"The city's plans for reopening schools have been delayed twice since plans were initially announced back in July. In person learning has been delayed again, not enough teachers or supplies. Most elementary school students will be out of physical classrooms until at least September, 29th. Middle school and high school students will learn remotely through at least October 1st why this wasn't hammered out weeks ago, Teachers union President Mike Mulgrew says staff began to realize the needs when they got into the school buildings this week instead of an abstract or hypothetical that we knew was going to prove to it actually started to come into actual numbers of teachers. That we're going to be needed. Mayor de Blasio added. 2500 more teachers to man classrooms. The mayor was asked whether he thought parents were running out of patience with the changing scenario. FTC eyes possible antitrust suit against Facebook

"Check out shares facebook under fire today as the social media giant deals with a boycott in possible anti-trust lawsuit let's get to Julia Carson. Who's got the details. Julia? Well, Melissa, the FTSE's in working on its investigation into facebook since last June and now the Wall Street Journal is reporting that the agency is gearing up to possibly file an antitrust lawsuit. Later, this year after investigating concerns that facebook's been using its position to stifle incompetent to stifle competition and examining its acquisitions of potential competitors got a no comment from facebook as well as from the FTC on this report but. That's always the question what could come next while a majority of the five member commission would have to vote in favor of the suit. Then potential remedies could range from breaking off a piece of the company to a fine to restrictions on facebook's operations than to mandate any changes. The FTC, would have to prove that these book violated antitrust law. Now, this conversation comes as a dozen of top celebrities on instagram. Abstain from posting on that platform today in solidarity with the Hashtag Stop Hate for profit campaign the participants including Kim Kardashian with one hundred, Eighty, eight, million followers Katy Perry with one, hundred, seven million or posting messages this week about how they think facebook could address hate speech on facebook and instagram. Now Kim Kardashian posting yesterday quote that she can't sit by and stay silent while these platforms continue to. Allow the spreading of hate propaganda and misinformation and double ACP CEO Derek Johnson saying quote it's speaks volumes that there is now widespread concern but facebook's complacency and W.. C.. P. Of course, is one of the organizers of stop hate for profit. Now, of course, the question is whether this will impact consumer behavior and whether it could drive facebook to make additional changes Melissa, Juliet's interesting the basis the FTC. Potential suit or complaint in that when facebook bought what's up when facebook instagram these were nowhere near competitor's at the time I mean, at the time it seemed for instance, Instagram it was purchased what for a billion dollars it at thirteen employees I don't think that anybody ever thought that it would become what it is. Today was not seen at all as a potential competitor. Absolutely, and Melissa's worth pointing out that the FTC approved both acquisition of Instagram and the acquisition of WHATSAPP and facebook has argued repeatedly that is because these companies were part of facebook the because that they had the investment of giant like facebook that they could grow to the scale and return they are now in interestingly face, you been focused on integrating the back end of. Those APPs allowing people to message between them and they would say these things don't exist in a vacuum and never would have gotten to that scale if they'd been left as a standalone

Embrace Your Inner Witch

"So, Juliet, as it's a pleasure to have you on the podcast today. It's an honor to be here on your podcast. Super excited. Yeah. I'm really excited to to talk about your work and especially how meditation and mind set an intention ties into effective witchcraft I'm especially interested in that on this on this podcast it is a meditation podcast, but we we've you're out into other realms as well. Amazing and it is such a huge key in manifesting and weaving magic a Lotta people dismiss that part and wonder why what they want or the intentions they're setting aren't coming. True. So it's really important to of talk on this. Excellent. Excellent will we'll get into that for sure. So I want to start out with So I read both of your books, the witchery embraced the which within and the second book which is coming out in September plant witchery discover the sacred language wisdom and magic of two hundred plans are. In those in those books you you spent a fair bit of time actually in the beginning. Explain. What kept isn't Happiness free ourselves of sort of. That are preps not so helpful. So as you as you wrote, it's not about just waving a magic wand as in Harry Potter and we know that they're also are negative connotations even to the word witch, right so right at the start here, I thought it would be helpful. To ask you to to define or just speak briefly about a few terms that we're going to use straightaway. So we all have ground in in what witchcraft is. So can you tell me what you mean by which by spells? Potions and finally magic. So we might spend a little bit of time on this but these these terms I think are important that we're on the same page. Well. The importance of the word, which is that it's not what you think. It's not boxed into one thing on indigenous, which so I come from ancestors who were medicine people aman healers, and for us in our language Spanish it's Brouhaha it's different from English witch but through the generations colonization, the word which has become something now is evil or frowned upon or any woman or man who was able to. Connect with the Earth Spirit great spirit for that matter and divinity and manifesto beautiful life or manifesting into their into their world, and they were able to connect with other people and held a lot of wisdom people were scared of that in that was during all that colonization since our ancestors and people have had a bad taste in their mouth about who are on what they do when in fact. Is Brew has hose. Their medicine. People there. The light keeper's they're the ones who are truly connected to this earth into spirit and who want the best for all of us who want to manifest beautiful is enlightened love and he'll all of those shadows that we have within us in that inner child. So commercial things like movies especially, those are the things that really touched on more of a dark side of what magic or witches can be, and the truth is there is no light without darkness and we do acknowledged that there is a beautiful priority in there's a beautiful balance between light and darkness. Or light and shadow that make up an embody who we are as human beings on this earth and darkness is necessarily it's not necessarily a bad thing. It's where we keep our secret is where we keep our pain. It's where we keep our experiences that we learned from and are able to open up and shine that light that we have from divinity again, movies. Lots of religions and a lot of culture is a frown upon witches because they just don't understand that connection we have with spirit and within ourselves

Mars and Venus Starting Over

"Back. You have to be living under a rock not to know his bestselling book manner from Mars Women are from Venus and John was here last month, and we were talking about starting over after a break up on the difference between how men and Women Cope and was so interesting that I ask John to do another show, not just for single people, but for everybody because we have such a high divorce rate that something is wrong with the way we're approaching marriage. Wouldn't you agree I agree completely what's happened is times have changed. We've moved into a whole new society or expectations are changed. We're no longer modeling relationships after our parents, but it's what we see in the movies. It's what we see. See in TV. Our expectations have dramatically changed. This isn't wrong. They've actually gone to higher level but TV and the movies going to a higher level. Is the divorce rate higher because they don't teach us how to get there when I see. People Fall in love in the movies, and let's say I'm married. I'm not feeling that love for my wife. I go I want that that feels real to me. It tingles my body. I go. I want that, but how do I get it and I try to do what they do and it doesn't work. Nobody's taught us. We have to be re educated on how to have relationships see the reason. We don't have education on relationships, because normally you grow. Grow up in your family. You Watch your parents relationship and you learn thousand nine years of training how to have a relationship like your parents. That doesn't hold hold anymore suddenly. If we do the things our parents did. How many of us are parents creating romance every week? For example, my wife and I one of the things we do to create romance. We want romance every every month we take one day we go away from the kids away from work away from family, and it's basically Gourmet Romance I served. My wife cooked the whole meal. I, take her to a restaurant. We go somewhere. She see women can't continue to be sexually responsive and romantic. If they feel, they're always taking care of. Of Kids. They're always taking care of duty. Women have the breasts that life is sucked out of them. They're being pulled. All the time pooled all the time pooled. All the men don't have that. We just go sit in our easy chair and forget their problems. Women can't do that. Women can't forget we have to do. We want romance to thrive to take her out of that circumstance where she's feeling responsible, responsible responsible. Take her way and romance, or and how many men have been taught how to do that? We're not taught how to do that. Our attitude is if you love someone just supposed to work now. The truth is most people aren't even aware of this. Hollywood has rewritten history yeah. Has. Romance been a part of marriage. Nowhere in history has romance. Marriage. We think of Romeo and Juliet. Reason that's romantic. They both died unmarried yet. Right on John that's right. Romance is possible we can keep the passion a lot. You get about three years of automatic hormones when you meet someone three years the harmonious flow. If you don't have romantic skills and communication skills, there will nurture the woman's hormones that will nurture the man's hormones. Then they go into state of latency, and then you see another person and boom. They're off again. Do relate what he's talking about. You on married here. Everyone in front row, yes. My husband is the selective hearing. Husband I've been married for eight years dated for ten years before we got married. We've gone through two of your books now, and we always say to yourself. Okay John Tell us to do in this situation, and we try to think it through, but still ends up I'm talking I'm talking I'm talking. He's thinking about the trees. The flowers something else and allison I'll say at sparks his interest in. He'll say what did you say? What did you say? What did you say? The whole thing again. I selected hearing I need for him to listen to me when I'm talking. We have such a short amount of time together. We have three children small amount of time to talk. Listen have something important to say that is the number one thing now. One thing is reading my books. Watching the videos men learning to listen the other ingredient is the fuel that allows a man to listen. Have you ever seen a guy dating a woman in a restaurant? Not able to listen to her if he's expecting sex that night. You can tell who are the couples who are married the guy who's expecting sex that night. He's glued on her. What. She says he's right there. TUMMY MORE OPRAH TO. Tell me more. There because there's expectation of that connection. Something happens. It breaks down when you have kids. Now we have to do if we don't want that breakdown, the happen is we have to compensate for? And the woman is just important as this as the man men have to learn skills for communicating, but it's not enough just to listen. Because what you're saying is there is. He's read my books. He's trying to listen. There's no juice not feeling that he's right there and the only thing a woman can say I don't feel you understand and that he gets really frustrated. What do you mean? I don't understand? I can tell you what you just said. She doesn't feel connected. What's missing? What's missing? Is that passionate connection that he used to have when you would talk, and suddenly it's. To listen right. Yes he did you listen to what I had to say? Yeah when you were dating when he courting you when you were in the window three years three year window. You know eighteen years ago so. It's been a long time, so I think what you're saying here. What you're saying here is key about the three year window because we have been fed a whole bill of goods, really in believing that the romance is going to last forever, and it's going to be automatic and it doesn't it doesn't. It doesn't envy created again and again you know the first time my wife touched my thigh. Every cell in my body came alive fireworks right? That's what every man eighteen years later. Well want something. It's not going to happen. Have that passionate response? You're familiar. You're in a relationship. You know the person, but what you can do, and this is what the possibility exists. You can create a romantic getaway. You can maybe go shopping a little bit during the day. Why shopping important women love the Shop Women's shopping? Opportunity I start thinking about herself even if she doesn't buy anything. That's what you have to know. Women don't have to buy things they can just look tried on. She's thinking about herself. Then you feed her. Her. She's always feeding everybody else you've. Feeder brings her back to her sense of self. What's happening? Is You're bringing her back? She's connecting with those hormones. was she felt in the beginning where she felt special, she felt taken care of see. That's what all the dating rituals or about dating rituals. Somebody can look at it and say they're sexists. The man supposed to do this. The woman's supposed to do that. If you want passion to last, you've gotta know. There's roles to play like. If. We go on a date. My wife if I'm not opening the car door for she's very clever. She wraps her arm around me and she just walk into the car. She just keeps me raptor as we go to the car door and I guess I'm opening the car door tonight. opened the door, she oh, thank you, okay.

