"Looking for a back that I could trust that's physical. Then when javonte finds his way, he's back in that mix. I'm looking for one more playmaker. That's probably going to have to be through the draft. Receiver, if I hope it's KJ handler, but I can't trust that it is at this point. I just can't. So 5 to 6 new starters offensively, but I'm not giving up on if you want to be physical. I'm not giving up on reisner and bulls in that situation. Because that is one thing they do really well together as run block. Okay, where are you getting this right tackle? Because I just feel like it has been, I mean, you just rattled off all the names. One, retread after another. I can't think of a right tackle that they got in free agency that has been a great physical, long-term option, but again, you don't have a ton of draft picks this year. So where are you overpaying? Where are they getting this right tackle this off season Troy? Well, ideally it would be in the draft. The problem is, if you get Sean Payton, your trade in the way of your first round pick. Right. And that pick is the niners pick. So we all understand. So it's probably going to be somewhere between 28 and could be 32. Right. They could win the Super Bowl. They're that good. So it's not a great draft for tackles. The kid from Georgia, I think it's Broderick Thomas Broderick. He's probably going to go off the board at 20. That makes it difficult. I would rather have if it gets to that point, I would take that tight end from Notre-Dame, my baby Gronk. And pair him in my run game of physicality, but where do you get it? You're probably going to have to look at, I think it's a kid from San Francisco. It's going to be a free agent. The problem with free agency and tackles. And we've lived it here. Most tackles that are good, don't reach free agency. You're a free agent for a reason. And you're overpaying for mediocrity. And juwan James, it was worse. You know, we're paying for a guy who didn't play. They went down that, but so where would they get it? You can see, teams find starting tackles in the second and third round. This idea has to be a third rounder. That's where you'd have to trust your scouts and find a guy. You look across the league, you see guys that start as tackles that are second and third rounders, I think Dallas has one this year that Phil then has been great for them. I mean, greater good. I mean, how do you cross it was the first round of Seattle. But you have other guys, you can find. So draft would be a priority. Yeah. The free agencies before the draft, I would protect myself and bring in a veteran that I felt like could compete for the starting job and then try to win the draft, but it's not easy.

"Maybe outside of Quinn miners. And I guess if you think Garrett Bowles will come back healthy, then he could probably stay. Everybody else, I'm fine with the clean sweep. If you can replace them. Or you've got to change the coaching in the offensive line. I seriously think they need a realistic number of what 6 new offensive linemen. Probably 5 and other chiefs rebuilt their entire offensive line on an off season and so did the Bengals. You're going to overpay if you do it through free agents. You'd have to be a mix where you try to get you'd prefer to get the tackle in the draft because you're going to overpay for a tackle and free agency. And that pick that they're going to get from the niners now looks worse every day that the one they got for Chubb. But you try to look for a right tackle in the draft and then you're going to have to draft at least two interior players is my guest or maybe you go two tackles and one interior player. But and if one of those interior players for me has got to be a center guard combo guy because that, again, they're not good enough. They're not good enough there. Some of it is coaching for me. Some of it is coach. The thing about balls is they could move on from him too the way his contract is set up, but I don't think you could have I don't think you're going to be able to replace your bolt tackles and an interior player like four starters. I don't think you'll be able to do that in off season. Maybe, but if you do it that way, Chad, you're going to dramatically overpay for a tackle in free agency. As they've done, whether it was menelik Watson, whether it was juwan James, I mean, that's tackles in free agency you have to be really careful. Well, one, it's tragic that we're on Black Friday day after Thanksgiving and we're talking about the off season overhauls already because we know what this season is.

"Yes please there now. They did lose right. Tackle juwan james. He blew out his achilles working away from the team. So they cut him unsure if he's gonna get his money back. Their skill players arm matters right the skill players around whoever ends up eating the quarterback. And we're taping this a couple of weeks before the season starts between drew lock and teddy bridgewater. I think if you're looking for the conservative angle. Obviously you want teddy. Be to be the starter. But drew lock and again he was early. It was preseason going up against the vikings to look good luck. Just passing the i. It was important and again you look at you kind of go into some of the deeper numbers on twenty twenty only forty nine percent of locks throws over fifteen yards were catchable fifth-worst in the league but he has a thirty nine drops which was yes was the worst in the league. Jerry judy eighteen percent drop rate k j hamblur fourteen percent drop rate. I mean caja handler. Just a bomb. They had a minus sixteen turnover margin. Close games in three point games there one and three that you haven't even mentioned that. Have the second best tight end in the nfl from iowa no fan. Yes that george cadle. Tj hodkinson number. one george. Kendall number shrank the schedule based on the win. Totals seventh easiest fifth toughest last year and they also got the short end of the kovic. Stick a couple of times them and they started kendall hidden for a game. So i mean they really if you factor in maybe they saw the rest of the trivia question. What other three. Quarterbacks started for this denver broncos team last year decker kendall hinton a wide receiver was one of them. Trevor la tra drew lock. Sorry drew lock The guy driscoll driscoll who Guy only win in the first six games of the season brett rippin. Yeah so there are so many reasons to want to think. This team could Regress in a positive fashion that was year one with shurmur to we talked about this in college. But like not having the off season the same way new offense Shurmur has been kind to mediocre middling quarterbacks before case keenum you know so this this has a recipe now. I will say drew lock experience well and drew lock to be fair. He raised flag. He did injuries throwing shoulder early in the season last year. That's probably one of the injuries that may be again. Quarterbacks take a step forward in year two yeah and maybe he would if he wasn't injured. Don't think he's a good quarterback. Though i'd also start the season with bridgewater they could be attend team. Here's what lock it's if they start with lock goto and five. Then go to bridgewater eight nine i. It's a very unpredictable. Here he was five and eleven with no defense in carolina last year. That's also true and this defense should be really good. We saw patrick tan dominant west. I think their their defense. It's tough to find holes in this defense and of chubb and von miller. That's been the issue. They haven't really been healthy together for extended periods of time often of line. You know not amazing but should be pretty solid. And they added defenders darby well and that's the big one right because he picked up guys who can play his system vic fangio. We talk a lot about brandon. Staley coming from the rams to the chargers and how he deployed some concepts very similar. Oh vic fangio the guy he learned from. And i think it's important in those defense is to have a guy that you can lock down. So the fact that ser tan and fuller show up two guys that excel in man coverage. It's gonna let this team do some things. I think they were the thirteenth overall defense last year anyway. Yeah they were the eleventh past the anyway they are the best red zone past the anyway Vic fangio is a trustworthy guy when it comes to putting out a defense and so you know we teddy bridgewater does seem like a safe way to get to eight or nine wins. But i do think that drew lot flashing in the offseason is gonna make it difficult and guess what you can always you can always go to teddy. He's gonna be ready. There isn't let's will always take your call last. They go the lady. Just send a over to teddy skill positions around. He's that six. That's the booty. Call the skill positions around the quarterback. Yes we're all first and second round picks first round. Pick jerry judy portland sutton second round town fant. One first round pick k- hamblur second round and maybe drew lock is just average but a average drew lock with this good defense with devante williams things really gonna pop and with scott myers that can that can possibly take take his game. I a little below average though. Okay i mean last year the most interceptions right or he had something like sixteen. That sounds like we like sean. Was i agree with you. I don't know if drew lock becomes any even if drew comes out in his a slightly below average quarterback with melvin gordon and davante williams the hand the ball to with the receivers around him with a with a offensive coordinator who has produced with a underwhelming quarterback before case keenum. Yeah i and a guy. Here's the other one more thing like he's he. Drew lock to his credit is aggressive. He's not gonna be that. Check down guy from twenty twenty two thousand nine hundred nineteen or twenty nine two thousand twenty. He went from thirtieth in aggressiveness..

