"Joan, what do you think? It was great to hear those words to come out of Chris mouth. Knowing that in his heart, he wanted to see all 5 guys back together, whether forming is, if it's at a Michigan basketball game, this set someone birthday or it's a relative outing or something like that, but with all that experience and I'm speaking of spinal campus and hanging out as young men talking about how what's our next step at the college and all the stories that we used to share together and talk about what happened in practice somebody get dunked on. You know, those are fun fairs moments that know what to take away from you. And I'm sure he's reflected on all that. And it's great to hear that when you mention about, you know, let's move past it. I thought that was pretty funny. You know, I can't leave without saying about that one. When you talk about KG in reality, getting passing or whatever happened over to Boston and I remember when ray decided to join my heat, I was on a map. He came at that time and I know how KG and Paul pierson have felt it's not easy, but and all that and when she's getting older, there's a life where we all have to move on and just whatever mistakes are guys may have said bad about someone or whether it's a difference that you've had, that's what family do. They go through those moments where you grow and you move on and that's nice to hear that that's what's going to be happening soon. Well, you have a large role in it, coach juwan Howard. You go and go forth and keep on advancing. It's just a thrill to watch. It really is. And I always cherish when you take the time to call into the show. I do not take it for granted. Thanks again. Truly. No, it's a truly honor and to be here on your show and I know your Michigan man all. You and I, you know, it's a special bond. Only us Michigan people are truly understand. And I'll be a part of that amazing blue special and we're saying that I would just want to leave you with two words. Yes. Go blue. Thank you, Joanne, Howard, right back at you. I've got a big grin on my face right now that I'm sure I love you, right back at you, right back at you, do you want Howard? Thanks for the call. Good luck against Villanova and beyond. That is one Howard, everybody. You back juwan Howard right here on the rich eisen show. The 1992 and 2022 version of myself are all very happy. Let's take a break here on the rich eisen show. By the way, LeBron, how about LeBron calling him about that? But he still would root for Ohio State over him. Come on, man. Sean William Scott in studio can't wait to chat with him next. And we're here on the terrestrial radio audiences rejoined us. Sean William Scott, welcome to flat we just saw a great clip of it Thursday's 9 30 p.m. eastern on Fox. You came out and you have some questions. Questions for me. I want to get which is fine. You want to get inside your brain. Okay, normally I'm the cue and you would be the a, but I have no problem. Okay, switching up. Go for it. But these are some things that you might have talked about already today. That's okay. I can be annoyed. Okay. I go, and everyone's understanding of it. So Baker Mayfield going. Now that's an excellent question. I don't know. What do you think? No, here's the thing is I don't know and the way it looks right now, I don't know if he's going to go anywhere before the draft because I don't know if anybody which is August April 28th through the 30th. I don't know if anybody would trade a draft choice for him if they're going to go draft a young quarterback right now. So if they don't Seattle, you think Seattle May Seattle is the only spot that could come get them right now. Yeah. That's what I think. I just don't know if he is at the Seattle could be one of those teams that's going to draft somebody. And so why would they go and spend a draft pick to go get an $18 million quarterback if they can get a kid for four years of contractual control at an aggregate less than that money for one year? That's my answer to that. Okay. All right, so that's one. Garoppolo, does he stay in San Francisco? Now that is something we've been talking about. If you guys, you guys need me. We're talking and thinking about the same stuff. I need you. You complete us. It's basically what I'm saying. Yes, I would agree. We have been discussing this, Sean, and it's an interesting situation. It seems like Indy didn't want him because they were unsure of the recovery time on his non throwing shoulder. So they were considering him? Yeah. He was thinking about it. I'm sorry. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Until they Matt Ryan came along and had them at hello. And so however, if he stays in San Francisco and starts again there would be, but everything is crazy going on. Like today, Tyree kill getting traded to the dolphins and devonte Adams. Well, I didn't know this. I heard you because I heard you talking about something and I just stopped doing press all day, so it's funny because I was going to say, these days, at least in the last couple of weeks, you're not checking the sports, like in 5 minutes, you're going to miss a big trade. Correct. What? Tyreek hill this morning. I had no idea he was even in play. You wake up this morning and the news is that, yes, that he's available and he's no longer going to be a chief. The chief's consider him tradable because I guess they couldn't work out a contract and then the dolphins traded 5 draft choices for him. Literally an hour ago. That's insane. Yes, sir. And nobody had any kind of idea that nobody did. You're going to leave or would leave or even share a single thing and my ears to the ground. Wow. Wow, that's crazy. Okay. What's your team? Do you have a team? No, I got a bunch of teams, but I gotta say, I love Brady. Okay. I mean like I'm 45 years old. He's killing it. It's unbelievable. You look like you could give me some snaps right now though. At age 45. One time. It hurts me to see other people get hit once in the game. I can't knocked out. If you got hit one time? I get knocked out. And it felt rock solid. Like you had a rock solid handshake. Inside it hurt. Like inside my body was in lots of pain. No, but. Who would be top 5, the top 5 teams that have the chance to win Super Bowl? Okay, here we go. He's number one. Rich eisen's top 5 soon. Oh my God. He's going to make news. This is big dude. He's going to make news. It's going to be everywhere. Yeah, we did the quarterback. Plus we're going to tweet it out. We get it. Mike, can you give me some NFL films music right here? Because I need to get in the mood for this sort of stuff. Sean William Scott asks me this.

