christopher Nolan movie. The Prestige, where like there's their secret twins and you don't know that they're twins and they just keep swapping out, we're really in the Christopher Nolan zone today or making money. Oh sure I'll bring up inception by the end. Sure. Oh, you didn't know that Christopher Nolan. Actually wrote and directed this film. The Cheetah girls they're experimenting with time. Okay. So then we see the Cheetah girls at school and we meet these two boys who are also competing in the talent show. I think their names are Derek and mackerel that sound is right. Right. One is the boy from Elliot, cats strike when I remember being thrilled by, and that's basically all you need to know about him. I will say I'm disappointed that Eric von Denton was not in this film because Eric Denton was the major export of Disney channel in the late nineties. Early, two thousands were trying to make Eric von debt and happen so much wasn't he wasn't his final stand in the princess diaries and then it was just like it's not going to happen for him that was. His last stand. I think that sounds like the right era for him to have faded away. I. Hope he's doing. Okay. Hi. Eric. Era Miss. You. We love you. So Listener. Yeah. He's our fan who isn't? He's a matron. and it's Derek has a crush on Galleria. Then they do their audition and we meet the teacher who is running the talent show. Her name is drinker played by Sandra Caldwell, and she tells them that they did a great job and so does Jackal Johnson, who is a big time music producer and he's got the outfit to prove it. Oh, he's learn chain. You look. So early two thousands like they sleazy, but also lake hot coated is hot, but looking at him, I'm just like there's no way anyone ever thought this was attractive baffling that he's coded as hot. Who is like? Oh, my God. Johnson I wrote in my notes Jackal. Wishes he was Matthew Lillard. Dog He. Ties that is it that hits the nail on the head. Definitely a big Matthew Vibes when Matthew Lillard is sick, they call this guy. To show up, that's why I will say just as an aside and I don't know how many of these are cannon like to the book, but they casually drop a lot of artist names in this movie and they all may be laughed there was. Monique. TWIG. Was a fun one. I. Think I caught Michelle Breeze. There was like electric breeze or luxury I was like is this Michele branch? So here's a funny fact about the books I. Recently, just because I hadn't I hadn't read them in a while and I can't find my copies. They are lost to the ages I got them from my local digital library. They have all of them with the Noah, public library system and. There is a group that's mentioned early on in the books called Karma's children. I'm like this is destiny's child. I go. Yeah. Gallery is talking about how everybody says, she looks like the lead singer of Karma, children backstabber, and they all have like sort of vaguely sin based name. So it's like greed and I'm just like who, which one of these is supposed to be Kelly Rowland and that's all I wanNA know and they're four of them which makes sense for the time that the book comes out because there were four people investing child at the time. Maybe it was predictive because destiny's child eventually just mysteriously did away with one of their members appeared. Faira. Whole thing there's a conspiracy here. Another thing about the book that I went to I like went to whatever the Amazon preview. Oh, I. Hope it's there. I vaguely remembered like the Cheetah girls packed. That was. Credo which you're and can read from. Oh. My homework. Thank you I always Virginia Girls Credo. This is from the first book I. Think it's at the beginning of all the bucks, but this is from wishing on a star. To earn my spots and rightful place in the world, I solemnly swear to honor and hold the Cheetah girls of Cheetah girls don't litter they glitter. I will help my family friends and other Cheetah girls whenever they need my love support or a really big. Hug. All Cheetah girls are created equal. But we are not alike, we come in different sizes, shapes and colors and hail from different cultures. I will not judge others by the color of their spots. But by their character, a true Cheetah, girl doesn't spend more time doing her hair than her homework hair extensions, maybe career extensions, but talent and skills will pay my bills. True. Cheetah. Girls can achieve without a wave or a wiggle jiggle or a giggle I, promise to rely mostly on my brain's heart and courage to reach my Cheetah delicious potential. I love most about halfway through talks about how grownups not always right. But there are big older and louder. I will treat my teachers, parents and people of authority with respect and expect them to do the same which I really appreciate. True Cheetah girls don't run with wolves hang with hyenas. Take much better. Friends. It's just I..

