"I do not understand that reference they played with under lapping centrebacks to get into the primarily and that was what chris wilder was famous for innovating which now her donaldson is used very. Well it would not be shocked. Would that be shocked of her. Non lozada was a big blades. His midnight viewing sessions. The demanded seems to be completely plugged in at all times to sock. So what was there under laughing. Centreback was based out of a back five and did it have more to do with positioning or literally like carrying the ball like looking for guys to gerbil because the second one yeah a but more centreback than than fullbacks they. They felt like they were less mobile players and it was and it was more. I think creating angles spacing. Then what does which is making runs with the ball if he wants to are picking up the ball and beating wanna be what i. It's it's unique in. Mls history like there's never been a center back in back three or back five Who has been given license to do. But ending the har- goes out and does on a on a weekly basis granted. He spent the first half almost the first half of this game at left wingback And it didn't work home and he ended up you know. They made a sovereign. He went back to to right center. Back like orlando city. Did a really nice job of neutralizing him But har look absolutely cooked last year with l. Afc and he's been completely revitalized. Should be a two for me. He should be the runaway comeback player of the year and both had not a non a bit like dc. United ends up being a different sort of matchup going backward saying in earlier in the segment about how they end up imposing their will upon even the best teams and making those teams sort of adjust to what d. c during a large part of that comes from getting the ball. It in in unleashing these forty yard dribbles from unexpected spots to unexpected spots which forces unexpected rotations and the upshot of that is your the opposing leftback as always coming in off the plank to try to deal with the har and that leaves julia time in space to to get on the ball within cross after cross and of course he is one of the assist leaders in the league and he's one of the best crossers of the ball we've ever had in this league. So it's this very symbiotic relationship between those two guys in. It's born out of this. Very distinct attacking style from the back has been wonderful. Watch in Wonderfully effective so the one thing i was just gonna add is when things are successful too copycat league. I know it was san jose who are weird to play against. Watch the way jake. Nowinski played left back for vancouver against san jose on saturday night and it was very similar to what nihar has done. Well matthew country hit us up from milwaukee what does it inform jillian. Gresley contribute to the national team. The us national team by the way. Because i'm pretty sure. That passport is incoming for julian grenfell. He's talked about before. does he have a place..

It may not simply be about a place on a map, it can be about family upbringing, career aspirations, even food. The NPR series where we come from brings us conversations from immigrant communities of color. Answering this very question. Here's NPR's Angela Sasse TREE. The recipes are mostly for Indian food, each with their own unique twist. But Pria still had some lingering questions. I wanted to talk to my mom directly about what those first moments for, like when she arrived in America. I mean, these are moments that I will never be able to understand being born here. It Turns out a lot of those first moments in the U. S for Ritu were about food. And sometimes you end up changing up what you cook. "It's necessary for some reason to point out. Also her makeup his flawless and i love her but also i hit her. Its complicated sounds like it to succeed. So badly. And i need them to they. I need to get them into therapy response. Can we sponsor i'll be. Can we not muster anybody. How about that. How are we doing fine. Who do you want talk. The next no no. That's my job. I asked you who you wanna talk about next brandon and julia because there was pretty much nothing from them they. I think they would be eating the nothing burger of the episodes while based on the thickness of my notes. I've got three lines. Essentially it was just the follow up from last week. well. I locate them and colonial. Who were the ones here. We're like yeah so it was the follow up to next week. Liana and this is we find out. They've gone the longest not talking to each other since they've met and it was about approximately eighteen hours. So since the night prior once julia leave the establishment that i believe to be a brewery mom she goes home she sleeps and comes home. Sleeps then goes to work then comes home to talk to her. What is your can. Get your take on the entire brewery exchange of twenty twenty one year. I mean so the and they they remind us. Thank you and ninety day. Fiance's of course the questions that the friend was asking. It's clearly none of these. People have seen big brother survivor. That like if you want real information. That's not how you approach somebody. Okay to just be like well. I hear that women moved to the united states and capture american men blah blah blah. Whatever i'm going to get this not going to give you what okay. Here's the person away with kindness and then extract that info when they feel comfortable with you get hurt to