Us capitol has now requested communications between former president trump including his officials in allies and texas attorney. General ken paxton. He's being dragged into this whole thing. We will see where that goes jeremy. I'm not sure that it is any sort of liability in his republican primary for reelection. Anything that they can do to remind the voters in the republican primary that he's trump's guy is probably a good thing for him on that front all at the same time. Paxton has other legal issues. You saw this week where his office released in anonymous report. An anonymous report unsigned report that cleared him of all wrongdoing in the latest investigation against him. After some of his employees at the attorney general's office who then quit had said he was guilty of abuse of office and bribery. Come to find out through some reporting. It's gonna be hard not to but he surmised that it's like he's going to have a tough battle. I think in the general election he's raised. I would be most likely to expect a democrat to be able to pull that off who that democrat is not sure yet right and you'd have to that. We have to say that with all these races at the top of the ticket with the democratic party. Not having anybody yet running for governor. They sort of have a candidate for lieutenant. "This is Bloomberg Law With June Brosseau from Bloomberg Radio. I've been talking to Bloomberg Legal reporter David Yoffie Bellini about Texas attorney general Ken Paxton, who has survived scandals in the past, but will he get reelected? When he ran for re election. I saw the The photo where the person running against him had a truck with a huge picture of Ken Paxton's booking photo that didn't affect the election. He's proved to have nine lives politically. And, yes, he was re elected in in 2018. He didn't have a Republican opponent in the primary, partly because he had succeeded in running so far. The right that they're, you know, weren't really Conservatives who could kind of outflank him on the right, which is how you win Republican primaries in Texas and his kind of PR campaign against the securities fraud and bathe and the idea that it was a witch hunt that the charges were trumped up that it was a politicized prosecution of a political figure. You know, that really kind of resonated with Republicans in Texas, which prevented him from that primary shelf, so Of course, get a Democrat challenge him in the General A. A Yale educated lawyer named Justin Nelson had a very impressive resume, though no real political background and Melton turned the securities case into the center piece of his campaign. And, yes, he appeared in front of a truck with, you know, Ken Paxton mug shot blown up. He actually got ahold of that security footage of Tax them allegedly stealing the pen and turned that into attack ads that featured on the John Oliver Show, and so he really zeroed in on the difficult issues, But, you know, ultimately, Democrats don't win statewide elections in Texas. That hasn't happened in decades, and it's been the kind of holy Grail of the Texas Democratic Party for a long time, and Nelson came close. But Ultimately lost, which is sort of a testament to the strength of the Republican Party in Texas. But even somebody like Paxton, with all of the legal and ethical issues hanging over the head still won re election in the circumstances. He also is using his connection to Trump to his benefit. Absolutely. He's succeeded in really studying up to trump Trump endorsed him in 2018 and out of the National Rifle Association convention, where Trump was speaking that endorsed compaction. I also endorse his wife, Angela, Pakistan, who is running for state Senate. So he's really kind of cast themselves as Trump's biggest legal defender, and Trump's incredibly popular in Texas. And so, you know, it's been a successful political strategy for packed. He is involved in yet another scandal. Eight people within his office became whistleblowers to this is a scandal that exploded in the fall. And for a while really look like you could end passions career like he might actually be forced to resign in the wake of this toxin had a long standing friendship with a guy named Nate Paul, who's a real estate developer in Austin, who's had his own legal trouble, but Has also become a kind of prominent figure in Austin real estate world by buying up lots of the high price high value downtown properties in the city. So he impacts and we're friends in 2019. Paul became the subject of an FBI investigation and his home was actually created. But yeah, yeah, and that triggered a series of events in which Pakistan Kind of intervened in various ways to try to help Paul out. So, for instance, Paul wanted information about why the FBI had raided his apartment. And so he filed an open records requests to try to get some of that information. It would be very unusual for the Texas government to turn over documents relating to an open FBI investigation. But that request ended up that taxes, office and Tax and started pressuring his top staffers and copied to do something to help get these records. Uh, Paul at the same time. He also, uh, basically forced the attorney general's office over the objections of staff to intervene in the lawsuit that Paul was involved in and to intervene on Poles behalf because of help them out in that way as well. Paul also kind of concocted a theory that FBI agents and U. S prosecutors had somehow altered. We want for the church in his house that had been granted by a judge in ways that were illegal, and you wanted the attorney general's office investigator. Pakistan appointed a special prosecutor to look into this. There's a certain irony and impact of hiring a special prosecutor after railing against the special prosecutor in his own security case, But he gets a special prosecutor to work on it. You know, even after his own staff, okay? And his staff was mysteriously what was going on deep concerns, you know, thought that tax and maybe being bribed by Paul that might be the victim of blackmail, and on that this group of top deputies resigned report attacks and the local authorities, you know, went public to the press, and it was a huge scandal in Texas politics and Republicans stood by Paxton. During the securities. Rocky started coming out and criticizing him saying This looks really bad. You know, this looks corrupt, Got us prosecutors in San Antonio who were investigating packed them so That could be a federal indictment indictment that he's already contending with where he's had to rebuild his staff, which has caused various issues. No, at the same time that all this was happening efforts of preparing a big antitrust case against Google. The guy who is spearheading that work was one of the aides who resigned in protest and so taxes have to go to outside law firms asked the Legislature for more money to help hire people to come in and work on that Google Cape. So you know, there have been all kinds of issues the political, legal and practical stemming from this meet Paul situation. It's also emerged that Paul with the employer of Pakistan's former mistress, sort of adding another kind of element to the mix, and also providing a kind of potential rationale for what Paxton was doing, You know. He wanted Paul that you have a job to this mistress, you know, and no per happy Paul happy that type of opposite people in Texas political culture kind of floating around. But ultimately, you know, we don't really know the full story of what was kind of motivating his sort of unusual actions on behalf of Paul, but it certainly inflicted a lot of political damage. It's motivated to