"For Porter Jr. On draft night, but they couldn't, you know to move up together, but it off. Particular to deal with big jump up. Yes, they got about 19. You know, I'm sorry. That's curious. I think I'm like 13 me. Look this up on a 16 16. We split the difference here. I don't remember maybe you're right maybe stick to anybody can be fourteen said again. I don't know somewhere in their mid-teens like 14 for it yet. But that was when that was the year when the song 27, right? So you have to yeah, they would have to put the Memphis pick on the table or the sacramental pig which at that before we knew what it was before it right, which would have a good deal now, but you know back then like they were on a premium premium selections of that point. So that's that's a tough one. Now this something I've been talking about other draft trades like that would have been uh, if they thought that Michael Porter Jr. Was the third-best player in the draft or something. Then you might get into a month Justice Winslow situation where you're you're not trading up for the 14th heck right you and your mind you're trading up for the third pick or something like that and you go a little nuts, but obviously it didn't work out. He he's a little scary as a fair wage. Um with the answer is a nightmare. It's a real swing, you know big swing the fact that he's a good rebounder. I think would would help in some ways because he would be probably her former. You don't like Jason and Jaylin both down even interesting said, I just don't think Denver would do it what I do it as a Celtic. In a vacuum taking out personal preference. Yeah, I think you would have to do that. But I got one at 1 tonight. I will admit thing to do would be to trade him. I'm not saying that I would trade him. This is why I among many reasons why I shouldn't be.

"We've never had a beer together stand. So that means I could pull up being president, right? Stugatz. I've talked to you enough to know that's about the last place. I'd want He's is in in the the white white hat. ash before we have to some fun stuff wanna talk Miami Heat basketball with you real quick and bad setup because he make it seem like this isn't going to be flooding. Well, it's not because I I gotta get his local heat. And bill. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's it's going to be kind of a Justice when question, but not really Gordon trying we're going to sit gore and drag on the bench for the rest of the year because we've got our point guard. I no, no, no, how would you approach this Gordon drag its thing and understanding that now you have an asset and Justice Winslow who's taking a step playing that position. How do you manage this situation if your exposure? Well, you put your best players on the floor. So I would put gore and drug each back out there. I haven't been my starting lineup. I might have Winslow in there also, but he's not going to be playing the same role. I mean, he's not and that's going to be an adjustment. Because I do think the role fit him. He was doing a good job there. But Gordon drug which is better. And my guess is the heat still wanna make push for the playoffs and to do that you've got to put your best out there and Gordon drug which is their best coach when you were in Ames that a lot of people stop Fred Hoiberg to shake his hand. And did he seem annoyed at all by having to do that? Listen, I think everyone in that arena stopped. Fred Hoiberg like, we were laughing about it. But it was pretty much true. He was going to join us at the time out after the twelve minute, Mark. And he had to start walking overdue us pre-game because everybody stopped him. I mean, they're probably I don't think he could walk by anyone in. No, he wasn't the least bit annoyed. I mean, he was very gracious. I think he's very appreciative of everything that that town has done for him in that university in. That humility comes across in the way, he deals with the people there, and they they absolutely love him. The mayor Monica might be, you know, just a nickname. But I have no doubts. I don't know the political scene there. But I have no doubts if he actually ran it would be a blow out he'd win easily. Just like me at summer league. Just like, maybe you guys it. You go. "And I said this is a byproduct of the collective bargaining agreement and just how how difficult it is to really maintain a contender today's cap landscape. And so initially was headed down there to write about everything that was going wrong for Houston. And then like my trip got delayed by a week or two. And by the time, I actually got down their heart and had basically made all of the problems relevant. And so the story became about him. But it's a credit to just how ridiculous he's been. And on the warriors side as far as their criticisms are concerned. They're not. Entirely wrong. Because I do think you can look at harden and his his step back. His look the way he's shooting on step Bax is another thing that you can say like James ordinance going to ruin basketball, blah, blah, blah. But like nobody in the history of the league has been able to be as effective with that shot as he's been, and that's not going to be easy to replicate. So, but in addition to that, if I were the Golden State Warriors, I would look at him and be like look half of those step backs are travel, and you look at effective. He's been with the crossover. Well, great. He's allowed to push off on almost every crossover. And so like, they're valid criticisms and the way he's officiated is kind of its own conversation. I didn't wanna get into it in in my piece, but that's all going to be part of the heart and experience like for the next five years. I guess my