California's epic melting snowpack means cold, deadly torrents ahead of Memorial Day weekend
"California safety officials are warning that some of the states rivers could be deadly this Memorial Day weekend. Safety officials say California rivers fed by the mass of Sierra Nevada snow pack over the winter have been turned into deadly torrents, at least 7 people have died or gone missing this spring, Justin Sylvia of the Sacramento fire department. This year we're seeing higher water. Faster water and colder water. And Sylvia says some people are taking unnecessary risks. We're seeing a lot of people not wearing life jackets. That's our big message this year is put a life jacket on. With this higher water, you can see snags out there. There's more of that from the surface that you can not see. Sylvia says Sacramento has already had 20 water rescues this year, nearly as many as all of 2022. I'm Donna water

First Republic Bank Seized and Sold to JPMorgan Chase
"JPMorgan bought almost all of first republic's assets. After that bank fell now, rewind a little bit. Remember this banking crisis that the U.S. financial system was going through, spooked a lot of people. We saw Silicon Valley bank fail. We saw signature bank, be taken over by regulators. Now we're seeing something similar from first republic, which also found itself in Dire Straits after the fed rapidly raised interest rates, and they had a bunch of bad stuff on their books. So we're going to talk about this. Jamie Dimon says, hey, this chapter of the banking crisis is over. We've stepped in. We've got this thing, got it under control, don't worry, everybody. But I don't know. I don't know if everybody is fully on that page just yet. There could be more shoes to fall. But Jamie Dimon says, no, there's only so many banks, maybe three that we're doing this shady business. And we're going to be A-okay. So anyway, I'm going to talk this straight to Jen. What do you think? Do you think this phase of the banking crisis is indeed over or do you think more stuff is about to happen? No, imagine I said yes, I think it's over. I think the two of you would just limp best me. It's worrying. That Jamie Dimon is saying, you know, this is all over. It's all under control now with and with no other information to back that statement up and I was reading this story. I just thought about, you know, how we're calling for more proof of reserves, more transparency when it comes to crypto and crypto exchanges and it's becoming more and more prevalent that we should be calling for the same thing in the traditional financial sector. I think that the banks and customers would really benefit from this.

The Real Reason for Tucker Carlson’s Abrupt Departure From Fox
"The real reason for Tucker Carlson's abrupt departure from Fox remains a little unclear and there's a bunch of different hypotheses or theories circulating you saw one that was actually well here, the article, this one is well, I mean, can we really trust it? I think it's from The Guardian. The Guardian in Britain. What does it say? Well, it says that Tucker Carlson's vulgar language in texts contributed to fox's firing of him. And what's the vulgar language and who was he referring to? So apparently he was referring to Sidney Powell and some of it. He also referred to Murdock and other parts of it. So, and apparently he was just a very mean guy is what they were saying. Well, I can see if he made that disparaging comments about Rupert Murdoch at this if it got back to Murdoch, Murdoch would be upset. I'm his boss. That kind of thing, I mean, it seems pretty clear that Tucker is a little bit of an early guy. And I say this because in fact, you made this point to me that when Justin B wells sent me very insulting text, this was in the immediate aftermath of 2000 meals. He was speaking in this kind of vulgar, brutish language, and I said to Debbie, I'm like, do you think that Tucker's producer would do this on his own? And she's like, well, it probably Tucker talks like that. So this is like the, this is the talk around the office, and there's a woman named Abby grossberg, who's apparently suing Tucker, claiming that there was all this very vulgar sexist talk going on in the office. Who knows? I mean, I have seen an article as a completely different theory that has nothing to do with any of this. And actually says that it's Tucker's Christianity. And by Christianity, what I mean is not tacos personal devoutness or anything like that. But Tucker gave a speech at heritage right before he got fired. And he basically said this isn't just a political fight. He goes, this is a spiritual war. And the other side isn't just wrong. They're basically like on the devil's side. They're evil. As we've said, yes, exactly.

