"Frankfurt player just come on 44 seconds before. I think it was the third fastest goal by a substitute in World Cup history. Is that watching a French Julian green? It was that magnificent and still Morocco kept coming. Can Arte had an incredible block lane, really the last 30 minutes of the game. I thought, I'd love to know what you think. We're magnificent. The best of international football, the last vestige where players will fling their bodies and sacrifice themselves with every single sinew in a way they don't for their club. It's just a communion of the passion of the nation, the communion between players and fans, the Moroccan fans in that stadia driving their team on the French players slinging themselves with every atom of their being that drove this game to its crescendo, a feisty, glorious, wonderful France won two nil but make no mistake, their players know they had been in a true battle. There were moments in that game where they did stare into an abyss. And it held back. And the school line did not reflect the grip of grapple tussle. It did not reflect the chances made the chances missed. The wonder that the world all witnessed together. Well, as I said at the top, what France have achieved is incredible to go to back to back finals in this tournament. It's not like March Madness. It's not like the Super Bowl. Those are hard to repeat. This is every four years, the players are different. The age is different. The culture is different. And in the modern world of commercial football, to maintain your focus, your intensity for 30 days to not tune out your manager to not tune out your teammates to work in harmony towards that common goal, not just once, but twice is incredible from a footballing perspective from a human culture and organizational management perspective, bloody hell. A wonder. But Morocco though, watching them un fancied, then honestly, did you have them coming last in their group? Unwritten as a possibility. And even of making the knockout rounds, playing football that has been missed the scribe as dull as negative as reactive. No, this was robust, this was pragmatic, but it was also bold and audacious. One of my greatest memories of this World Cup is of the Moroccan attack. And buffalo and Hakeem flinging themselves forward in slack moments and creating indelible memories for their nation. For the continent of Africa as history makers and for the pan Arab world, and obviously for fans of all teams, you watch Morocco as an American fan like I did and you can not say it was great that we reached around the 16 and showed the world that we belong. What Morocco achieved as a team. The reinvented their playing style. I talked about this in Twitch, but for years, for decades. Morocco was a team that aspired to play beautiful football. They did play their players at chipotle and hadji, who came over to the Premier League in the late 90s. They played a beautiful intricate style of football, but they were always fragile. They could always be swatted aside with ease, even by mid level teams. And this nation, in short, there were their new manager rogo grey who said, I'm going to make this team a rocky of world football. And that he did the man that the fans called avant cardo head. One of the great bald nicknames of all time. And avocado had tore up the style and turn them into a robust team and organized team clinically focused team, but my God, in their moments, when they chose to swarm forward in numbers to me as a fan of any team as a fan of the American team. I look at that and say that both the style of football, the approach, the intensity of focus and collective team play and the achievement that comes with it, that's ultimately for me, Morocco's inspiration and godspeed to them. They made memories red flared fans whistling with wonder dancing mothers. They made memories that were lost forever. And for now, Argentina will wait in the final for France, news today. Their captain little Messi announced that Sunday's final will be the last World Cup game of his career for the 35 year old gentleman on scintillating for as good as 5th goal of the tournament is helped set up three others. Obviously, the last dance, if it is that will be a tilt to take away the last never of his career, the world's biggest international prize. He said, I'm happy to finish my journey in world cups that are final, that's really gratifying. There are a lot of years from this year to the next one. I don't think I will be able to do that to finish this way, it's brilliant. What words from a kid made his Argentina debut at the age of 18 in 2005 has scored 97 goals in a 172 games and said yesterday on stage in Seattle at that bloke is to Argentinians like every single hero in the marvel comic universe crushed into one tiny being and he is delivering as such. And it's magnificent to witness 90 minutes from glory for both teams, both remarkable stories and to become possibly for Frances the second team since 1960 twos Brazil to go back to back. And for Argentina, to become just a second team and tour them in the history Spain 2010 with the other to lose their opening game at a World Cup. Remember the Saudi Arabia loss? How we loved label Spain 2010 went on to win the trophy, can Argentina. Morocco, leave your head held high. You made us all, you've made this Audrey. One other quick note, odd moment today, U.S. soccer who have been totally silent on Gio arena and Greg berhalter after geopolitical statement, ostrich in their way out of this encompass situation. I'm sure seeing Christmas within touching distance. Hope they can just put their head down and we'll all forget. But today, U.S. soccer posted their first Instagram post in a while and for reasons which are unclear to me, it is a picture of Giordano, captioned third youngest U.S. men's national team player to win a World Cup cat 20 years, 12 days. I don't know if they were hacked or if this was some like subtweet at Greg Bill halter or what,

"Would have been a shuffle. A shuffle of that border. Most people would say right now, they've got Pelé Maradona, so whatever you want, right? And in that three, they would end in their little messy Christian Ronaldo. Maybe a Zidane or a royal original Ronaldo. Yeah, most people don't give cryo tech that credit. Look at that stat. Cristiano Ronaldo, no goals in the knockout stage of a World Cup. Is that a fluke? Or does that tell us something about him in these key moments? I mean, at international level, at least. That's that applied to messy until this World Cup as well. You're right. You're right. Yeah, I think U.S. fans always say that Julian green has more knockout round goals than messing Ronaldo combined coming into this. I don't want to put too much stock and we've heard we've heard this as well many times. The best football isn't played at the World Cup. Because it's national team is very difficult to get these players as a champion. It's Champions League. It is Champions League. And that is mister champions. Right. For me, he's in my top 5 best footballs ever. Along with Leonel Messi, there was going to be a reshuffling of that order depending on which one of them lifted if they were. One of them were to lift the cup. Yeah. It feels like both in terms of his international career and his club career. He doesn't get to write his own ending. And I think for the all time greats, you kind of want to walk off doing it, right? Doing it how you wanted to do it as the star is the center man. And I think that's pretty clearly not the case for Cristiano Ronaldo. Let's take a look then at the updated bracket here at the 2022 World Cup there are only

