The show opens up with mike searching the wreck while his buddies on the surface appearing to be fishing as luck would have it. Mike find the pouch and starts to head to the surface. There's a great shot of the voight swim fins as he ascends but just as mike breaks the surface he's confronted with an armed boat of officials who are pointing their guns at him and asking him if he would be so good to come on board what to do. Quick thinking mike takes a fix on his position and drops the pouch. Who are these armed men. The guy in charge is colonel ramirez and he is the head of the coastal defense. He's cold and tough and goes over. Mike's gear with a fine toothcomb. Just then mike's friend. Paul alexander pulls up with their boat. He tells mikey sorry. That he drifted. The boat drifted off process that they are on vacation. And he's from dallas texas. Colonel ramirez tells them that they are not to dive on the downed airplane at an at the penalty by order of the dictator row. All as is that they will be immediately deported. They are welcome to fish. Just stay away from the airplane. So now paul and mike are on the bridget or boat and paul is upset about the diving when might tells him he found the pouch but he had to drop it. He says he took a position. And we'll be able to find it. But how will that be possible with the colonel watching pause. Got a plan. But mike wants to know i. Where did he get that phony. Southern accent well. Paul's plan involves dragging mike to a local cantina. The club kellyanne. Tae sign is flashing on and off as they enter once inside. They sit down in the bartender heads over the jukebox. A stereo phonic rockall roller and plays a record loudly before waiting on and paul. Something's the bartender nods and mike and pau get up and head for the back room. The ace of pulse leave is one of colonel ramirez. Deputy familiaux who calls the kernel. A pig who goes beyond the law familiar will fight with his fingertips to overthrow the hated dictator. The plane is to get. The plan is to get information from familiaux on whether the colonel is going to put a diver on the wrecked plane. Now the the scene shifts to mike and paul on the water and they're trying to get to the wreck but they're constantly being pursued by the coastal defense. Just then shots are fired from the defense boat. And they're colonel comes alongside and tells them that the penalty for diving on. The wreck is no longer deportation. It's death before they leave familiar hotels. Mike and paul that they are going to have another diver coming from the capital. Soon we now had back to the cantina. We're familiar comes in the bartender. Nods towards the back room in the room familiar hotels mike composite. The situation is desperate. what can they do. Mike knows he will be an underwater hitchhiker. But only familiar can drop a line over the side of the colonels boat you see. Mike can swim to the rack but he needs a ride back. Familiaux says it will be done. So now we have paul mike on their boat watching a coastal defence boat with its diver onboard and her headed out to the wreck plane. Mike tells paul if anything happens he needs to get out of there because he's too valuable. Paul reluctantly agrees as mike. Put the powder into his wetsuit top. Once the divers from the colonel Once the diver from the kernels boot jumps in. Mike is in the water swimming towards where he dropped the pouch. He sees the line. Familial has tossed over the side but now he needs to pop to the surface to get his bearings so he can find the diplomatic pouch just before the men on the boat turn towards mike. He slips beneath the surface a close call. Mike is now underwater searching and searching trying to find the pouch before the enemy divers season. Finally he spots the pouch intact and now he needs to get it out now. Here's where it gets a little strange. Mike is kneeling on the bottom looking at the patch. Trying to figure out and then like maybe how to open it or something. He's got a puzzled look on his face. His back is towards the plane wreck. As he's puzzling over the pouch the enemy divers spots him pulls out his knife and be lines towards mike as he tries to stab. Mike looks like the pouch gets in the way we are now witnessed to a classic underwater knife flight where mike wrestles do knife out of the bad guys hand takes out his own life and you guessed it cuts who's hose. The enemy divers forced to the surface and mike heads under the colonel's boat too high policies the diver surface in figures. There's a problem so he starts to head out. Mike is trying to figure out what to do with the diplomatic pouch when he decides to stick between his back and his doubles now. The colonel suspects that mike is with paul so he starts out in hot pursuit. Mike grabs the line and his underwater hitchhiking begins. The ride is challenging. You can see the strain on his double hose thins. Just as he's about to let go the boat slows down and pulls alongside. Paul familiar searches the boat and said no one is aboard. Paul says he just wants to go home as this is no place for a vacation. That colonel tells them to get out of his country. Once colonel leaves. Paul is despondent at the thought of losing mike just any. Here's mike call out. I think i heard him call pau. Alex i'm not sure. But as paul looks over the side mike tosses up the diplomatic pouch telling him. He forgot his laundry. Mike has yet again the day now. There wasn't any indication in credits as to where this episode was film. The plane wreck looked pretty authentic with the large propeller and debris. I wonder if this was. In the bahamas. So there you have it. Diplomatic pouch from season three of sea hunt.

