"I don't think that the ceiling is super high. I'm 'cause like you've talked about. He has struggled with efficiency and we could see that with more defensive. Attention had going his way this year because he really don't have a lot else in terms of pass catching options but just in terms of like target potential. I think he could be looking at one hundred twenty thirty targets which seems crazy But yeah. I'm really really excited for him. Do you happen to know what the targets throughout one are for the chargers last year he on funding for the who specifically on the chargers for one hundred hundred. This okay anthony. Winds offense yeah Yeah i can find that real quick and so the next guy is the swift And so his targets. was super encouraging Listen to this list. Since twenty seventeen here are the players who retargeted on at least twenty three percent of the routes and were twenty one years old or younger. We've got justin jefferson twenty three percent christian. Mccaffrey twenty three point. Seven percent saquon. Barkley twenty four percent and deondraye swift twenty four point eight percent how that is pretty good. It's a good list to be i. Yeah jamie let me let me. Just ask you about the andre swift. It seems like heath is super high on him. I'm not sure how you compared to heath in terms of andre swift but anthony. Lynn always gets his running backs involving the passing game. And that's a great thing. He also is kind of a fair to say. He's a doer back. Our bbc got a coach. So do you think that's going to be the case. What kind of workload do you think the andre swift is going to get. I need to lead the team in touch. But you do bring up a point. That concerned me as the signing of jamaal williams. You know the fact that they released. Kerryon johnson i think is a good thing but the signing of jamaal williams who doesn't have the the. The upside of the andre swift put can play a similar game like the andre swift. Because of what he can do as a pass catcher again not the same type of player but can do the same type of things so i wonder what they're gonna do with jamaal williams. How much you're gonna use more williams and then the thing i fear what the andre swift is i think he's going to be a fantastic pass catcher. But what is the touchdown potential. What does the yardage potential the offensive line clearly is going to be good with the addition of pencil But the team's going to be that and the passing game while i grew jacob. I i love to hopkinson. It's probably going to struggle. So do they do. They score no points. This could be one of the worst offenses in football aside from these two guys And so i think swift is a very good round pick it's just. He's in that for me that kind of mess of guys that you could rank in in any way possible of swift of acres of nausea harass. You wanna throw edwards helaire and their joe mixing nick chubb. Npr they're all kind of in that. Same range of you know the swing through eighteen overall So you know anywhere from ten eighteen overall you can justify taking them as is or you can probably way to get them in the back end around too but i mean. I love the andrea swift. Npr a little bit more concerned about him and nine yard. Just because Jacob how would you rank d'andre swift jonathan taylor and cam akers john taylor and just bring significantly more upside And so i think would have to add those two ahead of him..

"You. I don't know about the good thing. Listen i want to end with this. Because i think people who don't know basically who you are about you and about your career. I mean i think it's the coolest thing that here you are even though you're not in the super bowl that know you're you're representing a big american company. You know sleep number of a well admired company and they look at you and say we want austin ekeler to represent us. It's a little. You've kinda come a long way in three years because because in your first training camp i remember that you know Anthony lynn coach of the chargers was basically you know he. He really didn't know who you were. You were wearing number three which you don't for those who know you know who have even a elementary knowledge of football running backs in the nfl. Do not wear number three. Yeah we asked is rules. Yeah but i want. I just i want to hear the story that you told me this year or so ago. About how you got. Anthony lynn to notice you. Yeah so long story. Short was ota's and as we're wrapping up and we're about to go home for a month happened for training camp and i went up to anthony lynn's office and out so nervous. I remember sweating. I remember. I remember just trying to talk his now so nervous. I never talked to him before. And i just jumbled out like told him. I i love coaching style or something like that but the real reason is like i asked him. What do i need to do to make this team. He like you know what was on that he always knew. I was a player but he told me that. Go see coach to protect the quarterback. Don't fumble as basically i got more out of that hole a special teams cat Teams goats and so that really resonate with him. That i went up there and did that until training like after i made the teams like escape came up and asked me like what i need to team. So can't show a house going out doing everything. I could to make the team. That's kind of been my progression to get to this point. I've just been doing everything. I can to make an impact On the team and then also community and now hoping sleep sleepnumber represents you know some some beds that are gonna be donating to some health. Care workers Going down to the super bowl. Austin ekeler a pleasure talking to you Really enjoyed getting to know you over the last few years and and hopefully you will be back in very good health this year and i believe that you will be in very good health because you will be well rested won't you. That is one hundred. Correct peter all the best physician my thanks to justin jefferson christian mccaffrey and austin ekeler for their time and their thoughts hope he got caught up about a with a little bit of what's going on in their worlds. So that's it for this week's podcast come back next week. We have a little bit more information on. What is coming up in this offseason. It's going to be crazy.

"Major. College haven't played at lsu your last year at lsu. Obviously you played with joe burrow which i mean watching that team in twenty nineteen that look like an nfl team to me more than any offense than i ever remember watching in college football. That offense seem to be an nfl offense. Your deep strike capability throughout the game throughout those games with borough and so i just wanna ask you. Do you think playing at that level with you. Know obviously with a guy who then went onto the nfl. Joe brady is your offensive coordinator with carolina and then going catching balls from the first pick in the draft joe burrow. Do you think that helped your transition to the nfl. One hundred percent. You know having to coach. Joe brady coming in with a postal offense You know going to combine being You know about concepts in About routes A new majority of You know are pretty much had ever single game down packed a just was different terminology. That nfl team juice so Having a year headstart being everybody else in college level It kinda kinda played out perfectly in having joe burrow. Dotes me in me. Getting fifteen hundred yards You know that was just the start of it. How he helped. He held me reach a to the first round And i'm definitely grateful for him. So it's come to lsu in Brain the brain of skills that he had to people always wonder this and they always ask questions. Like this which i find totally fascinating but by the end of your season added. Lsu just you're you're dominating everybody your dominating the great teams dominated alabama offensively. And i wonder have you ever thought irv you guys were sat around. Did you ever think men. I wonder what it'd be like if we lined up against an nfl team. What are you really. I mean with that. Lsu team how would you have done playing in an nfl game. I feel like we did perfectly fine to be honest if look at it. cloud in the backfield cloud is in a in a super bowl. You know he's he's doing his own thing Joe burrow he got hurt but You know before he got hurt. He was up for rookie year Be on vote for Nile Guides up for top top. Pick in the draft. Got hers is gonna be a top pick in the draft. So there's a there's a lot of guys out team that that went high in the drought that is going high in the draft That would have been a big part if we would actually play the nfl. Not arthur like we did a good job. Flynn nfl team. Is there a reason why you think that. So many receivers right now are so. Nfl ready When they leave college football A lot of not a lot of receivers at that You know do that but you know if they if receiver coming end do that. I just like they know their determination. You know they have. They have that spark in their mind. That that something in their lives that that puts them over the top that that gives them the extra boost guard there and just keep performing at a high level in know. Just being With the coaches being with the players that i have had been with lsu They just really just got me perfectly ready for the nfl with running with being able to catch the ball with body control. A lot of stuff. That that i did at the shoe. that that you know let onto to being The player i am today in the nfl. Real a big seven on seven hundred seven player in high school. We didn't do a lot of seven seven's alice. I was very small high school at that one. Seven e In highschool wasn't very was very tall Very explosive wasn't very fast so When i got to lsu. That's when i. I've really equipped all those police. You know being able to run fast being able to catch the ball running routes so all those things came later on in my career I had to work hard for those things. in the they didn't come easily but You know as the more determination that i put towards the game You know the more. I wanted to prove people wrong You know the better. I got more understanding on that Of the game You know just being in a corner with all of these people to help me out It just can't be easily. So here's my last football question. Lsu has really gotten to have a great fraternity of receivers and you know i notice. It's it's almost light defensive players at miami you know maybe