"And I went through and it was like maybe four were fine without it. He was that bloody good, but then Toronto offered him a multiple salary wise of what Roma were offering him and he headed right back Clint Dempsey followed and then juicy outta door came back to Klinsmann. Countered by aggressively pursuing any half decent player who was playing a trade or who grew up in Europe. There was a nice landing striker Aaron johansen who happened to be born well his parents were studying in Alabama. I mean, it was like watching each an elite truffle hound at work on the Wikipedia pages of players of Europe. He found a host of Germans who had dual citizenship. We'll get to that in a moment. But first of all, there was a truth in his madness, right, a truth that's been proven out in, I mean, by 2022, when we're teaching, we knew this, American players, they do get better when they test themselves against the best in Europe. Absolutely. As does players from every other country in the world, and they've just been doing it for longer than us. This is why it's so weird that it was a controversial thought back then. And now we look at our 22 team and as we've been building up toward it, like why do we feel good about it? Well, we feel good about it because we got guys who are playing at A.C. Milan and Juventus and Chelsea. And up until recently Barcelona, let's not worry about the ones who are dropping from some of the best teams in Europe. They've stopped by. At the very least. But above all, Jurgen love German Americans, a legacy. Oh, the Kerry would love this of the Cold War. When back listeners in the 1980s, before many of you were born, there were 248,000. That's an astonishing number, 248,000 American troops stationed in Germany, and you don't need me to explain to you how babies are made, but let's just say there's a large Germans who had American dads. I don't understand. I wouldn't know those would know those soldiers just be sitting there politely and they're in their bases. Just waiting for the chance to protect our country. Playing catan. Service takes many forms. And they were thinking ahead. They think about the 2014 World Cup and Jurgen found the and recruited them Jermaine Jones, Fabian Johnson, tibi Chandler, Julian green, just 19 years old then, and on the fringes of Bayern Munich. First time I interviewed Jermaine Jones, he would only speak in German and he told me how stupid he thought it was that these young Americans from Germany are turning up with new tattoos of the American flag on their own. Just to prove to Jurgen, how American they feel and then the very next camp like a month later, I interviewed Jeremy and Jones again and do turned up with a huge stars and stripes tattooed down the side of his leg. Suddenly we had a whole access to a whole new pipeline of talent. I remember watching, I think at the very first episode of your not 30 for 30, 30 for 30, that you interviewed John Brooks. I came away with a very dubious impression of John Brooks in that first episode. This is, of course, before the World Cup because he pointed to the tattoo on his elbow of Chicago and he referred to a Chicago Illinois. Yes. Yes. He just

"A lot of novice. I just think, I think for me, even though the goals against says they're very good defensively, that might be also a concern. If I were ever to be a pessimistic American, but you know in how I am with my fandoms, I can be pessimistic. You. Time to time. Let's stay on the kluba America train and we'll focus in here next. Okay? Why? Because ESPN is reporting that the U.S. men's national team is continuing to follow the progress of the dual national attackers having a great season with asagi Las in Liga MX. Was born in Mexico, raised in El Paso, is represented the U.S. at youth national team level, and he's also played for Mexico as we know into senior friendlies. Now, despite the apparent interest her important to note, sources are telling ESPN Mexico, there's been no direct contact between zendejas and U.S. soccer. All right, herc. So time is running out. We've got the September friendlies coming up. Should the United States and Greg berhalter call up Alejandro Zendaya. Yes, you should call them up. And people are going to start naming Christian Pulisic, Timothy way up, Brendan aaronson, Giovanni Reina, but we're stacked in the wings are going to say all these fans who are the U.S. men's national team. He's not really a winger. And when he broke out on Liga and Mickey, it was with Nick axa as an interior as an 8 where he was the highest goal scoring Mexican in ligaments. He had his breakout year playing in that position. And when I look at the names, when I look at the depth chart for the U.S. men's national team in the midfield, you've got two locks. You've got western McKinney as an 8 and you got Eunice Musa as an 8. Then there's Lucca de la Torre, and then you have wait a second. Where am I going here? Because Greg berhalter was using Christian roll done. He was using Sebastian legit. There's been a strong cry for people about Jordy. And Malik Tillman. And I've been on that train. We mentioned as a potential player in midfield to move, right? But if you had to go straighten out, just midfielders, this is where I think Zendaya has could not only compete and fight for, but maybe push out one or two guys. So if you're telling me that he can't swim in that very, very shallow and after you're talking about the locks I don't believe you and through the history of the U.S. mint national team released a recent history, we've seen surprises every World Cup cycle. You look at 2014, it was John Brooks, Julian green. You look at 2010, Robbie Finley, Etsy bottle, your boy, 2006, Clint Dempsey, Jimmy Conrad, was it Eddie Johnson, 2002, polymer master, these two kids named DeMarcus Beasley and Landon Donovan, who had like a handful if that a World Cup qualifying games. So there's been surprises in all more than Zendaya's.

"Doing really well in game one to get to their best lineup, which I think is smart, white, Tatum Brown Horford. I thought emio zoko went too long before he got to that lineup in game two. I wonder how quickly we're going to see or if we see you don't start that lineup, start grant Williams for Robert Williams. We've seen him do it in the second halves of a couple of games against Miami. Although that lineup was outscored last night and I think it was -8 to 8 minutes or something like that. I think they look the best they look with that group on the floor. I think they're spacing is obviously better. I'm interested in that. It just sort of, if they get to that sooner, and it gets like, I think the warriors are just beginning to learn how to exploit. Like if you're gonna put rob Williams on Andrew Wiggins, there's stuff we can do there that we've only barely dabbled in running off some screens. They force some switches, got a back cut basket out of it last night. It takes that little game away, especially if rob is, you know, it all depends on how kind of mobile he is. I wonder if we're going to see sort of a more aggressive move in that direction. And unless two big lineups, let's tice, what do you think about that? Well, I think from Boston standpoint, there's no doubt that Robert Williams is hampered and grant Williams has had no impact so far. And I think they need one of the two Williams to come through and be able to play more and play better. Because I don't know necessarily if you want to be for perimeters to start the game with Al Horford, but I do like the idea of grant Williams and Horford as a starting group, I'll be interested. I would suspect if Robert Williams is going to play. He will continue to start, but you see as minutes, you know, they're cratering. And think about it last night. They started great. I mean, they were yeah. You know, it wasn't their start. They got off to a terrific start, Jalen Brown got off to a terrific start. So I think sometimes, you know, when you lose big like they lost in the third quarter, that we can think like as outsiders like, what do they have to do? And I think maybe on the inside, the Celtics could be like, no, we just have to play better. Our aid are our 8, maybe tice doesn't play. And so we don't throw in the fourth big guy, and we just stay with the three bigs of Horford Williams and Williams. That sounds like a law firm. And, you know, just stay with that. And then mix those 8. So I would suspect if rob Williams can play, he'll he'll start. Wouldn't shock me if we saw grant Williams at the 5 here and there. Just maybe a two minutes or three minutes of it, maybe a little more if it works. Which is a look they haven't used much, but I think there's a place for it in this series, the harder they lean into small ball. It's going to be, it just feels like we've scratched the surface through two games and especially given the lineup juggling that Steve Kerr did to great to great success last night. It feels like there's still a lot of ground to cover before we get to the sort of endgame of this series, which is exciting and these are two these are two great teams. I mean, you're right that this is the least talented warriors team that's made the finals, three of those teams had Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson, Steph Curry and Julian green, so it's not a fair fight, even though Durant was injured for the last finals. And the first one was the first one when they're all younger and athletic and more athletic and happy to be there and all that, but there's still a hell of a team with just a system unlike anything else and high IQ across the board and the Celtics have been the best team in the NBA for almost 60 games now. It should be a great last between three and 5. Hopefully 5 games and you will be there chronicling all of them. It's great to have you back. Jeff van Gundy will probably bother you again before the finals are over, but thank you for letting us your time enjoy a couple of days of non game action and we'll see you at the arena..