"Really a great plan in place. Yeah it really seems like there wasn't much of a plan at all brady. And here's the thing is. I wish that the nfl would protect these guys win. They're working out offsite regardless of if there's lot going on or not because this is the exact same thing if there wasn't a hold out but a guy would just working out on his own on saturday and get off site then. The team is obligated to protect them. That's how it's always been so this goes beyond just the whole holdout. I wished the nfl would protect their players in situations like that but brady. It's the nfl pa job to negotiate that in their contracts when they create that cb and the nfl. Pa did not do that last year. So this this is a big flop on the nfl pa. It doesn't certainly doesn't look good for the nfl as well by not protecting their players. But the nfl pa after not a negotiating that last year in the cba. Now they're coming out and saying okay now we need you to do this in the nfl. Sin what do you mean. You didn't negotiate. You could have given us something last year if we're if we're going to give you this so it's a really bad situation especially with the broncos being hit the hardest really. I mean that. The two biggest injuries with sean and john james coming with the broncos and it's tough so now you see a lot of people and a lot of players majority of the players today brady are showing up for phase two of the offseason workout program. Because once guys are in the building they're protected. This is such an interesting dynamic too. When you look at everything what is the endgame here I'm with you. I want my players to work out right i. I want them to be as fit as possible. I don't want them to lose any ground lifting and cutting and working on all those things you want ultimately to go year round if you want to be the best. What we're always told us that athletes never really stop. Maybe they take a week off or something but at the same time do they need to be at the facility to what what do you think the middle ground will be next time around when they when they sit at the table because that might be the first thing to come up i it it very well may be and i think what the nfl pa is trying to do here is. They're trying to short ten week off season workout program which runs from april until the middle of june. They're trying to shorten it. They're really trying to get rid of it but that's not going to happen so i think what they're trying to do is shorten it to just ota's and when we talk about that can sometimes get confused with the entire offseason workout program but as is really the last four weeks. It's the last month when they're actually practicing. And i think that's what the nfl is trying to do is they. Let us get away from the other six weeks where we're just working out. We can work out on our own. We can work out in florida. We can work out with our own people around the world and that's what the nfl pa pushing for but then in order for them to to knock that off they're also going to want the nfl to protect them when they're not working out so what we may see the compromise where You know if players are working out doing approved workouts from their teams adolf site locations. Then they're protected but they may not protect them. If they're you know skiing in the alps or you know doing other activities. But i think that's where we'll find middle ground but brady. I don't know if we're going to be finding middle ground until there's a new cba which isn't for another decade. I'm with you. I don't know where where they're gonna fight. Because even even then you know you're gonna ask managers coaches scouts. Whatever scouters to to basically trust that the players are are working out as hard as they believe. Or what have you on that side of it to me. There's so much gray area with this. And yeah i'm with you i. I don't know how you kind of come to the middle on this. Yeah i totally agree. But it's something that is going to be a big talking point now. We see today the nfl pa coming out with push back for to to the broncos specifically saying how important is that the broncos take care of john james and brady every indication. Is that the broncos are not going to pay juwan james that money And set a precedent there. And i think that's a big reason. Why you're seeing over seventy broncos show up to face too today. Well this'll be a very interesting. That's a big story. The ongoing aaron rodgers stuff continues to be the story. Zack what's the what's the zakho meter. Tell us today on there. And roger situation takes another hit over the weekend. I believe someone Someone a close to close to the packers said that if the packers were to trade aaron rodgers they would want a quarterback in return. And i've said this whole time brady that that's what the broncos don't want to hear what the broncos won a here is that the packers of jordan love the rolling with him as their quarterback one and they just want every piece to surround him because the broncos have pieces they have pass rushers. They have wide receivers. They have draft picks. They don't have a sexy quarterback to give. And so you look at the other two teams that have been on aaron rodgers wishlist the oakland or the las vegas raiders. Would derek carr. That's way better than derek cars way. Better than what the broncos can offer. And then you also look at trae lance out there in san francisco and san francisco would be willing to move on from him. That's a huge piece. The third overall pick maybe one of the guys with with the highest upside that we've seen in the draft in a very long time. The broncos can't compete with that and so that takes a hit if the packers do wanna quarterback in return because if they get teddy bridgewater that means that the packers love jordan love and just one a veteran there with them if they get drew lock. Well that's their viewing him as a backup potential project in order to be a starter. But those other quarterbacks. I mentioned those guys that you're building your organization around and that's just something that the broncos can't compete with so that's why it's taken a little hit today and what's interesting about the drew lock thing and again. Last year obviously erased any of that want from green bay but they were interested in drew drew. Lock two years ago so if it wasn't for last season if he would have had just like maybe an average season i think the talk would be going crazy right now because green had that interest but because drew lock season was so bad all all those hopes and dreams are out the window and when nappy something is if drew lock was viewed as a big piece in this trade. And then you're talking about maybe you're trading. Two first round picks drew lock. And that's it instead of three first round picks couple of second round picks bradley chubb and or jerry jeudy for aaron rodgers. And so this was one year ago when drew lock just went four and one when he just had seven touchdowns and three interceptions. That's when his price or his value was as high as it could be and like you said now brady. Unfortunately it's not very high non boy. This is going to be a very interesting ongoing saga here. But i keep coming in. If if rodgers is to be moved your rights act does kind of feel like. It's going to go somewhere. How the question is i. Suppose where's green bay. Do they feel they feel like all right. We lose aaron rodgers. But if we get a derek carr kind of situation there we feel like.

