What No One Ever Told Me About Cats!

"No one ever told me about cats. A dog lovers epiphany the very qualities that made me feel. I could be calm stoic. First time cat. Parents have made me and obsessive submissive wreck of a mother. My days are spent anticipating their needs and desperately trying to earn their love. You're either a cat lover or dog lover. I am a dog lover. I often boasted so my friends have admitted that the core malfunction in their relationship stems from one partner loving cats and the other loving dogs not wishing to test this. I didn't date or even befriend anyone who wasn't a dog lover. But all this changed in two thousand and twenty as far back as i can remember almost all the photos of me growing up head a little four legged free friend next to me starting with the classic summer baby photo of me perched on a blanket on the lawn with tills are doug sitting alongside me. The pattern continued throughout my childhood and dog featured in most of my life achievement photos in junior school. We were tasked with creating our first prepared speech based on the topic. What makes me happy unsure what to speak about. I asked my mother for advice. She looked at me and said hat's easy talk about your outrageous love for dogs and how happy they make you in an unrelenting. Two minute speech. That was filled with suspense. I expose my classmates to a story of unconditional love between me and an anonymous being sharing adventures and anecdotes to convey my unparalleled happiness. I kept them guessing who the other was right until the end.

Tips for Speaking on Stage and on TV

"Into the show steven. Thank you very much for heavy mates pleasure to be here. What was your first experience. I'm being on stage and then on tv by first experience of being on stage believe on was a childhood one a back in what we call it in the united kingdom junior school. I often put myself forward to always be in school. Plays on or close place and Was was fortunate. Enough of more than one occasion to to land a starring role So my first experience of actually being on stage and enjoying that interaction with the audience and feeling that connection with the audience was very very early. I it wasn't until my my late thirties. I actually did any television. And that was a very very different experience a because there are so many things that can go wrong with television in terms of technology and lighting. And you know that whole stress of lots of lights and looking into a camera not feeling the energy of an audience. So those what might those are. My two experiences speaking on stage professionally. I've been doing for for a long long time You know right right back in my twenties. I was on stage In some form women other weather talking to you know groups of retailers whether i talking to chambers of commerce and again for me it's that it's that connection that sucking in the energy of the people around you and interacting. That's the thing i love much.

"Let's rewind a bit and go too little too. When you were growing up because I think it's fair to say, isn't it? When you growing up, you get all these stereotypes sort of enforced on. You don't you. You tend to remember my mother trying to get to wear a skirt wants to wait because she said, that's what girls. Whether it was a big row over that but it was a similar things going on in your household was trying to push the binary on you in some way or my my dad more than my moment, which is weird because when I came out and she did not react well. But when I was little like that was absolutely no an issue we had addressing boggs and like my favorite thing in the dressing boggs was elected. ABC's leopard-print should neely. The Laurie. Today. And it had a goat trim round the neck, and then I think, yeah. HOW SPLIT IN IT? You know I think I'd say go it was a sleeveless dress with gold trim I mean tacky as hell. So Takeda's. But that was my favorite. Yeah absolutely. Follow I. Loved it. I. Felt it was you know this is yes. I love my life I. Always Been Dressing Up Anyway Kate and hasn't been a big deal but then I remember Ed once we have play room I. Mean we're so big class cry you play. So. I remember putting all these dresses on and then going in and feel like look I got all these silly clothes on on my dad's face was he was just like incandescent and just went very nice and. It was like seething. That was that I think the first time that I remember. Thinking Oh there's something wrong doing this you know dot doesn't like it but I don't know why my experience my father is he's very much generation of men were they weren't taught how to talk about their feelings or talk or express emotion in any other way than anger. At how old would you have been? Then I think I was about four five hours really. And then the you go I, guess you getting any attitude, the playground for not conforming to agendas wineries. Yet not conforming with definitely for me it wasn't such a thing at junior school lower. The thing like junior school that just didn't didn't seem factor into people's hey. So, you know Judy School for me. Actually it was a really happy time. I felt well-supported where the no case. But somehow they didn't seem to have that much of an impact on me Oh my thinking or any of that stuff. So every time at school are is singing in the choir. I was in the you know the little school show I was leading. Violin. Bali class. So I was just on cut fruit loop. Any moment are get. That's why I was kind of confused was. She reacted really badly when I came out, but she'd never kind of held me back from doing any of those things. You know if ever there was a little quaint okayed it with me. You know I was like the absolute stereotype epitome of Funky Little A. The. loafing Barbra Streisand, get me that Bob predicts and on the radio I love a all of this like this song, my brothers and sisters used to sing to me all the time in the car was. So my show you've got it the. Match and I was like, okay why are they singing they? Sit Me Oh, it's because I'm not.

