"Bought stuff from them before as well. Now, speaking to buying stuff. Justin a couple ago on the show was involved in a kickstarter program for the tick watch and you know it was kind of interesting to hear how you were. You were buying into this this technology and when they finally got to production, you get one and you got one we're pretty happy with it. Yeah. Yeah. So the tick watches a, it's a smart watch. It's it's it's GonNa take it was designed to really take on the Apple Watch. I think actually at the time they did it I don't think he even the Apple Watch. No, it was. It was out there. But yeah. So the first take watch came out it was okay. It was it was it did what it did, but it was slow. It was clunky was big. Then they came out with the tick watch to came out tick watch pro and the tick watch pro to, and so they've been successful as a company. They're still releasing new products and they're not doing kickstarter anymore they're full-fledged company now. They just recently announced the new tick watch pro three. GPS. When I heard about this, this would be my third watch that I purchased from them because I did purchase the tick watch to again it was a little bit clunky. But I did decide to go ahead and purchase the tick watch pro three GPS model. This one by far is going to be the best watch they've ever released because I've. I've already read the reviews on it from people that have gotten advanced models. This is the first watch on the market regardless of who makes it it's the first smartwatch on the market to use the new qualcomm snapdragon wear forty, one, hundred processor. This thing is lightning fast. It also has a seventy two hour active battery or a two week. To two week standby battery on the LCD screen. So you've got a great extended battery because mine right now, I can barely get twenty four hours out of it and I've got to charge it. You also have a lot more. Health and fitness tracking features. They do also come with some things like take calm or. I should say so if you're feeling stressed, you just hit the tick Zenit helps you calm down. Eve also. got like tick, tick a tick oxygen or something like that. Basically, it tells you your oxygen level fitness tracking things like that does run where a West however, they've taken their the WAIROA estimated their own. You can still run where OS APPS on it. So if I want to get Google messages but I want to get out look if I want to other things like that I can put that on my watch, but I also can use the tick watch features. And also it is faster like I said, and it's also sleeker. It's smaller it's thinner and it's more lightweight. So this goes for two ninety nine. And I did get it with a discount if you go to mob Voi-, Dot Com M., O. B.. Dot Com voi- dot Com. That's the maker of the tick watch. You can go there. You can get it if you're new user like if you never bought a Dick locher before fifteen percent off and also if you use the add onto chrome called honey now we've talked about honey in the past right honey is a an add on that tries all these extra coupon codes. If you use honey, you can also get an extra fifteen dollars off. So out the DOOR A. To nine thousand, nine watch after shipping and everything came to to fifty nine for me. That's not bad. Now, what if you're an apple user? Can you still tie this into your operating system and no actually you can't it's either going to be. You have to have an apple watch with an apple product you're going to have to have an android phone with watch I mean just one of the other, just the same as you can't have an apple watch paired with an android. But. I want to mention just a couple of numbers real quick hundred and fifty percent GP increase since the last model eighty-five CPU, and memory eighty-five percent CPU and memory increase and a twenty five percent power save over the previous model. So if you're into smart watches and you don't necessarily want to get the Samsung Galaxy, watch which I think is going for three ninety nine. Checkout Tick Watch T. I see watch and you can get a mob Voi- dot Com I don't think I'm pronouncing that right but it's.

NZ election: why voters chose 'health over wealth'

"Into mania in. New Zealand. Tonight. New Zealand has shown the Labor Party, its greatest support and at least fifty years. End For that. I only had two simple words. Thank you. Well that was prime, minister? I done this she celebrating her emphatic election victory last weekend. Now the significance of the Labor Party landslide. It's not just that it's seen as a reward for her decisive response to the COVID crisis. It means New Zealand now has its first single-party government in decades. So what does the mandate main for new? Zealand's economic landscape as it faces its worst recession in nearly a century. We'll deliver a progressive transformation across the ditch. What happens if New Zealand does not sort ad its economic challenges quickly. trans-tasman cousins could I become fouled state? All of the heart, which is executive director of the new. Zealand initiative and Josie. PAGARINI is the executive director of the Council for International Development both a based in Wellington all of Josie welcome to. Radio National. Hello Tom. JC How do you account for Cinderella Dunes emphatic victory. Well, I mean you've got to say the popularity is genuine people lover. She's like a superstar she goes into to shopping malls and gets mobbed but I think you'd say you'd have to say to that that election campaign was incredibly disciplined Labor wanted a covid election. They wanted election that was about who stopped US getting sick not who's going to get us back to work and they succeeded in getting that they also wanted election that was focused not on labor, not particularly on policy, but almost entirely on just cinder. So if you the completely unscientific focus. Group in the Texas, you'd ask a taxi driver who you voting for, and let's say I'm voting for just under the all of a juicy. He reflects the Conventional Wisdom Abacha in Dorado and that her aggressive handling off covered and not to mention her response to the mass shooting of Muslims in in Christchurch earlier last year the gun control measures she put in place all that explains Justin, Dryden's remarkable political popularity. She's also received widespread global price for being a stateswoman who's kept New Zealand you nodded even in the face of multiple crises, your not fanned. Why? Well. First of all, I would agree with our choice just as remarkably popular and. This scenes from her election campaign were quite telling wherever she turned up. They were hundreds of people around her celebrating her. My experience with taxi drivers though is a bit different, maybe different taxi companies are us. Last The last few times I had known taxi drivers They complained that their businesses stoned at the city's undying out that we are not recovering properly from the crisis. That business is simply not what it used to be an typically detect Texas. Of course when I'm flying from Wellington to Auckland, and have to get to the CD and you can see the traffic in the city, the city looks kind of dead. We've got a massive challenge ahead on the economy in these eland, and that's why I haven't really seen much from the government in general plans of how to revive the economy and how to get us out of they have effectively beaten the virus now twice. But they haven't actually given us any clear indication how they're going to lift us out of this because the protections for public debts for unemployment. From monetary policy, they actually scare me when you look at them many New Zealand business figures share all of skepticism is fair Point Jersey. Yes, it is because the election really did focus on cousin who it was absolutely about who stopped US getting sick and so it was actually really hard to get any coherent debate about what is the plan B if we don't get a vaccine next year, what is the retail kind? So it was all very vague that staff and. You're right. All of you got different taxi companies to me to probably but another thing I heard in Texas a lot was all well if it's between wealth and health, I'm GonNa pick health and just send a picked health. Well, of course, you know we know that that's a false dichotomy it's not health or wealth. If you country is unable to trade and you borders closed long-term, then you're not going to raise the revenue to be able to have decent hospitals. You're not going to get your school buildings. Renovated and so on, and you're not going to be getting elective surgery and people are actually going to get unhealthy. So but it was no one wanted to hear that town that was the thing. No one wanted to hear a debate about next year they just wanted to know that. Anti Cinde was gonNA look after and that was it. Yes we'll enjoys does mentioned the vaccine just interested in like most western leaders frankly, she's pretty policy on the likelihood of a vaccine in coming months but the question here is what if a readily available vaccine if it ever happens what if it's a long way off I mean for how long all of our the present measures sustainable I mean, how long can you zeal and cut itself off from the outside world? Well I think that is actually a political question not an economic run from an economic perspective I. Think it would be desirable to New Zealand to the words more quickly but can do the safely. We can still have proper border to ensure that when we opened up to the word again, we do this without importing the virus. But I think the government sticks to the precautionary principle at the moment, and that's a political decision because the public doesn't want the government do anything outspent opinion polls before election showing that more than seventy percent of New Zealanders what actually like to keep the borders Morris close and these are people who probably don't have any immediate travel plans or maybe don't have any family abroad. Heavily business to do abroad, and so for them life is quite pleasant as long as they also keep their jobson New Zealand's, and so they would rather electric continue the status quo until that vaccine arrive. So it is difficult for the government to go against this when the public is. So strongly in favor of just keeping the border shut as they are but at some stage will just have to a because some the economic consequences of this some prolonged isolation are going to be enormous Jesse is point. Absolutely, you could not get a discussion out during the election campaign about elimination versus suppression of the virus, and so it was it was almost impossible to talk about the plan. B. If the vaccine doesn't turn up which let's face it, it's unlikely tuneup and be available next year so. Realistically the from left or the right of the political spectrum. It was really hard to talk about how long do our border stay closed, and those of us myself included who were trying to say, you know look closing the borders as a six month policy not a two year policy. He can't possibly maintain a closed border and keep trade going even though we can still export milk powder and so on. But the ability for our businesses to connect with the world and so on for us to travel is just not feasible but whenever I said that I would get attacked on twitter and everywhere for being the head of a capitalist difficult. So you could not get a good debate going about this even though the w eight show for example was saying, Hey, you know strict lockdowns and we've had very strict lockdowns for lockdowns are not the best approach if you're doing a cost benefit analysis on either health or economic growth.