concern here is if you want to be the next James to not only are you going to have to learn how to do that crazy step back that you're describing. But you're also going to have to convince. Coaches or you're going to have to kind of create a structure that allows you just dribble for eighteen seconds every single possession where your teammates are just staring at you. And you have to be good enough doing that to not have sort of a mutiny against you. And so if I was a high school basketball coach, I would be like, you know, praising Hallelujah to what Golden State stand for. And I would be like banning rockets games from my team. Like, I would not let my high school teenagers watched what hardens doing because everyone's gonna want to do that. It looks like a lot of fun to get to do everything on the basketball court. And I think if you have hard level of skills, you can do it if you don't it will work. Yeah. Well, and it's a credit to Mike dantonio everybody down there just loves that, dude. And I love talking to him. He had a lot of great quotes in the piece as well. So go read it we've talked too much about the rockets, but moving on I don't know if we're going to even get some of our other substantive questions here. We don't need to talk about Justice Winslow, shutout the judge. Justice was we've had a Justice Winslow question on here for the last like three rundowns shot it out, but we've got more we've got more pressing concerns because the fans have been coming through in a big time way at open floor mail at JIMBO dot com. "Gordon Dragages coming back from injury. We add Jonathan's ads low on the show earlier in the week. And he suspects Gorn Dragoj, especially initially, we'll work his way off the bench, and he might just end up being bench player because you can't stunt the growth of Justice Winslow at this point. Because now Justice Winslow is arguably become your best asset. Do you agree with that approach? Now, I have I have problems thinking that that's the way the the heat are going to go long term. Look Justice winslow's done a good job. They found a role for him. He's not close to gore and drag it as a point guard, not close Gorringe, Rog it, she's outstanding. This is a heat team that wants to win wants to be in the playoffs. I think they're going to eventually at least once he's truly healthy get Gordon drug. It's back into the into the starting lineup. I'd be surprised if the heat wanted to go another direction. I mean, they've done it. They've done it once they they tanked wants to to try to you know, right before LeBron came so so they've done it. I think if they want to go that way, they would look to deal drug. But if he's there I can't see and drug. It's being a backup to Justice. Starting Justice Winslow is a commitment to taking as opposed to trying to develop someone On that's. it's become an asset. No, no. I don't think starting Justice Winslow at this point has been tanking that that's been they're they're trying to find their best option. Understood. In place of drag it once drag his back healthy, you're saying your best chance to win is sorting Goran Dragic, and they should put winning ahead of maybe developing someone who could actually become an asset that can maybe be a piece in netting USR. I look. First of all, I think you're really overplaying Justice wins. These played. Well, but if you think Justice Winslow is going to be like a key piece in getting you a star. I mean, I think you're you're way off base. He would be salary to throw into a deal. Maybe but he's not bringing you back star. We're not we're not talking about a rookie a guy coming out of college. I mean, you know, look, he's a decent player. There's a lot of people out there that would have an interest in Justice wins. I hate Justice Winslow. Why did you stay Justice? When don't at just it's just you guys you guys love him so much. I mean, you're going to trade Justice Winslow for who who's the star? Russell is Justice. Yeah. Oklahoma city's going to take Justice Winslow as the key guy. Just and to Tyler Johnson for Anthony, David. Yeah. Yeah. That I'm sure New Orleans would be very very interested. Probably gonna have to. To make a salary contracts out. I love I love the local hour because you know, and then it's not just in Miami. It's anywhere because especially the trade ideas that come up like, yeah, we're going to trade Justice Winslow in Tyler Johnson for what? You were right around the time you were coaching. I was trading Wayne Simeon for like all star caliber players. Yes. And then what guys will do like is they'll tell you, look, I did it on the trade tracker, and it works, and I'm like, wait a minute just because the money works the talent doesn't want. I don't know if I've got the timing right or not. But I'm pretty sure at one point on local radio. Here we traded some Walker for Michael Jordan. Do you think so out Samaki when I was in my in market? I did not think he was as good as Michael Jordan. Shame. Shave That's bull. bull take when I say, Wayne swimming. Do you think salmonella because I do? No, Wayne Simeon. Look, he he just really didn't wanna play NBA basketball. Good guy character decent player. He just really wasn't that interested in the NBA. And I happened to seem five six years ago at Kansas was really happy with what he's doing. I mean it. It's rare everybody thinks that the NBA is this dream thing. But but Wayne Simeon just really didn't wanna play NBA basket and named some others because Johnny was like that name some others that you coach that didn't really wanna be. They didn't love it. Yeah. You know, what there's actually a lot of them. We had a guy in Miami. That we picked in the second round..