"I have some concerns about a game series I. Don't really have a lot of stake in but I. I know friends and I. Know People, and obviously it's popular so I'm just got to put an open letter out to the fans. Coconut fans. Are you okay. What's what's? Happening with pokomo Jackson. Well I. Mean Like A. Nintendo has. Gone on for years and years and years saying we'll never deal. See to poke him. We'll never deal. See to Pokemon deal. See pokemon never and. They did it Dave even. The I I believe sixty dollar POKEMON game first game to come up on console pokemon. Sword and shield recently got an expansion DLC. <hes> I don't know what it does I. Don't know if it added anything like Pokemon, wise, or if it was just more area to explore new trainers to fight not. Not, sure but I do know that deal. It is POK MON and it exists, but more than that. There's also. <hes> apparently more pokemon news coming up on the horizon but sense. That deal, see just dropped I. Don't think it's the new main story game that everybody thinks it's going to be, and then on top of that recently, a game kind of popped into <hes> sort of the advertisements on my switch that sort of. Said Hey. You should check the salaries and we came out and <hes> it say Puzzle Game Donors Pok Mon Cafe, and it's cute enough, but it's. Very much like something. I think that could have just. Let Really Song Apple Story and no. Told me about among cafe. Tell me about that. I don't really know how to describe it as a puzzle because it's all touched based, and it's not like sliding blocks. Dropping blobs or anything like? Tetris it's. A big conglomeration of just ev or peak shaped balls, and you drag your finger along. And connect them all in order to make a combo. It's not difficult. It's just so. It's lawyer Bobble late or is this what you've wanted I I yeah, or no, not really. Bust a move would have like you know aiming involved. This is really just you wiggle your finger. Finger across the screen. And then you let go, and then it all clears. It's very. It's very. I guess I would say and you know. Maybe that's fine for. You know the average Joe and I know that Pokemon has had a number of mobile releases now, but part of me is just wondering. Why was this a switch release? Why wasn't this on the phone? It's free. And I believe it is paid play. I deleted it I was just Kinda like well well at check out just to see what it was. I want to see what was going on in the world of poke him on the tertiary side, and it doesn't look that good and I remember. Not to pull the back in my day card. Semi Semi used to be with it and Jack I literally within Jack. Then, they chased what it was. I remember. On Games when the side POK MON Games were. Still capable of bringing you through all the gym, leaders and their trainers and the elite four. I'm talking about the end sixty four classics <unk> stadium. So, you know I know the spinoffs should be like and I've seen what's been going on to the community, and I've kind of vaguely gone people to explain to me like if gotten rid of national decks, so you can't really liked apparently transfer your POK mon from other Games, and if you have an emotional connection to the series. That does suck, and then just to add on top of it. It seems like two to three pieces of big pokemon content are kind of releasing this summer, or at least being announced, and it's really. Doesn't feel I. Don't know I like I said I'm kind of on the outskirts, but I do know people and I'm just worried like. How are you feeling? Is this okay? Are you worry? Do you think Pokemon is more of a? Like a mascot franchise. Or, than the game that it was I, mean it's Kinda, got an identity crisis from the beginning. You know card game anime. It's a brand. It's always been a brand, but I'm just worried that. Maybe it's kind again. Spread a little thin and I'm worried about my friends. And this is my open invitation. To say is I? See what's going on and I'm worried about you?

"Bit of Tardy Gray. Is really a testament to how well written and how deep character he is, and I see season three. And I remember if you remember in the little teasers and trailers your remember that the the flag of the United Federation, of Planets. In the distant future. Doesn't have as many stars as it used to. And we've been given the idea that the federation is not as big as it once was imp distant future. I think that. All stem it's and his scientific knowledge of the sport drive, and all of this tar degrade DNA everything he's done with the my Celia Network. I, think he. Is going to play a major major major role in the return of the Federation as a major power in the future. I think he's going to do something whether it's the spore drive whether it's the my Celia network or some future scientific discovery that we haven't even figured out yet. He is going to do something really really big in season three. That is really going to make the federation a power in the galaxy again because I think he's the guy to do it. Yet Michael Burnham's The star, but more often than not. She's off doing her own and finding something out for herself. and. I think that it's pulse damage. That will be the guy that will do something really big in season three. And, he'll yell at Tilly. Tillie can be annoying. But Yeah I think that one he is going to do something really really big in season three, and yes, we did see the barrier gaze trope in the first season, but I'm fairly confident going forward with Star Trek Discovery. Dr Kohler Huber and standards will be just fine I. Think they're going to be okay. I truly believe that. As you said Heather loves love. And when you look at those two and what they've been through they have been through sickness and health, and they even went through till death. Do US part, and they're still together so I think culprits. Damn, it's going to be okay. I believe that. Well as Wilson cruised loves to say gay love saved the universe, so their love is going to be okay and measure. There's the episode title. Let me write that down. Love Mushrooms Safety. That's that. Is The show title Happy Pride Month? But. Yeah, those are our predictions for Paul. Standards Oh. Let's just say it now, heather. What should we do for next episode? Which one? which character from discovery should do? Burnham. We've done Seru now. We've done pulse NAM. I'm leaning towards George Oh. If you're okay with that. Yeah I'm okay with that. All right next week it will be. Michelle Ios, Emperor Philip Georgia and Some predictions for her on the next episode now with upcoming business. This is the part where we talk about stuff that maybe a little bit further down the line. In the Star Trek right now. Star Trek. Season one is in the CAN, but there was a much talked about moment in the season one finale. In the last seed of Star Trek Card, where we saw seven of nine Jeri Ryan and Roffe. Played, by the Amazing Michelle Hurd holding hands at a table. And look like they were playing a game or something holding hands, and this caused a lot of discussion. And Jerry Ryan recently confirmed on twitter. That seven of nine is bisexual. and this guy, a lot of people talking about what the future might hold for seven of nine and Roffe. heather. How did you feel one about seeing that scene in Picard? To Jerry Ryan, confirming the seven of nine is bisexual and three. What what do you see for the two of them going forward? I I. Loved that scene I and I mean it's just such a tiny little thing, but it's something that I picked out right away when I was watching that episode number like Oh, my gosh. It's amazing. It, it's really seven. Being an Jerry, confirming that seven is bisexual. It makes me feel so good inside to be honest, and I am been a big supporter of the fact that seven being bisexual card is natural. It's not something that came out of nowhere. It it's something that seven as a character, when on her own identity journey, which we didn't see because there have been twenty plus years since we lost Saul her on Voyager, and when we first met seven, she was disconnected from the Board for the very first time. Since before she was a little child, so she never had the opportunity to go on her own relationship, journey and understand. What she would sort of identity she was and she she was finding her own identity, and yes, in voyager we saw her. have relationships with men. We saw her go on dates with other men We saw her in a relationship with TOCO TO A. But that doesn't mean. That she can't love women as well. Because when you look at it as she never got to go through the pubescent experience of. Being a teenager or high schooler and Just having all those hormones and not knowing which way they go from here or there. So she doing this as an adult. And yes, when we first meet her is. She has relationships with men, but somewhere between where we left her on Voyager, and where we meet her on Picard, she has gone on this identity journey, and she realizes that she loves women just as much as she can love men. And I, it it. It's not something that comes out of nowhere because it's a journey that a lot of bisexual. have. BEEN, on! So. It's something that we can relate to. And when people online, who is the third going? Why didn't they mentioned Kota and she always liked men. Why does she just like women now? Hold on, don't have to. Question, did you actually see that out there? Yeah Yeah I mean I. I've really got into it with a few people who were very adamant. Because? Takata wasn't brought up at all in picard that seven's identity as bisexual, and Picard is invalid in. It's not the same character that they knew. And it's. It was really hurtful to me. To See people say that, because even when I'm trying to talk to them as a bisexual woman as someone who has been on that journey, who has only dated then I've never dated a woman, but that doesn't make me any less bisexual because I can tell you right now I. Find Women Attractive I've just never been on a date with one. And it it's it's hurtful to see people who. Just clean that that that's not a thing. Is like they're looking at your own identity and going here in Hunt Valley because you can sit there and say you like women, but you've never been on a date with a woman. and. Seven, only been in relationships with man, so her going on a date with a woman isn't valid right now because I. don't believe it. It, it's I. saw many comments like that and. It it. It really struck a chord with me. Because I related to seven journey. and to see people invalidating. Her character's journey just because they couldn't relate to it. Is Part of the issue when we talk about. Queer representation, and that's what I. That's what my start swearing at people. For the new listeners, since this is the that new wage of Star Trek I'm the one that's not afraid to swear, so yeah, the the idea that this was happening, I it really is. Antithetical. To, what Star Trek has shown us for years and years and years It reminds me of the episode of the next generation where vader the enterprise a met the aliens that were genderless, and we'll writer Had something with one of them where he he was attracted to this alien, but also at the same time realized it was genderless, and it wasn't exactly on the. At the time, the gender binary that we know and he was open about okay I might mess this up a little bit, but it doesn't make you any less valid but i. want you to know that I'm trying. And it's kind of strange to me. That, this would cause that kind of reaction within star Trek fans, because it's always been about the things that we may not necessarily understand and trying to understand them better. Jerry Ryan confirming that seven of nine is bisexual was. Good enough for me Yeah! We saw her relationship with Chico Tei on Boyer. Who's to say that. Liking women is something that any of us that. Have that certain preference wouldn't change in twenty years. WHO's to say? And I really don't understand why. Someone would have a problem with that it's..

"Heather I think that given the deck symbian given every. I feel like there's a ton we could explore with essary. How did you feel about her? I definitely feel like there was a lot to explore with Ezra and like I said I I really enjoyed her as a character a lot more than Because one of the things she really struggled with without Blake you saw, and I talked about earlier about how jet Zia went through the training, and this was the identity that she chose for herself because she she wanted to be a joined trill as we didn't have that opportunity, she really got thrown into the situation where. Is She had to take the symbiosis in order to save its. otherwise DAX would have died an all of the memories of the Six hosts that came before her would have died along with him, so is she? Really got put between a rock and a hard place, and she ultimately saved. The symbiosis life by joining with, but then she goes through a process of really having to discover who she is now that she's a join trill rather than who she was beforehand. When she was enjoying and just a regular person. Working on being a counselor, On a starship, having no interest whatsoever in having a symbiotic with. Multitudes of other hosts memories inside of her. So that's one of the things including a former husband that was right there on the station. Definitely, so that's one of the things I really appreciate about as journey. Is that her? Her entire journey through season seven is kind of finding out who she is now. With as as redacted set, of Ezra, Teagan and like you see her go through the process of dealing with the different memories, and not knowing where they came from, and like them, putting these rectal Gino in front of her, her being like Oh this is disgusting. I don't like reacted Gino drinking it. Dealing with And feelings towards warf and realizing that ultimately, not her own. Feelings. That? They were coming from her former host and having to deal with that and and just sort of. Figuring out her own identity, and and that's. Like I talked about earlier when I started talking about Jesse the something. A lot of queer people go through is is finding their own identity. In the feelings that they have like I'm. Almost thirty three years old. And I didn't completely come out to myself. Really admit to myself that I was queer until I was thirty. So it. It's a journey that a lot of queer people can relate to that. They have all these feelings and they don't know what to do with them. And they have to figure out how that fits into them and their identity as a person, and as we really exemplifies that. and. We both agree that there's plenty of room to explore that beyond. Yes, nine a let's move into new business where we talk about things that are happening in be current star trek world whether it's Discovery Picard. Maybe even the J.J Abrams movies. We throw those in there, too, but right now we're gonNA talk about star. Trek, discovery, we're all. Excited for season three and on the podcast we've been doing sort of a character by character. Glimpse into what we think might happen for season. Three are our character predictions. Three Star Trek discovery in this episode coinciding with Pride Month theme is the guy that is a my favorite character in star trek discovery the scientist behind the spore drive Lieutenant Commander Pulse Damn it's. My favorite character in discovery, but heather I'm going to let you go first. We're talking about season three of discovery What are you seeing repulsed? Well standards is ironically also my favorite character in star trek discovery while. I I have never related to a character on such personal level as I have with. Stem it's there's so many different things about him that are. That I see in myself and. I want to see so much more One of the big things that I would love to see in season. Three is him. Dealing with his connection to the sport drive. And the my seal network and the abilities that having tar grade, DNA and himself gives him, and what makes him stand out from other people and how he can use them to help the ship in different situations, and you see 'em deal with that a lot in season one when he. Gets to the Mirror Universe and has to figure himself. Back out and he's. blacking out and seeing the two different universes. You don't really see a lot of that in season two. There's only one episode where his. Ability to. The different timelines Is used to help them. Get Out of that time. Vortex traps time bubble thing that Captain Pike. and. Ask Tyler were stuck in so I would love to see them for more of that side of stem. It's because I think that's an area where. He can excel. Just to. Really show off not just to his scientific stuff, but but show off the different abilities that he has as a person now because he possesses tar degrade DNA. Other than that I. Think Him and colder it deserves. A nice loving happy relationship. But I, wish that for everyone on discovery and have a quite happened yet. We're GONNA get there eventually. Just want them all to be happy. but yeah, the that's my I wouldn't necessarily call it a pre predictions because i. Not Quite sure where where they're headed with him in season three, but that's what I would love to see. I definitely have an idea. I think I really do. And I'm to really deep dive here because. As I've said pulse damage is my favorite character in discovery I think his personality is one that I really really connect with his story arc over just the two seasons of discovery is absolutely phenomenal. I think he's had more depth and and. Character growth in events happen to him in two seasons of Star Trek discovery the I think I've seen for maybe any star trek character. He's been through a lot in two seasons and come out of it. In one piece with a little bit of Tardy Gray. Is really a testament to how well written and how deep character he is, and I see season three..

