"Went to, uh, we went to traffic, Alfred was leaning in on the running back situation. Yeah, and so melon Gordon. I caught him in passing after practice and ask him if he was playing Saturday, and he said he was and then he goes. Yeah, everybody's playing. And so I think everybody that's healthy. That's a veteran. We'll see and unify haven't played much in the preseason like a Shelby Harris, perhaps you'll see them just play a little bit more. And look, I do a podcast with Shelby every week and even before the Minnesota game, where he wasn't sure how much he was playing. He did, say employee number 96 reporting for duty. He was ready to play against Minnesota. Just like I think any healthy veteran is and healthy player. Uh, so you know, and Kareem Jackson hasn't played as much, So I imagine we will see all those guys in Justine Simmons. At least for a quarter and maybe into the second quarter because like I touched on before the break that's obviously The way Victor Andrew has approached the the third game the last couple years with that kind of old school third game is your dress rehearsal, and I think that's what we'll see. Saturday night against the Rams. Wow, I wonder if The Rams will throw out there. Aaron Donald. They won't They won't Sean McVeigh's already said just to give them that look. Quarterbacks. What do you think now? No Look. Shawn's already said he's not playing Aaron Donald. He's not playing. Matt Stafford. He's not playing, uh, one y drawing a blank on the corner. All of a sudden, uh, Jalen Ramsey, Right. You probably won't see Cooper Cup and Robert was Andrew Whitworth, who was? I think it was a rookie with you, Alan Cincinnati together. Y'all came in together and You know, 91 or whatever. No Andrew Whitworth. You just won't see those guys. And that's how Sean McVeigh's approached it since he became the head coach that, for the most part, his starters, his his Bona fide high dollar starters. Just don't play in the region because he doesn't see the value in it. You know? Uh, I'm Mom. I'm watching old highlights of last season and seeing some good things, saying some things that are not so good. Um and and I'm trying to figure out If What we're doing on our offensive line is a permanent deal or or is there really competition? There is cushioned, buried the starter or is that position still up for Um, uh, for competition. I think fundamentally, everything is always up for competition, but they're happy with where cushion barriers and You know, I've been out here at every practice safer when I was at the Hall of Fame, and he hasn't missed a rep. And just like last year, he's the only offensive player that played every single snap. Of the entire season for the Broncos on the offensive side. Justin Simmons, of course, did that on the defensive side, and he added 10 to £12 of muscle. And it's interesting talking to two teammates on both sides of the ball, but certainly on the Shelby Harris again because he covered this last weekend. This podcast that Cushion. Berry has taken a noticeable step, and he is functionally stronger. He obviously it was a trial by fire, and even though he made the all rookie team, I think some of that was just by circumstance because he Played all those snaps. But he's he has taken a step. Now I imagine if things aren't going well, we know Graham Glasgow has got a center background and we know the tiny Muti is certainly pushing for some sort of playing time, whether it's at left guard or right guard, So I think that's an option. I know something you talked about Big Island the spring you wouldn't mind seeing and and the tiny Muti. The biggest issue with him has always been His health right? The reason he was 1/5 rounders because he played 14 games at Fresno State instead of four years worth of three years' worth of games. And and so I don't know if we'll see Graham, Glasgow and Broncos uniform in a year, and I know they like when miners they took him in the third round and Dalton Prisoners job isn't set in stone forever. He's not on a deal like carrot balls. So I think they'll continuously competition on the interior that a line but it's definitely Lloyd Cushion. Very center job and even early in camp. This might be the first day of practice. Somebody asked the Fangio about when miners pushing Lloyd Cushion Berry in that competition, he goes well. Miners has to get into the competition first. And I don't know if he's ever done that, although he has shown his versatility, playing center and guard throughout the preseason, So BK when you are watching practice today, you know, we normally get an update on how each of the quarterbacks have done against the ones. And today would you have tipped a hat to either one of the quarterbacks? Or was it pretty? Even Steven? There? It seemed pretty even Steven. Now we did see a Kyle fuller interception of Teddy Bridgewater late on kind of a corner route, and somebody commented, Hey, that's the first play Kyle Fuller's made ultra training camp, and I had to kind of throw back through both my mental notes and and think about some of the notes I had written down and I hadn't really written called Cow Fuller's name down. That was the guy that was an all pro in this Vic Fangio defense and Going on a 10 year vet and they're paying $2 million for one year not worried about Kyle Fuller at all, but he didn't make that pic of Bridgewater and we saw some good throws. There were fans out here. It was close to the fans, but there were invited sponsors in their guests, Broncos sponsors and Broncos partners that we're out here, so there was a pretty good crowd. And there was some cheering for both quarterbacks, but I don't think you can tip to The one where the other today and so I guess that's what we're going to see the rest of the because, like if it made a decision, Teddy Bridgewater would have gotten all the first team reps and they probably working against some of the giant stuff, and they just weren't there still in a true 50 50 competition, and I think that's really good for both quarterbacks, but certainly good for you Lot. Well, the competition carries on for another day. I think it's probably going to carry on throughout the weekend, and after the game on Saturday, they'll probably announced B K. This is one of the weirdest longest quarterback battles that we've seen. But I do believe as big Fangio has been saying it's been a great quarterback battle, and it's good to see Two guys playing well, You don't anticipate a trade of the loser, do you? Not unless the team knocks your socks off right and somebody joke to practice. I'm not going to say who it was. But they said when Joe Burrow goes on IR for the rest of the year because his knee isn't responding to the Bangles off for the second rounder that the Broncos made the trade and take drew lock back because the Bengals like where their team was headed. And so I don't anticipate that mainly because of what Teddy Bridgewater said last week that you usually need more than one quarterback, Maybe not in all cases, but even Patrick Mahomes. We've seen go down twice the last two years, right? He hurt his knee here and chat. Any had to play and he got hurt in that game against the Browns in the playoffs, and Chad Henny had to play. So even let's go back in. The league has certainly miss games. Your teammate, the great John Elway's certainly.

Matt Stafford Justin Simmons Justine Simmons Joe Burrow Jalen Ramsey Kareem Jackson Patrick Mahomes Andrew Whitworth Aaron Donald Sean McVeigh John Elway Kyle Fuller Teddy Bridgewater Robert $2 million 14 games Alan Cincinnati Steven Kyle 10

"The 21 yard line. Same set right, seeing the receiver left treated left block play fake five million pressure. He floats the ball over the head of the attended receiver out of bounds stopping the clock. Trinity. Vincent was in the area, but honestly, that was a smart play. Drew lock completed the ball. Vinson was open, but he was opened in the middle of the field. He would have been tackled and the first half would have ended. Bad, bad good. Trinity Benson. Next time you run that out, I mean, you run that stop brought you pivot to the outside. You don't pivot to the inside because that's just the clock doesn't stop. Brother the clock know that Stop you pivot to the outside so that you can get that place so you can get a little bit closer. Two. A little bit closer for your kicker. And what happened in that moment, which was a good thing is that July did not throw that ball for completion. Right? I mean, that's a bad thing, right? Looks bad on your stat line that you didn't complete it right. But For all football fans. We know that if he would have thrown that ball and it would have been caught by Trinity Benson. Hey, you would've said good throw, You know, you need a time out. But really, you don't have a time out. That's a bad throw. That's a bad decision. But you made your mind up before the the opportunity actually presented itself. They if it's not there, throw it out of bounds. Trinity bent some pivot inside when he should have been pivoting outside on that route. Some of our some of our textures today from the 719. If Teddy wins the job, I'm okay with it, but I still think Drew was just as good as Teddy Teddy 157 yards, two touchdowns, zero interceptions drew 2 57 2 touchdowns and zero interceptions. That's in the two preseason games, and Teddy has 59 touchdowns for a career for his career and averages 197 yards per game. I do think that he needs to stretch defences. Uh, a little bit more than that, in order to be successful, But the way this defense has been playing out, Fred, my gosh. This defense has been playing some really, really good football. So let's talk about this because I'm a realist. Okay? And I try to try to stay in the moment and You know, you still are trying to find reasons why people are doing what they're doing as an analyst, okay? I'm analyzing the Seattle Seahawks, who have Russell Wilson of Future Hall of Famer at quarterback. Okay, they have them at quarterback. He is their number One option number two option is Geno Smith. Who? By the way, I got a concussion one, Okay. Got a concussion and week one. Thank you for that and did not play. So guess who they throw out there, Okay, We have a guy who is, uh hell of a quarterback. And Alex. My golf, okay? He gon Alec Medoff. Okay, now you have Sean Mannion. Guy who was in the Rams organization and I think was a third round draft pick. From the Rams back in the day and played at Oregon State, and he was outstanding, a four year starter at Oregon State. I remember this guy because I used to talk to him. I used to talk about him in the past. Okay. He is clearly an NFL quarterback, but you wanted to see who this guy McG office, right. So my golf goes out there and he plays and he plays horribly. Throwing an interception to Williams, and he threw it obvious interception to Justin Simmons like it was his homeboy. He threw that interception of justice and was like that was his home. So he let him perfect. I mean, I mean, they were playing catch in the parking lot. I have never seen the dumber interception in my life. I take that back. I have But that was one of the dumber ones right on the third down play. He's rolling. Right pocket is moving right? And he throws the ball. I mean chest hired to Justine Simmons. Justin Simmons Toe taps and catches the ball. Just Justin Simmons, Toe tapped, catches the ball and handed over the D. K. Metcalf. Like, what are y'all doing? What you do is this guy? Who is this guy? I'll tell you his fate On the other side. It's big Alan. Joe Joe, This is K away news. Radio traffic. Every 15 minutes of Monday drives being watched by Dave Hunter. Yeah. Still quite a mess. Downtown. The good news north down. I 25 record 38 Park Avenue guns. NFL Franchise Tag Tracker, Denver Broncos

