"Mariners for the past 7 seasons last season was the best of those. The Mariners won 90 games and made the playoffs for the first time in 21 years. Scott, I'm curious, you guys had such a great season, but as you know, a lot of your peers, they won't watch the postseason once they're knocked out of it. What about you? I was watching. You know, you get so tied into it and there's nothing like postseason baseball and so long since the Mariners had been in the excitement. Not just around Seattle, but our whole fanbase at the Pacific Northwest was just on fire, everybody was so Jack about it and then obviously there's only one team that gets to go home happy and when we got eliminated, you're curious how it's going to play out and constantly thinking about how your team may have matched up against some other teams, but it was a huge season for us. We made a big step forward. And we got a lot of good young players and we're looking forward to getting back out there in spring training. So I was talking with one of your peers this week who said that he's got a friend in the Phillies organization and he talked to him after game three of the World Series when they hit all those home runs, they had a two to one lead. And his friend said, so, what do you think? And he goes, you guys aren't going to win another game, because this is where the depth of that Houston pitching staff is going to take over and sure enough, I mean, were you kind of nodding your head is that World Series played out because that was something you dealt with all year. Really, really was, you know, obviously you said great, great season and very deep pitching staff like you noted. And but the one thing about the playoffs is that you can get caught in the emotion and you've got to ride the momentum wave and watching what silly was doing early on. I was like, oh, they're going to make this interesting and certainly when they got the lead. But it's hard to keep hitting when you get that kind of pitching your face in every night. So it was not surprised the way it turned out. I did think it was a good series and Philadelphia played very well to get the couple wins that they got. Right. So what does task or Hernandez bring to you guys? He, of course, one of the first big moves in any team has made during this off season. Certainly he's got power and we saw it on display in the playoff game up in Toronto. He had a couple home runs against us in the game where ultimately able to come back and win. But he's got track record. He's been in the league. It's a big right handed power we're excited to have him. I think looking at some of the improvements we want to make on our ball club. It's trying to get more consistent offensively. There's a number of different ways to do it, you know, and looking at maybe some of the spots we had in our everyday lineup. I mean, he sits great for us. Getting a chance to talk to him. I know he's excited to join our group. And we're excited to have him. So we'll see how it plays out. Anytime you make trades, it's hard. The one thing Jerry departs is not afraid to do is make a trade and we've made a few of them since we've been here for the most part. You're not going to win them all. And that's not the goal of a trade. I don't think is the win and it's just, how does this help our club at the present moment or maybe in the future? And hopefully it works out well for the other club. And I think that's a good trade. That's why we've made a lot. We don't try to win everyone, we just try to look what we can do to help our team and our organization down the road. Where do you envision potentially hitting him in the lineup for you? In the middle. You know, I don't know. It depends how the rest of our off season works out. It's probably going to be three, four, 5. Somewhere right in the middle, and it's a bat that we desperately need. We need production out of there. We got a lot of mileage, certainly Julio Rodriguez said a great year last year. And he really took off and we put him in the lead off spot, and I love having him hit at the top of the order. I think it's just when the lineup slips over, having maybe your best hitter up there. It's really nice to have and he can do so many things. So to ask her fits in great, really anywhere you pull it in, but it's probably going to be three, four, 5, when it's all said and done. So you mentioned Julio, how do you see him growing next year? What ways do you want to see him grow? Well, I think the biggest thing that knowing the league, knowing what to expect, knowing how to, I thought Julia did a really nice job of staying with his routine and his program throughout the season. And it took him a little while to figure it out. It does all young players. We had some veterans around him that helped him out in that regard, but now having gone through it himself and understanding the importance of taking care of your body and staying he had a couple of injuries. He missed some time. Nothing too serious, but couple stints on the DL. Certainly when you lose your best player it affects your entire team. So understanding how to take care of his body, maybe a little bit differently or take the experiences he had last year and helped him stay on the field even more than he has last year. But I think it's just going to get better in the batter's box as well as he understands how different teams are pitching him, attacking him. The one thing about Julio and I think all great