"Over, in the United Kingdom and his on HBO here in the States Discussing the shows. it's a mini series that split between. Three different parts, the first part is summer It has three episodes of focus on law. The third part is cold winter her and focuses on Naomie Harris but the second part autumn. Is going to be presumably depending on if this is still happening is a one off live event in London that won't be is described as an immersive theatre events. I if you like the already filmed it. Yeah. It's but it's supposed to be alive segment. Yeah. So maybe they were who I thought. They meant that they recorded it live ewing I've live. Okay. Okay. Yeah. Yeah I don't is I don't I don't know it errors on October. It's slaves they are Tober third in the UK unclear when we're going to get it or if we're going to get it but the show Arizona, like one continuous take. So maybe they've already shot it maybe I just need to read up on it more but it's just it's a little weird. but I'm intrigued by it from a trans media sort of approach depending on what this ends up being. So. Here's the deal at least with the first episode Jude Law Plays A. Fellow who ends up. In this mysterious island off the English coast following saving a teenager pre teenager from hanging herself in the forest where he's been. Morning. It's implied. It's a little unclear. His backstory is slowly rolled out over the course assode, but then revealed to not necessarily be everything that he's been telling us. Shifting shifting narrative type of thing and what's happening on this island is some sort of. Mix of music, festival and Celtic. reappropriation of a cultural festival kind of deal Based on the history of this island in particular that's called OC oh sea. It has all the hallmarks of a creepy instore island that no-one should stay out for any longer than they have to type deal. So it's very much in the vein of like a wicker man or I presume midsummer because I have not watched midsummer because I am a little pansy. In terms of horror type stuff hereditary scared me so much I didn't sleep for three days so I did not watch it some are which is from the same director. Is Hereditary. But it has that same kind of. insular community is implied to be doing weird pagan ask culture. Tradition type deals. Kind of thing happening. But the first episode. Relies heavily on our familiarity with those kinds of narratives to create the creep factor of the episode which I think is a failing because the show then juxtaposes that uneasiness of being trapped on this island because the tides make the causeway inaccessible to connect back to the mainland. By a car, you can swim if you want to but you know. It gets juxtaposed against the more standard like kind of blood and Gore's so to character Sam, stumbles across a sector swirl with certain organs picked out on put on like little rocks around it. Which is fine like it's it. All fits within the confines of this particular narrative. But then he stumbles into like this abandoned like. Greenery or something where there's a ton of like bones and. Viscera. On just a lot of stuff that kind of culminates in this weird vision of him half covered in blood screaming in the granary So there's these weird shifts between. What's happening in his head or what's happening in the actual? World around him that. TRY TO RAMP UP THE HORN agree way that doesn't really fit with the creepy vibe of thanks. So there's for me there's disconnect between. Wanting to be creepy in that old town country way right and then whined to do this horror Gore kind of thing which. Those things are of a piece traditionally. But the ways in which are being deployed here is neither one ends up being as effective as they should be. Okay So it creates a we're disconnect in the first episode. I'm sure I'm going to watch any more. I think jude. Law's really good in this, but he's also doing pretty standard Jewish law type of stuff. Katherine Waterston shows up as a nother semi outsider she someone who's come to the island a couple of times and is here has written a paper about or like a dissertation or thesis. Traditions at their coopting, but she's been to the island a few times. She knows people here and they know her. So she's a semi outsider, but she's not as much of an outsider SAM is. So, there's a couple of things happening there as well that create an illusion of safety that we both that we as an audience know were exactly valor allusions the stand out is Patty Constantine who has been in a bunch of like editor right stuff but also plenty of other British Independent. Films. Keys fabulous as Mr Martin, who's the local innkeeper in tavern but he's very offshoots type of character and he nails that whole semi evasive invasive over sharer small. Shopkeeper type is very again. Part of this narrative and he hits it really well, he's arguably the best weirdest thing about the show and I really really like it So, we'll see I'm worried that going to get to weirder us, power weird for me. But. We'll see I'm just so interested in autumn that I'm probably GONNA. Keep up with at least through to see what this theatrical event thing is because I'm just so compelled by the concept But yeah, I. Don't know that this is something for I think horror fans will find the first episode kind of boring whereas not her fans will also find it boring but for different reasons because it's a lot of setup in terms of getting you to a point where they want to be at the end by the end of the episode. As dramas, some of that stuff isn't particularly compelling. And, some of that stuff can also just feel really contrived because the phone lines are going down because they're being upgraded for the festival it's going to start, but they're going to be down all weekend because the work needs to be done in the workers don't work on the weekends, etc, etc, etc.. So it's INELEGANT lines that all makes sense within a Johner. So. The first episode I don't think his balance of accessibility amp but also being something that horror aficionados are gonna be really into it sounds like so far I want to read a write up about it but watch it is yes where Matt and I think that's an accurate way of thinking about it. Okay. which takes me just swimmingly over to departure which premiered on peacock. There are six episodes in the first season it was renewed for a second season. I assume not on peacock, but on the original channels network in. A week or so ago, but this is a British and Canadian..

