"How fuller first round pick. He wasn't drafted by the Broncos. So we have we have three first round picks. I'm just doing this off the top of my head, so I may be missing somebody. So von Bradley Chub and now Patrick Ser Tan, or all first round picks on the defensive side. They have paid. Hey. More than insignificant amount of money to Justin to Justine Simons to Kareem Jackson to Kyle Fuller to Bryce Callahan. A paid Shelby Harris a decent chunk of change as an extension. I would say that the Denver Broncos have invested quite a bit in a big Fangio where to sit up there last night and say, I don't really like this group. I think I need more talent. I would kind of Gonna be weird. He should like it. Again. I ask the question. If Vic Fangio is a defense of genius, does he have to have this much talent when there is a glaring hole on the side of football? I get it. Gotta go back and forth. You gotta balance out. Last night was the perfect opportunity. And said no. Another first round pick going the defense of sign. 5 to 2987 to take your thoughts on the Broncos, adding certain what would you like tea for them to do tonight? Couple of you Try Ming in with other things. Because really As fans of a F C West teams. Better not based in Las Vegas. We can all bond in come together over the Raiders making a poor decision in the first round of the draft, so we'll bond over that. When we come.

"You're gonna pay a safety to be the highest paid player at his position on the team that still looking for a quarterback. That makes no sense to me. The one thing that I told you and I've been talking about BK over the last Week or so, two weeks is that you pay For past defense when you have all the other areas of your team, right like that should be the Let that that's the one area or you could pay at the end and go get him. But for you to make your championship run, But until you get your quarterback toe have a highly paid corner or safety on your team, man. That just does not make sense to me. I don't know about you, but that doesn't make sense to me. Well, I'm not disagreeing fundamentally what you're saying. Under the assumption with what you're gonna pay Justine Simons is that Drew La Castille, your quarterback for at least another year. Who and he's on a rookie deal. If you can't acquire a veteran via trade, and you're just bringing in and then we know your stance about bringing in Andy Dalton's of the world if you can't trade for two Shawn Watson, a Russell Wilson and I don't think Russell's going anywhere but if you can't land one of those guys Then the next quarterback is almost certainly going to be someone you draft if it's not true lock, So you're still gonna have to lock for two more years on a rookie deal or you're gonna draft another quarterback, and you can continue to pay some of the other position players to help. Try to keep her team in games and make plays while you're trying to figure that out. We all know that without a quarterback, none of the rest of this matters, but you guys gonna let guys walk to play other young and experience guys and hope there is good is Justine Simons right now the top safety in the league average annual is making between Fort 14 14.5. So that means to make him the highest paid safety. You've got to be in 15 million bucks a year. While that doesn't sound I know palatable to you. I think that will be palatable to them. They paid him 12 or 13 million this year. I think, 12.5 whatever that number was, so it's only an increase of a couple million bucks for a guy that hasn't missed. This happened three years. He's the opposite of rice college boy. But once again this is not about this is not about out. You know, this is this is about value and knowing when to pull the trigger to pay somebody I'd rather get draft capital not being totally honest, which I'd rather get equivalent draft capital out. Of Justine Simons third round pick because that's the highest think you could get us a compensatory pick when he signs somewhere about in a trade a sign and trade deal. I mean, we're seeing more MBA style drink. Uh, Want MBA style deals done in the end in the NFL, Does he not have any value? What? I don't think he does, But we have yet to see full blown sign and trades were seeing salary dumps, but we're not seeing. Hey, let's sign this guy and then trade them to you because of the way the NFL bonus structure and salary cap works. That's why Jared Goss bonus is still being paid by the Rams, even though he's now getting his salary paid by by Elaine, if by Detroit And if Carson Wentz castrated, the Eagles have to swallow a huge chunk of that bonus, because they're the ones who ain't into that deal, So the NFL economics are different than the embassy. I'm not saying fundamentally wrong. I just don't see it happening. So.

"Oh, it is video Get always today. The anniversary of this being the first video played on MTV. Ah, See, there you go. Would be the relevance of the song. No, That's just the only reason why this song is relevant at all. Okay. I don't like today's University. By the way, I just said that about Chris Godwin. Bruce Arians is they were celebrating. I just saw this tweet 40 minutes ago, said your blank ain't going nowhere either to Chris Godwin. So no, it's nice to say that it's another thing when agents and And cat. People get together and say Watership. Yeah, I don't like we want. We want you for eight. He's like I could get 14 somewhere else. So it's hold on. I think this is the time Brady of not this is truly Time Brady effect. Look, man stick here, Play here in Tampa Bay. Take a little less money. Don't pay state taxes, Stay here and let's go win two more Super Bowls. Listen, man, this is this is to me. This is the ultimate sales pitch that's going on in NFL. I've seen it work. I mean, we did it with the Denver Broncos. We did with my teams. We did it with Ah, Peyton's teams man when you have that guy, and he's been given the juice like Tom Brady has been given the juice there in Tampa Bay. To call the right place to get into the right place to work with the coaching staff man. That's the right situation, bro. I mean, that is one. That's the one situation. That Patrick Mahomes will get to later down the line that he doesn't have right now about every person that kind of touchdown pass to the Super Bowl. Wasn't on the team until Tom Brady got there, right, and Tom Brady was the advocate form. Mike Evans was my Kevin's gonna make $12.2 million next year. Chris Godwin's made $3 million in four years, so I don't know what that number is. I'm not saying you're wrong. But this isn't the MBA. And I think about Draymond Green when he signed his big deal, and it wasn't a Max deal, and when he was asked, why didn't you ask for more money? You said Look. I am making whatever Still $100 million he goes, That's not going to change anything in my life. I'm still gonna live in a very nice house in the same block and do the same things I was doing, but that gives us extra money to go out and get more guys and then, by the way, they signed Kevin Durant shortly thereafter and that will help us one more championships That will change my life. But very much perspective is a little different because NBA money is different than NFL money When Chris Godwin Only three at $3.8 million he's made in four years. It's gonna be tough for him The have his agent look across the table. Jason lighter virtually and said, Hey, we want it back, but we couldn't do three years. 24 1, another team of fame. Five years. 