"Own ego signing the franchise tag is gonna make you more money. In the long run. You will make more money off the franchise tag because you're still going to get the big money deal the next year or the year after. And it's interesting for like Dak Prescott, For example, he ended up getting the five year deal that Dallas ended up wanting simultaneously. He got more money up front. I mean, I think I remember he was six years ago. Control. They got everything they wanted out of exactly right. But on the other side, he had to wait for Patrick Holmes deal to come in. Yes, way for John Watson and better And that's you saying the market on Lee goes up You is an NFL team. You are one of two entities. You are the people that set the market or you are the people that are reacting to it. That's it. There is no in between, and so you can either get out in front of it and pay a guy and it's gonna be a cheap deal in two years. It's gonna be expensive. Looking at the front end. You're gonna get a little laughter when you sign it. And then two years and then your best bet go well, you got a quarterback, that's 80% of the market. Or you're gonna be. You know the team that it's reacting to the market and get going over pay for stuff. That's what happens. You know, the faster you get the deal done, the better off. You are period point blank end of discussion. By the way. Marcus may also got tagged today. So is it. We're tying to justice that was expected, You know, Like I said, I can't go to the particulars. But I had a great conversation there Senior bowl with Eric Burkhardt, who's Marcus Mae's agent? We're talking about the situation and everything, And I think those two safeties are eyeballing each other as far as what the contract Sorry. It's gonna be a question. Which team blinks first, but this was kind of like If we go back several years, everyone Dez Bryant and Marius Thomas. Both got tags. They both ended up getting their contracts done, but they literally got done within the same day. Well, it was pulled. Teams were waiting on the other one, You know, to kind of see the framework and see if they were the same ballpark. This deal done. And finally Jerry was, like, just do it here, you know, And that's and then the Broncos like, okay, we'll offer you that. It is very same thing crazy, so it might come down to the same kind of deal And if the Jets can get Marcus made done, they think Justin's will get done first, and I think it will get done early. Okay, So I think Justin's deal we've got well before the draft. Okay. All right. I like that. They've got to well after that to get it done. So that's just my hunch. Um, based on what I know about both sides of the situation and and again, it kind of comes back to the whole procedural word that was used. That was the word that the Broncos used. That's the word that we've understood this entire time. You've been listening the program, we said From a procedural standpoint, the Broncos will likely use that franchise tag for the second time on Justine Simmons is not the intense and not give him a long term deal. People are misunderstanding this situation, and I even had questions today about okay. Well, if they would've pushed back the franchise tag, maybe the Broncos could've gotten something done. Or maybe the Broncos should have tried to do something like the Cowboys were. This whole deal came together in like 24 hours. The fact is, if you You with the way it's supposed to be viewed, which is what the Broncos are doing. This is a we don't want you going anywhere. We don't want to risk getting to the final 11th hour and all of a sudden there's a paperwork issue, and we can't do a bill. That's exactly right. We do not want to risk that. We're not gonna stub our toe. And so we're going to go ahead and get this thing done now and understand they on the other side. The expectation by all parties involved is to get something long term done. Yeah, um and how it should be used by the way the doctor getting it done in 24 hours. I hate that. I hate that term because it's It's not really They were close last year last they were. They were close last twosome framework there, But I'm saying that like it really escalated over the last 24 hours. To appoint, at least at some of the reporting this out there really escalated over the last 24 hours that they were able to get to the finish line right before the franchise tag deadline, right, so that that's that's the thing Dallas has been called. They were close, actually Latin. Not last year, the year before last, Scuse me. Before the first tag that September. They were close. Stephen Jones, They believed they had it. They believed they had it and they were. There were some issues with length and and how the final two years of the deal were structured and all that kind of stopping. It fell apart last night, but they they thought Dallas thought they had it done. S o. You know, I'll just I'll just leave that at that. And we can we go up but a sparse the Broncos go. I have no doubts that they'll get this deal done. I really don't have 99.999999999% Sure they get this thing done, Okay? And then as far as

Broncos Dak Prescott Patrick Holmes Eric Burkhardt Marcus Mae Marius Thomas John Watson Marcus Justine Simmons Dallas Justin Dez Bryant NFL LEE Jets Jerry Cowboys Stephen Jones Latin

"And who better to break some news. Then zak stevens. Dvr broncos zach. Justin simmons were getting is. Sounds like we're getting the franchise tag thrown on mr simmons. Is that right. Yeah that is what's happening brady for a second straight year. Justin simmons is gonna get the franchise tag which means a twenty percent raise from last year for justice. That tag is gonna cost the broncos thirteen point seven million dollars this year making just in the sixth highest paid safety but brady. This is just a placeholder. right now. the broncos more so than last year are very motivated to get a long term deal done and so they hope that justin does not play on the franchise tack this year and that he gets a term deal before that july fifteenth deadline. Okay so you're you're getting that sense to the both sides are good with each other. This is just a way to make sure. Hey we're you're not going anywhere. We'll get something done but this isn't like it doesn't feel quite like last year right where it's franchise tag depends on how they get it but a lot of times players really hate that but in your in your mind from what you're hearing both sides good with each other. This is just a means to an end. We're gonna get justin locked up with something. Yep exactly a hundred percent. And that's what i was hearing this off season and then george peyton made that very clear yesterday. When we talked to him he was asked about justin. Simmons justin is one of our core. Guys are goals since i got here is to sign him to a long term deal we have had discussions with his agent. I don't know if we'll get a long term deal done or not but that's the goal. He's the type of guy we want to extend. And here's the here's the thing that goes on top of that brady if it's not like the broncos and justin simmons should be too far off from a long-term to last year. They were far off on a long-term last year. The tackle may cost them. Eleven million dollars where the market for for justin for a top paid safety was fourteen or fifteen year so there was a significant gap there now but by paying him. Thirteen point seven million dollars this year. Under the franchise tag. They're only a million away from resetting the market by making just in the highest paid. If that's what they have to do in order to get him in now if they don't have to make him the highest paid safety than the really really close to that number. But if you want. Justine simmons to the tune of you know thirteen seven. You probably want him to the tune of fourteen. Seventy five is what would make him the highest safety and the league and that would get a deal done now. Brady what i warn against is the broncos just dragging out all the way up until the july fifteenth deadline. Because what could happen is you could see. Some other. safeties continued to reset the market and drive that price up to fifteen million a year to fifteen and a half to sixteen million a year. There's some good young safeties out there that could do that. And then just price tag is only going to go up from there. Zac so tell me then. Why is this. Why is this necessary. Then if we're talking about a million dollars. Is that where justin would be happy if that's what we're talking here then why. Why put the tag on them at this point with everything you just said. It seems a little risky and to lose a guy or even upset a guy over a million and then to see four five six other safeties get two three four To me it seems a little bit a too risky at this point in time..

"The breaking news music. And who better to break some news than zak. Stevens of dvr broncos zach. Justin simmons were was. Sounds like we're getting the franchise tag thrown on. mr simmons. is that right. Yes that is what's happening brady for a second straight year. Justin simmons is gonna get the franchise tag which means eight twenty percent raise from last year for justin's of that tag is gonna cost the broncos thirteen point seven million dollars this year making just in the sixth highest paid safety but brady. Okay so you're getting that sense that both sides are good with each other. This is just a way to make sure. Hey we're you're not going anywhere. We'll get something done but this isn't like it doesn't feel quite like last year i worked at franchise tag depends on how they get it but a lot of times players really hate that but in your in your mind from what you're hearing both sides good with each other. This is just a means to an end. We're going to get justin locked up with something. Yep exactly one hundred percent. And that's what i was hearing this off season and then george peyton made that very clear yesterday. When we talked to him he was asked about justin simmons. Music justin is one of our core. What would make him the highest safety and the league and that would get a deal done now. Brady what i warned against is the broncos just dragging this out all the way up until the july fifteenth deadline. Because what could happen is you could see some other. Safeties continued to reset the market and dr price up to fifteen million a year. Fifteen and a half to sixteen million a year. There's some good young safeties out there that could do that. And then justice price tag is only going to go up from there. Zac so tell me then why. Why is this. Why is this necessary. Then if we're talking. I mean what a million dollars is that where justin would be happy. If that's what we're talking here then. Why put the tag on them at this point with everything you just said. It seems a little risky and to lose a guy or even upset a guy over a million and then to see four five six other safeties. Get two three four to me. It seems a little bit too risky at this point in time. Right and so. The broncos had to apply the franchise tag by this coming tuesday or they were going to make justin simmons an unrestricted free agent. So this is more of a formality. and the the two sides. Like i said they close but how. How long is that going to take and brady. I agree with you. I would not drag this out until july. I would get this deal done in the next couple of months now. I guess there's no rush now because you know he's not going to hit the open market now But it's something that you don't wanna mess with. Justin simonds like you said if you like him to the tune of thirteen seven. You've got to like him to the tune of fourteen seven right and and so to me. That's why i think this deal won't go up to the july fifteen deadline which other deal pretty much. The john elway has done in the past with franchise tag guys has gone up to that deadline. Interesting so okay you got. You got justin simmons. Yes i agree we gotta we gotta hurry this along still but you got him locked up at least for the year. That solves one of the riddles. And there's more to it on that. George peyton guys heard from him yesterday. Talking a lot. well justin. Simmons was one of those guys. Von miller drew lock. What were your takeaways from. George payton when it came to drew lock When it came to drew lock I got a very similar feeling from him about what i thought. The broncos thought about drew. Lock him what i thought. The broncos thought about drew lock and everything that i heard was well. They were looking at other. Quarterbacks brady they had They had interest significant interest in matthew stafford. And that right. There raises a big red flag. About what they felt about drew. And that's the feeling i got yesterday. Brady as you know. We heard the same things about. He's very talented He has all the tools that those are some things that That george paid said about him yesterday. That he's confident In drew but they're going to bring in competition shawn watson is on the table. When asked about the sean specifically yesterday payton said well. I can't comment on that. Because he's under contract with another team but then right after that he followed up with. We're going to be aggressive and we're going to be in on every deal. He said that brady huge smile on his face. One that he couldn't hold backs to me tells me they are absolutely going to be interested in shawn watson as they should as most teams in the nfl should be. And then when asked about drafting a quarterback the first round he said yeah it every every Position is on the table in the first round so not ruling that out either. It's clear to me that they will be looking for a significant upgrade at quarterback this offseason now whether they can pull that off or not Will depend on if drew lock as a starting quarterback but to me it does not seem like they have full confidence in grew while even listening to vic fangio's comments i feel like he's certain to become a head coach more far as both sides. He's like yeah. We can get better but you know where we were always gonna look elsewhere to. I felt like justice simmons they. They've played that thing pretty well as far as the pr side goes. Yeah you're you're one hundred percent right. Brady they want everyone back but seemingly without even saying at the right price you're one hundred percent right And they really get their cap. They one afraid to say it about justin. Just how he was going to be back no matter what and now we know that for sure today but everyone else. Yeah we want von back yeah. Shelby harris is a priority and free eight. We're going to tender phillip lindsay. Tim patrick alexander johnson. Okay well what. What tenders are you going to put on those three guys. Oh we'll not sure yet. Okay well that depends on the that shows you. They're going to have them back or not. So of course they want all of these guys back. But it's pretty clear to me that it's not going to be. Yeah we want von back With any question. We're picking up the option. We want shelby back. We're going to make him a high pay defensive lineman so there's still a lot of work to be done and after franchise tacking justin simmons brady. The broncos have roughly thirty million dollars in cap space. All of these guys that that they said they wanted to keep. But then you're going to have no money on the open market to bring in any free agent. So that's why i expect some other deals to happen whether it's extensions in pay cuts for some of the guys that they wanna bring back or whether it's just flat out saying goodbye to some of these guys and now one guy that's really highlighted for for me in the next week is kareem jackson. The broncos have that contract options to either pick up or decline with korean. And you're paying. Justin simmons a lot of money this year. And you're probably going to be paying him a lot of money in the future. I think that they're going to try to work. Something out with kareem whether it's a pay cut which. I don't find very possible because of just how welcome as plate or whether it's more of restructure in an extension. They have one week to make that decision.

