Bryce roads denied any knowledge of what had happened to larry maurice. He did tell cops after talking to them for several hours quote. I need a lawyer man. If you're going to keep all in my face now taylor. The other individual in custody also initially refused to talk and tell detectives what he knew so police are going to turn to this antoine carter the youngest of the three and he decides to help out do the right thing and he tells police. Exactly what happened to maurice. And larry ann wan said that on the night of may twenty-first leading into the twenty second he and bryce roads and the two brothers and jacoby taylor were all hanging out at prices. Rhodes place now remember captain. I said that it was important that bryce roads mom said she was out of town when whatever went down went down ray price as successful and famous rapper guy that he claims to be in. The neighborhood lives at home with mommy. Of course that's because he's spending too much money at the job every stomachs right. So taylor in maurice get into a fight at prices place this is. What's being told to police that. Marie pulled out a knife. Bryce roads hit murray's and took the knife away then an also maintained that larry and maurice had stolen some money from bryce roads. This all these actions leading up to their murder. Now i want to be perfectly clear here captain because it's not clear to me. How much of this is true right. There was an altercation that these two boys stole from bryce roads while since chance at none of that's true but also makes it seem like they pulled a knife and then bryce took the knife away therefore it being some kind of act of self-defence right right because the rest of what an would tell. The police is basically what you mentioned on yesterday. Show that bryce roads afraid that he's going to be implicated for murder by these two young box the he decides the best way to get them not to talk to shut them up permanently and kill

"The jazz lost two straight dinners lose two straight. Jay lost two straight to the timber. Wolves back to back style. Obviously there without donovan. Mitchell who out but jordan clarkson kind of cooled off the second half of the year and having trouble guarding guards jalen. They're only ahead of the sons by one. Game the clippers by two games. Do you think this jazz team is going to be the number one seed as we head into the players. Only about eleven games left. I think the jazz still find a way to maintain the number one spot. I know right now. That one game looks really slim Giora clarkston is likely going to be sixth man of the year the utah jazz on a historic pace to make many threes per game as any team in the history of the league. They play defense however mistakes by rudy bear laden gazed ended up giving up a layup to the angelo russell feed 'em make plays like that. I think they find a way to get fixed. I think they hold it down. Antill spider mitchell returns and props to the sons for pressing the jazz and the rest of the western conference. They even the playoffs last year. Now looking desk they got a better record in the clippers and the lakers phoenix has got a better record than the clippers and lincoln. So i wanna give them props but the jazz number one spot. And i think the chris paul deserves all the credit in the world and jalen you know i got a little bit of negativity in my heart and i think chris paul has proven his influence over the wind of a basketball game the last two years but he's not the mvp people talking about him in the mvp race. "Fdic we welcome you back and we mentioned before we came on as we were coming on about the latest from usa today. Another blockbuster in the publication today by our next guest kenny. Jacoby under the heading. Lsu athletic director in minister claims years harassment and retaliation after reporting less myles. kennedy kobe. Joining us now kenny. Thank you very much before we even start I read earlier today. That you and your team That had been working on these stories Have won a very prestigious investigative reporter national ward And i know you're not in this to win awards. But i'm sure you have to be gratified that you are being recognized as opposed to being harassed by angry fans. It certainly feels good thank you. Well let's talk about this latest because this to me Goes to a different level. Let's talk a little bit about sharing lewis that person that you quote in here. She's the associate athletic. Director for football recruiting She stole in that position. And then i would like you to go through exactly what she told you. Yes so sharon still is in the same position. She's at associate athletic. Director for football recruiting and She is preparing to file a series of lawsuits against her bosses. Against lsu board of supervisors against taylor porter law firm in baton rouge The former president f king alexander and just the slate of other people Who she says have retaliated against her harasser and abused her Ever since she reported less miles for sexual harassment Eight years ago Less miles was obviously accused of sexually harassing student. Workers who worked for sharing lewis and sharon says that miles himself And other people in her office Basically engaged in this year's long retaliation against her over the fact that she reported issues. Can you there's some pretty inflammatory Incidents that that you recall in this article not asking you. It's a too long. I mean we would spend the rest of the day going through the entire article but in terms of some of the most serious things that she alleges. Which would you discuss those with our audience. Yes so so. Sharon said that since basically less miles first week on the job He was pressuring her to sexualize her staff of student workers and specifically To replace a black workers on herself with blonde white workers With large breasts and When he when she would rebuff his efforts he would get other people on the staff to pressure her into Doing the same thing And ultimately he decided that he was gonna take matters into his own hand and start personally interviewing Them himself at night. This turned out to be a disaster right away according to sharon She says that miles she had workers coming to are saying that miles asked about their sex life and interviews asked one of them even and then it wasn't that long after that That student workers started coming to her and saying that miles had sent them inappropriate text messages and made inappropriate sexual advances toward after that After there was this investigation. Done by the taylor porter law for that exonerated miles except found his behavior to be inappropriate. Just not prohibited sexual harassment under the law. She says that miles continue to try and pressure her into high. You know hiring white blonde workers to or staff to attract the ball players and that when she would report these issues to people in the office her supervisors They would basically tell her to go. Get another job somewhere else to just deal with miles And it got to the point where some of them were verbally abusing her Some of them were Trying to undermine her she said that wasn't she was running for The president of the athletes alumni association Her boss verge ause berry Told staff board members not to vote for her Try to prevent them from giving her all the powers of the presidency And just as recently as this fall she said That oz berry told her she would never get promoted because woodward is is boy and he would never meet with her now scott woodward for those who are confused in this story he is the new athletic director not new. He's been there a year and a half maybe two years by now and he replaced. Joe alita Let me read a comment that you got from her. And i want you to talk about this for a second. This is in your article today. And this is from mrs lewis. And she says this. I'm quoting out. They get to lie and they get to admit that they lied and come back to work. I mean it's about. We've got to set a standard there. And that's all and you write that. She was deny pay raises. Promotions ridiculed in front of her co workers told to find another job when she complained and she did suffer a breakdown she's still. she's still working there though right. She is still working there and she plans to continue working there She's saying in that comment. I believe What she's referring to is the fact that she said she had been instructed for her entire almost twenty years working there that she was to report any sort of title nine related issue to miriam. Seager and verge is berry to people who are supervisors But she didn't learn until much later that those two weren't always reporting things that she would report to them onto the title nine office so they would sort of die out her supervisor level So i think that is one aspect of what she says is is lying on their parts. Another part is that Share and lewis is the only person to have ever been disciplined by lsu for not following the title nine policy despite the fact that she had been reporting miles reporting retaliation by her bosses and reporting different athletes and allegations against them When she was going through a entitled nine investigation into her for not following that policy she said that verge ause berry. And miriam seager both told the investigators that she hadn't reported any incident to them Miriam ziegler went so far as to say she had never reported any title nine instant to them.