90 or whatever. After Mark Cooper got 100 million in over five years last year from the Cowboys. I know the economics gonna be different, but Chris Godwin's one of the top two or three players on the market right now as a true free agent. Okay. Obviously AJ Bouvier got released today and you did talk to us about that in in early December that you thought that that was the plan so that that's the first move that George Payton has done as the new general manager of the Broncos. How fast and furious now do these moves continue to go forward. Well, I think the next move that makes the most sense is the other one that I told you guys about it, and that's General Casey. The differences there is that drill. Casey is still injured and going through rehab, so if they were toe Release, and now they have to come with an injury settlement and pay him some portion of the almost $12 million that he's getting, and that's about how much we're gonna clear with boy 12 million. It'll come off the cap that taken cough the payroll that they can use other places where guys like Justine Simons and von Miller, perhaps her or shall be Harris. So I think Casey is next and then I'm guessing the conversations after that. Are likely with either well John James Stevie's Gonna Stay room. He's going to stay opting out and maybe retire. We're gonna assume he's not because I was saving a bunch of money, but it's perhaps some sort of restructuring with Kareem Jackson. It's a team option for $12.8 million. So for a guy that's now well into his thirties. He's what 31 32. I'm double checking right now. He's 32. He'll be 33 by the time the year Stars is birthday's next month. What does AH Multiyear deal look like if if one and all for cream, but I think it's Casey. First, I think, Scream and then a name that I brought up when we had that conversation about boy Rice. Callahan's got one year left at 8.5 million. And while we know how good he's been when he's on the field, the biggest issue is that he hasn't been on the field a lot. So do you just continue to go young or do you pay in that final year? Here? You don't the restructure, but I think those were the three names. That you're talking about that you might let go or might rework. And then von Miller's a separate conversation and Justine Simons new contract is also a different conversation. But those air in order and so there's a long answer your question. I think I think Casey's up next very likely, but he has to be healthy first for them to then release it. Wow. You make it sound like it's justice Simmons deal is is gonna happen and that this is just a matter of time. It feels inevitable because in George Payton can say whatever he wants, but in multiple interviews and getting the sense talking to people in that building. Vic really wants that. We know how how much his defense relies on good secondary play. Good safety play, especially And you're thinking said. We're not in the habit of getting rid of our our own young players are good young players, and that's who Justin is. And then Justin had a sit down interview with Channel four last week, where he told Michael Spencer that he went over and was at the facility and met George and didn't talk about football once just kind of got to know him, and and I think, sometimes the little things like that. Can help. Uh, what could be a contentious negotiation on? That would be that contentious because the guy that's negotiating for the Broncos was Justine Simmons agent firm for the last four years until the Broncos hired him last year, So I think that it will get done to question of what is that number look like because of these economics and maybe the bonuses higher, But the per year is less or whatever accounts this year is, you know, spread out. I just think it feels like A Z Muchas any move that they're going to make this offseason re signing Justine Simmons feels the one that if I were going to place a bet on draftkings or bet rivers or any other happy wanted to use, I would bet Justine Simons is back and he's the highest paid stake in football. That to me. That just makes no sense. I'm just gonna be Honest with you. You're gonna play..

"Almost have to sign Justine Simons, who I think is a hell of a good player. You could literally be committing like 26. Maybe $27 million to your two starting safeties. I would have to think that would be That would be the top five of the NFL and maybe in the top half of the top five and they need a quarter cornerback help. That's what they need back there, but both their safeties they're ranked in the top 100, the League of players, not just safety players. Karim's deal was 19 33,002,003 years. $1920 just last year here, so I would imagine there's no, there's no bonus. He probably has no guaranteed money that the Broncos I believe the Broncos should they release cream Jackson could save On their salary cap. I mean, there are economic reasons to contemplate that move for sure. And a couple of others on the team. I mean, you're all cases. In a similar situation. Maybe Corinne takes her haircut. Dad comes back. Yeah, especially if I like her. I think Karim's hell of a player me to his detractors. If that's the right way it is Term. It would say, I'm gonna interceptions. I think he had one interception this year, but he's a tone setter. For me. He's a safety that can play in the middle of the field. But if you want to bring him down I mean, he didn't look like he'd be that guy, but he's that guy. He's that guy that in the box, Concetta sort of momentum in a game simply with A well placed big time hit. Right. He's to me. He's the juice. He's one of the juice. Guys of the defense. I just like the way place and I understand the economics of it. But I would hate I would hate to let him walk out the door. I was a little surprised They didn't play him a cornerback this year, especially last year, too. When they had all the problems, they just kept him at the safety position. What do you think They did that when they had a guy that played corner for nine years in the league? Yeah, but he's He's played nine years in the league, so maybe they already lost a step. Yeah. I mean, I don't think Kareem could play on a regular basis. I don't think Kareem complain corner. I think Kareem is hell of a safety. His his career, and he rightfully mentioned that started a corner. But now I think it's I think it's safety, but they have. They have to have a couple corners, whether in the draft or You know, at a bus stop. You got to find a couple guys in the ever And hopefully Callahan comes back healthy. Is he had a heck of a year. Yeah, until he got hurt. Yeah. If he comes back plays like he did last year, and you get a A either in the draft or trade or whatever. Really solid cornerback on the other side, Even even in the first round, there's talk that they'll take a cornerback. That'll be interesting, too. I think that would be an upset. If the number nine picture they keep. It is not a corner. Minutes in Patrick's retained his name mentioned the kid from Virginia Tech, those of the two top corners on most people's boards. So I would think the Broncos would have an interest there if they keep the ninth overall pick 7 to 0635. Can you get your head around 40 year? Mm. No. Nobody could do that. Nobody. Nobody. I know Wayne Newton. You think when even I don't know Wayne Newton. You make that kind of money. Mr Las Vegas. Rick, is he still there? You were there last weekend. I didn't see him. He's still on the marquee anywhere. He's