And even though Cleveland's a really good football team, Justin Fields gives Chicago a better opportunity to win than Andy Dalton would. And the bears win celebrate be very, very happy if they lose to Cleveland. Don't panic, Cleveland's a better football team. But again, I would rather, Justin start week four. This team has many many many hall of famers many many iconic players that are on the top one hundred list of all time. Yes never had a quarterback that you would be able to put in the marino. Elway you know manning. Type of category drew. Brees does not even come. Close newman invest best quarterback that ever had in my lifetime. Y- yes it lachmann. Jim mcmahon. I mean i love jim mcmahon. I love it. I love that. Eighty five team one of my favorite teams in ice dancing gimmick man in a music video great but leagues below the caliber of rock darter. That you'd expect from a truly top-class franchise like that. Yeah right and see. I know i know that the people there in chicago and the head coach in particular met night he knows how important it is not just for him in his job status. But for the franchise. I think for the city of chicago. He knows how important it is to not mess this kit up so to speak to get it right for him because he truly believes that the young man has everything that he needs from a football character personal character athletic ability mental makeup standpoint to be one of the best to ever do it. I have long said this. And i'll always believe is because i've seen it not just a quarterback but across all positions more times than not is going to situations that are just not conducive to success and that screwing players up and not allowing players to maximize their potential. That happens more than you would ever think because there are not all created equal. There is a wide range of skill. Levels amongst coaches decides. there are amongst players. You think every coach in the nfl is a pro bowl coach. Now there's a lot of backups and emergency guys who were coaching on rosters in the nfl. Home because they have great context. Great networks good friends and they keep their job. Just like i mean. That's that's like that's the world. In general every workplace. Lewis front has some of that and quarterbacks what you're saying are by no means immune to those variables. Absolutely not exactly. There's no question about that. Look patrick mahomes going to kansas state. And i'm look patrick. So unique talent. Okay he's unique but you think he didn't go to the just the absolute perfect place being coats by. So for justin fields there are people who are down on matt nagy because of how the mitchell trubisky situation played itself out yet trubisky. You've got drafted second. Overall lewis in two thousand seventeen ahead of patrick mahomes and now is no longer in chicago. After spending four seasons there although to be fair matt nagy was not yet in chicago. When trubisky i got drafted and i'm sure if you and i and i have a few beers with matt nagy sat down and just talk from about it. Maybe there were things that he would like to do. Over with mitch trubisky. And i'm sure there are things that mitch trubisky. No matter what the situation understands that he just can't do the point being this. I think the world is in just in fields hand as far as what he could accomplish in chicago as long as chicago does right by him. Organization does right by an justin stays on the straight narrow on the right path as far as wanting to be as great as he possibly can which he has given zero indication that that is not the case. Yeah i wanna clarify. Also i mean you and matt nagy go back right. You guys work together in philadelphia. That is somebody whose brain you have picked in the past. And i imagine he does the same with you. Is that fair to say. That's so the question louis practically speaking is. How much are we going to see from justin fields this season because you said it right. The plan had been andy. Dalton the veteran is the starter fields. Is the number to nick. Foles is behind him number three but again you know matt nagy as well. I mean better probably than anybody doing this stuff in our business. What's your sense what's your read. I mean your personal projection for how much justin fields. We're going to get this season. He really is going to allow justin to determine. When is the right time for him to be put in there As long as justin can protect himself as far as making sure that he has enough of a grasp of the offense to to wear he doesn't like for instance he he's able to adjust protections. Make sure that he had some self protected. He's not taking blindsides shots upside the head and he's taking unnecessary hit and then all of a sudden it's messing with his competence all as long as he's able to demonstrate that i think matt will put him in there much sooner rather than later simply because he's better than just aegis is and even if even if he's a little bit less prepared from an experienced stamina he can make up for it because of that next gen speed that they clocked in the preseason. He can make up some of the things. That aren't just perfect. Matt wants it he. He's been through this before. Although the situation was different in kansas city with patrick announced smith and none. I'm telling you this when he watches justin minute. He's not sitting there going. "It really. You know coach to to even expand on the baseball saying. I don't know how many people really know how deep justin feels baseball background was. How good of a baseball player was he was e- seriously a high level player was something that he just did because he can do it in high school now was a high level player. I believe the play more because he kind of gave try wall off ninth grade. If i'm the second and from what. They were saying last year or two years ago