"Our buddy from NFL draft Bible don't work for sports Illustrated these days as well. Here on CBS portrayed. All right. I know your attention was focused in Mobile, Alabama today at the senior ball. Um, some interesting guys names, guys who are gonna be taken certainly in the first round of the draft, but also a whole bunch of good guys. They're the real Arctic classman or decided to pass on it. One guy who went down to mobile and worked out all week and from what I understand look pretty good doing so but decided not to play in the game. With Dracula's the quarterback from Alabama who, you know, I've been a fan of all year and it really warmed up to and I haven't pretty highly rated going into the NFL draft. Give us what you heard about Mac in practice this week and Why did he pass on playing in the game today? Yeah. You know, I think he had a little bit of a wrist injury or something. Just wanted to rest up, but he did what he had to do, right? He went down there. He created a buzz. He performed well. We spoke to June Jones, the former NFL coach, he said. He's the number one quarterback in this year's draft, Trevor Laurence included, so there's a lot of love. Mack Jones. There's uh Looking like more of a consensus feeling that he is going to be a first round pick, and I think you know this quarterback class is pretty interested in the way it's shaping up. But when you talk about a pocket passer Again, somebody who will get the ball downfield. You know, June Jones kind of referencing his deep ball accuracy, And I do think Matt Jones probably throws the best meatball in this year's draft. And so you know, the problem is when it goes to the NFL, he's probably gonna be playing with the worst. Wide receiver class, that wide receiver group that he's had in quite some time. So you know how does that translate? But, you know, I think that Jones is the guy that you get him in the right situation. Maybe it's Pittsburgh one or two years behind a big band. And I think that really puts him in a situation to succeed. And so I do have some love for Mack Jones. I'm not a tie on him as you are, but I do think he can be a successful quarterback at the next level. Yeah, I would. Rank commits the starting quarterback behind Lawrence and Fields and ahead of guys like Wilson and Trey land, but that's just me, and we've got a lot to do. Coming up. A Zafar is evaluating before we get to the draft. All right, Who else before we get to today's game? Who else from either your own individual evaluation of the people that you talk to in the know? And was there a group of guys who may be would have been better staying home this week, then heading down the mobility. It didn't quite work out the way that they were hoping it would. You know, I think right there at quarterback after Mack Jones, you're looking at a guy like he and book there's there's a lot of love down there. For him. More than people realize and in book may have kind of catapulted human into himself into that day to range. At the quarterback position, but From the skill position. How about Michael Carter, the North Carolina dynamo? I mean, this guy's just a slasher, a casher. He showed his explosion his first He's gonna probably be a top 100 selection when it's all said and done. Wide receiver Dez Fitzpatrick, the Louisville wide receiver. I think he really helped boost his draft stock now, probably around two selections. So that's what the Senior Bowl platform is for a guy that Maybe with the day three guy coming in. Well, now he's looking like a day to selection, so he made himself some money. Cadaret Tony from Florida, probably the best player down there. Jody. I think he's probably a first round pick as well at the library fever. Position tight and Hunter Long comes in 85 Inch Wingspan and Boston College tight and I think now, after Kyle Pitts, who I think is a top 10 selection, I think Hunter Long is now the second tight end off the board, so he helped himself out. He's in trouble, and all he did was dominated. Throughout the week. So David Moore making himself there on the offensive side of the ball, Let me ask about two running backs. One of we command. You wanna winch I wanna ask you about, Um, you know, I'm a Michael Carter fed on and have been all year long, and I think he's gonna be the third quarterback started running back off the board after Harris and at the end I know you're slightly bigger. Devante Williams, his teammate at North Carolina fan by you and I both like him. Uh, both both like both players. I just raped one little bit higher. You rate the other one. "Burger stays in the shotgun on first and gold wide side to his right. He wants to throw it to his right. He does Touchdown Juju Smith Schuster. What a nice job by Bennett put it right on the money and for Juju, his sixth of the year, The Steeler offensive finally smells the chalk. It has been a very