Strange and Unexplained with Daisy Eagan
A Look Back at the Stonewall Riots
"The stonewall riots are named after the stonewall bar where the riots took place back in the day in new york city before there was a gay bar on every corner from the bridge to the upper west side there were only a handful of bars where lgbtq i plus people could gather for drinks believe it or not serving alcohol in bars to quote known homosexuals had just become legal in nineteen sixty seven two years before the stonewall riots. That's another insane fascinating story. If you wanna learn about the four men who literally fought for and won the right for gays to get hammered in public. I strongly suggest you google nyc sip in nineteen sixty six. That shit is bananas and those guys are heroes anyway. Most of the gay bars at the time were owned by the mafia. It's not like the mafia was trying to do something nice for gay people. It was more. Like i don't want them in my house but i'll take their money now. It was just a business opportunity. The mafia knew they could buy basically condemned. Buildings put almost no money into fixing them up and then open them as gay bars. They charge an entry fee to get watered down the drinks and pay off the cops to look the other way. Most of the gay bars were dumps and the stonewall was no exception. There was no fire exit. No running water behind the bar to wash glasses. And the toilets in the bathroom were constantly overflowing but it had a jukebox and it was one of the few places gay people go and dance with each other without being arrested or beat up so they put up with the inconveniences. What other choice did they have. The other to know about these mafia run gay bars is that even though they had these payoff deals in place with the local precincts police raided these bars all the time like once a month for the cops and the mob bosses. It was just part of doing business however for the people caught in the middle of all of this the raids were a nightmare. Anyone without id or really anyone. The cops felt like messing with was likely to get arrested. As was anyone not dressed in. And i quote at least three items of clothing as prescribed to their gender by nature. Meaning anyone drag was getting hauled into a paddy wagon and thrown in jail for the night this law by the way apparently dates back to the eighteen hundreds and was originally put in place to keep rural farmers from dressing up to scare off tax collectors.

Haunted Places
Bobby Mackey's Music World
"Wilder Kentucky is a town of about three thousand people along the state's northern border. It's small very small, less than four square miles much of it is wooded. One might not expect at town of this size to have a nightclub, but it does. In, one thousand nine, hundred, seventy, eight, former farm and railroad worker named. Bobby mackey open to Honky Tonk bar off Kentucky route nine, the building it shows had a long history before mackey took ownership of it. Local legends says that in the past it was both a speakeasy and to slaughterhouse on top of being a hotbed for. Satanism. Today, it's rumored to play host to kind of spirits from full body apparitions, demonic portal's. Bobby. Mackie's checkered past and spectral present have the title of the. Most haunted nightclub in America. Sharon didn't like working on the desolate strip of road that led to Bobby. Mackie's she wanted to be closer to Cincinnati where there were always people around things got too quiet here. The silence left too much space for her own thoughts after the last song played on the Jukebox in the patrons had finally left. She mopped the floors wipe down countertops. The windows would shake slightly but she'd been told not to pay attention to that the regular joke that it was some vengeful spirit. Sharon suspected the cause was far more mundane cheap glass and poor construction Sharon unplug the jukebox took one last look around the place. It had never shined like the Chrysler building, but it looked clean again. She went through a small door in the back which barely clear head and up a small staircase to the tiny apartment above the bar she called home. Living and working in the same place took its toll. She had nights where she dreamt that she was trapped like puzzle winter. Tower. The whole world could change around her and she'd be none the wiser locked up above. In the light of day, those dreams seemed more than a little dramatic at night. However, they almost felt prophetic. This building held whatever pieces of herself she'd sewn together. If she ever dared leave, they would Holland raffle long strands pulling her into the strange dark well in the basement, a relic of one of the bars many other lives. As she claimed the steps. She. Saw someone waiting at the top for her. It was a woman wearing a faded dress. The intruders swayed on the step her hands clasped around her throat. Sharon paused and yelled at this area was off limits. The woman held Sharon's is and mauled two words. L. ME. Suddenly she sprinted down the stairs Sharon brace tourself expecting to be bowled over. But just before they made contact but women disappeared into thin air. Wave of nausea overwhelmed. Sharon. It was hard to describe exactly what had happened. She had built something hut pass through her body. She suddenly realized she'd never heard any footsteps even as the woman was charging at her. She reminded herself that she was tired. It had been a long night of tending to customers. She was probably having a waking nightmare. Sharing continued up the steps. nauseous. started to dissipate the heat was long-on. Sharon entered the cramped quarters she called home. Then sat down her small vintage chair it had come with the place in certainly wasn't her style, but she may do. After a while the familiarity was comforting. She untied her shoes. Let her body relax for the first time in days. Sharon's head felt heavy she didn't want to move. She let her eyes fall shut telling herself that she was just taking a quick power nap. She'd go to bed soon. She woke to the feeling of serrated metal teeth pressing into her neck. Sharon's body jerked involuntarily the blade dug into her skin. She screamed knowing that no, one would hear her. There was only highway and the river beside the nightclub. She was alone. Horizon. Went. As, adjusted Dhaka's. There was a man leering over her. His hand shook with the weight of the saw in his hand. In. The haze of retired mind she wondered how he entered when everything was locked up tight for the night. She told him that there was a safe downstairs, but it was empty. He didn't want money. The manse bat on the floor told her he was there to help her. Take care of things.