I think it I think people will probably like captain marvel more after the next Infinity war will after this movie because there are some glimmers of her cool new not full four. I'm having so much fun. But I do love to scrap it up, basically a captain America. That doesn't brewed every time. He has to fight. It was the same in America. When you watch the first avenger that I remember being like, not very I was kind of boring, then you watch ventures and you're like holy shit. He got all America. Everybody loved him after that. Because. So yeah. Yeah. You wanna take in a, you know, a half of the fund she has when she's just scrapping with Jude law in her like wrestling with him or whatever you want to apply that to just her in like. Unloving the skipping the school ship. I thought was pretty fun. Like, she she showed some personality in her fighting in that I enjoyed, but it was just I think the action was disjointed. There is a point in the invite when she's fighting Jude law, and then it cuts to the scrolls running away and Jude law as their and they cut back the fight. And he's not like it's really makes no sense like Jesus and the ending wasn't the best little a little excited. No, it wasn't the best feeling. You can see that in that space ship fight. You couldn't see what was happening. I agreed arc. There's also there's also a point because there's a battle happening on earth. And then also in the spaceship, but ones like flying chase just putting this out here. Just for anyone watching or any you guys if you are chasing someone through a canyon in spaceships, you can go above and still pursue it works. It's shocking. And it'll probably be way easier. See this is why avoid you guys know this about me, speaking of zipping in zipping out, I don't I don't talk. I don't chat. I don't hang out because I just need to kind of myself on my own, but at festivals it almost feels like people, you know, they want to be the first out with an opinion. And there's just this weird group thing kind of takes place, and I just think it it's distorting and it's wrong. And I always go back to the guy. Don't sergeant Pepper's lonely hearts club band. Really? Like, exactly. That's right. Yeah. I was going to be like, I'm when top this right time. So yeah, I don't think any of us would recommend so now so we got a four star. We've got two zero. We have I zero we've given. Wow. Okay. Happy. Usually an is the nice one. I'm trying to find something. Nice. That silver. Look like Natalie Portman is having a good time playing and she's just Channing it up like fun to watch. It's funny. It's kind of like, she's just so nasty awful. And that must be fun to do as an actor Jude law, but nothing release going with his character later sister. I can't remember now look at that. Anyway, it doesn't matter happiest as Lazaro happy. Oh, that's how they. Eliza room. Mario Stacey Stacey. Yes. What is this? This is a little movie by an actress named Alice. Roar Walker and she's kind of a darling cans, she she has a lot of her stuff goes to can. And she's interesting. I think she's been doing some really interesting movies lately. And this one is a Netflix movie, speaking of Netflix. I don't even know how many theaters it would even be at this point. I think it's probably only on net flicks about it's kind of a ladder day. Fable about a naive guileless young shepherd in Italy. Who is he's kind of a chance the gardener figure. You know, this kind of look nine lovely boy who will do anything you ask them to very obedient, very kind of question. So the chance the gardener figure is being there. Gogo just wanna make sure I reminded me a lot of trouble. Yeah. And it's a weird movie. There's there's kind of a time travel element to it. It's it it takes place in a real world. But it feels almost like a tale out of the like a parable from the bible. Sometimes like you're wondering what is she getting it with this? You're wondering the same thing you do with FOX lead in a good way. Like, what is this about vulnerability and believe and kindness and goodness. And what happens to the good? I don't know. It's it's it's a provocative little movie. I don't I just watched it last night. And I haven't formed my most hardened opinion around it. But. Italy. Anna talion, see, okay should not. So there's a. Subtitles. And but it's an interesting. She's just I think she's an interesting filmmaker. And it's gotten lots of really good. I think my colleagues in the film critic community like it more than I do. It's it's one of the best reviewed movies of the year..
