"Look look tennessee is not the they have a good season. They're giving up about what the fifty second overall draft pick right. They'll do that absolutely to get a few good years out of julio jones. They'll they'll they'll clearly do that and even the back to my first answer. I'm not arguing. The falcons shouldn't have dealt julio jones. They look in the mirror and they say we're four and twelve keeping. Julio jones is not going to get just adding kyle pits alone knowing warren salary. Cap trouble to on the defensive side. That's not. That's not going to bridge the gap between seven or eight extra winds to get us where we need to go. It's i'm sure there's a there's a great lament because if you and i had been leaving just in shock that patriots superbowl and i said to you. Not only will. They not get back super bowl. They won't make an they won't make an nfc title game again. With how shocking. The loss was after being up. Twenty eight three and losing in overtime to the pats. We actually might have believe it. But i'm not sure. I thought the wheels would come right off. Three under five hundred seasons in a row with matt ryan quarterback that should end you. Julio jones and a good running game that shouldn't be happening lead to the demise of dan quinn. Obviously with no one five start. So i can't tell with the falcons. I can't tell if they're going to bottom out a can't tell almost that's the goal but like i. I wouldn't have kept jones. I just would have held out for for more. If you've got closer to july. You great shout that the pick his gonna be at realistically unless something extraordinary. Abbas to tennessee season is going to be in the lower reaches. The deep awards are the second short. Incidentally that must be the hangover. Of all the falcons right. It was great brady. Hang overruled time. You know it might have happened. Even it hasn't happened during covid. Because that's the last thing i want to do is Is doubly flat. And i know they say alcohol. Consumption has gone up. You see me not. I'm a social drinker. I make that really tough call to go from two to three. And that's the line and an early morning radio right breakfast radio you realize when you do breakfast radio and you realize when you have little kids that last thing you want. You don't even wanna a mild headache. Let alone a massive pouting slave labor on your brain so It hasn't tended to happen too much as an adult. I know i know my limits. If only i knew my limits with all other forms of consumption heating having a bet once in a while downloading music but drinking is Very much that said. Like i said if if i was coming over for euro two thousand twenty different story absolutely be flowing. It's been a long fifteen months. We'd hadn't had backed barons court. The greg queens weeks ago. I don't care what. I go a just a couple of other bits on on earlier. We'll move on just some numbers. Espn stats and information. Hey i'm a company man. This dropped alley opportunities. Doug this one out actually appropes. Ali salute you for this over. The past ten seasons radio leads the nfl with fifty eight games of one hundred years more receiving the titans as a team the entire receiving core as a team of fifty in that same timespan just to put that into context in terms of the impact. That julio is hiding look he's clearly generation he one of the great receivers and could conceivably if he kicks on now this latter phase of his career. Because that's where he's at is thirty two your research got how do you think he has left providing them strings hold up. What are we looking at here at a two three years that started receiver he is and then that's probably all she wrote a minute. You get exceptions. To the rule larry fitzgerald being the most notable. But this this is pretty much. What looking at thirty thirty four thirty five. And then he'll hang them up. Yeah he's got three more years under contract for the titans. So i find that really intriguing and obviously with the non-guaranteed of the majority of contracts. You can move off a player. There ended up being dead cap. Hit as long as the titans to compete And he and ryan tannehill. Who you mentioned are kind of going to are of age together. Tannehill is only a year older than julio jones. So yeah i you know. I gotta think he wants to make the most of his three years as a contract for julio jones at age thirty five. Maybe there's a one year deal but every you know they're not the wide receivers don't age quite like running backs we know that you you'd better get that money while you still can and i never knock holdouts and i especially don't not because it's it's not a if it was a guaranteed contract and i'd say look you're you're you know you're getting paid and they oh you this money and you've got to fulfil like in the nba or nhl. I sock your major league baseball. You're getting paid. you should show up. Non guaranteed contracts are very different story for me especially running back. So we've seen the chris johnson's right and the and the maurice jones drew's give it a try and we saw famously with emmett smith in nineteen ninety-three when the cowboys were defending super bowl champs. They went own to the monday after that. Second game. jerry. Jones has the check for emmett smith. Like that's how it works. So i think julio's got at least a few years left in the tank. I look he has to you. Lay that out there. He has to bounce back because what we haven't seen is an unproductive julio jones when he's healthy and plays a full season that's a big big difference if the productivity was starting to wane most most yards in the league in two thousand eighteen and he only had two hundred eighty yards less than that missing a game no less in two thousand and nine thousand nine so i want to write off twenty twenty but at the same time i also. He's aware he'd be..

ryan tannehill chris johnson maurice jones julio jones Tannehill dan quinn emmett smith Julio jones two thousand monday seven fifteen months fifty eight games jones Second game one hundred years Three one year Jones three years

"To the show on. Espn good to have you with us. Gang good to be back and delighted to welcome one about all time. Faves one of the all pro lineup on the show. The brilliant greg brady all the way in toronto back to chin wag the latest stories from a big leagues going to dive into some of your questions from the mail bag as well. Thanks very much indeed for those. Let's get straight to it and welcome mr great brady greg brady. It is always a pleasure to see you in person. You and i've been working a fair bit together over the last couple of months. We were just musing as we are about to start recording the show. How utterly secret by face are you on a a scale of one to ten not terribly not terribly and And i wish i was seeing him person. I had tickets for five-year-old matches my uk based friends. Were quite jealous. They got shut out of the ballot. As you call it. We'd call it a lottery. you call about. that's okay. We get some boards wrong over here to trend in all of those tickets. Five for five like a baseball player. Having a great day is at the leadoff spot five five. They all get cancelled. They all get refunded so knowing on croatia no no holland austria amsterdam which was supposed be next thursday's on any of the games no disappointingly although i am going to be watching it religiously with my two boys of course who having had successful season at west ham. I've had told them to drink that in. Because that's gonna you never know what happens again. That's what i'm hoping will shine on england in the maybe we'll have a similar similarly. What you're saying that you know. The world cup was a successful turn. So maybe we can. I think there's i think this is. Nobody wants to picking when to win. But i think there's three teams that can win and this will all You know somebody'll will track down this podcast five weeks from now and go. Wow you really do you. Even watch the sport. It's it's france it's belgium and it's england although i'm selling myself on portugal. I think this portugal team more talented. Bend two thousand sixteen teams that. They're really believe that there was no bruno. Fernandez there's no ruben diaz the rinaldo still rinaldo. I think thinking about how bad they were also in the in the group. Stage three draws. They gave up four goals. This team is a powerhouse. But i think we're we're hesitant to pick them because we're like. Wow they won last time. So who does it twice the that team yet. I definitely everyone's raving on saturday. So about the the francie on paper but how often is the best team on paper get done. Hey not just in football and the nfl. Quite frankly as well. North macedonia is worth going there. The we need to link the euro teams. This time round with nfl teams like stuff. You don't want to say north macedonia jets. You don't wanna do that. Because the jets have allowed infrastructure and plenty of opera. We don't want say the detroit. Lions are scotland. Think that would alienate. We were talking about the other night. Five aside Scotland england one. They'll activist who was already bust. One nil threat third minute goal scrappy set piece goal. England will create very little and could plow out of the tournament because of the scott. You had us. I let that then that would make them not the detroit lions because they'd a win an important game let alone a playoff game since nineteen ninety-one tell you a quick story. I'm covering first summer over there in euro ninety six. I'm covering queens club right. The hill artois barons court tube. Stop that's i know it well. And it's the semi final on the saturday and thomas moose actually the number one seed. He couldn't play well on grass. So i think he loses to stefan edberg. It was a very retro summer. Summer britpop but edberg. Becker played in the final in ninety six and they were both of older guys. They first met in the In the wimbledon final in nineteen eighty eight so there are older and and we hear a roar in the stands at center court at at sell. Artois we hear roar. Roar is is the save of the gary mcallister penalty miss after one. Ill england yes louis here that and you know what comes next about a minute later every year. A bigger roar. It's the gaza goal off. The foot volley off the foot. That makes it too so the tremendous memories of that and again. You can't look yeah you have no idea going on so it becomes whisper. It's a game a broken telephone. Are you sure you just had a penalty. Missed and gaza went right down the field of basically from midfield and scored and it's two new england. Yeah that happened greg. Brady i blink. I it feels like only yesterday. Yeah many ways. That was something that was. What is summer. That was good times and a lot to be getting into for us on this. Get you back on this show. By the way we think radio together. Great to have you back in the espn house. Let's start with what we're going to start with. Julio the big story of the last seven days no doubt about. It wasn't surprised that he was out of atlanta. Because hey drop that bomb on national television. A couple of weeks back with shannon's skip but we were speculating where the destination would be. Those seem to be a few a few logical and viable landing spots the titans. Get the job done. A twenty twenty two second round pick. They've got a fourth round twenty twenty three as well the flipping that for six round and the twenty-three draft and they're absorbing 'cause all of the dollars and cents to the tennessee titans so atlanta off the hook and that was what a lot of this deal was predicated on that they needed to balance the books but nevertheless the losing one of that all time greats greg brady and he's landing at a contenders spot. So the question is is julio strong enough at age thirty two with all of those miles on the clock take the titans to the next level. Yeah i think i know. There's football left there. Obviously and the titans obviously feel that way and if they hadn't stepped up in times like these not you always want to know what the second best offer was. Because i don't think we look and say. The falcons overpaid remember as well. The falcons own twitter account to go social media. It's not everything but it's something. Put out a report that that be priced to get. Julio jones out of atlanta falcons official twitter accounts not a fan blog or anything. The falcons official twitter account puts out a tweet that says reports are the price is a first round draft pick for the atlanta. That's like me saying the price for my Two thousand eighteen hundred santa fe in the driveway right now is one hundred thousand pounds like wanna get it you can. You can hope that somebody will pay it. And i love that car. It's it's you know it's still got a couple of color. What are we going to accept. How's it.

"There's russell gauge. So absolutely i see myself having a lot of shares russell gauge depending on where people are going to be taking him. How crazy against because the you know the trade is happened last week. Let this marinate for a couple months. We'll see how crazy people on raw muscle gauge. But i'm gonna like him. Taj sharp right now. I think he's number three for atlanta. Knew you were going to butcher. That guy that guy's last name we'll do. Those top taught my head. I mean give me give me a little bit of credit zacchaeus zacchaeus. I'll do that. I'll talk to my head. So mean i don't know how many people do that better than your chris. Godwin take. i'll give you that right. I tell you that right now. I don't know where i was. I don't know. I don't know why i was just throwing chris guy goblins name okay so his name for awhile. I anticipate i anticipate the same round you know with the watterson to atlanta. So so again. We'll we'll address that as we get more clarity again. Two more players though real quick kyle pits. I think the easiest option here is gonna be something that i don't love which is going to be. Okay they don't have cow pits. Now i mean they don't have julio jones on cal wide receiver to you know. He's going to get x. Amount of targets and catches he. His stock draft capital is going to go up being tight. End as great as obviously is i just. I don't see myself wanting to believe and buy into all this cost. That's going to be baked into cow pisses under agree. Yeah i mean. I think like if anything this trait has to help him. It can't hurt him. But i'm not to get too crazy over it. I think that not having coolio i. Yeah i don't think he's gonna all of a sudden. Yeah i agree. Yep and then last not lease is derrick henry the impacts of of derrick. Henry yeah i mean just mean. Aj brass by selling a broken record. I i don't see much change in with derrick henry. I think this helps them for sure. Though i mean how can you not you have. Aj brown julio jones defenses cannot load up stop you they have to account for julio in aj brown. There's going to be more running room for derrick henry split hairs and say we'll julio takeaway touchdowns from dirk henry probably not. There's going to be running team. That's other identity. I liked derrick henry. I think that this trade definitely helps my i had. I think the three biggest winners of this trade are in this order. Calvin ridley ryan tannehill derrick henry. Okay now as you know. The top eight picks right now are running backs and you know. I don't really see that changing too much. And then there's there's three three other players one being kelsey. Which never taking italian i. I'm sorry i can't get there but an air jones smuggler. Laggers looking at this running back. I know i'm throwing this on you just out of the blue and i'm just looking at derrick henry. If you had a top pick we wanna running back right. We all want the running back. We all want the stud running back on trying to formulate question here while i'm looking at this list because because what i'm looking at like mcmahon do i really wanna take this person at three. I really wanted this person at for like which which of these running backs you feel. Confident like i don't really wanna take saquon top-five that doesn't excite me alvin kamara. I can't trust those touchdowns coming back without drew. Brees is jonathan taylor. All of a sudden a top five running back or can i just go. I said he's gonna make a big leap right and he was in my big leap category. But i mean men. That's a risky pick. I liked zeke. He's safe. He's boring he's up. He's up my alley. But at the same time. Zeke is ben really you know once they regressed but he's been really muffled in terms of his production with the passing a dallas. And then nick chubb cleveland. So i'm never going to go that route. That's a lot of the top end talent on the first round. How the that's how i'm seeing. How are you seeing. Dalvin cook lot. Yeah and bigler ship stuff. It's a flawed top ten especially. We're running back. This is a a mean siamak. He had a rough year last year. I don't you know it's not a slam. He's no longer a slam. Dunk doesn't feel like you know. Kalgoorlie's had ahead hot and cold years. Last year was red. Hot nodule breeze. I get it derrick. Henry seems like the ultimate safe. And i know i would say tennessee and has to go. But haven't julio just change you can't say adding julio one of the top five receivers in the last ten fifteen years doesn't change anything because it does i just how derrick henry not have a great season as long as he can stay healthy. It is the top ten more of a detriment to the top. Ten in terms of the weakness of the top ten. To derrick. henry is at number three overall or is it is there. Henry you know that deserving well and this is the thing with henry. I mean if you just go based on stats. And he's hundred percent worthy over two thousand yards last year rushing. Seventeen touchdowns the guys. The guy's a stud and he had no receiving touchdowns last year to the prior year. So it's not like he had this fluky weird year where he was catching know. Three or four passes. The guys is a walk the year before he had fifteen hundred yards. He's gonna have lot of rushing yards and a lot of rushing touchdowns and he's a running back as a workhorse. Three hundred and seventy eight carries levy. Nfl and carries last year. So yeah i think he deserves it. It's just with their kettering. There's always that you know there's other running backs that have a higher ceiling. Because he doesn't catch the ball. He only had one hundred and fourteen receiving yards nineteen catches last year. That's why you have saquon hanging around in the top five because because he's explosive and he has the ability to catch but You know give me the points you know. I think the derrick henry is is a fine pick in the top five. If you want to avoid the it's like if you wanna swing for the fences go for it but if you want to take the sure thing. Derrick henry is the ultimate sure thing in the top ten and i think in this case. Is you love to say so often. We're both things can be true right. And i think for myself. If i had to pick three and i had to pick today without giving much thought about this because it's too early. I think i would have to pick derrick henry for the things that you just mentioned in. Everyone knows how i felt about. Derrick henry in the past so i think that is a detriment to the top ten so i think both things are true. His his scoring has justified him being up there but the fact that he is people have always kind of been a little weary on him. Npr leagues demetriou. Npr not standard which is obviously a different conversation. So both things are true. It's going to be a very interesting top ten and be very curious to see what people which which of these people actually move. Anyone can actually creep into these running backs toppy but any other going. Be our tennessee episode. Follow up impacted. Julio jones we are the nfl talking heads and thanks for listening. Thanks so much for listening to this episode of the nfl. Talking heads fantasy football podcast. Show dry. Saying that. With your host jeff carrier and seth law. We'll catch you next time..

