Will the 2024 Republican Presidential Field Be Trump vs Everybody?

"No, I want to turn to The Washington Post column I have up this morning over at the landing page. Trump hovers, but the numbers of his likely rival grows. I divide would be 2024 people into three bags, ultra maga, maga light, and everybody else. And a few candidates like Ron DeSantis, Tom cotton, Mike Pompeo, Rick Scott, Tim Scott, Ted Cruz. They can do all three of those groups. What do you think about my general categories? Those are people like youngkin and Nikki Haley. And everybody else, Chris Christie, who's coming up next hour and Mike Pence and people like that. Fair enough tax hominy, taxonomy. I think it's a useful text on me. I kind of look at the erasers divided into two candidates or two groups. One is Trump than everybody. Everybody is. Yes, that's true. And so so much rise on what president Trump decides to do in 2024. I think he's leaning toward running at the moment, but that could change. If his president Trump, he likes to change his mind, I am provided. But I think it's important for the other candidates you mentioned here not to be deterred by the prospect of a Trump candidacy. If you really believe that this is your moment, the calling to call has arrived and that you can offer the country a successful presidency, you should run and you should be prepared to run against Donald Trump.

"You and I are adults We thought hey we're all responsible for our own actions right But there's only so many times Republicans can take the high road and Democrats can take the low road before the foil effect by kicks in I think outside of the real nut bags and moon bats on the left Nobody's listening to this anymore I mean this used to result in the past and boycotts and all this other stuff Did you notice how the pressure campaign just fell with a complete thud and their videos like oh yeah whatever Tucker Fox Levin bongino we all think again and everybody did We get it fine whatever Are you getting that too that this has just been so overdone that we're all kind of cooked on it and it just moved past it A 100% and that's the one that I think optimistic note to take away from these constant attacks from the left on conservatives in terms of character smears because I think in the past 5 years especially people have started to see the pattern and they've had it happen to them enough times that they eventually realized that these are not arguments being done in good faith These people don't care about racism sexism homophobia what have you They're just using it as a tool to try to silence the opposition And the reason they're talking about this replacement theory ban is because they don't want us to have a conversation about the fact that the Biden administration is doing nothing in terms of border security on the southern border They brought in Afghan refugees who have been accused of raping minors and beating their wives and so if you dare to talk about how we should be actually vetting the people who come into our country they're going to now lump you in with this crazed mass shooter who was a deranged leftist

Sgt. John Mattingly's Message to Officers in the Field

"That. family. We're talking to the author of 12 seconds in the dark, a police officer's firsthand account of Brianna Taylor raid from sergeant Mattingly you mentioned just now that you're just trying to do your job sergeant Mattingly. I just want to ask you one more question before I encourage everybody to read your book. I presume you retired or you've left the force right now. Tell me how did your colleagues who are still in the force, Friends you have in other jurisdictions. I mean, 'cause I'm a civilian, but I served in the British Army, but I've trained thousands, thousands and thousands of law enforcement officers across the country, local state, federal. And I just don't know how you guys go to work anymore. How you put on the badge, strap on the gun, and go to work when the mayor, the local commissioner, doesn't have your back and when you are prayed to political enemies that can ruin the life of your whole family, what is your message to those officers who are still in the bag? Well, it's tough because people say, man, would you do it again? And I say, yes, I would do my career again because I enjoyed it. I loved it. Would I start over now as a new guy doing it? Probably not for the simple fact that, like you said, there's just no support from upper command, especially if you're in a liberal city like lovo is and like all the main cities, you're already behind the 8 ball, just trying to do the right thing and to pull the laws that are on the book. So I would tell them we need you, we have to have you. You're the one holding the line. We appreciate you and I hope you continue to do it because we do need you as America. And that's the whole point in the book. It isn't about John. It isn't about just my situation. This is hopefully a wake-up call to America to say, hey, if we continue to travel down this path, if we keep going the direction we're going and chasing off all the good cops and prosecute in the ones who are just doing their jobs, you're going to get the bottom of the barrel. We're going to be what we were in Detroit in New Orleans in the 80s. And you're going to have corruption to the level you've never seen, and that's not what you want, and that's not what America

What Are the Driving Motives for Showing up to Polls This November?

"And then we were talking about Ed was talking about inflation being the driving motivating factor for people going to the polls, this November, and he said, what's the other factor, Mike? And I told him I think it's rampant crime. We're seeing stuff happen that was unimaginable in this country. Things are happening to this country that are unrecognizable. I told you the story about my apartment in New York City across the street is a Dwayne Reed, of course it's a pharmacy, drugstore, retail store. And they've had so much trouble with people, the smash and grabs, people think they can walk in with a garbage bag, clear the shelves of items and just stroll out of the store and nobody will stop them. So they had an NYPD officer stationed inside the Dwayne Reed. A police officer, an NYPD officer standing there and thank goodness because the smashing grabs stopped, well, the Democrat administration evidently decided that's not a good use of having a cop. That's not a good use of that resource, so they yank the police officer out of the Dwayne Reed. No more police presence. Guess what started up again? In fact, the doorman at my apartment building told me every single day the same guy goes into the Dwayne Reed with a garbage bag. Clears the items of the clears the shelves start walks out, reportedly, if anybody says anything to him, he says Black Lives Matter. And then the person kind of backs off and he walks away.

Why Is the Upcoming Arizona Senate Race So Important?

