"What I wanted to say was, you know, despite advancing the president, saying, Follow the science Follow the facts. All right. Well, let's follow signs Politifact's every virus. If you have the antibodies for your immune to it, why do I need to get a vaccine if I have the antibodies to it? That's a good point. Show that Yeah, that's that's uh, that's basic. That's 10th grade science. We all learned in biology class. Yeah, You're absolutely right. And let me throw this question out there. And maybe some doctor listening can explain if I'm right on this. If we all get the vaccination does that lead to a vaccine resistant strain does that lead to the additional variants? I mean, is there is there Is there a theory that some of us should get it to make us collectively stronger? Otherwise, the very the virus has to work harder. Yeah, reinvent itself. The virus doesn't want to kill you. It wants to be. It wants you to be a host, and it wants you to spread it. It wants to. That's why the variants get a little bit weaker. It wants you to just spread it around. And I didn't want to kill you. Because then it dies. Just want to ride. It wants to ride so they can spread and I'm just curious. I mean, if everybody gets the Covid 19 shots does that lead to more and more vaccine resistant strain? Very good question, because you know there was there was a lot of talk about how we, uh Too many antibiotics. We got Mersa. You know things like that. I don't know if it's a science side of it. That's a little bit above my, uh, my level here. Ricky is in South Austin. Ricky. Good morning, Rick. A. Good morning, sir. Ricky from Jalisco Empire a A. There you go. What? Er Yeah. Listen, I just wanted to get my compliment and my comment about what was what I was doing and 9 11. Yeah. What's going on? I was listening to another radio station. No, you weren't. Yeah, well, yeah, assistant to, uh As chairman Bob at the time, and then then I was listening to Chuck Meyer, who was telling the news at the time and then something bad was going on. And then they switched over to ABC. And I said, Oh, my goodness. This is furious. That was food to the radio all day. But of course, I put it on K O. B. J as well because I was listening to kill BJ also as well. And I've been listening ever since. And, Yeah, I remember it. Um, very clearly when the when the bulletin came down from our network at the time, the first plane crashing in and at first, you know, the initial few minutes. It was just, you know, there may have been some sort of plane crash up in New York, right? And then the second one hit, And then any immediately became something That was much more. You know, serious? A terrorist attack. He immediately became more under attack. So I wasn't Were there other planes out there? I wasn't working here. Yet. Show. Did y'all just curious? Was it a combination of the national feed versus? Did you stick with local as well? Did we still have local on that day? Uh, as far as we do everything, and of course. Yeah, we Yeah. The network was there. Of course it was. Yeah, It was very tragic moment. It's very uh And by 9 12, we were all united Man. Flags were everywhere. It was it wasn't it was Well, it's an amazing day. It was a very earth shattering day for us collectively. Do you remember what I was all over town that day? Uh, and it was just so eerie, so eerie. It was so quiet. You know, they grounded all the flights immediately, or as quickly as they could. So that in and of itself created this eerie. You don't realize what that does to the to the you know the sound in the atmosphere. What difference that may. In fact, I remember sitting that night sitting in a restaurant outside in the quiet was just so weird because there was no traffic either. Everybody was home, You know, So there was just an eerie, eerie feeling. And everybody around town I remember Uh, I was just kind of walking around in a bit of a days, not knowing what to say. Not knowing. You know, everybody's trying to grapple what just happened and what's going to happen. Is anything else going to happen? Because we weren't sure if they were going to be any more tax. We weren't sure what was gonna I was there was there were the plane that crashed in Shanksville that was brought down by, you know some passengers and then the Pentagon crash. I mean, remember that morning I was I was running before work, and Kim was standing out the front yard looking for me to get home. Because people really weren't sure. What is next is Austin can be under attack. Is our house going to get his? Our neighborhood going to get hit by something? What is it? It was a weird, weird. I mean, Obviously it was a tragic day. But it was also very weird. Strange, uh, day. Are you safer today than you were on September? The 11th. Do you feel like that will never happen again? No, I don't know. Unfortunately, I don't. But I didn't think that was possible. I did not, And I think anything is possible. I think at the highest level we should be very creative and how we protect ourselves. Because they don't have to hijack planes anymore. They They could just create a virus in the lab. Just push buttons. Yeah, that's right. Uh, David is on the tattoo Done Show this morning. Hey, David. Well, good morning. Thanks for taking my call. Yes, sir. So September 10th. I was working in on a house on Belton Lake, and I snuck off and smoked the joint. And the next day, September, 11th like going to work at seven o'clock, my employer says. You smoke pot at work. I go. Yeah, because you're fired. I got home about 30 minutes before the first plane hit. I think America change that day forever. They did. Yeah, I guess you're right. Absolutely no doubt about it. My employment status? Yes. Yeah, that's I think everybody has a story where they were at the moment. I think your story just changed America. Yeah, sure. Yeah. Was good old. Yeah, man. Yeah. Now, what was the trip? What was the, uh, the terrain of events there? He got fired because he was smoking pot on the previous day on. How did that tie into 9 11? Well, that's how he was able to. He was home. By the time the news happened. He was able to see it on T V because you got fired for smoking pot. He wouldn't have known it even happened. No for a whole day, Maybe. And that ladies and gentlemen, is America. That And that is the story of 9 11 hit the crab. Oh, wow! We're adults, and this is ridiculous. It is a court alternative fundraiser. Get the crab Todd.