The Trish Regan Show
Did Abby Grossberg's Lawsuit Play a Role in Tucker's Fox Exit?
"Else, though, going on, meanwhile, Maria bartiromo, wonderful, wonderful woman. I worked with her both at CNBC. And then, of course, at Fox. Maria bartiromo had a producer named Abby grosberg and Abby, then later went over to work on Tucker Carlson's show, and Abby sued as this dominion thing unfolded, alleging that there was a ton of discrimination that there was a ton of sort of harassment, the environment that she was working in was highly problematic on Tucker Carlson's show. So in that discovery process, you wonder if more things came out. I mean, we know already. You've seen some of the texts that went back and forth. Tucker didn't seem to have a whole lot of faith in management, and he was complaining that management was so bad that we're going to take the whole place down because they didn't really understand where the viewer was at, et cetera, et cetera. One wonders if more stuff came out in that discovery process for this other lawsuit that might have just been enough for the Murdochs to say, okay, we really don't want this guy here anymore. Not only do we want not want him, we don't want his producer, Justin wells. So they sent both of them packing. It's honestly just shocking. And I think it's unfortunate because it didn't need to get to this.

"Begin with the Canadian broadcast corporation, which is a little bit upset because Elon Musk dared to say on their Twitter profile what they are, which is state funded media. 69% state funded was actually what Elon went with. Nice. Well, this is not going over well. Look at what the prime minister Justin Trudeau had to say. He runs to American billionaires. The tech giants that they continue to defend in committee. Conservatives are always there to defend them. So when they're trying to attack a foundational Canadian institution, the fact that he has to run to American billionaires for support to attack Canadians says a lot. Okay, okay. So they're all worked up. Elon's just telling the truth on this one. Let me give you some of the numbers. If you look at their financial report from 2022, they got 1.24 billion from the government, wow. I mean, that's a lot of money. And 651.4 million from advertising. You tell me what kind of business it is, right? I mean, let's just call a spade a spade. And you see, when it's a government funded media organization, I'm sure you have some very well meaning journalists there, but look, you know, bite the hand that feeds you. You got 1.24 billion coming in from the state, chances are you're doing a lot of the state's bidding. Aren't you? I mean, this is just reality. And it's worth having that transparency. Why shouldn't we know this? We see something that comes from the CBC in this way. We know this is an organization that is funded by the government, primarily funded by the government. So they have their bias, right? And I have mine.

Everywhere looking towards the budget, of course, Justin, just over two weeks time now, what action would you like to be seeing from the government to try and resolve some of these issues? There are a whole range of measures, the government needs to do. It isn't all about money. The grocery coded adjudicator that oversees supply chain relationships. We they're talking about moving it into the competition and markets authority. We say it should be independent and the strength and to oversee good supply chain and relationships. It is about the energy support scheme. It would help that would be including more sectors in it, including farming and it would be progress. But it's about things like the national grid, the grid connection actually critical to producing protected crops is about having your ability to generate lecture, use the CO2 and the heat to your greenhouse and be able to sell the electricity into the grid. "Then you're gonna come over and do everything for me. I took a little pause when my best friend Justin just said Barbara was the smart one because frankly, that's what everybody said our entire life. How has it been a new auntie? Oh, it's so much fun. I'm totally in awe of watching Barbara become a mom. She's so natural. I flew up there as fast as I possibly could. I remember go to target and purchase the pampers and all the other things you need, but to watch her become a mom is just such a gift and to watch our kids fall in love with each other. It's just one of those things in life that you can never predict how happy it's gonna make you oh my gosh. So sweet. You guys have done something really amazing. You have a new book called the superpower sisterhood. Yes. What inspired you guys to write a children's book? Well, we actually wrote another children's book first called sisters first, which was a love letter to our sisters. And on that show, other women would come or girls would come and listen to us, and they'd say, I don't have a sister, but I came with my best friend. And we would say, well, she's your sister. She's your chosen sister. And so we wanted to write a book about sisterhood that's both about our sisters that are blood sisters or our chosen family, our sisters, that walk alongside us and make us braver than we ever believed we could be. Oh, that is great. And you know, this book is about sisters who gain superpowers, wherever they're together, and what superpowers what you two have, if you are characters in the book. Well, I love that. Yeah, these powers are kind of not so super like one is great at math. One is great at dancing, design, and then together like an incredible, powerful chorus that because of their sister, their powers are amplified. But Barbara's power when we were little was math. And in fact, when Justin said she's the smart one, it took me back to my therapist chair. I'm sorry. She actually only missed she only missed one math problem on her SAT. One,.