There was like a lot. There was actually a lot of timer in this episode. Because there's a lot of different things happening. It was like attract meet lots of timers going on so it's forty five minutes until jungle brunch. Don't don't Cynthia picks up eve and Eve is like Think I'm going into Labor but I really want an Enchilada so enchilada wins out Lada. She's like you know. I heard this restaurant might serve sauce out of wine glasses. I kinda check this out because it doesn't seem like something that should be happening so they talk a little bit about that but even like He asked the privy sherm out out going into Labor. Dropped a baby in your car. So yeah. So she's like as like trying to like hide the fact that she's having contractions but basically the next wants to. Waka moly man really but then she just like sitting on the floor. The bed in the restaurant like I'm having a baby. Yeah and candy. Candy comes. And she's like. Oh my goodness okay. Well I guess we should call Dr Jackie's so they faced Jackie evacuees like she's how many Senate okay that means. She's having contractions. Okay tell either to go to the hospital and he was like I don't want to go to the hospital. So Jack is like okay. I can talk you through how to deliver the baby. And he's like no no no no no no no no no no. I'm not delivering a baby okay. I gave her legs lunch Please tell me you're not having anything high in fat or high in cholesterol carbs because baby is the new hit and then tenure enters in the Bustani way ever. Oh just to the hostess for some frames to Juggle Party struggle things. Oh my God she is. She is Tammy I mean she. She is so like I at peak. Tanya this episode and like you said that was just the hostess and then when she finds that even going to hospitals because she just like her system overloads you know it was like a short circuit. And then someone had to reboot. Her from behind is like too much going on and then Cynthia decide Cynthia. It's like I'll take her to the hospital anything to get out of the stupid brunch. I'll go to the hospital. So they leave and either on their way out of. It's like we're not ready for the baby. We don't even have a nurse or he had last minute. Eva. That's okay I'll be there. The this is their third kid. Can't they they they at this point? Now just put together some. I don't know put a pillow on the floor and put a put some boxes around it. That's like a good makeshift crib. Right put a pillow on a plastic bag. Clear out an edible arrangements basket. Yeah you know but in old Amazon prime box. Jesus Jesus literally all emphasis was in within in a major k like cows. Eat Out of Amazon box. If it's good enough for my Salt Shakers. That's good enough for your baby. Yeah Yeah Great. So now so now says she leaves. And now it's time to focus more on this jungle. Well how confused because summed. It was called a jungle. Brunch sometimes called the jungle lunch. Some sometimes it's called Leopard launch. And sometimes it's called Leopard Brunch S- already a lot of branding issues. While by the time these people show up by the timeline shows up to her. Own Event is going to be juggled dinner. You know it's like she's so late she's two hours late her own stupid thing. I'm I'm not even going to. I'm not even going. I am honestly. I've just been waiting to unload about this this point but before we get to Nina being two and a half hours late we have ten candy. And they're sitting there. They basically sit there for so long and and after an hour of waiting. Kenya shows up. Kenya's one hour late right. She's just one hour late right so she gets there and Kenya's Super Frosty Tan. Yeah which is crazy to think that anyone could ever be frosty. Too Tanna but Kenya is of course and Kenya. Basically is wearing all white and then she only has like a little bit of print on her purse so she's trying to sneak around the dress code. Yeah and Kenya's like well. This is in. It took a lot for the invite me but she talked about me being big and fat. She said my child was the Buffalo. So I'm going to give her an opportunity to apologize and just won't even look at tenure at all like won't even give him the time of day and so- candies like well mice getting around the roles. Kenya's like whereas Nina Anyway and Kenny says she's laying Kennedy's Kenya's like I've gotta be places. I'm not waiting for her. Which never on Kenya's side but good for you. I'd be the fuck out of there to who does that exactly because Kenya only stayed for five minutes and then left because and it seems sort of obnoxious like getting mad at me for being late when you yourself were an hour late but I actually understand the warped mentality of that situation. Which is that okay. I showed up an hour late but you the hosts are still not here. So you have no idea for all you know. I could have been here on time. Which means that. Even though I just arrived you theoretically could have been disrespected. Me For the past hour when you're waiting for two and a half hours fucking so so like in a weird way. Even though Kenya was being disrespectful by show up an hour late. It's still not as bad as the a potential disrespect. The media was showing now so I totally supported ready respect. Well no I mean meeting that like when I say a potential meaning like had Kenya been there from the start. You mean yeah meaning is just so rude like it's her own rights people makes them come out and comes two and a half hours late. Chievo. Here's why I'm pissed about this okay. So knee Nash Waltzes in at Four Thirty PM okay poor candy and Tanya had been sitting there I mean. How much can they have at this point? I'm Tanya you can drive a lot of conversation but a certain point you know. They were just on their phones. Just chatting with producers. They probably weren't allowed to leave. They needed to shoot this scene. Or whatever there there and many waltzes in doesn't even apologize for being late. This is a woman who had