"For baseball commissioner rob Manfred just said he is not one hundred percent confident baseball will take place in twenty twenty well I know the owners are a hundred percent committed to getting baseball back on the field unfortunately I can't tell you that I'm a hundred percent certain that's going to happen what's changed in court the other day we're holding ground people are just angry that this is not no twenty twenty seven forty two in Norman harm to baseball gameday continues here on ESPN radio the ESPN app answers XM channel eighty dentist in Major League Baseball talk here in a little bit as Bob Costas is gonna join us in a few moments like this is like a nerd geek out moment for me Alyssa Lang like I grew up on broadcasters I grew up on bobcats is not only the sports broadcaster I mean used to host a late night show like after David Letterman and Conan o'brien back in the day on N. B. C. so I'm like a total Bob Costas stand here basically there's few times you can refer to someone as the goat and it actually really apply to who they are Bob Costas is a broadcasting go like he's one of the best of the best he's done it all so I'm right there with you when I saw that on our show run down I was like we get to talk to Bob Costas that's cool good job guys there's going to be tough but may I get to talk to Bob Costas yeah yeah well listen there's no one better to talk baseball with I would think that Bob because that's for sure and we we're not we're not limited certainly to just talk baseball with him because he can apply not really literally anything so it'll be fun to talk to Bob in a few minutes of stick around for that he'll join us at the top of the hour thanks to Justin Tinsley the undefeated for joining us a second ago as well so let's talk about hiring for a little bit because there's been a lot of conversations about the coalition and Kyree and Dwight those two guys have gotten a lot of the publicity right because there's been some of the back and forwards our buddy Kendrick Perkins went out and called out chi re and look I saw a perk yesterday on first take and he apologized for some of the stuff that he said about chi re not his position where he opposed chi retiree obviously did not want to come back because he felt that it would take away from the momentum of the calls right but I think that perch still much like Justin laid out for us you still need a strategy and there is not a strategy there but one person who does have a strategy who is part of this coracle coalition right that they're they're labeling it as is Avery Bradley of the Lakers and he's gone out unlike Dwight and chi read where he's laid it out for everyone he's basically said look my goal is to get the NBA it's partners the shoe and apparel companies and folks like that who make money off of the NBA make money off of us to invest in the African American community and honestly Alyssa that's not an unfair asked by anyone in this situation yeah it's certainly not it's it's certainly been interesting as someone who has really tried to sit back and observe and listen over the last couple of weeks and it's been interesting to watch this back and forth in the NBA but I think a very broad please I mean he's certainly it in line asking for something like this I mean you look at leagues whether it's the NBA the NFL college football and these are stories and these are things we've been hearing from these guys for a long time wanting to feel supported wanted to feel wanting to feel equal knowing that they're the ones putting the product on the court on the field whatever it is they're they're certainly justify more than justify they've been justified in wanting a that support whether it's financial emotional whatever it is you know I hope that it's a situation that when they come to this agreement or they come up with a strategy that it does involve playing and that's from somebody who knows that there will be more eyes on them when basketball comes back people are star for people are so excited to see them back now I can't speak for them I certainly can't tell them what to do I just know that I know that when I'm able to watch these guys and they're giving halftime interviews postgame interviews or they're able to display things on a Jersey or take a knee for the national anthem those are things that resonate with people and it's it's there it's you're able to see it it's more than just being on Twitter again if if curry feels that going a different direction is is better for him and then I'll listen to that too and I'm I'm more than happy to see where that takes us I just hope that you know the things that Avery Bradley are pitching will actually come to fruition as well because like we said I mean it's it's more than justified for them to be asking for them no question about it and I think that there needs to be some pressure on the orders in the NBA look Adam silver is a collaborator when it comes to being a commissioner it he's the most player friendly commissioner maybe in the history of sports and and look he's built up a lot of equity with these players going back to his initials first season where the whole Donald sterling situation came up right and he removed Donald sterling as the owner of the Los Angeles Clippers when guys were considering boycotting a game not just the clippers but even the warriors were on the other side we're also in a position to potentially boycotting games so he's built up a lot of equity amongst the players of the rank and file the superstars alike but I think that the pressure needs to be on the ownership a little bit when it comes to Avery Bradley's position and I'm with him on this and of course the apparel companies but in in light of all that I saw yesterday I saw the Miami Heat made what I thought was the strongest place here when it comes to an ownership group or a team kind of backing social justice their pledge to promote equality and social justice included a number of different financial contributions to organizations working to rid the world of racial inequality they did this video with all their executives including their their governor board of governors there team owners and if you look at it there's a lot of different executives there from all different backgrounds and whites and blacks and Hispanics and they were all in this video pledging to promote all of this it which included more support and education initiatives in the black community and invest in scholarship and.