fifteen twenty years ago ray lewis and all those guys but but what. I really think it is is. I think it has something to do with the way a guy like jarvis. Landry thinks he's analysis. You receive receivers obviously as you know and jarvis landry if he notices guys on his team are either slack off in some ways or not doing it. He doesn't care who they are. It doesn't care what position they play it. It doesn't matter him. He is going to jump down their throat. And you know there. Is this kind of this worker. Ethos among lsu receivers in my opinion That that really is a great trade for this next level in that you're so competitive n. You're really kind of feisty. I noticed that with you this year. You have no problem with with you know stomping around a little bit and telling everybody. Hey listen this is. This is big. We gotta do this. What is it about is it. Lsu d think and what you bring to the nfl from there One yet it could be from from lsu Just being from louisiana period we carry. We carried out. Feistiness that that fire in you know just us just being born and raised with You know we. We always had the attitude You know that eager to garden Performing our best ability but it also has to do with the love that we have for the game You know. I know jarvis odell They love the game just like me. I love the game so me going out. That losing is not an option. You know we wanna win one Put on the best show for for ourselves in of for the people watching so If it if it takes getting on the starting quarterback that have been there for years or if it takes us getting on alive in for for something You know that's that's just what it has to be As called leadership in a way that you're going to get far in in your career. It's amazing that you're twenty one years old and you're talking like that. It's kinda so you come to us today. from from eminem's you're representing eminem's and i'm a little bit bit of an eminem hall as i think most people in the united states are but i wanted to ask you when you're a kid so you and guy is a kid were you. Were you a candy bar guy as a kid digest sweet tooth with your with your introduction to eminem. Mlm's i'll like him knows me knows is one of my favorites I'll leave remember by Are getting immunized for halloween in just killing them as soon as i am so You know imminent is definitely been Been good which is working with them being part of a what they have going on. You know we're trying to bring excitement in the world of connect people all around the world so a lot of things have been happening over this past year That has been devastating so just trying to put some smiles on people's faces and You know just just have fun. Also we have new store and disney springs to the lot of people gotta check out. It's not allowed of win. So maybe people for people who listen to this might be going to the super bowl they can. They can just take a little drive over from tampa and go to 'em store become very happy.

"Can just tell you the attitude right now around the nfl when it comes to wins not only is he. The thirty fifth out of thirty six rated quarterbacks among qualifiers twenty twenty players who played enough in twenty twenty to qualify for for the passer rating title. He's thirty fifth out of thirty six. Only one tenth of a point ahead of number thirty six sam darnold but it isn't only that that they're not really sure what kind of player he is but they've all heard the stories you know. He didn't take coaching well at the end that he had bad attitude when the When the eagles drafted jalen hurts. And so i think this is not a crystal clear and clean quarterback prospect trade for. You're not gonna trade for carson wentz and go to bed that night thinking. We just traded for the quarterback of our team for the next ten years in an ideal world. I could see that happening. But i think i think at the end of the day what's going to happen sometime before the start of the league year one month from right now sometime before the started league year i believe that the philadelphia eagles will get either a first round pick or two twos Four carson wentz. Quite honestly right now. I'd probably rather have the to because so many players are going to be drafted with so many questions surrounding them high in the draft. Maybe they opted out of their last years in college. Maybe their teams only played You know six or seven game schedule. They they haven't really seen much of them For a year or so so to me. I'd almost rather have tutu's so let's get to our conversations right now. We're gonna start off with. Justin jefferson the minnesota vikings who had an incredible rookie year. Fourteen hundred yards receiving and really made the trade of minutes for minnesota To buffalo when minnesota traded defined digs and and buffalo traded back fluid draft choices including this first round pick which turned into justin jefferson. That really Turned out to be a great trade for both teams including the minnesota vikings so here is justin jefferson so happy to be joined on the podcast by and he doesn't know this yet but until by week thirteen this year was going to be my offensive rookie of the year in the nfl. But he ended up finishing second on my ballot to justice. Herbert and other justin But just i think your rookie year was absolutely sensational. It's been a long time since. I've seen a rookie wide receiver. Just come into the nfl. Like you've played there for six years so anyway first of all congratulations on your year on thank you thank you so much. Let's let's start in. We'll get to your so the reason why you're here in a moment but let's just start by just getting to the point of what a weird year two thousand and twenty was the weirdest year that players who played in the nfl for fifteen years of had. Because you're you're not at practice as much. You're not in the classroom as much. You're doing it by zoom all that stuff. Tell me about how difficult a year this was to have. Especially when you're rookie very difficult Just the things that we didn't get to do that. A lot Nfl players had got to do before. as a as an example you know going to the nfl draft that that definitely is one of the things that that is a dream for a lot of guys especially that that get drafted on day so didn't really get to that We had learned We had to learn the playbook on zone so that definitely was difficult. Never had that before in my life. So i definitely had to really you know. Buy into learning and Had to figure out a way to learn over zoom although stuff that was difficult to do in to say that. I still had the season that i had Chew blessing. I couldn't ask for for any more on a better team. You know i just so the people kind of understand a little bit about this. I thought one of the most interesting things that happened this year in the nfl was when the cleveland browns had to play a playoff game in their head. Coach was in his basement. Back in cleveland and the team is playing in pittsburgh and he's watching on tv and one of the people Who works through. Team said yeah. It was really. It was obviously crazy. But it wasn't as bad as people thought. And i said what do you mean. He goes well on saturday. We get to pittsburgh for the playoff game. We go to hotel and usually in an average year. Y'all go to the ballroom in heavier heavier meeting. Maybe have a team meal. You have a snack after your meeting. Everything like that but in you're seeing everybody but in this particular year kevin stefanski coach. The browns is sitting back home in his basement in ohio. Any runs the saturday night meeting from his basement. Because is doing the meeting on zoom. All kevin stefanski is. He's the same square that he always is for one of these meetings so even though he's one hundred and thirty miles away. You really don't notice that that's the kind of stuff that you guys had to get used to this year. Yeah definitely isn't Is kinda hard to bring that energy brain egg silent Won't be doing stuff like that. You know we love to. Have you know the coach right there in. We all together Being being a fundamental team you know sandra's disconnect the as a team hold Before the game but A lot of stuff has changed a lot of stuff at change in a. I mean there's somethin' that that we have to get through Just a very in a way. We just gotta find a way to jumping. I want to get to two things in your rookie year I i was. You know as i sit and watch all the games or is some of every game. First time i really noticed you. This year was the third game of your season. You guys play tennessee at home. It ended up becoming kind of famous game because that was after that game. Tennessee has all these people. Come down with kovin. And you guys don't really have a covid problem which really educated a lot of people at the top of the nfl. that covid spread doesn't happen through these little short bursts of competition. But the reason why. I thought the game was noticeable. Especially for you. You're twenty one years old. this is your third game in the nfl. And you go up against You know a team that was in the afc championship game. Last year. seven catches one hundred. Seventy five yards one touchdown and i just kept. When i was watching that game i watched a lot of that game was a great game. You guys lost but it was a great game. What i remember about it saying. How is this guy just looked like he belongs. He's twenty one years old. Is this third game in the nfl and it looks. I don't wanna say easy. But it looked pretty damn easy for you and so i i would just ask you take me back to that game that day and tell me what you were feeling that day. Thank you so much success on. It really started the the that monday the monday before reaching a game Coach kube head. Call me With that monday afternoon or something like that in said that he was going to give you the opportunity to start so No means is being excited. I I definitely had to make the most of the opportunity so you know in practice. Just showing them that you know. They can count on me to soon. Not plays in to make those plays when it comes to the coach. 'cause cool called right plays That game in kirk game the opportunities to go out there and make bills replacing. That's what i did. And i mean just just being receiver pig Definitely had to make the most of the opportunity to show the world that I'm able to play on his level. I can be dominated. A play on this level You obviously come.