Golden Globes nominations and the Oscars find a host...for now
"KCRW sponsors include neon presenting vox, Lux, twenty-first-century portrait of Celeste a pop megastar grappling with a tragic past starring Academy Award winner, Natalie Portman and Academy Award nominee, Jude law academy eligible in all categories opens Friday. I'm Kim masters, and this is the Hollywood breakdown joining me is Matt Bellamy of the Hollywood reporter, and Matt we have the Golden Globes nominations out today, and I cannot discuss the Golden Globes without once again, noting what the heck are the Golden Globes. I mean, this is a group of foreign press people, and they are not a big group about ninety. I think is how many there are and they have managed, you know, kudos to them to create this gigantic deal around a bunch of reporters, some of them who I think are not even fulltime reporters may not have been published for awhile anywhere that you've even heard of. But whatever they've made it into this huge deal this huge telecast. And even though it has no connection to the academy whatsoever. It is. Deemed to have influence, so I guess we have to talk about. Yeah. And the fact of the matter is the Globes do matter they're an awards body that starts off the season their their nominations are in play during the very important holiday movie going seasons. So they can be influential on box office, and they are an indicator of the Oscar nominations, and I think this year the big winner from the globe. It's gotta be vice the Dick Cheney movie from Adam McKay, which has six nominations to lead the field. Yeah. I mean vices people thought that Christian bale would be nominated for playing Dick Cheney. But I don't think it had been seen in the best picture category. I don't know if it truly influences, but maybe on some unconscious level this attention does influence, so I'll let you have that point. Again. There are some changes. I do think that the Hollywood Foreign Press has tried to do better. There has been a wrap in the past that they snub movies with African American cats that did not happen this year movies that are in the mix. This year are black klansman. From Spike Lee, Black Panther. Of course, the marvel movie, and if Beale street could talk which is based on James Baldwin story. So those movies are in and that's better one thing that has not gotten better. And this was pointed out last year by Natalie Portman and announcing the nominations no women nominees again in the director category. That is unfortunate. I don't think the Academy Awards nominations will likely have any female directors. Either least how it's playing out right now Tamara Jenkins is sort of in the race for the fertility drama private life that she directed for net. Flicks. There is Debra Granik has leave no trace, but that's considered a smaller movie, and Marielle Heller has can you ever forgive me, which is getting more notice for Melissa McCarthy's performance, and she was nominated today as well. Yeah. Of course, there's khloe show with the writer, which just wanna Critics Award in New York. So that I think might be on the academy's potentially. It's a small. Movie, but potentially on the kademi threat. Our TV is where the most controversy happens, you know, things like succession overlooked, which is a very well regarded HBO series, and you know, certain things that don't seem to make sense, but I'm just going to pivot away from that for second to talk briefly about the Academy Awards after a long delay. The academy has come up with a host or ABC for the ABC telecast, Kevin Hart instantly, there are issues on the internet because of homophobic jokes that Kevin Hart had tweeted unfortunate. But it's a very tough job the academy to find a host. And it looks like they may have overlooked something here. Yeah, he certainly popular and has a lot of movies that people love. So we'll see when that they stay with them. Thank you, Matt. Thank you. That's Melanie editorial director of the Hollywood reporter. He joins me this Monday at two o'clock on the business. So yeah, the best part is Alex Gibbs. Ellis gifts was tough son of a bitch. He would say he was a really tough dude and still is by the way like that. He's eighty three, but Alex gives super tough and he's like, yeah, you can. You can just beat my s by do this in a game notice probably he said in a game, I don't know about practice. You try and a practice that's you can just kill him. Yeah. You can throw you can toss me around like, I'm and you're the hope buddy. You could tell Mr Lamy you assume identity. Now I'm Alex Gibbs shit. This kinda sucks was making more money before what do this always talented mister? Ripley up? Don't tell don't don't don't talented mister Ripley down. Right? Don't be like, hey, now they're gonna say density mad. He's got terrible credit. Oh. Riot, who would you tell tell Mr. Ripley so you could just assume someone else's identity after killing them in Italian villa. I don't know. They'll know it's on a boat. Yeah. Oh, no, I I do it to Jude law just for the like the hilarity factor. The irony. You'd killed you law. Right? And then as soon as I didn't, I. As to like. He's