challenging Last few days, and I guess at the end of the day we won the game. And so we could be thankful for that. But it has not been easy. This is after hours with Amy Lawrence. Well, nothing about this 2020 has been easy. So Ben Roethlisberger's summing it up right there. But the Steelers moved to 11. And even though it was not the type of performance that Mike Tomlin will ever look back on and be proud of before that Bill Hillgrove with the fourth quarter touchdown pass Juju Smith Schuster. It's after hours with Amy Lawrence on CBS Sports Radio. We're really pleased to welcome to the show right now. Former NFL head coach and offensive coordinator Long time college coach at S M U and Hawaii. June Jones is joining us Now, Coach is so good to have you thank you for a couple of minutes. Law. Um, it was kind of a wild game. It certainly wasn't so I'd love to know from your perspective is someone who had to know like coach but stand in front of teams postgame and locker rooms when you win, but the performance leaves a lot to be desired. What do you focus on? You kind of just move on. You buried the film. You've tried to get everybody on the same page and you go to the next one. You know, this particular game played with kind of a You know, I don't even know how to explain it. It's kind of weird, You know, deal with the covert and everything else, but But Pittsburgh pulls off. They are where they are 11 or no now, right and You know, it could be kind of interesting to see what they do from here on Could you imagine a scenario like this where your game's been postponed multiple times where then you are ending up on a week day in the afternoon. Even though you're home, it's so completely out of your routine. What does that do to a football team that's so used to being on a strict schedule? Well, um it kind of brings everybody together to be quite honest adversity and these type of things the teams that have the right chemistry in intangibles in the locker room. The ones that win, and obviously, Pittsburgh had that. How much does it matter when you've got the veteran leadership of saying Ben Roth is Burger, a quarterback who's seen pretty much everything there is to see in the NFL. Well, it definitely You want one of those guys? That's for sure. I have been a Lamar Jackson fan. And of course, uh, tonight was a little different, obviously for him. Um, I I just really believe that he is one of those special guys on and if they put him in a system and didn't try, toe invented a system where he's still running the ball. Just as the passer. He was in my system. I'm gonna tell you right now he'd be the best quarterback in the National Football League now for people who don't know what is your system? It's passing. It's throwing the football and it's uh, you know, kind of over the last 30 years. What we you know, did and 1987 with Warren Moon and and with so many of the quarterbacks if he was in that type Ted Marchibroda. Jim Kelly. Offense, sisters, the passer. I think this kid is off the charts. So when you have Ah young man who comes in with a particular skills that you think it's better for the team to adapt to him that and try to change him and put him into a system or or make him fit a system that isn't natural for him. Well, we'll work work. What they have done is He's an unbelievable runner. Okay? I mean, unbelievable. We saw that last year on a couple of the runs that are gonna be shown for next 30 years. But The winner in the National Football League. You have to win drone the football and I don't care. I don't care what you say. Because you didn't go back. Bill parse elves. You go back there. Whatever. Where, you know you win the Super Bowl. If you're inefficient, passing football thing, and many people have not believed that it goes against the You know the whole, uh Basis of what everybody thinks you have to do to win, but But over the last probably five years you watched the winning teams in the National Football League. They're throwing the football spreading the field. Three wives, four wives, five wives. They're the ones doing on. Do you know we did that? You know when I say we of the different things that I was on, you know, we didn't have the offensive rules that you have now, And I think about this all the time in 1995. I think our records still hold Had 3 1000 yard receivers of 4000 Yard quarterback and a and a 1000 yard rushing five people over 1000 yards. And we didn't have the rules that it is now, but everybody's kind of figuring that out. Everybody's moved in the direction of the Marchibroda, you know, three wise in the tide and four wise and and the game is changed. Long time football head coach June Jones of S M U and Hawaii and then in the NFL. Atlanta also said Diego spent some time is an OC to its after hours here on CBS Sports Radio. You mentioned that being one big change from your time in the NFL..