"Again, it's still just a mixed bag right now as we come through Arizona in the cinema race. Why does this Senate race important? This is a Senate. This is a flip. This is one in which you use. It's a Democrat state that is a vulnerable Democrat seat. They can be used to flip off of this 50 50 majority of the Democrats given the fact that they have the vice presidency. And that is one that you're going to see a lot of money poured into Arizona to try and from the democratic perspective to keep Mark Kelly going. Now, on the, but the Republicans are working very hard to make this not. Happen. It's going to be interesting now that with the latest polling that came out showing rambut in the lead here with over Le Mans and masters, how this negative endorsement from Donald Trump will play. We'll just have to see, as that

The Life Story of Brian Stelter

"This guy, Brian stelter, I understand that he's a pretty easy punching bag for anyone right of center or to the right, I guess liberals like him, I don't know. He's a peculiar little guy, the bald headed guy over on CNN. He follows the media for CNN. His story is a pretty interesting one. He started up, I forgot I always forget which side it was. Was it mediaite or TV news or maybe it was TV newser? He founded a media site like when he was a college kid. So he's always been this ambitious guy. And he wound up one of the stars of CNN. He's got a weekend show that covers the media and honest to goodness is capable of saying some of the stupidest things I've ever heard in my life. I would be so embarrassed, embarrassed, Yuri says it was TV newser that he found it. And I always recommend you go to TV news, he hasn't been with it for years now, but I always recommend if you want to see what the cable ratings look like. You want to see how bad Fox News is always beating CNN and MSNBC. You want to see the actual numbers TV newser has a ratings section

Chris Buskirk on '2000 Mules' and Its Impact on the Upcoming Midterms

"Chris Bosco, welcome back. And he thinks this is my living room. It's not my living room, it's my new TV studio, Chris. I love it. I haven't seen it before. It looks fantastic. Thank you, buddy. Okay, so much to discuss, especially with my old boss endorsing JD Vance at the weekend, but first things first. You haven't seen the movie, but if we have footage of mules, stuffing bags of ballots into Zuckerberg drop boxes, in states where ballot harvesting is illegal like Georgia. And this gets released now as a shrewd political observer, editor of this website. Do you think that can be swept under the rug? Or do you think that could have an impact in the midterms, Chris? I think it will have an impact in the midterms. You know how the progression of these things always goes is it didn't happen. It's a conspiracy theory. If it did happen, it was good. It's this whole thing that we're living out in real time right now. But I have actually seen some extended clips from the movie and some of the work that the nation has done and through the vote is done. It is, I think it is shocking. I mean, it's shocking in the sense of being appalling. And the video evidence, I think, is very, very strong. A lot of people are going to see this who kind of felt like something went wrong, but they couldn't quite put their finger on it. They just had that intuition that things didn't smell right. And they've got, they've got a lot of evidence in this movie that is very, very powerful. I think we'll have a big impact on the elections on the way people think about 2020. And yes, there will be a conspiracy of silence in the corporate media about this movie about the evidence it presents. But this is exactly the opportunity for prosecutor, maybe the attorney general in Georgia to do the right thing.

James O'Keefe: Project Veritas Is Going to Keep Going

"If this was a case about let's say The Daily Beast right That got a hold of Donald Trump Jr.'s diary or whatever And the diary had some explosive things in it which would reflect poorly on Donald Trump The Daily Beast would be celebrated worldwide and if the Donald Trump administration were still in office had Bill Barr get secret warrants against The Daily Beast This would be the water gate of our time Do you have any doubt about that But the fact that the political roles are reversed and they just don't like your journalism because you expose them all the time They're trying to sweep this thing under The Rock We can't let that happen Yeah I think they're like schoolyard bullies These are these federal prosecutors What the Ivy League schools they hide behind the bag They think they're a big tough man because they can rate a journalist home But what I found about these bullies they've been doing this team my whole life I mean this is not my first rodeo I'll be my last rodeo I was arrested in New Orleans all those U.S. attorneys resigned and disgraced and lost their law license for what they did to me and other people that they railroaded And then every lawsuit they filed against me they lose and we filed a loss against The New York Times and had a judge in the Supreme Court of New York rule against The New York Times So I think the most important thing Dan is to keep going and to be brave and to not back down when you're punched in the face by a schoolyard bully but to stand up we've done nothing illegal We don't break the law There's no evidence of any illegal behavior And to your point a diary since when do the feds investigate this I don't even like even It wasn't like a Cohen We did a hypersonic missile right Right it just it was an ugly story in that It made people look bad It was not a national security incident You didn't break it to anyone's house We didn't publish it