"I've got bend my cell is here who is co hosting with me and Kerry caissons absence was Ellie Hanson former NFL players here Justin Tinsley is on the line he's with the undefeated culture and sports writer and we had a team a Lou on the line from the Czech Republic were waiting to see if you can get back on the line it's a long distance and we're talking to him about what he suffered at the it just it it's really an thinkable when you're trying to play sports and a coach calls you out for your music trying to associate it you know I mean one of my coaches is one of the biggest villains in Canada his name's Graham James not sure if anyone's really heard about him in this country but in Canada he was convicted of abusing hockey player specifically serin flurry who played for the Calgary flames Sheldon Kennedy who also had a career a lot of players he abused die he coached me thankfully at the time I didn't know anything about it and I don't know any of my teammates whether they were abused by him to read about it and he's been in prison and I think he's out now it's really frustrating when someone in and brings back to Colin Kaepernick who you represent band when you're just trying to do a job and all of these other issues come in the way of doing what you love and that's the thing when you're trying to do the job when you excel in the job and then people stereo type you and give you these labels that are so and justified in just code words for the underlying racism that's taking place I mean at the end of the day Akeem is called difficult being told that he has a bad reputation and despite the fact that statistically if you put them side by side to any of these players in the AJHL which is like the triple way of hockey he's on path to be earning millions of dollars a year but each year he gets passed over saying he's got a bad reputation he's not a leader and those are just key words for he's a black hockey player and we need to be honest with what with what they're trying to say and then it's like leadership the ultimate leader is the Colin Kaepernick the ultimate leader is the it came the person who sees the injustice and and because it out you know and and pivoting to Colin that's what Colin did from bringing attention to racial injustice to systemic oppression and even to the issues that support his fellow players like in the recent C. B. A. in the collective bargaining agreement bringing issues to these waivers and these liability waivers and him saying I'm not going to sign a liability waiver that waves my rights and the NFL saying why every player signs away their rights no they don't this is now become a central and pivotal issue and the twenty twenty one C. B. A. issue precisely because Colin once again sacrificed himself for he could have shown up signed away his rights given at all to the league but he said no I'm not signing that and as a result a lot of players again a benefit and not sign away their right now and that's what true leadership is and so these labels bad reputation poor leader you know it's it's just a bunch of B. S. I want to talk to who is Ellie about this you been in dressing rooms your whole life sports life was there ever any pressure on you did you feel like the guys were talking and saying oh you got a fit in line you can to be a whistleblower you shouldn't do this or words their support because I know it divides the dressing room how was your experience I was lucky enough to be on great teams and great leaders Brian Dawkins John Donovan McNab Westbrook those guys they then could the that they're really really good leaders what I was together as a team everybody why tied together everybody will with had each other's back so I mean you had asked by other other athletes but but in my experience I mean we we were we were tight knit everybody was a get the black white really well together in a locker room I mean early in my career up to the forty Niners we went to fourteen I didn't have any that many great leaders on the team and I play with Jeff Garcia there to our own kind to sell he led by example you know I was a T. L. lead by example but on a when I got to the eagles man everybody was tight knit I mean we are taught talk to the group he for calling camper neck is yes it is before four what do you think would happen obviously want to be in the same experience if it was in in my locker room yeah I think we would Rhoda we would they would have his back well here's the thing that they would have a benefit for for to a certain extent like we've had is back for sure I think the Collins locker room had his back he was voted with the award of basically being the best teammate on the team whatever there's an award that is given in the locker room he got the award for being you know the biggest leader of the team unanimously it's the ownership it's believed that was trying to call I've been hi Jack and and the the the the president of the United States who is trying to co opt the message who now want to erase his name but to the players he's a hero and and I and they loved him yeah I like until eleven twos and specially when you talk about you know the CBA the deal the collective bargaining agreements what we're talking about and when you talk about it waiver why should a player be waving his rights to injury compensation it's a very very rough game you know is L. you played a long time basketball's rough it's well and you're thinking how much power can the owners