on the marquee, encouraging people to wear masks. We walk in the airport, he's only worth 50 million. Well, they didn't get his head wrapper. Oh, yeah, my 50 50. Yeah, yeah. 7193861. Thanks Goodness. Thank goodness for this. "That least we've been using a little more on this show, which is More investing in the rest of the team for more investing and taking your shots a quarterback? Sure, absolutely. But again, using all of your top in draft capital for this one position. If you miss it zig difficult, right? And the other part of this is you know you are staring a defensive reload and rebuild right in the face. Yes, of course. How much longer Gonna have von Miller que Jack's 32 33 years old. Are you sure that you're getting Justine Simons back? We think we are and that's fine. But you're not 1% sure yet. You probably need to put the tag on his negotiating ploy. Alexander Johnson's 30 years old. Shelby Harris is like 28. Micro cell. He was 2027 28. The real KC Nejedly a. Probably not gonna be back and looked at Buck's team last night. I mean, they had some vets upfront, but their secondary pretty young. Yeah, The second is very young. It's a front seven. It's was where all the even the front seven. I mean Labonte, David's long tooth, But white isn't you know she's young, but they have some guys they can build around right and say, even including shack buried in there, But they have some guys they could build around The point is the Broncos pre much every single level. All three levels might be having to make some major decisions here very soon, and they need to be younger, right? Several of us quite a two thirds of each levels got age, you know, because once they do find their window You like like the table? Buccaneers? Did. They just kind of found their window right with when Tom Brady got there. They found the window. Well, they can sustain that. For a while. Is the defense largely young? The biggest decision you have to make his own shack. Barrett. Well, right, but mostly shock, Perry. On the offense. They're gonna make a decision on Chris got one. But the point is, that team can largely stay intact based on the fact that they've done a good job drafting, especially in the secondary on the defensive side. The Broncos like you said. They kind of been with the final remnants of that Super Bowl 50 team, which really is just Von Miller. At this point, Miller McManus e. That's got it, And so they kind of been, but they've been sort of patch working it together. Some vets now is time to actually invest on the defensive side. Why does this say that's why you got the money? You need to roll the cap forward. Now is the time to invest and you need to go go out there and get younger to couple positions two and you can't get younger if you don't draft picks. "Obviously now the problem with that one is that you know, Von Miller is a guy that You know, dealing with him off the field issues currently, but also is going to be 32 next season on, you know, it's coming off, you know, season ending injury, So you know, you look at that one. And maybe that's one that you you have to switch out Von Miller for Bradley Chubb on Give up three first plus through locked plus Tim Patrick. You know, I think that one would sting the Broncos a bit a bit. But again, I think that's something that you have to be willing to give up. So I picked. You know one of those two, but I think you're gonna have to give up some good players. I mean, I think that's the key to understanding. The thing is Whether it's Justine Simons or Bradley job or even in the league. Reid who I know that even the most flashy name, but he's played a lot for the Broncos last few seasons and has provided a lot of depth. Maybe even a von Miller who I know is the beloved guy around here. You know, you're gonna have to give up. Not only some, you know, really good draft picks, You know three, possibly three first rounders, but also some star players. And I think that that was the point of the story is it's gonna take a lot to get Watson and you look at you know a couple of other teams that You would think their favorites in Miami and for Jets may have a lot more to offer, And they also have more first round picks to give on, and they also have some young talent that they can also give up that matches what Denver hasn't I think you know one thing, though, that take into account here, eyes that walks in will have a say in this and you know, if you look at those other teams that I mentioned, you know, I think the Broncos are right there in terms of Coming in and winning immediately. You look at their young roster, the weapons that would be around them a defense that has progressively gotten a little bit better with a guy like mixed angio in charge there. I think that You know they're appealing, but you look at what the other teams can offer. It's going to be something that's gonna be really tough for the Broncos to pull off. George story, That is that, my guess, but to reiterate talking about what the Broncos would have to give up. That's the advantage that they disadvantage that their ad is that the Jets can offer the number two pick. And the Dolphins can offer the number three pick and the immediate payout, especially if the Texas they're trying to sell this to their fan base, who should be allowed to go to football games at some point in the near future, and they have to buy tickets in order to do that. The Broncos are at a disadvantage there because they don't have quite the immediate payoff, especially when you look at the way that the draft board if you believe mock drafts are starting to kind of Uh, Crystallizing stuff. You You kind of noticed that the Broncos field just outside of the really juicy first round pick range to where you could grab for sure. Franchise player. So where the Broncos consent themselves apart is by offering the NFL talent that the Jets certainly can offer. And I don't even know that the Dolphins can I think that the Dolphins This sum of their parts is greater than the individual's right. They don't have a ton of skill talent. Um, they signed Byron Jones to the massive deal. They won't get rid of him, but it's like the Dolphins. They're really good team, but they don't have the individual pieces like the Broncos. Yeah, Look, I think it's really going to come down to what is the what do the Texans front off? Think about this draft and really the next draft because If they're willing to, you know, come to, you know, have a drew lock come in for a year and you know, playoff season and, you know, likely lose a lot of games and then you go get your quarterback in 2022. Then then, you know, maybe the Broncos or the team that does get it done. But if they strongly believe that they can, you know, go out and get it. Zach Wilson or Justin Field that at number two. Um You know what the Jets pick and you know, I think the Jets are in that league, but I think you're right. I think it's You know there's disadvantages and advantages for the Broncos both ways, but it's going to come down to a lot. What Watson wants to do. Really? You know, I can see him as a guy that would Would want to go to Miami. You know, I think that, um You know, you really like the coach there? Brian Flora's, You know, you do have Ah, good wide receiver and Devante Parker. You know, there's not a ton of weapons other than that there, but you know, the Dolphins did win. I think you know, 10 or 11 games this season on you put into Sean walking in there, and you know all the sudden you're