U.S. Stimulus Checks Start to Land in Bank Accounts

"May be some money from the government there. Now. Over the weekend, The first of those $1400 stimulus payments started showing up in people's accounts theorists has the job of sending them out yet another project for the agency right in the middle of tax season, NPR's Brian Naylor reports. It's been a rough decade or so, for the I. R. S budgets were slashed. There was a hiring freeze and a loss of workers. Tony reared in as president of the National Treasury Employees Union, which represents many I R s workers Since 2000 and 10 the iris has lost nearly 33,000. Employees. It makes it very difficult for the agency to do its tax work when you know they've lost more than 20% of the workforce. Then a year ago, the Corona virus pandemic hit the filing deadline for 2019 taxes was extended to July and the I. R S is still behind in processing those returns. And now, with the 2020 filing season underway, the agency has new responsibilities. It needs to issue the latest stimulus payments to some 85% of American households, according to President Biden and implement other provisions as well. It is big task on top of filing season. As well as the other stimulus measures that were put in place by the bill that Samantha Jacoby she's with the nonprofit center on budget and Policy Priorities, She says the Iris will get some help in the bill and infusion of $1.4 billion to modernize the agency's 50 year old software platform. The IRAs knows how big of a task this is and how important it is. They've got this big infusion of funding, which is really important. There could be some hiccups. But the Iris is working really hard to get this relief to people. The IRA says it's reviewing the just past, Billa spokesman telling NPR the measure is a really heavy lift in some respects. Nina Olson, a former taxpayer advocate at the agency, says the iris should be pretty well prepared to issue the stimulus payments. I think that the stimulus checks are the least of their worries in this Sense that they've done this twice for in the last 12 months. They have the programming in place for most of it. Certainly with the December around, they showed how quickly they could respond, but also says another provision of the measure could be a bit more complicated. It's the new monthly child tax credit of up to $300 per child that Democrats included in the bill. Which the I R. S is going to have to figure out how to implement its A new pro. Graham. It requires monthly payments. Although the issuance of monthly payments is to me the least of their worries. It's are you paying out the money to the right people, you know if the child is moved to somebody else's household Or another child is added, and another provision in the bill, which makes unemployment insurance payments. Tax exempt for many Americans is a further complication. Many taxpayers have already filed their 2020 returns and may have paid taxes. They no longer Oh, says Samantha Jacoby. The good news is starting last year. The Iris will now allow people who want to amend returns to do so. Elektronik Lee, which wasn't the case in the past, and that might make it a little bit easier for some people, But she says it's clearly a big challenge for the I. R. S to carry out. All that's been put on its plate with the new legislation, and it's going to take some time. Brian Naylor. NPR News, the first Western country to get

Philadelphia Eagles trade QB Carson Wentz to Indianapolis Colts for two draft picks

"Story of the day. The Eagles have traded quarterback Carson Wentz to the Indianapolis Colts and oh my goodness. It made me very happy. I was so excited. There's a lot to unpack. I want to start though by mentioning a weird thing first. In the 2016 NFL draft the number and overall pick was Jared Goff. The number two overall pick was Carson Wentz. And both have been traded away from the teams. They were drafted by 19 days apart. Just a weird quick doesn't happen very often the guy a number and overall pick a number 2 overall pick gets traded away. Especially not the quarterback position. Let alone almost in just over two weeks apart from each other. That's crazy. Pretty wild now after the trade the Eagles have a 33.8 Million Dead money. Salary cap charge for the 2021 NFL season what that means I will get into that in a minute. First of all, that's actually by the way the most ever to have dead money cap. I guess charge or penalties by an NFL team. It's so much that I actually thought that might keep the Eagles from trading cars and stuff like that might be so much of a penalty. They're not even getting rid of the guy sounds like they did. I thought it's good for everybody Carson Wentz wanted out they I think we're you know, we'll talk about Jalen hurts in a minute, but I thought it was good to get Carson out of there. It is also kind of weird and interesting I talked about Jared Goff previously very briefly the other the the record for the most amount of dead money against the salary cap was Jared Goff. The Rams amount is 22.2 million dollars off. Beat 19 days later by the Carson Wentz trade what is dead money? You may ask it's basically all the guaranteed money the Eagles still owe Carson Wentz after the trade. So even though Carson is no longer on their team. He still creates a thirty three point eight million dollar cap hit for next year. So over thirty-three million dollars off of the salary cap has taken up for Philadelphia. They cannot use that money for other players. It's weird. It's interesting. It's never that's again the most ever pretty interesting. I was surprised that you know, they still trade off a given that but in the trade the Colts got Carson Wentz so the cold they get their quarterback that the replacement Philip Rivers the replacement for Andrew Luck. I'm happy for the Colts man. They've they've Way to make it work. They lost in Turlock. They had to scramble the Mage Jacoby Brissett work for a year. They made Philip Rivers work for a year. Now. They've got what they believe is their franchise guide Carson Wentz good for them. The Eagles got a 2001 third-round pick for the upcoming NFL draft and a conditional 2022 second-round pick and here's what's really cool. The condition. Is that if Carson Wentz plays 75% off Kohls offensive snaps for next year if it stays healthy place the whole year or you know, it's good enough to be the starter all years and get benched. Then that draft pick goes from a second round pick in 2022 to a first-round picks. Oh, wow. I like about that. People are saying the Eagles got a horrible trade. They got fleeced. It's terrible. Oh my goodness. You gotta realize this is probably the best trade they could possibly find the Eagles traded away Carson Wentz a guy who has an injury history has been injured repeatedly over the years. He's coming off of a horrible season where he was so bad the dude got benched for Jalen hurts a rookie quarterback Club. So the fact that Philadelphia made a trade where they have an opportunity to get a first-round pick that's impressive to me. I think people realize that's the best they were going to get so anybody criticizing Philadelphia you did not realize how I think how little value Carson Wentz really had on the market people like nobody really wants him. I think JJ Watts getting a ton of attention Carson Wentz people are very wary. And I think it's really what's really disappointed me. Is that the Bears didn't get him. What did the Bears did the Bears not want him? I don't understand. Maybe they're trying to John Watson feel like the Bears really lost here. They still got home key who Carson Wentz has problems I think is way better than Mitchell trubisky. So debate that all you want. I don't know how you go. Like. Oh the Bears they got a great quarterback still trubisky. I like it. I think another thing people got realize is that I love the trade for Carson Wentz. He's going to a way better team he gets to play for his former offensive coordinator Frank back in 2017 the best year Carson Wentz ever had in the NFL. He was a before he got hurt. He was an MVP candidate playing under Frank Reich. He's reuniting with that guy that's going to be awesome to got a great relationship and EM the Colts have a great offensive line. They've got to get running game. They've got a great defense Carson Wentz is being put into a great situation. If he does not do well then there's no excuse. You can make he's got great great team around him good support good people. He's getting helped.