Loved Labours won: landslide in New Zealand

"This weekend New Zealand's Labour Party swept to a fairy-tale victory stunned. Prime Minister. Justin. The are dern beamed as a rapturous crowd applauded beginning her speech with a thankful molly reading. In. In tongue it Athena what? dern promised a big tent kind of administration. For every New Zealand has never been so important more than it has been now. We living in an increasingly polarized world a place where more and more people have lost the ability to see one. Another's point of view having come in for criticism during the campaign on failing to address housing shortages and poverty. She acknowledged there were difficulties ahead. Over the next three years. There is much to do. We will build back better from the covert crisis. Stronger. With an answer to the mini challenges New Zealand. Already faced. Challenges or no the scale of the win came as a surprise even to her supporters. The easiest way of describing is that it was unparalleled in modern history. I wonder why it had Austrailia and correspondent say the Labor Party which has just endured dance policy one, forty, nine percent of the and that was compared to nearly twenty seven percent for the main opposition, which is called the national policy, which is conservative that is the best result Labor's result for any policy since the fifties and it gives it a majority of seats in parliament, and that is the first time that any he's been. Able to govern on its own underneath. Zealand. System of proportional representation which has been in place since one, thousand, nine, hundred, sixty, they were winning in both provincial rural conservative strongholds, ondon rich city areas, and to give sense New Zealanders vote for both the preferred party and an MP on their ballots and labor top the preferred party votes in sixty eight of its seventy constituencies really astounding result for them and what was the the campaign like De Campaign was focused on pretty much only one subject which was the government's response to the coronavirus. It was really a referendum on how the government and I think in voters is particularly prime minister has responded to the virus that response was to shut down the borders, I to China, and then to the rest of the world and then to rally support. For, what was a very, very strict lockdown in New Zealand at the beginning of the pandemic and say, Bara brief surges pretty much. Succeeded I. Need Twenty Five people have died and that was really what the campaign focus on the fact that life has been able to return and roughly to normal people are eating out people cramming into restaurants and their normal numbers. Forty six thousand people watching rugby match against Australia, this weekend. So the campaign was very much focused on that response and the opposition kind of found it quite difficult. See Find Ground on which to oppose the government, and so the scale of that result then is just a reflection of how satisfied everyone has been with the response to the pandemic. That is the singular issue of its left remembering that before the pandemic hits. Labor a was looking the polls. The suggesting that Labor was on track to lose. This election would have been a one term government, which is not very common in New Zealand central a being. Overseas particularly, for the way that she responded to the Christ church terrorist attacks, they were much last year when these two mosques were attacked by a white supremacist and she was obviously hailed. The way she united New Zealand does after that and staunchly defended immigrants but adulation wasn't really reflected back at home until the pandemic has. So was this a vote for her or a vote for the Party and it's I think it's got to be with her and not a great deal to do with the Party and its policies. So it was a campaign that was thin on policy on both sides update from national and Labour but I think it was a set of referendum on the prime minister's response. To the coronavirus even historisches appointment submit that she's a very gifted communicator particularly in times of crisis and young people particularly look to her. She has a kind of unpretentious approachability that I think that a lot of Kiwis light and political analysts in New Zealand will say that it's very much a politics of personality though she wasn't always popular home as she was overseas. I, think that Kiwis do derive a kind of sense of pride from hug label standing as well. So in a way that has served her well at home. Speaking to damage he said that her brilliant lies in the way she plays into their sense of exceptionalism. In key, we always liked to think that set apart by more than their geography and they punch above that waits. But what about apart from the personality and crisis management and so on. What about sort of kitchen table politics? This is. Just. On the Labor government comes in for a lot of criticism because when she came to power in two thousand seventeen. Labor was making a lot of very lofty promises to do things like reduce child poverty it was going to end homelessness in New Zealand. It was going to build one hundred thousand affordable houses in ten years. Of generally make New Zealand to Faira Besser country and it's pretty much failed to deliver on every single one of those things. The Prime Minister's critics point out that almost counts of poverty and social inequality museum and actually heading quits. Houses are increasing at the moment in New Zealand increasing through the crisis. So this is a big big criticism of her detractors that she is a great at moving motivational speeches, but quite a poor Administra- certain hasn't actually got much done. So that might explain why this time around the world kind of such lofty promises it was rather more timid. But. She's still got a strong base of support is on the left who are GonNa be expecting her to do a lot more particularly now she's not in. She's she's not having to form a coalition particularly now that she can govern on her own and so to your mind the the big difference then between the first term and this coming second term is that she that Labour will be governing alone. Is the big difference with governing Elaine comes a lot more responsibility. There is still a chance that Labor form some kind of coalition with the Greens will they. They don't need. Them might be handy have degrees inside the government say they're not handling the sidelines said that could either be a formal coalition or a more informal arrangement in which the Greens folks with Labor early onset issues. So a much stronger position on a lot more pressure within this time around. But what about fulfilling all those promises in light of the economic situation? I mean new. Zealand certainly must have suffered economically from the pandemic if not quite so much as elsewhere in terms of the human cost, it is in a recession. Now the economy is going to contract by about six percent. This year unemployment is rising the wage subsidy that is coming off. So Wild New Zealand has done very well at keeping the virus out there going to be lots more questions about what that has caused it, and how it is going to drive a recovery how it's going to get out of that mess. The Prime Minister says that there is a plan for recovery which includes things like building lots of roads but to her pregnancy looks quite incremental. They out there in no big plans for tax reform for example of just third some income tax hikes. But only on the talk to percent of workers say theoretically might think that with such strong majority, they pressure more radical agenda but there are many people in New Zealand see that. So to be so popular, you've got to be fairly uncontroversial owner. Thank you very much for joining us. Thanks, Jason.

"Life short I'm your host Justin Long sorry about Downer note. Injury Sweetheart. But really uplifting because he gave us so much. and. Here's someone else who gives me a lot. Probably, some of you Christian Long Rather. I had to do a little bit of acrobatics to for that pivot. Impressive. Very impressive. It is strange though to miss someone that you've never met I've never met him and I feel like I. Miss Him. Well, I how important he was may I know my life growing up to to my? He entertained me so much that I miss I feel like, know why miss him the way you do and I knew him so briefly and not not well enough to miss him in that way but. This is very bragging but I I ran into his daughter. Months maybe a year after his death and just elda Zelda. Yeah. Very cool. So she she said that he had said Nice things about me really flattered. Me Yeah. I just love to his like you. I miss him. I loved him. I. Love was just brilliant. It's it's a very difficult thing. I think to be able to accomplish to vote that in strangers that I'd miss them and I'm really morning. Person You've never interacted with is like this I mean now. I know I, I never met Chadwick and I've I only heard the best things but nice things about him but I miss him as well. I'll miss him and you think about the the work of his that that the our world will miss will be deprived of it's. It's such A. It's impressive not in both cases that they left this legacy this Would a great gift they gave the world the and Robert. Cat. I can't wait to read that Book David Scuff wrote a book about Robin Williams that I is next up from me. I'm really looking forward to reading it because you'RE GONNA die in two, thousand, twenty, two. Post. It'll be impose pandemic read But Anyway, why are we talking about this a little bit of a Downer, but it shouldn't be a downer. Uplifting they're they're both. We were lucky to have them and they're both just really beautiful artists and and icons. Christian we're talking about how a friend of ours. Over uses that word a lot of people over that word that's become a it's like the new literally Oh. Yeah. So they'll be like, oh, so he basically said all of my. Other people. Follow me on. INSTAGRAM ICONS and. But and it's not true. Doesn't follow him There are I, cons, but you have to reserve that are point was that you have to reserve that word or else it loses its meaning that word has now been hijacked by popular culture, and now it's been diluted to the point where you can't describe share Nikon anymore because then people would be like, Oh, my all my friends Nikon to. My my friends share have a lot in common by the way that was an iconic thing to say how. So it was just well said, it was a decent. elegantly stated. I, am I know I Know but like. I think part of being an icon You obviously, you have to be significant. We're not the arbiters of who who isn't an icon, but I do know this. I know that all of our friend Keith's friends aren't icon right and here's another thing I know our guest today is an icon it's it's difficult argue against that. And and as well as a CO star. Of Robin Williams in one of his most iconic roles in the birdcage. Our guest today is icon Nathan Lane. is known for well the BIRDCAGE, but mouse hunts you lead with mousehunt. Really. Great movie. I would say he's most known for the producers introduce guys and dolls. Yeah. I'm hung up on some of these. Listening to the the Lion King of course, Yvo he voices the mirror cat named named. Don't I know it I know it I know it. I can hear him saying. Mon Mon.. Said Timon. Timon. Tim Known to Moan should ask him. Shit. Yes, he's a famous mirror cat. The most famous I would say and he he graced us with his presence today was cold I had met him once only briefly years ago at a reading of a play called the Nance which he did on Broadway and I did not do I don't remember why but. It was just such a fan of his and recast by. Nikon. Maybe. Maybe. Ben Platt took over our guest. Today is is I would say he's both a Sir and dame I would I think he qualifies. That's fair. Because we live in a time where genders fluid and his I would say most iconic one of his most iconic roles was when you call that character and the birdcage. He played drag Queen Drag Queen on the second of course you can say drag okay. Yes. We play Dragway Queen Yes Queen and. And we are Frankie's we should say I want to. Tell you what? He would drag queen of that movie and he I think it may be in the top five or ten most brilliant comedic performances. I've ever seen in a movie. It's it's amazing. Yeah. As much as we love Robin Williams as Brealey, like once Robin Williams let's face it. It's a once in a lifetime entertainer he is a Charlie Chaplin our time and. So it's so in order to steal any sort of the spotlight from Robin Williams, you know it's gotta be. That's a high bar. That is that is that is a big ask for performer and he's the funniest part of that movie. Is really funny and there's legends and that movie Nichols directed at Gene Hackman Diane. It's like Elaine may wrote it. It is. It's just such a masterfully done comedy and he he's the he's the. He's the reason these the funniest property so Back to twenty, twenty for a second Nathan is in penny-dreadful city of angels. Now on showtime where he plays a hardened la detective, this is very difficult to imagine, but he's so versatile as an actor that I'm sure he pulls that off. Yeah. I can see that especially having talked to him if I hadn't. You. Guys think about his prospects for playing a hardened detective in nineteen thirties. Twenty sounds cool. Anyway here this hopefully sounds cool as well to this interview with an interview. Does that sound like I'm giving it more critter view? It's an interview with the iconic. Lane. Dream sweetheart to. Do..