Give so much good advice from his new book. Dream big, welcome back Bob! Saving. It's good to be talking to you i. just think of the influence that you've had on my entire family life and it's just fun to be in the same space talking. I, know I'm so excited I love him. We get a chance I know. You're so busy here and there everywhere. You have a grandkid now. Your family, so we're excited that you're spending some time with this I. Do have a grandchild. This little boy. I've wanted a grandkid since I was in junior high school. Because I think the reasons because I saw the way my grandparents treated me and I wanted to be in on that, and so even though I hadn't gone on an date and I, think I may have gone on one date in high school, but it was in law school that I found out what migrate ambition was and it was sweet Maria. Her and I'm like Oh my gosh. I want to get within ten feet of her. I was really busy as we all are, but if you're listening, you know when you like somebody. Even though you're busy, you have all the time in the world for them right? And we ended up at the same place. There was a camp called bridge, and we went up there to serve on the worker. She got ten work crew girls to help out like wash pots, and all that, so I immediately got ten guys because I wanted to be within Takeda. And on the first night there was a woman they were having spaghetti and I remember her pacemaker starved. Choose elderly. It stopped and she like he's planted in the spaghetti. We're like. Oh, my Gosh, but I knew how to do CPR Sadie. So, after thirty minutes we got her going again and a know sweet Maria was thinking that Bob is not much to look at, but he could be helpful in. This is where our relationship really began fast forward thirty two years..

Is Sweden right in its handling of COVID-19?

"When most of Europe went into strict lockdown in much Sweden but the trend social distancing was recommended and large gatherings were banned but restaurants workplaces and junior schools and boarders. I stayed open in pursuit of what some people call herd immunity strategy. So how's it going? And what listens are there for Australia? Will Swedish Intellectual Johan? Norberg is a senior fellow at the Cato Institute and he's author of progress ten reasons to look forward to the future Johan welcome back to between the lines. Thank you great to be back now this week. The Australian Treasury Josh Freudenberg was asked if we would follow the Swedish example as we into the next stage of the vars response and he ruled it out and he said quote. Sweden has forty percent of Australia's population but Sydney tons the death right. The numbers speak for themselves. That's Josh Freudenberg. Our Prime Minister Scott Morrison waiting. He called Sweden's approach a death sentence. Johan what do you think well? I have to admit that compared to Australia. Sweden does not look like a success but in fact nothing looks like a success. Compared to Australia right now except for possibly New Zealand is in the same vicinity but every European country has suffered much much worse whether they've had entered lockdowns or more of a Swedish line and I think that's partly because we got the transmission Into our population at earlier in a more massive stage. It's more difficult to when we have all these land borders next to countries with millions and millions of people and of infected so. I don't think the comparison with Australia is. Is that relevant apart? From the fact that you also have to deal with it longtime when you get out of the lockdowns and when you begin to approach more of an open world again with will global travel then at least the World Health Organization says that Sweden might be a model to look to in any case and and and despite everything so far Sweden has been an outlier when it comes to policy but not when it comes to the outcomes sweetness somewhere in the middle when it comes to European states. Okay no matter how you add the numbers up. Sweden has more deaths than your Nordic neighbours. What do you expect to see in those countries as as Tonga's on that's true so far it looks worse in Sweden? But why is that well? The assumption from Swedish L. Authorities. Is that our neighbors. They have merely postponed cases and deaths. They have not avoided them. They went into lockdown. Which means that in the short run. It looks good but once they get out of it and they're starting to get out of it now. The the lockdowns on the shutdowns. They're bound to see a second wave of infections and deaths the thing to ask when you look at the Swedish model is at. Did we avoid to overwhelm our healthcare system Did those who suffer and died from covy. Nineteen would they have died in any case if they got this disease six months later or twelve months later? So did we avoid that kind of healthcare breakdown and it seems like we did that all the time. The intensive care units have had an excess capacities. Weeden by around twenty percent. So far so it seems like They they would have died from the disease whenever we got the disease into our population. And what I expect from our neighbors. Unfortunately that without a vaccine and that might be a year away and could take much longer. They won't be able to avoid it in the long run and they will suffer those consequences once they get out of lockdown.