"It. He started watching episode from the start. Start if a dentist start is is insane. I remember honestly like i was like billick. I had to like you know my caller texture. I was a little worried about your mental health dealing with the pandemic differently. But you going back and watching every episode of the challenge that a little bit of a red flag warning signs because everything cool. He's a cool. I just had it on the background of i work. We watched it watched it but we started at like rivals. I think screeners dude. I know what happens tonight crazy. I don't like this season as much as i want to. But it's because we were watching dirty thirty we were in the military thirty which all race olga. and then. i was going to this one. And i'm like oh i'm getting confused. I can't simultaneously watch two seasons of challenge but it made me realize the reason we love it. We can get into this the next time you do. Guess is because it's a recurring cast in a competition reality show and nobody else has that so you. It's basically like sports in that you get. I know you've always said that. But it's like you get seasons of like rivalries between new people new people enough old people think there's something about just like old friends i've known been and assured on. "That it's super important to be challenged to be scared and to be freaked out and to like not. You're good enough or you can pull it off. Cause i'm checking. All those and i think i brought up. I think that's important for your own growth because then you do in your kind of good. No one of my favorite. I think one of my favorite work moments with you was when we did the first episode. Always late he'll be the last story in allah ego we we something went wrong. I think that was the one where we had a monologue and then the night before it got told. We couldn't use any the videos that we needed to use for it so i had to write an entire monologue and it was a stressful absolute mess. And we were first time. The staff was making an actual show together. Yada yada yada. Something went crazy wrong and we had to fill two different versions of the ending. So that i didn't get in trouble because we couldn't wait any longer for somebody to approve the thing i was gonna say remember remember used to have to send the monologue to all the executives at espn guys. You got to five networks doing twenty four hours. Are you really going to read through like every comma and punctuation the like. Hey put a couple in their you know or too far so that they cut those ones and feel like they did something. You weren't going to say those ones anyway and then you get to say the ones you say. Oh that's brilliant that's got through high schools like don't worry shortcut everything i've ever done always does anyone who is working in media anything's put lightning rod things in your work that the supervisors bosses overseers whatever we want to call them can just feel like they impacted the end product. So i put stuff in. Things i know aren't gonna last or stay. Just so people can take them out so they feel worthy. Yeah i touched this. My fingerprint is on this. That's what that's they're looking for. It's like when i'm in a meeting when you think it's over and someone's like one more thing and you're like oh. This person needs to know they came to the meeting. I would have been fine with you not talking but okay but my first show. Everything went wrong. You me ashley. Glenn and mike were were all like the people that were all the top of like touching this show in helping the show. Were all angry all at different people. Some of us at each other. Some of us just like somebody in bristol. We didn't even know. Were all just kind of heightened. And you and i like yell at each other and then we walked away from it and i was sitting in the conference room like collecting myself and then i saw you come around the corner and i jumped up to be like. Hey i'm really sorry that was. I was just too stressed out about the show. When i had too much writing on it and i and use looked at me and you were like what i refer out about it. We're okay job works. That could not care less. I'm sorry for what i said if you took it like. We needed to get that out. Let's go grab a drink. And i was like this is the gig. It's when you said that. I'm like this guy gets it in a way. That's like obviously you shouldn't get to that point where you're yelling but when you do i'm like you. You knew sooner than most people would or even should that i. It was because i was so worried about the thing we made. Oh so stressed about it. And i wanted so bad for it to be good and you didn't make me beg you to forgive me for it. You just were like. Hey i get it and work. Good let's go hang out and have move on. You have to move on and sitting important lesson absolutely. It's not it. It feels so important in the moment. But it's in the big picture it's really not important. Yeah winning that battle is not. there's no having the battle isn't it's just. You're getting the emotion that's all anyway. I appreciate it. You've been a mentor in a way. That's the word feels wrong. But it's like having you. There always made me feel like we're finally of jacoby. Anything goes wrong. We've jacoby because it always you were very good at making you give people confidence. Well that's really nice of you to say. Yeah i mean. I just got like thirteen percent choked up. I'm not like crying. Like i literally got like twenty percents. I'm easy cryer. Don't think you're gonna get me there. Yeah i'm an easy cryer. That now i'm now i'm upset. I've never made you cry. Well we all have to have goals in our lives reminder to here on make you cry i. It's hard to make you cry when you won't even read my text messages but you know lots of them were lent him five text messages the other day with the fifth one being the many text messages. But that should explain the podcast. I want you to do no pressure. Let me know if you wanna do it. And he texted. He called me back. Dukla said do you think. I'm gonna read all of that and i was like well. It was a heartfelt pitch to have you on my podcast but no of course you're not going to read all of it and you know they're a jerk about it. It was very very nice of you ozzy. Just having me be considered in having me on this podcast. Oh having me be considered shut up. The first thing you said was on pissed that you waited this long list. Is it people. It's with like like. I'm building up to bomani at some point to. I'm still not ready yet. Not good enough at interviewing it. Because he's smart and he can find his way out of answering anything because he's smart. He's great but we'll get there. Do you remember to just one second. Let me just reminisced remember. We literally lived like a version of the espn commercials here. The seaport coming. Off as liz cheney and just all of that like there were times where it's like you have to dislike pinch yourself at certain times in life and be like this is kind of the dream like this is like this is sort of like i just peeked. And now it's like it came into our team buddy. I'm a crime now. It's we didn't really. You don't know what you got till it's gone. It's gone hugh jackson. What did steven a. And pablo and bonnie get into like a yelling match about. I wanna say it was hugh jackson could have been hugh jackman. I don't know maybe a new wolverine came out either way. There was those were always fun. I always felt like. I should be like documenting it then. I felt like a narc. But i'm like somebody should know that this is how it happened. How it really is that. You have that impulse to take out your phone and record it. But it's a mealy makes you a herb. Yep you know what i mean have consented. The people around us feeling is i'm just going to post was gonna win is recording. Yes i miss it. I do i miss it and i miss you and i hope you're doing okay in every pandemic okay as the right way to put it under. I'm happy to see you and hear you. And when i run out of people that i know to do this i'm gonna have to circle back around to my list so don't think you're completely off the hook yet. Because i wanted to talk about the challenge i've spent. I got dan into the challenge. We spent corentin going back through seasons of the challenge. We went back to. I think rivals or my new bill now. I.

"So like thirteen minutes a contest exactly so you had like three topics. It was cleared the nuts and also. I'm just some guy who sunday peeing in my bathroom. And i'm like doing it from my bedroom and the kids are coming in the bedroom wall and during the show her comments such a mess. It was such a mess. How many people are going into that office now. Not many at all is really just essential. It's like the tech people in talent. That's it have you seen early talent. Yeah i'm gonna send it to you. I have a. I don't have a desk anymore. No i don't have a desk anymore so that there was so much stuff in and on my desk. Do i have the locker still. I don't know. I don't think keyed in my locker was in my desk. I don't know if you have a locker what's in the locker clothes. Random clothes that i threw in there. I bet there was food at my desk. There was certainly chick-fil-a sauces in the top drawer love chick-fil-a so that probably exploded in her all over everything but they can send it to me and i'll figure it out. I'll have senator. Oh not having a desk. Such a bummer. My i have be is really the only thing i keep thinking about. Let's there one of those fancy molded to my ear. Ones was never fit standard. Moldy from your ear don't fit doesn't make they have to fit. They molded to you. They're made for you. They make the shoe on your foot. I remember when colin and michelle each drip wiser ears. I just realized. I haven't said the word earpiece is interrupted will frequency broadcast. Is that what it stands for. I believe so. I thought it was insane clown posse but that's just me. That's just you. And i remember when colin and michelle dripped wax in the ears to mold and they're having so much fun doing it and really we have a show we we have a show will work. It's an unpleasant experience will work. They put this like foamy stuff in your ear. And it expands. You have to bite down on a thing. And it's i hate it down a thing to sit in the like avocado room. Which is fox. Sports called their green room the ocado room while they did that and people were coming in and i couldn't hear anything because my ears are plugged clogged with like bubbly stuff. It was uncomfortable. I hated all of it. It felt like a bit. And nobody's filming it. Which made it even a waste of time which upset me anyway. My fb. I can let you go. What's your day now. You go home or do you stick this as long as you can. And then go home. God is just such a nightmare. Is it ever nine kids. I'll say highs and lows. You know what i mean like. There's times during the pandemic when we're all sitting around the dinner table and laughing and making fun of each other we like. Oh my god nothing else matters like nothing matters just us. These four human beings are everything to me and just like what are you have besides the people this share your last name and like nothing matters in the world separate you humans die for you and then there's times you dislike. I need to say goodbye to these people and just leak you know without these people life might even be easier. Maybe i just walk. And then don't stop walking and then change my name in moved to tijuana find it crept says a on the beaches totally irrational. It doesn't make any business. Great crabs i can make crabs from scratch. No vive it's crepes. We've had this conversation It's like it's like yeah. I bet you have had this conversation. I bet j wolf wherever we were in the office over to it so he could join it definitely clips but nobody says that you can't say crap it's like it's like guy fieri like i know it's speedy but i'm going to say hairy. It's on make thon maker on the pistons fun occur. It's maker. I respect that and that's totally cool that that's how you say it. It's not how. I probably going into moving forward but gave up on. Rondo started calling them. Rondo 'cause i was like i have. This has changed too many times rage on john. Rajon really really miss people. You know what i mean like. Let me just say this inclosing a extrovert. I'm already started rapping. I'm a talker. I'm an interactor. I'm a people person. And i need human interaction to exist and just i'm just starting for it Starving for me too. That's why genuinely why. I spend every thursday talking to a person that i miss that i'm like. Are you talk for an hour about your life finish. I would like nothing more than to you. Be kind of mad at me. Something always league. I would like nothing more for you to just come in pissed because such and such didn't do such and such funding now is so stupid i would like nothing more than you just to come in enraging alot to me and just like walk to your desk a monster. That didn't happen staff time. That's not true at all. But i'm saying no i'm the point being i work with. I crave for the worst of times. You know what i mean. I i crave for the bad stuff. Not just the good stuff. You know what i mean like. Yeah it's not just like the remnants like an argument a work argument. I miss like a. Oh my god we have. I miss a deadline of like. Oh my god. What are we going to do. And it isn't. What are you going to do because right now. Any deadline i have is just mine. I'm alone on an island. I missed the like okay. Three of us. Let's put our brains together and see what the best solution to this problem is. I miss that type of anxiety not like crushing constant anxiety of things in general being bad in a way that i can't fix them. Yes i work problems. I miss work problems so much and work relationships and inside jokes and just saying hi to people and like the bid. What are we getting for lunch. All that stuff and office experience is how it the way he would walk in and be like do a bit with this person. Eat this person's cookie say what's up to this person. Send an email and it's like. Oh man i miss all that i miss running bits. Yes yes and. I was like really thrive on that stuff like that is that is the gasoline fills my tank. And there's just nothing here. Before the pandemic. I would've said that i'm i'm better in isolation i don't mind isolation and i'm still i still don't mind it as much but as like some other people but i also have learned that like. Yeah that's because it's my coping mechanism. Being safe with myself is like where. I'm comfortable being. Comfortable is not how you get better. You get better when you have to do these things. You're not really good at are you. Don't like as much and you have to learn how to adapt to it. So it's like yeah me being in my house for a year. I'm alive i'm here. But i'm not my best version of me. I need people more than i probably would have admitted before the.