I have nothing in my <Speech_Male> pocket. <Silence> Cell phones in my man bag. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> Wallet, all my <Speech_Male> important stuff. <Speech_Male> I even got a little <Speech_Male> air chip just in case <Speech_Male> I fucking lose <Speech_Male> my purse. <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Male> But it's <Speech_Male> exciting, man. <Speech_Male> You women <Speech_Male> have <Speech_Male> known what's been going <Speech_Male> on for a long <Speech_Male> time with that purse. <Speech_Male> I'm on <Speech_Male> board. <Speech_Male> I'm going to keep it low <Speech_Male> key. I'm not going to get <Speech_Male> anything fancy, <Speech_Male> but I got my bag. <Speech_Male> I'm happy about <Speech_Male> it. And, <Speech_Male> you know, I didn't get <Speech_Male> any underwear for Christmas. <Speech_Male> <Silence> Although I did get house shoes. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> And they even have <Speech_Male> a little cut, so <Silence> you can just jump <Speech_Male> in <Speech_Male> and go and you can <Speech_Male> still be comfortable. <Speech_Male> Or you <Speech_Male> can pull it around your <Speech_Male> heel, be <Speech_Male> like a normal <Speech_Male> house shoe <Speech_Male> and wear a kind person. <Speech_Male> I don't know. <Speech_Male> I'm happy. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> I got my health. <Speech_Male> I got some <Silence> cool Christmas gifts. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> Even got some candy <Speech_Male> bars. I love it. <Speech_Male> It's good. <Speech_Male> It's healthy too for the <Speech_Male> most part. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> Neo, and after it's <Speech_Male> talked to you guys before, <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> having some family members <Speech_Male> die, the coronavirus <Speech_Male> and <Speech_Male> just being sick <Speech_Male> and old. <Speech_Male> Now I got myself <Speech_Male> thinking about my <Speech_Male> mom. I'm led <Silence> by Barry her. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> You know, in the next 20, <Speech_Male> 30 years, hopefully <Speech_Male> 40 years from now, that <Speech_Male> would make her roughly a hundred. <Speech_Male> Yeah, I mean, <Speech_Male> 110 <Speech_Male> 120 if she <Speech_Male> could live that long, that would <Speech_Male> be totally happy <Speech_Male> with that, but unfortunately <Speech_Male> I thought she whisked. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> I might have to start saving <Speech_Male> some money because I <Speech_Male> don't have no <Speech_Male> extra money in high <Speech_Male> fat. I guess go for him. He's <Speech_Male> a good tool for <Speech_Male> people, but shit. <Speech_Male> Maybe I should do <Speech_Male> a preemptive go from <Speech_Male> he was like, I'm gonna <Speech_Male> have to bury my mom <Speech_Male> in 20 years that I got <Speech_Male> no money, so <Speech_Male> would you <Speech_Male> donate <Speech_Male> for something in the <Speech_Male> future? "Lost more cala. Didn't have a bogey. On his last thirty one holes he made a great birdie down a hill on fourteen. And a great par. Save out of the schwartz and fifteen and at that point. It's it's over right amuse. See him make these two great plays and you say okay. It's done right by fifteen tony. He's like one hundred twenty four th ranked best putter on the pga tour hundreds and putting and he was number one last week he made fun nominal up and down. He made some phenomenal clutch pots. And you know tiger and all these guys have told me for years. It's not the birdies in the eagles. That keep you going and get you to the top of the leaderboard and make you stay there. It's the parsnips when he gets himself talking down from places where he shouldn't That's where tiger used to say he'd win tournaments. And if you watched yes more calibrates the great birds and he did not make a bogey for as many hoses those parcels. Tony thirty one holes. He did the same thing at harding park with the pga championship. And this time he did fans and it didn't have fans in san francisco so now he's done at both ways. You can't say there's nassar's there somewhere This was a legitimate phenomenal spectacular performance. By twenty four year old who has promise We haven't seen in quite some time you know. He's just done something that no one in the history of the sport as done in the modern era winning a major championship of first time he did at at a p j and now he did it again. No without done. No no i really. His putting was spectacular. His iron play is the in the world By far right now and He's proving it. He is as spectacular spectacular talent. And it's an over word used in sports but those those holes you talked about coming down the stretch. Yesterday he was great. I mean great. He was so great. Yesterday i agree with that and this question is it is the obvious the other obvious question in your mind could have one or should have one in your mind. Could've tullamore cal was the better player. I think jordan is quite h crisp enough. I don't think he's quite back to where he was. Now what he is the the interesting thing about more. i'm fast. I'm not a tv ratings. Guy i never have not talked about this before But i'm fascinated to see what the ratings are yesterday because of speed because he was the guy making the charge speak is our savvy by stares. He's exciting to watch. He hits the ball everywhere. He's talking to himself. He's all over the place. Bora cow is more of a machine. He just goes he just you know he never hits the ball off wide. He doesn't really you know say a lot. And he's stealth kind of assassin out. There wonderful kid. Very smart American you know. The american artists is gonna love him forever But speed is like you know exciting to watch man. He's over the place and with those two going at it yesterday. I'm curious to see what the audience was. Because i want to know if more 'akaola can carry audience if we have a star in the making in that regard or were the ratings is going to be high because of space and i think it'd be cool to see what that is and over the course of the next ten twenty years how great more callow becomes is. You know it'll be interesting to see if the audience kind of gravitates to him like they did to jordan. Speak speak speak didn't lose that open championship. more cattle out. I want it. That was that was i agree and we now have. Relatively speaking. young young americans would multiple majors. We have more power and speed and dustin. Johnson has multiple majors. Justin thomas shambo. Only have one kept has multiple majors. These are all these guys. I think are under thirty five. Or they'll dustin johnson may not be. I'm not certain about that. But that's the race to the top right in terms of american players. No question And winning your second one not easy. You know the only four year. It's such a big deal. You mentioned justin thomas. He's he has one and that came from four years ago. I under shambo has one one Him last year Jason day who's australian. He won one in two thousand fifteen. Everybody thought oh here. We go with jason. He's still stuck at one. These things are so hard to win. Because and i remember jack. Nicholas telling you this years and years ago. you don't find your game at majors. You bring your game two major so they only happened four times a year. If you're not playing well or your your your head's not right into a major year. Most likely not going to win one You know a couple of times here and there you find somebody winning one out of nowhere but for the most part you are playing really well leading up to the major so the timing has to be perfect and obviously you can't control that if your games there it's there it's not there it's not there and more calla is such a good player tony now. We don't have a major tapping show again until the masters april july. So you never know how someone's gonna play but waiting two in your first ever visit to those two majors. That's a first time ever. He's only twenty four years of age. He's the quickest win. Two majors Before anybody in just eight starts in major championships. He's won two of them. I mean this kid is well on his way if he stays motivated and stays healthy. This kid's got a lot of gain. Yeah thank you steve. We'll talk to you soon. We appreciate it as always thank you. Thank you thank you. We'll talk to you in tokyo heading there next weekend. Enjoy yourself well. Yeah we'll have that conversation steve. Santo girls We will take a break. We'll come back with email and jingle. I'm tony you're listening to the tony.