"I think they should keep the Victorian in the salutatorian. You know, you don't you got to teach your kids don't get too. Hooked up on your whole self worth on your your ranking? Whether you're third or fifty eighth or one hundred twelfth, but the real world people are uncertain level. Some are the head of a company. Are less significant. If you wanna call it that or just have smaller Tytler aren't as crucial to a certain business. And we just don't give that number. You're the fifth most important person at the company in your thirty eighth. So yes, I always thought that things like valedictorian and your class rank was important for kids to get into college or something. I mean, it didn't wasn't in my case. But isn't that something that kids who do better in school really count on or well, you had the SAT's? But are they doing away with the SAT's, mclovin? There's been a trend where colleges are saying that they won't look at us. Hey scores now some colleges, and then what are they looking at? I don't know. I don't even know if that's true. Yeah. I always thought class ranking was important your grade point average was important, but just gave me the valedictorian. They're still having GPA and class rank. Right. I mean, still the colleges could still tell who the smart kids are like this is being put out there as another move to ensure that nobody loses kids. Cannot lose. That's how it's being posed on social media is that if you get rid of the award for best student there is no best student and the other three hundred kids in the class. Don't lose an you know, it's like there's no first place trophies anymore. Everyone just gets a trophy being posed. I had no problem with people who were ranked head of me and high school, which was virtually everybody. I couldn't have a problem with it was wait. You're you're underneath meet your below me. Wow. Yeah. Fritzy? But it shouldn't affect a kid self worth put in the time. If someone excelled on such a high level that they had the highest grade point average and above everyone else in the graduating class, and they want to give them a little metal and have them make a speech at graduation. Yeah. I don't see whether it's a big deal. But you're proud that you were second in your class. I was very disappointed that he was a couple of tenths of appointee. Or they're away from being valedictorian. I didn't get a chance to make the speech. I was kind of didn't up that bother you. The only reason it didn't bother me that much just because I was very good friends in junior high school and high school with the person that was valedictorian. If it was maybe. Someone else they beat you in eighth grade and senior year. Yeah. Ninth grade and junior high school in twelfth grade, and look, but it was two different people two different good friends of mine, but it would have been nice to have been valedictorian. But I'm proud of that. And whether I was ranked two or one hundred thirty eight you know, you got to get over that whatever you put into your your efforts academically. Why don't we ask the students? What they think it's always grown-ups who make this decision. You know, the grownups are the ones who brought out participatory trophies. It wasn't a kid's going. You know? It'd be nice. We had a trophy around here. We've finished ninth. No, no. You earn it? Like, that's when you win that when you win something. It means something to you. Instead of I have I got rid of I donate it all the trophies. My kids have because there weren't any first place trophies. There were a bunch of trophies. And they didn't miss him. They didn't go. Where's my my seventh place? You know, where's my trophy that I got for taekwondo for finishing the second month? My daughter got a trophy for finishing the second month of taekwondo. And I went would you do she goes, I don't know the honoring your commitments trophy. I have no idea..

