"Shirtless with your fiancee and tropical climates. Is that passive aggressive. Urs just sort of like you're giving everybody else the foam all right like i. I don't know that that's towards green bay. You're not tagging them in your tweet but you're making a very aware you're having a great time being away for them. This is leaving the believing your girlfriend after ten years and making sure you've got a picture of yourself at a concert or on a beach somewhere with or new girlfriend or is exactly the sort of walk in terms of social media. Faux pas where remember when floyd mayweather was doing a live facebook or instagram live with troops american troops stationed out in the middle east and he was showing the his house and a part of his shara racket. Mtv cribs style. I think involved either. A suitcase was suddenly a very large pile of money. Do you probably to be too because trading on for that particular david. I wonder whether that same thing with aaron rodgers and the green bay packers fans right. Now do you really wanna be wanna be seeing that possess resolute with this. That he's that he's gonna. So why are you so sure. Why do you think this is the end of the road. i think it just. It's about when it came out on draft day. And i think only aaron can control that narrative. I don't think that's going to aaron rodgers and saying guess. What if you know if you don't give me a little more details. Throw me a few more breadcrumbs. We're going to let this out. I think aaron rodgers well aware of the story line and the narrative that we did the draft together with we'll gavin and twenty twenty and we were really surprised by By the pick of jordan love we just were and we thought about it at the time. And even quarterbacks get drafted since the beginning of time especially late in rounds when you've got an established quarterback already even though that's the case we just knew it would land differently in green bay because there's been this great debate and i think i know i speak of our colleague will gavin. Who's been adamant as a forty niners fan. It's not a big green bay packers span that there's no. There's no wiggle room for complaints for green bay about all pros. They've had all pro receivers for aaron rodgers. Nave had all pro lineman for aaron rodgers. They've had all pro linebackers play. Matthews's patrolling the the a four three defense as a middle linebacker was one of the best in the business for almost a half decade. I don't think aaron rodgers. Unlike maybe a dan marino dan fouts or lots of guys. Pre salary cap archie. Manning could complain about the talent around. I don't think aaron gets to do that. Because how do you keep making the nfc title game. How do you keep doing that. How do you keep winning. Twelve games every year. Run a bad football team so it doesn't ring true. But the fact that he put that out there on draft day and that leaks and it was dominated dominated your coverage mike coverage. Everybody's football this. It was trevor lawrence. Who's that. I have no idea what we're not we're like. We're like a dog getting distracted by car and then we start chasing a cat. That was it that was trevor. Lawrence is supposed to be coronation of trevor lawrence for jacksonville instead. It's like well. What would the broncos pay with. What would what would the chart or the the broncos and the raiders is the raiders off. Derek carr what would be the price involved we go to the afc. Stay in nfc based on the timing of that. Because i think aaron rodgers could have controlled that narrative in that that may have been passive aggressive but to me now. Nothing's been resolved so it's just plain aggressive almost two months later i think he's played his last game as a packer. 'wow well if he has. You mentioned two teams. I think with rogers. There's about said that the two most likely destinations that maybe they are uncertain. Logic would prevail that both of those teams in particular would look at a quarterback change more readily than many others. But then you took about aaron rodgers right. So i think most teams are in play with the exception of jacksonville cincinnati and kansas city. And maybe a handful of pretty much. Any team is theoretically in play right. Oh yeah i yeah trying to think i mean. There's obvious i think there's always those levels of we are so in love with our quarterback or we love him because he's done great things in the past so you're hesitant to move off manning and the giants right would be a great example of that. I think that element was there later. Flacco and the ravens for a long time. Yeah that's exact- that's a great example as well like there's a sense of loyalty even big ben. There's a loyalty in pittsburgh to ben rothlisberger. Who still. Ken have his moments and still can get done at various times. And let's face it. They don't start that playoff. Game against cleveland so disastrously in some of that was the bad snap. Got that what rolled into the end zone. mean can't see. A team started playoff game a home playoff game. No less worse than than pittsburgh did in those ten minutes but yeah they're and then there's just the well we kind of like. But if you have an idea. Jared goff would be that example for me with the rams if you have ideas to how we can upgrade. We're all ears and we're listening like look at all. The chitchat about miami to talk about is the highest draft picks. I since i can't think a win for the miami dolphins they drafted ryan tannehill which you mentioned eighth overall. But you gotta go way back. And it wasn't david woodley and it wasn't dan marino and brady quinn He was a cleveland. Browns draft picks that ended up there. Little so i can't think of who it is but there was chatter all year that well they. They'll upgrade to. Of course they'll try and do that so i think there's a there's several teams that you look at. You say there's not a real love affair going on with the quarterback and the head coach or the quarterback and the team infrastructure right. They're a bunch of them and there are in the nfc east. Obviously i think i think the giants would upgrade at the snap of finger on daniel jones even with an aaron rodgers gave them only three or four more years i think we agree washington would-be in the market chicago would have been before. Justin fields was drafted. So it's tough. I think denver. Denver seems to be that team. You tell me if i'm wrong. Denver just seems to be a team that everybody's isolating and i know we're going to talk about the shawn watson and the potential for denver later in this podcast but the broncos feel like the most obvious team. That's going to have a different quarterback in week one of this year than they did..

"To the show on. Espn good to have you with us. Gang good to be back and delighted to welcome one about all time. Faves one of the all pro lineup on the show. The brilliant greg brady all the way in toronto back to chin wag the latest stories from a big leagues going to dive into some of your questions from the mail bag as well. Thanks very much indeed for those. Let's get straight to it and welcome mr great brady greg brady. It is always a pleasure to see you in person. You and i've been working a fair bit together over the last couple of months. We were just musing as we are about to start recording the show. How utterly secret by face are you on a a scale of one to ten not terribly not terribly and And i wish i was seeing him person. I had tickets for five-year-old matches my uk based friends. Were quite jealous. They got shut out of the ballot. As you call it. We'd call it a lottery. you call about. that's okay. We get some boards wrong over here to trend in all of those tickets. Five for five like a baseball player. Having a great day is at the leadoff spot five five. They all get cancelled. They all get refunded so knowing on croatia no no holland austria amsterdam which was supposed be next thursday's on any of the games no disappointingly although i am going to be watching it religiously with my two boys of course who having had successful season at west ham. I've had told them to drink that in. Because that's gonna you never know what happens again. That's what i'm hoping will shine on england in the maybe we'll have a similar similarly. What you're saying that you know. The world cup was a successful turn. So maybe we can. I think there's i think this is. Nobody wants to picking when to win. But i think there's three teams that can win and this will all You know somebody'll will track down this podcast five weeks from now and go. Wow you really do you. Even watch the sport. It's it's france it's belgium and it's england although i'm selling myself on portugal. I think this portugal team more talented. Bend two thousand sixteen teams that. They're really believe that there was no bruno. Fernandez there's no ruben diaz the rinaldo still rinaldo. I think thinking about how bad they were also in the in the group. Stage three draws. They gave up four goals. This team is a powerhouse. But i think we're we're hesitant to pick them because we're like. Wow they won last time. So who does it twice the that team yet. I definitely everyone's raving on saturday. So about the the francie on paper but how often is the best team on paper get done. Hey not just in football and the nfl. Quite frankly as well. North macedonia is worth going there. The we need to link the euro teams. This time round with nfl teams like stuff. You don't want to say north macedonia jets. You don't wanna do that. Because the jets have allowed infrastructure and plenty of opera. We don't want say the detroit. Lions are scotland. Think that would alienate. We were talking about the other night. Five aside Scotland england one. They'll activist who was already bust. One nil threat third minute goal scrappy set piece goal. England will create very little and could plow out of the tournament because of the scott. You had us. I let that then that would make them not the detroit lions because they'd a win an important game let alone a playoff game since nineteen ninety-one tell you a quick story. I'm covering first summer over there in euro ninety six. I'm covering queens club right. The hill artois barons court tube. Stop that's i know it well. And it's the semi final on the saturday and thomas moose actually the number one seed. He couldn't play well on grass. So i think he loses to stefan edberg. It was a very retro summer. Summer britpop but edberg. Becker played in the final in ninety six and they were both of older guys. They first met in the In the wimbledon final in nineteen eighty eight so there are older and and we hear a roar in the stands at center court at at sell. Artois we hear roar. Roar is is the save of the gary mcallister penalty miss after one. Ill england yes louis here that and you know what comes next about a minute later every year. A bigger roar. It's the gaza goal off. The foot volley off the foot. That makes it too so the tremendous memories of that and again. You can't look yeah you have no idea going on so it becomes whisper. It's a game a broken telephone. Are you sure you just had a penalty. Missed and gaza went right down the field of basically from midfield and scored and it's two new england. Yeah that happened greg. Brady i blink. I it feels like only yesterday. Yeah many ways. That was something that was. What is summer. That was good times and a lot to be getting into for us on this. Get you back on this show. By the way we think radio together. Great to have you back in the espn house. Let's start with what we're going to start with. Julio the big story of the last seven days no doubt about. It wasn't surprised that he was out of atlanta. Because hey drop that bomb on national television. A couple of weeks back with shannon's skip but we were speculating where the destination would be. Those seem to be a few a few logical and viable landing spots the titans. Get the job done. A twenty twenty two second round pick. They've got a fourth round twenty twenty three as well the flipping that for six round and the twenty-three draft and they're absorbing 'cause all of the dollars and cents to the tennessee titans so atlanta off the hook and that was what a lot of this deal was predicated on that they needed to balance the books but nevertheless the losing one of that all time greats greg brady and he's landing at a contenders spot. So the question is is julio strong enough at age thirty two with all of those miles on the clock take the titans to the next level. Yeah i think i know. There's football left there. Obviously and the titans obviously feel that way and if they hadn't stepped up in times like these not you always want to know what the second best offer was. Because i don't think we look and say. The falcons overpaid remember as well. The falcons own twitter account to go social media. It's not everything but it's something. Put out a report that that be priced to get. Julio jones out of atlanta falcons official twitter accounts not a fan blog or anything. The falcons official twitter account puts out a tweet that says reports are the price is a first round draft pick for the atlanta. That's like me saying the price for my Two thousand eighteen hundred santa fe in the driveway right now is one hundred thousand pounds like wanna get it you can. You can hope that somebody will pay it. And i love that car. It's it's you know it's still got a couple of color. What are we going to accept. How's it.

