"All right. Welcome to another episode of piecing together the podcast where we take a look at a new movie and try to figure out what movies inspired it and today on the show we are talking about the Netflix film cuties and before you turn this off and cancel your subscription to the show and semi death threats just no I think we tried our best to approach this conversation with. A solid level-headedness and look at the movie itself and what it is and the film's influences because that's what the show is all about we of course, have to get into some of the controversy around it but we definitely tried to keep the conversation Amtrak for the things that are important which is, of course, what movies might have inspired this movie. So we are talking with Josh Bell Who's back on the show it's been awhile since his last time on and I always love having him on if you haven't been listening to awesome move year there in the middle of their nineteen, seventy, seven season and been covering a lot of great movies. So make sure to check out awesome movie here, and of course, make sure subscribe piecing together on your podcast APP choice. You can rate and review us on Apple podcasts or Pod chaser and follow us on social media at Piecing pod and join our facebook group popcorn and puzzle pieces were we continue the conversation about all the movies we talk about here on the show and there's certainly been a few conversations about cuties going on in that group. So definitely check that out, and I, think it's time.

Cards beat Pirates 9-1

"Actually not even a fan. It was the Cardinal's president, Jo Mosley. Yaqui. Ah, he sat in the upper deck. A mascot roamed an empty stadium. No major bursts of energy from what would have been about 40,000 fans. Pirates center fear over Jarrod Dyson took a knee and protest during the anthem. Fired, scored twice in the seventh last night after a catcher Jacob Stalling, singled to write. Ah scored Josh Bell and Ah Colin Moran. A buck scored two in the ninth. Again, It was Josh ballad Colin Moran again scored off up Josiah SUNA single to center. So I went to bed. They were trailing three. Nothing. Joe must have got the lost yesterday. He faced 23 batters through 99 pitches If you care They played again This afternoon. Trevor Williams got to start for the Pirates Adam Wainwright and is what 20 year career for the gun he started for the cards Cold. Tucker made his first Amobi start. Today in right for the buccos. Cards, took an early first inning lead with Paul Goldschmidt Homerun Pirates then tied things up in the second on Ah, bases loaded walk. On it, and then it well, it all fell apart. Nine won the final Pirates lost their home opener. As if it really matters to fans is Monday, hosting the Brewers. I say What is the home opener Mean to fans? Because The Pirates are Going to be Ah. An empty ballpark again. So does it really matter, Pirates tweeting A photo of Ah Large black lives matter Banner, which adorns the leftfield Rotondo right now. "Yeah I mean there's a lot of those I I was. I was sort of wondering like you know which to include. Or how many should I include their certainly Other ones in movies like the bad seed or the good son. That non supernatural that are just like the basically the premises. The kid is like a Dick. That's a little bit of a different one. But right right and that but again you kind of wonder at certain points when he's like acting out at school it's like Oh is it just. Is The kid just kind of an asshole or is there something else going on? Yeah keep you wondering that at least for the first portion right. Yeah so what are you going next so I only have one more because I had the Baba Duke to But my other one is the only non horror movie that I picked is drop dead Fred. Cates which is a comedy I I saw when I was like ten and that is the last time I saw it. But it is a movie about an adult woman who's imaginary friend returns to wreak havoc in life and it's done as a comedy of course which this is not but I felt like that was. That was a very specific kind of story that hasn't been told that much but ultimately that is what this movie is about. Is that the imaginary friend and also the idea of like promising something to your imaginary friend when your child and not understanding what it means like she says. Oh we're going to get married Z. Or whatever and then she suddenly in this horrifying position as an adult. And I think that's something like in drop dead. Fred is not married or whatever and I don't remember the details but just like oh we'll be friends forever or something like that and then you know they show up when you're thirty and they're like ray remember when we were going to be friends forever so I think that movie is not a horror movie but I think it might have traumatized me slightly when I saw it as a child. It's like Rick. May All the British comedian from the young ones. Who Plays Fred Right Phoebe? Cates so yeah. That was what I was thinking of. And the only other. This wouldn't be a puzzle -sarily but there's a very short lived. Sitcom called Imaginary Mary with gentlemen which is about a woman whose imaginary friend comes back and causes problems in her life. Buns that movie or that that show not as influential or I don't take anyone remembers it. Yeah I was GONNA say I haven't heard of that one but I certainly had fred though. Yeah I think I'd show maybe didn't even last a whole season for like five years ago or something like that. Well I will just mention my last one then which I think goes along. Pretty well with your setup there. Drop Dead Fred. That's beetlejuice mainly because of the The the mom being expected to marry Z. Kinda reminded me of that whole that whole you know situation there but of course that movie is so much more fun and so much more silly just like we were saying would drop dead. Fred but just the kind of troublesome a supernatural character. Yeah that makes sense and I think Tweak this movie in a way and make it kind of funny. I mean if Z doesn't really you know see him as a character short if he did show up and he looked like beetlejuice he looked like drop dead. Fred it would be a very different kind of movie yet. Final Act already is very like a weird tone shift but I mean it could get really weird if they went for the comedy aspect of it. Could I think it's the right balance? You don't want movies. You don't want it to get too weird because flake. It's got this very clear. Likes sort of slow-burn horror tone and I think. Even though the plot changes it keeps that tone and it works. Well absolutely well right on. Let's do the finish puzzle. And we'll get into some closing thoughts finished puzzle for z includes hereditary the Baba Duke oculus insidious new nightmare annabel child's play the Omen Joshua. Drop Dead Fred Beetlejuice. And of course we have just sat here and named a whole bunch of creepy kid movies. But we won't do that. Yes we could one last thought I did Want to mention in this. Of course it'd be way way way too new to be a puzzle piece but I was reminded a little bit of a lien. Ells the invisible man from earlier this year In the way that it just uses these kind of empty rooms where you just know something must be in the frame. But you don't really quite know where to