a Tantrum last season when everyone was late to her To her natural hair party. Remember this woman who like. I'm mad at people being laid for that. I think the Savannah trip. I think it was but the point is this nanny. Niimi is I'd I'm just I'm sorry I'm getting so livid about this whole situation I can't even. I'm overloading Latina. Let me make it easy. Few Nina Nina Sucks. Okay and I don't know anybody's even bothering to shoot with her. I would have been out of there in twenty minutes and I would have been fuming after twenty so many comes and she got around her own rules and didn't even wear leopard little leopard purse. Yeah she did. Exactly what can you did? And that's obnoxious as candy. Says she's like rally. You're late and not in uniform and and candies like well. We're the only ones here. It's just oh no no. I have some friends there right over there. They're all in Leopard and it's all the twitter people you know how to meany criticize someone's events. Those are all twitter candies events and there's all these random people I think one of them we've met before there's woman. There named. Her name is spelled m. y. like monique but with a y. Instead OF AN O. For some reason but I think we've met her before I think she actually was on that Savannah trip. Wasn't she remembered that her boyfriend her husband went to the same school has meant to high school. Maybe they hooked up. Do you remember that lady? She left to rally impact on me. A real impact on me. So yeah. There's a bunch of Rambo's here we've never seen and candies like So you do this a lot mouth yes. I do have Brentford Entrepreneur. Women like me who want to rub shoulders with basically reality stars. You know whether. How else are these women's showing up to a shooting day? Yes he doesn't have any friends. Which is what we just learned everybody else's out of their exactly and so needs trying really really hard to push the sisterhood thing like. I just want to say that like you know the only people I want to be here. I don't care that. Kenya left after five minutes only people. I want to be here people who want Sisterhood Sisterhood. She's really trying to push sisterhood agenda. Which is if you want sisterhood. How about you show up on time when the sisters arrive okay. There's no sisterhood. If you write two and a half hours late you're lucky in this case because you hired all those ladies shop with you but like don't talk to me about sisterhood. And trump two and half hours late to launch. When I'm hungry now yeah. I associate updating the ladies on Cynthia and so we had to talk on. Marlo will do talk to Porsche. And she said she talked. You believe in fighter. And he's like why would she shocked because you called her a big fat ham or something with a ugly ugly monster. Baby I mean why do you think yeah you know Dini see again? The reason why she is like pushing this whole sitter had angle by the way is because now when she does extend the Quote Olive Branch is. She loves to say. I mean. It's the saying but she likes. She says that a lot now people deny her. Geez she can wrap it up in this Talk of a while. She's denying sisterhood. She doesn't want she doesn't care about sisterhood. It's just so I'm like I'm really triggered Ronnie while. She sex me we're GONNA do and mean he's like oh well she's not gonNA come to. She doesn't want any drama for me. Well I just saw in Canada she jumped up with some Hennessy. Ready to fight somebody like oh so the same thing that you were just old marlow. You were grateful for her doing Issue was protecting you. Yes okay and So she's about to start growing up off on porch a porsche. Because whenever someone has an event I extend myself and I show up no you. Don't you worry name showed up? Tomorrow's you were an asshole the whole time and then left you barely show up to your own event just now two hours late to your own event okay. This poor restaurant has had to block off that upstairs. The entire day waiting for this seem to be shot. I mean please. How disrespectful and the restaurants called no mass which is hilarious. It's no more Porsche. Surprisingly portion shows up with Shamir antennas.

"Right that's really all that matters I mean I if we go back to the Detroit game we could get I would've been okay was queuing up six hundred yards passing it means we win the game I'm located up three hundred yards rushing it means that we win the game so matter of doing what you need to do getting the stops when you need them in we're to win the game yet we're getting the turnovers would I'd like to see us get more absolutely right we're learning sacks I like to see more absolutely but it's coming along and like Chris Jones has had a tremendous due to the season he's starting his next Sack streak he's he's at three games to under four hopefully against Indianapolis this loved at continues this dominance gas going to take attention from the offensive line he's GonNA circuiting double teams which is going to open things up for Frank Clark to start getting in one on ones for just having to work against the tight end or if he and Chris Johnson getting double teamed didn't you got not you got okafor off Cape Ass who are going to be able to go to be gone up against one B once and that's always going to be something that we will have working in our favor are we going to be getting to the quarterback every single play no over the course of the game are we going to get to them yes because we're we have a rotation there and that rotation of the D. Line and just like with the running back by committee it's via bringing in those fresh players against those tired linemen yes and that's what eventually set up those key components late in the game games where they're they're driving for a game waiting for what they hope is going to be a game winning drive their own line is tired We got I is in there we get to the quarterback hopefully straws Strip Zach and completely turn the game around.

