"If you always assume that you're wrong even with all your experience and everything you know you will never be wrong. That's like very weird because you'll figure what's right as you don't know what's right days. It changes all the time. It's contextual and most importantly. It's the people that you work with. They always change your replace a team member. You have a new team on these. Someone joins you have a whole new team. So how do you stick to those principles. And how do you promote those healthy principles that everybody respects abides by and in the magic happens and i think you capturing the little bit of magic with your friends right as used to work with and you became so much more than co workers. That's that's amazing. Yes certainly and i think that certainly the difficult problem way technologists and so we often get you know lewd by the technology. Your joy of discovering the macintosh and all that kind of stuff but the hard parts are no fright but it is true that the han parts of the people pots. It's not that continuous delivery or it's practice particularly difficult. In fact i would argue the reverse. I would argue that. One of the lewis of this way of working is that. He's a much simpler way of working. But you have to put some working and you have to think about things differently and you have to discard some of the the baggage from previous rise of thinking about things and that a so incredibly difficult for people and organizations to do that these days on a decent living helping people to try and make that change but it's incredibly difficult and one of my proudest boasts is the in the organization the legislation we don't the exchange it it was an organization called l. Max still exists still riding still running these exchanges around the world built on our technology and the culture is still fantastic funnily enough by so job advert for developers for olmecs. Press events is today. And i was reading back to always smiling to myself because i probably could have written. That jove adver seven years ago when our left because you know the colt chase still. The behavior is still and that continued so we started something that the group of people that were there at the beginning. That's the endurable in that organization. We established i development. Coach that has not only lasted but as being communicated to subsequent will generation of developing and other people with unionized environment. Which i think he's fantastic. I'm incredibly proud of that. It is difficult to get people thinking differently to change their minds to jump the the road. Severe old habits and jumping to a new of thinking things which is these days is a law of the same that get pleasure from his trying to help. People just think about ideas differently. So would you say that. The people influence these practices and the people contribute to how these practices work or is the inverse true where the practices influence the people to behave in a certain way and then sustain these practices long-term. I think it's both. I think it's a combination. I think it's a little bit to try. So we've always said things like it takes grace after asian a great tournament teams and that's true unique good people but it's not enough. I've worked with so genuinely brilliant developers building bad software. And that's not their fault. A bad process will break good people every time. And so there's more to it than not only that these gang. He's he's one of those things. While i refer back to silence quite so frequently often develop because development teams and organizations disdainful of process because they assume that software is a hurok exercise. Carry by geniuses. Toiling against the code minting. But you could sign the same kind of thing about science. Sciences terrific endeavor. A human activity carried by fallible mistaken human beings butts by organizing their thinking in a certain way they eliminate whole classes of errors and biases that are built into us threat biology and if he wants to do engineering which i would cans as an application so practical science to practical and these the white is in engineering if you wanna do engineering of that full which has come to think of what we do as when we do stuff. I'm talking about then. If you wanna do that they even have a have come. You're to improve your chances. It's no guarantee it's not going to make a bad development team. Great it's not gonna make a bad development team build world class software but it's going to improve. The quality of their work is going to amplify their talents skills to an extent that i can do better than they would do with anti and that's true of will class developers to one silly example one of my good friends who were two elements we have. He was the cto. I was studying. He's martin thompson. And i regard marching as at least one of the best. Probably the best program i've ever met. He's genuinely brilliant. Really really talented guy. And i've known him for a long time. I've known him for many years. We first met in the nineties and is younger than me. And he was young man and he was very very good then. But i told him to do test you in development l. max and he and i think he's a better developer now and he was before there are some of these techniques however good you are or a badger can preview and if we were to be able to identify something that we could class as an engineering discipline. Then i think it would have that kind of property which is really talking about. I think we are all in software development circles in that we tend to take terms and change what they may. I think in nearly every other context that we can think of software if you use the term engineering it means the stuff that works in software development. We turn to me something else. Usually something more complex than something that we don't want very much. I think we have some power. And i think that i like to use reasonably straight definitional approach to causing things fulham ideas and if we think of engineering in terms of the practical application of science than he ought to look for software at least as much as it does something else and we have a bunch of advantages in favor to. We've got one of the most powerful experimental platforms that happens to also be exactly whereas software lives and competes. First of all. I read like that. You point out this distinction between engineers software engineers and developers because very important distinction. Don't even think about it. And they use the terms interchangeably. Yes but they mean very different things now. I think we can have a show just about that whether we are software engineers or software developers. So let's part that they recognize it for what it is and we want to the other thing which i like when you mentioned this martin. Being the best software developers engineers software developers are engineers. Okay okay great. So being martin like best software craftsman software person. tb mating better before td. What made him so good. In your eyes there are lots of things. He's a very smart guy we helps. It's not enough but it helps one of martin's great talents is he's got a laser beam focus on simplicity and one of the things the island from developing software with martin is. I really strengthen one of the toes in mind. Toolbox which is focusing on separation of concerns so martin's absolutely burly. He sees the least piece of code that these doing things immediately pulling pots trying separate those two things of each race of copies focused on achieving. Wanna come and then you know. He's growing it from that and he's always had these martin's saudis always is almost rating. Pros is readable modular. It's have easier. It's just nice code. He's also but listening fast it martin's one of the world's experts on high-performance and concurrent systems. He's widely recognized as such people in the java team occasionally asking for his advice that.