Los Angeles's Lucas Museum acquires major archive of African American cinema
"The Lucas Museum. Am hasn't yet opened. Its doors but the narrative art space just announced a major acquisition an extensive archive of Black American cinema movie. Posters and film stills stills called separate cinema. The Lucas Museum is currently under construction at Exposition Park near downtown. La It's scheduled to open in late twenty twenty anyone. The museum's film curator is Ryan Linkov Ryan. Welcome to the frame. Thank you for having me. The collection is called separate cinema. Can you explain lane. What's behind the name and how it defines what is included in the archive? We're actually just having this conversation with the founder of the Archive John. Kish the name. It comes out of a specific historical moment specifically the first half of the twentieth century. The Twenties Thirties and forties in particular which saw the proliferation of a film industry really defined around African American filmmakers producers directors actors really kind of films made four and by an African American audience and in a way those existed outside of the mainstream methods of making movies and the distribution channels. So they really were in some weighs a separate track Film production distribution and consumption. For that reason I think it's a way of kind of identifying the ways in which a film home industry kind of developed for particular market that is in some ways obviously always entwined in broader mainstream history but also has its own kind of internal integrity that said the materials in the collection are both made by black filmmakers for black audiences and obviously films produced by the mainstream mainstream majority white film. Production Industry for broader. Is this as well. I WANNA play a clip from a film from nineteen. Forty three is called a cabinet in the sky. As it's hard. Lena Horne Ethel waters and Eddie Anderson. Interestingly it was directed by Vincente Minnelli who did G G in American in Paris. But listen to this good example of what you're talking about in terms MM separate cinema. It's a scene from a cabin in the sky. Nail Right Reverend. When you call on the Senate confessed he better sign me the rest of the evening or oh? You're not that bad Joseph so when you think about this period in film history why is this period so important and understanding how we got where we are. Today I would say it's really in some ways. Essential to understand understand the ways in which especially the Hollywood studio system both developed a culture of representing African Americans that was on the one hand quite pernicious in the way that it represented very entrenched Stereotypes of the African American experience and on the other there were attempts such as cabin in the sky to produce films homes that were at least making an attempt to speak and more sensitive and thoughtful ways to African American audience by featuring major iconic figures within the African American community and also figures who had a broader kind of popular appeal. And this kind of push pull this tension between trying to both represent the African American experience and also kind of in some ways exploiting a capitalizing on particular stereotypes. I think are really kind of something that will continue tend to live with and continues to play itself out in certain ways and I think understanding this broader history especially that kind of early days the first half of the twentieth century when the entire film industry in some ways was most thoroughly coming into shape. I think really helps us understand and explain where we are at the present moment. We're talking with Ryan Linkov Film Curator Raider for the Lucas Museum. To ask you about the collection itself. There are thousands of items in it. What was John Kish up to? And how did he. He assembled all of these things. Well so he's been collecting release since I believe the nineteen seventies and acquiring this collection piece by piece through a variety of different outlets through auctions. Private collections need did develop. What is by most measures the most impressive and comprehensive archive of material related to African American cinema Really with the intent of creating an archive that was available for both scholarly early research and also public programming and exhibitions to really highlight celebrate explore and examine the broader history of African American cinema across the twentieth century. And into the twenty I and he continues to be in conversations with us as new things come auction and that kind of thing so we really want to continue that legacy and also make it in the same ways as accessible for the research and for their conceptualization of the history of African American cinema. I WANNA play a clip from another movie. That is a seminal example of black black cinema. This is one thousand nine hundred eighty nine. Do the right thing in this scene. We're going to hear from a character named Radio Raheem who played by. Bill is always always fighting. The other hand you left hand is kicking much. I mean it looks like the right hand. Love is finished but hold on stop depressed. Rest of the writing is coming back. He's got the best roads now. Strike the devastating right. Oh Hey Kale. I love the scene and it made me wonder about how much film presentation and screenings will. We'll be part of what this collection is going to be about. Are People going to be able to see movies. Are you do screenings and conversations around those films so some programming will be he and major part of the museum's mission going forward. We will have to state of the art theater for film programming and It's great that you