"Rookie deals not investing a lot of money because when you lose someone like that, they saw what happened when you didn't have Mr third and fifth when he was there sucking up all the money I mean even even how the offense different in week seventeen when he went awol for the week that you don't WanNa depend too much on that one player and I think they've intentionally done that to where there's not one person that they couldn't just. End, up parting ways with with an still being. Okay. It's a like you said it's a strange group yet chase Klay Pool no one knows what to expect from him again. I talked about this on my morning show. That's GONNA run Friday morning in that is I'm GonNa miss the preseason and I might be in the minority and that's fine. I'm GONNA miss seeing the progress of some of these players whether they're new players the team like was new ski Brian Watt warmly missing rookies get significant playing time 'cause outside Chase Klay. Pool. is anyone see any rookie seeing significant playing time this year? Can is eight of Cancer I. Sure. But I I said significant just keep that. Well, it depends on what you deem significant if you're calling. Ten to fifteen snaps on defense in a rotational basis to give TJ watt and and or do pre e- things. Is GonNA eat ten to fifteen snaps again I think by the end of the season he. Won't come on the those guys. Don't they miss that many snaps a game someone's going to have to take it. Do. You think we're going to see more OLA than highsmith that or more skipper than ice myth. That's why I think you'll see some highsmith and depending on how he plays. He will have an opportunity to play that many snaps at a game if he can show up for. Brian. The, only the only way that you're going to see significant time out of Highsmith is really. If there's an injury and that's it. I mean he is probably going to be eased in your gonNA. Hopefully, you don't see a lot of them hopefully he's Justin Lane and we talked about just lane all the time how we didn't see a lot of Justin Lehman. We were really glad that we didn't have to see a lot of Justin Lane last year we know what he could be in the future I. Hope we don't see a lot of just lane this year as well maybe maybe if he's He's in garbage time or maybe if they put him in. As a slot corner at times that might happen I mean, I doubt it. But what I'm thinking is that's what that's when you're going to see highsmith and I'm fine with that where I wanNA see highsmith is probably in year number two, I wanNA see a lot of them and we've seen that guy make that jump from year one to year two because of a guy left and they were able to keep up the pace. So I think highsmith can be good but close the only guy that that really should get a lot of numbers this year but that does not mean that you have had a poor draft anybody the grades a draft based on the the rookie season of that draft. That's foolish because you really can't do that. You need to be grading drafts. You can't even start great drafts into after year three or four. Let's bring this full circle where we got started off this engine on rookies clip the one that's going to be at play tennis in I think everyone's going to agree with you. So the next question logically is how many receivers do you think they're gonNA keep on the Roster Tony Twenty Eight I know you have the number in your head of the? Guy. Just making sure I. Heard you. Correctly you said the number of rookies that the keep on the no wide receivers. Okay. Sorry. I couldn't I. I must do that yet to Seattle has losses. No. That was. Number of receivers I think you'll see six I. think again we six on the roster doesn't mean there'll be six active. All right. Brian do you agree with? Yes there's going to be six. It is going to be those big four that we keep on talking about. Let's name them, Deontay Juju James, Clay Pole those are locks. Okay. I think. I agree with you, I think Switzer's on the team and then sixes young gain debt. Or black now. Now I. See on the on the practice squad. What about Dr Bell I said. Yeah okay all. Right. All right. So anyways, I mean when you talk about cevers nearly okay. This group. Just. It's just so weird it's a weird group. Because you look at Dior Johnson and Jews you. I would say the only proven commodities you have and that's saying a lot about deonte Johnson concern he's only going into second year. Europe label. I mean Dougie said Dave I thought you're the. Guy. One Guy, you'll be okay you miss two of them neither trouble it kind of reminds me of children seventeen when they had to rely on combat catch Cobi Hamilton. Ese Chamber of game against the New England Patriots. It was just awful You hope you don't get a daytime the receiving core is deep. I just kind of unproven for me. That's just where we think where did I know so all right anything add. Real quick before we go because this was a big discussion last night in the live chat, and of course, Brad brings it up again tonight he's like why Switzerland the team there's a very simple thing you're always bends buddy. No, it's not because he's been buddy. It's because when ben frozen the bobby catches it. Always. Well, if it's close to him, he catches he doesn't have drops. Was the issue with with Rothlisberger in Washington, for a while was was you mentioned that play and things like that is the trust issue then trust? Switzer. When he throws the ball in reasonable spot, he's going to catch it. He's not GONNA do anything with Africa's it, but he's going to catch. If it's third into. I WanNa see Ben Throw. The ball to Ryan Switzer just yards long. Is. Passed that I. I don't want to see him, throw it for one yard and hope he gets the rest because Mr Electronic football like the like the column is might not get there. He might spin around he might run for three miles but not past the marker. But yeah, I can bring something different today I think he brings something to this team and I think he's a guy that could come up big. Hey, remember he came up big for them that he helped them win. The. Jacksonville Jaguars game just by almost getting decapitated. In. The. That's true. He did I mean they could have called three different penalties on that same thing they could've called it. A. Holy legal contact facemask. He could have been a bunch of different things. If he doesn't win special teams job I, don't think his spot on the team is a lock. For instance, it is the running backs. Now, we're getting into whole prediction peaked here. With Gareth White if he makes the team special teams guy than his Ryan Switzer, expendable you WanNa keep a guy like Darbeau in Kane, over Switzer in Kane these are things that will probably talk about more as we get closer to. Actual. Practice on the is it the seventeen days of his talking about practice practice? That's all there. Yeah. The seventeenth is the really you know the big deal practices supposed to start. That's there in in full pads, not even just shells I think by that time I. Think it's full pads very yet. All right. I it's been awhile since I've had to put this on, but I'll put the old dunce cap on his. Group and we're GonNa do our Trivia section I don't have a trivia question I do unless i. Unless I can think of the top of my head, which as of right now, probably, not David the usual wizard. Well I'm going to ask a question I'm going to give you a very Michael Beck ask follow up question and that is this.

