"Thing that stood out to me as far as those awards are concerned. But they go gloves. Again, generally speaking, I think they get most of these right because we have we're so good now and being rooted in the data. But I'm hopelessly biased. JT Realmuto is the best catcher in the national league buster. Jacob stallings had a really nice year. I know his blocking numbers. I think specifically were extraordinary with his past all allowance. And that kind of stuff. But generally speaking for wars like these, I use a player's body of work to be able to sort of break ties because defense can be a little bit noisy year to year and obviously you're not watching them play defense the same way that you're watching them hit and evaluating them as such. And DT real much was the best arm in baseball. He prevents base runners from stealing better than anybody. His framing numbers are always fantastic. Baseball perspective had him third in blocking run. So across the board for my money, he's the best catcher in the national league and I'm sure I was happy for Jacob stallings. The pirates didn't have the chance to win too much this year. So that would say amongst all the words that I went through this morning. Those are the two that stood out. Surprised that Bryant snicker wasn't a finalist for that award. And surprised at JT real Muto did not win the gold glove on the national league. All right, hambo. Always great to talk with you. Later, boys. Get out. Bleacher tweets already buster, bleacher tweets, for a Tuesday, we got Andrew Campbell at real camp drew writing in, hey buster, is it possible that Nolan Arenado has a chance to either tie or surpass Brooks Robinson's gold glove total of 16, Nolan is 30 years old and only needs 7 more gold gloves to tie if he reached 16, would he retire as baseball's greatest defense of third baseman? Andrew, the, you know, I love you. But the word only needs 7 more. Only 7, 9. He is a long way away, and I would say this as we move forward. Brian Hayes is going to be a major factor because his defense is special. Also you wonder Matt Chapman with the Oakland seemingly ready to dumps salaries if they're going to move match Chapman. And if he goes the national league, that's going to change the context for sure. He would be a really nice fit for the mets, for example. Adam Smith is up next at Schmidt FIA writes in with posey's retirement. There's been a lot of chatter in TC markets about mauer's case for the hall. He had an incredible few years, but I don't know if he has longevity or numbers. What are your thoughts? Yep, Hall of Famer, lifetime three or 6 batting average, three batting titles, MVP in 2009, four top ten finishes MVP 6 time all star 2123 career hits, which is 623 more than buster. In his career, 921 games at catchers, 6 O three at first base, posey had more games at catcher in his career, 1093, 229 games at first, but Joe mauer and his time as they catch her was a difference maker. You know, the other day I was texting back and forth with Bruce bochy, and he talked about what an advantage it always was for the Giants that they had an elite offensive player at catcher and the same is true for the twins. Let's go to Brian at a player to be named later, Brian writes in love the show. Can we talk about unicorn Joey Gallo back to back gold glove winner elite feet per second rate and bottom 1% in strikeouts ever seen this combo before? No, not with somebody that big. Well, actually, you know, when Aaron judge is a little bit like that, you know, in terms of his athleticism, but I remember when Joey first came to the big leagues and you see this hulking guys huge. And I was talking with John Daniels, the general manager of the rangers, and he was talking about how like Joey's a much better athlete than anybody realized his boy was he right. Let's go to Don Irvine. What's up, Don? Don writes in, now that Kyle schwarber is a free agent, do you see him signing with an AL team to serve as a DH rather than the NL considering his defensive deficiencies and will he get a multiyear deal considering his 2021 season? Yep, he'll get a multiyear deal, I think there's going to be universal BH for 2022. So he'll consider offers from teams in both leagues. Mister jakey RS at mister JK RS writes in, now that the season is over, what's the feeling on the crackdown over foreign substances after all the grumbling? Do you think it had an impact on the game? Was there a big enough sample size? Yeah, I think there was. It was clear that there were pictures affected by it. You know, spin rates, you could tell that some pictures were affected by it. You know, we had Alex Avila on the podcast and he acknowledged and agreed with what I saw down the stretch that there were a lot of pictures who actually using foreign substances, good old fashioned bullfrog, that sort of thing. I think they found a middle ground. I really hope that they settle this issue because it really is unfair to all of them. As I said during the year when people would talk about someone like a Scherzer or Garrett Cole as a cheater, I'd be like, I mean, 90% of the pictures were using something. And I really would love to get past the conversation. Last one for today, Matt, but covered in confetti at kayaking Smith rates and there's been talk on the pod that Seattle, Texas and Miami may make some splashes this off season. But what teams would be should be worried about setting up to tank next year. I feel like the cubs, guardians nationals and reds are candidates. Congrats on the braves, World Series there mat hope you enjoyed your celebrations. Yeah, absolutely. Look, the guardians don't tank. When we talk about tanking and Taylor sorry to