"Oh immaculate virgin, mother of the true God and mother of the church. You who revealed your clemency and your piety to all those who ask for your protection. Here the prayers that we address to you, with filial trust, and presented to your son Jesus, our soul redeemer. Mother of mercy, teacher of hidden and silent sacrifices to you. We dedicate on this day all our being and all our love. We also dedicate to you our life, our work, our joys, our infirmities, and our sorrows. Grant peace, justice and prosperity to our people. For we entrust to your care, all that we have, and all that we are. Our lady and mother. We wish to be entirely yours and to walk with you along the way of complete faithfulness to Jesus Christ, and his church. Hold us always in your loving hand. Virgin of Guadalupe, mother of the Americas, we pray to you for all the bishops. That they may lead the faithful along the pass of intense Christian life of love and humble service of God and souls. Gran to our homes the grace of loving and respecting life in its beginnings, with the same love which you conceived in your womb. The life of the son of God.

"Rafael Carl was a family member to her. McGill and hill police got arrow, whose serving 40 years for the D age murder that was her, she's a niece of him. So that's her uncle. Just really heavy, heavy tight into Juan Jose, Quintero paion, was extradited for drug trafficking charges. That was her uncle. She was actually married to two prior commanders of the two prior ex police commanders down there who were drug traffickers, both of them were killed by sicarios. So she had this whole history of just always being tied into a lot of the drug traffickers. And again, you were saying, you know, she was all over the media and stuff. So we indicted her. We indicted Mauricio was arrested in November 12th of 2002 in Bogotá. They actually spotted the Mexicans on surveillance. He fled back. So he got arrested in Bogotá, came to the U.S.. He pled guilty, eventually his brother was arrested at the same time as Sandra in the U.S., they both were brought here. They both played guilty, we did a really good job inditing that broker out of Kelly Columbia Ramon. He actually had all of his fingerprints and everything removed from the entire system and Columbia. And it was through cooperation of some of the people here. We found out he had his son baptized at a church in Cali Colombia. They went and met with a priest and they found the baptism records and we identified them through that. He had been working drugs since 84 in New York, worked with every major cartel player. You could imagine in Colombia. And in his mom's house, when he got extradited to U.S. was brought here and his mom's house, he had a three quarter inch floppy disk with the last 5 years of just millions of kilos of cocaine in every load he brokered. Everything laid out. And it was used by New York and Tampa and all kinds of other districts as evidence in their cases. It was incredible evidence. Yeah, later Valencia, he supplied the load. He was extradited, brought over he cooperated. His sister was actually the mayor of Zelda Columbia that was put in place by Diego Montoya. She flew to Miami to meet with us to try and help out later and his two brothers who were in Mexico that we also indicted. So we were meeting with her, some of the indicted targets I had before they got arrested. I had orders for their arrest in Mexico and Columbia. They were meeting me in Costa Rica with the attorneys trying to cooperate before they got arrested. So I was meeting a lot of these guys in Costa Rica before their arrest to see if they could kind of help themselves out. So there was a lot of indictments. A lot of diamonds. Everybody was caught and brought to the U.S. and pled guilty. Nobody ever went to trial. So all in all, it was just an amazing successful case. This case kept going after I was in Columbia. I went to Columbia because of the work I did in this case, I was traveling to Columbia probably every other month for about two years working with the agents down there, identifying these people working the case. And that really helped me get my position down there. So in 2000 7, I've got a position in cartagena. I did three years in car to hand on that. I want to focus off for four years where I really oversaw and ran our intercept programs on there. So, and that kind of got me into the career I've been now with really the technology, went back to Rhode Island university, got a master's in digital forensics and set myself up for retirement. Wow. And when you were in cartagena, with sherry foster there, binding cherry was there. Yep. We've been texting back and forth with while we've been on this podcast. Sherry needs a contact. Well, I need to tell her we're talking to you right now, but sure needs a contact for something she's working on. We said, hey, we'll get it to you. So I will tell her we were just on a call with she's a previous guest on game of crimes. Oh, really? Yeah, in fact, she's going to be in Orlando. Next week, we're so we're getting together for dinner with my wife and her. I'm not sure she'd bring a JP down with her or not. You remember Jesse, right? Oh yeah, a 