"Michael if people like jim basneid wanna send us their original music. How do they do send us your music. Emailing it to jingles at tony kornheiser show dot com. And once again you can listen to all of this in its entirety at the end of the show. Steve sands joins us. My only you know the obvious question for sans into the jumping off point is did more win it on sunday or did speak. Lose it on saturday but rather than ask that right off the bat. I'll ask the question interests me more. Which is you were doing. This from the royal hartford country club You know and it was started to be on at four in the morning. What time did you get up to go to work. What time did you go to bed to get up to go to work. What was your life like being. On the pre dawn telecast. I could've really used a heated toilet seat. Last week really really helped the week. royal stanford by the way let's not confused stanford royals hartford take slots different than royal stanford The alarm went off. You know anywhere between three fifteen and three forty five am I felt like. I should be walking jesse of waking up so early There's no way to simulate going to bed early. I can't go to bed at seven or eight o'clock at night. That's ridiculous So you know you just kinda. Did you think it wasn't it was. It was very bizarre to not be there. It was bizarre to be in. A studio was by far the best food and hotel accommodations. We've ever had ended up a championship Because you know over there. The hotels and the food aren't great but in stanford it was great and It was good to be with the team but it was very odd To have those kind of ours And not be site and feel the energy so but no boy. Everybody enjoyed the open. And hopefully we didn't make too many mistakes You know doing it that way. So this is the other. The other question is are you dependent on. Is it the feed that you would normally get or is it a feed from a british technicians. Are you behind by five or six seconds. Do you know what i mean. When you're calling it. what are you seeing. Explain that to people. So there's two things it's called the world seat World meaning the whole entire globe gets this one feet from the open championship Kinda like the olympics when we're going in a couple of days there's a worldview and then there's the nbc seed The nbc gulf chelsea. And we took the world feed because we weren't allowed to have all of our cameras all our technicians and all of our trucks and everybody over there so the pictures were a lot different than we would have had. And i've talked to you before you've met him. Tony moore who was a massive Show listener of a massive little here. His wife holly mccart both work on the nbc. Golf channel met them direct. He directed at last week and he directed it from stanford. And there's not a delay Per se but joe. And tommy roy had all the people in the truck in stamford had to i listen to the world fee people to see where they were going and then they would have to take that and then we would have to do it as announcers after being told where we're going so a little bit of a delay. As far as how fast we were moving along how many shots we sell how many people would show but they had you know. Joe in those guys are wonderful job. They just didn't have any control over. What the pictures were and you know for them. And that's what they do that's why they're so great And that's why the american always watching our product so much Whether it's cbs. Whether it's us it doesn't matter which week it's it's that they control it and they didn't get to control it because they had to take the world seat in the world feed does television a lot differently than what the american audience is used to so a little different But the delay was very very minimal. Which was amazing I don't know how that works technologically. But the guys did a great job. They did the best they could. And hopefully we'd never have to do it like this ever again. So the interesting thing if your viewer and you may not realize this if an if you're if you're in the united states of a baseball game and you're getting the feed from your local announcers you know you're going to go to a replay on that error. That's coming up in two seconds. Replay on that error. If you have the world feed on golf you can't say we're going to replay. We don't know you don't right steve. You don't know what they're gonna physically show and you might wanna make the point. Let's see it again and you may not have it again. The cotton candy correct we. We weren't always have what's called replay sequences. We'd have all kinds of things that we normally do that we were not allowed to do Because we weren't over there and also we didn't have the ability to because they don't do it that way they know much lower Back that's a bad. They just do it differently. They don't show all of the players who were involved. They don't show this sequence that sequence. And you know. I i think our guys did a great job doing the best. They could and not losing their minds but it had to be very difficult for them in a truck for us announcers calling you know like i told you. Last week i had four nine fourteen at seventy. And sometimes they would they would just show hypothetically show ricky fowler and you would know it whole it was because they hadn't said what noah's normally our guys would say fowler fourteen second shot and then you would have to go and say whatever you wanted to say it with this particular setup. Our guys didn't even know what whole they were on. Because sometimes they communicated sometimes they say what the player was who the player was and it was It was frustrating at times. for them But hopefully worked. It looked the same because we had our own. We put our own graphics in. We had our own music in We could go to break when we wanted to go to break But you know it was not not the same tony in and i think that the american audience probably could tell a little bit But you know hopefully not hopefully A great winter and it was a good week but now crazy crazy bad happened you are really everybody got through it okay and it was a competitive tournament every step of the way there was not one leader out there by seven shots it was always competitive and so it brought people in to watch and now i will get to. You know the number one question which is did more 'akaola win it on sunday. Which we know he did or did speak. Lose it on saturday in your mind which was more important. 'cause speed say in the interview afterwards he said know. Look what i said. It was the way you're finished yesterday. If i finish par parham in the final group. And then i've got a chance and that's what he said. So what is your answer to the question. I agree with jordan that he lost it on saturday that he did not give himself as much of a chance that he should have on sunday. Because of the way he finished bogey-bogey on seventeen and eighteen on saturday. however more cal won the championship. He was the best player all week. All four days and he absolutely grab the clara jug with one hand and then put his second hand on it on the back nine and went out and won it. I don't think anybody lost Yes shining louis stays in again had a chance to win Did not but if he would've played well would he have beaten tullamore cal i dunno column or cala was the best player over the four days and i know jordan is saying he didn't give himself as much of a chance as he would have had if he would've finished better on saturday For sunday running. Another claire chuck but column cal. One that just jon rahm won the us open. Nobody lost it. I'd be more callow one yesterday. I don't think anybody went out. Lost more cala. Didn't have a bogey. On his last thirty one holes he made a great birdie down a hill on fourteen. And a great.