players, they can make adjustments for that quickly. We saw that from Julio and he did that at 21. So I got to believe he's got a chance to continue to get better for he's not even into his prime or even close to it yet. You mentioned other moves you might make this winter for you, what's a priority? I just think looking at our team. The key to our season last year was our pitching staff are starting pitching was very consistent when we put the long winning street together and really played great there and leading into the all star break and then coming out of it. It was our starting pitching bullpen was really consistent all year long. So it's really really good about where we're at pitching wise. I just think offensively trying to get more consistent and maybe a little bit deeper lineup. Is what you're looking for there. So we'll see. We'll see what that brings. There's a lot of different ways to do that. I think some teams may be looking out and say, okay, we're just going to plug this hole at a particular position. And we don't always look at it that way. I think Jerry and ingested Holland are very creative and what they're trying to do to help our lineup. There's a lot of different ways to go about that. So they're on the phones constantly this time of year. We've got the winter meetings coming up. So there'll be a lot of activity yet. How are you starting the process? When do you think you'll really start the process of digging into the impact of these new rules against shifts, pick off throws to first base, et cetera? I think that process is already started. When we go to the winter meetings and that's kind of the time, all the managers we have a meeting with people from the commissioner's office and we'll get the low down and all the ins and outs and how the rule rules will work, how they'll be implemented, usually have them maybe an umpire or two in the room at the time. So you get a chance to ask some questions there. But not just me, but I know my counterparts, the other managers in the league are looking at it and trying to figure out ways to address the rules in a starting in spring training and it'll be a little bit of an adjustment period, but players make adjustments.

"Here in Toronto, it went completely silent. So chaos ball. Mariner magic, whatever you want to call it. Our city has it once again because the Mariners did something amazing with one of the best comebacks you will ever see in any sport, but especially in baseball. It was tied as the largest comeback for a road team ever in the playoffs. This is how we got there and this was the scene after the game, obviously there's the champagne celebration like we saw at T mobile park 8 days ago. Now it was here in Toronto so you bet it was a celebration. No question about it. But the party had so much emotion after what was really almost unexpected win. It continued for well over an hour on the field. But fans that traveled from Seattle reveling in the best scene we've seen in two decades. And as you can imagine, that emotion from the players, including The Rookie, Julio Rodriguez, was showing in that celebration. How special is this celebration right now? Most of the second one we're getting. Well, hopefully we can roll. And how does that speak to the clutch factor this team? The home run last week for the comeback today. Were you saying the game? And that's what we are. That's who we are. And I'm happy to wear what's going to be at the end. You know, I asked you the same question last week. You guys have delivered some things in Seattle, I haven't seen in a long time now. They get a home playoff game next week and it's all because of this team. Have you thought about you? I thought the city, the place everybody's Seattle the server. And I'm happy that we were able to go back and go back and shout and pray for all it doesn't make America safe. We heard Scott say this team is just getting started. Can you speak to that one? Oh, for sure. For sure. Get trusted each other. Who we are. That is going to make you look forward. I need some of those goggles, my friend. All right. Let's go. Congratulations. Now

"Because that's annoying. Yeah, I think what Nathan said is the right standard. If you feel like you've been there, if you feel like you've seen it inexperienced it, then yeah, you've been there. And I would probably need to do more than just walk in and out. I mean, I would want to see some different perspectives. I just said I'm happy just sitting in my seat one place in the entire time, but if it's my first time going to a ballpark I'd like to walk around a little bit, just like on the concourses, just get a feel for the place, just see what it has to offer, what it looks like from various perspectives. So I think that if I have a mental image, if I have concrete firm memories of what it was like to be there, what it's like to be in that ballpark, what that experience was like for me, then I feel like I had been there. I think that would probably be my standard. Obviously, like if we want to be pedantic, which usually we do, technically, you set foot the place you've been there. During a ball game at least, but if it made an impression on you, I think that it has to have left some sort of impression on you or else you're just kind of checking off a box without actually getting the enjoyment that one gets from being at a pop park and at that point what's the point? I briefly had a project of visiting every minor