I know something you talked about Big Island the spring you wouldn't mind seeing and and the tiny Muti. The biggest issue with him has always been His health right? The reason he was 1/5 rounders because he played 14 games at Fresno State instead of four years worth of three years' worth of games. And and so I don't know if we'll see Graham, Glasgow and Broncos uniform in a year, and I know they like when miners they took him in the third round and Dalton Prisoners job isn't set in stone forever. He's not on a deal like carrot balls. So I think they'll continuously competition on the interior that a line but it's definitely Lloyd Cushion. Very center job and even early in camp. This might be the first day of practice. Somebody asked the Fangio about when miners pushing Lloyd Cushion Berry in that competition, he goes well. Miners has to get into the competition first. And I don't know if he's ever done that, although he has shown his versatility, playing center and guard throughout the preseason, So BK when you are watching practice today, you know, we normally get an update on how each of the quarterbacks have done against the ones. And today would you have tipped a hat to either one of the quarterbacks? Or was it pretty? Even Steven? There? It seemed pretty even Steven. Now we did see a Kyle fuller interception of Teddy Bridgewater late on kind of a corner route, and somebody commented, Hey, that's the first play Kyle Fuller's made ultra training camp, and I had to kind of throw back through both my mental notes and and think about some of the notes I had written down and I hadn't really written called Cow Fuller's name down. That was the guy that was an all pro in this Vic Fangio defense and Going on a 10 year vet and they're paying $2 million for one year not worried about Kyle Fuller at all, but he didn't make that pic of Bridgewater and we saw some good throws. There were fans out here. It was close to the fans, but there were invited sponsors in their guests, Broncos sponsors and Broncos partners that we're out here, so there was a pretty good crowd. And there was some cheering for both quarterbacks, but I don't think you can tip to The one where the other today and so I guess that's what we're going to see the rest of the because, like if it made a decision, Teddy Bridgewater would have gotten all the first team reps and they probably working against some of the giant stuff, and they just weren't there still in a true 50 50 competition, and I think that's really good for both quarterbacks, but certainly good for you Lot. Well, the competition carries on for another day. I think it's probably going to carry on throughout the weekend, and after the game on Saturday, they'll probably announced B K. This is one of the weirdest longest quarterback battles that we've seen. But I do believe as big Fangio has been saying it's been a great quarterback battle, and it's good to see Two guys playing well, You don't anticipate a trade of the loser, do you? Not unless the team knocks your socks off right and somebody joke to practice. I'm not going to say who it was. But they said when Joe Burrow goes on IR for the rest of the year because his knee isn't responding to the Bangles off for the second rounder that the Broncos made the trade and take drew lock back because the Bengals like where their team was headed. And so I don't anticipate that mainly because of what Teddy Bridgewater said last week that you usually need more than one quarterback, Maybe not in all cases, but even Patrick Mahomes. We've seen go down twice the last two years, right? He hurt his knee here and chat. Any had to play and he got hurt in that game against the Browns in the playoffs, and Chad Henny had to play. You will make more money off the franchise tag because you're still going to get the big money deal the next year or the year after. I mean, I think I remember he was six years ago. Control. They got everything they wanted out of exactly right. But on the other side, he had to wait for Patrick Holmes deal to come in. Yes, way for John Watson and better And that's you saying the market on Lee goes up You is an NFL team. You are one of two entities. You are the people that set the market or you are the people that are reacting to it. That's it. There is no in between, and so you can either get out in front of it and pay a guy and it's gonna be a cheap deal in two years. It's gonna be expensive. Looking at the front end. You're gonna get a little laughter when you sign it. And then two years and then your best bet go well, you got a quarterback, that's 80% of the market. Or you're gonna be. You know the team that it's reacting to the market and get going over pay for stuff. That's what happens. You know, the faster you get the deal done, the better off. Um, based on what I know about both sides of the situation and and again, it kind of comes back to the whole procedural word that was used. That was the word that the Broncos used. You've been listening the program, we said From a procedural standpoint, the Broncos will likely use