put over the players I mean if they come to you and you know they say oh you they want you to play seventeen eighteen games instead of a sixteen game schedule whose Allia I mean your body takes a beating I would say I would say do you want to guarantee my contract that's what I that's what I say it again team these contracts I mean it's ridiculous you're playing UT year you can get hurt a on any play you have families kids take care of this is not it's just not fair I mean is is is not American is is not fair and what it's been your experience in this regard after talking to players and and understanding what they're facing a jailer decided the fact that the NFL of all sports doesn't have guarantee contracting is the most violent sport there is like when I talk to players on and off the record you know that's what that's what they want they may just want to be paying with their work and you I can only imagine how gut wrenching how scary it is to no more than that you're always a play away from your career in being in there and your play away from your career ending in that in some cases I've been able to support your family well that has to be what do you guys think I just got to take the other side for a second because we got to take a break in two minutes but I want to know what you guys think of the general feeling in the population that when a player doesn't put up signs a big contract time I mean huge Minnesota Vikings fan Kirk cousins signs an eighty four million dollar contract and I'm I'm on the sites all the time everyone saying you know he's not worth it it's guaranteed you know he's a guy cousins is a guy who I think is really putting in the effort is bad example of that but there are some players that may be get the guaranteed contract and don't produce this player is another a guarantee contract to and I was raised as part of sports I mean it may not allies fought the it might not be at fault for not producing maybe don't have enough people around maybe than is nag then I run a right place for him I don't you know it's it's it's more to it the owners have skill then they should be able to see the see through that they got to make the right investments if they want to make the big Bucks you know that's what they got to do you know they wanted they want to game the system they want a salary cap they won and manipulate the market place and and and they don't want guaranteed contracts you know band I'm smiling at that because you and I as lawyers we know that so well I make decisions every day of my life that impact my clients and sometimes they were the wrong decisions well guess what I don't have a safety net if I screw up on my decision and it affects my client then who's to blame I am I take responsibility I made that decision for better for worse exactly and and if you're a billionaire owner I think you have more leeway to make that mistake because well yeah Hey Justin you sound like you're chomping at the bit there no no I I just make bad guys all the time the best not just you know old simulated N. F. L. Y. yet this ocular got a win over right now look at any company not to talk to so many you know what everybody here great higher level like now I messed up on that I mean look at my one of my best friends Chicago Bears band in every every week he always tells me we directly to basically over back to my home yeah would you give someone a contract you know that yes as you make why not protective we got to take a quick break we want to talk a little bit about the Astros scandal moving away from football after the break you listen to Kerry's law right here on talk radio seven ID.

It's era of of a protest of this this entire era of n._f._l. But it was really about trying to win back a segment of the n._f._l. I don't know how this is going to reflect in viewership. I don't know how it's gonna reflect in sales but this is this. This is gonna be a fascinating point for the n._f._l. Because while they think they've loop pass this era i don't. I don't know how the n._f._l. Actually move pass it because at this point colin colin kaepernick is who he is. He's he's never. I'm like you i ever since that whole collusion case came up. That's never going to get back in the league and and if i've ever wanted it to be wrong about anything what couple of days i've wanted to be wrong about this. This is definitely high on the totem pole. I would love to see him backing league. I would love to see them having another chance to play but just the fact of the matter is i don't think that's ever going to happen but even even if a lot of people feel that way he still in their hearts he still in their minds and they a a lotta people will not be able to get past that essentially because of this partnership not i. "Sit down show indicate that steve kirk morrison in for georgia on vacation this week. Maybe on vacation next week as well. I'm not sure george been out for a while. Mike trudell is going to be joining kirk ni- at four o'clock got a lot of good guests today. Justin tinsley from the undefeated is gonna join us at four forty forty talk about his piece of with regards to the partnership between jay z and the n._f._l. But does not get any less controversial herk as the days pass. There's now a new week in everyone's still talking about this is jay z and the n._f._l. But thinking about it no one's mentioned beyond say at all. I think this is the first time we have not mentioned beyond say 'cause