admit the master plan later. What was the friend's name. Melanie melanie yeah come on. Melanie watches season of survivor for crying out loud. Any who's so understandably. Julia would be on her toes. Because that's an uncomfortable situation to be in. However i do feel like julia completely overreacted. With whole jealousy. Thing of it all. Because i i could see why should feel a little sensitive about the whole situation but it was just a complete over-reaction and i can't believe it was eighteen hours. That's a long time. We would never. We would never have gone that long. Speaking barge into the bedroom talked to me. You've forced me to talk to you. Well that sounds like horrible. You with me have to talk to me. Talk about our feelings guard. I can't so you have to give context of that. Because i think it's necessary. I don't like. I'm definitely a subscriber to don't go to bed angry or upset so i would try to nip it in the bud as quickly as possible and just phrase it like that implies that it's not a big deal learn. Sometimes there are big deal. But i think it's important to do the communication liana however operates more under. Just give me the time and i'll be fine let mccain. I'll let me explain. Sometimes emotions are heightened. It can be counterproductive to have a conversation. When you're in that heads base. Therefore i would like a little bit of time to get into a more. Productive has in order to have a conversation so for example. If i was julia time to calm down my whole jealousy thing into to assess my emotions and then he was brent. Oh god i hate this analogy and.

So so during that makes that thing and Tinsley was really she just looked at her. And she just said, you just look like an evil mean person. And I guess Andy Cohen lost his mind that Dorinda would stoop. So that left that level. Of course. He had his little boy Ben with Sergei and he just thought it would and people. Online. Again after every episode. After every episode, I bet people people tweeted so many things about just how mean that was so Apparently that was her baster. Trash talk was the last straw for Andy Cohen and 100% believe it, You know you can't There's bottom lines. There's bottom lines where you get but that was like you knew she had so many examples of me meeting a weighing you mean this year, he was so mean and Anyway, So there you go. What can we say? "A crystallized ancient in ancient Greeks thought the soul and the body were to separate the nominee that could be separated. The body can't live without the soul but the sole can live out the body and so it's a separate entity and Plato argued that the soul in fact immortal the body obviously dies but the sole necessarily lives on and Without that idea of your soul living on you obviously could not have an idea that your soul would go to heaven or hell and so it's imperative or the idea of having an hell the work that the soul is is its own entity and not not not we would and we. Today we would think most most people listening to your podcast but thanks that the soul you know doesn't exist separately but it's it's it's some some punch into the brain at some level but The Greeks didn't say it that way and the ancient Hebrews didn't see it that way either. They have different explanation but they didn't think Seoul could exist apart from the body so they they were we would call duelists the plate nest. The the the fall play were most. Greek thinkers in antiquity. That we know about by the time Plato or duels before Plato. We have earlier accounts of great views of going back to homer which homers our earliest Western literature and loves agree and in his view There there was not a have an hal or rewards and punishments in his view when a person dies Their ceases to exist they exist in some kind of shadowy form and he actually used the term for shadows and so the your shadow in some sense really exists but it has no power it has no strength and has no substance and has no ideas thoughts and you you exist like that forever down hades shadow and so the innovation with people connect with Plato. Is that no. There's actually the essence of you lives on after death. That super interesting. So in one theory the soul is real. But it's completely dependent on the physical body versus the soul. Floats off the body when physical body dies and it continues to exist somewhere else. Yeah and their to their kind of two different theories about your soul existing As a with the soul and body thing are are the one. Because I mean if you're talking about the great yes when you introduce the Hebrew slightly different conception of it. I don't know if you want me to get our yeah. Yeah let's do that. In Hebrew thanking the soul is the thing that energizes your body and brings it to life and so in the genesis creation story when God Creates Adam. He creates out amount of the. You're actually takes. Dirk makes it into a being but then he breathes into it and the breadth that goes into it is the Is is the thing that makes it a lie and so in some ways ancient Hebrew thought that your soul was kind of like your breath when you even today when we think the breath as far being alive. Obviously but when you stop when you stop breathing you doc but your breath doesn't go anywhere nowhere. It's not just you're not animated anymore. And that's what he thought about. The soul is that he attended. Want you you have the soul. And it's what made you alive when your body dies. The soul doesn't go anywhere it just it's gone now. This fate like breath the most like the nineteenth century notion of the lawn. Vitale you know the difference between a living body in a dead body seconds apart. Well the life force went out of it. What does that mean well? It's it's almost before we understood. Dna in neurons and how they work and all that and the twentieth century that does seem to make sense. It sounds something like that. Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Probably right and then you know and and the kind of weird thing in the history of what I'm interested ear. They haven't been hell is that it's not the Old Testament view the ancient Jewish you. It's not that unit became the Christian view. It's the Greek view. Right became the basis for our understanding. I think this is the point of your book. That's GONNA shake a lot of modern Christians. They're thinking you know the ideas of the afterlife and immortality come from the Old Testament but as you point out. There's nothing in the Old Testament like that. There's nothing there's no idea that your soul goes to heaven or hell. I think that'll be surprising. But I think what's really going to get? People upset is when I showed that. In fact Jesus didn't believe in heaven. And how WHOA now? You're getting. Yeah I I WANNA spend spend a lot of time on that because as soon as the best chapter in your book. But but but in terms of ancient Hebrew this idea of Haiti's. This was not a place that you go to nonexistence. Yeah it's complicated because you're asking what the authors of the Old Testament bought is is like asking. What did ancient Jews thank and ask him what ancient Jews thought is kind of like asking? What modern jus think depends which Julia Time. What WANNA MODERN AMERICANS WOULD? What are you talking? And so there's a variety of thing even in the Old Testament but there's nowhere that indicates the soul would afterwards that go there reward coupon and there is a place talk about in the Old Testament that is of the Hebrew word. She'll she'll people maybe heard of that. And it's often thought to be a kind of kind of like an Israelite Haiti the place at home or described where where everybody kind of goes nobody has any power or strength. And there's nothing really to do and people kind of board for eternity and but everybody's together down there and I've always thought that I thought that's what it was referring to a talk years and years and years until I started doing the really serious for his book and I realized in fact she all is not a place that people go to in the Hebrew Bible when described it. Always likens it to the grave or to the pet and so I came to realize is just talking about the place. Your body gets deposited. Bonnie goes to she'll meaning he goes into the pit or it goes into the grave and so there's no there's no like after that In in a most of the Hebrew Bible and some of the Hebrew Bible explicitly denies that. There's any life after that. Yeah I was just looking at Alan. Siegel's book I. I read that for life after death. The history of the afterlife in the religions otherwise. Yeah I read that when I was researching earth it. That that it's just it's it's like asking. Where were you before you were born? You just weren't anywhere. Yeah you are and where you're debt anywhere you say place your body body venture would disappear too. Yeah yeah so this idea of the continuation of the soul. Dan As you show is fraught with all kinds of problems. How does a soul see without eyes or digest food or have emotions or care about anything without a brain? How did how did the ancient Hebrews Org Greeks or anybody early church fathers? You know kind of wrestle with that problem on the grants who thought that. There's a difference between body and soul had a different way of understanding that then a we do We have been heavily. A you know this better than I do. we've been heavily influenced by. Dick Kerr who in his meditations develop this idea of of that you get this the separate that you get this Immaterial soul and you get a material body and so that's what people think of today. Is that the soul is invisible thing that has not made up of any staff And so people who have that view do have trouble explaining how you can be a whipped in a hell or how you can be physically tortured and now if you don't have the physical body the Greeks actually didn't have that problem and this is not widely known actually in among scholars don't realize this but in ancient Greece the Numa the the spirit and the Suitca the soul the human existence. But they're not in material. There are different kind of material from our body. Our Body is the thick. Clunky stuff that it just kind of course grows the the soul the spirit are very refined? Stop they're more like. I guess what we might think of as the air or something. The air is stop there molecules in the air. But with the Mo- it's a much finer stuff and so You know you can send your hand through it but you you're GonNa go through your hand and say what you're hacking go through it. Because it's a finer stop so they understood that it was tough and since it was stuff when it lives on. It's still stuff and so they don't have trouble imagining how it can. You'll pay no. They don't of course you know they don't understand about nerve endings and things but No but since its material objects that is still human. It can experience physical Ben.