that franchise tag for the second time on Justine Simmons is not the intense and not give him a long term deal. People are misunderstanding this situation, and I even had questions today about okay. Well, if they would've pushed back the franchise tag, maybe the Broncos could've gotten something done. Or maybe the Broncos should have tried to do something like the Cowboys were. This whole deal came together in like 24 hours. That tag is gonna cost the broncos thirteen point seven million dollars this year making just in the sixth highest paid safety but brady. This is just a placeholder. right now. the broncos more so than last year are very motivated to get a long term deal done and so they hope that justin does not play on the franchise tack this year and that he gets a term deal before that july fifteenth deadline. Okay so you're you're getting that sense to the both sides are good with each other. This is just a way to make sure. Hey we're you're not going anywhere. We'll get something done but this isn't like it doesn't feel quite like last year right where it's franchise tag depends on how they get it but a lot of times players really hate that but in your in your mind from what you're hearing both sides good with each other. This is just a means to an end. We're gonna get justin locked up with something. Yep exactly a hundred percent. George payton when it came to drew lock When it came to drew lock I got a very similar feeling from him about what i thought. The broncos thought about drew. Lock him what i thought. The broncos thought about drew lock and everything that i heard was well. They were looking at other. Quarterbacks brady they had They had interest significant interest in matthew stafford. And that right. There raises a big red flag. About what they felt about drew. And that's the feeling i got yesterday. Brady as you know. We heard the same things about. He's very talented He has all the tools that those are some things that That george paid said about him yesterday. That he's confident In drew but they're going to bring in competition shawn watson is on the table. When asked about the sean specifically yesterday payton said well. I can't comment on that. Because he's under contract with another team but then right after that he followed up with. We're going to be aggressive and we're going to be in on every deal. He said that brady huge smile on his face. One that he couldn't hold backs to me tells me they are absolutely going to be interested in shawn watson as they should as most teams in the nfl should be. And then when asked about drafting a quarterback the first round he said yeah it every every Position is on the table in the first round so not ruling that out either. It's clear to me that they will be looking for a significant upgrade at quarterback this offseason now whether they can pull that off or not Will depend on if drew lock as a starting quarterback but to me it does not seem like they have full confidence in grew while even listening to vic fangio's comments i feel like he's certain to become a head coach more far as both sides. He's like yeah. We can get better but you know where we were always gonna look elsewhere to. I felt like justice simmons they. They've played that thing pretty well as far as the pr side goes. Yeah you're you're one hundred percent right. Brady they want everyone back but seemingly without even saying at the right price you're one hundred percent right And they really get their cap. They one afraid to say it about justin. Just how he was going to be back no matter what and now we know that for sure today but everyone else. Yeah we want von back yeah. Shelby harris is a priority and free eight. We're going to tender phillip lindsay. Tim patrick alexander johnson. Okay well what. What tenders are you going to put on those three guys. Oh we'll not sure yet. Okay well that depends on the that shows you. They're going to have them back or not. So of course they want all of these guys back. But it's pretty clear to me that it's not going to be. Yeah we want von back With any question. We're picking up the option. We want shelby back. We're going to make him a high pay defensive lineman so there's still a lot of work to be done and after franchise tacking justin simmons brady. The broncos have roughly thirty million dollars in cap space. All of these guys that that they said they wanted to keep. But then you're going to have no money on the open market to bring in any free agent. So that's why i expect some other deals to happen whether it's extensions in pay cuts for some of the guys that they wanna bring back or whether it's just flat out saying goodbye to some of these guys and now one guy that's really highlighted for for me in the next week is kareem jackson. The broncos have that contract options to either pick up or decline with korean. And you're paying. Justin simmons a lot of money this year. And you're probably going to be paying him a lot of money in the future. I think that they're going to try to work. Something out with kareem whether it's a pay cut which. I don't find very possible because of just how welcome as plate or whether it's more of restructure in an extension. They have one week to make that decision.