"What you want is emotional support. Someone you can call and I get on the phone and I'm like, man, Justin you know, this whole journey I'm on, it's really hard and I had a terrible weekend. Let me tell you what I did. I woke up in the morning and I know I was supposed to go on a walk instead I watched TV. I opened up a bag of I went to the store bought a bag of cookies, ate the whole damn thing, and then it was crazy from there. And then I did this and I did that. And then Justin, who I know 'cause I enlisted somebody that really cares about me. Is on the other line saying, look, that's sucks. I'm sorry you went through that. You're going to do okay. I care about you. I know you care about you. You're going to make it through. You're going to make it through. That's the kind of support that you're looking for. That makes a big difference. If you can afford it, a therapist is even better. Of course. I mean, that because we don't want a therapist and do even better than what Justin just said back to you as a therapist is going to help you dig deeper into why. Of course. And that's what I mean, that's their profession. They know how to do that well, and then also how to be that supportive of trauma or some other things that 100%. And that's so key is that you have somebody that helps you get to the root cause. The other type of person that I see that's really successful with this too is and this is the second step is the ditching the motivation hype and understanding the importance of discipline and habits. Yes. Again, this is another thing that is another knock at biggest loser another reason why I don't like that show is that it's very I mean I've tune in on it and I get goose bumps when all the hugging and the emotional and the playbacks of the memories and they do such a good job of giving you the feels initially. But the problem with that is it's fleeting. You know, you're happy, sad, motivated, omelet. That ebb and flows all the time. And if you're going to have long-term success, you need to build habits and discipline and routine and rituals in order to be consistent. And I can understand why people are so obsessed with motivation because it feels good. It's easy. It feels good. Yeah, when you're motivated, when you're motivated, you don't need to talk yourself into working out. Like when you're motivated, you're going to make the best quote unquote best food choices, right? Because you're motivated. When I motivated man, I work my ass off. I do everything I need to, I'm a great dad. I'm a great husband. I'm cleaning the yard. I'm motivated, right? That's not the hard part, okay? The hard part is when that feeling, which is fleeting, nobody's permanently motivated. It doesn't work that way, right? When that feeling is gone, that's when the challenge happens. Now what do I do? So how do we go around? How do we get around feelings because feelings were human? We've got all kinds of feelings wrapped all up in that. Discipline, discipline means you do it anyway. Okay, so that sounds easy. Well, how do I build discipline? Like any skill you start very small and you build upon it..

Well then george peyton you know made the right call by getting what i think is going to be an all pro. Cornerback and drew lock does well. But if if justin feels better than drew lock and justin feels. It is a really good quarterback. Then there's just nothing the broncos are going to be able to say to to make that pick right now zac. I'm asking a controversial question. A lot of the hooligans. Don't enjoy this question today. Because they think it's kinda crazy but prediction time are who's gonna have the better Career patrick ser tan or justin fields. Now if fields goes on to be a average to above average quarterback and that means 'certain has to be like a hall of fame corner. Because we judge corner so much differently than quarterbacks. But i think it's a valid question. We're certainly following bradley. Chubb and josh allen their careers. Yeah and that's why. I think it's so hard to bet against the positional value..