different. Yeah, of the take care of myself lately. Been real sick. Up and do this work out. Doctors, lots of bedrest and twizzlers is what you get. Happier than I've ever been. I'm still a great actor though. Anyway. Yeah, what am I doing here? Cool. Just start taking to start taking all Jude law's. Worst offers. Right. Beethoven nine. Yeah, let's do it. Yell act in that. What time do you want me to come act. I would tell Mr. the Queen of England. I don't think that's how no there specific rules about how that works about the same Bill, like the pic you pick the exact job where they have thought a lot about what happens if this person dies. Yeah, so it's fine. I'll just show up and they won't even know meetings. Not if I'm the paperwork is involved in being the Queen of England. Will you're describing is also basically the plot of king Ralph, that's that's fine. Art, what you're not inspired by king Ralph. Are you a philistine. Sorry. Yeah. So that was that was my favorite favorite JIMBO. Fisher movement moment of the weekend is to see this little coach. They've signed for seventy five million dollars for ten years, but in his hands on a three hundred pound kid like he's not taunting death itself out. I get coaching them heart. Coaching them heart so that they lose by only seven to Arkansas, which at this point is like they beat Arkansas que they beat Arkansas. It's fine when we should talk about Notre Dame. I know you don't want to. I was thinking about Jude law. I know. Ok. Look if he just if you like, fuck with your TV's visual settings, and you can't really tell that it's Notre Dame. This is a very fun football team to watch their like pretty good in. They know what they're doing and they don't get super rattle them. They are competent on both sides of the ball and like they're aggressive on defense and they kinda mix it up on. I don't know. Notre Dame is good and not like in that slogging terrible. Why do I have to deal with this kind of way is weird. No, I mean, sure. Cher. I mean in yards per play, they're still right around what UCLA. That can't be true. It is. Yeah, it is. I don't if yet now that was last year, not this year after anything. I can to avoid actually looking directly at Notre Dame being good. You're going to have to because there's nobody left on the skit, the the only thing you should hear. I know you don't want to deal with. They're gonna lose the pit. But other than that, other than that, the season defining lost a pet..

"And by the way he's been on some pretty good teams, foreign nineteen against teams that are five hundred or better because you know what teams that are five hundred or better have star quarterbacks. He's foreign nineteen. So tonight. Gimme that gimme that gimme that star moment and Jude law's career. The scene in which you're like, woo, it Anabel one, Tom Cruise mission. Impossible. Second best movie ever made had a couple of moments where I'm like, wow, STA literally can't take your eyes off him hanging from a cliff. Can't take your eyes off him. A few good men can't take your eyes off by the way. Stars aren't stars all the time. Jack Nicholson's been a hundred and fifty movies. He's probably got one hundred sixty scenes where you're like, oh my God, he is, you didn't every scenes. Not like that. Tom Cruise has like twelve scenes in his life, one of minutes underwear. Remember that one singing in his underwear where you're like, oh, he's a star July, the NEB, any of them. Kirk cousins, have any of them. Jared Goff had one last week. He was the best throw on the planet by any quarterback and you're like, that's why the number one pick remember even stars aren't stars every play, but they can take you to places that non-stars can't for the record. Tom Cruise does his own stunts. Due to star mission, impossible second best movie ever made after the godfather. I'm not kidding. You. Half of my staff still hasn't seen it. Wait until you see the cliffs, they paying you to promote. I'm good. I'm honestly starting to believe it. That's what's happening here. No, second best movie ever call and you know what? Let me reconsider by tomorrow. It could be the best one I've ever seen. Are you trying to get a role mission, impossible, seven. He is so good at it too is so good cruises, so good. But there's about two scenes in the movie or you're like, owed Tom's special. I know it can be Kuku I don't somebody don't like his religion. I know the Oprah jump on a couch thing about two times in that movie. You're like, Jude law can do that. Be sure to catch live additions of the heard weekdays at noon eastern, not a m Pacific. This is gonna be stay until this car chase space invasion, and I met you and he's almost like not as intense, you know, as we see them as the older victory so that that's very cool to and in also I think it will resonate with fans at. The first before after captain America. The first hero that was part of the modern era was a woman, the red counting that in and then it looks like she's going to be the pun intended Trump card in in Infinity war. So I think a lot of people be really pleased if they execute this. Well, you know, you introduced the