"I had an idea for a theme. For this week. So for anyone who doesn't realize June is pride. Month all where we celebrate the LGBTQ plus community. And so that's going to be the theme of our three sections. Today is talking about some pride and some queer representation in Star Trek. So I want to wish everybody here a happy pride months while the listeners and trekkies everywhere so for this episode everybody and for new listeners we do old business. A new business in upcoming does S so for this episode I'm GonNa. Do a little bit of hanging back I'm GonNa let Heather take the con- Heather Bridge for this episode, and let's get a startup with the old business. All right so old business old business section where we dive into what we might call vintage trek. That's anything from the. Enterprise and before? So the series of the ninety s as well as the sixties today in old business, we are going to be talking about a certain character who also resides on deep space nine with us on the promenade. Her name is Jesse Dax well, not just. because. We're going to be talking about DAX in general. DAX is kind of the epitome of pure representation on Star Trek before star trek discovery. So. Sorry caught me. there. Was No problem then taking command. I. Guess I was trying to be an ally. And letting you take this episode since it is pride month, and this is your idea, but yeah like Heather said Jazzy decks of the operations officer on ds nine Benjamin Cisco's old friend. The trill joined trill that has lived seven lifetime's some with men some with women, and if you remember from the what we left behind documentary, our bear made a point to. To say that in regards to DAX. He wanted to bring up the issues of gender identity and sexuality through jet Zia on ds nine and I will ask you heather. You feel about how they did with the nine. And what are some of the things about decks regarding queer issues that that stood out to you particularly I think. One of the biggest things about DAX and trill in general is really their identity. That's something that a lot of queer people can relate to is kind of how to find the identity of themselves, and that's something that a lot of trill or at least join trill. Have to do in order to deal with the symbiosis. Their past lives, and all the memories that they carry with them is that they still have to find their own identity, and where they stand, and a Dachsie is really a shining example of that Because at least when you look at judge via. She had to go through the training. She actually did it twice because she got washed out the first time. and decided that this this was the identity for her, and so she believed in that enough to go back through the training to finally be joined. And you see like one of the episodes I watched leading up to knowing talk about this is. facets where she gets to actually meet all the other DAX hosts. During the trill! Ceremony. And so you see how like just little things from different hosts. imprint on her identity and how she carries herself. But then also how? After, she's become join. All all these host memories are part of her, and so it it feels like she's missing something without them and I think that's one of the. Big reasons why people can really relate to DAX as a whole. Because they understand that identity journey, and what it feels like to not completely feel whole because you're not living, you're true life. You're keeping a part of yourself from people because you don't want to be rejected or you don't want to be misunderstood. So The that's one of the the big ways the the the more subtle ways why DAX as a character relates to acquire representation I mean you can talk about the obvious one which is that? I'm GonNa Blink on her name but DAX's former wife con. I've believe a believer in the. Last name was con. That was episode seventy eight of nine rejoined where jet Zia now in the jets Zia host for the Jackson Beate, a ran into a past lover of one of the hosts, Lenora Con-, that's who it was. an are condos one of. One of Kerr's on's old flames curbs on. No, no, no. Not Curbs on Tobin. Toby Toby thank fault okay? It! It was the pilot who died in a crash unexpectedly was. Her former husband, the narcotic husband. And so open was a man. And now jazzy Jessia is a woman. And it was specifically said that one of the things in society is that joined trill in new house are not allowed to interact with people from lives of past house that that was a big rule in Trill, society and on this episode. Spoiler alert everybody. DAX broke some rules. Always the rule breaker old man. but yeah heather. We were just going to talk about this episode. rejoined. I'm guessing you wanted to bring this episode up, so I'll let you cover it. I I mean. Yeah, it's definitely like I, said I talked about the more subtle ways. Were taxes clear representation? This one is obviously not so subtle. It's the very first. Same Sex kiss on Star Trek. Between Lenora Khan and judge the tax, and it's really an important moment especially for time that it aired. I mean at aired during the nineties where that's queer representation wasn't as prominent on TV as it is nowadays so to see. A mainstream show like star trek be willing to fully go there and show the two women even though she used to be a man, still have the same feelings for and. For each other, and it's just an ultimate representation of the fact that love is love. Love doesn't hold a boundary on gender It doesn't matter whether it's a man and a woman. Or both a man and a man or woman or Alien We're talking. Or klingon considering we're talking about Star Trek here love is love, and this is the one true example. As much as people can sit there, and theorize about also, it's of head canons between different Star Trek character isn't whether they're really queer or not. This is the one should example that jed the. As a whole was definitely a queer person. and. That's okay, even though she broke so many rules when it comes to trail society that still okay. It together old man. Is She. In this episode, she considers literally giving up her entire career just to be. With this woman and I think that's. Really a powerful choice because that's also something. That! A lot of people have to consider in their lifetime whether you're in a heterosexual relationship or not, sometimes you have to choose between a career and a relationship and. It's a hard choice. It really is because. There is. You really have to sit there and figure out. How much that love really means to you and it. It's something that a lot of people can relate to and I don't fall judge for. Choosing her career ultimately. But it a powerful episode. It's one that a lot of people turn to especially when they look at at at Dax and how. She's impacted them. And it, it's a shining moment in star trek especially in the Rick Berman era where. Queer Representation. Could have should have shown up a lot more, and this is the one example where it did actually breakthrough so. and that's fantastic. It really is. As, we know Jet Zia. Did find love. In Lieutenant Commander Warf as he arrived on ds nine they eventually got married. But Jet Zia was lost in the dominion. War and later on a during the Dominion War Jazzy had died the deck Symbian was transferred to as Teagan. someone who was trilled. Trained and ready to be joined at the time. I've said on previous episodes I. I'm a big as redecked guy. I would love to see in newer incarnations of Star Trek to see a return of Ezra Dax, pink nets, a character that only got one season, and there's a ton you can explore with that..

"I I believe that the new show that they're putting out that they're all star trek that yes there. There is a place for a show that is similar to the Star Trek Series. That came before in the nineties and in the sixty S. But I don't like the classification of a classic Star Trek Show Because that determines that there's something wrong with discovery and Picard because they're not like their usual star Trek shows in its all star trek so that's kind of where I stand on it. I'm still going watch the show and I'm sure I'm still going to enjoy it and I. I'm going to find a point down the road where I get excited about it but right now I'm just not there okay. No I'll let you know we're not nearly as far off from one another as as we both might have originally assumed because on the one thing I will completely agree with you on The way that a lot of Star Trek fans were clamoring for this show. I found her really off putting a was. I interested in the idea. Yes but I was not screaming for it. In fact on several occasions on Star Trek facebook groups and in on the Star Trek read it and a few other places I would ask people the question. Do you really want this series or is it just that you've really really hate discovery and I challenged people to answer that question and a lot of people more often than not said that they do like discovery and I really liked discovery. A lot too. I absolutely do. I can already say some parts of Star Trek Discovery. Both seasons have already really just made me love star trek more than ever. It's it's been a part of my life since I was a child but I love it now more than ever a but yeah I love Star Trek discovery but I also said to people How much of this is a cover for the fact that they really didn't like discovery at all but they just didn't want to say that out loud And that's what I think was the beginning of what became strange new worlds number two. Yes Anson Mount Ethan. Pack and Rebecca. Romaine all did a great job with their characters and I absolutely loved the short trek that they did. And I'm hoping that we see Cadet Terrassa do as well in the future in straight to new worlds. Maybe she'll be an incident. I hope she is I'm a big Rebecca Romaine Fan. I've loved her in just about everything she's ever done She is my mystique As far as that goes and just anything else she's ever done. I I love Rebecca Romaine. I think she's extremely talented. And I I have faith in her playing this role. It's not something any of us have really seen a lot of We only saw the character number one really in the cage. That's really only what we've seen a per- Kind of Christopher Pike. In some ways these are two characters that have mythos to them but they have not really been fully fleshed out yet. I'm looking forward to that. And I think that the the people that got Anson Mount and Rebecca Romaine would not have made those choices to get them if they didn't know that those two actors weren't capable of doing the job which brings me to my third point and I want to speak to everyone out there that has problems with who quote unquote new track and the modern trek. The ones that really don't like discovery or really don't like card. The ones that are clamoring for a pike series so they don't have to a so they can ignore discovery and Picard. I want to say to them that it was Alex Kertzman. Who made this happen? It was the same people that wrote and produced and directed all the things. You don't like in Star Trek discovery that made Anson Mounts Christopher Pike. It was the same people the same writers the same producers that made those characters. It was the same people. So if you're really that upset about what discoveries ruining star Trek or Picard isn't what it was supposed to be in Blah Blah Blah. Just keep that in mind when strange new worlds starts. Because this is what you wanted. This is what you asked for. And if you have a problem with this too well then maybe it's just time for you to move on and maybe you just can't accept that. In the coming years there will be different star trek series with all sorts of different flavors. There will be an episodic series that like discovery and that was D. S. nine back in the day for people that want to say it's not like old trick low d. s. nine was an exotic series. Two Dummies Picard it will be a mix of being a a character study while also touching on the Star Trek Universe as we currently know it The upcoming season of discovery will be way in the future. And we don't even know what that's going to be yet which will talk a little bit about with Seru in a little bit when we talk about discovery season three And I just feel like there is going to be in. I think that Alex Kertzman and the Brain Trust Steve. Es have done a really good thing here and that they are creating something within star Trek where each thing will have a different flavor. And I think that's really interesting. It really takes the idea of infinite diversity in infinite combinations and kind of put it out there for everyone to to enjoy and I know that I'm going to check out all of them. I'm going to check out every bit of Star Trek Media. That comes out soon and I'm excited. I can say that. I'm excited for strange new worlds. I'm definitely not as excited as a lot of people. I think when when it came out and I tweeted about it. I was more shocked than excited because I was actually surprised that I know. Alex Kurtz Minute COMECON and a few other places was like. Yeah we we're thinking about it. We're talking about it. We're thinking about it but the fact that it's actually happening that really surprised me because while on one hand I agree with you heather completely. I agree with you. Completely kind of bowing to fan. Demands sets a precedent and. I don't think that's a direction you can always go in. Where I do see is that these are really good actors who food on really good performances and everything from the current era of star. Trek has shown me Whether it's Eugene roddenberry whether it's the team in discovery whether it's Michael Boban Picard that they've got some really strong writers and some really strong storytellers Working with Star Trek Right now and when you've got who really good actors and really good writers and you've got a business model. I think that Alex Kertzman made a business decision and said yeah. This will be a good thing and sometimes you have to take. What looks like a no brainer and just kind of run with it so I know. I'm I'm waffling here and I'm saying I'm in the middle but I know I'm interested in seeing what they do i. I'm interested in strange new worlds. I'm not as excited as a lot of other people but but I will definitely be excited to watch it in fact heather. I'm going to go a little bit further. I'm GONNA say some really crazy. I I dare. Cbs Put Star Trek strange new worlds on their television network. Unlike to see if they really think that this is what fans have demanded and fans of wanted. Put It on the network. Don't put it on. Cbs All access. Put It on network television. Put it in Prime Time Network television. It can be Sunday night can be Thursday. Night can be Wednesday night or somewhere. You really think that this is. This is going to be big. You really want to see how the fans feel. Let's do it old school. It's star Trek back on prime time. Television see what happens well. I'm not certain they're going to go that far. Because I thought they would at least premier On the network like they did with discovery and they didn't do it so I I don't know everything's in the air when it comes to network tv right now and when she'll actually Produced but I do have one other thing a positive takeaway from strange new worlds. And this will kind of segway into what we're going to talk about next. But I think the the one good thing about having a show with Pike in number one spot on the enterprise that set in the timeframe that the discovery left is that they have an opportunity to take all the characters the smaller supporting characters that we met in discovery and bring them back on strange new worlds. I would love to see more of Lorell because Mary Chief. Oh is musing and deserves to still be part of our star Trek family I would love to see more of Ash Tyler section thirty one because I believe ultimately that will somehow tie into Michelle IOS section. Thirty one show. I've above to see more of like amazing smaller characters like Po and Seru Sisters of Ron. What's going on with the Kelvin's and even I mean captain. Pike Meeting Harry Mudd. Come on now. That would be gold. Yeah I I mean they have an opportunity and take characters that they already introduced discovery. That you know you're not gonNA see on discovery again because discoveries in the far future and bring those characters back on strange new world so. I hope that they consider that when they're writing stories for the Enterprise Group and you know what you just reminded me of something that I think is really good when it comes to the characters and strange new worlds. I really appreciate the fact that Star Trek fans have really taken a positive reaction.