"Men in blazers on the NBC Sports Network. David, we just watched the concrete cafe gel wins a classic. Yeah, it's very broad use of the word classic in the crash. Welcome true. We've ready. Oh my word from the crap part of bed for the crap part of Culver City, California. It's many blades of Spotify green room. Oh, the girl tonight was to put ourselves in a majestic position to seal qualifying depends on your definition of the word majestic really, doesn't it? We are done with 9 matches and we will discuss progress three points history points. 7 buds is 7 birds. Let's dive on in. Take all of your questions on the mighty United States. As you say up top, congratulations El Salvador, you leave, with heads held high, will take Everton questions to from you in the green room on a knife on in D roll. It's our weekly Spotify green room every Wednesday during the Premier League season and during international breaks we'll be here to break down all the midweek narrative for those of you GFL please joining here on the green room actually on the app start asking questions in the chat right now. We're going to pull you up on stage later in the show to hear from you. For those of you listening to this on some kind of a delay, if you don't agree, do you even know the only way to actually participate in the pod is to join us here on green room live on the app. Let's kick this off with a tourist rock Elio. Tonight, it's actually the Julian green room. Could you go on? Can we have done with you the ingredient tonight? That's what everybody around the world is saying. And I will say, if you are in Columbus and are at the game or trying to leave the game or in a pub near the stadium postgame, we're in Schmitt's House of sausage, give us a call. If you were there tonight live, we would love to hear from you. Big, big, big, big, big. I will definitely give you a taste, David. Oh, guess yeah. By the way, if you're in Frankie hey, crank out. What a race. Yeah. You can see he just made me miss Jurgen. I suddenly started missing missing missing missing him a little bit. Why? Because I said Frankie had to crank out the good Judy. Suddenly missed him. It's not too late. It's not too late if Roy Hudson's back David. You're gonna come back and I want to raise my 11th first bud of the day. Slime misdirection, because we are talking about the U.S. tonight, but to Premier League news for a minute, Roy Hudson is back. Yes, the Tony Bennett of the Premier League returns to all living homes. It's not claiming maybe he's actually manager of Watford 74 year old Roy boy. I mean, if he has one strength, it's knowing how to organize a team, but my favorite headline upon his appointment was in the daily mail who wrote Hodgson faces an awkward reunion with Watford's mascot. After leaving the previous incumbent quote, a disgrace after he mock Wilford Zaha by David and The Crystal Palace star. Also, but fun blood fab. Hudson worked with the owners of what for the pozo family during a spell of all the Nazi from June to December 2001, which ended after just 17 games. So grace yourself, as Johnny Gabriel tweeted, scientists estimate that by 2050, all human life on planet will have had at least one stint. Courage. Oh, that's so true. It's going to be good to see Roy back though. It's going to be nice to see this sideline. Neville Chamberlain is younger. Doesn't really hurt. It's going to be amazing to have him back in our loving arms. The U.S. men's national team won El Salvador, nil, roger. The result, they were looking for the U.S. men's national team tick the job done box on Columbus on a Columbus night so called Greg berhalter had to wear two pairs of socks under those designers because the first half saw some nice spells of possession and build up play down the U.S. right, but without much to show for it. But in the 52nd minute Fulham's Anthony Robinson bounced on a loose ball, smashed it home from close range before and caulking and even more impressive back flip. And that was pretty much that role of the U.S. took political off for aronson flung jossi and Jordan Morrison and they saw the game out. Yeah, I mean I must say my major disappointment of the past two hours we've dedicated to the company of John champion and Taylor 12th and he's a pleasure was that we didn't see the cameras zooming in on Frankie Hayden completely but naked in the Columbus crowd nipples out just leading him and be a chance. It would have made tonight go down a bit easier. We face up to El Salvador 7 place, yes. But we do remember takers of a point for us in a dire nil nil draw earlier in the qualifying a young team led by Hugo Perez, a U.S. men's national team legend who I am by greatly on the evidence of these two games. Before kick off, even more shocking news, I think this was humanly possible than the mighty mighty boss towns breaking up was that pep didn't start held possibly out for later games. He's not scored in 11 to maybe drop. I don't know how we square that circle, but the search for the dominant U.S. number 9 goes on and in came young 21 year old Colombian born. He's used Ferrera first star in World Cup qualifying Greg son Tsar there's also not preferred along with pappy and we've got to take our hat off to the FC Dallas youth academy. Basically the new breed and Richards peppy. He's Ferreira canon Acosta just a pipeline that propels our nation, that pipeline has a name. It's the brick shame memorial pipeline. And the biggest joy Moussa macken Adams started World Cup qualified together for the first time sharing the field earlier for just 21 minutes so far in this World Cup qualifying, how are you feeling David before kick off with that set expectations? What did we want to see today? Well, look, I've got to be honest. I was, it was a 5 episode jeopardy day today. So that was my, I was just trying to figure out how I was going to be able to watch the game, whether or not we would have finished taping in time, and we weren't. So the game came on in the middle of taping. But you know, look, what I hope to see, you know, with these young players playing with each other with that midfield, you're just talking about McKinney and moocs are in midfield together with politic back and having something.