league park and the little corner of the Midwest where I've often lived. I gave up on it because it was impossible. But I saw a Willie Nelson and Bob Dylan at the minor league ballpark in Peoria, Illinois. Cool. And I wasn't planning on counting it and then after spending the weekend in Peoria, I decided that I'd earned it and that I was never going to go back. So I counted that. Sure. Yeah, all right. Also, candidly, I mean, I know offense to the minor league games that are played there over the players who play in them, but you probably had a cooler experience than you would have to set a random minder league game, you know? Yeah. Yeah, there was a thunderstorm with big lightning over the stage too. That's great. It depends on the day with the old pub. The concert in the south. This was a good day. And he had a good band at the time too. He always has a pretty good band. That's good. I've had variable experiences with him as I think everyone who's been through multiple bumps. So am I. I have enjoyed seeing Willie Nelson in concert every time I've seen him. All right, Andrew says, I'm happy for Julio Rodriguez and he is a true natural talent who has the ability to be really great akin to say Fernando tatis, but isn't such a long-term contract potentially demotivating to some people. Not saying that J rad only cares about money, but is there not something to be said for working toward your next big contract? If you know you're already locked up for your prime years, your next contract isn't for some time and you could conceivably chill out or do stupid stuff like wreck yourself on motorcycles not to say that players wouldn't do this stuff anyway, but curious to hear your thoughts. Is it possible at least with some players that it might not be the best thing for them to have a long term extension because they might lose some spark some edge. Some little bit of motivation. Sure. I mean, I think I don't want to always feel so fraught, right? Because I don't want to attribute feelings or motivations to Fernando Tatís Jr. that don't exist. For me, when I am trying to understand the behavior of someone like tatis given the long-term deal balanced against the motorcycle stuff and the PEDs, like to me, I categorize that as an error of judgment, not a deficit of motivation. Which I think is importantly different in a question like this. I don't think that teams are perfect in their evaluation of even their own players, even players they know very well who have spent significant time in their systems. I know tatis was an initially signed by San Diego famously. But had been around for a while before he even made the majors let alone was given the extension that he was dead was a big leaguer. Right. Right. So you have exposure to titties, guys. That doesn't mean that you have perfect evals of everybody, but I think generally, you know, when you are trying to decide, is this a player to whom we would give an extension of this length, like one of the binary yes nose is around sort of motivation and commitment, which again doesn't mean that there are an exceptions and it doesn't mean that that can't change for a person over time, particularly when you're giving an extension to someone this young, you know, we don't we don't really know what kind of person Julio Rodriguez is going to be long-term about Julio doesn't totally know what kind of person he's going to be long term. He's 21. We've gotten some, I think, really loud and positive indicators. But people change and sometimes quite dramatically over the course of their lives. But I think that one of the first things you're trying to assess if you're a team and you're saying, do we want this player to be a face the franchise do we want him to be a forever insert team name here? One of the first things you're trying to determine is is the motivation present to contribute in a meaningful way for a long time. And then you just have to hope that that motivation remains relatively consistent over time and that other factors like injury, judgment, and just consistency of performance don't undermine that motivation. So I think that's the way I think about it. But yeah, you just have to, I mean, I'm sure that there is a holding of the breath that goes on for a while. And we know what it looks like when things go badly, even if it is a matter of judgment rather than want, right? There are definitely people in San Diego who are pretty pissed at tatis and how he can salvage that, I think, remains to be seen. So yeah, it's

"Of the ringer joined by Meg rally of fangraphs hello neck. Hello. Julio. Julio. Forever Mariner. Forever Mariner, maybe it certainly seems like, boy, this extension, I'm still processing the terms here. Oh yeah. We all are. We're gonna have to just read some tweets, I think, Ben. Yeah. I think our only option is to read some pass and tweets here. Right, yes. Jeff has a whole threat here. Red. So let's just read the threat. Should I do you want to go like every other? Should I should I read all of them? How do you want to do this? Okay, I'll lead off. You could trade off. Every other tweet. Okay. There's a lot to digest Julio Rodriguez extension with Seattle per ESPN sources. The deal could be for 8 13 16 or 18 years. It guarantees Rodriguez $210 million if it maxes out, it will be the largest ever $470 million, the details are important. Here they are. The base of the deal is for 8 years and a 120 million. It includes this season and