But that's all it is now is like hit me up. Follow me. Listen to this that like what happened to the sports? I just hope that's not lost in the wild, right, almost not distracting during the football season, where it's dominated. Their whole life is dominated by getting the next deal or the next deal, or just getting likes well and followers, you know, go to a professional teams practice. You gonna see guys? Agents, you know, you know, sitting on the sidelines, you got all the time. Is that going to happen? Are we going to see the college football players, agents hanging out outside the facility? Is that I really don't think they will be allowed it all right. That's what I don't think they're going to be Kansas. They're not going to be exactly welcome on campus there, but But there, you know if if you have a good group representing you a good agent, they're always looking for the next deal. When I go to the mat get to go The Masters trend, which is fascinating. Go. They've got a big tree by the clubhouse there. That's where media people and agents gather. And their deals. "Welcome back sports star Jason and DeVito 83605 nineties. The phone number Ed is out this week. Maybe we get a check in from him. He's in Boston doing something. What it seems. Doing? I don't know. Just black and golf balls checking on the bean plummets like that man calling from downtown. It's Henry on K O B. J. What's up, Henry? Hey, really love your show, And I don't know if you heard Rush Limbaugh show today. I think he was talking about the same woman who Lifelong dream was to play Serena Williams and and she did, But when she did and beat her, it's like the tennis community in the elite turned against her that Interview with Rush might be something that people could go back in the way she was humiliated at that tournament that might have caused some serious problems. So what I was thinking in this day and age, where in the past most People got their information about athletes through sports writers. Nowadays, she could hire a special social media person used Twitter and maybe fulfill her obligations by giving out information in a way that she's not in front of the media. But she's giving it out through Twitter. You know, like Tons in danger, Twitter stuff about how she feels and what she's doing, and that might need her obligations. What do you think? That is an interesting proposal that? Yeah, I didn't catch rush today. What's he doing? Um, I think you stampede away one. Thank you. Yeah, but you are correct in that when she burst onto the scene she beat Serena. And then there was like a big backlash. I don't know if it was specifically the tennis Association. But a big backlash about how the tournament was worse because someone is Serena had been eliminated. Something like that, and I do believe she had Was driven to tears at one point in that situation. I think she was also I mean, it was like, you know, she grew up loving tennis. Of course, Serena's her hero, and so you know, defeating her on that stage is a big deal for her. I don't know. I don't know if we're going to say Hey, you don't have to show up and answer questions. As long as you're tweeting and putting up Instagrams and 2021, is it not? It's June by the way, did you know this? Oh, congratulations. We made it to June 2021. But maybe there is a different way to go about it. So you're not there? I don't know, but that's a great thing to at least think about like, Why are we beholden to these mass? Yeah. Lose junkets and press conferences with so much technology available to us. Maybe. You know, we live in a zoom world. Now you do enough zooming in the last 15 months. Beato personally. Yeah, I still don't really know. Screw it. I mean, But if if that made her feel better feel better to do it, you know, in front of her laptop rather than being there in the same room with all the reporters, Maybe that would be you know an acceptable work around for for all parties involved. I don't know. I don't know, but It seems as if the organizer's in tennis are willing to work with her on this situation, and so can I just to button this up? It's probably not just press conferences that she's having problems with her mental health. Okay, it's that's the tip of the arrow here because that's what she had mentioned, like, is a trigger to her or that she didn't want to do and she didn't go to it, which ended up in her being fined and then threatened again. So I don't want to just say Well, she can't do press conferences. What's your problem? It's it My I don't know how the depth of her mental health issues. Okay, so the fact that she has stepped away from one of the grandest stage is in her profession to address this, I say, Bravo, I say Get the help you need and I say, come back stronger and even better in your in your