"Our Kansas City and we are back let's talk about Patrick Mahomes a little talk about this game this was lose a hard fought out game and I'm happy about the outcome passed from homes probably the worst game of here's the Kansas City chiefs still threw for three hundred yards made critical plays down the stretch and really still kept Kansas City in that game as well as all those defensive plays with the wacky third quarter look I feel like that he showed some poise there on Sunday with everything that was going on him having an off day I mean he was he's playing terrible get into his head just a little bit but to have the poise at the end of the game rally the troops bring another w to achieve kingdom was that's what we want that's what we want is a quarterback talk about that'll be Chris how'd you feel about passing homes this past Sunday because he really did pull off a remarkable comeback Hughes there when he showed a lot of poise and you know he threw for a just over fifty percent completion the percentage yards per pass attempt but like you're saying the poise really showed in the game in certain aspects you know the fourth and eight scramble showed his awareness decision making ability earlier on in the in the game I'm not sure the exact down but like the one where he pulled it down looked back at the referee and then took off for an additional twenty five yards inevitably horrible what's going on with that look back he was interviewed today interview he explained what was going on he was looking back to see if there was a penalty because if there was he didn't logo run for twenty fifth ers and then has come back and run another play if a you know it's not GonNa be worth it residency the flag he took off he knew exactly what it is doing you don't see whole of quarterbacks if any ever make that sort of decision he knew he had the time he knew he had he had the the angle to potentially just throw look back seat feels there then take off that that shows tremendous poison awareness on the field and game situation I feel like okay Patrick. Mahomes is like a superhero on the football field with his awareness his ability has known Bridge all around he just he's got what it takes it he's doing things you've never seen before you know game in and game out I mean this this kid aware of where we're all the the referees at all times I'm sure he knows them first last name you know this kid is just brilliant and it's fun to watch even when he has a bad day it's still a great day and she's Keenum we can still pull out a w against another undefeated teams like you know like we said before you know we played a lot of great teams this season and we fight uh some tremendous defenses I mean three three of the four or are perennially like top ten and or two cruelly tops in in Detroit is going to be a top ten defense this year I feel like a and you know other than being held to no touchdowns he's producing it's all three of those defenses and you know he's thrown for over three hundred yards against every team got we have played why look at historically I mean if we had two games of Alex Smith the castle where we have they threw for three hundred yards we would be ecstatic oh yeah for sure for sure we absolutely would we've been referring back to those generations of of quarterbacks just because I mean let's keep a real in Kansas City we didn't have a safety Eh ever at the quarterback position it was always a question mark even with Alex Smith Love and death but still you know he wasn't he's obviously not patch goes without nobody else in the world is and so look we also don't want to leave out Travis Kelsey Chow skill she was involved in some huge plays you know this past week and he's he's absolutely displaying the reliability that we need in Kansas City and might be getting a bit overlooked with you know all these huge play guys that we have and the ball being spread around the way it is but the man's always open you know he's only found the end zone one time in four games but just as he demonstrate on Sundays always involve engaging and and aged in the game and when he gets the ball he's going to make the play like it's definitely GonNa make a play even in that fourth down Dr you've got the ball to Kelsey and then he made that little sidestep and had the awareness to get out of bounds huge play that's that's traps l. c. all day long so I mean how can how can you not love somebody who understands the game of football most just as well as mahomes there's even played look I love the show to play where Chelsea was supposed to run like an out route might have been a fade you know like a seven step out but as soon as he saw he was standing in a hole he didn't move he just waiting for the ball he changed the route I saw the coverage himself and stood there and whole and let mahomes get the ball to him and that's incredible when you have players on all sides of the offense the understand the defense and how to manipulate routes and players like that's a godsend give it give Kelsey as Credit Chris what do you think what more can I say this guy is I mean he's going to be enshrined in the hall of fame at some point I mean let let's just throw that after now he's going to in the one eighty one B greatest tight end in case the football history and I mean as a franchise to have to tremendous talents like that in your repertoire in your history is amazing but you know longevity aside you have to look at his progression from any room for started when he first came into the League he was very erratic his he wasn't reliable because of his injuries that can't nagging at him and but due to that Those injuries he's learned how to play the game properly so that he doesn't take those big hits he doesn't take the risks that are gonNA put his body at heart but he's GonNa take the risk to get yards that we need he's GonNa run the right route is going to read the defense and he's going to how to get open for his quarterback and then you also throw in the fact that you have a quarterback who is as accurate as yeah and that's one thing that gets overlooked on a lot because we see