"Great time had by all Hands manner on sunday a little bit. Belated because the great lakisha jackson wesseling have been traveling but we celebrated links first birthday with a surprise party. Lakisha thought she was just coming over for a swim at the pad hair and instead it was a full on party for you know as it was tight. It was everybody podcast. Everybody connected to the show And we're obviously like a family brought closer by the tragedy with west and to have us all together and to celebrate lincoln lakisha. That was nice. That was a nice. Sunday still recovering. Let's not drop the ball on dan's new place which is sort of out of a californian dream. I mean i you know our kids about you greg. But our kids don't have a lot of pool time and you've got a wonderful pool and like they just had the time of the life. I'm looking over. Like jack. And harry are like wrestling in the pool like to wwf youngsters and like lucan colton sitting next to them. And and i just walker. I dislike watching. The six of them together was kind of cool like they're interacting all day. Long was a lot of. There is a lot of parental supervision. Going on as well but it was a fantastic now. They were in the all the time. You say you're feeling it today. Then walkers feeling it today. I think it was like four hours in the pool and the sun and i i don't know he hasn't been the same but he had a blast. Glad you mentioned harry and jack you know we we can get to some other issues if you want. But i did love this moment where we saw them. I mean they get after he. And you guys just you allow it because you trust them. And that's great because it seems like they take care of themselves but yeah there was a A sequence where one of them was choking the other and then they kissed on the lips like very shortly thereafter brotherhood. There was amazing sitting there. And we're talking and colleen was talking about something else and she goes are dan's boys kissing in the hot and they were like strangling each other and then it was very very sweet. They are. i grew up. I was a middle child. And i'm almost six years older than my my brother. Kevin danger So there wasn't that type of closeness. My brother and i are very close but it's different. When they're jack is my oldest is six and harrison is four so like they really are They're almost like the twins i know. Mark you know you know it's a similar thing with lucan colton via so yes the whole thing. Is you watch over them. You make sure it's not turning to a place where they're actually mad at each other because you don't want wrestling in water at any time When there's actual fearsome this but it's just like to bros. just going. Enjoying their company. And i i i give them a little bit of rope for that reason and say you know sooner than later link will be. We'll be jumping in that pool. Because i've never seen a a one year old with the decks taraji move dance moves. He's got ican run around. He's very like with a dozen Is very chill. So he's a very advanced. The one year old lincoln wesseling good appetite to eating like slices of pizza. You know gone. It was awesome. It was awesome. I am recovering but it was very nice to get everyone together and celebrate the wesleyan's. Okay let's hit the rest of the news before We say goodbye The green bay packers their own with it. It's been a rough off season for this organization and mark murphy. Who's the team president remember. There's no owner. it's a team that there's shareholders. And then he could actually even by a frame with a certificate that says you're a part owner of the team. That's a nice little thing. Mark would definitely do. It was the browns who would absolutely have another available. I feel like that was like a one a one time thing. Don't listen make valuable thing about this. Greg packers fans and i know many of them are willing to pay three hundred bucks or whatever it is. They're gonna keep offering it. It's gonna be wrong with. Yeah we worked with jim ryan. Nfl dot com rhino. Who was a packers fan. And he had a. He had a shareholders certificate in frame and that was less than that wasn't too many years ago. So i think it's it's a moneymaker so the celtics legitimately be a publicly traded company. Which is policy which is a part of the. That's that's not true anymore. That would be fun to just like have stock in your favorite team. So like within their structure team president. That's where it's at mark murphy. He has a monthly mailbag column on the packers website. Which yes is on my radar. I don't like when people try to roll into the business with relevant bags of break news. I don't like that because it's coming down my turf. I'm battling an internal war. When i when i asked for mailbag questions and everyone's like what do you think about mark thoughts about. Ufo's you think he's for real. Do you think he would follow the aliens of no asked me about the. Julio jones trait it's affecting my mail bag. I have a bit of a mailbag crisis going on right now even same level of breaking news where you to expound on that but murph over here in green bay nice on an island and cds there but you can kill marco which would you say adam is like where should the next. Nfl team move. If they wanna leave america it's like all right you guys anyway right murphy. He addressed the situation there. In rogers who obviously unhappy. Nobody knows if he's gonna turn up at o. T. as mandatory camp. I should say so. Here's what he said. In his mailbag. The situation we faced with aaron rodgers has divided our fan base. The emails and letters that i received reflect. This.

"The playoffs raiders in two thousand. Seventeen under jack. Del rio they finished. Twenty third in offense in the entire staff got fired. So i'm not saying that's on todd downing but it's gonna be you know look at you have to like the the one with my memory. I did not i can. I cannot remember what happened in that. I guess there well they would right before gruden was that. Yeah they were and they were a hot mess. Nobody remember yeah that is whole off season and then they were a complete hot mess. And it's like. I'm not saying that. Todd down and can't do it but it's interesting me that arthur smith of all people shipped. Julio jones back to the titans where arthur. There's an arthur smith size void calling plays so we'll we'll see how that works out. Which i'm looking at the raiders. It was more than that downing was like calling the plays. I guess yeah i just. I don't really remember like a lot of eight around the nfl discussion being like. Hey what's downing doing their receivers. That's not a lot of downing talk that kind of combusted. Sometimes you forget that jack. Del rio pro presided over. Twelve and four raiders team in to the as well i feel like someone associated with del rio or seventy eight points out that his record was better with the raiders. That you know gruden's was so this is not crazy the sandwich seven nine and six and ten and then it was i use and now the jon gruden air what else. What else would have seen all right. Anyway forget about that there. You go fans are excited. The titans long gone long gone. Well there was gonna be in primetime more. So i do like it for the average fan. I did look at this. The falcons were buried anyways. They weren't getting any any pop. This season with julio now if the titans are going to be in primetime which they are a little more okay. Now it's i. I like the fact we get the julio instead about your your quiet. Not so quiet. Doubts about ryan tannehill. true star. Does that as this now somewhat is that put on the buying. I have those. Yeah you have a lot of some quibble about should we actually have you. Tannahill is a guy that trust year after year. At this point we have this conversation a couple of weeks ago. this helps. I mean there are there are like the qb gurus like. Nate thais. we've had on. I would love to get a little more thoughts on this. That he thinks t kind of things tannehill is still like one read. Maybe i'll get my second or i'll freak out and it's very it's very same and independent but what it's worked incredibly well so that you can't argue with the results in this'll help keep. It is interesting that julio jones basically there were the whispers that he wants to go somewhere where. The quarterback is one of the established. Top five deep passers in the league. Hill is middle of the pack. He's not you know nightmare. And he's not the best. I mean he's really well to this reminds me i had erica. Cut a clip of aj brown. Who was showing the personality. I really hadn't seen before speaking this. Julio jones trade into existence weeks and weeks ago. Let's let's listen to. Aj a bit. The me i'm up and coming pro to not a big deal kind of a big deal but not really okay traffic in a way. Whatever you the goal of our era of our receivers help me help you come home. We'll come home texting. Come a- close friends that was cut off part of the thing because it didn't make sense out of context but it was him standing in front of also like our city in front of us. A fan made image of tannahill. And he starts like pumping up tannahill as the man in a leader that you don't even need to talk about derrick henry. Because he's got the meanest face ever and you add julio to that mix and they're the meanest like four pack in the league. I like the. I like a little. Aj brown puffing his chest out and making it happen. Yeah i like those some good personality for me all right. That's that let's hit. The wrestling news hit it. Rigging a florida..

"You're still going to now. Have this awesome talent here. And the dynamic duo that you could put up against anyway. But it's one of those things like in june. This is the perfect trade. And the fact that you didn't have to give a first rounder and i guess that report that that surfaced last weekend that they had a first round pick trade offer in hand of the falcons was all baloney But we'll see name eighty seven with saying they would give up a first and you have to send a second back which would be a bad job withholding that from the first report. But that's what i'm guessing probably an probably pay for part of julio jones's contra or it was just it was just since there's no gm app they just floated that out in the wind. Hoping another team would get sucked into to get into derby surrender first round pick but That's that's my only kind of hesitation like the yellow light. It's a great move. i love. They went for it. And are aggressive here tennessee But will he be that guy. Will we see them on the field. These to tighten wide receivers. I meant titan like great players. But they're also the titans yes So i hope we get seventeen games of that. That's where he just gotta cross fingers and hope for some luck. There is some concern that. Julio jones has rarely practiced in the last three years. That's a fair point. Like he has shown up on sundays. He's always questionable. he never practices. I don't know if these. Nfl teams are all concerned about. He's been quoted in the past. I'm not really an off season weights guy you know. I only lift weights when they make me to during the season he obviously is a well conditioned athlete that works out in his ready to play football at an extremely high level. Because that's all he's ever done But for him you know. He hasn't been like tom brady. Tb twelve. he's he basically says the only lifts weights When they make them. I don't know if there's some concern that. He's not going to age while i do think there has to be just inherently a human motivation to make this work. When you get to tennessee. Not that he wouldn't be motivated in atlanta but he's in a new spot. Aj brown push to get him there and he has to be thinking like i want to set up the next contract. There's a couple of more things. I do want to talk about with cooler. But one of them is the money and i think it's been misunderstood that like all you gotta take on julio's contract okay. You gotta have the room to take it on this year but everyone should understand. Julio jones has an incredibly good contract to take on now. That's i think going to be a problem down the line and is probably why were hesitant but for this year unless he's insisting on new money this year he's fifteen million dollars this year. That's it like you look around the league and who's making fifteen dollars million dollars or more at wide receiver. Julio jones's better than most of them like that's the type of money. Sammy watkins was making on the open market. Not much more than corey davis in nelson aguilar were making on the open market a little more and then in the two years after this one is making significantly less in. That contract looks amazing. So worst case. If you're the titans you either have to pay more money. When the cap goes up or it doesn't work out and he'll he's very easy to get rid of or he's possibly tradeable again and i. I don't think the money part of it if you can absorb them. This year was should be negative. That was part of the discussion. I didn't totally understand unless you're atlanta. Who had kind of box themselves in a corner. And and we're in a bad spot right. Because i think it's correct like what i guess. The premise of our show a lot of times. It's cap space. Let's not over worry about it. But atlanta was one of me. You can go against that. You know because. I think that claim as mr caps space. So it's just it's just not it's not like all teams atlanta absolute brings in a terrible situation and arthur smith who shares the same agent as julio jones. I would imagine new to some degree. What he was dealing with when he came into the situation. Or or maybe he didn't but it shouldn't have been a huge surprise that julio jones probably wasn't totally happy with the falcons that was a big part of the reason he moved but they were the one team that absolutely could not hold onto his contract. And that's mismanagement. And that's me. Says the falcons like look at. This should not have happened this way. I mean they get they get an f grade for me. If you need to move on from a player at some point they were in a tough spot this new regime but to get here and to have them inherent this to me is just a disastrous exit for julio jones and i don't think it would if it worked out in. Julio jones helped the titans gets the afc championship of the super bowl. It's not that. Different than the raiders trading it randy moss to the patriots for a fourth. Rounder it just. Isn't i mean to me. Like regret for the falcons. If you're a falcons fan is i. It's not like it didn't have to happen. Like i remember reading the article that they could have made some other ostra moves and way right there you go great ajar jarrett and just worked out an extension with him that spread out his cap. And then all of a sudden you you can survive in the new. Get this opportunity to have your own big to with calvin ridley and julio jones and of course the kyle pissed the dynamic rookie tight enter. But he can't stop talking about so they have that option. But like when steve wise you obviously you know. Covers the falcons so he he's plugged on this. It wasn't just about money. It just seemed like a marriage that had run. Its course and he alan. Julio wanted out so there were there. Were kind of layers to this. My other thought like again it's a slam dunk for the titans. But when i do when you look at his contract this is final year that deal the extension signed in two thousand and nineteen. Is that correct. Yep okay so this could be if you're a titans van in your pin yourself. You can't wait to see him on the field there is a. There's a chance this is a one year rental situation too like if if he 'cause it for a wide receiver that's going to be thirty three next february if he has a huge season. I guess you you're going to hold onto him if he's kinda in between. They're in a situation where they might think okay. This isn't somebody we want to do. More business with and you either move on or maybe tagging trade. I don't know. But i think there is to me. Like a coin. Flip chance that he's a one year tight. I think that's in player to it's possible. E even that possibility. I think is worth the risk. And the reasons why i think trading for these veterans is is a different way to team build that i think is still undervalued in today's nfl. Because the titans weren't the only team that could have done it. The ravens could have found a way the patriots could found a way. They reportedly just didn't wanna pay the money The forty niners could have found a way if they want. And i think there's this idea on draft day that these picks aren't that valuable teams are just give up whatever. Whatever for these picks when it's for a rookie but when it gets into the offseason they go crazy. I you know i tweeted about the jets. How they traded two-thirds to move up nine spots for allies. Avera tucker jets fans got it twisted that i was picking on them. He just was like the latest. In example i was thinking of using devante which the broncos traded a fourth to move up five spots in the second round or you could use the eagles who traded a third to the cowboys to move up two spots in the first round. You could go a million different examples..