"Didn't have much patience. You don't WanNa. Get Parsley shaved. Part of that story, though is when you said I live five minutes away from I now. That's your fault. Well, let's talk about it all right. Could be a dream life good being. WHO! You're listening to. Life is short of your host Justin Long. Sweet. Shop. And with me as always is my brother Christian Zachary, who hasn't fully left the nest yet, either we move to a nest very close to the nest. Yes, Trish is right. The key part is I'm five minutes away I. got this House recently, so I can be closer to them to four indication like this for such a pandemic, the decision to move close to them was more general like they're getting older, and they'll need help, but who would have foreseen that they would would've needed. This kind of help. Soon happened like yeah, a couple of months after an pretty regular help and again like. We can't get too far into exists way too much to unpack with. Parents! I got to save it for therapy, but when she shamed me the Parsley. I also want to read this text. I got it reminded me of the sex that I got. This is a couple of weeks ago, she said. Are you coming home today? I was up at a place in Massachusetts. I said no tomorrow. Why sit are you? Are you growing parsley at your house outside where I could steal whenever I'm up at the lake I try to keep my phone where I don't want to be around as much so I just had gone to. This was six thirty five. She takes me that are you? Are you going Parsley Jim PM? Yeah Oh. Yeah should clarify that, so they're not fully insane. Parsley at six thirty in the morning. So? This is like six forty I got that at eight sixteen, I got an all caps and several exclamation marks question marks partially. Her. Christian road he has parsley. She goes wear exactly. It has to the left. Why are we talking about this strange family? This new arrangement that I'm living in I'm living in to that. This is sort of a a modern kind of family that we're s because back in the day I think the big advancement was the railroad right? That was the big advancement that. That sent families away average sort of caused families to relocate and move away. Yeah, because back in the day a couple of generations ago, that was unheard of to move away from your family. You sort of all stuck in the same area right? This wouldn't be. This is in a way. What we're living is more old fashioned. We're regressing to an earlier time. Yeah! It's modern in a way. It is still because it is a modern era, and it's a different way now to lift. Some. Even our own grandparents one set move to Florida, the other state in Rochester which is too far away to like really visit that frequently. But, we haven't done that. Why are we talking about our modern family? Well I'm glad you asked drummer of. Our guest today is on a show or was on a show called modern family. She didn't get fired. The show ended y'all. Is that what it made it something? That's how I felt. That's how I interpreted out. I think people know that, okay. Anyway our guest today interrupt your introduction well. It was going so well. I know it really was. Also I feel like. I. Don't want to reduce her to like modern family. She's also like an old friend and colleague and one of my oldest people that are somebody I worked with. What is her name? Okay? Well, it's dame. Julie Bowen our guest this Julie Bowen from Dame, but should be if there's any justice in that. What is she lacking? From be how why hasn't she been made a tape? Well? Maybe she's too salty. She assaulted Judi dench's salty and has A. Sailor's tongue thanks, can you see be like just because everyone probably thinks of her as dame, Judi, dench in this like. He's probably. Bet She's got like a bit I. Bet you meet her. It'd be like. Taint you detention games they. Did you hear what she just said Hey. Julie Bowen is a very important person in your life because you did. A show called Ed. Yes, with her where she played the female lead my first show. The. My People know this you don't have to tell them. You and I. Don't think people do know this because it was, we had a very loyal following, and if you're listening right now, and you did watch the show. You're probably somewhat incredulous like well. What do you mean of course I know that, but not many people watched it. But. Yeah, still to this day. The people who did watch it. It seemed to really love it and I love it because it like you said it was my first real professional dvd on that show just for a little more context. You played awkward high. School student and she was your teacher. Not that unlike villi allow and Mary Kay Letourneau Oh. I watched the Mary Human American Laterna story last which we really recommend everyone. It's a fascinating story. We've always been fascinated died. Which is very? Nice, but it's a fascinating story, yeah! Anyway, so you do not I was joking. You weren't awkward of school. Ager I would have been really flow type had. On the show yesterday, acquiesce to my because you were in love with her. And I actually did make advances on the show to her. That character did I professed my love and I did it through like Shakespearean text and stuff like joined a band and I played to her and stuff like that. It was a relief. Talk Out. I don't want to get into it, but it was just so fun to do and Julia was one of the. Key elements that made it so fun I just. She's the I just love being around her. She everyone did. So I selfishly, this was such a golden opportunity to see again. Catch up and I hope you are enjoy it. here it is. Let's get into why why not? Why on so here? It is catching up with my old friend Julie Bowen. Sweetheart to?.