"Com. Click on the memberships top. So let's get to my guest today into being michael gallaher. He's an author speaker una coach of just finish reading his fascinating book which is called waking up for transformation in the michael talks about his very unusual childhood so stilted all compensation by asking him about that so good morning michael. Thank you much feel time. This morning i've just finished show book which was a real page. Turner and i wanted to feud stole the national by setting the scene. Just talk to us about your your child because it was extremely unusual. Thank you for the question. i. I'd like to start by saying thank you very much for having me on and talking with me today a little. While after i was born my mother came in contact with a high mind. Controlled group Today i choose to call it a cult known as jehovah's witnesses you may be familiar with them and they hit all eight of the criteria of what cult belief systems are and so that was an unusual experience as we grew up but then on the other side of that my father who was not a witness or not jove's witnesses at the time i was criminal criminal so we saw really to a very far ends of the spectrum with my father living a criminal life and then my mother who was a ultra religious to the point of mind control and so it's hard to choose in that environment in which direction to go. You know what what is your path. What is the Also on top of that you don't get a lot of choice. When you're living in a mind controlling environment or a mind controlled group there's a lot of brainwashing that goes on our so those things i think made it unusual. I had three older brothers all of which were in the same situation as i was dealing dealing with on the one hand Our moms religion and on the other hand are fathers criminal lifestyle. He was kind of a dichotomy though. My father was a talk about this in the book because on the on one side of it we would hear stories about him from his associates of how violent the know the kind of life he was living. We didn't hear stories from him. He kept that away from her home but would hear very violent stories about you know someone that owed him money and so the things he did to them her several people that had been shot by him things like that and then on the other side when he was home and when he was with us he was one of the most loving kind men that i'd never known or anyone had would be around so it was a real dichotomy of who. Who was this person. And then as i grew up that was a struggle. Who do you choose as your hero. Is the person you've heard about the out in after he died We heard an awfully lot more about some of the things. He did I think there were about fifteen banks. He had robbed a twenty or thirty drugstores things like that so that was his life for many years. He was eventually when i was eight years old. He was shot in in armed robbery in the head did live through that and then he went to prison after he recuperated from that in the hospital..

Gustav Holst: The Planets

"Welcome to classics for Kids I'm Naomi Lewin. Astronomy is the science that studies the Sun Moon Planets and other objects in the sky astrology is not a science. It tries to show how objects in the affect people's lives on Earth Gustav. Holst loved astrology and he composed his planets to be musical pictures of human nature. Holst started composing his First Planet Mars. The bringer of war in nineteen fourteen just before world. War One broke out. Mars was the Roman God of war. All the planets in our solar system except Earth are named for God's from ancient mythology. In Roman mythology Venus was the goddess of love. But host was interested in astrology not mythology. So his Venus is the bringer of peace. Venus is sometimes called the evening star because it's the first pinpoint of light you see in the sky after the sun goes down. But, light from stars twinkles when it passes through the Sky, light from planets doesn't. Next up is the planet that Holst actually composed last. Mercury is the closest planet to the Sun. So it's trip or orbit around the Sun is the fastest. It's named for the Roman Messenger God who had wings and host called his mercury the winged Messenger. Mercury is the smallest planet in the Solar System Jupiter is the largest. Jupiter King of the Roman gods was also known as Jove. That's where we get the word jovial, which means cheerful or jolly host titled He has Jupiter the Bringer of jollity. Jupiter is full of great tunes. Host later turned this one into a patriotic song. Gustav Holst called his planets seven pieces for large orchestra. You might say, wait a minute. There are eight planets nine. If you're a pluto fan how come host on the road seven well, first of all host finished composing the planets in one, thousand, nine, hundred, sixteen, and Pluto wasn't discovered until nineteen thirty also host based his planets on astrology which looks at how the other planets affect us here on earth. So no earth. Even, though the planets is the most popular piece, go stop host ever wrote he didn't think it was his best work, but he did like his planet Saturn the bringer of old age. Saturn Jupiter. In Roman mythology. There are other planets with rings, but none of them are as spectacular as the rings around Saturn humorist, Mark Russell joked that Saturn's rings are made of lost airline luggage, but they're really made of dust and ice. He only planet named for a Greek rather than Roman God is urine us who was Greek God of the sky. Rotate for turn on an imaginary line running through their middle called an axis. The access usually runs top to bottom with a little bit of a tilt like you see on globe but urine this is so tilted on its axis that it looks like it's spinning on its sign. Posts Planet Uranus is the magician. And his Neptune is the mystic. Neptune was the Roman God of the sea. In Neptune host created a really unusual ending for the planets. A double choir of women's voices join the orchestra singing with no words. And at the very end, only the voices are left and they just fade away.