like it was when you jay z. Beyond say right oh actually you may get bay before you get. I think you do yeah you get baby. Why here's where we learned that the lemonade album lemonade on a few levels not just the sales but the dynamics that were killed in that relationship because that's one of the only times we've ever seen jay easy. Yes ma'am even like everybody who watched a net flicks special with her and what she did down at coachella yeah you zhou jay. She is in charge of that relationship and so it's it's funny that you know. We've been talking jay z. since the n._f._l. Announced that jay z and the n._f._l. N._f._l. would now merge and we'll be partners. <hes> we just have not heard beyond seasoning and i noticed at some point she will be part of this because she will be on the arm of jay easy but it is very interesting just to see where this thing is kinda going and i think it's still so many unknowns that no matter what in the beginning right now we're still just saying what is going on. This is why i can't believe this. Let's let it play out. I you know everybody wants to run to their mentions and and go to twitter but let's see what this thing does i well. We're gonna end up talking about that again with justin tinsley at four forty from the undefeated talk about a lot during the show also five fifty five alan sleep of our very own lakers talk. It'll be joining us. Six six. Thirty yamoussoukro covers the lakers for e._s._p._n. And the big story right now with the lakers is <hes> the permission granted by the memphis grizzlies please to meet with these soon to be waived dwight howard <hes> dwight howard is looking for a new job. It's it's all but assumed that the grizzlies are eventually actually going to waive dwight. He oh was acquired in a deal. This off season with the wizards and the lakers are the first team to the best of my knowledge that have gotten permission to speak with dwight white. You may have heard kirk white played with the lakers for one season right did not end on a positive note <hes> didn't he walk away at the alter..

"Surprising Friday night, news, dump piece of information as we learn via joint statement from Colin kaepernick's, lawyers, and the NFL that they've come to an agreement concerning capital, and Eric Reid's collusion lawsuit. And we won't get any details on it at least on this get leaked because there is a confidentiality agreement that in that goes in kind with this being settled, and over of course, the conversation surrounding it is not over Spain and Fitz on ESPN radio, the espionage and Sirius XM channel eighty Sarah Spain and Jason Gough Gough filling in for fits, let's out to the shell Pennzoil performance on Wor sports and cultural reporter with the undefeated, Justin Tinsley joins us. I'm sure you've got a lot to say, Justin. So let's just start with what do you find most interesting about this? Well, you know, first and foremost, I thank y'all for, you know, allow your show tonight. I think what's most interesting to me is the fact that it's the actual plea deal. I think anyone who's followed this case or the situation for however long it's been going on the I think you at some point you kind of figured it would it would amount to this. But the fact that you know, I it amounted to it on on a Friday on all star weekend kind of felt like it was up dude agreement, but it just it just feels like at this point where. They the NFL to a deal as where they do. They could never actually win this case. Because right. I if you if you follow this case, I don't think anybody I can't speak for anyone else. But for myself in particular, you can't feel like you thought the NFL would actually win this case because the the argument against him just vote way to agree. Just you can follow just intensely on Twitter. He's one of the better Twitter follows at just intensely and I'd like to contend the trapper winning four times in a row. Nobody's done that besides jeez. That's that's for another time trust. And I gotta know though, where is going to go next like a lot of people who are left feeling happy for Colin Kaepernick, and the the amount of money that is reportedly been than handed over to him. But there also some people asking I what next with this movement. And this this stirred that. Rightfully so's shook some people up at the NFL headquarters. To be quite honest with you. I, you know, I I wish I could be, you know, a legal expert on all of this. But just for me, I if feels like, and I can only speak for myself when I say this. But it just feels like, you know, the the NFL recognized that you know, I don't know if they wanted to take it to intern in terms of like lag-, Asian and taking them to court of law. I don't know if they wanted to take you that far. That's why you know, they figured they should settle court. And maybe cabinets lawyers felt like a maybe we could prove this against, you know, the NFL, and I I've been telling people for a long time this interest felt like if this went to court if this actually got decided in the court of all this could be the biggest sports legal case since Kerr flood in the late sixties early seventies. A lot of people said that the fact that this ended in a settlement. We're talking to Justin Tinsley of the undefeated, the fact that this ended in a settlement means it doesn't prove anything. How do you think the NBA are of the NFL reacts to the ongoing negative PR surrounding this whole cabernet issue?.