"To the peter king. Podcast is supposed to be the dead period on the nfl. Calendar doesn't feel too dead to me but we're going to catch up with three players in the national football league. I think many of you really like we're gonna hear from minnesota wide receiver justin jefferson then carolina running back christian. Mccaffrey trying to come back from a banged up year. And then austin ekeler of the los angeles chargers a player packed. Podcast this week just so that you know a recorded these during super bowl week. They oftentimes make players available. The cost of making players available is mentioning product so we mentioned the product. And we get to have fifteen minutes with christian mccaffrey. I liked the trade anyway before we get into our player pod. This week wants to talk about two events sorta hanging over the nfl right now one. Jj watt what will happen to jj watt case. So let's let's just let's go back for a moment and talk about so it didn't really seem the. Jj watt in his. Goodbye message was all that warm and fuzzy about the houston. Texans and i really think in the last year or so. Jj watt grown. Tired of playing for the houston texans. You did not think they were on the right path to building a super bowl team. Even though they had a franchise quarterback. And i believe he pushed this very hard early in this offseason and finally the owner of the texans kalmyk nerves mom janice mcnair. Who's the widow of bob. Mcnair the team founder. Basically said to him last week okay. We're going to release you. Good luck thanks for everything but it was just a weird kind of walking on eggshells. Release where you didn't hear much of this franchise will be in my blood till the day. I die now. I mean and so that is probably gonna take a little bit of smoothing over over the years but let's get to the current business of jj watt and the current business is. Where will you go or does he wanna go. Where mighty go in one of the problems with what i think is that there aren't a lot of teams that might want him. That have a lot of capitalism. Indianapolis is one. Indianapolis has some significant cap room. Many the teams that i think would really like to have. Jj watt are really in cap trouble like the green bay packers like the kansas city chiefs chiefs love in players. And i think there are other teams. That are very interested in him. That i'm not sure he'd be interested in. Let's take let's just look at two teams right now. that may have some interest in. Jj watt k. One is the green bay packers now. The interest might be more on watts. Part than on the packers part. They're not a team and haven't been a team over the years that His taken you know thirtyish thirty seven players watt will play at age thirty two in two thousand and twenty one and packers really haven't done that. They did charles woodson but a little bit of a different story was thirty years old. They knew that he had some really good years. Left and one of his good years ended up being a super bowl. winning air. another one of his good years turned out to be a defensive player of the year year. So i think what is a little bit different on the tail end two years maybe three and who knows at what level but i think the one thing about the packers is that i think j. watt would tell his agent. Look i don't care how it if they're interested at all. That's where i wanna go. I really sense that. That's one of the places where i think he'd wanna go. I think the buffalo bills would be interested. The bills have cap room. And i do think they would be interested but the other team i wanted to talk about is the pittsburgh steelers and look a friend of watts told me last friday when this deal all went down. I'm not so sure about. Jj going to pittsburgh he would feel in some ways you know like. He was taken all the air out of his room. That's brothers team. So i don't know we'll see the tennessee. Titans general manager. Jon robinson said today is i record this on tuesday february. Sixteen the day before this podcast will drop. They have had some contact. Jj watt and look. There is no secret that the that the That tennessee is desperate for a pass. Rush paid big money last year for vic beasley an for today and cloudy and got zero sacks and a lot of injuries and a release of beasley out of those two guys. So i'm sure they will be interested so those are some of the teams. I think you should watch now. Secondly let's talk for a minute about carson wentz and what might be happening with the philadelphia eagles quarterback so i said pro this week. You know everybody is saying. Hey what happened to winning. Why isn't went. Get the wednesday. Getting done and mike mike for you and i talked about it at some length and i said there's thirty days left before anything has to happen. You don't have to do this. Now if you're howie roseman and you don't have a golden ticket offer you know like detroit got from the rams. What's the hurry. Why trade him now. Wait until teams you know. We're looking at a deadline and then say okay What best offer. And i think the other part of this the two very logical teams. Obviously you're indianapolis. There's no question. The colts are interested and also the chicago bears. And i think what you're finding right now. Is everybody just assumes that the bears and the colts would be willing to trade their first round which are back to back twenty for the bears. Twenty one for the colts and they assume that they would just trade them..