No, this is no last year s so after three years A zoo, fourth round pick. Right. He was in the 2017 2016 draft. Last year's French I A politician last year was his first year because he impacted where the same draft we know that Jerry tried to trade up to get Paxton Lynch. So yeah. Last year made 31 million this year. He's gonna make between 35 or 40 if they franchise him again. So how does this work? How does this work does is Dallas this Dallas love this guy and can can Team like Denver trade with Dallas. Well, I think they're gonna franchise him first of all and Benjamin Albright. Who is pretty plugged into the Cowboys to through his Arkansas ties there, Uh, said that he thinks they're gonna franchise when I saw that on Twitter either there yesterday, so they're gonna Franchising which means that in control where he can go right Um, and if they were to move him, it would probably be under the guise of that team working out unacceptable deal with his agent Todd, France, who, by the way, is also Justine Simmons, agent among others. S O. The Broncos certainly have had talks, and that's who. The Broncos chief negotiator. Richard Tato was the right hand man for Todd for all those years before he came and joined the Broncos last offseason this time, actually, so so one of the things that I've been concerned with in this deal Is that that Prescott can just say OK, I'm going to sign your one year deal again. With some of the progressions and some of the things that drew needed to do in that offense. I'm gonna I'm gonna trust somebody like that, saying the play calling was too complex for it to have been truly dumb down. Scaled back and dumb down are two different things right. Scaled back is Hey, we just don't know if we can get to all of this, and we don't know if you're If you'll be able to recall all of it quickly because we haven't drilled it enough to run it enough, But the sense I get, I talk to somebody in organization David so that that report was completely off base. But I don't think they truly dumbed it down. I think they may have just not been able to put exactly everything into to the playbook that or installed it into the offense that Pat Shurmur has sitting there and his very thick binder. They installed the Tom Brady hurry up offense when they were in Fox Borough to be one call plays and they ran those plays and ran teams out of that stadium. First and foremost, I am seen anything Come out of U. C Health center, so I don't think the Broncos necessarily or making anything public. George Payton has been. He was on this show when he first got hired, but And again. We talked about this. I talked to two people in the league. That have dealt with Peyton over a long period of time. Both of these guys I talked to are in management, and both of them said good things about George Payton grinder hard worker. But they said, Hey, he's not gonna you know, don't expect him to come on and be Overly gregarious or overly talkative. That's just not he'll answer. Your questions will be respectful, and that's fine with me. You got a football guy in there. So what if he didn't like to do too many media things? That's okay. But they haven't said anything publicly. So I mean, if I'm drew lock, all I can do is control what I can control. I come back in great shape, stronger, bigger, ready to assume that I'm gonna be the number one quarterback and that's the mindset he has to have. Everything else is out of his control. One thing about George Payton to when he was at Minnesota. Not only did he kick the tires, he bought the tires. Kirk Cousins, which was a big, big, big deal. Blockbuster with Kirk Cousins hasn't really worked out that great. The Vikings, but he was there in a part of that transaction, so It makes you think you know he's open to making those kind of deals. While he's here with the Denver Broncos. As the general manager in there, so many of these quarterbacks that look like they could be available. Uh, it kind of gets you a little excited. The only difference with the cousins deal and cousins statistically. Um, I had a good year this year. Vikings. Not really. But the only thing the difference between that deals some of these deals there were draft choices involved, right cousins was able to basically because he played out to franchise tags sit back and say Okay, Now I'm literally a free agent who's going to come up with the best deal and as it turned out, It was the Vikings. That was what was the three years and 84 Million? Yeah, and every single penny guaranteed, which which, at that point was almost unheard of in the NFL. And Kirk cousins. It's not like Kirk Cousins was considered. The premier quarterback in the NFL when they paid that kind of money, So it was a bit of a risk that they took. Kirk Cousins has put up good numbers. They just haven't been able to win with him right, like they wanted to. On a totally agree about