"Your local cable or satellite provider the Miami Heat or having a helter skelter season once again, let's the resolution sharks. Why think first off they're doing interesting point Justice Winslow Haley had about that and the ringer. I for me. Let's just kill us on Whiteside. Numb more of this. Let's the five Olympic at the five like Assad is a team as time passed him. Yeah. To be honest, just I'm so thankful that air expulsed has found his light. And is just like all right. I know exactly how to play Justice Winslow. They've been really fun and the Miami are really fun team when they can have four play may. Offers out on the floor and either a rim runner or a floor spacing five out there. And that's that's basically what they're doing. They don't have. They don't have a star necessarily. But you have when you have that many playmakers on the floor thing. Good things happen. They is kind of keeping funky. No traditional lineups for them. Because traditional just not good enough. They gotta keep keep kind of funky out there. Danny you, and I have long loved Justice Winslow, and I feel like I betrayed my love about a month ago on the regular NBA show with Chris Vernon I trashed just as Winslow, and I feel just so heartbroken heaven. You gotta have a next mentality. Don't even worry about. I know I know, but just this winslow's long been one of my favorites. Not that I gave up that I just gave up within the situation of Miami. And it's working out now though, ever since then there were there were some, you know, Michael Kidd, Gilchrist funk on on his on his on his playing career. So I it's understandable. But I've been a fan of his game since high school, and he's just way too smart way to you know, he just does too many good things on the floor for me to to have given up on him. Well, here's the thing. He's got are play point. Right. So and drug comes back. What happens? That's the question is are they that committed to Winslow they'll deemphasize someone like Josh to Lewin's DUIs thing. Yeah. It's it's not that I gave up. It's that. I I was just extremely concerned about a scoring the playmaking was there and the defense is still there. It's always been there, even the leadership, and then intangible factors, always been some that I've been drawn to with Winslow. It's just the scoring was horrible. But, but that's that's improved in that playmaking role though. Do you think his three pointer over the past two seasons? A fluke. He's looking real confident taking them. Yeah. Yeah. I think his three pointer is at least improved, but it's everywhere else in the floor where you know, at the ram. He was struggling mid range struggling if three point range, it seems like it's for real. Percentage makes you wonder though, he still only at a percent from the line and that tends to be the leading indicator. Yeah. It does next up. We got the grizzlies, Danny? Yes. So my resolution for them is let's ramp up. Jaren Jackson juniors minutes. You know, he love it. He is a foul magnet. I get it. I think per thirty six minutes he pretty much fouls out. But he is a historically unique player. You're looking at a guy who takes two point four threes a game. If you bump that up to Perth thirty six I think it's up to like three and a half. And when you pair that with his rim protection numbers, which are absolutely bonkers. So the shots that he's defending right around the rim. He's allowing only forty eight point seven percent, which is behind only javale McGee among players who defend at least four shots around the rim. So he's an elite rim protector. He's an elite big man three point shooter. And when he. Scores over twenty points a game the grizzlies are like five and one, and I think with Marcus all struggling as he has been over the past twelve games. This is the time to really see what you have in this in the youngest player in the NBA pretty much men. Did you charge coordinate this to to praise the Michigan state guys because I'm I'm on this? No. Jaren for years from he was at Alcorn state. Great. I mean, I think worth pointing out for the grizzly..