"He's a walking breathing model. Except he's not able to play now for the next 6 to 8 weeks. And now a lot of pressure on camera pain who played well last year at times, but boy, this is asking a lot now. Now the subscribe to any theory that says that somehow or other Booker has to alter his game or just go back through as we doing what he does, right? I don't think it matters. If you get Chris Paul back two weeks before the end of the regular season, somehow you're fine. And he's healthy. Like it can only actually hurt him. Help him because campaign has a chance to kind of get his swagger back a little bit more, get more reps. You're actually getting a, I don't know if healthier is the word, but kind of with Chris Paul, right? He's older. His legs, his legs should be certainly better. We're talking about a Philadelphia, a thumb. We're not talking about a limb. I mean, a knee and ankle with shoulder. And we'll be the thumb will heal. And it'll be functional and be fine. I mean, I think that's a reasonable assumption. It's not going to be an injury. It's going to, once it's done, it's done. And at the end of the story, I would think. And unless I'm missing something here. No, I think that's accurate. Yeah, so that's the only good news involved with this story. Since we know that, you know, what matters will take place in April and May. Speaking of point guards coming up this Friday, we have the swapping of the point guards, the Celtics will be taking on the nets. And their new guy, Simmons is going to make his debut. And then James Harden plays for Philly. I'm going to say this right now. I'm going out on a limb. He has a take, okay? I think Philadelphia is going to roll, I think, I think harden. We all know if he puts down, you know, if he takes care of himself and stays healthy and tries to eat right and so forth. But I think he and MB man, if I'm Milwaukee, I'm worried. Those two because look what it means doing alone. I mean, I think harden it and be could get on a roll and look out and be in the finals. Oh, I think there could be very good. Although, I thought they had a very good thing going at the time with the chemistry that the other group had. But this is intriguing. It is definitely intriguing, and I have to say that Hardin fooled me last year with the array he altered his game right. He's done it before. And I still don't know where there was this come from. I don't know. That's my thing. But you pick up the box where it says there was. I don't remember it, but that's okay. Anyway, yeah, it's going to be interesting. And I'll pick and roll thing, although, and beats cases, and more pick and pop than pick and roll. Do you think Jeff? It can be whatever you want it to be. But yeah, I mean, it can be pick and roll. It can be picking. That's the beauty of having Joelle. Is he can do whatever I don't know if I've ever. Again, the most apt comparison is akeem in the post, but MB can step out and he can shoot the three, like this dude when he's healthy. There's nobody in the game that can. Yeah, I mean, see, this is the way I look at it, guys. I mean, if Hardin decides to play like he did to what bob was talking about. And this is what I find exciting. Because Simmons is going to be a work in progress. The Kyrie curse, I think, is really screwed that lot. But if harden plays the way he did when he first got to the nets, a they compete Milwaukee and I think they're the only team that can be Golden State. I think listen, the nets, if you had it, Kyrie for every game now. I still think Simmons with Kyrie with KD now with. Signing with them after being bought out. They got shooters, right? If they're whole, what doesn't, I mean, other than chemistry and Kyrie and all that, that's it. I know, I know, I'm with you. All I'm saying is like, that team, Ben Simmons could not fit a duo better on the court, like if you said, who are the two players you want around Ben Simmons in the league in the entire league, you would pick Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. I picked a random hit Joe Harris back, but in terms of a shooter. Now that I got Seth. That's so same. They're pieces fit beautifully together around Ben Simmons. They do. It's exactly what you want what you would want to draw up. But again, it's Kyrie, Kyrie, Kyrie, Kyrie. Then we all want to fast spot why I want to fast forward to the playoffs. Let's say this thing materializes the way you're suggesting that it could. But now we get to the playoffs and we go back to what happened in the playoffs last year with him. And his illusion to mental health and his allegiance. Is he going to have flashbacks? Is he going to put the ball doesn't have to be in his hands if Kyrie's on the floor? That's true. That's the difference. And there's no point in him being in the defensively. Defensively. Oh, yeah, to be honest. I mean, he's an elite defender. Ali. So if you say, hey, we don't need to put them on his hands. We're going to put it in Kyrie and KD's hands. You don't have to touch it. You're not going to get followed here. But we need you to be that elite defender. Well, then that's a good point. Right? I mean, he has value. He has value still at the end of the games playing alongside two of the best offensive players we've ever seen. All right, just for the heck of it here. Jeff seems to be pro nets. I'm going to be pro sixers. We're all talking out of our you know what? We don't know what's going to happen. Bob, what do you think is going to happen? Well, I like the sixer angle. I think they're going to be very interesting. And I had just been jolted a little bit by Jeff's assessment assessment of the no, I mean, who knows? And the idea because I'm so see, my problem, I have to get over this. Okay, guys. I'll start where I have to get over my antipathy for students. The whole story drives me crazy. I hold it against this gentleman that he has apparently. Refused to work on his game to alter his game to where it could and should be with regard to this outside shooting thing. And not just threes, but the whole idea of something other than going to the basket. And at 6 feet ten. And the interesting KD, don't you think if there's one person that might because it's obviously a coach hasn't worked for him? Brett branding work Doc didn't work. But what about if KD? Is the driving force in this? So hey, hey, Ben, we don't give a shit. If you miss him, take the shots, give him the ball, pass Ben Simmons the ball and say, shoot the effing ball. Like KD could do that. All right, well, okay, let's see how that works. Good. I don't know if you will. We have, they do have a coach, even though Kyrie is in the past suggested it really was a superfluous idea. But they do have a coach. Who we like, I think, and respect. And let's see what his approach is. Right. You see if he can unlock the, you know, find the key has the key to our life. The enigma inside the wrapped inside the riddle, you know, then all that that has been Simmons mind. Chance always always a pleasure. We got to wrap it up. Bob Ryan Jeff Goodman. Thanks for letting me hang..