"They've got people who can who can play in midfield as well. And in loselle, so and depaul in this, I think what needs to happen, though, is only has to show some, some confidence in himself and in his players, not go and make the usual changes. But his way, though, not to be trifled with this is a lot stronger team than than than in past eras own dawn is a legitimate physical threat that they've got good defenders as well. So put it together, you could save in his way. So the hunkering down and, and trying to rattle Argentina maybe nicking. Something at the other end. So they have to stay vigilant. Yeah, she'd be 'Argentina as recently as March didn't they in that friendly in Madrid jet the second game on Friday, perhaps the most attractive on paper of Lakota finals Columbia. Of course, the Dalai always seemed to produce the goods in Brazil, they, and then, of course, the hold is Chile. What would you expect to see? Well on paper Columbia favorites here. I really like what, what kind of skate ashes doing rested? Some players in third group game. They were already qualified to ready one the group in fact, against paddock why I think that's going to make a difference. They've got some extremely gifted individuals from his Rodriguez has his swagger back, and they're taking on a cheetah side that they may be the holders, but this team is looking older Alexis Sanchez. You know, he's still affective in bursts. They also wrested some people in their final group game that should help, but. To play the they haven't quite released themselves from the previous phone, some Bali era and play that high energy football takes a lot out of you. I don't know that Satan quite do that said they're older side. Now they need to be a little more measured. I think you have enough individual quality to get by finally gab on Saturday, people fencer Uruguay as potential winners of this. They perhaps the easiest path of some of the heavyweights for the quarterfinals against Peru side, just took a pounding at the hands of Brazil. Yeah. Of course they still have those golden oldies Jefferson far found in Palo Alto. They still have got ak- who likes to who he likes to put out a football league side and, and hope for the best. And the problem is when you do that against Uruguay, there's so much talent on this team. Not just the front to obviously Suarez and Cavani. But, but there's experience up and down the side midfield, banked unquote. I think is having a real impact in this tournament as well. Go dean, of course at the back. So you put the different pieces together, and I think you would have to go with Uruguay. They're, they're simply golfing in class. And you know there's a reason that these guys are now second favorites. Great stuff gabbing. Julia time over the have a cap arena. Oh, two for me, please to join us for tomorrow show. I have as much taking Jovan Josemaria, really don't think Marino's released even though the olds make is different. I it doesn't make any kind of sesame. Can we gonna win a whole lot of money? I couldn't think of one reason why Marino. I think what he needs a job. He wants job needed job, and he wants to Joe but not one. All right. Thanks. Go watching see next time..

That's like let's face it at twenty five hours a week. What do I need to be sitting down? And watching you ship, beer and dance the Taranto or the hoorah around dining tape because like when Brian came over to the house and his his wife and sister in law, no girlfriend. Right on we you know, we bonded a little bit more. We got to know each other a little bit more, but they left they left to do line she cocaine, and then he came back actually, they came back in the closed down to dinner. Yeah. Well, that's. The inference shit. You know, you weren't gonna do it in front of everyone. You weren't going to dinner. They're not gonna they're not. They're not doing drugs. I know. I mean, I'm not gonna over little sober. But yeah, exactly and meantime, you your wife was making the beer runs. My life. My wife loved the free affects us complaining. Exactly, what are you? You why are you? So quite oh, that's right. You blew off the. He didn't trap. I didn't trust cardis that it wasn't a trap for ice. Also, if you're wondering where I was Friday it was an ice office because Curtis again the third complaint. They brought me in today. But the difference. Kirsty told me the agent told me to tell you lose his number though. He doesn't want to hear from Megan. I find this story about Christian phone screener a bit odd. And that some couple in Long Island right next to you in Huntington station adopted him and all of a sudden, I asked him for patriots simple thing. You vaccinated, right? You know, you like to you like to have that that friendship, and I gotta tell you. I got it. The most harrowing experience was not getting they're not going to drive way, which is like a like doing a swallow on his ski run off yelps, but trying to negotiate your way back down your driveway in which your husband has to go out there as if he's a flag man on the US.