Ryan Switzer Highsmith Brian Watt Ben Throw Justin Lane Chase Klay Cancer Dior Johnson Michael Beck Seattle New England Patriots Justin Lehman Deontay Juju James Tony Twenty Gareth White Dave I tennis Europe Jacksonville Jaguars Switzerland

"James, Washington going on the on the reserve covid nineteen list. Of this weekend when the steelers also they put two guys on the list it was it was Washington and Samuels, and then they released eight players the roster move today right before the show was the steelers I player Aaron Springs that was that was put on the covid. Lists. He was removed from the list, but also subsequently released because the steelers had to keep it at eighty. Just because Washington's on this list now does not mean Washington will stay on this list long as you could see, springs were seven days. Doesn't mean and the difference in the length is going to be did they have a positive test and they have positive tests with symptoms you know were they exposed to some with the positive test you could have you can have positive tested no symptoms and still be back in a soon as five days based on the protocol. But that all. That depends on this on symptoms and everything else but but but that's I would not say Washington's going to be out for an extended period of time because as we know, we have more than a month until the steelers first game so So we're still trying to get the answer a definite answer with that, how many players with indefinite number Of accrued seasons, let's get to this question Tony from West how concerned you're right now about Game Edwards contract status. I I mean I'm. I don't know I with everything going on with with the with the. Salary cap a reduced salary cap from one ninety, eight this year to one seventy, five next year it's there's a lot of tough decisions that have to be made. When you got Tj what and you've got Nick Patrick and you got you know the young guys Juju James Connor you know a guy like him hayward whose He'll be heading into his tenth year this year you know how much are they going to be willing to pay him and and how much is he going to be willing to take as far as the hometown discount so I'm very concerned about a lot of things, but specifically, the older players then deciding to move on from those guys. Yet here's the deal. In my opinion and you mentioned the hometown discount and I'm going to tweak that a little bit and here's why. When it comes to Cam Hey, where it comes to the future. That one, seventy five. Number for the CAP, that's that's the four. That is the minimum. Now, if there is a full NFL season and if they can even have maybe some return to fans to the stance or if they have plenty of advertising on the tarps depending on all those things and they get more revenue and they have revenue, then it could be higher than that. Right. But let's say the NFL season doesn't play out in its entirety where the where if you go strictly revenue, it would drop it in half or more it can't go that low it's only going to that low, and then that'll be spread out until it's recouped. So, that's the status with that number, which is a great number to know because you can just bank on that being the minimum, and that's the problem with Cam Hayward status contracts as right now was right if I was a Marquan and or Kevin Cobra to everyone's actually talking to cabinet representation I would say cam, we WanNa pay you what you deserve to be paid. And the only way we're going to be able to do that. Is. To wait and see how the season plays out. Are we dealing with this low number? Next year? Is it going to linger into future years because if they resigned him now that drops it salary cap hit now Because of the signing bonus that that would be spread out and then he would have a higher cap number next year and beyond if they say him can leave want to work out something with you before the end of the league year as soon as the season's over, we'll have a much better idea with the long term effects of any revenue lost this year if it's going to affect twenty, twenty one if it's going to affect beyond but we can give you that signing bonus even in for twenty twenty one if our if we're cut back, you know by thus by us being able to have a lower cat number. By your contract starting next year. And if that's the year that we're having to take this hit now, it's GonNa Bounce back later. Then we can then that's going to allow us to give you a contract more for what you're worth. So rather than have a hometown discount, can we get a hometown? Yeah. of saying, Hey, we ask when the when the when the clock hits zero of the last steelers game. Of this season, you are priority. PROBLEM IS CAM. Hayward is thirty one mike. He. got. Around there. Literally younger than Antonio Candidate Two thousand ten. He's thirty two now. I mean say right around the time. That's arrested Hayward then has to take because of injury and everything else. You know what if he has you know especially an injury at his age so I would understand if came wouldn't want to do that if he'd like to be locked in now but unfortunately, she was might have to say this is all we can do. Now. You know even if it's you know maybe came feels better. They do a very short extension. To then. Do another one the next you know very soon. So that's what I look to see. From that's my concern with came forward with him being my favorite player I'm concerned because I don't WanNa go anywhere We don't have a lot of time. So let's try to get another question because I was at such a great question. That we hadn't spent time on it. So they say Dave I'm going to read it and he let Tony Answer who mark. UNDRAFTED free, agent to make team. That I really. Like. Him A. Lot. Every Surprisingly yeah. He didn't get he. He made he made initial cut. Yesterday. So I like him a lot and I can see them. There's a guy that can definitely doesn't need to preseason to impress. He can just impress in training camp and they be like his lake. We know we haven't Jordan Berry we don't like it all that much. Let's just move on from him and go with the younger guy. Yeah I could see that but I don't think if I've read right he didn't even punt last year in college. Yeah but he has he has great numbers in college, which is just weird. Yeah. That's just that's that's very strange. So. Oh Dallas.