"Of course this. Get a head on it. Maybe too fast. It is the audio of all audiences. That's gonna say, I was gonna try and put you down in my awful English way and say, you sound bored, there's not a complete sound board, without a more entire orgasm. And then you drop it the Tyler gasm, you are always welcome, just the joy. I've got to say my Wednesday night. Whenever happened, my spirits are lifted by your presence in our loving arms. Is your question? Well, in the appreciate that sir Bennett, my whole question is at the very least of the presence of one Jared Bowman. And one Jared Bolton has been so tremendous this season over West Ham and his whole time to have Andre yarmulke still on the sidelines. And my question for you is, will he get that call up? Finally, court from Gary Southgate in the English national team come the next sign England have a hole gathering. Oh, it's Steiner. I'm aware of the time I'm going to let you take this beauty first and then we're going to cut you loose so that TV TV TV can go down. But Jared Bowen, the Taylor 12th eye. I've been trying to get that to catch on and it's just not catch it on. But whenever I see his little face on the television, I do think English Taylor 12 man in every regard. But what you're sent to that, look, I don't have a great feel for that. I think you should definitely delve into it more. But first I have to say, I'm glad I didn't leave before that before that whole presentation because I posted I have hosted hundreds of green rooms and I've never, I've never had the pleasure of a guest to come up with their own sound effects. That is some mind-blowing stuff. You James needs his own show. This is Andrew Jones makes this green room the Julian green room of green rooms. Well, I do do hoses show on Mondays and Fridays at noon called overall and Mark, I will be in the next room for you guaranteed all this. Yes. The Barclays sound effect, that will go down all the way with that. And real quick, what you answer. I wanted to give a shout out to John sergeant, who was at the 18th today, but probably because he was expecting his first child but not a city at the moment. That's been the things speculation with that. But gentlemen go right ahead. You're a beautiful human being. Andrew Jones. Josh charging is about to have a baby. Well, it sounds newsy. Yeah, like his partner had been inspecting for a while with that and you know Dean Smith actually likes y'all sergeant in terms of his work rate. So when he was out the 18 all together, you have Quincy of U.S. and T fans freak out and say, oh, this is definitely time now for John sergeant to make the move and all that as U.S. MNT fans tend to do when things don't go tremendously well for a situation, but very well. If you don't understand Josh shawty, you don't understand football just so it is a beautiful football striker. He's a post goal scoring taker, which I'll explain, but I want to cut the great Steiner loose. You beautiful human being. You know, this inspired me the last few seconds. This might be a controversial question. I hope I'm not putting too much on the spot. No, please. Fan fantasy World Cup final. England V United States, what does Raj Bennett do? Oh, that's not. First of all, first of all, the reality is the next World Cup. I don't like to spoiler alert for anyone. But clearly Qatar are going to be in the final. The real question is who are going to be facing in the final? I mean, we're not all schlepping over there. Just to, you know, we're not keeping the whole bloody schedule. We're not, you know, celebrating a World Cup that soaked in blood, unless they have committed so much of this World Cup that they clearly are going to have to utterly commit to killing the goose and lead the golden egg and destroying all credibility. It will be guitar against somebody. The honest truth also is, you know, the answer to that story. I cheer for, you know, in a sense the American represents the early early early clashes in the American Revolution. I have cheered for one side and for one side only. And I'll say we had polar bear as the holding midfielder. So it's not a 2010 I cheered with all of my heart and all of my soul. I rode with team America in every regard. It is not even close, genuinely, my adoration and my life. I definitely have muscle memory of the England team, but it's a muscle memory synced in disappointment. So it's America in every regard. If America playing, there's not a single team that I could think of. Even if even if there are 11 Rebecca lows on the other team, a team of 11 Rebecca lose man, that's a 2020 2026 Jerry world in Dallas. We're going to rig it and we'll have we'll finally have that England USA dream final. Oh, man, you and I, you and I will be watching together hugging the bigger question is you'll probably.

Our reunions are well attended and we really enjoy catching up. We are unique. You are unique. I think most of what you are saying, And then the sentence trailed off. I'm going to pretend that she agreed with me. Jeff in West Allis. Honest, candid. I have not been to a high school reunion in years, but when I did attend, it was because I was curious to see how much people's appearances had changed into reconnect with friends from that period of time. Yeah. And other people are sitting in the different groups. We were trying to Scott, How can you classify kids in high school? How dare you label them? Because everybody labels them. You know who labels them? The kids in high school label them. They label each other. He said. There's the goody two shoes. The dopers. The dorks. I said, nerds, I think, goodness, I just kind of, uh I wasn't cool. Don't get me wrong. I'm not as cool now I'm not. I was not a school van as I am now, Jordan. I know you'll be shocked to Yeah, to exact to learn that, um, but I also wasn't thankfully, I was not the butt of jokes. I mean, I think everybody got picked. Everybody got made fun of at some point. Now, some Two horrible extents. Uh, I thank the good Lord. I just kind of I wasn't cool, but I wasn't also like the picked on a lot. I just I just did my thing. I don't disagree with anything You said, But as you were in that room And and you were maybe reunited with people that you haven't seen in decades. Or maybe just since the last reunion. I don't know, but Can you at least admit to you had to at some point at some point that day or that evening? You saw. Fellow classmate that you have not seen in decades. And even for just a moment, Julie, you thought boy. She has not aged Well, yes, he does not look like I would have anticipated him to look and in that moment it gave you just a tiny smidgen of satisfaction. Can you admit that to me? There was something there at least a moment. Julie, a fleeting moment. I honestly cannot say that. Maybe at the 40th. I would have no but remember. Some classmates went to Vietnam. Grand Children. Have been in the Middle East. Alright Kingdom, Right? No, really honest. I I understand that I understand that. I'm not but that Okay, Okay. All right. All right. Thank you, Julie. It was honestly so good to see everybody. Okay. Alright, Julie. All right, All right. Thank you, Julie. But she did say maybe at the 40th. Maybe at the 40th. All right. I mean, I'll find out Decades from now, many decades from now, maybe maybe, all right. I understand the point she is making you get to the point where you are so far removed from high school that the whole status look better look worse, that thing just kind of It doesn't matter anymore because you've been so far removed in And everybody is up there. And does it look like they once did? Okay. All right. Fair enough. I'll give that to her. Stick around more than Steve Smith, ET show next.