"The bob Ryan and Jeff Goodman podcast. NBA, some college, a little bit of everything. You know what can I say? But it wasn't going to happen here with him. I was okay with it because it wasn't about talent I didn't think. All right, let's get right to it. All right guys, here we go. It is the post all star break edition of the Ryan and Goodman tangley along for the right podcast. We got a lot to get to. We are going to touch on juwan Howard and that whole fiasco. And will brawny play with Braun and what's going to happen with Hardman Philly and Simmons with the nets coming up this Friday. That's all coming up on the show, but we don't see a lot of punches thrown in basketball games. I mean, I think about Kermit Washington. That always comes to mind. But generally, there's a lot of bravado and no action. Unfortunately, we saw that Jeff will start with you. This is your beat. With Michigan and juwan Howard, who is just been to me such a great asset for the college game. I mean, this NBA guy who played like forever in the NBA was a member of the fab 5. I think he just represents Michigan so well. He's been so great. And then I was just flabbergasted, you know, when he punches the assistant coach of Wisconsin. He's going to get 5 games and $40,000, which I think is peanuts. I think the 5 games is a joke. I think he should be gone for like a year. I don't know how you feel about that. You know, I can't wait to hear bob's take on this because he's obviously been covering the game a lot longer than either of us, but I've never seen this. I've covered AU basketball for 20 plus years. I've covered college for 20 plus years. I've covered NBA plenty. I have never seen a coach strike another coach like this. Now, was it a punch? I guess the kids these days call it a mush the way he hit him because it was kind of open handed and he kind of almost like clawed him or tried to claw him, but whatever it was, he struck him. And to me, I think you're right, Gary. I think you could easily justify suspending you on Howard for the rest of the season. Not 5 games for the regular season, but Big Ten tournament, if they make the NCAA tournament, which right now they're right on the bubble. But again, you don't do that. And too many people to me were trying to make excuses for why he did it, right? They were trying to sing great guard, you know, put hands on him. Credit card didn't put hands on him. He tried to stop him in the handshake line. And garb was trying to obviously explain himself, what else was he? He could have said, hey, I'll call you later. That would have been the best way to do it. I'll call you later, but he didn't, he tried to stop him. He didn't put hands on him. And even if he did, you on Howard would it could have decked grey guard. I mean, bob Ryan is more intimidating right now than Greg gard. It was a complete and utter overreaction. There's no question. The consensus prediction was the rest of the season. Regular. And it's very interesting. It sounds like a lot, except we only got 5 games left. You know, if this has been interesting to know what would have been adjudication if it were January 8th, you know, as opposed to February 21st when this happened, or 20th, when it happened. Okay. I am exasperated in an overall by the pettiness here. First of all, he shouldn't have been pressing the start with. Okay, ridiculous. But that's, okay, shouldn't have been pressing. And then the guards give me this coach speak BS about protecting a walk ons and my last 15 seconds to get the ball up and not stop. Just turn it over. Turn it over. If you turn the ball over at that point, it's irrelevant. Greg, that's coach fies. I don't want to hear that. Okay, but that doesn't excuse what Howard did. Now, one of the issues here, which I don't know how much was taken into consideration by the Big Ten, is that he's a recidivist. And the incident that happened last year in a big tent tournament with Mark turchin. I don't know how much they took that in, but that should be considered. And this is I don't think it was, bob. I don't think that had any bearing. On the penalty here, I think the penalty was based on this incident unto itself. Wow, well, I think it should have been. Consider taking into consideration. Well, then to me, he should have gotten a Big Ten tournament. But guys, let's face it. Look, do you want Howard is very important to NCAA basketball? I mean, if you're a casual basket of casual college basketball fan, and you see you want how it coaching, it's like, oh, okay, I know that guy. I mean, Michigan, liquid Michigan's playing great hoop, it's good for business. Sure, when they've got a name, it's good for business. He's leaving, right? All these guys, they're all leaving, you know, Joan, here's the thing, Gary, all the, I did a story in this ten days ago. I don't know if bob, you saw this, but I went through every, if you haven't, you need to because it would be interesting for you to read more than anybody. I went through all the current coaches, college head coaches, and probably 25 or so formers. Most of them in the last ten years or so. But I included like Clyde drexler. Every coach who's played over 200 NBA games. So Tony Bennett only played a 150 NBA games. Mark Pope only played a 150. They don't qualify. To me, it's more of the guys who actually made a living playing playing the game in the NBA. And juwan Howard was the highest. I gave him all grades. He was the highest graded active coach. I gave him a B plus, and I thought that was a little generous. So I guess what I'm trying to say, Gary, is he's one of the few guys, especially you made a 100 million playing because we got the Chris mullin failed. Patrick Ewing failing. Even like Fred hoiberg didn't play a ton in the NBA. Fred hoiberg two right now, Nebraska, failing. Most of the Kai drexler was in utter embarrassment. Isiah Thomas said FIU, an utter embarrassment. You can go down the line. I'm going to give bob, did you read this story or no? No, no, I need to see it. All right, I'm going to send it to you, but here, and this is going to surprise you, and it's surprised me a little bit. Here's the trivia question for you. Of guys who coached in the last ten, 20 years, the formers, what college coach, who played over 200 NBA games, got the highest grade for me. Not current, former. Yeah. I don't know. Watch five's reaction on this Gary. Al skinner. Ha. Wow. That's fabulous. Did you know he played over, he played over 300 NBA games? No, I wouldn't have known what number to put on. But I'm not surprised to hear that. He was around for quite a while as a net, particularly. And he went to listen, you and I wrote at the end and we got a lot of crap for it. You and I against the world. Right. I don't want to revisit history, but we both said it was time for the owl skinner era and I still believe that. And I think bob does too. They've made the wrong hires since. But it doesn't mean that they parting ways with Al skinner at that point in time was the wrong move. But I'll skinner did a hell of a job early in his tenure at Boston college. He was terrific. But if Juan Howard is a juwan Howard, does he get it more severe penalty? Well, yes, if he was a coach that wasn't winning at a high level, that didn't play for his school, in my opinion, you'd have a third of the coaches right now. If they had done the same things you want, Howard did, they would be fired today. How's that? That's what I would say. A third of the coaches in American college basketball the reason you want to head coaches. Now, again, a bunch of them would be guys that were losing. And they could justify with cause, firing them for this incident, but again, juwan Howard played at Michigan and has fared well at.