"Yeah. So I in the in the draft version of the tournament last year I had a ton of CAM CNC today more sales tax that was approach going and obviously Cam got hurt it didn't. It didn't work out the other guys ended up. Performing Fine. But I think that one point in one spot really opens that up and I think it's a really smart approach to take you also at that four five turn often you'll have shot at Dj more. So you don't have to force it. You don't have to force at the tooth return. You can wait and see if you get them at the four five move on I. think that's a really interesting one. I also think you know I I, I. Think Atlanta's a cost affordable stack general. Because I think there's decent prices on Ridley in John Hayden hearses tossed to get at the price tags if he's going outside, avoid that piece but Pittsburgh is also I. Think you instead pretty affordably right now with reasonable prices on Juju James Honor Eric E., Ron Johnson Johnson, and in Big Ben. So those are some stacks I'm pretty interested in obviously like the strategy on trying to implement with going running back early is going to naturally or it's approaches to some stacks. I'M NOT GONNA have a lot of Kansas. City stacks building portfolio and trying to utilize that strategy his own running backs earlier not getting tyreek you're not getting happening. So it depends on the strategy utilizing for zero running back take strategies I. Think the Kansas City bills are interesting I just don't think this is I don't think this tournament is as rate of place to use euro running back than other formats. Yeah and Loonie actually has an article about how viable you're running back is in best ball and he had a lot of data in there that was interesting I actually like. The idea of running backs early in this format because I think there's a lot of stacks can build late I think Stafford Marvin Hopkinson Andrea. Swift is interesting. What about Deshaun? Watson, fuller cooks do Johnson Baker Odell Landry maybe you can pull off maybe Kareem Hunt, and then one with news today of Deebo Samu I didn't I was always kept going depot singles. Now the four nights are admitting it. You can get Jimmy G. I. Jalen. Hurd reasonably if you're able to start with Kiddo I, mean you know I think really unscheduled evidence point out a bunch. So I think there's plenty of late round quarterback options that have stacks. That have stacked partners who are underpriced. Also, that's kind of what I'm typically looking for. So yeah, just give you some ideas once you win to educate, I'll take a a small tip. Yeah I think those are great ideas and I think one of the other stocks that I like this year a lot. I know we're down on John Hopkins but if you can get cuyler at a reasonable price that Krishan hurt is really affordable in India. belfry. If any Isabella is able to break US plays like he did last week it on the field a little bit more other certainly past there obviously like chase Edmunds as zero running back target would be an option there too if you're building of. But the teams are going to be a little bit harder to stack just because of the way the shapes up because the price tags for me are going to be like Baltimore in Kansas City like it's just harder when you're spending an early round pick on the Mar Patrick Mahomes to build those excess stacks. If you feel comfortable 'cause usually those guys pull their past enters ADP. Along with, you're not going to get the cheap option. So Lotta Times in these I think these chief stocks are really really strong to go. Okay, we've said it all on underdog in on Best Ball you can find our underdog rankings you can find we have like six, seven, eight articles up about best ball and underdog on the site right now be sure go ahead and check that out. We'll be back well, dressing won't be back jurors diving into the NBA streets he he will be back from time to time on NFL but again, really encourage you guys to rewarding for his hibernation by checking out his work on the NBA so. Or producer Luke four drew I am Adam. Good luck everybody. Do..

"Running backs who averaged over point five rushing yards expectations, so he was like in this whole separate tear by himself and the thing. That I think is interesting about that is he also led that stat in twenty eighteen as well so it's not necessarily a fluke to me that he was just so much like head and shoulders like magic tackling this guy. But just like the most basic level, just imagine tackling their carry. It's not what you want can. Can either of you make a case or just even just spell out your expectations for the Titans in the AFC south. Oh Man I personally. I think they're the favorite in that division, but it is a very. You don't think the colts are. No. I feel like I. Put the Tines a little bit above the colts, but I think they're both good, and then I think the Jaguars quietly could make some noise Texans obviously up there every year. You know when you have to Shawn. Watson Texans are always going to be involved I. I I think it's a very competitive division, and that's what I what I wanted to get into because I think the Texans as currently constructed look pretty good, even with the strange attraction of Shandra. Hopkins I think that that's. That's the type of division where I think that in week fourteen. We're going to be looking at three potential playoff teams and I don't. I don't know how that shakes out, but it's a very competitive division crazy, haven't AFC south? Must you make? It's the colts now all right next Craig? Rollback All right so I WANNA. Talk about one thing and fantasy football that a lot of people who just kind of log on on August, fifteenth and drafter team kind of struggle with his recency bias, which is just kind of go back and look at the year before, and that's Kinda. Dictate what you're GONNA do for your current season, so I wanted to talk to stick in the AFC north and talk about the steelers who were clearly one of the worst thing in football last year. Real football fantasy football, but I'm expecting a big bounce back in both ways i. mean they were the worst scoring team? Last year scored twenty five touchdowns. The Ravens at fifty eight at twenty five. Them. Obviously I mean it comes as no surprise that it was because of Mason Rudolph and duck hodges at quarterback all year, but Pittsburgh's entire philosophy changed as a team. Last year slowed the game way down. They tried to play like. Out Football when low scoring games it kind of reminds me of like what when I played Cyo basketball growing up, my dad would coach, and it'd be like if he knew that our team was less talented than the other team. You just like absolutely run the shot clock out every single time and keep it low scoring drive to the paint. Try and get fouled free throws or easy shots like no threes. If you can't shoot, really just hunker down for the winter and hope for the wondering wonder you love p Caraman I. Love It. This is the origin story of why Craig Rollback earlier today defended the running game. Yeah, just don't say. Everyone had a bad year last year. Juju James Connor and you just can't use last year's results for this year's prediction, Pittsburgh the most in the League in twenty eighteen, and they were fourth in place per game and James Connor Juju were incredible. Juju as a top eight receiver along with Antonio Brown and he's not nearly ranked wide receiver eight right now so I just think it's kind of. A microcosm of what the steelers could be this year I mean the last three years we've been. They won nine Games, eleven games and thirteen games. I saw a video of Big Ben yesterday. He's looking pretty spelt. He's looking Reddish Shirley. Shave it on your video from two thousand nine. I can't. NFL films again. My favorite video ever been when they tossed the those like pads Adam as he's thrown, he's hitting him with his hands. Have you seen that video? No! No I haven't I'm looking for this video right now. I'm just seeing a bunch of I. Don't see anything. Was this a deep fake you saw it might ask. You might have a deep fake. Yeah, it was actually Joe Flacco with big Big Ben's head I don't. Yeah I. Don't think there's any video of a Hillsdale all right now all right? Isn't he, isn't he? GonNa start the season. Health is be to play the backup October Isn't the FLACCO side I think so yeah. Crushing it jets crushing it all right Sir Danny Kelly third and final. Thing you need to talk about to teach people. Twenty twenty season through fan. I wanted to talk about the panthers for a little bit and specifically just it's I think it's in the same vein. Craig is what you're talking about what the steelers is! They were so their offensive production was so just held back by Kyle Allen last year. that I'm very intrigued to see what happens with Teddy Bridgewater under center and having that new staff in place how they can kind of. Put that all together, and if they're able to explode offensively in the way that I think they might be able to. Because I think they have a lot of really good talent on that offense, obviously Christian. McCaffrey is going to go off. Dj More is one of the top two ascending receivers in the NFL, but also I. Keep coming back this stab because I. Think it's very fascinating Curtis Samuel. Finished ninth among all receivers in total area arts, last season, sixteen, hundred and eight and fifty second in receiving yards there were seven the top seventeen receivers in yards last year all had over a thousand yards and Samuel finish like six hundred something so. I, just think you know. Obviously you have to go through all the targets kind exactly what was going on there? If all of those passengers just prayers down the Downfield, or whatever, but I think Samuel is a lot better than what his stat showed last year so he's the kind of to me that he in particular is interesting, but I think that whole offense has a lot of potential be a lot better than they were last year in and be more fancy relevant. I I'm confused by everything that the panthers done this year and I'm not totally, and I'm not saying it's all bad I. Think the metro higher is very good i. think there's a reason. They gave him a long term contract I thought at the beginning, obviously before the bridgewater signing, and all that that there was a chance that they were going to take a step back and make it more of a long term thing. Signed Teddy Bridgewater It seems like they've got a different plan to. Maybe I thought they were going to have. Is there any case to be made for the panthers in general or is just more of a fantasy? They might be better than we think.

