"If he went off the board was, I think was in the window Bryant from Wisconsin who was an excellent college player, but he didn't pan out of the pro player. So did you see those things go on those of the good ones. Bad moments is when When you do a lot of work on Julian Edelman and you know, having kind of keyed up, and then you mentioned the bill that Hey, look, Bill. This is a great player. He's a projection to wide receiver. I feel very confident we could find him after draft. I don't think anybody will draft him and then New England drafts him in the seventh round. Whatever it was, and you know, Bill's looking at me, and I'm like, Well, yeah, I missed that one. So you know there's good ones and bad ones. You know, it happens that that happened. That happened. I went away. I went to see him play. I want to see Ken stay play at the University of Buffalo. It was freezing cold and the wind was blowing and he's playing quarterback. He's a punch. They have personal protector on the punt team is running down, making tackles and You know, we just met with a gritty football player. And then at the pro day he ran like 445448. Caught the ball. Well, I'm like, you know, this is a definite projection, but You know, I guess my my intelligence wasn't great because I really felt like we had a great chance to sign them after the draft. And you know, he got drafted by New England. The rest is history. So you know you win some. You lose some in this business. You don't remember any of that detailed all about everyone You haven't turned in. Not at all. How much I kick myself every every year. They was playing every time you played us. I just you know, just did against you. You believe me? Yeah. He beat us here and when we're in San Diego that new England came out here and The close game to the end, and he caught a dig and took it for a touchdown. And, you know, it just keeps putting a sword and they so but you learn from nosy. I mean, I learned a lot from that. I mean, there's a player that we really liked. And, you know, we just didn't you know, released me. I didn't. I didn't push hard enough to get him up to where he should have been. That would make sure we got him so that you know, you learn from those mitts. Those mistakes. On Valeska GM, the Chargers some things he hasn't turned loose, and he's still learning from here with us on Freddie Fitzsimmons here on ESPN Radio. The moment you guys came on the clock Look at Mike Tanen. Mom, We're live on air here on ESPN radio off our NFL draft coverage and we looked at each other and knowing you. We'll both went Slater, turn the card in. It's over. Done when you saw response later tackle with Northwestern fall to you, your reaction was what Last night. My action. My reaction was the best. We just felt like if he got past pick eight, there was a very good chance They'll make it two. 13, so there'd be no need to trade up to get somebody who can still keep our picks. So that was more once you got past decade. I mean, e guess I didn't pressure alive emotion in the draft room, but I felt very good that he's gonna be there now when we take so Um, you know, sometimes there's times you have to be aggressive time to be patient. You were patient last year with with Justin Herbert were aggressive last year with Kenny Murray to go up and get on this year. We just felt like we were in good shape. I didn't know the odds of Rashaun getting to us. They weren't there less than 50% in my mind. Um But you are post after the really nice job of Knowing the league Knowing what team they're looking for what their tendencies are, where their needs are, and you know, we kind of make some estimations and you know, we do have some plan B's and plans season order, But, yeah, it's just a good fit for us. Run game past game. He fits our style of how we're gonna play up front. Um, you know, and the big kind of had a lot of good rushers that the three years he played s face from really good competition. Custom. A great program I love with Northwestern does Practice sterile doesn't unbelievable job there. The great culture, you know, obviously great, you know, tough conference to play in. He's playing the elements up in Chicago, so yeah, it was a great pick for us. What's it like? When you see five quarterbacks going away from your squad? Tom on talk to Les Kojima charges here with us on ESPN radio. You see five quarterbacks go in the top 15. No describe to people how hard it is to evaluate that the most important position in all of football because you're not talked before. Justin Herbert. I'm going a man like him. I saw him 56 times in person. You know, it seems like an introvert. I'm a football fool. That's why I'm talking to you. You're the GM. And I'm the idiot talk show host, right? I mean, I couldn't have been more incorrect but evaluating the position of quarterback. How hard is that? For teens like Zach Wilson going to the Jets and so on so forth. Well, I think it's so difficult because so much of the of the evaluation is from the neck up, and those are hard evaluations to make. They really are. I mean, it's It's humans trying to evaluate and judge other humans. It's not really normal, but that's a big part of it is there's so much more to playing a quart of playing quarterback then size, strength, arm strength and athletic ability. A lot of it is His leadership. It's mental processing on the be able to do that, and especially at the speed of this game at the pro level, how fast you've to make decisions. So that zit so hard these guys very hard to evaluate. But you know the difference between you and our scouts. Obviously, our scouts do this every day, three and 65 days a year. No, you cover college football a lot. But you know, it's more than just being out there on Saturdays or talking to the coaches about different players or seeing him. I mean, one thing you do You see them up close on the sidelines. You know, you can look right through their face masks and you're down there with your microphone and Did you get a good feel for what guys are on the bench, and there's there's something to that. Um, but there's just Ah lot of work that goes into it, trying to figure out these players and that that's why I really the success rate in the first round. It's like 55%. I think of 50% quarterbacks, little bit less. You know all this work. We do all this information we have, and we're still wrong almost half the time. So it's just not easy to do. But you try make educated decisions and got five guys that can fit. What Ugo You want the best at it right now, man. I mean, and it's a football guys can just smile on you and keep you guys healthy..

"I think it's ridiculous to say gunner a chef T's taking over I do think that's ridiculous. But I I do think it's fair to recognize he's hit certain benchmarks that are impressive and he's kind of getting to where it was Edelman stayed on the roster initially as a punt returner if he couldn't return punts. He never would have made it there was five years before he got a main role in the offense Gunner raszewski led the NFL in punt-return average last year in Wilson all pro team. So that that's the quickest feel. I'm just saying that so far the same boxes have been checked that could end this year and Gunners peaked and that's it. I just want to point out that the same box is hacked. Check to this big hole Ki Marzi the slot receiver like he grabs Jacoby Myers. And then those are my two issues for Gunnar right. Now. The first one I wanted to go over quickly was that I actually reviewed Gunther's is a little bit of a different receiver than Julian Edelman. He is somebody that every single time out in training camp that we've seen him or the preseason. He is actually fared much better playing on the outside than in the slot with somebody that wins more on a vertical route tree than on a quick underneath Juke series type of Route tree tatelman quite of evolved over the years and became a little bit more of an intermediate filled stretcher as well. You'll go back across the field on crossers and over routes and things like that, but eventually Gunner oshetski I think needs to show me a little bit more change of Direction on a diet right is this is he truly that type of guy he kind of strikes me as a little bit more of like a build up speed type of player guy wants to get up the field quickly. Is he ever going to develop that the other thing is we saw Julian Edelman wage? Started covering the team Alex. He would be out there what three hours four hours before the kick-off doing the one-handed catches and in the lighthouse end zone, right? Yeah wage. You need to be up at 5 a.m. Every single morning to get to get from where Julian Edelman was to We're Gonna Roll schefsky was too were Edelman ended up right you need to have that type of work ethic. Type of competitive nature. And if you don't have that then he is test too much ground to cover to get there just going through percent. He has Julian Edelman build himself to NFL super stardom, right? I don't know that anybody else has done that and that's part of what makes impressive. He I mean he did that with his own will and that was it it was in similar..