Overall business you're trying to cheat, and then finally on the integration side, we borrow from the hippocratic goes here it ends this we did it sap as well, and in that it's do no harm and we are putting together integration plan. I WanNa make sure that we really understand what the acquired company tick, what made them successful and protect that protect your sales pipeline not go in and kind of rebe everything down Jeremy flesh out all of the value and company. Never, quiring. It's great. I loved all that that was awesome roadside commodore like the spirit of Dino harm but I would say never use those terms. Or. Sat out loud. The truth you're going to do some harm, right? You WanNa be very careful why Israel, with of incubating the value of making sure your own unnecessarily destroying it. But certainly being very clear communicating Abalta things are going to change if boss sometimes negotiation, there's sometimes it's it's not an. People over that that change per void there are I think private equity companies that will kind an employee into one of their assets portfolio right. So they're really answering to the private equity people, but were they really than working within the portfolio teen to find acquisition opportunities because that's part of the growth strategy that they're looking to implement how have your experiences been with those kinds of structures have any experiences to speak of and have those workout. Well I've come across some folks on the sell side and they've got a different perspective than let's say a homegrown corporate development leader within a company that campus standalone in the company as person on the other side of the table from someone like that it is helpful to research not imminent company you're looking to acquire, but also private equity firm in their entire portfolio to really understand where the motivations are where they lie on the other side. Because in that case, you know as I described making sure you get a good deal for both companies. A good deal in that instance may not just be A. For the selling company, it could mean a good deals abroad portfolio. Thoughts were. Seen that direct lamb looking the question to make sure I understand completely sold out not having seen it I would say having a counterpart in some form or fashion in the acquired company. In this case, we're saying him from. PG. Can. Greatly. Beneficial. I would still need to understand what the nature of the deal is and is this sort of an absorb or is this More merger of equals that will shape relationship. So can be very beneficial, would just need to be very clear on roles and responsibilities, decision rights and things like that. At Mirrored Naso just answer this piece that I have worked with private equity companies assertive. So when that's broad and help an organization that they are have an interest in in thinking about acquisition strategies. How do we think? About emanate and one of the things I will say is there are many times competing motivations within the private equity organization, there's a lot of focus on financial engineering meeting. You're doing a lot of modeling in your thinking about money where you can leverage capitalists about really cost to capital issues and through financial engineering. It makes sense however when you're talking to the operating executives, what you find is. Their focus is really on, wait a minute to our customers align. Can we actually reached these geographic market and what's our experienced in the past? A lot of those pieces get ignored because many times you don't know how to quantify them easily into the financial models. So there's a huge disparity and there's a lot of work that happens in translating that disparity to individuals. So it has been official. Because you get the exposure people know about the deal you have you know people are more ready to accept when you ask for capital infusion to go make an acquisition but then there's competing motivations. So I would really caution organizations to think about that kind of structure and if they can't have one that sits within the organization because you want someone who's thinks from that perspective executes from that perspective. So that's just been. My experience is I've worked with different organizations. We talked about how not every deal is the right deal and maybe that's the best deals in one that we have done. So why is there so much focus on deal sheets and the number of deals that you've done and how much of the executed. It's an oxymoron I find that interesting. So any thoughts on that? Those are the trophy and everybody in every profession likes to have their fees died and it used to be used to get an actual trophy on. The tombstone. Of A lot of those under pretended says something guess by yourself I I'd I don't know I I don't think it's anything more than now when I found myself interviews job jove's years I often talk much more about you know he can't say can't give details about deals at never happened but I do tend to emphasize that you know despite the fact that I've done about a hundred deals, it might career closed deal. There is probably three four times that I've gotten very far down a path evaluating, and those are just as the additives to my experience as the ones that close. I don't think it's anything more than just you know its metric point This is just been my experience I find that people that ask for that metric. It's usually because organization haven't had a corporate development function and it's one of what they think should be the criteria. In fact, it actually tells me a lot more when people tell me the deals they've done, and I'll give you an example if somebody says to you that I've done forty three billion dollars in deals in your I. Don't know in your mid to late thirties that says a lot to me. Right. It says about what you actually did on the deal and so in fact, it can work both ways. I would caution people to really think about what you put and to have the backing for everything that you put on your resume, its very critical, your credibility and you'll long-term professional success. So I'll just close on that topic as close. I'd love to leave people with thoughts that they can ruminate on about corporate. Development and I'm GONNA, give the states to you. Both I'll say when you come in to the funk shame, you have a lot of excitement yourself about getting it off the ground and again for all the reasons you guys, there's a lot of excitement around the organization about the fact that function being established and therefore signaling that we're GonNa, we're GonNa do deals, and that's exciting. But as the leader in the middle of setting it up, be humble be collaborative understand you're not going to. Be. The savior the turns company orbits around or helps it hits different trajectory in frankly you're not going to be viewed that way and there's probably many skeptical folks around the organization as there are people or be excited. So like any other thing of value, any other endeavor value note that this process and and to have an impact, it needs to be a process and the vast amount of collaboration is or is be needed across the organization you should. You should make the priority.

"Dal but I think this is our opportunity to be leaders for our team and you know I I take it too personally. Sometimes when I really try to go out on my way but myself in their shoes and then that's not always knowledged or isn't always met with appreciation But you know you gotta keep almost punches and just do like actually was saying everything we can for our patients they keep them safe ver- team to get what they need to be safe and it. Yeah it sucks because it's it's really very now but or we're GONNA do not get them the things they need like. That's not an option. I can Moan and complain all day long. About how expensive Masks aren gowns are nobody? Don't WanNa be robbed over that but shoot. We're getting ready to open. We need those things so it's time to get up so that's where we're supposed to open full capacity on Monday. We're we're we're allowed of opened on Monday. The was a May as a Friday. So the eleventh they just recently said it'd be fourth so we didn't see any patients on the fourth and we're kind of testing the waters this week with our new protocols with temperatures and everything and inning. We're doing some pro fees at ninety minutes your time. We just want to make sure that we got the flow of things down but some easy things that we're trying to do differently. That hopefully will reduce the possibility of contamination. When told you limited people we have in the office of one dime true unless people were taking temperatures in the car and then bringing them straight back to their appointment ready for them or trying to win over possible. Check them out in the room and then walked on a separate exit so they don't cross paths that anyone else. I don't know measures like that But all of that is just taking more coordination and more. You know it's GonNa be hard to do everything that we weren't doing in sixty minutes stuff so we're gonNA intake form right when they fill out wounded temperature on that former nice tip to my people. Maybe I don't know we're GonNa Award an boarded yet but we're going to somehow phrase the question Hey would you be okay not for hygiene equipments? Would you be okay not getting an example? The doctor today if you're due for one And then having our hygienists amount note that in our schedule so that if we're running behind we can just glance and keep rolling knowing that patient got one in six months ago. They don't have to get one today in our state. It's a once every thirteen months So I don't know that that might be helpful to some people. I don't know it's going to play out but it's one of my concerns. This were already running behind in the gathering exam patients at treatments. Talk about and all that stuff you it goes so yeah David Says Dr David Sutton says neighbors. Yeah he said he said it. We've got your back drew. We're community if you ever need anything I'm just a mile away We got get you here with all of those cool. We've been trying to get together with him. I been drinking together with them. I think the ball's in my court sorry David Boston. My court he's sending heart. Yeah Oh that's that's the dapper already guys so with that being said I guess we're going to end it here. We're GONNA If anybody has any questions or concerns I'm sure drew Ashley and I will stick around to ask any questions below. I know you guys have had questions. But we couldn't get through all of them because like Gerard said focus and then we kind of it was the Internet's fault. Have it was Internet's fault guys so if anybody has a really fantastic internet comment below maybe where maybe we'll.