"About the Cowboys and back. Yeah, the Cowboys have had two years of training franchise tax. What was he franchise tag both years because this was just his fourth year last year. Uh, this is here, accusing the fact I think this is I'm looking at his. I was looking at his numbers. Let me let me make sure that This is the first years actually getting franchised. No, this is no last year s so after three years A zoo, fourth round pick. Right. He was in the 2017 2016 draft. Last year's French I A politician last year was his first year because he impacted where the same draft we know that Jerry tried to trade up to get Paxton Lynch. So yeah. Last year made 31 million this year. He's gonna make between 35 or 40 if they franchise him again. So how does this work? How does this work does is Dallas this Dallas love this guy and can can Team like Denver trade with Dallas. Well, I think they're gonna franchise him first of all and Benjamin Albright. Who is pretty plugged into the Cowboys to through his Arkansas ties there, Uh, said that he thinks they're gonna franchise when I saw that on Twitter either there yesterday, so they're gonna Franchising which means that in control where he can go right Um, and if they were to move him, it would probably be under the guise of that team working out unacceptable deal with his agent Todd, France, who, by the way, is also Justine Simmons, agent among others. S O. The Broncos certainly have had talks, and that's who. The Broncos chief negotiator. Richard Tato was the right hand man for Todd for all those years before he came and joined the Broncos last offseason this time, actually, so so one of the things that I've been concerned with in this deal Is that that Prescott can just say OK, I'm going to sign your one year deal again. I mean, he could just guessing. Just take the one year deal and That's it. All right, And then he actually the same playbook as her cousin. You're right. And then he incurred, cousin said a deal that reset the market where that'll get tricky and I'm not saying somebody won't pay it. Is that If I'm negotiating with back, I'm still going to say, Well, I can't pay you more than Patrick Mahoney's getting paid because he's better than all of all of the other quarterbacks to this point, But if the Cowboys really want to show the love And I don't know how he hasn't agreed to any of these deals yet, like what's he waiting for? You waiting for 40 year because we heard that the number's been like 34 35 a year, right? And he keeps saying no to that is not what was reported or definitely the thirties. And so I guess it's what's the number. Okay here, Let's pay it. But if I'm Jerry and Stephen, I kind of see what comes back off his injury because that wasn't that Wasn't he rolled his ankle or had a little surgery? I mean, that was pretty devastating the way it is leg looked in that In that gruesome injury, and I'll always remember the date because one day my daughter was born October 11th. So it's gonna It's gonna take a lot. I think for Jerry and Stephen the just cut that check And and hope for the best Right, BK. By the way, Tony Pauline's going to join the show tomorrow. But over the weekend, he made references. To drew like not have any full grasp of the offense. A reference to the fact that they had to done the playbook down for him to get it. Yeah, And I don't know if if that's accurate because I hadn't heard that what I do know about Drew. And I heard this, uh, after his rookie year that this is a guy and you can't get Tom Brady. Oh, I'm pretty sure still has a place sheet on his arm. That will always need the place it on his own, because he's just a visual learner, And that's why he remembers things. So you take the fact that he wasn't out of you with Mike Shula pastor but the entire off season. And he just wasn't probably this far along in the offense is a well so don't let me down. Scaling it back are two different things. But there's people that that, like the Tim Jenkins of the world who comes on with Broncos Country Knight, who has, you know pro coaching quarterback experience, who said that they ran too many complex plays for the playbook to be truly dumb down. With some of the progressions and some of the things that drew needed to do in that offense. I'm gonna I'm gonna trust somebody like that, saying the play calling was too complex for it to have been truly dumb down. Scaled back and dumb down are two different things right. Scaled back is Hey, we just don't know if we can get to all of this, and we don't know if you're If you'll be able to recall all of it quickly because we haven't drilled it enough to run it enough, But the sense I get, I talk to somebody in organization David so that that report was completely off base. But I don't think they truly dumbed it down. I think they may have just not been able to put exactly everything into to the playbook that or installed it into the offense that Pat Shurmur has sitting there and his very thick binder. Which is all on iPad today, anyway, you know, I just don't I don't like the conversations that Basically say that a player cannot do something in this league. Um, based on some some anonymous reports because the greatest coaches, let's let's face it, okay. The greatest coaches get the most out of players. If you have to change your playbook, then maybe it's a sign that your playbook is outdated for today's players, you know, maybe maybe the conversation and the, uh, you know way always talked about it has to match up with what we talked about. It has that. That's the matchup. Let's talk about this. Let's talk about dumbing plays down, okay? Now, maybe, you know, One of the stories that we did last year was how Andy recalls some of his plays. Ferrari, right. Is that dumb down enough for you? Yeah. What about when? When the Patriots like some of what Oregon was doing, right what they changed their offense to out, Wouldn't it? Just one word? It was like stuff at one point. Yeah, purple and you know what? As a matter of fact, Bill Belichick got on an airplane chip Kelly went out to Bill Belichick. They installed the Tom Brady hurry up offense when they were in Fox Borough to be one call plays and they ran those plays and ran teams out of that stadium. In Foxboro, So don't give me this whole crap about dumbing plays down or you know what, man? That's when you're doing the right thing. If Tom Brady can get a one call Ah, one word call, then why can't do lock or any other quarterback in this league? Why do you have to make it so difficult? Where it's a. It's a chemistry test. Or mathematical process rather than just.

Bill Belichick Patrick Mahoney Pat Shurmur Benjamin Albright Mike Shula Tony Pauline Justine Simmons Stephen Richard Tato Tom Brady Cowboys Tim Jenkins Andy 31 million iPad October 11th Drew David 40 year today

"Oh, it is video Get always today. The anniversary of this being the first video played on MTV. Ah, See, there you go. Would be the relevance of the song. No, That's just the only reason why this song is relevant at all. Okay. I don't like today's University. By the way, I just said that about Chris Godwin. Bruce Arians is they were celebrating. I just saw this tweet 40 minutes ago, said your blank ain't going nowhere either to Chris Godwin. So no, it's nice to say that it's another thing when agents and And cat. People get together and say Watership. Yeah, I don't like we want. We want you for eight. He's like I could get 14 somewhere else. So it's hold on. I think this is the time Brady of not this is truly Time Brady effect. Look, man stick here, Play here in Tampa Bay. Take a little less money. Don't pay state taxes, Stay here and let's go win two more Super Bowls. Listen, man, this is this is to me. This is the ultimate sales pitch that's going on in NFL. I've seen it work. I mean, we did it with the Denver Broncos. We did with my teams. We did it with Ah, Peyton's teams man when you have that guy, and he's been given the juice like Tom Brady has been given the juice there in Tampa Bay. To call the right place to get into the right place to work with the coaching staff man. That's the right situation, bro. I mean, that is one. That's the one situation. That Patrick Mahomes will get to later down the line that he doesn't have right now about every person that kind of touchdown pass to the Super Bowl. Wasn't on the team until Tom Brady got there, right, and Tom Brady was the advocate form. Mike Evans was my Kevin's gonna make $12.2 million next year. Chris Godwin's made $3 million in four years, so I don't know what that number is. I'm not saying you're wrong. But this isn't the MBA. And I think about Draymond Green when he signed his big deal, and it wasn't a Max deal, and when he was asked, why didn't you ask for more money? You said Look. I am making whatever Still $100 million he goes, That's not going to change anything in my life. I'm still gonna live in a very nice house in the same block and do the same things I was doing, but that gives us extra money to go out and get more guys and then, by the way, they signed Kevin Durant shortly thereafter and that will help us one more championships That will change my life. But very much perspective is a little different because NBA money is different than NFL money When Chris Godwin Only three at $3.8 million he's made in four years. It's gonna be tough for him The have his agent look across the table. Jason lighter virtually and said, Hey, we want it back, but we couldn't do three years. 24 1, another team of fame. Five years. 90 or whatever. After Mark Cooper got 100 million in over five years last year from the Cowboys. I know the economics gonna be different, but Chris Godwin's one of the top two or three players on the market right now as a true free agent. Okay. Obviously AJ Bouvier got released today and you did talk to us about that in in early December that you thought that that was the plan so that that's the first move that George Payton has done as the new general manager of the Broncos. How fast and furious now do these moves continue to go forward. Well, I think the next move that makes the most sense is the other one that I told you guys about it, and that's General Casey. The differences there is that drill. Casey is still injured and going through rehab, so if they were toe Release, and now they have to come with an injury settlement and pay him some portion of the almost $12 million that he's getting, and that's about how much we're gonna clear with boy 12 million. It'll come off the cap that taken cough the payroll that they can use other places where guys like Justine Simons and von Miller, perhaps her or shall be Harris. So I think Casey is next and then I'm guessing the conversations after that. Are likely with either well John James Stevie's Gonna Stay room. He's going to stay opting out and maybe retire. We're gonna assume he's not because I was saving a bunch of money, but it's perhaps some sort of restructuring with Kareem Jackson. It's a team option for $12.8 million. So for a guy that's now well into his thirties. He's what 31 32. I'm double checking right now. He's 32. He'll be 33 by the time the year Stars is birthday's next month. What does AH Multiyear deal look like if if one and all for cream, but I think it's Casey. First, I think, Scream and then a name that I brought up when we had that conversation about boy Rice. Callahan's got one year left at 8.5 million. And while we know how good he's been when he's on the field, the biggest issue is that he hasn't been on the field a lot. So do you just continue to go young or do you pay in that final year? Here? You don't the restructure, but I think those were the three names. That you're talking about that you might let go or might rework. And then von Miller's a separate conversation and Justine Simons new contract is also a different conversation. But those air in order and so there's a long answer your question. I think I think Casey's up next very likely, but he has to be healthy first for them to then release it. Wow. You make it sound like it's justice Simmons deal is is gonna happen and that this is just a matter of time. It feels inevitable because in George Payton can say whatever he wants, but in multiple interviews and getting the sense talking to people in that building. Vic really wants that. We know how how much his defense relies on good secondary play. Good safety play, especially And you're thinking said. We're not in the habit of getting rid of our our own young players are good young players, and that's who Justin is. And then Justin had a sit down interview with Channel four last week, where he told Michael Spencer that he went over and was at the facility and met George and didn't talk about football once just kind of got to know him, and and I think, sometimes the little things like that. Can help. Uh, what could be a contentious negotiation on? That would be that contentious because the guy that's negotiating for the Broncos was Justine Simmons agent firm for the last four years until the Broncos hired him last year, So I think that it will get done to question of what is that number look like because of these economics and maybe the bonuses higher, But the per year is less or whatever accounts this year is, you know, spread out. I just think it feels like A Z Muchas any move that they're going to make this offseason re signing Justine Simmons feels the one that if I were going to place a bet on draftkings or bet rivers or any other happy wanted to use, I would bet Justine Simons is back and he's the highest paid stake in football. That to me. That just makes no sense. I'm just gonna be Honest with you. You're gonna play..