Tom brady and the patriots. Titans take out the defending champions. And then lamar jackson and the ravens on their way to the afc championship game. Ravens fans are making their way to the extra time. I can't believe the tennessee. Titans are forty nine seconds away from the afc championship game. How do you compare this team to that one. I think the biggest difference between that team and this team is at coordinator. You know that team had dean pees a great defensive coordinator who got the most out of teams who had a fantastic game plan for the ravens game. In lamar jackson a guy who had great relationships with players got the most of them in the titans took a nosedive defensively after he retired after that season. And then in twenty twenty. It's not a coincidence to me. And then offense. Arthur smith first year offense coordinator who just did a tremendous job and of course did that for two years now. Head coach of the falcons. You've got shane bowen. And todd down in those roles now and that's probably the biggest source of pressure for this season. Really you know if you're todd downing as oh see you're you have to fill arthur smith shoes and by the way. Here's this ridiculous amount of talent. Don't screw it up top but we'll see a lot of pressure. Both those guys in that to me is the biggest difference. We'll finally joe. It seems like this is attained team with kind of a wide range of outcomes a ton of talent especially on offense but maybe some boom and bust potential with this team as well. So what's your best. And worst case scenario for tennessee in two thousand and twenty one well best-case julio jones's julio jones a full year and everyone's healthy on offense stick bud. Dupree comes in earns that money as a terrorizing pass rusher gets a bunch of sacked. Entire defense takes a big step forward and they win the super bowl. The worst case. Stephanie i would say is just. This team doesn't make the playoffs for whatever. Reason people aren't healthy. The new look on defense doesn't work coolio has hit the wall. I mean there's a lot of different ways it can go that way but if this team doesn't make the playoffs that's a disastrous outcome given the investment and given the way john robinson has gone after things here so much for joining us and i'll make sure to let my titans spin nephew know what we learned here today. "And this episode. We're going to do a quick. Follow up to our tennessee debates opening pod that we had last time just released. And we've recorded that in advance. Schedule it for release on monday. And of course with a slightly bad timing. I don't even think. Tennessee was in the julio jones conversation we release it the day after the tennessee titans get julio jones making our whole debate somewhat of a moot point because you know obviously it makes that whole team a lot more attractive now so we thought it was important to follow up that opening a podcast and of course as timely news comes out we wanted to kinda jump on this and provide our fantasy feedback on that as well so we're going to stick on the impact of the julio jones trae to tennessee titans and typically. We've got a kind of a single opening question. Seth rich is going to kind of roll into a a multitude of different questions again. Just going back to the impact of julio jones of first one. That really comes to mind. That i think is really important for us. To answer is what is the impact for. Aj brown with julia jones. Going through tennessee. I think overall. I think i i don't think it changes a ton and i i i. I wanted to say i trade. I went down. I had some thoughts. And i was like you know. Aj jay brown actually like more. These might be a little bit little bit undervalued relatives like ap's and take a little bit of a hit. 'cause julio comes in and the more i looked at it and the more i thought about i don't think much changes with aj brown. I mean he finished last year as a ninth scoring wide receiver. He's being drafted as the seventh wide receiver. Roy wide receiver as right now at two point. Oh nine and i think that's fair. He's entering its third season. He's been absolute be expect him to make another little in a little bit of a leap in mere three But you also expect. Julio like i think overall i think it's a it's a net positive ray j brown but i think it. I think everything is kind of the same age as brown. Lose corey davis and they lose jonas smith. I think a lot of that production is going to be filled by. Julio jones and more the tennessee titans are really efficient offense. And i still expect. Aj brown to get touchdowns. And i think he'll benefit from some of the coverage receives from opposing teams just based on having coolio on the opposite side of him so overall i think if i had to choose as a hit as it help him or his his fancy stalkers hurt his fancy stock l. Lean towards help. But i think it's going to be You know the status quo for aj brown if if you liked aj brown. I don't think this trade should change that at all. So you still lined up in the same spot in terms of eighty on where he has been going which is approximately wide receiver. Seven behind calvin ridley and right in front of ken allen. Yep yeah and like his eighty p might be a separate separate conversation. Like i would rather have. I would probably have t now and then. Ej brown. I probably rather have michael thomas than ag brown potentially but in terms of like my opinion before the trade might pain after the trade. My opinion hasn't really changed on jay. Brown i i do think that this offense has a higher ceiling now which can benefit. Aj brown The tennessee titans were in the bottom ten in terms of pass attempts last year in passing yards. They've just been a really efficient. So i think that those things still apply maybe throw the ball a little bit more because they have julio but as long as they can be as efficient as they have been. I still think two touchdowns are going to be there One of the crazy things about about about. Aj brown out of the top. Twenty fantasy wide receivers. last year. He was he was the host of the roy down. Here's a nine sworn receiver last year terms of fantasy points but he was dead last in terms of toll. Target's out of the top twenty. Only one hundred six targets so and i believe in terms of targets. He was number thirtieth in the nfl in terms of targets. You had kobe's getting more targets than him. So he's the ninth scoring wide receiver but thirtieth and targets with just speaks to the efficiency of their offense in the fact that he gets a lot of yards and touchdowns obviously so. I think that all those those things are still intact. I'm not really worried about julio At the same time it's like. Julio is clearly an operate over jones. Smith corey davis and He's gonna command a lot of attention. Socio shakes out. But yeah i i like. Aj brown a little bit more than i did before the trade. It's hard to like him more just with the amount of targets that julio jones is going to get let me look. How many targets corey davis. Because we spoke to corey davis. Joe smith combined average ten point because he played a different position. But he's he's kind of like one of those. I mean they have andrew tight end. Who's going to be a nonfactor. Probably accord average six hundred ninety two targets last year. For corey davis. So it's not. That's not that's not too bad. That's a good amount of of targets. You know who is gonna get over one hundred but you know. It's not like he's going to go from fifty to one hundred and thirty might go from ninety two to maybe somewhere in the one thirty range but you kind of hit on a little bit one of the questions. I was going to ask you was. Is it possible. I mean my guess. Is that what we will see is actually a little bit of an expansion of the throwing game from tennessee. The past four hundred eighty times last year ryan tannehill that anytime. Anyone is passing under five hundred times. That's not a lot now. So there is clearly room for just more pass attempts in general and when you have julio you might be more apt to do that in obscene and a plethora different situations so i think that they might be able to replicate. Aj brown stats while also improving on corey davises for julio just by the sheer increase in volume and isn't had to be a gigantic increase. But when you throwing four hundred eighty times. On the year i mean. That's that's not a lot now. An julio is julio's leaving an offense that throws a lot but isn't very efficient especially in the red zone go into a team. That doesn't throw a lot. But but really a fisherman. The last two seasons ryan tannehill on a per game basis has had more touchdowns than matt ryan he had more touchdown passes last year. So he's throwing the ball a lot less than that ryan significantly less as getting the ball in the end zone into the wires hands. So i think this is a guy also who has only had more than eight touchdowns in a season once it is entire career. He's never been a big touchdown guy. He's always been a fancy stuff but he's never had those those gaudy touchdown totals so i think like number. One obvious targets are coming down. That goes without saying. But i think he can be. He can be a double digit touchdown guy this year..

"It gets enough snaps under his belt with rodgers. Not there that he can. He can get it really going. who knows. It reminds me of a young uncle. Rico well dave you know who was back on the field minicamp my guy dak prescott baby man. Yeah man and mccarthy expects back to be a forego for the training camp coming off that bum ankle issue there and that is exciting news for the cowboys catalyze dude after what we saw last october. And how awful that pit. My stomach feld just not knowing what the hell is going on and seeing how tragic the rest of the season was. That's out good news and there are hopefully going to be out here in oxnard and maybe do some joint practices with the rams. So that's all tvd but it is very exciting for the cowboy fans. I like joints. Okay haitao dave why we're here baby. Julio jones it seemed like he was only a matter of time before this trade went down specifically june first but julio jones officially at tennessee toy yeah man and wow the titans getting jones falcons of course get out of it a twenty twenty two second rounder in a two thousand twenty three fourth rounder and the titans get julio jones in a six rounder back in two thousand three pretty awesome acquisition. Obviously huge talent so they titans take on jones's salary of fifteen point three million and two more years after that but he does has made some sounds noises as if he would like a restructuring. At least probably at the end of this. Next season falcons of course seven point seven five million dollars in dead money this year as a result of moving jones's contract but they were under the gun in terms of their salary cap. They needed to do something. And this was the piece they had to get rid of. Yeah dude they didn't even have money to sign their draft class you move. Julio aging superstar you draft picks a tight end you have calvin ridley emerging as one of the the top receivers in this league. So david this feels like a win. On the falcons but this might be their second win on this. Julio de aza when we go back in time to to the twenty eleven drag. Gotta do me another casey thomas to dmitrov dude and it was a huge trade. Actually he can't contact check bell check said no no too much too much to give up but he went ahead and did it anyways right they. They were selecting twenty seven. They traded that pick with the browns to get up to the sixth pick overall and they gave up their first. Rounder that twenty-seventh pick as well as their second and fourth rounders in two thousand eleven and their first and fourth rounders. And so it seemed like a crapload that they gave up for. Julio here but the browns of course made all those picks and it's a package of dudes that don't amount to. Julio jones career by any stretch of the imagination they got brandon. Weeden was the starter for a little while the quarterback position but we ultimately that we'd man did not win the trade. For the browns the falcons came away pretty good and now after ten years of great service from julio they get a little something back to sort of mitigate originally gave up for him so atlanta well done yeah dude and now you're getting one of the best all times to tennessee offense that you know is not lacking for that big play but you look at what julio's done and you know it's so impressive dude. Oh no question. Yeah i mean obviously over the ten years that he's been there with the falcons he's just been a dominant player..

"Zone callow to trenton. Casey who were they were the football. Dude dave are you ready. My brother got that right. My friend i all there. Our next stop is the trend zone in today's episode. We'll check in with mandatory minicamp in green bay and see if their main man was there. Also we'll talk about the huge trade. That sent julio jones to the titans at what that means for both the titans ended the falcons. And we're gonna shove all our chips to the middle of the table as remember an nfl. Coaching legend day. Before we get rolling brother. Do you have a tasty. chris. People's i'm going to give a little to the peeps casey. I'll tell you what the seventeenth game. Casey the fact that it's nfc versus afc has resulted in some pretty tasty matchups including fourteen super bowl. Rematches in this twenty twenty one season the biggest season ever including super bowl. One packers at chiefs in week nine. That sounds awesome. Actually the most recent super bowl matchup that will be rekindled will be the patriots falcons. That's week eleven man. That's thursday night or two. Obviously the falcons might have a little vengeance on their minds. They're right yeah that beka still little honoring how that second. Half point ary falcons dave. Speaking of anri bro. Aaron rodgers there was speculation if he would or would not show up for. Mini camp was a no show at packers. Mandatory minicamp on tuesday confirming a lack of grunted. Mvp he also missed ota's for the first time in his career this spring. But dave those were voluntary and what do voluntary mean. hey man it doesn't mean mandatory. That's for sure. And you know by skipping this minicam casey. It's the first time he's ever done. And it's costing a mini campus him. Ninety three thousand which is trump change. He's already given up five hundred thousand dollars for missing. Ota in terms of a workout bonus right but that's nothing compared to what he would be giving up if he were to stay away. And let's say. I guess retire it would be giving up his fourteen point seven million dollar salary for this year and he'd have to have to pay back just about thirty million bucks dude. That's almost forty five million dollars to not play football coming off the mvp season man. Well too bad. They haven't been able to find any pictures of that. Infamous roger sour by running that d role. He's always smile man. Yeah did you know that might be bad. News for packers hand but there is some good news jordan love but is that good news for packer fans if well according to espn's rob demovsky. Casey love has quote struggled with accuracy during practice. That's kind of important especially when you're not really playing against the defense right. Obviously you know not the best sign going. Twelve of twenty three in the l. Team activities there as well as the failed. Two minute drill man but you know they did see the bright side. Which is that arm. That they liked the arm strength. Is there casey. So they've got raw talent there. And maybe he gets over the jitters..

"Is that really saying all that much. I think vegas has him is like an eight one team or seven team. This is now a seventeen game season. So that's not even five hundred. So i don't know i don't know where we're at with atlanta i. I think that's about right though. They they could get lucky. I'm more pessimistic. On matt matt ryan just based on what i saw. I don't watch a lot of falcons games. But i remember that we. I think it was week fourteen against the chargers where he threw a bunch of looked. He did not look like the same quarterback. And i think tom brady is kind of lawless. All under thinking that there is no aging in the quarterback position. But i was thirty five. He's got a guy. I wonder so. I guess my question is i wonder whether if they could do it all again in no that. Julio is gone whether they would have kind of taken a quarterback in that draft position. Whether it's trae lance or whoever i i mean i think it was a huge mistake i mean we don't. I don't even think we need to know if either of those quarterbacks will be good to be able to say that. It was a process mistake not to take a quarterback with the fourth overall pick. I think you know just the value differential between quarterback and everyone else is just so large. That i don't quite understand it and from the very beginning the in atlanta is nowhere fought. I don't know the exact pronunciation i apologized. But he e had been telegraphing from the very beginning of his tenure that he was going to get rid of. Julio so it was just always in the cards it seemed He restructured matt ryan's contract. When you get that year as a gm where you kinda blow things up if you want to and you can do with impunity. Owner doesn't get mad. The fan base in media. Don't get mad. And he took a pass on all that he basically said. I'm now i'm gonna put my stamp of approval on basically what we had before and kind of kind of move this thing forward for another year and try and compete passed on just in fields passed on i guess mcjohnson about that pick was gone because he went to san francisco but it was there. That's right that's right. Yeah yeah it would have been a good pick. I agree and although he's such a projection. He's just like all raw talent. Like josh allen redux but anyway i'm kind of rambling but i think i think to the point you were making about about Atlanta i think the kind of all always in the cards julia was leaving. And i think that's wild. It really is surprising. You know for for for what he has done what he even seasons where he was injured and missed games. What he did while he was in those games as you showed in your piece. Josh was just such high level production and to not want to keep a a a player like that around to keep him. Happy is just confusing to me. I i don't understand it really. And it seems like the falcons are now kind of caught in the middle like they didn't want to commit to rebuilding around a new quarterback like you said they didn't draft someone they took pits which is a move. That sort of is seen as extending matt ryan's window of Being viable starter yet. Also at the same time losing..