craft. Very well said. We'll come back to this of people still want to continue discuss that. But there's MBA action to discuss here. In fact, I was going to do the fan behavior and then moved to the actual matchups. But my guy Matt has been on hold for a little well, Let's talk Lakers Suns tonight in New Mexico that eyes on K O B. J. What's up, Matt? Hey, guys, I just want to tell you this show pretty much every day. If you guys don't mind, I'm a disabled vet, and I deal with anxiety and depression. So if I could touch based on this, Yeah, I hear you guys points right now. You gotta remember football, that team sport, So this is you know, individual sport. So you know you don't know these these questions, you know, blindside. You could trigger anything. So you just don't know. So I respect this, You know, coming, you know from her could just say, you know the heck with the money that I just, you know, Step aside. So I mean, I give her props for that, but anyway Um, the MBA. How was listening to you guys? The show over again on Friday and, you know, Jason, you pretty much you know, you know, you're pretty much thrown in the towel on Phoenix. Terry got you know the Jason's Icka. Chris has got right road now. No. Um, yeah, well, listen to me. Oh, yeah. I was saying the Mavericks were gonna sweep some every once in a while. You caught me that you caught me in one of those once or twice a year times where my take was wrong. Uh oh, please, but good, honest, because honestly, I knew that I was gonna say it. Every Davis is gonna get hurt. He's not gonna last us this playoff. There's no ways the last There's no way the Lakers are not going to repeat. It's AH, it's It's really not just with the Lakers, but it's happening all over and you'd look I'm sure you could go back every year and say this injury changed the course of that NBA season almost every single season that's ever taken place. This was a crazy year for that, But yeah, the amount that it has happened from there from the start to finish and is it because we're on the heels of a pandemic because last year they played so late into the season. Because they kind of surprise started the season a little bit earlier, they thought that they were going to start until after the start of the year, and then they ended up starting on Christmas and rushed a couple of guys into action there. I don't know what the reasoning is, but, yeah, it appeared the Lakers. They come in. They, you know, just had it on cruise control in Game one and got got beat, But then they wake up call. They come back. They win the next two, and you're like, Okay, that's that's going tol that's going to seal the deal here. Chris Paul was hurt. He's got a busted shoulder over there. Syria, You just write the sun's off and then All of a sudden, Anthony Davis. He's got a growing situation and now Phoenix to the favorite serious tied 2 to 2 and Chris Paul came back and looked like he'd never been hurt. It was like tripping Sunday. Yeah, they were gonna hold him out. Bonnie Williams, the coach, Their coach, Wow, like it's done for them wanted to hold him out of out of Game four and just say, Hey, just get healthy, and hopefully we'll have you for three games. He played and was the best player on the court for for the Sons, and they win and that Syriza's tied to Topeka two apiece, So it's now Best of 32 of the Games are going to be in Phoenix, including tonight nine o'clock. No, Don't worry. I don't have a bedtime on again. The sons are the favorite to win this Syriza's now because Dad Anthony Davis's status not just for tonight, but for the rest of the Syriza is going to be in doubt. And it looks like Chris Paul's back. Yeah, I mean, I think that's gonna be a thing that's lingering, at least for the rest of these games. The shoulder injury If they advance. Is he gonna be okay? Later on But Anthony Davis has got this thing Joel Embiid had to have an M R I Today There's just guys all over the place who are or banged up with injury, and I wonder if it's If it's because of the weird season that we're having her. Is this just the way that the way that things happen, You know, was that Matt, New Mexico, Max calling for New Mexico Thank you for being a sports talk warrior out there, man. Hobbs, New Mexico. I've never. I've spent a lot of time into Mexico. I don't know where that is. My parents aren't also and they said they had to have the heat on yesterday. So it's like cold. Very cold. Where? Yeah, I don't know where Hobbes is that I've watching. I've watched the entire breaking bad series twice. That's all I got in New Mexico. It's hospital for you're well versed. I tell you what Veto that fly episode. It's actually underrated. Some people would say just to skip that one. It's a very important one. Okay. You have any idea? I'm fucking meth? Yeah,.