"And you got an uphill battle. I know you got a shortcut. You gotta cheat code and Trevor Laurence. Maybe Trevor Laurence is so good. Urban Meyer can do silly stuff like this. Trip and fall and a winning record and Ah great NFL coaching career because he's got a quarterback. That's just gonna be marvelous. That's too good to screw up. That's too big to fail. Maybe I mean, that's possible. I really like Trevor Laurence, but I'm not breaking any new ground there. I don't think he's gonna be a bust. But I think his head coaches Kuku right now. Tim Tebow is a tight end. Who does that benefit. Who wants to watch him embarrass himself Who wants to go? So wherever they're staging training, campus it over in England. Is it across the pond? Is he eating fish and chips in the morning and having ah English breakfast tea and then getting his butt kicked in practice. Who wants to watch that? Who thinks Urban Meyer shows up scratches his head and says, You know what? Eureka! Let's put Travis et en it wide receiver. He thinks this is a good idea. Some coaches, some people in lightning to stay in their lane. Urban Meyer. Go do TV Go Coach in college football team Go take the go Take the USC job when I become when it opens up, Don't go toe. I'll go to the Jaguars and embarrass yourself and embarrassed Tim Tebow because that's what's happening here. Tim Tebow as a tight end. Seriously. What's the end game that he's doing? Jump passes against the Colts. If you wanted a mentor ship program. Trevor Laurence. If Tebow in Urban Meyer, our neighbors, which I keep hearing that they are, I have trouble. Lawrence eat at Urban Meyer's house once a week and invite Uncle Tim over for dessert. Haven't talked to him then. Have him throw the football in the backyard together Now, you might. You know that might be tough, though that might be against the rules. Some of the provisions in trouble Lawrence's contract cause you know that Tebow is going to throw the ball over his head and at his legs, and he's going to go run and chase it. You know, there's not gonna be a lot of spirals there when Tebow is throwing it back to Trevor Lauren, so that might not be The best way for them. Have a chat. And for Trevor Laurence to pick Tim Tebow is brain. I would We just saw an NFL player Juwan James. Get hurt on his own time and get cut, You know, having forbid Tim Tebow and Trevor Laurence go have a catch with one another and Trevor Laurence strain something trying to jump up and catch one of those errant duck throws. Them cheap from Tim Tebow. We wouldn't want that. That would be really stupid. So look, the Jaguars My goodness. It's been so long since we've talked about them with a straight face. We've actually looked at them as NFL team that's worthy of some national pub here on CBS Sports Radio, But you can't help yourself. You don't know whether to cry or laugh when you look at this, Urban Meyer We got excited about Urban Meyer refund He hired a coach. He had to immediately fire He's putting Tim Tebow a tight and he's putting travesty. TN it wide receiver. That stupid like a fox. I think that's just plain dumb. I've already got people tweeting me saying the Tebow thing. Is a win win. Explain it to me, then tell me all that's a win win. Who does that benefit. Fans who want to go to training camp or watched him play. 20 snaps in the fourth quarter of a third preseason game. That's a win. I think it's a joke. And it's not even that funny 855 to 1 to four CBS 855 to 1 to 4 to 27. The Jags are making players change positions again. Is this the mark of a good coach? Urban Meyer? We know so many of you out there. In big places where were clear, But we're on the air right now. Ohio and Florida and college football fans really nationwide have strong takes on urban Meyer. What is this guy doing? Is he making a mistake by bringing in Tim Tebow is a tight end. Making travesty. Tana wide receiver. What's he gonna do next? Make make Trevor Laurence and inside linebacker. 855 to 1 to four CBS 855 to 1 to 4 to 27. I'd love to hear from you next. And That I had. I, you know. Wouldn't supposed be playing basketball. So I mean, I had at that point determined So I told him What what had happened. I came back. I miss most of the preseason. And they came to me in the last preseason game and said, Hey, you got to play in this one. Otherwise we gotta put you on I r so I wasn't ready to go. But I played and was able to get through the preseason game. But they you know what? They were not. I was going to be put it. I was not going to get paid because I've been injured away from the Browns, but that back in those days, I mean, nobody. Everybody went home. You had jobs. Did Ryan Clady get paid when he got hurt away from the pages? I think he did, and I think he got paid or what he'd done to that point and what they expected him to do after after that point, and the fact that he'd been one of their very good players. Part of this issue was Juwan James. You know? It just hasn't worked out. They gave him a three year a lot of money deal and he's played 63 stamps. No, it's not his fault. He got hurt this time. He's not been able to be on the field that then he opted out okay with covert. Um, there were coaches. I know for sure that felt like he could have gone back in and played. His rookie is initial year with the Broncos after that knee injury in the first game in Oakland. And he just didn't feel comfortable going back in. All right. I usually side on the on the player's side with respect to injuries, because coaches always want to get you back out there. And you know what? If the guy's hurt, you guys hurt, But the fact is, he's got three years of a deal for these played 63 snaps. That's part of the issue. I think with this I agree. 100% Real quick texture. Three or three. This is not on the Broncos. He followed the direction of the NFLPA so he should look to the n F l P A for the money. That's kind of a good point. "Have to pay because he got injured off site. If you get injured away from the facility or not in the field of play, you don't get paid for your injury. And so the NFL sent out a memo. Hey, guys, just say, you know, little reminder. Maybe you want to be at the facility. And the P A. Got so angry about this saying that's a scare tactic and that now there's gonna be a war. And wouldn't this be amazing if this was the spark that lit the fuse? That set this whole thing on fire. I hope it's not obviously let's hope that football does not have huge labor strife. But this is both sides flexing and I have to say I side with the league here. If you are the union and you're saying with the league shouldn't be flexing on this, and everybody knows this rule anyway. Well do they does every one of your players understand? That if they get injured, working out on their own At the at the high school field that they're running on or at their home gym or at their whatever their crossfit place down the road or whatever do they realize that any injury suffered there even while working out? Does not get them paid because my guess is there's a bunch of players that saw this Juwan James Story said. Oh, crap. I should think about going to the facility now. So I'm siding with the league here because this is collectively bargained. They don't have to do anything That's not legally in their contract, and they're reminding everybody. Yes, maybe to scare tactic as well. But do you want to earn your cash for getting injured? You should get injured here. Well, we're watching you. So I said to the lead on this book says our headlines, Mr Boggs, what we got. We got Albert pool host today We knew the end was near. "See the barbecue? You know, e. I got this. I got it. I got it. And I found that if I went with my my boys The off color jokes stopped. So now I got cheap haircuts for the three of us quick, convenient and I didn't have to put up with the stuff that made me uncomfortable. And I thought like that This is great. And then at some point I realized I am supporting someone who I know is offensive and would be offensive to a great many people if they if he had an audience with them. And I'm using my kids is a shield. Yes. And so we we stopped. I stopped doing that. Finally I got I grew a kind. But at first like the first time I went, it's one of these things that you know, looking back, and I want to defend myself a little and say it just got worse and worse and worse. But then it stopped. When the kids went with me, and so then we kept going little while but eventually I just decided, like this is a horrible idea. I don't wanna do this anymore. So like you're giving me this credit for being principal, then, like I, you know