"At both ends of the football and it's gonna be great to see i'm excited. I'm excited to see. I'm excited that we're talking about football. Were actually talking about the football on the field and the matchups especially in the afc south and we're not talking about. We're julio going anymore. We know where he is. And i just love to do this. Regulation and this reminisce scene and the aftermath this the aftermath episode of jones drama. And what it's going to be back within the league. I'm just so excited for football. Be back. I know you guys are two now. Not saying that the tennessee titans are gonna major locks for the super bowl. Yeah they improved their position with vegas and we'll talk about that later and i don't mean that they're not unbeatable because that defense still has some to prove and the loss of their offense coordinator to head coach position in atlanta of places. How ironic is that and the team. Who dealt julio jones. His former team he dealt tempted tennessee. So there's irony all over the place right now but it's going to be the first season that the tennessee titans have daunting very high super bowl expectations and that just comes with the addition of superstar. Talent you'd look at every other team who made super bowl talent acquisitions who got superstar talent. Of course they're going to be wanting to win super bowl but it's not that easy my friends. It's super tough and it's going to be so difficult there's going to be ups and downs behind modes there's going to be overreactions tennessee. Titans don't win the first game and say julio jones gets injured or eight brown gets injured or derrick. Henry gets injured. God forbid hopefully no. Those injuries happen but it's going to be tense. It's gonna be interesting but it's going to be very tense when it comes to say. They don't have a winning record. Now they're play is going to have to determine what happens on the field there. There's no one who can play and there's no one who can win for them. Accept them so they have to be the leaders. So i'm going to be entertained to see how it will forward and how it all mesh together. 'cause like i mentioned before there's only one football there's only one football and let's be honest. They're running team tennessee. Titans are running team and they run the ball. Twenty five thirty five twenty five to thirty five times a game. Of course they're going to derrick henry the rock that's their bread and butter but now they have that element of too deep threats. Who can run any route tree. Who can run any route on the field and get open at any time. That's going to be crazy to see. And it's going to be interesting to see this aftermath so we looked at the julio jones. We looked at the pros. And how julio jones and the tennessee titans won this trade. We're going to look at the other side of this trade and what this is going to do to the league and how this affects the nfl coming up so if you're excited for the nfl and everything to start up and we got training camp starting in about eight days. If you're excited for that. We have mandatory camp near excited. Stay tuned we got you covered on the inside. Are you looking for help with your fantasy football team. Check out the gsm. "Smith are in wind now mode win. I think the these moves may be incongruent with that. A talking point for this team falcons want to win now. Terry knowing arthur smith want to win now okay but i also in survived now vote so they they want to win matt now but i would say there are survived now of katie's wired to win but they're not going to go out. This isn't like what happened. With the falcons. The last two or three years you when you rrestructuring guys. You're signing dante fowler. You're you're bringing back. Todd guler early you doing. All the staff which i rode people are upset. Identity was going to work. that's fine. Nobody has to send me an apology. It's okay. I know you still love me in your heart. It's it's cool this narrative that they were in win now mode as you are defining win now was wrong to begin with at said they were wrong. They never wanted to restructure matt. You have to start with that. They were not. They did not want to do it. And i look. I am of the belief that will never going to know the answer to this for truth. But i'm of the belief that when terry fought knowin- arthur smith came to the falcons knew it was a bad kept situation. I'm not sure they knew how bad it really was. Okay into you really started looking at the situation into two. You really started seeing. wow we. there's not too many options here. we can do. Yeah a absolutely one hundred percent guarantee you that font no did not come to atlanta expecting or wanting to restructure maira up. Hey doesn't mean he doesn't want to win now doesn't mean. He doesn't exist capable quarterback but he wants to get out of this cap held at this franchise in an he did it because in in two arthur In concert because they had to survive k. And in the rest happens whatever the rest happens But they were not going all out to win a super bowl this year. I'm sorry this. This spoils the the julio jones kyle pits calvin ridley hayden hers russell gauge you know offense were matt was gonna throw for six hundred yards and seven touchdowns. Every game was a famous chiseled in stone even more so than kyle pits going to the to the to the allah fame. Before he's played. I get it. I totally get it this but this bunk that they were hearing not just and i'm not blaming fans fans fans. I don't mean that as a criticism but you you see things your car okay. Yeah at this bunk. That has been spun by so many national media members can't believe they would do this when they were in when they were never forget in win now mode go all out. The super bowl was not. Do they wanna win. Yes but they're not going to go all out and bury the future even more than saudi beardie to do it. And i don't answer your question. I think that's the right perspective because it is. It has been some of the national media confusing to me. That has been any names. Because they're very nice people in a lot of really no football they. Some people are friends of mine. And i'm dislike. What are you people writing. What are you saying. And i yeah i don't yeah just going to let it go before this guy. Calm down me. I apologize of. I do think though that the it was made to be more simple than the situation really is. And and i think that's and that's almost always the case with these things. You know the whole thing with trading. Julio i think was made to be far more simple than it really was a lot of things at play Including the fact that he wanted out. And i think that probably the best thing to do when you see a situation and it looks black and white is to take a step back and say there's probably some something else going on here. Some additional details. We don't know and i get for fans it's maddening because you wanna know why you wanna know sure. Why is my favorite player. Being shopped around on on the the trade block But again it's these situations are rarely ever just black and white a win now versus for the future. You know if i'm a gm. I want both but that's just mickey. Yeah yeah and and look if we're living in a world like baseball or whatever something raising he can play economic situations in this data caps situation. Then you know. Maybe if julio jones wanted to stay you do it right and money's not an issue lahser owners willing to spend money and you spend money but just not it's just not the reality of life in the nfl. It's not an and they were not going to. I mean i hate to break any anybody's vulgar. They were not gonna win the super bowl this next season with. Julio jones is just any you know that defense looks like how much they have to prove with a running game and you have an offense. Even if you think matt ryan can still play at a high level on. Cd's he can't but you if you think he can. There's a transition with a new office scheme in any new coaching style. You don't know. And while i think this team has been poorly coached couple of years And while i think some guys are going to perform better overall product is going to be better would. There's a lot of players we don't know they're going to respond. We don't know how they're gonna play in the scheme. We don't know how it on both sides of the ball. We don't have responded. These coaches Maybe they peaked already. Maybe the falcons gave money to some guys. I'm not gonna mention names that they should not have. And these guys are all going to be judged on a whole new level with new sets of eyes with no loyalties to the past whatsoever and and there's a lot of the year right now and it is fear and this is not critically jared. Because i think he's phenomenal and needs to be a part of the future and i don't think anyone franchise thinks otherwise but things go horribly this year you know. Are you thinking. I'm just throwing this out there. Are you thinking. Can we commit x number of dollars to one player defensive tackle when we have so many more holes to fill than we thought right this. I mean seriously so it's another reason. Why maybe the falcons didn't wanna go down that road right now. Outside of the fact. That just wasn't really feasible I just think there's a lotta decisions are gonna spin off. What happens this season. Who's kept who goes gets paid. Who doesn't get paid who we have can on from. I just think it's like starting with a clean chalkboard all over again. And i think this was never a situation where it was going to get fixed or completely rebuilt in one season regardless this was never going to be twenty twenty one. And we're done. This is probably a multi year project to your point where they're going to keep reevaluating some of these guys in figuring out there their long-term fit on the team. And you know even with guys like diaw jones and grady jarrett. If they're looking two years out those guys are gonna be approaching thirty. And and that's the point where you start wondering if that's the guy you're going gonna commit to for long run and this is what we signed up for. I mean fans wanted. Thomas dmitrov in dan quinn gone and they got their wish and i think it was the right decision. I think everyone believes it was right decision but along with that that means the new regime comes in and they re evaluate everything including your star future hall of fame wide receiver. Which is where. Jeff thank you again I mentioned this on twitter. And i'm going to reemphasize you're on the podcast for all the reporting i've been watching. Yours has been the most consistent on these. themes with the falcons. I think it's held up the most consistently over the past three or four months So kudos to that. Because it's been a roller coaster. We've seen some wild reports over the last three months. But i think your experience with this team has has shown over the past three months and is accredited work. You've been doing so on thinking. Yeah on that note tiller listeners where they can find you what you have going on Well since my week won't be interrupted by another flew straight trade. "At the time but you know keep people keep bringing up matt ryan. But he was the one move that they could make it that moment to get under the cap for the league. Your started and i feel like this. The cowboys fan may not understand this. But there's no there's no grace period you have to be under the cap when the nfl year starts. They don't yes. Let you carry over it like in. There have been teams if i think the last one was dallas. Cowboys got penalized. I think the first round draft pick because they went over the cap in a in a non In one of the middle years where the league was under a cpa. They take it seriously. So matt was the easiest and quickest way to get under the cap at at that at that juncture Interestingly you mentioned the negotiations with grady. It almost seems like the worst possible time to try to negotiate an extension is when his agent knows that you're desperate cap space absolutely like that's ever was saying that should be the easy stenciling like if i'm the agent. I'm dragging my feet a making no sweat. Because i know. I've got him right. Where one and now. The julio trade if anything up the possibility for a better negotiating ground with gregg jarrett next year if they want to extend him in help out the twenty twenty two which is not looking great without conceiver. No because you guy in we can circle back to matt ryan on this so right now you. You already had a bad cop situation. Twenty twenty to take what whatever it is fifteen million of a dead money of julio now in twenty twenty two bat ryan's because of the recent restructure cap number twenty twenty two jumps from about twenty five million this year to about forty eight million next year. He's not going to play for. Forty eight million next is not going to happen. So there's only two options one is they restructuring him yet again or to you and i are here one year from today. Talking about was getting a second round draft. Pick for matt ryan enough in the tree. And i'm not really exaggerating because if you look at his post june trade number next year it's not numbers are not equal to julio but it says it's a very similar situation right pay the guy forty eight million we. We can't do that. We can restructure him but we need to get out of this future hall or we can trade him. And i think a lot of these decision a lot of these decisions based on what happens in twenty twenty one This is why i was such a strong proponent of drafting quarterback matt still not sure they made the right decision outfits. Pets Regardless of how good cockpits is. I understand that. Their evaluation of justin fields was not nearly as high as it was trevor lawrence. Or zack wilson. Or or trey lance. Who i i know for a fact they really liked. Trae lands It was clear they did not want to take a guy who they presumed to be by the quarterback but guy Pick in the draft and really like how pits to there's person everybody likes cockpits never seen a guy be declared like an all pro before. He's even plays. I mean it's like people are like when this guy get i feel sorry for him. He will bring this jan or hollering and insert great. But i mean come on let me let me get play right pressure. No pressure so again. I buddy engineer. This comeback. Arthur smith again. It's to come back to their record. This year headed of they. And does arthur smith believe okay. We can trade matt ryan. Let's say eight okay. I think we can trade matt ryan and signed this ryan tannehill level quarterback. Okay as as we proceed ryan tannehill a couple of years ago and and i can get at least eight eight making better if there's nobody. They want draft next year or they can do both so i really think does again. This is it. Cleans up the issue next this year. Doesn't think that the issue admixture Twenty one but not twenty twenty two. I'll get the words out right and But they had to do it they had. They're pushing recent. They had to start doing some of the stuff. Now and i know people are upset. I know people who have blue. Jones jersey are upset. Or he's guy all blob. This is as i said these are. These are businesses wrapped around sports. It's not other way on an and it's just the reality tonight is i wrote at night. I car the forty niners Thought they traded joe montana zapped. I moved to land. But they did as i was hearing. The hawks traded. Dominique wilkins was on the plane. When the braves traded the gohmert the with the murphy flying philadelphia. Oh my god. They traded bill murphy. I grew up in atlanta. But i knew what he met here. And so It's it's just happened to know or interesting. When you mentioned some of those trades because even with montana they had someone waiting in the wings. They had steve young waiting in the wings. And i think what sort of bosom of talk about who and he's going to go down as the one of the greatest players on the falcons maybe at the wide receiver position ever but they drafted calvin ridley in many people consider him a wide receiver. One and i see that sort of as a parallel with that montana. Young situation where you don't necessarily want to let go of this guy. In the ideal scenario he retires with the franchise. But you have someone waiting to take over that spot when when he's gone and it solves multiple problems with the cap and with Being able to elevate calverley immediately to that wide receiver position And then even with del murphy. I remember that That trade massive braves fan. That was devastating to me at the time. And he's a former Mvp award two times with the brakes And this guy you would think. Oh he's going to be a brave for life to steal the phrase from arthur blank and these businesses are they're brutal they don't the debt loyalty only go so far in as much as that. The team is still winning and they have the money to pay these guys so one last thing. I want to run by. Because we've heard this a lot in a i think you've dispelled it multiple times in. Its a narrative that keeps going. Around with the falcons in your one of the few people that i think has has reported on this Differently than many people. There has been this idea. That when the falcons restructured matt that they are now in win now mode they want to win now and that that restructure is a signal that they plan to try to compete immediately for a super bowl and then when they drafted cow pits that win long that narrative their win now mode and of course what came along with that is. Why would you be win now. Mode and then trade away. Julio jones when you can have the best offense in the league What do you say to this. I did the falcons knows..

