Chip Ganassi Sells Entire NASCAR Team to Trackhouse Racing

"Chip Ganassi sold his NASCAR team to Justin Marks. He's the owner of track House raising. And declared that he will pull out of the nation's top stock car series at the end of this season. Now one of the things that happens when you buy a NASCAR team that's established like Chip Ganassi. Is that you buy a charter and because the Nazi has two cars that means to charters. Now the terms of the deal were not released. But what I want to know is How much As of two weeks ago are two charters in NASCAR. And if anybody doesn't know what where the charter is, it means basically that you have an agreement that you're going to show up at the race with those two cars

"Races and ask our team owner chip said today that it reminds him a lot of when he called felix bodice twenty years ago about getting involved in nascar so it is generational here and it is a bit of a changing of the guard in nascar team ownership. But it's not as nascar being left in a bad place even though ganassi is such an iconic name and other arenas of motor sport like you mentioned imsa an indycar multiple indy five hundred winners and championships chip ganassi still is exiting nascar at a time when they got michael jordan. They've got hit pitfall They've got guys. Like justin marks and matt colleague and brad kazlauskiene lousy and jeff gordon kind of transitioning into new areas of ownership and management. So a lot of good things happening for nascar right now even with chip ganassi's exit and i think tenacity would agree with that. Know i look at. I look at it. It's a it's a huge. We talked charters. We can talk all we can talk a lot of the ripple effect for me. It's expansion for me. It's growth in our for me. It's movement in the sport. It's an owner. That's joining the club under fifty years old. You know what. I mean and is expanding. I mean we've got a lot of eighty year old. Let's be honest about it. Okay if we're going to expand if we're going to grow if we're going to expand and grab those new ideas it has to be those youthful owners. Those guys think outside the box justin marks is that guy bringing pit bull along that got denny hamlin. Is that michael jordan is. There's so many people calling racing got. Yeah we can put them in. So i think it is a huge day for the sport from how it's perceived to the outside world so a huge day for ownership but i don't think we want this announcement to overshadow the weekend upon. No we have seen xfinity series racing and road america for eleven years. Racing's been great. The fan base is outrageous and now that outrageous rowdy spectacular constant crowds with staten. Crass is getting the cup series handicap of for me. What are we gonna see. We got rain mesic. Coda forget that one or back. The road course racing. Who you like. This was open. Connor was going to give me a tip man. I throw me a bone here. Throw me something. You don't want golly man. I you just hate to go against those those henrik card. I'm gonna go with william byron. I think my man william byron is going to bust him all this weekend..

"Yet again. So who knows. I know there's a lot of really cool news today. I definitely want to say justin marks. That's awesome. I think justin marks honestly is potentially on his way to you know being one of those names in motor sport that we're very familiar with you've got hendrix the world gibbs row. You've got penske ganassi andretti. All those names. I honestly truly believed the justin marks is going to be one of those guys in the next twenty years. I think what he's done already in the sport as a team. Owner is fantastic. Dana suarez and his brain is very big. I can see a lot of good business being done. Incredible deals that. He's working on being involved with the natural race. I think that's that's awesome and our sports kind of mingling. Together indycar nascar. I think all that stuff is good for motoracing in general In in north. America when you heard saying on oh go ahead staying on the news of the day connor. I just wanna get your reaction to gase. Obviously huge indycar presence. What you make of that. If that would have any impact on the indycar side and also we learned today. That rina's vk your at corporate racing. We'll be back this week in a bid ohio to work with a couple of temporary drivers the last couple of races. Are you looking forward to having arenas back as well. Yeah in charlotte. And he's feeling good. I think that kids basically robot. Now he's invisible so it's it's pretty impressive but but yeah on the nasty side. I mean chips. Smart guy he. He's one in everything. He likes winners as he says. And i think he's he's still an an currently running probably one of the strongest indycar programs on the grid. Right now So you know who knows what he wants to do next. I mean i'm sure he's not necessarily pulling out of motorsport. You know what i mean. He's gonna. he's going to have some of his sleeve. That's really really cool..