"You think it'd be a good idea for me to take out along for all my grandchildren? Now I know I don't think so. I think that's going to be very difficult to get through Congress. I think The idea that maybe they're going to get free Junior college education may have more legs, but I think it's gonna be a real hard push for the Senate to get to pass that because it's a blanket deal. There's no needs a pointed to it. So big, rich guy like you could buy it and somebody else could too. So no. Keep your money, John. Don't do it. Thank you. You bet. Thanks for calling. You're listening to money Dog on news, radio, K o B. J call or a text 51283605 90 Bill. You're on the air. How may I help? What do you know about big corns? You got 10 seconds. Oh, well, I run away as fast as you can. Okay. Did you see it in the future? Do you see it associated with our government that I heard somebody say the other day that They thought the government was putting something together about the Bitcoin. Well, both script or Yeah, yeah, I think I think the Blockchain technology every. I just attended another seminar this week on this. I think the technology but under underlying cryptocurrencies, all the experts say it's really powerful. That's going to be just terrific. But what's going to happen is, for example, right now is a good article today in The Wall Street Journal. So the iris is gone to the various trading places that people are buying and selling Cryptocurrencies, including bed coin and has said to them We want the records. Of the transactions because Bitcoin is considered an asset like a stock or a mutual fund, and people been selling them and taking profits and have not been reporting that on their taxes. And so the Iris is going to get a record of that, just like they do if you buy or sell a stock or a bond or a mutual fund, The broker has to disclose that to the I R s every year, so there's government involvement in this And it's not going to be a currency. It's going to be a tradable assets. Because if you and I think about this, if you and I were in business, and I was going to buy something from you, and you were going to make it and deliver it six months from now, And we decided T o settle the kind of the transaction and Bitcoin and it goes up or down 20% in the given day. You and I could never used it as currency right? We could use dollars or yen or you're over Stirling. But we'd have to be really sophisticated and hedges to use Bitcoins. So right now, I would not God color, the speculation and not an investment and I don't think whether it's the U. S government or the British government of the European Union of the Japanese. If they're going to allow something like this that can be traded like currency, and they have no control over the taxation of it, and criminals can use it. So I think is way too dangerous for it to become a currency, so that's my view Built. Well, thank you very much. I know I should have taken it. Okay. Thank you. Thanks for calling. I'm not suggesting that Bitcoin isn't a thing. That's why it gets tax. It is the thing. But it's early early early and its life and the was really interesting. The seminar that I attended was it was panel For institutional investors. Okay, One of them worked for a state pension fund. And they were there had done a lot of studying a lot of work of Cryptocurrency. So it's not just pit going to theory and I'm sure there are others as well. And at the The person. The moderator asked them and they were enthusiastic about Cryptocurrency asked them how much a pension fund might put in that. They said maybe up, maybe Between one half 10.8% of big position and be 1%. Now that's you're talking a pension fund. So even the be Bolivar enthusiastic, recognize that that it still at this point is a really risky idea. You're listening to money. Talk on news, radio K l b J, We have all of our lines available and no text. Pretty exciting. Upcoming bloviation call or text 51283605 90. I did get some information. I need to call a couple weeks. Or maybe it was the text about Roth for a one case and about the employer match and our listener, Ken, who's one of My with it. Wikipedia's can wrote me this, he said. The employer match to an employee contribution to a Roth four. Oh, one K is indeed put To the employees regular pretax for a one K even if the employer has to set that pretax, four Oh one K account up for the employees. That is to say the employees did not previously have I pre tax account, since all of his or her contributions were going to the Roth so you would get the employer contribution if your plan is designed that way. It's called the matching contribution. But that money would go into a pretax for a one K while you have the option to not get the deductible contribution and put after tax money into a Roth four Oh one K. And then when you retired or Quit working there. If you chose to do a Roth I IRA rollover. That's fine, but to do the iron, But the money that employer put in that would have to be an IRA rollover. Or you'd have to pay the tax on it, presumably after age 59 a half And because that all that time that was a pretax contribution from your employer, So thank you, Ken. Listing the money. Talk on these radio Kale, BJ call or a text by 1283605 90. So what I do on Saturdays besides