"Harm drought thirty five, but it wasn't enough for Houston as Josh Richardson dropped twenty two. Without Justice Winslow and Goran Dragic for the heat ending Miami's five game winning streak. Big news hour last night. Chris Paul strained his left hamstring seventeen minutes into the game. And now he's out indefinitely. This touches on what we kind of talked about two weeks ago, John where with Houston even after these five game winning streaks where things look good. It's hard to trust this team because of the health Chris, Paul. Yeah. Absolutely. And it seems to me like they might want to try to move Paul into a different role to try to extend his career out. Maybe they'll ask so much on his body. But because of his contract they really can't because they can't bring any anymore secondary pieces when he's making forty one dollars year. Yeah. And it's the same hamstring that he injured during the Western Conference finals his left hamstring. And really when you injured that hamstring during Western Conference finals that was pretty much the nail in the coffin for the team. So I mean, the rockets really have to hope that the symbolism isn't the same this time around in Brandon. Knight is going to have to be the. Guy who stems up here, except he he right now at this point does not look anything like the last Brennan night that we saw when he was healthy in Phoenix which was what like five years ago, it sure feels like it was five years ago. And I remember I watched I G league game which was maybe two weeks ago or so now, and I don't think he looks that much better than he did. Then how did you look at? He looked like a zero on defense. He got blown by his shot wasn't falling from anywhere on the corridor. I thought his first step a little looked a little bit slow and at this point through five games with Houston. Granted it's only a sample of thirty nine minutes. He shooting eighteen point two percent from three point range twenty percent from two point range. I mean Burnett night right now is zero for Houston..

"It's sixty five to sixty what and since Stockton was really smart because he knew what the rest would call and what they wouldn't. He. He was actually appear. Here's right. He guarded you at times. Yeah, he did. You're talking about dirty in one incident where he was he was laying these dirty screens. And so I, you know, I took offense to win the hitting with a good shot and time out. We're going to each other's bench and we staring each other. And he said, you know you a dirty player. I said, look, who's talking. You got nerve buddy. I was gonna say. Kind of art form. All right. Last one, the website, the ringer has a piece up right now asking this question. I'll give you five NBA players from the twenty fifteen draft class. You guys have to play GM. You have to decide whether or not to give each one a rookie extension. Now, Devon Booker already has his Karl Anthony towns and Kristaps Porzingis are locks to get there. They'll both get paid. So these teams need to either lock these guys up these five names. I'm going to mention to you or let them become restricted free agents. Wait and like what the Lakers for example, didn't like Julius Randle and he ended up leaving. All right. So here's the first one Justice Winslow of the heat by you've coached against him. Very good college player at do I would you extend him or wait, I would wait, Michael. How about you? Justice? I'd wait. Why. I mean, it's just the rule player. He's a nice player, take him on my team, but he's nothing extra special. If you left in winter and the team wouldn't kill, you know, 'cause you know what would him. I haven't seen that growth every single year kind of steady. So I, I would wait miles Turner Indiana extent I would. I'd extend right now extend him. He's a nice very quickly. I think that that guy, and by the way, if he adds three pointer to his repertoire, which he started to last year. Yeah, look out. Yeah, he's he's eligible and he hasn't done it yet. Richard young player. Okay. Yes. Stanley Johnson pistons, I like Stanley, but I'd wait, wait, Justice, admit you, I don't. I don't even know if he knows what he is at this point. I don't think he knows his role. I don't. I don't. He can't shoot and he's, he's athletic, but there are a lot of athletic guys who get to the rim. He's a lot like Justice Winslow, right. You know that you don't know what you don't have to guard him outside. Right. And if you just back up, you got a chance and king from there. Okay. So we're all in agreement. I the lab. Last two are both x Lakers. This is a hard one, especially if you Byron because you spent a lot of time with DeAnne Gelo Russell, extend him or wait, wait. Why? Because I don't trust him. Don't you. You gotta see it? Yeah, I gotta see eighty million dollars. No, I I think he's like a lot of guys if you give them that type of money, then he probably just going to do everything half speed to his credit to de Angelis credit. He looks like a different guy. He's been in the weight room. His body look still contra rant. Yeah. So do Byron's point though. All right. You've obviously put some working in the weight room. Let's see if it translates to the court, Michael weight or extend way too. I'm not in a hurry. Extend them? Okay. Now, here's one. That's interesting. Larry, Nance junior, Michael, what would you do extend him today? Larry's a solid player. Great character every he's like, he's like, they're AC green. I'd love Larry. Nance I'd extended not, you know him. Well, what would you do it? I would extend him right away. And for those reasons that Michael said, plus, he's unbelievable worker. He's a great kid. He plays the game the right way. I think that the right way, I think if Cleveland smart, they lock him up, then they're working on it. You know his. Lives in the area. He's family, greater community cry, found out. He was going back there. He was so happy. He's a really good dude. He. Larry's going back Byron to what you were talking about earlier in another context..