"That sounds silly but i almost think that's a better business model for for major sports organization look at companies in this country. They're growing about doing right by the country and it ends up being monetize. It looks to me that track house pit bull. They're trying to have a mantra other than let's go in and i'm going to jump in right there in say for four pit bull for i spent last week. Spent a couple of days with that is a win for him. Yeah that is a win improving the community. Changing people's lives moving. The needle morally is a win for him. So sorry just wanted to do that. I'm looking forward to watching that episode. By the way as well kyle on dinner drive but yeah i mean you guys have seen it. We saw it bill at nashville and the amount of excitement that he brought just being on the grid. He tweeted in support of this announcement. Today and i haven't checked recently. But millions of people saw that because he has millions of twitter followers and he is a transcendent personality. Much the way. Cv mentioned m. mj was a huge pickup. And michael jordan was at pocono as the owner of denny hamlin's car with bubble wallace and all of these things that i think are good for the race teams. But they're definitely good for nascar as a whole because they're they're putting new eyeballs on nascar. That probably normally wouldn't be watching and deceives point about how track house navy operates a little bit differently. I think we've heard that from justin marks a lot. He views himself as a little bit of a disruptor he wants to i think viewed as a visionary. He's a very young guy and again. This is what chicken asi is talking about that. All the talk. We do about a new generation of drivers in nascar and indycar. There's definitely a new generation of owners that have suddenly come into nascar cup series and justin marks really is at the vanguard of that and tie it back to the charter discussion. I don't know if this can happen without the charter system. Being in place. And i think also with the next gen car next year is next season. That's really going to change the business model in the framework and the dynamic where you don't think you know teams will be able to be a little bit more nimble in terms of the way they operate and i think that will give Just a mark stat pathway to potentially moving the competition base of this team eventually to nashville outside of the charlotte hub. Well we're far from done discussing this major news about track house. Acquiring chip ganassi racing but motormouth isn't just a free motormouth call show. Let's have the fans call in one. Eight four four nascar nbc. We'd love to take your call and ask carl is on the line big news today sir. What you question. I'll tell you what our sport is changing. I love it. I love what you guys said. i do. I love what they're gonna do. The community performance is key in our sport. Obviously but how this nuts. How long do you guys so before we start saying track houses now. They're mega team sport. How long do you think this comes together with all the resources they get now. Well i don't know mega team. But i will say that chevrolet has been very vocal. They announced their center a couple months ago. They're changing their entire support of the chevrolet teams. So i think that helps the team. I track house when you look at chicken asi. They were what chevrolet calls one of their key partners one of their major organizations. I'm going with the assumption. When you buy a whole company that hands you become that key person and we know it's about oem support so. I think track house making this investment to cars helps them move forward now. Listen you still got to guys that. Sit in the second driver is going to be interested to see. It is but i believe much like you said. I will go on record that i didn't have running as well as i run this year. Now they outperformed my expectation. So i don't know about mega team. But why can they not continue to outperform. I think they're on their way. Yeah attitude. I think i think and carl nails it a little bit. There says his perception is now. They're in mating. And i think this has to do with perception. And.

Justin Marks had a great Cup Series race on Monday

"Justin. Marx's on he is the team owner of daniel suarez number nine cup series car that led fifty eight laps on monday and ultimately finished fourth despite daniel saying he had no idea how to race on dirt after the race. Yeah i mean it was great. I was not there unfortunately out of conflict. I couldn't move for monday. So that was a heartbreaker but i was. I was hanging onto every every lap on my phone tv communicating with the guys during the race. So yeah i mean it was. It was a great day for our team. It really was. I mean we we have. We believe that we're capable of doing great things in this order and it comes down to just trying to prepare as best. We can weaken and week out making sure that we we all rally behind. Daniel give him a piece of equipment capable of exposing his talent his ability to the best possible possible level. So i think we did that yesterday. I i think nobody really knew what to expect. Going into this race but I know that we kind of relished in the fact that we could you know sort of leave our computers in the truck and kind of go racing old school and and you know look at tires and communicate with daniel and just kind of look at the race track and and make changes on the fly. I think the guy's really relished that lead in the bat and enjoyed that but it was really really really nice to watch. It's just nice nice for guys and a lot of confidence with big confidence builder for the guys and a special day.