"That's what most do that's how I want to happen And what's been is we've been closed for about two months and I still because a members correct. I'm still getting paid membership. Patients will get them caught up cleanings and whatnot. But like I've had no one processing payments it happens. Automatically all automatically. So it's been a nice perk head some revenues coming in to pay bills and whatnot so you market though how to market yes. Let us talk. So I've got I think is a pretty great idea I haven't started yet because I wanted to make sure that I had the oval to support it. But I mean I would like to talk about how did market differently than I was before we could talk about just general marketing advice for membership. Plan the idea. Is You want to track the cash paying patient right. I'd rather grow the practice with cash patients for insurance patients that want to track those with this number. That's our hope to get into the practice but when I'm doing differently now it's going to. I hope that it's just going to spread organically worried about our practice and our reputation So it's self serving but it's also helping the community. This is one of the things I talked about the General membership master course a One of our strategies that Chris and I go over is okay. If you lost your job or your dental insurance as a result of the Kobe pandemic your next cleanings on us may not for the sake of.

"You've been saying that I think six months of opening like Michael I met. You think it's time has really been that Rove basically confirming now while okay. So we've been said Judy Dude. He's been amazing. She's my office manager. I talk about her like almost every day. Thanks Judy for everything She's been she's been our one woman show. I am kind of the behind the scenes person. she will re are still taking emergencies and she is fielding all of those calls and text messages from home. I had her work from home. We have a remote access our office which has been really Nice And then I've been going in periodically bringing one assistant to help me because I don't know how to take Radio Graphs in my office said so sad. I really I'm veiled what I do and talk about is just working in this new environment like. I think that we could spend an entire facebook. Live conversation just talking. About the stresses the demands on our bodies for one and just the impact. This is going to have on our schedules and I know that most of us are not defer service practices. Mike drew is so so from my perspective I am. We are extremely low on P. P. I have scoured the Internet Looking for authorized dealer for a ninety five masks and they don't tell you that they are backward until after you've already submitted your credit card information and paid for the bank thing and then you get the email that says. Oh Yeah we we have no idea when this is going to come. So we've been in the waiting game and in the meantime. I've I've shelled out hundreds of dollars just waiting for stuff to arrive. So that has been quite frustrating throughout this entire thing. I've had a handful of people. Just ask me where. I'm even getting gowns from and those were actually from when we first opened. My mom gave it to me because she really wanted us to be protected and I was like. I don't even wear scrubs in my office like that so not smiling and now we are still not smiling. Co We are like Oh. It is not cute so gowns gowns for one. Okay but we can talk about gowns. But but the masks situation when I put on that mask because we are in such a limited supply I am double masking so I haven't done ninety five and then I have a level three on top of that and an end ninety five already You're supposed to do a a seal test to make sure that it. It's adequately protecting you while you do that. You can't even really breathe in that by itself and you add a level three on top of that. Now you're just like suffocating so I've been getting a lot of headaches and just the amount of sweat in underneath all of this deal. I Dunno drill what. What is your experience working working with a year out that so I I am too much of a wanted okay. I'm in Florida which is not hit as hard as where you are. So I can't speak to how I may be responding if I were in an area like you're but I definitely of the type that I wanted to bury my head in the sand and say this is GonNa go away six months as much as I want that to be true. I think it's very unlikely that will be back to normal. Used to be So prior to this You Know I. I've learned a lot about mask. Filtrations and the different levels level one to endure or supposed to have for procedures and how frequently. We're supposed to be changed the motivations and whatnot without you know staying shooting previously. Just going to say that. It'd be a little more proactive about making sure that I have the right filtration. Going on. The hard part is that nobody is is. It's a blessing. I know one thing we have to have and I would prefer it that way. I don't want them to come in mandate a whole bunch of stuff but in that vacuum of a directive. It's US just trying to use our best judgment. And then see what the CDC says that they say and ninety five or anything. That's bruising salts which is everything so to answer your question I've only seen a handful of patients Recently I did the a couple of weeks ago. Cdc was saying if you don't have any five you could do a surgical mask with facial so we got some of those thirty per you. Know more of the Belus. Thirty APP is like an APP that you can scan your face give thirty model but I just was like team to more comfortable. Let's get it seven. Got One I've been using that with a level two for the things that have been doing In the Face Shield. I feel comfortable with that I've got way more level. Three's been trying to stock up on level. Three Masks So that's kind of what we have. I did get some Kate and ninety five and I have some in ninety five company this week for my team But that's kind of power handling his face. Shield heavy duty mask. We have some gowns. Try and use them not to over like some guys have been trying to get more but when they're gone they're gone more zone. You know try not to your description. It's not dirty keep it going. What personal feeling what had y'all's patients been saying so far and your team about this will my so far. Here's my gut is saying. It's GonNa Happen Patients. I I could be wrong. I'm definitely by default optimist So take it with the result but I. I suspect we're GONNA have in the first few weeks Inflexible trying to get in. Because they've had things that weren't an emergency you know every week or so you get the person who broke off a cost. One of his one of their teeth and pain. I bet there's a backlog of patients who are just waiting I opens. They can check out which is going to help. Offset probably know twenty percent decrease of people who just aren't comfortable opening your area and your demographic that could be worse people who maybe aren't comfortable yet and those numbers will probably get better as the weeks go on. I hope so I I actually the should tell you a little bit about my disposition and all of this. I may be doing something very foolish but before this all happened. It was hard for me to find good. Good people do our team There weren't many people looking so I am going big or going