I am. I am And you grew a conscience and I'm still I'm young. I'm younger than you are. There's still time for me with one business interaction of mine. I mean, I did eventually stop going. I mean, but it took a while, because convenience and cheap trumped the stuff that was offensive for awhile for me. I'm not proud of that. And then I used my kids to keep it away from me so I could keep going. What do you figured it out? You got to where you needed to be? Yes. Eventually, I did get to where I needed to be. Yeah. There it is. You see about this tackle for the Broncos, Juwan James. Today. So the report is that he Tauron Achilles. Which is the year you know, usually And he did so. Away from the team facility. He was working out somewhere. Not that wasn't the Broncos. Facility. And so Adam Schefter says that that might mean that the Broncos convey void The contract. Off one. Yeah, Tough one. Yeah, right. So s so you know. He could have been riding a dirt bike. They don't know because he wasn't in their facility. Right? Well, it's just working out, but I don't know what exactly he was doing. Off one, but but that could be a cover story, right? I mean, if you're gonna if you trusted the guy, you wouldn't terminate the contract. So there's some I would think their skin some question of the organization's mind or this is just the guy they want to get out from under. You know, Otherwise you wouldn't do anything I don't think but yeah, I don't know. I don't exactly know. He's a known player like I've heard of them to one James. They sent him to a four year $51 million deal last year and only played three games due to a knee injury. So if he just tore his Achilles I mean, that's a tough thing to do to someone. But if they wanted out and feel like this is an opportunity to do it, even if he was just You know, doing squats like in his home gym. Maybe they tried to do it tough business. I think there's a chance that the organization found out that he tore his Achilles working out off site and there might have been fist fist pumps. That bumps pumps? Yes, going in and out of this contract. That's a tough one for the guy. The officer is The sabers. Have the Islanders tonight. Pre game coming up at six. Paul Hamilton will join us. "For me lately? Business and I know that I've known that my whole career One of things you gotta watch got going to do it again, So can't be satisfied with just doing one Chicago every season. I keep going at it. Just one of those things. You gotta roll with the punches. Um, whatever, not do you present yourself. You gotta be ready to take advantage of it. That's kind of what I've done going my entire career and that's why I keep doing so. It's not like my dad's not gonna be handed to me. I'm gonna be handed anyone in this week. Start. You gotta go in there and work that applies to the world That is gonna be hands than anybody in this world. That's always a smart mantra of life. There's a Childress about what? How he says that you know what I mean. It's kind of like Yeah, it is what it is. You know, I understand it. I'm not upset about this. I'm not. I'm not Carson wincing this like when? When Jalen hurts, took his job. I understand it, and he kind of has to And his seven seasons BT he started 16 games one time Now that time was the Super Bowl season for the Sam Cisco 40 Niners, But I mean, since he became, let's they say the guy In in in San Francisco, He started three games 16 in six games. That's it, and he was there. Obviously 2017 after the after the after the trade. And he only started five games that year. But it was five and Oh, right, so it's just kind of. It's hard to like, feel bad for him for not getting his opportunities because he hasn't always been available, and that's the most important skill that you could be. Have for a team is we've always heard just be available. He hasn't been that way. If you're out on the field, you don't have any value. We all know that I got you, but I want to go back to what you said before about how you know he's seemingly okay with it, And they said peace I think it's the opposite. I mean, I'm not gonna I'm not gonna lean too much on inflection or words, though he does strike the proper balance on both. But I think it's the opposite for Jimmy. Because He's been He's three yards from being a Super Bowl champion. And quite conceivably, the Super Bowl M v P and, you know every every time he gets A little. A chance, not a little, but a chance to car about. This is undeniable. You know, NFL legacy, even though I'm not saying all time, great but a truly defined like stamp his career. His knee buckles or something happens Now there's what he's healthy, but now that it's all right now we got the new guy. I think it's the opposite. I think that Jimmy doesn't wake up every day feeling that it's okay if it ended. I think Jimmy wakes up every day, saying Man I am. I am as motivated as ever to to prove to the dissenters. And there's some if not many, that that I am. What people thought I was three years ago. Yeah, but what makes you say that? Because you don't You don't think competitors? Yeah, but I mean, but the reality is he just he hasn't been available around hasn't played This is what it is. Doesn't mean that he's okay with it doesn't mean he's not Jason. It doesn't It doesn't desperately needed or wanted for his own competitive soul. True, But when I hear him say, Yeah, trey lands because coming in, I'm gonna do all I can to mentor him. Yeah, Tom Brady men toward me, and it was a good relationship. It's almost like saying yeah, I understand. This kid's gonna take my job and I'm okay with it. I don't know. I remember this person. This is this is personal to me because they did giant drafted Ron Dayne in the first round, right in 2000 and deservedly cell because I also was hurt a lot, and it's a different position, so it's not really apples to apples here, but I remember when he drafted Ron Day, and the first thing that I was saying was, this is gonna be great for me because it's gonna force me to tea get better. And you know, I want to win my job. I wanna Be that guy that that's that's my instinct was my instinct when I hear Jimmy Garoppolo saying Yeah. You know, I'm gonna help you get better on mentor him that it's kind of feels like he's resigned. T the fact that he's not the guy anymore in San Francisco, and I don't. I mean, I guess I guess it's okay if it works for him. Works for the 40 Niners. It'll be all right, but I don't know I I don't I don't see that ultra competitiveness. When I hear a guy say that I don't think it would have gone to the league without that. Also competitive this coming from where he came from. Yeah, I mean, Jimmy Garoppolo wasn't a slouch. I know he would. Do you know who it was, I know, but he was sick and he was a second round pick. It's not like he was like, 1/5 round pick. I got it. He was picked 62nd overall by the by the by the by the The Patriots, right? And Yeah, he sternal annoys a tiny school, but they've had some pretty damn good quarterbacks come out of there, including Tony Rome. Oh, in a coach and Sean paid so Yes, The expectations probably weren't elite when he came to the door and patriot because of who he was sitting behind. In fact, I don't even remember him being drafted in the second round and full disclosure when he was drafted me and all of a sudden we heard this. This this brouhaha. A couple of years in the Tom Brady was kind of, you know, feeling some angst with his backup quarterback. I was like, Who the heck is Jimmy? Glad I don't know that kid. And then you start the look that guy, he's actually pretty good in college, Just second round pick. Okay. Now I see why Tom Brady's a little bit upset about this, but I don't know. I don't. I don't know where his drive is to be that guy. Maybe it's internal, but I haven't heard it haven't heard him say those things. Which makes me think he's okay with what's happening to him in San Francisco. Let me read this. This is totally different. Just so this sweet from Schefter, and this is why the NFL stinks. All right. On some level, it's the best, but it's It's brutal. So Broncos offensive tackle Juwan James suffered a season ending tort Achilles. Good. That's terrible. Yep, toward Achilles, working out today away from the team facility. James is $10 million salary for the upcoming season is now in jeopardy. Being that Denver is no longer obligated to pay him working out off site non football related injury, even though it's clearly is a football related injury. And then Ross Tucker, our buddy quote, tweeted what Schefter wrote. You wrote brutal. If this happens in the facility, he gets all 10 mil..