Republicans to comment. Texas Republicans so far to announce primary challenges against him because the heart of this FBI investigation that's ongoing and so it's really put him in town. And as you point out, it was the extramarital affair that seems to be more problematic for conservatives, then the rest of the things he's accused of doing. Certainly, For some people, I mean, there's a there are a range of views on this and there. Certainly conservatives attacked those who are appalled by the corruption allegations and for whom That's the main issue, but an important thing to understand about Paxton. He's often compared to Trump and he does have stirred similarity Trump in the way that he's kind of adjacent criminal behavior, and that there are all these kind of ethical concerns. That he survived. But unlike Trump, he had a reputation as a kind of a boy scout. He was super religious well behaved, had a strong marriage, strong family life. That was a big element of his Appeal to conservatives in Texas. So, whereas for Trump it's not really a big deal, at least politically for him to be accused of having affairs for Pakistan. It's pretty damaging because it kind of chips away at the whole basis of his political appeal. And so, yes, he's had you know evangelical conservatives who supported him for years turn away from him. Over the allegations affair, which he's never been up, and unlike Trump, he's the top law enforcement authority in the state of Texas. So it seems so strange to me that he can have all these charges and still survive as the Texas attorney general. I think it's really a story about the strength of the Republican Party in Texas over the last two decades, and it's also a story about the power of Donald Trump. And about how Saudi political operators aligned themselves Trump and basically used their association with him as a political lifeline. And the question now is, does that still work in 2021? Trump out of office. He's still an incredibly influential figure in the party. But is he so powerful? That alignment with him can help you overcome allegations of corruption allegations of the fair, and we're going to find out next year when he went past and goes up against George P. Bush, Jeb's son in a Republican primary. Her Re election as attorney general. You spoke to the D. C Attorney General Karl Racine. What's his interest in Pakistan Georgia congressman that the attorney general and D C. The former law school.

"For being here. Billy Squire. Just educating the boys in the control room. Thanks for being here It is. It's the mike room had show We're here till noon. We appreciate you being with us. And this story about schools opening and I'm reading through some new stories about parents that are upset that schools are opening in the East Valley. I just What I do not understand about this is no one is forcing your Children back into the classroom. Nor are they forcing teachers back into classrooms with Children. And it is voluntary and they're saying all benchmark should be met. I mean this with all due respect, you don't know that All the benchmarks haven't been met because the statistics are lagging by 12 days right now. We met when I say we collectively we have met two of the three standards needed. And one was not off by much. And we're watching a plummeting of the numbers. Now. If the statistics were accurate. And what's fascinating about this is now that the testing is being updated. So we're seeing numbers that are only a couple of days old. Instead of almost two weeks old, we have watched a dramatic decrease in the positive tests. That's great news for everyone. We had a little over 7% overnight. It was 5% overnight yesterday, 8% the day before. Maricopa County is about 6% positive rate for the past week. All of that is exactly where we want to be. With all the trends were watching. I'm telling you, and you should be able to look at the numbers yourself. We are meeting the standards. But this onslaught of people that are angry, so the new Times did a story with this guy named Justin Nelson has a four year old kindergartner. He's mad that Queen Creek shouldn't open. Why your four year old is not being forced into the classroom. And if there are teachers and parents and what you're ignoring Or maybe not ignoring, But you're not giving much thought to the facts that the pediatric associations and the child psychologists and people are saying for adults, even young adults. The CDC report last week was harrowing. Young adults between 18 and 20 for over 25% over one in four have admitted to seriously considering suicide over the last 30 days. If 2 18 to 24 year olds are being this impacted by the changes to their schedules to there to there being shut down and isolated. Imagine how it's affecting younger kids as well. And so the emotional, mental physical educational expense that it's costing during the shutdown. There are many experts that say it is a lot worse to not be in school than it is to face covert in school. That, coupled with a dramatic drop in numbers, has many parents and teachers saying this is the right thing to do. But No one is saying it's all or nothing. The governor laid out three options. One of those options was the in classroom option for parents and teachers that felt they were ready. Why are you taking that option away from those parents? Why do you think it's right to take that option away? It doesn't make any sense. Except when it comes to the teachers organizations, Eh, eh? You there Apart they have glommed onto A national movement to get attention. If you remember we had so much fun that day when they talked about their five days of action or whatever. It was six days of action, and one of them was. They wanted teachers to write their own obituary and read them via video to the governor. Now one state that I know of did it, But this wasn't Arizona. Coming up with these ideas. They were glomming onto one of the national organizations. Whether it's the tea or the national educators united Bien EU, which is who's doing the big event They've got coming up on Wednesday via video. And this is a labor movement. This is a union movement. This is not about kids. It certainly isn't about safety because they are having a discussion. You understand? If it was not safe, they would have the discussion. They can't argue the numbers, so they rabble rouse and they fear monger and no parent is gonna put their child in harm's way for a political statement. When I say no parent Very few parents. I mean, there's always gonna be one. But parents in the East Valley in the Queen Creek Unified School District certainly are not saying I love Donald Trump so much. I'm gonna sacrifice my kid's safety to approve it. And that's what the other side of this argument is. Making those parents out to be. It's It's insulting, and it's counterproductive. The fact of the matter is those parents love their Children. As much as you love yours, Theyjust think differently than you. Why not give them the opportunity to make their choice their tax dollars pay for the schools. The teachers that want to be in the classroom. Want to be in the classroom? Why not allow them? So they said, Well, there are teachers that have to go into their classroom. The dough feel safe. What you're not telling people is the teachers and Queen Creek that were being required in the classroom. We're going to be an empty classrooms. They were going to distance teach via video in the classrooms. That's what they were going to do. By the way, the HQ Irene School District has been sending out notifications today on day one of school. Sorry, but we're having really big problems with