"You know, that reminded me of the Hail Mary from Cuyler Murray to the Outer Hopkins Now Washington wasn't quite so locked in, but he was surrounded by Baltimore jerseys. And yet he goes up and gets that ball on bit was a perfect throw by Rafa's Burger. Oh, my gosh. So funny. Chris Collins were said it's a if I remember correctly said it's a play will be talking about for years and all I could think was Oh my gosh, it's week. 12 of 2020. There is no way I even remember that a year from now, much less years down the road, but I understand his point. It was huge for them to be able to convert that third down with 2.5 minutes to go in the game. Anyway, so Tomlin's not thrilled. Can't have it just can't have it. He refuses to make excuses, and I don't know that that's what Ben was doing. But at least Ben was willing to cut his locker room some slack. We just weren't good starts good enough that all the day. I mean, I was so we won, but I sure don't feel like you're just just just not good football starts with me. You know, it's this is ah mental game and this has been a very mentally challenging and draining week. What Not the end of the day. We need toe step on the football field played good football this time. And so, he admits. It was a really challenging week, and I'm glad he does that. It lends a human element to all of this. The first quarter featured four straight possessions with turnovers, four straight possessions, two interceptions, including Ben Rafa's burger in the end zone, and then a pick six for Joe Hayden. There was a muffed punt recovered by Baltimore that led to a touchdown. And Even when the Steelers managed to maintain possession of the ball. They had a pair of long drives, 12 plays and 13 plays in the first half of any with field goals. And so Mike Tomlin mentioned at halftime to Michele Tafoya, that that was their major issue is that they could not finish drives and I think they finished the game one for four in the red Zone. Actually, they were Almost 50% on third down and obviously ended up with some big plays like juice misused her, like Benny Snell getting a couple of first downs on that final drive, and they took advantage of Baltimore's Inefficiencies and deficiencies on offense. Robert Griffin. The third got the start in place of Lamar Jackson. And the passing game was even more non existent. We felt like we had a chance to come in here and when shocked the world on do something special on we didn't do that. And, you know, I put that on myself because I feel like I let the team down. You know, I know. I don't think this was a really comment on injuries, but I pulled my hamstring and on the second quarter And I felt like if I hadn't done that, that we would have won this game. Maybe. I mean, maybe we can always talk about ifs and buts, and I'm sorry that he pulled his hamstring. We did see trace. McSorley throw his first ever NFL touchdown pass in the fourth quarter. And that's one of the things that let Mike Tomlin on fire. And so the question for you is how scary Are the Pittsburgh Steelers at 11 and know how scary are you? You? How scared are you? How scary are they? Maybe you're scary, too, But that's not really the course I'm in such a good mood to that. I have no idea why It's just it's goofy. It's just it's gonna be me. You've got to be May. Also, we've got major MBA news, so I'm excited to connect with you. Where do the Cowboys go from here? To the trade deadline — but as sellers instead of buyers

"The Cowboys easier to write about when they win or when they lose? Uh, they're easy to write about what they lose. When they win. People feel good. You sell more newspapers when they win. That's a proven thing. So there's that. But, man what you know now, sometimes when they're bad, they're just not interested. And they just kind of go away. Like I don't know what it's like to right about when the Detroit Lions are bad. They probably just people are waiting for the Red Wings to drop the puck. But when the Cowboys are bad, there's usually nine different things in Iraq, And this year there, there might be that might be multiplied. So there's you can just pick out of a hat. And and and go from there. What is Jerry? June Jones do now? You know, one of the really disappointments with serious disappointments, obviously of code. But one of the rial lighter disappointments of this year is that he doesn't do press conferences after every game, because I can't imagine. What level he would have reached yesterday. Um, you know, it's Tze one thing to get beat up by Seattle or airy Arizona's offense. They can't stop the run. With anybody, not the Washington football team. They run for over 200 yards. And if you want to pick one area of the Cowboys that does not beat up my injuries. Their front seven They've got Jalen Smith. They got banned arrest. They've got the Marcus Lords they've got. They've got elegance. They got Everson Griffen. They got Tyrone Crawford. They got guys were supposed to be there, and they can't tackle anybody. And then you have the hit on Andy Dalton and that nobody seems to concern about the chief shot by Jon Bostic. That wasn't it took the announcers of minutes to kind of recognize, but they did eventually, So okay, that's that's a brutal Yep. Be Amari Cooper is standing there and there's others around there had to be a number of players see it. I would think the entire offensive line and to see it. On nothing. Nothing at all. I mean, I can't imagine. If that was Dad getting hit like that that they wouldn't have done something but that that just pointed to the the give up factor of this team they looked like in the first quarter. They're out there to see when it's going to go badly, and you know how much it's going to feel like a ground hog day. They got nothing on either side of the ball, but quitting is worse than losing to him. Yeah. And of course, coaches will always and players will fight. You didn't quit. Everybody has a great attitude by when you see something like that, and when you see it That And when you see a team that just gets gassed in the run and announcers every week, whether it's the money, night crew or yesterday was was Moose. Ah lot of destroyed job back and they get very quickly. The out of position on these place. They really get outflanked quickly without defense. I mean, they're they're talking around the fact that team looks very poorly prepared and has no idea what to do in the players. Never respond if Jerry had to do over coaching. Well, I mean, that's what What was it about Mike McCarthy flying in and spending one night at the Jones house and all they were just so wowed by this guy. They couldn't believe it. Now, what have you seen in any game that he brings? You didn't call the plays so anytime the offense was playing well earlier in the year, That's Kellen Moore is offense. So what is he doing over there that he brings Emily brought in all these coaches? Guys he had in Green Bay 10 years ago. Mike Nolan, who hired him 20 years ago. It's just this. This cronyism tied coaching staff. And you wonder, and you wonder how much Jerry thought about like a mat rule. He mentioned Matt Rule one time last December, just after Baylor played in the Big 12 championship game. What a great young coach to thought. Matt Rhule wass. And you're Matt Rhule took over a team that was just God awful and got ready Cam Newton, and they released whatever they are three and four. They compete. Uh, yeah. I mean, I don't know. I don't know that he wouldn't like to rethink this lot. Now it's the first year so I think both the pandemic the DAC injury, the offensive line being completely wiped out. Those going allow the coaches to skate for year. But he has to be thinking this. This may have been a Terrible higher. The Cowboys buyers or sellers at the trade deadline. You know, I don't think they have a lot to sell. I heard somebody saying trade one of their wide receivers. They don't need that many hundreds of it. That's the one thing they have is good wide receivers. You want to trade one of those go You know, Draft Ah, linebacker with a neck injury. That's what that's what excites you about rebuilding the team. I don't think they will do much. There's certainly not Myers, they get by. I mean, I don't know why in the world you would add. Do it to a terrible collection of talent as this many injuries, but I don't expect him to do a lot, actually.