100%. Yeah, I lived with them for three years. Wait a minute. Her JV. I believe he introduced chicken wings to cartagena, didn't he? Yeah, he did. He opened his own business there, yeah. Oh yeah. The question I have to ask everybody because I did some work on playing Columbia down in Bogotá and so the question I always have to ask everyone, did you go eat at Montserrat? Oh, of course. Everybody the game. I took them to Montserrat. Take them up to us. They Casa brava up on the overlook in the city. Great. Do you ever get there? Yeah, I mean, I did that after I left Columbia. I went back to Boston and then I finished in homestead Florida. I retired about four years ago, so and really got a chance to get into my second career, my passion, I've always loved computers, and now, and from what I hear, you kind of got a cyber background, but I left to go work for a forensic software company and landed the spot I'm in now with magnet forensics, which they're on a Waterloo Canada, and pretty much spend my time now managing a group. We deploy their Enterprise Products. But it's a great company because the owner was actually a cop up in one of the Canada who got medical problems, had to leave the police force for a while. And this was probably about 12, 13 years ago. And didn't like the products that were out there, and he decided he wanted to do a product that instead of basic it on the file systems to base it on actually artifacts. And develop this product started giving it away for free and now today we're at 500 employees on the Canadian stock market and probably one of the premier products out in the U.S. right now for computer forensics. So very cool. Very cool. But that's where I'm at now, so. Look at that. Start off as a little kid from a town where they only had one murder in 30 years, you go to Milwaukee. You run into you have run ins with Jeffrey Dahmer. Well, sort of, you know, and all that stuff, and then you end up with, you know, I mean, that is one of the largest seizures, obviously, still stands. I mean, anytime you can pull that much dope off, you know what? Again, we go back to it's not so much the dope that hurts them. It's the money. They've just lost potentially, you know, hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue. You want to hurt somebody, take away their money, take away their toys. I don't even mention, I mean a lot of people died in this case. Some of my indebted targets, I think it was later. It was Juan Diego, Mauricio lost two brothers in Columbia over this, got killed. One guy shot and survived. Mauricio when he was in Bogotá, I actually said I went down to the meters girlfriend while he was in prison in Bogotá, supposedly he wanted to provide some information to me. And when I met with her, she really didn't provide any information, but a couple of weeks after I left, she disappeared was never seen again, so there was a lot of people lost their lives over it. That's for sure. You know, as they say in Colombia, there's a saying down there, campaign. You go into the business. Not to go off on a tangent, but I'm going to for a second. That's the thing when we speak to young people, you know, you try to get to point across to them. This is not a glamorous lifestyle. There's nothing magnificent about it. There's two ways out. You can go to prison or you can die. You just don't do 20 years and decide you're going to retire. There's no retirement plan in the cartel. Right, exactly. Well, there is, but there's an expire plan, but there's no retirement plan. Yeah. That's a good way to put it. Oh, there was one indictment I didn't mention that the biggest guy hadn't done it in Mexico was this guy actually Julio Beltran terror, el cantante. So he was receiving his laws and he was receiving a lot of laws. He just lost a prior 20 ton load, but I had an indictment for him and a few weeks after the indictment. I got some pictures in there. He was shot up him and four federal police that were protecting him were shot up and killed. But it was a hit by El Chapo. And then in fact, when they just did El Chapo in New York, that was one of the one of the assassins that he was charged with or that they identified him with, but he had issues with the Sinaloa Cartel and that's all I never got this guy. It was a, as you know, it was a clear to rest by death. So cleared by exception, a filter, no longer available for court. And on the recidivism rate, doesn't it? Well, hey look, man, there's a ton of stuff we could probably go into, but keep trying to keep with our new format and stuff. Let's bring this to a close, but the first you hang on, don't go into her but first thing for us is us, this is us saluting you saying job well done anytime you take 9500 kilos