"The feelings going into the world cup or that i was decision was made like once. The decision was made a just Just remember what's just really happy. The only thing was would was on my mind them. Because at this time we already were like in training camp and Um ya after that We knew this is the squad who who go pseudo to the woke up and i remember when i heard when i heard that i'm on the squad can can describe it. I was just happy and them. I didn't think about some some people who say oh he goes for eleven or something like that. Because i think that's also not like it's not fair to say that the goal for lend mona van. that's so i was just happy. Yeah bet you're happy when he scored against belgium to walk us through that moment. Because i mean it's just like a classic world cup moment. The kid gets his one shot and he comes good so the moment that will really i will never never forget. I think my my i touch in the game and was the pretty pretty nice pass from from michael bradley and the now after the goal thought we we go after the chance to make to to them at the end that reset that we that we didn't make it but yeah if you cup them then be you can meet them. The holy say it was against that belgium a team to a very good team. Everybody that plays in a world cup. Has this like pinch me moment. Like oh my god. I'm playing in the world cup. I remember mine distinctly. Do you remember years like where were you. What what made you realize this is a world cup. And i'm in a world cup. What was your moment. It's hard to say. Because i think i came in an extra time. So all the toddler place they. They looked like they were very tired. And i was. I was very fresh slow down. But when i when i when i sought a ball in the net was just feeling just scored an awoko and So when when. I see the ball in the net. That will moment when i felt okay. It was a good goal. Let's talk current national team. How close did you feel to the to the current. Us team to breaking into the twenty three. You know we got the qualifying list coming out soon Is that something. That's on your radar you kinda constantly looking to see. If you're going to be involved polaroid feud and of course Get invited for the national team and helped national thima. That's my that's my biggest goal and then we will see. I heard maybe we should have given julian green. Some.

"After some trainings. I thought like okay. It's a very big difference between by the like hamburg. At the time. So i was a little bit. The shock like from the like nothing against against the quality from number but it was like a a big difference. That was it. What's it like playing under path. I mean that's got to be a for a player kind of a dream and then you get to do it you know. What do you take away from that time under manager that everybody says is if not the best in the world among the best ned was Was a very nice time. Like it was a a dream I remember i i. I played in the under nineteen team at the time and then pep came and He wanted me to to train in the preseason hosted with the first team so Had was was just a dream to train under him to play under him and He's a woke world class coach enduring. We've already mentioned age. Eighteen world cup. You know score on the world cup club. Cobb champions league and should not flat of the amount of quality played with but every footballer goes through these moments but are hard that are difficult was the most difficult experience for you you know. Thus far as if a boxer still only twenty six years old hurt his parts. I was probably hamburg because that it was right after the after the world cup and then hamburg wanted me and i thought that it's it's a good. It's the right step to to go to hamburg. And after two weeks i think the coach wanted me fired and Yeah since then they never really gave me a fair chance again so Yeah i think. I made like five games for them and yet was a pretty pretty hard year and hamburger. Yeah it made me stronger. Julian you end up pretty good season last year so much so that you know how it is whenever you start scoring goals your name gets into the transfer leagues the room or male. A we heard a lot of back here in the united states around major league soccer. Did you ever consider a close to move in molasses as something that that that would have interested you the time or somewhere down the road Molasses always always entrusting I'm in my my dad. Still lives the in the states so it's always interesting Among but right now my focus is on on europe. He said i'm still twenty six. So i think that is still have a lot of time to to yeah also played europe and may be also make the the next step in europe and But of course. Mls melissa's always always on my mind and You never know what will happen in future. What is the next step in europe. What would it be if you could draw up your look at your career where you might wanna go. What would that dream next step Right now my next up is is to yeah to stained windows legal with scored the shoot. I think that's that's the biggest goal for all of us this season and also for me personally just to to improve my game also an league and try to to have the same impact. Our game like ahead Less year in a second division said you've been interested in major league soccer. it makes me think there's some major league. Soccer teams can use you any contact with major league soccer teams to your camp A little bit of contact. But i i don't really know about this context for them. My agent Told me about some. Yeah some interests and Yeah how you said. They are very interesting. teams very interesting cities than them. We will see what about the international. Us national team before we get into kind of current. I think your story joining the team when you did. This is such an interesting story especially in light of. How many dual nationals we have on the team. Now you know there seems like every week there's a a mexican american kid colombian american kid german-american kid who's who's being mentioned You know to to choose. You had to make that choice. You had to file for the one time switch from germany to the us. I know it was a long time ago. But what do you remember about that process. What was it like for you as a as on a personal level. You know now one. When i think about it wasn't it wasn't a hardship choice because I remember my. I got invited in and the training camp And was in shrank folks at the time and After after one hour. I i'd you that i wanna play for for the for the us. i mean everybody was was very nice to me i remember. Clint dempsey gave me a drowsy. With the i think the number seven so they. This was a good move from them ahead. After how's it up to one dollar sure to play for the us and Was the right choice. Let's talk about that decision from your income and take you to the world cup. It was a very controversial decision because julian green very young kid that of majority of people had not heard of are seen goes to the world cup over a us. Ms naturally legend landon donovan taxes. About just how you felt in. That moment was difficult for you. Did you feel like you were being. Maybe unfairly portrayed. What were your feelings going.