"As the XFL was purchased by an ownership group. Which was led by Dwayne the Rock Johnson for approximately $15 million. And so a man that has worked inside the XFL as well as the Alliance of American Football and formally the GM of the Saints and the Dolphins and executive for the charges of the Seahawks and the 2000 NFL executive of the Year. Randy Mueller joins us this morning on the show, Randy Good morning. Hey, David. Good morning to you. I appreciate you being with us. And what was your reaction to the news yesterday that the rock and the Red Bird investment group had purchased the XFL. You know it was It was one of I think everybody was excited. You know, I was excited to hear it. I was excited to read that it was the rock. It's It's really a solid group that put together this A proposal. I would look surprised that it didn't follow through with the auction like it'd plan, but I had followed that. I think most of us had been any time in the XFL followed it, and I think it's ah, It's probably a good marriage. We'll see what happens. I have no idea how they're going to set it up. And and really play football and window playing football again, but I think it was pretty cool that he's involved in it. And you know his passion for what he gets into a successful business man much much of the same like Vince McMahon. You saw the insides of both spring leagues Recently, the alliance and the XFL. What were the differences between the two? Well, I think the easy answer is capital funding. Obviously, the things that we're able to do in the XFL came with Ah, legitimate funding plan. We're able to Have really good care for our players. We took care of not only the players, but the staff. The people we were involved within the city's It's It's. It's hard to operate on a shoestring budget and India was was a struggle from from the start with finances and we didn't have that problem. The XFL that was the biggest difference. So if finances weren't the problem, then were you pretty shocked that they they pulled the plug on the entire league. I know many of us were on the outside. Yeah, I think it definitely caught everybody off guard. But then when you think about it, I mean it. We're right. In the beginning of the Corona virus plug being pulled on a lot of things in our world. We all have found Grown to adjust to, but it definitely took some of us by surprise. I think the product had proved that it was a viable T The networks like that The ratings were decent. People were excited about it. We were in Houston, June Jones and I and We're averaging 20,000 or so a game on the marketing side had really done a great job there. So it kinda proved that people want to see football whether its followers, right Raina. Mueller joins executive within the NFL. The alliance, the XFL joining us this morning after the XFL is purchased for $15 million yesterday. You have any sense of if you'll have a role or what your job might be, if if and when things restart, perhaps in the spring. No, I don't at all, David, I don't think anybody really does. It kind of depends on the direction in the time. Obviously, I did read some comments yesterday by the new ownership group. I know one thing. They have to be approved by a bankruptcy judge. Still, so that has to happen. And then there was a lot of talk of trying to put together a lead that could actually maybe even play within a bubble in 2021. Obviously, that would be the key. I think there's a lot of doubts out there in the real world. Even the NFL's feeling that right now, so Teo undergo a construction of of a bubble for football is totally different than these other sports, So I think everybody is in a wait and see mode Right now you have a very unique insight into the NFL and training and team building and executing a season. Do you think it's realistic for the NFL to complete its season this year? I think it's it's definitely realistic to attempt I think in this day and age, it may be and this may be more important than exes. And Oh's, then Playersability. It's the players discipline and the staff discipline. I think that's going to be where the Success is found in the NFL. If they're to go forward with the plan they have, but I think it's a good plan is well thought out. Smarter people than me. Obviously it put it together, but I think it's all about the discipline of the players, The staff and the decisions that they make in order to stay inside that bubble and keep it from being punctured that think he were seeing things spring up around these other leagues, and you're talking about From a numbers standpoint, you know, times, 10 times 15 when you're talking about a football group, so it's going to be hard. I think the teams that have the best leadership, the team that has the most vocal leadership. To move forward in this environment and kind of perfect the process of testing and the daily things that it's going to be a grind, and it's going to be different People are going to have to set their lives aside for the most part for the next 56 months, in some cases, That's going to be hard, but that would be that will determine as much as anything one whether it goes forward and survives this Corona virus and so that they can play within it, but also who's successful. The