Depression does it make me weird My parents actions and how they raise me going to affect my kids. I know I'm a complete stranger and you have no idea who I am. I may never have a chance to meet you or shake your hand or get a picture with you but I just have to say thank you. Your podcast is saved me. I don't feel so alone because even though there's about twenty years between us I feel like I have so much to relate with you and your guests. I have looked at my past differently. I tried to change the way I am. And my marriage how I parent my kids. I've been able to look at life a little differently knowing I'm not alone and I am not the only one that struggles with some of these issues am not a patron yet. Hopefully financial I can financially. I can get get it together and start giving back for what you've given me buddy you listen to the show and getting something from this is enough. Jason you're not alone you'll never be alone. That's mentality that you know. Sometimes people feel they're alone. And they just keep distancing themselves but you have to just be aware of those things and you know you're doing the best you can in in the way we were parented that you know you gotta break the break the cycle if you didn't if you weren't raised well by your parents. You have to be the man that you wanted to come and you can't blame. I have family members that We've all done it. We blame we blame our father or mother. Are this or are there relationship or break-up broke up with me. They ruined my life. Now you've got this. Is Your Life Your Life Man? That's it again. I'm not a therapist but it's pretty safe to say this is your life so you have to take responsibility for your actions. You have to make the necessary changes to make you the person you want to be the man you want to be. And that's what I believe and I'm fighting the do it every day. Don't think it's easy. I struggle at all the time. I doubt myself all the time and then I switch gears. I will not allow myself to keep doing this man. And let's go to these patrons here Areo Ma. I know him all. "Are surpassed whatever position. She was in life. I mean far more developed than she was a baby little. No I think like anything that you have are the results of your of what had happened. What happened to her in your own childhood? But God that's crazy sixteen sixteen and eighteen boy. I've got some stories weren't kidding you said you thought they. The fact that you weren't growing was due to their their drug intake. No no no. My my yeah. I'm sure my dad well on a real hippies but my my dad was like eighteen years old when he's you know I think he had me when he was nineteen twenties young. They're young. My Dad Sixty seven. My Mom's seventy two so there's still no no my mom's in third marriage because my dad was his her second. My Dad's divorced twice my sisters and our fourth marriage. My brother atoms only been married once so far my brother Eric. Never he'll never get married against. I have a half older brother. What do you call a biological brother? I guess half older sister and then I have two younger half sisters at my dad's previous family and mirror. It's always very fractured. Always dysfunctional always crazy. Nobody talks to anybody I can. I mean honestly. If you ever have your show I'll tell you all the shit. Oh I would love that some in this must be so therapeutic for you this is this is this is therapy and hopefully some people can go. Oh my God so what do you think of somebody who when you hear that I had? My parents are still together. They were loving sometimes sometimes to loving. Sometimes they're hangups. It's not perfect. But what do you think of when you hear that story fucking asshole stupid fucking now? I honestly go thank God. That's good that's good. That's nice that you had that you know and by the way I don't sit here and I'm not knocking my parents. I'm just the more I the more. I'm forgetting very forgiving. I'm like it's taken me a long time but the more you could say this is how was. They did the best they could. That's all they knew and assign excuse. It's how I feel like you weren't capable. You couldn't do it and that's that and what I got what I got and now I'm working on me and I have I've had success and I'm able to love and I am sure I'm very hard to let that go though to let i. It's your somebody I've always really liked liked. I like that spirit. That you have this gregarious you have Bingo parties for people and you want to bring people together and you have damage from your parents who through no fault of your own. Did this thing to you. I don't know I've just always rooting for you. You know I it well I mean look when you say my parents did to me. I don't I don't look at it that way. They were young and no no no. I think they did the best they could. And I think there was some good moments and there are some. You know you could always. I don't compare but you can say many people had it way worse. Many people have a way better. I'm just saying that all that matters. It doesn't what people try to tell you. Explain to you what you didn't have this. You've had a roof over your head as a child in your developmental stages you know you had didn't have because it's the way you are. It's the way you feel. It's the way you think it's the way you felt right and no one can tell you what they did when you didn't feel that way so you can forgive and you can do this but I've had many conversations with people's like why would you feel that way. You know if you say I hurt my. Let's say you're dating a girl. I've had a situation where Mike you said that I just want. You know that hurt my feelings when you said that. Why why would that hurt your feelings? That should never be the way they take that they should always say first of all. I'm sorry I did not mean hurt your feelings but can you explain to me what this is why. I think a lot of marriages get ruined because people are so sensitive and they get like they can't just say triggered triggers. Why can't you just say I remember saying things to people? Why or you. How can I have meant why would have meant? Then you get upset. And they didn't need that all they needed you to say was. I'm sorry you feel that way and I'm sorry I made you feel that way and that's not what I meant but you felt in it's real and I apologize and Natalie fucking what you should do. Yeah My I. It's it's I think it's so valuable to recognize your own triggers in your own limitations and I've been recognized Myo night I Yeah I think when. Somebody's illogical when somebody's not. The behavior is not making sense. It doesn't necessarily mean it's wrong and that was something that I I think I grew up thinking. If it's not logical it's it's wrong and when it comes to people's feelings in their triggers these things we're talking about necessarily always logical. I of very hard time with that So you can tell me who. This girl was our way well. It's one of one of probably three people could think of. I don't think so. No no no. Yeah Yeah Bullshit. Oh here we go actually should be quick Ashley. Tea Kettle Ashley t top Tier Shit. Talk do you still practice the five days of dodgeball? Do I still practice. Five days of dodgeball. I play dodgeball. And while over the five days again somebody sent me a that was like corona virus name. That was Dodged a whatever they aren't dot obstucted dodge and And they were like you. Should you should post this and I felt like I felt very strange about making light of it so I didn't but I That was the last time I remember hearing. Net dodged deduct got you know I so grateful to time gratitude. I'm grateful to have worked with some really good actors. Rip Torn was one of them. Hang on a second. What is he doing over there? What is he's running around. I heard that interviewer rip term was in a close up of his shot and he he just was like what the fuck is Justin Long Doing. What happened do that quickly? Oh no no he said yeah. I was really nervous around him. By the way you're listening. Rip Torn is one of the grades. Now I mean he's he was a Tennessee. Williams like favorite actors. He was in the the original sweet. British youth. Yeah this payday. A place I go waylon jennings tide country singer. Fucking great man he he. I was just such a big fan of his and So but he was a little Whatever this is not even a little ornery and So we were doing the scene where he threw the ranch at my head and she was forgetting his lines and he was looking around. And I and I've experienced this before I'm sure you have with with older actors and I pray to God. It doesn't happen to me but but I'm sure it will where you start forgetting your eyes. Forget the now but go ahead well and I'm just going to turn a letter and and one of two things can happen. Where either you you you take it upon yourself to you own it. You're like Shit. I'm forgetting my lines or you blame somebody else you know. I'm forgetting my lines because of this And so he I was doing my art camera. Or Him was his coverage and He's through like the proper Near me and I made it like it. Hit My face and I kind of I don't want to do too much. That WANNA be distracting in. He said he has got his and he looked at me. Said what are you doing? The dance neurology. God Damn Monkey. What is he doing and I I? I was at ad-libbing improvised so I was. Kinda tried to stay in it. A little bit and Is Dancing around a goddamn and I was so nervous I said afterwards I said I tried to apologize and I'm I'm really sorry Mr tournant he said. Let me tell you something son when you talk over. Another actor's lines it means they gotta go Luke Hope God damn thing and I said Oh I wasn't I wasn't talking talking talking and calling me a liar and I said no I. What what you say. She's I just back down. And that was a he he. I think he was just forgotten the lines but he was Sometimes you want somebody to blame Christian Bale. Now I'm fucking doing something. No do I fucking mess with what you're doing. You know I gotTa tell you. I don't totally blame Christian. Island Bell's talk too long. Here's what I would have done. If I flipped out I was having a bad day. Do Shop of faulk Right Right Lavalle. And then. That's it of course you wouldn't do that. Whatever twenty minutes of aggressive right and But I I don't totally totally blind. I know because from what I understand the guy was moving shit around battles in whatever. It's it's hard to defend that level of Iran us. He's an intense. He cares about his work. People go. He's still working all right. Let's we're going to do quick fire. Here Bom Pat. What moment would be in the blooper? Reel of your life but my life. Oh Man I think about that a lot. There's so many times things happen to be where I think I'd like to or not not necessarily to me or to the Meinrad. Thank God I would love to see that in the afterlife. You know that that movie defending your life. The Albert Brooks movie. I think about that movie a lot in it when when funny things happen I think that movie they they actually review moments of somebody's life. They get to rewind them and watch them back And I think I think about it a lot like kind of like if this if I could see if I could relive ten moments Got Off hand. I don't know I remember almost walking into traffic once I I I was talking about him. I was on a street corner in New York and it was talking about that and be Hamilton or the the play at it. Just come out and I. It was just nominated for budget. Tony's and I said to my friends Out Good for Lynn Minimum Reds really. What's his first thing? And it gets nominated properties Tony's and they said Oh no no. He did this way in the Heights. Then he's been nominated so he's already in a row so and I I. This is word for word I said. Oh so he's no stranger to the Tony seen it which is a crazy thing for me to sit for anyone to say weird and I of like I tend to drift around. I I like looking been looking at the sky and I kinda drifted into off the curb and a bus came. It was so close to hitting me like a speeding bus that I remember feeling my hair I kinda like floppy remember feeling like Like hair like hit. The button shirt didn't but it was so close to getting a friend of mine. Pulled me back in. They were doing and there. They were freaked out. I I didn't see how close it was hitting me but it was really.