going to get a little bit better, obviously so You know, I think you look at all those teams and I think all of them you could say have an advantage or disadvantage. But I think that candidate's gonna come down to what is watching. Wanna do? What if you wanna live, you know, you know, I know that they're talking about the Texans interviewing Eric the enemy and, you know, maybe if they make that higher that can keep the shot walks in there, But I think it's gonna come down to what is Watson want to do? And Do. The Texans believe that they can get their their future quarterback? They do. Give up Watson in this draft or in 2022 or 2023. I guess it kind of depends on how long does that front office wanna wait to make their next move? Which is interesting because they also have a new GM, and it's gonna be Obviously an intriguing off season. You know in Houston and see what what they're going to do, moving forward because right now from the outside looking in, it's a dumpster fire on so it'll be interesting to see what they do and how it affects the Bronco's moving forward. What have you heard as far as you're in, although Hill in the Chargers, Is there anything substantial to that, or is it just? He's one of the guys they're bringing in. What's the What is that all about? With brain and Staley taking over there in L. A Well, I think you know right now, there's not There's not too much to go off of other than you know him interviewing. It makes sense, right? I mean, Ronaldo obviously has a close relationship with stately and during their time here and in Denver, but I think you also look at what happened this year with the Broncos and Ed Donatell obviously Um, you know, being out so many games this season as the defensive coordinator when Otto Hill was one of those guys that Victor NGO specifically pointed out that somebody that kind of took over the reins there, I've been really helped out on the defensive side of the ball when Donatella couldn't be at practice there or at games, and so it makes a lot of things I think would be probably pretty good higher for the Chargers. It certainly would be interesting to say that, you know, two of vics, you know, Assistant coaches, you know, went on for, you know, a head coaching job. And, um, you know, defensive coordinator position in the bin is only two years here and you know his record. It's not very good. And so it's interesting to see that his his coaching tree is already you know, branching out. So you know, it makes a lot of sense. I'm sure they'll bring in other people for interviews, but I would definitely consider him one of the favorites to maybe land that job. You could read more of George's stuff in either the car off springs or Denver Gazette gazette dot com or on your.

"Payton as he takes the reins of the Denver Broncos, whether he will or he won't have John Elway breathing down his neck. For the purposes of our discussion today is a relevant If you want to have that separate discussion, we can Whether it's George Payton or John Elway or the brain trust at Dove Valley. They have some decisions to make when it comes to They're pending free agents because as good of financial shape as the Broncos Aaron with the cap, and there are pretty good there in a pretty good spot. If they stick with drew lock. If they don't stick with your luck. If they decide to go the veteran quarterback route and I'm not talking Jamis Winston Marcus Mario to hear I'm talking big Carson Wentz, Matt Stafford, Matt Ryan, Dak Prescott, Jimmy Garoppolo. These guys that are gonna fetch a not only Well, you have to give up something of significance to get them, but you'll end up having to absorb quite a large salary. For all intents and purposes, what the Broncos have now in salary cap space. Without Justine Simons signed without Von Miller signed Phillip Lindsay. Or Shelby Harris. They have the amount of money it would take for them. To bring in a Matthew Stafford. Or a Carson Wentz or a Dak Prescott. So if you decide that that's the route of the Broncos decide that's the route they're going. Then it becomes a one in one out scenario. You want to bring back Shelby Harris. You gotta cut drill. Casey, you want bring back Ah, von Miller. DACA AJ boy you want? Bring back Justine Simons, You gotta cut Ah! Cream, Jackson. Like it doesn't have to be those exact guys. But Once you use up the rest of your salary cap space, bringing in Veteran quarterback. That is paid like a franchise Q B You're going to have to basically cut a player. For each one of these pending free agents that are going in going to probably fetch a decent amount on the open market. Some calculations have had Justine Simons about 15.5 million. And George Payton said yesterday. That one thing that he wants to make sure they the Broncos do under his reign. Is not lose their best young players. And said that specifically about Justin's in While John Elway couldn't get a deal done with Justine Simons, perhaps George Payton camp Justine Simons is at the top of the priority list for George Payton and John Elway. In my opinion, as he probably should be. That's probably the number one guy that is due to be a free agent that you want to bring back. If you bring in a franchise quarterback and you bring back Justine Simons, you got cut somebody. Oh, and by the way, you're probably gonna have to let von Miller, Phillip Lindsay and Shelby Harris Co I'm not trying to deter anybody. If you're somebody who thinks that drew off, ain't it And you want the Broncos to go out and get a veteran quarterback? You and Ira of of the same mind or let's say to Sean Watson. Because we may disagree on Matthew Stafford or cards wins, or we all agree on to Shawn wants in. Right, and he just signed his extension. I don't know if it kicks in this year. But for argument's sake, let's say that We can all agree with this. John wants and so if you're trying to bring into Sean wants in who's going to be paid? 25 to $30 million somewhere in that range. You know you can't afford all of these guys. I think that's the best way for the Broncos. Best route for the Broncos to go. Not just just John Watson, which is everybody's best route to go. But even to me and Matthew Stafford, if they don't You know? Achieved the pipe dream of landing to Shawn Watson. Then to me, Matthew Stafford should be the next guy on their list. So I'm okay with the repercussions when it comes to the salary cap. So I said what I would do Is I would Bring in Matthew Stafford or save the money for a veteran quarterback. I would bring back Simmons and von Miller. How is Tyler? You know Points out. If they move on from bond that's going to free up some space. It will it'll free up right now. It frees up 22 million, but I'm telling you that Freeing up bond right now. That's the original figure that came to 32 million. So if you're thinking Well, if we let Vongo Broncos get even more in cat, No, that's what it would be. You let von Miller go. You do not pick up his team option. You have $32 million and cap space to start. Free agency in the draft. So the guys that you will be releasing in order to free up more room would be cream. Jackson General Casey Age. A boy, Bryce Kallen. So if I'm looking at, I set aside the money for veteran quarterback Bring back Justine Simons. And I bring back von Miller. If his If its problems with Parker police become real problems and legal things. Then? I don't know. I think that makes the Broncos Let's presume innocence until proven guilty. On Miller's innocents of it..