football team. You said you like the play. There was some good ideas. What specifically do you like about the NFL's plan to come back? Well, I personally like the The penalties that have built in for people that breach. I definitely think there needs to be accountability. I think you've got to find a way to. Ah, 11 thing. It's one thing to talk about it. Okay, We got to stay within the bubble, blah, blah, blah. It's another thing to hold people accountable financially for And I think if The players haven't changed. I think if you can make them feel it a little bit in the pocketbook, they're more after state within the rules and guidelines, right? I do like that. I like the expansion of the rosters, especially the practice squad at 16. Now, That's where the majority of the replacements are going to come from. So being able to expand that list and have AH lot of options or some options going forward, But you probably have tested positive. You got to give yourself options. I think those are two things that jumped out at me originally, and I think those are going to be two crucial things that need to be managed throughout the process. Randy Mueller is work for multiple NFL front offices. He joins us this morning on the show. What do you think about the attempt to play football with no preseason games? What do you think the effect is going to pay? Well, I think you'll see it. I don't. I don't know this trained eye will see it. I don't know normal families, but I think it's going to be a little sloppy to start with. It's going to be Ah, you know, the second and third preseason games. Quality in the 1st 3 or four games of the regular season. Your tax body special teams play is going to be a struggle early on again put up against standards that were used to have seen that. That could take a while to come together. Andi. I think that's going to be again like it's a recognisable for the pros to see. I don't know how the fans will know the difference or not, And it's not like they're pulling the wool over their eyes. But just the fact that if you don't practice certain things, you're not going to be great at him until you get a few reps under your belt, and we're not gonna have any preseason reps at all. Randy Mueller joining us this morning on the show. He was the G M for the same to the Dolphins, the 2000 NFL executive of the year. He also worked for the Chargers of the Seahawks, as an executive has worked for the Alliance and the XFL. The XFL yesterday purchased by Dwayne the Rock Johnson for $15 million plus his investment group ready. This was really enlightening. Thanks so much for doing and hopefully the XFL gets off the ground again, and hopefully you're part of it, and I appreciate the time today. Hey, any time, Dave..

"The argument one of the worst performances we've seen thus far in the xfl In in a one hundred yard four interception not down type of a type of a performance So again that's not to say we're writing this team office not to say we're writing. Jones off But this is hopefully maybe that wakeup call of. Hey we need to get better. We can't escape through because we're playing against these subpar opponents when I spoke with ms for Nora Lewis last week she thought she actually said she goes. We'll see bye week six but I feel like we'll lose before then. So they have somebody. Who's really ingrained? News DC defenders team is. She writes about them and she follows them. And that's the team. That's Kinda close to her. She I think maybe she kind of saw this coming with their drinking their own. Kool aid a little bit too much. And and and we you know. I'm a big fan of big. Ma Fan and what we see all the time is that in a rematch. The guy that's already one doesn't change anything because he won last time but it's a new game for the guy that lost so. Are we going to see that? Now are we gonNA see they're gonNA come back to the same game plan that they always just a fluke. Are they going to start changing stuff up? They're going to practice a little bit harder. They're gonNA hit those. Pj Walker saying we're GONNA hit those two days and we're really going to set the tone that this will not a not happen again and be if if there's ever a lopsided victory it's always gonna be for DC so it's going to be very interesting to see how this plays out for the remainder of the season absolutely absolutely it. Was it like I said it was again that I I thought maybe there was a chancellor can upset Him. But I didn't see a other industry dominating the way they did. Yeah for sure. I'm with you there. I don't think many people did. I mean just just for context The first one two three four five the first six scores twenty seven zero before might use twenty four to zero with four minutes and forty four seconds left in the first half before The DC defenders were able to kick a thirty two yard field goal to get onto the board. So I mean this was from the get-go complete and utter domination. So definitely something. I mean definitely something to pay attention to this week. I'm going to try to get on the phone this week and put it on the podcast here with Amar fields. Who was our. La Rider super excited to see what he's GonNa talk about what he's got to say about. This awesome awesome performance