runs through 2029. After 2028, the Mariners must decide whether to pick up a club option, the size and length of that depends on Rodriguez's performance in MVP voting. The option is for 8 or ten years on top of the original deal depending on how Rodriguez fares in MVP voting wins and finishes it can range anywhere from 200 million to 350 million if the Mariners pick up the option Rodriguez's guarantee in the deal is at least 320 million. Now, if the Mariners don't pick up the option after year 7, Rodriguez has a player option after year 8 for 5 years and 90 million, thus the 13 year structure and $210 million floor. He could turn it down and hit free agency right before his 30th birthday, too. Here I will editorialize and remind everyone Julio Rodriguez, just 21. Yeah. Less tweet, the likeliest outcome who you're a Rodriguez is a Seattle Mariner through 2037. That's not a really year. Is that a really year 2037? I am a column of dust. Is that what we get the flying cars finally? And makes at least 320 million, probably much more, and if he turns into the monster that he has shown he is in his rookie season, it could be the most financially lucrative deal in American sports history, although who knows what inflation will have wrought by 2000. Be living on the moon by then. So this is obviously super exciting for Mariners fans and probably pretty exciting for Julio. Yeah. It's hard for me to even analyze the terms here in the way that we often do to try to gauge team friendliness or player friendliness, like, I don't know. There's just so many moving parts and options and vesting thingies and incentives. It is a lot of money regardless, and I guess it's the most guaranteed money that a player with his service time has gotten or at least his level of major league experience, I guess, surpassing wander Franco's extension and he, unlike wander, has a full year of service time, or is just about to because he came up on opening day this year, so I guess maybe he's more of like a one to two service time year player, but even for that, it's a record deal. So it's a record. I think we could say that. And how favorable it is to one party or another is sort of tough to assess, I suppose. I mean, we're still assessing Julio is as a player. Right. And who knows what this deal actually ends up looking like and how much he makes when it's all said and done. Okay, can I do, I'm going to do, I'm going to do a tiny, annoyed reaction. It's going to be tiny. We're going to get it out of the way. 'cause it's not the headline here, because you're right. The headline here is Julio Rodriguez effectively in all likelihood forever Mariner. I guess as an editor, I would just cut that down to Julio Rodriguez forever Mariner for the sake of brevity. That's what a sub head is for Ben. And he is just the face of the franchise that was effectively true and now it is formally true and what a delightful turn of events, this young guy who is just effervescent and so exciting and so talented and now he's a forever Mariner. So we're going to be excited about that part and we're going to be happy for him that he is guaranteed $210 million, but I'm going to pick I'm going to pick a knit. I'm going to pick a potentially $150 million knit Ben. Okay. I really don't think it is great for voting members of the BBW AAA to have this much influence over how much money you want. And I will sign an example closer to home. I shared on our last episode that I have an NL rookie of the year vote. I'm not decided on how I'm voting in that race and I am not revealing my vote on this podcast because you get yelled at when you do that. You get some, you get some feedback about doing that before the award is announced. But I think that when I learned I was going to have a vote in that race. Michael Harris the second had not yet signed his extension with Atlanta and our listeners will remember that Michael Harris the second was Harris was not up on opening day on like Julio, right? And the way that the CBA works. If you're a top two finisher in rookie of the year voting, you accrue a full year service time, regardless of whether of when you were called up, right? This is one of the measures that they put into the new CBA in an effort to combat service time manipulation. And I was very uncomfortable with the amount of influence I was at that time going to potentially have on Harris's service time and his free agency timeline. I thought that that was that. I think at the time that the CPA was enacted, I probably didn't say that because there were so many things for us to talk about and I was just so relieved that we were going to have a season, but it just fundamentally isn't the job of writers to have this kind of influence over the trajectory of a player's monetary future, right? I just don't think that this is what we're here for. It's unprecedented, right? There are all kinds of bonuses built into contracts around MVP or Cy Young finishes, right? There is precedent for this sort of thing to a degree, but not generally to this degree where there might be a $150 million swing in Julio Rodriguez's career earnings depending on how the MVP voting shakes out. And I think that directionally the stuff is aligned in the right way, right? Where if Julio is doing as well as we think he will, he'll make more money and the Mariners will be happy to pay him that because he'll be producing at an MVP level, but MVP voting is sometimes really difficult.