"Our race. On April 2nd, 1984, John Thompson's Georgetown hoyas led by Patrick Ewing beat Houston to the NCAA championship game, making Thompson, the first black coach to win an NCAA basketball title. Thompson became a coaching icon during his 27 years of Georgetown. When he passed away in 2020, several coaches honored him by wearing his signature white towel. Well, Taylor, do you have anything else for us to do today? I actually have a question for you guys. We didn't talk Kentucky at all. How do you guys feel about the wildcats coming back from 18 down? I think it was 18 against Bama. They got a big one against Arkansas this week. Are they national title contenders? Are they going to steal the SEC from auburn? How do you guys feel about the wildcats? Big one this week against Arkansas, right? I think on the road too. Yeah, which is their title is to play. Yeah, their title contenders. And I think they're among the 18 that are tidal favorites in my view. Or at least prohibitive favorites. And it doesn't mean that another team can't come out. But I think the champion will come out of the top 8. But as long as they've got all their players, I mean, they're playing, you know, they have a chance to be playing without a couple guards. But when they're full strength, I think they're as good as anybody. And damn Kellen Grady, you know, step up and get 28 in their last game and to win that game. I think said a lot about their athletic character. And Jim, I've been looking all year at because my concern coming into the year is where they get consistent play from their four position. Now all of a sudden, Jacob toppin is coming off the bench. He's playing well. Keon Brooks has given him consistent minutes. So now you have 5 guys on the floor that you have to play some attention to that puts immense pressure on your defense, whether it be zone or man. So we've talked about them being in the top 8, all year long. And because of that, and especially the emerges to your point with getting killing Grady involved in the offense but like early versus late, that's a very dangerous Kentucky wildcat team. I think the thing that impressed me in that game was David I met 38 minutes no turnovers. That was really impressive. I mean, I was thinking like David mentioned 6 year, you know, he went to Kentucky, they played last year. They were terrible to fans of the stadium and I got to believe he was like, what am I doing? You know, like I left a great atmosphere, a team that I was comfortable with. I had a role. Now, after playing that game, I got to that place was absolutely crazy. I got to believe that, you know, he's got to look back and say, you know what? This was worth it. I was so happy for that kid, how we played, you know, how competitive he was, the leadership he gave their team. I thought that was I thought that was really, really good. The other thing is playing as well as they played with those guys out. Might even motivate those.

"I kind of feel like the punishment's all around were a little bit lighter than I was expecting. I was texting with nada, our producer before we got on. My expectation, not expectation I thought, you know, I could see guard getting a game, crab and Hoff getting a game or two, and I thought that would have been fine. I thought it would impractical. I thought it would have been reasonable. But that's not what we have here. We have Juan Howard sitting for 5 games. Three players that threw punches. They didn't start this fight, but they're going to sit for a game and then guards going to get a fine that is 25% of what Howard's fine was overall there. I sometimes think that when it gets into an incident happens, and then the suspension or the punishments come down, I kind of hate our media cycle, how we can, I don't know, run these processes through the absolute ringer, and then it's almost like an outrage race about who can be the most pissed off about the severity of punishments on it. So I'm not going to do that here. I'm just a little surprised that you didn't at least have, you know, crab and Hoff was more deserving of a suspension than guard in my opinion. Just a game. Again, he did not deescalate the situation. So if he doesn't get involved in there, it's reasonable to say that maybe Howard's not even put in this situation to begin with. And instead, you've got maybe fines and just a general reprimand 'cause it's really Howard taking a strong swipe of crab and Hoff that we're even talking about this. Like if Howard doesn't do that, then obviously the player's almost certainly are not doing what they wound up doing there. So for the record, if you're curious on the Michigan games that they're not going to have their coach on, and I might take one or two, your boy here is willing to improv and go real time on these pods, by the way. So I might take one or two questions in real time to wrap up. This will be a generally pretty quickie pot here, but we want to address it and at least serve the YouTube audience live and I think we might squeeze this into the regular podcast feed as well. The Michigan games that Howard will not be on the floor for. Rutgers is a home game on Wednesday, four home games in a row, Rutgers, Illinois on Sunday. The Tuesday after that home, rival game, Michigan state. Iowa at home to wrap the regular season at the Chrysler center. And then we'll close out on the road against Ohio State. And oh, by the way, Michigan's 1411. I wouldn't have them in the field right now. I don't know how we're getting a 5 game sit down and then not having diabate and Terrence Williams. I mean, he plays like 35% of the teams minutes. Him not being available for the Rutgers game, I don't think he's going to make or break that at home for Michigan. I think Michigan's actually destined to just miss the tournament. I think it's going to be a one or two seat in the NIT. I think Michigan's got to get four W's to be in a good spot from an at large perspective. We really think it's going to do that. Rutgers Illinois, Rutgers, fighting it in Illinois, easily in Michigan state easily. And I was looking better. We'll see though. That's winnable. And then at Ohio State, then you got the Big Ten tournament, depending on where they get seated, that first game, whether you win or not, quad two at best, it's going to have to do better than that. So we'll see on that. I thought Kevin, I also want to know what took so long. I was told this thing was coming out in the afternoon. I was preparing with all of that. And the longer this took, the more I thought, okay, then maybe we're going to have something extremely notable here in terms of suspensions. That's not, that's not what happened. By the way, if you're watching, please do hit that like button. If you want to smash it, you can do whatever you want. You can rub it tickle it, smash it, nudge up against it, just please for me. If you could, I'd greatly appreciate it to everyone that's watching live in the chat. I appreciate that as well. Now if you want to pick out a question or two and drop it in the private chat that you think might be relevant, I'm willing to answer one or two as we go as we go in real time here. As for Wisconsin's Endo, by the way, of course, no suspensions with any of its coaches. The badgers will next play at Minnesota on Wednesday and then at Rutgers on Saturday. So how about Rutgers, man? Your next two opponents are the two that were involved in this. And the meantime, Steve Michael, who's like, there's a lot of really nice men that are head coaches at programs across this country. Steve Michael genuinely is in the top ten inarguably. He's in the top ten. And so I just find it funny like the nicest coach in the conference. Now sees himself going up against a Howard list, Michigan. And then he'll go up against Greg gard and Wisconsin as well. So I would have liked to have seen a little bit perhaps stronger of a stance on the Wisconsin end of it, but you know, it's not the end of the world. Juan Howard deserves the worst of it. We talked about that before. Here's a question. Why do you have a breaking news podcast about Juan and not one about the real news? Did GP get his phone back and how much did it cost? I am, listen, I can't confirm or deny whether that man has his phone yet. I don't know. So anyone watching this that doesn't know what we're talking about. You're going to want to go back and listen to the Sunday Night podcast. Well, after