She was worried about what would happen to them if she got divorced if she left her husband Craig C. Like a lot of women that I know like myself from the moment that Glennon had her three babies she put their needs ahead of her own and then one day one day after she knew she was in love with Abby. She looked to her daughter. Thought I'm staying in this marriage for her but what I want this marriage for her and that's when she started to realize that are responsible. Mother doesn't stay and slowly die for her kids. That's when she knew she had to tell Craig she had to tell Craig that she was in love with happy. As soon as I really owned it for myself I decided okay. I actually don't know Craig the rest of my life. I don't know him the rest of my life. Actually don't buy that anymore. But I do owe him complete Aussie so the second that I knew I sat down and said here's the deal and told him everything and this was before we had even touched before we had even been in the same room before any of it. And because I knew I remember talking to My sister about when I was about to tell him and I knew that chances that abby and I would be together forever get married. Not Strong. Like didn't have the chances were good. Lolo low percentage but I knew that it was like when you find the thing. You can't pretend that the thing you have is thing anymore like I couldn't pretend anymore that this love that I had imagined wasn't real like I knew it would. It was real and so I knew that I had to leave my marriage regardless of whether this was going to work out or not. Glennon told Craig and he was quiet and then he said to her three years ago. You gave me more grace than I deserved. He was talking about his own infidelities he continued. Now I'm going to return it to you. I want you to be happy. They ended up telling their kids together once she told Craig Glennon felt like she could finally see Abby in person again after we had gone through having hard conversations with Craig I flew to Los Angeles because Abby was getting an award from. Espn this is like the end of her career. And I just felt like I really wanted to be there as the beginning so I flew to La and we had both blowing up our lives and we headed never been in the same room together alone. And I had I just remember like landing the landing on the plane and thinking I have never even kissed a girl before. Like what am I like? Whoa what's about to happen you know and I walked into the room. It was really great and I'll just leave it at that nerve wracking right meeting somebody for the first time for the like. You've professed love to this person. You know you want this person forever but you've never really been in physical contact so it's scary as hell. We were like the original. Love is blind now. I mean it's terrifying. It's like really scary because you're like what if this doesn't work. It's almost like an arranged marriage. We arranged ourselves and we find ourselves in this moment but luckily everything fed and everything was great and it was awesome. We were a match. I don't know I just. I'm so grateful that Glennon could find a way to open herself up to the possibility of true romantic. I Like I love like Love what is it When you see somebody for the first time Lineman let it say Yeah Lake. I'd always believed in it. I always knew she was out there. He's the CHEESIEST ROMANTIC. Her favorite movie is the notebook. Of course it is kidding. Everybody's every number. I'm telling you literally I find you dead. I will lay next to you and I will be on second. I know you will were Juliet and Juliet. I had never considered that. It will be with a woman. I think that's one of the reasons why I trusted it. So much is because I wanted abby and it was the first time that I had wanted anything beyond what I had been conditioned to what and I loved her and it was the first time I had ever loved anyone beyond the people had been expected to love. And that's why I trusted that it was completely and totally for me right because everybody else in my life was like no no no no no no and I was like Right perfect perfect but yeah I mean I think that. That's that experience with Abby. I mean we're we're given one version of family. That's supposed to be the perfect. Will I had the little perfect family? That looked perfect from the outside is the ideal nuclear family right and it didn't fit it all and now we have this family with two moms and died dads and you know their best friends good friends and like the kids are all over the place and it looks so different from the outside and it fits US perfectly Glennon and abby new from the very beginning that they wanted to get married that they needed to get married. We never we wanted to be married like we. We were obsessed with getting married. I think it's so funny because it's like so we're so like anti patriarchy in so anti liberated and all of these things and yet we were desperate to get married like. I don't think we couldn't handle. We couldn't breathe like you say lose legally bound to you. Yeah she just you always say you wanted it to official that. I couldn't move quit. Which is hilarious. Both of us were married before we makes no real sense. Yeah you just want it to be. You want it to be difficult as possible. I think the reason why I wanted to be married. So bad is not because I believe in institutions that created marriage for the most part I don't believe in institutions themselves or church or religion. Even I think that the you know God is God. And you don't need religion to tell you a goddess but when it comes to like this ritual and this right because we weren't and gay people have always been in had the opportunity to be married because that was like really an option on the table. Now I wanted to somehow normalize because homosexuality has not always been normal right like it's always been normal but it's never been it hasn't always been viewed as you'd is normal right right right and and I think that I wanted to make clear how serious this was like. If you had turned to me on that day in front of those librarians five minutes after we met and had been like will you marry me? I would have been like yes absolutely. There's some business take care of. Yeah it was Abbey. Who proposed. She did it after. She asked Lennon's parents for permission. She told them. I love your daughter and grandchildren like I've never loved before I've spent my entire life searching and preparing myself for them. I promise you that will love and protect them forever. Glennon's mothers response was abby. I've not seen my daughter this alive since she was.

"I've never even kissed a girl before. Like what am I like wh what's about to happen? We became originally fast. Friends are secretly in love with her and I guess the rest of they say is kind of history. I just knew like women just know that whatever I had experienced in that room with abby and he'll be had grown to deepen during conversation and letters that we'd written to each other was the kind of love that I was actually looking for that I thought was fake. Glennon dial was still married to the father of her three children. When she met Abby Wambach she saw abbey across the room and felt something that can only be described as love first sight. Now glennon didn't think it was possible to be with abby to leave her husband to be with a woman to blow up the carefully curated life that she had been taught she was supposed to have but she did it anyway and it wasn't easy because life is an easier simple but it was possible. Clinton realized it was possible. That's when she began the live the truest and most beautiful version of her life. Abby looks at me one St Aengus. I can't. I can't believe you married. I just give you one sentence. Does she says the most often to me. That's it and I do too like. We can't believe we're married. I'm telling you literally I find you dead. I will lay next to you and I will be the second. I know. You Will Juliet and Juliet. I'm so grateful. I'm glad that you WANNA wake up with me. Yeah I'm Joe. Piazza this.