"Eight hundred eighty nine reception to that date and he was still not in the hall of fame. And we're talking about julian element. I'll say this. I think that julian edelman had a fine career also will say as times have changed and my answer is no. I don't. I don't believe he's a hall of famer And we're we're discussing right now. The retirement of julian edelman listen. I want to celebrate them but but uh doing. It wouldn't be proper if we didn't have the conversation. I think it and to your point. Tj it's not about as putting them down. I think it's actually a conversation that gives him a lot of props because we're actually having the conversation on. You're listening to the dan. Patrick show with up all game crew hosmer's and plex akot burs idea of it is if the conversation ensues then there was a reason why and this conversation has continued to circulate and really really kinda grow some legs so i wanted you know to the gods. I respect the most to have opportunity to to discuss if he was a hall of famer or not from your opinion less. Let's shift gears just a little bit and and you know. I think this is a interesting topic as well. We we've discussed and prior shows about bill belichick and i you know took a lotta heaton for saying you know last week. That bill belichick seat may get warm if he doesn't have a good season this year. It kinda comes back full circle with julian edelman as the conversation of why i believe his secret. Become warm is if you can't prove that the patriot way is the patriot. Way because of bill belichick and not. Because of tom brady then. I think that time could could get interesting. Four bill belichick and also for the new england patriots. So my next my next thought process on this whole topic was are. We looking at guys as as hall of fame level players because of the new england patriot way. Because i look at it. Like this guy's julian edelman has to be looked at or is being considered and being debated as as a hall of famer. Shouldn't we look at troy brown. I shouldn't we look at dave patent. I in terms of being a super bowl. I mean you know they. Don't they have more accolades then. Then julian edelman as new england patriots. I mean there are receivers. That have come through there that to me. Were really good players..

"To hall of fame for the entirety of your career. And so i know. Plaxico played great had tremendous success in the playoffs. He didn't play in many playoff games but he was gone for the giants when they made their super bowl run. I don't hear anybody sat plates. Goldberg should be going to the hall of fame. Why is that plex. Akot amid you know you know when you when you look at you know guys going into the hall of fame and you know you know what they've accomplished your resume as far as you know. All pro all pros. Did you make and know. How many pro bowls jamaica. How many super bowls you win. So shannon sharpe. Who was not in the hall of fame. Shanna shot in myself. Sterling sterling sterling sterling shopping myself had the same exact numbers stolen shot wanting to five pro bowls and and and it was a one time all pro. I didn't make any pro and my number will better than him so there's a lot of discrepancies. As far as who should be ios in. Google is into the hall of fame. But i'm gonna give you this just like teenagers sit. Julian edelman a hall of famer. Absolutely not being a being a great playoff. Y receiver does not make you an hall of famer and these got when it comes to this wide receiver stuff as far as who should be in the hall of fame. Like i'm all. I guess sensitive about because i know how hard it is to pay the position and doing a high level and to not be recognized for your body a work almost just awesome names to your tory hole. Thirteen thousand henrietta. Thirteen thousand jimmy smith. Twelve thousand jimmy. Smith was called. J smooth cliff brand is still not in the hall of fame. Is it corey Isaac bruce torry hope he. I think he was the first wide receiver. Nfl nfl history to have six consecutive. Thirteen thousand your sees. This man is not in the hall of fame. and we're talking about julian edelman..

"Go three times super bowl champ. Julian edelman is hanging it up after twelve seasons with the patriots in a video posted to social media instead quote. I've always said. I'll go until the wheels come off and they finally have fallen off. Tom brady posted a heartfelt message on instagram. Telling many always quote shine the most in the playoffs and finished his career with a super bowl. mvp any ranks second in nfl history. With one hundred eighteen postseason receptions trailing only jerry rice. Here's shannon should he get any hall of fame considerations skewed you kill. You don't have to put me in a very uncomfortable spot because the hall of fame and they're about to go pick this up. Hall of famers sean. Julian doesn't below. Why he doesn't take. You will not be alone. Because i'm gonna guess pulled every living hall of famer data all say no. That's what i believe. I understand joy element and had a great career. He's phenomenal to be a college quarterback selected. I think if. I'm not mistaken the seventh round and to be able to use every god every give that he was given yeah to maximize his god given ability and become an nfl player to win three superbowls to be super bowl. Vp is something that we should command but to go to the hall of fame the the mecca the heaven for apple league football players in the nfl. That clubs should be very very reserve. Skip julian edelman is never been thought of as a top ten or top fifteen receiver. He's never made a pro bowl. No he's never been a first team all pro second team all pro. Yeah i just. Don't i mean it just. It doesn't add up and i pay it. I think in order. You gotta make one pro bowl t even get on the ballot for hall of fame and you gotta make at least one pro okay. Let's get look. I mean there are so many guys you look at high and ward war. Can he got two thousand cats with nine hundred nine hundred catches my brother. My brother got more than six. Seven hundred years scale like i was going to be in the hall of fame. Hadn't got. Because i look no to make a long story short short story loan. I do not believe what he was what he's done because it's too many guys list of too long when it comes to receivers that and his numbers. Just don't match up. you gotta be. You gotta be great. Not just in the playoffs. You got to be great in the regular season. Also and i just don't take his body of work is compelling enough to say it's okay julian edelman is one of the top. I mean by the time you would probably be four hundred guys in yup of the twenty five twenty six dollars a million jillion with one of the one hundred best. I just don't believe that's the case. Okay i'm going to go on record before i unleash on this. There is no way. Julian edelman never makes it into the same. It is over and done will not happen. Feel comfortable saying that. I do because i have a pretty good feel for the voters and they will be right in line with every point. You just made. They will start with zero pro bowls and that will pretty much in the conversation. But there is a case to be made for this man. And i'm going to make it here just to demonstrate. How strong his postseason cases. Because it's pretty strong in fact it's shockingly strong it is the outlier case. It breaks all of my rules on much more strict about the hall of fame than you are. Because you're in a lot of times you sit back and say yes okay. Because you don't want to look like the old curmudgeon drug keeler buddy. You don't wanna be the grumpy old man in all no i'm data period and i'm usually the guy who says that there are two halls the hall of fame and there's the hall of very good and usually you'd say a julian edelman is a candidate for the whole very good but only a candidate for that right but he has broken all of my hall of fame rules. What's my number one rule. If i have to think twice about you. You're not in my hall of fame. And i'm i'm talking about. If i say tom brady. Will you say yeah. He's in the whole thing like you don't have to think. But i could throw a lot of other quarterbacks out there. Philip rivers if i pause for a second. I'm no but you can make a strong case. Philip rumors blogs thing but he has what to show for it. Okay so now. We're back to julian edelman. Let's start with what bill belichick said. Yesterday the statement he released because it was gushing like. I'd never heard this coach gush about any player. This side of lawrence taylor seriously you can say he did this to undermine and undercut. Tom brady super bowl champ. But bill said yesterday. Few players can mass julian's achievements period but considering his professional trajectory and longevity group is even more select it is historic in the biggest games and moments which championships at stake. He reached even greater heights and delivered some his best most thrilling performances. That is very very true right. This is gushing from bill belichick. And you have a lot more respect for bill than i do. Okay what do we know about julian. Edelman in the postseason well. He's second jerry rice in every category. Okay what do we know about jerry. Roush well he's the the go-to receivers most people. I a michael irvin. Most people concur. You concur. he is the go-to received. Yes okay jerry. Rice played twenty nine postseason games to julian's nineteenth so he played ten more games but julian second every the catch yards. But if we boil it down to just yards per game right. Wait a second. Julian's at seventy six yards a game and the postseason and those nineteen jerry's at seventy seven yards a game in his twenty nine gigs. Okay catches per game in the postseason. Julie's got six again. Jerry had five so you gotta say those numbers along with at least kind of right there. He's at least in the stratosphere with jerry rise in the postseason right okay. Let's go to super bowls. Let's let's go to three super bowls that were very close games right all of them down to the wire in the first one against seattle legion of boom. We've talked and talked about it. He had twelve targets in that game and caught nine for one. Oh nine including what became the game. Winning touchdown brass. I know what happened with two minutes left and then you know the rest of the store. He got concussed remember. She got hit by camp. he kept going. He kept going in i. That was after. I thought he was out of the game in today. He would have been out of their game. I'm pretty sure right. Do we get to the atlanta comeback super bowl and he gets thirteen targets. He catches five for eighty seven. Not quite as great. But he made the catch of catches signature. Catch is the one he caught off this.