"The playoffs raiders in two thousand. Seventeen under jack. Del rio they finished. Twenty third in offense in the entire staff got fired. So i'm not saying that's on todd downing but it's gonna be you know look at you have to like the the one with my memory. I did not i can. I cannot remember what happened in that. I guess there well they would right before gruden was that. Yeah they were and they were a hot mess. Nobody remember yeah that is whole off season and then they were a complete hot mess. And it's like. I'm not saying that. Todd down and can't do it but it's interesting me that arthur smith of all people shipped. Julio jones back to the titans where arthur. There's an arthur smith size void calling plays so we'll we'll see how that works out. Which i'm looking at the raiders. It was more than that downing was like calling the plays. I guess yeah i just. I don't really remember like a lot of eight around the nfl discussion being like. Hey what's downing doing their receivers. That's not a lot of downing talk that kind of combusted. Sometimes you forget that jack. Del rio pro presided over. Twelve and four raiders team in to the as well i feel like someone associated with del rio or seventy eight points out that his record was better with the raiders. That you know gruden's was so this is not crazy the sandwich seven nine and six and ten and then it was i use and now the jon gruden air what else. What else would have seen all right. Anyway forget about that there. You go fans are excited. The titans long gone long gone. Well there was gonna be in primetime more. So i do like it for the average fan. I did look at this. The falcons were buried anyways. They weren't getting any any pop. This season with julio now if the titans are going to be in primetime which they are a little more okay. Now it's i. I like the fact we get the julio instead about your your quiet. Not so quiet. Doubts about ryan tannehill. true star. Does that as this now somewhat is that put on the buying. I have those. Yeah you have a lot of some quibble about should we actually have you. Tannahill is a guy that trust year after year. At this point we have this conversation a couple of weeks ago. this helps. I mean there are there are like the qb gurus like. Nate thais. we've had on. I would love to get a little more thoughts on this. That he thinks t kind of things tannehill is still like one read. Maybe i'll get my second or i'll freak out and it's very it's very same and independent but what it's worked incredibly well so that you can't argue with the results in this'll help keep. It is interesting that julio jones basically there were the whispers that he wants to go somewhere where. The quarterback is one of the established. Top five deep passers in the league. Hill is middle of the pack. He's not you know nightmare. And he's not the best. I mean he's really well to this reminds me i had erica. Cut a clip of aj brown. Who was showing the personality. I really hadn't seen before speaking this. Julio jones trade into existence weeks and weeks ago. Let's let's listen to. Aj a bit. The me i'm up and coming pro to not a big deal kind of a big deal but not really okay traffic in a way. Whatever you the goal of our era of our receivers help me help you come home. We'll come home texting. Come a- close friends that was cut off part of the thing because it didn't make sense out of context but it was him standing in front of also like our city in front of us. A fan made image of tannahill. And he starts like pumping up tannahill as the man in a leader that you don't even need to talk about derrick henry. Because he's got the meanest face ever and you add julio to that mix and they're the meanest like four pack in the league. I like the. I like a little. Aj brown puffing his chest out and making it happen. Yeah i like those some good personality for me all right. That's that let's hit. The wrestling news hit it. Rigging a florida..

"Appreciate it. And then i guess i guess producer. Steve here is like which steelers defensive lineman See like the cam heyward of this. Podcast he is the is the cam heyward. I don't know. I don't know all right. Let's not let's not do the steelers and bringer runner employees matchless. They're one of the things i like about you danny and there are many of them That you have more notes normally than you have thin questions that are asked to you. What is the number one thing in your notes right now that you wanna talk about that. I haven't asked about. There's two things. Where is julio jones in the greatest receivers of all time. Because i have been thinking about no seriously. He has the most receiving yards through ten years of every receivers jerry. Rice josh good piece of fivethirtyeight this week that basically said when julio's healthy he's still top five receiver. I'm not saying it's the radio wall street or anything like that. I'm not trying to say. Julio as a person seems a very little in common moss. I i'm not saying it's gonna break receiving record but it does feel important to say that. Just because julio jones has been a falcon and somewhat irrelevant from a team standpoint for a long time this is like an all time. Great being traded at the very tail end of his prime. I don't wanna just jump over that. I agree with that. I also think that when he talked about how irrelevant. they are from a football standpoint. I agree with that but every time something like this happens i just think about the how much of a what if the falcons super bowl was true right. Believable there've been. It's lens lid that you know. There have been people who've speculated that the patriots maybe move on from or try to start a succession plan for brady earlier if that doesn't happen I mean there's the butterfly effect of what happens if the patriots don't blow Twenty five point lead It's just really. It's really kind of incredible. And i feel bad for falcons fans 'cause this is like that scabby ripped off again. It's like you think discards issues been healed kyle pits and then you rip it off again because this is. This is the best player in team history and like that's fricking brutal. When you trade the best player in team history for a second rounder. And i know that the falcons should not be held to the coles. Because it's the same. Compensation mohamed sanu. Obviously they got a good deal from hamas. But that's always how we're going to remember it is who was traded for the same hall. They got from mohamed. Sanu because of money quite frankly that's never an excuse in football fans will never care. Well you know. We need cap space. We traded the best player in franchise history. And you know. Maybe he'll twelve hundred dollars for the titans this year. That's a calamity. Do you think this trade is overshadow much under ninety our job at bethpage black. It was to eighty nine. I will give you that. It was a downhill but it was to eighty nine. I just i feel like that wasn't dominate. The news cycle at the end And now fish trade really just kinda muddies the waters there will take away from the drive. Was that it was two seventy five. The last time we played. And then i said can you do it and then you did. I'm gaining bulk. As the summer goes along is lifting. Is it boxes i. I don't i don't talk about about my competitive advantage. So in one year's time we're doing the one year anniversary of his podcast. What is the take on straight. Julio and aj brown were really fun together and it was an absolute gift. We got to watch that happen. And the falcons probably wished that kyle pits had watched you know maybe maybe the falcons could have been like. Hey cal pits want to just watch him. Julio jones works for your the greatest professional of any receiver like you know we watch his work habits and chill for year. Maybe they should've let that happen. But instead hey we are the winners we got to watch. Aj brown allegiance play together and have a ton of fun. Here's here's here's my take on this. I think that julio poise eleven games he has two games are just awesome when we pull this up here. Sorry steve first of all the first preseason game. i'm sure who they will not play in it. As against the atlanta falcons which. I kind of like he plays at seattle. The falcon the titans. Play at seattle on september nineteenth. Another team. that wanted to. Yeah and i think that that is the game..

"Or something like that. Were the first day. So yeah and i think it's important to note for there are a lot of rumors that Around the nfl they get floated through the media. That sometimes it comes from agent. Sometimes it comes from other teams. Sometimes it comes from the team themselves. I think you guys have intimated that. Maybe the falcons put that out there. Put pressure on the team to do better with their offers in rally. We don't know what kind of offers were legitimately on the table You know. I think many people got it in their heads that hey god that could have gotten the first round. There is a huge letdown in. Yeah you know to evans point. Maybe maybe the deal did include a first rounder but maybe atlanta had to give up a third and maybe they have to eat half the contract. you know this year salary in just barely freed up enough space and those are the details that matter those kind of details we may never know frankly and they're the ones that You know no is actually looking at actually having to consider and thinking about the long term health of this franchise will twenty twenty one Be different without. Julio jones Absolutely you know. This is a player. That matt ryan has come to lean on incredibly in the ten years. That leo has been in atlanta. He has been an all pro. He's been one of the greatest receivers not only in the league but arguably of all time he holds some some stats that i don't think we'll see him broken anytime soon and to be blunt this is what happens in the nfl. I i've said before. I'm going to reiterate his close out this podcast If you play long enough in the nfl there's much higher chance that you will not finish with the team that you started with. And unfortunately that is now holding. True for jones as he heads to the tennessee. Titans in a blockbuster trade we will be covering this more extensively. We'll be talking about the fall out what this means for roster what this means for the wide receiver rotation and of course you can find all that at the foul-caller dot com surreal quick. "Agent signings the past few years. I know saints fans love bragging. About how loomis you know. The salary cap goes apply to him but they lost a couple of starters. This offseason as well ran. They're gonna they're gonna feel the brunt of it this coming season. I don't think terry wanted to put the pelicans in that situation. And you know. I think the most important thing was rebuilding the salary cap in the coming years because like i said giving julio jones that that kind of extension of sixty six million dollars over three years was a mistake i think ability was a mistake when it happened and now in hindsight. It's an even bigger mistake so you know to get out of that. That's that's the biggest possible win now. Of course you know. I wouldn't have been happy if it was a fourth round or just a fifth rounder that he got but you know in early day to pick a second round without should turn into starter in other falcons also another thing. We haven't talked about after they signed their drug class. They will have her on eight million dollars in salary cap to work with with the rest of the age of market right So you know they could possibly look into getting another pass rusher. They could bolstered the defense just a little bit. So it's not it's not all loss you know it's not just a a one for one in vacuum. Will you're jones for psycho rounder. it's it also has a lot to do with the complexities of the salary cap. Yeah and that's oh you brought up excellent points on especially the you know the contract extension. I know at the time there are a lot of people who said you know wiser player. Who's only you know. You're tuned to his other contract giving an extension on so it wasn't necessarily universally liked at the time. And i think some of us are looking back and saying could they have done something different. And and honestly some of the reporting has suggested that the contentiousness over the negotiations. That contract extension is where some of the animosity has come from with. Julio towards the falcons franchise just in general not even specifically to this regime who obviously had nothing to do with that. But towards the franchise maybe a arthur blank in the in the rest so You know take that for what you will. But i think you bring up some interesting points there evan. To close us out your thoughts on the trade compensation do you feel like they could have gotten more or do you feel like again. This was something where the bigger deal for them was offloading the entire sour. Yeah honestly the only way they would probably going to be able to get a better deal where somebody takes on that contract and gives us like a first round pick Is if this dragged on until like training camp started and a wide receiver one on a different team. Got her which you never wanna see anybody get hurt. But that's probably the most realistic example of like what we could've guide more in Because i mean this scenario we have now. I mean that's probably the best we're going to get And you know you take it with like on on said we've got a bunch of cap that's gonna be freed up and we'll add some players hopefully on defense They really need to add to the receiver core. I think they're pretty solid even without julio jones now But yeah i. I don't see anything you know. The other thing too is. There was that rumored first round pick it could have easily been that the falcons get a first round pick but they have to give like julio in the second or julio leona third team just didn't want to give up and and then also not talking about tap stuff maybe they were taking like half the contract.