"I don't know. I haven't tested. Antibodies but i get tested every week. 'cause i come to the office for work and i technically can't wear a mask when i'm doing my show so like there's some legal thing where if you can't wear masks and you need to be tested so i get a negative test every week and it's always this weird gamble we'll give me negative again but i've been exposed to my nanny had it and more that my buddy had it. I played basketball on covered in and it was like. Yeah a lot of my runs. Allowed doctors have been vaccinated so it feels pretty safe. Put just like it's been around me. yes i do. That's cool because they suck at basketball or go to basketball but they're all like er doctors. Yeah so they all like it was says. Some of my best friends are er doctors. And i'm basketball team and their experience in march was like i. This one guy just went dark on me. He didn't talk to me for like six weeks. He worked at elmhurst queens which is like the episode crazy. Yeah so he was he. Rick basically runs that year. I don't wanna misrepresent what his title is wherever it runs the er in elmhurst queens and he dislikes. Stop texting me back. Like five weeks went to a super like warzone dark place. Then it was scary here. I mean it's been scary but that beginning when it was like every five minutes. He heard an ambulance outside. Your apartment was like oh yeah well. They've on thirtieth street in. Nyu hospital was the end of my block continent and they pulled up the trailers. Remember those big white trailers out so they had that was in my neighborhood big way trailer pulling up to the hospital. I haven't been in the city in so long. I was watching a movie or something today where somebody was walking through new york city and i was like i'm miss new york. It's like right out my window. But i haven't walked around in it in a while. It's weird out here. I wore a clown suit on. Friday saw that and i saw i saw how many people were like no mask and it was like bro and i'm doing a bit damascus. Deir but did that. And i was like you covered the red nose. You might not know. He's a clown. I did the show and after the show i was like. Let me just walk. The streets of new york reaction is as a clown right. No one cared no one. New york's probably the city that's mostly exactly people are just gonna believe relieved to see you. There like does dozer backout not even comet like nothing at all. Yeah welcome like somebody might even strike up a conversation like how are you going through anything you doing. Okay just because they're happy to see you. If i saw knockoff batman asking me to pay him to take a picture with him. I'd be like nice more often. I missed naked elmo whose limbs defers all matted and dirty the come over here naked cowboy and understand your whole thing now for what else should i talk about the john jones. Kobe stuff. I'll tell you about it was like it started out. Super whimsical cheryl do this for a little bit and just like slowly increasing iras but the videos on youtube and those do pretty well and then and then bill left. Espn and john skipper was like hey man we'll give you a radio show and so we had a radio show and let's fill in the radio show and put it on tv two in the morning on. Espn two it really. I remember watching one where like was in a fake bathroom or something and you guys were on john and i was like what is this too in them. What is this it was so we did also much weird stuff. I was a straightjacket for that bit. And then we got like some people were like. Hey health problems. Oh god like. I guess we are making fun of crazy people. This thank my crazy. It was crazy. The utah jazz are gonna win the western conference. Emma crazy like you don't think about sensitivities at the time when you do that and i'm like industry jacket like schering and then you're like wait. That makes total sense. Once people bring it up to god like that's the right. That's the right move though. You can't get it right all the time. A lot of people are unwilling to hear any criticism like that. They're like i need it that way. Your being and it's like no. You're right so again really doing stupid thing about the jazz. Yeah and it was on a two in the morning. And i remember the first time it aired. I was so sweaty and scared us scared of television. I was scared. I was so scared. Katie i was so scared i had the towel that a myself down with because i was going to be on it to in the morning on. Espn two and it was just like. I was so nervous about it. I remember the first time ertan staying up to watch it and just like being so proud and just being like oh my god. I'm on tv and jalen will never forget this. I'm still there. I feel embarrassed now. Because i'm like that. Sounds like me jalen psych. You're going to be famous student. I was like what are you talking about. No he's gonna start recognizing you need to start doing. This is startling to do that. I'm doing this this and that. I haven't gotten this speech from him. What are you have to do dress. Well no you have to say yes to everybody about everything you have to take every picture you have to smile everybody and you have to over tip when you're at places do that anyway. Because i am from a bartender family. Yeah so it's like it's put the everybody's stuff. I'm just not part of my personality. Who can you. You don't do not a yes to everybody guy. Now you're not most people go so jaylen jalen tommy everything about like sort of being on tv and like behalf. Because he's been known since he was eighteen people name their kids after he was the first jalen. He's a very first jalen. Rpg rose went to our fingers today. Such why do you keep bringing it back to. I feel so sad. And i wanna tell him that i feel sad for him but then show went from the night-time to the afternoon to our hour to two now we're on. Espn a couple of others in there but we can skip over him. I feel balanced a bunch for a minute. Yeah we were on. Espn two at night and then espn two in the afternoon for half an hour then espn two in the afternoon for an hour during the pandemic we did a twenty minute show which has never happened before from four four to four twenty on espn right. Yep so we did that from my bedroom in the middle of the pandemic then twenty minute run time.