the big arm but you don't take into consideration the accuracy yells he always we have one yard separation from his defender and if I remember the stat correctly he does that on eighty percent of his reps wow but that yeah see that that's the pinpoint accuracy of mahomes which is it is so incredibly on key it's almost scary yeah in the you WanNa say it was the Oakland Raider game last year in Oakland where MOMS throws it up and he goes over rose was that's why safety net I'll throw in that direction he is going to make the catch this and weekend especially this season he's been that guy we don't need for him to get the touchdowns yes I mean that as a franchise me me the first football player or a coach I own him I would love for him to begin touchdowns but give the catches yet the yards be consistent that production and keep us moving down the field those get those first downs so then we have another two or three downs to try to find that end zone if we I don't get it okay find Kelsey for another first down and we'll try to get right I feel Kelsey is kind of gone back to that classic traditional role you know the tight end position was before Tony Gonzalez came even though I mean also we're throwing the ball to him but you know we're utilizing receivers lot more that's because we finally have some in Kansas City and so you know and quarterback they can spread it around everybody so I don't think you know the this isn't a selfish football team and I think chows calcium content with his role and he'll he'll continue to have huge plays and the the ones in the biggest times because I don't know about you but I trust Kelsey more than anybody else on that team as far as you know quarterback too fever and you know a tough situation so we're move on obviously Damian Williams Back Shady McCoy is still battling that ankle injury but didn't really look to slow him down against Detroit so we'll go back to this right back by committee with Daryl Williams I really liked why saw Williams as well so it's yeah it's going to be there's going to be great with the Ryan back by committee I think we'll do all right with that so we're going to touch base on defense here and we've got a big game coming up against the colts our defenses something that we're going to have to tune in to be able to stop these guys but look the defenses perform you know well enough for us to be four now I'm not disappointed at all I think there's places that we could appro- obviously I would love for us to improve all around but I think is a unit eh for us just coming together this season I really enjoy what I'm seeing this is something that you know spags and and vh built Ns really awesome to see this product come together on the field and there's a long way to go but Kinda touch base on this Chris what do you think about our chiefs defense you know going into the upcoming weeks let's let's talk about that a little bit I cannot be won't be as apocalyptic as a lot of chiefs media has spent because like you touched on. We're doing what we need to do in order to win.

"Very many defenses that were gonna be facing that I'm really concerned me there's probably two games where there's potential for that the Packers Defense has really been a bit of a surprise this year they're definitely one that's on my radar as it's going to be a very tough thought game the other one that we talked about this in the pre- preseason was the Chicago bears their defense lose their stephen still playing tremendous if they can put together the offense to control the the clock as well it could potentially be another those game those are finding the light to where I think it could happen I'm not going to necessarily speak in a exact agent at say that it will or won't but there's definitely those two opportunities for it to happen I see I see and along with everyone else and chiefs kingdom. I want to say that will happen for the rest of the season either as an anomaly here in Kansas City is you know A. R. quarterback not to put up a touchdown in a game so here's our itself that was my Nola past you let me hear your no look past made this evening so now that we are four weeks in a quarter of the season is in the bucks what talk to you see as the biggest surprises across the league fuss art I would absolutely have to say buffalo buffalo would be you know might be right there at the top of my list there's t that are surprising me on both ends of the spectrum to be honest with you so yeah Buffalo I definitely want to say I think that Look Baltimore still tough Cleveland like there's there's a few of those bubble teams that seriously seriously make me nervous any of them can show up and do anything on any given day I know that's the NFL with these these group of teams you know that I just mentioned they're scary they're real scary and and I'm sure I'm leaving some really pay attention as much the FCC the things as I should but I am really shocked about those three teams what about you what what are your your teams that have really surprised you he doesn't touch on my AFC teams of so if it's cool with Yoga job on the NFC side though for my surprises there are the undefeated in San Francisco Forty niners yeah we we because we hold their second round pick in this coming draft we need for them to start losing some games so that we can have a very low second round pick but I mean in either case I mean like 'cause we don't really face again good for them to be able to put things together turn things around in that vision you've got the rams seahawks in San Fran all three with three Winston sees while Yancy that's a pretty active division right there and and you know the absolute sounds like the AFC West Ito here a few years back yeah absolutely and I think it'd be really interesting getting into divisional play which actually starts tomorrow right the seahawks facing off against each other that'd be a great game and then on the other team that billy has surprised me and we we just finished our game with them the Detroit lions their their offense is always going to be big play capability whereas all she has Trafford back there