"It's been a lot of fun, but yeah, that's a that's a little bit of my background right there. All right. Well, I appreciate that. So, so that leads me to the next part here since you just joined the beat for the Broncos this last year. Give me your perception. On what Has been holding this team back. What are some of the reasons why they've been struggling over the past several years as a guy kind of coming in with some fresh eyes? Well, I think it's obvious Yep. Start with the quarterback situation. You look it. Um, You know the guys they've had back there since, you know, painting any retired. Really? Um, and it's just been kind of a struggle. And, you know, obviously, they've been through. You know, several guys with Paxton Lynch and Brock Osweiler. And, um you know all those guys and you look at Drew walk obviously. Miss past season and his ups and downs, you know, and I know he showed some promise there at the end, but I think that's kind of where you have to start, But I think you also look at some of the different areas. I think that even go to the head coach. I think Vic Fangio has come in and done a decent job. But, um, you know, to losing seasons, they missed the playoffs both times. But he's been there. So this is a big, you know, third year that he's going into. Obviously they missed with Vance. Joseph. Um, you know, I think those have been a key issues its head coach and quarterback, But you can also even go down the line and I know you know we might get into this, but My nobody wants to talk about what they're gonna do it to lock. And if they're going to trade for a guy who drafted guy, but I mean, they have a lot of holes in other places. I mean, I think Justin Simmons has to be a priority. I think he is. You look at the cornerback situation. I think those are some big holes right there that they have to go get some words up there. Maybe through the draft, maybe through free agency. You know, you look at right tackle. I think that's an issue that they need to address this offseason. They never Juwan James is coming back next year. That's another position that I think they really need to look strongly added improving on the offensive line, you know, and then again, quarterback is another one that you have to point out and s. So I think there's a lot of different things that they need to get better. I didn't visit to Sean walked in, type player come in and fix all that. I don't know what kind of, you know maybe depends on what you have to give up. So, um, you know, I think that from my outsider's perspective, I guess is It's kind of where it started is, you know? Do you go on? Get that top level quarterback this offseason or do you wanna fix some of those other holes and maybe wait, I'll get him in 2022, maybe here to lock another shots to be the guy next year. Well, George welcome to lately to the to the Broncos beat and my uncle or a great uncle. I guess it was. Charles Albright was 40 year columnist for the Arkansas Democrat. Is that so? I know well, that paper's history and heritage um What has been the most interesting moment for you on the Broncos beat thus far. We'll have to be then playing without any quarterbacks..

"That that's like those guys did. I mean, honey here head, Nicky. He came in man. He was I mean, my God wanted game, and I mean, just he was just incredible second roll. Um I just don't think our coaches is the head coach. I think he is a defensive. Genius on On day and second of all. Or a third of all, Um, what do you think about our line? I mean, if you are quarterback do you think we get enough protection for him and then for running back, you know, so I'll leave it at that knowledge, you guys Thank you. I love you guys. Thank you. Thank you. We love you back. Wow. So there's not a lot of points. Um, yeah, I mean, chat him. He's been a basically a backup quarterback. With the exception of a couple stands. He did play. Bit. Miami did nice job coming in and replacing Pat Mahomes. Against Cleveland. Uh Heh, Nikki, the young quarterback out of Redskins camp. I thought he did a really good job in the game he played against Tampa phenomenal game You play now starting to worry about. I mean, I was watching Tampa's defense something and you guys can't cover anybody. Now they've played better lately, but That game was like the Redskins have guys run it open and completing passes and I thought the Broncos offensive line improve some this year. Do you think they're still you still? I mean, who's gonna be your right tackle? This year's Juwan James, you know is he gonna opt in? I don't know to the Broncos want him? That's xcom. Interesting to see it's George Payton will be analyzing. Some of those moves, too. But if you look at the other positions, bowls obviously had his best year in his career. Adult riser played hurt quite a bit, but appears to be solid. It left guard He had a rookie who played all 16 games and Lloyd Cushion bury the third. You had you had the you had right guard. You had the kid they signed from the Lions glass cow. Get banged up a little bit. I think he's solid right tackle. We don't know. I thought they were better this year. That they made improvements. As the year went on. I thought they were able to run the ball some I mean, can you get better? Sure. Do they have to get better? Absolutely. Was there too much pressure and dew lock? You bet. Part of that. Part of that is You know, you got to get the ball out of his hands. You gotta get the ball out of his hands quicker. Which you to me. You do with some wide receiver screens and in other creative ways that we from time to time, See? And that's that's you know, that's up to Pat Shurmur. You know the amazing thing about Hi, Nikki is he wasn't on anybody's radar. I believe he was their number four quarterback. He was a backup in the A F a backup. So they didn't even the judges talent to be good enough to be a starter in the A F. He goes out and plays Tampa Bay in a big game in lit it up before they signed him. I thought he was a bartender somewhere. He was out of the game, and he's from Old Dominion of all places. Not a big football school. It was a four year starter, so he's played a lot of quarterback. That that performance was really inspiring to me and really blew away a lot of people. I hope he earned the chance to at least be a backup next year with that team because he really showed something. How can he do that Week to week? No game. The game's no, No, he can't. On. That's how it is in the National Football League. He reminds me a little bit of Ah, he reminds me a little bit of cow slaughter. His game is game. I was thinking Matt Flynn had that one monster game. I think he runs better than Flint. Yeah, He was really good athlete here. He really would. Athlete Matt Flynn had one monster game. And got a huge contract out of it. Maybe even two. He? No. He replaced Aaron Rodgers. And the last game of the season is the Packers had home field advantage wrapped up. He threw for, like 430 some yards? Yep, and he got a three year deal out of that game with Seattle got a 30 million Believe 26 million over three years. 20 Okay, 26 million game an extra 4 26 million and then wound up getting beat out in training camp. He never started for the Seahawks. Wasn't Russell Wilson? Yes, we'll beat him out. And then then you get one more deal somewhere. Somebody signed up somewhere. Yeah, I think he's signed again. Not for that kind of money. My sign E think he sounded the Raiders at one point. He just was. I mean, he made a lot of money, and you'd say at best. He was just sort of a journeyman quarterback, but what it shows you is one game. You can't. You can't put a lot on one game. No, that's for sure. John and Denver joins us 10 20. On care way more job pulling boys and Gavin Morning. Um, I think the Bronco fans as an outsider, I think you guys should just take a chill pill and these very patient and give Drew a lot. The job. Just won't back off. It's only been a year, you know, be very patient with us, right? They just won't enjoy painting from Minnesota in a front row seat to the cut Cousins experiment. How'd that work out Minnesota? I don't think that will play out the chute. And you know, you know, keep the money. And I think this league is getting younger and faster every year as far as the Broncos high up because you know John Elway. Maybe next year he's done. Maybe Joe else is gone. But the one name I haven't heard, which is sitting out there, biding his time He stayed Manning and they I know you hate it when I say that, I think sometimes the NFL six but that play flag in the NFC championship game came right from the back pocket of CBS. Thanks a lot another today. Thank you. Yeah, that was the That was an unfortunate call for the Packers. I mean, clearly clearly. Was holding. The issue that I would have with that is they've let stuff go the entire game. I mean, the Green Bay receivers. We're getting mugged from time to time. And Over six penalties called that entire game. But I can't you know, you go back and look at that. And that's the same dude on coverage they get beat on the late in the first half. Scotty Miller. That's that's King will get beat on the opening drive by Mike Evans..