Drew lock. You know, you just keep your head down. You work hard. Try to ignore all of this, which is really tough to do, especially for a young guy. Really tough to do When you're hearing your teammates. Talking about the Shawn Watson. When you're hearing these rumors, Russell Wilson could be available. Matthew Stafford, you know a couple weeks ago. It's pretty hard to ignore all of that. But you just keep your head down. You keep working hard and get better. And we'll see what happens. Will he be the starting quarterback in 2021? I think chances from me. I think chances are pretty good that that will be the case. But when you start seeing some of these things in the Broncos in the mix On these odds for these big names had I mean, it gives you not only interesting thing to talk about, but maybe get you a little excited, too. You know, I look a pro football focus a lot, but I do think your bowls at a much better year obviously signed a sign an extension and I say good for him and his family and I think good for the Broncos based on his play this year. But 19 19th best player in the NFL. Uh, you know what they might underpaid for him. If that's the case, you know, he signed the deal before the season was over. If he wouldn't maybe what a weight until the end of the season, maybe he would have got more money. You know the way it turned out for him and for Broncos made the pro football focus Top 100. I did notice that they ranked Kareem Jackson ahead of Justine Simmons, who's also looking to get paid. I found that interesting as well. I just don't know how how they can pay both. But in the midst of that, you know asked about Hey, are you coming back to this team, or you wanted to take a pay cut? And what are you doing like? I mean, like I get it. But that doesn't matter In the end the Broncos are you going to work in one of the captain or not? Yeah. And in this case, so So, the question about Will von take a pay cut? I mean, we don't even know necessarily effects. The Broncos intention. We don't know if George Payton came into this situation, saying I'm not paying Miller that amount of money because I don't think at 31 years of age, he could give us the same kind of production that a quarterback basically can give. And I need to allocate that money elsewhere, right? Um von Miller, first one wouldn't be taking a pay cut. What you would do is you would give him an extension and you would guarantee See the money that's in that. That's already do with the team option inside of that extension, so he never loses a dollar, so it's never really technically a pay cut. In that regard. Now the salary number might be lower. But he's only got one year at 21 Million. At this point on, I usually work guaranteed it would be guaranteed on the team option, right? It's not guaranteed right now. So the team could say, Well, we're just not gonna pick up your option. You get out there the market. You're not gonna get that 21 million. You might get a long term deal in a new system that you gotta relearn. Or we can offer you that 21 million back and guarantees over the next four years, three years. Plus a little bit extra money. If you move that number down if you're willing to move that number down Into the 14 $15 million range. And this was so tough like I said that the ast al jik part of it. I mean, he is exactly what George Payton said He wants to keep homegrown like I'm right, and that's something Minnesota has prided themselves on. And so so in that case, I'd say he's absolutely coming back. But where the contract currently is that where his performance because it wasn't able to play list last year. That's a tough spot, and I definitely know that it will be if the Broncos move on. The fans will have a really hard time with it. At the same time. There are some tough decisions you have to make. Now. It's also about what you replace that with. So if you decide that you're not going to keep von Miller what is the answer, And that's where we were talking about edge rushers in the last segment. Okay, Well, if you're gonna move on fair for von Miller and you damn well know, you have to do better than what your production was last year. You were not getting enough pressure. Bradley Trump had a good year like he had a good year for a pressure standpoint, but you need more production on the opposite side. Really. I think you're really excited about him, right? But you expect some of these pics. To be too need to develop just because they didn't all of a sudden bust out like Justin Jefferson. I think a lot of the teams at the top it got a ton out of the rookie classes. You look at the Washington ball team, the box Tristen Worse. And from Winfield, the Colts on Ben, Of course, the Bangles with choe Burrow. They had guys that were put in prime position and, yeah, they delivered in their rookie year. But that doesn't mean that the guys at the back can't deliver in their 2nd and 3rd year. That's why you're drafting them in the first place. You know if you're auditioning for one, Wait nine. The hater. I don't think the reason too nuanced. Take