He's out of the list. Apparently wolverhampton is not going to let him go because it would cost them another ten days of quarantine on the back end so documented then replaced by sunday jimenez but really the story with this mexican roster. My goodness is who's missing. No tequila lozano actor. No the line is on top of the affor- mentioned no raul jimenez. This this is crisis alert. isn't it for mexico. Yesh mexican fans pundits literally grasping at straws are trying to point the finger trying to figure out what's going on been conflicting reports about it. He meant is already close. The door some are leaving a sliver of hope that wolverhampton in the mexican mexicans. Come to some sort of agreement. And that he menace can make that trip i. It's doesn't look good. It's a lot of star power. You mentioned the star power. That's a lot of veteran presence right there. That's a lot of important players missing for the mexican national team. So mexico course opening at home on thursday against jamaica before road trips to costa rica and panama. For more on this roster. Let's welcome in our good friend. Maybe by the time we get off the air but that a team is very very scary. And i'm i'm shocked but also i'm happy that you somehow managed to do this without. Mls players you'd make a point of it let me Okay so let me just make a point for some of the gold cup guys that we've left out and kind of you've you've picked over them you got eunice moose over sebastian legit. You know who doesn't have unicef over. Sebastian berhalter yes because he had them both available for the nation's league final one of them played the other didn't correct. You got brian reynolds bro. With one cap over reggie. Canon again educated. A player that played in the nation's the final. Just let them and that you're stretching so hard to your layers over the gold cup players. Look you got jesse's artis behind p folk the other day on the show you said. Artists was guaranteed to make the world cup. You ready to say jordan. Fuck is guaranteed to make the world cup. You're asking me to put up a in bt. Can't put up two separate rosters with limitations of not using major league soccer players now per year logic. Hold on hold on. I'm not done onum. No go ahead go ahead. You got luca. Dilatory with three cats and jewelry three year. Julian green telling a cost up over kellyn ecology. Dan hold on different position concede in a player. He started the nation's league final. That's that's the best metric that we could hasso for one when it comes to the cost of doing this homework this little homework session. You provided cost. If tomorrow there was a flight to qatar would be honest and if tomorrow there was a flight to guitar in the world cup was going on with tyler adams. Would you say injury. Worries and fitness worries. Over the last couple of seasons he may be a de facto started. This is what i learned in that. You're absolutely right there when you go. The majority of these players thirteen of zero minutes on the senior national team team. Okay and a rosters comprise compiled a twenty three players. That's over half already. We don't have any national team experience. You want me to concede that this is not a c team. Do the law of averages yourself look at the eighty team you could probably sebastian legit. When all these european players are there. Maybe is coming off the bench maybe killing a cost. But is there a clear cut starter here by your by your own law of averages other teams that actually beat mexico. My final of that eleven players. I just gave you matt. Turner had how many cats before this tournament. Don't look at the final outcome sev- around those guys. I'm talking about legit. Ken and a cost don artists. Those are the guys that i'm talking about. The point here is that for you make it an eighteen. What are we doing here. Not of the eleven players half of them are arab players. That doesn't make it a c team. It may not be an eighteen at somewhere in between which is a be the bottom line. Here is the bottom line. Here is what westminster where you went to school. Donate shots at my college. I won't take shots at yours. Look the bottom line is that we're yes thank you. She did point of view of the bottom line here. Is we're arguing semantics. It's very very petty and small. The difference mutates seating if you're a mexico fan whether you're eighteen lost to a team or seating really shouldn't matter that much it's humiliating either way. It's a huge embarrassed from a fan perspective. So what. I'm curious as to know from you is. Why do you think this like struck. Such a core because i'm not on twitter as much as you still people. Usa in mexico fans going at it back and forth and my mentions right now twenty four hours more than twenty four hours after we were talking about. Let me give you a lesson for the longest time. The mexican fan base had the superiority over the american fan base because the nineties and before were owned by mexico then come to thousands and the us gets competitive not only competitive. They kick you out of a world cup thousand two and for the better part of almost two decades. They're competing with you. Then all of a sudden they don't make the world cup we're back but what happens the. Us's exporting players at this incredible rate and now they beat you in two finals in forty days and you're not exporting these players. It's going to sting because it's that devos's because major league soccer which they know. They think they shouldn't say they think they know lee is better than so. That's why it stinks. And it's one of those you'll never get back. Us will always be able to say just like the world cup and we said this before that we got one over on you and we got one over on you with our beat team which i will say my friends in the text chain. That's what they were saying to me. So i get it. I get it absolutely for sure before before we get to the next thing shouts to at. Usf thoughts on twitter. They did a great job with like a total depth. Chart of these players did and i think helped helped her quite a little bit with his with his homework. Not that in case you missed. This is actually something. We were trying to get to the lascaux but christian pulisic courses in pre season with chelsea. Where they're playing the spurs. most recently. He did a sit down interview with chelsea tv and interestingly enough in that interview he discussed mental health specifically his approach to his own mental health. Listening this this is a tough time for a lot of people. I think and just included. I think For me the most important thing is to just having a good support system and people around me that that i can always rely on and have a chat to Me personally living alone. Over here in europe You know it's it's tough being alone at times and having someone always there to talk to is Is is extremely important for me. And it's it's carrying carried me through this time. "Other slovakian guy who's a professional golfer but he's he's currently like on like indicted for murder or something like that. It's a very weird situation. I think. I i don't i don't blame. Why one iota. I i think the opportunity to become the big fish in a very small pond is kind of cool especially when you get to that age right. It's very similar to like some of the us men's national team stuff where there's julian green born to make that decision earlier. Yeah exactly and the opportunity was offered to him present. It was not his idea. It was hey you could play golf in the atlanta. Hey why not. It worked fucking silver medal olympic medal. Through this route he would not have been on the south africa forty eight. its incredible. He brought his game has been the talking about the apex of your sport. I personally like you know. That's that's pretty cool live forever in slovakian sports history. You know. that's that's kind of cool. I'm to do quick deep thailand. Slovakians for fisher. You guys you guys keep wrong. I what you know. The this is what we could see or can we will. We see a downstream effect of golf