"Hair's probably You're gonna have to give him a raise, right? He came back to you on a discounted deal. He's not gonna do that. Two years in a row. You're probably gonna have to pay him upwards of $9 million. Just looking at similar players who have recently signed for agent deals. It's going to be about nine million and that might even be conservative. And then Philip Lindsay. Is probably about Would you say the same prices Melvin Gordon, eight million Never take For argument's sake. Let's say Simmons is 15 million. Von is 11. Shelby Harris, nine and Lindsay, eight. That's what Let's say That's what it will cost to bring those guys back. If you bring in if you're going to save room for a friend for a veteran quarterback that has signed a second contract. Lucrative one like Dat Garoppolo, Matt Ryan. Went Matthew Stafford again, who you want is a relevant to this discussion. If you want a franchise one of these franchise quarterbacks or veteran quarterbacks issue and save franchise, because why're the other team's laying them go, But These veteran quarterbacks. You want to bring him one of these veteran quarterback? Right now that takes all of your cap space. So you can't sign Simmons. You can't sign Miller. You can't sign here. She can't Stein Lindsay. You can sign none of them. Okay, So now you're gonna have to create some room if you're George Payton. So Now you have to look at guys who were on the team that are making a significant amount of money that you could cut. Okay, so I'll probably this out. The way I see it, and then you guys can respond the way that you would do it. So I say, Matthew Stafford, that would be at the top of my list. If I'm George Payton. Okay, so Matthew Stafford takes up all my cap space. I want to bring back Justine Simons. And I at the moment, want to bring back von Miller? Hey, what for now? Say that the investigation going on with Parker Police doesn't lead to any charges or anything like that. Let's say it is what it is now. Little bit of a distraction. Not a great look. But it doesn't rise to the level of any criminality. Because if it does, then it may be an easy decision for the Broncos toe, let to sever ties. With von Miller. I think we can all agree. Justine Simons. Is the guy number one guy you bring back Other guys we made debate, but I think we're all on the same page that in in an ideal world, Justine Simmons will be back put the Denver Broncos Okay, so I'll say Justine Simons and von Miller. Don't. I would like Jobe Harris back, but I don't know that I can make the money work. And here's why So if I just bring back Simmons and Miller And set aside the money for one of these veteran quarterbacks. That is $16 million over the cap. That George paint would be Have Karine Jackson, who makes 10 Who would know who you would save 10 Million. If you cut Kareem Jackson. You would save 12 Million if you cut, General Casey. You save 11 Million if you cut a J boy, and you would save seven million if you come, Bryce Callahan. Looked into Juwan James, because that was a guy like Whoa. Just cut you want James. His dead cap number is actually higher than his actual cap number, so he not being cut. Hey. And we're not talking about trading were just talking about how now cutting you gotta eat whatever salary you gotta eat. But I look, I did the research, Jack cutting Kareem Jackson. Safety 10 cutting General Casey saved you, 12 cutting a J boy saves you 11 and cutting Bryce Callahan saves you seven. So what I'm gonna do is I'm going to set aside the money for Matthew Stafford. I'm going to bring back Justine Simons and von Miller. A first. That's first bring them back. Those are my two top priorities. I bring them back. That makes 26 million that I have to account for so I cut Kareem Jackson. Cut Kareem Jackson. I cut General Casey and I cut Bryce Callahan. I keep a J boy. That gives me about $3 million to spare. Then maybe I can look in other directions to try and free up some money to try and keep Shelby Herring. But the point of all of this is to say that if George Payton wants to go get a veteran quarterback there are going to be some guys that are gonna have to be cut. Because the Broncos won't have enough money to sign Justine Simons to keep von Miller to keep Shelby heirs to keep Phillip Lindsay to keep General Casey and cream Jackson They can't keep the band together if they want to bring in a veteran quarterback. So to make it easy, I says, side the money for Stafford. I bring back Simmons and von I cut cream Jackson, General Casey and Bryce Callahan and keep a J boy. And I pray that Patrick's entertained from Alabama is available to me when I am on the clock. Because that to me is the number one corner back and get him Param with AJ boy, eh? Give O. J. Moody a another shot as more of a slot corner. Maybe I.

"To make it a different player other than Jerry Juice, and let's be honest, This isn't about Drew lock it is about who does Sean watching inquest right now. No quiet. Shawn Watson is a top five quarterback in this league, and you owe it to Broncos country. To explore everything that you can to make this football team what it needs to be. And if you look at this team, it's it's ready to win now. Yeah, they have a lot of youngsters on on offense, but Courtland sentence going into what his third season the offensive line, especially now with Garrett polls, he solidified that left tackle if Juwan James can come back. And be what they thought he was gonna be when they signed him in free agency. You have your right tackle. You obviously have Lindsay and Melvin Gordon. A good 12. Punch it running back. Noah Fant looks like he is going to be an outstanding tied in this team is ready to win on offense and on defense. Obviously, you have on you have Bradley Chub. You have two of the best safeties in the league and Justine Simons and Kareem Jackson. I think finally, once he that he was out there Uh, out at cornerback. You saw what Bryce Callahan congee if he's healthy. Man, this This team is ready to win right now. Plus, plus, you got Shelby Harris doing his thing inside? Yeah, I think if you got just just shown Watson he's the missing piece and you're ready to not only be in the playoffs, you're ready to challenge the chief of the F C West. Wow. We'll see. We'll see. "I think you can get a little flat footed and part of me believes it's just he had a lower body injury back in 2017, and I think he's probably recovered on Lee. But some of the tape that I'd watch it seemed like he was a little hesitant outside of that, if if maybe they trade back or we were just talking cornerback, So if they trade back or or something happens, I would say The next guy would be Eric Stokes on out of Georgia. I love physical press corners. I like guys. That play was kind of a nasty side, and you can put them almost on an island just simply because of their physicality. I think Stokes bring that not a straight to tackle. He's great and run support. So