The new law rolls back some of the bail reform measures passed last year after a backlash from law enforcement and prosecutors. W. N. Any crime that results in someone's death like leaving the scene of a car accident. The rollback also allows prosecutors to ask for bail for anyone arrested for a felony while on parole. Criminal justice advocates say the original bail reform law help drastically reduced the population on Rikers Island, and the changes will set back the process of closing that notorious jail.