"Hope ever had just a great or Earth Day. And I remember the first day where we had to go out. We had to go out. I was in junior high school, and we had to actually go out and house to house on every going to the one house the first house we went to knock on the door. Yeah. Guy. We're here because of Earth Day get outta here. Kids get off my lawn trampling, the grabbed the thing that we always we have we have the video that are I I'm looking at as as we're playing we're looking at the actual video. And what we immediately noticed. Number one. Iraq does not have life when she talked about that. But the other point was there stopping on the grass you're concerned with the trees, but they have absolutely no concern about the grass the other plants on the forest floor that they're stopping all over. They had no care or worries about their lives at all about the weeds that they've been smoking, right? I didn't have any care for the weeds, right? Someone must care for the weeds. Smoking pot kills plants. And plants feel pain. We must all remember this. Remember that though I remember doing that, you know, eighteen ninety one the first story came out ninety one ninety two where they did the university study that they said plans feel pain ironically enough the people doing that study were high. True story. Prove that it isn't true. So we got a great show ahead. We do. Did you see the Blasio talking about, you know, no, more steel and glass skyscrapers in New York? Yeah. Right. So you plan on you. You you plan than in expanding like here in the Dallas Fort Worth area plan on expanding out. Well, the good news is they already have a head start on people living in central park. So. Go live. How far I mean, you you can grow that. Yeah. No. How do you? How do you? How do you grow in New York City if you don't build up? Well, there was a there. There's that's the it's the very lazy and they have the build up because they had no moorland. Right. And so you limit. Now, you limit all the space that's gonna that's definitely going to bring the rent. And if you if you wish to build these buildings we're going to make it so cost prohibitive that you'll have to move to Texas. That's right. Well, he didn't say that. But the and the reason I bring that up is when I saw the story yesterday and eight is mind boggling when you think than that in the time that I have been here in Texas this time, which will be nineteen years in a couple of weeks that just the Dallas Fort Worth area. The population has increased by almost two million people. Yeah. That when you when you think about that? You realize how not the state we're talking about just a city and Houston the same thing. Two cities you're talking about roughly and maybe a little bit estimating it, but probably little under four million people in just two cities in nineteen years. That's unbelievable. You're talking about four cities of the size of a million people that have moved to just two cities in Texas in nineteen years. What does that roughly four buffaloes that would be that would be four western New York areas that would be because you would you would take if you took the call the greater western New York area, which would be including buffalo and Niagara Falls the area Niagara county, which is roughly that they're not even a million there. I think they're like nine hundred and something thousand so. Yeah, you take to make you take four major cities and put them into two cities. But why are they coming down? But when you think about it. Does the Blasio? I mean, are there are the company after the whole Amazon thing you have to ask this question. If the whole Amazon thing to did of you know, the Blasi just outta hell with it. Wonder since it's like. Look, we're just we're not going to be growing anymore. We know we're not going to be growing anymore. So why not pretend that we're environmentally? You know concerned. Right. Well, I think you have to if you're into Blasios position. I think you have to include all of the everything that's been part of their narrative all along. Even if your the the mayor of the largest city in the country. You have to you have to do that. That's what sorry you gotta play the liberal line. You gotta pretend like you're against growth or you just have to be against growth. And it makes out absurd. But even if you're the mayor of the largest city, you got to be pro growth. It's not a contest you're not trying to outdo the number two city. You're you're just trying to do better than you did yesterday. You're trying to bring more prosperity. Oh, no. You can't do that either. No. You can't do that as a liberal mayor anymore. Can you? I mean, that's and this gets us into another question. That. When you you look at what we look at the twenty twenty election coming up, and the problem the Democrats have. You know, you have the boss out there saying really telling his his constituents his city. Look, we can't really grow. And if we grow it's going to be so expensive that really companies which to move outs where the message that we're sending we saw the Amazon message. That was also sent sorry. We don't want you so growth economic growth is not part of their platform. Right now, if it is it's simply what we always here, which is investment in the infrastructure, which means their idea of growth is taking money taxpayer dollars and government spending it, however, they wished to spend it not necessarily for economic growth to help the private sector go because that was the whole Amazon, you know, a problem, but just redistribute the income and that will make our economy go, and I started thinking about it. You know, when you got Bernie Sanders out there. Think about the message that the Democrats were selling just as past weekend. Just yesterday Bernie Sanders doing was was at the town hall was at CNN. I believe it wasn't where's talking about who's asked the question on on criminals should should felons. Should the the Boston bomber should the Boston bomber? And and should people that have commit rapes and sexual assault. Be able to vote and the sexual assault in you know, to be able to vote and vote on issues that might affect women safety. And so he went on for the first minute or so blaming Republicans for everything and then basically came back and answer the question. Yes. And I'm thinking to myself, you're not gonna win. You don't win that. No. You don't win support. You don't have independence Saint doggone it? I just realized Bernie Sanders is for the Boston bomber and for rapist voting. My god. I've got a vote for him. It's about time. It's about time we need this. This is what we as Democrats need to promote this certainly gonna get the independent vote by supporting that no longer Jew. We have to March and and protests with signs that say, please let these violent offenders vote. I'm so glad that my work has led the something. Yeah. And I you know, those are just things that hit me yesterday. There's blasio. A national TV publicly saying look, we're not going to grow here. You know, we're going to embrace the green new deal we're going to brace insanity. And then, you know, pretty Sanders and the way we'll play the audio coming up because the way that she asked the question, you're like, oh, how's it going to answer this and answered it the only way that he can be in favor for which is filibustering the first minute until he figured a way to say. Yes. But such a long time after the original question was asked that he was hoping that it might be soft sold a little bit. Yeah. Right. Okay. I was off so that a little bit because I didn't answer the question until I filibustered for about a minute and a half. And but but still the same thing. Yes. The Boston bomber and rapist and felons who have committed sexual assault should be able to vote even if it does affect policy for safety of women. It's like, wow, you're not going to win. You're not going to win over extra votes. In fact, you're going to turn off Democrats say know, look, I'm pretty progressive. But the way you phrase that question, even even the liberal symbolism in the way that she has to question was huge. Right. Sure. Which was what about women's rights, but we know now. The Democrats don't care about women's rights because transgender rights now supersedes women's rights. So they think about this thing about how the Democrats just hit a couple of years have basically said women's rights means nothing anymore. They support the women's March. But now the women's March has even been split up because they can't decide the Democrats can't decide. Look, we gotta have a meeting here. Everybody getting here bringing some coffee make make sure it's organically. And what's the other thing grown? Organically. Then there's something else to trade fair trade. Yes, fairtrade. Thank you, very much organically, fair trade grown coffee. Now. Let's discuss here. All the Democrats. Let's sit down here all the representatives. We've gotta come to decision to women had vaginas or not. And we have to come to conclusion here we've got to be definitive as to where we're heading in twenty twenty. That's an important question. For Democrats to women have vaginas. Okay. Who has their hat. Put it on now away. Don't put it on because that's wrong. You know when the day after the election in two thousand sixteen. We talked about this. I guess I should've imagined. I'm not sure that I did or not. It's all been such a blur. We've predicted this is where it was going. But now, it it is it's it's beyond belief. It's unbelievable. How quickly that progress? Because we said look by the next election major election election cycle in two thousand twenty it will just be so fractured in the party and the movement all the movements will be fractured. And it has become. I guess here's what I I had not considered fully. I knew it was on the way, but I hadn't considered the impact of the serious nature of it. We can have fun with it. But the serious nature of it is when you have a lesbian that a sitting on the LGBTQ counsel for the Baltimore mayor's office and gets kicked off because she called a heat. He, and it turns out that that he she was referring to was a guy who said he was a woman wanted to get moved to a women's prison did and committed rape and rapist got deference over the woman who used the wrong pronoun, and now Bernie wants to make sure that rapists can vote. That's right..