like that is gonna is gonna work. Let me ask you Look, let me ask you a legitimate question here, though, When? When do you think it is appropriate to judge Class A draft class. That's a great that's a great point. I think once you get to once you have three years in there, um I think it's appropriate to start looking at that draft class relative to the rest, But I really don't think you wanna overreact. Certainly to the first year, I think you're too you know, depending on the consistency of the team around them. You can start to look at things, but I would really want to see Three years. Hopefully, by that point, you had some sort of continuity within the team. I mean most of the team's drafting, high or bad, right, So it's tough to get a keen scent on the smaller sample your three fine, but ultimately you want to look at that fool wait for that rookie contract for five years. I was looking back at the Broncos draft class of 2017 and yes, carry balls turned out great. There was a shaky there for a little bit, but it turned out great after him. Marcus Walker, who did play out his contract but will not be back Carlos Anderson, not in the league. Brennan Langley, not in the league, Jake, but this he's gonna be gone and it's unfortunate but injuries. Isaiah Mackenzie actually has been pretty good out there in Buffalo Butts, a miss for the Broncos because they moved on so fast. The Angela Anderson and Chad swag Kelly That is the 2017 draft class. So we're kind of right in that window. That's four years, but my goodness, I think after two we all felt pretty good about knowing with that draft class. Will you still call him swagger? Which is the draft is is a lottery. You know, in so many ways, if you think you know you don't know. In fact, like you pointed out, most of them were lauding Vic Fangio. When I was out there when we're out there in mobile. Most were lauding him like Do you realize how good that defense performed? There were the number one defense of the red Zone without And Miller starter. Yes, without without all of these studs, and by the end of the year of the fact that he had that team competing, and they and most of them pointed out that Chiefs came as a stroke of genius. Many of them came back. That might be the blueprint for pat balls. You know, that might be it. You kind of took with the Raiders. Did you turned it into something? That's that's viable. And now let's see if anybody could actually execute. It was right. After that. The Dolphins came out tried to attack and I got the doors blown off. So what? Back to the point the question here. That Is kind of being floated about is if he if you have to move some of these defensive players in order to make a run at some of these quarterbacks, or do something along those lines, don't you at least for a moment? Say, Well, Vic Fangio could do a lot with very little on that side of the ball because he's one of the elite minds of the defense. While I sort of agree with that. The problem is, you're already staring a reload in the face. And now you're gonna give up the act. You're gonna give the players that you have in place. And the assets that you would have to replace them and that that's where I have the problem. Because the only way you're gonna be able to solve that that is to overspend in free agency where you can't do that. You just brought on a quarterback for the huge contract. So unless you're getting rid of big money contracts E. It's just not where you're going. You're gonna move on, probably from drill Casey and AJ Buddha. I'm here to talk about money in there. That's true. That's good point. That's going to be on your cap. We're gonna be gone, But that's I mean, again. You're talking about. Don't count your cap right now, right? That That's the things you know It's 00 sum. Nothing you'd have to move on from big money You have to move on from von Miller. You know on it precludes resigning. Justine Simmons. The Broncos have been without a naming rights deal for a few years. Now they couldn't get fans in the stands. This year, there's a covert You know? So you're a team that doesn't have as much cash on head guaranteed money has to be put in escrow. Two weeks after the deal aside, all of the guaranteed money has to be put into escrow. All of it. So you know if you're signing do you gotta have 40 $50 million liquid to be able to put, you know for justice seems to be able to put it into escrow. They're gonna want to do that. If you're already doing one of those deals if you're bringing in a Pretty big contract like ST John Watson's The Guaranteed Money's got to be in escrow so that that's the problem is just, you know, it's easier for some teams to depends on which the cap than it is for other Stan Kronke. "BK. Um, the reason I'm saying this is because all of these things Affect the Broncos. Well, here's the thing, too, with the Patriots because I just pulled up the salary cap space. We don't know exactly what the total caps gonna be. And we think it's going to between 1 75 and 18. Least Most people do at one player. Tell me that his agent