Julio jones calvin ridley fifteen dollars tom brady five spots Julio seventeen games two spots second round one year corey davis arthur smith nine spots Sammy watkins two thousand first round last weekend jarrett today june

"With some heroes mark. Tessler greg rosenthal with the call right there. The voice of god for the podcast. This is a monday program about that. Why a little bit of news went down in the nfl news that involves a future hall of fame wide receiver. A dog feels like something. We should move up the clock on and have a conversation right yeah. The news broke on sunday late morning. California time and soon after the texts arrived like. I think we need to move the show up to monday and you know mondays. In general i think our. We've we've agreed we're a little bit. Maybe not high motor. But we're having to be this morning and there's there's a reason for it big news it's june and you know what i remember sons june's where like you're in a you're sort of you know in you could be sleeping in the back of your car. Nothing would happen for two weeks. I mean it is just been day after day of like. Nfl drama and stuff. So here we go one more. Like wives their significant others would be like. Hey where's my husband. But actually in mark's case simone a mark maybe he's in the car somewhere making up a hill come back eventually. Eventually he always comes home Yes Julio jones he's been moved in a trade and thinking about this or you know and that's going to be the focus of the show. We're gonna hit some news but we're gonna have a nice conversation about julio and it's like what are we here for if you're an nfl team. What are you here for. What what are you trying to win the game. Yes yes her. what are you trying to do. Like what's the point of the twenty four seven three sixty five enterprise at his running. You play to win the game. S her but it's not just when the game it's super bowl win the damn super bowl. Get to the big game win that one her. Maybe that's why the jets didn't win with you. Although i did enjoy the herm edwards experience balance And that's why i love with the tennessee. Titans did they acquire. Julio jones in exchange for a likely late second round pick they also get a fourth round. Pick a six round pick. Goes back to the titans as well. From the falcons. The falcons take all that money that they julio send it over to nashville. It's now the titans business. And business. Boom and the greg when you have julio jones and now. Aj brown together. That's nice and that's a team great. That says we're there where there there's not many afc teams that are in super bowl. Contention when you look at it on paper. The titans say we're right there. We're going for it. Gotta love the move. I do and i especially like it in this weekend. Afc south that we've talked about this offseason where every team you could make. The argument took a step back. And if the titans can go ahead and win this division. I think this move is a nice step toward doing it. Then you have a home game to start the playoffs and the titans of already shown us like what what can happen when you get there. Braves had a winning record every year. He's not about like taking a step back. He's nine and seven nine and seven eleven and five last year. I think their defense on paper looks pretty good like they haven't been able to transition to on the field but the moves. They made on paper on defense. This offseason made sense moves on. Offense didn't make any sense They looked worse on offense but suddenly you put julio jones in. Aj brown together. They are two of the top five receivers in each of the last two years in terms of yards per route run so basically two of the most efficient receivers in the entire. Nfl and suddenly josh reynolds who the titans were trying to talk us up as like. Hey we got him from the rams we kinda liked him As a start. Hey anthony or he's actually played pretty well when he's given the chance at site and they've each move down in the pecking order and then when when you're trying to sell josh reynolds to me as number three okay. I'm buying that when you're trying to sell berkshire matching up against some inside linebacker. Because you're so worried about aj brown. Julio jones on the outside okay. I can buy that and suddenly. I do like this team. Because i like. Julio so much and think he's still playing at such a high level as the favorite in the afc south. Yeah i mean in also arrow up on derrick henry because the way the offense looked twenty four hours ago before this trade. We were concerned. We mentioned like you said greg in your projected starters piece like they've lost corey davis jonnu smith who combined for about one hundred catches and fourteen hundred yards last year. Well i mean. That's what essentially. Julio jones in yardage has has averaged every year outside of last season and what team faced warrant that man around the around the horn right now really would would give you a couple. You'll get a little pointy. The whole statistics clink smooth leo. That was good. Yeah i mean. I think also we were probably concerned about derrick henry in terms of overall his workload. It's like when is that going to come back to haunt him at some point but the way that you attack the titans was just basically like go up against who go up against derrick henry and if you stopped him when he ran for like less than one hundred fifteen yards last year they were three and five so it looks like there was more of an an avenue to do that. Now but now you're gonna go stack the box against derrick. Henry what are you doing with. Aj brown what are you doing with. Julio jones i mean it just becomes an absolute nightmare. And i do. Love this about the titans. Some team sorta say we are this. And maybe you are. But it doesn't show up on paper. The titans basically say we want to be huge physical and destroy you. Julio jones's six three to twenty eight. Gb brown is six one to twenty-six derrick henry. Six three two hundred and forty seven and coming out you ten thousand miles an hour. I mean this is who the titans are and now suddenly we have no concerns about their offense it turns them into a legit super bowl threat in an in a division that i think they can probably have the record elevated. Because there's a bunch of trash bags in there. There is of course the concern. You need julio jones to stay healthy. He did not stay healthy last year. But greg pointed out last week. That was the first year. He's missed extensive action in years and years but he's also your older so it's not like a from a standpoint of will the titans definitely be better. I don't know if i'd go that far. Because you still lost. Arthur smith You still lost jonnu smith. Obviously corey davis is not close to julio jones when julio jones is on the field but to me that's what it comes down to because i think even if the offensive scheme may be isn't as explosive as it was or or the mind cooking it up isn't it smith's level..

"Appreciate it. And then i guess i guess producer. Steve here is like which steelers defensive lineman See like the cam heyward of this. Podcast he is the is the cam heyward. I don't know. I don't know all right. Let's not let's not do the steelers and bringer runner employees matchless. They're one of the things i like about you danny and there are many of them That you have more notes normally than you have thin questions that are asked to you. What is the number one thing in your notes right now that you wanna talk about that. I haven't asked about. There's two things. Where is julio jones in the greatest receivers of all time. Because i have been thinking about no seriously. He has the most receiving yards through ten years of every receivers jerry. Rice josh good piece of fivethirtyeight this week that basically said when julio's healthy he's still top five receiver. I'm not saying it's the radio wall street or anything like that. I'm not trying to say. Julio as a person seems a very little in common moss. I i'm not saying it's gonna break receiving record but it does feel important to say that. Just because julio jones has been a falcon and somewhat irrelevant from a team standpoint for a long time this is like an all time. Great being traded at the very tail end of his prime. I don't wanna just jump over that. I agree with that. I also think that when he talked about how irrelevant. they are from a football standpoint. I agree with that but every time something like this happens i just think about the how much of a what if the falcons super bowl was true right. Believable there've been. It's lens lid that you know. There have been people who've speculated that the patriots maybe move on from or try to start a succession plan for brady earlier if that doesn't happen I mean there's the butterfly effect of what happens if the patriots don't blow Twenty five point lead It's just really. It's really kind of incredible. And i feel bad for falcons fans 'cause this is like that scabby ripped off again. It's like you think discards issues been healed kyle pits and then you rip it off again because this is. This is the best player in team history and like that's fricking brutal. When you trade the best player in team history for a second rounder. And i know that the falcons should not be held to the coles. Because it's the same. Compensation mohamed sanu. Obviously they got a good deal from hamas. But that's always how we're going to remember it is who was traded for the same hall. They got from mohamed. Sanu because of money quite frankly that's never an excuse in football fans will never care. Well you know. We need cap space. We traded the best player in franchise history. And you know. Maybe he'll twelve hundred dollars for the titans this year. That's a calamity. Do you think this trade is overshadow much under ninety our job at bethpage black. It was to eighty nine. I will give you that. It was a downhill but it was to eighty nine. I just i feel like that wasn't dominate. The news cycle at the end And now fish trade really just kinda muddies the waters there will take away from the drive. Was that it was two seventy five. The last time we played. And then i said can you do it and then you did. I'm gaining bulk. As the summer goes along is lifting. Is it boxes i. I don't i don't talk about about my competitive advantage. So in one year's time we're doing the one year anniversary of his podcast. What is the take on straight. Julio and aj brown were really fun together and it was an absolute gift. We got to watch that happen. And the falcons probably wished that kyle pits had watched you know maybe maybe the falcons could have been like. Hey cal pits want to just watch him. Julio jones works for your the greatest professional of any receiver like you know we watch his work habits and chill for year. Maybe they should've let that happen. But instead hey we are the winners we got to watch. Aj brown allegiance play together and have a ton of fun. Here's here's here's my take on this. I think that julio poise eleven games he has two games are just awesome when we pull this up here. Sorry steve first of all the first preseason game. i'm sure who they will not play in it. As against the atlanta falcons which. I kind of like he plays at seattle. The falcon the titans. Play at seattle on september nineteenth. Another team. that wanted to. Yeah and i think that that is the game..

"And calling in from the garden. State parkway is number one atlanta falcons backer nor prince yati. Nor what's going on very upset. What are you. What are you looking at right now. Are you looking at the woodrow wilson. Travel plaza where pretty close to newark airport. I see a lot of various clamps with No billowing tubes your classic new jersey's scenery there were actually driving right past a structure. That's always on fire at the top of it. And i've done this. Is it the giants practice facility. Yeah ya and i'm always. There's always a part of me. That's like supposed to be on fire even though i've seen it so many times and i know that opinion is supposed to be on fire. Just like billowing smoke and fumes into this guy I'm very upset. The super bowl parade is cancelled. It very sad when a team that you root for the falcons technically but like i would. So let's tell that. So for the last two podcasts. You've said that the going coach of the year. And at the falcons. What was your prediction. We're gonna win the division or something. No that the falcons were On the list of teams that i couldn't justify putting on the can win the super bowl list. But i really wanted to. You wanted them to be on the list of teams. They can win the super bowl high praise. Yeah and remember that. My list was pretty short. I did not do the danielli nonsense of of they have the league when kind of been it again. I'd like to ten minutes on how new jersey decided to name travel plazas after the most famous residents like thomas. Edison and amilton vince. Lombardi which i think is one of the things whitman withing. It's one of the weirdest things but we can't do what we can't do it. We know we have to get to the julio trait. Here's the trade. Julio jones to the tennessee titans the falcons get a twenty twenty two second rounder. A twenty twenty three fourth-rounder the titans get Jones but he's six rounder in twenty twenty three This big I i you know. There's a lot of questions of through this. I'm you know it was funny. We did a. How many teams go in the super bowl podcast last week. And we've already had a handful of titans fans were angry about the mentioned on that list. say are the lowest now. It's a great question will start with the big picture question. Danny hi fits. Which is how much better does this. Make the titans. I mean the better for fantasy football. It's a way better team now. But i don't think that this makes them significantly like more of a playoff team or not like this is really one of the most fun offenses in the nfl. Now because you've got derrick henry. You've got julio jones you gotta that's amazing and that's a lot of fun. I don't know if it helps them win. Football games like i. I can't say. I look at the titans defense and i'm like oh yeah like i can name five defenders on that like. I don't think that the titans are going to be significantly better. They still have fundamental questions. How do they deal with their offense. Without arthur smith who went to atlanta. Ironically i think that alone the fact that arthur smith left tennessee goes to atlanta. Is like yeah. You know what we'll be able to do this that. Julio that's a little concerning to me i'm just not sold that. The titans are a better team over there. Certainly more fun team today so nora. You have to go because you're obviously in transit so give us the new expectations of the atlanta falcons post. Julio what did. I say they were like a ten win team in the seventeen mirror like a win. I don't think that it's insignificant right. Because i think at this point calvin released tougher tougher. Receiver to defend. He's on extension. Watch now extension..