"We see that that has roots and scripture that seeds of it are there in the doctrine developed and that it was always there. So I do think that a lot of spirituality in a way of praying has come from operations. Obviously, because people I mean, I know personally for me, I find great comfort in the words that Mary said to Juan Diego, let your heart not be disturbed and might not hear your mother. So of course that's kind of informed some of my spirituality, but we don't base our beliefs about Mary that she is an intercessor of graces that she's queen that she's immaculate that she was a virgin. We don't bathe these things on the operations. We see them as further affirmation. But it's actually not necessary that Catholics have a devotion to any marrying apparitions or even think about them at all. Which I know is crazy if there's something Latinos here from Mexico hearing that because it's very much something that they're raised with and quite an obviously because if they think that Mary came to tell them, hey, you're important, the Mexican people. They're going to have a great boat to her, and they do. So that's one point is I don't think our theology is based on any of these operations. I think it's further affirmed by the operations and can help increase faith in the beliefs that the Catholic Church has about Mary. But they're not important. They're not like the most important thing in your faith. I actually was just listening to we were talking about that video by father Gregory pine. And a Protestant asked him and his Q&A, which he also was in quarantine had COVID at the time, but obviously thicker than me, because I'm totally fine and I was sick. And we were like, others take a break. Big coffee. I'm like, you guys take a break? But someone asked him and said, I'm looking into Catholicism and I'm thinking about potentially converting, but how do we know these operations really happened? And I just like, that's bizarre to me and he's like, don't let the biggest stumbling block to you because they're not the basis of the Catholic faith like these apparitions. They're really not. If you actually look at the theology, the Catholic Church, which is also something that doctor madam vina, which I think was probably the most important part of his response to that question, which I think was actually a helpful response was that our lady of Guadalupe, like believing it is not necessary to be a Catholic. It's not necessary. And as father Gregory said, what's important is that you believe in the Trinity. You believe in the incarnation and then everything else comes from that. So which is why we can have these conversations like debating whether or not God exists or whether or not we were laughing at the comment that someone put says there is no proof for Mary's conception. And what they meant was her immaculate inception. I was like, well, dang it. If married. Very significant ultrasound. Yeah. If Mary was a kid, then we're all kind of screwed because the basis of this story is that Jesus was born from a virgin mother named Mary and..

"Perfect virgin. Saint Mary of Guadalupe. Juan Diego was given garby ship of the image, which he placed in the new drawing. He lived nearby as a hermit and caretaker of the shrine until his death in 1548. News spread quickly about the miracle and within ten years, all 8 million native Mexicans were baptized and received into the church with on average equals 3000 people every day for ten years. A lady of Guadalupe became a symbol of Mexico and has galvanized and brought together people from all over the world to live and believe in her son. So that is the story of our lady of Guadalupe. And why the Mexican people love our lady of Guadalupe so much. And a part of how the Catholic Church looks to see if apparitions are true. Is one of the things is to look and see the fruits of the apparition and the reason that it is seen as true by the Catholic Church is because there were good fruits. So 8 million people leaving the Aztec religion and becoming Christians would be a reason to point to the validity of our lady of Guadalupe operation. And I think something else I really appreciated about doctor Amanda dino's talks and something that I never really thought about. And I think Megan also kind of touches on this was just how much this means to the Latino people and how the story shows our lady lifting up someone that was seen as a peasant and putting him on the same level as the bishop and kind of saying to all of her people and all of God's people, even today that if you're seen is not really worth much very small, if you're like an Asian immigrant and Mexico from Mexico in the United States, but you are still important and God still calls you by name and still gives you a specific role that you are called to fulfill. Really beautiful. And it also highlights a lot of the ways that God just often elevates the less than. We saw in the Bible, Moses, thinking he's not worth, you know, to go and talk to the pharaoh but this is his speech impediment and just thinking he's not worthy and very similar with Juan Diego. And so it's just a comfort for those that are poor. Those that are impoverished, those that even just us normal people who feel like we're not good enough, we all have doubts about ourselves or things that we're not made in the image of God and don't truly believe that. So I think that's something comforting to take from the story, especially for the Latino people, which is something that I had just never really thought about, not being Latino myself. But Megan, would you like to share what you appreciated first from the event? Yeah, I think I would just echo all of that..