"McDonald was with the steelers. You gotta give a guy a little bit of a pass. He only played ten games for the steelers he came in. Right at the end of the. He came in. Via Trade with the San Francisco Forty niners two days before the last preseason game, and we've seen this over the years especially with Ben Rothlisberger you bring a guy in the does not have a a full training camp with him. You don't have that report towards the end of that two thousand seventeen season especially in that playoff game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He was he was a force. He had over ten catches in that game against Jacksonville. You could tell that the report was there. So you know as far as I'm concerned, you gotta give them pass on that. Let's look at two thousand eighteen in two, thousand, nine, thousand, nine hundred. How many games do you think he had combined? How many games do you think he missed? Our believe he missed. Six a year ago and then I think one the year before so I think he's floating around twenty five games there. You're correct on two thousand eighteen. Fifteen. He appeared in fourteen gains in two thousand and nineteen didn't feel. Really a lot of people because there were a lot of games there were a lot of weeks leading up to games where he you didn't know whether he was playing, and he was on the injured list, but he ended up playing in those days, and he was active for those games and you got to thank when when men went out. In Week two against the seahawks Mason Rudolph comes in. He was. He had two touchdowns in that game. He looked really good, but then things fell off. And I don't know of was due to him. I don't think it was due to him. I think it was due to the unrest that quarterback position and no report. Usually you're tight. End Does help you out, but in the situation he didn't. The net was brought in and the neck was. Had No report either. It seems like he is a disgruntled guy. He was disgruntled in Seattle. He was disgruntled on this time with the Pittsburgh. There was really with the situation. Was He never got on track and he was never really targeted, so that could be. This could be the result of not having enough as according to your last year when your offense coordinator is has his elbow in a slink. Because that's it randy feet. Ner did not know how to get involved last year, and I set it all last year and I'm GonNa. Continue to stay this year. You have your offensive coordinator back because you didn't have a randy land. Because he was overmatched, he was brought in because Ben. Roth wanted him to. You wanted him to come in and get the position because Ben. I don't WanNa say he knew he could. Boss around Ben was comfortable with them and knew that he could play his game and not have the clash like he did with a hard-headed Todd Haley so that's really why he was brought in. That position was never posted. It was just one thing all right. We're moving this guy in. They didn't even consider anybody else. You move your quarterback coach in in. That was to take care of your quarterback when your quarterback goes down, you are at a huge disadvantage, and that's what happened with the Randy feet in her situation, so a lot of stats offensive stats that fell off last year. I'm they. They are due to a lot of things. They are due to the fact that the quarterback. And to untested quarterbacks in there. You have the fact that there are injuries involved also with Juju James Connor with a even McDonald a lot of different things, and you have the fact that you have I. don't want to call them in an apt play caller, but a guy that was overmatched last year. And that's the bottom line and I can't say enough, but you still have a team that was in position. With all those factors. To make it into the playoffs. The last three weeks of the season, the last two weeks of the season, and even with some help last week of the season, and they could not get in because they lost all three of those games three games that they really would have won if they had. Another quarterback in their three games that they might have even won. They would at least one one or two with Mason Rudolph in there as well. I can honestly say that in my mind. That's what I think still when you're looking at that, you can't count two thousand nineteen. Too, much and you gotta take it with a grain of salt statistically. This is a new year with Ben Rothlisberger. His healthiest if he is. Then you're going to have a whole lot more as far as stats in the way I'm looking at this with Vance in Hebron together. They should definitely be above a thousand yards. They should be pretty close to one hundred catches and to go against your point. If they could come pretty close to those numbers with Jesse James in there, who does not hold a candle Eric Hebron. As far as a receiver. And Vance McDonald who I thought was be better receiver. Then you're going to you. Find a way to mix them in and Ben Rothlisberger knows how to mix those guys in so much more than you're going to have a healthy tight end situation as far as stats go combining them into one. Right now like in that sense completely agree if they're if they're able to they're able to. Juice up that pro- productivity healthy like the they should be able to do some stuff, but again like I am super concerned about that health factor if they. This was one of the huge things is pretty much everyone on that offense. Year ago, Mr Game missed half like the they were in and out so. Maybe Matt Canada's influence. Maybe you see a little bit of motion. These guys bump around a little bit. Maybe Erkki Brown lineup. Like to your point, Big Ben is a huge influence on this offense, not not only bringing guys in, but the distribution of this ball. If it's up to hint, he'll throw six hundred and fifty times in twenty twenty, which probably wouldn't be a good thing for his depending on what it was. I guess we'll never know what the surgery really is. And maybe maybe after he retires, you might spill the beans, but Do you really want that much wear and tear on that elbow over the course of one season, and then possibly the playoffs? Could he have just a wet noodle of an arm? I don't know if that's what you want so I think we desperately want to get those running backs more involved than the tight ends like I think we're going to have to get the get. The those guys more involved in the blocking in use of decoys should be also one of those super important factors just because. If Ben Storing that much I think it'd be. It wouldn't be a good thing for this team. It like they should be winning a lot of these games like twenty, one, ten, twenty, one seventeen like. If if they were putting up twenty one points a year ago. They probably wouldn't at least eleven games. If if that's what it came down to so with Ben Coming in I think that's going to be enough but Will these tines be the focal point of the offense I. Don't think so I think the is receiving core is just too good and I think they're going to have to hand off the ball. If so even more than they did last year, and hopefully pick up some more first downs, because that was one of the biggest issues especially in that first possession of the game so. I I'm hopeful that this tight end core can be better, but I'm not holding my breath on it. Okay! Let's wrap tight end talk with this last election cycle. Let's go head input. You. Desired totals for each guy. Let's start with Eric Hebron and then go to Vance McDonald and I'd like to have your opinion. How many? Let's just say let's catches. Let's talk more yards, okay? And let's talk more about touchdowns as well one think before you get into that one thing that we did not discuss a lot. In moving the Danes in first downs in the tight end position. Asleep and heath. Miller was paramount in getting first downs. That were so much more. In my mind than touchdowns at that point..