"Have winning. Mvp averaging fifteen points and eight assists then embiid has to be eligible playing fifty five or fifty seventy two games. And so while. I do think that embiid is specially if the sixers and up as the one seed has a legitimate chance at this. Lebron is gonna miss too much time and we'll see how much time he misses. And we know some voters are going to hold houston against him. Yokich if the nuggets fall murray and by the way yokich is not playing his best basketball right now. This month has been his worst month. Who's left like who's left. And so i think embiid is on the very short list and i didn't chris. Paul could get to the top of that list at some point. I would love chris paul to win it. I feel like it'd have to be sort of a legacy award though. Chris which it feels like you weren't into casting your vote that way. So embiid got brooklyn tonight chris. It feels like if he has a monster game not that this is sort of a coming out party but this is a big game against the net. Who are andre drummond. Feasted on them if he has a monster game. I'm not even talking about like a good game. A monster forty plus really like an all time like i think he could win the mvp tonight like really put everybody on notice. I am here and monster game. Maybe i'm overdoing. But i think tonight's game he could really make a case well certainly if he goes out and plays well and they beat brooklyn and he dominates. It's huge but what is the cliche but it's true. The best ability is availability. He just hasn't been there. I give you that. He's playing the best in the league. That's fine he. has it been there. Y'know and chris paul steve nassar's numbers he wanted with fifteen eleven. One year skirts. The sons have gone from last year to second in the league as far as record. I think chris is more alive than embiid. And obviously yokich. And i'm gonna include one more name that i am shocked. No one has mentioned. And i feel like for the last five years. People have had the analysis of this guy wrong when the whole world was the highest on him. I wasn't i was pumping the brakes. And now nobody ever says a word about him and he at least should be discussed co walk or coup. Why a lot of illegal games. He does not have these. but he's a metronome. it's every night. What's he gonna do. He's gonna twenty. Five points is going to give you seven rebounds four assists in the clippers. Right now are the three seat. And so like if it's a top three seed if it's a ability if it's best player on the team i the alike. Colli has to at least be included in the discussion. Especially when you know he is not a guy who has missed tying this year now he is load manage to a degree but nothing like last year and he hasn't been. He hasn't had a significant injury. So quietly has to be included in our discussion of the award for short. He won't win but he could be in the top five. There's no doubt five place getters. He could be in that top five i. I don't think he can win. The nascar cup series is back on fox as they battle in the short track at richmond. Catchall that action. Sunday threes turn on fox and the fox sports at all right time now for some stores to start your morning brought to you by subway. Talk in the blockbuster news out of the nfl. Julian edelman announcing his retirement. I know what. You're thinking blockbuster jenna blockbuster unless you're a die. Hard patriots fan. Kevin wiles took the news a bit hard. They'll tell you in a second anytime a super bowl. Mvp and three time super bowl champion if future hall of famer perhaps hangs it up. It is big news. Here's more from. Julian element himself talavera. Run i can't forget you. Patriot nation. You guys have welcome me and my family to a region we do not know we didn't know but now i want you me you guys were two words foxborough forever chairs of just drop the like walk off was leaning into the drama pro. Football fame tweeted that adamant is eligible for induction in two thousand and twenty six are kevin wiles. You've been calling julian hall of famer for as long as there has been julian. Is he a hall of famer. And if so why well you know what. It's a trick. Question is like his hall of famer. Julian edelman famous. Who's buried in grant's tomb. It's like oh he's not a hall of famer. It's twenty two thousand six. That's all being helped us out there so if anyone asks you that it's a trick question. The tomb is above ground. Grant is still in it. And however so. I made a petition janet if we could unveil it on the three reasons why julen element is definitely famer. The first one all stability the best ability and availability brady thrown five hundred and forty one touchdowns to seventy seven different players. Want to hear the three most pure you do. Gronk great randy. Moss legend eshelman. All time great and a legend great job battlements. So yes. Stability and reliability or their reason number two versatility versatility. We'll surely just wide receiver wild. Oh contrairement brand. Everybody knew he was a quarterback in college and high school also quarterback in the nfl. When six or six very important touchdown also returned kicks also returned punts also play defense. Oh wild why did you show this. Because a researcher dusty is an eagles fan was talking trash to the point that i thought he got hacked with the amount of slander. He's putting on his feet for the fact buddy watching. Julian element sack. The eagles reason number three. This is the most obvious reason surprised that people are overlooking it hall of fame. There's a certain hall of fame this to julian edelman because he coming up clutching the big spots. I don't know why don't you say that while well. Yeah and one of the greatest catches in super bowl history. Maybe the greatest catch oddly. I think the helmet catch was better because it kind of hurt my soul but is right there in the league leaders with receptions and yards and he won three super bowl rings and a super bowl. Mvp so i. If i understand your mr analytics. I will offer you olive branch. When canton builds their patriots wing. Which the patriots deserve to put it all the great patriots who have bullied dominated the league for the last two decades and decades moving forward. Certainly element belongs here. If you don't want to put him in the main way of the hall of fame that's fine. There will be a connecting hallway. Perhaps you could be there. Have one foot in the real fame. One put in the pa- and the patriots wing hall of fame. And then everybody. In before you put the younger generic online having beyond branch in there so it's a great call eight hongs in their heels. All famer. The news media. I'm so mad. I'm so mad at you. That i i don't want to be the bad guy. I don't wanna be a jerk. People in the greater new england area already have plenty of reasons. They don't like me. And now on julian edelman.