told him it was gonna be 200 million. I was like you need to Check with your agent again because it's not going to be 200 million this year may next year cause the new TV deals, but they're trying to recoup some of their losses, so they're not gonna You know, blow up. The capped a huge number when they don't have to. There's gonna be some hard decisions made in a lot of places like Atlanta and New Orleans owns 85 million over the cap going into the year, even with Drew Brees retiring, But the Patriots is funny. You bring them up out there. $54 million taken spent their fourth right now in terms of Room, the Colts, especially Philip Rivers, walking away and taking this 25 million and it was, I believe a one year deal of the way. It was set up the culture second with a whole lot of talent on that roster, and they're gonna have to start paying people like Butler the linebacker, but they're 68 million Other cap. As of now on the Jags, we know have the most cap space and the number one pick. But I do think the Patriots will look to upgrade their quarterback situation. And maybe Dak Prescott is somebody that makes sense if he actually hits the market. Maybe that's the guy that Bill Belichick decides he likes. If Josh McDaniels ends up taking that job in Philly, I'm sure we'll find somebody but Well, this is gonna be an interesting what not to do on Houston. But you get fresh eyes and hear with, I think a pretty talented roster and some parts. So now a sudden, if you're one of these other 28 teams, I think that you have to be excited. If you're the Broncos in that group, about what this offseason is gonna look like special cause you're getting guys back healthy. You heard him say that Justine Simons. That's what Let's say That's what it will cost to bring those guys back. If you bring in if you're going to save room for a friend for a veteran quarterback that has signed a second contract. Lucrative one like Dat Garoppolo, Matt Ryan. Went Matthew Stafford again, who you want is a relevant to this discussion. If you want a franchise one of these franchise quarterbacks or veteran quarterbacks issue and save franchise, because why're the other team's laying them go, But These veteran quarterbacks. You want to bring him one of these veteran quarterback? Right now that takes all of your cap space. So you can't sign Simmons. You can't sign Miller. You can't sign here. She can't Stein Lindsay. You can sign none of them. Okay, So now you're gonna have to create some room if you're George Payton. So Now you have to look at guys who were on the team that are making a significant amount of money that you could cut. Okay, so I'll probably this out. The way I see it, and then you guys can respond the way that you would do it. So I say, Matthew Stafford, that would be at the top of my list. If I'm George Payton. Okay, so Matthew Stafford takes up all my cap space. I want to bring back Justine Simons. And I at the moment, want to bring back von Miller? Hey, what for now? Say that the investigation going on with Parker Police doesn't lead to any charges or anything like that. Let's say it is what it is now. Little bit of a distraction. Not a great look. But it doesn't rise to the level of any criminality. Because if it does, then it may be an easy decision for the Broncos toe, let to sever ties. With von Miller. I think we can all agree. Justine Simons. Is the guy number one guy you bring back Other guys we made debate, but I think we're all on the same page that in in an ideal world, Justine Simmons will be back put the Denver Broncos Okay, so I'll say Justine Simons and von Miller. Don't. I would like Jobe Harris back, but I don't know that I can make the money work. And here's why So if I just bring back Simmons and Miller And set aside the money for one of these veteran quarterbacks. That is $16 million over the cap. That George paint would be Have Karine Jackson, who makes 10 Who would know who you would save 10 Million. If you cut Kareem Jackson. You would save 12 Million if you cut, General Casey. You save 11 Million if you cut a J boy, and you would save seven million if you come, Bryce Callahan. Looked into Juwan James, because that was a guy like Whoa. Just cut you want James. His dead cap number is actually higher than his actual cap number, so he not being cut. Hey. And we're not talking about trading were just talking about how now cutting you gotta eat whatever salary you gotta eat. But I look, I did the research, Jack cutting Kareem Jackson. Safety 10 cutting General Casey saved you, 12 cutting a J boy saves you 11 and cutting Bryce Callahan saves you seven. So what I'm gonna do is I'm going to set aside the money for Matthew Stafford. I'm going to bring back Justine Simons and von Miller. A first. That's first bring them back. Those are my two top priorities. I bring them back. That makes 26 million that I have to account for so I cut Kareem Jackson. Cut Kareem Jackson. I cut General Casey and I cut Bryce Callahan. I keep a J boy. That gives me about $3 million to spare. Then maybe I can look in other directions