pick a scab for you, I mean, we look at what the Orioles have done a recent years. We looked at what the Astros did in the early 2010s. The last time the Indians lost a hundred games was 1991. The Indians excuse me, the guardians retooled. The athletics retooled. They don't tank. The Orioles, there's absolutely no sign that they're going to veer from their strategy, which means, I'd say right now, whatever the over under is in Vegas, if you want to retire, I think you bet the under on whatever Vegas comes up with your team, what do you think? Oh, yeah, empty account. Bet it all buster bet it all on that under. I'm gonna check that out after we're done. I'm sure it's not up yet, but the second it is, you know where you define me. So thanks for writing everyone. Hashtag bleacher tweets on Twitter. Again, we're gonna do another show. Next Friday, we had a great batch of tweets this week, so keep them coming throughout the week and please follow rate and review this podcast wherever you listen to your podcasts. And just to touch on a couple of other teams real quick, Luis Castillo and Sonny gray, two guys to watch for the reds, I'm curious to see if they trade them. If they do, then you wonder if they're going to be retooling. They have too many good position players to actually go into full on tank. And I think the what to watch for for the cubs, do they make a major expenditure? You know, it was a good sign that they're not tanking that they picked up wade Miley. Before we go, I just want to mention we got sad news yesterday, Pedro Feliciano, longtime left handed pitcher passed away at age 45 and his sleep at word of Perez colleague tweeted out that news, I didn't really know him that well, but everybody that did know him better than I just they were heartbroken yesterday. So our thoughts go out to the family of Pedro Feliciano. My thanks to date to Carl to hambo to Taylor have a great day to everybody. Thanks for listening. Stay safe and remember, Hayden inequality based on skin color is something we need to fight against every single day. Thanks for listening to the baseball tonight podcast. If you're.

"You know he. He's lucky or not lucky but the the opportunity that was given to him is very fortunate. You know he. He came into a situation where the the backup catcher was severely struggling and he came in and stole the show. It'd be interesting to see if they want to split the time you know i like. I said i think jansen will always catch. Were you might be the start. If it was me. I'd have him the starter and then if One hundred kirk ends up continuing to tear it up the niece with the time between them but overall i think dana jetsons a very good defensive. Catcher offense is unfortunately still struggling. But he's he's getting better whereas with all hendro kirke just tore it up completely. you know. he's not even a terrible catcher. He's just he's you know he's very good offensively so it's kind of like you have two different catchers that can do two different things so you know who knows. Maybe i remember. I think it was twenty sixteen. Where are a dickey was still with the blue jays and russell. Martin was not catching him anymore. He did it in two thousand fifteen but they didn't want. I'm doing the that year but some starts were dickey with starting they would have martin as the d. h. Just because he was he was doing so well. And i think it was august of that year. So you who knows. Maybe see something like that. You know if if danny janssen catching maybe kirk de aging. Although i will say that's probably a little bit unlikely just because the last thing you want is your your catcher as you're get injured and then you're in trouble. So that's probably unlikely. But it'll be jansen and kirk. Those two like i said there the best options for the blue jays and they're good options on objectively not subjectively the jews. They're good but in terms of just these are the options. I honestly feel confident in those two. And i think they'll do good job this year I left it open. I guess what the point i was getting at and you caught onto a two. Was the jt realmuto last week states than just i don't again we. We spoke vote. This we don't it's hard to say how interested they really are in him. And if they really need to upgrade at the catcher musician. So i'll say likely a leave. The door open a slight bit for that to happen. In after the mets decided i guess they chose james ken over. Jt it comes down to the blue jays. Al possibly jt going back to the phillies. I'm sure there's other teams that have emerged will merge that we just don't know too much about quite yet in terms of him returning or him signing elsewhere But for those reasons for the mets outbidding. Or sorry for the mets choosing james mccann. I think that leaves the door open a slight bit. But i wouldn't be in any urgent there were. There shouldn't be any urgency to swat. Sign him unless you're one hundred percent confident for those reasons that you have. Danny janssen who hundred likes to pitch to and you have alejandro kirk. Who in press when he debuted in september off the off with his bad and of course he was the aging playoff games and Yet i was talking about just those two catches on the opening day roster. I'm sure they you know who knows if they're going to do a taxi. Squad elected last year there. I guess that's possible Just we don't know the complete logistics seattle the twenty twenty one season but either way. If it's not if there's a taxi squad a won't it'll be somebody like you said of reese mcguire or somebody else like that. So that's the one thing and then the next one is diesel truck. Tanner roark is on the team past. I'll.