scrawls and the first thing I am surprised when even talk about this yet is who's already a fucking scrawl because now this is a very easy macguffin to undo things to bring characters back saying these people were actually scrawls this whole time, and he just didn't know until now. Do you think they'll do that to to some of their bigger characters now yet they when maybe. Do you think Dr strings looked into the possibilities. He saw that all somebody was scrawls and let them die. Oh, maybe that the scrolls actually took over that. The invasion happened will how would the macguffin a work? Otherwise, I don't know the fucking mentioned it. Well. This another confusing shot of like they're doing an autopsy on a scroll in what's his name? Is there as the the human version plays Talas forgot his name. Ben Mendelsohn character who's got to play the scroll leader. He stating there as human, like cutting up a scrawl. You see real quick in, we'll the quantum realm be a part of her, the explosion that makes her I like how this is not like a traditional origin. We're gonna see it through flashbacks. We're probably going to learn it as she learns it, which is that's that's a great narrative thing. I love when they do that. So I don't know. I'm I'm excited for this for now. We're all kind of wellness. Yeah. Overwhelm just perfectly perfectly. You seen some of the stuff on Jude law? Yeah. Is he gonna be the bad guy is what people seem to be saying think he is been very coy about this, so he's not marvel? I don't think he's marvel. I think he's yon Rog. Oh, I saw that name pop up, which is like, what is that? That's. He's a cream at Chris older. That's kind of the bad guy, bad guy. All you might wanna guy that I think mine wipes are in than she figures out about her past being on earth. I mean, they're telling the story. It looks like again, pure speculation, but looks like they're tone it where she's gonna have flashback. So it's not non linear stories writing. Right? But there's this running theme of her always like getting up from fire getting. Yeah, several. See a kid. You see your trainings, here's a pilot, but all I hope she looks bad ass. Like I'm hoping she comes off as just like you did up. Fuck with Carol. Danvers kept a marvel. Why would like to? I just wanna see how they're going to distinguish her character from any other character we've seen in marvel or in DC. Like what? What are her defining traits? We know what captain America's our list, three or four things about each one. I'm curious to see how they're gonna make her different. You don't. We already have kind of like to brash, cocky dudes like iron man and maybe like doc doctor strange does his own thing. Like I mean, you got doctor strange iron man. You got star lower. Oh yeah. The pita closely authorities says be pretty cocky. Yeah. Got captain calved America who's like the pit ame- of just doing good, you know. They're not as Power Rangers. They're just in there like casual, Geezer, whatever they stole that. Okay. Well, you know, I had fun talking about stuff today. Did you. Surprised you laws in this. He loves you. Money loves money. Second career resurgence. What else is like? What else? Besides this is Cussing research, double door, DVD sales of the Taliban. We don't know what he's like Dumbledore yet better. Better than Michael Cambon and the guy who dies. Old man from Troy. The old name for Troy preempt. Yeah, was always fun as. You're so great. I'm a lot of fun too. Dance. All right. Harry potter. I like how the first Dumbledore in like the second movie, I didn't know at the time of people were like, I don't know how this is gonna die like that still required too much energy for him to be up in the tower and get hit and. And he wouldn't make it up the stairs to shot. So first Dumbledore it's going to say, no, it should say Jude law. In the best please change. I just wasn't crazy about how much looked like a wizard like he looked Erica cheer. He looked like the party city wizard like it just says, you know, fantastical, Harry wizard, but h a, I r y now no, Google. The street actor. That's his title. It's like, that's not the character east playing Assistance, jogging. john. Look to the right. Perfect for guy. I think the end of one or two remember that I think it was at Lucy's. I did. You know who the bad guy wasn't goes. Oh, well, then it was like, I love this day. Harry Potter. Oh yeah. The same. Who's this? Dumbledore some, let's Dumbledore laws. Can we? Okay. How did we get on this. You did this to us. I was talking about there leather costumes than second. Yeah, episodes should be. Who should be young door who should play the catheters, Jude law man. He's the man for the plan, play peek. I would casts. For. Because town seven finding contact dress. Yeah. So we're talking about Dumbledore and that transitions a little bit into the last thing talked about today, which is a follow up to at least tweet from last week where she was flagging on out. Do we not. Perfume go for it. But you're, you're slugging on anti heroes and how brooding and boring that is now and said, you're more in favor of moral beacons. Yeah, slagging on them, I