reading and perusing the Wall Street Journal and Barron's magazine. The year did eight return is a minus 2.68 on by everyone knows who's right your listener that I don't talk about funds by name by. I have read that the largest bond fund is the Vanguard Total Bond market. And it has a return very similar to the egg within common has read in terms of Maya's 2.79. I've got a call coming in. So allow me to remind you call or text 51283605 90. Peter, you're on the air. How may I help? Hey, Carol, and I have a question about cost basis. Hypothetically, Let's say I bought some stock for $10. I bought one share of it in a while Later, it went up to 20 about one more share A while later, it went up to 30 about one more share while later it went back down to 20 and I sell one share. What's the cost basis of that? Sure, I just sold so my understanding is you have a choice. You can take those three purchases and come up with an average cause and use that is your cost basis, or you can choose which share you're selling. So in your eye, pathetic a leg sample If it goes back down to 20, and you, could you and this is in a taxable environment, not an IRA or something like that you could elect to sell the share that was attributable to the $30 purchase, thereby booking that $10 loss. But once you choose did use that you can't change your policy. You can't go back to average in. My understanding is you can use first in first out last in first out, you always want to check with the tax prepare. But I do know that you have a choice as to what to do, But then you have to use that choice from then on for any future sales, Peter So it wouldn't be a matter of remembering that you sold the 30 and you have the 10 of the 20 left either have to take the last one of the first one and miners, miners direct yes or yes or the average miners saying I've seen Brokerage statements. I see these days when you have multiple purchases, so I've seen this with people that use exchange traded funds and maybe buy some every quarter. They will. The brokerage statement shows lists all those purchases. They call them lots lot one lot to etcetera. It shows the number of shares in the dollar cost and then extends that over to what their cost is, and so it's delineated there so you don't have to..

"We're talking with Carrie Roberts of the Greater Austin Crime Commission carry Prop B was approved over the weekend. That's the one you know to really change things. When it comes to these homeless issues. We know there's a lot of crime in the homeless community. Do you think some of that crime rate could go down as a result of Prop B being approved? Well, you know, unfortunately, enforcement options air pretty limited. I think what the, uh, the chief has told the department they'll do is first of all, they're going to have to Bag, you know, doing education and outreach program to the people who are living in encampments. They're affected by the ordinances and the officers will Will seek voluntary compliance, but we hope as a result of that, to your point that will see less crime in these affected areas. Talk to me a little bit about morale. Recruiting and things like that. These these officers have really been ripped apart in some cities, including Austin. How's morale out there? Well, I think morale of the challenge. There's no doubt about it. So we're hoping that's one of the reasons with the council vote on March 25th tol prove the manager's blueprint and now this week on Thursday with out of 10 Edible signal support from the Tweety and the council. You know that we backed the police department that we're going to provide adequate force strength in order to maintain public safety for a growing city like ours and start to rebuild. Is Austin, Texas, A safe city the mayor often refers to it is one of the safest cities in America. Yeah. I just want to get your general thoughts on that front. Well, I think Austin in many ways is still a very safe city and I've heard the mayor say that frequently, but we're sort of moving in the wrong direction. I mean, several years ago, we were the second safest large city then then the third and then the fourth and the fifth and so we're going in the wrong direction, and we're seeing Certain crime categories Spike Year over year, and I think that while many major metropolitan areas are experiencing the same thing, we have to pay particular attention in Austin because this is a community that we're used to being safe and our schools, churches and neighborhoods and You have to pay attention. I have to ask you, you know, because it's a controversial subject. I don't know how the Greater Austin Crime Commission feels about constitutional carry permit list. Carrie, that's something that's gonna be, uh, possibly on the house floor. At our state capital this week or next. How do you? We know that our police chief and many others from around the state Have you? No. Cautioned lawmakers about the unintended consequences of that. And so I think it will be obviously a decision for state legislators to make. But you know we are. We share the concerns of the major city chiefs. Interesting. Carrie. Thank you so much. The Central Texas landscape does not look anything like what you'd normally expect on a Monday across the Austin area as you're waking up. Today's Snow