"Sports Time with BK. And you about the new GM Seems like a nice guy. You guys. New Broncos general Manager George Payton has a number of Things Highness to do list, including figure out the team's playing for both Von Miller and Justine Simons. But Miss Peyton was introduced yesterday. The player most people want to know about, including Logan and Luis was quarterback to lock here's Peyton on K Away, telling David Rick what he thinks of the Broncos Young, several caller know first and foremost, I want to come to my own conclusion, and then when we get in the meetings, I'll listen. No. What's What's this kid's background like work ethic? All the intangible stuff that you can't see on tape and a little I know of Drew and I spoke with him The other day is he's hungry, and he wants to be great. You know, he's talented. "Most of the senior Bowl? We'd you know how much staff you're bringing, and then kind of bigger picture. How quickly are you going to be able to start delegating with this weird offseason people to do stuff? And will you rely on assistant coaches to help with a lot of the evaluation to because of the limitations of not being able to go to the combine? Or maybe it was much pro day wise and all that. Yeah, I've already started delegated. I mean, we have a great staff have a great college staff, and I'm gonna start meeting with them tomorrow and then in regards to the coaches there, they're gonna be involved in the whole process. The interview process and And, you know, typically, they've always have been where I've been, so they're gonna be involved, and we're gonna value their opinion on in regards to senior bowl. I'm still still up in the air. I'm just trying to See how I get through this week with I'm gonna be with college scouting department in the pro scouting department and then make a decision from there. So sorry, can answer that. OK, George. Thanks for taking the time here, guys Who will be next is bring John back up on ST George. Thank you guys Appreciate it. Mm hmm. John, you hear? Yes, sir. Okay. We'll start with Brian. How never pose questions now for John Elway from the pressure on you guys interviewed all first time GM candidates. What about George's experience was appealing to you. Well, obviously, any time you have 25 years of history in this league, and you know what his background and where he's been, and I think that you know his reputation within the league is tremendous. And so I think All those things combined, Um, you know, put him at the top of the cliffs, and we're just thrilled that it worked out to think that you know, George reputation, I think is unmasked up to this point for all the first time. G. M's. And so you know, I think I'm really like was the fact that he had it up. Other opportunities I said in the opening is that he had other opportunities. And you know this was a you know, a guy that wasn't just looking to jump as a GM but was looking for the right situation. And I want to be great what he did, And it was that that was the key thing is wanted me He would be great at what he does, and he also wants to have the resource is the ability to do what he wants to do. And I think that he saw that in Denver. You mean You know he has that opportunity, and you know, so we're thrilled that he took the job. Before we got fire in general said it found thanks for the time you told me when you changed positions that you would be involved in big decisions and that included von Miller. Will that include Justine Simons? And how does that work then? You obviously it George gets settled. But will you be involved in those John? Or you're gonna let him assess it and then kind of report back to you what he thinks. You guys should you specifically with von and Justin, and I think that you know George is going to do is work on both those situations. Obviously, you've got to get activated to the new position in the new job gets to know everybody on. There's a lot of different things that are gonna go on and You know, obviously bond and just in order to two of the bigger things that you know he's gonna have to address And so I'm like I said, When I moved up, I'm planning on being a sounding board form and any information that I can give him to help him make a better decision. I'm going to do And so that's kind of my role in the role that I'm looking forward to, especially with knowing everybody in the building and the team and so Dia will help George and support him in any way I can. We'll do a few more before bringing pickup at burning yourself. Down kind of back to what you were saying about George versus the other candidates because you had knowledge a decade ago. What? You didn't know it had to rely on other people around you. The fact that he had been Doing so many different things over so many years on the personnel side was that what made him the most attractive was that he checked the most boxes because he had done it all, I guess. Yeah, I think you know, you look at the track record where he'd been and what they've done in Minnesota. They had a tremendous track record up there and get success up there and then a lot of good things and the draft as far as moving around the draft as well as what they didn't free agency. And certain pieces that they needed to add. So you know, I think the one thing too is you Look at it. They were always aggressive, you know, and always trying to get better, and it may not be the most, uh, popular thing to do. But if they thought it was the best thing for the Minnesota Vikings, that's what they did. And I'm sure that he was a big piece of that that conversation. So therefore, you know, you want a guy that's not afraid to take chances, and then we'll do not necessarily the popular thing. But what's the best thing for the Denver Broncos? And I think that was one thing that was very intriguing. Next one information. Hey, John, In the interviews you have with George. What sort of impression did he make? And did he say anything That really jumped out that kind of cut to the heart of what the organization needs right now. No. I mean, I think that you know is George and I thought, you know the interview with any time you go through an interview on this 3.5 hour interview on the scene, and it goes very fast. You know you you have common thoughts, and I think that that's what that interview went through and I think that you know it hit on all cylinders, Not only with me, but with Joe as well as Vic. And so, you know, I think that you know, always felt that you know it was. It was the right guy and you know Not necessarily similar thoughts, but an idea of the way he did things his. You know his work ethic and the way that he goes about and how the young dig everything they possibly can on every single football player. I thought I thought was very good. So you know, he touched base is with all of us, and I think that's what was really good about it, in fact, is that No, we're able to get him to come and be our GM. Penalty will do what he paid market. Everybody. John. I'm a little bit unclear, and I'm stupid, but in your role you said you're still the president of football operations. If the general manager comes to you and said, so I want to trade freak first round draft choices. And two star players for I don't know a franchise type quarterback. Is he still going to be able to make that decision? Or does that come into your right as the president of football operations that you can tell they were just add your input. No, I'm at my input. Obviously, when it has a huge impact on something like you're talking about that, um, you know when you have something that is that big an impact on your organization and but ultimately it's gonna be George's decision. So I'm they're gonna be able to like I said, to support him, give my opinions give him all the everything that I would look at. When I was a jam and kind of give him everything that would be in my mind and look in that situation. And then be able to help him again. Help him, You know, make that decision the best decision you possibly can. And once he hears everything then, But he'll still be still be the one making that decision because that's his role, and that's his responsibility. So as I said, I'm here too. You know, support him in any way I possibly can and give him my viewpoints, But it's gonna be his decision. I will not give up. I think, you know. What do you mean the last two questions. It's kind of like dumb and dumber, but I'll give it a shot here. Since Peyton Manning you you've taken our swings a quarterback. Where do you think you are with your locket? And how do you value that? You want your quarterback situation right now. Well, you know, I'm still high on Drew. I think you got the physical abilities to do it. Um, I think that this year was essentially his rookie year. I think he was put behind the eight ball with everything that went on with covert with no off season, especially with the young. You know where the young offense a new offensive coordinator, So I think that you know, it was not by any means an ideal situation for Drew. But I think that you know, but anyway, you know, I'm gonna say that..