our up Lincoln. We understand your kids can't log in right now, and we're working on the problem and I'm getting messages from parents that are furious. Why is how can a school district not be prepared for day one? Now. Conversely, I will tell you If Dae won in Queen Creek safety protocols weren't being watched if people weren't wearing masks of kids weren't washing their hands if there wasn't distancing going on on day one, and they said, Look what's happening and the school said, Listen, we had a glitch on day one. We're working through these issues and it's going to be fine, which did not happen that we know if it didn't happen. But when you I guarantee you you're hearing for the first time that the HQ Irene School District can't get their kids logged in. That's okay. That's an acceptable glitch. This is again where you fall politically has nothing to do with safety. The number's scream that it's safe. Certainly safe enough to begin opening. And there are parents that want their kids in school with teachers that want to be in the classroom. I've yet to hear one reasonable conversation from anyone explaining to me why that should not happen. Explain to me why those parents and those teachers don't have the right to meet in classrooms with pro safety protocol in place. What gives you the right to stop them? No one will answer the question. No one will answer that question. At 11 20 Every day. We do something it's called. Did you hear this? We take the biggest news stories from throughout the day. We appreciate you spending some time with us going through a lot of what I've been watching and it's it's been it's been a It's been educational. To say the least. There is a movement going on where they are trying to. There's the action Network has a thing on Wednesday before you're going to talk with with teachers on the front lines. They're not on the front lines, the teachers on the front lines of the ones that are back in the classroom, the ones that are on the front lines of the ones that went to Canada. I mean that that's what's happening here, and there's a difference we're going to. We're going to use war analogies, the ones on the front lines of the ones that got deployed. So I'm not saying you had to go back into the classroom. But if the action network says, talk to teachers from Arizona, Florida in Texas who are on the front lines, they're not on the front lines, the ones that are back in the classroom today in the Queen Creek School district. They're on the front lines. You went to Canada. That's the difference number one. But this action network thing for Wednesday is talking about This its fundraising. And it's fight unsafe schools. And it's Wednesday night, eight o'clock eastern time, five o'clock in Arizona, and they asked people to R S v. P to listen to these teachers speak, but it's a false narrative. I want you to hear how false this narrative is, because neither of the two things you're about to hear are true whether you agree they should be back in school yet or not. Neither of the things that you're about to hear are true joined solidarity with educators in Florida, Texas and Arizona who are being forced to return to schools without adequate protection. That's a lie. And while Koven rates are rising, that's a lie. They're organizing to respond with motor caravans sickouts, which happened today it combs in the East Valley. So the Queen Creek Unified School District that out in Santana Valley, they agreed to maybe make thee in class option available to parents and teachers who wanted the in class option. In the Queen Creek Unified School District, they said. We want teachers in the classroom. Now we will leave your classroom empty, but we want you to distance teach from your classroom and empty, sanitized room. We're not going so they didn't show up. They called in sick. This is a part of the EU. The national educators United This is a national union and a part of a national campaign with organized teachers, unions and so their victory today at the Comb school was the Combs didn't open today. Now, how long will that be? Don't know. So their victory is no kids in the classroom today, no teachers in the classroom today and they're calling that a victory behind the scenes there high fiving that they kept the school closed. I just want you to realize That the teachers organization in Arizona the A A. A You They're celebrating that Your kids didn't get to go to school today. That they accomplished what they wanted in that school, Not in Queen Creek, not in the Queen Creek High School. So they are organizing with motor caravans, sickouts and community campaigns here from the teacher groups on the front lines. Well, if you want to hear from the teacher group on the front lines, I'll put some of those teachers on the air that went back to school today. And once again, I will say It's not about making all kids and all teachers back together. The online distance learning option is always there. These are the parents, teachers and Children who want to be back in the classroom on Lee asking the have the option to do so. Here's a headline from the New Times. Those kids are guinea pigs. Queen Creek School, Reopening divides community. So there they interview a father named Justin Nelson, who has a four year old daughter, who's starting kindergarten. Local school boards were voted to resume in person instruction next Monday. What if there's an outbreak in his Children's school? S. you still believe it's a government plot do you still believe you know there are other reasons for doing this or do you still believe it's unnecessary or do you believe you know maybe there is something to this or maybe we need to wait and see maybe we need to see what's going on here I think that I'm going benefit of the doubt again I can definitely say that I'm scared because I'm not but by the same token I don't know what's going on so I'm willing to sit back and wait and give the benefit of the doubt say all right if this we have to respect the shut down we have to give them what they want right now we have to do what they're asking for the sake of everybody around us you know regal bear the NBA player who's a total jackass we should be fine by the NBA we should be sued by by the reporters who's a quickening he had to go touch in front of everybody the microphones I heard at the lake what did you do with the microphones making a big **** of himself I almost said the whole last word make it a big **** of himself and then he turns up a coronavirus so you know you want to be that guy this is in all of all places route or route fifty five under Jersey water one point five Chris what do you think it dot I'm good how bout you you know what my perception has changed but unlike you in the other direction the more they're putting all this stuff out there and the more they actually actively trying to kill our economy more open well you know look at the numbers in China everything Justin Nelson PVC work knows and the CDC that if China it's over Hey bring off and if they would have more complications from their location about seventy percent of already recovered No Way because how long did it take for them to get that start to finish in China now and start to finish inside at the time yeah I'll tell you some brokerages have it broke out in December that's three and a half months but you can get this how many how many sections have dead child officials upgrades numbers a hundred thirty thousand people got killed trying out the box five thousand thought they already cursing at me out four times in the people's redo isn't only second hold on hold on so you're saying it should only affect