"I heart radio ads and a Bloomberg Quick tape. This is Bloomberg 11 30. Now. Global News update. The department's chief says he is investigating. Health officials in West Africa declare a new rebel a outbreak in southeastern Guinea. The World Health Organization confirms three people have died from the virus in a rural community. And 2016, Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, will soon be adding another member to their family. A spokesperson confirms Meghan is pregnant with the couple's second child. That's the latest I'm Cameron Fairchild. This is the business of sports from Bloomberg Radio. Well, thanks so much for joining us. We're here each and every week for you at the same time. Talk to the biggest names in sports. I'm Jason Kelly, along with Mike Lynch and Michael Bar. Let's get back to our conversation with NASCAR President Steve Phelps. Talk a little bit about if you can the importance of that Jordan led ownership group and you mentioned Pitbull is well, I mean, that's meaningful, not just from a driver perspective and obviously bubble. Wallace has been a Trailblazer in that regard. But the ownership side I feel like we're talking Maura and Maura about across all professional sports and representation, diverse representation at all levels at the executive and the ownership level. Tell us how that has has sort of rippled through your world. Extraordinarily important for us again another state of goal that we would have new ownership come into the sport. So we have three new owners coming into the sport in 2021 who the owners are not insignificant as well. Right? So you've got you know Michael Jordan and Denny Hamlin. It's an ownership group. You've got a young man who was the driver. His name is Justin Marks, having pitbull be part of his organization. Has caused a lot of excitement. And then another one called the fast another one of our young drivers, a young man named Matt Tift being an owner. He does, Dad. Those are important for us, right? We need that You want to diversity of thought you wanted diversity of ownership, and that's what we're getting. I think that's going to continue as we go into 2022. Of an entirely new race car that's coming called our next GEN. Car That will be a game changer for the sport with respected cost styling, and the product on the racetrack is going to be a phenomenal It's crazy to think how excited we are about 2021. But essentially, it's a bridge here to 2022, which is kind of crazy to think about had a chance to talk to Kevin Harvick about now. Gambling. And there are many online sites in many states that have embraced online gambling. And NASCAR is one sport that is involved. Remember 10 years ago, Every sport was shying away from that. It's like now every sport is doing it. I would like to ask your thoughts about NASCAR and online gambling Michael. It's an important areas. I think for all sports is important for us in particular. Because if someone put the wager down on a race, then they're going to be more invested because they've got skin in the game. We've seen that repeatedly at the NASCAR handle last year. With one of our gaming partners was 2600% so certainly lower base, then the NFL has for sure. And part of it's just teaching fans how to bet on NASCAR because it's not as easy as a what's the over under way. Spread is seven or it's more difficult than that. It's in some cases more akin to horse everything. And so for us, it's a massive opportunity to engage a new fan or frankly engaged in existing fan. We see sports betting is exactly that, you know, Will they be revenue that will come with that? Yes, but to me, it's more important that we are Engaging that fan rather than the dollar, you pick up the dollar and put in your pocket. I love the broadcast of NASCAR. There's nothing like it. I think it just blows away every other sport with cameras in the cockpit and conversations with the driver. Even sorry camera inside the brakes one time, but a lot of other sports are doing things to reach out to fans. Baseball is trying to If the younger fan trying to speed up the game we saw a Nickelodeon involved with the National Football League broadcast this year. Any innovations our chances that you can share with us that might be coming up in 2021. The Nickelodeon thing is interesting right? Because it's a Viacom owned entity, and CBS was involved in that, obviously, because they're also Viacom. You know for us, it really is about you were concentrating on the product itself. Lots of technologies that we're looking at. You know, we work with Fox and with NBC who are to broadcast partners to continue to look at different camera angles, and I think you saw some things last year. The use of the drones and with the broadcast, which was unique in different started with NASCAR and then moved to other sports. And then just our nascar dot com and that particular act that people can go to and just hear the scanners, you know, hear what drivers and crews air saying, looking at different camera angles that are unique and different. That might not even be on the broadcast. You again different relationships that we have from a social media standpoint, they're pushing out things that the key for us is to make sure that it's compelling content that people are getting on the device or on the channel or on. You know, whatever. Outlet they use that we are there, and that's an important thing for all of sports. It's certainly important for us in NASCAR, Steve, I guess as we wrap up the conversation here as you look T 21 to the 21 season. You know, and even beyond Daytona. What success for you for? Especially from a business perspective in 21 in this very uncertain time. Like what? Do you look ahead to? What do you that share with us? You know some of your kind of business side milestones here. For us. I think it's a continuation of what happened in 20. His stated goal that we had during Cove it right when we weren't racing except for the eye racing that we had done, which was very cool on Fox,.