"Turner gear richards hand. Gto yudo they've all been connected to the blue jays names on this list Maybe not the most surprising but the biggest names. And i guess in the case of jt real museo. The most surprising name is jt. Romeo i i don't think anyone expected the blue jays to be pursuing a catcher this offseason. Of course we've seen them pursue infielders. We've seen them pursue outfielders. We've seen them pursue pitchers relievers and starters but we hadn't heard anything about their interest in catchers until this report and it kind of came out of the blue Saw let's start there. Jt romeo Obviously an all star Obviously I'd say the best catcher on the market The phillies are not expected to resign him. Because they have. I think it was a two billion dollar loss this year or something. Absurd like that So what do you think of this. Do you think the blue jays needed catcher. If they signed g to immuno what did they do with. Reese mcguire what do they do with danny johnson. What do they do with al hundred kirk. There's been some speculation that they would flip one of them for pitching or an outfielder. Maybe even francisco door if they got. Jt realmuto So yeah what are your thoughts about this because it caught me off guard. Yeah this one. This one's weird because the amount of depth that the jas having the jason one of the best depth in the league in terms of catching. It's been well recognized around the game. Like you said. There is recent wireless. Danny janssen is alejandro kirk. You know even in the binder exists in riley adams. Like there's just there's a lot of names here and you know you wonder if you bring in. Jt room utah. Like i don't see the obviously he would slide in right away. But where does that leave. Danny janssen where does that leave. Someone like alejandro kirk. Who impressed in a lot in that final month of the season. I'm not too worried about the reese. Mcguire part he'd just because he was already kind of removed from the roster of one at some point during the season. But you know those players in particular. Danny janssen an ala ala kirk. Just you wonder what like you wonder. Just what the future is in like. you said. Mark the only way this truly possible if this does happen is there must be some sort of plan in.

"By the way, part of the reason that the financial windows close was because of bad deals to weigh in Chen and Martin produ and other people in the bullpen. So wasn't the players that were traded. I mean, they were gonna make more money, but it's because bad money was tied up two other players. Just remember one thing at the time. They weren't bad money say what you want we signed way inch and to be the number two behind Jose Fernandez as a one two punch that would complement the outfield to take us to the play offs and possibly then a World Series it if we knew that he would end up stinking in the first two years. We've course you wouldn't have side, but weren't you bidding against yourself. Listen when Scott pours gets involved, and he deals with Jeffrey alone. All all Wiki got. We wanted Jen. But we wanted him for two years three years, maybe maybe a fourth year. And all all boys was able to do was get up to sixteen million a year. And up to a fifth year. But we all agreed that having way in on the team as number two or a number three was smart and good free agent signing that's a legitimate signing that the Marlins made. Of course, you criticize now 'cause he sucks, but at the time, it was a great idea. I feel like we've been doing a version of this show anytime someone gets traded for ten years. It's excellent radio. But we have savagely beaten David Samson for something that he's no longer responsible for regardless. What's the movie, but he is though David Samson, David Samson and Laurie ran this team for sixteen of the twenty five years at it's been existence. So part of the problem with the fan base, and the moorlands is David Sampson and Loria he's not running the team anymore, but the bad feelings exist because of how they ran the team. These are fans there people they're emotional. They're not robots. So you can say this doesn't work moneywise or whatever it is that you want, but people have felt betrayed by them for years. And that's carried it, by the way. The top betrayal of all time. If you're talking about it, we came in after high zinc and Henry, so we did not write the book on betray a we just wrote the next chapter. That's true. Yeah. But you added chapters to that book you guys had chances to fix bronner's plural down guys. Look, you guys wrote a sequel like that I was successful. But you guys came in and wrote a sequel that was almost as good as the firm kept her booting, the frame, just called betrayal. It's bigger than fast and furious. No. And this latest one while it is a different organization and while it's a different ownership group. Like, you set them up to be in that position to do this again. So can get off scot-free year blaming me for their decision to trade Stanton. Yellows an Gordon and j p rail modo that farm says that is a great compliment. Thank you that farm system was bear. When jeeter got there because by the way, who cares about embar system. We wanted. We wanted to win at the major league level. I won't apologize for trading away players to try to get better at the big league level. But that's not a. Sustainable plan for success. You have to have a farm system. If you wanna have a dynasty if you wanna have a team. That's good. The more than giant the the Marlins not they way you guys ran a team. Now, there's very few teams or capable of having a dynasty, maybe Yankees. Maybe dodgers, maybe Red Sox. No other team every other team operates with windows, and you try to make you windows long as possible at the big league level. I don't care. If Jacksonville loses one hundred fifty games, we had airplane windows. We've got hold on..