"One of the things that always julio with that he's not a diva. You never talk unless you like being forced to speak to media after practice or something like that like he was the epitome of what you want wide receiver one and you know fans. I'm sure will remember like the sterling sharpe thing or or whatever shame shark thing at the end there but he really was like the perfect wide receiver player. He had all the talent in the world. But like didn't sit there and cause trouble or brag about it and sell for you know create problems in the media And that's what you want in. You know. I hope the best for me I don't see how this makes the falcon better immediately but you know in the long term. Maybe they can make some good selections with those picks got in return But i just wish some form and We'll see what happens. I think the falcons play the titans. The first week in preseason. We're going to see you. Know like julio out there doing stuff like funny but yeah yeah. I want to throw this out there because She's been on the podcast twice in a legitimately feel incredibly. Sorry for her. Because tori mcelhinney who Has been a fantastic podcast guests. Think she was on our last podcast as a matter of fact us and gina. You're on with him. We talked to her and she literally said she was going to go on vacation and like she has been a trigger for things happening with atlanta. Scorned she was there covering georgia tech. When paul johnson retired she star. Covering the falcons win. Dan quinn got fired. So she She predicted that something would happen. And of course. She got on the plane literally today. The julio jones trade happens so at this point. I'm fairly convinced that Tori has some sort of connection to the universe in triggering. Things for the falcons but I hope she gets to enjoy vacation. Jesus sailed sane of like. She just needs to stop because everything in atlantic keeps happening based off of for random vacations. Thanks to t mobile for supporting this episode and.

"What adjective us. Because this is a big one. We're going to talk about the fact that it has happened. What has been rumored really since march and improbably. The the wheels started turning much sooner than that Julio jones has been traded from the falcons We will get into the details of that trade but before we get into that. Wanna talk about. Who is joining me on this. Podcast first and foremost is my co host. The one and only forever matt online gena kelly gene. How you doing. I could be better to be quite honest. I did not expect to half the try to process all of my emotions about julio jones leaving today i just wanted a nice relaxing stomach and here we are. There's no relaxing falcon span. Not or somebody who works in. Nfl media you can never really count on relaxing weekend at anytime. And so i guess that the strive set home the certainly does Also joining us is one of the writers at the alchoholic non on how you doing. I'm doing pretty well. You know. I've been waiting for this trade for a while. I think we all have. I think it would have been a lot worse if this just came out of nowhere. You know we've had all the reports we've talked. We've talked nauseam about this. And i think i was to the point of art. Let's just get it over with already. Yeah exactly i in some ways. It's like pulling the Pulling the band aid off so all right. Let's get into it. Let me I cover what the actual deal is. Julio will be going to the titans So he will be paired up with. Aj brown. I think you could argue that. That will be one of the best wide receiver one wide. Receiver duos in the entire. Nfl after this trade goes through the falcons will get a twenty twenty two second rounder and a twenty twenty three fourth rounder from the titans The titans will get julio jones of course and a six rounder. Back from falcons in twenty twenty three. The most important thing here is the titans will take on all. Julio jones Salary this year the fifteen point three million. So this will. Net the falcons an additional fifteen million in cap space for this year. I this will allow them to sign their rookie class as well as having some additional cap space you know. The estimates are between seven and eight million to sign the falcons Rookie draft class. So they will carry over seven to eight million This year in if they can carry over all that that will obviously be important because twenty twenty. Two cap wise is not much. Better for the falcons So those are the specifics. We know now he is going to an afc team. We do not play them this year. During the regular season however titans are the first game of the preseason for the falcons so if there's any solace in this it's that julio was almost never in preseason games so we probably will not see him against the falcons. Yeah but almost never on the field on third down south getting getting. Oh yeah here we go with hot. Takes so gino through i. Now we know the details of this trade and honestly it seems like you know the day started with. Hey the is going to happen and within like a minute. We started getting the details. What are your thoughts on this trade. The value of it and you know from the standpoint of a fan who watches his team but maybe even from the standpoint of someone who looks at this you know more analytically. Yeah so i think that..

"That would most likely do it. Just because if you're jon gruden at some point i think you're like my really gonna let old may take leatherwood or are net or cleveland farrell. Next year at no. Let's get julio jones for this year and you can. Trade are first for next year. Let's have some fun. Just pitcher jon gruden just trading away all his pictures despite mike mayock this spike but trade a first when when they don't have a wide receiver i mean i think wide receiver is one of the weakest positions. It's they've got rugs. They've got john brown. They've got edwards. they've got renfro. I think there's a pretty strong argument. And i at least i would make that today. If you're lining up. John brown is your best receiver healthy. So that's you know you can upgrade. Their i was reading victoria Mellberg the athletic and he was talking about jose jones's looked great As has been really Has really good spring in when it's getting in which i don't That feels very like may fantasy to me like busy jones bounceback season. Yeah i'm with you. I mean there are different operation. They're kind of digging. While the rest of the league zagging they're doing condense formations and they're gonna play too tight ends in their full back. But they're pretty good offense their official. Julio might not put up huge numbers there but man he would he would change the equation. And i just feel like part of the factor and all this which gm is your which team is actually gonna be crazy enough gutsy enough if you wanna put a different way to say to do it. And i think the raiders do fit that i her hundred percent would you trade rugs. As part of a deal. I would because i was not overly excited about rugs i. I can't imagine that happening now. Maybe surprised. But i mean i i would be intrigued. I think rugby great fit for atlanta. If you can get something back for hulu downfield threat or like a yards after catch offense. I think that'd be really exciting. Greg's in second. I mean you're the bill. You're smart thrown in these veterans. Like the the the rookie deal veterans. We need to have more con- trades like that in the nfl. I love player player traits. Know important to me. It's happening more. I mean i. I remember the eagles patriots superbowl writing a whole thing about how those two teams had traded more than any teams in the league the last year the five years before that and it was like a different way of building teams. And i i really trades are up. You know it's not just Like the analytic dot piece like they're going up every year. Let's do it. Let's be more like the nba. Everyone criticizing howie roseman out here. You don't get it how you're smart player for player traits anybody. Yeah he's had his ups and down. I still believe mr louis on on on his on. His eagles tombstone howie roseman. He had his ups and downs. It's fair yes anywhere else in the afc west that interesting. i mean. The chargers are so thin at wide receiver. After keenan allen and mike williams they do have cap space. They're opening up the new stadium. Which i think is going to be tough to fill with chargers fans. I think it makes a lot of football sense. I'm if i'm the chargers i would want to. I would think that. I'm i'm ready to compete right now. I don't see why not. What would befall. Julio jones within his first week of arriving at the foul. Whichever facility don't do that don't do that to then. I also think they need to be like an offense i team. I know that you know they have a defensive coach in so they'll count on him. But the the. I think the personnels better on offense and you add giulio to it and they don't really have a third receiver right now you know it's there Realm grandpa josh palmer. But they don't really have one it kind of falls off a cliff after the chiefs are of sneaky like hey i could see them doing it team to just because they don't seem that afraid of trading their picks i miss when lake all philip rivers. Receivers get hurt and like some guy like like say say to to would come out of nowhere and have a two touchdown game and then disappeared for six weeks. I miss those days with the chargers. But i agree i mean i. I think the chargers justify it i think it. It's tough because i think you're moving on for mike williams after this. You're probably unless you're going to be out after this year. Which i don't think is it's plausible. They're both maybe coming up. You know closer to the end but especially on the last year of his contract and has been good but not probably second contract yes. It's weird like i think he's gonna get paid by somebody but i don't know if it'll be the charges don't it. What i'm really afraid of. And i'm like i'm not a chargers fan but i'm i'm a. I was a philip rivers fan and now justin herbert fan. So it's basically. I've become a charges because of that. My nightmare is that they're going to ruin. You know harbor like your waste. Herbert like they did rivers in forgetting. Julio that would prevent that. I think that's fair. I i would certainly be open to that. I mentioned the chiefs. I mean. I could see them making sense I don't know if the falcons would want mccoll hartman back as part of a deal But i mean look at this roster. I was reading with this for next week. Like if they lose. Tyree killer travis. Kelsey.

"How much julio will say. I want to be on a contender. Whether that matters a lot the jets would make plenty of sense to me too. I you know i. I don't see why it'd be a bad idea for them. Back into the packaging. One of those receivers may be denzil. Mims i don't know how much the falcons actually want them. Zone may be one of those receivers and maybe a two as opposed to a one because you figure their one might be pretty high next year for. Julio jones almost eighty million dollars in capital i really do think net for next year like having thirty or forty. Leftover is kind of a waste. You should try to spend closer to it. I could see them justifying that deal for sherwood with after what happened. Sam darnold where it was three years of. Oh i don't know if he's got the weapons and then kind of having to start over. Its act wilson. Because you never really got that. Answer with sam darnold. I think having julio jones they're kind of interest for your immediately they don't have a one they don't have a number one. They've got they've got a nice receiver group. Corey davis it's okay You know if if more pans out as a slack guy we'll see if crowder status. Yeah you could send crowder back. Although he's a lot of money. That doesn't make sense. But i i feel like they won't do. It doesn't seem like something they wanna do at this stage. But i would do if i was What about the afc north ravens. Bengals browns in steelers seems like the steelers. Don't really have the cap space to pull that off. What about the other. Three pete's just seen a anderson. Your former colleague said she thought that the ravens weren't interested the may like had it solve not sure about that the browns. This is where i get into the crazy. Barnwell trade that that he put some money. Espn plus which aren't like totally realistic. But are fun. like wouldn't it. Be fun to send obi james actively oh jones i mean i i know there's there's capping sphere but i tend to think the cap stafford land overstated that it's it's more about. Julio wani out more about a kind of it was time for divorce it sounds like there might even be personal stuff going on behind the scenes in like okay. The julio oj. Make it happen. If you're the falcons would you want that in return. I would i you know. I know they have a good receiver group But i i just think having four or five receivers is like the name of the game in the nfl right now in having a guy like j. Or julio at the top just makes the rest fit so much better like if you can't figure out how to use talent like that that that's on you. Can you think of a player who's had a career like opec or it was three years right. At the beginning of his career. He was an absolute like superstars. Maybe top three or four player at his position. And now it's been four years. He's kind of been laying either injured or okay like not great but not not a dramatic difference maker. No not off the top of my head. It's so weird i'm like. Rg three for one year You know but no not not like that where they start like a house of fire. I i still believe that i would trade for him like i think he should have value i. This is to be clear. I don't think this is remotely realistic. And i i don't necessarily think the browns would even want to do it. But i make an all of these ideas with my evaluation that julio jones looked awesome last year like he looked i. I wrote in my nope. I remember like i that he was still a top five receiver. When he was on the field was still top-five not even like top ten. Fifteen top virus averaged eleven point three yards per target last season. I mean some of that wasn't garbage time but he was still he. He was not the problem with that football team by any means. Let me ask you before we move on if you're the patriots. And he wanted to trade for odell beckham. but would you be willing to give up. I would give up the first. Wow i i'm into i saw. They gave up a second for most a new. So it's like jakobi. Meyers is worth a i in that like calculus but i I read that. Mike sando piece. I don't know if you saw in the athletic about Sort of looking at the value of late first round picks in making the argument that trading for veterans essentially like the rams and now the chiefs of done it somewhat To the orlando brown Like you can look at the value. Make sense there that less than half of those late first round picks even get their fifth year option picked up. Which means you're you're you're pretty much disappointment. I i think there's some do that. I appreciate that you are This was really a across the entire. Nfl spectrum and espn podcast with an nfl. That were guest. Or you've hyped up By name undisputed on f s one. And now mike sando or the colleague former colleague and friend. Mike does work on the athletics. Really across the entire. Nfl spectrum. here jesse to i just you know. Yeah we're striking business bill so you got to close ranks and put our arms around each other. We all might be working together soon. We are all we have this one one big global content farm coming up half see south. I think there's some interesting teams here. I've seen really everyone. "Well sure yes sure mexican place to start. Maybe they've got. They've got the cap space still by the way. Good job by them using their cap space this year because now everyone's got caps for next year if you look at over the cap for next year. Now that's going back up thirty something million. You can push the money around. He'd make a lot of sense. When i'm reading that nelson agholor just looks far and away better than any other receiver on the field at as on one hand it doesn't surprise me on the other hand. It probably means you need more wide receivers. That's a fair. A fair point to make and i mean i when it comes to the football fit here i don't think anything should preclude the patriots. I mean certainly. There is a need free receiver. I know they added nelson. I i know they added kendrick bourne. I know they had to myers. Now they have this too tight ends but like those people are. Julio jones you like none of those people are going to keep julio jones off the football field if you want to keep julio jones on your roster and i would say they're going to have a quarterback in mack jones is gonna contract over the next at least three years if not for years so the half the cap space to work with In the years to come they. I i guess the interesting part for me when it comes to the patriots is that they haven't really made a trade like this with one exception. You go back through history. Military check has traded for veterans. But usually it's either sending late round picks for guys Or trading for guys who were younger than julio jones thirty two or it's trading for guys who are taking a pay cut in randy moss could pay cut to three million dollars and that was a fourth round pick. I think in two thousand. Seven corey dillon. I think was too but he took a pay cut and he cut his pain half. I believe when he made that. Trade duane starks guys from the past to burn a world blurbs fifteen years ago duane starks. I believe also took a pay cut or how they pay. Restructure was traded for a pick at the very end of the third round. So i mean for julio jones you would figure this is going to be for a two at best. I dunno hayfield boat. The compensation would look like. I know it will be a one. I think more likely a second round. Pick and for a guy who i can't imagine. Julio jones is going to take a pay cut if anything given julio jones's history and i think this is not unfair given how good he's been he's been a guy who's wanted to negotiate new deals with two years i've thought his existing contract with elkins deal. He signed which is just starting now came with two years left on his existing deal so it wouldn't shock me. Julio jones plays well this year if he came to camp next year and wanted a new contract so that would be. I think difficult and maybe unprecedented for the patriots. But i don't know. Would you let that stand in the way of making a julio jones straight if you wearable check no and i think the fact that bill Seems to really be running the show more than ever without a lot of overhead from the front office is a factor. And i think he just sees his roster with clear is there. They don't have undrafted anyone in the last three years that they're gonna wanna give a second contract to so you got to spend that money somewhere. I think he you know. I think the idea that. Julio has put it out there that he's you know really close with cam and that he would like to play there. I think there's something to it that you know that he went on undisputed. I think was significant in everything that happened over. The last week was significant where it was. Take trying to take some control of the situation in making it clear like this deal's going to happen. There's there's no doubt it's going to happen. And he wanted to be part of putting that story out there where i think he was in. Maybe his camp was seen some of the stories last week. and thinking. like why are the falcons. the one starting to put this out there. I wa. i wanna get out. I will get out and it sounds like the patriots are once he liked to go to. And it sounds weird. Like the falcons are like trying to really do right by. julio jones. not that that should be that weird but that almost they they don't want this to be ugly publicly and that you know in a perfect world maybe they would trade him to a halfway decent team in ideally in the afc. There's patriots. yeah. I think doesn't make sense. And they might eat some of the money without despite some of the money to get better draft compensations for maybe the patriots could justify it that way. If the falcons eight five million dollars to get this deal done. I think i by the way i really do. Think you'll get to your colleague. dana rossini said that. There's one on the table. I do think. Next year's i are a lot different than asking for a first right before the draft. But i think a team that thinks they're to be decent would give it up. I mean if the rams can do it for brandin cooks and you know it just seemed it just seems like someone would give up a late. What they think will be a late. I do think it'd be a straight. I like a i for julio and a second or third just eight straight up i arm pick for julio jones. Yeah maybe you get a third or a fourth back that that's fair but I think yeah. I so otherwise in the afc east bills. Dolphins jets jets have the room. I don't know if like he..