"I understand did. He did not have the best round well. But it's a pattern the last two times. It's in with a chance to win. He's put a drive in the water laid. There's just no. There's no water at royal. St george's and i mean this is. This is now an obvious pattern. We all wish that he breaks the pattern. We always wins. But i would add on but i think there are some harshness that all of this carries that doesn't need to be visited necessarily And so i you know the more. Our i don't know maybe he wants to to right now. He's got as many as greg. Norman so famous thirty years ago. There's a lot who's lot guys i've seen and so i you know he was. It was it was. He was extraordinary to watch a understated way. And nothing's understated anymore. People used to stuff on thursday on the friday. Like i hate my driver. My driver's sucks people that are paying you millions of dollars and you have to. Everything has to be overstated. And so every time d. shambhu hits the ball and a rough. i'm ecstatic i wanna. I wanna throw a party. Every time he misses a putt. And i know my reaction is over the top. I get that. But we're compared to like this. He looked like just a the village idiot. That's a nicer word than the other two. You were going to talk to you later. I'll talk to you. Michael wilbon boys and girls will be back on. Pti together today. i have been off for a week. we'll take a break. Steve sands who Wasn't actually physically there but watched it with intent and intensity. We'll get the sands when we return. I say i'm currently looking at tickets for the upcoming natsios. Maybe i'll see the phillies in town soon. So you so everything's back on and so seatgeek is back in business. I think they never. "And so you got these great players out there and telling you and if you say who's the best team and basketball team with the best player is a team that is expected to win and because walking it failed twice in a row people's looked elsewhere. And you know it's the best team is probably miami. I'm sorry. I probably walking. But i you know i mean they cherry spot right now phoenix. Let's let me get you've been slamming boot and holds fianna awhile now as other people have. He's now one win away from a title. And there's twenty eight other coaches in a league. That would give anything to be one way. One win away from thailand. And say money wills you know. He's he's in there too bud. Were you were others. Have you been overly critical of boone holzer. Do you wanna walk back any of it. No no i was. at least i tried to justify. Criticism of people have to Probably the people doing this for not just our network networks. He's a. He's a hall of fame people now because people with multiple rings these guys who have coached and played at the highest level and they watch the gauge. You can watch them watch their games. You need to hear them. Say anything you can watch them. Watch the playoffs. Since may sixteenth twenty two when they began. And you watch it. And they will they look at milwaukee in agony sometime so no but there are things that he clearly bruno the does. Well prepare a team. You know overall way to get ready for a season series again but what happened in game is what others in the industry. Fine kinda indefensible is what they attack and so no. I'm not i'm not. You can't justify keeping bobby portis on the bench for three consecutive games late in the series as well if he's play. Here's a tony in his entire series. Who shot like fifty nine percents. Two-three three two two two one one one. He is back in chicago now. I don't know what to say. I was off a week. I'm going to have to say something on pti. Today i was wrong. I mean i appear to be wrong. I thought i thought phoenix was going to cruise. I've said so so it's not like i can back away from that and not only. Did milwaukee down to win the two at home which they have done a couple of series so far. They've come back but they just won the first road game. They're up three two two. That seems to me to be a real big deal. But i'm not following it nearly as closely as you are. What did you think. When they won in phoenix. Well it is a big deal. Tony i mean you could see when they won game to a milwaukee that they could win period because of the way they've started to play fairly consistent. They stopped doing the stupid stuff. Then let people to say you. People are stupid. They i mean it was. I don't know i've ever seen a team. There reached the finals attacked publicly by people in the basketball industry. As much as the milwaukee bucks and you know. My in my estimation they get and they. They've always done certain things well but then they would just stop doing that. It would just same done. We know he wasn't this way. Let's go be you know. We're we're sluggers where sunny lifted we. That's the only way we can beat and they would win a game that way or two games that way and then they would go and they would be ray leonard right and he just like what is going on and again. You're you're watching these games with hall of famers other people who have been much more successful than this group for living retired people. They'd be still active. And so they did this twice in milwaukee. Even though the the the sun they gave away a game tony and they may have given away a championship because in game. Four control the whole game. They control the game. They went up by lot at any point that they control the game and they did something that all year long people said accurately They don't beat themselves. You have to beat them. They don't beat themselves and they beat themselves. They committed seventeen turnovers Chris paul had five guy. Who is you know would have like consecutive games with no turnovers despite incredible defensive pressure whatever series is an and you know he's hurt He's not gonna talk about it. I have complete aberration. Chris for that. He's not going to talk about what is injury. And i don't even know what the specific thing but it's to hand And so you you got a big strong guy like jrue holiday. Taking wax turned the ball over and he was. The only one team has seventeen turtles and then lost the game by simply a basket and chat. I i don't know what you saw. The great defensive plays the compo- block it was tremendous clock. It's right up there with the lebron block. It's great forgot. Last year i knows that the bubblegum so that they play bam out of bio block of jason tatum thing in the cylinder last year. So you know yeah. It was from the bill. Russell archives play was so great. And that's that play decided essentially game four and essentially the one. They should have been up far enough to play. Was it necessary and then two nights ago. in a truly great games one of the great offensive performance an nba finals history. Each team shot like in the mid fifties percent wise. And how about this. The phoenix suns playing at home shot sixty five percent from three lost the game. Well one doesn't happen. Once booker booker had back to back forties and they lost. And so now you know. They face elimination If they relation. And i'm sure the odds are that they will lose. I think the suns will win game six. Actually do do okay. They're facing elimination for the first time in these playoffs there behind the tree a series of the first time they feel the lakers two one in the opening round And maybe maybe chris paul he's somehow he's so. Tony gathered himself and had twenty one at eleven with one turnover in game in game. Five twenty one eleven and they'll turn at one turnover. Can he rally himself like that again. Physically despite whatever this is i i don't i don't know if office let let let me get to him and i know you're close with him then. We all sort of understand that he doesn't have that many years left to win a championship. It's not like onto combo under the compost. Got ten years left to win a championship. He is well. But i'm just saying that. He's in terms in terms of the pressure to win a championship. When chris paul. And you'd never gotten there before this is your opportunity played great. He's played throughout the playoffs. If they lose what does that do to him. You know he agonized. I know how much he wants to win. I know how much you wants to before this season and coming close again you know what does it. What does it do. The louis used as it have. What do louise stays in now. Looks like a guy he would say he can't close. He can't win. All these seconds and thirds. It's not like jack nicklaus who had eighteen i. He's got one. I am the last three times we've seen him. He's gagged is that this wouldn't be gag right if somebody told you coming into the season that the phoenix suns nakhichevan good. And you didn't even accept that you're right no you're right and so it's the opportunity and it's up to yep yep had control of the series again yes you're the best player on the court. Is he honest obstacle. Okay the second best player on the court is i. It's it's probably devon booker but it could be middleton in that waiting on the irony to the united states. America's the booker at eight and middleton andrew holiday to kind of come and bail them out the olympics..