"To make it a different player other than Jerry Juice, and let's be honest, This isn't about Drew lock it is about who does Sean watching inquest right now. No quiet. Shawn Watson is a top five quarterback in this league, and you owe it to Broncos country. To explore everything that you can to make this football team what it needs to be. And if you look at this team, it's it's ready to win now. Yeah, they have a lot of youngsters on on offense, but Courtland sentence going into what his third season the offensive line, especially now with Garrett polls, he solidified that left tackle if Juwan James can come back. And be what they thought he was gonna be when they signed him in free agency. You have your right tackle. You obviously have Lindsay and Melvin Gordon. A good 12. Punch it running back. Noah Fant looks like he is going to be an outstanding tied in this team is ready to win on offense and on defense. Obviously, you have on you have Bradley Chub. You have two of the best safeties in the league and Justine Simons and Kareem Jackson. I think finally, once he that he was out there Uh, out at cornerback. You saw what Bryce Callahan congee if he's healthy. Man, this This team is ready to win right now. Plus, plus, you got Shelby Harris doing his thing inside? Yeah, I think if you got just just shown Watson he's the missing piece and you're ready to not only be in the playoffs, you're ready to challenge the chief of the F C West. Wow. We'll see. We'll see. "That includes three number ones, four number ones on the Broncos case. Sick includes three number ones, and Jerry Judy. So essentially four number ones or I'm just throwing names out there, Right, Plus drew lock. Well, the Texas may not like that, and then the other kind of trump card. Is that Shawn Watson has a no trade clause. So you can say no. I don't want to go to the Jets. No, I don't want to go to the Broncos. No, I don't want to go to the Bears. I don't know what he'll say and where he thinks the best fit will be for him. If this gets that far down the road But those two things matter because it's fun for everyone on social media say he has to go to the Bears. The Niners have to trade for. Well, that's great. But if the Niners say, Hey, we're gonna be two number ones. And the Broncos say we're gonna give you four number ones. Well, I'm sorry. Niners fans. Odds are the Texans will take the four number ones instead of the two number ones. You know, I'm just throwing out ideas I hear but you don't wanna get outbid for him is what is what I'm saying. You want to know that you made at least as big a package possible. And if you know that at the end of the day, just John Watson said I'd rather go to the Jets. I'd rather go to the Bears. I'd rather go to the Niners. You know our name. Another team. Then that's fine. You say he just didn't want to come to Denver and you have to figure out what your your plan B is at. That point of view is your plan A But I am moving heaven and Earth to get a guy. That's that good and that young Andre, no player on the roster and I'm being serious out of all 53 players are unavailable if they had to be part of the package because he is that good that he will replace. Even your Justine Simons, Bradley job, Courtland Sudden go down the list. If any of them were part of the trade, you start to make it PK. Thank you Appreciate the time. Great stuff. Thanks, Mike. "If this all goes away more less, for von, this far is from a criminal investigation. Perspective. Where should the Broncos sit with him? I think you evaluate where you think he is on the field. You know, I think there's there's a nostalgia premium that you pay to try to make him a Bronco for life. But I think you I think aside from that, I think you evaluate and having George Payton come in. His general manager gives you a non biased opinion because he's not a Bronco. You mean he is now but You know, he has been around. He's gonna He's gonna look at this from a business perspective. And so I think that you look and you say, OK, dollars to doughnuts. What are we getting on the field? What we get for our for our money on the field last year, von Miller head I can't remember the pressures he had. He had sex sex right this year. Malik Reed had eight sacks. I'm not saying the leak. Reed is better than von Miller. Okay? I don't want anybody to t misunderstand you. Be careful. Cooper's in the other room, and you know how he feels about sack numbers. It's everything you know, But the pressure numbers, everything is bomb was very disruptive. You know he wouldn't get home but the end of the day. You have to look at all those numbers. The pressure's knockdowns that hits you know the sacks all that and you got to say OK, What is that? My past disruption rate with this player. How often is he getting home? How often me and what's my cost per play? And at the end of the day, if if it's Penny's difference between Malik Read and von Miller, it might be time to let von Miller go somewhere else. Don't like that. I want mine to be a Bronco for life. You know that some sometimes some people move on how we got the markets where You know s so I so I think that you have to weigh that. You have to look at it honestly go from there. I think von Miller was better in his six sacks the season than people give him credit for. It's because it was six acts doesn't mean he wasn't productive season he WASI was getting triple teamed. But you know if, if you today you have to do there's a There's a cost benefit analysis that has to be done here. I've got Malick redesign on an undrafted contract at $18 million that it would free up from letting him go. I could eat the four million dead cap of Get 18 free. There's Justine Simons money right there. There's there's Justine Simons and part of Shelby Harris's money right there or there's Justine Simons and Phil Lindsay on a second round tender. You know, however you wanna look at it. However you want to chalk it up. However, you want to do it. That's that money right there, And so you have to weigh not just the cost benefit of von Miller versus Family Creed. But you also have to weigh it. Von Miller versus the money that money spent elsewhere who also want you to spend it on Now, everybody and their mother's gonna come at me with sideways with a quarterback, which you know we've been over that It's stupid, but we'll go over to get if you want. But you have to weigh that against On that defense. What you can keep on are you considering then at that point, either going into free agency or spending a premium draft pick on an edge. I think you look over the draft for an edge. You almost have to write, because if you feel like