home here. I you guys are GonNa think I'm crazy This Week Ernie tired. Yeah that's true. I hired five new people join our team. Jeez really so how much total that puts us up to fourteen Random Willy Nilly. Hire them like bring them on through your your mindset all right. I can't wait to watch this later. Like much bankrupt from from a people to sit around do nothing because no patients showed up a really quick thinking. What I'm hoping before really fast. Did you furlough anybody yes you did? Okay we. We did pretty much whole team except for our scheduler And my sister came in a couple of times And so everyone's back from furlough now that we have the PCP that in context before cova broke out and we we sat down. We had we had Few people transition out of her office. you know. We had assistant. We had three since one of them left and onto and same with front office. At one point we sort of had four at the front office was office manager. Who DID NOT WORK OUT In we probably need to lease three for an office. So we're down to so I hired one front office hired to assistance One of them's brand news. She's going to be balancing between the front and the back that puts us up to four systems. Total which I don't know how to use force it for dentists what we have as probably standard a lot of offices of we've only ever really had one per dentist so we're you know we're we're we're we don't fly like a PPO Based practice pace to typically think of that we try to take more time on average. So we're learning how to do that. But one of those incidents have been having being a runner taking out going into the temperatures and whatnot. I think our front office is going to be slammed with people. Rescheduling and trying to fill the schedule. Oh here's in thing did okay. I heard you knew Hijaz. Here's why we We average three columns of hygiene a day before this all happened. Once we shut down we had to reschedule two months for the patients with were. We're GONNA put them because we were booked up in this or them so I said just open. A fourth column will hire subway after to figure it out over the next two months. We have four calms hygiene schedule. What I don't really want to have four columns day. So here's what we're doing and I think it's. It's too many people in the Office. We don't really have the parking for it It's GonNa be crazy if we tried to do that. We're going to run behind etc so what we're doing is we're taking those that extra four column and saying the three columns were getting rid of the fourth column or expanding the three columns and so now we're going to be open from seven. Am to seven PM so switching to expanded hours so were eight to five most states. That's three in the morning six in the afternoon. So we're trying to take that fourth column in restructured so it falls into the other columns and only have to do three calls of hygiene for the day and it was a lot of math. Try and figure everyone's hours that would now change to accommodate that So I'm kind of just go a little crazy. I think I'm really worried that in a couple of weeks and then realize what was I thinking. This is all falling apart but if it works and we'd better for our patients Better hours easier scheduling for them. will be fewer people in the office at one time and this was of a five year plan now wicked to contest it out. See how it works you guys tell me crazy I thank you. I think you are but I think it's the crazy people who either do really successfully or or not but I think because I know you drew I I am. I think it's GonNa work just fine and I love that you've been in this pandemic. You are thinking big picture and while most offices are shrinking and thinking about how they are going to let go of people I really admire and respect you for thinking bigger and and and supporting your your your Supporting your workforce in in Florida singlehandedly. By hiring so many new people especially your. I need this weekly. Let's have a weekly at shack session. We tell each other how this week Jews like I'm losing it. I'M LOSING IT AT A. We got a question from Gerard and then after this question actually how. How's your team in your patients? Handling of Gerard saying he's asking P. P. e. great eat and thirteen four okay for US dentists and P. P. E. Great Ian Fourteen one to six. Yeah I'm going to actually take that one yes Gerard. Yes and it's way more technically the fact that you even know those numbers probably means that you are researching enough to nobody Jersey this Girardi. You sound like you would know a lot. Yes another question. I think it goes on like he asked. How are you disinfecting? And we're using your. Pcp maybe guys like the human is now P P Tux assets say sorry so interestingly enough to To answer that question I actually watched two different webinars. The first Webinar that I watched was put on by Linda. Rb and she talked about how you need to have new guidelines. Say That you have to switch out your gowns. After every patient that you're seeing and then I watched a Webinar from Director of basically the director of Osha in Washington State. And he said you don't have to change out your gowns or jackets unless it's visibly soil so.

"Hove ask from the making of a dental startup. Podcast and this episodes originally on the making of a dental star podcast. That's a podcast. If you don't know actually and I we document her process in that podcast and we also kind of talk about other star in that a podcast if you want. I'M GONNA put a link to that podcast and the show notes below just in case. You didn't know about that podcast. But it's I wanted to let you know that since it was a facebook live and it was three of us We have some tough Internet connections. Zoom was not our friend that day and all of our Internet's were acting up. So you're gonNA hear in the middle of the episode. Where a we lose drew. We lose Dr Drew Burns. Which is it's okay. Because it was facebook live. We were talking a little bit more about Some of the comments and then we got drew back and when we got drew back We mainly talking about in house membership plans and so forth so if you want us to dive in deeper on that and so much more we can definitely have drew back on and talk all about how he markets his in house membership plans and so forth which. I know he would love to do so without further delay. Here is the episode. How's it going with you guys just new protocols in PP John? I will You know I've been reading so much drama. On facebook hygienist versus dentists in hygienist versus hygienists everybody versus everybody and Our first day back I when we were not open yet but I had the team in the office. I just everybody down and said look. We're going to start by reading your core values number. One is always do the right thing and now we're kind of slowed from there right in these are this is the lens that look through his making decisions and I said to them so grateful that like what I see happening on. Facebook is not currently at least happening here. No one's attacking each other. I want you all to be safe. My my first priority is GONNA make big. Make sure that you guys are safe in. Their patients are safe in that order. Because if you you get sick everyone's GonNa get sick so we've gotTA PROTECT YOU. Epping said that no one knows what we need So I was really trying hard to resist making