"Rangers video game. That's what I want like if you give. Cbs or whomever a big triple a video game budget and have Jerry Ryan doing all of like the motion capture and voice work. You see in like a big video game. I will play that till the end of time. I want like a a single player action space ship Sifi Ferris Rangers Star Trek video game. And and I feel like that would be incredible Could it be a TV series? Absolutely but I really think what they've done is on top of a main star trek story with the main card storyline. They've put a lot of really good things under it that they'll be able to move forward with in. I think that was really well done. I think a lot of people are saying that they want to know more from these characters. They want to see more from this universe. They want to see more from what is happening in this timeline. And that's the best thing you can hope for with your first season is that you want that people wanna see more and I think card pretty much nailed it. I've really enjoyed the hell out of first season and I'm excited for when it comes back. I agree with you that one of the things kind of set out to do was get people excited about other characters and people wanting to know more because one of the things I've said like even before he's into discovery when people started clamoring about a Christopher Pike show as a you know the next live action show that they're actually going to confirm in. My opinion is going to be a spin off from Picard. It's GonNa take someone anyone doesn't I couldn't even begin to speculate. Which character is going to be your group of characters but I honestly think that they are planning in their ultimate scheme of things to have a spin off show from the series To help advance this universe forward so I'm looking forward to that I am. I just realized something that that I forgot for half a second. Even in episode eight nepenthes. Easy will reicher even said that he still on active reserve. Which really is just another seat to plant We've still never seen at least in television. We've still never seen the USS Titan. And I know a lot of people myself included want to see the US Titan and the idea of Reicher and Deanna. Troi being this husband. Wife Leads Star. Trek series is really really fun to me. I would love to see that I agree. I definitely agree in that. That's the so many different threads they could pick out of all this talk about feels good to talk about how many things are possible. There really is. I mean you can even look at the fact that for season two of Picard which is coming the. They did confirm that. That Patrick Stewart basically invited will be Goldberg to come back and guidance even to which is a whole mother Fred of possibilities. Bility's that we can see without excited for so and they've pretty much said all but officially that Georgia forge was part of a utopia plenty show on Mars. So it's entirely possible. He'll be there too so we might see Lavar Burton like honestly it. It's so cool that were in this age where there are so many different things that star trek could do and it really started with. Star Trek Discovery. Which is which is really amazing to save. Given how polarizing it was when it started and now it's opened up reopened up an entire universe of of a franchise worth of content But gotta say let's we're GONNA move into upcoming business and talk about discovery a little bit. I probably liked star trek discovery season one more than most and I thought it ended really really strong star Trek Discovery Season. Two was universally praised for more than just Captain Pike. I believe and season three a recently wrapped as the members of the casts have said. And it's a little weird I. I'm wondering where's that season. Three premiere date for Star Trek Discovery. Feel like we should have gotten a buy now. Don't you I? I think we should have gotten it by now to If you look at the production time between when the series wrapped and when the show premiered in season one season two with both like about a month not even a month So the season three raft the end of February. And we're now close to the end of March and we don't have a day and the one thing I've been seeing online. Is that a lot of the cast. Members are saying well they're still working on special effects and doing home now because the pandemic so it's going to take longer I don't know if that's a You know I didn't even think about that. Yeah I mean that's definitely cause delays but I think it is one of the things once sniff figure out how long it takes two to complete an episode. Like they can still figure out when they're going to premiere it because a lot of a lot of times with these shows like even they don't have to have the entire season completely finished by the time they premier as long as they can still work on it and they have everything finished by the time. Each episode airs isn't how Kinda felt that way with season one. Yeah if I remember. It felt like they were still maybe be in production or post production when season one started. That's the impression that I got exactly. And they had to be that way with season two two because I mean you can do raft at the end of December and then premiered on January the seventeenth. So that wasn't even like two weeks. They had to still be pros production for some of the later episodes things so I honestly had this theory in my head that instead of lake making some big announcement about the premier date for season three of discovery. They're just 'cause netflix started to do this with some of their shows. They just kind of announced like two weeks ahead of time. Oh the premier's coming in two weeks. I think they're going to do that with these three of discovery. Okay I have the ANC. Heather getting an. Yeah Yeah but I. I have this theory in my head. 'cause the season finale The card is next week. I think at the end of the season Finale Picard. We're going to get a new trailer attached to the end of the episode for season three in Discovery. And we're GONNA get day 'cause 'cause it does look cool season. Three does look cool. More where we're going way into the future and we're seeing the remnants of the federation. I'm I'm really intrigued by that. It just feels like there's they've got some really good writers doing some really interesting things with Star Trek and I'm really interested in that. Yeah it season three discoveries headed into all new territory. I I mean it's even farther in the future than what Picard is now so the the world and the Federation as we now at and the planet as we know it of the universe can be entirely different. The galaxy is their voice ter- and they can do what ever they want with it so I'm really excited to see where they went with it. And what happens and we're excited for all of you for listening to this podcast. Everybody like I said when we first started out. We're not going to go on too long. We're GONNA try and keep this fairly short sweet heather. Thanks for doing this with me again. It's been fun. It's really cool to talk star Trek with you. I'm excited I'm staying excited. I'm really excited to see. What else comes along Thanks everybody you can follow this podcast at Prom. Tripod. You can get it wherever. Podcasts can be aggregated. It's him apple podcasts. It's in spotify it's everywhere else. Go ahead and give us a a positive review you can do it for Heather If you like Star Trek you can do that for heather give the podcast five stars really appreciate it and again everybody. "What is up everybody and welcome to the anime podcast of some sort. It's exactly what it says. It is and always has been and will be as long as it's still around. I'm David Majors. You probably already know that. My Co Host Jack. Mccallister artist extraordinary. What's Up Jack? Oh It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood just a beautiful full normal day in the neighborhood. Everything's fine everything's fine. Everything's totally normal. It most certainly is so I can't think of a better reason for us to talk about some anime and stuff that anime people like. So let's just jump right in and yes everybody. Yes Jack and I are definitely and I mean definitely talk about sonic the Hedgehog the movie so stick around for that stick and stay in rural. But let's just jump right in Everything is not fine over in Asia. It's not as you probably already know. there is this thing going around called the Corona Virus Yo. Vip It or in China and is starting to spread throughout all of East Asia. And there've been a few documented cases in other parts of the world now when things like this happen and start to spread of course things Pan Icke and unfortunately it's starting to get that way in Japan a certain things. A due to the corona virus outbreak are starting to get canceled including a street. Fiesta Called Nippon Bashi in Osaka Japan. That had an estimated two hundred thousand people attending it There was an event in Tokyo for the final fantasy seven remake the Tokyo marathon and a few different anime series. Currently airing season have been delayed because of this virus and recently the discussion of possibly the twenty twenty Olympics in Tokyo. Possibly being postponed because of this jack before I go into crazy land about this especially related to the Olympics What do you think about this? I I really think it's unfortunate. I mean you know. I won't go into detail but there's certainly been you know some some buzz. You know Everywhere about this disease and I think it does no good to point fingers. It does absolutely zero help to point any kind of a correlation here because there is none so people who wanna play any kind of race card. I'm just saying like how about you but And I know for a fact that certain scientific rail gun is a fairly popular anime. So I'm wondering how fans of the series are are feeling about that. If there's any kind of fan petition going around to help anyone who's affected you know it really makes you wonder about what the you know the community and how everyone is reacting and everything and the best thing to do. I've always believed in any sort of retire situation California faced fires multiple years. The ports is to not panic. The people who will calmly get up and it will Pitch in and help and you know maintaining any kind of order that you can. That will just go along way a in everything but I. This is super tough to even crack. Because you know you think about like when have they delayed the Olympics in recent history and things like that? This is still some fairly dire. It's like this is. It's the this is not something to be lightly. No no this is pretty serious at this point so I will give you the floor but all I can say is that On all kinds of things you know in Japan and you know any anime fans or Tourists otherwise who might feel affected by this either emotionally or even physically. You know the important thing is to just keep a level head as best you can because panic is how epidemics and other worse. Things continue to spread. Well Jack I'm GonNa go with this the only way that I think I can. And that's with dark humor I saw something on the interwebs a couple of days ago in relation to this That I can tie into anime For everyone out there that knows the. The seminal anime movie. Akira or occupy. If your fancy al-Qaeda is a movie Taking place About an apocalyptic event that place before the Tokyo Twenty Twenty Olympics After it was advised to postpone the Olympics Doodo pandemic and when I saw this and realized that the Olympics aren't Tokyo in twenty twenty. And now we have this and now there's a possibility that the Olympics might be postponed and it was like. Oh No that's weird. All of these weird coincidences are happening. Jack I've said many times that I'm looking forward to living in our sci-fi future of not so surely we are catching up in some We're catching up in some dates. In Ace attorney you know. So I think keeping my gravestone on and that wears buzzy case is still at large. But this this is was there. I'm not looking forward to the sci-fi future anymore check. I'm not looking forward to it. This is taking a very eastern. Yes it is Let's talk about Video Games Jack A yield of my time to you. Oh boy well. I'm super happy to once again. Bring it to people's attention so a guy do the most accurate way I can for this Lear I am once again. Asking you supply under hero which has now been released on the PS four xbox one and the switch. I've talked about this before so I just want to say that I certainly appreciate you bringing his game to our attention. before I had mentioned that I sought and If it came out on consoles I would check it out so really want to appreciate you bringing it to our tension. Yes it is true This excellent I would say meadow but not to meditate on action. Adventure Games series such as paper. Mario and the like There's so many different various video game. Mascot Nintendo motifs but more so than that it just feels like this a game made by people who love video games who love telling stories about the hero saving the realm from the king. So if that seems like you're kind of Thing that you've played a dozen times before and you're looking for something fresh to shake it up. I would highly recommend this Like I said Spin it actually there are. There are several different areas in the game that are based off various platforms and there is a section highly reminiscent of sonic that would be jungle area. It's very Green Hill. Know about it do no. I love me some momentum based platforming. Oh yeah this is a very fun game I've seen it when it was still just an hour long demo It was talked about a lot in the speed community. There'll interesting glide technique as you play as a sort of shy guy minion character. That's the whole spin of it. Is that your opinion turned accidental hero. Traversing this mystical realm You've a hood that you can hover around with and and slow your sentences. Such and I could find that that would be a very interesting way to Open up your momentum how your your fall angle is and everything like that so I would highly recommend checking us out. It's got a unique turn based system that pretty much enemies will attack in a set pattern. Almost like it's real time and you get to attack whenever you one With a certain counter attacking's so if you you know attack with the sword count three or so and uh it'll constantly refresh so you'll basically Either be able to spam from the outset or just kind of strategically place out your moves and such. It's very very interesting. And engaging game and I can't say enough about the art style. The soundtrack is also quite exquisite. You can listen to it on spotify if that's your game Which it has been and just so many memorable characters character designs. I'm myself have cost played Mr Stitches from the game Which is the evil boss. Character that you're essentially trying overtake. Who doesn't want to overtake their boss. It's kind of the evil king. Bowser sort This game is also on sale. On the Nintendo's which store I believe for it's Initial release and that will be until The middle of the month the nineteenth of March. So go ahead and get yourself a copy of under hero on. Ps Four xbox one or switch and of course it is also still available on steam very excellent game paper castle. You absolutely just throwing it out of the park and also can I just a shoutout saikin's that's tes why. Casey U H S on both twitter instagram. All kinds of stuff. Because they made my Mr suggests costs play and they have the highest quality stuff so please check them out. Can I get back because I might need some? 'cause play advice again and okay let me make sure that. I actually am Spelling you right as well so okay so I am so. That's T. S. Y. K. C. U. H. S that's psychos. And they are just like I said one of the most amazing a from scratch cost player seem stirs. I know Also made a really ex- lynch while Luigi Leather Jacket for me To represent my love for Mario Kart end it is like an author at garment so yes please check them out I also checked out another game. I just WanNa quick they touch on David. This was another switched release And I like some things about it but there was one thing. Just kinda nibbled at me. But first thing I'll say. Is that coffee? Talk on. The switch is pretty much. Valhalla CYBERPUNK bartending action for coffee addicts instead. So if you like. That is Mike Myers in high drinks instead. I wish you know he's been out of work recently. I think he could do. They not making Shrek six or the remake for awhile so he needs something but eventually Shrek. I guess he does it. Yeah he's still. He's still on Enrique for those unless unless they decided to recast. Anyway WHO'S GONNA? Watch the REBOOT OF SHREK. Probably me but not a not in theaters Coffee Talk is a NEAT little game. Like I said if you've played Valhalla CYBERPUNK bartending action. It's a very similar kind of a game You basically go through a visual novel ask series conversations with various customers of certain walks of life in this rather than a cyberpunk motif which I know. David is quite fond of. It's more of a modern day with dungeons and dragons races kind of deal. So it's like bright but good You know you have. Orcs learning Technological things you meet a programmer and She's Kinda doing her own deal. There's mermaids Nikko Mimi. There is a whole family deal with that situation. That's a lot of fun Elves half elves suck. You buy the whole like and you kind of get to engage in encounter with all of them. The bartender scenes are not the bartender. But you do. The baristas seemed to be a little bit. More than what you might be to me. The I Transformers but It's all very nicely chill and subtly done and you get to make law Tihar. That could not be better but I do have to say. There's one thing that I cannot recommend about this There's various little apps on your phone again like Valhalla. That you can kind of tinker around with like You can look up the various drinks that you can make in the Barista bar and you can also change the BG 'em and check out a in a sort of facebook like APP. You can check out information about all of your customers. And you know as they kind of slowly befriend you and open up to you and stuff There's one that I just cannot recommend. After a certain point even to engage end complete everything the game would have to offer because with visual novel Games. Of course the writing is king you kind of want to See what all the texts that you possibly can't flavor the world there's a writer character named Freya and she's addicted to Espresso..

And you know I I would love to see someone just kind of Gitte but who knows maybe someone's already working on something like that. Be Not Jack. What's up with tokyo-noumea what's you put this in the show notes? What Oh yeah? Oh Yeah David global warming is real. The Year of our base got twenty twenty. It's real it's happening happen. In the end of the world is nigh the planets on fire bill. Nice mad about it There's this little magical girl show that got some some folks Introduced me to early on in my anime career air end the enemy is not not good David and it did not get a good localization this little Manga series with environmental spin on it Got Picked up by four kids for localization and that was localized to us as mew mew. Power David I'm just giving you the pitch. Yes yes you got five girls. Because it's always a team of five girls in Tokyo Japan because we don't have Ronin warriors. They are no and they fall. Victim to genetic experiment. Gone wrong Because of an earthquake and are all injected with the DNA of then Endangered Species of the world and with these new hybrid powers. They became superpower full and fought aliens who were seeking to celebrate the pollution that humans had already put into motion thus far and it was a really environmentally charged Manga. Like and you know the show in Japanese you know in its entirety. It's not really well animated like I said in the colors are Kinda Kinda like bleach levels of. Oh he had orange hair. I think you mean he had dayglo hair. You know like I. It's it's night and day difference quite literally but it but I'd love to see something like this comeback and I feel like moving into talking about our hopes and wishes for twenty twenty. I'm just going to see if I can Stargate make it so. And just wish for a reboot. It's time global. Warming is real or doing when we done it. It's it's it's happening and I'd love to see Japan just Kinda come back out and say hey. Hey you know this is kind of an of a a small classic. 'cause this did relatively well in Japan if I remember like Merch and games and spin offs like there was a lot of stuff I'd like to see this. You know it'd be. It'd be kind of a fun way to fill out a show Joe roster that's pretty much being dominated it by sailor moon and card captors over the last three decades which is just say you know. They're fine. I just think you know there are more timely things to think about and so I just wanted to bring that up and say it's time for the year is Ni- let's do it. Come on Japan hell do it Kamiya Hamming if this were to happen I feel like there's only one person that would lead the DUB if if this were to get an English dub gratitude burke killing Ratatouille Lemberg to in the dump. They'd.