Julio Jones to the Patriots: Smoke or Fire?

"About Julio Greg. Chris Simms comes out yesterday and listening cross. Sims has a checkered past when it comes to breaking news. But Simms comes out and says, Julio wants Tennessee, or New England. We've heard rumors about Julio. Wants a play with Cam. What are you hearing about Julio Jones? Well, the first thing as far as potential trade or where the Patriots are, what I've heard too. This point is that they are still sort of kicking the tires on it. I don't think they pursued it in any way. Really with the Falcons they might have had a conversation or two but really, I don't think it's gone very far. I think I might have heard what the initial asking price was, which was, you know, maybe a first-round pick, maybe a second round pick. I think that that too rich for the Patriots blood, plus, they probably want something done about Julio's money. Like the Americans paying half of the first year or something like that. So I don't think And when people also have to remember is that I think June 2nd is the is the is the date this year. We're basically the Falcons have to wait till after June 1st to trade or release Julio Jones because of the way the cap rules are that they get credit. Once it gets to June 2nd, then you could put half on Thursday or half on the following year. So that makes digesting some of those really large contracts. A lot more palatable for teens and the Falcons are just so screwed with their cap. They have to do that. So we are now what day is today, it's the 26th, so there's still time and deadlines spur action. I think right now a bunch of teams including the Patriots or just sort of looking at this and I'm kicking the tires and seeing what kind of deal can be there. So I don't think anything is imminent even though this is all people can talk about and oh the Patriots are the betting odds. Favorite to to DeLand Julio Jones

"I mean based on what we know right now i would as well there any coaches on this. I don't know if there's any coaches in washington that have had work with. Julio jones anybody from the atlanta staff. I don't think there is plenty of people in the atlanta staff that had to coach against him twice a year. Yes that's true. But i agree with you. I mean for a second fourth to have that. That guy i mean. Yeah i mean i i. I'm on board with that. But you know fans are funny. They they they like they like. They're like their team in a nice little package. You know with all the corners folded and stuff and they've gotten use to the receivers that washington is on the roster this year. The guy's drafted the guys. They signed free agency and their bought into those guys. And now you're going to tell these fans no no no. No we're we're gonna we're gonna tear apart and we're going to bring in somebody from the outside people like that. There really is like this This hesitance among a lot of fans and by the way i did a poll on this sat kevin sheehan. Dc twitter poll and basically. It's like sixty forty sixty percent. Say they wouldn't trade. A second and fourth for julio jones forty percents ace say yes you can vote on it By going to the poll on my twitter page at kevin sheehan dc You know a lot of people say that's too that's too much to give up for. Julio jones i mean the second and fourth were building it the right way. He keeps coming back to this. Were building it. The right way and locally. Julio jones is not aaron rodgers aaron rodgers makes them super bowl contender immediately. Matt stafford would have made them a legitimate Division favorite and one of the top five favorites four favorites in the nfc to get to the super bowl. Potentially julio jones may not do that but julio jones is great like he's not good like you. Put 'em opposite terry maclaurin with a great defense with decent backs with a quarterback. I mean the quarterback is an issue and i. I'm excited about him. Not everybody is But a guy that will throw the ball. Downfield will give his receivers a chance I don't know first of all if i were atlanta. I wouldn't trade him. They've cap issues. I get it once. They drafted kyle pits to me. They were all in and matt ryan for the immediate future. I'm keeping trello instant pudding natural. Owens i'm keeping excuse me julio jones And i'm putting him on the field. With calvin ridley who i think is very underrated. Kyle pits and i'm saying we can score thirty five points a game. We can certainly score north thirty a game And win a bunch of games next year but a second of worth i mean think about this team's recent past second rounders sue craven's darius geiss. I mean i don't know to me would be sort of a no brainer but to your point in. It's a good one it's like. Oh we just got curtis samuel. We just got out of the home freeze. We just drafted yami brown. And they're not costing us anything in. It's too much cap space. And it's too much trade compensation by the way it's like it's their their money and their draft picks. I don't have a problem with that. I mean t. I love how fans think about the cap and think about if you don't think that way you're not thinking the right way that's all it's all part of what makes up you know the roster the construction of the roster but a second fourth for julio jones like oh he's thirty two i mean what if he has three great years by the way you know timing this conversation about julio jones so i got some pushback clearly from some older listeners when i said he's obviously a top ten receiver he might be a top five receiver when all said and done and i had. I just threw that out there without any. The numbers are without about it. But i went back and looked at it. Like i think we've had this conversation before but of all the positions in football. There is one more than any other that when you're having an all time conversation there's no debate. Who the all. Time greatest receivers. It's jerry rice right. No one debates that nobody running back. Jim brown i know but you know that would be the other one after that. Tommy every other position is a debate every other what tom brady is is pretty much distancing himself in the courtroom. A lot of people would debate that. Nobody debates jerry rice. Does i would argue that. Jim brown is the more on debatable. Position look this is the wide receiver in terms of measuring. Greatness is such a warped practice because have more feel played miami dolphins team after he got traded there from the cleveland browns. That didn't throw the ball. Maybe fifteen times a game but anyone who played against paul. Warfield will tell you that he was probably the greatest receiver in history. Italy lance allworth. Same thing right. Yeah i mean. The numbers are to respond to lance all worth so many people have told me and i was great. Paul paul warfield. Is the one the name. That comes up when i talk to. People from that. Eight era talked to players from that era. And i saw paul warfield. And they're right. I mean you'd be hard pressed to find a receiver. Better in the history of football than paul warfield. But you know kids. They're gonna look like he got two heads and he doesn't even have as i probably doesn't have as many receptions in his career as i don't know picking up some redskins wash wide receiver alarconel albert connell Paul warfield on the list of cat you catches T.

Are the Kansas City Chiefs Going To Land Julio Jones?

"Let's talk. julio jones my friend. Because i mean look it's a long shot i'm going to say it oddsmakers think it's a long shot. The chiefs are thirty. Three to one odds to land. Julio jones in a trade which is way longer odds than many many other teams. So las vegas does not think. Julio jones is going to land in kansas city but julio jones is gonna land somewhere and it sounds like it's not in philadelphia this year. Where are you at all this. I'll say this vegas didn't think phil mickelson was going to win this as last major. Guess what a that happened. So i don't know where julio jones is gonna land. I do think. Kansas city actually makes sense. I'm surprised vegas hasn't bumped it up a little bit as based on the past knowledge of how aggressive brett. Vh is the fact that julio jones said he wants to play for a winner he wants to play for a contender. You sit basically said give me the hell out of atlanta. You know If you wanna play for winter you wanna play for a contender. You wanna play for a good quarterback now you kate. A city checks all those boxes. You have a hall of fame coach. Andy reid i would. I would think that those numbers would be higher. What are your thoughts on this. Well let me kick it back to you with this. Albert breer reported today that basically that would probably take second round. Pick to get julio jones. Now that's it like. I think it sounds good on paper. Yeah i think it sounds good on paper to julio jones. i'm probably in the conservative camp of. I think the chiefs are already more loaded than any other team out there. They've already gotten their the last two years. I don't care what the bills in the browns have done. The chiefs are gonna make mincemeat of them. Whatever they play so. I don't know that we need julio jones so so you know to me. I'd rather keep that second round pick

"Turning against the falcons organization saying you know how. Julio jones only the nineteenth highest paid wide receiver when he's the like arguably the best in the league will. That's a tremendous job by the organization. Know i understand that we're all out here and we want players to get everything that they're worth. I want everybody to make the money that they deserve and should earn. But it's all about cost benefits and the effectiveness of getting the value there and so for everybody kind of the public notion turn to say give. Julio what he's worth and that coupled with i think pressure from ownership maybe a little bit and camp kind of saying i wanna deal done now and those two kinds of training camp little weird situations whereas we're gonna show up 'cause you're not gonna show up is going to hold out. All of that stuff ended up i think. With the falcons kind of like overpaying him on this contract to make up for the value that they got when they first that extension. So i think we're in this place a little bit because of that. Exact notion of like we want him to be a falcon for life at hurts to see our favorite players. Go play for other teams. But you know what. Philip rivers just was a cult. This past season eight won a super bowl denver. Tom brady just wanted super bowl in tampa bay. Tom freaking brady. If he can leave. New england guys. Like i think it's organizationally smart to not just kind of keep somebody round because the fans have an affinity for him is go to go into the hall of fame as an atlanta falcons. That's already written in stone. So i don't know if we should be looking at this and yes it's gonna hurt but think of all the good times navy instead of just won't it. We go on. Julio jones to be playing for arizona so give them more money even though that means it's gonna necessarily hurt us down the so that's one thing to kind of keep in mind. The other is that we were just talking about the influx wide receiver talent. David damn good young wide receiver that they're about to have to pay next year. They did his fifth year option. The they're going to have to pay Calvin ridley similar. Julio jones money and you just can't the best teams in the league. Don't have guys on the roster at wide receiver being kind of like the two highest players that now is not a formula for success. So that's my second. Third thought is finally on grady. Jarrett i do think it's worth noting. And remembering the he did just signed a deal. Last year franchise tag him but then they gave him a four year deal. So he's only entering or you know he. He's kind of early on in this process of of this new. Actually it was twenty nineteen so two years ago. But i don't know if they would necessarily sit here and look at him as do we really want to add a ton more to this deal when he still kind of midway through his current contract so as they they look at twenty twenty one but they look at twenty twenty two and two thousand twenty three and two thousand twenty four and they stack all the boxes and they say okay. Here's the money that said here. Here's when this comes off the book all this and then they balance it. And so i just don't think with grady. Yes that is probably the other only option but how willing are they to pursue that option if it means locking themselves in and really how much money could they move. I think is the conversation there because are they able to kick it two years down. The road is great against say no. I'll give you some cap face this year but next year. You're going to go me everything you mean now and next year and then they're gonna be kinda fence over a barrel with with grady situation and so that that is where you know the more that you think about it you talk about it. Yes craze an option. But julio still remains probably the best option and exactly is the player that you're going to get the most back for outside of one of your young studs who's very cheap or matt ryan and i think it could just be as simple as that. Yeah and i think that this is where the team is at like they. They have few options and again. This is not a hammer on this too much but this falls back to the previous regime. And i think fans if you're going to get upset at anybody that you know they're having to look at these decisions. Get get upset last regime and the also but also i mean shit comes but that also comes with a grain of salt because the last regime is the one that bet on. Julio last regime is the one that thomas risked his job to come up and get julio jones so true it it's not ending necessarily the best way but also thank him for the good times and and criticize them for the bad times that is that's the nfl in the night show and then man and honestly obviously at the foul colic. We're gonna keep a keanae on where all of this heads because something is going to happen. That is a guarantee. Something's going to happen. Whether it's a restructure an extension a trade. Something is going to happen in the very near future and of course it will cover it at the And we will have A ton of articles on whatever that move is Whether it causes the weeping gnashing teeth or celebration than the streets will be there for will as we close out remind our listeners where they can find you what you have going on. Yeah so follow. Me at willow mcfadden. I was lucky enough to hop on twitter early. Grab that handle i. Am you know writing at fowler on. I'm sure i'll have some thoughts on.