is covering the city, along with a sheet of ice in many spots on the roadways right underneath that snow. Six inches. Arm or the snow have been reported overnight. So is that snow and ice cover much of the state over the next few days. Governor Greg Abbott is asking that you do your best conserve electricity and natural gas. The National Guard is also working to help in this effort. They're working primarily to assist the Department of public Safety as well as other state agencies to help things like stranded travelers. They will also be conducting welfare checks. In remote areas across the state and the governor's his power crews have been on standby and help is coming in from other states just in case it's needed. Abbott also says the federal Emergency Declaration for Severe Winter weather has been approved by the White House meeting. Resources are on the way for mass care and sheltering and direct federal assistance. Rolling blackouts continue across the state as the Electric Reliability Council of Texas or ERCOT tries to bring down some of the strain the power grid is dealing with right now. ERCOT says these temporary outages shouldn't last more than 30 minutes. Although Austin Energy is now saying that if you are dealing with one of these rolling blackouts from ERCOT, it actually could be hours before your service comes back on. Here's what they say about Chief Manley and his retirement, The Greater Austin Crime Commission and a Grateful community. Thank chief Brian Manly for 30 years of dedicated service. He has led the Austin Police Department with character and integrity during difficult moments of our community, like every first responder family Chief Manley's wife, Tina, and Children have shared in the sacrifice of the past three decades. They deserve our appreciation, as well as she family champion efforts to expand community policing and confronted the public safety challenges of a growing city. The Austin Police Department is a better organization because of his humble and effective leadership. The Greater Austin Crime Commission is proud to support as a proud supporter of the Austin police Department. And we wish Chief Manly the very best as he enjoys. Ah, well earned return. They're sure that what kind of work record he had back then. Clearly he was a store employee. There. He I think has done that job with with the most integrity of any police chief that we've ever had in my memory, That's for sure. And I think it's it's a big loss that a p D at the same time. This has been the even though I don't blame him for wanting out now. A Zafar is his lack of support that he gets from his own City Council and Mayor. Asai understand that's been the plan for a long time for him to go ahead and return. I don't think there's anything that's pushing him out the door. I don't think the controversy of the hardships of a job or are pushing him out the door. I mean, he understands. The job of a police chief. Yeah, I think it's just after 30 years he's done. Well, simple. Is that congratulating he has served this community. Well, I wish that we had been able to have him as our chief. For longer than we have. But I think he's done a tremendous job. Not perfect. No, but no police chief can do a perfect job in that business because it Z not a pretty business sometimes, and it's it's but he I think his whatever he has done. It's been done with integrity, that's for sure. In my opinion, how do you find another police chief? Just as you get a city council. That's de funding that. Yeah, that show did just as you got a D A. That's on a mission to get every cop in front of a grand jury. Very good question. Very good warehouse. Maybe this maybe it. We may have an acting chief for for quite a while. Exactly right. I would think that our city is big enough for a nationwide search. But who would want that job? There may be people currently in the department that wanted you. Would you want to come to city that Z not going to support you as far as the city government and and wants to defund your department? Anybody interested? While every every Anybody interested? Just about every city in America is dealing with those evil. I know. I know, but least big cities. Well, this will be interesting to see how this this search goes. It'll be interesting to see one how long it takes and what Greg Hussars says the requirements are right. Greg will set the stage on this one. Well, I'm really sorry to see Chief male ego at the same time. I don't know. I understand what you're saying. I mean, he's been a good chief. I think I think the rank and file support him. I think I've never heard any anything different, but I'm glad he's retiring. I really am because he's put in 30 years of a happy for congratulations. This is ah, true milestone in his life for his family about his family's happy I'm very happy. But you know that it is what it is. And I'm happy that He's had such an amazing career. Well, I would think that the well, the first thing we gotta do is we got to send some sort of commission to California to find a new police chief, right? Like yourself. That's right. "CAS are was pushing for the creation of some new independent structure on top of the police chief to oversee what they're doing. Yeah, it doesn't take much imagination that you could see that position. I mean, and I don't even know Mark is something to consider. Would they even think about hiring a chief of police instead? Just her like a board that oversees everything that fits with Their line of thinking and where they want to take the police sports. That could be a possibility. Melinda. "Jury of public opinion weigh in on that. I learned a long time ago. I don't know everything. But that's not my understanding, So we'll find out pretty soon. Thanks for calling. You bet. You're listening to money talk. Okay, can or Bob in early tyranny view other smarty pants who helped me at all the time. Do you have to cash in within 10 years? Your beneficiary Roth IRA. You have a question? Call or text? 51283605? 