"A lot of people who have been following along Award Jack. It came right out of the stand A lot of people who know me or have been following along. No that Steven Universe is one of those things that I really love to return to to sort of flex my I guess critical muscles and just really pick apart. What a lot of modern animation tends to get wrong now that Steven Universe itself is over and his wrapped up with the movie it still carries over some of its bigger issues that were really evident in the later seasons where nobody and I mean Nobo- nobody in the Phantom liked it And just being on the cusp hospice that you know knowing friends who were there since the beginning and just kinda wanting to see this at end you know eventually like I'm just here to see this is end. I gotta say there have been more instances than not that. I have enjoyed an episode because Yes yes I think a lot of what you've said is right on the nose. They've been a lot more careful and low and a lot more I think conscientious of what they're putting in each episode. I still think that there's some things that need fixing and it's really not. It's something that I think that they're going to be able to do in Steven Universe itself but the first thing David eggs they gotta get longer run time. I think something nothing like Steven Universe Future. That is so intent on having slow moments of character reflection and development. It needs more time time. It needs moments like gravity falls had not to say needs to be one to one but grabby falls has some good moments where you establish the characters use tablets. Is there conflict. You see what they're going on about. You see them kind of internalized things over the course of the episode and it rolls in to something that snowballs and becomes the conflict of the episode. I think some good examples of this word. The Bluebird episode with the Final Confrontation Nation with Greg I think that that was a really good example but it needed a little bit more time. Some breathing room as it were I've mentioned this on my instagram. I am I think they could have really liked that for a couple of episodes even and kind of had like bluebird sort of wandering in the back you know. And and maybe a couple episodes later. The epic portrayal happens but it looks like that character might come back. They're sort of You know again like you say they plant some seeds and things like that another good one was the cat episode. I think just overall when they have it right again they nail everything when they have the gem action the moments of developing Stephen and his internal conflict and his feelings links towards the rest of the cast and his mother The animation has definitely been more consistent. There's been some people have noticed some things but everything so far has not been jarring and horrible like it used to be i. I feel like it could just be a little bit better. And the only reason I say this is because everybody everybody loves Steven Universe and I think when it comes to that you need to realize that you you gotta have someone who is sitting there saying that you know no. It's not that this show can do no wrong. It's that you know the better. It could be great. Oh it could do a lot of wrong and it has But at the end of the day I think my main main problem with it is The thing that carried over the worst is that the gems don't know how to really communicate. Sometimes there will be moments where they just act completely immature and childish and it can be played off for laughs but you start to wonder like you guys lizard thousands of years old and continually bring this up when it matters. Why haven't y'all talk to each other about about this? If it really bothers you that much Kim I throwing ideally bothers. Can I go to guys out there about that One and I'd always heard this a lot with Dr who They're aliens they're aliens so talking to humans is hard for them that would be me talking to each other and two number two Sure they are thousands of years old but on home world and in the Great Diamond Authority there was always a caste system and there was a hierarchy so maybe a only until recently thanks steven they never really. We need to talk to one another. Because of the hierarchy and the gem caste system. Everyone knew their place. Everyone knew their purpose which which is something they talked about which is why little homeschool exists. So maybe they just never had the opportunity to do do those things because it was just never needed until recently. That's a decent point But I think just if if you're talking about a trio as tightly knit as Garnet amethyst and Pearl it just every single time that they always draw this out like sense. The SARDONIC ARC. And I know that's going back to the original Steven Universe but they hit some moments like this in future as well where I just wonder like how hoke the fuck is this. Not come up for Y'all in discussion like even just casually like hey you know I really like when we use the start is but there's really no reason to do anymore anymore. Oh Yeah you're right maybe we just do some dentist you know just for funsies done solved again. I know that that's that example. But if they do now they're totally okay with it. I would be totally okay with that. If they do that for Sun Stone I love the Don. I think they need to do stuff like that. Because like episodes like ah yeah it was just like you really. You really need to talk and I know that part was mostly Stephen needs to be able to. You know talk about things like that and I do say David. I think you're spot on about the fact that this is finally kind of like hitting some pater for some good good good good lessons lessons to teach some youth to think. Hey Hey are you not taking carry yourself. She probably take care yourself issue. Get some damn therapy. I ended like and also yeah. You're fifteen you're sixteen. You're seventeen you're gonNA be going through a lot of changes and you're gonNA becoming in adult soon and he might not see some of your friends that you use to see much anymore. It's GonNa be tough but you're going I'M GONNA have to learn to live with it. Yeah just you know. I I see what they're trying to do for the most part and I really am just giving get the most chances that I can and I am going to see this through to the end I just feel like for the most part it ends up being a very disproportionate pushing a balancing act of okay. Now there's a lot of people talking about their feelings and you do realize you guys are super powerful rocks with magic powers you can solve your problems with okay. You can just talk a little bit because I gotTa say this David. I might sound like a little bit of a child. I'll here but If I make a story about super powerful character Earth's at can shape shift and do anything thing. I think I'm probably going to have them do that a lot. Because that would be fun and good to animate yeah. There is a budgetary standpoint of that. Never refuse to think that there's anyone who you know is maybe on the younger side of the Steven Universe demographic who's watching this going like. Oh Yeah Yeah I'm I'm down for this But you know that. That's that's more of a minor. Gripe I get that they're in an epilogue so it is a bit more con- conversational. The part of me just thinks every once in a while like you guys are powerful alien but then you get episodes like Stephen Tag. It ends up all right so you know I'm going to give it a B minus right now I'm GonNa give Steven Universe Future A. B. Minus. See me after class. We got some things to work out. But I'm rooting for you. And I think you can do better. I am giving Steven Universe Future. Abi I'm saying good work I feel like could by the end of the semester. You'll have it figured out and you'll be all right. I think we're in in for a good finale. Whatever whatever's going to happen of a finale that we can actually start seeing Yes they're actually planting seeds for for how about that. Can you please end end and well. I feel like you know there there were. There's some good points where they could've ended like Jean language virtue. Tom Seen In. Change your mind look you adventure tie It's like the the animated n sequence in. Change your mind I gotta say like it could have ended their absolute. I would have been happy. That is undeniably the best sequence in Steven Universe bar none but you know then the movie happened and that wrapped up things pretty well too. WHO and they said? Yeah we're GONNA keep going on with Steve Even Universe Shipton and Steven Doc Steven Universe guy it. I don't know I actually. That's a joke. I always say but I really would love to see Steven Universe Guy. You know maybe twenty thirty years down the line someone says you know. This should have been twenty. Two minutes should have been twenty two minute episodes and we should have Actually known what we were doing from the beginning and they can go in they. Can you know actually establish some stuff that can you know pretty it up a little bit. Make season for not look like such hot garbage edge.

"Was like. Oh yes Jesus yes we totally have gargoyles guys are bad. Sorry that was that was not on purpose. And that's kind of how I feel Gargoyles Justice League Avatar the the animated shows that can tell a story without it being Kooky wacky. We had that with thunder cats. We we had that with teen titans. Now we don't and let me preface this and saying I like teen titans go and and I'm a grown ass man in my thirties. I like team Tyco and go see the movie and was fine. It was it was but I do think that that we still have a market for action animation. That tells you a story. I definitely think it's still out there and seeing an thunder cats roar such as it is it just reminded me of how bummed I was that thunder cats In twenty eleven got cancelled the way it it did not just that just bumped me out aside from the fact that well once again. It kind of looks like Oh K. K. O. Two point. Oh Um I I gotTa Tell You David I think what cartoon network and you know this goes on to my favorite scapegoats show as well which I I think we might discuss a little bit. But cartoon network has ideas but then when it goes into SUV finally putting them into practice into fruition and completion execution. They're just not taking the right direction with any of their projects. I don't think you know you have something like adventure time which is just spread out and there's too much that you're trying to juggle in the air. There's too many characters. The Art Direction Literally Ruins Your House style for decades which shouldn't have because the the entire channel was you know one show after the next look completely different and you know the genre wasn't Kooky action adventure comedy all the time. Oh man you know moving moving forward into that I. I'd like to see you know with this. New Change in leadership see more more focused You know show runners. That may be. Don't just have. Hey I have this idea for the ending of season one with this one character but but I don't know how the four main cast are gonNA fully developed or if they've ever discussed any kind of conflicts at length and yes vegan about Steven Universe. So let's just jump in On gotTA everybody Jack my was still talk every now and then and one topic that kept coming up. We'll Steven Universe I think both jacket I have varying opinions On Steven Universe and I will say inbetween US doing the podcast. The Steven Universe movie came out and now we've entered Third Steven Universe Future. I really enjoyed the movie. I think that it tied up a lot of loose ends. It gave us a character in spinal that was obviously very popular. If you went to any conventions in two thousand nineteen and I thought the music was pretty league good overall maybe not. I'm decent and best. That has come out of that franchise but pretty good overall. I enjoyed it quite a process to The diamonds Andrew Sisters. Oh my gosh number because I gotta say It took me a minute to to realize that. That's what they were. You know taking a mosh because if it's not completely blatant with this show it can get really vague but the show is really good that stuff and then there are moments where it where Steven Universe is almost family guy. In how obvious it's references are ELA ned. I'm GONNA talk about. Yeah let's talk about it talk about Steven Universe Future I think you might have stronger opinions on Steven Universe future than I do but I will say that I am enjoying dare I say the crew at Steven Universe future doing something called foreshadowing towing and storytelling how that you don't see that much anymore in American annexation foreshadowing and storytelling and having a bit of a message message dare I say As we know with Steven Universe Future Stephen is now sixteen years old. He use seventeen now actually so so he. He's a young adult. He's growing up and I I think about the the kids who are growing up. WHO started watching Steven Universe when they were young and I really hope that they're watching this show and it is helping them with growing growing up because they're seeing Stephen go through these things where people are moving on with their lives? Relationships are changing and Stephen. Even in some ways is growing up himself he's running low homeschool The crystal gems aren't really kind of they're still trying trying to mom him a little bit and he's getting a little tired of it like hey I'm growing up. I'm seventeen I can. I can be my own man and in some ways and he still has has his relationship with his father episode. Stephen Tag was a great episode in the Hitomi of their comedy. Mixing exciting with their filler mixing with character moments in the eleven minute runtime just really really well and keeping some superpower gem action in there like they got everything they checked every check box I think possibly could but that it really hit home the the story points that I'm talking about. It's the one one of Stephen is growing up and everyone is dealing with moving on and growing up in in time in over the last few years like like we all do and also growing up isn't easy and Steven is having a hard time with that that has been the the arc that has been sprinkled throughout the show. That Stephen is having moments where he's having a hard time dealing he can deal at sometimes and he's okay but sometimes he's not and it's getting a little out of control well at times. I like the story that it looks like they're telling I don't want to give this crew and this show too much credit it but it looks like they are putting in things that What I criticised adventure time for? It looks as though Steven Universe future clearly has a plan of where they're going and I can respect that. I can see where it's going and I see the themes in I respect what they're trying to do so so far I'm giving Steven Universe of future thumbs up so far how about you jack. Well.