"Welcome to this week Sep assode of racing now, and then I'm your host William and we're very happy to have with us today fifteen year old Isabella Robusta from. Fort. Mill South Carolina. Who is this year's recipient of the Young Racer Award presented by the NASCAR drive for diversity program welcome Isabel, and congratulations. For having what does this mean to you and to your career to be the recipient of this award? It means everything just being the second time that I've received this award. The first time was a huge surprise and a very thankful and time is even more of a surprise because I knew hours nominated this year and that the NASCAR foundation ended up. Nominating. So when I got the award, I was very surprised and on very thankful that they recognized and all of the. Work that I'm trying to help within and everything I, try to do for them and yeah, it was really surprising and I'm really thankful to have it. We'll. That's wonderful. Now, when did you receive it the first time in who nominated you? Then I received it two years ago first time and actually real sure who nominated me the first time uh-huh I really I never knew. But this time I ended up knowing the foundation ended up nominating my ruin and this one thing. "Taking a look at the business model was and the business model that is to be with the next generation car coming down the road I think there's a couple people in general just marks in his group and also Michael Jordan Denny Hamlin that they said, they're so excited about what's going to happen in two thousand, twenty, two, they say, let's get this thing started in twenty, twenty one. So we can hit the ground running that we won't be one. Of those new teams, which there will be new teams that are now going to be able to not only to come to NASCAR and to be part of a charter race team, which is huge to have the charter to begin with. But also knowing that what they invest over their lifetime in Nascar, not only in in financial investment. But also the physical emotional investment with what you do as a racer that there's GonNa be something on the other end of it and it now that you're gonna be able to. Know have just a few cars in the stable how good the business model is going to become because the one huge step was to get the charter system going on and then to begin to bring the cost down in. So many ways shapes inform and one of the ways that happened it. Actually, it was something that NASCAR, probably wanting to try, but their hand was forced with. The pandemic, they had to go to these one day shows and I don't know what normal will be win. It will be, but you have to you have to believe that we're probably and we hope we're not going to be under these dire situations at this time next year but NASCAR has already committed to twenty eight one day shows, which just saves an owner an amazing amount. Absolutely and you're thoughts. Brad about another. We had any hamlet we talked about that last week. With Justin Marks, same situation where you've got a guy who understands the economics of racing and you and I've talked about it I I've said in John. Does this. Ah I wish I had a nickel for every press conference Ben. We're a businessman came in and said I'm GONNA run this like a real business and make we're GONNA see how that works. You know I'd be I could retire or no race team. If I had a nickel for every one of those press conference, every one of them has been affiliate. Yeah I. Them we heard these announcements in January and February, the team didn't exist but that's the way it goes I. Think it's great first of all the Michael Jordan Denny Hamlin or getting involved in ownership I think just marks getting involved in ownership is great. These people are racers and we also need some racers but also think one of the silver linings it had a negative impact on Justin marks and has actually had a negative impact on other teams as well. Is that will they thought we'll just by that Germain shorter. All of a sudden, there came a bidding war for their Germain shorter and and ultimately Michael Jordan Denny Hamlin got it, and then they added to Lisa charter from spire motorsports who owns one charter right now but no race team assets at the end of the season, they'll own a second charter because they're buying Levine family racing and has some race team assess but no cars because those belong to Joe. Gibbs inspire will control a third charter as well, and that's why Justin marks had to. Lisa Charter. But the fact that there has been bidding wars now for charters versus the fire sales for charters that we've seen in the past few years says a lot about the health of the sport and the direction it's going absolutely before we take a break. John. I want to get your thoughts on the retirement that was announced