"Start with at his Jack physics. His Jack with an exclamation point. Can't wait to listen in Jeff. How many diet mountain dews did you go through at this year's trade deadline? Do you have a backup drink of choice in an emergency situation? Because this is an audio medium. You have not seen this, but I'm curious. Taylor and Sarah have you seen me drinking a diet Mountain Dew already this morning? I am a big fan of your love for diet Mountain Dew. And I think it's responsible that you're going diet, of course, you know? How into Mountain Dew heavies. Are those in your diet? No, I do not do Mountain Dew heavy. But I did do spiked Mountain Dew at my fantasy baseball draft this year. I love it. Do you guys know what the name Mountain Dew comes from? Not a clue. Like the etymology of Mountain Dew, Mountain Dew is actually a nickname for moonshine. Like for backwoods brood in the hills of Tennessee moonshine among all the things they called it, one of the most popular was Mountain Dew. And the fact that they made Mountain Dew with alcohol this year, when I drank it for the first time, I was Frank the tank in old school. When it touches your lips, it's so good. And I haven't had one since because I feel like I could, you know, if I'm going to go full Will Ferrell, I feel like I can, I could potentially end up with a really long beard and needing rescue from Baxter because Mountain Dew like alcoholic Mountain Dew would send me to a bad place. But during the trade deadline, the non alcoholic version of Mountain Dew on deadline day, I will admit only two 20 ounce bottles. I felt really good. And mainly it was because I'm at the age now where mount do sometimes will make me have to go to the bathroom and when you're going to be on TV for a two hour show for the trade deadline. There's no time for a bathroom break. So I had to live in my intake that day. What's your caffeine of choice here? I know you're a big craft beer guy, but when you're getting ready for get up in the morning, what do you like to drink? I rarely drink craft beer as I prepare for get up in the morning, although sometimes when I watch the show, I would like to consume one, if not more than one. I just very recently actually started drinking coffee. I've been waking up at 3 o'clock in the morning for the last 8 years, never needed it. Have just started to, on occasion I'll throw back a 5 hour energy, maybe late in the week. If I really feel like I need it, I am not a diet soda drinker, really a soda drinker at all, but I do very much respect where Jeff comes from there. For me, it's coffee and I'll mix it some 5 hour energy. If I absolutely must. Moving on to mandu. At mandu 32, 23, this is a question. Who will be the best player in the future? Julio Rodriguez, Michael Harris, the second or adley rushman. I mean, it's not Michael Harris. It's not Julio Rodriguez. It's gotta be one adley clutch man who's just been phenomenal and warms me in multiple places in my body. Well, I would have really liked if Taylor were a little bit more specific with where

"Have they been using this for a while and if so, what can they do with it potentially? Yeah, I think everything you said is at least directionally correct as far as I understand. I mean, I should clarify. I'm not the one talking to the teams. I almost never talked to the teams. So a lot of what I have is a little bit, you know, even secondhand over here. Yeah. I found it entertaining. So there was two months ago, maybe, an article that was written. I can't remember his first name, unfortunately, but his last name was more. Yeah, Ethan more. Yeah. Ethan, exactly. And it was a really good article, right? And it was about a lot of the stuff that we ended up talking about. And I think he updated it later, but at first it was like, it was written in the sense that teams weren't necessarily doing this. Right. And he I believe it worked for the rockies. Yes. Kind of made me think more questions about the rockies. So anyway, that was not really an answer to your question. I think most of what you said is pretty much correct. Yeah, the main stack ass tracking system, right? The one that tracks the ball and it's been raid and exit velocity, the players, all that, right? That is owned by the league, like the league installs it in all 30 parks and maintains it and everything like that. Teams are as far as I understand, certainly welcome to install their own kind of stuff to do whatever they want, like privately. So I would guess I'm almost certain that some teams are probably ahead of other teams in that regard. Yes. And what this is, at least at least the way it was presented to me when it came across my desk, which was like, well, we know that this kind of upgraded hardware exists. We'd like to kind of make a value proposition out of it, see if there's anything useful before we try to go forth with the investment to hopefully put it in all parks, right? Okay. That's where things are right now. I could not tell you today. It's going to be in 30 perks next year. Honestly, don't know. I am not part of those conversations, but that's the