to try and free up some money to try and keep Shelby Herring. But the point of all of this is to say that if George Payton wants to go get a veteran quarterback there are going to be some guys that are gonna have to be cut. Because the Broncos won't have enough money to sign Justine Simons to keep von Miller to keep Shelby heirs to keep Phillip Lindsay to keep General Casey and cream Jackson They can't keep the band together if they want to bring in a veteran quarterback. So to make it easy, I says, side the money for Stafford. I bring back Simmons and von I cut cream Jackson, General Casey and Bryce Callahan and keep a J boy. Definitely sales roller coaster. You know, Jackson, looking back talking with you guys kind of Washington film. Definitely like see the growth over the season doesn't see a lot of things I can improve on some exciting ones next year. You know, issues. You look back over the course of this season that the team kind of didn't hit the wind marks that they wanted to hit. But did you did you hit any personal goals that you wanted to hit throughout the first season? Um, not really, actually, because I actually want to leave the year with a pick and I didn't happen, But I'd say, you know, over the last couple games, I got a little more consistent. Made some plays on the ball this season. So I'm really proud of myself for that. But if you wanna be more hungry and hunt for the ball more next year, But you guys did finish the season as a defense strong in turnovers. You had four turnovers. I got to imagine as a guy that you know, sees himself is an integral part of that defense. That means something right. That's right there that he did, and Uh huh. I think that it was, uh, I think in the last game, you know, making those two players involved important. I definitely wish we didn't like. Let that one slip your hand. But Any way I could make put my finger Prana game. There's a good news for me. Yeah. You know, you talked about not getting picked, but I think he had to do you have two of them that were called back to the penalties or whatever and mitigating circumstances elsewhere. That was those Tennessee and Pittsburgh If I'm not mistaken. Maybe the Jets. Yeah, No, I was actually one calls back 1 ft. Off my face Pittsburgh game and fast, I think And then I think another one got my hands Jets, so the other doesn't have missed opportunities out there. Don't you feel as though being in the position to make those plays on I know that you won't say this, So I'm going to say it for you because you're a professional football player. But being in position to make those plays is a good start. And it's something that you may be compelled off of, and and as this team looks to continue to grow, that is something that I least hope that you'll look back on and say why I did put myself in position. I just gotta come down with that next time. Right. It definitely is a good good start. And you know, as you can see, after the Pittsburgh name, like my opportunities were kind of limited on getting those things. That's all I'm saying. Like next year. The options are limited. You gotta make the most of it, and I'm definitely gonna be way more hungry when the ball's in the air next couple years. It was the toughest aspect of transition to the NFL. And who was the toughest receiver you had to cover this year. Um, definitely, um I would say I speed of the game, probably because I mean football still football, but At the next level. "But right now, I think this will get the benefit of the doubt because the team would be trending in the right direction. It specially If the defense looks good. What about Pat Shurmur about this? Are we? What does Let's say, let's say there's a quarterback competition and let's say Drew wins it. What does he have to do to cement himself as the franchise quarterback in the coming season versus the Broncos going to the draft or bringing the big name free agent? Yeah, He needs to take a big step up and we need to see something along the lines of what he did at the end of 2019 and what he did at the end of this year, Of course in 2019. He finished the season 64% completion percentage in his five games. He played his rookie season seven touchdown, three interceptions this year. The first four games of the or the final Four games of the season. Seven touchdowns, two interceptions for Drew. You need to do that, for for a consistent season 16 games long and then we're talking about, you know about 28 touchdown to about 10 interceptions if he could do that, and he's absolutely the guy, but if he's flirting around where he is now, guys, it's pretty obvious that the team would have to move on. Because this year there is no question that drew lock was not Good enough. You know, I've been very encouraged by Drew throughout his brand, but one of his supporters as well, Just like just like you guys happen, But no one can argue that Drew lock was good enough This year. It's about if you believe he can take that next step next year, So if he's anywhere close to where he was this year Then it's really