90. Gary, You're on the air. How may I help? Yes, Carl. I was actually calling in for the same reason. Previous caller. It is my understanding that the Secure act does require inherited broth are raised to be pulled out in 10 years, but since you're not taxed on it Then, uh, And since you have an advantage to have it be in the Roth and not be taxed than a lot of advisers recommend, leave it in there for the whole 10 years on and then pull it out the last year Great, but that's my understanding. Now there are Some exceptions to that there are five exceptions in the secure act. And if you qualify for one of these, and you can still do a stretch IRA and read their traditional or Roth and One of the if you're disabled, if you're chronically ill, if you're the spouse of the decedent if you're less than 10 years younger than the decedent and one kind of hot if you're the minor child of the decedent, But you have to be the child. You can't be the grandchild and something I just read yesterday made it look like if you are the minor child of the decedent. And once you become an adult, then you have to take it out in 10 years. So you correct me if I'm wrong on that you saw that yesterday, But it's my understanding that I'm so glad you're regular listener, Gary because I had not read that I had slept past me. So our previous collar. I hope you're still listening. You were right. And if it's a beneficiary, irate Jerry's pointed out quick, your accountant. Don't trust me over your account your counsel Different. Okay. Count is right. And I'm wrong. Okay. All right. Thanks a lot for college. The later you listen to money talk news, radio, K. O. B. J, where we regularly stumped the jump. When you have a question, call or text 51283605 90. Here comes Bob. In early thing he says, yes, The Secure act does effect in here. Did Roth IRAs for those who inherit in 2020 or later? Secure act requires none eligible designated beneficiaries to empty the inherited Roth IRA account by the end of the 10th year after the year of the deaths, and now Gary and Bob are regular listeners, and they're very well informed. So I think we reached a conclusion there. Thanks to both of you. 51283605 90. Marianne, You're on the air. How may I help? Hi, Carl. All right, I just step. I guess we're back to our MD's this year, right? Right. Yeah. Uh, it seems to me, um that, uh, they're complaining. We need to do before we hear how much it is Perhaps, but, uh, you've mentioned and I are aware of that if you make a contribution to, uh, is it for one? See it's called the fiber. One C. So for everybody else when Marianne is talking about is if you are in required minimum distributions phase. And you can contribute called a qualified charitable distribution. It goes directly from your IRA custodian to the fiber. One c three And you can do that up to $100,000. So if a person had a large, irate And her required minimum distribution was, say $150,000. She could do up to 100 to various charities. That's how it works. And you just said various So you would. You could split that. Whatever. Let's just say you could give 10 institutions $10,000 each You. Absolutely could you have total flexibility. Okay. Good. Well, I just want to clarify that and have the procedure so that it's not that you can break it into your attraction your educational institution or however Well, thank you, Carl. That was the main question your custodian now because custodian now knows what you're our MD is because they have your 12 31 20. Market value so you can do this anytime you want, but just don't wait till say December to do it because they get backed up and you may not get the paperwork properly done in somebody's back office. Good. Well, that's a that's a good reminder not to last Let anything wait that long for sure is we've had problems with the male in our area. And so you know, I'm pretty concerned about Folks getting their tax forms and so forth that I hope that gets results. Sure. Yeah, well, thank you, Carl. Appreciate it. Thanks for calling. Bye bye. Listening to money talk. Marianne reminds me I'm still haven't heard from our friends at the Texas Workforce Commission got you know someone stole my identity and filed a claim in my name. And I'm the employer as well. And I have called the fraud hotline at the Texas Workforce Commission and I online and filled out the form and told him it was fraud. And this is the third week and I get crickets. And I have this fraudulent thief person. Probably in Nigeria gets my money. Then I'm gonna pay higher premiums and I'm not gonna be a happy camper..