I would feel those would be the three guys that I absolutely love in this class. I love that. You mentioned that Stokes is one of the hashtag my guys in this draft and he fits with Vic Fangio life. He needs TVs that can tackle you know that That's kind of the Vic Fangio system. Do you think that you know you're based on its early, obviously, But, you know, I've kind of lobbed up the idea that Peyton, in his first year as general manager of the Broncos may want to trade back out of nine on and multiply picks for next season and for the future, And you think that that's a possibility they trade back out of nine. They can still pick up Stokes later on in the first round in that Absolutely. I mean, they had nine total picks in this trap. But they only have as of right now that the estimated cap space is a little north of 10. Obviously, things will change when we get into creating, see, but yeah, they absolutely could move back. I mean, 12. You know, San Francisco is Trey. Lance is there and in this organization they're set. On To lock. I think San Francisco moving back moving up getting trade land because I don't think Jimmy G's gonna be there very long. New England that 15. What direction did they go on? A quarterback s o. I think moving back. It's certainly on the table and maybe even Minnesota fortune, so You have plenty of options that if they move back, I think that's that's perfectly fine to take your guy Don't hesitate. Don't try to pull the trigger and move back and James, you're probably not going to do it. So if they do move back, Yeah, I think some of those teams could be there and then taking a guy like Stokes would make a ton of sense. Russell Brown joining us at Russ NFL draft on Twitter. Now, how would you prioritize if you know what you know about the Broncos roster where some of their holes showed up. It seems like on the defensive side like everything Last year's on the offense seems like they might have to swing back the other way on the defense and maybe get a little younger in some spots. So if you're prioritizing things for the Broncos into the draft, what are you looking at? What your top three positions that you need to fill? Right now, I would have to say it would be between corner and safety. And I know you have Simmons. I know you have cream, Jax, but you gotta you know, you got to re sign those guys. You have to make sure you have them. And last I checked. Simmons is not under contract. So and Kareem Jackson. I mean, he's 43 34 years of age, so you have to get a little younger there, and I think this is a decent safety class. That really just started diving into it. So I mean, we talked coolers. I'll talk a couple safety names for everybody. You know, Richard account out of Georgia. Another one of those guys. Play makers got pretty good ball skills on Francisco. That's my God. You had your not porn is a CEO. I think he would be in the conversation in the top safety in this class. I think he's gonna fall in a similar situation is Malee cooker when he came out just due to injury, but similar ball skills, great playmaker, So I think he'd be a great fit. And outside of that, if we're still talking defense, I mean, I think it it does not hurt to look at at another edge rusher in this group and I know you have some guys and job and Miller but looking potentially at another ad Russia maybe a Carlos bash from out of town to Wake Forest, Shaka Tony out of Penn State or even Irani Perkins, Oklahoma. I think all three of those guys a little bit different in their own way. Tony's more of that traditional explosive pass rusher bashers got that. Screw the power Ronnie Perkins as well with a little speed to power, so depends on what they're looking for their butt. They could be some day. Two guys that they look at, But I would probably go corner safety defensive end and then I would probably we look on the offensive side just with running back and obviously some offensive line help because you can never have too many offensive line. What do you think about Brendan Cox? The ads out of Florida. You know, I don't mind him. I watched two of his games so far, And I think this is a guy that it has some upsides. I like the overall size of this guy. He's a massive God. So I think he's pretty solid. I would like to obviously see him get a step or two faster. But overall, the speed to power that the powers would really stands out because you've got a thick, lower body. I think he's one of those guys. That when we get through this entire process and again, it's early. Some of the guys have already talked about people have been talking about for months, but he could be a guy that really starts climbing up after you know, a good offseason. Is there anything else this far? Is Broncos? This? The last one I have for you, Russell Brown joining us. Is there anything else for the Broncos? That mean you mention a lot of stuff? They're on the defensive side. Offensively. I'm not saying that they're there, 100% said, because once again, their their offense was one of the bottom in the league this last year. I think a lot of that having to do with the quarterback and whatever decision, they decided to make their But they seem pretty set it almost everything else. There are conversations happening about whether or not they should address offensive tackle because Juwan James's might be his last year with the team when he comes back, So would you consider that a bit of a sleeper position here for the Broncos to address earlier in the draft? It's funny. You mentioned I think it is, And I think it could actually be a sleeper position relatively early as well. I mean, if Patrick entertains gone, they can't get the trade back there. Not comfortable with really how the board sets up. Maybe there's an offensive tackle there. And the guy that I would say is response later out of Northwestern. If we're talking earlier, he's got experience playing left tackle. He's got experience playing right tackle each a former guard in high school, actually, and I like him on the interior. So you would bring some versatility. You could play both tackle spots if we talk a little bit later. Love Dylan redone about a North Dakota state. He could very well go in the first round. He's just they mean player he stopped in aggressiveness loves the finish really good length at 66. And then the other one is Kevin Jenkins at Oklahoma State. He's a natural right tackle. Very aggressive, really good length at 663 10. He's every bit of that. I think you could get a little bit cleaner with his footwork like those two guys could potentially be day two options. And then the last one off trouble. Has he went out there and promise Jackson Carmen out of Clemson. 653 45. He's got two Definitely clean up some things from his lower body. Ah, little squatty with this stance over, although pretty good grip, grip strength, really good length. He's a natural fit. I think at right tackle and he's just a big body..