from the wildcats. This week me to. I can't wait to hear his take on that all right. So let's go ahead and we're GONNA hit some four point. Conversions for point plays whatever we ended up calling it. I already forgot but I'm GonNa let you go ahead. I am basically. We've already touched on almost every one of these points And so there was. There's one that I completely missed but I wanted your action like I said I is your reaction live And I'll let you start with Tampa Bay. Quarterbacks we talked about it a little bit during the recap but I want you to go a little more in depth. What you think about the Tampa Bay QB's okay as as you've heard me in as you've heard me talk about here a little bit. We had the chance to go check out the game in Tampa and I have to say that. There's there's quite a bit of a a quarterback controversy if you're watching it right now between Taylor Cornelius in Clinton flowers and he talked about the energy and one of the things I really didn't like about it was Taylor. Cornelius got off to a slow starting from the very moment he. He got off to that slow start. It seemed like every time he would throw in incompletion. You could hear the crop booming. And they wanted Clinton flowers and I absolutely hated sitting in practice sitting in the post game press conference. Somebody asked that question to Taylor. Cornelius because wrote about reports came breakdown. I really thought that was unfair. But I guess my question you Josh. Do you think Aaron Murray coming back this week possibly is GonNa put an end to this quarterback controversy. No I do not think so I'll preface it with this. I honest to goodness don't think it matters who is in I. I mean I'm gonNA exaggerate a little here but you could tell me the patching mahomes start next week and people are GonNa start chanting for quitting flowers. The first incompletion that man has this is this is quinton flowers home. This is where like. He really made his a name for himself. It's where he really helped. this USF team just become electric and he was able to lead them. I believe a couple of conference. Championship Games Everybody loves Q. in in what he what he brings just as a person As a player as a as as a dad I mean as a family. May I mean everything about him This city embraces that now. I don't necessarily think that is entirely fair. Even to a guy like Clinton flowers because I think that just throwing all of that onto quinton flowers to win. These football games is not again. It's just not fair for him because if he does not succeed. Where does that put him? You know what I mean like I if he's not ready and they throw him in because that's what people want. He doesn't do as well as his fans think. How quickly will they turn on him? I know you and I talked about it. It's like it's like dating a married woman. You know me like you already know. She's kind of unfaithful. And that's what we're seeing kind of what this this fan base is that you've got a guy in Taylor Cornelius. That was winning this football game. There were different lead changes. This wasn't a game where the roughnecks were in the lead in Tampa Bay came back. This was this was a game in which Cornelius was leading them and and they they were winning and in the roughnecks would take and then he would go down and they would be winning again and the whole time he's dealing with. We want flowers and quit flowers chance now. I'm not saying that I don't think is a good thing publicly like for for to sell your tickets but what I am saying is I do think it is unfair like you were saying. I don't think Aaron Murray coming back I honestly. Air American win the rest of this thing and win the championship game and threw for ten thousand yards in a million Thais downs. And we're still gonNA quit flowers chance and I don't think that's necessarily unfair from the fan base because this who they're coming to see that's their guy. This is that his family to of these people in so I don't think it's necessary. Unfair from the fan base by. Don't think it's fair either for these other quarterbacks and I don't think it's necessarily fair to quit and flowers himself because again if the coaches maybe don't think he's ready they don't throw him out there and let him stumble in front of all. These people that we know are willing to turn over on him are at least on the quarterback in the football game in see what's funny about it is like I think it got so chippy. To one point even June Jones in his press post game press conference said something about where he said Taylor. Cornelius was by far and away the better of the timing. The timing throat quarterbacks. Absolutely and that's definitely what we're looking at not again. I can go back to the PJ Walker Jordan table debate We're kind of talking on the same day you know. Jordan's doing when he has to do to win football games and PJ Walker is also doing what he has to do to win football games more fun to watch. It's more electric. When you see the box score. Looks better and you you you get from Quinton flowers you get that on him scrambling around and taken off on a long run or extending a play in directing traffic like you have that kind of stuff for sure and so it looks better. It's visually more fun to watch..