You. "Win anybody. Anybody I've I was going to say I'm GONNA I was Gonna say something about deonte Johnson's punt return in Arizona But I'M GONNA take Darren's in and I think this is this tremendous program right there. They're good job. Guys good job exit. He puts two bucks in the tip. Jar says loved the show guys go. Thanks Eddie we appreciate you as is always guys. Worst moment. I'll go first. I'll Yoga I and that was the fiasco in Cleveland. By far. That was the worst moment in my opinion with myles Garrett and all the stuff that took place after that and the accusations and it was ugly ugly ugly ugly period so that was my worst. What about you Brian? I gotta go with Juju Smith. Schuster fumbling the ball against Baltimore in. That's that was that was the The turnover the GonNa save killed the season but it jumpstarted the raven season. If you beat you know I could honestly say you beat the Ravens there. The Ravens Evens. Don't go on that run. I actually don't think you're probably right. What Dave well? I can't disagree with either one of your guys. Is those Sir obvious. So I'M GONNA. I'm I'm actually going to give you two which I think are a little bit a close one because I was there and one just because of what it was the the James Connor fumble right after you got the turnover against San Francisco where you were just trying to to to hold on to win that game. And then he fumbles it right back to them for them For them to go on to win. That was pretty bad and then the other one. We're we're Brian. And I were sitting there together right after renegade and they hit the super prolong pass to just go right down the field just that pass alone and then just that entire drive that they just went down and showed it. I mean took the lead right there but that was just yeah Jeff. Would you agree that Dave SCO photos. Probably one of the nicest of all menu of ever met. 'cause I would probably ably say he's probably one of the nicest e area and toured sitting next to him. I actually thought you were going to say the wildcats gene him angrier. I I've locked out of my head. That's what I should have said I blocked at I was. I couldn't get over it. I I did not get over that the whole time brides dropping me off at my front door at five. Am and I still was not over. That decision was oh it was a it. It was brutal. I mean that man was so mad right after a turnover as right after Stephen Nelson's turnover What he returned the interception Gary Back? That was one play. That was a penalty. They gotta move from the twenty to the ten and then that was the next okay. We're GONNA take these next to a raft him into one package to save. Sometimes we can get to the after party Best player in worst player for of the season It could be anyone offense defense. Hasn't been able serve with you I'll take the obvious. Best Player. Should the defensive player of the year. T. J. Watt. He just did so much for everything. I really liked what he did the season. Just great all around defensive player and worst I player I will. I will take the the other obvious one. That was someone's high high point of the season of when we have when we cut Dante moncrieff on Krief I mean when was it. Rudolph's I pass. They don't know if it's passed but the went right through his hands for a first down for an interception exception and stuff like that and there was so much hype with him. Coming in that He was he was gonNA be your number two behind Juju and he was a different kind of number two. If you know what I mean. Yeah Brian so actually going to take the cop out but I really think Chris Boswell had a magical year. Oh yes and so. I'm actually I mean I could very. There's other guys that you could definitely go with. But I WANNA say best player weakened and week out you knew he. It was a monthly this year. You never worried especially after a couple of games never worried when the lineup for fifty seven in he didn't but if he did your ed balls got this he was back on track Surprised some some players with my worst player. I'm GonNa let's say Markeith pounds. I knew that what you're GonNa say and I love Markey's pounds I one of my current favourite players. But he just had a rough year and he's the anchor of an offensive line. That had a rough year. I could is it safe to say with that Brian that if it wasn't for how good that he's been in his career is what set him up to be disappointed with how he played this year. It's safe to say that it's that's also the reason he was A pro bowl this year because of I mean lifetime achievement award. Yes Okay I. I was going to go with Mega Fitzpatrick. Obviously for best player He just transform the entire defense. Worst player you guys kind of took some a mind that was gonNA use Untended to put James Connor. Juju Smith Schuster as worse players. Because I I look at worst players I think of. What are the expectations for? Yeah you could say Ryan Switzer but did people really have high expectations for Ryan Switzer. I didn't but everyone did for Juju James Connor and they didn't live up to that so there there you go. We live two thousand nineteen as best as we could. I hope you all enjoyed it. I hope you enjoyed the show. If you're someone that has never checked out the after party stick with us about five minutes. We'll be right back here. Live on youtube a separate show. You'll get a separate notification and we'll be talking about some steelers stuff and some not steelers rush stuff. Otherwise Dave is on these dealers burning question this week right Dave yes. I was planning on doing that as long as we're still doing. The steelers burning question. It is my turn have tried and landfill beyond tomorrow for. Yeah I said it's a check him out. We will hopefully see you in a few minutes in the after party..