played a clip from do the right thing because we are actually organizing a film program. In February February eighth that will feature do the right thing As well as the Whiz we actually the collaboration aberration with Los Angeles County Museum of art and this is really our first attempt at putting together a film program. I think you're scheduled to open in late. Twenty twenty one. We know uh-huh maybe the Academy Museum hasn't quite met its deadlines. Are you pretty hopeful that we will have a museum by the end of next year. We are on schedule to to be substantially complete with construction by the end of twenty twenty. One we haven't announced an actual opening day for the public But everything's moving ahead Ryan Linkov is filmed curator. The Lucas Museum which just acquired the separate cinema archive a collection of black American Cinema Ryan. Thanks so much for coming on the

A Sneak Peak of Elton John's 'Rocketman'
"A sneak peek of rocket man, which opens visit open tomorrow or next weekend next next weekend. If you could double check that anyway, rocket man, we can say, jukebox movies are here. Bohemian rhapsody turned out to be the bellwether. Ding, ding, ding, money it made. And we get racket man, which is the Elton John. Jukebox Moos movie. But it is. It was so good. You guys. It's tomorrow. Okay. Fun was so good. And you know what I think the thing I took away. You know, John is a fifty year career. And you we he's kind of under appreciate how much of the soundtrack of everybody's life says, like for a lot of younger people, they didn't know who Elton John was really until Princess Diana died, and they hurt his candle in the wind song. But the Terron Eggerton is the, the actual plays Elton John. He's basically I agree with Rolling Stone magazine. Peter Travers said that Taron Egerton is the lady Gaga and the bread, the Cooper roll together all in one in this movie allow. Because you see Elton. We see him as a child prodigy. We see them young and we don't realize all the music that we hear the stories kind of told through song. Okay. But all the music that we hear his most famous hits were written, like in the span of about seven years, and he went from just being as Donnie told Chester day like this session piano, because he was like, really a great musician. He meets Bernie topping who's not a romantic relationship. They're dear friends played. Amazingly gorgeous leave. Well by Jamie bell, the little boy from Billy Elliot Bernie Taupin, and then but tyranny Agar ten is just he's flamboyant. He's hard he sweet in the we've talked about Tate. Donovan is in it. He plays the charismatic longtime manager manager and owner of the troubadour. And as always scouting England to bring axe to the tuber door to show off to the Hollywood kids, how interesting it costs to me, much like in bohemian, rhapsody, the custom designer recreates, because at the end of the movie stay for the credits because they show side by side of Taron Eggerton. Like, in the first outfit, he wore at the troubadour would Elton war Madison Square Garden, this performance they show side by side. But. It was it was how unappreciated Elton John is for like, what he's done like his. There wasn't a drug. He didn't do there wasn't a kind of decadent hedonism. He still loves to shop. That's like really his only basically doing all those drugs and surviving, but yeah, kind of kind of them. What he's also done in how immensely talented Elton John and Bernie, top and were together as songwriters Bernie top. And he's the lyricist. And then L Tim would come up with the metal melody in top would just give him Lear s and he would hear it in his ears. And I know you don't like the song crocodile rock, but that is the song that blasted him into the stratosphere in the US. And I guess the way they show it in the movie. When you see it, and how it starts, and how radically different. It was from anything. That was on the radio. You can't help but fall in love with that song again, for when you remember the first time you heard that opening chord. And at first people were just like, who is this weird looking English guy with the wacky outfit? He had suspenders on and like a star shirt. It was like nineteen seventy two and these wacky glasses. But, you know, just starts out kind of this melodic piano thing. And then all of a sudden it crashes into this amazing kind of rock song, about remember when you're young and just getting in trouble and causing, you know, having so much fun and the crowd just went nuts. And it was it was just really, really good. I think are going to enjoy it, Danny you should play because he's on the phone. He's talking to him probably about, like they saw John in nineteen seventy. Somebody about nineteen seventy actually the trooper. Okay. Was that the Kazini came out with the album that I think we sat transfixed a your family. Which later was the double album and every son had headed different font in a different color. And we'd sit there and my sister, Gina got it. And we'd just sit there and read and sing. Yeah. I think, you know, I think there's like a dozen songs that we hear in the movie, and the movies kind of told through those songs. But his it go from just the seventies or is it a collective of his life to now? Well, it, it ends at a certain point. And then it has, like it ends at a certain point in his life. And then it has, you know, it gives you an update on what's going on. But it gives you. Yeah, it probably gives you like maybe twenty bright Bryce Dallas. Howard is his mom. And she was just really awful. Remember, I told you this story? They weren't talking on her ninetieth birthday. Yes. I'm she didn't Elton John impersonators birthday party.