"Look at right throw date he's got Walker that's how it sounded the first touchdown for the Houston Roughnecks of the XFL on K. F. C. in Houston Texas is that the radio call because well we work with that guy here in the building John Coronado injure and I do but also the big broadcast called on the renegades on their first touchdown the renegades are playing right now the renegades are in Dallas you can't mess so put Dallas and Houston names if your call the Texans the cowboys the cowboys the Texans the fans would be upset that I will storm your booth with pitchforks and torches much like your Frankenstein's monster so the course we work with Johnny G. so we're not a with fantastic my produce the game to sell you did so we might be using those calls yeah there you go so Peter Walker formerly of temple with a touchdown pass that one oh four XFL games in action this weekend if you haven't heard the XFL's back Vince McMahon's poorly thought poorly designed idea at the turn of the century the failed miserably lost him an NBC millions of dollars is back in its much better actually it is totally better instead of taking two months the planet like Mick mankind it did last time he took two years to play this used his own money he found broadcast partners that love him and he loves them in ABC and fox and ultimately right out of the chute the XFL feels better not only better than the last version of the XFL but the XFL feels better than a year ago we were all watching the eight eight F. the elf felt like a bunch of guys who work any good trying to flight NFL football and they had a bunch of coaches who work any good coaching them the XFL doesn't feel that way yes well not only feels different from a player perspective but it feels different from a coach perspective Bob stoops is one of the best college football coaches in the past I don't know fifty years you think about what the defenders put together on their crew with Gilbride running the show that may have had success in the NFL a bunch of different stocks June Jones revolutionary college football coach even some of the assistant coaches involved in this thing how mummies calling plays for the renegades right now you don't how mommy invented the air raid you know what everybody does a version of the error rate now it feels different that was the most important thing and here's the big thing it doesn't feel like enough Phil football because it doesn't have to feel like an awful football it says the feel close enough to football and that's what it feels like the new rules have actually been really fun to watch be used the kickoffs I mean how we not do every kick off at every level like this I love the way they do the kick off if you haven't seen it the kicker is all by its lonesome way back where you usually do kickoffs and then you've got ten guys on the return team in ten guys on the kicking team and they want about five yards apart from each other nobody can move to the return man touches the football and then it's exciting it's very exciting it's better to kick off traditionally it's better than a touch back I like that I haven't seen the double pass used much yet that was a big thing is you can have two Ford passes on the first pass goes behind or the scrimmage haven't seen that really implemented to success but the two minute comeback period so you have a two minute warning then you have what's called a call back and the come back period the clock stops after you run a play doesn't matter if it's a pass for a first down it doesn't matter if it's a running play it doesn't matter if it's a running play for a loss it stops until the ball is spotted and five seconds from off the play clock I kinda like that you don't have to burn a bunch of time else you'll have to run a bunch of stuff that you don't typically run you can run a play over the middle if you're a motivated offense you could take a ton of advantage of this I like that the rules have been fun to watch the broadcast have felt like big time broadcasts you had big time names broadcasting this big time broadcast partners and when I turn on the television next week it's going to be on those same big time networks unlike with the AF was on CBS for a weekend and then it was on a channel that I couldn't find the XFL looks like it might work and here's the thing it doesn't have to work to a huge degree as far as intended standpoint there eighteen thousand people that live today to watch the defenders play the Tampa Bay vipers okay tickets cheap on purpose because when the defenders go on the road the Beatles eighteen thousand people showed up to watch them in their homes on Saturday and Sunday don't you just show up every week I don't make any money off these tickets if you have an opportunity to go Andrew you're telling me everybody you talk to had a blast at the used Roughnecks game I had a blast and I had people said I'm really bummed I missed out didn't go to the game I'm going next weekend exactly exactly the city is that they picked a really interesting because you picked not only football cities but you picked cities of rabid football fans okay rabid football fans not rabid NFL thing it's not rabid college fans rabid football fans Houston's a melting pot New York some melting pot Saint Louis is the melting pot of the Midwest rabid football fans good high school ball in Florida good college ball for now well maybe not now but XFL ball they stunk but the fans are.

"Good. What's on your mind? What you're talking about how we want to rein in this president's and upcoming. Trade deals. The point of that is sometimes deals. You're bad. Control. Yeah. Well, I mean away, they say that, they, you know, since businesses so vital to our economy, and you need to be a bit more predictable when it comes to trade, they don't want the president jozy as a weapon, but you heard it, it's such a long way to go for that to happen is just something that they're bantered about. Because, for example, if you're a General Motors, or if you're in, if you have this, you're making things in Mexico for certain price point that are going to be sold in America. And all of a sudden you found out tariffs are coming down on Tuesday that messes your whole business plan causing unsettled nece, and they want to see the end that because they never had a president use trade to this way. So that's what they're doing. Jeff. But I would really prefer. Squeeze our servicemen and women around the world. And. Outside of. Don't let terrorists because that's too. Diarrheal is Jeff the presence using every weapon, he can he has a goal to