idea. And so my task here was take this information that we've gotten these two parks. See if it's going to be useful for the public for broadcast. And I think we did that. I mean, I think when you come up with a list that's got Julio Rodriguez swings real fast and Leary Garcia doesn't. I think there's some signal there, even in just like limited data. So now I just feel like I'm borrowing sub headers from this post, but I think one of the things that always slows adoption or becomes a task of adoption when we have new metrics is to help people understand like what is good, right? Because I think we have an intuitive sense of what a good batting average is. And you know, if you're a fair grass reader, you probably have a good idea of what a good woma is, but what is a good output for this? Like, what is the, what is the average speed you're looking at to say, this is, you know, of this very limited sample that we have. Here's what averages, here's below average, here's Julio Rodriguez. What is the range of speeds that we're looking at? Yeah, that's totally the right question. And in some sense, we are at the point with this that we probably were with spin rate in July of 2015 where now we look back and go, oh, we should have maybe approached that differently or with different metrics and that's probably what we'll say about this conversation. Should we actually make it to 2027? The answer I found is the average is about 80 miles an hour at the swing spot. And I should also caveat the dataset I had. It's just contacted by the balls, not misses, which is also very important in another way. It's just for various reasons, not what I had available. And the range is from about 69 to 95 give or take, but most guys are within, I would say like 72 to 87, I guess would be the range there. Gotcha. And does that do those particular speeds tend to correlate to particular batted ball events? I wouldn't say batted ball events, but certainly there is some relation between swing hard and ball, leave hard. Swing speed and exit velocity. It's not, it's obviously not one to one because, you know, you want to square up the ball. You want to hit it. Not at the end of the bat, or on the handle. I don't have the article in front of me, but I think at the time I had written that, I sorted every batted ball from the top of the bat down to the handle and in order to get to the first hard hit ball 95 miles an hour of excess. Like this 75 batter balls near the end, you couldn't do it in like a hundred from the handle. You couldn't do it. There's nothing to do with swing speed. It's entirely where you're making contact. So my guess is where this is going to end up sort of like pitch velocity in the sense that it's great to throw hard. Like you absolutely want to throw hard, but we can think of guys that throw a hundred weren't very good because they don't have control or their pitch shape stinks. Like they're still room in the world for Kyle Hendricks because he's so good at other things too. So there's going to be a relationship between swinging hard and being a good hitter, but it's like certainly not the only input that's going to go into being successful. Have you been able to tell whether there's any correlation between pitch speed and swing speed and if so what it is because I wondered about that just because there's some correlation between pitch speed and exit speed of a batted ball, it's maybe not as great as some might think, mostly it's the hitter that's supplying the exit speed, but there is some contribution from the pitch too. So the faster it comes in, the harder it goes out, all else being equal. But I wonder whether that is true as well with swing speed, where if someone's throwing really hard, then you have to swing extra hard to catch up with it, or whether people are just generally sort of swinging as hard as they can most of the time regardless. Yeah, that is a great question. I didn't do this. I saw an internal presentation that suggested no that there is not really much of an impact there, which I think was yeah, it's fascinating. What I looked at this, I'm like, I have so many different ways I would like to break this down. But I'm starting with sort of a limited dataset in the first place, and then if I'm doing like splits on splits, now am I really finding anything like meaningful and interesting? That's sort of the hard part here, but I was, I was pleased to find, like, even if I just put the minimum at three swings, there were signal coming through, like Joey Gallo is now in our top ten, which is great because that's exactly where I'd expect him to be. Right. And again, you don't have whiffs in your dataset. You can make it in your top ten for that too. Sorry, Joe, galaxy. I did want to ask what extra value you think this information brings to what we already knew from batted ball data, right? Because we know that Julia Rodriguez and other great hitters hit the ball hard. And so we can kind of infer from that, maybe that they swing hard too, right there's even been some inferred bat speed metric that's been floating around out there.