"Franchise should just start over and over and over yellowish was under club control for five more years when he was traded Gordon for four stint for at least three ozone Zuma for two real mutual for two. It's an astounding lack of imagination that can consider any way out. Of that scenario other than a tear down. You got anything for me? Yeah. You asking me. I so we kept. And I I'm going to defend one thing that I did that you attack, and you don't do it with any factual basis we had a team that was together longer after three. Then the championship teams before when you looked one two three years down the line. We started making those changes for the sixties, and that's three years later. Then in those six we kept Uggla and Ramirez and all those guys for a five to six year run up, and then we stopped it in twelve. Now, this twit two thousand twelve run was another five six year run before jeeter twit before those guys in anybody. Listen, I would love to tell you that Derek Jeters wrong here, believe me more than you'll ever know. But he had no choice then that window with STAN yellow chose that window was gone. He's trying to start a new window. That's the reality of running eight low revenue team that was low revenue under high. Inga under Henry under Loria and under jeeter. It's not supposed to be low revenue with the stadium, though, David you've kept all those guys for longer than you expect to and gave the contracts to Castillo and low emotionally because you knew you couldn't do it again, tearing down something and then asking for a new stadium. Wet wet wet whatever my motivation was however self-serving it was does not change the reality of what the market can afford them. What it cannot afford? I'm actually going to do something. I'm actually going to defend David. I was really happy with generally their approach post championship. And they kept that team. And they actually got kind of close in the added pieces of super excited about that lo Duca trade the Carlos ogodo trade actually worked out for this team. So I think they did. Right. And they probably pull the plug history. We'll we'll say at the right time. But you mentioned that the window had closed on yelich Stanton Osuna. And is that just the financials dictating that? Yeah. Because the Stanton deal, I guess because if you kept that team together all you need to do is at an armor to and that's probably the best team in the division. Yeah. It was a financial wind up. I mean, when you when you look at the, you know, you never believe no one ever believed how much money the Marlins lost. But the number speaks themselves came in. Now granted they had they. They paid a lot for the franchise, but they couldn't operate it losing money the way it was. So they had to change it. Can it be told now in your opinion, David Sampson is someone who was involved in all of these situations and has a contract that now excuses him from from being critical of the Marlins? Can you tell us what you believe Derek jeeter overpaid for that team by like like now, I know you're going to say it's worth whatever it is the jeeter made it worth. But what I'm saying is like what jeeter hate you. Why? Gainer hates me because in his opinion. He overpaid by four hundred million dollars. Because there was no one else who is bidding what he was bidding bet. His opinion of why he hates me. He didn't overpay for four hundred million. It's that let smoke out that Sherman guy again down Bruce Sherman. He's hiding under a pile of money. How do you get let him get away with that? I mean, the principal owner of a local team of any team. Can you imagine an owner of a sports team? Who absolutely is not available ever. It's it's only because his headquarters are in British Columbia was that where it well. Mark island on sorry. Whatever got British right. What is one dollar fine? Okay. One dollar fine..

"That's outstanding journalism. Thank you for reading that on the air. That was very good radio. But you just need to back off. The Marlins are worse than anybody ever at this. Yeah. Catch him anymore. I I'm I'm totally fine. I'm saying what Derek has traded. I guess four or five of those guys. So I'm I'm responsible. I'm just like the rays bent, close to the Diamondbacks. Every trade tells us story, but these Twenty-three trades together till three bigger stories. That's the first one. The Marlins are weird all the time and their own way. They're the most stable franchise in baseball because they're weirdness is a permanent state each of these trades on its own could be justified for baseball or financial reasons. But none of these trades any longer stands on its own. They're all part of the ongoing story of the Marlins, whoever owns them. Whoever runs them becomes by definition, Florida, man. That's a great point. So the question that that is facing baseball right now is Florida possible. Can they do to major league teams or even one major league team? That's an issue. We have to think about as a market for our home community. Then maybe sports just isn't as good here as we all wish it were who wrote that. Again. I know you mentioned it. But that's really well. Rick miller. Yes. Those are five different executives Sampson bind fist Loria Michael hill. Derek jeeter representing two different ownership groups, but telling the same story no longer there's not enough money here. But rather the players are not good enough here. One way to get better players is to help the players you have get better. That's what the big organization of coaches and analysts nutritionists, physical trainers and front office executives are theater, theoretically. Therefore, they're part of this big collaborative effort to help players. Get better hundreds of major league leaguers overperform expectations every year an optimistic view of baseball says that more than that's more than enough reason for hope this is not the story about baseball. The Marlins have told over the past decade their vision of baseball has been the guys they hired a bad in the.