"Why are you on this on the golf channel. i told my close friends. I'd be caddying I didn't i didn't want to jinx anything or you know like Do anything that would you know run. Run my karma the wrong way by telling a bunch of people but my close friends. I was like yeah. Look look young channel Yeah ninety degree weather for seven days or whatever it was i did hit the hundred mile mark With my my apple watch so there's a lot of steps But i think the energy and just the excitement for me was kept me going just fine. You felt good. I was wearing my long black socks because my phillies. Just so i can have a little bit extra compression on my right side But it was. I would i would. I would have done it back to back again. i would. I would go out there and do thirty six again with her any day you i was it was it was just so enjoyable and watch to watch all that amazing play like every single girl. There in that tournament is so good When you talk about all these girls that weren't matchplay who are top one thousand players in the world and maybe that doesn't sound as impressive to people that don't really play and follow golf as closely as you know you and i and and some others but to be a top thousand in world amateur ranking of anything is absolutely incredible. And i mean do you. Are you mean it means you're the real deal essentially Street dow. I just think that years from now. Then when you're old you will have whatever you do. As a golfer you'll have this memory of having caddied in a usda event for the eventual winner. And what it michael. What did you say that that maybe in a couple of years she turns pro. What if she gives you a call and says doug john the bag i want you to be a professional caddy to do it or you. Don't do it a question. I've been asked many times. It's it's seriously something. I would have to very like sit down and consider because you know a bunch of people that know women's golf and you know the pga have have said to me like you know she is. She is going to be a top ten talent You know if if the trajectory says the same and you know no aberrations occur in her life she's gonna be winning. Lpga events regularly I would have. Yeah it'd be a it'd be a conversation have to seriously. Have you know my wife and my family. But i think there'll be one of those opportunities should it occur you know knock on wood That would be just one of those things where i might have to do. It might have to try it out. i think it'd be just an incredible experience at least for some time. And hey if if she's the real deal then it could be super fun much we. We're all so happy for you. I mean we just think it's great to have you on tv. Great that you on that bag in great that Thank you doug talk to you thank you everyone. Doug peterson in you. Know a small a small little parcel of fame to call his own through luck right. Michael was the last time you caddied. Oh it's been a few. It's been a few years but you have a you have a. Us shaven vent that went to a rain delay. And he's now part of one of the more memorable walk-off moments where where she sitting there hits the stiff. You hear doug talking her off of a club that would potentially bring more holes. You know we talked about getting into the other side of the tracks play. And he's sitting there with with the hal sutton moment going beat right and it bangs off the stick and it lands about eight feet away. It's elvis tournaments over right there. You know so. It was really really wonderful So we devoted the open to that. And i'm happy to have done that. Because i talked about the junior girls tournament for a while on the show. We will be back to doing at least three a week. Maybe more for the next month or so. We'll hopefully get in studio hopefully get into the wma studios soon. Which would be nice I took last week. The last we did the show a couple of times from rehoboth. We were out there. How did very celebration. Yes right my birthday is the same as the hammers birthday. He got all the balloons. I wasn't jealous cake. I got a cake. Elizabeth elizabeth made him a cake and made me accounts dinosaur k. I did not get a dinosaur cake. I also need to do this from brian. Hoyt we played the accordion version of the mail. Bag last week and brian didn't even give his wife's name and sheep by the accordion said. Thanks for playing my wife. Kelly victimhood song a second time for the second time. You rightfully called me an idiot. If you can read this and save me. I would appreciate it also plays with the northwest. Accordion airs orchestra. So thank you that. Thank you to brian for that Yeah i mean. I went out there. I watched some of it. It was and i've said this before. And i know michael felt the same way to see an and then on television to see the place where you play all the time on television and to hear all these lovely compliments from the people in the golf channel or peacock the day before talking about columbia country club was really it. It just looked great. It was you swell with pride that you don't expect to have right you don't expect and then you're looking at the coverage in your picking your like you know there's dr duke i see him. He's the medical and whitey sitting with henry the losure in a cart. Yes in the shade. Yes it just was. I remember the socialite telling me this last year one woodmen hosted the junior not junior. The women's am and he said you see your course on tv. Go out there and you go. Wow this is so great i. This is the second time for us. They had the boys junior in two thousand three eighteen years. Later at the centennial celebration of columbia hosting the united states open. They had this. I don't know if it'll happen again in my lifetime but it was. It was really cool right. I mean i don't know what else you can say. No and you look at the trajectory that you will expect to see for many of these players and we're watching the british open the open championship. And we see brian harman. Who won top of the leaderboard and keep going back and you go. This is what you can expect to see from from bailey who who was playing for a lot of history on her own and was just the most poised young woman if you listen to her straight intergrate smile. And yes with rosen. you get. She's gonna you get these small stories where she's having so the. Us jay gives the finalist lunch in between the morning in the afternoon round and she had the same chef who made her lunch at woodmen a year ago and has the same sam and broccoli lunch. Oh that's great. That's great so and you talked to her dad right ice so this quiet moment where i went out. I was watching the quarters so this is pretty early on the twelfth tea. Which is you're you're pretty far back away from the fairway and i sneak a photo. Not sure if i'm supposed to. I sneak a photo of doug with the us j. placard behind him and rose you know talking over line. You're looking at the white building in the distance. And i get a photo. And and this this man.