he's always had a big arm just hasn't always been able to really put it together to sustain throughout the season and really truly be competitive but their defense really truly impressed me they're down defense is what I feel has really kept them in games right right and look there's my thing about it is there's some core teams that can really scare you and mentioned all of those here in the last few sentences and and don't look over any of those teams Kansas City because these are these are some high profile aw potent teams that can really come out and do anything you know any given point and that's going to be great divisional game tomorrow night I for one will be in that game yeah that's GonNa be a fantastic game and dumping the for to be a very defense heavy I'll give both of these teams have the get defenses and could offenses it's GONNA turn out to be a very well-balanced game I think so as well I'm interested to see what side the ball's GonNa produce the plays because I feel like this is going to be a high swing game one way or the other earlier on child's making my football picks and I ended up seeing looks back at last season record for the two and the rams won both games but within one score of each other's thirty six thirty three one in thirty three thirty one and this is going to be a very close game and it will too but I'm still I'm still stuck you know as far as which way I think it's GonNa go I can't really I can't put my finger on okay is it going to be a great defensive aim or isn't going to be a shootout I just I don't know this is one of those games as a mystery and it's going to be a lot of fun to watch and see what they bring to the table and not to mention San Francisco like you said you know they're the next live the ad that the visual plane that's going to be great and I'm ready to get into some more divisional games here in Kansas City so let's talk about our injury update here obviously tyreek was limited in practice and Wednesday but was still practicing Kansas City he's working his way back from that shoulder injury we obviously don't want to rush into soon but I think that's a breath of fresh air for everyone here in Kansas City to know the tyreek Hill is back out on the field and in Pads Damien Williams was a full participant practice after missing the last two weeks with a knee contusion what does that mean for Kansas City Chris are are you sold on the Shady McCoy show or are you thinking the possibly daily Williams is still you know the answer here in Kansas City on shady I mean he's dead he as our backup he's been our best runner or throughout the entire season even while he's Inter but getting Damian Williams back into our rotation of running back by committee I think is going to be do nothing but wonders for the run game has he had a big explosive runs no I want to say he's got like a to something procure maybe a three yard per carry average that's not that impressive as a running back but you have to look at what he's doing is he's wearing down linemen two linebackers and he's making them have to play up so then when you bring in McCoy without change of of is back those linebackers tired they're worn down shady busted to the outside and he's coming in fresh they're warm down as the game progresses getting beaten down beaten down beaten down from running back we have in the game late on on there rush but looking back at the Detroit game that final drive everybody's wondering why isn't shady in the game because Williams the fresh back right and and that's one that's one of those things to look at McCoy John on the the injury list as well he's still trying to get past the ankle injury you mentioned a few moments ago but I'm with you on that one I feel like we have we keep fresh legs on the field all the time at are running back game that's going to break the game wide open for Leshan you know down down the stretch when you like you said a defense is war out so a little bit more on our injury report left tackle Eric Fisher is still not practicing as he can I used to rehab that Groin Surgery defensive end Alex okafor was limited participant with a hip injury pretty well where the he's just going to get through that I should have nothing nothing big linebacker during Daniel did not this was held out with a sore hamstring and so that's our that's our injury are injury update here quite quite a few big names on there none of them come to any is to us and I think that we're going to be going into this coming up this game and speaking of which look we made investment early on in season and we brought a player and and there's a lot of excitement here and chiefs came about this but the man had to sit out four weeks for for violating substance abuse policy so look the chief's new quarterback Moore's clayborn has been activated the suspension list after missing the first four games of the season there has not been a corresponding roster move as of yet but one should be forthcoming over the next couple of days what does that mean to Kansas City Chris is that something is going to be on helped various ward with some of the things are going wrong in that secondary yeah well we have probably one of the better quarterback since being greeted out over the course of the season brillant I think that bringing in clayborn if he's able to perform at the level that he did last year with the jets I think he's really going to help solidify that secondary especially given that we're going to have a veteran presence back there which I think a lot of our young cornerbacks need especially with uh-huh silly rookie mistakes and you know I'm not gonna say he's awful God you know move on easing I'm nowhere near that right now but that was one of the concerns that I had with starting hand him similarly on in the season when Swanson man and he started playing next next to the honey badger her kindness helped to secure things a little bit didn't fix things no but you didn't see those silly mistakes the touchdowns catches down we're allowed good throws good reps right by himself out in a plea the safety net back there he'll be able to actually do.