"There has been out there for years, and it looks like he's not only a finalist with Houston, But that deal maybe getting done. He's going down to Houston to meet with Cal McNair. And so maybe he doesn't leave Houston because he's the new GM, so that takes one position and one name off the board. But You want to have that person in place? Your help the little by you still have the entire personnel staff and John Elway still around, but you also don't want have to settle, so you want to be able to get your guy? It's just tricky if if there's a really good candidate that you like odds are someone else likes him too? Right? And that's what you want is you want to be in some sort of bidding war and hope that you're the right fit for them something other jobs come with. Potentially better opportunities to either drafted Trevor Laurence. Or you have a dish on Watson. If because area doesn't get that job in Houston or does either way that's a more attractive quarterback situation right now, And of course, we see what Justin Herbert it is a rookie in L. A. And we know how talented that roster is there. So you want to do it quickly because you don't want to let this fester for a couple of weeks. But you don't want to do it so quickly that you miss somebody that might have been the better fit Vacay as we get going into the offseason. Certainly there's um uh, contract clauses and timelines that need to be met. Any off any offhand that you can think of that have to be done before the start of the league year contract has to be executed before the start of the league year. As far as the guys that are under Contractual obligations. No, I guess I have to decide before you don't want guys to hit the street if you want him back, so I have to pick up an option. It's a team option on cream. Jackson very asked, you'd have to decide. Yeah, it's a team option for It's 12 million years a captain. It's 10 million in cash. So it's the team's decision to bring him back at that number. I feel like there may be an option on Von Miller. I need to double check that and if and if so, because you keep hearing people ask about the decision on Ron Miller. That's 17.5 million in cash and 22 a half against the cap, so I think it would Be in the best interest of the organization and the new GM, assuming that we believe what Vic Fangio and John Elway was saying that they want him back, and I think that they do that they get a deal done yet is a team option for Nirvana's well, 18 million in cash. I'm sorry in 22 2 to 5 against the cap. You want to sign him to an extension so that it doesn't It doesn't crush your cap this year and gives you more flexibility and gets von happy, right. This is a guy that has meant so much for the organization that if they want it back, they need to get that done. And then she'll be Harris, I think won't be done before free agency. That's the sense I get that they put a number out there. That was lower than he thinks he can get on the open market. Of course, you went through this once last year, so he may end up right back in the same spot. Differences last year. They never really put an initial offer out to him. So if they knew GM wants to honor that offer, or like Shelby, as much as we know, big Fangio does, And then Shelby will likely be back in the Justin Simmons. Of course, they could negotiate with Justin at any time. Now, I believe, because the season's done and they can obviously slap another franchise tag on him. But if they want it back, they're gonna need to make him a high state safety and football and I think he's probably earned that. In that salary. Okay? The last thing I have for you here, the five highest paid players or the Denver Broncos. Von Miller at 7 18 million bucks. Right? Juwan James 9.85 Kareem Jackson 10 Million with the club option. General Casey 6 11,000,081. On the next guy is AJ Bouvier. Of those five. How many do you anticipate coming back? Two for sure to Hogan Miller, Okay. Von Miller and John James, right. Tuan James opted out, but he's got 14 million reasons to come back and play next year. His wife's from here, So it's not like he's been hanging out somewhere else. I don't think I'm pretty sure they're just living in Denver. She's I think either from room to room fielder Lewisville, Esso. I expect James and I'm going to hold out hope that one. Miller does finish his career here that you don't have. Ah, The markets where situation guy that should have finished his career in Dallas. Like we were the beneficiaries in Denver to have them around in the community and bond was the biggest beneficiary. I think having him around, but Kay Jack, I'll lean towards that probably bringing him back. A lot of it has to do with what the cap number is. Is it 1 75 or doesn't go up to 200 because new TV deal is right around the corner or multiple new TV deals right around the corner for the league? So, uh And I don't think Casey and boy will be back a zoo. I've told you guys here now for multiple weeks. Okay? We appreciate it is always look forward to catching up with you again tomorrow. Sounds good, and they want some more names that are on the list and start to get a sense of when they're actually interviewing here in the next couple days. "And if you understood like we remember, we're covering this because we understood from both sides of the house. Why? It ultimately didn't get done. Broncos fans and they maybe even some of the people in the media kind of rushed to judgment, saying the Broncos are cheap or that, John, You know, we just assume is asking for too much money. And it really wasn't that I mean, they both had kind of a line in the sand. Both sides, I say more so the Bronco's moved, But But there was a concern about what covert was gonna mean to the league year about what the salary cap implications we're gonna be in. The Broncos just simply didn't want to be underwater, and they knew they had the backstop of a second franchise tag. If they have absolutely had to use it, or they don't And it looks like the salary cap might ultimately be OK. It might come down a little bit for certainly probably gonna go up, but I don't know if it's gonna make the 1 75. Yeah, You got the roll over. So you got a little cushion there. That's gonna help on there. Are you just some flexibility? That gentleman's gonna have to come in and say OK, what? We keep it. AJ Bouvier, Are we keeping General Casey? You know, what are we going to do about von Miller's option? What are we going to do with Juwan? James was coming back off the opt out. You know what was going to eat that or we're gonna You know what we're gonna do, And so there's some. There's a couple of Karine Jackson. What are we going to do with Kareem Jackson is the 33rd year for three year deal with no guaranteed money, so they're just some flexibility on that defense to do something. She's gonna have to figure out what it is that you're going to do. The money's there. I'll say that in terms of cap the money is there now. Cash is a little bit different story. We've talked about that on this show before. Caches liquid money that the franchise has to have to be able to put into escrow two weeks after do get side But the cap portion of it is very easily solved. The cash portion of it is something that you're gonna have to figure out. What lies text here? What makes Kelly the front runner? In your opinion, Is it because of his relationship with Elway? Relation with Vic is? Why does Peter's prefer Caroline? Or if he does? I don't know that he prefers Carolina. But there's Carolina. Job is I'm gonna say more attractive to somebody like that right now. You're not beholden Anybody. There's no specter of anybody in the background you're coming in. You're the man without a peters. He worked here. You might rule work together. You see, l A. They know each other. Really? Well, they're buddies s. Oh, there's a friendship factor there in Carolina, the privately resetting it quarterback and they've got their stopgap and Teddy Bridgewater. Right s O u gonna get to pick your guy. There's there's more in Caroline's a young football team. You know, they're very young team with some exciting pieces. Um, so you know, I just think that right now, for a general manager looking to jump in, there is a more attractive job you've got. You've already got your coach. You gotta in your coaches. Somebody you worked with. Which is kind of the same situation for champ and champ Kelly. I mean, you've got your coach guy you worked with. You know you s Oh, I think it's two different people with two different scenarios, and Peter's probably just fits better in Carolina. To be honest with you. It's not not that you know you no more work for the Broncos or that kind of stuff. General Manager job's only 32 33 1, really, but you know, packers and that whole such a setup, But you know, there's only a certain number of them. And you know you're not gonna get the one in Dallas. So you know that that is force these jobs coming open. You know, you've got to consider your options. Try to find your best fit to strike while the iron is hot. If you got a chance to work with a buddy and you guys were unified your vision, Why wouldn't you take that? And so peters and rule? I think I think kind of our that it feels like I don't know. And maybe you can answer. This will produce some more time to talk about this tomorrow, but It feels like people are making a little bit bigger deal of the fact that John Elway is not completely out of the picture and not really maybe giving this new GM full Full opportunity right off the bat. I mean the way the way I understand it in the way, At least I'm reading between the lines here with John Elway and correct me if I'm wrong, But it seems as though he's laying the groundwork for this GM to be his own guy to be his own man and and to take some ownership. It may be a little bit of a feeling out process, you know, kind of like taking over for Peyton Manning. You know when Peyton Manning retired, there's when you're taking over for a Hall of Famer. It doesn't always go very smooth. You know, John always has the fourth best record of any active GM right now and two Super Bowl appearances in that tenure, so taking over for John Elway, whether he's still in the building or he's not here. He's Mr Bronco like that was always gonna be. Ah, little bit of an interesting transition is going eventually happen. Sting transition, So I whether he's in the building as president of football operations or he's just in the city of Denver. That was always going to be an interesting transition to me, and I think people are making way too much of John being around the facility Still, yeah, it's gonna be a significant step back. I mean, he's still gonna have some rubber stamp going on here, but I think he's trying to transition to the next phase of What it is that he's going to know what the GM do his thing. I mean, it seems it's a little bit of give and take. That's all they're working together. Yeah, exactly. Okay. When we come back, Tim Jenkins will join the program shot Bauer with a news update here at the top of the hour, plus traffic stick around Broncos country tonight,.