"Want to say that one but not not too much of that. She knows her game. So well that kind of like. I'm gonna hit a really hit x. And i'm like yep that's great no more confirmation and i really didn't do anything on the greens until the second round the round the shot sixty two in Until i essentially are eight whole she had she had made she had chipped in on fifteen which we started on eleven so She chipped in on fifteen made one great par-putt to save par on sixteen. Miss kind of a makeable birdie put on seventeen but not not one. That's not gonna make any time now. Eighteen she has her first. Real life. six footer for birdie And was the first instance that she said. You know what you see on this. Essentially and i was like all right. You know check mark. I'm in like here. We go let me let me see if i can help a little bit. And so he went over the breaking. I gave her what i thought was my line asked her if she liked dash did the hit it right in the middle of the cup and from then on it was just she's gonna make everything now She made you know six and a half foot on eighteen. She made another one on one. Another one two three missed one day. She could've made four five and you know by around eight under par looking at the course record So that was kind of really the day that we started to really confer and really really confirm every shot kind of put that she was looking at. Did she call you off. Ever the way that max scherzer calls off a catcher. Did you did. Did she ever do that or did you get the sense that from then on. She trusted you and wanted your advice so she is unbreakable inside five feet. And i would look at those parts but i would. I would never say anything. They were a couple of times that she would just say. Like i got it. I'll be like awesome. You do you have it. I know and i would just step away But anything outside of like you know maybe eight feet I never really got called off if you will. So luckily hopefully doug talking with. Doug peterson who caddied for roseanne. Who won the junior girls. And he mentioned the score of sixty two. I want to say that again. She shot a sixty two now. It's not it's not the official columbia course-record. She didn't do it from the tips and everybody understands that. It's a different set of teas that she plays. She essentially played the teas that i play. I get to sixty two on number eleven or twelve and then i continue playing sixty two. Doug is a remarkable remarkable score. Did you ever shoot sixty two and and you were really good player. Could you have shot sixty two from those tease or do you say to yourself. My god this are great player. So i will say that In a labor day event. Where i did play with mike I did shoot. And i quote this because it's an unofficial because she's sixty one from the white tees now that isn't a labor day event and a little kind of different circumstances because you know you're playing with three other guys and not everything really matters so you may not care as much and you might get some lucky. Like i'm gonna make ten footer. 'cause it doesn't matter Definitely a little less pressure than a. Us event right I don't think i could go out there. In those course conditions with that setup and and she was sixty two ever We watching rose play. You know. I've seen a lot of great golfers and a lot of good players but the level of consistency that she showed me and i think the field is just something. I've never seen before in person by anybody You know i went back through around And match playing and through about nine ish rounds on that course. She was twenty nine under par. She made four bogeys in the tournament. and i was talking with john meyers. Who's the who was the tournament director and we kind of like thinking about. Who was the next closest girl in the tournament and in my probably was barely davis about one or two under for the tournament So you can just see the gap in the the the level of play that she she shows and brings to competition is just is unparalleled at her age. So i was. I was walking on on saturday morning with marty west. The i walked fifteen. Sixteen seventeen eighteen stood with him And what he said mardi west the greatest of all time in the area. What he said was he hit. Her distance control was phenomenal. She was hidden to ten to twelve feet all the time. All the time wherever you want to be dug on the green she put it there. Did you have the same sense. That mardi did yes. She her mrs tomorrow. Point where twenty feet away from the pen and her normal shots were all inside all inside. Ten twelve feet You know again. I joked that she could not even joked. But she could have legitimately shots fifty nine on his round of sixty two. She missed three Three really makeable birdie putts early And she probably she probably missed three or four really makable putts every round and. i think that's just golf. You know you know if everyone made every everyone would be shooting in the sixty s At that level all the time but you know her her par- or her bad rounds were even par one under par. She's just her mrs. You're just so so small comparatively to even a a really good golfer or a good golfer and it was just it was just hold. It was incredible. So let's get to the really important things it's about ninety five degrees out there and everybody's shits and like an airedale and you have more time than i've ever seen in my life every time i tune on the thing there's doug hurson wiping his brow. He's taking off his sad. He's wearing his black socks. It good towel usage. He's guidance girl around. She's gonna win. It's phenomenal what was it like. I mean how many of you boys like texted you or called your said. What are you doing on television. This is fabulous. Yeah i got flurry of checks on saturday afternoon during the rain. Delay with pictures like screen shots from cell phones on tv. Like what what is going on like why..