"What adjective us. Because this is a big one. We're going to talk about the fact that it has happened. What has been rumored really since march and improbably. The the wheels started turning much sooner than that Julio jones has been traded from the falcons We will get into the details of that trade but before we get into that. Wanna talk about. Who is joining me on this. Podcast first and foremost is my co host. The one and only forever matt online gena kelly gene. How you doing. I could be better to be quite honest. I did not expect to half the try to process all of my emotions about julio jones leaving today i just wanted a nice relaxing stomach and here we are. There's no relaxing falcon span. Not or somebody who works in. Nfl media you can never really count on relaxing weekend at anytime. And so i guess that the strive set home the certainly does Also joining us is one of the writers at the alchoholic non on how you doing. I'm doing pretty well. You know. I've been waiting for this trade for a while. I think we all have. I think it would have been a lot worse if this just came out of nowhere. You know we've had all the reports we've talked. We've talked nauseam about this. And i think i was to the point of art. Let's just get it over with already. Yeah exactly i in some ways. It's like pulling the Pulling the band aid off so all right. Let's get into it. Let me I cover what the actual deal is. Julio will be going to the titans So he will be paired up with. Aj brown. I think you could argue that. That will be one of the best wide receiver one wide. Receiver duos in the entire. Nfl after this trade goes through the falcons will get a twenty twenty two second rounder and a twenty twenty three fourth rounder from the titans The titans will get julio jones of course and a six rounder. Back from falcons in twenty twenty three. The most important thing here is the titans will take on all. Julio jones Salary this year the fifteen point three million. So this will. Net the falcons an additional fifteen million in cap space for this year. I this will allow them to sign their rookie class as well as having some additional cap space you know. The estimates are between seven and eight million to sign the falcons Rookie draft class. So they will carry over seven to eight million This year in if they can carry over all that that will obviously be important because twenty twenty. Two cap wise is not much. Better for the falcons So those are the specifics. We know now he is going to an afc team. We do not play them this year. During the regular season however titans are the first game of the preseason for the falcons so if there's any solace in this it's that julio was almost never in preseason games so we probably will not see him against the falcons. Yeah but almost never on the field on third down south getting getting. Oh yeah here we go with hot. Takes so gino through i. Now we know the details of this trade and honestly it seems like you know the day started with. Hey the is going to happen and within like a minute. We started getting the details. What are your thoughts on this trade. The value of it and you know from the standpoint of a fan who watches his team but maybe even from the standpoint of someone who looks at this you know more analytically. Yeah so i think that..

"I wouldn't say girly or Freeman for the page is not going to pay Scarborough half if that of what you're going to take early and in the Patriots offense, they're probably going to produce the same. Yeah, so, okay. I don't have it. It's not a bad list at this time. Here's why I want to bring that up. Sony Michelle or Julio Jones, and most Scarborough Is kind of like like that I think if they're going to make that choice, I think that's what that's what you're looking at. And that's the conversation bills having with himself, you know, Sony Michelle versus Julio Jones and Bo scarbrough Julio Jones & Todd, Gurley Julio, Jones and Duke Johnson in the comment. I, I think we all know what we would do. I think I know the people in the chat would do, but we're not the ones, making the decisions they'll is, and I think that's how he's going to page end up looking at it. I knew that, like you said, the Patriots trading to kill Harry along with pics for Julio Jones makes so much more sense to me. It's top of their track record than eating Sony because I would even argue winovich, would make no sense in Stony at this point. Yeah, I just feel like they are again. Belichick is extremely attached to not being left. Playing a Johnny Smith at running back or converting. Somebody else to running back because they have an injury to Damien Harris, James, why? It's not really that guy. Her mind raced even says, not ready to be that guy. Yep. Probably end up going into a game, a couple of weeks or even, you know, God, forbid donate. Damon Harris. Gets seriously injured. You go into a stretch of the season with Brandon Bolden and Johnny said, as your two running backs, you know, early running backs, that's a situation that he just doesn't want to be in anymore, right? Think he's fed up with it with Stephen Jackson. That was a good poll. Did it with Cordarrelle Patterson and 2015. I think he's had enough of that so I could definitely see Sony Michelle being a little bit of a sticking point as much as that as crazy as that sound. All right let's talk about some OTAs Patriots OTAs on Friday. Well once again be open to the media, we got to see one practice last week on Thursday. I do want to preface this conversation was saying that some of the things that I've seen come out of that one practice is absolutely Bonkers about Mac Jones. Like it's one practice guys, like let's calm down. It's one practice in the middle of May with shorts and t-shirts wage..

NFL: Move the Sticks with Daniel Jeremiah & Bucky Brooks
"julio jones" Discussed on NFL: Move the Sticks with Daniel Jeremiah & Bucky Brooks
"I think they made a concerted effort to become a better team or more balanced office. No it's again to kind of summarize it as move onto the wide receiver thing. Yeah the windows wide open and good for mahomes. Put out there on twenty zero. That's the ultimate goal man. You won't win every time you get on the grass. So i i'm all for it. I i like the fact that he said that Your thoughts on the julio jones thing manage so many thoughts right This only because when you look at. Julio julio is to me the prototypical number one receiver that we talk about in draft rooms when we about a number one receiver. I gather. we're going to spend a top five pick at a wide receiver. Julio jones is kind of what that number warm receivers shouldn't buy when you think about his size six three two hundred twenty plus panels four three four four speed physical freak athlete who also has a refined game outstanding route run create separation at his best guy. That could tell you it up in really. I think what is amazing before last season. Dds sixty years. We had over thirteen hundred receiving yards now the touchdowns for whatever reason don't correlate with yards and maybe that's the schematic thing but his production has a number one receiver was unravel unmet. I mean he's in the category of i think right now. Averages ninety five point five receiving yards per game which is first all time like he's in jerry rice category in discussion. And so that is in your mind and kinda like playing a video game when you play the game. Hey julio jones it'll be a ninety nine. Au mad mike. I i want but at thirty two years of age A bit of an injury history where he just missed a bunch of games. He said knicks in danes throughout his career. You just wonder. How much does he have left at least level when it comes to performance. Yes he's gonna command attention because of the name in the jersey number but how much does he have to be able to sustain. We saw jerry rice in randy. Moss as older players still have a level of production and create. The fear factor. Does julio have the same thing. Because i think that determines whether you will go all in and make a move to bring him over thinking is a two or three or fix the. Here's the challenge i would say. Is that when you look at The downside to trade. Okay so if you're going to trade for julio jones. Here's the downside. I'm wanting to part with picks. Now i think second round pick is probably what ends up happening There's i don't think it's any chance to get a one. You can record this. I'll apologize if they do if they get one. I gotta believe another picks going back the other way. I don't see that happening. So you're going to have to part with picks probably second round pick. You're gonna have a huge hit on your salary cap for a couple years and you're going to have to give him a new contract. So that's the three part commitment to a guy who's now thirty two years old who even though production has still been solid bucks like you talk to people around the league. I haven't haven't gotten these numbers yet but they say when you study the gps numbers with him each of the last three years. It's going down. So you've got a descending player. Who wants more money. Who's going to cost you picks and it's gonna hit your salary cap like that's a lot of negatives go onto one positive. Yeah it's a lot and so it has to be in a very short concentrated stint and so the teams the two teams did really been associated with the net..

Greg Bedard Patriots Podcast with Nick Cattles
Julio Jones to the Patriots: Smoke or Fire?
"About Julio Greg. Chris Simms comes out yesterday and listening cross. Sims has a checkered past when it comes to breaking news. But Simms comes out and says, Julio wants Tennessee, or New England. We've heard rumors about Julio. Wants a play with Cam. What are you hearing about Julio Jones? Well, the first thing as far as potential trade or where the Patriots are, what I've heard too. This point is that they are still sort of kicking the tires on it. I don't think they pursued it in any way. Really with the Falcons they might have had a conversation or two but really, I don't think it's gone very far. I think I might have heard what the initial asking price was, which was, you know, maybe a first-round pick, maybe a second round pick. I think that that too rich for the Patriots blood, plus, they probably want something done about Julio's money. Like the Americans paying half of the first year or something like that. So I don't think And when people also have to remember is that I think June 2nd is the is the is the date this year. We're basically the Falcons have to wait till after June 1st to trade or release Julio Jones because of the way the cap rules are that they get credit. Once it gets to June 2nd, then you could put half on Thursday or half on the following year. So that makes digesting some of those really large contracts. A lot more palatable for teens and the Falcons are just so screwed with their cap. They have to do that. So we are now what day is today, it's the 26th, so there's still time and deadlines spur action. I think right now a bunch of teams including the Patriots or just sort of looking at this and I'm kicking the tires and seeing what kind of deal can be there. So I don't think anything is imminent even though this is all people can talk about and oh the Patriots are the betting odds. Favorite to to DeLand Julio Jones

Arrowhead Addict: A Kansas City Chiefs Podcast
Are the Kansas City Chiefs Going To Land Julio Jones?
"Let's talk. julio jones my friend. Because i mean look it's a long shot i'm going to say it oddsmakers think it's a long shot. The chiefs are thirty. Three to one odds to land. Julio jones in a trade which is way longer odds than many many other teams. So las vegas does not think. Julio jones is going to land in kansas city but julio jones is gonna land somewhere and it sounds like it's not in philadelphia this year. Where are you at all this. I'll say this vegas didn't think phil mickelson was going to win this as last major. Guess what a that happened. So i don't know where julio jones is gonna land. I do think. Kansas city actually makes sense. I'm surprised vegas hasn't bumped it up a little bit as based on the past knowledge of how aggressive brett. Vh is the fact that julio jones said he wants to play for a winner he wants to play for a contender. You sit basically said give me the hell out of atlanta. You know If you wanna play for winter you wanna play for a contender. You wanna play for a good quarterback now you kate. A city checks all those boxes. You have a hall of fame coach. Andy reid i would. I would think that those numbers would be higher. What are your thoughts on this. Well let me kick it back to you with this. Albert breer reported today that basically that would probably take second round. Pick to get julio jones. Now that's it like. I think it sounds good on paper. Yeah i think it sounds good on paper to julio jones. i'm probably in the conservative camp of. I think the chiefs are already more loaded than any other team out there. They've already gotten their the last two years. I don't care what the bills in the browns have done. The chiefs are gonna make mincemeat of them. Whatever they play so. I don't know that we need julio jones so so you know to me. I'd rather keep that second round pick