Tom Brady Salutes Julian Edelman on Retirement
"New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman retired yesterday. Tom Brady paid tribute. I've always said Will go until the wheels come off, and they finally have fallen off. Due to an injury last year. We make in my official announcement of my retirement from football. Was a hard decision, but the right decision for me and my family and I'm honored and so proud to be retiring a patriot. So in the best 12 years of my life, not can't forget you Patriot Nation. I would go straight to the guest but there was such a kerfuffle about julian edelman and the hall of fame monday i was i was gobsmacked. I don't think i've used that word. And twenty twenty one yet. I was gobsmacked when i got the text message from a buddy. Oh julian edelman retiring and jump on twitter to see what's going on and he's in the hall of fame. Whoa whoa all right. Before i take that apart. Let me just tease this. Charles robinson longtime reporter yahoo sports. He is the interview today. he is in a word. Phenomenal guys a great reporter. You've got a good match jones story. I think you're gonna like what he's Kind of agreeing with me on the tampa bay buccaneers and being a major problem in the nfc and the potential re chances for repeat. I mean maybe going undefeated. It's a little insane but you got to hear him out. Really good stuff on the draft process. I think you're gonna like charles robinson and remember subscribe rate review all right briefly on julian edelman. The first you do with player when they retire. And you hear hall of fame is all. Let me punch up the stats. Julian edelman Okay he had three one thousand yard receiving seasons. Well one thousand yards isn't what it used to be. Okay let's see. What did he lead the league in. Nothing ever folks. We're talking about a really talented player. No doubt about he's a great story. Eshelman is your quintessential. nfl story the stuff. Dreams are made of college quarterback at kent state just a great athlete. Five ten buck ninety college quarterback bill belichick famously enamored with his skill set decides. We're going to draft julian edelman. This is what eshelman said when he called when bill called undrafted. Hey this is coach spellcheck. We're going to draft you. Top 10 players signed by Patriots
"Talk about the Patriots. The the Patriots grabbed everybody's attention by making move after move after move after move. Like we're watching it over agency going off. How many people are going to bring in its kind of unbelievable how many starters they've added? And so I count they added ten players that I think are very very significant to their team next year. In fact, I would say pretty clearly the Patriots are back and a lot of people saw this coming, you know, but they are going to be a force in the NFL next year here is my list my nerdy list of the ten players the top players. They added that are very significant to their roster next year. The first two are massive. It will reshape the entire Patriots offense. They added two tight ends Johnny Smith and Ed Hunter Henry. To Johnny Smith signed from Tennessee. He signed a four year deal worth up to fifty million dollars. That's Thirty one point two five million dollars guaranteed and he's only twenty-four years old. So that's Monday. That's a really gigantic Marquis franchise player. He cited the reason why it came to New England is cuz he loves Bill Belichick. He's got great respect for him. And I want to point out of all the everybody I'm about to talk about these shows to be in New England Bill Belichick got his kind of guys who sought out New England wanted to be there and wanted to work hard and win a Superbowl. I think it matters. It's very very exciting. These are not with Josh Gordon's or what's the other example Phillip Dorsett who they made a move for and they're not really like that. You think they fit they don't work out know. These are guys who all chose to be in New England who wanted to win a Superbowl. I really want to win a Superbowl. These guys went out of their way to be New England now the other tight and they brought in With twenty-six-year-old tight end Hunter Henry from the LA Chargers got a three-year deal twenty-five million dollars guaranteed. It's worth up to thirty seven point five million dollars total if he meets all those incentives. They also added two wide receivers the Patriots brought in Nelson agholor to a you got a two year twenty six million dollar contract East twelve years old. Now a lot of people do not like this move and I I get it Nelson agholor is not the most flashy player in the NFL but I think if it's very well with Cam Newton, he's good at he's not going up and getting the ball. He's got good hands did some stuff of the Raiders that I think deserves your attention go watch what he did with the Raiders and I just I'm like, huh a lot of good plays. Okay. I understand. I see the potential Bill Belichick and the Patriots would see and Nelson agholor go will give the guy a good contract, especially considering the Patriots have like our desolate at wide receiver. They need help. They got home. Who is awesome but he can't do everything by himself from the slot. They have n'keal Harry who n'keal Harry. I I think he's going to pop. I think he's going to progress and keep getting better. But she's not a number one right now. So on top of the page where it's also added Kendrick Bourne guy from my local area actually went to Eastern Washington University 25 years old. He's coming from the San Francisco 49ers. He got a three year deal worth twenty two point five million dollars. Now another thing the Patriots did they also added they signed Center Ted carriages and they traded for tackle Trent Brown. So this is the new Patriots offense right now. They've receivers Nelson agholor, Julian Edelman Kendrick born and kill hair is its own nuclear Aguilera. I'm doing my best. It's a hard game to say. They also have Sony Michelle running backs for any receivers Sony Michelle at running back and improved offensive line. Cam Newton at quarterback who I get why people doubt Cam? He's a former NFL MVP and with when you put cams Talent with a lot of weapons including two outstanding tight ends Hunter Henry Smith, right man. I'll tell you what I look at the Patriots offense and think two things immediately number one. Everything is going to run through their brand new Titans. Their entire offense now is probably going to drive down the seams of the field right up the middle. They're going to use our tents heavily lot of play-action again. I am scheme wise things will look a lot like the page words did back in the day when they had drunk and Aaron Hernandez together to start tight ends. Now number two. I feel very very confident with Cam Newton as the Patriots quarterback and it surprised me but I want to remind you that two years ago. Tom Brady was the page word starting quarterback and did basically nothing and the reason was there were no weapons there. He kept running into the same brick wall. His receivers weren't good enough. So, how can I think you and I would both agree. I like Cam Newton Tom Brady's a better quarterback than Cam Newton. So my point is if Tom Brady couldn't make it work with New England's roster. How was Cam Newton supposed to succeed? He was set up to fail will now Cam Newton's being given weapons is being set up to do. Well, I'm excited man. He's a former NFL MVP, he's hungry. I I personally believe Cam Newton's going to have an awesome year and it really is going to make extended one-year deal with like it was like three and a half million dollars with a bunch of incentives. I honestly think we're gonna look back at his contract at the end of next year and go. Can you believe the deal they got on Camden he played so well for no money. I really think he's he's a guy who can didn't play well enough wage. Last year to earn a new gigantic contract. So he's going to have to show what he can do this year and maybe earn more money next year but I think cam is poised to do very very well and make a lot of money and win a lot of games in New England