"He avoided the tapioca hoping to slip past, which I think is hilarious because when my professor explained this to me back in college, he was like, Juan Diego was going to try to split past who he believed was the mother of God, which if it's someone coming to heaven, you can't really slip past them. It's not really gonna work. So the lady met him on the road at the foot of the hill. He told her about his uncle and she promised to attend to the request to take care of him. The lady assured him that she would see that his uncle is healed and sent him to the top of the hill to collect flowers. And this was in the middle of winter in December. So there should not have been flowers growing, but there were. And they were Spanish roses. He gathered as many flowers as he could have has little tilma and brought them back to our lady. She rearranged the flowers and bait him to go to the bishop and show no one but the venture himself. Upon arriving at the bishop's house, mon Diego was made to wait and wait. Some of the attendant for constantly badgering Wong Diego asking him to show them what was in his cloak. He opened his cloak and they ran to tell the pitch up. When the bishop arrived, he opened his toma and out tumbled red Spanish roses to his surprise, everyone in the room fell on their knees with the bishop begging forgiveness for doubting. Juan Diego looked at his toma and imprinted was the perfect likeness of our lady, which is the image that you see of our lady and what Catholics believe that is still the same exact helmet from 500 years ago is what is now in Mexico City. That you can go and visit, which hopefully one day I will. And bishop one after seeing that immediately began organizing for a shrine to be built on top of the tepia kill and Juan Diego returned home to discover his uncle alive and well..

"Hey guys, welcome back to let's talk about it. And I'm Megan. And today we're recording, it's weird, guys, 'cause I'm in quarantine. So I'm using my I haven't gotten a new laptop soon, I'm getting a new one soon. That old laptop and I'm sitting at home and I don't have a mic because everything is at Megan's house and I'm not allowed to go over there. So I'm really sorry for my sound quality for my appearance if you're watching this on video. Never apologize for your appearance. It's fine. I know. So anyway, that's what's been going on and why we haven't podcast episode out because first Megan had COVID earlier. We were going to record so many episodes in advance and then that just didn't happen. And then now we're behind and this is why you record in advance and have a bunch saved up. But we did not. So because of COVID, so this is what you all get. This is what you're going to get right now. Today, hopefully Meghan can make my sound sound better. I'll do my best. And if you're watching on YouTube, well, I will fix nothing's gonna fix this. But speaking of everyone, look at this. Look at this. If you're not just listening, she's pointing to Mary. So today we're talking about our lady. You've got a loop bag. Their hand, they've got a lupe. And I'm pointing to the candle in the back that is their hand. They got a little bit. So that's what we're talking about today. And today we're recording on the feast of Juan Diego. And if you're a Catholic, I'm assuming you probably know that one because Guadalupe is definitely the most well-known Marion operation because she's our lady of the Americas. She appeared in Mexico City. And yeah, I feel like at least most American Catholics know who she is, even if they don't know much about her. And then know that Juan Diego was the peasant man who she appeared to and had the toma. So that's days as feasting. And our lady of Guadalupe is on Sunday, which will probably release it then. I have told Megan, but she has to release it then. The editor. The editor. Good. Good to know. So this kind of we were inspired to do this specifically about this apparition of our lady because, well, because this week is like a whole bunch of feast days to do with our lady of Guadalupe. And then also because we went to an event recently. So we did together about our lady Guadalupe. And Megan, a caused a ruckus, she yelled through things at the end of the interrupted the entire thing and tried to sabotage..

"When she came to guadeloupe she came to a simple peasant. Juan diego and her message was so simple to juan diego. The message of guadeloupe. Don't you know i'm your mother. Whatever it is that you need come to me. That magnificent motherly love mary. The queen of earth. Mary the queen of heaven. No majesty sitting on on a on a royal throne whether were diadem kind of queen ship but the humble servant of nazareth the the loving tender mother mary. Her queen ship is her immaculate heart. Her queen ship is her universal. Motherhood her love for everyone that she is the queen of and also the queen the angels when gabriel came to her recognizing the message that he was bringing from god almighty father. Will you be the mother of my son or queen. Ship flows from her divine maternity. She is the mother of god. The first one who became her child was cheeses and she gave him to drink from her breast. She cared for him and saying to him. She held him near her immaculate heart. That seem tender. Mother came to guadeloupe. She came to fatima there at fatima in her magnificent queen ship. When we see the image of our lady of fatima. she has a crown. She is the most beautiful as the children's said that she came to fatima in portugal and she was teaching them her queen. Ship of purgatory. She