"Where were we in this. I'm trying to be reminding you of or from supposed to move you on to another thing. I do want your kids. So do which are there things that one twin is better margot can do that. Khloe can't do and stuff that khloe can do that. Margo can't do or are they very similar. I'm always interested. I've never i don't. My dad was a twin. But i didn't. I've never interacted with twins that are growing up. It must be so into while social experiment. You have the exact same parents. You're the exact same age. You're born at the exact same time. But you're you're so same time i don't have to explain that to. Usc section cool all right interest here friday violation. But that's really. I don't know probably your adopted so the people work always. How'd your coronavirus tesco. I think that's technically illegal to ask me actually. Yeah i had more people. Reassessing high told one person that i had corona virus. More people from the company reach out to me. That had reached out to me in months and i was like. Are you guys afraid. I gave it to you zoom. I have not left my house. There's no way i'm not. You don't have to contact tracing. I go here. Can i do my best friend thing. I didn't even know your current affairs yet. Nobody did didn't really you didn't do the virus tweet. No because i was. I look i did. I did everything you were supposed to do. I genuinely haven't left. Partially it was because i had growing up lung issues i had reactive airway disease which means every time i got sick like if you had a bug in somehow gave it to me at work i would even. If your bug didn't involve a cough. I would get a really bad cough so it was like an adding co ed shrimp to any stake at a steakhouse. It was like adding. I added cough to every sickness. So in my head. I'm like that's manageable regular life but if corona virus like i'm worried that maybe it'll be really really bad for me long was In another part of it is i hate. I really never wanted to have to get a test. I heard people describe how much they hated that. I pass out during routine multiple Medical procedures yeah. I pass out a lot a pass. Get my story with needles. Just it's a legit medical condition. But i get very defensive about it because nobody takes it seriously and it is so brand for you because you're such a tough girl not i knew that way. You're like super hard work and stuff. I can get through it all power through katie nolan against all odds do. Oh that's very kind. I'm not i'm terrified. Person scared of being hurt all the time you. yeah but i love people very strongly. I love what i do for a living so much that it's like if i love enough i don't mind if it hurts me but if i don't love needles i don't love them so i do mind if they hurt me. Please stop hurting me. So i started passing out mostly with those in the now. It's at the point. Where if i get my blood pressure taken. 'cause somebody explained to me. Somebody cursed me with knowledge and said that what. That's what's happening when they do that is. They're closing one of your blood like veins and seeing how hard it pushes to reopen. And i was like don't do that. You don't do that now. You pass out on a pass out an eye doctor last year. It just say so. I knew yeah as soon as they put out from a full stand jacoby walking to do something. I just woke up on the ground. You puzzles out. I've always had in my people do it. But i've never passed out. Oh my god. I used to pass out as a kid all the time. Pass out like what happens. You're standing there and all of a sudden just on the floor. Yeah when i was younger it was. Because i would hyperventilate. I would like cry about the pain. And my mama beg. You gotta breather. You're gonna and passed out. And i would just like crumble to the ground now i can breathe now. I mostly do like the whole time but does not relaxed breathing. Some actually tensing up. Either way i think in the in the war of fight versus flight. I think i've proven lighter. I just run a retreat. You're so much less cool than i think with the main menas compliment. You ever get. I guess where you are in my head and where you are when you reveal yourself. Sumi are two completely different than you. It's nice to know you thought i was cool at one sad to know. I've disproven it fully. So there's that but anyway i was really good about not going out just because i knew i was going to hate all of the things involved. It and i didn't need to go anywhere. There is no reason to me goanywhere. They cancelled the show so then. Dan was show's on hiatus. So it's canceled. I you know what. I sang that tune about garbage time for a long time to make myself feel better than i was like essentially cancel. Will you had the intellectual properties of maybe heidi's let's be different host sunday or maybe the same host who's to say anyway. Most with future brings the. Dan is a stand up. Comedian and he you know we started dating a couple of months before this all happened and has been living here since it happened and so weird. It's crazy it's crazy because it's worked out it works. He's he's the absolute best. I love him so much. And it's been fantastic. But i've seen him you know he's been doing stand up for should know the number but guess what. I don't a lot of years i would say eighteen. I think it might be more and like nonstop. That's all the time. It's been his life and he got to a point where he had an hbo special which was his goal was jerry and it was so good it was so good and then this happens in a went from like running to a dead stop and i watched that affect him and then he was like you know people are starting to do shows they have dates and i was at but we need to talk about that. Because i don't want you to go out. And i want you to do your thing but i don't want you to get it and i don't want you to bring it back here that would suck and so. We reached a understanding about it. He didn't he didn't do most of the dates he wanted to do. But every now and then he would do some. I used to make him quarantine at his house and get covid negative test before it could come back then. I realized if he got covid positive test i would go to his house and take care of him along appointed finally the last time i was like you know what screw it. Don't get a test. Just come home. And then like two days later he was like i feel good and then it was my birthday and i found out. I had corona virus on it. Thanks so much and then you know took a week off maybe too. I think i took a week off and find now but it was his gary. Did you ever.

"And he's like you should do it and then we started the show. It was called the jalen. Rose podcast and i did not put my name in. Because he wouldn't let me and be. I didn't think i would. I didn't think i would be doing it. I mean i was just something to get it going in there. Lake this jalen friends southern exactly. Yeah and i'm a producer at the time. I didn't really have aspirations to be talent and that. Now you're now your talent. You feel like talent. No talent no. No you must a little but like i super likely people recognize me. You know what i mean. I kind of overtalked. I'm the okay. Jacobin something hey what's up. What's your name would you grow up. And there's like do people always look. I'm so sorry to bother. You look bothering me. He different experience for me. Because i i also went. Somebody usually has like actually comes up. And says i hate when you can see people looking at you and looking at their phone near like say something you don't. This is very uncomfortable for both of us say constantly feeling. I have a book on my face or something. I'm like what's up. Do you recognize me. Or am i gross. I can't tell but when people used to do it at airports specifically or casinos they be like a love. You and i was like oh my thanks. What do you what do you. What's the thing. How'd you find me. And they were always like loved. Your bill simmons podcast. It was my favorite thing. I'm like oh cool so then and then you started watching garbage time and they were like watching what what house and then i would just be and i would get unnecessarily frustrated. Because they're still saying they like you but it is so funny. How often sports fans would be like a love you. What's my favorite your favorite thing that i've made. Oh bills episode of someone else's podcasts. Talked about myself for an hour. An hour. I remember that when we did in la. When i was passing. i was producing time. Yeah that was starbucks. You'll sat in a back room. Which is a good place to put you and we say goodbye outside of starbucks. She's great know you guys are always so like everyone coming into sports media felt like all right. Everybody knows each other and you don't know anybody and also you might not know the most famous ones because like i said i used to watch sports. I never watched sports tv. Never because it wasn't for me until beetle beetle was an accident. I was my boyfriend at. The time was watching sports nation and i was doing my youtube videos like writing a script and then i laughed at something she said and he didn't and i was like she's a joke just for me on tv. 'cause growing up every time they made a joke. It was like you if your wife won't let you watch football on sundays businesses and just. Espn this is all of sports media. I would always be like yeah. I get why that could be funny. But it could be a lot funnier. They should make much smarter joke about that and they were never going to so i stopped watching it so when i got into sports media was like everybody knows exactly who everybody is. And i'm probably gonna walk up to somebody who's super important and not know and really offend them. So i never i always assumed i was grateful to be there and should just hope you guys even remembered that i was there in the first place so to hear that you and bill simmons were like great is is great. That's no yeah. Will you remember you really funny in it and like it was right when garbage time was launching. I want to remember that you had the name already because big title guy. That's a great seidel as you should own that lets shouldn't you take the intellectual property. I tried complicated than you'd think. Keep it disney. Like am i allowed to have a show with my name on it like it. Can they take jalen and jacoby. Well it's not the wwe. So i feel like you can you. It's just you making it. Your name is good because they can't tell you you can't name a show giacosa. It's like do they own my name lawyers. I came out work coming up with garbage time was we i it. I'm also a name person. That's why i remember where. I was when i thought of garbage. Remember where it wasn't a thought always late always late was brilliant to me because it we were struggling with how to make it feel like a late night. Show when the concept of espn plus. You can watch it whenever you want to look. Oh so it's always late night. And i was like i'm always late to everything and so i was like oh works so i remember that in garbage time was we had meetings about it and i was like we don't have it yet. I know we don't have it yet. More like we should just call it this or this. I wish i could remember any of the working titles. But i started writing lists of any sports term. I could think of and be like could i make this into a pun. That isn't too punny or does this work just on. Its own to name a show. And i realized at that point it was twenty fifteen. I think was like oh. They've all been used. All of the good ones have been used. And then i saw an episode of the league where they were going on and on about garbage bag and i was like garbage time. It's the part of the game when the like points don't matter anymore.