But i think it's a valid question. We're certainly following bradley. Chubb and josh allen and their careers. Yeah and that's why. I think it's so hard to bet against the positional value. Here you know a lot of people view justin as a top ten pick and if you get a top ten. Pick a quarterback and you don't have to trade for him and you need a quarterback. That's so hard to pass up for that pass up on justin field that a franchise quarterback meaning making a couple of pro bowls throughout his. You're not even fantastic. Which is that type of career. Even a hall of fame career from patrick stirred ser tan. Probably isn't gonna live up to it. Unless the broncos are able to find that quarterback that is that caliber and then people will forget about it but really it doesn't matter how good justin or patrick's tana's if justin feels good. Unfortunately than the pick is still going to be viewed as bad so tan has to be champ bailey. Justin feels has to be a boy. I don't know. I mean just kind of an andy dalton type guy kind of an average type player. Yeah yeah a jay cutler you know i think he made a couple of pro bowls three pro bowls And you know chicago. They have their roots there. And of course jaaz is roots and denver to so Yeah and and it's crazy when you when you think of would you rather have chant bailey or jay cutler. You're like what way rather have chance. But then you think of well. What if the quarterback position is the case keenum's of the world's for the next ten or fifteen years. It's true it is. It's an interesting thought To see how this but patrick's retain can just like returned thirty interceptions for touchdowns this thing to bed right and it's yeah won a game they didn't over. It'll be a hall of famer after this year. Love zach my friend always appreciate it. Love fall what you do. It's it's just one of these absolutely foolish things just like Parlor everybody jumped on parlor. And i think parlour. Nah i don't think parlors the reason. Why won't chase these pro conservative free speech platforms outside of something like gab. Right parlor was our free speech and all this other stuff parlor before it got nuked. Its controls were wonky. Now were relaunched. Nobody uses it anymore because it got nuke from orbit getter is probably a month or two away from getting nuked for morbid as well. There's a lot of weirdos on there. A lot of the people they claim are on gabar on also on getter. I think the American people deserve to know who's who's actually calling the shots, because when you look at what Vice President Harris did On that disaster of a trip to Central America and and her refusal to answer the question about not going to the borders. She doesn't want to go to the border, Sean because it's a mess down there, and it will bring attention to the worsening of the situation, not the betterment of the situation as they pretended. During the campaign. The numbers general speak for themselves, don't they? I mean, we're going. We're going to shatter at 25 year high of illegal immigrants coming into this country, And on top of that, we're facing record inflation We haven't seen in 15 years. Record high prices on everything. Energy prices gallon of gasoline up a dollar a gallon. That's that's real money. Uh, that's impacting every family in the country. I mean these policies or disastrous and he's not been in power long, right. Right. And policies have impact on the American people from a security. You know, if you remember Sean in 2016. Sort of the two number one thing for the economy. And then remember, Isis was a big, bad deal. And, you know, it could be argued that President Trump did to get a job by given the military the authority to go out and crush Isis what they did, which they did. Now, you know, we're heading back in that direction right with National security coming back to the forefront as a domestic issue, because when you when you minimize our our energy output, all of the steps going on with respect to the oil gas industry are Catastrophic for this country, and it puts us back into a situation where we're competing with for oil with all these countries that either or contentious or want to do us harm, like Iran, and we are in a real bad spot right now, with Justin just, you know, four or five months of undoing the previous policies that were that were gaining traction or serving the American people will And, you know, I'm sorry. "Leslie, and before you go to the phones to other questions, one is returning to the subject of a reincarnated kids. They come out with these incredible stories. They're terrorized and try to remember what the phrases were that They kind of intimate that they're not supposed to talk about it that it's against the rules for them to reveal this stuff, and it made me wonder. What's going on there is there. What are the rules? Why do some people come back and doesn't mean we all do our only some and then? Makes me also wonder how many cases there are here in the in the West and the U. S and religious households where the parents