any fear based purchases but now that we're about to open. I've made a lot of fear based purchase last minute They said that we basically need a ninety. Five's for anything result producing. That's what I think the. Cdc came out recommended. Nothing's required but my team is like nervous about understandably getting getting sick getting catching it from somebody so I took that shoot. We need to get some anti fives soon. so I I've gotten most the stuff that we need at least a supply for the first day and I'm kind of hoping that either the prices will come down on those and ninety five masks And become more readily available. What's the pressure now? I mean good luck trying to find some right now Local heads up. I don't know if this would help anybody but a compounding pharmacy we use every now and then for like a topical Gel or who need a match mouthwash just dropped off some free hand sanitizer for us and a list of things that they're selling and they said that we don't People are thinking to come to us for these things. But here's what we have here. Such us in ice skate quickly. Skim scandalous for another five. They're selling them a nine dollars a piece. That's as expensive as I've seen. I think before I think I read. Somebody say this is true before this all happen They were maybe like sixty five cents a piece I've seen them if you can find them at all. I've seen them in like the seven dollar six five six seven dollar range. But I don't trust most boys are being sold or like. Oh I've got a guy who's selling them. It's like yeah. Those are counterfeit so I think what's going to happen those. We're going to start wearing those in after the second patient realize we. We can't is just not practical. So you know we got air purifier. Is We got some gowns? We've got some of the Hoodie things. We've got the face shields Ashley. I like. How you worry your face shield us one of your is like around your neck upside down and the the second that I just got neutered. She could get her voice more. Okay don't want to quote Ashley on that out of context just You know in the comments just got neutered actually hits you mean because of the cone appearance of a right right right right right. Yeah that's way more effective to where that way to reduce the splutter preventing you when I put on the regular way. I spent way too much time looking for a shield that would allow space for my lips light and then I got one of those kind of fit but it worked. You could still when you're looking at the patient and the words supposed to go. It's like open space in the right. Yeah so I have two of those and I'm just GonNa leave them in the treatment room that I work in my system. Wipe it off to go to the next one. Not Use them. For hijacks. That's kind of my plan down but for for us just to summarize. I've been doing what I can make my team be feel safe but it's day by day thing where people are. I truly want them to be safe and feel safe. And no one really knows what to expect. So it's a Lotta offices. Have it worse than us because people have? We don't have a lot of team members of a Cha Cha children in school. But that's a whole another factor that I'm not relevent deal with too much out of school. Now what about you? Actually how are you guys doing? I'm I'm ready for retirement..

"Yeah because I want you start. Aging starts taking more time and takes ten years right. So what you're just hitting. The distillery is talking to a gentleman who was distilling vodka and he was basically saying you know. I can turn this really quick but says he went to Bourbon or something else now. He's gotTa Start Aging in. It changes the dimensions. What they have and this is a very could go point ab I think spirit of Gal will be one of the unique experience in the world that by himself have so many layers of favorite. Because you mentioned bud cap but pretty much doesn't have any taste. You Actually GonNa need to age or put some favor and all that but discount by zone has so many flavors that you need to add anything. I mean even Tequila Again. This will be born blind dementia Yeah when you added aging part actually connected with more flavors and all that but a whole that will be like during scout he has so many famers. That really impressed right. So let's up so I think the audience now I know it's a little numbering this up and it's it's ISO easel Ito and this is the this is your first offering. It's out this is. This is the first line in. The product is ominous. Kobe is forty seven percent. Oncle under an the process The way we do it. Is We harvest while ago? Robin Ross. I mentioned on the Dacian is all From Dacian naturally. We don't add any extra east or nothing like that because we went and did the As natural as possible right the crew flavors of of the miscount and then double dissolution. I want it tasted I know we already tasted a little bit. I'm GONNA take some more here can and like I said it's it's it's got a smokey taste to it. But what I like is that the finish is so smooth know I've had to Kayla's and miss gals and by the time you know sucking on Lemons or whatever I could get the this is really smooth and and I think I read in in in one ear Releases you refer to it as sipping to make we create these profile. I mean Go back to Mexican heritage in history and culture. It was the timing. Makes it go read undo cocktails right when you? Cpi miskel just need straight. Maybe on ice does the way you will get those flavors in your pilot and all that and and is a gay because we create these high profile that Extreme bull that actually show it will just create a nice combining round favor. Ideally you see this one. I mean this is a win. Is You have a good whisky. You Sleep it. You have a good. You have a good miscall see but my inclination with something this as I. I WANNA grab a cigar. It is I mean you had this smoke. But he's a very sweet to also had. The citizens has a prison la tiny like herbal and earnest and It's very smooth. That was kind of my thing I've been passionate about wine and always looking for those winds are low in Tannin because I don't like the kind of by to being harsh and we need to miss cal. I think when you see it it goes so nice and so smooth. You cannot believe that these high profile minskoff isn't ninety four but he's so smooth. That's excellent now a lot of times. You know we we talk about wine as we said. You're looking at pairings from a from a food standpoint and do you recommend food pairings with this and love this Miscalculating seafood. I mean like trim even as callups. I'm in even octopus. I mean things like that will just create a nice connection one of the key points of this when Scott because he surrounded he allows you to buried with a nice even a cheese. And maybe Salamis. I mean you really had that my expecter Engaging different type of foods and again you know. It's nice to have a little bit of food when you're seeping from my spirits right. Yeah it's it's excellent so I do have to point out your year. Stopper yes is is is granted. He's actually onyx. Onyx okay even. This is a very unique what we did here. And one of the key components this whole package is to bring a very unique stopper right. Maybe you can hold my clear. These hand made product. We outsource the onyx from Durango and We send it to a a factory that actually can produce the stopper and then