Antonio Brown Re-Signing With Buccaneers on One-Year Deal
"Antonio brown is good. The case could be made over a six year period before he left pittsburgh he was the best receiver. Sense jerry. rice and the thing about receivers are randy. Moss might have this amazing year or two and his talent was you know. Maybe the best avenue randy moss. Another guy might have a year or two but these receivers tend to come and go fast. Now they stick around they might be like. Julio jones is he won the top three receivers. now he's not today but he certainly had times. Wise brown was very consistent very consistent and in just eight games. He had forty five catches as the number three option and what really stood out is his yards after catch or the best on the team so this is not a guy going out of bounds. This is a guy taken the ball and head up the field. I agree very productive. And if you think about it then that's awesome great. Why well obviously there's the author field questions but if you look at the time before the off the field were the questions. This was as productive receivers. We've seen since jerry rice and that's saying something that means maybe the second most productive six year period ever ever. Now he's hitting the wall when it comes to his age Four receivers typically again jerry. Rice was the exception to that even if he drops off a little bit a little bit. 'cause age antonio brown i believe will be at least as good if not better this year. Well how could he drop off and be better. The other circumstances remember he joined the team midseason right as much as he is a pro's pro in a way that in browns able to get acclimated and get integrated. He was paying much better coming into the playoffs now. He did get hurt but to me. His last three or four games were better than his first three or four which is a trend line. I think they continues with a more robust offseason into having the whole time with the team. So net net. I think browns more of a factor

Who Will Pick Kyle Pitts in Thursday's NFL Draft?
"All right. Let's have fun here with. Kyle pits blank will select kyle pits right. I think it's the falcons. I mean friscos. Been talking about this for some time. He doesn't think that the falcons are gonna take a quarterback he thinks arthur blank is all in on on matt ryan for another year to have a new coach and the new general manager. And here's the thing like if you trade down four. And i suspect it'll be teams interested in trading up to four to get whether it's trae lance macaroni justin fields. If you're the falcons if you move down if you move down you're not getting cockpits. That's just the end the conversation because either the bengals. The dolphins entertainment five or six and presumably. You're not trading with those teams already have quarterbacks. So that's the math you're doing and if you're not getting likely to march as we saw a report on monday for peter king that maybe julio jones could be moved with which seems crazy what they need a cap space Could you turn down for. Cornerback if the falcons you could but again what gives you more value in terms of making that football team better. I think it's how pet. So if i'm the falcons and i'm not taking justin feels matteo's trae lands i'm sampling. Taking cup pits. Janssen the blank blank. We'll take pets. I think it's it's atlanta. But i also be surprised if the team traded up with the falcons maybe even take pits like ryan saying you know the train up to the quarterback but you know teams fall in love your dallas. You know thousand the four but you know if a team really loves him that much and it's hard not to love that much than you could see. Maybe a team being overly aggressive. I think it was on On the nfl network this morning on good morning football there was a segment that they do with the giants traded up. You know. I don't know who is doing the job. Esau just a screen grab of it on twitter but the giants gave their first or second ebony ingram and something else to move up to four to get pits and it was you know something that on paper make some sense but you know. Obviously something is not likely to happen but still i would say it's four is where he goes. But the falcons do make some sense especially they decided we want from me jonesing. Another playmaker

NFL WEEK 3: Our official predictions for who wins this weekend
"So. I gave talk about. Obviously a game that still sits our my mind from last week. The Atlanta Falcons go our land Alcan's play. The Chicago bears this week. Chicago was to know the Falcons are all into one o'clock on Fox. Obviously, the Falcons. About that the shambles, the the. Disgusting performance that we saw last week losing a game that they should've never lost Dallas cowboys now going to Chicago bears team defensively is still one of the better teams in the NFL. Immature bisky while not playing. Ultra, great. Still playing well enough for them to win. If, you look at this game, you would think the Falcons will win because one of the Falcons do have going for them as they do have one of the better offenses in felt even to the two weeks you've seen that. And they're going to a bears team that. Can Be, offered to challenge America can be limited. So the Falcons you put up points. The game should be over now the falcons defense does have some questions, but I do think they would put voices should be enough to create distance in the bears it'd be able to pick up the whip. Obviously the bears are companies just gave a lot of confidence. As they should. To An older, start the season I mean. I saw some Falcon fans tweet about it. They don't necessarily want the T. Blues remember they're only to the of this dot over by any stretch. But people really what? Dad Queen Gone. And so. It's Cadillac Party. Wants. To lose. The ship but the Chicago bears going to three eight. Oh probably be one of the young shockers of this early season. I'm going to very hastily picked the Falcons to win this game. I think they they are the better team. Now whether they actually leads to the results on Sunday we'll see but I'm going to go the Falcons to win this game as they are the better team to me. I, Think Matt Ryan will continue his great start to the season. I think are often will continue to click. There are questions of Julio. Jones will play this Sunday I. Think he will. He usually plays to injuries when his Julio not move something now he did. Have a setback in practice but. You know I think. He should be able to go. and honestly, if he didn't would be great for my fantasy team either but I got kindergarten if I need to step up or racial gauge. So yeah. But yeah with the Falcons. Next game forty niners, giants, I've this Games interesting. Remember last week. The point is playing metlife stadium loss Garoppolo MOATS are. Bosa, Thomas they lost a lot of guys last week. And the. Giants team who? Looks like they'll probably be at the bottom of the barrel the NFC east. Especially after losing saquon Barkley. For? The. season. When I players were scared to play at metlife stadium because they felt like the the stadium turf in and everything was the reason for a lot of those injuries that they had last week when they played the jets. Now. I it's. It's interesting to see what it's GONNA be 'cause they're playing a backup quarterback backup running backs they got sued offensive Lineman. I still don't have Richard Sherman. You have a lot of injuries. and. So this may be a winnable game for the giants I mean, you don't really know what to expect from the forty niners this week. So it'd be you say here they of Jimmy, Garoppolo at least played to me I. Think you would be like, okay for eight hours I think we'd still be able to win, but we don't know how good the Ford back for Norwich backup QB may play. I mean, luckily, the void ours have a lot of defensive talent still. So it's not like older pleaded they have nobody but. It. Isn't as comfortable as A. But I would still in my right mind, go with the four years to win the game.

Two Seattle Seahawks earn Player of the Week honors after dominant Week 1 win
"Maybe, the most impressive team of the day was Seattle. Russell Wilson was thirty one of thirty, five, Oh my God for three, hundred, twenty, two, yards, four touchdowns no picks. That's ridiculous. Thirty one of thirty five metcalf picked up where he left off big day and they destroyed Atlanta and and I think that NFC west is just going to be fascinating all year long Seattle's not going to have a home field advantage. You're not GonNa have that twelfth man thing they got going out there but man, they're they're good and they're a veteran team I I think Seattle. Really is going to be a very difficult to deal with this year that quarterback may be in the prime of his career right now what year nine for him it is e was so special in that game. He was so good. It's just he's. Become. So, much fun to watch play fast the operates and how he's really gotten such a feel for the game. Become what Sean mcvay would call an extension of the offensive coordinator He's in control. It was also game that Matt Ryan threw for four, hundred, fifty they were down I mean, Julio Jones, at Fifty Ridley at one, hundred, thirty gauge to gauge at and fourteen. They, Have Hayden hearst they IRV Smith I think Atlantic could be good. Defense has been a problem for a while which is weird because it's Dan Quinn to think about that. which was Laying the first coordinator when the seahawks became. Great. Exactly.

Falcons could field an offense with 11 first-round draft picks
"So we had a truck a couple of signings by the Atlanta Falcons over the weekend right to pick up tight end Hayden Hurst from the Baltimore Ravens and they also acquired look Kwan Treadwell a former number one pick for the Minnesota Vikings yeah as the Atlanta falcons roster currently stands right now on offense alone just on offense they have a Levin former first round picks all of these former first round picks quarterback Matt Ryan first round pick Todd Gurley who sign when he was released first round pick Julio Jones first round pick Calvin Ridley first round pick the Quantrill first round pick Hayden Hurst first round pick left tackle Jake Matthews first round pick left guard James carpenter first round pick center Alex Mack former first round pick Chris Lindstrom the right guard former first round pick and right tackle Caleb McGary also that he first started his first round eleven is incredible let them all eleven of them a former first round pick I mean there's no way that's ever happened before right I can't believe that what ever but here's the real question if you had to redraft everyone of these players how many would be former first rounder this okay because I think this is fair Lidstrom McGarry and carpenter I've always been really what one or two years no it's been really since two thousand eleven okay yeah so let's remind me Gerry I think you were taken off or taken them out yeah okay so all of the other nine how many would be redrafted as a first round what's what's going on it's not right absolutely no question that runs for Todd Gurley no yeah I I would say no I would sit well I would say no one quite frankly his a conversation about the value of the position in general could also affect the new with him that was the thing coming out of college yes I look he has fifty eight rushing touchdowns over his first whatever seasons and all the other ones are either in the hall of Famer going let me just say six are we saying first rounder today or go back to the beginning again it would re drawing back to the beginning again because I'm currently the way Todd Gurley came out I mean would you not still take him in the first one that's the question now right are you going to pay for that kind of production from a running back anymore we saw Christian McCaffrey Leonard for net like there's been plenty examples of even a legal or not re signing a big second contract drafting a great one of the first round can still benefit you a lot okay I'm just trying to get to it you know is that what they've done in their right career does that mean where are the first roll worthy to me the girly thing is to your point he had a knee injury coming out of college and right when they signed with the red sign that long term deal with they're trying they got out of now then he was going to be chronic so to me the top group member he was the first one that airports reset the market for running backs and it turned out no he just re establish the old line of thinking but that first three years of production would you that would you spend a first round pick on that because we saw that rand's office how much in common now it always goes like this with the running game but in combination with an offense of line that did really well what you brought into what worth over would you pay for that as the foundation of your off I'm beginning to go the Melkite around here that I'm not sure running back as well because Melvin Gordon was in that same draft and Melvin Gordon is on his team I got an extreme I think that's the biggest conversation we could take out of this is the running back position record number mellow one point eighty never take a running back in the first Rana I wonder for we're slowly but surely going back to it I mean there was a contract a couple years ago with the first running back off the board was late second round out of Tennessee and I think we're going back to that after a bevy running backs being taken so we were definitely in on Matt Ryan yes we're out on Todd Gurley a legit is amazing looking back at Todd Gurley's draft class there's not a lot of got like if you're talking about reworking the top ten Todd Gurley might be the most wealthy in that group maybe outside of Amari Cooper yeah we can we can have that discussion later because that's in it read graphic I think is always fast and you have to wait a certain amount of time Julio Jones know quite well right Calvin Ridley first round too early again I think it's too early last year what he had sixty three receptions okay just under nine hundred okay seven touchdowns I would mean he also can't account for how bad that team ask me yes or no right now I'd say yes but I still think it might be too early Hayden Hurst no not because look they they took marketers later in the draft in the third round he clearly became the tight end of Baltimore which made Hayden Hurst by the way has taken in the first row before Lamar Jackson R. Jackson for Lamar starting you know tight on that team right now marketers you said right Hayden Hurst also dealt with some injuries and stuff there too that's okay in perfect sample size and when you have a guy come on like marquetry who could predict that the way that offense ended up of what he was the Mackey award winner a what he was coming home with one truck will no no Jake Matthews yes I think so I think so I think so do not I meet yeah yeah I mean yes he's been there he's been there is a second contract I also wrote a like doesn't miss a lot of games he's he's dependable yeah I think that's what it our printer are probably not I mean he's he's been a guy that's been in the league for nine years now dependable guy but we're talking about first round right you know I mean when you're twenty four we'll talk about for sure we're talking about top ten picks like a lot yeah yeah yeah I I'd probably lean toward no on that as well yeah yeah Alex Mack yeah absolutely yeah yeah and then the other than what we remember and I think Lidstrom would be headed in that direction yeah kill the guy who's more reach last year get killed the one I have questions about obviously we know the health concerns that existed before the draft earning a hard issue that he had had to deal with early in this time oxygen so there's a lot to hash out with those two but just I mean blows off the page when you just read that number the every single hundred dinners with that crew yeah what eleven Ryan still got its still on that ride to reach for the paycheck first but everyone else has to at least go for their wallets and act like there's also a common I do with you know with my dad so you got rid you got Ridley help you got got this R. Ridley Hearst links from a Gerry all still on their rookie deals you know wrecked yeah everybody else is is all for them yeah if I'm looking at yes correct so yeah they're all fascinating eleven a former first rounders on