"You need, basically our map. Always was you need about twelve prospects to get one player twelve good pitching prospects to get one good pitcher. So you're just in. It's a game of numbers because half of them are going to get hurt half of them are going to suck. And so you just get as many as you can. And one of them that you hope is going to be good. So for all these traits. The Marlins have done if they get one or two frontline players from all of these guys they traded. They will have done. Okay. That was not an opinion, by the way, that was a mathematical fact, the Marlins twelve prospects for everyone pitcher, unfortunately, the rest of baseball too but four or five so you can it's it's not though. I mean, you think that I mean, you just you have this bias against the Marlins, and by the way now that I'm not there only if I was earned David unto earned by us against them that you guys earned it again. And again, nobody's ever earned anything the way the Marlins have earned that nobody I'd like you to just look at other teams, and how many of their top twenty five war or people are not on the team or didn't get the free agency or just make sure you have competitors. Let me read for while. Then hold on a second of the Marlins all time top twenty five players by war. Real mutual ranked sixteenth Twenty-three of now been traded away rather than held onto until they reach free agency. The other two truly are the exceptions that prove the rule AJ Burnett and the Marlins hated each other by the end, but Burnett made it to free. Agency because the much discussed deal to send him to Baltimore hit a snag when the Marlins kept trying to throw more of their players in the slop the other Jose Fernandez died in a boat crack before reaching for agency. The Marlins had tried to trade him to according to former team president, David Samson. It was the other team Sampson. Claim recently that stopped the deal. This is not normal the Rockies who debuted as a franchise at the same year. The Marlins did have held onto nine of their all time twenty-five through free agency or retirement and an additional four of those twenty five or still on their roster. The expansion Diamondbacks traded only fourteen of their all time twenty twenty-five. And even the notoriously proactive rays of kept seven of their all time top twenty five through free agency. The Marlins are genuinely weird they trade everybody. Faced all he had to do was keep reading. I love it..

"And we will talk movies with him in a second. But JT real Mutoko led all catchers in war over the past two seasons. He has the fastest pop time of any catcher he runs faster than any other catcher. And he hits like a right fielder. You wouldn't have known. It was happening right away. But by September two thousand sixteen you'd have been convince. What he was legit. He was making the major league minimum and had more than four years until his free agency of the Marlins all time twenty-five players by war. Real mutual ranked sixteenth twenty three have now been traded away rather than held onto until they reached free agency. Good God, man, like honest to God, and is one of those twenty five Jose Fernandez like they've they've kept as many of died is that right? Is that accurate anyway, David Sampson with us? Your reaction was what to J J T real mutual being traded. We knew he was going to be traded. He was unhappy. Here they deserve. He deserves a better place to play then the miss dumpster. But what did you think about what they got in return? Well, I my reaction was finally because they've been trying to trade them a whole off season. And they were tried to wait for a good package better package the best package, and if the pitcher they got I wanna call them six dollars, Scott. No, no because that brings back my old days, but they got a potential number one starter the problem with all these prospect traits, as you know, as you can't grade them for a couple of years, the other pieces will store and the and the catcher is just going to be there starter that are fine. But the real centerpiece was this prospect pitcher Sixto so from my perspective, they had a trade him. It had nothing to do. Dan with him not wanted to be here at nothing to do with his war that had to do with. He was the only valuable piece left to try to what der it's trying to do is rebuild the system in his mind thinking that a better farm system will somehow make the Marlins winters at some points on the field. And he may or may not be right? Isn't the pitching prospect even more of an injury risk in the average power pitching injury risk? No. You need.

He's got another trade coaches. He's got James is three topics. The these are in trades. Okay. All right. I like Brian. Let's go ahead. James you're on the air. All right. Yeah. I got three topics so topic. I tell me I or topic. I I. Roy you do the honors. I I know ROY does that. I all right. Good. All right. So this is a pet peeve. It's a it's a bathroom related team. And I wanted to CVS had any other bathroom related pet peeves? But when you're taking poop and you're on an automatic toilet. And you accidentally like shifts and a certain way, and if you don't fly ship. Yes, sorry shifts and the toilet flushes before you're ready. I hate that. And that's you know, you get water sprang up underneath you. It's terrible. I hate it too. That's a pet peeve show. Would I all right? We go now to I. Okay. So I went to Walgreens yesterday, and I had to get Nyquil and the Nyquil buy one get one fifty percent off. So I'm like, well, I wanna get to. But I we use Nyquil Allott. So I was just wondering what you guys were done that situation with you've gotten to just void judgment from the cashier. Yeah. But I was going to microwave something this morning, and you'll have says like you can make way for one to two minutes. I just wanted to get your thoughts. Do you do you don't for one? Or do you go for two minutes or you split it down the middle and do like a minute and a half. I go one minute. And then I'll. Yes. Put my finger in it give it a field. I don't like to over microwave things I'd like to over nuke things because I like my food piping hot as one to two minutes. I'm going to minutes. It's open. Open door Roy's pack here ROY put stuff. Listen, it was a poor choice of words for phrasing. But I meant rep in because there are several big words coming up in this last story. Don't strap anything. With our show with stugatz on the ticket stupidity. The number one podcast in the nation in the sports and recreation category, not the exact the same fanfare. Not exactly being no bra right now. So soon God's army. Go ahead. Subscribe rate and review. Okay. The it took a while. I guess every listener in their cars was processing you're amazing segment that you already done before which is cross-border trades. But we finally got two calls of