last week Clint Boyer is going to be stepping away from driving is going to move into the Fox booth next year. Do you think he's got the personality to pull this off? I don't know he's going to have to come out of his shell sooner. And let us know what's on his mind now I think it's a win win for everybody you know you wanNA drive or to be able to go out and recently we've seen drivers go out competitive you know I mean clipboard made the playoffs and made a run into him and that's a way to go out to where you know you can your head up pretty high we've seen drivers in the past it was really allow for financial reasons hold onto long and not go out someone at the top of their game. or at least near the top of their game. So I think this is just another one of those pieces of good news that we've gotten in twenty twenty. It's a win win situation for everybody involved. Yeah I think it's going to be. He's going to be fantastic what we saw during you know the whole Cova break when he was in there calling the IRA seeing with just I'll open it was I mean we all know we had a great personality, but he just absolutely knocked it out of the park as far as. It's going to breathe energy and chemistry into the booth that I don't think it's sad. You know over the last year or so and I love what Fox does I think they bring a cigarette product. Feel like it needs a guy like clint boyer to inject some more of the fun factor Yup absolutely just stick with us for another segment like to get your thoughts on the eight drivers we have remaining. "You you have fun with that, and here he is, and we've got a handful laughed and he's at that that eight win mark. There's no doubt about four performance was put a lot of effort and a lot of time a lot of money into developing this young man he's a huge talent and I just can't imagine him not getting his craft at this point speaking of a huge talent and a fan favorite I know that Matt Benedetto fans were rejoicing when the word came out that he was staying in the twenty one with an exit strategy and twenty, twenty two that would make it. Possible for Austin Syndrich to drive that race car, I know met Benedetto fans were on the edge of their seats, the edge and ledges of other places. It seems like they've been reined in and talk back in from those ledges and edges. At least for the next twelve months. Yes and and you know I a lot of that decision or at least some of it I think had to do with the fact that that you just don't wait until the middle of October to tell a guy that he said it's the breadline that he's going to be unemployed and I think team penske was cognizant of bath wood brothers Racing Wisconsin isn't Bat Your Ford performance was cognizant of that. There's a right way to do these kinds of things. It is a business after all there's a right way to do it and there's a not so right way to do it and cutting a guy a wildly popular guy like Matt Di Benedetto loose when there's virtually nothing else out there for at this eleventh hour, it's a tough way to do business and I think. High that's an expert on the subject of silly for sure speaking of of high bars to clear looks like we're going to have a gentleman joining the broadcasting ranks here in two thousand and twenty one clint boyer out of the fourteen car and going into the Fox booth. Any indications that you have of perhaps maybe who would climb behind the wheel that fourteen car postie I'll start with you? Yeah you know fourteen car we we we've speculated that clean is going to be stepping out of this car and I think that I don't think this is breaking news or a big shocker I. Think it's confirmation of what many had suspected along the way and my understanding on it is what I'm hearing is they're not gonNA look far from Stewart Haas racing There's some other drivers out there that that that are that are certainly in the mix. But when you when you look at what Chase Briscoe has done in the xfinity series, he's done everything asked of him and I just I just think I think it's an awful tough call not to put him in the car after what he's accomplished this year in the extended series. Well, my thing is, is that who is better? I mean he he called his shot at the beginning of the year saying that he felt that eight cup winds or eight xfinity wins set him up for Ryder the Cup series David I'm hard pressed to come up with somebody who's got a better finishing result this year to go in that car well, Y- when he said that preseason that he thought eight wins would get him into the conversation I. I. Know a lot of people all Copley myself included Kinda. Rolled is the city Al Kit eight expenditure wins you you have fun with that, and here he is, and we've got a handful laughed and he's at that that eight win mark. There's no doubt about four.