we got through the basketball talk, Gary Parrish lost his cell phone. I can't confirm or deny. You might have to wait until tomorrow. Who knows if Wednesday? Who even knows if Paris will be on the Wednesday podcast at this point? So I'm not quite certain on all of that. Otherwise, I hope I genuinely hope that this is something that we never have to talk about again. I sincerely mean that. Can you can anyone watching recall the last time we would have had a situation like this? There was something that was brought to my attention. In 2003, I'd forgotten about it and then when I saw it, I was like, I remember when this was a thing. And it wasn't as bad as what happened on Sunday. In 2003, Matt Doherty, when he was coaching at North Carolina, Chris Collins in the stiffest, most oversized tan suit you've ever seen in your life looking absolutely ridiculous. Someone get me Chris Collins on the phone right now and get a sartorial analysis of what the hell he was wearing that night. Collins gets in Doherty's face. They have to be separated. Rashad mccants was kind of evolved. This is as the game is still playing out at that point that era for North Carolina basketball. I'm sorry, UNC fans, I'm not trying to hit you with a stray here or anything like that, but that's the last time I can remember coaches in a somewhat similar situation. I actually watched the video earlier today, Mike chef, he actually kind of massaged as a situation, gets Doherty to the side, very understanding. But man, I can not, I can't remember when the last time we had something like this. And so my point is hopefully we will not have something like this yet again. I got a question here from the Llama whisperer, says considering this is juwan Howard's second coach altercation in two years. How much leniency will Michigan give Juan going forward? I don't think they're going to give him almost any. Now he isn't alum. He's one of the most famous alums in the history of the school, obviously..

"Fellas. How was like now when coach. Bela made his announcement. Choose cleveland cavaliers. At day i woke up that morning. A pair for my interview for the minnesota timbale was to be their head coach. So mom i set my focused artist little bit more moral michigan. I o that job sound very inviting you know always said it p people ask me if i ever wanna be in coaching. If i dwell ever want to consider college level. And i've always said you know. Only one school in michigan but i was apparently a head coaching the league and the one year i had three interviews and Got past and that was okay. Cool no prob. Gotta work la heart. I gotta grow a little bit more. That's what we saw from that you know like we we roll up in an prove ourselves. Let's stewart so then. The next year know season nba season ashton One-time he sees was over my asian. Hit me up and had three more interviews for three different teams and And i made the right decision. I really did. I'm forever debt to the miami heat culture and coach always say as men and i'm part of coach oceans tree and he. He's so humble man he'd all even look at it like young man championship coach hall of fame coach. Definitely being hall of fame. You know goes voters so chill. That's what makes them great man. I love it man. Tell me this how did you. You finished yo. Creo plant career miami. How was that transition into like all. Right i'm cokes. I remember sitting there. I'll talk about you. Know the staff and all of that. And he's telling me john john started was like you know he didn't know when you tell. Tell us be coaching the the summer league team satellite. How did you get to the point. Like all right on playing but now about the slide over here because it was like same as you win. Stray from playing to the bench. By what point did that come about. Those talks come about what despu approach you. What did you approach him. Yeah the first conversation talk started at. We want our second championship. And david is dale using assistant on staff phase bro fizz and tasha tasha wife. They came to the house. Hang out with me engineer. My wife We sitting in in a spot and we talk and we chopping it up. You know fears man. He got that knowledge. You know that infectious tied. We know Win thanks to you. And he'll sell it to you boy. That's going to make a sound great. Which he speaks his mind. He speaks his heart. And don is like man. We love you on staff with need you man. You know the amount of respect that these guys have for you. You've been in the locker room with them. You've been trenches with them and your voice matters and they are stabbing having no one like yourself on it. And i'm like y'all know about that. You know. Because i never wanted to be on a dark side in under you know we get on the dark side in players. Really wanna mess which would trust you Then i'll say all right man have been in trenches with these dude that built relationships man. And i don't want them look at me as like you know awesome snakes on. I'm not with them. And unlike yo prone and you know bosch and de way men in ud manlio these. My brothers men are like knock. I don't know about this. let me think about it. So then i met a rows for exit interview. Rows had already knew that i was considering joining his staff. As far as being on the Front office staff and talked about being recruit. I mean i have a crump. Sorry i'm scott scout going on the road scout And then working my way up to be a gm someday and follow his path and then rouses like well. You know what spo- had talked about. You know you joining staff. And i see a lot of coaching and teaching. You one thing about if you out there on the road as a scout you're gonna be out there by yourself and and different hotels and some hotels is not as inviting as it was when you stand it sees it as a player you start talking to and he said hey check this out. I'm going to africa for two weeks and me for vacation. And when i get back from vacation let's meet. They'll give you two weeks to decide if you wanna know the scouting around and join. If i'd officer be an assistant star player development. So i gave a talk my wife. I really didn't talk with my wife. She she she can still buy salt at me about this on the But i told her story. And i say you know. I'm the coaching mouth. And i felt that this was what. I needed spoke. He wanted a knee. It's tough to turn down any one of them by ended today. I'm still being an ma'am he family. I made that transition into coaching. Always said if. I'm going to coach. I'm not gonna play against players wanna one. I'm not gonna do shooting games with them. Because i do not want the players that think that still want to be a player. I still to get checks like a blurred sears about coaching. So i'm a shag rebound rebound them. Shag balls to them whether they need me to do buying on planning on five on five setting on a three on three. I'm not going to be that coach thinking of miami. You d like you play teams and use their key veteran for teams like teams. These days don't have veteran guy on the radio careers standard a little bit longer. Because you know. I always felt like team that you was all the reasons they signed us to keep these guys in order to keep the team for g trip yard. You see a guy like United's hassle the alaska with diarrhea for him to be like on the team and beater beat so-called guys really paying minutes but the guidance on a team that's keeping it together like speak on your diet haslemere and you. Ucla them from a young fellow said now where he's at a nice veteran. Like you were because you defame and had no we are gossiping these stories. But i do man and always tell like peop- today that more nba teams need a you. Don is has because they are not available anymore or tames. Don't wanna have veterans around. I don't know like i. I'm not in those locker rooms. But the u d on what he does for the franchise and a team. He keeps them together and the respect that they have for him. Which is he's earned respect because of what he's done in a league as a player. Three time champion mr miami. He can be the mayor of miami if he really wants to whenever organization miki madeline. They love you. D coach rows. I still call. Coach riles and spoke. They know about like what the guy has sacrificed throughout his career and yeah the organization gave back to him but they know no that you d is all about kidding person. May he got the biggest heart.