those one quarter is bad as China because they've got four times any people as we do well if they thought it signature currently has a total of a hundred and thirty so you can look it up on the net yourself the actual numbers infected people in the whole month of one point two billion people why should we be much worse off than the Chinese hello I think I understand what you're saying I don't know I I again I I I'm not a scientist and you're not assigned Austin will but we have a conversation I don't see what you say but let me just ask you your your point is it took China and China is practically over at the numbers again veteran China right you see how you're saying it's passing in China is that what you're saying it's cresting that was just announced this past weekend okay right now wait a minute it's cresting in China and it has been going on in China for the past three months right yes okay now this is the beginning of it here in America we've only seen in the last couple of weeks right correct now they took three months in China will be fair to say that if we give it three months here we can get the same effect right correct so now based on everything that you just said you should be comfortable with us going two more months now well yes but not the restrictions because we're talking about a relatively small number of people having got sick in China and actually the number of people die from it is not the speed up percent that they're scaring me with insults three equities but much more testing he got about two hundred fifty thousand tests okay if someone the card based on what you just said the game so we have a smaller you know we we're above it you know we're ahead of it because we're ahead of where they are we know more about it they didn't know we can test so I'm sure that I I don't think we want this to end I don't think they want to hurt us I think if anything if they see a decrease like right now the idea of corralling it let's see what numbers we've got so then once they get an idea of that you'll see you'll you'll see it get looser your great what about the about my apartment I agree with you on the flu clues waivers Thomas exactly so so this is an over reaction to something that we have no reason to think it's going to be any worse than the flu especially when you look at the numbers of those countries it added for the couple of months and yet he did not anybody out there chilling here Connolly it making people lose their business which will help many restaurants cannot survive three four weeks ago or five because when you do for a living I work in the food industry Chris good luck thanks for calling New Jersey won a one point five years fast traffic.

"I'm actually tired of doing it check out boards likes to go show with Mike Russell and on Instagram at the go show of micro so you too go outdoors with Mike Russell down done torturing intern beans on her first day here now we get back to our guests please out welcome once again Jonathan del from your ears in the game and fish department you are the small game biologist you are part of the national dove federation alliance guy what are you very Star Wars it's a the national dove task force of the national dove task force and so you are part of the group they died that it just bag limits and does all that cool stuff so AT you do all that cool biology stuff and if you miss it I'm gonna send you over the podcast you find it on K. flight I com foxsports there's on it fox was nine ten dot com or the I heart radio app because he talked about the biology breakdown of dove season and I thought that was just absolutely fascinating but you're also a competitive small game chef I want to talk to you about cooking game and the man sitting to your right Justin Nelson of backcountry hunters and anglers your the chair of the Arizona chapter thank you for being here as well you are also a competitive the chef as well and your wife so let's get in to talk about some cooking game over the break we were talking about don't poppers being the official the food of dove season correct that is correct that is correct the official food of dove season everyone makes del poppers and Justin you actually said what can't stand up well you can just leave yeah I I don't know what language you're speaking I but we were talking about that is it's always the entry for doubt and I think a lot of people do I actually saw Stephen Elop making del poppers what's it about choked because it was in this giant like jalapeno boat of cream cheese and then I heard a little bit a dove in there then wrapped it with about nine pieces of bacon I like what where's the dog you want to put some canned chicken and the gang bang it's going to taste the same talk to us about it stepping out of the wrapping everything and bake it which one you want to hit that first I'll start zero today when you shoot does do not breast out welcome it's worth the time really yes okay the time you're only gonna shoot what fifteen a day for three days of roughly forty five the limit so you're not spending that much time plucking the does it doesn't take that's not really now I mean he seems like a you can't go on you're going to get a rhythm okay plugged up in less than a minute so you're okay and you might want you to show me how to do that service the I live really I don't think I can do that you get into a rhythm out there I don't even think about it then you're done especially if you're drinking and drinking a beer while you're doing your stuff then you know you really love time just melts away and at the end of it you're left with the skin on you need that that crispy texture once you go to cook it is well worth it okay don't you agree with that yeah I do actually do plus a lot of my birds okay one of the other benefits of doing that they simply so you have skin I mean he was a fight over thanksgiving Turkey skin a man you know I mean it's yes delicious well you can still just remove the skin and and use the breast so you normally did on on smaller dishes and things like that what's like that but you can take that skin if if you can take that skin and what you really need to do is don't put it down on a hot grill first you're gonna want like a you know one of those burger presses are sent some dollar you noted some it's flat okay and I wanted it to just more suited up you little bit oil or whatever take that skin and just laid on their first and then slammed it down on the hot griddle and just let it sit for a couple minutes okay pulled off the bacon dove it's crazy it's beautiful it's is you know that you can crumble it up put it over you know your your salad if you're if you're living that life for or you can use it on other days as I mean that's pretty amazing but yeah I mean you know so the traditional down poppers we think of is is the jalapeno the cream cheese yeah job and and the bacon Sir and and yeah I mean there's a lot of different ways you know to deal with that but there are other ways to make poppers one of my fun things to do is use per shoot instead of bacon check on hold up hold up really well as a grille just gives it a little you know nice your taste or if you like you wanna go crazy dump all that other stuff Cuba a pineapple take a chunk of pineapple put the duck breast on it wrapping Preciado you know maybe different a little bit of teriyaki sauce road on the grill grill right apple everything is fantastic and now you've got a one poppers guys and have to be the tradition I mean you there's a lot of different ways to to kind of adjust that so okay all right because that does this is just just feels marca I think you have to remind