"And I don't worry about the risk that drew lock will be alienated. Her butt hurt. Maybe both will happen, But then you got to come back and play it if they can't work out a deal to better themselves. That's That's the way the NFL goes. Then you got to come back. Assume you're gonna be the starting quarterback play better get the team around you to play better and move on. But I don't think you know it's been interesting to read some of the comments. Social media about the Broncos, in the estimation of some fans are screwing this thing up because they're making You know it known publicly about their interest in other quarterbacks. First and foremost, I am seen anything Come out of U. C Health center, so I don't think the Broncos necessarily or making anything public. George Payton has been. He was on this show when he first got hired, but And again. We talked about this. I talked to two people in the league. That have dealt with Peyton over a long period of time. Both of these guys I talked to are in management, and both of them said good things about George Payton grinder hard worker. But they said, Hey, he's not gonna you know, don't expect him to come on and be Overly gregarious or overly talkative. That's just not he'll answer. Your questions will be respectful, and that's fine with me. You got a football guy in there. So what if he didn't like to do too many media things? That's okay. But they haven't said anything publicly. So I mean, if I'm drew lock, all I can do is control what I can control. I come back in great shape, stronger, bigger, ready to assume that I'm gonna be the number one quarterback and that's the mindset he has to have. Everything else is out of his control. One thing about George Payton to when he was at Minnesota. Not only did he kick the tires, he bought the tires. Kirk Cousins, which was a big, big, big deal. Blockbuster with Kirk Cousins hasn't really worked out that great. The Vikings, but he was there in a part of that transaction, so It makes you think you know he's open to making those kind of deals. While he's here with the Denver Broncos. As the general manager in there, so many of these quarterbacks that look like they could be available. Uh, it kind of gets you a little excited. The only difference with the cousins deal and cousins statistically. Um, I had a good year this year. Vikings. Not really. But the only thing the difference between that deals some of these deals there were draft choices involved, right cousins was able to basically because he played out to franchise tags sit back and say Okay, Now I'm literally a free agent who's going to come up with the best deal and as it turned out, It was the Vikings. That was what was the three years and 84 Million? Yeah, and every single penny guaranteed, which which, at that point was almost unheard of in the NFL. And Kirk cousins. It's not like Kirk Cousins was considered. The premier quarterback in the NFL when they paid that kind of money, So it was a bit of a risk that they took. Kirk Cousins has put up good numbers. They just haven't been able to win with him right, like they wanted to. On a totally agree about Drew lock. You know, you just keep your head down. You work hard. Try to ignore all of this, which is really tough to do, especially for a young guy. Really tough to do When you're hearing your teammates. Talking about the Shawn Watson. When you're hearing these rumors, Russell Wilson could be available. Matthew Stafford, you know a couple weeks ago. It's pretty hard to ignore all of that. But you just keep your head down. You keep working hard and get better. And we'll see what happens. Will he be the starting quarterback in 2021? I think chances from me. I think chances are pretty good that that will be the case. But when you start seeing some of these things in the Broncos in the mix On these odds for these big names had I mean, it gives you not only interesting thing to talk about, but maybe get you a little excited, too. You know, I look a pro football focus a lot, but I do think your bowls at a much better year obviously signed a sign an extension and I say good for him and his family and I think good for the Broncos based on his play this year. But 19 19th best player in the NFL. Uh, you know what they might underpaid for him. If that's the case, you know, he signed the deal before the season was over. If he wouldn't maybe what a weight until the end of the season, maybe he would have got more money. You know the way it turned out for him and for Broncos made the pro football focus Top 100. I did notice that they ranked Kareem Jackson ahead of Justine Simmons, who's also looking to get paid. I found that interesting as well. I just don't know how how they can pay both. I mean, I don't either. I really don't but but with cream lobbying for two, Shaun watching like he's doing There's a chance Karim might not even be on this team next year. I find that interesting that you and I talked about that earlier. I think the Broncos if they have any hope of and I think would be a long shot An extraordinarily long shot to get this show on Watson. But you better keep Kareem Jackson. If you're thinking about cutting, Corinne, we're trying to restructure. You might want to keep that dude just until Shawn Watson decides what's he's gonna do Is this the last year in Karim's contract? I would have to go back and look at that. I do not. I do not know. But I think.

"Hey, listen to the main Bronchus Country tonight. Ryan Edward Spencer. But Albright It was up on the phones. Real 3713, 85, 85 or 56690. Ben is dancing in studio, not realizing we're rolling on everything I am realizing, And I want a copy of that. Trapping. You can't dance with the intention of getting a copy of it. It's gonna be busted out to Saturday Saturday night Fever moves. I saw it. I'm here for it. Was you? Apparently, we're not? No, I thought you hate fun. Right? Unicorns in America. Wait a minute. What again is just just twisted. John Travolta. 56 68 zeros or text like it a lot of texting that last segment. Let's get some of that. And then we'll talk about jury duty. This one of the techs like Well, von take a pay cut. Stuff one. Was asked about that earlier in the off season course. He was asked about it in the midst of being on IR and I'm one of the things that I think doesn't really get explored enough or talked about enough is Out of the dark place that I Arcand be for players that you're separated from your team. You're not allowed to really do anything. You're physically can't really move around. You think about you in the elite athlete. Being told to not do anything, stay put. Go get rehab, but not interact with your team and not be out there to help your team when it's it's kind of a lonely, dark place. Yeah, he was. He reacted to such e think That's one place for you Need your teammates you need to, like, Stop it in full rules. Kinda preclude like that just kind of socks. But in the midst of that, you know asked about Hey, are you coming back to this team, or you wanted to take a pay cut? And what are you doing like? I mean, like I get it. I get I get my radio host guys asking that At the same time. Kind of like you know why you best with another man's money? Why do you care? You know? But that doesn't matter In the end the Broncos are you going to work in one of the captain or not? Yeah. And in this case, so So, the question about Will von take a pay cut? I mean, we don't even know necessarily effects. The Broncos intention. We don't know if George Payton came into this situation, saying I'm not paying Miller that amount of money because I don't think at 31 years of age, he could give us the same kind of production that a quarterback basically can give. And I need to allocate that money elsewhere, right? Um von Miller, first one wouldn't be taking a pay cut. What you would do is you would give him an extension and you would guarantee See the money that's in that. That's already do with the team option inside of that extension, so he never loses a dollar, so it's never really technically a pay cut. In that regard. Now the salary number might be lower. But he's only got one year at 21 Million. At this point on, I usually work guaranteed it would be guaranteed on the team option, right? It's not guaranteed right now. So the team could say, Well, we're just not gonna pick up your option. You get out there the market. You're not gonna get that 21 million. You might get a long term deal in a new system that you gotta relearn. Or we can offer you that 21 million back and guarantees over the next four years, three years. Plus a little bit extra money. If you move that number down if you're willing to move that number down Into the 14 $15 million range. And this was so tough like I said that the ast al jik part of it. I mean, he is exactly what George Payton said He wants to keep homegrown like I'm right, and that's something Minnesota has prided themselves on. And so so in that case, I'd say he's absolutely coming back. But where the contract currently is that where his performance because it wasn't able to play list last year. That's a tough spot, and I definitely know that it will be if the Broncos move on. The fans will have a really hard time with it. At the same time. There are some tough decisions you have to make. Now. It's also about what you replace that with. So if you decide that you're not going to keep von Miller what is the answer, And that's where we were talking about edge rushers in the last segment. Okay, Well, if you're gonna move on fair for von Miller and you damn well know, you have to do better than what your production was last year. You were not getting enough pressure. Bradley Trump had a good year like he had a good year for a pressure standpoint, but you need more production on the opposite side. Really. Greed got some cleanups taxes you mentioned had a good year Look for he led all undrafted players in Saxony. It's a hell of a year, the Broncos and sex but they need they need. They still need more right. And it wasn't because necessarily. He was so dominant. It's because Bradley troubles moving the pocket audio side and in Millie just happen to be the Malik was doing his job You can't fault will agree for doing his job he was doing was asked of him. The Broncos need more. They need a more effective Russia. They need to in order to make this defense work. You have to be able to get pressure or 45 and more leaks. Past win rate was below 50%, and that's not getting it done. OK, So you say the priority right now is Justine Simmons. We know Shelby Harris is in that mix, too, right? Where would you put the percentage at least how you're feeling about von Miller? Right now? I still think it's about 80% is back. Okay, I know that the right. You know, he's doing the posturing thing and, you know, have obvious. Um, same thing he did when you know, you know where we're going at it in the contract negotiations cut about all the pictures right on von is on my level of Petty. Um, you know, in van ponders Bob, thanks to try to get with von once and good for von You know, we we applaud the team when they save some money on a contract. We should applaud a player where they're trying to secure the bag too. You know, we're all just We're all just people out there trying to make a little extra money, right? So I'm not mad at von Miller for trying to do all that kind of stuff, And I'm not mad at the way he goes about it. Um, you know some some media used players to further their and some players use media further there and survives. We're good at it. Um, because he knows the media will all go into a tizzy if he gets rid of all the Broncos pictures. Another texture on the text line. Forget the jury. Judy. What's the option? If Fools and Minshew and Norman Hsu or Dalton? I guess any one of those three are not available for the Broncos. Um, I mean, that's a lot to say all three or not available. Yeah. I also understand needed a game of musical chairs and what other teams are trying to do? And I know I get that. But at that point, I mean, I don't know what the answer is at that point. If Sam Donaldson available by trade that I don't know, because they want a veteran..