"To say so what you think of it you know. That's the big joke. That's the big punch line. Is You know I said all that I went in you know saying it might not be that bad and to its. Try to be fair David. It's it's really sad because the set designers the practical effects everything in terms of artistry. They were trying to shoot this. Well they did everything everything. It's got a strong can possibly could. Yeah star-studded Iain McKell everything. The cast is marvel movie strong. It is a WHO's Mu and say you know. Even though I have really strong opinions against her they got Taylor freaking swift to co write a song with android himself so there was a lot going into this. And it's so sad for this Judi dench and it sucks. I mean so the main thing is going into this the visual effects on the cast or not it finished we went into the monster cut because I have a cheap as theatre in town and in the same shot David. This isn't even Steven Universe levels of cut And the character is taller. This is in the continuous shot you are watching of these abominations dancing and making every impure thought you've ever had just recede. You'll never feel sexual again. You will become bay sexual watching this every moment that they move shoe on. No shoe is amazing which is amazing because the main thing that I heard from people watching this movie was the fact that it was completely horny any on main. These are some cornea stats. It's so horny but not good morning. It's not nothing. I can't think of a furry. Who would like this? It doesn't have anything anything that I've ever seen in any kind of anything. In the literal decade that for he is a dominant art scene on the Internet weather. I liked it or not. I can't see anything in those. You know examples in these cats. These are not cads. These are not furry is these are not an throws. They're just some kind of hell beast east made or harm you and make you feel really really uncomfortable about the actors that you once loved. I think I think the mcallen Alan puts it most perfectly when his character forlornly sings. The theater is not what it was and I gotTa say this movie make question Russian. This movie makes me question my belief that Idris Elba can do literally anything. Here's the deal David. People have have tried to make cats. You know emotion picture. There are many people right now who are dragging up concept art from the Steven Spielberg animated production of cats. What's that they were going to do? That was scrapped. And that stuff is damn good if you look at literally any artist anywhere on the Internet who in hasn't hasn't even a passing the interest in the musical. First of all most of us are going to acquiesce. Yeah it's really not that good doesn't really have a story it's whatever but it's really not for anyone but the actors offers you know that all these people signed up onto this because they were able to sing a song about themselves for three minutes and be really aggressively sexual and think that maybe the Mo cap will cover it up but no David. There's just so many messes I don't even know where to begin. Do you just even with the word that it will be getting a I guess. DLC UPDATE as they're calling coming in with with the with the look the visuals being worked on and retooled and fixed. Do you think it will be better. I I think it could be better But it won't change the overall content which I have to say. There's some stuff I mean like. I said the Mo the movement it's the motion or unnecessarily horny not not good Characters wear clothes although most cats are nude and the removal full of clothes which will inevitably happen makes them all the more naked. But David if you've ever looked at Production photos of cats. I can't can't imagine why you but you know if if you ever peruse on Google's like the costumes they have are fine they're obviously you know more more represent representational than actually you know meant to look like literal cats but I really feel like that's really the direction that you have to go and the the sad thing is the kind of do that for some of the characters that are wearing clothes. Clothes like Rebel Wilson's character. Looks like that for a brief moment. I'm and then she takes skin I think the You know the BIC witness Cat that sings memory Marie. which was melodramatic? Dramatic to the point of me. memes status you know as soon as it cued up just thinking to myself. Oh God I i WanNa Laugh so hard food. There's older distinguished jury audience. Were seriously you are witnessing the birth of a medium in real time. Yes I will I will I. I wish I could have been there in the audience when people were at the premiere joker watching Joaquin Phoenix say. Get it but you know I got. I got the constantly surprise. You know I I just. There's so many things I would change that. I don't think that it has a chance of being good but it has a chance of looking the better and all I can say is. It's it's just a shame that Hollywood's just so divided against itself of we should really try and appeal with a musical musical You know the musical lot audience Get their butts in seats. So we'll make everything practical will make everything really well shot and will really put our all into this but we gotta gotta get the normies in the seats. So let's put in some you know Mo- cab Gimmicky visual effects. That are really just GONNA get all those lion king two thousand nineteen fans in the seats like no. You don't have to do that because that seems that were thank you can just because yeah no one wanted that then and no one wants it and now the speaking of Cats David. There's some more ugly cats that are gracing my eyeballs these days. I just saw all this today and I wanted to say about it This new for all of the praise I laid upon cartoon network earlier in the show. They've had a few odds. And I WANNA talk about thunder cats roar. I saw this earlier today. It looks like it just broke it just premiered and the only thing that I could think of was all right well okay. Ko got cancelled put. It looks like everybody on. That show bounced bounced back pretty quickly. 'CAUSE Mama I'm not even on twitter and I remember seat or seeing a a joke. Poll that Ian Jones put up on his twitter of okay what okay. Ko Spin off at my pitching and I think the joke is just smoked. A thunder gets it. Looked like they all bounced back from O. K. K. O.. Pretty quickly because God. Damn oh ooh. That's that's rich that's really and it's so sad because David this is the year that we're finally free of a pretty interesting You Know Oh change of leadership in cartoon network were moving on from the individual who is responsible for introducing live action programming to the cartoon network so I had a good feeling about this upcoming decade for all C. N.. I was hoping maybe they could you. You know move past their proprietary house style that literally. Everything looks like sense adventure. Time and folks I'm GONNA say right. Now here's the T- adventure time is not out of defining decade. I mean y'all are GonNa say it is and it's most certainly is everywhere but it ain't that good. I know it apart eventually now fell apart. I think it could have been two or three different shows. Cut into pieces and reminds among Finn and Jake and tightly I feel like a different art stuff adventure time and this is something that I want to get into with thunder cats adventure time at its core was a show that could have been everything. Justice League was a the action show with story and character and heart and a beginning a middle and an end but it got. I got the impression an with adventure time that it. It didn't really expect to be as big as it was and for maybe the entirety. The of that show. They were really making things up as it went along and it just kind of never really put it together as well well as it could have been and that really brings me back to thunder cats. Go and I have an issue with it. Not just the whole modern modern cartoon network style. I hate to use this word because now it's become derogatory. The the CAL arts movement I I hate using that but it reminded me Jack deer a member in two thousand eleven. It got one season. The thunder cats action action animated series. Got Appropriately enough. A bit of a soft reboot from the original show from the eighties. It was the thunder cats and it was Wilfredo. The Voice Terry McGinnis from Batman beyond playing Leno. And it was. This was a show that was well animated. It was building story. It was building characters and H- Lo and behold in action animated show in America. That didn't always let's go back to. Its gags it was almost a straight dramatic action animated show which Joe Really don't see anymore your avatar plates straight. I believe it's probably one of the best comparisons and I can't recommend it enough to people who do you know are interested in good thunder cats content. Unfortunately it only got one season and and now we see thunder cats roar. And I'm saying to myself own my God. This is literally. They're doing exactly Klay the same thing they did with teen titans that they're doing with thunder cats. It's example everyone will forget. Power puff girls because has it was inferior in every conceivable way. And there's nothing noteworthy about it but yeah they keep doing this. It just keeps happening man and it almost seems like like vis version of thunder. Cats is more like teen titans go Because it looks like they're just going straight WACKY and I don't mind that in a lot of aspects aspects I think that's one thing where Got You just sent an slipped my mind okay. And their the time at not adventure time Where this show is going fully wacky where L. Thunder cats didn't and and yeah I I feel like the idea of doing a straight action show in America For animation has kind of been lost in the mainstream and that that really bugs me because I think it still can be done. Maybe with the advent of Netflix and Hulu and Disney plus that will become more of a thing but I always remember that the best shows for action shows that told the real stories where was their comedic relief. Yes of course but they were telling a real story We can all go all all the way back to the nineties. And I'll give you the prime example Gargoyles That that while Disney kind of forgets forgets it like in the original announcement for Disney plus They mentioned all the enemy animated shows that we're going to be there and then everyone reminded them. Hey Hey gargoyles. And then because the the Disney plus twitter account.

But I've always been looking looking for stuff that was kind of you know challenging and all that sort of thing. I bought a Manga and I honestly think that a lot of my favorite Britt stuff would classify closer to the Manga side of things. Like I love. The entire works of clamp You know some of them a little bit weird. But I think clamp specifically card art captors stuff like that is you know. Probably some of my favorite series and death note of course superior in the Manga version But on the anime side side of things I've always kind of enjoyed a mix of all sorts of stuff. Some weird you know Stylus L. Stuff for the sake of looking different your your heat guy J as that you know keep it really classic and tropy in the anime but also sort of do something unique on their own But you know my top three. I think I think that always stand the test of time. That always You know keep me routed into why I love. The medium are The stylish and action packed soul the leader. Which recently turned ten? That's always wild to think about Sayonara Zazi Boesak Bo Sensei which is also very very. Visually striking and quite possibly one of the most surreal and hilarious looks at mental illness in most media and full metal alchemist brotherhood. You know now I think that. Just it's it's basic choice but I think it's you know it's it will constantly stand the test of time it mold up against the borough toes. Does your opinion on the first full metal alchemist as well Decent pacing up until it breaks off from the from from the Manga. And then it's some really really weird fan fiction can't really vibe with you know if you like it that that's totally fine. It's just not really something that I couldn't hop on board with knowing how the Manga went but honestly I think my preferred viewing is watched the first series of until it breaks from the Manga. And then find where that you know cuts off and brotherhood and hop on there. If you can it's You know they've all got. They both got their strengths and weaknesses. I think because Z.. The pacing kind of leading up in Brotherhood is sort of like well. We've been here before. So let's do the speed run right and also one more thing. Everybody I forgot to mention. I also really like Star Trek a lot so star trek pops up on the podcast. It's because I really like Star Trek Abu Abbott moving on to the of some sort section of this podcast We are both big fans of not just anime but but animation as a medium as a whole so we're gonna take things westward For me like I said I grew up right at the peak peak of the to Nami era and I always felt like I was blessed to be a kid during the time where America got the DC. The animated universe starting with Batman the animated series moving to Superman and the new Batman Superman Adventures and eventually coming to the the masterpiece that was Justice League and Justice League unlimited. I Cartoon Network for me in my teens whereas Nickelodeon was more more for. When I was a kid I moved towards cartoon network? I'm not much of Disney Guy Folks. I moved more towards cartoon network as I grew the older and I feel like in the two thousands and into the twenty tens cartoon network was absolutely the place to be the they were a a world to be to allow creators. Just a giant playground where you would have a show that really inspired me as well like regular show and Just to give a little bit of Fan Service just to the nineties kid deep down Because I love sonic like the Hedgehog as some of you might remember. Do Love Me. Some sonic the adventures of sonic the Hedgehog. Yes I'm talking about. The afresh cartoon the syndicated cartoon not the Saturday morning. ABC Cartoon which was great it was just cut shorten ended far too soon but the adventures of sonic the Hedgehog the one that had the characters from sonic too and that was a bit more wacky goofy and cartoony that that really really appealed to my heart and also had Dr Robotic voiced by the late long John Baldry and he was fantastic. Fantastic for for everyone out there. That knows the I hate that. Hedgehog me Oh I just love that voice setter. That's that's where it comes from. He was the guy blue loosing singer yet and yes the adventures of the Hedgehog as well for my sonic the hedgehog. Sega Genesis. Nine indies kid soul Jack for the western side of the world of animation. Tell me some of yours well It's it's surprising I do have couple Disney properties on here. But I'm pretty new. I'm actually in the middle of writing an essay about why Disney is. It's always kind of been a bit of a pickle but You know I think that if you know me long enough you'll probably go You you know you'll you'll start to realize that one Recent cartoon comes up quite possibly more than almost all the others combined and that is the Disney Channel Series by Alex Hirsch gravity falls a brilliant mystery really exquisite. You know it always stood out to me among most of the modern animation Shen You know it stucked up to everything that they wanted to do with it and yes go ahead. I thought you were saying something I I I just find that You know returning to it. I always find you know more details and more things to appreciate about it. And it's so a perfectly captures that atmosphere of a lazy mystical somber. Where anything can happen? And you know if you haven't checked it out before if people haven't seven you know viciously recommended to you please check it out If you can maybe do so not on Disney. Plus because for some reason they decided that the is the mason symbol on stands Fez which is the central thing for the entirety of the plot. A lot of the story you know without getting too spoiler into it but that plays a role in the entirety of the series they just decided. Nah Nah it. Even it doesn't look anything like a mason sign. We got rid of it so you know how very fork over the You know then again Disney long before was who's long before for kids so yeah. Yeah Yeah like I said keep an eye out for that folks. You know I'll plug my social at the end of this but Disney is GonNa get edit but yeah they've got the DVD set out finally. And there's all kinds of extra because Alex Hirsch and the crew really really care about giving you what they know. Fans want that kind of thing on the cartoon network side of things you know there are a lot of tenders I think overall decades I think the amazing World Gumbo is a fantastic testament of twenty tens animation of what it could really really embody in with technological Strides and humor and everything. But I gotta say my favorite has always GonNa be the the nineties classic. The power of girls I think Craig mccracken You know he's a fantastic artist. Great Cartoon Visionary you know. He later on developed fosters Oscar's homogeneity friends also for C. N. and then hopped onto Disney to make the ill-fated wander over yonder. But you know always a pleasure to watch set stuff. It can be an exercise in euphoria frustration action that just pumps your Adrenalin and it. Surprisingly holds up with a lot of what I find find to be very important messages to pass onto all genders. Everybody think everyone everyone needs to kind of take the satire and the commentary with you know the biggest grains assault that you can just enjoy a very three beautiful stylized world that cartoon network I think is mostly like that kind of era. You know with that Iconic Gandhi Tarkovsky Hanna Barbera late nineties. Aesthetic I think that they've always kind of kept that edge in that energy in that brightness even you know moving for two thousand twenty tens And then hopping back into Disney real quick because I gotta just say even though they make their scripts even though they've really really gone my IRA and they're the reason I'm not on twitter right now. That is true. Look it up or talk to me if you need to. Dm Me There is something about Disney that I appreciate when they do it right and that is preserving historical excellence and the history three of animation. which they're pretty much a almost single handedly responsible for in the West apologies mesmerized Fleischer Look at quack attack. If you ever have the chance folks As of this recording it is still available to view on Youtube In full you know where to look and and it is basically an archive From the beginning of Walt Disney animation in the twenties. You know they're black and white cartoons up until all the shows release which was the mid nineties just all of their shorts everything they've ever done even some segments of stuff like fantasia made it in or make make music like just take a look folks if you have any sort of interest in the history of animation especially the best the cream of the crop of Disney's.