L. not the box and not would Brady instead he goes back to the peach state as a former Georgia bulldog headed to the Atlanta Falcons one day after being released by the rams it's a one year six million dollar agreement but Adam Schefter reminds us that will still pull in plenty of coin from the rams not only did Todd Gurley want to go back there but they had a need girly goes back to Georgia the falcons fill the gap that they created when they released abbante Freeman in a salary cap casualty earlier this offseason so girly goes back to Georgia the falcons get their man keep in mind that the rams are paying him seven and a half million dollars this season on that one year deal and whatever else the falcons add on is just icing on the cake for Todd Gurley Gurley is run for more than a thousand yards in three of his five seasons with the rams he ran for a career low though eight fifty seven just this past year feel the aid style on Golovkin away going how he fits with his new team so I look at their depth chart right now and the death star get laughed after the release of the pontiff Freeman is relatively fan not ito Smith and Brian hill and you know it's in quad copter Allison who are sort of debt level running backs and taught happens to be from Atlanta which are happy to be out there in Georgia I should not be played at the university of Georgia also it is not that your home coming the only thing that matters in football but there are a lot of boxes that Todd Gurley checked by going back to the falcons are going to the father died today but I'm not surprised by this move all right with the girly now gone from the rams the onus is now on to other people Todd Gurley was expendable Todd Gurley was someplace to save money Brandon cooks might be as well with Cooper Kupp and Robert what's on that roster do you need to be paying Brandin cooks the Los Angeles rams are moving in this second phase of their title contention will it work we'll find out the truth is now the pressure ships from GM les Snead the coach Sean McVay now the pressure ships to the quarterback they put at the center of this new face this center of his new rebuild Jared Goff can the rams continue to be a Super Bowl contender the answer lies and how much you believe in Jared Goff Jared Goff and

Jalen Ramsey's troubled Jaguars tenure ends with blockbuster trade to Rams
"Terms of Jalen Ramsey will talk about this he finally got what he wanted the end result the disgruntled corner headed to the Los Angeles Rams the Jaguars finally relented and Ramsey to the west coast for first round draft picks two of the one in twenty twenty one in two thousand twenty one also a fourth rounder in the two thousand twenty one draft here's a statement for Jaguars executive VP. Tom Coughlin given the situation with Jalen we made this decision based on what we thought is in the best interest of the Jacksonville Jaguars for this season and well into the future we feel the trade that we struck with the rams gives us great value for the next two drafts and remain confident that our team today will compete this season for a division title Jalen Wasser Productive Flair but the time came to move on and we wish him and his family the best in Los A- Angela here's head coach Doug marrone obviously I had a good relationship with him and we were working together to get them healthy on the field and that that's what my focus was so he can get on the field and help us you know win football games and now you know how concentrating on on the players gotta here and and getting our guys focused on on on Cincinnati I think in his league nothing ever really surprises me anymore you know especially from the business side of things I found out like everybody else did last night you know lately point Dave came in and told me Rams reporter Lindsey theory joins us from L. A. and Lindsey listen there's been a lot of coming and going and all Ryder roster changes what's the general reaction to all of the news from the rams this week Wendy for a team that's three and three and in the mid of a three game losing streak certainly renewed buzz and energy at the team facility this morning now I am told the Jalen Ramsey is in route to Los Angeles and he's expected here later this afternoon or the rams do expect that he will pass his physical and I am told that he could be on the field for them as soon as Sunday against the Falcons now this would be viewed as a move where the rams are going all in once again to try to make a repeat super bowl run but I am told the Rams really believe that this is a move for their long-term future keep to leave and Marcus Peters or playing the season on expiring contracts Ramsey has another season left and the rams do intend to sign him to a long term engine now as you mentioned he's not the only new face here at the facility today Kenny Young Austin Corbett also were here they have passed their physicals though remains to be seen if they will be at practice later this afternoon and one more note Wendy Safety John Johnson is headed to injured reserve because of shoulder injury. Lindsey thank you it was a rare blockbuster trade a few weeks now before the trading deadline Ramsey joined a small handful of veteran players traded for multiple first round picks in the last third two years or so Khalil Mack and Jay Cutler garnered big offers from the bears the dolphins move two first rounders for Ricky Williams and it too big halls to get Herschel Walker an Eric Dickerson listen we can go back to the jags but since June Ramsey is moving onto the rams let's start with what he means for the La Rams Right now we'll Wade Phillips now gets a play defense the way he wants to Wakefield's really wants to play in your face on the line of scrimmage with the defensive line pressure and then in your face on the live with men cover corners. He hasn't been able to do that to be honest with you with Marcus Peters Marcus Peters is not not played good man to man coverage needs a better zone corner so now wade having Jalen gets the opportunity to get back to Colin defense the way he wants to do it I'll be really interested to see if they use Jalen the way we want I bill belichick thrill reverse where you put him on the team's best number two receiver and then everybody else gets to get double teams opposing for the opposing offense but it makes their defense significantly best Champ Bailey the dion sanders I mean the great quarters you can do that lock him up and then roll the other side I think you'll see that the other thing that was curious for me was that Tom Coughlin mentioned that Jaguars were better this year and going forward I think maybe either that was miss written or because they're not speak they're not better by getting a great player out of there so I miss quotes tim so expe- Joe Joe Listen you were you were spot on Jalen Ramsey never changed his stance which is what you asserted from the get-go and I would assume just finally came to a point where it just made no sense to have him on a roster when he wasn't going to win this transaction happened yesterday the first thing came to my mind is how often the people I was always talking to that this was going to work out for Jalen Ramsey like there was no fretting I didn't hear any fear and now that this is resolved itself in the way that it has it kind of plays into the tone that I've been hearing all along now I was talking to a source obviously familiar with Jalen Ramsey. They said that he's excited considering this a fresh start to be with the rams I think one of the questions that I had in talking to ram source last night was why not hold onto Marcus Peters to have opposite Jalen Ramsey in terms of making this movie now one thing that the ram source said to me is that it looked like it was clear that less need did not want to pay marcus. Peters beyond this year he's eligible unrestrained the free agency next year and it was better just to rip off quote unquote the band-aid now so then it becomes well who is opposite Jalen Ramsey for this game against the Atlanta Falcons they mentioned that two thousand seventeen when cal Roby Coleman I came to the teen that he did fill in for a keep to Leon outside first and second down and then on Nichols would have him excuse me on third down having a nickel or sometimes have troy hill on the outside and then have an RC in the middle so expect something like that or combination of that against the Falcons either way Julio Jones saw the rams problems in the short turn no because the opposite of the ball is atrocious right now and that's been there issue as far as being a front now what I will say is it does play into them getting better though like we can focus on golfing what this offense has been doing but with the guy like Jalen Ramsey not only does he hell Aaron Donald give him a maybe a half a second more to get to the quarterback he also may be able to steal a possession to for you and this ninety four was out there so air down gets another piece on the back end that can help him hold off quarterbacks for a second for him to get there and that's that's really all I can think about so maybe you

A.J. Green's injury on 'subpar' Bengals practice field will cost wide receiver up to two months
"Speaking of injuries unfortunately an M._r._i.. Has revealed that Cincinnati Bengals Wide Receiver A._J.. Green has torn ligaments in his left. Ankle is according affording to Schefter here. They are likely to sideline green six to eight weeks up really not a good situation and teammate Tyler Boyd questioned the turf. The team was practicing on when green was injured. It was terrible. I couldn't run any routes out there. I'm falling all over the ground man it was it was bad. It was rocks pebbles out there man it was somewhere we should have been just feel like the turf was old. You know it just wasn't we didn't get good traction in and out of her breaks. You know a lot of guys not just me was on the ground but I mean who wasn't up there that long but there's gotTa make a word man. We gotta get it well. The turf was that welcome stadium at the University of Dayton where the bengals are practicing coach you buy this well. I haven't seen the video really in this instance probably not but I will say that you know feel. Surfaces are very very important for player safety. You know whether it's a grass field you know what is the old school latch with Pittsburgh steelers. We practice on hard old school astroturf every day for five years so no you got to look at it but in that instance I think it was a matter of the kind of rolling up on the back of his ankle and that was what I saw caused that particular injury about sure it was the field service problem here in addition to the injury of course which is is paramount is the optics of this and when you have a player who says this sort of perception is reality and then then it's out there and you got players. You might believe this is the case whether the optics to this are awful and this time of year teams are trying to realize their fan N._B._C.'s. I've been a part of that for a number of years. Every team has an operations department and kind of like the offensive line. You'd never talk about the operations department until there's a problem and part of their responsibility is to advance where hotels are safety of the fields whether or not the field deal with safer not now the perception is that it was a problem now e._j.. Green fairness may have gotten hurt it was on their practice field but they're players now think that was a factor and they're at the University of Dayton given rookie head coach. He's trying to establish himself itself and now he has a problem in the locker room because these players are questioning what the organization did and that Operation Staff that you're referring to my signed off on the practices being here the League went to them. They sent a site survey team to inspect the field and that site survey survey team for the Bengals said this field is okay to practicing and maybe they thought it's one practice we can get through now. You've got a situation where you see A._J.. Green get hurt on this play and we can take another look at it right here where he goes up for the past the D._v. lands on his ankle. He's on the turf tears ligaments in his ankle. He's going to be sixty weeks. Think about how much is at stake your now. You have a first year head coach Zack Taylor who's trying to come in and implemented program. They've already lost their first round draft. Pick joyner Williams to a season ending injury. Now you lose your left tackle. You lose your number one wide receiver. They are at a loss there and A._J.. Green himself is going into the last year of his contract so at a time when we're talking about new deals for Michael Thomas in Amari Cooper Julio Jones guess who else was on that list of A._J.. Green so what happens now to his value as argument now that he is going to be out for some period of time and organization standpoint. That's a really difficult position because A._J.. Degrees could say hey. I've done all the right things. I was out there practicing at the university because you wanted me to and now that's going to hurt me and take money out of my own pocket. It could really cause a situation to go awry very quickly and again even if the operations team went through all the protocols the the perception is that this feel wasn't safe and now they have a problem with one of their best players. Yeah I think that team without J. Green if you look at their record versus with huge and so he's a big part of their team. He's going to be missed. This is that there's a fair amount of injury here to start. You know this is not the way not the way you want to get off the ground. No team does last last year he missed time with a toe injury and when he was out of there the offense did not operate the same toddler boys production fell off and everybody thinks talent boy. We'll just emerge as the number one guy and he's a really good wide receiver but the fact that matters A._G.. Green when he's out there makes tyler. Holler bought a better received. John Ross still has not stepped up as the first round draft pick that he was. He says he's ready to do that. Will they need him to do that. They've got some other players Alex Berenson some good young receivers but A._J.. Green is on a level with Julio Jones. He's is that kind of talent and when you Jack Taylor coming into his offense it's hard to get by without somebody that good.