Jon robinson justin jefferson j. watt peter king jj watt tuesday february janice mcnair today Jj watt charles woodson last week fifteen minutes christian mccaffrey Jj two guys twenty super bowl two teams carson wentz first round

"I didn't stick to my gun. You know, people would say she can't handle the heat herself. I promise you every argument, every debate what we do here on the show. I've already thought it out. Every fan base takes its turned insensitive. We managed to offend them all the way across the country and north of the border. We're really good at it. We'll get to you eventually. Such a great world We live in. Boom, baby This'll he's after hours with Lawrence. Actually responding Tol listener on Facebook, who was complaining about how the NFL played favorites in 2020 with the games that were canceled. So funny the second I say this, Dave start shaking his head, but here's how you know the NFL did not play favorites. Everything Go fan base is complaining. That's how you know From Stanford. This go, who didn't finish in San Francisco to Pittsburgh to Baltimore to Buffalo. To Cleveland to Denver to New England. The fact that all of you are complaining. Is all the evidence. I need to prove to you that the NFL did not play favorites. I feel everyone in doing this, probably having a crappy day today. E mean, let's be honest, the NFL took its turns. Taking off franchises in their fan base is this year. And as I hear how we open the show, something that I said very wisely in the past. We'll get to your fan base eventually. We haven't offended you yet. We will, Because that's sports were in Cleveland. Nothing is easy. No, I miss David Blatt. Where is he? You know they do. Those magazine covers every now and then s I does. Where in the world is David Black. Where is he now? I'm not sure we need to Google it. But maybe it's a unanswered for another Another show another time, like the wide receiver question. Do you know I almost I didn't quite get to it this year, but it was stuffed in my back pocket. The question of the best young stud wide receiver in the NFL because that one is another really good. Question. There's so many athletic wide receivers. And I just got this tweet, but I was up against the clock. So obviously I left out a lot of really good wide receivers that Calvin Ridley, another one that impresses me, week after week. Feel like Robbie Anderson found new life in Carolina. He's really been showing off what he can do mention Justin Jefferson. Yeah, There's many of them Jerry, Judy and Denver's been great and in Dallas fan reminds me a CD lamb. Now I'm not going to read you his tweet because it's very well. But that's my point is everything Gaze base gets offended and one great piece of evidence that the NFL did its job and did not play favorites. In 2020 is that every single fan base had a beef. I mean, I think the majority of you know I'd have to go back and count which I'm not going to do. It's not that important. But if if I did, I think the majority of you would agree. The NFL did. Above average job handling the pandemic and handling football in a pandemic. You some of you were here walk. Some of you were attacked about the way your team was treated. But again, there are lots of Franchises that felt like they had a beef. One week it was this team the next week, It was another team and the NFL marches on and my entire point to you this whole Four months of the season has been If the NFL stopped And change the schedule or postpone games every single time. One team had a competitive advantage or competitive disadvantage We never would have gotten through the season. That's why the NFL continue to move forward even when a team was left at a disadvantage. A little bit like bad officiating. Thies guys, They're human beings, right? They make mistakes. But much too. The chagrin of fan base is that when it happens against them, the thing is What goes around eventually comes around. It doesn't affect one fan base or one franchise more than it affects another. Now officials make mistakes, and they Don't play favorites with with who they screw up against. The NFL every week. Had to figure out How to navigate what we're completely unprecedented challenges and and ones that would pop up with really not a moments notice. Even if you Think your faith or your franchise was treated unfairly in your fan base. Got the shaft. You have to admit that to get through 17 weeks with his many moving parts, as they did Not skip or cancel even a single game and to finish on time. Even begrudgingly. You have to be impressed with what the NFL did this season. You don't have to like how it affected your team, but you have to be impressed. No other league did that. It did not work for college football. NBA and NHL were in bubbles, which wasn't possible for the NFL. NASCAR a little different more of an individual sport, though they had the team component, of course on pit road, but they kept those guys so completely separate. I don't practice together, so to speak. You're not talking about dozens and dozens, even hundreds of people who have to be together all the time. They really kept them isolated. Facilities were closed. Teams practice in parking lots. Entire Offensive or defensive lines were out at the Raiders. If they feel like they got slighted or the NFL handed them an unfair advantage..

"Officer Grady 10 yard penalty third down. Yeah, they called the out the O P I. That's what allowed time Higgins to break free. And then he exacerbated that hamstring issue that he had. He was limited in practices earlier in the week with a hamstring problem, and now it's worse than he's still down on the field, getting attention from the medical staff that wipes out the catch. And if the hamstring is in fact the injury and he does not continue today, he will not break Cris Collinsworth's franchise record. Instead, they share it 67 catches as rookies. Chris did that 39 years ago. T did that this year in Ty's case for 908 receiving yards his rookie year, certainly one of the top performances by any rookie receiver in the NFL this year. Second only to Justin Jefferson, who set a record for receiving yards by a rookie in the NFL for the Vikings this year. And you think I put that 41 Yard reception? You needed 92 to get to 1000. And that would have been a heck of an accomplishment for a rookie. I mean, not only to have done it in franchise history, so he was getting close to halfway there the way the game unfold, and I'm not sure he would have gotten there. Everybody sniffed. You know, 92 yards receiving, but coming out of the gate with with 41, then the ripple effect. I mean, all the coverage is like we thought we talked about the pregame show. Not my belief was that a J Green was gonna have without Jimmy Smith out there. He was gonna have like the fourth corner and he did early in the game. But then when tea, Higgins goes out No, it changes everything around. You could start doubling Tyler boy taking it just changed the whole dynamic that you lose. Ah, Player of his caliber as early as you did. The whole passing attack becomes a much different equation matching up with that secondary of the Baltimore Ravens. So in week one, the Bangles are denied a victory. By an offensive pass interference call on a J. Great, and it would have been the ultimate NFL debut for a quarterback Joe Burrow, taking the team down the field and throwing a game winning touchdown pass with seven seconds to go in his first game, AJ called for a push off touchdown doesn't count. Field goal missed but by the craft the calf cramping Randy Bullock in week one and then in a week 17 games. 