"Progressive. I would say I guess all colleges like this. I don't know if mine was particularly sexual but it seemed that way. It seemed like in fact. I think it was because there was an article in Spin magazine. Since nineteen still exist spin magazine where journalists went undercover at Vassar college and they went undercover and post as a student in and basically chronicled. How sexual school water damage? But it's it's chronicle not written about the next year male emissions shot up by like two hundred percent. Are you serious based on that article? Yeah Yeah we're our mail applications anyway and they were trying to even out the female male ratio. Remember so it was By the time I got I think it was like sixty one percent emails. Still I think. Now it's more even. It had been an all female school so they were trying to get more which is probably how I got in was easier is right to get in your that sheer. That's pretty good. Sounds like an actor growth. That's very rare Mike. It is rare you know I think I I remember going into the kitchen. One night and looking at my parents would just tears is and going. This is your fault you did drugs. You always did drugs. My Dad's six five. My Mom's like five eight. I'm like why am I talking four foot or whatever and like crush me and like I remember. I wrestled and I was like fourteen. And Oh and the reason isley. Thirteen wins were because there was no light enough to resume. Yes I was. I wanted to play football so badly. And the coach pulled me aside at the end of this to training training. Camp Eh. He said you know we got a great wrestling squad and I was like well. That's GonNa be hard to do because I as you know. Wrestling season is the same as football season and his son. You're not gonNA play. You're not gonNA play on the. I know I'll be on the bench the bench but I'm sure you know God forbid someone gets injured and then I'll go ahead and said let me put it this way if the entire team God forbid is on a bus is not what everybody basically said if the whole team is on a bus and you happen to drive separately and something happens to the buzz. You're still not gonNA play. And it was already that heartbreaking. Yeah so he was but that's what he said. He goes wish wrestle any site. You'll probably be your own weight class. You'll be undefeated. Which is what happened to you and you you love you like wrestling. Didn't you some wrestling thing years ago? The staple center. I said it's funny. I like wrestling know. I something about it. I was like maybe like stressing. Maybe he started wrestling in highschool or no. I did for a week and I. It's hard it's funny. My friend just connected me with. I've been wanting to do yoga and my friends. Paul really great actor. He was on the show ball. Hazard was has been doing yoga connected. This trend does it and he's got his own happen. He's got a program it is named Dallas and so I was texting with this Guy Dallas Dallas page and. He told me to download. I don't know the wrestler Dallas page. I gave nothing to download. God yes I do yeah. He's I had no idea. It was the wrestler Diamond Dallas page. Of course I know who that is and I've been asking him really obnoxious because I'm so bad with as you now know seeing how I've set this up took me so long to do this. Really bad computers and technology and all that and I it was made me laugh that this time. I thought I was talking to late. This Yoga Gig. You know this guy who is sleek peace peace loving by Buddhists the Yoga Guide and I clicked on the thing and it was like issues Diamond Jealous Pages Yoga. Get ready for your you. Get ready to align your shock. It was expected. But it's a good program you know you just just watching like in reading about stuff and hearing some stories like I know you did. Obviously he did dodge belong. I some stories like you're kind of like a bomb always a goofball onset. I'm always like oh he's just trying to make everybody laughs. Center of attention Just keep myself busy. Because I'm bored and like I worked with. What am I good friends? Is John Heater? Napoleon dynamite he worked with the logic. But he's he's always like having fun he's always do awesome. Yeah Justin Long's pretty much all some I. Yeah he's always got so much energy or whatever do you. Do you feel like you were a kid who had add. We're all over the place where you I have. Add there's no doubt about it. Swirl do you not have that you think Yeah I definitely not thankfully happen did I was How much of that do you think was because you were little though and you were trying to get attention for yourself find your you know? I think it was just like I wanted something like Scott. I'm too small a not getting. I didn't get attention from my parents really. I was just like I need heroes to girls now girls on. I didn't get laid till I think it was eighteen now but I remember just always I guess when somebody told me I was funny and that changed my life and I was like okay. I gotta be funny on gotTa be somebody else so. I think that that's why always on set. I had a friend mine. Once you worked on on Smallville with me and he goes dude. I don't know how you do it him. What is your working fourteen hour days June? Learning these lines and stuff and here running around. You never go to your trailer. Just chill. Maybe you wouldn't be tired all the time if you just want to your trailer and just relaxed. I used to be like that. I I know exactly what you're talking about. I loved still do. I love being said. I love the energy of a sad god. How much do you miss that now? I've found the older I got I. I needed to go back to the trailer occasionally. I couldn't sustain a whole day that kind of energy of of being that win. Because you want to be fun you wanted to write. Yes I love. Having him on said the producers love this guy and he's good. You want anybody to lie. Get Melissa got this part of the fun from still. I've never been one of those actors that like I. The reason I do this is the craft and like I love it. I love every aspect of but one of my favorite parts of it is just the social aspects. Still I mean like it's the reason I got into it in high school after football didn't work out in wrestling and it's the reason I continue to love it. I love being around creative people and I love being around the camera. Department. I just. That's still such a huge in my perception of human factors always. You were like the life of when I started out in the early two thousands late nineties you. I would always share your name in that context. Certainly somebody who's funny but but the kind of like the Party Rosie O. Yeah you gotta be rosy in. There's always there's always I feel like a party at your house. Gina Philips I remember. It was like the for semi her. Your name was one of the first jobs. I did Gina and in the Nicky Eight. All these people that I always grow usually girls who were like a roses fast and he's always accurate. I remember being off at your house. Epicenter of you know it's weird. It's like I always felt that my family it's like this is what we're doing when I'm organizing a family event or I'm organizing tonight for instance tonight I'm having Bingo for thirty friends. Zoom everybody's everybody's mummy ten bucks and we have four games we do a regular Bingo. A why accent squares and I'll be like be four and I got a buddy whose leg steve four and we just had fun. Everybody gets a cocktail so I like people having fun and I used to say thought I'm tired of. I used to get so frustrated with myself. Why are you putting so much energy? Why do you give so much to so many people and they don't give back anything? It's like well then don't do it. And this you fucking like doing it dude. If it just party to do this stuff do it. Because you like it well so you you have to check in with yourself. Everyone's mind did. Just make sure that you're enjoying yourself and not just like Facilitating the joy of others. And I remember one time I My uncle said some at Disney released to treat my whole family to Disneyworld. When I was making real money on you know back in the day and I take twenty people and put them up. Vip guides and I used to film all and my uncle's like Mike. Why are you put the camera down actually just live live in the moment here and it Kinda like? It's not that upset me. I think it upset me because it was true. Like what am I doing out? Yeah I'm trying to create memories but this is a memory right now. It's funny Mike. What you asked me like. What's something upsetting that? I've read about my supper. I'm I I am now trying to like. I'm going over any trying to go through the rolodex of things that potentially could upset in in. I'm not letting anything but I do remember the sensation of being upset like being heard bended. Whatever and it's usually has to do with something that strikes accord something that may be as truthful. You find There's some you know this is ballot. It's valid hurtful criticism. That's usually the stuff that I Ida hard time accepting in I think. Now it's now I kind of welcome Bats like therapy. It's it's you know it's a reason why I'd like that kind of. I'm sure that moment with your uncle was like There's something there's very valuable in that. Yeah Hey do me a favor. Lower your head or can you. You're almost camp all you're fine their own man the second part of this interview. I really see your face man by thank God you still young. You look like he did when I saw you jeepers creepers which I really liked. I'm telling you all please. That was from Hollywood squares. There was a guy named Paul Lynn. And they used to go. Let's go to Paul and Paul. Why did the Queen dissolved members of parliament? Maybe she does magic tricks member him. WanNa talk show host. You think you'd ever do that. I I think it's easier for me to be hosted to be on the show which this is an example of Yeah like acilitator conversation. But I don't necessarily like having to carry a conversation. Yeah Yeah I would like to do that. I don't know if I've ever do it but I think whatever part of me enjoys that I get to scratch that itch by doing the guests. I don't think I don't have more of more anymore. Aspirations than that. I think you could do shit. Have my own you know. Yeah I think you could do anything you want these days. Honestly man like I think the best are the easiest thing for me was to find a routine like once I got into a routine was good but Those days where you just you know. You're you're striving for normal. So you're married. Lisa Wonderful Lady. Now do you. Is it hard during this where you can't you're always on top of other you like having somebody around Like having somebody around I love said like having somebody around as as though like you know like she just needs somebody around like What I do I do like having my wife around B. But she has her own office. I have my own office. We separate during the day. Come back together sometime in the evening. Have Live dinner so you know. It's it's nice but I got A. I got a knock before I go in office because that's like the rule does not horn. Is that why she watching porn in there? I don't think so because the the audio that I'm hearing is sounds like a business meeting but unless they're doing business meaning poor nowadays. I really know. Let me ask you quit. You shadow hunters ever. Do you ever miss it? I miss the fans I missed the cast and crew people up in Toronto and stuff like you know like seeing those people every day and stuff like that. There's days where you're like can we do something fun with my storyline. Can we do something different or can we can we? Can we get more indepth story on you know? I don't know I. I think the fans would agree to re with me. That luke the character Gerry never really got his do But then again. I always say this like it wasn't a Lou. Gehrig show it was about teenagers. Were crazy superpowers. He was just facilitating. So Hey man. People loved you. People loved you the why a novel you die by the why not. You know what I'm saying. How much do you miss acting how much she missed work? Because you know you're a big movie it too. I mean I miss all the time. I'm I think I'm I don't know I don't know how other actors feel about auditioning but I I love the process. I actually loved going in meeting people and saying stuff like you know. I don't know just just getting able to kind of work in a room in front of people I I liked that process. I Dunno I just. There's something about it that I I did. 'cause it's instant either instant like instant results you know whether you did a good job or you know whether it's not going any further that's true. Well look man I love. You WanNa keep coaches you to be a couple of minutes. The that's what I WANNA know. Motherfucker you can come back whenever you want to come back. What we're trying to do now is because we've had some repeats which we're always trying to get new people but like I have favorites. You're you're I I you know back in the day you haven't seen back in the day. He was great. He gained thirty pounds for the roll. Man I gained thirty pounds like three weeks ago. Almost like the first two weeks a quarantine. Ooh I picked up some weight. It was crazy but you still hot even when you get heavy. I'm a handsome big man a handsome big man I do. I love you as a thank you for joining me and I and I'll be talking to you. I I love that guy. That was great. All right now let's get into our main guest and remember will we'll talk to you after you wanNA stick around for the Altro if you get nothing better do you hang out with me but Let's get into this guy is dynamic. He's fun I almost got him to say a couple things but he he was pretty open and he's a good dude man. I really I liked him. I genuinely like him. This is Let's get inside of Justin Long. It's my pawn. You're listening to you inside of you with Michael Rose. Baugh inside of you with Michael. Rosenbaum was not recorded in front of a live studio audience. Poster I thought about bringing a poster in your future post threads do well no. Here's the movie purse time. We'll movie did you say the jerk time I know I know it was like it was such an embarrassment of embarrassment for so long. I never lied about it but I came close. I'm so shamed a good and I. It was as good as I oughta would be this banner right and it takes me so long first of all. Thank you for allowing me to be inside. You Justin a little nervous about being swayed are you inside of your. You're inside of me. By the end things can change apple. It's funny how you start. The first thing you see is the jerk poster. I've had this conversation with a lot of people. People will come in the house and then they see posters autographs. And you know they're like Odin Kirk was really cool about it. He was kind of fascinated by it. But guys like Dax our mutual friend DAX. He doesn't he never asks for autograph he doesn't understand it. He tries to get into my psychology winding need. That does that do for you. You need to. It is a strange thing for adults. I think. So you don't you don't get that When I was a kid I remember really wanting a guy got eric dickerson's autograph Trans Air Dickerson of football player. The Rams young back and and it was funny because he said he wrote God bless Eric Dickerson and I never really saw the comma. It was a black and white oto and downs blessed themselves as a kid. I just read it as God bless Eric. Dickerson are remember thinking like he's great sort of conceded edge that but night every night at night. It'd be going COUPLA Eric Dickerson. That was your prayer night. I just thought it went without saying I thought God had already blessed him. Obviously those great stills you know God given talent When I was a kid I was really into the on autographs. It's real yeah and and certainly now signing autographs Kid is such A. It's such a thing you know. It's the few times a tap but it doesn't really happen anymore now. It's everyone's got a camera on limited Justin you galaxy quest and your character was like seeking autographs and things. I don't I don't understand your character. I you know what I. This is very hypocritical. Because I now that I think about it I have. I have assigned Flamingo. Kid Poster. Matt Dillon Buddy. Got Matt Dillon. Decided and that was cool on school. I got Michael J. Fox to cyanide. Secret my successor so what? I'm talking about Yes somebody that I really admire. In autograph would would be cool. I think I completely reverse. You've changed your mind you know. Here's the thing with me. You got inside of me and rewired me. Well I'm just I don't know what it is but like especially with heroes that you grew up watching your when you meet them. It's like it's not like on every movie center every TV show but I worked with Salon and the people know this and I waited to the last day I knew that we are camaraderie. We had that goal and we had called me dot phase because I had the CGI. Dodson my failure. Look PIPPI longstocking. So I what was he like awesome? Jesse was and I love this by the way. 'cause you you have a show. Life is short. What's funny is I get it. I the the name of Haifa shore weeks ago showed. That's cool but I didn't know I didn't realize I didn't put it together with Justin Long. I'm an idiot. Live is just it is. It's simple it's what it is it's like people like. I thought it was really hard to name the.