"There's some duds at the back end of this, But like if you look at number 31 the Jaguars, okay. CJ Henderson Colombian chase on legislation all around, too. I think you're really excited about him, right? But you expect some of these pics. To be too need to develop just because they didn't all of a sudden bust out like Justin Jefferson. You're one no reason to throw in the tower. The Jeffrey Ricotta Detroit, another example. You know, so I'm not. I'm not overreacting to it to dramatically. I think a lot of the teams at the top it got a ton out of the rookie classes. You look at the Washington ball team, the box Tristen Worse. And from Winfield, the Colts on Ben, Of course, the Bangles with choe Burrow. They had guys that were put in prime position and, yeah, they delivered in their rookie year. But that doesn't mean that the guys at the back can't deliver in their 2nd and 3rd year. That's why you're drafting them in the first place. You know if you're auditioning for one, Wait nine. The hater. I don't think the reason too nuanced. Take like that is gonna is gonna work. Let me ask you Look, let me ask you a legitimate question here, though, When? When do you think it is appropriate to judge Class A draft class. That's a great that's a great point. I think once you get to once you have three years in there, um I think it's appropriate to start looking at that draft class relative to the rest, But I really don't think you wanna overreact. Certainly to the first year, I think you're too you know, depending on the consistency of the team around them. You can start to look at things, but I would really want to see Three years. Hopefully, by that point, you had some sort of continuity within the team. I mean most of the team's drafting, high or bad, right, So it's tough to get a keen scent on the smaller sample your three fine, but ultimately you want to look at that fool wait for that rookie contract for five years. All right. You know, I was looking back because because, you know, we're all used to talk with you about this. I was looking back at the Broncos draft class of 2017 and yes, carry balls turned out great. There was a shaky there for a little bit, but it turned out great after him. Marcus Walker, who did play out his contract but will not be back Carlos Anderson, not in the league. Brennan Langley, not in the league, Jake, but this he's gonna be gone and it's unfortunate but injuries. Isaiah Mackenzie actually has been pretty good out there in Buffalo Butts, a miss for the Broncos because they moved on so fast. The Angela Anderson and Chad swag Kelly That is the 2017 draft class. So we're kind of right in that window. That's four years, but my goodness, I think after two we all felt pretty good about knowing with that draft class. Will you still call him swagger? Do we call him vacuum bag now? It Z. Yeah, Swagger's not the word that you would use for that particular graphic. No You shine a light on something that's really important. Which is the draft is is a lottery. You know, in so many ways, if you think you know you don't know. Um and you have to be willing to place bets that have at best, like 53% chance of hitting, And there's the chance that you can flip a coin five times and they can land tales for you five straight times. So you can't let You can't let draft classes like that. I think. Impact your team too much on go way that you do that is you continually make smart bets, right? You trade back, acquire more picks. You look to get a quarterback to will lift your receiving corps and make sure you know whether they're good or not. But those are things that cannot mitigate a draft class like that. Because it's hard. Sometimes you look at those yo, man. Well, I'm clearly bad. A traffic. No, you got unlucky. We ripped right? You zigged instead of zagging basically seven times and that can sometimes get you in a lot of hot water. Of course. The very next draft. They did pretty good. Bradley Chub wide receiver one Courtland sudden, Roy Stream has been productive, wide receiver. One Courtland suddenly I think I said that twice. Hey, George is good to have you on, man. Thanks So much of the time And yes, we're all good. Now I think we cleared the Air Broncos fans, the ones who listened to show I will. I will. I will call off the dogs. They will not egg your house tonight. I appreciate it. I appreciate that to vanquish that were sent him all the college fourth place. All right, George, take care of it. George. Jury at Pff underscore charge. That was pretty good. Yeah. I mean, you know that Ximena. They had some hits the year before, though, because you know Justine Simmons. Obviously a hit on that's about it. Really? Yeah, it was like I was like you said just then. I was like that covers that draft class. Well, parks is the league Devante Booker shredded the Broncos. He had that game this year. Yeah, Sally, and then you just keep going back, and it just doesn't get better. No, no, it doesn't. Not really Do they hold the greater the bridge building. They know they do. No, I don't. But in 2018 on, uh, some improvement certainly some improvement. And I don't know. I mean, I'm excited. I mean, you don't look a jury. Judy K. J. Hammer. "So so basically, we're trying to say is How like we say with the other elite coaches, But even Mike Munchak is an example. When you have an elite guy that's coaching one side of the ball. He gets the best out of the players, regardless of the level of talent. So yes, if he had great players, he would, you know, take them to another level, but he's gonna give you a baseline of performance. On the defensive side of the ball. Regardless of who's out there. Think about all the guys they were missing me and we talked about it done. But think about all the guys they were missing. And if they were still 13th, India v away. Are you kidding me? Listen, eight starters, you're down to C B 89 and 10 credible. That is incredible. That is incredible Coaching right? There's absolutely I think it's a test that I think this year. Only only strengthened the resume of Vic Fangio agreed. I mean, you know those nerds out there trying to fire him and stuff And that was just ridiculous. But around the league you talk to people like, and it was one of the things that this week I actually did get a chance to talk to some people in this s of these. Why you're why you're always talking about these fans. Wanna fire Vic Fangio? What kind of idiot fan days do they have up there in Denver right now? You know, these people from other team brought a dog in the fight. You know, so it's It was just It was kind of funny, and it's refreshing. Honestly, Sometimes they get out of the bubble and go talk. Tomo thought to be from other teams and you know and see what they think. It's pretty split on Drew locked. There are guys that are like, Yeah, man. He's got the tools if you could, you know, if you just put it all together. It's gonna be a stud and their other guys like I guess things especially the draftniks. A lot of the draft analyst people that I talk to you was. It was a complete mixed bag whether some of them were holding on to what their assessment of Drew lock was back when he was drafted a couple of years ago, and they're like, Yeah. The project quarterback with 50 ft. And he really hasn't changed my mind on that. So I understand why they're there, but not one of them. And I mean not one of them or down on Vic Fangio. In fact, like you pointed out, most of them were lauding Vic Fangio. When I was out there when we're out there in mobile. Most were lauding him like Do you realize how good that defense performed? There were the number one defense of the red Zone without And Miller starter. Yes, without without all of these studs, and by the end of the year of the fact that he had that team competing, and they and most of them pointed out that Chiefs came as a stroke of genius. Many of them came back. That might be the blueprint for pat balls. You know, that might be it. You kind of took with the Raiders. Did you turned it into something? That's that's viable. And now let's see if anybody could actually execute. It was right. After that. The Dolphins came out tried to attack and I got the doors blown off. So what? Back to the point the question here. That Is kind of being floated about is if he if you have to move some of these defensive players in order to make a run at some of these quarterbacks, or do something along those lines, don't you at least for a moment? Say, Well, Vic Fangio could do a lot with very little on that side of the ball because he's one of the elite minds of the defense. While I sort of agree with that. The problem is, you're already staring a reload in the face. And now you're gonna give up the act. You're gonna give the players that you have in place. And the assets that you would have to replace them and that that's where I have the problem. Because the only way you're gonna be able to solve that that is to overspend in free agency where you can't do that. You just brought on a quarterback for the huge contract. So unless you're getting rid of big money contracts E. It's just not where you're going. You're gonna move on, probably from drill Casey and AJ Buddha. I'm here to talk about money in there. That's true. That's good point. That's going to be on your cap. We're gonna be gone, But that's I mean, again. You're talking about. Don't count your cap right now, right? That That's the things you know It's 00 sum. Nothing you'd have to move on from big money You have to move on from von Miller. You know on it precludes resigning. Justine Simmons. Yes, You're so right on the same page with you on that, But I I feel like that. There's always a way to work that out. Cat wise. I mean, we just watched the Chiefs did they basically brought in whoever that they wanted to have a lot of cash, and that cash makes things that the Broncos are not a cash heavy team. They're just not don't say that pork that's not true. If you're a multibillion dollar organization, you have poor that you have to have a liquid cash to do stuff like that. The Broncos have been without a naming rights deal for a few years. Now they couldn't get fans in the stands. This year, there's a covert You know? So you're a team that doesn't have as much cash on head guaranteed money has to be put in escrow. Two weeks after the deal aside, all of the guaranteed money has to be put into escrow. All of it. So you know if you're signing do you gotta have 40 $50 million liquid to be able to put, you know for justice seems to be able to put it into escrow. They're gonna want to do that. But you're I see your point. If you're already doing one of those deals if you're bringing in a Pretty big contract like ST John Watson's The Guaranteed Money's got to be in escrow so that that's the problem is just, you know, it's easier for some teams to depends on which the cap than it is for other Stan Kronke. Who is making it rain on you out there in l A. For some reason he won't You know, You don't want to spend as much around here in Denver, but he certainly wants to spend out there in l. A, um, You know it's doing this was doing ah, lot of cash on the front end for signing bonus stuff that you can use that first year to get out one of that cap stuff. You know, it helps you down line gives you flexibility..

"BK. Um, the reason I'm saying this is because all of these things Affect the Broncos. Well, here's the thing, too, with the Patriots because I just pulled up the salary cap space. We don't know exactly what the total caps gonna be. And we think it's going to between 1 75 and 18. Least Most people do at one player. Tell me that his agent told him it was gonna be 200 million. I was like you need to Check with your agent again because it's not going to be 200 million this year may next year cause the new TV deals, but they're trying to recoup some of their losses, so they're not gonna You know, blow up. The capped a huge number when they don't have to. There's gonna be some hard decisions made in a lot of places like Atlanta and New Orleans owns 85 million over the cap going into the year, even with Drew Brees retiring, But the Patriots is funny. You bring them up out there. $54 million taken spent their fourth right now in terms of Room, the Colts, especially Philip Rivers, walking away and taking this 25 million and it was, I believe a one year deal of the way. It was set up the culture second with a whole lot of talent on that roster, and they're gonna have to start paying people like Butler the linebacker, but they're 68 million Other cap. As of now on the Jags, we know have the most cap space and the number one pick. But I do think the Patriots will look to upgrade their quarterback situation. And maybe Dak Prescott is somebody that makes sense if he actually hits the market. Maybe that's the guy that Bill Belichick decides he likes. Of course, it'll be interesting is who's calling place for Bill Belichick? If Josh McDaniels ends up taking that job in Philly, I'm sure we'll find somebody but Well, this is gonna be an interesting what not to do on Houston. Well, I think Josh is just far enough down the road that he's I believe the yields top candidate. Uh as of now, I know this look, There's four teams are playing for the Super Bowl. And this is an exciting time of the year. But with the Broncos shaking it up a bit. And George Payton coming in, and now he's going to put his fingerprints on this team. To whatever degree I don't think he's reinventing the wheel. I don't think he's firing the whole scouting staff and personnel department and trying to blow up a coaching staff either. But you get fresh eyes and hear with, I think a pretty talented roster and some parts. So now a sudden, if you're one of these other 28 teams, I think that you have to be excited. If you're the Broncos in that group, about what this offseason is gonna look like special cause you're getting guys back healthy. You heard him say that Justine Simons. They're not in the habit of getting rid of young, talented players that they already have. So Justine Simmons will be back. And then the von Miller decision becomes, I think, as big as a quarterback, one and in some ways bigger, but this is an exciting office. He's not. I love these conversations, and until the Texans wise up and say No matter what shot Alison's not going anywhere we'll continue to talk about that is OK away Broncos inside of granite crystal being brought to you by Coloradans for responsible energy development. We appreciate it. BK Thanks, guys. I'll talk to you tomorrow question, Probably probably, by the way, if you around a little bit earlier, we have your chance to win..