we assembled a cork in our in our distillery and the cool thing about this is everybody is unique. Because it's a matra proud. We take it from that Slab. Then we call it an leave you you know you see here. There's always it between is unique everything and then every time you get a bodily. He said unique bottle. There's there's not ball because it we cannot duplicate is You know proud of is natural and I think he's a pretty cool. I find people actually enjoy. I mean we get in the store and when we rely at all of the Gazan mostly women you know will take a look at this top brandon. Probably choose more ready for them united. They they get a bottle based on the court. Whatever works so As an entrepreneur. I mean did you just wake up one morning and say I think I'm going to start a spirit company? Well maybe he was he was kind of. I mean always in the works to again You know especially believing. Hyun stage and in San Diego. It'd be home for me for the past fifteen sixteen years. How can I bring you know a little bit of our culture I love my hometown is a very small hometown. Finally finding eighty years old a CD and a really WANNA CADILLAC CAP. Bring some from can be exposed through the markets right. Well Hello Miss Colleen. We make miscarrying imaging you know. He's a great spirit and I think it. Will we start this business you know? Put everything my mind in two thousand seventeen and it took gop hold. It doesn't eighteen goods together because we established a company here in the states and then we started the company in Mexico. Put it together and then create another legal party name restriction. Oh boy I mean. He was quite a challenge. But Yeah When they I kind it has relatively quick from two thousand seventeen to I mean. We're just plain actually. Yeah we I'm sometimes I. I think we are going to fast. But we have solid the steps up because they're in this especially these Category of of Spirit takes longer to go to you know go tube steps in get to processing awareness of Reynouard News and marketing and all that But I think we we we in the right way and we are very aware of. We need to do and what we need to. I mean goes to the next set basing in our business but yeah I mean that the product land in two thousand nineteen in San Diego. You a little bit more than a year but I mean yeah almost so where are are you your own distributor you working through one of the big distributors or no. I mean we decide especially at the beginning really that A nice sub up we using a distributor actually will help us with that invoicing logistics. We take care of the sales. Okay we connect what happens with a lot of people that own first of all. There's a lot of people that companies that actually find the outsource. Here's my bottle. My Label Produce and then you just threat to somebody. Okay Salad and the phase right. But I wasn't happy with that. I WANNA be out there talking to bartenders and the bar managers connected with actually what is going on doing seminars training staff and we actually doing that. And that's kind of unique because we have our base here in San Diego and then we decided okay. We use like a third party. Logistics Distributor at. That actually will help us to a boy seemed into distribution. We control the sales. We face the custom so I mean this is a is a relatively new company You know we're not competing with the big boys that are on television and stuff like that. So it's kind of a grassroots kind of boots on the ground kind of a a marketing approach that you have using social media and things like that I mean. Is that what you're kind of marketing? Engine is right now. The Yemen especially right now is is kind of a a trying to push it through social media trying to do to mouth. I mean we're we're we're lucky that you know. We do business with Costco and then at Costco helped to first of all recognize that we are good brand and what we did also is a put through challenge spirit challenges unless we have inter five and we have won medals in five of them. The last one was the San Francisco Challenge when they're most recognize Awards minute challenging and we won a bronze medal. I mean among thousands of spirits around the world in unreserved I Miss Gals on recognizing twenty. And we were I mean Bronson bronze-medal validates why we doing. Because you're not we can talk. I can tell you this is a business you can have right. That was important. Is I got a third party going through process because he's a blind tasting. I don't know if you know the president is just give him just not brands. No nothing labels is blind dates at the end you get. The results is fantastic. Congratulations that's great. Yeah absolutely so where where we got about. Maybe eight minutes left in and out. I know that you know with what's going on in the World Co Vid I understand that that you guys have kind of changed your distillery into making a hand sanitizers yet. We have to imagine. Mexico is strong and right now big time. If here we cannot destroy you can get any product for you. Know like hands in dies or wipes on all that over there. It gets a little bit more critical. I am yeah. We'RE WE'RE SHIFTING. And then we stop our production of the miscount right now for for Libya and then will do we actually doing some handsome dies that will donate especially for community right. I mean we're committed. I mean at least we can do a of them bringing over here but I mean I think we need to take care of our own community there and be able to be more brought to other outlets fantastic. I mean I commend you for that. I know Some others have done that. But you're right at the end of the day it's about the people and the people that work for you and for other companies and You know we need to make sure that the workers are taken care of because at the end of the day if they're not taking care of nothing else was gonNA happen. Yeah no it's all about the people that have been with them and is nothing will happen right. Amanda you your family and you take care of the process and the product will follow. I've Been Jack. We're committed to it attest. there's one other thing. I WanNa talk about before. We kind of start to wind down and I found it really. Interesting is is the process. You know you're you're using solar and renewable in to propagate the plants I mean. You're you're really doing it from an environmental standpoint. So can we talk about that a little bit because I think what our goal was? Kinda like Lists integrate with nature. Right I mean our our story We have the solar panels water treatment. Plant that we. We are very conscious of whatever we don us we can just we we bring it back. the bees are no bees in the world? Not No humans. You know like this is like very important right And we tried to integrate because remember we have an open dramatization. Whatever it is in the nature will come and that micro organism started eating in the east. The sugar combined Is it's all about ourselves to their vitamin we're not there to disrupt anything. It's just to to be as gentle as possible and that was candidate. I'm being able to produce something that we feel proud of it that we are not taking anything away. We just didn't actually in our community. We take care of our own employees in our community. Try to be very conscious of people in by. They need if we can okay. So Hindsight's.