"Yeah. But but if you're trying to think of, I'm trying to think of other rides at are open they're not many. There's the brothers of course who knows what they're GONNA do but I. Right Tailor made for Coil Joy I mean they need sponsors he can bring sponsors which means that if Eric, Jones goes to the goes to Hendrick and collar simply doesn't come back I mean there's just forty three car and somebody like tied Dylan or even La- joy but probably somebody like ty dillon just like. Airway into the forty three car. Maybe that's the plan. Now since that team has very close ties to children's. Strolls on in like he owns the place and maybe they're just kind of waiting it out to see whether they're going to be able to get our Jones or they'll take their backup plan, which is tied Dylan, and Dillon doesn't go there. Then who knows maybe maybe Richard, childress makes a deal with brothers sent him over even though it's not a chevy. Theft could be interesting right there. Because, I don't know what else they do. especially with the next thing we're going to talk about. Daniel's whereas So Daniels warez surprise announcement here not that's ours is going to be in the Cup series although I find that a little bit of a surprise a little surprising. Yeah. but who is racing for brand new team? track house racing. Is owned by Track House Media Entertainment. The number will be ninety nine, no offense to Carl words, but it's not Carl Edwards most not the less. That's at the last time ninety nine. Okay. This somebody else run it after their cope okay. Garrett Smith Lead twenty eighteen. So here's the weird part about this. All right. So it's own Justin marks. He's the owner of the team. they're partnering with Richard childress racing. They will be co located at Richard childress racing. which petty already is. And so immediately, I was like Whoa Dude Red. Flag. Petty getting booed but I think the probably just kind of absorbing what they did for Germain. Little Bit I. Mean they're taking over the Germain role but you would think they would take over the Germain everything you would think But yeah, it's it's a situation where now you have to wonder what Pettis viability is I know it makes me wonder if that means something up with petty or not. You know they might be you'd have to think it has to be. Tied Dylan without a right exactly. You know they might have the room. They might have the room to to be able to accommodate an extra team and then the charter is being leased from spire motorsports spa was fire the one that bought Germain one. Think maybe. No. But they bought on the vine. Yeah. The about the Levin Racing One. So they least that out to the track house team the cool part of their to cool parts about it number one. Apparently, the team has said they're working with the marks foundation and the whole idea there is that they want to offer opportunities to minorities which obviously would be as evidenced by their choice of driver but the other cool part and the really cool part and the for me the thing that's Probably the brightest sign in terms of them being semi serious about this is they're bringing in store in the team. Just huge. Issues because he helped build up the help build up Michael Waltrip racing in their heyday. Yeah, and got out before they well, both floundered. Yeah. Exactly now is GonNa is this going to be competitive I? I mean I've got much higher hopes for the for the Jordan Hamlin team. Then have her track house racing but. Hey if you're gonNa Bring Time said the party. Then at least you are trying it looks like they're going to be trying and they're going with somebody like Daniel Suarez who I'm sure bring sponsorship to the table I'm sure. But at least at least they're not running out the ride. Right. Exactly. It's going to be a straightforward. WHO's this this this and this? Guy Who you look at. You're like, okay I can understand it's not like. Okay. This week gets Quin Hof and next week it's you know Quinn Hoff's brother. Lead, who are the other people that by rights I can't remember very same theme. Yeah So it's GonNa be it's GonNa be a Brennan Pool it's GonNa. Be Reed Sorenson S I'm going to be a revolving door at least they're picking one driver who I'm sure is bringing some sponsorship that makes it worth it for them to pick that driver. But if they really are doing it because they want to promote diversity in the sport and that's why they picked that makes makes it a little bit more encouraging yet. you know that that that at least doing it for the right reasons we'll find out the. So what do you think about this Atlanta Typo reconfiguration deal? Get this is why is this why they gave a second race? It's gotta be So apparently I have you seen the rendering by the way. No I have. Okay. You gotta check out the rendering. It is basically like Bruton Smith and SMI were like, okay. What do people like to do and they made an entire list on a chalkboard and they said the Brunssum Smith they're like, okay. Which one of these things would you like to we? I mean he's like what people like they like cake casinos what else are they like go-carts? Okay. They'll go karts they like concerts. Okay. Like concerts the. Parks allocated amusement park they like hotels. Okay I, know like racing. All Right which one do you WANNA do there in Atlanta And he said, what do you mean which one? That's the list? That's what we're doing. That's what we're doing. They're literally putting all of those things I just mentioned. Are they want to? At the property where Atlanta's. I love chaos I mean with a full amusement park in an outdoor like concert outdoor and indoor concert venue. Why? Why wouldn't you? At this point and they have like three hotels and they've got like An indoor go kart track I mean it's mayhem and where they'll get park I don't know cares it's for them the figure it out afterwards and so but as part of that rendering somebody Adam, sterner, somebody noticed that the in the full rendering, which is like kind of like an animation style shot that Atlanta was no longer a d shaped oval that it was back to traditional. Like Miami Homestead Style Oval that used to be before nineteen, ninety seven when they reconfigured it in up the banking, him made it basically a cookie cutter. So here's the thing. Maybe that's the case. Maybe they're going to put it back and that's fine but. I mean. You have to do something more exciting than that to merit to racist and I think what? Is People are going to come here for the other things too. So we'll be able to fill the stance and I might be right I don't know. You know I'd almost be more excited if they did auto club with it and and chop the track down but not not to like Martinsville sell short-track but you know more like Darlington style short-track. Like right over a mile right around mile or over a mile. Probably be cool. Just have all segment just have all stages race different. Different disciplines that's how lands sets itself apart. Now. Hear me out. Your Dirty. Row Course. Osvaldo. Stage one short-track stage to ruffle stage three, the one and a half I. Dislike that being perfectly honest. I've I've heard worse ideas in my life. Exactly And don't don't say that too loud because NASCAR will do that. Yeah, exactly. Yeah. No less less will this into existence I think you need to I think you need to pull a Michael? Jordan on this thing and just start tweeting it. Yeah. Hey, you cowards in Atlanta them all. Hey Nascar stop being a little bitches do it all exactly. I swear to God. They will. They will get to that point at some some juncture in the road ahead. I didn't know Atlanta had this much land that they can build this day pantries bullshit big big ass parking lots, and stuff. Talk off go.