people with cross-border trades, essentially, the idea if you weren't listening before good on you, you're very lucky, but Chris had this idea. Again, the great idea where you lump all of your towns teams together, and you could trade essentially, Gordon drug for the example, Wiki Bill into his Nick foles who says, no, okay. So that's the concept. And now we go out to the phones to see if this the segment has any legs. And we don't feel good about it. So we go out to Jimmy Jimmy, go ahead. You got to trade for us. Yes, I'm from Los Angeles. And I know the Rams were just in the Super Bowl. But LA's already always been Lakers town, first and foremost, so Los Angeles traits Aaron Donaldson New Orleans for Anthony Davis who says no. That's a great. But I found because Jimmy I just found a loophole in all of this. It's unfair. Elliot's got two football teams. Yeah. That's true. I mean, New York has two football teams and basketball teams with Brooklyn because he got a lump in Brooklyn. I got to. Baseball teams, this is unfair. There would have to just be a GM. That's not like committed to one team. Because obviously the GM of the Rams is not gonna want to do that. Because how does that benefit him to like the mayor, right? The mayor of a town needs to be the GM and it sorry Rams. You guys had a run. But it's for the betterment of the city. We're going to bring an Anthony Davis helped the Lakers out. You guys will still be good. You've got a good offense. You election so much more fun because I feel obscene now running for mayor of Chicago. Yeah. You have all the GM's in a may oral Riley mayor of Miami Riley, mayor of Miami. Is that is that we want to trust that we want to trust them. Apparently, you know, I mean don't be afraid to make trade with somebody. That's not a former player. I'm so I'm so down on this, man. I'm so, but they did they listen to me for that. I thank you, Pat Riley because I- tempered expectations, and I said, I'm giving up on the dream of flipping Tyler Johnson's contract for anybody. Good just swap crap for crap. And you did that Pat Riley. We got Ryan Anderson, and I got a reason to tune in to see if you actually play him. Although I think you might because Kelly Lennox minutes restrictions because we want to get onto that luxury tax. We go out to Sean who's got another trade. Guys, another depress Lakers fan tier after yesterday lay said like college said earlier it is Lakers town at the end of the day. I grouped in Anaheim with Los Angeles as well. Just 'cause you know, sometimes they call they'll call it LA. Rule it applies approved. Okay. So I'm going up board here. I'm doing Mike trout. There's no Fort Lauderdale Markey's the forty second ranked player he might be pretty comparable to JT because JT might have been in the top might JT might be spending sixty Markov flare isn't poor 'cause hold like reputation is that he's the best two way player in the NHL. Yes. Absolutely. "We criticised like you can you can't blame Mickey for wanting to be under that tax. We snow. You can blame the heat for having. If you look at NBA salaries for a prior to that trade we were at the top. We were number one. We were number of money spent on player contracts, and the what was at the end of that rainbow was a team that was what two games under five hundred. Now, I mean, what did the sons benefit from taking that Tyler Johnson contract? Was that literally just James Jones James Jones he'd life her? Like, why would he get? He wanted like helped like why would he want to help the heat to his like is? I mean Tyler Johnson going to be like a main player for that. I don't know in Tyler Johnson got had a trade escalator which was a bit of a poison pill in that deal too. So Tyler Johnson the paid even more money now than if he were just to stay down here. But solid deal for the Miami Heat does provide them a little bit more flexibility one thing I was looking through Anderson's contract. And the guarantee he's got a twenty one million dollar deal or close to that. But if he's waived before July, ninth he greed to a partial guaranteed to get moved to Phoenix fifteen six. Yeah. So I mean that has value in a two I don't know if they trade it. Or if they just eat it and limit the actual cap it because Tyler would have been nineteen million next year. So that's like a three and a half, man. Save right. Yeah. And they got it's it's a bummer to see Wayne Ellington, go. I know that he wasn't part of the rotation as much this year. He was such a fan favourite last year. He hit a Jillian three pointers. He you could not leave him open. He was the man with the golden arm, and I'm gonna miss. Well, that was just as nickname that. It's almost like Eric while I was trying to do that. But subtly can we talk about Christmas thing that he came up with before the show that he's already come up with the forty forgot he came up with the beta? What is it? All right. I think that we should banned all markets together as one sports team like down here. We've got the heat the Panthers the dolphins the Marlins trades should be able to go through different sports like we should be. We should have been able to trade Goren drug each for Nick foles. You've absolutely have come before. This is absolutely something you've done be on air. Maybe I don't know. This has been something that you've done on. That would be fun. Imagine it whoever needs six four five six three. So most trades stupid who has the most trade value of our team. And by our team. I mean now Florida I think we just traded the guy JT, I think barky I think JT because he that position is such a premium itself, Florida, that's brower thing. Right. Like, that's what you say. If you live in Broward, you say south Florida like trick. People think Miami Tri county known for Miami says south Florida tonight. I gotta do. I don't I don't ignore the Sam for Miami. I do. Well, I'm not from Miami. Yeah. Like, you're right. They're like when you're out like, let's say, you're in New York and people are like where are you from? What's the first thing? You saw me say Miami say, south Florida. And then if they get more Hansie with it, I say, I say like just out of jail. Suburb before Lauderdale Miami fort Lauder, greater Miami, Fort Lauderdale. I mean, you guys could just go Miami. You don't really you live. You live. Somebody say Kay town chemical the fullest all day every day, not as many people. I always thought four Lauderdale's like some people you go places in Fort Lauderdale, really famous city. I know that's what I thought. I'm telling you. I've gone been on cruises. And I'm like four Lauderdale, and they're like, I'm like, Miami, probably on a cruise at left out of Fort Lauderdale, when they ask you where for a lot of it was I mean, I'm telling you, I'm telling you people not everyone so JT are we in agreement that JT previously had the most trade value..