I have chris carson and like every fantasy league so great van excited for him from the articles. I've read it's like that's the guy that he wants to say. We'll we chelsea. I just think that being in the same division as the rams makes makes the super bowl tricky. I'm going to get get rid of the steelers. Here's why i think that yes. Antonio brown was part of the problem but as i've always said i'm willing to admit i'm wrong on if i end up being wrong i don't think he was the entire problem ben rothlisberger kind of an issue and i think i remember i referenced this very small detail like five times now to me. It really was indicative of something going on there. Where like someone was talking about the music they listen to in the locker room and they said that when ben comes in he turns off rap music because he finds it offensive and it's just like you don't you want your leader of your team to be a guy who alienates people for the music. They listen to thinks that he i think the person who gets in your car and turns off your music. You're like cool to my car and i was was driving and that's what i was listening to. You don't think like yeah. You're absolutely right. I'll listen to you and i just feel like there's a he's starting to get he's starting to become aware of his own mortality in a way that is gonna lead to him acting out and doing dumb stuff and i can't see that him being the type of leader. Were that works out well with his team. I think even with antonio last year people forget the steelers didn't make the playoffs yeah no which is famously yes teams can succeed when they lose the star juju james connor great and fun to watch watch but i agree steve's always talking about a washington james washington dante moncrieff guys know dante moncrieff moncrieff don. You know what because we've all been there. Yeah i mean she'll be but you know everyone has that friend. That won't stop talking about your fleas is is right here. We look. Don't you always try to pay me to admit just just you saw me and relationship advice work for you to be yeah thing. Okay back to this drawing to me a._b. In tonio brown's lashing back at been is is all about a be the sort of subtle shots that been has recently taken at a. b. or more about the steelers because i believe been senses is in the wake of a b. levian that a cloud has been lifted in that he now has a chance to redeem himself as a leader of the football team that he's looking at it as an opportunity to try to fill a leadership void that maybe mike tomlin hasn't filled the way he should have the last couple of years. Is we both agree. That locker room is letting little out of hand right. I wanna say he lost control of it but he let it get a little out of hand. He idea and i think he's still a very good head. Football who is league so i think been is looking around at. We got a fresh face here. We got a new start. "T. J. watt on the practice squad eligibility which technically he is because he's play. He's only played two seasons seasons juju james connor technically eligible for the practice squad although it's ridiculous even talk about them because there's no way they're going to know where they would clear waivers. I but johnny holton i did put in the article about the practice squad came out today. Three special cases of guys that were kind of unusual johnny holden was one one because he was two years on the active roster and oakland and then one year on the practice squad so therefore he did he hasn't hit three accrued seasons stories eligible uh-huh by being on the active roster and he also has not used up three practice squad seasons so he technically nicholas still available my killed in a very same boat he's only been two years fully on practice fully on the on the roster and technically his one year on the practice practice squad between the patriots and the steelers wasn't enough weeks the practice squad to even count as year village ability. If my kill suddenly starts to fall off the mappin he technically would have three or practice squad eligibility. Jordan dangerfield's the crazy one because he wasn't a practice squad then he was on the steelers practice squad the next year and before he hit the maximum number that you can be on a practice squad for the year was counting. He actually got pulled up to the to the roster but then he wasn't on the on the fifty three an active enough for that to count as a year so that year between the two of them they would accounted the because they weren't two different things they did not so he didn't lose a year of eligibility practice. Squad didn't count as her crude season then he went active roster for a year practice squad for weight wrong way round practice squad for a year active roster for a year then he was released injured and then signed later to the practice squad god that year and then active roster for a year so he's got his all all split up to where technically he does have one more year left one week on the practice squad and your third what year and that's your third year. It doesn't have to be the full season so <hes> that's the deal with johnny holden them since that was brought up <hes>. I'm trying trying to catch up. I'm way behind you. Gotta see this k- keep skipper and gilbert. Those are two guys that i am desperately trying to say thank you matt thomas. I'm trying to find a way to keep both of them. I really am logan. Lorenzo ola the i are lot of people are saying that i say no way i eight weeks minimum olot that would be ready by week two at worse week for no reason to miss that that's why they had him do the surgery earlier and that was it <hes> brandon lead says that he thinks gentry's the three and they trade her side and number two it would be nice but i don't know that they can ron about five live outside and five inside. That's what i'm looking for. That's what i'm trying to fit onto this team. I just don't know if i can the biggest thing working against to our skipper and it. It was brought up today by him. He hasn't played any special teams and he doesn't know why he does not know why he wants to play special teams. They haven't put him out there. I have a feeling we're going to see see him on the field for a special teams because if he can do that as well kind of like ola was then then that would definitely lock him in my opinion so no people <hes> someone did ask their daredevil asked about what's up with the steelers still won't say anything because they don't have to <hes> all all these reports are still unconfirmed but if that's the case he key could be back..

"On a full scale for many reasons, one is because the depth your team, you only dress forty forty six guys including the third quarterback. Sometimes you don't have you can't rotate as much guys get hurt on the edge. Like you just don't have the opportunities you do in college in the NFL in this offense. Worries me you're gonna put your defense. We saw with chip Kelly when you have a bunch. Of three announcer. Defense on the feudal way too long gonna get gashed. And so I wanna see what, what Kingsbury does. But I just I don't buy four wide receivers. Even if one of them is a tight end as being a base offense that you can win consistently National Football League. Jeff schwartz. Joining us almost a decade in the NFL Big Ben, we predicted on this show, watch him curry favor with his new debates is that he got married had kids and wasn't as great a teammate, right this. And now suddenly after the ABC situation, levian, my prediction is you watch him go back to be in, like a guy's guy so video of him at his lake house, and it's his receivers and his running backs and might take away his Jeff, he's going to have a great year. I think he's got a great year. Even outside of this is the first time in his career, at least in a long time. Let's say where this entire team including him as been motivated, and also been able to say, no one thinks we're gonna. Win. They have the underdog card for once in a long, long time. And obviously he heard the criticism. We heard what, what lady on bell said, would obviously Antonio Brown said, and he's going out and trying to fix that. He's trying to be a better leader because to his players, he's heard that ends good. It means he's listening to to criticism about himself. But to me, I've said this since the odds came out the students one AFC north is stealing the plus money on. That is unbelievable value over the Browns that are even money to win the salad in the north. What are they haven't been a plastic two thousand two? Now we're crowning them champs of, of the AFC north division. Yes, I love the value of the two plus two hundred plus one eighty it was it plus two fifty at one point as well. They have a great offense line of hall of fame quarterback. They still have weapons. They lost in Tonio Brown. But they still have juju James Washington to have James Connor their defense that Bush was huge traffic for them to add him they can still rush. The passer gotta get better in the back end to first time and forever a veteran team with a great coach is motive. It'd like this to show people that can do without their star wide receiver which we've seen teams win without star wide receivers. Do you by the way, do you bet the NBA? Yes. I that's what I notice it was good yesterday out a good day yesterday. So you took. Yesterday. I took I took the raptors first quarter. First half in bucks. Third quarter. Oh, you're one of those gamblers. Yeah. It's sometimes not good. You're, you're all in on quarter betting Doug NBA playoffs. Quarter betting is almost better than game bedding because I feel like it ebbs. And flows. Like you have a home team the raptors down, oh to going back home to play while in the first half and then the better team at times takes over like I bet Portland first quarter of game three which they won about the warriors money line to win the game like Portland comes out hot and then the better team wins in the end. You very smart, Florida's very, very smart. Anybody here and Danny Shapiro. My new podcast Hanley secrets chess wrapped up its first season and it's filled with stories about the secrets that are kept from us secrets to keep from others, and the secrets, we keep from ourselves.