ourselves whole Weiss part of America to yeah all right just in your thoughts to your thoughts on just okay so you're talking hold bird yeah well from there yeah my favorite way to cut down his as a Hank shot recipe actually and it's called does Allah Mancha Kay is you plug your whole bird get it out yep and from then on he just cut a little bit of oil on top some smoked paprika has to be smoked paprika not okay even small Africa and smoked paprika Rica sourcing Bailey's in the cavity little bit of salt and pepper if you want thrown on the grill hi he couple minutes flip it couple minutes and you're done ready and that's the easiest way I've ever repair dove and it's one of the tastiest okay now I'm because once again a anything of the breast that's really what's there and the rest I'm thinking I'm meeting like those baby corns like one side to the other he just is there is there anything left after that is besides the skin yeah there's I mean there's a couple little nobles on the drums there's you know Prague Lachish kind of things yeah it'll bites okay yeah and it's it's well worth it I mean since you the breasts obviously is where it's at but you know it's small it's a mini corns game and basically and you growing hall and you're getting a you know two or three of them you're filling up okay yeah can you collect enough legs I mean you know if you see forty five birds you've got ninety lex yeah so that's ninety little nibbles and you know and so now you're you're getting close to a meal for yourself yeah point sell okay all right so let's let's actually step outside of this is about cooking game in general because I once again I I try to make people not afraid of cooking game because it please correct me if I'm wrong this is what I've been broadcasting on here for years if it doesn't taste like steak if it doesn't taste like pork it doesn't taste like chicken it's called game me it's it's because it it's not a cow it's not a chicken is not a pig it's supposed to taste what it's like what is supposed to taste like and if it do you encourage people to get that game you taste out of it like marinade the hell out of it and just they did then Brabin bacon or do you encourage people do you talk to when you're in your cooking competitions let the meat tastes like what it's all state yeah I would definitely say you know let it tastes like what it's supposed to but one of the the the big things the wind when you say gaming and that's it it it jumps out at me every time someone says that because what that immediately tells me is one of two things one you know you're not willing to open your palate two other flavors that that are out there but secondly it also tells me what you may be doing or you may be eating is overcooked yes because when it win any game species doesn't matter what it is the flavors intensifying get stronger just like with tough overcooked of case like liver yes properly cooked of doesn't taste anything like that task you know I mean just just you know kind of imagine taking your your your rib eye steak and running it through to well done or more no no I don't even mention the has a very strong beef flavor yes it does but it isn't the same as what you get with a nice medium rare awry and so yeah one of the things I can always just never never over cricket game I mean it it little you're not try you don't have to cook a disease out of it you don't have to like cooking into submission let it you know just just given enough I mean that's the the beauty of of wild game for most species it's just you know medium rare is about it I mean I actually thought like that would be the great title of a of a while game cookbook just medium rare medium rare because it's some of the rarest meet you're ever gonna find you know these are the way kings eight and it's it's we get to experience something that the only way you get to experience the eat these things is through hunting yeah not available in stores that I can't be sold it isn't you know anchored some marketable thing like a hundred years ago right this is amazing this is the way kings eight yeah this this is this is literally the red lights fans like this is the rarest best cuisine you could possibly have been the only way you're going to get there is with a gun this is the way kings I'm not going to say that for ever now is this is the waking state that is fantastic I love it now we are unfortunately darn near at a time so Justin if you can help me out here just in Nelson the event is Saturday the seventh in Yuma at the pint house at the point now that a python Yuma where do they get information on the the dove the the world what we call the worldwide will change world champ at the World Championship yeah yeah check out our website "Yes I know it but I have to say just to bug the interns you can find us on social media Facebook account for five to go to a micro and on Instagram at the go show of Mike Russell you too go outdoors a micro soul and you we we will continue now with not bugging the interns and get to the business of dove season thank goodness we is right around the corner stone to get excited it's time you prepare John del the small game biologist for your Arizona game and fish department has really helped us with the biology of it all and just to keep the grin on his face when I asked him how things are looking for the season just made me so excited now let's talk about a really cool event that we got going on down in Yuma AZ you it is our our the crown jewel of dove hunting here in Arizona Justin Nelson he is the chapter chair right of backcountry hunters and anglers you guys came up like coal raise the I can't you can go anywhere in this community now without hearing something about backcountry hunters and anglers what is that introduce it to the car away yeah yeah so back into hunters and anglers were nationwide non profit we now have chapters and I believe it's forty five states now nice tune it two Canadian provinces and a separate chapter just for Washington DC as well so international yeah yeah yeah lack we're all over and you know nationwide we've been growing our populates our our membership we've been doubling every year for the past three or four years man we've been doing the same thing here in the state are on track to do it again this year K. nationwide we have approaching forty thousand members and and growing like I said in Arizona specific members or are right about a hundred and we just open the get about thirteen hundred by the end of the year okay so what is backcountry hunters and anglers is is it like a rocky mountain elk foundation is it is it a non profit you guys do do travel works or eight what what what do you guys do yeah so were very similar rocky mountain elk foundation a nonprofit five oh one C. three we specialize in public land waters access issues so our motto is where the voice for public lands and waters and me being a public land owner correct yeah every every American citizen is a public land owners right you have access to six hundred forty million acres nationwide whether or not you like to hike on mountain bike fish camp whatever you like doing on public lands we support it and we want to work to maintain that access and even help grow when we can't so we do that work with boots on the ground type activities with with clean ups with water catchment fixes fence removals we have a S. O. H. B. signage property program that we're working here in the state spreading the responsible use of always reason and others also you know a lot of people think you know your back country guys all you like to use hi six miles and forgotten I mean a lot of us like doing