Free Agency 2021: Biggest Winners and Losers From Day One
"Who's the biggest winner from day. One the biggest winner from day one already told you it was. It was a my intro. You're listening great question. Jonnu smith out. It's cam newton. Well that depends kenyans a starter for sixteen games. That's right that's true. It's yeah okay. Potentially find jonah smith. Donald smith big contract with the patriots They invest heavily in him. You like this for him i do. I think you know Obviously the quarterback is the concern. But this is the scenario especially with the move that they made that we look for in fantasy as tight end could be the leader of the pack in terms of targets and opportunities and so look cam was not good in twenty twenty. If cam does start sixteen games in two thousand twenty. One greg olsen. During a five year stretch was pretty awesome of the top tier tight ends of the guys that we did. We talk about what he was in the next group you know. And so from twenty two thousand twenty sixteen. Greg olsen averaged a hundred eighteen targets a season seventy seven catches Decide one thousand yards and five times. Johnny could do that. One season estimate put them right around a top five tight end. Greg olsen was great and not only was he great but we also saw from cam newton in that stretch that he could give you greg olsen. Who could finish as a top eight tight in five straight seasons and give you a number to wide receiver in four of those five seasons three or four of those five seasons whether it was. Steve smith or kelvin. Benjamin and even ted ginn one year. So that's interesting. I'll afforded talking about that on the show tomorrow on the tuesday morning show and then of course we'll have a whole bunch of more news items to react to. Hopefully we'll get some kenny golladay news at some point on tuesday or maybe it'll happen later on monday night as record this at about nine fifteen eastern. Who's the biggest loser from day. One the biggest loser from day one on asking these questions before. I told you that we were starting with these egypt's before the show The biggest guys they ryan tannehill johnny smith and Us down smith and corey davis They're going to have to struggle to replace those guys Davis probably more. So the jonah just from the standpoint of what he was last year with his production number two receiver sixty five catches nine hundred plus yards and five touchdowns. So we'll see what they do in in in that in that regard but i think Tannehill you know. I had him as the number eleven quarterback. I dropped in the thirteen after today. Just because i think it was close between in my mind. Joe burrow and tom brady put them behind both those guys. Okay how 'bout jameis winston ryan tannehill right now. It's soom jameis winston as the starter. I still go. i think it'd be messy. You know. I can't situation we're taking those not blaming So i was hoping james would go someplace else and tastes hill. Would still be the guy with maybe a rookie or somebody. Young that they could groom continued. Just gonna to get you know too much of the mill package of james as the starter and if as milton starter. Davis is gonna play very much so it just feels like it be messy situation oil. Who do you like better. Corey davis with the jets nelson agholor with the patriots. I think adler is going to be bad. I don't trust the situation. You know i mean he. He had so many big. Plays for the raiders last year and he was so good for derek carr but he did that on eighty two targets. I don't think he gets eighty two targets with the patriots. He's going to do the same thing. So with what cam does running the ball with what jonah smith brings to the table with. What the rest of the receiving corps will look like if julian edelman on the team if he's healthy Nagla is going to be A guy that's not on many fantasy rosters middle of the season whereas corey davis could be the best receiver for the jets. I don't know if that's going to be the case. But i would take davis by far over niagara.

Meyers Leonard Fined $50,000 and Suspended for Using an Anti-Semitic Slur
"Basketball player suspended for using a racial slur off the court. Miami Heat Center Meyers Leonard was fined $50,000 today and suspended for one week by the end before his use of an anti Semitic slur streamed live while he was playing a video game this week. NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said Myers Leonard's comment was inexcusable and hurtful inside. An offensive term has no place in the N B A or in our society. Is This the End for Julian Edelman?
"To jump in there for a second about Edelman them cuz Here's my thought. Does it tell us about his future if he comes back to you like, you know, I'm kind of looking at this and wondering well, wait a minute if if Edelman comes back for the offer a couple of games in a losing season. Does that mean he's going to walk does that mean this is it and he just want he knows his knee as bad. It's bone on bone. He got the surgery or whatever. He got done going back several weeks ago. So he wants to go out playing and he's saying to himself, you know, I'm going to be thirty-five this knee is shredded just to go out there, you know one or two more times I could see it makes them because Greg if I'm the Patriots I have absolutely zero reason to play Julian Edelman in these games if he's coming back next year. Yeah. It's a look Nick. It's a valid point by you. You know, I I think it's it's it's something that that will be one of the things that we're watching here down the stretch. I mean, you know, I understand Bill Belichick's Mantra about, you know, trying to watch every game and I'm sure he wants to Thailand reform most winning seasons and you know, all that stuff but you know, what is the what what would be the point of playing Julian Edelman in these kind of these last three games? I mean, I hope he's not out there on Sunday, you know most of the time when these guys that they've started the clock. I don't I don't know if any of them have returned for that immediate game. It's normally been like get your feet wet. Yeah with practice then we'll see how it goes rest over the weekend, then we'll attack it and then you'll be back for the last two games or what-have-you, you know barring some sort of, you know win in Miami and also a bunch of losses or something like that where they're not eliminated this weekend. Yeah. I just I don't understand the point of playing Edelman and I think I think you're right. I think it off. Mark to think if he does come back for these last couple of games and who knows maybe, you know part of the thing with these contracts with especially with the Patriots is a lot of money is tied into per game roster bonuses and things like that. So maybe he wants has his money and but yeah, if he comes back and plays into games when the Patriots are officially eliminated from the postseason you had to think is this is he doing it just to sort of wave to the fans who won't be in the crowd at the stadium which will be now that now that I set it out loud, that would be kind of a sad way for Julian. I'd be awful. Yeah, actually that just bummed me out a little bit actually saying that and imagining Julian Edelman playing his last game for the Patriots and a game where it doesn't matter off against the Jets. In front of no one like all right. Now I just decided just talking about it. I don't want that to happen. So now now now I've also now all of a sudden I've changed too. I do not want to see him in. Anyway. Just wanted to get healthy. I wanted to come back refreshed go get a new knee in the off-season. What have you come back next year when there will be fans in the stands. We hope but yeah, I mean, I think your your read on this is exactly right and it's it's actually bumming out right now.