16 t hig tea Higgins about to set a franchise record off offensive pass interference. In this case on Mike Thomas whites that out book ends on offensive pass interference. Unbelievable. And when you look at that, Dan Um, Joe, borrow Early in his career was going to leave the game winning touchdown. Against Cleveland in Cincinnati, drives him down, puts him ahead. Was less than two minutes. Minutes have, like one of $4 and make breaking Mary Field comes down and makes the touchdown throw tow. Tow defense couldn't hold either. In either case, defense can hold Miss Field goal, obviously, after the O P I against AJ Green, but I mean, Joe borrow was getting it done in that regard. I mean, he was he was making key plays a key moments of football games. We can't tend to forget about, you know, I mean, he put him in game winning situations. He should have had more than two victories that he had in the Bangles End up 15 and one Games decided by a touchdown or less 15 and one if you win two of them, you know you're looking to six wins. You win three of them. You're seven and nine. You know, I'm gonna have a double digit your 78 while know if you if one of most Italian seven and nine Worst case scenario, that's a much different dynamic. They were Close in a lot of football games. There's no doubt they won, you know, just one of those close football games that tells you that they're not quite there yet, In terms of finishing the way they need to finish, But tea, Higgins Dan, this kid, he's got it all. He's got a high ceiling. So young, another year of strength and conditioning. He's gonna be a beast. He's 64 years to 16 now. He could be 2 25 easily in his second year. I mean putting on £9 of muscle on his body, broad shoulders, big frame, long, arms, contested catch guy, And the thing is with that size, he's got a little bit of wiggle. He's got an ability to sink his hips, getting a lot of cuts he had Some concentration with some drops, you know, didn't catch everything he could have cotton caught. But the other thing he's got an attitude. He understood his assignment. He understood what he was supposed doing. Why was supposed to do it and how he was supposed to get it done? That's big, and I think it lent itself to getting in a rhythm quickly and in a time in a coordination with three different quarterbacks that's hard to do is a rookie. And they all seem to find a way to get in sync with tea. Higgins. I think that has a lot to do with tea. Higgins. All right, We're going to take a time out. When we come back. We will wrap up the show and wrap up the season. This is Bangles. Lina News Radio 700 wlw as the official healthcare partner of the Cincinnati Bangles. You remember that big mike. I don't think ever stepped foot at saint norbert. That's the dorm we stayed at. We never have meetings there. So i don't know where he walked in on everybody. So you're you're questioning the validity of that guy story which i think ryan inside the bowels of lambeau and he somehow stumbled into the team meeting room which. I don't think whatever happened. 'cause i never saw outside or inside the halls of speaking of sorry. You just crazy to be there. Do you remember when we were in the bowels of that casino in the baha- yeah we're notions eleven. Somehow we ended up in these always were. There was like a volt like right here. We ever closing the door and there was like four hundred fifty million dollars sitting what is walking around. I got my championship belt from that golf tournament on my shoulder and people were just like oh and then we slowly got shuffled out of there. The bowels of places. I can tell you the casino. "Is back takes figuring it out his question about to you. Was this rookie class of water. Cevers damn good are you guys. Are doing this competing against each other. Do you keep in contact with each other Do you know any of them. Outside of the lsu crew. I mean always was. It was a competition especially during college So i mean we follow. We follow each other our social media stuff now with i mean after. It's always going to be that competition a always just trying to outdo one another but Is much respected guys. Those guys have been performing. It is also. I mean this is has been looking great. It doesn't make sense easy. You guys have made it. Look it really doesn't it's not supposed to be at least two of you should be fucking bums makes sense. You know what i mean. Aj hawk by the way. The other caucasian may on the screen at uc there. He played at green bay for a long time justin. I'm just curious about your time. I know people love to ask you about coach and lsu but are there any similarities between coach. Oh and mike. Zimmer both left to win Both hate hate loser loser in he in his well. that's why i can connect with them and You know how they feel even more than everybody else. Because you know we're they're so competitive just like me and We just hate losing we. Hey just being on the losing team had losing seasons so We're all looking to the shake this season back right in To go back on on a winning streak being ultracompetitive seems to be a trait that a lot of people that are in high places have with you just talking about being on a losing team there for a little bit in. You guys seem to have right the ship by the way that it's been awesome to watch it happen. What is the vibe been like. Now this is your first year the nfl. So there's no way you could compare the nfl locker room to this particular season as opposed to another nfl season. But what has been like has been more business than you expected it to be because all through high school college. It's like you kinda ride the wave and in the nfl. it's like. Hey we gotta move on here. What is it been like kind of experiencing the highs and lows of the nfl in your short career thus far. Oh i mean the just losing in a just. Just china china notes shake back from i mean not did not used to losing it all Especially after last year but I mean this year is is is different Fans not having a screaming people in the in the stadium It's a little different. So you gotta bring your own energy bring your own swagger to the games. Because i mean to be honest it feels like practice. Feels like a scrimmage But i mean once we in energy and play with that high tempo than where we will play. Great just like we did. These last two games is justin as it. Is it a benefit. When you don't have fans there to where i'm sure pre snap. You can hear your coach on the sidelines that they want to make the wrong. You're wrong is that a benefit or is that a detriment to your team when you can hear everything is both both Just because i mean. I mean i. It's it's kind of tough not not have no spanair so Fans bring energy brings excitement. brings a genuine so All of that you don't have anymore so now you just have to to through pair. Come ready to go and Just you know in your own so it is definitely different but I was saying it's a little better because the communication between offense you can hear everything But know it will be way better. We have has there by the way. That sounds like a common central. Every every vogler couldn't even. I had to hit zero people i to do absolutely nothing that involve getting energy or or having a little bit of adrenaline. But i couldn't even fathom what it's like walking into a just a completely dead silent stadium and be like this matters. This matters a lot like that has to be hard to be like. This is a lot different than what i was. just doing. on wednesday and thursday. This even feels these. That's going to be interesting in by the way. I think the adjustment back into a lot of fans is going to be interesting for some people to be like a re-baptism into a full blown stadium. justin jefferson any hobbies. You've picked up in the off time or is it just film you. Just hang out you. You do play video games. Do you play cards. Do you play dominos to play. Video games mostly Especially with Some i beg at home in some teammates so they kind of been given me a little excitement after practices and along day. So that's pretty much doing my time because you're not allowed to do anything you have to go to work. Then you go home then. You don't talk to anybody. Put a mask on. If you even talk to your mom okay. You'd have to do and then you go back to work and go home. But that's kind of the expectation and if the season if the players can maintain collecting checks and everything. That's what has to be so like the video game escape. There is a massive part of your well being throughout this entire season. Oh hundred percent. I mean and i feel like that's one of the reasons while colleges have A harder time to you know. Stay under a colgate protocol everything. Because you know college students loud to to do extra curricular activities in the you know to to go out with everybody not me. Justin college years. I've been in the bubble along. Say right exactly. You ever sees the shirt off and run around the facility like coach on campus. That is going to have the. Oh my toes yet. I'm looking forward to seeing if he does have the note when he's a big defensive does does he have much interaction with the offense. Have him had a relationship. I mean being the first round pick. That's quite an investment. The team put in your zimmer and you had had a relationship at all or is it kind of business because you can't 'cause cove it Make sure both of you know we talk a little bit during practice and saying up teach You know as has walk by but It's be more of a business thing You know it doesn't really. They don't really look at me as a rookie anymore. they look at me as a toss up player that that can bring some potential to their offense and You know make some big plays so After coach has just been treated me like everybody else and lateral. That's awesome. that's great to hear. Hey good luck for the rest of the day. When he got he got practice. You've got anything else going on got today are we we. We just finished practice so no go home video. Hey big wednesday okay. This is installed day jamaica. Did