"Behind the curtain for but but it was cool. It was really fun. It was cool. I was I was psyched to do. It felt like are you know superfan. You know it. It kind of came full circle for us. Do you like doing that stuff in general with Jenny like she's such a funny smart person. She seems like she obviously very fun. To be with Ya remarried but like is it fun to do that publicly. That kind of stuff. Yeah Yeah it is funny. We did a show. Yeah we did a radio show on Sirius for awhile which was which was fun You know it's interesting. It's like it's kind of everything they tell you. I don't know if you've worked with the girlfriend or I have a movies with. Yeah it's hard it's hard. Maybe maybe married as well. There's like a I. I don't know whatever it is it's it's Do you ever regret totally a million percent. It's like we also week. We also come to the table for better or for worse with different styles and skill sets that we know we should respect the other person. We should sort of defer exhibit example. And I'm probably GONNA get heat for even saying this She won't she's not gonNA okay like I'll more improv. Based on more improv based and she's more she's a writer she's more calculated more sort of Deliberate and sometimes that works great and sometimes it doesn't but then the moment that you know one of us might have a suggestion right like what about this job because like I I I got I got a war? It's like Oh hey you know you. Maybe you should went this way with things you know because I feel like any other actor or any other sort of colleague either I welcome it or internalize it and move on. It's fine but when you're married when you're married you can and do say you know we've got some stuff here We hosted a game show together. Oh God it was called. My partner knows best. The show ended up being a bit of a mess but But we funny I. It was funny idea married. Couple the newlywed game. Either double there. There's a physical component. But it kind of makes sense anyway but we hosted that and again. That's where that's a perfect example. Where like I would want to sort of you know I would interact with the contestants kind of be more like. Let's just she was like taking more. Here's kind of the head and sometimes we didn't need to do that by the way that was important. You know so. It's usually works hours. It's go with what you bring to. It'll look good in the Iraq to get there sometimes bumpy to get there. We're not like we're not the most. We have so much fun together. And she is the funniest person. I know It seems like it but we're not like this sort of like it's not like a well oiled machine. No no we always have little kinks and it's definitely like it it's a it's a bit of a Grind Line we love it. Janis carve this out all on our own. You know she. I met her thirteen whatever years ago as she was an actress like a lot of actresses in. La You know was having ups and downs. She's one of the funniest people I mean. I was struck by how funny she was her. Yeah but he was this girl who was trying to do very dark indie movies in length doing guest stars on the. Cbs is and the all these sort of procedural hours the you know the the the heroin heroin addicts the prisoner. Who's lost who's getting separated from her child and the big crying scene and all that stuff and then twitter came along and she started she took to twitter and started writing jokes basically used it as this platform to sort of show her authentic self which is very funny very And actually the bachelor played a huge role in that. Tweet the bachelor to one of our early sort of things that. I kind of got psyched on. And they would follow for the bachelor okay right and so when she would make these snarky comments about all the contests which you probably can't say today home but she just grew following massive uniform following and from that it was playboy was the first place. They asked her to write an article So she wrote this hilarious essay. Then she wrote more for them and then other publications marie-claire some other you know boss and then from the essays. She not had a collection of essays. She sold a book. Wow and so she then became your times bestseller and then she sold that back then she was kind of like. Yeah Fuck Hollywood. But then of course she like sold the rights back to Hollywood and Rocca because she still is sure how Hollywood and probably still enjoys acting as though it's still enjoys it when it's herself like so like her first book we sold to. Abc and didn't get picked up pilot but they gave us a deal. Her a deal to do It digitally so we did like ten episodes for ABC digital which kind of came and went it's called. I like Yeah I like you just the way I am. Oh Yeah and I played myself. Played herself but otherwise she doesn't really want to do acting anymore Although she does have a funny idea because she's if you've read either of her books you'll learn that she has a fascination with X.'s. Her Ex's yeah. My Ex is in fact I book. There's this whole crazy bit about her and this is all true. She became friends with my ex girlfriend behind my back. Unbeknownst to me I'd had this whole separate relationship with her just because she was like fascinated by her right. Well what you shared. Yeah she would like I like had like the ex had given me back stuff when we broke up and and then Jenny would like slowly give some of that stuff back to the national. Take your shoes back. I knew you gave him a Jason because you were upset at them like they're nice shoes. You're just weird shit dude and so anyway. It's all in the first book. It's fucking crazy with Jenny. You know this this. She's writing the stories before she even like. Kinda lives in a weird way. But it's all very organic. I mean Shit just happens to her but she's as it's happening she's knows how she's GonNa write the story. You know what I mean. Yes yes we've been in couples therapy since before. We were married married at nine months after we met. So Oh my they've really yesterday. Yeah it's been a lifesaver for the best fucking thing we've ever invested in. There are things. I'm sure that are just personal enough that you can be like. Please don't say that's how we got a yeah. I'd be afraid that something would be exposed. I don't want people to know that I like far when I get excited. I whatever it is Here's the thing I know you are very I will say I always know. I'm every once remember. Remember what we were looking at apartments in the city Janai and we ended up in this apartment on the lower east side. Beautiful Place beautiful windows. Great views big and like walking around and and the agent the sellers agent the seller is not there with the sellers agent was like indicate said something that no one else would have known but I was like is your client an actor and is your client. Whatever it was I was like is this. Justin Long's apartment and he was like. I don't know if I'm supposed to tell you but he smiled. Just enough is Justin and I went into your bathroom. And let's do. Yeah took a picture of me pretending to take a shit but the best was I I just got a text from you and I just said Hey I love your apartment or harp and then the photo was just you. I'm GonNa Toilet and I was like what it was the weirdest thing to get because I also sort of forgot that I knew it was on the market but I didn't associated with a thing the other people and so sure. That's that is my bathroom. That's my toilet. It was really. It was fun. Yeah so but yes. I've always been pretty open But but there are times especially now that we have kids. There's I will say by the way she she's usually protects their protects. Your with when it comes specifically to the kids but but it's also like do we want the kids knowing that about even wants. This is out there. They're able to the truth. Is Brothers already some shit you know and it's stuff you go you know like look The F- The first essay that you wrote for playboy was a story and this was Kinda got the whole momentum. Going was a story about how she hired a prostitute from me in Vegas for my birthday. Okay and the whole thing was insane and a comedy of errors ridiculous and it was writing itself as it was happening Not a single moment of it was sexy. Jenny is not that. Kinda girl at all. But it was like enough of a like. Whoa Jason Biggs gets a prostitute. His wife of one year get some prostate in Vegas. It was enough. They wouldn't Howard stern he wanted to talk about. Was Of course that so yeah came this thing. That actually helped your book and Bolt Launcher Bug and then got people into her writing and so forth. But you know at the time. There's no kids. There's no whatever you know I remember thinking like. Do I want this out? Do I with their parents to. I mean my parents Who writes a lot about her parents? but you know ultimately it was like you know it's such a good story and you're writing these other stories to not include this would be. I think it'd be. It'd be kind of a shame. Shame Greatest Story. It is exactly but of course how to deal with that for a little while. Still Still Kinda do right because it's like. Oh good free. I'm glad honey that your talents are being exposed now but like I'm being exposed exactly exactly but but because I'm not it would be different. I think if we were like swingers were if this was on the rag you know what I mean this is not some this literally and if you read the story if you hear it out of contact you might go down with.