Malik Reid's already the Vette guy that he is matches, okay, serviceable in the game, But he's not really the guy that you want being put in a pickle. You can start those guys. But then that means hey, look, You know what leverage on Bradley child anyway, when he comes up for a contract, you need leverage on that. Hey, Bradley, You know, this is the number we're willing to spend if not Go to this rookie that we drafted so edge edge could almost be premium. Even any kind of regardless of what's going on with vinyl. Be that Russia the Broncos will take an edge Russian this year. Yes, they will. Um Now, whether or not that you know whether or not they they do that at nine, whatever, but they'll take one. They'll definitely take one, though they'll take a running back taken in Russia at some point this year. Just this doesn't a Zafar. Is your concerned, okay? What's going on with von right now. This won't if it does eventually go away sooner rather than later. Believe it well, and you believe it will. This won't play into in your opinion. The decision on whether that not they keep him. No. I mean, if it were third charges filed, and that's that. That would be different. I expect this to go away. Okay, Okay. I expected no charges to be filed. Okay, Well, then that's it again that you know, we don't do sensation. Sensational radio over here, right? Sensationalist stuff. I don't need to beg for listeners were lucky sweat. We don't have to beg. So we're not gonna spend the rest of show on this. Because this is where we're sitting with it now. I mean again. If you guys want any questions, it is up on the text line. 56690 be happy to answer the best we can Somebody tweeted that certainly were asking us kind of why we hadn't been doing a lot with us And like you said From the beginning, the disclaimer put out there before we even got into this topic. View. This is personal business. And when if charges are brought, that is difference. That is significantly different, but until that day, we're not trying to be evasive. I don't want to be. No, no, no, no, I'm not here carrying water or keeping for anybody any that kind of stuff. I just for me, That's personal. It's none of my business give you the information that I think is pertinent. We'll go from there. And that's what that's the pertinent information is. Is von Miller still going to be a Bronco? Probably. Um, you know, the question is about the team. The team option at this point, not that stuff because we expect the charges to go away. Hey,.

"Even if von Miller and Justine Simons Back and play well. If the quarterback play is subpar, or do you like this place like you played this year? It's not gonna be good enough. Even adding von Miller back to this mix and adding, Cortland said. I wouldn't think when you look at 10 win. Teams don't get into the playoffs like the Dolphins, right? So I think that the priority and maybe they're not looking at it because they don't have to in terms of timing, but What George Patton's plan is a quarterback, along with big fans. You and Pat Shurmur is going to matter. And I'm curious to see what George Payton impacts rumors relationship means and how much Pat As it relates to how much pats influence there How much influence that has on who the quarterback might be if they want to look outside the building for another viable starter, not just somebody to compete with Drew, but somebody that they would put ahead of her like, say, a max effort. I'm just throwing that name out there. So that's why you're still the number one priority in terms of Overall football success. If you want to rank like what's sitting on George Peyton's desk when he gets to get to work tomorrow, you're right. Well, especially with this news this afternoon, it probably is figuring out what is von Miller's future in Denver. And you got to think that by the way, if George Payton is gonna be starting tomorrow, you got to think that he's already got his short list of guys that he wants to talk to to be that right hand right hand man, And maybe he's even, you know, had those conversations before he took this job. Yeah, I think so. Especially because look, you just always assumed that it's going to be someone that you bring with you. Well, there's a chance that you've met someone along the way or you have interactions because you keep calling them to make a trade or ask them about somebody who's hitting the street or steal someone from their practice squad. Or, you know, an agent told you Hey, this guy's really up in coming. He could be. He could be your George Payton tow you to us, Rick Spielman and be with you for 115 or 20 years. "And then Matt Russell obviously in the mix as well. And so I think that you need to have somebody or or a few people like that around you if your AH player or legendary coach and you were jumping into the front office without having done the legwork of working your way through scouting. Well, BK. We appreciate it as a zoo. Always. I do have the initials game sitting here, So thank you. Sure so we don't get to talk about the quarterback. I'm not going back quickly. I'll ask you quickly when you when you heard when you heard that exit interview by Vic Fangio when he said That Jew lock can be the starting quarterback. What was your reaction? Well, I think he was one sending a message that drew saying this is certainly not your job, even if we don't trade for Sam Donald or Matt Stafford and don't draft a quarterback in the first or second round to come in and really, really compete with you. And the veteran that we sign is a nick Foles type or even a Ryan Fitzpatrick type. But nothing's given and also to your point or as you guys were trying to figure out. I thought we talked about a little bit earlier this week, but after doing a little more digging The new GM is going to have a saying. If you have a GM that comes in and says they hate drew lock, and they want to make a move now or they want real competition. Or they want to use the number nine pick on Trey Lancer or the Wilson Kid from BYU of their available or trade up to go get one of those Guys or even a Justin Fields. If you can get to where he is the then it will be the GM's call, just like the Justine Simons deal on the Von Miller deal, And all of that will be the GM's call. And Vic Fangio's future Beyond this year will be the GM scholars was obviously his assistance. So at the same time, there's a good chance that whoever they hire likes your lock enoughto want him to have a shot to compete because of how the organization has set it up. Order like to succeed with all the pieces they put around them the way the salary cap is structured, so I think that