in slovakia. As a result of this right. I mean i i truly don't know i would imagine there. The impact would not be zero ride. The they're gonna to want to invest more in their olympic gulf programs. An does that mean. The game of golf grows slovakia and central europe. In general. Which i i feel. I could be a huge opportunity for the european ryder cup team in the european tour in general expanding the game towards central europe. There's five hundred million. People live in europe yet. they have. They don't have as many golfers in europe as we do. In the united states i would imagine just because of the sheer the lack of golf available in eastern and central europe. I would think so i can. I interest you guys in in what the what the medal count for or what the what the most like. Prominent sport in the summer games for slovakia is is it. I feel like handball. You're not going to get it in like twenty. Try archery slalom canoeing. Our new absolutely running should have nineteen medals in song. Clean eight eight gold seven silver four bronze six shooting one and athletics. I'm assuming that's like decathlon or something like that To silver and in swimming and then one golf judo and wrestling and then they got they run the biathlon in the they show up in the winter. I i feel like they punch above their weight only eight medals and seven biathlon one. Oh really is that. I guess they know how to shoot and ski. But they're not great at one them Jt was a little. Bit of a disappointment. I really thought he was going to compete. Finish finish through the line I that's another thing. That's gotta be weird. If you're in the olympics what is there a play for when your way back. There's no fortunately fourth place. Sixtieth get the exact same out of it. It's like a wdc but there's no purse. There's no purse that's attached to it. I guess credit to see t. Pani was i think in fifty eighth place after around was unbelievable I feel like you know a little disappointing. Jt has been of of twenty twenty one here recently or declaring anything not yet. We're still the players win. The players got give him some life players. We're doing some testing we. We have the doctors are there. Were trying to diagnose what's wrong. it's funny. I'm on the espn leaderboard and rory's still got northern irish flag anthrax still on this one. Because i don't think they can separate this out from his profile in their system. If i can't say on the rory note his willingness to he's the only one that has gone not the only one but he is always willing to give you tell you exactly what he thinks. So he gave is honest opinions on why he probably was not excited. Very good reasons. I think to not be excited about the olympics. He talked about patriotism. And how you for a lot of people that follow the game. Probably a lot of them come from the united states. They don't understand somebody. That has a very confused allegiance to a country that no almost no one in the game of golf grows up under the northern a flag like northern ireland which is very complicated history of you know relationship with the united kingdom and the republic of ireland and how it just made him not very excited the decision about who to play for in two thousand sixteen and everything that will worked around in him coming around and saying that he you know as fully changed caught up in the olympic spirit by going to it. I good on him for you. Know being open to the change right and it felt like he was going through the motions in the beginning. I genuinely think his comments. Njit's comments about this being the coolest event these ever played in including the ryder cup that that gives me a a look. I feel like their lack of lack of influence Interest in this over the last two olympics and people not going to it has influenced me not being that into it and like hearing those two guys talk about. It's kind of like all right. Dan like that attention in terms of what i think about olympic exactly. That's i felt the same way. Look at those guys care about an hour. Then the makes me wanna categories kind of an open book for better or worse right where maybe maybe all right like. Maybe you shouldn't talk about how much you sucks before you've experienced i. That's what i was saying. He kind of maybe said too much before for forehand and he may be down as hard as game isn't where he wants it to be. I guess he was being honest. And so we can't be grudging. Can't flame like one thing i love about. Roy is i feel like he's very real. So i'm not maybe does say too much sometimes..

"Every time they see him whether it's coming in as or starting to match they get awfully awfully nervous but it is him. That delivers the game. Winning goal now hurt goes on twitter and he says czar is a lock. He used the word l. k. Locked to go to qatar. The taylor you agree. Art a lock for the world cup team. No no players a lock in this instance especially center forwards in in her noses better than anyone. Because in the two thousand ten world cup roster was announced both he edson buttle and to a certain extent robbie finley roster. Where if uh us three were having that conversation before the woke up they wouldn't have been in that necessary. Tom precision when you look at its center position. When you're building a twenty three men roster the most important thing is about are they informed. Are they sharp. And we've seen it throughout the entire. Us soccer history that you've got to be willing to make some changes. Julian green made it in two thousand fourteen over landon donovan which all three of us would have said would have been a lot. You look at two thousand six. Brian chain josh wolff. Maybe last minute decisions. More so with brian chain than josh wolff. Two thousand ten. We've already talked about jazzy artists. Berle teen guy. He has set it. However if sergeant darrell decay in these players that are in. This conversation are all the sudden hotter than jazz artists. The conversations going to be had that's why he's not a lot but i get why her sanit because gregg berhalter knows looking down the bench can count on that guy in the twenty third spot if he needs them. That's why it's an ultimate team guy. But i don't think of. Senator ford is ever luck when it comes to do in sharpness and informed going into a world cup her. How much of that tweet was not about. Czar doesn't necessarily as about. Taylor says the other guys and specifically asked night. Decay daryl deacon. Yeah it's about the other guys do you notice didn't mention himself. Taylor was one of those guys that many would have said. I understand what you're saying taylor surprises. Come out everywhere. And i'm with you but it's the pool. You were in a very deep center for pool. I was any circumstantial situation. Where charlie charlie davies had his accident. Eddie johnson was ingredients. He was injured. Brian ching was in his later years. So i understand what you're saying but look at this pool of players pool of nines. Nobody's taking molded. That possession josh on the movies. Bundesliga to matthew hoppy hasn't even given a chance at the number nine position. Daryl deka looks like a shell of his former self. It looks like jesse. Saturdays is the only person who is putting the ball in the back in that regularly and also by the way you mentioned it greg halter them. He knows your point. You guys you guys are sitting in vegas right now. The odds would be minus four hundred. That he's a lot because he is the players in the pool. One greg berle favor into the only one that's consistently got it done depending on the opponent so work you're a hundred percent right but obviously twelve fourteen months. Now things can change. That's why alaka one hundred percent. I'm looking at it more. Like ninety five to ninety taylor. What are you seeing as far as darryl decay is concerned because this is a guy who keeps getting opportunities from gregg berhalter but he's really not taking advantage of and yesterday's match against qatar. It was one of those situations where it's player. Who even when he gets on.