Antonio Brown Re-Signing With Buccaneers on One-Year Deal

"Antonio brown is good. The case could be made over a six year period before he left pittsburgh he was the best receiver. Sense jerry. rice and the thing about receivers are randy. Moss might have this amazing year or two and his talent was you know. Maybe the best avenue randy moss. Another guy might have a year or two but these receivers tend to come and go fast. Now they stick around they might be like. Julio jones is he won the top three receivers. now he's not today but he certainly had times. Wise brown was very consistent very consistent and in just eight games. He had forty five catches as the number three option and what really stood out is his yards after catch or the best on the team so this is not a guy going out of bounds. This is a guy taken the ball and head up the field. I agree very productive. And if you think about it then that's awesome great. Why well obviously there's the author field questions but if you look at the time before the off the field were the questions. This was as productive receivers. We've seen since jerry rice and that's saying something that means maybe the second most productive six year period ever ever. Now he's hitting the wall when it comes to his age Four receivers typically again jerry. Rice was the exception to that even if he drops off a little bit a little bit. 'cause age antonio brown i believe will be at least as good if not better this year. Well how could he drop off and be better. The other circumstances remember he joined the team midseason right as much as he is a pro's pro in a way that in browns able to get acclimated and get integrated. He was paying much better coming into the playoffs now. He did get hurt but to me. His last three or four games were better than his first three or four which is a trend line. I think they continues with a more robust offseason into having the whole time with the team. So net net. I think browns more of a factor

"All right. Let's have fun here with. Kyle pits blank will select kyle pits right. I think it's the falcons. I mean friscos. Been talking about this for some time. He doesn't think that the falcons are gonna take a quarterback he thinks arthur blank is all in on on matt ryan for another year to have a new coach and the new general manager. And here's the thing like if you trade down four. And i suspect it'll be teams interested in trading up to four to get whether it's trae lance macaroni justin fields. If you're the falcons if you move down if you move down you're not getting cockpits. That's just the end the conversation because either the bengals. The dolphins entertainment five or six and presumably. You're not trading with those teams already have quarterbacks. So that's the math you're doing and if you're not getting likely to march as we saw a report on monday for peter king that maybe julio jones could be moved with which seems crazy what they need a cap space Could you turn down for. Cornerback if the falcons you could but again what gives you more value in terms of making that football team better. I think it's how pet. So if i'm the falcons and i'm not taking justin feels matteo's trae lands i'm sampling. Taking cup pits. Janssen the blank blank. We'll take pets. I think it's it's atlanta. But i also be surprised if the team traded up with the falcons maybe even take pits like ryan saying you know the train up to the quarterback but you know teams fall in love your dallas. You know thousand the four but you know if a team really loves him that much and it's hard not to love that much than you could see. Maybe a team being overly aggressive. I think it was on On the nfl network this morning on good morning football there was a segment that they do with the giants traded up. You know. I don't know who is doing the job. Esau just a screen grab of it on twitter but the giants gave their first or second ebony ingram and something else to move up to four to get pits and it was you know something that on paper make some sense but you know. Obviously something is not likely to happen but still i would say it's four is where he goes. But the falcons do make some sense especially they decided we want from me jonesing. Another playmaker

"julio jones" Discussed on The Falcoholic

"We're talking about julio jones. His future with the atlanta falcons as he goes into last few years of what has been in arguably a hall of fame career and he is definitely one of the greatest players to ever wear the red and black for the atlanta falcons. Before the break we talked about his twenty twenty season how he compared to some of these other. Great receivers of all time You know the reality of his games and his contract status the fact that he will definitely be here in two thousand twenty one. But i want to talk about some of the other. Things are factoring into this discussion. The falcons have actually been remarkably lucky. And they're drafting of wide receivers over the years if you look at The fact that they moved from roddy white who is a very good wide receiver to julio jones which is a very good transition from wide receiver one to wide receiver. One and now. You've got them moving. Essentially from leo jones to calvin ridley who in his third year in the league has shown that he's he's really. I think ready to take on that role of being the the true number. One receiver on the team. The falcons have had incredible fortune in just finding some great receivers to continue to come in and keep the productivity going at that position and it's even more important in today's nfl. incredibly pass. Heavy in the falcons in particular who have been unable to establish a running game since two thousand and sixteen now. Calvin ridley turns twenty-seven this season and now granted that december twentieth. So he's going to be twenty six for the majority of the season But if you use sort of the same barometer for calvin that you do for julio he's probably got five six seasons left in that range He will be in the fourth year of his contract in two thousand. Twenty one. More than likely to falcons will exercise the fifth year option on him which will keep him here Through his age twenty eight year which means he's going to be essentially under contract. Calvin will in twenty twenty one and twenty twenty two julio's last year on the team currently is set to be twenty twenty. Three that is also the year. That calvin ridley will become a free agent. Now unless something goes completely sideways with calvin ridley. I suspect that the falcons will want to get him. Signed to a deal before they get to that twenty twenty three season and obviously the the team can Offset the cap. Hits to where larger cap hits happened down stream for him if they get him to a four or five year deal. I imagine they're going to try to get a four or five year deal something like a three year deal. But with calvin it's that we're going to have a year a or two depending on when they get in that new contract again. Twenty twenty two. He can play under that fifth year option. But a lot of times you try to get these guys secured. So they don't have to play internet. You can control the capital of it better because that fifth year option also essentially guarantees them. Money and clubs want to You know day like the the safety net having that fifth year option but in reality it's in their best benefit to try something go upfront. Because if there's one thing we've seen in the nfl the longer you wait to get somebody under contract the more likely it is. You're going to pay more than when you get them signed earlier. So with calvin. I suspect they're going to try to get something on paper for him in two thousand twenty two which means you'll have a new deal on twenty twenty two which is the first season. Julio jones can get cut This is critical The falcons are looking. Julio jones with that nineteen point two million cap hit and twenty twenty two which is really the first reasonable season that they can move on from leo. And they're looking at you. Know giving a new deal to calvin ridley to secure him for the next four or five years and honestly but they can keep that twenty. Twenty two cap hit for calvin relatively small. They're still going to be a bit of a cap. Hit in twenty two twenty two for calvin released new deal if it happens then and again that overlap of those two years with him. And julio is what makes the likelihood of Julio playing out his full contracts seem less and less likely now this may be influenced. By what the falcons do in the draft this year if they decide to use one of their draft picks on a receiver especially if they use a draft pick in day. One day to some of you are instantly triggered by the idea of them using another first round pick on the wide receiver. I also hope they do not do that. But if they use one in the second round or third round That could be assigned that they do not think lear jones will ride out his contract in atlanta with twenty twenty two being the the really the earliest year. They can move on from him. So calvin ridley and his emergence in this past season has really created a bit of a conundrum for the team. for them and how they perceive julio jones going forward now obviously his performance julio jones performance in twenty twenty one will also be a huge factor if he misses a lot of games due to injury if his numbers begin to decline at a rapid pace so we saw him at eighty five point seven yards per game were whereas carajas ninety five point five if that dips below eighty if it dips below seventy you could see some concern within the falcons organization that that declined that that wall that we talked about with guys like randy moss and andre johnson. If he's hitting that wall that twenty twenty two season becomes incredibly difficult to predict. Because do you wanna give in commit nineteen point two million of your salary cap in that season two at that point what would essentially be your second wide receiver on the team. A guy who will be thirty three years old. I'm sorry thirty two years old and Someone who if you cut improperly could save you almost twelve million against your salary cap again huge questions and honestly we're not gonna have the answers you know. We're we're projecting right now on this podcast. But i think ultimately what's going to really be a factor for twenty twenty two and twenty twenty three. The last year of his deal is going to be how he performs next year and what he is able to do Under arthur smith Whether he can stay incredibly productive whether the injuries are behind him if he can put another fourteen fifteen sixteen game season That's going to factor into the conversation. But i think looking at some of the guys came before him. Randy moss. Andre johnson calvin johnson. It's it is. It's not out of bounds to ask in wonder if you know. Julio can keep this going These guys play it such incredibly high levels with physicality the speed in the body. Just can't keep up with that for an extended period of time and honestly. Julio has already had an absolutely stunning career you know. There's zero doubt about that So with that said we did have a poll at the alcoholic dot com. Where we asked you guys what you thought what happened and what you want to happen and many of you voted and i truly appreciate this..

Andre johnson andre johnson Randy moss Julio jones calvin ridley fifth year three year five year leo jones two years atlanta falcons Julio calvin johnson next year second round randy moss december twentieth first round Calvin calvin

NFL WEEK 3: Our official predictions for who wins this weekend

"So. I gave talk about. Obviously a game that still sits our my mind from last week. The Atlanta Falcons go our land Alcan's play. The Chicago bears this week. Chicago was to know the Falcons are all into one o'clock on Fox. Obviously, the Falcons. About that the shambles, the the. Disgusting performance that we saw last week losing a game that they should've never lost Dallas cowboys now going to Chicago bears team defensively is still one of the better teams in the NFL. Immature bisky while not playing. Ultra, great. Still playing well enough for them to win. If, you look at this game, you would think the Falcons will win because one of the Falcons do have going for them as they do have one of the better offenses in felt even to the two weeks you've seen that. And they're going to a bears team that. Can Be, offered to challenge America can be limited. So the Falcons you put up points. The game should be over now the falcons defense does have some questions, but I do think they would put voices should be enough to create distance in the bears it'd be able to pick up the whip. Obviously the bears are companies just gave a lot of confidence. As they should. To An older, start the season I mean. I saw some Falcon fans tweet about it. They don't necessarily want the T. Blues remember they're only to the of this dot over by any stretch. But people really what? Dad Queen Gone. And so. It's Cadillac Party. Wants. To lose. The ship but the Chicago bears going to three eight. Oh probably be one of the young shockers of this early season. I'm going to very hastily picked the Falcons to win this game. I think they they are the better team. Now whether they actually leads to the results on Sunday we'll see but I'm going to go the Falcons to win this game as they are the better team to me. I, Think Matt Ryan will continue his great start to the season. I think are often will continue to click. There are questions of Julio. Jones will play this Sunday I. Think he will. He usually plays to injuries when his Julio not move something now he did. Have a setback in practice but. You know I think. He should be able to go. and honestly, if he didn't would be great for my fantasy team either but I got kindergarten if I need to step up or racial gauge. So yeah. But yeah with the Falcons. Next game forty niners, giants, I've this Games interesting. Remember last week. The point is playing metlife stadium loss Garoppolo MOATS are. Bosa, Thomas they lost a lot of guys last week. And the. Giants team who? Looks like they'll probably be at the bottom of the barrel the NFC east. Especially after losing saquon Barkley. For? The. season. When I players were scared to play at metlife stadium because they felt like the the stadium turf in and everything was the reason for a lot of those injuries that they had last week when they played the jets. Now. I it's. It's interesting to see what it's GONNA be 'cause they're playing a backup quarterback backup running backs they got sued offensive Lineman. I still don't have Richard Sherman. You have a lot of injuries. and. So this may be a winnable game for the giants I mean, you don't really know what to expect from the forty niners this week. So it'd be you say here they of Jimmy, Garoppolo at least played to me I. Think you would be like, okay for eight hours I think we'd still be able to win, but we don't know how good the Ford back for Norwich backup QB may play. I mean, luckily, the void ours have a lot of defensive talent still. So it's not like older pleaded they have nobody but. It. Isn't as comfortable as A. But I would still in my right mind, go with the four years to win the game.

Two Seattle Seahawks earn Player of the Week honors after dominant Week 1 win

"Maybe, the most impressive team of the day was Seattle. Russell Wilson was thirty one of thirty, five, Oh my God for three, hundred, twenty, two, yards, four touchdowns no picks. That's ridiculous. Thirty one of thirty five metcalf picked up where he left off big day and they destroyed Atlanta and and I think that NFC west is just going to be fascinating all year long Seattle's not going to have a home field advantage. You're not GonNa have that twelfth man thing they got going out there but man, they're they're good and they're a veteran team I I think Seattle. Really is going to be a very difficult to deal with this year that quarterback may be in the prime of his career right now what year nine for him it is e was so special in that game. He was so good. It's just he's. Become. So, much fun to watch play fast the operates and how he's really gotten such a feel for the game. Become what Sean mcvay would call an extension of the offensive coordinator He's in control. It was also game that Matt Ryan threw for four, hundred, fifty they were down I mean, Julio Jones, at Fifty Ridley at one, hundred, thirty gauge to gauge at and fourteen. They, Have Hayden hearst they IRV Smith I think Atlantic could be good. Defense has been a problem for a while which is weird because it's Dan Quinn to think about that. which was Laying the first coordinator when the seahawks became. Great. Exactly.

