He's an author creator former sultans pioneer niba publishing being amongst i realize how well using video and text together made such a wonderful learning experience and today while he's extremely busy working full us. It's michael close. Michael how are you today. I'm well thank you. Thank you very much for inviting me. What's your origin story. You have twenty four seconds. My home planet krypton was exploding and my father. Put me in a rocket and sent to cleveland. Ohio where i was raised by salmon marietta close and my dad was in industry. We moved around quite a bit ended up in fort wayne. Indiana which is in the northwest northeast. corner of the state of indiana there was a magic shop. they're owned by. Dick stoner who is still around in. An old friend bought my first tricks. They're probably when i was six years old and the bug bit and never really let go. I've yeah so it's about sixty two years now. I've been interested in magic people. Are i absolutely do There there were a couple of things there was a magic set called the sneaky. Pete magic set which i may gotten for my fifth birthday. I actually saw dick stone perform at my school. I think when i was five i still remember some of the tricks he did. He did hip hop rabbits. He did the ghost tube in that. Sneaky pete set and one of the things that was in there was the was it the trick of horace the old old creek where you sever the head of the horse with the and that was a little plastic version of that and then it's donors magic shop. I got the penny to dime with the little plastic block with the magnet inside that lives off his show coin and too little plastic. I don't know what you would call them. Columns that were attached to the bottom and a string went through and then you could slice through it and show that it was cut and then pull it back through again. Those were the first tricks that i own. And of course and of course aired nays. Because i want to seem like i was cool. Standard right verified bureau. Of course exactly right you know. Those were the those were the tricks. I'm going to use this podcast. A personal consultation. i'm sure there are many listens. They're in saint on forty. Nine between cup edgy. Since i was eleven. And i still haven't that stack an album and you're very well known for you. Men debt works helped me out two questions one. How should i choose which stack to learn and to what do you think in your experience. The best strategies. You've found the work best to actually memory. Well okay and we have a half an hour. I actually have done about of either forty-five minutes or an hour long targeted training video. That's on my website on this very subject. It's called demystifying the memorized deck. But i'll give you. I'll give you a very I'll give you a very short version. Which is your first step has to be to ask the question. How am i going to use this thing. Most people go memorize stack simply because everybody has memorizing stack. Now when i got interested in actually learning which was back in one thousand nine hundred ninety i had known of simon aaronson stack for quite a few years because he published it in the late seventies. I think and i knew exactly how i wanted to use the stack. I wanted to use it as an improvisational device to be able to sort of make up effects as i go i was influenced by that by burt. Allerton who had a trick in his book that used that and of course experiencing juan do his new monico sus improvised handling so i specifically knew how i wanted to use the stack and at the time the only stacks available really were one stack had not been published in english yet. I had simon stack. There was nicole. There was the ireland stack and i was good friends with simon by this point in time and so i learned that what now i learned to use the method he suggested which is a pneumonic method. One of course and people like what he aragon suggest every other way pneumonic and this is the third piece of advice. I would give you. Which is before you do anything you have to pay. Due diligence and due diligence in deck works and means buying at least choose me four books. Three or four books.

"Fund, but yet we sell the house ready, pretty good profit. We roll some of the money from the sell the house into the into the emergency fund in order to bring that up to date and then put the rest toward the house or how would you want us to go about doing that. I'm confused. Why would you come in short. Just because we need to save up for some other things. She needs a car before we move out of town. And just with the money we'd be putting in there, we'd come up maybe a little bit short before we want to move, but we do need to move. Well, you can do what you wanna do. I mean, you're grown up your loud too. There's no law on any of this, but. What I do. I think when you buy stuff that's not an emergency before you have an emergency fund, you are inviting Murphy to move in your spare bedroom. Okay. I think you're asking for trouble when I got an emergency fund in place. I quit having emergencies. It was the weirdest thing. But as long as I was broke, my life look like a country song and I think you're asking for it. So no, I don't think her buying buying her car is not an emergency, and so it does not supersede your your need for an emergency fund. Now, if you want to say three to six months of expenses as your emergency fund and you want to say, well, we're going to get to the three Mark, and then we're going to do some purchases and we may be it up a little bit more later, but we're comfortable with a three month of expenses emergency fund, at least until we get her a car or whatever. These other things are that you're wanting to do, that's fine. But bond her cars not emergency. Not. She's got a car. So that's how we know. We don't usually emergency fund for it. Mark is in Orlando, Florida. Hey, Mark, how're you doing? Good. You better than I deserve what's up. Okay. So my girlfriend have been