"Hair's probably You're gonna have to give him a raise, right? He came back to you on a discounted deal. He's not gonna do that. Two years in a row. You're probably gonna have to pay him upwards of $9 million. Just looking at similar players who have recently signed for agent deals. It's going to be about nine million and that might even be conservative. And then Philip Lindsay. Is probably about Would you say the same prices Melvin Gordon, eight million Never take For argument's sake. Let's say Simmons is 15 million. Von is 11. Shelby Harris, nine and Lindsay, eight. That's what Let's say That's what it will cost to bring those guys back. If you bring in if you're going to save room for a friend for a veteran quarterback that has signed a second contract. Lucrative one like Dat Garoppolo, Matt Ryan. Went Matthew Stafford again, who you want is a relevant to this discussion. If you want a franchise one of these franchise quarterbacks or veteran quarterbacks issue and save franchise, because why're the other team's laying them go, But These veteran quarterbacks. You want to bring him one of these veteran quarterback? Right now that takes all of your cap space. So you can't sign Simmons. You can't sign Miller. You can't sign here. She can't Stein Lindsay. You can sign none of them. Okay, So now you're gonna have to create some room if you're George Payton. So Now you have to look at guys who were on the team that are making a significant amount of money that you could cut. Okay, so I'll probably this out. The way I see it, and then you guys can respond the way that you would do it. So I say, Matthew Stafford, that would be at the top of my list. If I'm George Payton. Okay, so Matthew Stafford takes up all my cap space. I want to bring back Justine Simons. And I at the moment, want to bring back von Miller? Hey, what for now? Say that the investigation going on with Parker Police doesn't lead to any charges or anything like that. Let's say it is what it is now. Little bit of a distraction. Not a great look. But it doesn't rise to the level of any criminality. Because if it does, then it may be an easy decision for the Broncos toe, let to sever ties. With von Miller. I think we can all agree. Justine Simons. Is the guy number one guy you bring back Other guys we made debate, but I think we're all on the same page that in in an ideal world, Justine Simmons will be back put the Denver Broncos Okay, so I'll say Justine Simons and von Miller. Don't. I would like Jobe Harris back, but I don't know that I can make the money work. And here's why So if I just bring back Simmons and Miller And set aside the money for one of these veteran quarterbacks. That is $16 million over the cap. That George paint would be Have Karine Jackson, who makes 10 Who would know who you would save 10 Million. If you cut Kareem Jackson. You would save 12 Million if you cut, General Casey. You save 11 Million if you cut a J boy, and you would save seven million if you come, Bryce Callahan. Looked into Juwan James, because that was a guy like Whoa. Just cut you want James. His dead cap number is actually higher than his actual cap number, so he not being cut. Hey. And we're not talking about trading were just talking about how now cutting you gotta eat whatever salary you gotta eat. But I look, I did the research, Jack cutting Kareem Jackson. Safety 10 cutting General Casey saved you, 12 cutting a J boy saves you 11 and cutting Bryce Callahan saves you seven. So what I'm gonna do is I'm going to set aside the money for Matthew Stafford. I'm going to bring back Justine Simons and von Miller. A first. That's first bring them back. Those are my two top priorities. I bring them back. That makes 26 million that I have to account for so I cut Kareem Jackson. Cut Kareem Jackson. I cut General Casey and I cut Bryce Callahan. I keep a J boy. That gives me about $3 million to spare. Then maybe I can look in other directions to try and free up some money to try and keep Shelby Herring. But the point of all of this is to say that if George Payton wants to go get a veteran quarterback there are going to be some guys that are gonna have to be cut. Because the Broncos won't have enough money to sign Justine Simons to keep von Miller to keep Shelby heirs to keep Phillip Lindsay to keep General Casey and cream Jackson They can't keep the band together if they want to bring in a veteran quarterback. So to make it easy, I says, side the money for Stafford. I bring back Simmons and von I cut cream Jackson, General Casey and Bryce Callahan and keep a J boy. And I pray that Patrick's entertained from Alabama is available to me when I am on the clock. Because that to me is the number one corner back and get him Param with AJ boy, eh? Give O. J. Moody a another shot as more of a slot corner. Maybe I.

"The station at K Away Colorado, Benjamin. Good evening. Good evening, sir. Was it a thick Thursday with two C's talking about milk shakes, right? Yeah. How they bring all the boys of the young? No, I'm talking about a vanilla milkshake. You go. I don't know. I have no idea. I wanted a multi. This is this is the family hour, So I was really talking about ice cream shop ease. That's two peas in a neon The end. You're over here trying to get trying to get suggestive. Never know I would never. I would not Edward's man. It's like you can't take him anywhere. I know Michael Germany is gonna join us here on a matter of moments. Nick Manning, Tampa Bay Trade. Trevor, second Brandon Cruz stall We're gonna hear from the Broncos GM. George Payton, also his former boss out there in Minnesota. Rick Spielman. He spoke today with the media. So my goodness, action packed show and and again the George Payton reaction still kind of coming in. Seems like still people pretty excited about to see a few people out there a little bit more cautious, You know, I mean, at this point, there's nothing in my opinion that I've heard or based on what he said is giving me any cause for alarm. Maybe you have heard different then. No, it would cause for alarm. There's somebody already be already doing hot. Take being hot, Take disagree with the higher guy. It. Xaus there? Yeah. Oh, my God. Like I'd love for the guy, though. I don't know have seen his office. Before you start shooting him down. I mean, my goodness. Like I don't know. I just don't understand people. I mean, I know I know what it is. You know how I take guy out there has to take the diametrically opposite position so that he can stir up people toe. Read the columns or click on the sound bites or whatever it is that they're you know they're doing because they gotta sell you shaving cream and soap over there. Mm. Men's men's health pills. So anyways, that Z That's something that kind of cross my teaching night. I tweeted out right before. You know, I mean, the people that are out there that are already basically setting up. The Broncos GM to fail. I mean, we'll see what he's like. Yeah, it's like we're like 36 hours into this thing, and people are like, Well, if he doesn't get matched Africa to Shawn Watson, Forget about it. It's not the right guy just wants it isn't happening. And that staffer that's the funniest thing in the world to me. That originated on this show as a joke, as like, you know, going down the hypothetical we listed all the quarterbacks, we're gonna be available. You know our potential to be available? You know, Jets, Chicago and you know, so we settled on Stafford because I was the biggest name and then, like, Ah, whole other media outlet in town has taken that and turn that into like subject matter for two months now. Even though it's not a real thing. Ever said, But this is where we're at, and I just Look, I don't not saying that we're always the voice of reason that kind of thing, But I'm just trying to encourage people to let this process play out a little bit. You know the way I mostly see what George pain in the opportunity he's gonna have coming up this year is gonna have an opportunity to have a bit of a redshirt year, right. He's gonna have an opportunity to get a little bit of the late land. Yeah, Nothing He does this year safe or he decides to not keep Justine Simmons get rid of von Miller. I mean, do the opposite of everything we think And he won't do the opposite of everything. Save him doing that He's more or less gets a pass this year. The record isn't gonna be reflected on him. I mean, what is the rock? What's the roster and what it's built right now is I know what it's going to be. I mean, you're gonna have a few pieces here and there, but you're not gonna appreciably turn over an entire roster in one year, right in the smart thing For general managers out there is usually did kind of red shirt themselves for a year, you know, kind of sit back and evaluate everything. But, you know, hot, take radio guy didn't want to hear that. So let's get on to the hotline and bring on a very talented rookie here for the Broncos. No longer a rookie. Actually, he isn't heading into his second year, and that is quarterback Michael Odra Media. Michael, You're always right. Edwards in Benjamin Albright, great to have you back on the program. Sorry, sir. I'm doing pretty good How you guys were doing pretty good couple weeks removed. Now, What is it? One of your lasting impressions of your first year in the NFL. Definitely sales roller coaster. You know, Jackson, looking back talking with you guys kind of Washington film. Definitely like see the growth over the season doesn't see a lot of things I can improve on some exciting ones next year. You know, issues. You look back over the course of this season that the team kind of didn't hit the wind marks that they wanted to hit. But did you did you hit any personal goals that you wanted to hit throughout the first season? Um, not really, actually, because I actually want to leave the year with a pick and I didn't happen, But I'd say, you know, over the last couple games, I got a little more consistent. Made some plays on the ball this season. So I'm really proud of myself for that. But if you wanna be more hungry and hunt for the ball more next year, But you guys did finish the season as a defense strong in turnovers. You had four turnovers. I got to imagine as a guy that you know, sees himself is an integral part of that defense. That means something right. That's right there that he did, and Uh huh. I think that it was, uh, I think in the last game, you know, making those two players involved important. I definitely wish we didn't like. Let that one slip your hand. But Any way I could make put my finger Prana game. There's a good news for me. Yeah. You know, you talked about not getting picked, but I think he had to do you have two of them that were called back to the penalties or whatever and mitigating circumstances elsewhere. That was those Tennessee and Pittsburgh If I'm not mistaken. Maybe the Jets. Yeah, No, I was actually one calls back 1 ft. Off my face Pittsburgh game and fast, I think And then I think another one got my hands Jets, so the other doesn't have missed opportunities out there. Don't you feel as though being in the position to make those plays on I know that you won't say this, So I'm going to say it for you because you're a professional football player. But being in position to make those plays is a good start. And it's something that you may be compelled off of, and and as this team looks to continue to grow, that is something that I least hope that you'll look back on and say why I did put myself in position. I just gotta come down with that next time. Right. It definitely is a good good start. And you know, as you can see, after the Pittsburgh name, like my opportunities were kind of limited on getting those things. That's all I'm saying. Like next year. The options are limited. You gotta make the most of it, and I'm definitely gonna be way more hungry when the ball's in the air next couple years. It was the toughest aspect of transition to the NFL. And who was the toughest receiver you had to cover this year. Um, definitely, um I would say I speed of the game, probably because I mean football still football, but At the next level. You know, guys a faster route so better and probably say, definitely say, Julio is the best I went again. So Yeah, I guess there's a little speed adjustment for me..