The Problem With Newton's Throwing Game in Rams Loss
"Version Cam Newton did we see here what he was asked to pass. Well, I thought that he saw the field decently well and I think he's making solid decisions with the football. The timing could be a little bit better and there's certain instances where I think the timing is more of a factor than others for instance the defaulted to Mere bird on the double move. The pressure really was a factor on that play and he had to slide up in the pocket to avoid the pressure. But if he doesn't have to slide up and he's able to throw them all on time and that's probably a touchdown or at least a more competitive play right instead of two guys being all over damiere Byrd at the catch point. He's behind the defense. He probably has an opportunity to catch that ball the other kind of issue that I I kind of see what the timing is on the short throws, you know, James White's production and and ability to affect the passing game has really hurt a lot because the cam and I don't need to put it all on cam. But when you see James White Run routes out of the backfield, he's the type of guy that you need to get him the ball sooner rather than later. You can't hold the ball and then throw the ball to James White the flat because of the players deserve. And to get James White one on one with somebody in the in space on the outside on the boundary, then the ball needs to get into his hands sooner than so he can read and react and make a play and make somebody Miss. So he saw that third down on the opening drive where they ended up having to go for it on fourth down cam just Waits an extra tick. It's just an extra tickets literally half a beat and because of that half a bead by the time James White catches the ball game turns upfield the DB is right on right and if he's able to get the ball out just a little bit quicker than James White has some time 15-20 yard game, right. He has some time to shake somebody and and eluded tackle or Thursday through the angle or whatever the case may be. So those are the little things that you see with cans timing and the timing of the entire operation that when you only throw the ball nineteen times and you start to count, you know, okay, you have the Mist default and your bird and there was a Crossing route to Jacobi Myers. That was a really tough throw that came just missed by like an inch or two and you have to make that pass because then you have to make the double dog. Work with bird and you have to get James White the ball sooner in the flat and these little things these nitpicks truly. They are nitpicks folks. We you go watch other quarterback play and it's not it's not all sunshine and rainbows for the other 31 teams either and I think we get too caught up in the minutiae of where is his Fleet and you know, his shoulders are flying open as hips are doing that and he's not pointing towards his Target and this that and the other thing I think it's too much conversations about those little things and not enough conversations about the big picture things, which is really just timing and kind of understanding what you know, your answers are that kind of stuff that I think is more important probably than all the little manush has like the throwing mechanics and things like that. Yeah, and we talked about this last week just under rated quarterback skill off of of being a dink-and-dunk quarterback. It's it's it's it's there's such negative connotations behind it. But the the Precision that it takes and the timing chain, And the placement all of those things is the difference between 4 yard losses and fifteen yard gains sometimes and those are big plays potentially if you hit them right and and being able to do that within the rhythm of this office is difficult seeing obviously James White be neutralized because there's not a lot of Playmakers on this team and he is one so finding a way to get him going. I think that really goes hand-in-hand with Cam being able to do this off
Patriots Special Teams Help Shut Out Los Angeles
"Couple of things from this game. I wanted to highlight the Special Teams. I will say I know a lot of people are looking at the Chargers and saying well the Chargers are terrible and that's true. But let's not forget Gunner olszewski should have had a touchdown against the Cardinals as well the week before if it was just Blindside block whether it was a legit call or not, you know, hey, that's what happened and it would have been a touchdown. So now that's two straight weeks that we've seen Gunner olszewski have three really good punt returns. I do think that means something because how many years did we sit around and say man, can they just find somebody other than Julian Edelman that could first field upon and then second make a play and I thought the second returned by Gunnar olszewski. It was a great job by him. You know, I do think if you get a little nerdish inside of what happened the touchdown return that's because the Patriots play games with the Chargers. They had, you know, they brought what looked like it was going off. And all blocked punt and that was to bring the Gunners in and because the Gunners came in on that formation thinking that the Patriots were going to try to block the punt. They couldn't get down field in time to get to Gunner Gunner gets a touchdown the second return that Gunner had that was really good. That was Gunner, you know setting up his blocks the hesitation move being patient. So I do think there's something that you can take from it. Are you going to get touchdowns every week? Of course not but if somebody can actually feel pumped consistently in maybe give this offense better field position Greg that's huge because we know this offense is not been consistent. So if you can get some extra yardage from a special teams, especially on the punt unit. I do think that means something
Boston - Julian Edelman Placed On COVID-19 List By New England Patriots
"Edelman. Not the news because of his knee issue but now because of coping nineteen. I think his knee was a bit of the conversation and bill belichick was talking about him and saying that he was headed in the right direction He wouldn't rule out a return and he sounded optimistic. That you know just knowing delman as well as he does at this guy is really one of the toughest players on their team and he expected that he he definitely gave a hint that he would be back and it was later in the day that we found out that he was added to the reserve. Covid nineteen list so that just complicates the picture years that i would say feel pretty comfortable and i don't know how many how many people are still. He's only rostered and thirty. Four percent of leaks has elements. So if you're holding onto him. I'm guessing he's in your ira slot the patriots. Leave friday for los angeles. They play back to back games. Chargers and rams the rams game on thursday night game. So they're just they're staying. Ucla for the week like either the earliest we see. Join them in. Is the back side of that. So when they return and what would be thirty four week fifteen i think. The patriots closed with the every. Afc team to finish off the season. I think that would be the earliest you'd see back at the at the very end so and fantasy wise guys like don't think he needs to be added right now. We'll see in the next couple just imagined this like you'd have to see element in week. Fifteen acre comeback. Be play well and see. You'd have to still be in your fantasy football playoffs so a lot of work to be done before making him a reliable fantasy asset one more time but a guy that has defined you mentioned bill. Belichick has a lot of confidence in in terms of his rehab right now.
Miami Dolphins ship wide receiver to the New England Patriots
"A four game losing streak, the Patriots prepare for their Monday night match up with the New York Jets. One of the teams bright spots during the recent struggles has been wide receiver Jacoby Meyers. He's been able to snag 10 catches over his last two games after receiving more playing time due to the injuries of wide receivers Julian Edelman and Mikael Harry. Offensive coordinator Josh McDaniel spoke today about Myers. Always ready to go, You know, always ready to take advantage of the opportunities that she's given. And I thoughtyou Kobe did a nice job on Sunday and being ready to go. She's you know. Encouraged by what he's been able to do, and I look forward to continue to grow and improve with him as we move forward, and the Patriots did make a trade today, acquiring wide receiver Isaiah Ford from the Miami Dolphins in return for a 2022 7th round pick.