"Agency in the draft it riders even because let's be honest with AB gone wide receiver position. Now moves directly up into. I would say the top three team needs this off season. How are you approaching it? And do you think juju Smith Schuster is a legitimate number one? Because a lot of people aren't sold on that. They think that he's a product of Antonio Brown drawing a lot of attention away from him. What are your thoughts on that? As a whole. I'm not gonna go as far as that his production, solely a product AB. I don't think he's a number warm receiver. However, I think he's probably a one and a half of the he's very good number two in terms of you know, been Rothlisberger strength is quarterback. I think been a better in a meter intermediate to deep ball thrower with that being said, I think what you have to do in their offense. Is you need a wide receiver to play to exposition? And so I don't think judkins ideal position is the ex I think juju is a fighter and I think he's a slot receiver. I think those are where he excels maybe they have that guy on the roster currently and chains Washington, which was his forte. But as Jeff shakes his head in the background. And I'm shaking, I internal it that no James Washington isn't the guy they're going to have to draft a guy. So I think that brings wide receiver back into play in the first round or have happy. Go get a wide receiver in free agency. They have to have somebody to take up that exposition another way I think they could attack. It is you attack it from tide imposition, and you have another vertical threat at the tight end spot attacking scenes in stretching field out in a sensually. You have a lot a slob receivers in your threats or your tidy. It's that maybe you do it that way as well. But I think the Steelers are going to go target a wide receiver. And here's the thing. The one positive thing to remember in all of this is that juju James Washington Antonio Brown. None of those guys were first round draft picks. Mike wallace. I don't believe was the first round draft pick will Sanders wasn't a first round draft pick. I've named five theory the players that they felt so there is a track record in. Here's a strong suggestion that the Steelers will be able to draft a wide receiver and develop that position. I don't know if you'll find an ABC, but I wouldn't have said you would have found an AB when they found in trying to channel my inner joy. And I'm going to suggest that this organization will be able to sufficiently fine a wide receiver or several via whatever run out. They take two. Make some some of that loss. Production of AB. I think they'll find a very good player be able to develop that player. It's just a fifteen touchdowns. Let me ask you Jeff of those fifteen touchdowns with the current offensive players. They have distribute those out to the current players that they have on the roster. Well, I think the James Washington will be more prepared this year. I think we'll get more opportunities this season. So I would say put a number to that. So let's okay. Five. Okay. So that's ten more. I say Jalen Samuels expanded role especially as a slot receiver especially in the red zone. We'll be utilized. We'll say three to four. Now, I'm gonna give on low and I'll say eight so we got seven more, okay? I think that honestly you're going to see tight ends utilize a little bit more. So maybe Vance McDonald takes two three. So we'll go ten we've got five left five left. It's tough. I mean, James corner will probably get a couple. So we'll say to James Connor as receiver maybe just three left. And then I would assume that maybe three left. He think Ryan Switzer will probably cash in a few times they're going to have new receiver. So. Can distribute. I think the question is though will the guys. So for Washington. I think it's just a plus five. I don't think he's core. But he's four touchdown last year. He did he is I touch was an NFL touchdown. Okay. So he would have to get six..

"We talk about what we care about focusing just as much on what's happening off the court Enfield as what's happening on we share stories talk about our families and occasionally go from off the bench off the rails. Subscribe anywhere podcasts found it's nanna cakes. All right, Jamie. What's that awesome? Travis Kelsey story. So Kelsey was a part of our I think it was the pick six show that we did at at Super Bowl for CBS sports, which we will be doing again at the NFL combine so fun show with the Wilburn kind of piggybacking off the pick six podcast, which are highly recommend downloading in any event. So I asked calc-, no, you you got the chance to have a six you had a successful season with Alex Smith in twenty seventeen and then Patrick Mahomes twenty eight hundred nine I spoke to him in in between and he said in in between seasons. He said he was a little know. He was cautiously optimistic about the homes taking over for Smith because myth was so good for him. And so he said the offense with Alex Smith was like you driving along in the car, and you have a really good song on. And you know, you're just you're enjoying it. It's it's really good. You know, you're Bob in your head. It's just a really fun situation and then homes comes on. And it's just like this different. Song? And it's a it's a great song. It's a little bit faster little bit more upbeat you trying to figure out who singing it, and you just really can't turn it off. And so I thought it was just really fun to hear him say, you know, what he wasn't gonna say anything bad about you understandably so but just the the whole like really kinda picture him like he's almost pretended. Like he was driving. You know, it was it was just one of those things like you could you could see him just kinda light up a little bit with with what Mahomes meant him. I'm trying to think of what songs would would be explicit which one would be Patrick Mahomes while for you. It'd probably be like Alex Smith would be Bryan Adams. Chili pepper. Well, we'll keep it in the Bryan Adams family, like like, Alex Smith would be like everything, I do, you know? You're just listening to your probably singing along your joy is nice. And then all of a sudden cuts like knife comes on. And it's Mahomes. Just like, yeah. Let's rock. All right. And a lot of these things if you just want to find the full interview, and you could see what Kelsey said word for word if you just Google their names and CBS sports HQ the full interview will come up some other stuff. What did you miss? You sir have say about being the number one guy. So at the time, obviously Brown and the trade demands had not been necessarily met not that they've been met yet. But I think you know, I'm going with that the Steelers wearing indicating that they're going to trade him. So he was pretty adamant that at at that point early February that Brown would be back. But I asked myself, let's assume Brown's gone, how do you feel about being the number one guy? And he said this is direct quote, obviously being the number one guy. I'm going to embrace that taking that role. It's going to be unbelievable. It's going to be an honor. I just finished writing about juju James Connor taking over the lead roles for Pittsburgh fully now embracing that it's gonna be interesting. See how juju rates as the number one guy. You know, he's entering his third season. I don't know how much better he'll be production-wise. You know, when you go from one hundred eleven catches leads the team fourteen hundred yards leads the team seven touchdowns second on the team behind Brown. He's now gone from a fifty eight catch guy almost doubled his his reception. Total from his rookie season his yards. Go up by over five hundred he had seven touchdowns as a rookie. I don't know if there's a higher ceiling get production-wise, but he may be looking at one hundred fifty targets..