"Nolan okay back to the interview. So you stayed in new york new york and i i was working in development developed. A show called road trip with ron wessler. It was jonathan governor where my friends He i interned with him at the magazine. And we had various co hosts John brown was one of the marianella was one of them And it was a go to a college football game and tape all the tailgating and and stuff leading up to the game and it was a nightly. It was a a daily internet video thing and did that for a while. But i mean that sounds like it should work but with without it took a million year. It took like twenty years off my life. Every weekend working monday through friday and then going college stuff and then like going to the bar a an eating like burgers to in the morning and then working again so it was a lot of that and before that i missed a big one before that Mike and so naro new coach. He was an executive in development during the mark shapiro days and he had a book on his coffee table in his office. Boss move to have like a couch a coffee table in my office. What does it was scoop jackson who i ended up working with later. His book was on his coffee table about sneakers and me and kevin went to red sox game got hammered lansdowne street and back driving back from boston to new york and i said let's make a documentary about sneakers and that ended up turning into a show called. It's the shoes hosted by bob veto on. Espn two because what i call my boyfriend's uniquely and personally strange for me to hear you say who was a legendary new york city Dj who has to listen to when i was in high school and stuff uh-huh now my homie and so we had a show about sneakers. Weekly show us because we'd go into athletes houses and talk to them about sneakers was this. Somebody got cancelled because they had fake sneakers a fabulous. Was that your shadow. We went to new jersey and waited outside of fabulous house for like two or three hours and finally he lets us in and he had some fake jordan's the internet just went nuts. Oh my god and this was like this show is literally like fifteen years ahead of. Its time like right. Now it's like there's a fifteen shows like that but at the time that walks so that what's your face could say like if home blais shows up at a battle housewives of beverly hills daughter. She's the daughter of daughter of hadeed hadeed a daughter of a housewife got. I'm so celebrity. Dumb what woman is. The is the new. She had big big lemon trees tons of lemon trees in her front yard and malibu. She was a euphemism. What are you talking. No no anyone who has a lemon tree has way too. Many lemons don't need them any women's that many limbs yes yolanda feed. No no no. No no. don't remember her name. It says you launder reveals. Her will to g g bella. And maybe you'll london anwar and perhaps that's her on more atlanta housewife rhonda foster. I'm confused look it up later. How about that. So let me fast. Forward it's shoes and then sports nation and then grantland road trip because there's i'm skipping over a lot of stuff well don't and then we get to grantland moved to la two thousand and eleven had that happen. Could you build you me. Bill has been buddies. He was the first person that ever sort of put me a microphone night. He had me on his podcast to talk about reality television. So we talked about reality. Television is podcast. And i was in his backyard in his little tool house because he's rich and he was like. I think that was the house i went to the back. Certainly not where he's still he must live in. Some are very very nice. He's got many many homes and he said why. Don't you come out saying i want to come and do all the podcasts produced. The bs support. I wanted to all the podcast for grant land. You just said that to him. Yes and he said. I don't think that's a fulltime job is what he said to me on there and then what because the plan. He's a writer. The plan was to be print granted writing site and then just sort of like made it into a fulltime moved. La one of the things. Jalen rose came up to us at the after party and said he wants a podcast and bill was like yes. Kim a podcast. And i said let's not give a podcast because i've no idea if he's going to be any good and then he came in and talked to us about it and he said i was like well. Do you have someone you want. wanna co host with. Do you have a friend from the league or like you grew up with or someone that you're cool with anything. He goes what you don't want to do it for him. And i was shocked. I remember exactly where. I was outside of the in downtown. La and i was. What do you mean. Why don't you wanna do it. And he had a manager at the time. Kevin parker who had like listen to me and bill.

"Like. She would make these jokes. That i was like that was really funny and the guy co hosting with her. Whoever that guy is gone coward Like he didn't give her any credit for that. That was very very funny. But she like misdirection reveal and agenda reveals like all these super nerdy comedy stuff. That like you have to think about and like if you start over thinking on familiar with over thinking things if you start over thinking it gets really like nearly comedies like very very mathematical and boring and more rain than left brain if you like get nerdy about it but like i did not have to do any of that. She's just a natural talent powerless. We met coward coward. Story is were in. West hartford maximum. The max's places. If anyone knows west hartford he's got three different places. It's the only place was harvard and conquered. If you eat dinner with him he will eat off your plate. No shot a like. It's his place up does he ask. No no i'll give me a floor plan. So you're sitting next him at a roundtable across rectangle him at a four top. And i had asparagus in homeboy. Just takes his fork and just stabs one of my ears and it stalin since then like whenever league introducing the people are gone out during that period. Like listen like you're gonna go. Dan collins is a be aware. He's going to eat your food. You're aware that it wasn't just a you. Power move. he was doing it with is comfortable with doing all the time. Oh yeah yeah all food off of your table. Yes all the time. Though every meal it was like honestly like everything was communal sharing being off of his plate. No because i would at that point just to be like. We're doing this sometimes when you get like absolute son by somebody like you. Just don't have a response. I worry about that happened to me one. Of course you can. Pandemic spectrum at my house like inequality was the biggest thing during the show in the pandemic. Oh my god. I didn't realize how how internet was until somebody at h. q. I can you pay for the good internet. And i was like what's up chore. So then you pay for the good internet and the guy calm and they've fixing they come and fix it but then the second they leave it goes right back down me an ox. I'll never forget this. I had all of it and this guy named sunday's name was sunday like the ice cream day of week wouldn't ask imagine the day of the week so he comes to my house he goes. Use the bathroom. This is a scapegoats. Yes so so in my living room on the couch and there's a bathroom right there like right close to the couch. He goes into the bathroom. Urinate in. my bathroom does not close the door. What's up doesn't close the door fully. Close the door and he sold me loud. Yes with super loud so sitting there on my own couch. I honestly felt like. I was just being absolutely humiliated in this sunday. You have one of those. Rich people know Doors where it's like. It's a pocket door and my difficult to figure out how to close it or is it just door. This is like a heated son. You yes so. It's like sunday sunday and i'm sitting there thinking like do i say something nasty something. I just sat there and ate it. I am just getting completely owned by this man. That's what concerns me at dinner. Yeah yeah and you never ate off his plate. Absolutely be like sam. And i even like that. But i'm gonna eat it. I'm not coming for your sides and coming for your main course. Meal continue league. Sports nation became a show. What was your role working on it. Producer you're producer. Yeah so and what they did. Is there came this big moment where they're like all right. The shows in bristol. And you live in new york. So why don't you move up to bristol. Connecticut and jamie moved to bristol and kevin wilds moved to bristol and my now wife then girlfriend was a cow. We can make this work. We'll get appear in the city like sure i can live in connecticut. And she's like from l. a. And from what is she doing at this point less fan as well she was working for more men megabit and i decided not to move to bristol and stay in new york city and it was a lifestyle choice that i would say hurt my career. It's hard to successfully. Espn and not spend some time in bristol. That's true that's that is can confirm true. It's just it's the office where everything is is the epicenter of also don't realize it most people don't because why would they. That new york studio while fantastic does not have a control room so if you want to make something in new york you have to get in touch with a control room in bristol and if those are all busy or somebody's not available you can't you can have a wide open studio. Can't make anything because you need bristol. Absolutes took me a wild. I like but i don't understand. There's a camera here and there's a room. Can we please.