"Justin. Long dreamed sweetheart did do and i'm here with my belt regular regular size brother. Thank you yeah. They're occasion where i see you. You know heavier than not a few pounds here or there. He definitely got the wrong person. Yeah i was both flattered that he was paying me such a positive complement but also insulted that he clearly had the wrong person. Ordinarily that would be a really. He meant it huge compliment. He was like it's amazing what you've accomplished by using all this weight. That's a very rare thing. I would think a positive insult doc. You are so nice. You're just so nice. You're you're not nearly the way you used to be. It's not really a compliment because now he was directed towards me. That's true in fact. I think it's probably just insulting because he didn't remember young used to go in there all the time. Not all the time rats drive. I just didn't i mean i'm willing linked to concede that. I never made much of an impact on that guy well. That's what i never understand about people who get insulted by you. Don't remember me you know yeah. I'm not insulted if he doesn't remember it. I was a little insulted that he went on and on about it after. I said it definitely wasn't that's just weird me. That's just weird yeah well. Oh speaking of mass weight loss yeah our guest. Today played a character on tv for seven years who lost a lot of weight and the character is <hes> schmidt girl and the actor our guest today his max greenfield max is one of the funniest one of my favorite people bowl and <hes> has been a friend ever since i did a few episodes of the show new girl which i did before it was on the air so my introduction to maxes axes comedic genius was just to see in person <hes> and if you know the show you know that max max please version of of a guy who was formerly overweight overweight very overweight. <hes> max plays schmidt on new girl and schmidt the character was an overweight kid in high school and college and they're several flashbacks to this over the course of the series <hes> christian. I weirdly enough no the actual person on whom schmidt the character was based. Jonah hill is a friend friend of ours and joan went to school with a guy named schmidt who <hes> was not much like the character smith he was never overweight and lost weight no nor was he nor did he have the kind of a more flamboyant. How would you describe schmidt that they kind of like <hes> like like nothing like the character no thinking maybe it's just the name safe yeah i think it's liz meriwether who created the show with friends with those guys as well and i think liz just named and i think it was as simple as that although schmidt whenever jona would talk about his friends schmidt <hes> i had heard about so many stories about him before i met him and he it was always like integral to these funny stories so maybe that's where i got it from. She was always hearing. Oh and then schmidt did this other thing in my classic schmidt it was he was talked about in matt in that vein. You know like a character in that group so you worked on new girl like you said and but you have a very good time on that show. Did you have much much fun well. You're gonna have to wait and find out for the interview yeah..

"Listening to short. I'm you're. It's not as short as i used to be. Host justin long drain sweetheart did do mhm clever. Thanks thanks <hes> you're still clever. You're always clever. I'm here with my supportive brother christian christian long. Do you ever <hes> <hes> play with the idea of doing sports in high school. <hes> yes i baseball i did i played baseball and basketball <hes> but i was never i was a late bloomer like you. You know i was i i hadn't gone through puberty until like sophomore year in high school and by that point. I was kind of puberty by that point. I was a little behind the ball in terms of you know being big enough to play and all that i certainly never considered wrestling <hes> nor or was i ever interested in professional wrestling. No i wasn't either and our guest. Today is a very famous pro wrestler. I'm still not i still not but but it was really interesting meeting yes. This is our first pro wrestler. We've ever had on the show i i i would say unless i'm forgetting the i ask fleet of yeah yeah we've been wanting to have more non actors and i know a lot of the feedback for the show has been that <hes> so this was exciting on that level too and just just to change up the show a little bit but yeah like you said i as i had so little knowledge of what this world was. It was interesting to talk to somebody who is like at the top of that world or guest is chris jericho and even though i know next to nothing about professional national wrestling i know that name famous he is. I know nothing about what he does really but i definitely know her. You know the name because it was a famous snow. I definitely know that name. There's a handful of wrestlers whose names i know like charles cogan john cena but the <hes> but roddy roddy piper yes right flare well part of it. Too is a lot of these guys crossover in some way. It was going to say that you know sorry about the rotten outs. Okay yeah the rock. I have never heard a bad word about at the rock. I haven't either by all counties just like the most most solid human being i met him. Briefly once we both went to an animated movie called planet fifty one <hes> and we did we did press together one day and he he was just the most charming but but to the point where you know it it it forces you to question like well what's really going on. How can anyone be that well. Maybe one day we'll have on the show but today we have an right right right charming person. Yes yes jericho interesting as a kid. We justin i and our brother damion as kids. We used to play a game called goumba the remember that of course i remember we would take pillows does these big pillows from our couch and stand on either end of our we cut our family room and say goumba and we'd run at each other kind of like sumo wrestling style and we would. We're just knock each other. I've seen people doing versions of that. Were there in those big puffy like translucent balloon soon fo- used to play goumba and i think that was the closest i connection to pro wrestling that i ever had to. You know why we call the goosebumps on. Remember <hes> <hes> no i. I just thought it was funny to say yeah. It is fun to say winter columba's in super mario brothers. That word was for some reason in our vernacular. Sometimes we used to like adopt these silly sounding words just because they were fun to say yeah <hes> <hes> so i was never into pro wrestling because i remember learning when i was a kid in school that it was fake right when i learned that i was like stupid stupid..

Do you might be cooler on like an apple cider like you don't have to go through that much post thing that you know that is crazy. I would never do that anymore. It's just a shitty. I don't think people who are mean like Blake overtly mean for no reason to two strangers and or anybody that's not. It's not cool. Behave like I think that not only not ed qualifies in my view from some that I would ever care about or so when I say cool. I'm like there's got to be a like a humane element yeah. That's true for them to be considered cool to me. It's like a humane. I don't find Enron like Harrison. Ford is hard part of the reason why I don't think he is cool because he does I mean I was in his characters great but he he seems like a fucking curmudgeon. Yeah also case in point. Someone like if Seattle Reeves was like a shitty like kind of like a Dick had steven seagal yeah. I wouldn't think he's cool. No good looking at in like a movie now but the fact that..