This is Sarah's O'Reilly auto parts story. Driving cross country with two young children is ambitious to say the least. Then our check engine light came on. We pulled into O'Reilly auto parts and they tested it. Turned out it was a faulty sensor. They referred us to a great mechanic just down the street and we were back on the road in no time. "To second base in his first major league at bat, a ringing double off the three 75 marker, and we have seen that all spring. Welcome to the show. Ken griffey junior. In 1989, the kid served notice of a Hall of Fame career by smacking 16 home runs, stealing 16 bases, and making remarkable defensive plays. Now in year 2022, Julio Rodriguez is on pace to top Ken griffey junior's Seattle Mariner rookie numbers. This weekend, he had a drive near the top of San Diego's brick warehouse. That is a home run. That is whoo. Rodriguez. He hits for power and average uses blazing speed to track down fly balls, and he stolen 21 bases, which caught the attention of MLB tonight analyst and former Mariner Cameron Maven. Well, he does really well. Is he allows himself to be slightly open. When you're slightly open, it allows you to create a straight line a second base. After a rocky start to his first big league season, Maven says Julio Rodriguez has changed his batting approach. Him as a young player this early in his career realizing, okay, you know what? I was excited. Let me get back to my approach. The things that have made me consistent and exciting throughout my career and you're seeing it right now showing up in full effect. This guy is fun to watch and I can not wait to see him continue to progress. The young Dominican is already here in two American League rookie of the month awards AL player of the week and he's so strong all star candidate. Rodriguez on how he's handling the pressure. I don't want to say any harvest but they just kind of laugh and flow. I feel like I take care of day in day out and just whatever I end up, I feel like that's the best for me. Just like the original kid, he has the bat, the glove and the

Seattle Mariners CEO Kevin Mather under fire for comments, releases statement

"Go badly for that team. Generally it does otherwise. That would not be talking about that team. Because they never do anything right. They never do anything good. So if I'm talking about the Mariners, and I'm talking about their president and their CEO, Kevin Mather. He probably did something really stupid. And then he and they are probably about to get wrecked for it. And if I'm talking about the president and the CEO, talking to the Bellevue Breakfast, Rotary Club It's gonna go horribly for everybody, and that's pretty much the result of him running his yap to the Rotarians earlier this month. You see, he was speaking to the breakfast Rotary Club on February 5th. Those comments became public yesterday and immediately went viral. So why is that? It's because, he said, the quiet part out loud and said so on pretty much every single topic imaginable. Like you know, the speech to the Rotary Club where nobody ever says anything noteworthy? You know what's an all timer when you've got a guy like that, having to issue a statement, which includes the following line, and I quote I've been on the phone most of the day today, apologizing to the many people I have insulted, hurt or disappointed in speaking at a recent online event. Unquote at a boy Ste. Hot champ. How the hell could anything that happens at the Rotary Club go so horribly that you have to spend a day apologizing to all the people they even salted and hurt or disappointed. I mean, how dumb would you have to be? How bad would that speech have to be to warrant an apology like that? A statement like that from the CEO of an MLB team answer. Really, really dumb. And a really horrible speech. The hell was this guy thinking anyway? Clearly he wasn't my man's mouth was simply on autopilot. Check out what he said about that stuff about the fact that he admitted there was no way that he was going to call it their top prospects last season. Not because they weren't good enough, but because the team wanted to manipulate this service time if our major league team had had a Cupid outbreak. Or, you know injuries and we had to call people up from the taxi squad. We were a little short on players because there was no chance you were going to see these young players at T Mobile part. We weren't going to put him on the 40 man roster. We weren't going to start the service time clock. There were all kinds of reasons that if we would have had injury problems or a covert outbreak