"But right now, I think this will get the benefit of the doubt because the team would be trending in the right direction. It specially If the defense looks good. What about Pat Shurmur about this? Are we? What does Let's say, let's say there's a quarterback competition and let's say Drew wins it. What does he have to do to cement himself as the franchise quarterback in the coming season versus the Broncos going to the draft or bringing the big name free agent? Yeah, He needs to take a big step up and we need to see something along the lines of what he did at the end of 2019 and what he did at the end of this year, Of course in 2019. He finished the season 64% completion percentage in his five games. He played his rookie season seven touchdown, three interceptions this year. The first four games of the or the final Four games of the season. Seven touchdowns, two interceptions for Drew. You need to do that, for for a consistent season 16 games long and then we're talking about, you know about 28 touchdown to about 10 interceptions if he could do that, and he's absolutely the guy, but if he's flirting around where he is now, guys, it's pretty obvious that the team would have to move on. Because this year there is no question that drew lock was not Good enough. You know, I've been very encouraged by Drew throughout his brand, but one of his supporters as well, Just like just like you guys happen, But no one can argue that Drew lock was good enough This year. It's about if you believe he can take that next step next year, So if he's anywhere close to where he was this year Then it's really obvious he's had all the time to develop, and he's just not that type of quarterback in the NFL. He's not a starter. But if you could take that next step in that next step is what we've seen flashes of in those four games. No, I think that's really well, said Zach Stevens with us last one here for you. Do you like the way the Broncos went about this process? And I mean we could take just sort of? You know an overview Now that it's it's through that we stopped, of course, figure out who the director of director of player personnel is gonna be. But The way they did it with with Vic Fangio in tow. You had the head coach in tow, helping out to that process. Yeah, the former GM, which is a little bit unique. That doesn't happen all the time you had on Lee up incoming guys. He didn't really interview any of the experience longstanding re treads at GM. So what did you think about the overall process and how they got to the decision of George Payton? You know what I really like The process that they had. My only one critique would be that they just could have interviewed more people, especially because you're not jumping on planes traveling out the cities to meet all of you guys. You're doing everything at least on first interviews via Zoom, so I would have liked to see that expand a little bit. Maybe talk to some of the more experienced guys that have that experience of being a general manager like you're talking about. But outside of that I really liked it. They got a good scope. They got the champ Kelly's of the world, the true up and comers. They got the really experienced guy with George Payton. And ultimately, I think this led to the right guy because not on Lee was he one of the hottest names this year with George Payton is one of the hottest GM candidates of the past few years, and he has been the picky one, not teams. He's been the picky one. And the Broncos were able to land and so really, I think this is a home run higher that provides stability and and like you said John Elway may not be with this organization in one year, Joe Well, it's very well likely won't be with this organization and one year from now, And who knows? Vic Fangio may not be with this team and one year from now, so they needed stability and George Payton and the guy Oh, I think he can last through a new owner coming in here Just because of how well regarded he is around this league, and that stability is something that this team desperately needs. Yeah, I totally agree real quick. You know, during his comments, you know, today I thought that it was interesting remark when he said we're gonna try and get drafted develop. That's gonna be our philosophy for building this roster. We're not going to be reckless in trying to build this roster basically tipping off that all that nonsense about the Shawn Watson and Matt Stafford was was absolute garbage. They're not gonna throw away. Picks trying to trying to do stuff like that. We finally retire. Those the those narratives. Unless people want to believe he's gonna fall of what he did with Sam Bradford and the Viking Sam Bradford like trading of first, but no, I mean, I I agree with you the easy fix and free agency. He made that very clear that that's not going to happen, especially this year on that quote right there with big news for Justine Simmons and his camp because just a week ago It really seemed like Justin was saying goodbye to the Denver media and the Denver community and thanking them for everything they've done. But now with this when your GM comes in, and it's a new GM that you get to negotiate with and this, GM said, number one priority is drafting and developing. You wouldn't think the first thing he would do it. Then go and let your one of your most successful draft picks walk. Really well, said Zach, keep crushing it really good article today on I encourage you guys to go check it out right now. The d m v r dot com What George Peyton's higher as the Broncos Next general manager means for the quarterback position. Appreciate the time, my friend Absolutely. Thanks for having me on in, fellas. Thank you Appreciate Zach Stephen C. A C. Stephens, The envy are on Twitter that stuff and like, I I think that it's fun Certainly, And we're gonna have some fun this offseason talking about all the possibilities, and that's one of the new GM really provides. You provide you possibilities, But in the end, I think the more logical Place that we can all land on is he's gonna watch and see how things develop this year, And after this year, he's gonna have an opportunity potential to go in a new direction with head coach new direction with coordinator new direction with quarterback and it seems like that makes the most logical sense released to me. I've tried to hint and leave breadcrumbs and everything else. We don't know what kind of players George Payton likes yet Just because we don't know we haven't seen it like, whereas we could kind of tell with John Elway over the years we find it started to get his archetypes. We don't know that yet, but what we do know is when, when you're coming into a job, how General managers tend to look at this, and if you go back and look successful, general managers tend not to make the splash you move the first season. Say to evaluate the roster of the talent stockpile the pic, so this thing is gonna be set up going forward and then year two, they go in, and that's where they have their finances, So I'm just trying to prep for everybody..

"Broncos country tonight, Ryan Edward suspension, All right, We gotta pull question up. I want to know Just how good is to Shawn Watson. Which quarterback here? Would you pearly currently put him in top five. 6 to 10 11 to 15. Or 16, or lower their actually votes for 16 Lower 1st 16 year lower. Please tell me that wasn't you? It wasn't me. I put him I When I did my list. I put him in sixth, So I had 6 to 10 in there when you're not winning. I'm not sure. You know there are an uneducated people about these air. Your follower. Better quarterbacks. These air your followers like 400 votes. Every tweeted yet you have retweeted. I saw you you were talking about They re re tweeted it. Let's be honest, It wouldn't last Tuesday. You don't know crap about life. It would have even gotten before 80. If you hadn't repeated. You already know that. What? He took my hand? Yes, exactly. Uh, let's have to the hotline and bring on our Kayla Broncos insider. Brandon Crystal brought to us by comrades for responsible energy development. Learned the facts and how oil and gas is benefiting Colorado. I'll call runs. Credit on order the crud dot or gleaning. Okay, how you doing? I'm good guys. Yeah, I just voted and I voted 6 to 10. But as I'm writing the list down I'm a have a hard time getting past five with watching here before I have ahead of them. My home's Rogers, right? No argument. I imagine at this point correct Russell Wilson and Josh Alan. And maybe not in that order. And then fifth. I'm open to ideas. If somebody wants to throw someone else and see whether I take them I had a watching. I mean, there isn't anybody see for me. It's it's top five. And I I think I'm gonna head of Josh Alan. So that's that's an easy one for me, Baby. One statistical category that dish on Watson is better than Ryan Tannehill in I'll Hang up and listen, I could you don't mean it. Do you really want me to that completion percentage carrying a team with less this year in a team? Carrying a team with less toe work with completion percent having the best running back in football yards quarterback rating because he had yards. That's um that's 70 more passes of the seas. Of course, he had more yards. You said that you will protect you. Like you said Name a category just named four. Okay, well Quarterback rating where Ryan Tannehill exceeds him does not. Q B R where he's our seven points. Higher Sack percentage raise half the sacristan today, the same touchdowns the same interceptions. Should be ours. A terrible stat. You know, it gets throw a name out there. That isn't there yet. Jack Prescott Heaven. No, don't know. I'm not going back out there. I got a mouth throughout you for next year. We may be saying Justin Herberts top five by next year might if he if he if he builds on 30 touchdowns, and it's what we just call it 30 to 40. I mean, it's hard to predict anyone's gonna go over 40. It's not name homes on on a year to year basis, but 30 to 40 seems realistic. At the same time, Baker had a great rookie year and then kind of regressed. And part of that was a new coach and all of that, and I'm not saying that Herbert will regress but There's more tape on him, right? So I definitely like what Herbert has. And it's been interesting listening to people talk about Would you take Herbert? Would you take Lawrence? Assuming Lawrence goes one to the Jags if you could be the coach of the Jags with coach of the Chargers? And the guard Dan Orlovsky. I heard a couple other and his gang of Jeremiah, who does Chargers games. They said they would all take Herbert because he is shown to be a proven commodity. And Lawrence is just all on potential. They're Rogers quietly have or did have the most quiet, 48 touchdown season we've ever seen. Nobody has two of the guys that 40. Nobody came with David. Five touchdowns Get 48 touchdowns this year. Yeah. I mean, I guess unless you had or we're playing against him or Davante Adams in fantasy. You probably didn't know she had 48. You knew that He was having a good year, right? Because they play enough national games. You see him throw Three or four touchdowns, seemingly every time they play, But when you look at it on paper like, Wow, he was too away from 50. I think that's it when you say it like that, right to away from 50, and I'm imagine if we went back and looked He probably put some on the money or something happened. Where he could have easily gotten a 15 would necessarily his fault. All right. So we we can have the fun with John Watson and go about round and round and ends. I'm gonna kick the hornet's nest, and I told him that she became glad you said that Because I opened the show with that. I said, This is all your fault. You realize that I do what I did was placed fact and in a reason that neurological space for people to discuss it, you laid out the framework of a trade. In public forum, So don't tell me there's like I had no idea that I was just listening graphics that they said they would least listen to the conversation. I had no and then everyone followed your lead then and Ian and Tom Palace Arrow or reporting now that he hasn't talked Oh, Texans Management on even though John MacLean, who's his plug into the Texas is anybody on the planet? Says. I've got a better chance of becoming the Texan's new head coach, then to Shawn Watson is being traded. I would certainly bet that if I was going into our favorite betting outs, right, but it's going to talk about until it It doesn't happen, right And that's that's really where it should be. And I prefaced the tweet by saying the Texans are trading shot, Watson. So I think John would make a heck of a head coach. I don't know why we didn't. Yeah, that's true. Knows football. The general, you know, he knows football did. He has the same name from Die hard? I mean, come on, like we played sort of, say it like, dude, fuck terrorists. Between taking down Hans Gruber Nakatomi Tower, and he's knocking down the towering Patriots dynasty of in a Christmas movie of all time. So listen and his brother, although Bruce Willis said, It's not a Christmas movie, but I did I all due respect to Bruce Willis. Hey, Bruce Willis. What would Bruce Willis nobody? McClane Bruce Willis know about this topic here really about Christmas movie. That's that's a fair point to all right. So okay, let's let's talk about this Broncos team for just a little bit because we're talking about what the GM will probably want to do when they get in here. It's a pretty big decisions to make on the current roster. Guys like von Miller, Justine Simmons, obviously a big decision there. Would you expect this GM You need to make a big splash. I'm not talking to someone wants. I'm talking just even what you're doing here. A big splash decision to, I don't know, sort of set the tone of what they're going to be for this organization that they're going to come in. And their this is their team now. I don't think so. And the reason why is they kind of have a three year to play with? Right? You have to have big Fangio and his staff is your coach. You still have John Elway. Lurking above you. And you're in the shadow of John Elway and his team for a year. Even though you have carte blanche, so to speak, if you wanna move on from Drew, lock or not. Figure out a new deal it to bring Von Miller back or whatever looks like you just pick up his option or signed Justine Simons to make him the highest paid safety in football. You could do all that You could also probably by some goodwill because von Miller's beloved in Broncos country and Clearly Justine Simons is as well right. He's been the most steady thing they've had on defense, even though they've had some really good players around him at various points with job involved in everything, but for three straight years, he's shown to be a Pro Bowl type player, and this year Are pro bowler and likely another all pro for the second straight year..

