David always nice to have you on the program always with a twinkle in your eye. So we look at meta higher revenue at a time when the company is reducing costs. That's a pretty great recipe for profitability, so that's one thing. And with that, metaverse, what metaverse? Right, exactly. They didn't reduce costs enough because revenues went up and profits did not go up profits are considerably down compared to revenue. But clearly, they're moving in a good direction managerially. And that's a big change because I think many people were starting to wonder was this company really beginning to hit the skids or going in some very seriously wrong direction I think as a number of the commentaries this afternoon have suggested that those problems and those concerns are now behind us and the question is really just how strong is the advertising market going to be? And also, you know, do they really care about the metaverse and are they willing to keep losing $4 billion say that again $4 billion each quarter as they did this time in order to pursue it. Now I'm not talking about talked a lot about AI and did make a point of emphasizing that the metaverse was still important. Many say that he's the only one who's really committed to something which is quite nebulous and perhaps they don't even have a lead in it. If people concerned that he'd actually become all consumed by it, what's your take? Well, he is consumed by it and I felt that from the time that they changed the company name back in October of 2021 that they were overemphasizing it. But I will say, you have to acknowledge these platforms the way they operate will not stay the same forever. If we, you know, I think the big mistake that Facebook meta has made is going whole hog into the metaverse rather than augmented reality goggles, kinds of things where we can integrate the real world with the virtual world, which I do see as the future. Now this guy is such a good manager that I wouldn't at all be surprised if he makes a pivot in that direction in the not distant future. To be clear, I said that higher revenue at a time when you're reducing costs is a great recipe for profits and not necessarily that in this last quarter. But it does sort of bring this question up that why does AI spending work, but metaverse spending doesn't for the market? Well, I think when metaverse revenues were cut in half this quarter, even as the losses grew, that's just not the kind of thing that any mathematician really wants to see. And most investors have a pretty good sense of math. So AI, they don't brag about the amount of money they spend on it in the same way. They don't have a whole division for it, but they are absolutely incorporating AI systems in just about every part of their business in ways in many cases that we can not see. And we may never see. But this is a company that understands AI that has some of the world's leading AI workers and researchers and scientists and is going to continue to move aggressively in incorporating AI into its business. But it's not a business unit the way that metaverse is. And I think that investors are going to basically ask them in coming months and quarters to cut back on those losses. You can't just lose 4 billion every quarter and keep going like that. How would you rate this stock? Right now, I would kind of call it a hold myself. I mean, I thought when it went down close to 80, it was ridiculously cheap. It has just gone up so much in really, it was precipitated. The rise that we are still in the midst of was precipitated by the announcement of the layoffs. Last year. And, you know, I think that was something of an overreaction. You know, obviously it's still a giant company with 3 billion daily users across its platforms. It's got enormous potential, but it's very highly valued right now compared to what we thought it was worth a very recent time ago. So I don't think that you can just expect it to go back to the moon or over surpass its previous highs in the near future myself. So the stock going from 88 to two O 9 here since November, which is pretty impressive. And a lot of that, as you say, was due to cutting costs. Are they the poster boy for that? And with the other companies that you look at, does that come in? Even more. Well, there's a lot of poster children for cutting costs and layoffs in the tech industry these days. I think they seem to have done it effectively, but

the DNC statement from earlier today they will have the Wisconsin center district they will have hotels available they will have the Fiserv form to use but still a lot of questions and a lot of talking about your typically delegates pay their own way so my my guess is you have a lot of the people who are potential delegates party activists who have been caught up in again everything that's seventeenth I consider this extremely good news and I think it's a sign of how sensitive the Democratic National Committee is to that health needs not only of our of our residents but the health needs of people throughout this nation I think we all recognize that increasingly it looks more and more difficult for us to host this convention during the week of July thirteenth through the sixteenth but in my conversations that I've had with the comfort with the delegation and with that outcome convention organizers excel as well as my can conversations with chairman Tom Perez it was always clear to me that they are committed to nominating the next democratic presidential nominee here in the city market and I think that this announcement today underscores their commitment to doing that I think it's also extremely important because at a time where we are navigating the most tumultuous public health issue we have faced in our lifetime increasingly one of the most precarious economic situations we are in bed hopefully and I say this with a great deal of hope that by mid August that this will serve as a very very important shot in the arm for our local businesses so that they can X. expect to have visitors here how many visitors we don't know how many days the convention we don't know but I think what really allow this to happen again was a recognition by the Democratic National Committee and time president Joe somebody said particular it was very very important to remain committed to Wisconsin to be remain committed to Milwaukee and because they know we've got a lot of work say no that this is something it's important to us I would say this at the local level as excited as we have been we continue to be very excited about hosting this convention over the last month month and a half our city resources and I think IT resources throughout this community have been committed to dealing with the cold with nineteen crisis and become current economic crisis that it's developing in other words it's exciting is we've been about the convention it immediately got moved to the back burner but it never got taken off I never got taken off the stole and it's gonna remain on the back burner in terms of what we're doing right now in trying to address the public health crisis and deal with the economic crisis but by having this additional month of breathing room we are hoping that this will allow us then to pivot once we're moving out of these turbulent waters and use this as a very very important shot the iris I set that up to moving the community forward so again I've had conversations with German president conversations with Joe Solmonese with right elbow moderates in the host committee and I know that they've reached our device reform to this concert center district to others in the community to make sure availability it was something that we can work with and everyone we've talked to has been very very accommodating I'm very thankful for that obviously they're going to have to be somebody just listener being made along the way but this is a challenging time and I think what you saw here was a a commitment to the process of commitment to