"The original equipment manufacturers in the world saw what we were doing in what we were capable of creating and looked at us, and said those guys we want to be in business with and so revenue advantages almost ten acts what it was in two thousand nine, when we first put a shovel in the ground at the at the multiplex sight out there because that business is a showpiece Gopro multiplexes a showpiece it. This is what we're capable of doing the we. We get the right opportunities. We get the right people behind us and we've run with it so since then we've been able to take over operations of the go kart track down at homestead. Miami speedway working with IFC NOW NASCAR down. There has been great i. think there's an opportunity to continue to do that. Attracts across the country, and you know in our import or distribution business has grown a ton. We're starting to promote events, and it continues to grow so kyle. Larson came to the motor plex one night when we first opened it and I got to talk to him, and I said you know, do you? Miss Sprint car racing NASCAR deal and he says. I said. You know I've always wanted to own a team. And you know. We were just talking on pit road a Gopro and we just decided. We're going to start Larson marks racing fast forward five years we on forty outlaw races, and a second points are debut year, and those kinds of things i. don't know if they would have happened if I wasn't able. Able to create relationships with people in the sport at the motor plex. So yeah I mean I I love that business. It's It's something that I think the industry is proud of and people. Go there. We have great events. There shot commercials for Pepsi and we've done reality shows, and we've done sponsor events with farmers and and young brands and everything so. Charles Barkley out there we've had shaun white out there and he's been really fun as a race course. How much pride does it bring? That has become a great tool for racers to go down there and use either just to keep busy or use it to knock the rust off or for young racers to use as a tool that's gotta bring a sense of pride to that. You've been able to provide that locally. Locally here in North Carolina one hundred percent I mean it is a special source of pride when you get on social media and you see Jimmy, Johnson and William Byron Kevin Harvick, and these guys out there, but at the same time. You know we've been open long enough now. We're coming up on our eighth anniversary. We've been open long enough now that there are kids that started racing at the motor flex, we opened. are legitimate professional race car drivers all over the world now, and that's been really really cool to see that the few kids racing in Europe that started at the motor plex. You Know Austin started kind of poking around the motor plex, and we kind of took over the race track for the first time you've got guys came into town and use the motor plex early in their developmental careers to build their craft, and then William Byron is first season out a legends car..