"Yeah they added justin ver lander that in a post trade deadline deal and yeah they did acquire some did acquire some other free agents but last year that was basically what the seventy sixers hope the next year or two or three years could look like tanking does work it's just acquire of volume of picks you get to take some chances and they did and it's panning out but america didn't know that the astros were that stacked nor do they know that the seventy sixers that stacked sam amick joins us covers the nba has an incredible job us today doug for colin this is the heard how much different is it when you see him bead as opposed to just watching simmons without him beat game changer i mean it's for one you gotta get benetton of credit because honestly i was in that camp that certainly thought the sixers we're gonna fall off when joel went down the numbers indicated as much as far as the regular season and that wasn't what happened they kept that train rolling but then you saw the fall off in game two kind of paving the way for joel to come back and and is back in incredible it's built onto the floor i think over the course of the year they were minus you know without him out there which is saying something considering how well the team has played beyond him so impact player fun storyline with the mask i know he's trying to get healthy again but everybody always has fascination with the phantom of the opera style master these wear and justice winslow trying to get ready and step on it so entertaining night and phillies looking pretty good i always feel like when when a team and i know justice windows not older but when when the older team wants to fight.

"Anything else looking for to yeah i mean i could tell you if i was swale stroke what i would do is i would put my five on ben simmons sag and have my enforcement simmons to shoot the ball and the the problem is is p plays it straight the way he didn't game one he's not getting matched up because he's really playing drrajivparti richardson and tally johnson together when you play those three together one of those has to guard ben ben is just too big too long too strong so i i would even i would start bam that's what i would start bam play him on ben simmons then i'm gonna play josh johnson or james johnson on saric and if they come in with ilyasova we'll play when the ilyasova and then that means i've gotta get one of those three guards out of the game probably tell johnson then you play justice winslow on sarah terelia soba so yeah i would start with a big front corporate you have two guys came on the ball in the front court in james johnson and in justice winslow but the thing about miami their strength is their depth and their shot distribution of scoring distribution is so flat it almost doesn't matter who's in the game they can get shot up and they can get enough points on the board so what i would do if i was full shirts alad matchup defensively and just trust whatever five that i have on the floor and probably going to get get some scoring if i've got draw chick and josh richardson justice when slow james johnson bam out there they said they can score points there's a reason they can't score points so i'd start bam starting my ben having sag challenge ben to make fifteen foot jumpers and if if we make ben shoot the ball than the other guys aren't really getting a rhythm and were disrupting their rhythm as team on offense and that's where i would start i don't think he can play three.

"Labour may have had some information as he snuck out the side door with his bad back holding his bad back old gotta go and so i don't think it's enough i don't think tyler johnson justice winslow and amid first round pick is enough either as players or the contracts matching up you'd have to throw some other things in there but i was wrong about what it would take to land goeran drag it because i didn't think they had anything to get corn dragages either and i didn't think that package that they sent them with tanning granger and a bunch of other people would get going dragevic but if the pacers want young players that's what the heat has the worst shooter in the league true efficiency justice winslow that that is an interesting growth prospects watch because the game changed underneath winds lewis feet you can't be and today's nba not being able to shoot no now you can and he's a terrible shooter can get better emmys only twenty one so yeah he yes he could get better at it but that doesn't bode well in today's nba a wing player who can shoot is less valuable than a wing player who can't shoot as probably ever been stinks because he can do everything else really well everything else he can fan he can handle he can pass you can drive elaine he just can't shoot he can't trust them with a wide open shot and honestly i was the biggest difference with the miami heat pre winslow injuring post winslow injury they took off when it was guys like ellington taken the wide open three and said winslow but is in indiana wouldn't indiana warrant young players like indians not gonna want what cleveland has not gonna want kyle corporate j r smith back not gonna want no they're gonna want young players this cleveland have any of those cleveland doesn't have any of those right because you're you're still doing this to gut the only reason it might be enough.