"They got Sandakan Tara back in that trade, and he's probably going to be we'll know he will be in our rotation next year. And he's a young ace pitcher. So we'll see I mean, it's thinks I'm torn because I'm like holding out hope, and I'm going to not judge these moves because you won't know for a couple of years, but obviously it stinks. I mean, look at our lineup from two thousand seventeen or opening day lineup. Nobody like that hitting lineup that everyone was like this is a good line. Yup. Nobody's on. And it's not like they were going to spend like they had people locked in on value contracts. Right. And they were young guys. So I just don't understand why they did that they were honestly just a couple of pitchers away from being one of the best teams in major league baseball. I truly it was stand contract. It was the stand contract. I feel like that made. The jeeter crews be like we are spending way too much money, and we needed to start over because they had no farm system. Like, you can't just go out and keep spending after you give Stanton that contract. If you have no farm system to just go out and pay a couple of pitchers. That's just not a long term plan. I think it was a chant contract to be honest with you and understanding that because Chen was such a waste of money and he's still on the team, and he's a waste of money going forward at sounds harsh. But it's the truth. The guy hasn't really produced anything, and he's costing us twenty plus million dollars a year. And he's not even starting every game. And when he does start he does okay at home on the road. He's a mess, and you can't when you have that much money tied into one pitcher that's not producing it doesn't make sense to throw money in other directions. One thing that I noticed in this deal is I got more international allocation money, which seems to be a new strategy of the Marlins. That's how they got Victor. Right. I guess that's how they're going to bolster their their minor league prospects as well. That's a way that you could actually do that without making trades. They spent so much on the Victor victor's. I think they spent all the money that they had on the two on Victor, Victor and his brother, and he just acquired a quarter million in this deal. Yeah, I need to look into that. Because I'm not a hundred percent. Sure exactly how that works. But I think there are restrictions like year to year on how much you can spend. So the fact that they spent all their money last year. I think puts them in a worse position next year, but they've acquired money which will help them out. So I is that role in place it just prevent like the Yankees from getting everybody. I guess. I mean, everyone has the same amount of money when you start. So it's not like the Yankees can go, and they can say like I'm going to give this person the international money is different from like if you wanna get players from Japan, or whatever that's not international money. I don't believe that's more for like people that are not drafted, and it's like international signings that I do not believe is Japan, but it could be wrong. So Gordon Ragas name was bandied about yesterday during the trade deadline, Utah seems like a pretty obvious fit for him didn't end up happening. It was going to be for Rubio. Right. That would have been actually pretty cool. I would've liked Ricky Rubio down here. I just saw his name Benito about the move that they made with Tyler Johnson and Wayne Ellington going and Ryan Anderson coming does give them a little bit more flexibility. But it seems as though to me he cultures more about getting under the luxury tax and actually competing for championships lately. Because if that's he culture, then we can give that a certify -able success story. And all they have to do is. Played Kelly Olympic less. So he doesn't get an escalator. So it'll be interesting to see how they go about this. It can also do some other creative things. I'm sure but to get under that luxury tax line you have to sort of limit the amount of minutes. Kelly Olympic makes because there's an escalator. Two thousand hundred what what would make more sense seventeen something seventy. Yeah..