"Might even make these my two Justine Simons and Mon Miller like to two of the big ones, and you know why? Because With Justice Simmons first This is a guy. It's homegrown talent. You drafted him. You developed him. He is a budding star, one of the best safeties in the league. If not already, like like if you're not already on this path. He's there right now. He's done everything right for the community. He's done everything right in the locker room. He's Ah I mean, you could have done anything different. Really? With Justine Simons. I mean, it's perfection. The message to the fan base. We'll get to that. But the message to the rest of locker room you have to bring Justine Simmons back. You have to. You have to find because because that's what those guys see. Those guys see a guy that was it was everything this organization at absolutely asked for. And if you don't sign those guys It's this problem to the rest of the locker room. They they see that they're like, man. If that guy can't get re signed What the heck are we doing? Yeah, And that's not unenviable task, bringing in a new general manager to handle that the last year imagine didn't get it done. Last general manager John Elway. You there were gripes about his contract negotiations that he was too. Let's call it frugal, but we all know what we're talking about here. And you know, that was something that was noted not just by players and agents. But there was known around the league. You know, it was something that was stated pretty widely around the league and, you know, we talked about Criticizing John Elway and how some of them are are valid. Some of that's that's a valid criticism that John Elway's, uh, competitive nature bled into contract negotiations in areas where it shouldn't and he had always had to win the negotiation and and sometimes it cost you. You know it cost the Broncos in several aspects, and so if you want to criticize John away, that's a legitimate criticism that we can get into and talk about the people that are saying we carry water around here. The I think that a new general manager be tasked. This is not an enviable position because you've got to come in knowing what negotiations were last year. You got to figure out if you value this guy at that rate, which you should, but you know whether or not you do and then go from there and it's it's tough because you're gonna have to get that done. Decide whether or not to use the tag is negotiating leverage all without not having a personal relationship with this player. In an effort to try to get this negotiation. It's gonna be tough. It's an unenviable position for whoever takes that job in green. Next one is von Miller and reason I bring him up. It's not so much that they have to get a deal done with Von Miller fan base will be upset. Right. I think the locker room be upset if Von Miller didn't return. There are ramifications for deciding to move on for Von Miller, but I think it's more about the decision of what you're going to do there. If it's not von Miller. That's going to be starting opposite Briley chub. I'm okay. Having a conversation about Bradley Chub. And handing the torch to him. Inevitably, That's why you drafted him fifth overall and by the way you do have eventually decided to give him the fifth year option or start negotiating a contract. That is a conversation for later date. That's coming up. Okay, a lot of those conversations. That's right so That's it. That's it. That's the topic. But at least right now, you gotta know what you're doing Your pass rush, like like you got to know because there were times just look at the Raiders game. You weren't getting there now, Brother Chuck wasn't out there. But you weren't getting home. Right, Jerry, I think Jeremiah touches the fine forth outside linebacker, and we create a good third because a good third but not you know, Malik did admit, very admirable. Yeah. Begin for von Miller. Your hats off, but at the end, he's really a third rusher, not the At the primary guy, and we saw that. You know, he was getting mostly cleanup stuff from guys moving away from Bradley Chop Yes, on hats off Emily Previn. A great season. That's off to you for identifying he would much improved back in training camp. End of the day. I got flak for that, By the way, I remember that's why I'm making it a point to have it at home. Now. The At the end of the day. If you were starting the season with Malik readers, you're outside Russia. You're thin. That's right, and it's rush. And so that's what it is. You need to figure out. You know, you got a general manager again. Another unenviable position. Do I come back and do I? Pick up the team option or try to re negotiate down the number for the franchise player on the Denver Broncos and the guy who's been the face of the Broncos for a decade. A future Hall of Famer. I was just saying the massive decision is this. The guy I jettisoned? Is this the guy? Keep around Extend long term. Is this a guy? I picked up a job? How do I play this? And just think about is your new GM. You wanna make your first move? We didn't We didn't keep Von Miller weeks to do that. Yeah, You have a Tous point. If you got hired tomorrow, you got a month and a half to figure that out. And you your That's your one of your first decisions is the face of the franchise. The best team, maybe arguably the best defensive player ever to put on a Broncos. You've reformed Hall of Famer. And we're moving on. Maybe. I mean, you gotta do it again, You know, like like maybe they take into account what the fan base is gonna think about that. Maybe they don't. They take you to a couple that with locker room's gonna do, Maybe they don't. It's a pure business decision. But we could have a contract. We could have a contextual our conversation about what the ramifications of those things are beyond just a salary cap. It There are there are nuanced arguments on all sides of this, but in the end You as a new G. M. Maybe I have the emotional attachment to von Miller. That's one of the reasons why you were here is urine outside observation. All guy like you're coming in and trying to get fresh perspective. So the team has been losing And I think we could be all honest and say, Of course, we'd love to see Von Miller back here. We'd love to see him be a Bronco. Where is Von Miller? Being back out there on the field. The difference between this team begin championship team or not. And and sometimes you have to ask tough questions like that. You'd like to have him. And is that money that isn't worth $20 million? This? Is this that money First of all. Is that the person that's the difference? Second of all, is that money? The roadblock for me being able to acquire other talented would be yes, but two questions. I'm firmly in the camp of wanting von back. Do you think he's so I just wanna make sure cause sometimes people will throw that out there against the wall is so They don't necessarily want it back. I definitely want find Miller back. I think there are important things to the franchise, the fan base to the rest of locker room what he brings to this team and Absolutely. But that's a big one. And then finally is. What do you do with your top 10? Pick? What is that Top 10 pick strategy. Are you taking the best defensive player? Are you looking to grab a quarterback? Are you looking.

"Would suggest that the champ is probably like a said, gonna bring foals. Yeah, that would be your competition. And then if it doesn't work, you could walk away from both the end of the year. If Adam Peters were to come in That would probably be the worst case for lock. That would probably be depending on how Adam feels about this quarterback class. But that's really Adam Specialty. Where is with Peter with Kelly? It's really not Um with spy tech. Oh, I don't know. I honestly don't know the answer to that One eaters would probably the end of Lago. I would, I would. I would honestly suggest that Zach Wilson would probably be the preferred Just based on knowing what I know about Peter's. That would probably be the preferred guy. Okay, So Peter's Who's more of a college guy, their college scouting background? Of course, he'd be more interested potentially to reset their with a young quarterback. That would be his guy, right? Where is your talking about? Maura of a pro scouts there in Kelly. He might opt to run it back for a year and see how things go and get a get a little bit of a lay of the land more so than to do that, too, because he's got the relationship falls is there with the Bears right now is all that kind of stuff. Pulls has a previous relationship with Pat Shurmur dating back their time. Philadelphia s O Fools just makes the most sense out of all that for for that scenario, Okay. Next question here. Speaking of Justine Simons is we were talking about him. What are the chances? He re signs with this new GM. What about von Miller? What about Shelby Harris? So kind of asking about all three guys. Humans in the are a phase earlier, and that's obviously one of the big decisions they have to make right off the bat with Phillip Lindsay and Alexander Johnson and Tim Patrick. But yes, Justine Simons. That's probably the number one thing that has to be decided. Shelby Harris is in the mix there. And then yeah, von Miller some pretty massive decisions, and it comes back to something we were discussing before right. It's beginning to show just like there's Ah lot of people worried right off the bat on. Oh, my gosh, This new GM is gonna come in a completely different philosophy with the draft and sort of so forth. It's like Hey, listen. They've got some major decisions to make about their own roster before they even get there. Yeah, On gets the thing like you. You do need to go and check if like we talked about the R face, right, you gotta make who How And who are you gonna tender there? Because Who can you afford to lose? Who can you afford to keep it? Those prices? You know, who are you willing to let test the market and they go if they need to. Tim Patrick, unfortunately, probably falls in that original round tender. Category. Just based on the death that wide receivers chap, eh? So you probably tender Lindsay and Alexander Johnson a second round tenders. On. Then you start to look around at the other options that you got here. You know you do You need to figure out Shelby Harris. You're gonna be okay. Justine Simons. He's gonna get paid by somebody is gonna be here. I mean, it's homegrown. So there's a lot of pieces and a lot of parts that you need to look at before you even get to the draft function of this. And to be honest with you. A new general manager coming in probably isn't going to clean house on scouts and and down roster guys until after the draft because you've already started the momentum on this and this is a covert. You're on top of this, so you're probably going to trust in what you've already seen from internally from your guys over there. Let's say, Let's say it's Chambliss just hypothetically. Your guys in Chicago? You're gonna marry that up with the data that you know. From here in Denver and go from there, then you clean house after the draft. That's when the season starts for front office guys after draft and certainly you also have to believe the vic Fangio's voice in this matters Absolutely often times it isn't necessarily up to the head coach. But in this case, you're giving some power to the head coach to help select The next GM of this team, So I have to imagine that Vic Fangio was a guy pounding the table to keep justice. Seven. Justine Simons to stay in. Yeah, and and he will be well say he will be. Vic Fangio will be back pounding the table at the Justin definitely staying. I think as the new general manager, you have to come in and way. How you going to do this? Do you tag Justine Simmons again? Knowing that he may not play on it. He was really just it was willing and vocal about playing on the tag the first time, right? But second time might not necessarily be that case and officially maybe burned some bridges. That would suggest that if they tag him and don't reach a deal that just will never come back to Denver. I would suggest that that would be The way you need to think about this. Yeah, and the tag is Listen, Players have different feelings on the tag. Some players like a good pay me the gig because it was like watching. Yeah, I'll take two of those Thank you. And everybody else is like I hate this. You know, whatever, but you stand to make more money on it. If you get tagged twice and then get the big deal afterwards. You stand to make more money, but it could be stressful. I mean, you think about this, we're thinking about it in different terms. You're talking about a guy who's gonna feed his family for life. This is not the money that he's gonna make over the next six years. The term limit for these Opportunities for these players is not very long as we know. So, yeah, Another couple questions coming in about Justine Simons because it did seem a the end of his press conference today with the media is about 17 minutes long, and he got there A T and sort of thanking the media and, you know, seemingly as though he was headed out the door. I wouldn't read too much into that. Honestly read too much into that yet that I've been there for those conversations. I've been in the locker room with those conversations when they're thinking the media. Sometimes it does end up where they do leave, like, Remember when Chris Harris was thanks The media. We all knew we knew what was going on. So that was that was a genuine like that. This one is genuine, for sure, but understanding that there's still There's still things in motion that you know, Justin. They want him back like they really do want him back. Sure, changing things up with the GM like change a little bit there, But I think the overall direction and I keep wanting to emphasize that the overall direction with the organization is trying to do. That's why they're maintaining with Vic Fangio. That's why they're keeping things the patch. Shermer because there was a direction results haven't got there yet. But there's a culture thing that's happening that they do like the direction of and that's why they don't want to reset everything. If they're resetting everything, I throw it all up in the air. I say I don't I don't really know what's gonna happen here with Justine Simons. If it was John Elway stepping away completely and not being a part of this thing. It's tough to know they may you know, the next team comes in, says I don't view you as a top three safety in the league. At least I'm not gonna pay you like one and we're gonna move on. But I don't think that's gonna be the case because I think with John Elway and Vic Fangio staying here. That is going to Make the Broncos want to make that work out. The theme of running it back. Seems a bit defeated. If you're going to let your best player walk. Yeah, exactly right. I mean, in the end that that's just what it boils down to you to me, and I'll say, you know, we know a limited you know, a little bit from each side of the house on this from the Broncos, and from from Justin, I I think that they weren't that far apart last year. I know. I think the I think the team was a little over half a million per year light. Real close. Yeah..