"Take jill. We get their work. They that's how deserted like only think draft pick. We see a yada august. We got two months every year. Shit i've Life but you got to put the work in you. Gotta get the deadliest. Gm used to be deserted. Like how i listen you listeners. The one thing that i always. I can't say i i try to go about it like you did but i didn't. I don't think i quite achieved the you know how like you had. You had a way. I know where you get it from nowhere you know saying. Just talk about the toughness inside. You been putting on this back remember. It was something was it. Will you with the heat when you had to go up. Pre-game light yo. Yo like say at like. In that moment. I was looking. I know it's happening right now but like this talk about. I don't know how you was able to mess the professionalism but still be able to pull chicago out. Will you need to let them know. Today never went nowhere. Yeah man it's a. It's a very unique trait that you do possess because like me like chicago. Come out his out. I can't really take you back now. So he'll say like you care from your member to one moment. I remember both was new. York moments one was saying versa teammate. And another one was versus. An opponent was playing in boston. I'm not gonna name. His name is like oh. That's my young boy married to ask my frogman man. Watch out well. You need eight assists. We're here for you but you know q. Mad they get is Sometimes i i'm going to say i i want every fight going up like lice scam factors always been that you know people mistake that and then also people look at it. You know wouldn't gotta smiley face and you respectful with everyone. And sometimes they will take that lightly but what we come from is when you reach that level step over that that rope and you try to like you know really test the man's manhood then i'm gonna see rate and when i get see red. It's going to be tough to bring me back but i'm respect. Everyone and whenever i get disrespected then that's the time when i got i got defend myself but they. We got a chance to see that. This past season when i was coaching the tournament and tournament. Bring back up but like you know that that was where you know. I'll i can't let no man draw the line by line. Man get my space because once you live one time then he or others will feel they can do the same thing and At the same time like you know research respect love that it has to be you know regardless that respect level has to be on both levels and reciprocated the part. I commend you on. Is that even though that happened. You came right out immediately and you're accountable you accountable yourselves in front of your players team as you tell them that you know that. Wasn't you know the right way to handle it although you shed light and gave insight into what happened and why it happened in you know somebody said we all nobody's perfect and everything like that. But like i have to go out of my way to salute jew for being away you are because you make it possible for other guys like you know what i'm saying. It's plenty of guys is retired from the nba. Play and you know would love to be coaching. And you know. I think it's stigma out that you and big pack go against because they say big men can't coach and all of that crap and blah blah blah and so. I made the way that you guys use. Stack out all the guys out there. Anybody missing his going out there. Coaching in the league and as well as in college head coach giles. Setting the table. By the way you you because you know how to win the women's status well but like you know how they look at us. We come through the door to do whatever the first thought is dead hickama player to think they're going to get treated like a player so like the fact that you label go in there and roll your sleeves up in really grind it out and show the i don't have none of that in me. I'm willing to work on learning like everything you said early. Like you gotta learns mentality of growth mentality all those different things that makes it so much easier for the next. Do who deserves opportunity like you and people who weren't getting those positions like you see it ain't no secret light. Might listen got the job. He'd been a head coach. He got that job completely. I feel like based upon your success that you had just had and they looking at it like man we could try and catch some that excitement in about a he's a alma mater and all of that stuff alumni school a prestigious. Do so i feel like when it needs to be highlighted that you go out there doing things the right way even from when you were at the heat you saying doing things the right way going about it the right way grinding and really working because you know i'm gonna scott and you know he knew always all up in the business over there and i'd be asking like what's going every single thing i ever heard jawad doing this. You doing great this working at that. He's learning he's dennis. Like you continue to be that example for me to how nelson go about everything. I go about ensuring be to. This is the right way to go because look at this this. This is what you've been looking at the whole time. He's continuing the change of gaming prospering. Do more great things. Because i didn't never see being a college coaching winning college national coach of the year. Doing all of these great things and recruiting in getting recruiting classes. And all that. But i mean obviously it makes sense because you want us who would wanna go play for somebody who's been through literally everything that you wish. You could go through saying like you. Didn't you didn't places. Did people aspire to get to and want to. So i mean i just feel like that need to be said l. Gecas i really not. That's impact in a way that this is in done in the future man. I appreciate that man. Thank you for knowledge in it. You know. I just always said this man. Would i got this job is bigger than me and it's not about me. It's about you know the guys that you just touched on is that are look like me and one have this opportunity. Been working so hard. Haven't had a chance yet. Guys looking forward to have an opportunity and for me to come in be trusted by our ad who someone who looks like me and to go out on a lamb and how he got beat up in the media for choosing me as a coach to run this program. I i go back to my grandmother in house raise. I'm like yeah. I can't at this up I can't because you know like there's a lot of folks that depend on..