GM is empowered to make a move. I just wouldn't expect that any of these five people to this point will run your lock out of town before at least given him a new offseason with Pat Shurmur and all these young guys around him, all right, that's OK away. "Would suggest that the champ is probably like a said, gonna bring foals. Yeah, that would be your competition. And then if it doesn't work, you could walk away from both the end of the year. If Adam Peters were to come in That would probably be the worst case for lock. That would probably be depending on how Adam feels about this quarterback class. But that's really Adam Specialty. Where is with Peter with Kelly? It's really not Um with spy tech. Oh, I don't know. I honestly don't know the answer to that One eaters would probably the end of Lago. I would, I would. I would honestly suggest that Zach Wilson would probably be the preferred Just based on knowing what I know about Peter's. That would probably be the preferred guy. Okay, So Peter's Who's more of a college guy, their college scouting background? Of course, he'd be more interested potentially to reset their with a young quarterback. That would be his guy, right? Where is your talking about? Maura of a pro scouts there in Kelly. He might opt to run it back for a year and see how things go and get a get a little bit of a lay of the land more so than to do that, too, because he's got the relationship falls is there with the Bears right now is all that kind of stuff. Pulls has a previous relationship with Pat Shurmur dating back their time. Philadelphia s O Fools just makes the most sense out of all that for for that scenario, Okay. Next question here. Speaking of Justine Simons is we were talking about him. What are the chances? He re signs with this new GM. What about von Miller? What about Shelby Harris? So kind of asking about all three guys. Humans in the are a phase earlier, and that's obviously one of the big decisions they have to make right off the bat with Phillip Lindsay and Alexander Johnson and Tim Patrick. But yes, Justine Simons. That's probably the number one thing that has to be decided. Shelby Harris is in the mix there. And then yeah, von Miller some pretty massive decisions, and it comes back to something we were discussing before right. It's beginning to show just like there's Ah lot of people worried right off the bat on. Oh, my gosh, This new GM is gonna come in a completely different philosophy with the draft and sort of so forth. It's like Hey, listen. They've got some major decisions to make about their own roster before they even get there. Yeah, On gets the thing like you. You do need to go and check if like we talked about the R face, right, you gotta make who How And who are you gonna tender there? Because Who can you afford to lose? Who can you afford to keep it? Those prices? You know, who are you willing to let test the market and they go if they need to. Tim Patrick, unfortunately, probably falls in that original round tender. Category. Just based on the death that wide receivers chap, eh? So you probably tender Lindsay and Alexander Johnson a second round tenders. On. Then you start to look around at the other options that you got here. You know you do You need to figure out Shelby Harris. You're gonna be okay. Justine Simons. He's gonna get paid by somebody is gonna be here. I mean, it's homegrown. So there's a lot of pieces and a lot of parts that you need to look at before you even get to the draft function of this. And to be honest with you. A new general manager coming in probably isn't going to clean house on scouts and and down roster guys until after the draft because you've already started the momentum on this and this is a covert. You're on top of this, so you're probably going to trust in what you've already seen from internally from your guys over there. Let's say, Let's say it's Chambliss just hypothetically. Your guys in Chicago? You're gonna marry that up with the data that you know. From here in Denver and go from there, then you clean house after the draft. That's when the season starts for front office guys after draft and certainly you also have to believe the vic Fangio's voice in this matters Absolutely often times it isn't necessarily up to the head coach. But in this case, you're giving some power to the head coach to help select The next GM of this team, So I have to imagine that Vic Fangio was a guy pounding the table to keep justice. Seven. Justine Simons to stay in. Yeah, and and he will be well say he will be. Vic Fangio will be back pounding the table at the Justin definitely staying. I think as the new general manager, you have to come in and way. How you going to do this? Do you tag Justine Simmons again? Knowing that he may not play on it. He was really just it was willing and vocal about playing on the tag the first time, right? But second time might not necessarily be that case and officially maybe burned some bridges. That would suggest that if they tag him and don't reach a deal that just will never come back to Denver. I would suggest that that would be The way you need to think about this. Yeah, and the tag is Listen, Players have different feelings on the tag. Some players like a good pay me the gig because it was like watching. Yeah, I'll take two of those Thank you. And everybody else is like I hate this. You know, whatever, but you stand to make more money on it. If you get tagged twice and then get the big deal afterwards. You stand to make more money, but it could be stressful. I mean, you think about this, we're thinking about it in different terms. You're talking about a guy who's gonna feed his family for life. This is not the money that he's gonna make over the next six years. The term limit for these Opportunities for these players is not very long as we know. So, yeah, Another couple questions coming in about Justine Simons because it did seem a the end of his press conference today with the media is about 17 minutes long, and he got there A T and sort of thanking the media and, you know, seemingly as though he was headed out the door. I wouldn't read too much into that. Honestly read too much into that yet that I've been there for those conversations. I've been in the locker room with those conversations when they're thinking the media. Sometimes it does end up where they do leave, like, Remember when Chris Harris was thanks The media. We all knew we knew what was going on. So that was that was a genuine like that. This one is genuine, for sure, but understanding that there's still There's still things in motion that you know, Justin. They want him back like they really do want him back.