obvious he's had all the time to develop, and he's just not that type of quarterback in the NFL. He's not a starter. But if you could take that next step in that next step is what we've seen flashes of in those four games. No, I think that's really well, said Zach Stevens with us last one here for you. Do you like the way the Broncos went about this process? And I mean we could take just sort of? You know an overview Now that it's it's through that we stopped, of course, figure out who the director of director of player personnel is gonna be. But The way they did it with with Vic Fangio in tow. You had the head coach in tow, helping out to that process. Yeah, the former GM, which is a little bit unique. That doesn't happen all the time you had on Lee up incoming guys. He didn't really interview any of the experience longstanding re treads at GM. So what did you think about the overall process and how they got to the decision of George Payton? You know what I really like The process that they had. My only one critique would be that they just could have interviewed more people, especially because you're not jumping on planes traveling out the cities to meet all of you guys. You're doing everything at least on first interviews via Zoom, so I would have liked to see that expand a little bit. Maybe talk to some of the more experienced guys that have that experience of being a general manager like you're talking about. But outside of that I really liked it. They got a good scope. They got the champ Kelly's of the world, the true up and comers. They got the really experienced guy with George Payton. And ultimately, I think this led to the right guy because not on Lee was he one of the hottest names this year with George Payton is one of the hottest GM candidates of the past few years, and he has been the picky one, not teams. He's been the picky one. And the Broncos were able to land and so really, I think this is a home run higher that provides stability and and like you said John Elway may not be with this organization in one year, Joe Well, it's very well likely won't be with this organization and one year from now, And who knows? Vic Fangio may not be with this team and one year from now, so they needed stability and George Payton and the guy Oh, I think he can last through a new owner coming in here Just because of how well regarded he is around this league, and that stability is something that this team desperately needs. Yeah, I totally agree real quick. You know, during his comments, you know, today I thought that it was interesting remark when he said we're gonna try and get drafted develop. That's gonna be our philosophy for building this roster. We're not going to be reckless in trying to build this roster basically tipping off that all that nonsense about the Shawn Watson and Matt Stafford was was absolute garbage. They're not gonna throw away. Picks trying to trying to do stuff like that. We finally retire. Those the those narratives. Unless people want to believe he's gonna fall of what he did with Sam Bradford and the Viking Sam Bradford like trading of first, but no, I mean, I I agree with you the easy fix and free agency. He made that very clear that that's not going to happen, especially this year on that quote right there with big news for Justine Simmons and his camp because just a week ago It really seemed like Justin was saying goodbye to the Denver media and the Denver community and thanking them for everything they've done. And the reason why is they kind of have a three year to play with? Right? You have to have big Fangio and his staff is your coach. You still have John Elway. Lurking above you. And you're in the shadow of John Elway and his team for a year. Even though you have carte blanche, so to speak, if you wanna move on from Drew, lock or not. Figure out a new deal it to bring Von Miller back or whatever looks like you just pick up his option or signed Justine Simons to make him the highest paid safety in football. You developed him. He is a budding star, one of the best safeties in the league. If not already, like like if you're not already on this path. He's there right now. I mean, it's perfection. The message to the fan base. We'll get to that. But the message to the rest of locker room you have to bring Justine Simmons back. You have to. You have to find because because that's what those guys see. Those guys see a guy that was it was everything this organization at absolutely asked for. And if you don't sign those guys It's this problem to the rest of the locker room. They they see that they're like, man. If that guy can't get re signed What the heck are we doing? Yeah, And that's not unenviable task, bringing in a new general manager to handle that the last year imagine didn't get it done. Last general manager John Elway. You there were gripes about his contract negotiations that he was too. Let's call it frugal, but we all know what we're talking about here. And you know, that was something that was noted not just by players and agents. But there was known around the league.