"Edgy edgy. But i laughing. Because i'm not making fun. I played last. Because i already know how you wire and and others don't understand it so unlike their competitive dog and a boy from the shop and then we're one thing that we have to know mentioned that i think people don't talk a lot about is that she mac was and they saliva by lebron about how lebron was high q. And t. man high q. Like i feel that he'll get enough credit. It's i've i used to see them yet. Thirty in his pocket he bombed. I'm telling you like going to the games. I already know. Like knowing about the file out against side and about the harsher tier. And all of this. Because i got to try and do something all set. I'll guy damn ability. I got some type of aids at somewhere because he ain't bush like he had a full clip. The has the jumper was so it was outta here. That has jumped with that. He had with. Russia was out of here and then when he gets say. Hey where they get their. He'd take it all flash supra. He's wanna was surprised. Because like you know. I got lead like his version in orlando and toronto. They have show his talented. The way orlando pizza got widow. Lead them We got the lita. Is the top three skull umbra out of nowhere. It was like this guarantees. Joe was i was in attendance at the legendary dita's cat where he went from out of nowhere to number one. I was there i you you had. Abcd camp at princeton new momentum courts was like enrolls across vibrio. You could be way down like three. You could see him on the other end and you just see that number one seventy five. I raise up and do some crazy. I was like did and like he. I remember says on about like in the beginning because he played florida flash rookie. He right man we got this do chasing mcgrady He code dot nobody. Nobody dot hainault play. None and olive olive man went from. I'm ranked number one right. How do too good guys get into it. Like alvarez is what about favorite people at your bio gee what about how do that even be positive about. How is that even possible. That two of those great guys ever like. It's a mall. That's yeah. I get a man. It was like just hours playing for the pacers space The head coach was isaiah thomas. He know how try to get. All these boys wired to try to play like the bab acco build light land beer in how he loves the mahorn and those guys man so he had them boys juice stop. They come to denver and had jack jalen eighteen and and it's a competitive game so how was underneath the basketball to try get office a rebound and i. I sort of like you know. Put the hook and when my l. boat the boxing mouth or maybe it was vice versa. May officer rebound by. Here's what how did when. I put the elbow in across his chest man. Flip me back row. Like like a like a body slam light. So i'm sure that's not basketball here so i like popped up like no then. I think like shocked him and so they break us up so then after that as we separated jemaine o.'neil comes by tried to low slick move low hip checked. He 'cause he was only down on the other end of the floor and he running back and you know. Come on man you know. We know when somebody's doing. What a thank you know slick so then i pushed him off me one got him and i missed. So that's how that thing broke up so now trying to like go to the back. Try to meet me on the other side. I'm like no really good and You know nothing ended up happening. But that's how that situation happened without and to this day like like first week. Obviously we have great one another of person. You are right to a person man awesome. Do man just in vegas like two years ago and we we out together in You know you. We were best to frame to good guys but basketball make competitor fucking queue up every time we every tab. This work time right here manage my i. I play gives chris web in the league rookie year he first person of buzzes as og. Was yo homeboy you here. You know this is my guy. He by s we all jump hooks. I couldn't check on time. And i couldn't you athleticism then. I play ju you one of my favorites and you one moved at took from you was like every time you post of. You did a jump hook you h and death fucked up my rhythm you oppose the you a fake. We might pump fake. Or you're a fake and just go straight up so that was knocking time off and i was wondering. I steadied trying to get your book. Like man hockey. I added to my game. You know how you still before. We'll talk to you that. Because i felt like that was like your go-to move was to post up. I'm a fake. You don't know to spend all the way or i'm just gonna fake hook with. It always took the time off the defensive player. And i took that and added to my gumbo so say Light where did you get that. Move from great question. You know like i wasn't a super athletic like you guys. Man and footwork and fundamentals was what i had to have been my game in order to get myself in beijing. Get myself an opportunity. Go out there and compete and i learned that move from guy and we also may with. We know very well. Kevin mchale Kevin mckell light. You talk about being a student at a game and studying and add to your game. Like i learned it from kevin and kevin like was architect when it came to the post. Were back to the basket and now like today like watching you gauge hunter dixon. Yeah i've given him that. We work on my big. Fella austin davis. We work on that they would jump. Hook it all your move to buy especially athletic dudes that waiting time to block your shot like first of all is never going to go out of style and it's always gonna be one of the most effective moves and it's tough to blast the pry bar. I just signaled obama. Five five guys met a jump hook in this shit out. And i got stock. I can't stop as i gotta try not to let them. Just get the ball. And then like i said yours against weber. What i noticed about you no matter what you did it always.