together for about three years or very young and we would like to move on and move forward in our lives and get married, good together. Good. We don't know financially stable though, and we want to be smart about it and financially. Smart. How old are you? Twenty one. Okay. And what do you make. About thirty thirty five year and what's your career right now? I'm just a warehouse worker. Okay. So what's your plan. I sure I don't know if we should go and no. When your career plan. Oh, sorry. Pretend like some young man who's a sharp young guy who's working in a warehouse or Twenty-one just walked into your house and wanted to marry your daughter. Yeah. What would you tell him? I'd wanna know what his dad gum plan is. Right. Yes, sir. Gonna take care of this girl. I would love to take care of her. I can't. I know I'm giving you a hard time brother. Okay. If you'll, if you'll think about it that way, if forces you to think about your long term prospects, which is as her dad, that's what he'd be looking at. Right? He'd be saying, okay, guys, a sharp young dude. He not make anything right now. You work in the warehouse, but but he's got really got a really good career path. He's got a plan and it's going to work out. I mean, by the time he's thirty one. What are you going to be doing? You know? So I'm more concerned about that. I think you can make it on thirty five. Does she have a job. She's in school and doing a part time job at a restaurant. When did she graduate from school? She has about another year and a half to two years. Okay. And what would a her degree being she's teaching. Okay. And who's paying for her school? Right now, her and her parents. Okay. All right. Would they continue that and she could complete and be a teacher while you are married. To ask, but hopefully I would, yeah, I'm pretty cool with it. Okay, that's good. So you could go ahead and get married and you'd have her part time income and you're thirty five thousand dollar income..

"My husband and I have paid off ten thousand dollars in debt, and we have decided to, well, we decided to be wanted to take you. There wasn't a course offered in our area actually small town. And so we decided to rehearse and our first courses tonight. Thank you. We're excited. I was wondering if you have any last minute, where's done people? Like I said, have never taken a few and we're starting out by media course. We have a Ravin family signed up. Yeah, I'm really excited. So what why did eleven people sign up? But they knew you entrusted. You. Most of them. I know. And yes, I would say yes to that. And then there were a few grand crews. Some I advertise in over local churches and peoper and military schools. I'm going to guess and say the ones that know you signed up because of who you are as a person. And my best encouragement would just be that person because they already trust you. In other words, don't try to be something you're not. I don't think you're going to just in talking to you. I don't think you're that person. You don't need to act like your financial genius. You don't need to act like you have all the answers. You know, all you gotta do is be able to turn on the DVD player play me. Yep. About whatever lesson I'm yapping about that night and then put shares of circle and love people and be yourself. The other thing is always just talk about the times that you failed or that you were unsure or that you goofed whether it was ten years ago or ten minutes ago because that gives other people permission to not be perfect. And there seems to be. See this allusion with people that everyone else has got their money act together, but me, I'm the only do fus and it turns out we are all do. That makes sense. Really two of the primary barriers to people receiving financial teaching is guilt and shame. And if you can remove those by just that's what I tell my story all the time. You hear me tell it if you've been listening to podcasts that much many times, I've screwed up and you know, I went broke, I lost everything had to start over and all that. And that's where all this came from this passion for helping other people came from. And this idea that I hate debt. That's where it came from was I've got a PHD in d. u. m. b. and so what that does, it makes me approachable, right. And I'm not some guy drops his glasses on the end of his nose and looks down in the salvage. It looks down his nose at you. You know. Snobbish and I, you know, and that kind of stuff. It's just me. I'm just a guy and I'm just really good at this stuff, but I've been doing it for thirty years out to be good at it. And so you know, but when I started beans and so that that just be a back kind of person and just care about the people that they're if you look in their eyes and listen to them, and you know you're gonna be just fine, but because that's why they came anyway. 'cause you're a person they trusted and just beat the b, the person that caused them to come in the first place and you're gonna be fine. Don't try to know everything because you don't. That's okay. I definitely don't. I sit in front fifteen million people's on this radio show. I have to say, I don't know, because sometimes I don't know. And that's the only answer because it's the only truthful one anyway. And you know you can Google. It can Google it. Let's try together. I don't know, you know, but that's why I don't take a of tax questions because I'm not very good at taxes, that kind of stuff. So you just you don't have to be everything you just gotta be somebody cares. And if you're that, you're gonna be a great financial versus coordinator. Moral clash already. Got eleven people come in the classes. Pretty cool. Thank you. Thanks for leading. We really appreciate it. Don is with us in Tampa, Florida. Hey, Don. How're you. Hey, Dave, how you doing buddy better than I deserve what's up. Well, quick question for you. We're on baby stuff. Seven paid off our house in July and yeah, really excited about that.