"You touched on so much there, but to put you on the spot for a minute. If Nascar could be doing one thing differently or if there's one thing that the sport should be. Be Focusing on now. Take the pandemic. Let's just say if you know things were normal so to speak. If there's one thing you would like to see the sport focus on or do differently. That really stands out to you. What would it be? That's a tough question. I mean I think they're doing it Kelly. I think that it's getting cost in line, I mean. I think we can't forget I do look at this thousand feet up because you have to get outside of the bubble I. Mean You'd have to get outside. You have to see where NASCAR stacks up global landscape of sports properties and you have. Have to look at all that stuff and take into context because it's just it's easy to just lose sight of stuff so I. Think the most important thing is getting cost in line, so those sport is a compelling property for companies to invest in because without sponsorships without numerous and involved and passionate and dedicated and committed sponsors. This sport doesn't go. It just doesn't go, and the can't turn into an arms race between Toyota Ford and Chevrolet. WHO's GONNA spend eighty versus one hundred million. WHO's to do? WHO's GonNa? Open up engineering, entire engineering divisions, and all the power is concentrated in the C. Suite among these. These aliens. They can't get to that point now. That's not to say that we should have landscape where anybody can just buy a car and hire driver. Go Win! The Daytona five hundred I need it has to be. This is the top of the top, so it has to the cream to rice, the top for sure, but the door has to be open for for sponsors. Door has to be open for new. Orleans and the door has to be open for new owners, and that all comes down to cost controls and I think that you know sort of thinking about this. This is a deep rabbit hole. But thinking about this the other day, and I was thinking you know to me. NASCAR is an entertainment property first, and foremost that is what fueled. It's its meteoric rise in popularity in the nineties into the two thousand is it was a compelling entertainment property and to get back to that I think the focus has to be on the quality of the entertainment factor, and the advancement of technology is killing that in my opinion, now technology purists will say it was always been about innovation SARS been about technology well in the sixties, seventies and the eighties technology was things that would brothers were doing smoke a unique Allen Kalicki and these guys were working on carburetors they were working on. On certain suspension geometry's and tires Arrow and things like that, but all the technology they're working on the got him to. The front was applicable to streetcars. People could walk into their garage and look at their. You're eighty-five Monte Carlo or whatever it is, and they could see that technology on cars well. The increase in technology is not linear..

"On your host Kelly. Crandall I've got a really great guest today to discuss racing from a different perspective, and that's former Nascar series winner Justin marks. I wanted to have justin on the show to dig into whether he misses racing. Because Justin decided to end his NASCAR tenure in two thousand, eighteen, saying he wanted to focus on business and other ventures. What we did discuss his racing career, but it was brief I had an inkling that if I just teed justin up, he would offer some great opinions on how he views Nascar from a business standpoint and the reason I suspected. That is because Justin is a great follow on twitter for that exact reason. If you head over to his twitter account at Justin Marks D. G.. You'll see.

"Element may be saying Ellen may actually not be saying so alleges confirmed the rumors we heard before that movie ended up being scrapped that we finally got a movie that really focused on Arkham asylum <hes> in a significant way and even though that that place was part of Batman begins. It wasn't really the Arkham asylum as we've come to know and comic fans have come to love it because Arkham asylum is famous for housing housing Batmans rogues gallery and so in this case we would have been able to see an aged Bruce Wayne and Batman in Arkham asylum where a lot of the villains he's face were locked up in there and something that no Batman movie has has tackled yet and it's really kind of a shame that we won't get to see it play out that sounds like something something I would have liked to have seen in. I I know there was a script years ago. From Justin marks called supermax that would have had <hes> green <hes> way which one of who it was green area narrow. Yes it was green Arrow stuck in Arkham asylum having the fight or it wasn't Arkham asylum the supermax prison with other baddies and he was gonna at the fighter fighting his way out <hes> but this sounds interesting. I I feel like our biggest loss from you. Know the whole Zach Snyder D._C. Universe stuff is US knocked getting this Ben Affleck Batman Solo Film. What what do you guys think I'm curious? here's what would have been I. I'm the idea of Batman being trapped with all of his best films at one location is a scenario we've seen the video games and comics and never on film and I would have liked to have seen it but at the same time I also feel like a clean break is but Batman maybe needed after Justice League so it really hard for me to say that I I would prefer to see this but I I would travel to alternate universe where to happen to watch it. If given opportunity hit scientists I mean yeah and it's probably worth mentioning uh-huh earlier this summer we wrote about a rumor from the Hollywood reporter talking about how Matt Reeves Batman movie is rumored to have at least two villains and maybe even even up to six and I think we speculated time that may be six villains. I mean six villains a lot for a comic book movie so maybe the way that get up to six villains could be featured in that film is for this Robert Patterson's version of Batman to visit Arkham asylum or or something you know have a scene there so maybe Maybe we'll get a version of this. <hes> you know in this version of of the next Batman Movie I mean I love to read the script so if anybody has a script. You have my email address Peter at social dot COM okay <hes>. Let's let's move on from D._C. To the other side of the Marvel Universe vericel talk about venom to they're searching for director who's going to direct this film banned yeah so the latest that we've heard is that there are three people who have met with Sony any pictures to direct venom to ruin Fleischer's. WHO's the director of the first movie is not coming back to direct the sequel so Sony is looking for right now at three different people rupert Rupert Wyatt who directed rise of the planet of the apes and captive state recently Travis Knight who directed.