"Yeah oh that's a cab shady to howard change how like how is still pay a cab with shady is used to love what yellow weakest player idiot and now kabul chain is on we used to go to businesses were a cavern j. Always have a good game. And i'm telling you the business man. We could not be cool cow in the man. Cow was like that and now we have we plan with him as one thing that anyone in a locker room we. Nba locker room that we are now teammates of that We could not talk trashy cow cow would win every trash talk now. Want outside the hills. People asked me about my rookie rookie year. And i was like man. It was so easy. 'cause i had shoe xiang corey. Have my guys will be did weber. Make your rookie year like a breeze route. The freezer have your guy with you. And there's going through your rookie year being your first year in the idea bro. transition as a rookie was easy way of being there because webb had jess experienced in the golden state. And you know we all know what he did his rookie year on the floor rookie of the year. And then help me navigate through the mba on how to develop a pre game routine. What is like being on a row eating on a row with him. You know having a friend a brother that i can rely on and talk to someone. Of course pat me on the back. You know when things get a little rough Being a sounding board. I was very fortunate man and i look back on that man. I don't know if i didn't have where of how i would've made my transition been a little bit target. Tell me this though like you went from holding out you saying rookie ben you get you get signed even make all rookie chain the dinner next year you the first hundred million dollar main. How do they do that. Like like the i know the people listening light way how people broke those scale. You made the scale company exist. Is you and big dog. Y'all made the whole rookie scale come into existence right. Well big made rookie scale coming into existence. When i got my deal and then cage. He got his deal and they're no allows morning got his. You didn't alonzo right. So then the cba. They wanted to change the cpa up because they felt that a lot of teams now been able to sign a lot of these top players star players on different teams. These big deals that you know what the small markets with the tv deal just was not feasible so looking back on it. We didn't line up having a lockout. I believe like a year later. Cva now because they were trying to crack down on a hundred million dollar deals exactly at the my second year man. Like i. I had to put myself my first two years. Now you may all-star second year yes and my contract my rookie deal which has signed late because of our owner and the the salary cap that was available was just totally unfair as far as know what they did as far as not slot me and my slot so they gave me a two year out to prove myself so approve myself right and the fair market value at that time was You know they could have saved a lot of money. They took care of me on the rookie deal. Then after that year that summer. You know david fog and my agent on did he came into my house and it was like man. We're gone we're gonna ask four hundred million. What are you talking about like. Don't do me like that like no. I'm cool like say no. That's what the market we want to test the market. I was like so. How was that phone. Call when you got the word like yeah we. Don't we got you honey win twelve. Oh one had met in free agency. I first meeting. I was and i think it was what miami heat and then the new york knicks came in like two of them on detroit. Pistons came back. Met like about three in the morning. And i'm in my asian office but alonzo there 'cause he represented by david. Talk to you know the next day. Washington came in and like eighty four. And you know here. I have miami at one hundred point too. I remember it like it was yesterday. And i got alonzo. Mourning one the best centers and pat reid head coach. Tim hardaway tim hardaway point guard. And i'll like. Wow you know we tell my getting. Pj brown around like yell. We're gonna have a hell of a team ain't got bouchon leonard there to letter so wash them. A heart was washington by washington. Still was the not want to take it up to that market level. Where i'm like yellow. Let's be real about it now. You've got one hundred and you got no people. Don't know this but detroit and new york was offering one twelve and i chose miami heat and miami and jeff wexler. You know jeff. You're eight devil. Was there well. He knows the whole story. You know how all went down and I was like. I'm going to junk center right here. You know i hate leaving web. I did not want to leave web. I was in tears. Max and i wanted to play with washington as like you know what businesses business. That's how they gonna treat it. Well i'm going to miami right ami Wa nba disallow that contract. They were like we got. Avoid isn't s when washington. We got a to get him for the second time. Well let's go ahead and sign up for one zero five but the owner was not happy with that at all whatsoever. You know. I really credit the late. Westbound sale must not sell wants a law. He was the one that really spoke on behalf. So so let me ask you. This is the perfect. Time for my. You know because this is that was the bag you got the one. Oh five so you know. I like to ask the question you know. We all from humble beginnings you from nonsense. Jags field me. What my old z. Aka mike larry do when he got that one zero five. What did you do. Many talk about changing unlike young people can change like a man like you say talk trash to every one speaking up every play on the floor also talking trash. You know like a coach. Don't let a coach say someone assistant coach ours over a referee. Like one time we were planning on nortre dame and jalen was talking to one or players and then fans was going at it too. You know so that just really getting going and referee we sit on the free throw line. He smiling because he knows his smile is like talking trash. That's the thing so so like he. Smiler ref like joe jalen star smiling. And i have a high until anyone stop smiling jalen. Don't tell them stop doing some old so he still smiling the wrath. Give them a check. And like i'm not making this up and i'm is a true story so that right there was like that. Let me know that. somebody's folks. i guess they don't want to see to succeed. Monty Williams the Suns' Top Target for Coach - Where does that leave the Lakers?

"Williams manned up going to Phoenix. Which would which would now put the Lakers coaching search back at three if kids in the mix, it would be either Tyronn Lue whose scheduled interview again tomorrow Juwan Howard who scheduled interview later in the week or kid if Monte goes to Phoenix or as Greg suggested he could also get the job in Philadelphia if they fire Brett Brown, but it appears Brett Brown is on the verge of getting them to the. Second round, by the way to let's not bury the lead on something. This interview was conducted by rob Pelinka and Kurt Rambus, which would lead you. I've been telling people is that who's do. I I understand that. But I'm saying it leads you to believe that part of this. Vacuum isn't just being taken up the power. Vacuum isn't just being sucked up by rob Pelinka. Kurt Rambis is putting himself in a position to gain more power. Well, I think it's already there. However, you want to phrase it it's been reported. And I, you know, a full disclosure here. Kurt's a neighbor of mine, I know him I like them. Occurred Kurt started traveling with us in the middle of the season. Just to be basically an observer. Well, I mean he was brought on as I forget the exact title by magic. I think it was last year like a basketball L salt because something like that like it or not the Lakers are a family business. The Lakers in US have this comment. Yes, they do. They they USC hires Trojans because they think Trojans will get we'll get there say something as an alum. I don't like it. Yeah. And what the Lakers are cutting a page out of that. I mean, if you want to really find the connective tissue. Dr bus was a Trojan there you go. But I think so I think you're going to hear Kurtz name a lot. I think Kurtz going to be around giving Jeannie trust him. And he's going to be giving nothing personal against Kurt. This is not how I do it. I think they are making a real mistake that insulate I just mean the tendency towards installation right there making a real mistake. But okay, so Kurt Rambis, and rob Pelinka interviewed Jason Kidd yesterday doesn't this prove that I'm right in Mason's wrong. That there is no shadow console. No, she does this. Honestly does this team? So far seem organized enough to pull off the shadow GM thing with women talking about that that would be an incredibly hard thing in this day and age to even orchestrate no I mean, I would love to feel confident enough in the Lakers that they could actually pull off the shadow GM very hard to do. Yeah. I don't feel. They can do it hard to do.