"Welcome to highly questionable. I'm katie nolan. That's pablo tori over. there is kind of. We're going to talk about some sports with you if that's all right Okay well you have to. It's you don't get a choice you have to do you. Didn't we weren't voting on no. What intrigues you most about tonight's nba draft. Yeah the nba draft is tonight. What intrigues me. Most it's an interesting year because with teams like the hawks in the sons making these surprising runs. It feels like a lot of middling teams are feeling the pressure to instead of asking for patients to kind of have to win now and while there's interesting people in the draft. I think that what's more interesting is within free agent market. We're gonna see a lot of moves around tonight like the warriors they are over the luxury tax. Are they going to try to package. Some of their picks their two picks maybe four some veteran. Help to put around steph curry and klay thompson draymond green or oklahoma city. We know they have in abundance of picks for they going to try to move up in the draft with some of the picks that they have the the sixers is ben simmons going to be traded tonight. Local beat reporter has said that the goal is to make that happen that the asking price is still the same. But we don't know and so there's a lot of question marks about tonight. But i think the movement up and down the draft in the trades that are happening on the side are going to be the most exciting part which no offence to the kids. Who are coming into the draft. That were very excited to see. Come into the league. It's more about the movement around that. Yeah i agree. Katie i mean. There is some uncertainty around the draft itself after kate cunningham. Every muck i've seen has evan. Mobely jalen suggs julian green in a different order and that is exciting. But the uncertainty around these stars that we already know is even more exciting. You mentioned golden state likely being in the market potentially for a veteran in a loading some of their necks. I'm also intrigued by toronto. Taking four years they would be in position to take one of the aforementioned. Jalen at which point kyle lowry could be on the new. But let's not beat around the bush. Ben simmons is the story for this particular program because all day really actually for the last forty eight hours. We've been hearing a teams shooting their shot at philly. Which is of course ironic given the player. Okay i spend every hour between now and when the draft starts ducking under my desk waiting for votes bombs and i cannot wait look. I came into today hoping to celebrate. Jalen green we had a filipino. Potential number one to overall draft pick up been waiting for that moment for decades of my life. He's got a rep the philippine. Somehow he said that's incredible and here. I am feeling like the bush. You guys are beating. Because i understand that. Ben simmons is gonna. It's part of the metaphor we stand now. You guys are doing more than around. You're getting right right. Probably stop expanding years. Here's the thing about beds sims okay. I am resigned to the fact that he is no longer going to be on my philadelphia. Seventy sixers. i resigned to this. Because if i was ben simmons i would not want to be on this team either. Be on the team or the fan base in really terrifying numbers have turned on me. I don't wanna be on on a team. Where the media the national media things. I'm other trash. I don't be playing for a coach who doesn't know how to use me. I don't wanna be playing with a bunch of guys who i don't think ever got to see me be the all. Nba caliber player. That i am so ben simmons. If you're watching and listening just know that. I am going to do the thing. They say to everybody who is feeling a little bit of heartbreak right. We now return to the second week rules for the disturbance spirits with father timothy gallagher. Let's take a second example and this is from saint augustine and he is describing being in church when the people assembled our singing. The psalms calls them the hymns and canticles and this is just Within the the days immediately following his baptism and the following takes place. How i wept. When i heard your hymns and canticles being deeply moved by the sweet singing of your church those voices flowed into my ears truth. Filtered into my heart and from my heart surged waves of devotion. Tears ran down. And i was happy in my tears. So augusta is in the church and he is present as those assembled. Our singing the hymns hymns and canticles singing the psalms and as he hears this a great warmth and joy surges in his heart and add to happiness as he says so much. So that is tears begin to fall as the the sweetness of the singing. The meaning of the words enters into his heart and he opens himself to it. The warm experience of spiritual constellation is given the same questions. Is there a spiritual object in the time immediately preceding this spiritual consolation and the answer clearly is yes if augusta were not in the church. And we're not hearing listening to the singing of the psalms. This constellation would not be given in the way that it is. Is there a clear link between his opening of his mind and heart to that spiritual object in the constellation that follows again very clearly. There is and does the link take place by means of his own activity. That is the opening of his heart. The opening of his mind to the truth That's says filtered through my ears and the the opening of his heart in in gratitude to god for this very clearly yes. Augusta is experiencing a very beautiful consolation with preceding 'cause and let's take one more example and this is again from julian green but this is years later than the experience that we saw when he was fifteen years old and let's read His account this is also from his diary and this is written in nineteen forty six so the europe has just been through the second world war and the heaviness in the darkness of that still lingers and he writes. I never meet anyone without being told that. We are racing headlong toward an era of fresh disasters. I had long fit of insomnia last night during which many thoughts stirred in my mind. Most of them very gloomy. Then i remembered saint teresa of abbas prayer. Let nothing trouble you. That nothing terrify you got only and i once more found peace so with reverence now obviously. Julian is experiencing spiritual consolation. The sense of trouble in his heart is replaced by a sense of peace. Just that that is mediated to him through the message of theresa's saint teresa's famous bookmark prayer by. Let's do the same thing. Is there a spiritual object on which he focuses in the time immediately preceding the constellation and very clearly once more. There is three sevilla's prayer of confidence in god. Is there a clear link between his focus on this object. In the constellation that follows very clearly there is and does that link take place by means of his own. Active engagement with three says prayer. That is Drinking in the meeting of the words leading them touch his heart very clearly. The answer is yes. Julian is experiencing A blessed consolation with preceding. 'cause okay so i as i've said before i think with this description does it just render explicit. Something we've always known about spiritual consolation with preceding. 'cause we know that because i said the rosary because i went to mass because they spend time with scripture because of the encouraging help or words of a friend or to use nation language spiritual object to which i opened my heart and mind. The constellation came so that very simply is what ignatius means by a constellation that is given after with preceding caused another point of ruled two. Is that when there is no such preceding 'cause and the constellation is simply given without that then. The constellation is given immediately by god. Because only god can give constellation in this way and therefore there can be no deception in the constellation and we follow with great confidence Without any anxiety what is given to us in that constellation or at this Y is it that that such installation can only be given of god. Ignatius doesn't get into the philosophical underpinnings of this set's not the kind of text that he's writing here but very simply just tells us something that he learned from experience and which long experience confirms that it is proper to the creator that is that only god can do this to enter the sole go out of the soul to move it interior. -ly drawing it totally in love of his divine majesty only god can give this kind of spiritual consolation and therefore we can open our hearts to it in confidence now in the light of everything. We've said let's go back to those first three experiences with which we began our discussion of ruled to julian green at age. Fifteen when he is in the pension in the room with his father of brother bob who prays with the woman who annoys jesus feet with the perfume and then francis the young francis as he's walking through the streets of assisi and let's look at them now in the light of what we've seen about constellation with or without preceding 'cause.