you do anything sweet today. Do we have any highlights. "Very interesting. I did not expect i think going into this season was something we could not have wrote down as like things to expect in to two thousand twenty. Nfl season. bruce arians is not going to give a single fuck about anybody at any time or anything he will bury you anti ever on his snaps with fucking tom. Dot com ball defense stinks. That's also as a sports show. It's off. I'm intrigued to hear how the inside locker room is handling it. People that maybe. Our brand new to bruce arians. I've never been around. Bruce for what it's like but they to figure it out. They know that if they don't everybody's gonna talk about it so sorry to interrupt. I just want to let you know that if you're not gambling with the greatest sportsbook on planet earth and though moon fan does sportsbook than you're completely wrong. You're completely wrong you know. There's some things that are debatable. Sure who's best quarterback in the nfl. Aaron rodgers but some people come and say russell wilson some people then go to bat. obviously for. Tom brady drew brees. There's a that is a debatable. Depending on which stats you. Choose to look at every single day for me. You know eight interceptions. In the last forty games is one that should be talked about Patch mahomes stats are incredible. Obviously but then you gotta look at the weapons that he has. I mean there's just so much that goes in there. That's why it's debatable. There's no debate. The fan does sportsbook is the greatest sportsbook complaints in. There's no debate against it. No there's not you try best odds easiest to use. They refund money if they feel like people have gotten fucked over doing all the time. All the time makes no sense terrible for their business. I soon but we don't care and they're good. Humans yeah great humans. Some stories going around about some other places that are potentially in the same world not great humans. I just want to let you know the reason why we're in business with fan does because they are good. Stand up guys and gals. We had opportunities obviously work elsewhere. But once i met the fan humans. I was like you know what good people great app. The app is untouchable in department convenient to use. The odds are better. That means the money. You're betting getting better odds on them. Which means you're winning more money Obviously only bet what you're willing to lose or win obviously. Don't go crazy with it but it is something that is makes games much more enjoyable matching last night. I was watching diode in kent state minus twenty and a half or something like. Don't keep it moving. There's just so much that makes a game better. That vandal adds to the player. Props house this player going to do there. So they have a show called more ways to win because the amount of betsy in on one particular game is endless and they have single game parlays which means you can turn five dollars into thousand dollars if you have a good feeling on how a game's going to go fan. Just wanna let everybody know that it doesn't matter if you're for the war or against the wars you have to be pro the warrior and i think that's why veterans day is so important. I take a lot of pride in the work that i've done with the women and men of our military both their families active and vets drake group of humans. I mean honestly been through things that it's very difficult to understand if you haven't been there anybody that's willing to sign a line saying hey i'll do we gotta do to protect this country now. Does that mean that you have to automatically support the wars in the decisions. That are made absolutely not. I'm not saying that is the case whether you do or you don't. That's not for me to judge but the citizens of our country that sign line saying. Hey i'll go do. We gotta do nothing but honor and respect for them. So big. Happy veterans day Feel free to buy a meal coffee gum. Maybe some smokes. Whatever they're looking for in. Just say thank you for those people In an after they get back. "Not enough as the Ram's fault. Two and one Right now. We're trying to go to three. And if they went to Minnesota today, that was gonna be a pretty tall order because Since they were the Houston Oilers. They had only 11 of eight trips to Minnesota. This has not been a friendly place for them. But Tennessee too, and all for the first time since they were 10 and no back in 2008 since the playoffs expanded back in 1990. They have made the playoffs in each of the three seasons. They started three and, Oh, How would they get there today? Not necessarily just on the arm of Ryan Tannehill or the legs of Derrick Henry. It was the right foot of Stephen Gostkowski, who had an opportunity to win the game. Lee right hand for the lead. 55 yards for the lead. Wow. But look I love the National Football League. Six for six by Keith and Day began its Titans radio Yes. Six for six. Remember a couple of weeks of the season? Does Kowski miss five times? Not today? Tennessee beats Minnesota. 31 to 30. Ryan Tannehill didn't throw a touchdown pass. Today You had 11 games in a row with two or more touchdown passes, but Derrick Henry got started his first two touchdowns in the season 119 yards on the ground. The Titans are now three and so for the year back home and take on the Pittsburgh Steelers, Also three and on the other side, her cousins threw three touchdown passes on the day today, Calvin Cooke had 181 rushing yards and check this out. Justin Jefferson, the rookie wide receiver, seven catches 175 yards and a touchdown. All of it. Not enough. Minnesota Vikings have missed the playoffs all three times in their history. They started on three..

"Two is going to start giving you need. This is a really talented group. Go get a guy who fits what you need now. Yeah we'll talk about that guy maybe like when you great. Jefferson you kind of alluded to before and I talked about it when when you were a for for your article about his plus traits. I mean I saw a guy with fantastic reactive quickness with his hands they're strong can make tough catches over the Middle Scott. Really Nice Body. Control works to catch point. Well that's an area of his game. I value more so than a lot of other is not the same time him being so good in that role raises a flag because like he's working for releases against soft zone voids. Walter Marchetti is drawing coverage and as such as averaged Target of eight point four. I believe it is is like among the lowest in the class. Much lower than a Guy. Like Judy who was afforded more of the same luxury but I also think when I watch him. You see a really intelligent guy who liked a Juju Smith Schuster like Robert Woods has a great feel for space and leverage in those shaller shallow to intermediate area so the skills get balanced that way the question above average grades on Jefferson. Does it go beyond just the hands and the intelligence that you kind of mentioned before when you graded him out what really stands out. That would maybe make the eagles feel confident that that projection is okay. Because there's not just the releases other stuff to work with. Because one of the things you mentioned was like melting all contact but I think like in contested situations that body controlled that I mentioned those strong hands and whatnot. I really think they show up in those places so I do feel okay with him. Getting those downfield targets as opposed to a guy like a Nelson Aguilar who not only melts against context in the in the in the short intermediate areas against press but down. The field. Does that as well I think. Jefferson is stronger in that area. Yeah so for. Jefferson's evaluation his best trait that that he graded out for me at at a like a strong level what I would call an excellent level with the terminology. I use rose hands. His next best is tracking job. He's really good at finding the football. And the instances in which he does it in the Lsu film is across the middle of the field and really quick situations like Jefferson's one of those guys you love to target unlike set routes in slant routes because he turns around the ball the throwing motions already begun and he just he reflects catches. The ball doesn't need to track it as needed. Find It. He's GonNa turn knowing a safety is going to be snowing. A linebackers closing on still able to find that ball soft secure hands bringing into his frame and survive contact so he's got a good track and adjust. He doesn't have big catch radius. I mean like he's got fine elevation ability fine length and find long speed but like nothing is stellar so to me like. I think his best contested catch film is going to remain in the short intermediate like. He's he's comfortable getting hit and he secures catches through contact and he catches really instinctively across the middle of