"For like three days. Because of you get fired. And then we'll i didn't get fired but i got transferred which at the time they said it really nicely they're like you're not gonna be marketing anymore. Going to be in production okay. Cool cool did they made it sound like as a promotion but like looking back. I'd basically turned it into a promotion biscuit sobering. Sp's i'll give you a quick snapshot espy's development good eighteen months whereas like shared an office with kevin wells. We really did nothing like my god older. You guys then like this twenty five. We were like going out already dressing the way. He was always dressed like that always justin grade and we were doing standup at the time to lots. Want like you may have told me this before. And i reacted with. What's and i'm just again. Because i don't think we went into depth. How long did you do stand up. We were doing me and kevin were doing the open. Mics probably three or four nights a week. Well that's because a lot of people say stand up and they mean that like once a month they would go to an open. Don't count down how we were really doing it and really like i remember one time we were bar none on third avenue and he's gone did one night. Oh tons. i chosen one night and killed in the first one and then they got booed off the stage in the second one. It's like the exact same jokes. Exact same mutation. The exact same energy was just like. How do i get wildly different results from like this same performance. Difference graphic your focus grouping. That's all stand up is thought to focus groups over and over and yes. We're doing that and not not doing anything for the disney corporation providing no value. Just getting paychecks for like years. And we're freelance at the time and they didn't take my taxes out of my paycheck so i would get like the full number because i was freelance and i didn't have had to pay the quarterlies. Always forgot to do to. When i was doing youtube videos here. We are again tax season. Did you pay four times throughout the year. it was like dead. That's how much do. I just save the money. No i did not. Of course not pay rent in jamie. Horowitz came to us and was like they want sports nation was a poll on. Espn dot com. It's been a calm was like the most important website in the world and they had poles and they called it supports nation polls sponsored by toyota. Intuitive said turns into a tv show so then we spent. This is the wild part. We spent like eighteen months developing that show like just like driving up now from bristol. Casting people like really need the details it sounds like to be able to figure out what the show is before you have to put it on now that you have name go from this meeting to finding the people to host it to making it and it. It's it sometimes. It can work but other times it just feels like we it so rushed that it doesn't prioritize the quality of the final product and. That's also just me. I would work on anything until you know. I used to sit and write the script until the minute. I had to be on set because i read the script metric four hours until you were supposed to be onset late. It's because i was still tweaking because it could be a little better. So i am overly that yes. It does feel like now to think that you had eighteen months with no but not only that was just. This open ended development period. Wasn't like hey next. May on the third we're going to launch a show right. Toyota's got some money we need to show just like make it up and when you meet people and go to. La and talk to agents and we drive up and down from new york to bristol constantly just developing the show in the car just like tom. Maybe it's a poll thing and what about the graphics. And how do we do this. We just sat there and really develop for a long long long time. And then one thing you learned from that experience out none of none of it matters like we obsess over the graphics. Meet obsessed over the said. We'd obsessive the format and a block. B block sebok games that we play at the end of the day. What you learn from the experience is like oh you just get me shelbyville and like it's like a talent is variable. You know what. I mean like the variable that will sway the success or the the the quality of the content is the human beings not the stuff that the producers bill wolf called her a universal donor of chemistry once. And i was like a. That's the nicest compliment and be. It's the most accurate compliment for beetle. It was like you could put her in any panel and she could make everybody else better she. She is a natural complement alert. Is both you and her. Have this like because. I said i did stand up for like three years so i learned how mathematically to try to be funny both of you and beetle. Like have that without like thinking or trying. That's how i got it what it was like. What sparked me wanting to do this. I'd never seen anybody do at the way. Michelle did like. She would make these jokes. That i was like that was really funny and the guy co hosting with her. Whoever that guy is gone coward Like he didn't give her any credit for that..