think. Yeah, thank I said that I'm kind of I'm over over anti heroes because anti heroes are not just brooding. They're not to stark like Michael. Scott is a fantastic example of a wonderful anti hero who is doesn't anti hero by definition isn't just brooding dark or have malicious intent. They just don't fit the the what you think a true hero is. Okay. So like even like if like Paddington he has a lot of like traits of a heroic. He's courageous, but he's very fumbling, you know, he's so even like. You know, Frank drubbing from police squad is a very good anti hero because he's not doesn't have bad intentions. He just not your typical here like by definition. Jay Gatsby is another great anti hero. So like I'm just over the dark brooding venom, anti hero. It's like, or I guess the the Walter, Michael gambon more of a jute. I'm over the anti hero. That's like they have to have. Like their intent isn't good or you know they're doing it for self. Yeah, I'm, I'm over the Frank Underwood. I guess what Irwin though these dead, but he's dead villain. I mean, the thing is the term hero is used interchangeably with protagonist. Doesn't necessarily always mean good hero generally means. The character with the most clear goal that you will be focusing on for the narrative piece. That would be the protagonist, right? Well, yeah, the protagonist, what, whatever Underwood is not the antagonised of cards. He's the protagonists, but tensions are bad. What they typically teach in film school is the character. The mariner..

"Mama. Mia, here we go again. Exactly. They really might go for it and sort of Italy kick the movie off like it'll even some good momentum as enters the false Hollywood Foreign Press. Is this the people that gave lady Gaga her Golden Globe, right? Ready for her second. Like if she doesn't win it, I think there's an they're gonna burn. Think she already one. There was a press release about that. I Richardson up for you at the Venice lineup. We've talked about, we talked about the trailer last week, but I'm really curious about the favorite yoga's slams most movie, but one that kinda snuck in. Don't know. It's going to be other festivals is Paul Greengrass movie twenty two July, which is, you know, just a cheery comedy about the Norwegian terror attacks of years ago. I did speak to a publicist for the movie a couple of weeks ago, and she told me that. I mean, it's her job to tell me it's good. But what she described to me was not just, you know, it wasn't ninety minutes of a terrorist attack. It's actually more about what the what, Norway did afterward to kind of come together as a community and to prosecute the guy who did it Andy. Now given that he's like a Neo, Nazi, blah, blah, like there's some, sadly, some really pertinent relevance to today. So I'm really curious about that. And then vox Lux which is another musical. I think with Natalie Portman, there should just be a musical festival. Actually Br brilliant idea which you know it stars, Natalie Portman as a pop singer. It's billed as a musical name, UB Jude laws and Jennifer, Jason Leigh and directed by Brady Corbett who we mostly know as an actor from funny games and various other things, clouds cells, Maria. But he directed in two thousand fifteen a movie called the childhood of a leader, which was really well received by some kind of sort of pretentious. Art has piece anyway, I'm very curious about that. I feel like that could be like a slow burn, kind of like dark horse contender for something. Maybe Natalie apartment, I don't know and kind of buried a little bit below the films, I guess because this playing out of competition, there's going to be preview of my brilliant friend. The HBO Elena Francais adaptation, which I'm very curious about. I'm gonna go pick a couple of like fancy director titles which got knows when we'll see them. Some of the may come out last year next year, but you've got the first film from Florin handled von Donner's Mark since the tourist, which was kind of his. Follow up to the lives of others, which was this hugely successful German film. The tourist was disaster. So it's interesting this evening could come back there. Jennifer Kesse director of the Babu has a film competition. The only woman with the film with the foam competition, which is its own thing that I'm really excited to see the film from Laszlo name. As the I think he's a Hungarian director who made on of Saul, which was incredibly Graham kind of them the Paul Greengrass style just deep dive into humid privacy of, but he's got a new film coming. So I'm intrigued to see it has to be lighted than son assault. I don't think there's an option, so we'll see what happens with that. The exciting thing about this lineup and the Toronto line which will talk about is that this year was so weird because there really was not a big awards contender that came out of Sundance. There really wasn't one the came out of can. There wasn't one of the south by southwest, really. So like it's just like, I guess we have Black Panther. That's one we think is in the best picture race. But like beyond that, like we're all of this is like new exciting. Like heaven's seen it stuff. Yes..