"But is he declining twelve point five yards per catch? Last year was low that I will remind you it was twelve point one in two thousand sixteen and then two thousand seventeen was incredibly fifteen point two yards per catch. He was having basically his best season. His catch rate on the other hand sixty two percent, two straight seasons. That's pretty low for an Tony. Brown. It was sixty eight point eight percent or better three prior years. And last year sixty two percent, basically two years in a row sixty two percent. So that's the question. Gotta ask is he on the decline. He he might be. And that's something to keep my with him. And just Pittsburgh was a great situation for him. You know, we had a great report with Ben Rothlisberger. Ben Rothlisberger is even a top twelve quarterback next year without in Tokyo Brown. Pending. What else they do at the position? No, the difficult part is through the ball so much over the last two years. I mean, six hundred forty attempts seems very reasonable. If he throws that many times in just as juju James, Washington, James Connor. He's still probably a top twelve quarterback for me. But certainly not like top-five. No right now, I've got him third. So I have to drop them a little all right? Four point passing. Touchdown league. Rank the AFC north quarterbacks. If Brown is not on the Steelers, and they don't replace them. And they draft a wide receiver in the first round. Which usually doesn't mean all that much in a rookie year. I would be surprised if they would do that. They're good at finding receivers later on draft day. But I think it would be Baker been Lamar Dolton, which is how I haven't. Now. Anyway, just the gap between then and Lamar which shrink, and there would be a bigger gap between Baker and Ben a Browns quarterback the number one quarterback in the AFC north and fence. Okay. Let's go to our next news item. Joe flacco is reportedly being traded to the Denver Broncos. Here's my prediction. This is John Elway's last year as in the front office. He will be fired at the end of the two thousand firing who's firing. John Elway the Broncos. I don't know. They've got they've got a lot of ownership issues right now that they might not want to try and yet he's gone. This is terrible decision. Upside down he one failed quarterback after another from a former quarterback. It's it's terrible. They're going to be awful goodbye. That's that's how I'm feeling right now. I feel similarly this is not good for anyone is it. No, it's. It's a mess. They're going to draft another quarterback. So I think you have to Joe flacco data's elite but more as like stopgap elite, but or just view him as exactly the same guy that lecture..

"Sometimes you can't always do that you have to look at it for more of a realistic standpoint. And I see that as for the Steelers to prove that they can continue to win even without some of these key names. But the hope is that these teams are going to be. I'm back that includes Antonio Brown because you have been aby juju James Connor and that offense when they're healthy. And now, you think about in the future, you could have more. You're more salary cap space with a fourteen point five million dollars at lady on Dell left behind you're going to have an increase in the salary cabin general. They might actually get a gun gets defensive players in free agency. And then they get a couple of draft picks. I personally feel this team's only a few players away. You might laugh at me and say that I'm a Homer. And that's fine. It's not the first time in called that. But ultimately, I feel like this team is few players away from being a civil champion. Will they get it done? Well, two thousand eighteen proved a lot, but at the same time that doesn't mean on paper they aren't capable of getting it done. So what do you do at this point? "He hasn't been good on the road this year. Right. He has as many touchdowns as interceptions when he's been playing away from Los Angeles completing under sixty percent of his passes. Okay. He's averaging just thirteen point two fantasy points per game. When he's on the road this year, you think about AirAsia who's really. Good against the past. And you can argue the reason there's really good against the passes. No one passes on them because they can run so easily. But the fact is is that over the last four weeks. They're the twelfth best run pass defense in the NFL again like part of that is because it is so easy to run against them. But given Todd Gurley or whoever they had they're so good running the ball. I don't think this offense is the zone. Offense is going to be able to do very much against the Rams defense. It's improved recently. So you know in the Zona cardinals probably the worst offense in football. So that the Rams are up big in this game. I don't think there's going to be a lot of volume needed for Jared Goff. That's why have them as as low as I do you have you are confident though, you have him as Huby seven to finance them as cube six. Second lowest interception rate in the league. Like, there's it's just it's not defense. It scares you as you right by Jared Goff. Oh, here we go be a top twelve quarterback in week sixteen. I say Jared Goff will not be top twelve quarterback in week sixteen. Put it up on the board. Julio Jones spotted at practice by the way for the Atlanta Falcons. Good news Lee layer that David Johnson is the only cardinal that you're starting with some confidence. The Rams can't stop anybody against the run. It seems so far this year Larry FitzGerald, a flex play. Heck if you want play there FitzGerald just out of respect for the possibility that this could be the last time you could ever play him. I'm okay with that Rams are fourteen and a half point favorites. I ain't the Rams get on track here and win this game. Matthew to yet? I'm going to take the Rams Daniel. I'm gonna take the cardinals this number is just too big too. Big. Okay. Star falling what he say. Rams. All right Steelers and slam up ram up steel end saints really good game in New Orleans on Sunday for the starter for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Ben Rothlisberger in Antonio Brown. But the injuries to fun. You are equally notable James Connor and juju Smith Schuster. What do we know about Connor and juju? James Connor doubtful to play this point. Look, I think that is important. Listen to the what James Connors words, where I think he's been this is the classic description ankle sprain. He's like, you know, I can walk around. I'm not limping I feel fine. But it's a whole different thing when you're trying it out there and run and cut and do football maneuvers, and he just can't do it. So he just he sort of at a point that he hasn't been able to progress beyond to allow him to play in a football game. And they have to be smart with this injury. So that it doesn't threaten the health of his ankle across the course of his career. So not totally surprising to me they typically multi week injuries. You know, another week or two and you start looking at him improving, but I you're not going to see him this week and juju Smith Schuster goes on the injured port as limited on Thursday with groin issue. Jeremy Fowler had tweeted yesterday that after being limited wide receiver. James Washington says is registered if necessary, but believe Smith Schuster will be fine. Of course that's coming from another player..

And I will say this before I close the show if Joshua does does turn out to be even a potential starter in the NFL for the Steelers even that two thousand seventeen draft class is looking pretty pretty kid forget pretty good. Seriously, think about it, man. I mean, that's TJ. What juju James Connor Joshua? I mean, that's ham. Certain. Yeah. As a credible. Not saying those are all hall of fame guys.