just tell him to shut up. This is demonic. I don't want to hear about it, and then the kids eventually outgrow it. And And the memories fade. Yeah. I mean, I'm sure that happens, George because you know, even with the kids, we cover that there was one parent who was very resistant to it. So if you've got two parents, I mean many, many times, the kid's air told Oh, you're just dreaming. It's just a dream and then It's sort of shuts down. The kid might might give a few other memories, but the parents think it's just sort of fantasy, and they don't think anything of it so It's the parents that have the alertness and the awareness of the service. Strangeness of what's happening in that kind of allow their child to express it. They're not Pushing them to do it. But like with these Children that just comes out very naturally at the moment when the child feels like there's somehow comes up. Oh, yeah, I'm sure especially in this culture George. There's so many families that Justin Just because of their attitudes. The child never really comes out with all of it, and it just gets buried. I think there are other cultures, of course, where it's more expected, like and you know Asian countries India and Burma and places like that. And those were the countries that were research was originally done. On these cases by young Stephenson. In from the University of Virginia. Because in those cultures there were there was a freedom for people to talk about it because it's part of their belief system, so that makes it easier. But that's not the case in this country, so we don't know how many times it happens that Cases. They're shut down, but I'm sure it happens quite a lot. One UFO question. Um, you know, you and your colleagues wrote that story, December 2017. I haven't talked to you on the air about since then, but you know, it's changed UFO subject forever, so many ripples that were still feeling. Can you just share with us what the experience was like and seeing what a profound effect it's had on this subject that you've covered for so long. Yeah. I mean, it's been really, really exciting. I mean that story, You know, for me as a journalist who's been covering UFO's for 20 years and to suddenly you know, I don't Yeah, I've been about 20 at that time. So suddenly be breaking news on the front page of The New York Times News That was really significant. It was like the pinnacle of my career as a journalist. I mean, I never had a moment like this. It was absolutely Life changing, really. On gifts? Yeah. Which wonderful to see the effect that it had. I mean, I'm just so glad that You know, the story was able to change things the way it has, and I think the subsequent stories we did also One. A year later about the Roosevelt cases also had a big assessed. You know where the Navy was actually willing to acknowledge that these things were happening, and we got freedom of information Act, you know, reports from those cases. Yeah, I mean, it's been really Amazing ride George and It was just thrilling and exciting, hard work. But really, really thrilling to see what it happened with it. I don't know how else to describe it. And how is the New York Times on this topic now in general, I mean, for you know, decades ago, you'd see a story or two here and there that they take right down the middle seriously, and then it was sort of a forbidden topic for a long time. I can imagine what a heavy lift it was to get this through. Editors and I've heard stories about pushback. I know that, you know, looking at the readership, the reactions that these were highly read stories that they must have made a dent and people realize that the paper that while this topic is of interest to the public, but I doubt I tend to doubt that there I hard one assigned a UFO story every month. No, exactly. I mean, there's a very, very high bar in New York times on. That's one of the reasons that the stories carry so much weight. You know, you can't just sort of go in and write about the latest thing like you might be able to do in a block or something. You know, it's got to have There's a lot of need to. It's got to be government related. It's got to be something really new and exciting. It's gotta be ground, breaking those kinds of stories that there don't go for, but We are my colleague Ralph Blumenthal and I are always looking for what we could bring next to the New York Times, But we know That most of the stuff we ran across. We're not gonna be able to bring to the New York Times. It's really frustrating, so we have to get it at a certain level. That to interest the editors there and but they're always there interested. I mean, they want additional stories on this topic. We have definitely changed the attitudes of the New York Times They are now recognizing. This is a valid subject worthy of coverage, and they're willing to do more of it. As long as we can find the stories that they Field to be or so you know, at the level that the times need them to be at and so that's our task. Let's take a couple of calls west of the Rockies.