Christian Louboutin Reflects On His Career

"I'd like to go back to the beginning of your career and I read somewhere that you dropped out of school at a very young age around twelve. Have to cool till sixteen when you when you live in France but I was. Yeah I started to be expelled. Twelve so of out of school basically right and you were already obsessed with shoes right Yup. Yup where did that? Where did that come from this? Like shoe obsession. It comes from different thing than it. I would say comes from two things. It comes home in a session that I had as a kid for showgirls music Horn and even even movies where I could see dancing and it comes from that and it comes from actually from the place where we are now. Which is this museum which used to be which used to be a African panic art museum when you were answering on? It's a beautiful magnificent building. One thousand nine hundred eighty one so when you are entering a signal which was enjoying it was representing a shoe so it was a sea of a shoe high here on the fifty. But it just wasn't a late seventies so I didn't know that these join may me become sort of conscious that everything stopped by joint because it was drawing of a shoe of women's shoe but it was not existing because I'd never seen such show. It was appointee last appointee. Stiletto so I fought. I understand that. It's a drawing representing a women's shoe but this should doesn't exist so and it was. You showed me sign or symbol. It's a sign saying. Don't wear these shoes all issues when you saw them. As a young person he wanted to create shoes like that is that what happened. Exactly exactly so between my obsession for dancers on that joying. That made me understand that everything. Basically start by drawing and so. I wanted to do something which was not existing for music owned else and I sort of you know for me. Musical go further so they were like exotic birds on. I always love but and so I didn't think that had costume because someone told me but you could design costume for musical food was no costume. You know birds always have further which was natural to have further to those girls but buds don't have shoes. I wanted to create a human thing for these birds of paradise in a way. What what do you think shoes represent in our culture and why what is a shoe? What a shoe represent a lot of things According to different culture it has different meanings to same thing for callers. The interesting thing is at that. Say about work when I first started to design shoes for me on my name that say so early. Nineties shoe was people were always making reference to an accessory and then from accessory it expanded into something by itself. Schumer has moved. The Nimitz accessory has left the domain of just being an accessory it has become its own identity and things that it comes from different things but definitely it come from the fact that it's it's a very big symbol of Liberation. It's a symbol of feminity but it brings to it brings. The person wears issues a different poster. A different way of being a different way to show yourself and and so. It's a very different attitude. It's very small. It's a very small element which gave radiates. Antibody chains the body language. It changed it Sunup. Gravity and shoes whereas a woman of women who opposes by the Shoe Charissa woman right. So you didn't formerly study should assign but you weren't with some very famous shoe designers most importantly house if G. Yes what was that like? Because he's got obviously a you know long and very historic famous history here in France as a shoe designer. What what was that like working with him so what happened. Executive was is that when I worked with him he had ended his career but he was a mentor to me and so I worked. I did a museology type of work so I was ever seeing his assistant. But I never designed for Jose. Never no no. I worked at a period of the retrospective. I had met him before and then he asked me to be his assistant for everything but not designing on. That didn't want to design for him. I was so excited and happy to look at the work of someone that I knew so well and to have it explained but it's mass by his master and so what happened is that when I was ten I started to do. A sketch had seen that museum. Do Undo Redo that sketch always the same profane and so I started to put it every table of my different schools where I got expelled. Because one of the reason was because I was like trashing Zell's tables with my designs and and then one day one person and then it was almost sixteen. Gave me a book and say for you and I who likes shoes I find newsies and someone gave me the book of what it was Gold Makarova on just had his name. When I opened the Book I realized that my obsession with join shoes was also a beautiful work but had never thought of it as a work before it was rare in being shoot as no. I didn't know any design is right and so when I opened at book I fought. This is it. That's jobs and supposedly doing and from that moment I started to change the angle I started to. I was always own enjoying pro fine and when I decided that it could be a designer assured his on I started to free quarters exit down when I saw the work aversion so obviously has been very important and influential because he's sort of opened meat completely to the ideas that it was a beautiful possible word So then how did you actually learn how to design shoes so now so I started so? My first thing was to to jove a to do shoes for showgirls. So I started an internship when I was seventeen at I stayed less than a year and then after I realized that you know this is not Boorda was not going to do was not going to do shoes for showgirls. Invalid just doesn't happen. I was sent to glue to have to bring coffee Which was very nice and I learned a lot actually from dances but to really design shoes. I was not going to be there so I ended up thinking. Fashion is probably the place to go and I opened the yellow pages. I remember there was nobody. The first house was Batmans. Was nobody answering. The phone. Second House was Joel on ice to speak to the director. They say Jericho. What a subject off. Cuccia and on the path maters this wonderful lady quote Ellen. D'amato was direct couture. She gave me an appointment. She looked at my design. She said it's very pretty. And we want to do a stash jokes. Wt BY SEAN. Joel I say yes so. I got sent into south of France for one year and this is why I learned to be. My first job was as a modest so my former education of Mideast comes home sold off and then after I was. Stephen merged like a night club so one year a challenge. Although in in the south in the middle of nowhere was a bit tough but at Shell Joel down the technical aspects of creating shoe. That's where you learned it because it's important you were just showing me that incredible installation to show. How shoes or graded You know and the sizing of it like I think designs a bit like architecture hearing engineering and architecture. That's why yeah. That's exactly what I'm trying to show. It's actually Victor Nick. Yeah it's really precise but it's organization. It's very important Yeah it is definitely. It's very technical. This is why actually it's also often expensive and for instance. It's complicated for someone who would start to do a proper so so much engendering you know so much metal inside formation in order to keep the balanced also to keep the arch. You know you can sort of easily against do address with like a stitching being a needle. You can sort of manage to do something with fabric. But she's not fabric slander component which are complicated. It's orange

"Two thousands with the pats absolute way did you see the Gatorade bath in the jets big win over the Steelers I would not it was not for Adam gase it was for jets assistant coach Hines ward I don't staff so there's that the only about the jet staff was how dysfunctional it is because of Adam gase and Greg Williams and Joe Vitt and Greg Williams son basically the Johnsons made Adam gase higher Greg Williams any civil fine I'm hiring job of it Joe of it of course turn Greg Williams and dine them out to the NFL or at least Adam gase his father Joe of it and get his father in law they were all together nerd and Williams were together New Orleans is that bad so Pontiac part of the whole bounty gate thing so Williams obviously suspended Jove it becomes interim head coach but they're working together certainly not in harmony I'm sure those joint meetings go pretty quickly and it's a lot of offense over here defense over there we'll see on Sunday well Greg Williams knows all about on cost for meetings because we saw him on hard knocks in twenty eighteen with the Browns shooting daggers into Q. Jackson's eyes during the course of those meetings but are you okay with wide receiver assistant getting showered after your team beats the team at your you know ring a favor and and potentially hall of Famer it meant a lot to Hines ward you want to show the old team what they're missing out on I'm sure Hines ward would have loved to have been an assistant for the team with which he made his professional name but didn't work out so I think you want to arrange can't wait speaking of the Steelers Mason road off left shoulder injury out for what could be a do or die game for the Steelers going into Baltimore week seventeen of course they need help they need the Texans to beat the Titans the Steelers do not control their own path.