that that's great but we also offer yourself to yeah I'm on now we like you know we all have checks we use side by side squads at whatever you know it's just another tool in the toolbox but it's all about using it responsibly as soon as the trailer gets torn up from some guy decided to make taker happen take it's been through mud hole there yeah you know that starts closing down access for everybody right when we're all about access so right we work we do a lot of you know what's going on type stuff up throughout the state nationwide and then also we do a lot of work legislatively as well okay with it I think you guys are needed in the the last few weeks says says headlines are being made about our public lands in the the man who's been tasked to well to head our public lands is the fan at least in the past of selling public lands right right yeah which is summer you know obviously concerned with the public land and the federal land transfer move that's been kind of wrapping up here the past three years is obviously somewhere were definitely opposed tumor working hard to make sure that you know we don't go down that road no right nobody wants to go down that road just just a select few that do for their own for their own interests and it's not you know not good overall so we work a lot here at the state level legislatively when bills come up that could affect those you know our traditions that research saying and nationwide as well okay now let's talk about membership what is it how to how do we find out information had we signed up how what is casa sign up all yes so check out backcountry hunters dot org the full gamut of different membership options probably the best value in confidence conservation is twenty five Bucks a year gets you a membership to be HA on you get access to our newsletters both state and now nationally our quarterly journal called the back country journals are nationwide publication a lot of great content in there some really cool stories hunting hunting stories conservation stories late at ways to get involved and in every state that we have a chapter there if your F. would no matter where you're from there's ways to get involved and it's all it's all right there that's great okay so let's let's figure out how we're all in the room together here this is it's it's all coming together so John del you have participated in I don't know if you were part of creating the whole thing with down in Yuma there's there's a dove cook off right this is a you know yeah I did this for years yeah yeah yeah my me and my buddy matter the two time defending champion here we go I just him up like that this is this now this is why he doesn't get any brought out the man child okay so and then we had to take a year off it was it was just didn't happen last year yeah yeah I was it you know we we we had a good start but I mean it's still you know anytime you try to do something new particular like this I mean you can you know run and take roadblocks whatever had just kind of a rocky start and you know it's it's about finding a venue it's about you know it's yeah there's there's a lot of pain to do well you know I I would love to be able to do it outside but of course it's September first in in Yuma sure it's not you know pedestrian friendly in the middle of the day so you know yeah it's it's been trying to find the the right next to the right you know combination to make it work cell okay and then is this guy shows up and says Hey wait a second we can take that on my in my I'm not over someone that might be mean back cut back country came in and said yeah we can do it yeah yeah we totally went you know Justin I had met few years ago and you know one of the things that that backcountry hunters and anglers is is really kind of known for aside from everything that Justin talked about is you know their their advocation of wild foods you know particularly those things that we hunt and fish and and gather and angle and everything else so HM arms it's right kind of in there we'll house because they have a much the largest while game cook off every year at the rendezvous yeah it's it's pretty spectacular so yeah this is directly in the wheel house and and just in the folks for they were ready to jump on board so yeah we can we can totally support this and help you out so I love it okay and then and then here we go so let's talk about the event itself we got about three minutes left so the event itself is the seventh this Saturday the seventh craning Yuma yep in your where at the pint house the right one yeah yes okay work in everybody's it you just you sort of lead with light house it is gonna commercial light house okay yeah bright house right in downtown it's going on at the same time as the city's beat the heat of it cool so downtown you months going to be jumping one big block party yeah that night so there's going to be you know food vendors craft vendors a band mainstage car show all kinds of things going on right out in front of the bar we're going to be in the bar do not cook off with all of our contestants will have a pint night going concurrently to where we all of our members show up so I put the stories brag about the tags they got and I have a beer have a good time bunch a raffle prizes were given away some door prizes and it's it's just gonna be a whole plethora of things to do that night the what's going to be a good time because I'm one of the judges and this is what I got excited about when you guys are saying about the judging is that part of the scoring is how you treat the judges and how you host the judges tell me why that came about and I did I love that whole thing yeah so this whole event is kind of a disco Goff is modeled after like John said our name our nation wide rendezvous that we get together with all of our national chapters once a year and we have a a wild game cook off and Arizona is the two time champion back to back champions my sending titles John and and Michael Cravens our other board members are the defending champions right now my wife and her friend wanted the year before so we're trying to bring that model in scale it down a little bit for this for this cook off here in Yuma and yeah part of that is catering to the judges you know it's not a blind tastes like a lot of cook offs it's how you treat the judges the story tell how did you get how did you get the bird tell me about the morning or that you shot it and you know how did you come up with the recipe and that's you know that's all right get all about getting creative in different ways to repair does I love this so creativity is a big part of this by the way so I don't think I'm gonna see a lot of dell poppers down there my now I don't think that's going to be the case down look at you looking at me like I never know I no I mean that's the official food of dove season I mean I don't of course it is eight in here's what I want to do if if you guys hang with me through the break what it what I really want to do is talk to both of you because this is what you do and now you can set your wife does this as well I want to talk to you about cooking game because I talk about the show for the last seven years I've talked a lot about cooking game and how to do it right and not to be afraid of it and it to be creative and and have some fun so if you guys could stick around it is Jonathan del he is the small game biologist for your heirs on a game and fish department and Justin Nelson he is the chair of the Arizona chapter of backcountry hunters and anglers that they are going to help me show you that it isn't that hard cooking with games coming up next right here on the go show.