"Ship from wondering this is Justin Long and you are listening to life if a short sweetheart do and with always Christian long hello well we said at the same time wow so we should clarify verify the show a little bit was. I don't know that I described it. Also the more you say to describe the more you protest about why you why you subscribe. The playboy sounds like a law guiltier. That's that's true but it I I confirm that that is that show foursome. This reality show on the playboy channel was the sole reason the only thing we watched on it yeah absolutely now again that sound like I'm being defensive swear. I don't like nudity so this guy who asked this question in the self conscious nerdy way he had such self consciousness in his voice and that knows blow is it just indicates his awkwardness. Our guest today is perhaps the polar opposite of that Yeah Person Yeah so our guest today is Kevin Bacon who is got such an ease about him. I mean among other things but there's something so cool about him so naturally cool about him in insofar as he doesn't try at all and there's snuffing <hes> forced about yeah. Even when he came into the studio he was running late. If I'm running late which I often 'em for an appointment at sends me into like this apologetic tizzy I'm so sorry and like explaining and and he seemed genuinely apologetic about added but he was one or two lines of Ham Sarah's a lot of traffic. He's perfect. Apologies cool was cool. There's fared about it but you didn't indulge in. He's also a guy who so famous so well known. There's a game about how famous famous six degrees of Kevin Bacon and that whole game is about how you can connect any actor Kevin Bacon in six degrees basically so it's like giving examples like <hes>. How do you connect Kevin Bacon to Jeremy Renner Jeremy Renner? Can you do <hes> yeah okay so Jeremy Renner to the avengers two. Oh Jeremy Renner was in.

"Don't often like to categorize my friends. This person is happens to be this. This person is this religion. I just think of them as my friends, but for some reason last night, this came up, and it had occurred to me that I, I know an inference with quite a few lesbians. I don't know how that happened. I'm very happy about it. And so I was kind of listing a lot of the friends, I've made over the years who happen to be lesbians and Christian grew silent. For some reason I instinctively got a little jealous. So I said, well, I know lesbians too. I get defensive. And then you said, oh, really like who innocent, and then I thought, and then I thought more than Iraq. My rain long. Pause and I was like, I don't think I have any lesbian from well you started getting paranoid that, Mike, you. I know some of my ex girlfriends who have ended up dabbling in lesbians. That's right. This. I'm guessing after they dated you yell right after. That's, that's a different a different intro. Dream life. Good. Everyone. Welcome to life is short. I'm your host Justin long. Sweetheart. Do. And with me as always is my brother Christian long. Hello Christians, Zachary long. Do you like that? I don't love you giving away with Z stands house are Christians e long giving away what else could Z stand for that? I used to say Zeus Zeus. Yes. How era Ghent. Well, you think people, well, it would be aggregate of my parents are parent. Yeah. Yeah. And also really, I mean, I hate to say this misleading hey, well, no, no. This is the podcast. Now, I'm racking my brain to think of more or less means. I know but one more thing that I would defend myself on you, not only do you meet more people. But you went to a very liberal college dad's liberal school where that's right. People were out of the closet, and it was accepted because where we grow Christian. I grew up in, in the suburbs of Connecticut. It was quite a sterile, suburban and fairly conservative. I would say, I don't think anybody was out of the closet when I was in high school. So the reason we're talking about this. It's rather ten general, but I think it's I think it's there somewhere close some are close other than Justin long, and other Frendo lesbians is Larry David, and there's a very funny Kirby enthusiasm episode where it's all about. He loses favor with the lesbian community, and then he and he's originally proud of his standing lesbian. And then then he loses favor with them. And then he, he wins them back at the and that, of course, is a an episode that we've seen so many times. We're huge fans of our. Guest today is an integral part of that show. He is like the perfect foil for Larry David's comedic persona. So our guest is J B, smooth who plays Leon black on curb. And the thing with curb is that the first five years was so brilliant, and I remember in season six the first episode, the storyline was Larry and Cheryl were taking in this family of people who had lost their home from Hurricane Katrina. Yeah. My first thought was this feels a little gimmicky and not curb, like, and I was afraid of, of them spoiling the chemistry that the show had so brilliantly for five years. Yeah. So I remember being apprehensive about it. I remember thinking it's potentially offensive to lie. Yeah. You're gonna laugh at like a family from New Orleans, totally, like everything else on curb, it was.

And it happened to be her first play. We went out celebrating one night Christian as you know, my brother bought her her first shot shot of alcohol. Yeah. I ever. I don't know. Why were that surprise, this extremely classy? Yeah. But she's, she's not fourteen certainly not an old woman, but she is older than you. Yes. She's older than me and for her to not have ever had a show, and she and I should say, she's fun. She's not like some stuff, you know, who you think of an opera singer, she think of some Valkyrie, so fun. And I think me providing her with her first shot made her a bit more human and botched. And I think that classy world renowned respected, or that she has is maybe just a little dimmer now. So you're welcome world. And you welcome Rene. She was very appreciative. There was a funding. "Do you get self conscious about how you greet me they're very much Yeah. I thought? thought, well, there you just said, hi. And I look at also tell when yourself conscious, let's try one more time. Okay. I'm your host Justin long as always. I'm here with my brother Christian. Hey, what's up? Well knows it cool. Yeah. A whole different. I couldn't be bothered. I'll tell you who's not self conscious. Our guest today, Wolfgang park. And that sewing that I just read the lyrics to who let the dogs out with, with always reminds me of, of our guest gang. Puck not because of the wolf wolf wolf part. But because I just always assumed that puck is a huge bomb and fan. I do too. I, I assume he, he likes their whole catalogue, not just their big hit, you know. Well he likes he's into the besides to the besides you know that they've been banned since nineteen seventy seven I know it's crazy. I've also never heard you sound wider than than that says a lot. You were like really gleaming white. You know, you miss you weren't around for this. But this may have rivaled that moment, I met one of the migos. Migos, Miya me. Well there their ego. I met amigo one of the migos quavo. She was. So I mean these migos. He's amigo. Of course. He's cool. I can't even say. The name of we is, but he was really I felt felt pretty white around him, not as cool as the Bahaman though. What is your favorite Bahaman tune? I there's so many to choose, I hard for me to just pick one I like here. Kitty kitty. I also like did someone leave the hamster cage open? Another classic is. Oh, I forgot the poo bags for my doggy. You know, I think it's kind of sexist that I've been because they've been around so long gone through so many changes. I wonder if they will allow women into their group, they should. I hope they're listening but yeah, wolf gang that's always been a name that I had a hard time saying wolf us you still have a hard time now. You're not saying it right. Well, the animal the wolf wolf, you can't get that for some reason, you have a hard time getting the L in their a wolf the timber wolves wolves, you guys can't see this. But justin. So faces contorted when I can't say something I get a little spastic in the face. When I have a hard time formulating a sound of a word. You remember what you can say that time. You were sugar cookie. Yeah. Christian was chunk once and he couldn't say the sugar cookie sugar. He was a sugar cookie. That is a litmus test for all you listeners. If you're feeling drunk, that's how, you know, you're drunk, if you can't say sugar cookie, it's true articulately, it's the sugar cookie tests sugar cookie. Wolf. Gang puck. I think we should apologize to him for not giving him a more respectful production because he is a man, who is so deserving of. Yes. That's true respect. He everyone's respect because everyone likes food, everyone for everyone knows them. I think he is he the most famous chef in the world is one of the more everyone knows Wolfgang puck who's more ubiquitous chef than Wolfgang puck. Chef boy. I mean he's not a real chef though chef Julia child Wolfgang puck, especially now that he's branded himself the way he has. I think everyone knows them. And yeah, and we were so excited to meet him. He's our first non entertainer guests that we've had on the show. That's right. And we were just excited that he wanted to do it. We couldn't railed, his son, Byron who we have to shadow to Viron knew who I was, and I think, kind of confirm to his dad that he should be doing otherwise, I don't know that we would have gotten him. So thank you so much. And he showed up. He was wrestling, chef. I don't know what I dress like Bob. Dressing chef. But it is weird. He was dressed like a chef. It was also the middle of the day. Well, he might have been going to the restaurant. I don't wanna I didn't wanna pry, but I assume d- or maybe just always trust. It's like a chef all his chef pajamas like Batman..