Zeke Update
"Be N._F._l.. Teams are in training camp but that doesn't mean every player is we've got hold doubts in key spots Saints Michael Thomas Chargers Melvin Gordon who else Yana can gakugei Jacksonville Trent Williams in Washington and of course Ezekiel Elliott in Dallas the big one big name that everyone's watching out there in oxnard California all guys that <hes> are heading into either the final year of their deal or wants some sort of adjustment on their contract before camp or the season starts so we gotta go through all these the person who helps us make sense of all this stuff is our own Adam schefter so Adam Una make this pretty simple. I will give you a name and you tell us the latest on that player. Start with Ezekiel Elliott of of the cowboys will Zeke Elliott has not shown up in Oxnard California side of the Dallas Cowboys training camp and they're going through physical today. They are basically supposed to be attending a team meeting and there's no sign of Zeke right now which tells you soup that it looks like at the very least Zeke Watch is underway and it certainly feels like this is going to be a hold out while the two sides tried to see if they can come up with a new deal for Zeke Elliott but no signs of him California this yet and no signs as of November by the chargers camp right now then this one is going to go on for a while the two sides basically have their own stances. There have differing pains. Nobody Gordon's value. I don't see this getting south anytime this summer I I think this one looks like it has a real chance to go into the regular season. It's time for Austin Ecuador and Justin Jackson and no Michael Thomas in New Orleans still you take the reading receiver off that team. The saints have offered to make them the highest a wide receiver receiver in football. It sounds like he wants to get to a very high threshold north of twenty million dollars a year. We'll see what they can get there where the saints a willing to budge but Michael Thomas wants to become not just a highest eight wide receiver in football but the highest paid wide receiver football by a long shot right now while we wait for Julio Jones deal to potentially come in later this summer Adam sit tight we we'll come back to you as as needed. We're going to go back and talk about Ezekiel Elliott though how important is even to the cowboys he's led the N._F._l.. Rushing yards per game in each of his first three seasons the only other players to do that in the ninety nine year history of the N._F._l.. or Jim Brown and Earl Campbell perhaps you've heard of them. Both of those guys are in the hall of fame name safe to say that few running backs have ever had a better start to their careers then has Ezekiel Elliott

Which college produces the best NFL talent?
"A special edition of N._F._l.. Live on deck today at the N._F._l.. Celebrates one hundred season just six weeks away however we are just five weeks away in college. Football Opens It one hundred fiftieth the anniversary so today welcome N._F._l.. You were combining the two worlds to answer age-old question what college produces the best n._F._l.. Talent however I'm Wendy net sand Hutus here you know what's better to be on this panel our expert notice icy expert telling me when Lewis Minute of her panter on the list not on the House for back the quarterback guru he and his brother in a lot of N._F._l.. Games James A lot and Ryan Clark. You see the L. L._S._U.. They are ills college football. L. Is Jonathan Vilma bike. He will join US shortly. He happened to win a National Championship and Oh by the way a super bowl as well coming up on N._F._l.. Live will break down position by position which college produces the best quarterback Oklahoma has the number one overall pick the last two years we have the top ten plays all the N._F._l.. Superstars when they were in college and answering big question which school produces the best all time N._F._l.. Talent we had to ask the players themselves to kick things off. We're the first pick quarterback Oklahoma Viva say Oklahoma Alabama Clemson because proven it is one atop factory the Ohio state highest in Alabama. 'cause I never lost beat out. You really can't understand it into your inside. Sadness programming is all about the you for N._F._l.. Because of Georgia in every aspect but I think L._S._U.. CRESA environment of gray competition and guys is trying to feed off of IT University of Pittsburgh. You Got Dorset. Dan Marina you got Larry. Fitzgerald was not a me show. It's about having everybody involved in working for the Sandal clumps in would cushman he's been doing. He's making people believe everything is possible for House is the best our stop it. Stop stuff well. Let's start shall we with the most players from each college currently in the N._F._l.. Alabama leads the way with V with sixty five players players followed by Ohio state in second place with fifty eight so we're going to debate these schools I in terms of who is best at producing N._F._l.. Challenge here's a tale of the tape on Alabama at Ohio state success since the two thousand draft folks tools I have had thirty one first round picks the most of any school while the Buckeyes have thirteen more total picks in the last twenty drafts but Bama's players have been slightly more successful in the league producing three more pro bowlers than Ohio St Louis Rick. Let's start with with the crimson tide. They're starting eleven if you will offense and defense current N._F._l.. Talent there's any question that these are both very impressive lineups that if Alabama can roll these teams out there right now now. I think they'd win a few games without a doubt. If you look at the offense aside outside of the ball the first thing that jumps out of these starting eleven are the two wide receivers look Julio. Jones is one of the finest athletes in the N._F._l.. For guardless of position he's in the news right now because he's about to get a new contract extension and he's really one of the he's one of the transcendent players at the position that this game the scene Amari Cooper the same way. When Amari came out of college? I remember doing his tape in thinking point honestly as far as catching one pet and run wide receiver. I hadn't seen one as good as him as him. In a long long time on the defensive side look they have fine players throughout the eleven here really that when you get to the secondary and you guys like Eddie Jackson Landon Collins I mean these guys are disband tastic players on the front dont`a hightower our multiple time superbowl winner. These are great great players right here. Make our way to Columbus shower of the to Ohio state you go to the offense side of the football. Look the first thing that jumps out without a doubt as Ezekiel Elliott because if he's not the best running back in the N._F._l.. He would be considered a top three running back in the N._F._l.. Wide Receiver Michael Thomas Really someone who was unheralded coming out of college. He's a tremendous tremendous. Pro will probably be the highest paid wide receiver in the N._F._l.. In short time then move over to the defensive side of the ball this this is where really this football team really kind of jumps off the board starting up Front Joey Bosa Cam Hayward those are two of the best defense alignment in the N._F._l.. Right now and then when you look down there at the Secondary Malcolm Dyson Dinkins Denzel Ward Marshon Lattimore doesn't let's get much better than that. All right Jonathan Vilma made his way again surly qualified to weigh in on this discussion. Look I mean there's a shortage of talent with either of these squads. It's almost ridiculous factory and a lot of ways both of these institutions but let the debate again a Ryan Clark. You can't pick L._S._U.. Just yet but when you look at this group what stands out L._S._U.'s better than both of these things we're gonNA get to that. We're supposed to be talking outlets. Let's be honest. There's amazing players. Neither one of them have a quarterback right before proven yet though little I mean why don't we always have to see something first before we can get you well Ray Richardson running back right you saw God compare that with you why time gentlemen we're GonNa play Nice Got Ninety minutes ago. You're the Glenn Difference from every other position that we're looking at okay fair enough now back to you Louis. It is a production results oriented industry. Is it not so it is fair to say seeing something. Does one believe they'll be success won't sure but I mean we're we'll see this is kind of like a combination of what they have done in college. What some of these guys have done in the pros in some of it's a little bit of projecting about what they're gonNA continue to do in the pros? That's how I'm going to expand it to that all right so at quarterback quarterback Dwayne Haskins I believe right now. There's no comparison as far as I don't care what A._J.. McCarron did it Alabama cows tape. Those Wayne has close exact Haskins is going to be a fine football player. What's going to happen to him? Really is going to be more predicated on what Washington redskins overall due to him then what he does to himself. I firmly believe that as far as these rousers overall look the wide receiver position Julio Jones Amari Cooper. Julio Jones's the standard if you go and look N._F._l.. For an offices and look in their scouting books books every team has a standard at every position that they put for scouts the suit for as far as whenever when their scouting people polio is going to be on that list for for many many teams he's about as good as it gets so skill positions at Alabama are awesome. The defensive players at Ohio State is what stands out for me as far as their front seven is concerned particularly their defensive line and their secondary Denzel Award Marshon Lattimore. You tell me a team that wouldn't take those two young men right now and startled. Let me ask you a specific question since you spend some time as an analyst watching these players at the collegiate level if you had to choose either of this group Alabama Ohio state who's players really got better or who took a bigger step forward than you anticipated when they got to the N._F._l.. Out To you to dance your last part no neither standout. They're pretty equal because watching these guys watching Jonathan Allen he played okay well Dante. I'll tell you knew who is going to be tremendous player defensive player C._J.. Moseley's same thing and then you go to the other side and you look at Joey Bosa Nick Bosa Darren like Malcolm Jenkins. I play with Malcolm Jenkins in in New Orleans knew he was going to be a study. He's Philistine but what is surprising how fast or House they defense is. I did not realize how fast defensive you think big ten you didn't big Brawley guys not so fast but these guys can move joey. Bosa also can move nick volks in Darren League. We know the Burner Malcolm J. Denzel War March. I mean that is a very very talented athletic fast fast defense. I thought I was going to jump in your rookie. I think that's a great question Wendy about as far as what teams teams have players that have gotten better pros. You look at Ohio state this look at their offense. In particular Michael. Thomas was a good wide receiver to hire Stayton. He's fantastic now. He's GonNa be highest paid wide receiver in the N._F._l.. Andrew Norwell most people wouldn't even know Andrew Norwell well what from Andrew Doorbell he right now just judge Moore Norwell can't open open some N._F._l.. Spectacular and even on the defensive side of the ball. I didn't think Marshon lattimore. I've liked Marshon Lattimore at Ohio state. I didn't love Marcet. He has taken his game to another level as well in the really own Alabama side you know how I feel about Alabama I feel nick and what he does and how he builds his program but really focus on their offense align that was just look okay and think about that question. Wendy Wendy asked how many players have gotten better how many have continued to improve Andre Smith may have his best days at Alabama. Dame's carpenter has really been good pro Brian Kelly the jury still out he could be a he's a good player. He's GonNa play already in Indianapolis D._J.. fluker was he ever ever really that guy that dominant guy no. He hasn't been Cam Robinson. Have you seen story so it's interesting because they're preventing people have been many people who've hit Alabama and said they get the best out of their players at Alabama. Maybe it's good discussion legal where people go by what teams there drafted so we look at Michael Thomas he falls into a place where he needs an accurate passer and he's one of the most accurate passers all the time also about the place you land in ashore and how they develop you ask Josh Rosen he absolutely he knows that all too well. I ten Hasselbeck. The whole point of this is to pick one of our producers here a little bit we talked. I'm going Alabama mainly change quarterbacks. Yeah I think looks great point about the offensive line at Alabama because so many of them when you look at them just in terms of body type you're like Oh my God look at those guys body type wise but like I don't know that some of those guys have come in and be like Oh and they got a whole lot better. We're obviously splitting hairs here on this ongoing Alabama Lewis Sorry Nick. Oh from a hustle change your mind or did you stick the way said one because I don't care if between Haskins hasn't played. I think he's I think he's in the saints. Stratosphere is A._J.. McCarron so I like that I liked it their offense of line one of the things that talked about how they develop those guys on the defense aside but they're fun four plus their secondary this going with them Ryan Clark you have to pick one while I was brought here for one reason in one reason only when the Knicks because everyone knew it my answers it would be and what Tim Hasselbeck has proven is. You don't need a quarterback. That's really he's GonNa be Ohio state in Alabama that don't have quarterbacks guess what we don't need a quarterback back and by the way you don't want our first off was good enough for Bill Belichick your boy to draft him as Tom Brady's heir-apparent draft. We thought they they went to L._S._U.. Because this guy has what they decided to we throwing the ball all around the field Andrew Whitworth he's played a thousand years. There's a Guy Jerry go look at the Neil hundred may has like negative two percent body fat Michael Broncos out. There aren't key. We gotta wait on them but it's are are you at the back of position. That's all we got mad. I gotTa get here all even have to work conviction when you spoke scissors. I'm sorry I just so tim. I love your twenty. Two question your toughness Whoa West I've seen because as you know what fair enough he's at Alabama alum landon dare you wait into the circus that we've created. But what do you have to say about this. Whole debate ain't Ryan got some good good good stuff going on say? I wouldn't question his toughness at all. I don't know why you questioned Ryan toughness. I saw him not got a lot of Alabama's always number one no matter Corolla tyrod. Let me ask you a serious question. You know obviously nick. Sabin is a hall of Famer one of the best ever coach this game but specifically what does he do that has allowed such historic success at the university. Steve Alabama <hes> as a coach he speaks for as a coach. He represents his players as players coach. I would say he makes all this coach. All the players are on the him as a player as a father <hes> <hes> and as a as many tried to teach us they'd be a man and a great play all at one time you know so he does it all leading. Can you please tell the people why you are now better that you have trusted your career training with the guy from L._S._U.. Hey right you agreed trying to grow been gone on gone for years