"A law that ensures that an occupational license cannot be denied or revoked by the state because of default on student loans to protests, your right to earn a living. That is no longer. There you go. So what do you make this? I mean you've defaulted on your student loan to get that education. You finally get the license of the certification. And, and now the snake denies you that permit or that license because you got tremendous student loan debt. But the governor says, you know, they shouldn't slow you down from having a career jump in here at five one two eight three six zero five ninety while you do have to have that job to, to, to pay to buy the debt absolute. Oh, you know, you don't want to cut off the money stream there. Yeah. But I don't want. I just don't want this to be some kind of, you know what you, you get a complete pass. You get a complete pass on paying off your debt. Well, we get work in get them employed, and then they can start garnishing wages. That's how student loan debt typically works. That's how it should work, right? Well, you should just pay it. That's good. That's a good start. You could just see that things are not good. Well, a couple of years ago, maybe four or five years ago. Now they did the Runberg revitalization program pumped a lot of money into that area, high crime area and a lot of the techniques and a lot of things that the city did actually work to clean up the area. They shut down a few of those small little motels that actually rent the room by day, you know, an afternoon. Yeah, you can rent a room for six hours. You know that sort of thing, which is what hookers and prostitutes have been using an hour. That sort of thing, and that helped they actually shut down a couple of, you know, motels in, in the area around. Brian Bergen I thirty five they even put metal fencing up underneath the bridge to keep the homeless community from sleeping underneath the bridge and, and that worked to however, they found little pockets in areas around, you know, the bushes around that intersection of run Bergen I thirty five where they kind of their tucked away at night, three o'clock four o'clock in the morning that whole area is vibrance with activity, lots of people walking around doing whatever kind of business takes place at that time of day been lots of people lots of activity, you know, in the in the shadows of the sidewalks as you drive by you just you just tell something on I drove past one day. What was clearly clearly a drug deal going on. There's no there was no doubt about it. You know someone standing at a car, and it would looking around and something changing hands. And it was just there's always something like that, that you look at and go, that's probably not a good situation. So. I. Yeah, I've certainly seen. No improvement, listen. The Trump administration is disputing a New York Times report that claims those Mexico tariffs deal, the Mexican tariffs deal was actually in the work for months. Here's FOX reporter, Rachel, Sutherland homeland security secretary, Kevin Macalinsan points out the Mexican delegation. Scrambled Washington right after President Trump threatened. The tariffs telling Fox News, Sunday, foreign minister from Moscow arrive with an hour. He ride the next day with real proposals on the table Nakhalin and says Mexico's plan to six thousand national guard troops to Guatemalan border is larger than previous promises. President Trump is still holding the threat of tariffs over Mexico's head if it fails to live up to the deal in Washington. Rachel Sutherland, Fox News, there you go. So some people are doubting the president on this issue. But the details are clear they're going to the Mexican government's going to do what it can dislodge the flow of either limits coming into their country on their southern border and maybe stopping them that sort of thing. Yeah. Well, they should have they should have responsibility on both. Borders on on both sides, up-and-down, so north and south. So if you're if, if you're finding problem with this, I don't know what to say to you. Jump in here in five one two eight three six zero five ninety toll free eight seven seven five nine zero five five to five well, they just can't, you know, the president can't get credit for any though it can't win for losing. No, this is one of the best examples. I thought this was a huge achievement. The fact that, that they were able to avoid the tariffs, and to white Mexico up. Yeah. And yeah, they had been negotiating some of these details for months, something that previous presidents had not done. Why is that a problem? And they have actually agreed to do a little bit more as a result of the, the five percent threat. Yeah. So it's working. Yeah. And I know some people listening like Alice who likes to call the show at nine o'clock in the morning. Marie or Tammy or whatever her name is, she's very progressive, in, in she'll hate everything that the president does no matter what even if it stops the flow of illegal immigration, she's going to hate him for it, because that progressive left on this city council, especially they like the idea of Ollie, Ollie, oxen, free open borders. Come on. Come on. Come on in. I mean that's what that's what most of the twenty what do we have to in the democrat candidate? What do we have to sixty three candidates for sixty sixty four up around there, but they all want. They're all talking about open borders period yet. Yep. So if port this deal, if so what if it had been talked about for quite a while? What? The problem. They're trying to find is, is that the president is boasting about this and dang Ronnie's boasting about a good accomplishment. Seven forty three. And as you know, the president is back from Europe. And now facing renewed scrutiny by House Democrats removed or report temperature is rising in Washington in advance of a series of hearings that will get underway this week, which is the Democrats attempt to keep the spotlight on what they believe is obstruction of Justice on the part of this president today. Two pm before the House Judiciary committee. Former Watergate figure, John dean is appears, no doubt, an effort by Democrats to link the Trump administration, at least in spirit and appearance to the Nixon administration. Democrats still have not found a way to proceed. With impeachment hearings Nancy Pelosi trying to calm the crowd by saying she wants the president to go to jail. That doesn't seem to be working welcome back to Washington. Mister president who you go. So Nancy says listen to worry about impeachment. Let's lock him up for what crime five one two eight three six zero five ninety. What a horrible scene. In Dallas, one person killed several others were injured after a construction crane crashed into a residential building this happened in Dallas yesterday. Here's the Dallas city manager TC Brown now all the unit that the apartment complex have been searched in. Everyone has been accounted for and evacuated to the unification center at the Latino cultural arts center. Yeah. Jason to the facility and quite a. Imagine very scary time there in Dallas to that apartment complex was a powerful storm that rolled through a crane collapsed. Onto.