"WJR. Red Eye Radio. He is Carleen I'm Gary McNamara. Let's go to an Eric has the morning off, by the way. So it's me and you cliff in Knoxville Tennessee, cliff. Welcome you're on Red Eye Radio. Welcome to the show. Hi, cliff. Oh, I walk. Hey, want everybody? The Senate voted present today because they wanted to see is hold a pill. They were toss America up ninety three trillion dollars or twenty trillion dollars in debt. Now, they weren't go ninety three three dollars. Nobody wants that. Bovine Iraq would fall fat that would destroy this congress date three years to Pat off a little more than thirty three three dollars your tax revenue. Well, it went well, it would number one. It would never it would never happen. But it's an idea that was proposed by somebody by a member of congress. See who I'm sorry when it comes to this particular issue. Has put together a report that would be an embarrassment from somebody in junior high school. It is completely devoid of reality. It shows that she is clueless as to how the world works. It shows you how many politicians because remember what is it was it five or six the senators that are running for office right now that all cosponsored it and supported it. They all voted against it. I don't know what they expected why did they endorse it to begin with? I believe they endorse it because there completely clueless. And it sounds good to them. And then after they endorsed something their aides or other people come to them and say, what are you nuts? You can't do this. Look the green deal would never pass muster with United States citizens. We all we all say, I want a very clean environment. What you're going to take this away from me what it was the same thing. When people on the street or asked about a Democrats rest about it. Young people were asked about it endorsed it loved it. This is wonderful. This is great. This exactly where we should be. It's progressive. It's progressive, by the way, we get rid of all fossil fuels. In ten years. You could do that. That's impossible. You wouldn't be able to do that. All vehicles would have to be electric. Right there. It's not going to happen. Everybody must get rid of their vehicle internal combustion vehicles must go. We need to build enough trains. And by the way, she kept backing off and a lot of it. But we remember what was in the original plan. We need the building up trains in order to get rid of airplanes. She backed off on it. That's what was in it. We all know, it's what was in it. Well, I made a mistake. You know, you did you got caught you got caught in something you couldn't defend because you put together something that a child would put together. The green new deal that the Democrats proposed in AFC proposed was put together by somebody with the knowledge of a child as to how the real world runs. Not an adult. Not somebody who understands science in the slightest. But someone who was absolutely clueless. But that's the democrat party that exist right now, you propose something that sounds good. Everybody jumps on it. Then they all start backing away. When they have to be advised because they're all clueless. They don't know how the world works. They all have to back off because they don't wish to look foolish and they.