You might have seen my big tummy out there in left field. You would not have seen our young players are prospects playing in T Mobile Park. Check this dude out. I'm gonna gloss over the fact that a grown ass man An adult just used the phrase my big tummy. In public. I mean, normally, that'd be one of the more offensive things in a speech like that doesn't even crack the top 10 here. Honestly, the fact that he's openly admitting to being happy to putting a lesser version of his own team on the field in order to manipulate service time isn't even the most egregious a fence from this dope. I mean, we already know that goes on. We already know that a bunch of major league teams do that. But this moron is the only one admitting it in public and going on record with it. Except he wasn't done. He had more. Like saying that Kyle Seager is quote overpaid and that this would be his last year with the team. Like that's cool. I guess I'm not saying the Seeker has been lighting the world on fire. But maybe you don't hop on a zoom call with the Bellevue Rotary Club and put one of your key players on blast like that. And he wasn't done not by a long shot because he had some thoughts that he wanted to get off his chest about the second ranked prospect in the organization, Julio Rodriguez. Julio Rodriguez has got a personality bigger than all of you combined. He is he is loud he is his English is not tremendous. Good Take, bro. Good. Take Got a huge personality bigger than all of you. But his English is not tremendous. Yeah, I'm sure that's not the first time you've said that and I guarantee it won't be the last. But first he had more than you want to say about Rodriguez, because why merely irritate Why merely irritate one of your best prospects when you can go in on him and really piss him off. Everybody, says 2021. He won't be here till 2022 or 2023. Fantastic kid. Really big on social media. He loves toe. Get out in front. He loves the Mariners. That's a tremendous approach. Right? Everybody says we'll be calling this guy this year. The hell we will maybe next year. And you know what? Maybe even the year after that. Make sure we keep on sucking before he gets here. Why bring him up? You might help us. I love that he chases that with quote. Ah, fantastic kid. Really big on social

"Mariner players continue to hold virtual press conferences and fan chats. 20 year old outfielder Julio Rodriguez, the number two prospect in Seattle's organization would get a lot of different stuff under to get better. I like my body. My swing everything is I coming together is the best physical shape the other fella. You've been my entire life. Rodriguez is coming off a wrist injury and 2020 Super Bowl 55 matchup is all set. Patrick Mahomes in the Kansas City Chiefs returned to defend their crown, and we're trying to run it back. And we mean that I'm excited. The opportunity to go out there and play gets a great football team and try to do that. They'll take on Tom Brady in Tampa Bay, representing the NFC Seattle Sounders Center back Roman Torres signs on with a Costa Rican club and the undefeated scans. Aga and Baylor are still 12 in the A P Men's basketball pole. Sports a 10 and 40. After the hour Bill's words come Oh news, as Washington continues to welcome everyone 65 older to get the covert vaccine, many in their early twenties are receiving a shot just across the state line couples. Brian Calvert has a closer look. Once on the same page with pandemic closures and plans. Washington and Oregon have taken dramatically different approaches in the vaccination process. Priority here remains with medical workers and those age 65 up in Oregon. There's also a priority for medical workers. But there's another group moving to the front of the line. As of now, I support the teachers being pushed to the front of the line for vaccines. Heather is just one of many parents supporting Oregon Governor Cape Browns moved to vaccinate all teachers, regardless of age. The governor seems to understand that older adults in general often have a fatal experience with covert 19. But what is true is that our Children are stopped ring. She wants the kids back in class, and her move is to make sure teachers are protected. She's also allowing those age 80 and up to be vaccinated. Even though Heather agrees. I feel like we have sort of an ethical quandary on our hands in that the teachers are being put in the front for the vaccine, but we don't have dates and we don't have a plan for the middle and high school students just Steve is a high school teacher. Getting back to school is my main objective..