"He's got apparently one of the best arms of any catching like even in the pros or minor leagues. Like this. His arm is top notch. But apparently defense not great blocking balls framing not a string catching catching. He's great at right? He's got a Cheech though. I mean, it'd be a starter is like when your laptop and our depth jet. So he'll be our start of the starter or it. So you already got he's got a starting catcher return. Yeah. You need. Not going to start. I didn't know because I just assumed it was all prospect. I would imagine that the pitching prospects. Sixto Sanchez who's our number one prospect all of a sudden, I don't think he'll start in the majors. Right. What do you think? No. I don't know. He was able last year. I'm looking at this Phillies Rosser right now, they got Hoskins and other guy GT going to have a bunch of names that you probably don't know. I know obviously, no mccutchen to Gora. Hoskins and JT Margaret Machado. Harper Machado is they're starting staff. Good enough because Nola is area to still good. Not really right Vince Vasquez. I don't know if they're they got to do something for this pitching staff. No. I mean, they're gone a lot better. A couple years ago, the Phillies were goof. Yeah. Once Hoskins came up. Yeah. Absolute beast, right? It's a beast. Everyone learned about him at the home run derby, inches and bad. He's okay. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Well, those good last year. Yeah. I mean, they had like a lot of people don't know. But they're sneaky good these Phillies team. They absolutely have let Billy like overall. Like this. I judging by your vibe, you seem okay with this deal. Which is hasn't been the case for many of these traits. I mean because it doesn't really matter if you've had this mission. No, I look they're not going to compete, right? They already tore down the team they traded away Stanton yellows Oona. Now, they traded away JT, but like JT on this team. They have them for two years and they're not going to compete with him. So why not get rid of him and try to improve down the road like, but at what point does that end? Because it seems as though it's a cycle. Like, oh, we're not good enough. So we might as well, they're not going to be good enough us closer to good. Well, because they're not going to be good enough in two years for sure they not built for two years from now. And they're gonna lose him in two years, and he doesn't seem to want to be here. So you gotta go. I mean, if you can improve by getting what difference does it make if they win sixty five games. With J T Rome Utah or if they win sixty three games without him. You know what I mean? Whatever the number is it doesn't make a difference. If you can get your number one prospect back in trade for him. Why not do it the overall sentiment? And I don't know anything about major league baseball prospects. Is that I mean, historically, the Marlins have kind of whiffed on the prospect holes that they have gotten before and the reaction this one is generally positive, the reaction is generally positive. I think the consensus that they got the most back for this trade that they did for any of the deals. I mean, I think the Zuma one right would be the second best on now on that list. We got a good pitcher the con-. Yeah..

"Yeah. We have a good time here. Three AM seemingly that is nuke. Right. That's the hall of fame. Chris Carter Jenna Wolfe. We've got a great show for you. Today. I'm wearing pants that patriots celebrated in the streets of Boston. The Sixers pulled off a big trade in the middle of the night. Middle East guys are also wearing pants so we will start with the Lakers Donald play. Like, they was wearing pants last night not gym shorts. Ma Lewis got Molly walked as Nick likes to say. Losing by forty two points to the Pacers last night. It was LeBron worse loss in his sixteen year career and it now drops the Lakers two twenty seven and twenty seven on the season. What about the trade? Well, let's talk about those trade. Rumors Lakers are reportedly waiting on a counter offer from the pelicans for Anthony Davis as talks have seemingly gone cold. Lebron was asked if all the trade talk is now affecting the way team is playing on the court. Obviously, we we we have a lot of guys it's been in trade talks the last couple of weeks has never been in that position before. So you have to act sales guys and how they're dealing with it. I don't. I can't really actually I've never been a part of that. But I've been a part of teammates, you know. But. I know it has to be tough on a lot of our guys special or young guys, you know, right now, they just never been a part of it, and you know, in a in every single day, and I noted. Worst thing that you can do right now being social media. And I know all young guys love social media. So you know, that definitely can't help. Now knows more about social media. Then that Nick, let's talk about it last night's loss show, you that maybe the trade. Rumors are starting to affect the Lakers, especially what you saw on the court. I mean, there's no other way way to read into it, and LeBron's right? Lebron has no idea what this is like LeBron's never been the subject of trade. Rumors. The only trade that ever we found out after the fact he was rumored in was the Lakers years ago, offering Koby for a very young LeBron after shack left the Lakers and the Cavs dismissed it since then he's had no trade clause in his contract. He doesn't know what it's like to be on the trading block. But I would ask the audience it remember one year ago this week because it's very instructive. There were trade. Rumors swirling around the entire Cleveland. Avellino team. And what did they do that week on February third of twenty eight teen they lost to the rockets at home by thirty two points. Lebron had eleven points in that game. The very next game. They played they played Orlando a bad magic team. They were up sixteen at the half. They lost the second half by thirty four points in route to getting blown out those guys that new they might be traded knew they could be on their way out stopped committing defensively. As is understandable. You want me to sacrifice for who for what for a team that's going to be my ex team. And the team was falling apart. The Cavs found out the day before the trade deadline one year ago today that they were the trades were happening. That's the game. Lebron had the block on one end the game went on the other into the timber wolves the next day. They remade the Cavs. When on the run they went on. But this is not shocking that they played this poorly. What it did though was it made making some? Type of move and on talking sweet Mikhail Luke for Reggie Bullock, which happened in the middle of the night. Some major move all the more of an assessing for the Lakers because these guys while they might play better. Once the trade deadline has passed..