secure the border. The congress is just ignoring him. So he decides to get more fun from defense, which he funded seven hundred seventy billion a year. So he's able to repurpose it. They fight him in court, then he has border patrol there. He gets more jobs and now border patrol is overwhelm. So they need more money for humanitarian causes. They won't give it to him. So should the president just quit should he just focus on something else, or your President Trump? I'm gonna find something else to do precious. His men and women to come up with another option and they listen you could hit them economically, that'll get their attention and maybe hit him in Mexico. That's where they're coming through. So we does it. So don't blame them for being resourceful. It's because congress took over the logical pathways to controlling this thing. Thanks so much for the call something else right now. It's the women's World Cup and hope solo the one of the most controversial. And by the way, the most outstanding goalie the US has ever had in her heyday, but his age data the national program still a little angry blames the coach for falling short in years past if they don't win a World Cup blame. Her listen to be quite honest. He's not the leader. I wish her to be. Relies heavily on her assistant coaches. See. Cracks into the pressure quite a bit. Oftentimes, it doesn't matter because the quality of the players on the US team is surprised. Tandis. I mean, this is what you need. This is the Charles Barkley of soccer, she should be in the studio. Plus goalies catchers. They see everything they know who. Good defender is they know what a good offender is because they have to stop shots and they need to be protected. I that cheats to be in studio. But she just had a little problem with discipline in the past comes from a very hard life. I was gonna say she all mastic violence and whatnot. So she's always in the news, for the right reasons, but she does have a refreshing take on things. She's very right? And I think she borrowed the team van with her husband and went to a party, which I don't think for kids listening. Don't do that. You ask permission before you borrow the van to deal, thank you. That's good parenting. Let's find out even more to know. Cleveland Browns quarterback, Johnny Menzel wants another shot at playing pro after all he signed with the alliance. The alliance folded the next week he's twenty six years old believe, or not former Heisman Trophy winner was the CFL, and the Hamilton, then traded over to, to Montreal never really stood out. Then went to the spring league didn't stand out now. He has another idea. He wants to join the XFL and rejoin June Jones on his the in the XFL, which launches in the winter right after the Super Bowl. What do you think about that? Pete. I think it's a great opportunity. He needs to rehab himself his public image. Have a good season back in the NFL.

Taper anymore, actually. Go that I've that I've always enjoyed probably fifteen eighteen times, and, but hadn't gone the class couple years because I was working. So, yeah. So that was pretty fun. And. Kevin central you know, nobody doesn't they'll by high school doesn't play. C- c-. In many sports. So, you know, the big rival is still. And so those are some pretty fun games to watch regardless of the sport. Great school, Kevin Catholic central. Figure four. Well, I'll I'd always. Both is a great school. Yes. Yep. Yep. From Kevin in Detroit, George. What was your favorite team to cover here? You know. That's hard. I mean. They're all funding in different ways and. You know, I I told her story when I was leaving the paper this enough. Anybody remembers Detroit's Jerry? Arena football came. But this is why that was one of that was that was a great memory for me. Boss Davis, on time on practice and I say you know, I'm not not really can get his plays. You know, I'm hearing all this, you know, crazy lingo, that's different from, you know, college or or or pro football. And, and he says, as well. Let's cut a guy all of this game you playbook. I thought he was joking, you know, and because offense to lime in a couple of days later, and I came to practice and he handed me the playbook. Love to hear. Sounds brilliant. Man. It was amazing. It was as I said, the only condition is don't, you know, don't ever. You know, don't ever give it to anybody or anybody else. Look at it right. Or have it. And I still have it. And but so that's that's, that's that was just amazing. Shocking to me that, that he would do that. But it it certainly helps what did you think when he him him in June Jones had that offense? And that was great offense and, and Wayne, not my cocaine funds ditched it because he restore there were scoring two quick and didn't allow defense to get ready to. What did you think of that? Lasko. Well I thought I thought the offense was amazing. You know, I used to ask him about about that with Barry, because if you're a member, you get criticized, you know, for not for not running berry more and, and I remember him saying, you know, oh, you kind of, you know, mouse, always joked around. He's probably I'll probably had two or three years on his prayer. You know by by not not running in, you know, like look at, you know, many many times of game. So I don't know if anybody by buys that. Yeah, that was what he does what he said. So but they you know they they led the league in scoring until funds, an infant infant, an infant wisdom October. So we gotta ditch this, and June Jones then went to why did fantastic about most Davis? They invented the running shooter. They were brilliant. Well, remember that winds are supposed to be the candidate. Not the Cowboys. But, you know the other going back to that question though, I lotta fun covering mission in hockey all the college hockey teams. No matter of fact, and you know that cover, you know, Red Wings when they won the Stanley Cup. So that was that was pretty fun. And you know those tiger teams were fun to cover. You know, you know, got got called glass half half the aloft by bright by brand office. But, you know, but, but even. But even that was fun. 'cause I didn't really care what they said. But I, I would imagine it's pretty brutal cover this team because. Not not a lot of guys. You can you can look to on a daily basis to be. Yeah. To to, to carry the team. Let me ask you this. Do you think that let's take a break here? We'll continue on ask him when we come back about does Miguel Cabrera really wanted to play for the Tigers or does he really want on here? We'll continue George civil.