"Previously on the tony kornheiser show the next morning peterson. the airport. You know everybody bleary eyed blah. He's looking at the london times. All these papers news thinking off sandy. Lyle you know. Uk guy wins the open that kind of thing front page of every paper peter's face wrong stop against some other literally. Yeah the tony kornheiser show is on. Now that's the voice of steve sands. He will be on to talk about colin more. Cala michael wilbon will be on later. Talk about colin more cala and the Nba playoff so. We're going to open the show. You've heard me talk all last week. And the week before about the columbia girls the columbia country club hosting the junior girls event. And and i went out there. I'll talk about me going out there at some point. But i'm watching on television and i am watching the best player in the tournament. The reigning united states women's amateur. Champion rose zhang. And i see somebody on the bag. And i go. What's this. i think i called. Mike says that doug is doug hurson on. Is that your fourball partners at doug hurson on the bag so doug who has been the champion club champion at columbia and who grew up. Basically there with with michael joins us. Now you're caddying you know in my mind. I don't think this is true. Maybe for juniors but you know golfers of a big time. Quality have their own caddies. Who travel with them now. You can't do that. I guess in the amador's will maybe you can. Maybe you can pay your catty and you can have the caddy with you. But how did you of all people to get to caddy for. How did you get the favourite and the ultimate winner. Roy zhong to put you on the bag. Yeah it was a who was a really lucky kind of circumstance there So as you said you can't caddy you can't have a parent caddy for you. In junior event so normally rose has her dad catty for so for instance she's going. She flew to france yesterday. Play in the evian masters in her dad will be on the bag for but junior events. You can't do that so i think. In the first couple of days Saturday and sunday. She had planned to pushcart per bag. But in ninety five hundred weather and super superheavy course. She quickly realized that she didn't want to do that. and peter farrell another member that you obviously know who is the chairman if you will for the the caddy program that was That they kinda had installed to make sure that we had enough volunteer caddies and club caddies caddy for the girls. Should they need them on saturday. They had about sixty five confirmed by the end of the day. They had the need for like eighty five more I was the practice. Cherish facility going practice practice facilities chair going into the tournament. So i taken the week off and and peter came up to me early in the week. early saturday and said hey you know i might need a under the caddy. Are you available for the week. And you and i said yeah sure. I'd love to for anybody so sunday. Afternoon walls around you know he texts me okay and he question like where are you. I was having lunch. Runs up to In the the ballroom or they were serving lunch for volunteers players. He says hey. Can you caddy. I've got a good player. Who roseanne is you know. I almost choked on my food You know hurt. She was like the number one player in the world. You know asking for a caddy and me possibly getting the opportunity to i was like of course of course i would caddy for her. No no questions asked can't wait okay. When was when was the last time you caddied for anyone. So that's another question. I had probably not caddied for anyone since you know my brief stint on the mini tours and in college But a normal thing that we would do when we would. We would go to tournaments. We would to drive down or something and if one of us made cut you know and one of us didn't wanna caddy for the other one vice versa So honestly probably that's like twenty twelve twenty thirteen where i truly caddy for anybody. So it's been quite a while. So i mean i i need to sort of set this up because it's important when you ask for a local caddy and columbia has tens of caddies dozens of caddies. You do that because you you anticipate that they will know the course and tell you how to play a given whole is tremendously high stakes here. This is the junior girls championship. The story you just show up. Keep up right right. You got a really good at this. You're you're like a catch. You're talking to a pitcher. It's important that there's trust. I heard a story that she had no idea. Not only that you golf at all but that you were the club champion multiple times. I heard she didn't know that is that true. Did you not tell her that. So i i went in saying absolutely nothing I didn't want to presume or or you know kind of you know. Put myself out. There is like hey you know. I know how to play golf so let me help you. She's a number one player in the world. Not just girls. She's like a number one amador in the world of all women that are not professional. So i'm not going to go out there and be like hey. I've won this club championship a couple of times and i've got some good scores out here but You know it i. I went in there. And knowing i was gonna essentially slow play my caddie experience until she feels like she needs either advice or or shows me that you know maybe she is willing to take some advice So we kinda started off with. Just you know yardages wind slope elevation etc. Whatever you wanna call it And then that's kind of progressed to you know helping maybe club You know maybe maybe she hit that..