the field without regard for his body. So he's going to continue to be. I think really really valuable there. It's funny because like I'm at a. It's it's difficult talking about. Jefferson like this because he's going to be so good in a role that the eagles just don't need him to fill these. Don't need this player. They they knew receiver. And if you're telling me a player like Justin Jefferson were on the board and round three round four. Like if he's on the Van. Jefferson's eagles at one. Oh three let's you'd be like Ahmen That's this is exactly what what the greatest good value in. Hopefully they've already picked a wide receiver awhile round and they're double dipping or whatever but Jefferson and around one like you just. You don't need the player who's got secure hands and good catches across contacting the short intermediate areas because a listening to this gasoline eagles fan. You should hear that. And Go south exerts because it is inert to just doing it at thirty five forty pounds more than Jefferson is but but like when we talk about rolls in the passing game that role is filled. And it's probably filled to abundance with what you have in in. Dallas got her and also was some of the quality film from Jj out of Stanford was like. Aren't they go? I'd say was great at like you know three step. Five step slant make a catch against leverage tough through survive the ground survive contact deal with pressure like how was such a big part of his game so like. I think you have those players. I don't you have a player who lines up. Outside of the numbers beats a corner one on one and makes a catch over his helmet. And that's the guy I want do you. Is there a guy at twenty one like that that you would feel comfortable taking their Denzel Limbs or somebody else I'd like our mims is is tough like yeah I I? Here's what I'm the same way. Whims is my wide receiver for. I think he's got the most boom bust potential of any of these guys if he works out like he could work X Z and be fantastic but like there are concerns there he is not a slam dunk. The mems thing is tough for me because I watch museums happens like this happens to everybody who who does this like. I Know Taboo. Abbas to me. I watched him in like November December before the senior bowl. I liked his film. I thought he was better at running game credit for thought it was good athlete. He ended up with an early to on my board was really high relative to where he was then he has the senior bowl he did and he has the combine dead and now. I think everybody else too high on him but I still love them and feel like I'm too high on you know what I mean like. People are like awesome of a bona fide first round. Maybe like in the thirties. But then also like back when I I thought he should be in the thirty S I was the revolutionary like. It's I feel very oddly about him at twenty one I think he's a better trade back candidate than he is anything else. I don't think he'll be wide receiver. Four off the board and he's wide receiver math seven for me because you know agnostic of what the viscous chanels injury situation as you could call wide receivers sex. I can't tell you how his surgery went. I don't know But I have Jalen Added I've cage a hammer ahead of him. But if we're talking about hey. The Eagles need an x receiver. To replace alshon Jeffery as a player they can target on deep comebacks the player they can target on back shoulder fades and in the red zone. It goes one CDROM to Denzel members and the against brother road so like I. It is a little bit conditional on on how much value mims skill set right there and also how much you're gonNA target him because the same thing that goes into. Jefferson not being able for the eagles because the targets they give us over the metal goes into your ex receiver. And that's why Al Jeopardy's been complaining for two years because the number one scare quotes receiver for the eagles done get targeted like a number one. Receiver doesn't get targeted like an ex because the eagles funnel a lot of targets to their tight ends in their running backs and probably having a rookie. They're winning at axes helpful as he won't have expectations for how he should receive volume. But if you're spending twenty one on the player you do want to give him some targets. He's on the field and the eagles tend not to throw to that position. So there's a lot of dynamics that go into that distribution in that big I would prefer mims to Jefferson at twenty one comfortably but I would hope that they would be able to push back and get him a little bit later. This is funny because a lot of discussion around these wide receivers is are they worth twenty one. That's the question if the eagles were at thirty thirty one thirty two. I'd be like APP like all these guys like a lot of these guys in that range but twenty one. Maybe a bit rich but I think it'd be okay with them like you. Yeah I know I Never GonNa talk about hamlet's. Let's talk about rigor. Where were you on? Rigor yeah all. That sounds great. Raiders in that weird like you could have him fifth to tenth as far as like wide receiver five wide receiver ten. And I really wouldn't argue with you. I don't think he's a he's a first round guy for me. I just have too many concerns about him. Overall like it's weird man watching his Yak like drop off a cliff and I know some of that has to do with ballplayer and everything like that. The guy just sought the sidelines like so much. He had no interest blocking and selling the decor outs. And everything like that. But you watch him like he give the guy speed released and he's just eaten these guys up and stack and with ease and whatnot is quarterback. Play so bad. I think he was fourth most uncatchable balls out of this class from from the from the quarterback so if you were to get them like in the second round. I'd be really excited about him but that that's kind of what I mean like when you talk about like you talk about these wide receivers in the context of twenty-one overall like if he slides in this draft because it's a loaded class and they end up getting him in the mid to late second round. Heck Yeah I'm on board. I think he's faster than he timed. I think the jump show that he is plenty explosive. I think he's got more to his route tree than TCU allowed him to show. So I like I just don't think I'm as high on him as others but like I think he's got a pretty solid protection at the next level so like film. Wise Raider does not have as high of a great for me as dental name says names higher on confirm that I do. And He's right there with hamlet ride. They're very similar spots and then The the production and athleticism aspects of my grading comment into the first round. Because Ray was the whole passing offense in. Tcu that's reflected in the numbers. It's reflected in the film you watch this guy. Gets Kansas State in states like? Hey here's three defenders. Throw it to anyone else. You can't and you can't even hit Reagan. Throw it until they they don't The the attention that he got as the only receiving option especially in his final season there. It just makes Quite difficult he ran a bad three cone and a bad short shuttle and people again cared right and I don't. I'd never saw that on film and I didn't care like okay so you're going to tell me that mims has better hips than Jalen Raider. I refuse to believe that at you could Affleck there three times. It'll be like yeah. That sounds right like Memphis. Mastered the drill in my opinion. His hips don't move on film Reagan. Plenty lose for me right right. It's funny because like every year we do this where we go like. This guy's an extract athlete to like he was taxed as high school. Track right in like rose means the thing but for like nine out of ten of those dudes Reagan being one of them. Don Me Ninety like I mean it does like regular had tremendous jumps but we all knew that coming any dinner on the forty. Expect the bad freak on a bad short shovel showing you. That like athleticism isn't it isn't a catchall term and there's linear athleticism and there's Edison through angles you know whatever and then there's always that one dude mims who tests way better than everybody thinks. And it's like well obviously because he was a track athlete also due to track athletes. You can't just pick the wine and be like see. We knew that his track background now absolutely mims. Three cone is complete garbage. Where the heck is that in his round. Are you kidding me right and like this as as proclaimed mims fan you know what I mean and again the first thing I said about him I think he's better than people give him credit for but anyway because he's got wicked hip sink last night his game? He has a really good job. I talked about activating your offhand. Men's really good job. Running routes through contact and creating space by.