Falcons could field an offense with 11 first-round draft picks

"So we had a truck a couple of signings by the Atlanta Falcons over the weekend right to pick up tight end Hayden Hurst from the Baltimore Ravens and they also acquired look Kwan Treadwell a former number one pick for the Minnesota Vikings yeah as the Atlanta falcons roster currently stands right now on offense alone just on offense they have a Levin former first round picks all of these former first round picks quarterback Matt Ryan first round pick Todd Gurley who sign when he was released first round pick Julio Jones first round pick Calvin Ridley first round pick the Quantrill first round pick Hayden Hurst first round pick left tackle Jake Matthews first round pick left guard James carpenter first round pick center Alex Mack former first round pick Chris Lindstrom the right guard former first round pick and right tackle Caleb McGary also that he first started his first round eleven is incredible let them all eleven of them a former first round pick I mean there's no way that's ever happened before right I can't believe that what ever but here's the real question if you had to redraft everyone of these players how many would be former first rounder this okay because I think this is fair Lidstrom McGarry and carpenter I've always been really what one or two years no it's been really since two thousand eleven okay yeah so let's remind me Gerry I think you were taken off or taken them out yeah okay so all of the other nine how many would be redrafted as a first round what's what's going on it's not right absolutely no question that runs for Todd Gurley no yeah I I would say no I would sit well I would say no one quite frankly his a conversation about the value of the position in general could also affect the new with him that was the thing coming out of college yes I look he has fifty eight rushing touchdowns over his first whatever seasons and all the other ones are either in the hall of Famer going let me just say six are we saying first rounder today or go back to the beginning again it would re drawing back to the beginning again because I'm currently the way Todd Gurley came out I mean would you not still take him in the first one that's the question now right are you going to pay for that kind of production from a running back anymore we saw Christian McCaffrey Leonard for net like there's been plenty examples of even a legal or not re signing a big second contract drafting a great one of the first round can still benefit you a lot okay I'm just trying to get to it you know is that what they've done in their right career does that mean where are the first roll worthy to me the girly thing is to your point he had a knee injury coming out of college and right when they signed with the red sign that long term deal with they're trying they got out of now then he was going to be chronic so to me the top group member he was the first one that airports reset the market for running backs and it turned out no he just re establish the old line of thinking but that first three years of production would you that would you spend a first round pick on that because we saw that rand's office how much in common now it always goes like this with the running game but in combination with an offense of line that did really well what you brought into what worth over would you pay for that as the foundation of your off I'm beginning to go the Melkite around here that I'm not sure running back as well because Melvin Gordon was in that same draft and Melvin Gordon is on his team I got an extreme I think that's the biggest conversation we could take out of this is the running back position record number mellow one point eighty never take a running back in the first Rana I wonder for we're slowly but surely going back to it I mean there was a contract a couple years ago with the first running back off the board was late second round out of Tennessee and I think we're going back to that after a bevy running backs being taken so we were definitely in on Matt Ryan yes we're out on Todd Gurley a legit is amazing looking back at Todd Gurley's draft class there's not a lot of got like if you're talking about reworking the top ten Todd Gurley might be the most wealthy in that group maybe outside of Amari Cooper yeah we can we can have that discussion later because that's in it read graphic I think is always fast and you have to wait a certain amount of time Julio Jones know quite well right Calvin Ridley first round too early again I think it's too early last year what he had sixty three receptions okay just under nine hundred okay seven touchdowns I would mean he also can't account for how bad that team ask me yes or no right now I'd say yes but I still think it might be too early Hayden Hurst no not because look they they took marketers later in the draft in the third round he clearly became the tight end of Baltimore which made Hayden Hurst by the way has taken in the first row before Lamar Jackson R. Jackson for Lamar starting you know tight on that team right now marketers you said right Hayden Hurst also dealt with some injuries and stuff there too that's okay in perfect sample size and when you have a guy come on like marquetry who could predict that the way that offense ended up of what he was the Mackey award winner a what he was coming home with one truck will no no Jake Matthews yes I think so I think so I think so do not I meet yeah yeah I mean yes he's been there he's been there is a second contract I also wrote a like doesn't miss a lot of games he's he's dependable yeah I think that's what it our printer are probably not I mean he's he's been a guy that's been in the league for nine years now dependable guy but we're talking about first round right you know I mean when you're twenty four we'll talk about for sure we're talking about top ten picks like a lot yeah yeah yeah I I'd probably lean toward no on that as well yeah yeah Alex Mack yeah absolutely yeah yeah and then the other than what we remember and I think Lidstrom would be headed in that direction yeah kill the guy who's more reach last year get killed the one I have questions about obviously we know the health concerns that existed before the draft earning a hard issue that he had had to deal with early in this time oxygen so there's a lot to hash out with those two but just I mean blows off the page when you just read that number the every single hundred dinners with that crew yeah what eleven Ryan still got its still on that ride to reach for the paycheck first but everyone else has to at least go for their wallets and act like there's also a common I do with you know with my dad so you got rid you got Ridley help you got got this R. Ridley Hearst links from a Gerry all still on their rookie deals you know wrecked yeah everybody else is is all for them yeah if I'm looking at yes correct so yeah they're all fascinating eleven a former first rounders on

Atlanta Falcons add Todd Gurley to roster a day after Los Angeles Rams released him

"Breaking news the Los Angeles rams have released running back Todd Gurley came out of college you know there were people who were worried about longevity because of issues around spend weeks exploring a trade for him now Gurley will be free to sign with any team you have to wait long Todd Gurley is signing with the falcons Todd Gurley obstacle form forty played college football at Georgia it's a one year deal for the twenty five year old running back sure that once a Todd Gurley Julio Jones on the same offense Ian AT T. L. not the box and not would Brady instead he goes back to the peach state as a former Georgia bulldog headed to the Atlanta Falcons one day after being released by the rams it's a one year six million dollar agreement but Adam Schefter reminds us that will still pull in plenty of coin from the rams not only did Todd Gurley want to go back there but they had a need girly goes back to Georgia the falcons fill the gap that they created when they released abbante Freeman in a salary cap casualty earlier this offseason so girly goes back to Georgia the falcons get their man keep in mind that the rams are paying him seven and a half million dollars this season on that one year deal and whatever else the falcons add on is just icing on the cake for Todd Gurley Gurley is run for more than a thousand yards in three of his five seasons with the rams he ran for a career low though eight fifty seven just this past year feel the aid style on Golovkin away going how he fits with his new team so I look at their depth chart right now and the death star get laughed after the release of the pontiff Freeman is relatively fan not ito Smith and Brian hill and you know it's in quad copter Allison who are sort of debt level running backs and taught happens to be from Atlanta which are happy to be out there in Georgia I should not be played at the university of Georgia also it is not that your home coming the only thing that matters in football but there are a lot of boxes that Todd Gurley checked by going back to the falcons are going to the father died today but I'm not surprised by this move all right with the girly now gone from the rams the onus is now on to other people Todd Gurley was expendable Todd Gurley was someplace to save money Brandon cooks might be as well with Cooper Kupp and Robert what's on that roster do you need to be paying Brandin cooks the Los Angeles rams are moving in this second phase of their title contention will it work we'll find out the truth is now the pressure ships from GM les Snead the coach Sean McVay now the pressure ships to the quarterback they put at the center of this new face this center of his new rebuild Jared Goff can the rams continue to be a Super Bowl contender the answer lies and how much you believe in Jared Goff Jared Goff and

Jalen Ramsey's troubled Jaguars tenure ends with blockbuster trade to Rams

"Terms of Jalen Ramsey will talk about this he finally got what he wanted the end result the disgruntled corner headed to the Los Angeles Rams the Jaguars finally relented and Ramsey to the west coast for first round draft picks two of the one in twenty twenty one in two thousand twenty one also a fourth rounder in the two thousand twenty one draft here's a statement for Jaguars executive VP. Tom Coughlin given the situation with Jalen we made this decision based on what we thought is in the best interest of the Jacksonville Jaguars for this season and well into the future we feel the trade that we struck with the rams gives us great value for the next two drafts and remain confident that our team today will compete this season for a division title Jalen Wasser Productive Flair but the time came to move on and we wish him and his family the best in Los A- Angela here's head coach Doug marrone obviously I had a good relationship with him and we were working together to get them healthy on the field and that that's what my focus was so he can get on the field and help us you know win football games and now you know how concentrating on on the players gotta here and and getting our guys focused on on on Cincinnati I think in his league nothing ever really surprises me anymore you know especially from the business side of things I found out like everybody else did last night you know lately point Dave came in and told me Rams reporter Lindsey theory joins us from L. A. and Lindsey listen there's been a lot of coming and going and all Ryder roster changes what's the general reaction to all of the news from the rams this week Wendy for a team that's three and three and in the mid of a three game losing streak certainly renewed buzz and energy at the team facility this morning now I am told the Jalen Ramsey is in route to Los Angeles and he's expected here later this afternoon or the rams do expect that he will pass his physical and I am told that he could be on the field for them as soon as Sunday against the Falcons now this would be viewed as a move where the rams are going all in once again to try to make a repeat super bowl run but I am told the Rams really believe that this is a move for their long-term future keep to leave and Marcus Peters or playing the season on expiring contracts Ramsey has another season left and the rams do intend to sign him to a long term engine now as you mentioned he's not the only new face here at the facility today Kenny Young Austin Corbett also were here they have passed their physicals though remains to be seen if they will be at practice later this afternoon and one more note Wendy Safety John Johnson is headed to injured reserve because of shoulder injury. Lindsey thank you it was a rare blockbuster trade a few weeks now before the trading deadline Ramsey joined a small handful of veteran players traded for multiple first round picks in the last third two years or so Khalil Mack and Jay Cutler garnered big offers from the bears the dolphins move two first rounders for Ricky Williams and it too big halls to get Herschel Walker an Eric Dickerson listen we can go back to the jags but since June Ramsey is moving onto the rams let's start with what he means for the La Rams Right now we'll Wade Phillips now gets a play defense the way he wants to Wakefield's really wants to play in your face on the line of scrimmage with the defensive line pressure and then in your face on the live with men cover corners. He hasn't been able to do that to be honest with you with Marcus Peters Marcus Peters is not not played good man to man coverage needs a better zone corner so now wade having Jalen gets the opportunity to get back to Colin defense the way he wants to do it I'll be really interested to see if they use Jalen the way we want I bill belichick thrill reverse where you put him on the team's best number two receiver and then everybody else gets to get double teams opposing for the opposing offense but it makes their defense significantly best Champ Bailey the dion sanders I mean the great quarters you can do that lock him up and then roll the other side I think you'll see that the other thing that was curious for me was that Tom Coughlin mentioned that Jaguars were better this year and going forward I think maybe either that was miss written or because they're not speak they're not better by getting a great player out of there so I miss quotes tim so expe- Joe Joe Listen you were you were spot on Jalen Ramsey never changed his stance which is what you asserted from the get-go and I would assume just finally came to a point where it just made no sense to have him on a roster when he wasn't going to win this transaction happened yesterday the first thing came to my mind is how often the people I was always talking to that this was going to work out for Jalen Ramsey like there was no fretting I didn't hear any fear and now that this is resolved itself in the way that it has it kind of plays into the tone that I've been hearing all along now I was talking to a source obviously familiar with Jalen Ramsey. They said that he's excited considering this a fresh start to be with the rams I think one of the questions that I had in talking to ram source last night was why not hold onto Marcus Peters to have opposite Jalen Ramsey in terms of making this movie now one thing that the ram source said to me is that it looked like it was clear that less need did not want to pay marcus. Peters beyond this year he's eligible unrestrained the free agency next year and it was better just to rip off quote unquote the band-aid now so then it becomes well who is opposite Jalen Ramsey for this game against the Atlanta Falcons they mentioned that two thousand seventeen when cal Roby Coleman I came to the teen that he did fill in for a keep to Leon outside first and second down and then on Nichols would have him excuse me on third down having a nickel or sometimes have troy hill on the outside and then have an RC in the middle so expect something like that or combination of that against the Falcons either way Julio Jones saw the rams problems in the short turn no because the opposite of the ball is atrocious right now and that's been there issue as far as being a front now what I will say is it does play into them getting better though like we can focus on golfing what this offense has been doing but with the guy like Jalen Ramsey not only does he hell Aaron Donald give him a maybe a half a second more to get to the quarterback he also may be able to steal a possession to for you and this ninety four was out there so air down gets another piece on the back end that can help him hold off quarterbacks for a second for him to get there and that's that's really all I can think about so maybe you

A.J. Green's injury on 'subpar' Bengals practice field will cost wide receiver up to two months

"Speaking of injuries unfortunately an M._r._i.. Has revealed that Cincinnati Bengals Wide Receiver A._J.. Green has torn ligaments in his left. Ankle is according affording to Schefter here. They are likely to sideline green six to eight weeks up really not a good situation and teammate Tyler Boyd questioned the turf. The team was practicing on when green was injured. It was terrible. I couldn't run any routes out there. I'm falling all over the ground man it was it was bad. It was rocks pebbles out there man it was somewhere we should have been just feel like the turf was old. You know it just wasn't we didn't get good traction in and out of her breaks. You know a lot of guys not just me was on the ground but I mean who wasn't up there that long but there's gotTa make a word man. We gotta get it well. The turf was that welcome stadium at the University of Dayton where the bengals are practicing coach you buy this well. I haven't seen the video really in this instance probably not but I will say that you know feel. Surfaces are very very important for player safety. You know whether it's a grass field you know what is the old school latch with Pittsburgh steelers. We practice on hard old school astroturf every day for five years so no you got to look at it but in that instance I think it was a matter of the kind of rolling up on the back of his ankle and that was what I saw caused that particular injury about sure it was the field service problem here in addition to the injury of course which is is paramount is the optics of this and when you have a player who says this sort of perception is reality and then then it's out there and you got players. You might believe this is the case whether the optics to this are awful and this time of year teams are trying to realize their fan N._B._C.'s. I've been a part of that for a number of years. Every team has an operations department and kind of like the offensive line. You'd never talk about the operations department until there's a problem and part of their responsibility is to advance where hotels are safety of the fields whether or not the field deal with safer not now the perception is that it was a problem now e._j.. Green fairness may have gotten hurt it was on their practice field but they're players now think that was a factor and they're at the University of Dayton given rookie head coach. He's trying to establish himself itself and now he has a problem in the locker room because these players are questioning what the organization did and that Operation Staff that you're referring to my signed off on the practices being here the League went to them. They sent a site survey team to inspect the field and that site survey survey team for the Bengals said this field is okay to practicing and maybe they thought it's one practice we can get through now. You've got a situation where you see A._J.. Green get hurt on this play and we can take another look at it right here where he goes up for the past the D._v. lands on his ankle. He's on the turf tears ligaments in his ankle. He's going to be sixty weeks. Think about how much is at stake your now. You have a first year head coach Zack Taylor who's trying to come in and implemented program. They've already lost their first round draft. Pick joyner Williams to a season ending injury. Now you lose your left tackle. You lose your number one wide receiver. They are at a loss there and A._J.. Green himself is going into the last year of his contract so at a time when we're talking about new deals for Michael Thomas in Amari Cooper Julio Jones guess who else was on that list of A._J.. Green so what happens now to his value as argument now that he is going to be out for some period of time and organization standpoint. That's a really difficult position because A._J.. Degrees could say hey. I've done all the right things. I was out there practicing at the university because you wanted me to and now that's going to hurt me and take money out of my own pocket. It could really cause a situation to go awry very quickly and again even if the operations team went through all the protocols the the perception is that this feel wasn't safe and now they have a problem with one of their best players. Yeah I think that team without J. Green if you look at their record versus with huge and so he's a big part of their team. He's going to be missed. This is that there's a fair amount of injury here to start. You know this is not the way not the way you want to get off the ground. No team does last last year he missed time with a toe injury and when he was out of there the offense did not operate the same toddler boys production fell off and everybody thinks talent boy. We'll just emerge as the number one guy and he's a really good wide receiver but the fact that matters A._G.. Green when he's out there makes tyler. Holler bought a better received. John Ross still has not stepped up as the first round draft pick that he was. He says he's ready to do that. Will they need him to do that. They've got some other players Alex Berenson some good young receivers but A._J.. Green is on a level with Julio Jones. He's is that kind of talent and when you Jack Taylor coming into his offense it's hard to get by without somebody that good.