Z. opportunities to make this to make this change in how you play you haven't met that and you are no longer welcome here go playing the XFL it's just a matter of time it's just a matter of time so look we're going to move on here the giants beat the Redskins at home case keenum was benched in favor of Rookie Dwayne Haskins and to make a long story short about this game Dwayne Haskins pretty much ran around like a chicken his head cut off the entire game the chargers beat the offense thirty to ten the browns ran over the Ravens in Baltimore Forty two twenty five rounds running back Nick Chubb Russ for sixty four yards and three touchdowns that was kind of scary but you know something to think about here and she kingdom We play Baltimore which a tough game obviously they're a good team but they just lost the browns so we can't pass the browns the panthers on the road and defeated Houston Texans Sixteen to ten the buccaneers and the rams had a shootout on Sunday but the bucks one on the road fifty five to forty Bucks quarterback Jameis Winston threw for three hundred eighty five yards four touchdowns and one interception and found Chris Godwin for twelve receptions hundred seventy yards and two of his four touchdowns the Seahawks beat the cardinals twenty seven to ten on a side note the cardinals owner passed away today I'm not sure what his name is I didn't do my diligent research on this subject but when the cardinals came up I did remember a story job today so Hey My condolences are to the cardinals and their fans and the family members so the bears won against the Vikings home former Missouri tire quarterback chase Daniel's filled in for an injured trubisky and led the browns the bears to a sixteen to six win look always liked chase Daniel I don't know about you Chris what did you think of Chase Daniel looks fantastic you really got that bears offense moving in a way that trubisky has been able to yet this year and I mean you look at what she's Daniel did win he was with the cheese you know he was very competent quarterback when he was with us good backup and I think he's GonNa end up putting together a couple of games until trubisky comes back and unfortunately just because of the position that trubisky's in his position back but I think when we look at the production between the the two quarterbacks Daniels definitely GonNa have the much bigger output really touchy yeah and and Hey it's one of those things that chase Daniel really hasn't got the respect that he deserved I think he could be a starting quarterback in the league somewhere somebody would just give them a shot and this might be the shot for him I'm not really sure how long trubisky not going to last but it would sure be nice to see chase get his chance starting quarterback position looking at looking into that and the coach nate he was saying that trubisky is going to travel to London with the bears but Daniel is for sure GonNa be the starter but that's not to say that trubisky might not be available to the bears I think that they're position where we're GonNa let just let him sit and see what you can get out of Daniel Daniel can actually put together or bring this offense together Dan get them performance everybody expected them to the off season and there's a chance that trubisky could potentially be cocoa injured for a few more recent that was truly expected that might not be a bad thing for Chicago the Jags came back to beat the broncos in Denver Twenty it's a twenty four we obviously loved to to to hear that and so there was a knock knock joke that I saw online I posted anyways we're about to knock knock joke all right Chris I knock not ours that Owen Owen four Denver it goes so that's my knock knock joke for the day Denver broncos Oh and four at the bottom of the AFC west where they deserve to be so the saints handed the cowboys their first loss of the season at home in the Mercedes Benz Superdome Saints Defense held the boys down acton throw touchdown Zeke only managed thirty five yards on his eighteen carries which I'm sure killed a lot of fantasy football rosters this past weekend the dealers beat the Bengals at home on Monday night twenty seven to three it was I can't lie was nice to see the steelers finally get on get a win on the board there's that one in three again the Bengals Owen four I believe this is the ten th time in their history they've started Owen for and they've done it at least four or five times since the mid nineties so it's nothing new there for the Bengals so hey round the NFL segment and we're going to go ahead and move on this is the pass brought to you by Shawn Keogh.