took the children to purgatory and she taught them a prayer. Oh jesus forgive us our sins. Save us from the fires of hell lead all souls to heaven especially those most in need of your mercy and she showed how she does show the children how they could pray and release souls from purgatory and they were terribly frightened and she took those same little children notice whom she had a pension for children she took them to hell and showed them the horrors of what damnation would be like. Save us from the fires of bill lead all soul stevan especially those most in need of marcy when mary cain to lourdes 's she came to bernadette. She has a tenderness in the love. Are you sick. Are you suffering. When mary came to lord's when she left this magnificent pool of water and she is the refuge. "At Snowbird? Yes, we were last week. Did our show from there on Friday. And then we had a room for the weekend. But I wasn't going to stay Friday night because Festus and I had tickets to go see Stephen King. Yeah, he was out at Juan Diego. Yeah. So a couple months ago, Festus said Mom Stephen King is coming to town for a book reading. Really who's bringing him in the King's English bookstore, and I'm dumb and I went. Wow, It's really kind of a small place for well, that's when they said King's English would bring in a man I went. Are you sure you want to go somewhere bigger? And they did. There were, I think, 1300 people. And it sold out in a day. Well, yeah. Uh, So did you Catholics get first dibs on the tickets? Is that how that No, I just I was grateful for, uh Oh, come on. They sold them. They sold them at school did no, no. Was grateful, Festus the found it and said, I know you would like this Mom, let's let's go. And and so we got an email like the day of that said, You know the day before that said no sleeping out for a place in line. I'm like sleeping out for a place in line with the seats were not reserved. No Like who's going to defy all will be fine. And the day of Festus kept saying, Are we going to leave? We kind of got to go. We got to go get in line. I'm like it's Oh, wait. It's it's fine. It starts at seven doors open at six. Why do you? Why do you refuse to listen to almost everybody who has better judgment than you even your son? So we pull up to Juan Diego at at about a quarter to six. And it's to start at seven, but doors open at six. There is a line with 1300 people around the school and down and who is at the very end of it, Gina barberry as usual, So we pull up and and I can't find a parking spot. So I I dropped fast this off at the end of the line. I'm like here. You you wait here. I'll go find a place to park. So I drove down the entire length of the line found a place to park and I had to walk back. The opposite way through the line to get to the end. Pretty close to the front. This guy pops out and he says, Hey, Gina, friend of the program you want to What happened line here with me. You didn't and and I said, I said, Oh, it's that's nice if you guys and my my son's at the back of the line, but but thank you. Then, as I'm walking and walking and walking, and I'm like That from the lines looking better all the time. So I go back in and get fastest. Now. Fastest has found Todd Nuke, um and his wife in line. And I said, I said there's a friend of the program up here that says we can we can get in line, not Utah. No, no, no. And I offered it to Todd and Todd like No, that's okay. Well, no. Because Because we are responsible, ethical human beings. We will stay in the line where we were. So I grabbed Festus. I'm like, Let's go up to the front of the so I go up to the front of the line. And I can't find the guy. I'm walking back because the lion has moved and where I remembered him being always by that tree. Well, he's not by the tree anymore. I know where did he go? And so I'm sort of pacing back and forth in this general area looking for him, and I hear this voice and it's a woman's voice. She said. Gina, he said, Yeah, she said. Are you looking for a place in line and I said, Well, there was somebody here that said I could. I could come get in line with him. But now I can't find him And she's like you can get a live with. You know, everybody has Everybody has somebody that they can crowd with. It's called crowding. Gina. Hey, no crowding. And the people around you go if I had been a person, and I didn't know you Go. God, What real and if I did know you I'd go at our FH. Gina. Just cut in line I or and I'd also go. I'm not listening to that show ever again. I was invited, So thank you for putting a good face. On our show Remind you you wouldn't have done that you have would normally would have done would not? Yes, you are. If somebody said, Bill come, Mary, you would have I would have said thank you. But my son's back there in the line into place, and that's that's where we You're lying. I would have taken him up on it. Okay? No, I wouldn't. Go ahead. Prove that I would I just diagnosed. Oh, you so I know you would have, but I'm surprised you did because you I'm surprised you did it because, you know, it's unethical at a Catholic high school. My not only did you piss off the people in line, but Jesus is very, um No. Jesus was proud of my ingenuity and my oh, that's right. That's that's what criminals always tell themselves. So what? How was Stephen King? He was this is going to sound like a ridiculous thing to say. He's a great storyteller. It is it is, But what I mean is he could be a good writer and not be a good speaker. Those are two different. Different talents. He's a great speaker..