before he went to georgia. If you would have played more baseball Protected the first round pick so yeah that downs. How level baseball first round baseball pretty high level coach i would love you know just with these two kids. Those kids being together coach. They ever trained together. Digestion a trevor ever trained together and if so what was that like well we only did it. One time i said to what they said why we had it where going into freshman year georgia and clemson. We had him on the field together and usually neither one of them talk doing a session. So this session was even extra quiet because you could see the competitive level. Go ankle ankle in this type of session where you don't really say much just watching it. Enjoy it because it was much to say they. They went at it from head. Start to the finish and it's pretty good inspiration hit coach. How unusual is it to have to. I mean top. Picks within thirty five miles of each other is their quarterback talent in that area in georgia. Yeah right now. I'm kind of biased. Way yeah i think you have a good group of people training quarterbacks in atlanta right now and atlanta has kids. Maybe fifteen twenty years right. Now be one office in georgia. And i don't know if there's a high bid but something's happening in some some good is happening now in and we'll take you so like i said those two kids are helping so many accused that they probably don't even know about foresee dreams clinton at the next level or even making an nfl. Some guys who have spotted at potential very early in justin feels lifetime where they've seen really developed from a guy who was kind of under underrated prospect of becoming one of the top prospects as a high school quarterback to have success. Not only a joy to begin at ohio state to being a guy that was taken at the top of the board. Ron veal mad dickman. Justin feels high school football coach at harrison high ron day trend deal for coach. Justin feels that elite eleven. John beck who coached him doing their pre-draft process Jk dobbins a couple of his teammates all provide perspective on justin feels. Who was who could be the next level. No doubt and when we talk about him as a player before we get into these conversations With these great folks that know him at his has as anybody buck. I think the sky's the limit. We talk about everything you can do. You talk about the ability to create plays talking about his ability on design quarterback runs. The six podcast are these three sixty episodes. We do before the draft where we highlight a couple of top players and we devoted an entire episode to doing a deep dive as if we were scouting right cultivating those sources talking to coaches teammates. Anybody we can find to learn more about a player. And i feel like we've got a pretty thorough. Look coming your way here on justin fields. Yeah think is a very thorough though because we had opportunity to talk to a couple of coaches. No justin feels really really well Try coaches high school coach. We had a chance to talk to coaches data continue to foster development along the way his head coach at ohio state ryan day and then some of the other coaches and teammates also able to paint a picture on how justin feels has become one of the top prospects in this twenty twenty one draft. It'd be helpful to have somebody on. That's coached him to a championship and We do. I want you tell that story buck for those. That don't know. I wish i could say i could claim but what i can is. I watched a guy play at an extraordinary level at an elite eleven camp. And i think what really stands out to me about. Watching just feels when i i was exposed to when he was a high school going into his senior year just a raw talent daddy displayed. I mean you talk about someone who had the time was really built. like an nfl player Tremendous arm talent could make the throws and for a guy who came in really celebrated as dual threat. He shredded opponents with his ability to throw from the pocket and what was unusual about the way he did it At the time we were introducing what they call pure progression concepts where. It's not just your own Curl flat reads whatever. Quarterbacks are really tasked with reading across the field and for whatever reason it really worked with his game and his eye and he shredded and terrorized opponents with his ability. Do that and i think it gave us a preview of what was to come for him as a college player. I remember going up there. I remember visiting with him talking with him And was like talking to a tenure pro after it was over and visiting with you have having been around him for all time you liked. This kid is the real deal and this is a seventeen eighteen year. Old kid But you got a chance to coach. Watch learn and perform at an elite level. No pun intended There at the elite eleven. And that's kind of where. His journey began in terms of getting on the nfl's radar Say but it started well before that. And that's what we've accomplished here on this episode. I think your argument is dead. Well, we have to talk about twenty twenty-two because you think it's going to affect the draft. So, you know, depending on what this roster looks like in 2022 that should lead you to what they might do two weeks from today to set themselves up to be better off in 2022. So Greg tell the people you say the situation in twenty-two is a concern to you Thirty e Five players are already signed for $167 million dollars of the cap. Tell us why the Patriots are looking at twenty twenty-two and saying to themselves. Oh, man, we got to figure this thing out. Okay. So I understand people are probably like you know, what what what are we doing? You have to understand that teams run on a different tracks at the same time. Yes, they are looking this coming year with the draft and things like that.