"So when is that I go on the strider? But there was a problem with people on the strikers and running over there. So I like to be on thirteen not only because it's at the end because it's right next to the strider. Right. So I can get off of it and get onto the strider, and I don't feel like I'm in junior high school, and I want to get on that. The other problem is whatever your station is is your station in all three sections. Oh, okay. So now when you're on the floor, I like to be in the corner. Yeah. And so now she's in the corner. And I'm next her and in station twelve this is so ridiculous. Now, you have to be next to her the whole work L class, which is fine. But then in station twelve the fan is right above station, twelve and its fleas ING. Oh my gosh. I know, but we're very particular working. Will you know what else? I don't like when it comes to the treadmill. I could be at a bunch of different ones. But because they have this new monitor system where on your treadmill? There's a screen that will show your heart rate that so you don't have to look up anymore. Got it when it's it's usually working on it's working. You don't have to look up because that used to be a problem if you were kind of under the monitor, and you could see it, right? That's not a problem anymore. The only problem we really have is that I don't like the seam in the mirror. I hate that. So it's the same in the mirror is in the middle of my face. I'm dizzy, I can't. Yeah. Yeah. Oh my God. That's so funny open. But it is things that you go to the gym like I used to when I used to go to yoga I would get there early because I wanted to be in my specific spot. Right. And yet it bothers you in some way if someone moves their towel too far down. So now, you're in that semen now you look twice as large. You're like, I just can't. Yeah. But I also see. The other side of it. I don't own the treadmill. She wanted to try that spot or she wants that spot and show was a little bit too on the nose. It was just so weird that that she was like she was so friendly to me and talking and literally did not speak did not look at me just was intensely working out the whole time. She's just trying to like get on your level. I don't know. It's weird are well, let's see how it is tomorrow. But here's my thing because I should have got again tomorrow, then you're gonna I'm not going to be there tomorrow. Because tomorrow, I'm filming that thing for ET. What's it called following unfiltered? Isn't that cool? Yeah. What do you? Do you take off all your makeup, and you answer questions? Yeah. I love that c- come with the full phase. And then as you take it off, you sort of talk about tips and nasty questions. And yeah, the only bummer is that you waste a perfectly. Good glam. I know so to take a lot of photos before. And that's all right. Okay. So that was my thing. But here's what I've decided I'm decided to look at the silver lining of all of this. Which is I've been going to this earlier boxing class and uncertain day..

Having a game atmosphere still involved a loved it. But it's different pretty catch nowadays, folks. So you're saying that there's a lot of nepotism someday. Somebody's going to great article on -ficiating now in say in D one also NFL and look at the lineages some of these cats having him had a dad uncle relative, some some sort this that already made their Mark and officiating and that person helped this the first question now to find their break to get into the league. It's just a it's just very daunting right now. And so what I'm saying is we we saw bad officiating on Sunday. If you think that this is the last time we're going to bad officiating as time goes on your mistaken. It's not just the human element this involved. It's the fact that the skill level. Some of these officials is very shallow. He's at work twice. Now. So. The fish hitting south is going to be done to recruit more fficials.