"And or so I can think about it or so I know so I can be conversant about it. And you know, I know that when I asked someone when you went to that thing, whatever it was what did you see that? I'm going to get their version of it. And they're going to pay attention to the things they have to. And maybe if I wanna four you'll have to talk to more than one person. But what a reporter is supposed to do is come back with the information that you would have been able to see if you've been able to witness an event or talk to somebody yourself, and ideally, they present you with enough information that even if they're emphasis is not the same as yours might be. They come back and give you enough information. So that you think in our case the decision about, you know, democracy. How am I gonna vote? How should they have voted did that guy perform on that Bill or did she vote that way that I wanted her to and what do I do about it? Yeah. Okay. Well, I'm done with my curve balls now roths looks things. Things we send that we were actually talking about here calling her Mike Collier ran pretty down the line pretty pretty moderated democrat. Four Lieutenant governor in in outperformed Benoa Rourke in a lot of counties. What do you make that will, you know, overall, the, you know, the the first thing to remember is that overall got more votes than any other Democrats and let the ticket, and you know, in particular that in the cities, but when you go down and look at the two hundred and fifty four counties in Texas in a hundred and seventy one of those counties might call your got more votes than Benadryl. Melrose out random in the cities. But you look at that. And you say well what's going on down ballot? And I think you know, it's hard to wrong complete conclusion from one election. But you know, there are a lot more swing voters out in the rural counties than than people account for as you say that you gotta realize that those are still really really red areas and much redder than the suburbs. Or then the city's but there were places in rural Texas where candidate like my Collier. Did you know outperformed the guy who was getting famous in this election? So. Would the go gut famous even more famous had he run more like Collier. That's that's followed up for me. I, you know, I don't know. I think this is one of those things where the political experts will take this apart and try to figure out, but you know, the expert raw, but hold on hold on a minute people who run elections, and actually, you know, performed by just what you know. It's, you know, don't confuse the guy in the press box of the halfback. You know, those people are looking at this and trying to figure out what it was different about this election. What worked what didn't work, you know, from whatever their standpoint is, you know, the Republicans and the Democrats are all trying to do this from their from their various standpoint. And the fact that you know, that might call your did better in that many counties, then Beto roared, and frankly, the Justin Nelson, the attorney general candidate and Kimmel's, and you know, they they they got more raw votes and a lot of those counties than that's a whore. And you know, I think the the specialists who actually run elections or looking at those numbers and saying, well, this means and you know, over the next six months or a year. We'll start to see them adjusting their future plans based on outcomes of this election, who is specialist though on the democratic side like who is the up and coming Karl rove on the democratic side. It's reading discrepancies between. Or Rourke and call your Olsen looking at what happened because we know that there is not a huge democratic infrastructure in Texas. But who's looking at this saying, this is how we begin to capitalize. Well, I think all the people that ran the races. You know, the Beto raise that ran that congressional rinses accessible for calling Allred up in Dallas or Lizzy Fletcher in Houston, you know, those people are moving up, and I think everybody in the country in politics is looking at the Texas, you know, kids or the new guys or whatever you wanna say who are running these campaigns and saying let's bring them along they get closer than anybody's got a long time..

"Rust belt was sort of a hinge and appears like they're returning back to that democratic that track though, was I was out in Iowa just a month ago in the northwest part of the state following the campaign of shady Shelton who was running against Steve king, white, nationalist thief, gang, and you know, spent three or four days there. The opportunity to really dig in on on on what the feeling was there. And you know, a lot of former Republicans talking about how they made a terrible mistake. You know, obviously, I was I was deep in farm country. You're talking about areas where the trade issue has as punctured a bit. But also the issue of the USDA not being onside family bar that might have been even even more of an issue in that in that area. So you know, that became that this wing. Yeah. I mean there there was part of that. I mean, but you know, the undercurrent of the king Scholten races, obviously kings white supremacist rhetoric. And and but that leads to the critique that he's incredibly ineffective and that he's. Not helping the constituents in in that area who are largely rural and informed community. So yeah. So I mean, I do think the mid west sworn to an extent I think we're seeing that in the numbers still. But again, it's a long way to go. What do you think account is it because there are localized issues? But I mean, you know. Like, Wisconsin, Ohio, Illinois, Michigan. I mean, you're talking about those rates you're racist. You're talking about how how the short-term trade issue is affected people, and you're talking about, you know, the economy has been on the same trajectory as it was, you know, at at at that point twenty sixteen it really has has there's been limited change to that trajectory the tax cuts giving sort of short term punch, but the the trajectory has been relatively the same. Well, that's rejected wasn't very good in the middle batch in the rust belt. So you know, it could just be look he's been there two years. And they haven't done that much for certainly Democrats won the messaging battle in the tax cuts. They certainly one the messaging battle on how. Care, and in those mid west districts that you know, which are far from the Mexico border that may have mattered quite a bit more, right? They're less racist. I mean, I'm not saying they're less raisins. But I'd I'm just saying that. This is just a different environment. Right. Oh, maybe. Yeah. Maybe a little bit. I mean, you know, it's. It's I don't know there's going to be in what's your sense of the the youth vote? I mean, do you have a, you know, obviously, we we don't have any of the data yet. And I'm just curious if you have any sense of like did that materialize. Are there? Do you think there's more slack? I guess in the democratic vote because it's a midterm in other words, if if we say like, okay, Democrats outperformed making up numbers now, but they out perform their normal mid term, whatever that baseline is performance by twenty five percent Cody percent and Republicans outperformed it only by fifteen percent, but their baseline was hired to begin with. And that's why comes in about. Let's say just even I'm just throwing out numbers here. Is there more slack? I mean because Republicans a higher percentage of them come out for midterm. Just generally speaking is there more opportunity with the same amount of democratic energy. Let's say that because of the differences between these off here on your elections that more people are going to come out. Well, let's talk about a few headwinds by the way throw out that Florida. Twenty six Debbie Makarska pal has one according to AT beating Carlos Cabello. So that's a pickup for the Democrats down in Miami area. And I actually have seen that the attorney general of Texas is actually slightly behind. His challenger Ken Paxton news under felony indictment. Right now is losing at the moment. Through is. Down critic challenger Justin Nelson. Okay. So chancer question. There are going in. There were tremendous headwinds for Democrats number one. The economy is humming law. Right. Unemployment is at pretty much low levels. It's as I say on the same trajectory. But it's it's the the economy is doing well..