"Can they play on the outside? And there's a focus on. Justin Jefferson there. And that's where we'll go with this discussion because there's a big debate about Jefferson's viability on the outside and he's also trying to pick for the Eagles at twenty one. So here's what I had to say about Jefferson in my article. I had missed wide receiver. Five stepping right. Around my top thirty quote the optimal utilization of his skill set is that of Juju Smith. Schuster pre Antonio Brown's departure the floor might be Juju after Antonio Brown went off the reservation. That's still a good productive outlook. That's going to sound like a knock to his staunch staunch supporters. The ultimate question is. How much do you value that role on the eagles when they're probably operate the slot by committee anyway at least this year enough to take him in the middle of the first round? Question Mark? There's a case both for it and against it but if you remove the debate about his exact drafts lot from the equation I like Jefferson more than it might sound unquote Ben. All you chime in on that on a second but I want to quote your Article First. Delay some more groundwork for the listeners. You had this to say about Jefferson quote in the NFL. Just as in College Jefferson will be most valuable in the slot. His best trait is his hand strength which allows him to win contested catches in the intermediate areas while getting accosted by safeties linebackers beyond that his quick various gears and instincts as a route runner. All translate best to maximizing the to Waco afforded by the slot but is a completely versatile. Can he play out wide at this point? Jefferson likely can't be trusted to get off press coverage in your one he was an inconsistent player in two thousand eighteen and in two thousand nineteen continued to show high peaks and low valleys when challenged. On the line of scrimmage. A team shouldn't ask him to play x receiver role early on so I agree with all of this and seeing that we both feel that his best role is a slot role and you can also give him quote unquote like outside alignments with reduced formations to give like the feel of a slot route tree. It's not a death knell for his stock I. He's not the only receiver. I have this question about right. It's not just Jefferson and I'm not worried about it with Jerry Judy because he defeated press regularly when tasked with those lines but like Brandon. Iu from Arizona State Caja Handler etc. I have similar issues so we've also seen this before like the Eagles tried to square peg round hole with Nelson Galore on the outside his first two years and he was an is still only ineffective on the outside his best use in two thousand seventeen two thousand eighteen two thousand nineteen even with all the volatility there and the high points and low valleys was the slot Jordan. Mathews same thing. So this isn't something that we created out of thin air. I think it's a legitimate concern. The question is how much do you value that role. Even if it's done at a high level now with anything I think raising a concern makes it sound like we're just writing Jefferson off especially at twenty one but I do think this is a guy that could come in and give you production right away right like the calm. I have with Juju. Even bad Juju is a good player but anyway Ben Justin Jefferson. It's a nuanced conversation. What's your take on them and of course? Are you upset if he's the picket? Twenty-one lay Jefferson. I think you've gotta to fully understand the value of Jefferson at twenty one four. The Eagles you have to deconstruct first of all the way down to like what is a wide receiver and then build your way back up right guys. There's there's there's too much that goes into this specific player for this specific team. This specific presser today. Yes or no. It's not it's not that cut and dry when I when you evaluate a wide receiver. The first question you want to be able to answer Kenny. Get off press coverage because if he can get off press coverage I can put him anywhere on the field. Slot Z X. Reduce Alignment Nasty. Alignment plus alignment isolated. Whatever 'cause the worst thing a defense can do to you as press you the the number one thing they can do to take you away is put a dude. Right on the line of scrimmage and tell them to hit you in the mouth so if you can get off press it follows. You should be able to do pretty much. Anything from any alignment now. Obviously that's that's not exactly the case. Where you guys are good. Get off press but like it's because they're super strong and there's not explosive quick guys. We're going to win in Yak Situations. But if you can get off press I can align you anywhere and then I'll ask you to do things relative to your strengths. Okay so the first thing I'm GONNA do is. I'm GonNa see if you can get off press if you can't. I have to protect you by alignment with that means. I have to put you in places where you are unlikely to be pressed because if you are pressed you're going to be taken out of the play one for one we're GONNA be editor at a at a disadvantage the places where I can align you to protect you from press sometimes. I can align you at Z. Z. Receivers typically off of the line of scrimmage the flanker not the split end the X. Disease. Off The line of scrimmage even though he's on the outside and so we often but our speed receivers there because they get a free release. Corners can't bump them right away because they have to stay behind line of scrimmage and so they have that little bit of space to get to the outside shoulder runs straight up the field and just outrun press coverage. That's why the Sean Jackson Plays Z. Eleven he's on the outside. He's typically often line of scrimmage for that reason but the primary way to protect the receiver from press coverage is in the slot. Because it's really really hard to put slot corners and press coverage from one slot typically small dudes the typically shorter stub your avant skies not going to be successful in the press. The physical tools to be successful in the press number one number two. You want them to be off landscape because they're very often part of your run fit and they need to be able to fill into multiple gaps. The runs away from the slot corner. He needs to pursue backside see gap defender. It's hard to do that. If you're at Milan scrimmage you're GONNA be able to be a block from a wide receiver if you don't know off lands coming. She's coming to block you. You won't be able to beat him and you can get out finding I leverage so we open our slot corners to be off Leonard. Scrimmage should be involved in our run fits as well so I can put you in the slot to protect you from press. Okay now what if you get off press? I want you in the Slot Rai. Is there a situation where even if you can get off Brest? You're better in the slot? And the answer's absolutely. Yeah because the advantage of playing in the slot is having a two way go. Receivers in the slot can release both to the inside and to the outside. Receivers aligned with a plus alignment at the numbers outside of the numbers. The acts all the way out near the sideline. He doesn't have to go. He can't run out. Breaking routes the sideline is there. And so if I have a really good route runner a guy who can get off of press but also runs really great routes think Jerry Judy in the Alabama offense who aligned at slot as frequently as Justin Jefferson. Did this past season. Judy has filmed from twenty eighteen and film from two thousand nine hundred getting off press more so than Jefferson does. Why weren't they putting him out there? Then if he can get off brass why wasn't he at the x? Because Judy run some of the sickest routes in college football them in the slot right. Because that's where the his usage of the two way though is going to be most devastating. He has the ability to maximize that disadvantage. For the defence a slot corner can't play with an inside leverage with inside shade. 'cause they don't have a sideline on the outside to help them out to defend outbreaking routes so receivers to maximize the two way go typically better in the slot now. Let's evaluate Justin Jackson when he's asked to release off press coverage she struggles it is not a strength of his. He's got good footwork. He's got good agility. Good looseness good head. Fakes taveres route stems. But he is good when he is not crowded when you get into his kitchen he struggles. He melts off of contact. He wants to get away from physicality he does not like activating is off hand. That's okay does it? All these things like their notes on a film me now. They're they're trying to figure out how to get a guy at an fit. Get a guy to his best role. It's not saying he can't Blake. She can't do this lottery series in the NFL melt off contact. Don't WanNA play through contact. Don't like aunt. I don't activate their offense socks and you run in free space. Jefferson's one of those dudes. Jefferson does not like being pressed and was most effective like judy when he got moves primarily to the slot on a really talented college wide receiver core because he maximize the two bay Gal because he's a delightful little route runner with a ton of bursts. A ton of wiggle really smart. Great in space toughened contested catches. Really sure hands across the middle so the skills matches slot deployment in the weaknesses matches slot deployment just Philadelphia Anita player. Who in at least you're one will likely be to slot play? The reality is because of the way. The Eagles like to use Zakar tes by constantly flexing him. Off OF THE LINE OF SCRIMMAGE. They already have one slot occupied. It's by their tight end. They don't have to slots on the field. They have one because earth is not a wide receiver plays slot tight end for them if you want to call it that so there need for a slot. Receiver is diminished. They run those two way. Go routes with their tight ends with leverage and Si- is they they box out and they win a short areas. They like to use alshon Jeffery in the slot. And as you've always talked about they moved to Shawna the slot more than he typically played for other teams so accordingly. The Eagles don't have a gap at slot receiver. They have a gap outside receiver if they're taking Jefferson at twenty one. It's because they believe he can become an outside receiver. They believe that he has a good foundation. To release off of press can continue to learn how to release off oppress women more contested catch situations which is more likely to have. He won't be able to separate as much because he doesn't have a two way go there's projection involved in Jefferson as an eagle. Because he's going to see more reps outside than he didn't Lsu and that's not where his strengths are so development will be required. That's the long and the short of Asia taking him at twenty one. You are projecting development in class. That is rife with year. One starters I won't hate it because Jephson's a good player but you should be able to find a guy who has more experience and better film at X. Getting off of press on the outside Denzel mims Baylor Jalen Reagan at. Tcu Then you adjust in Jefferson at Lsu. Great player doesn't make sense for the Eagles at twenty one like I said when haixing he's talented but the this isn't the class to go reaching for a guy with a projection who may be in year..