"Set up in a relatively narrow space that's so interesting she brought yeah she couldn't move she couldn't move around the set was very tiny you i remember looking at the behind the scenes features on dvd and you're right it looked like maybe like the kind of cuba you'd set up for a vr experience by the way there's a great sketch we're jude law actually parodies himself in sky captain on snl you can find it online and it's really funny i mean he basically shitting on it while he's on snl blast hard cheese writes one of the various problems with this movie i love that all of these are starting off with one of the problems of the movie is the lack of charisma of its stars and i think that's one of the main culprits of it being horrible and awhile jude law is woefully miscast a that should have gone to someone who could pull off that indiana jones hansel elect smart ass swagger i'm thinking of an actor along the lines of ryan reynolds sam rockwell james day someone who can provide levity charm it is instantly relatable to the audience jude law's a great actor but in this raleigh just came off a stuffy ponti and smug you know the traits the heroes nemesis should have or better yet recasts roles a strong intelligent female daredevil and have that has the confidence and jaw dev of a character like roxy rocket tata by the way that is one of the best comments we've read i think you're totally right you kind of nailed it he was stuffy and it made the film field stuffy i would've loved to have seen what chris pratt would have done in that kind of a role cambric writes this movie tout's the world of tomorrow but are they actually living in the world of tomorrow i mean we do see some fantastical things like birdie planes in iron giants in sub planes and androids and dinosaurs mini animals but most of these are the works of a mad scientists and most of it is secret until the events of the movie and the other bits used by this mercenary group are in their british equivalent we see none of this world of tomorrow in the actual everyday world i mean they're just using period typewriters they're using period accurate cameras they still have blimps.

"And where everybody now you'll know is are they were stealing tiny elephants oh i did like the tiny elephant that was cute i loved the tiny elephant tiny elephant is the best part but it did did lead me to believe that jude jude law had like superhero powers because they did only scramble him out there i was sitting there thinking like well this motherfucker is like superman or some shit with somebody like they have so much exposition in this go sky captains are yeah and it's like tell us let let someone know me just a part of the air force yes he a superhero what's the because angelina jolie seemingly is eerie jeez as sky pirates oh sorry i'm sorry it's joey is a nick fury character she has an ipad she is any floating hover thing like an aircraft carrier in the sky that's just nick fury but british but british title is movie actually now that you bring it up what's the skycap it seems like it's like that thing where like a movie is released in like thailand or something and they can't actor describe it and so it's like it's like initially it's called like airplane pilots and the future sky captain that's close enough a world of tomorrow of we've met to believe that the world of tomorrow is the world that they go to like the shangri la world in nepal i think they said it's what it's what will happen with the space noah's ark right because it's because that's those are or or is the world where's that thing going where is it going where is it marin a new planet right yeah they didn't specify what planet i i mean we here's the basic i mean if you want to understand the whole movie here it is a good boy decks he explains the whole thing right here this comes in the very last ten minutes of the movie.

"Oh god this movie i just i just really have a verbs and adjectives here my bird planes robot planes backseat driving jolla the first the first shot of jude law oh yeah because i looked at my notes and i remember it i wanted to bring this up dude law the first shot of jude law is not jude law it's like it proved to me that it's him he is so covered he's got like a high collar for bomber jackets situation he's got like goggles on he's got a hat his eyes are just cate blanchett like it is it is not think kate blanchett i think she was and i think she shot this movie before jude law stepped in and went yeah i can one up old katy if you look at that shot it's not it's gone i'm kind of confused about what a sky captain is and what their job is because at one point robots attacking the city sky captain we'll figure it out willie okay is that his job i used to be he seems to be some sort of superhero so much so that when the bird planes attack the base that he's the stupidest fate over bowl that's what they are that's what they fucking our plates are they don't need to have wings that yeah but they basically only scramble him to get out there and fight them they have so many planes on the ground none of which do they launch into the air to fight these bird planes they just get him out there so he can take them all down and i don't even understand now that i've seen the whole movie what the bird planes or the robot planes even we're doing i don't think they know they were stealing the stealing minerals or whatever but to.