"The best medical staffs in the NFL sure that doesn't come to any surprise anybody given our franchise and what's been going on but yeah we were in a good position right now we don't really need them to come back either them before they're ready and so like you said let's make it progressive bring them back in you know build them back up and you know let them be cheater let him take off so but that being said hey we're going to move on to our first statement here tonight this is around the NFL brought to you by pizza shop Platte city go grab yourself a butcherblock best meat lovers in Kansas City pizza shop Platte city proud sponsor Sir of Kingdom radio all right this is around the NFL brought to you by plasticity pizza shop go in there grab yourself butcherblock does meat lovers Kansas City okay so let's take off here on the around the NFL Eagles defeated the packers on the road thirty thirty four to twenty seven larger Super Devante Adams had a monster game hauling in ten receptions for one hundred eighty yards the left the game with a toe injury and wasn't all the field when Rodgers threw the game any interception on the packers final drive the titans defeated the Falcons on Sunday twenty four to ten Mariota showing a big with three first half touchdowns Chris go ahead and tell us about this patriots game let's go in depth here because this was more of a match up than anybody anticipated and I think the bill showed the Patriots something here last Sunday going into this game the bills and the Patriots were both going into it undefeated coming in three and the Patriots face toughest opponent of the season when they the bills in buffalo and it was a close real close to the end of as the buffalo bills quarterback Josh was forced to leave the game due to a shots at the head of the peaches held onto sixteen to ten win the Boho Steve was very surprising in this game you able to hold the patient's only sixteen points as well as Tom Brady who I think just about everybody in their mother would agree that he's the whole time at the moment to a ten point three QBR and a forty five point nine rating he threw eighteen completions out of thirty nine attempts which is less than fifty percent for a hundred and fifty yards a three point eight yards per attempt average no touchdowns and an interception wow that sounds like he had one of the worst games in his career well absolutely and when you compare that to Mahomes as so bad game against a good defense mojos through for over fifty percent completion rate he he had no doubts perceptions and for over three hundred yards on a bad day and see and that's the that's the thing to mahomes throws for three hundred yards on a bad day and it sounds like this patriots game possibly was one of the worst games that Tom Brady is ever been a part of it's nice to see him held in check at times absolutely and those things also look at his okay so you think that having throw from hundred and fifty yards earth the Russian game must've been off the chain the leading rusher for the Patriots Sunny Michelle only had sixty three yards you all told of all the running game together the only has seventy four yards renting and so this is truly was a defense of land a match between the two yes obviously sounds like that you know that's a that's a head knocker holding Brady to those type of numbers in my be a different scenario here down the road yeah the only reason why these won the game is because Josh Allen in throw in three or sections g three hundred and fifty three yards only thirteen completions but he Matt Castle overs our pin numbers the yet tyler the ten year right about that all right so let's talk about the raiders a little bit because the raiders beat the colts on the road thirty one to twenty four I think that big take out of this game mm-hmm and I personally think that sitting the entire season out as an enough for volunteers perfect but he got suspended again for another unsportsmanlike.

Reid has an extremely hard coach and I think that when tyreek is available for a game he'll see the field for a handful of plays working in Repsonse practices the next week and then that next game just increase the workload up until he's fully ready yes which would be the smart thing to do and you know the can see chiefs have one of.

"And then they haven't tiny waist, and then sort of big powerful hind legs, which which helped them run. So cheetahs are literally built for speed. Yeah. And there's also at obtains we can't see on the outside of their bodies. And in order to run that fast. You need a lot of oxygen. If you've ever gotten wind while running which I think we'll have you know, that not having enough oxygen really slows you down. I take it. That's not a problem. Cheetahs have like they're not like. So out of shape. Really should be running more Titas have smallish heads, but really big nostrils for taking an all that air. And then they have released large lungs and a large heart and big blood vessels to keep the blood pumping. And so all of these together mean that they're really really fast. So I get my Cheetos are better runners than us not that we just need to train more. In terms of evolution cheetahs have put all of their cards on speed for survival. So that means while cheetahs can be anyone who challenges them in a sprint. It also has some drawbacks. So they're good at reading fast. They're not super powerful lines to handle that space for the knows. Their jaws are small so they just they don't have the bite strength of other big cats. So they started sacrifice strength for speed. Okay. But who cares how strong you are when you can outrun everyone on earth. Well, it goes back to what an said the very beginning. So bow hunting it's about catching their prey and studies how cheetahs hunt the relationship between predators and prey, it's sort of been most fakes and intrinsic interaction between two species because it involves lights and death. Select the classic scene in the nature documentary. The wheel debased has escaped the lion's jaws this time and will live another day. Even though it's not like a friendly interaction. Like, hey, how about I eat you today, you feel about that anyhow this really reveals the relationships between species in a practical way that it helps you figure out like it's a number of of gazelles started to decline for some reason. What would that she does? So if you want to save the cheetah's, you really gotta make sure there's something left for them to eat. Exactly. And that's why an wants to figure out how cheetahs hunt does their super speed pay off when it comes to getting their next meal. And it turns out no one knows. There's just so much to discover about it and certain getting such a great place to do. You can actually see the Syrian Getty is the most famous wildlife preserve in Africa. It's an ideal cheetah hunting ground and also ideal Tita observing ground when you're a scientist, absolutely covered. Thousands of thousands of..