"You make lots of bad stuff. You look in the mirror. Oh wait like the wrong decision here. This wrong decision there. That decision there so you can sort of see in the seed of sprout phase that this is not going to be a good healthy plant. So i've sort of gotten good at doing it wrong so many times that i can sort of see early on in the stages of where it's going to end up like yet was that natural or was that a conscious like study your failures and learn from them and move on or was it just like oh overtime. I've just kind of accidentally learned it. Like i think i'm i wanna say like i want my super ego. Wants to be the person that's like. Oh yeah that was totally natural just over time you just of get this instinct thing. But it's not it's much more mathematical technically that's your ego and your superego is less ler should be. I don't know it's. I get confused when i use words from old. Smart people can't spell wrote. I love philosophy. I hate when people are like. Oh gee is that heidegger. And i'm like i don't know who you are. One letter away from being very offensive to me. Is that what you meant. What's the worst thing you've ever made. Ooh oh god. Oh god and i apologize to. Anyone actually worked on this show but you might not remember. This show is called unite. Oh to unite. Well it was so what i did. The worst thing that i did i didn't unite was actually a good show but what i did is a name. Let's let the people know what. Espn like late night. Show so they called it unite. Yeah titles titles will get you anywhere. They spell it. Nit or ghg it okay so titles will get you anywhere shot to the fact that this is your first time back on the podcast since the very first episode episode zero. Wow isn't that funny. That was fun we made it. This far. Anyway story unites the worst thing. I've done and the show itself was fine. Right shouts marianel was on. It showed her. But i made the pitch tape like the pilot for it and we rented this house in l. a. And oh god. I'm gonna forget some names but like jas your own. Jason corbin was involved and dan from The college football podcast was involved ensure you know dan but like it was. The single camera shot that went through this house. It was like. Hey i'm jason corbin and i know the latest and sneakers and pop culture and then like the camera would pan to somebody else. Hey i'm dan. I got all the staff that you need on up at night going through the analytics and it's like someone else's like hey look i'm mary ellen i keep the whole thing together and i remember making this pitch tape and i was proud of it. It's so embarrassing. Speak this into a microphone. But i remember i had. Dvd's of it. And i sent one to eric ryan home who you know. And he's like this guru brilliant guy. And i was proud of it and i sent it to him. He lacob He's like so like. What is the audience for this. The show or like the tape. He's like i don't know like sweetheart. Yeah he's such a sweetheart what's the what is the. What is what is this. And i remember eastern questions. We start asking those questions. I started like realizing. Just how bad that thing i made was. Oh man because you can't see it when you steal it you literally cannot see it and i remember just being like oh my god look. I washed it. Back after. Talk with eric and i still texted to to this day about fifteen years ago in that pilot and i watched it back after i talked to eric and i was like this is just trash like all. These people are saying things. But they're not saying anything And why is this in. A house is a great sign. That you've come very far since then because you make something then and you're like this rules and you watch it now and you're like you. I would be so mad if somebody handed me this. Oh yeah oh yeah. And that's not even. I've made all kinds of trash television. What's your view. This might be too on the spot. Don't say what's your favorite thing you've made or like what's the thing that you look at fondly and you're like that ruled that was fun to make or if you like way it came out or lake. Dow is easily grantland degraded land blah blah. I did all the video and audio for land and we did cray we did. Nba preview with jalen bill where we went through every single team and there is like seven or eight minute youtube videos. We had a youtube channel time and it just it was funny. It was smart and it was just very of the moment. I'll say maybe like a few years ahead of its time. And they were like wildly popular every everyone would get like a half. A million views like bled into each other and it's just like it was jaylen being jalen and building bill. And and we edit them with like at the time like this is gonna sound so stupid now in twenty twenty one but like twenty twelve. We're putting like. Hey let's put this guy's head on like this movie right now. It's kind of like everybody. That on their phone has lapped me. And i'm like actually. I don't know how to do that anymore. That in my cat. I'm not a cat videos and now see people editing. I'm like what did you push button. Was that you just went up and something happens. Yes and that was sort of the when it was it was a hit. You know what. I mean being a musician. It's a houston. You may relatable for me. That's good that's a good metaphor. We had hit the creator legit. Hit belt really good. It's like this that you can put up in like in in your own mental yard and yeah it's like there's there's there's abandoning rafters in your brain. I've got after brain. Yeah i've gone after his memory. Anything else on it. That's worth mentioning that you wanted. Shut your. I think you should at least tell people every single. Espn thing that you've touched. Because i don't think people understand how many things you were part of because when you're not on camera it's easier so i've always on camera i was on i was a pa on the espy awards after espn. The magazine chessel. yeah. I've never been fired but i was very close because they had this thing they can espy's like insert. So this is when paychecks worth thing you'll get mailed a paycheck. I used to do that up until last year. So that's weird yet okay. Plays don't need on your phone now. I would always go check cashing play. Do you want to pay your bills. No i don't. I love very tender. I need the cash in my pocket. God that is so you were you. Were a on. Espn add an insert in everyone's paycheck. And i worked with these women and they told me to send things. American express not fedex. Own rachel mack was my boss told me to beck's them so i- everybody's paycheck the entire. Espn inserted this thing. You were you in charge of this as an important thing like stupid stuff. And then i sent it american express instead of fedex and there was a snowstorm in saint. Louis where their hub is. "Distance. That simply with an i will too is. So it's s. I am l. i. Safe dot com slash nolan. Okay let's do a paw hello frosted mini wheats. Welcome to sports the podcast into the question mark but when you think about it it's mostly rhetorical I'm katie nolan. It's a thursday podcast. So that means a one of my friends here and we're gonna talk about. Why like them and then you know. Maybe i don't try to understand the world. Is they see today. That friend is david jacoby. Hi david hello katy. What's happening nothing you. This is a. I'm very excited. Thank you for doing this. But this is going to be very different from all the other ones. Not just because. I think i probably know you less than i know everybody else. I've interviewed so far. But you're at work. I'm at work. So what i do. Is i wake up in the morning. Put clothes on shut up. And then i say goodbye to my family and go to a place now work there and then say goodbye to the people at work with and then go home. Isn't it crazy. That sounds like a fantasy world like oh that would be cool. That would be good. It's not how going to antarctica. No have other relationships instead of putting all of your eggs in the basket of the one. I say goodbye to people. I didn't do that for straight months. I would never buy longtime. It feels great up to say hello to people realized yesterday because i had to run an errand that my small talk ability or like threshold is way lower than it used to be a really if i get into a third small talk i'm like i don't wanna do this on the opposite. I talked with an uber driver for forty minutes yesterday. I see that that's not small talk. Forty minutes isn't small talk. I'm talking like you're in line at the cvs and someone's like are you in line and you're like yeah and then like crazy weather on you're like i don't i can't there's too much going on right now sir. I wanna talk to you about the weather. It's not that crazy here. have you heard about texas. We should talk about politics. Do too deep too fast. Well anthony in detroit is very hung up on his ex girlfriend who cheated on him years ago and he's still talking about it. That was uber driver. Oh i was gonna say you were in. Detroit was why. What are you doing traveling and going to work. You're gonna feel bad now. I went to jalen rose's mouth zero. Oh i did feel bad. I didn't know she passed away. She did he love to hear from you. I i don't have his number. I would never ever have jalen number because gills numbered. I don't deserve his phone number. I also assume he doesn't send his own text messages. He's got somebody answers them no he. He doesn't send his responded text messages but he's a big north. I'm a huge jalen. Rose fan which i didn't I'm not. I don't want to spend your interview talking about jalen as you're the guys ever done that before all the time. But that's what he is so conned. He really you feel so much more important than you. Are that why you have a show with him. First question makes me feel really good. He's genuinely generous kind person like once a month. They'll just order food for the building. Pablo and i talked about this in my interview of pablo win would have just random. You'd walk in there. Be cowgirls see her horse and it just felt like wanting you to have today. Four hundred fried pickles. He's the best but you're better just for today. At least i can't text him as also take away from that so tell you. Text him that. I love him and i'm really sorry. That's such a bummer. Real bummer me. And there's so much dying this year it's like all over the place to my black suit has gotten a lot to run this year. Man start yet is a good start. You brought it up So you're at work. You go to work and you get to have interactions with other people. How how has your overall. How has your pandemic ben assuming that were that includes now so from like when they cancelled those basketball games to now i've noticed a lot of people have had like some people have had time to get way too deep myself and then other people are like not just want to know what the experience did to you because everybody went through something and we can all learn from each other's we grants. I would say that everything's graded on like a pandemic curve. People how are you. It's like the truth of the matter is absolutely awful awful. I'm terrible right now however graded on the pandemic curve like. I'm pretty good. Probably better than average eloquent way to put that because we're at the beginning of the pandemic everyone's like how do i respond to the. How are you text. And now it's like you've got to adjust your for the pandemic. i was definitely. It was definitely in mid-march. This'll be cool. We'll be inside for ten days. I'll watch tiger king. It was going to admit anything yet. Everything's gonna return to normal two weeks. I swear to god like everything's shut down. I was talking about the kids. Be back in school in like a month. Let's let's sign them for summer camps. I really thought it was going to be like a little short thing. And i've completely stopped predicting. Sometimes i go down in this deep dark hole remnants like. I'll never not wear masks. My kids will never go to school again like this year to just accept. It's like if. I just accept that then when it doesn't then when something when i don't have to wear masks when the kids can go back to school it'll be like what a lovely treat instead of being like. I needed to be now. I need it to be now and he disliked wearing this mask. Need the kids to get out of the house like. I just have to accept that like well. This is reality now until somebody finally does something about it. It's also the pandemic used to be a finite amount of time you know how is your pandemic in your question. Used to be a one single instance. But now i've had like eight different chapters of the. That's another said the same thing. Day where i was like i used to just be able to say during the pandemic but now there's phases. There is the phase where i watched the pandemic like it was sports and i watched the news channels and was like oh god any updates any updates oh god that death tolls rising and then it got to a point where i was like. I'm not doing this anymore. Listening to a podcast called corona virus. Daily oh my god on. Npr listen to it every day. It was just like did you see minutes of corona virus daily. They changed the name to consider this. I think so. I was like oh. This is not exclusively corona virus content. That i'm out i'm out. I don't want to consider anything except corona virus. That's all i'm just. Yes but yeah. I've had multiple phases of this pandemic. And it's been That's so weird because it feels like honestly when we first found out. Mike can you imagine if they gave us two weeks off from work like a universal snow day for two weeks.

"With twenty twenty now officially in the books we're taking one last look back at the year in sports and replaying our very favorite episode of twenty twenty. In which is is just white she went and got him checked out and it turned out that he had cancer anywhere so he had it in the back he was a kid who spent seventy five percent of his young life in the hospital constantly getting aggressive chemotherapy or a life of sickness and never got better. How did mow become such a big sports fan. It came from his mother sans e who made no bones about it. I'll be back forth lethem level. When did move. I come onto the radar of baltimore. That voice was coming out of this little boy in a wheelchair who conveyed nothing of the pain and thorough medical procedures that he had already been through never had anything negative to say about anyone. He never talked about any issue with body nation. Change us old. You're already in trouble. Nationwide think so. I'm not the. I'm not kidding. And his legend grew within the community. Three Patriots selected to the Pro Bowl

"The Patriots were selected to the Pro Bowl stuff on Gilmore, Matthew Slater and Jake Bailey. Not on that list. Cornerback JC Jackson, who is second in the NFL with eight interceptions. Just one behind the league leader. Jackson not being voted in has some other players around the league, voicing their frustration on Twitter like Philadelphia Eagles corner, Darius Slay, who was a three time pro bowler himself. He made Jacoby Meyers tweeting in part eight picks and didn't make the Pro Bowl. Wow. Bill Belichick, meanwhile, says that Jackson is a very talented player that keeps on getting better, very double locate the ball when he turns around, and I'm gonna fax the ball and turns around confined in located. I wanna see more of those videos if your child knows the Jalen and Jacoby intro, send those videos to Jalen and Jacoby on Twitter, and especially on Instagram and just understand we might use it on the show and our goal, and we talked about this from the beginning is to give the people what they want. I'm talking about the Toronto Raptors out one ring combined hosting Hosting you. hosting the Denver, Nuggets Yoka Mitch was dealing. He has so many times in this game Yokich was dealing had so many times in this game. And they were just close at the end it came down to his shot Bank account. It was still a good shot from the joker. But it was close and the Denver Nuggets. One making them now tied for first place with the clippers. Jalen, I'm gonna start. I don't believe in the nuggets. I don't know why even still I just don't think they're deep enough. But they keep winning games there in first place. Can you do you see them continuing this hot run you doing the media thing when you say you don't believe in them? In other words, you don't think they can win the championship. They won't. I don't think they host the playoff series. I think they slipped like the sixty. I think they have what it takes to host the playoff series, especially once they get will Barton back and for those that have been following the best taste making show in the industry this one.