Cam Newton says he’s ‘extremely confident’ in his receivers at Boston's New England Patriots
"Back on the practice field today in preparation of their big divisional matchup with the Buffalo Bills this Sunday. The Pats will be without wide receiver Julian Edelman has reports say Edelmann had a precautionary knee procedure this morning, and he'll miss a period of time. With Mikhail Harry. Also possibly out this weekend, Quarterback Cam Newton was asked today about his confidence in the rest of his receivers have all confidence and you know whoever is out there, and wherever the Reed takes me, you know that's where the ball is going to go. So if it's not Julian if it's not, But if it's not, you know whomever. You know, I just got to be ready, Teo to rock and roll and get the ball out and, you know, make decisions and we
From Brady To Newton: Julian Edelman Details Patriots’ Change At Quarterback in Boston
"Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman spoke with the media today and off the bat. He was asked about the departure of long time teammate Tom Brady. Obviously way played ball together. I love in a death, but you know, the train keeps moving. Also what? It stood out to him about new quarterback Cam Newton got a great energy about himself. I was really impressed with his work ethic. And his mindset, you know, just like I've been impressed with with systems and lawyers, no throne with those guys as well. Everyone's competing at all positions in a competition makes us all
Tom vs. Team: Why Brady is Moving On
"Well amidst everything happening in the world. Right now Tom Brady singlehandedly. Wrestle control of the new cycle and in the process basically gave us in sports media a miniature stimulus package by announcing that. He's leaving the New England patriots. Seth you have covered Brady forever. You've been to his house. You've covered this team for a while. What was your initial reaction to today's news? I think it's been in the works for a long time. I think it's been in the works since training camp and I think that people just didn't want to believe it New England fans didn't want to believe it some media members didn't believe it. Even people close to Tom. Brady didn't want to believe it. Even the people who did believe it in some ways didn't WanNa believe it and yet here we are I should note here that all season long says McCain has been texting me. I think this happened. I think this is going to happen. And I've written back really come on really stuff so you were right and here. We are and as you mentioned not. Everything's been roses in New England for quite a while now and we'll get to that but until I think this season. It didn't seem realistic to a lot of people that he would actually leave. So let's go back to the beginning of the year. When did that start change? Well I think that he almost left training camp because he was so frustrated about the contract negotiations that were going on with the Patriots for years. Now he is wanted a commitment and he has said with every ounce of sincerity that he wants to play until he's forty five years old and I think there's a part of him that felt like he had earned that commitment from the New England patriots but in lieu of that. He just wanted clarity. If you don't want me here fine I'll move on but you have to let me know and in the fall of eighteen. He signed what was termed at the time. As a two year extension was not an extension it was essentially five million dollars in bonuses that he never hit and then this year he entered the year as fifteen million dollar quarterback on the books which is astounding in August. He and his camp were in negotiations with the Patriots again. They were not interested in committing beyond a year to him and again reportedly he almost left training camp because he was so frustrated about it but when he finally did commit to playing and sign the deal he said all along that he was just an employee there. I show up and do my job. I'm an employee like everyone else. I'M GONNA show this week to do the best. I can do a quarterback when he said I'm just an employee here that was a little bit different and everybody always knew that even though Tom Brady could say he was a player just a player. Everyone knew that he was Tom Brady. Everyone knew that he could talk to. Robert Kraft whenever he wanted to. Everybody knew he go to Robert. Kraft's house whenever he wanted to so. It was always a little ridiculous that he would say that. I find your point about him saying. I'm just an employ really interesting because everybody knows that bill belichick is fairly ruthless. Really when it comes to you know how he manages personnel in his job is GM. He will move on from a star a legend right away but it was always the assumption. Tom Brady was above that he was not just an employee. He wasn't just any player to ballot. Check do you think that changed at some point recently or do you think that's always been the case? I think it's always been the case but I think what changed was Tom's perspective. I think the assumption was that it was Bella. Check who would be willing to move on from Brady and cut or trade him. Even though we all knew that Robert Kraft was never gonNa let him cut or trade. Tom Brady unless things got so bad that he had no choice to do it. I think there was always the presumption that Tom Brady wanted to retire a Patriot and again the past couple of years. There's been a lot of turmoil in the building. Twenty years is a long time to spend working so closely with a ruthlessly driven coach like bill. Belichick there's one assistant who told me working one year with bill. We'll take a year off your life and Tom's been in that system for a long time and he's tired he wants to do something new. I think that's were Brady. Decided to take control of his story and changed things Brady starts talking about himself as an employee and I think this sense of unease sets in did that persist throughout the twenty nine thousand nine season. He's a professional bill. Belichick said professional once. They're they're they're going to do everything they can to win every week but the season for the Patriots was weird season. It was a weird season because their offense didn't pull its weight for the entire year and that's very rare especially the last half of Brady's career with the patriots as they become they become so much of a pass. Heavy offense dominated team you know. Obviously they had Antonio Brown pretty was very excited to play with him. They light up the dolphins with Brown in the lineup. Antonio Brown had been accused of sexual assault then. A sports illustrated article comes out detailing. All kinds of new allegations and Robert Kraft who says he doesn't involve himself in personnel and football decisions makes a decision organizationally that they're gonNA move on from him. Brady was very upset about that and I think bill belichick was upset about it too. They wanted to see what the offense could do with Brown and so I think that's one of those sort of hidden moments from the season that I think ends up becoming a bigger deal than it was because after that the New England Patriots is here without Rob Gronkowski. Just couldn't get a receiver as open as they were accustomed to in the past. And so the offense just didn't play very well into remember at one point in the season. It looks like the Patriots were. They were talking about going undefeated again and then they lose to Miami in the last game of the season at home and then they come out against the titans in the in the wildcard round of the playoffs. The Patriots were beaten up for most of the game and yet late in the game. The Patriots got the ball back and it just looked like they were going to recapture the magic. The magic that were so accustomed to seeing from Tom Brady. He hit a pass for about twenty yards. Got a little bit of breathing room and then the drive just stalled and on second down Brady threw outside of Julian Edelman white behind Brady Bunch. Before it was an out route join Dorset Britain dropped back. It was a route two oldest football. It's a route that these guys have run so many times over the years short set walks in on the side at the forty five yard line turning to run an element dropped the ball and even though that's not when the game ended it felt like the game ended right there. You could feel the air. Go Out of the stadium. You could feel the wind. Go out the New England patriots sideline it just felt that after twenty years after all those super bowls after winning and losing some of the greatest games in NFL history. This run was over. That's the way it felt to me. Tennessee titans have come into foxborough and defeated. Tom Brady and the pats twenty to thirteen in his wildcard. Rob You were there. What was brady like in the aftermath? I've seen Tom Brady. After a lot of losses I've seen him after a lot of season ending losses. He looks physically ill. After losing a game that ends their season but against the titans after losing game ended their season this year. He seemed different. Usually Tom waits a long time. The game to come to the podium and granted the game ended late but he came out of the locker room like a hurricane and he got to the podium and was in no rush to leave. He sat he chatted. There's nobody who had a better career I would say to me. I just being with them so I'm very blessed and I don't know what the future looks like so I'm not going to predict it so I wish you'd want tonight and We should done a lot of things better over the course season but we just tend to get the job done. It was just a different vibe that he put out there that I've ever seen before and when he left and he walked out. He just had a vibe that he was over it he was done.