Zeke Update

"Be N._F._l.. Teams are in training camp but that doesn't mean every player is we've got hold doubts in key spots Saints Michael Thomas Chargers Melvin Gordon who else Yana can gakugei Jacksonville Trent Williams in Washington and of course Ezekiel Elliott in Dallas the big one big name that everyone's watching out there in oxnard California all guys that <hes> are heading into either the final year of their deal or wants some sort of adjustment on their contract before camp or the season starts so we gotta go through all these the person who helps us make sense of all this stuff is our own Adam schefter so Adam Una make this pretty simple. I will give you a name and you tell us the latest on that player. Start with Ezekiel Elliott of of the cowboys will Zeke Elliott has not shown up in Oxnard California side of the Dallas Cowboys training camp and they're going through physical today. They are basically supposed to be attending a team meeting and there's no sign of Zeke right now which tells you soup that it looks like at the very least Zeke Watch is underway and it certainly feels like this is going to be a hold out while the two sides tried to see if they can come up with a new deal for Zeke Elliott but no signs of him California this yet and no signs as of November by the chargers camp right now then this one is going to go on for a while the two sides basically have their own stances. There have differing pains. Nobody Gordon's value. I don't see this getting south anytime this summer I I think this one looks like it has a real chance to go into the regular season. It's time for Austin Ecuador and Justin Jackson and no Michael Thomas in New Orleans still you take the reading receiver off that team. The saints have offered to make them the highest a wide receiver receiver in football. It sounds like he wants to get to a very high threshold north of twenty million dollars a year. We'll see what they can get there where the saints a willing to budge but Michael Thomas wants to become not just a highest eight wide receiver in football but the highest paid wide receiver football by a long shot right now while we wait for Julio Jones deal to potentially come in later this summer Adam sit tight we we'll come back to you as as needed. We're going to go back and talk about Ezekiel Elliott though how important is even to the cowboys he's led the N._F._l.. Rushing yards per game in each of his first three seasons the only other players to do that in the ninety nine year history of the N._F._l.. or Jim Brown and Earl Campbell perhaps you've heard of them. Both of those guys are in the hall of fame name safe to say that few running backs have ever had a better start to their careers then has Ezekiel Elliott

Which college produces the best NFL talent?

"A special edition of N._F._l.. Live on deck today at the N._F._l.. Celebrates one hundred season just six weeks away however we are just five weeks away in college. Football Opens It one hundred fiftieth the anniversary so today welcome N._F._l.. You were combining the two worlds to answer age-old question what college produces the best n._F._l.. Talent however I'm Wendy net sand Hutus here you know what's better to be on this panel our expert notice icy expert telling me when Lewis Minute of her panter on the list not on the House for back the quarterback guru he and his brother in a lot of N._F._l.. Games James A lot and Ryan Clark. You see the L. L._S._U.. They are ills college football. L. Is Jonathan Vilma bike. He will join US shortly. He happened to win a National Championship and Oh by the way a super bowl as well coming up on N._F._l.. Live will break down position by position which college produces the best quarterback Oklahoma has the number one overall pick the last two years we have the top ten plays all the N._F._l.. Superstars when they were in college and answering big question which school produces the best all time N._F._l.. Talent we had to ask the players themselves to kick things off. We're the first pick quarterback Oklahoma Viva say Oklahoma Alabama Clemson because proven it is one atop factory the Ohio state highest in Alabama. 'cause I never lost beat out. You really can't understand it into your inside. Sadness programming is all about the you for N._F._l.. Because of Georgia in every aspect but I think L._S._U.. CRESA environment of gray competition and guys is trying to feed off of IT University of Pittsburgh. You Got Dorset. Dan Marina you got Larry. Fitzgerald was not a me show. It's about having everybody involved in working for the Sandal clumps in would cushman he's been doing. He's making people believe everything is possible for House is the best our stop it. Stop stuff well. Let's start shall we with the most players from each college currently in the N._F._l.. Alabama leads the way with V with sixty five players players followed by Ohio state in second place with fifty eight so we're going to debate these schools I in terms of who is best at producing N._F._l.. Challenge here's a tale of the tape on Alabama at Ohio state success since the two thousand draft folks tools I have had thirty one first round picks the most of any school while the Buckeyes have thirteen more total picks in the last twenty drafts but Bama's players have been slightly more successful in the league producing three more pro bowlers than Ohio St Louis Rick. Let's start with with the crimson tide. They're starting eleven if you will offense and defense current N._F._l.. Talent there's any question that these are both very impressive lineups that if Alabama can roll these teams out there right now now. I think they'd win a few games without a doubt. If you look at the offense aside outside of the ball the first thing that jumps out of these starting eleven are the two wide receivers look Julio. Jones is one of the finest athletes in the N._F._l.. For guardless of position he's in the news right now because he's about to get a new contract extension and he's really one of the he's one of the transcendent players at the position that this game the scene Amari Cooper the same way. When Amari came out of college? I remember doing his tape in thinking point honestly as far as catching one pet and run wide receiver. I hadn't seen one as good as him as him. In a long long time on the defensive side look they have fine players throughout the eleven here really that when you get to the secondary and you guys like Eddie Jackson Landon Collins I mean these guys are disband tastic players on the front dont`a hightower our multiple time superbowl winner. These are great great players right here. Make our way to Columbus shower of the to Ohio state you go to the offense side of the football. Look the first thing that jumps out without a doubt as Ezekiel Elliott because if he's not the best running back in the N._F._l.. He would be considered a top three running back in the N._F._l.. Wide Receiver Michael Thomas Really someone who was unheralded coming out of college. He's a tremendous tremendous. Pro will probably be the highest paid wide receiver in the N._F._l.. In short time then move over to the defensive side of the ball this this is where really this football team really kind of jumps off the board starting up Front Joey Bosa Cam Hayward those are two of the best defense alignment in the N._F._l.. Right now and then when you look down there at the Secondary Malcolm Dyson Dinkins Denzel Ward Marshon Lattimore doesn't let's get much better than that. All right Jonathan Vilma made his way again surly qualified to weigh in on this discussion. Look I mean there's a shortage of talent with either of these squads. It's almost ridiculous factory and a lot of ways both of these institutions but let the debate again a Ryan Clark. You can't pick L._S._U.. Just yet but when you look at this group what stands out L._S._U.'s better than both of these things we're gonNA get to that. We're supposed to be talking outlets. Let's be honest. There's amazing players. Neither one of them have a quarterback right before proven yet though little I mean why don't we always have to see something first before we can get you well Ray Richardson running back right you saw God compare that with you why time gentlemen we're GonNa play Nice Got Ninety minutes ago. You're the Glenn Difference from every other position that we're looking at okay fair enough now back to you Louis. It is a production results oriented industry. Is it not so it is fair to say seeing something. Does one believe they'll be success won't sure but I mean we're we'll see this is kind of like a combination of what they have done in college. What some of these guys have done in the pros in some of it's a little bit of projecting about what they're gonNA continue to do in the pros? That's how I'm going to expand it to that all right so at quarterback quarterback Dwayne Haskins I believe right now. There's no comparison as far as I don't care what A._J.. McCarron did it Alabama cows tape. Those Wayne has close exact Haskins is going to be a fine football player. What's going to happen to him? Really is going to be more predicated on what Washington redskins overall due to him then what he does to himself. I firmly believe that as far as these rousers overall look the wide receiver position Julio Jones Amari Cooper. Julio Jones's the standard if you go and look N._F._l.. For an offices and look in their scouting books books every team has a standard at every position that they put for scouts the suit for as far as whenever when their scouting people polio is going to be on that list for for many many teams he's about as good as it gets so skill positions at Alabama are awesome. The defensive players at Ohio State is what stands out for me as far as their front seven is concerned particularly their defensive line and their secondary Denzel Award Marshon Lattimore. You tell me a team that wouldn't take those two young men right now and startled. Let me ask you a specific question since you spend some time as an analyst watching these players at the collegiate level if you had to choose either of this group Alabama Ohio state who's players really got better or who took a bigger step forward than you anticipated when they got to the N._F._l.. Out To you to dance your last part no neither standout. They're pretty equal because watching these guys watching Jonathan Allen he played okay well Dante. I'll tell you knew who is going to be tremendous player defensive player C._J.. Moseley's same thing and then you go to the other side and you look at Joey Bosa Nick Bosa Darren like Malcolm Jenkins. I play with Malcolm Jenkins in in New Orleans knew he was going to be a study. He's Philistine but what is surprising how fast or House they defense is. I did not realize how fast defensive you think big ten you didn't big Brawley guys not so fast but these guys can move joey. Bosa also can move nick volks in Darren League. We know the Burner Malcolm J. Denzel War March. I mean that is a very very talented athletic fast fast defense. I thought I was going to jump in your rookie. I think that's a great question Wendy about as far as what teams teams have players that have gotten better pros. You look at Ohio state this look at their offense. In particular Michael. Thomas was a good wide receiver to hire Stayton. He's fantastic now. He's GonNa be highest paid wide receiver in the N._F._l.. Andrew Norwell most people wouldn't even know Andrew Norwell well what from Andrew Doorbell he right now just judge Moore Norwell can't open open some N._F._l.. Spectacular and even on the defensive side of the ball. I didn't think Marshon lattimore. I've liked Marshon Lattimore at Ohio state. I didn't love Marcet. He has taken his game to another level as well in the really own Alabama side you know how I feel about Alabama I feel nick and what he does and how he builds his program but really focus on their offense align that was just look okay and think about that question. Wendy Wendy asked how many players have gotten better how many have continued to improve Andre Smith may have his best days at Alabama. Dame's carpenter has really been good pro Brian Kelly the jury still out he could be a he's a good player. He's GonNa play already in Indianapolis D._J.. fluker was he ever ever really that guy that dominant guy no. He hasn't been Cam Robinson. Have you seen story so it's interesting because they're preventing people have been many people who've hit Alabama and said they get the best out of their players at Alabama. Maybe it's good discussion legal where people go by what teams there drafted so we look at Michael Thomas he falls into a place where he needs an accurate passer and he's one of the most accurate passers all the time also about the place you land in ashore and how they develop you ask Josh Rosen he absolutely he knows that all too well. I ten Hasselbeck. The whole point of this is to pick one of our producers here a little bit we talked. I'm going Alabama mainly change quarterbacks. Yeah I think looks great point about the offensive line at Alabama because so many of them when you look at them just in terms of body type you're like Oh my God look at those guys body type wise but like I don't know that some of those guys have come in and be like Oh and they got a whole lot better. We're obviously splitting hairs here on this ongoing Alabama Lewis Sorry Nick. Oh from a hustle change your mind or did you stick the way said one because I don't care if between Haskins hasn't played. I think he's I think he's in the saints. Stratosphere is A._J.. McCarron so I like that I liked it their offense of line one of the things that talked about how they develop those guys on the defense aside but they're fun four plus their secondary this going with them Ryan Clark you have to pick one while I was brought here for one reason in one reason only when the Knicks because everyone knew it my answers it would be and what Tim Hasselbeck has proven is. You don't need a quarterback. That's really he's GonNa be Ohio state in Alabama that don't have quarterbacks guess what we don't need a quarterback back and by the way you don't want our first off was good enough for Bill Belichick your boy to draft him as Tom Brady's heir-apparent draft. We thought they they went to L._S._U.. Because this guy has what they decided to we throwing the ball all around the field Andrew Whitworth he's played a thousand years. There's a Guy Jerry go look at the Neil hundred may has like negative two percent body fat Michael Broncos out. There aren't key. We gotta wait on them but it's are are you at the back of position. That's all we got mad. I gotTa get here all even have to work conviction when you spoke scissors. I'm sorry I just so tim. I love your twenty. Two question your toughness Whoa West I've seen because as you know what fair enough he's at Alabama alum landon dare you wait into the circus that we've created. But what do you have to say about this. Whole debate ain't Ryan got some good good good stuff going on say? I wouldn't question his toughness at all. I don't know why you questioned Ryan toughness. I saw him not got a lot of Alabama's always number one no matter Corolla tyrod. Let me ask you a serious question. You know obviously nick. Sabin is a hall of Famer one of the best ever coach this game but specifically what does he do that has allowed such historic success at the university. Steve Alabama <hes> as a coach he speaks for as a coach. He represents his players as players coach. I would say he makes all this coach. All the players are on the him as a player as a father <hes> <hes> and as a as many tried to teach us they'd be a man and a great play all at one time you know so he does it all leading. Can you please tell the people why you are now better that you have trusted your career training with the guy from L._S._U.. Hey right you agreed trying to grow been gone on gone for years