"Box still here. And also Romney because that like has school much sugar in it. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Everybody come to colossal Khan. It's. Insane. I also I also say that I feel like going to canal's depends on what convention, you go to. I feel like some conventions are definitely known for like their panels and their guests or as some are more so known for like their dealers hall or other things because like I can say that I feel like Fanta may is most known for the fact that is the only convention that I've gone to so far. That's open twenty four hours 'cause have an in. Yeah, that's fascinating. Because in the mid west, I would say, the only exception is probably a sen- I, I know they're video game room is not twenty four hours. But that's rare around here. Everything is twenty four hours. It It really. really I don't know about animate expo because I haven't gone before. I wanna go, though, but I know when I've gone to sac anime, and when I've gone to crunchy roll expo both of those headed in time. Yeah. Yeah, the, the Constanta is still open, but they don't have anything plan. They don't have a twenty four hour, you know hall for people to nerd out in the whole time. Yeah, very really coz, it wants you to honestly Levin across the concept. Hey do. Yeah. Because at least with the conventions in the mid west people are still roaming around the concept, or at, like three in the morning. Oh, that's fully fully in Qasr play fully with drinks in their hands. It's it doesn't stop and you can go to the game room any hour of any day, and have some games going on like it really does not stop until people just are in a stupor on Sunday morning. So shea got I meant to ask you. I loved your Cherie Qasr play. I. You're sure he calls play was absolutely Lawsom, one person that I'm was rooming with at colossal Khan, her, and I her name is Sophie, we have tentatively agreed either for your mccown in Detroit, or next year at colossal. Con we will be doing a two Challah and dorm lingerie joint 'cause play. Oh my God. Yes. Yes. What's that? I have to say that it was so much fun. Confling cherie. And I also want to say I did not make my costume. I bought it off of Amazon. The only part of that costume I actually did was the makeup of the only bar. I actually did everything else I bought off, Amazon. They had it like packaged as like an adult Cherie costume. And I got my Star Trek uniform from wish. So again, from China, which means they wjm made it for me to order and got the badge designed by a metal maker, but the boots in the socks were mind. But it was all made and tailored to me. Yeah. For me, the only thing also only thing that was mine, where my shoes, but it was it was a lot of fun. I was actually just like how you said how how you felt when people like ask for pictures. I also felt very awkward when people ask me for pictures because I wasn't expecting it. Because I've only cost play two other times. And the last time I. Sydney to. For me. I was like it was very weird and my boyfriend strangely enough he did not cause play, especially that he didn't cost that day and he was stranded. Enough can't kind of became my handler, because it was it was just really funny, because we're getting stopped so many times when we would walk, and I would have to give him my stuff to hold while. And then he was, like, I gotta was the goes to the bathroom. And he was like, yeah, I saw you just off in the bathroom. And I was like, yeah, I was kinda just like I just want to go. I just want to get to the back. But it was it was it was a lot of fun. I really enjoyed it. And then my boyfriend was like yet, even people who didn't ask for pictures. He's eilly would walk by them, and they was, I would hear them whisper all their that Suri like oh, that's very cool. And I'm like I didn't know that. All he's like, yeah, you probably did it, and it was, it was fun. I enjoyed it. It's now I officially now think Cherie is going to be my, my go-to causeway. Really? Now, let me ask you this for for mine. It was Star Trek discovery a brand new show. There were other Star Trek fans from all of the other shows. So in my case that was very, very unique people were like, oh my God. You're the first Star Trek discovery ever seen Suri. And I'm sure that there were plenty of people from Black Panther and marvel. Did you see other Suri's? I did not. I didn't even see another like black. I didn't even see a Black Panther. At one point. That's so disappointing. Isn't it isn't that so disappointing? When there's when there's like a marvel photo shoot. There's like a marvel photo shooting every convention now, but you only see maybe one Black Panther. That's so destroyed. And everybody's just doing chubby Thor and spider. Man. I saw a lot of chubby Peter Parker from spider verse with the sweatpants. That was a really low maintenance and pretty plentiful costs player saw round there. Cost erica's, captain America's. It was cool. Because like I walked by two guys. One was dressed up as captain America. And I think I forgot what the other guy was just as and we both looked at each other and gave each other like the nod of, like, hey, what's up, but we didn't like the hidden each other. But it was like recognizing of light revolt Justice over marble franchise franchise. Yeah. It was like. So you guys don't have a hand sign like like the Trekkies, because we can all gauge other live long and prosper. Now we didn't have a hand sign. Other Black Panther three thousand one it, yeah, if people from Black Panther were there, you can do the content salute. But other than that, I guess there's Iraq people age, though, what kinda the Kearns Liu so like every picture, mostly with people, I was doing the Kanda sign 'cause ass not, what a lot of people wanna made to, to do which was really close. A lot of fun time I ever got awkward or released, like, strange was, I had this one guy walk up to me, and he liked it the will conduct sign and then walked off. And then he came back to me goes, wait, you're dressed assure. Right. And I said, yes, it was like, okay, I was like great. Just in case I wasn't no exact looking at. So something that happened at colossal Khan Sophian, either one that I talked about that wants to cause plays one of the door. The patio of our hotel room where the pool in everything is of she screamed out, something when I mentioned that I would do to cello with her. She screamed out e- palm bay like in Infinity war, and then somebody out in the distance screamed it back and we. Back and forth. And we just started. That is almost a continuation of the colossal Khan patio parties that, that have occurred because patio parties at Colosio on our thing with deejays on the patios with full sets, because this convention is absurd. But that is something that is, so wonderfully connecting with all of this is that we all have these shared experiences, even across the country whereas I'm here and you guys are there and you guys are talking about that together and it's just so, so awesome Jake. Oh, you mentioned you mentioned guests, not executive con- strong suits. But who did you encounter? Again, the, the guests in the panels are not really my thing, although I was aware that the massive outspread of deadpool's were there because of a pretty much like the first big like big famous deadpool cost player in the area deep pity. He was coming, and there was a bit of a concern that there might be, you know, people using it as an excuse to be a dick 'cause that tends to be the kind of general idea of dead last players. They're kind of high mind that way. But honestly, everybody was very cool and pretty much just doing the silly thing, and that was pretty great to hear. There was some fantastic artists that I always love to see there. And, you know the artist alley is absolutely impeccable. But you guys are on the topic of cost place. So I think it's time to, to let the the master remote and let's 'cause play expert over here. So I had a number of cost place to do this, this con-. And I knew that I'd limit myself a little bit because we've got second to make coming up, but I still did not. I didn't stop myself from going hand. I had many opportunity to do some quick changes. And since Georgie of my cost plays were ducks worked out, well. So on Friday, had the good fortune of starting out the day in full Scrooge mcduck regalia. Although it's funny that share your mentioning that you had that moment of confusion, with, with someone, not entirely sure if you were you were actually Suri. Somebody came up to me while I was waiting to check into the hotel and asked are you. Are you Scrooge mcduck cost fling Griffin? Mcelroy friendly adventures like what is this deep gut? What are you talking about? Also, I'm just barely dipping the surface into that content where I kinda know what you meant by that. So, you know, I just kind of nodded and let them take my picture because I'm, I'm shameless like. But that was quite excellent. I've got to say you, you had it. Absolutely right. About the, the unevenness of, of marble folk, but I was also really shocked. Apprised and maybe this is just carrying over because I had I have bride joker in other DC characters to Fanta may. But there's very few Batman and I get the, the weather for sure. But it was actually kinda nice this weekend, and I was very shocked. Not to see too many bad men, but moving on into the day, I changed into classic Donald Duck and just gonna recount this for everybody because it was a bit of an engineering showing to get them all to fit. I've got a fanny pack kind of based off of the one that shows up in the in the new show, ducktail twenty seventeen where Donald got fanny pack. That's party foul in bright pink letters on a neon. Yeah. And spelled F O wwl as you might imagine. So I found one, thanks to my good friend, axel Manch. Define me one online, on a website called, who's your fanny and. Procure myself some stuffed up versions of my nephews. Huey Dewey, and Louie, and by some force of sheer determination, I was able to cram them.

"Duck. I was the duck. Username jokes people. Jack is quacking up that joke. I made me laugh, and that's what matters. That's the important thing. If you can make yourself laugh, nobody else kind of core this podcast. And I mean, if this is I think that there can also be a point made that maybe the reason why a lot of people haven't necessarily understood that there is a kind of a range to the quality of dating simulators that, you know, maybe the ones that you've seen are just kind of more of the same. Like, I can think of a couple people off the top of my head. That are probably thinking of oh soccer awards. Soccer samurai all of those terrible. Terrible. Steam games that have you know, topless women. All look like, they're fifteen at best, you know, those certainly exist. But you know, there are there's there's a very interesting kind of spectrum to it. And I think that there's also a point to be made that sometimes those really bad ones. Can be entertaining. I'm not willing to go in dove in there. But I can see the point made that, you know, maybe if you're intoxicated with some friends, and they've got really really bad steam library. There's a one. You have experience with this. I don't. But I know someone who may may have a number of these games. No my God. Oh my God. I'm so sorry. I don't know if you're listening to this. But I really hope you're okay now, it ENA I will ask you if I were to play a dating sim. What would you if you had to pick one? What would you recommend? Well, if you want a good that's calling the deconstruction something that has some it goes interesting ways, it's been adapted into a horrible animate. But the game is very good. You could try school days. Oh. It was definitely something. Now, you have to understand that the game. Actually, it's very it's market written. Meaning you can have a very happy. Go lucky cute traditional experience playing. It's really dependent on your choices and it branches out pretty wildly. I I'm interested by the V twists and turns that you're saying so. They'll keep though key this this could could call it a precursor their daddy. Is there noted very noted school days school days. Well will be found on the app store and on congregate of all things. Interesting. I haven't heard that in a while. That's amazing. I my hat in. The ring would be at the very least check out the premise. And at the very least the character designs of 'em. Anisur that's probably one of the more basic dating SIMS more on the side of things, and it gives a fairly easy to understand trope. As to why you kinda have to read garner your relationship with these people characters lines are pretty out there. But honestly, I think that tends to be people's, you know, draw to a lot of these. I think you even call them like over accessorized personification article arena, which I think is that's it. That's that's what they are. But that one is pretty like up there in terms of being more straight with, you know, just kind of doing your basic dating sim, and there is a massive amount of drama, and such and I believe there was actually an animate of that. Let me don't check to see if that's. There is a haven't seen it. But I've heard horrible things about it. Oh, dear. Well, maybe not check out that. But. Amnesia was one that I had, you know, a lot of interest in because again, it does have like a fairly clever way of you know. Yeah. I still be anime. I'm not finding where you can watch it.