A phone call between Tom Brady and Bill Belichick reportedly 'didn't go well' as free-agency rumors around the 43-year-old quarterback heat up

"julian edelman" Discussed on The Herd with Colin Cowherd
"Does not give you a linear path. It's not sunny every day with no traffic. And the kids slept through the night and use leaped perfectly and the eggs were just right. That's not life. That's a television show. That's a script. Life has having to overcome crap. Bad bosses average help late to work a wreck. You gotta use an apt to get there. That's what life's all about Tom Brady yesterday. I've said this about LeBron James the most impressed I've ever been with LeBron James in my life wasn't winning with the great. Kyrie Irving wasn't winning with Chris Bosh and the great delayed when LeBron James lost Kevin love, and Kyrie Irving and took the golden warriors. Golden State Warriors six games in the finals and has the best most reliable teammate. He had was Matthew Della Vedova, and he took the warriors six games with Matthew della. Vedova? Are you kidding me? There's never been a basketball player in curbing, Michael Jordan, Kareem magic Koby Larry MJ that could. Matthew, Della Vedova and got six games into the finals, overcoming stuff blows me away. That's why Hollywood makes movies about rags to riches about people that don't get perfectly. What they want yesterday the game winning drive. I read a story this morning that essentially with nine minutes to go in the game. Josh mcdaniels went to the sideline. The patriot offensive coordinator and said I'm scrapping the game plan. Nothing's working. We're going to do something. And we haven't practiced this in months we're going to huddle every play we're gonna use two tight ends in a fullback and have an empty backfield. And they huddled every play because they hadn't practiced it. And they averaged on that drive twelve yards of play the rest of the game. They average four by the way, I'm not saying last year Super Bowl wasn't impressive for Tom who threw for five hundred yards and everything worked and Danny amendola was opened. And element was open. And Chris HOGAN was open. I'm not saying that wasn't impressive. But what was impressive yesterday is the Rams virtually everything away except Julian Edelman and I love Patrick Mahomes. And I love Russell Wilson. I love Andrew luck. I love Aaron Rodgers their all amazing toes guys aren't winning a Super Bowl with Julian Edelman? Are you kidding me? Did it never deep threat? They couldn't sold her running backs. They're running game was spotty. Chris HOGAN was blanketed Brady faced interior pressure. The Rams had an unbelievable game plan and Brady with a seventy one quarterback passer rating one by the way, let me tell you the quarterbacks who have been able to win Super Bowls when they didn't play. Great Terry Bradshaw. Ninety six passing yards won a Super Bowl. John Elway fifty one point nine passer rating won a Super Bowl. Peyton Manning won a Super Bowl with a passer rating of fifty six Big Ben when a Super Bowl with a passer rating of twenty two and Tom Brady yesterday one with a seventy one what are they all have in common? Their hall of fame level players most quarterbacks in this league, Kirk cousins, guys I like Alex Smith, they need a lot of stuff to work for them to win big games. Nothing or for new. England, except Ataman. We're spoiled. We've had so many good Super Bowls in a row that if it's not a firework show, but then go to overtime if it's not thirty five thirty four who cared yesterday was all about great defensive game plans. Great defensive pass rush. Great secondary. Play a defenses were unbelievable yesterday. Wade Phillips tip of the cap. Bella check Brian Flora's tip the cap, but one player on offense was able to overcome that scrap the game plan beer a source vol using just Jillian edleman and win the Super Bowl Tom Brady. I want to shift to this. Great to have you ended on Monday really is great to have you in. I wanna talk a bit about Julian Edelman because there's five or six patriots that create the core of their team gronk and Brady and Eshelman. Devon McCorvey Dante Hightower shack Mason and not all of them are high paid most are paid below market value. They are the core of the team and I'm all for free agents, and I'm all for trades. But realize when you get somebody via trade.

"They're trying to get a day better than yesterday i'll ask you probably know the answer in advance but i'm going to do my job and ask anyway disney's team at all compared to either of the two championship teams that you report of it honestly i can't even answer that because i haven't been in the trenches with them and every team is different i mean that that the two teams that i won with uh what i was a part of uh those teams were completely different in an with themselves uh so you never really know unless you're a guy you know on that fifty three forty six on game day that that's out there playing and and seeing in the eyes of of fellas in in uh in the huddle and and seeing how things go i mean i can't i can't i can't answer that question i'm not part of it i'm gonna go back to those championship teams i'm going to ask you this do you think you're ever going to get tired of being asked about your catch in the super bowl as she two two parents all receiver animated has sued the remake can instantly law of the day overcome they you just don't want to talk about anymore yeah i mean they it's you get pretty tired of it already already i mean i don't even think about that play i think about the third down on right out of the three in out our defense gave us.

"Here's the thing i think they're good enough to make the playoffs they may have lost warned game many already when you look at all the teams that are in front of them and that they are vying with right now they're going to have to be flawless down the stretch now the good thing for them is that it really is starting to look more more like aaron rodgers will be back next week against carolina all that will take his medical clearance and the doctors and them winning sunday against the cleveland browns if they can win sunday and he gets medical clearance i think he plays against carolina and if he plays against carolina then their chances are increased infinitesimally but the problem is nearly plays against carolina at still a tough tina managers to win that game exert and they've got to win out here to make the playoffs in a conference that just stacked with good teams absolutely adam we know that you're not a coach you're a journalist but if you were a football coach sam rubio at rubio theme thirty one wants to know if you could shoes any team to coach in the nfl left one would it be wipro article to philadelphia eagles because that means i will get a 23 24yearold cross a winter my job would be safe for the next ten twelve years so if i'm going to pick a team to coach i know philadelphia's a tough media market to fans are impatient they get angry i got all that but i'm going where i can coach a quarterback for the next twelve years because of i got a great young quarterback and carson winces than my job is basically safe as long as i do things and hanna myself right then through and let's say you do when a super bowl their your uh your deified well in philadelphia i would love to be defined with other.

"Opinions perspectives i think some youth there might do them some good i think that the look at that i know people wonder about vance joseph future i i don't believe they want to plan to intend to let him go but i also know that there's going to be four weeks left in the season and they're going to be some games that they have in december where their home stadium is gonna be lightly filled for games they're probably gonna wind up losing the fans are gonna get increasingly angry and they're still is more time in the season to soil things so even though the broncos don't want to do anything and don't plan do anything you just never release things out because december can be an ugly month for losing teams having type of seasons that the broncos have had this year absolutely we obviously know the broncos are not going to win the afc west but case in floyd wants to know at this point atom who's your money on to win that division i think right now kansas city as the home game against the chargers and i know the chiefs have been slumping and struggling and they're not doing much of anything right the defense's suddenly spree leaks but the fact the matter is the charter still have to go there the raiders are competing but here's the problem with the raiders schedule three the last four games or on the road and they play teams all vying for the playoffs so of those three teams i don't like the raiders at all the chargers are really coming on their hotter than the chiefs they're playing better football on the chiefs but they still have to go win in arrowhead in december and if they can do that than they deserve to in the afc west while we're playing the prediction game adam joey at joey m avino wants to know will the packers make the playoffs yes or no.

"Nickel higher i used to hear the same thing about coercion wentz this september of his final season in north dakota state had a gm comments i got my sleep quarterback i'm gonna be able to get in the third round coercion wentz and of course it didn't happen that way because there are other teams that call me in octobernovember and all of a sudden everybody who by carsten once and eventually the philadelphia eagles traded up go get him with the second overall pick so there are these quarterbacks uh there are other quarterbacks out there this quarterback in north carolina state up begun to hear a lot about luke falk is out there mason rudolf i've heard quite a bit about an there are supposedly other quarterbacks out there as well josh so it it it goes deep and it's going to be bountiful and there's gonna be a chance for plenty of teams with quarterback questions to go find a quarterback anatomy talked about the guys who study this foural living yeah mel and todd bear on podcast it's called first draft a new episode dropped yesterday tuesday so if the draft is your thing do yourself a favor check that out in your favorite podcast and platform and what's there take on quarterbacks right now jay jay say it's incredibly deep out of yet himmler you got alpha and and they they said that josh rosen is the most polished but other guys may have a higher ceiling speaking of the draft this question from ryan brothers at brothers ryan given the broncos recent lack of draft success adam what changes do you anticipate them making in the way they scout in draft talon a lot of guys are saying john elway might means the all new heat under that seat you know it's funny they want the super bowl a couple of years they on genoa gets an extension where the richest extensions for nedical executive at all times and other questions and people criticising because they're having the worst season that they've had in franchise history since nineteen sixty seven and i covered that team fifteen years and losing doesn't play well there or anywhere so i understand it i think what they may do as they me look to infuse some young personnel people into their for an office to try to get another different set of eyes.