look you know and I thought that's an interesting technique to use to really kind of mine a lot of horror out of really nothing there you know right. That's a great thing to us when you don't have a budget what's yours point at nothing and scare the audience. That's good so yeah I can see L. Of course involved. In the insidious movies so there's no connection there as well you know. I think for both of us. It's it's hard to go. You know to sort of separate this from our excitement and seeing someone from the Vegas Film Community have such a big success. And so I'm I'm very happy about that and I think also like I've said a couple times Keegan. Connor Tracy who I remember all the way back from Jake two point. Oh I don't know if you remember that. Show really yeah. She's she's done a lot of TV. She's a Canadian actor and I'm sure that's part of know Brandon who's from Canada of goes back and he shoots with all the resources that he can get there but she's done a ton of TV and a lot of supporting roles and has had a long successful career but she doesn't always get to play a lead role and so I just thought she really did a fantastic job in this movie and it's cool to see her. Get that kind of showcase so yeah I. I'm glad that it's around. I hope People Watch it. I mean obviously they have been but I hope more people do and if we have people in Vegas here who are interested in supporting our local talent. I hope those people will check it out as well absolutely. I think that does it Josh. Did you see anything else recently? Like to recommend. Yeah I mean I was just talking about movies on. Vod streaming that get more attention than they might have and I've been writing about a lot of those and I will mention a movie called. I will make you mine which is going to be out on. Vod On may twenty six It's written and directed by Lynn Chen. Who actually like he can. Tracy is a veteran like a character actor who's in a lot of small TV parts but doesn't really get to play lead role and not only is she the star of it but Also the writer director. It's her first movie as a as a filmmaker and it's a sort of sequel to early movie earlier movies by a different director named Dave Boyle that I actually haven't seen But it stands alone and it takes the main character from those movies. Whose kind of this scruffy indie musician and shifts him into the supporting role. And it's really about these three women who have been his romantic interests in the previous movies and how they're going into Middle Age and dealing with regrets and how they feel about him but also how they feel about their romantic lives and their careers and everything going forward. It's shot in this nice black and white. It's very reminiscent of the Richard Linklater before movies in. But I think you know not in a in a way that copies them but in a way that also deals with the passage of time and how you relate to people from your romantic pass after time has has gone on. So it's just it's like seventy five minutes long. It's a nice little sort of sketch of movie but I liked it a lot. It's called I will make you mine from Lynn Chen and it's going to be on beauty. "There which is but it's it's a similar kind of attitude that the characters have and then of course there's the fracturing of the group the one who gets kind of too enamored of her own power and feel threatened so. I think there's a lot of that similar. Teenage girl dynamic going on In the craft Which is another nineties movie and a movie that I love although haven't seen in a little while but probably should revisit. I think we're supposed to be remade. But I don't know if that's still happening. They've been talking about that a lot lately. I it's got to be in the works. I'd imagine but but yeah no that's a great one and I mean that that's one of the things that like makes it hard for me to as much as I did love the craft back in the day and I haven't seen it forever either But I don't know nowadays. Maybe it's just me. Becoming an old man is yelling from my get off my lawn but like to see these young people with all this attitude. I'm just like just cut it out. Kids you don't have you a low tolerance for teenagers with attitude. I think so. I think that's saying here and so you had one other. I have two more but a one more that I think kind of speaks to a different element of this. Which is dope the Rick familiar movie from a few years ago now which is also out very smart teenagers. Who ended up becoming drug dealers In that case they're not privileged. There are people who are in a working class or even impoverished neighborhood who were trying and hoping that their success in school will kind of rise them out of this neighborhood and they get stuck in a position where they have these drugs and they have to deal with these gangsters who were after them. But I feel like there is that that contrast of the smart students who end up using their intelligence in service of becoming criminals right away. And there's also this element in Sella in the space which is a little under explored and we never really see it the idea that they have to go to these kind of dangerous neighborhoods. In order to acquire their product and one of the punishments that sell a deals out to her kind of former right hand man as she makes him go by himself to this dangerous neighborhood and he ends up getting beat up and all of that stuff happens off screen but in dope. That's kind of like the main thrust of the story is that these people are constantly in and those characters are like maybe more likable or more fun. And they're they're less. Sociopaths like is but and that's a movie that is about characters who are obsessed with the nineties. The whole neem going on in that movie is how much these characters are really into like the hip hop of the nineties. So in fact as I was trying to remember it I thought. Isn't this movie set in the nineties? And it's not set in the nineties with the characters all love the ninety s sure. That's kind of what's going on there. Yeah this is making me realize. We covered Her smell last year. Which I also didn't like as much as you then went on to grow on me quite a bit as you know. Move forward from actually having watched it and I'm wondering if this one will grow a little bit more as we go on. I hope that it will because obviously you know it's it's a movie that I I really like a lot and I want more people to and I get nervous and like I'm recommending this even though it's overall like reviews have been very positive about it but it seems like the kind of thing it's either you're either on the wavelength of it or you're not and I'm not sure if I tell people this is great. You should see it if they're going to come back and say what the Hell did you tell me to watch that actually pretty good for God? I wrote this down. I was looking at reviews on letterbox and my favorite one was a three point. Five star reviews from someone named Andre Me and it said I don't know what they're saying but girl I am living good. Yeah I think. That's part of the stylized dialogue to you kind of you realize like people don't really talk like this but it gives you such a like immersive sense of this world and I think that goes back to brick where there's a lot of dialogue in brick where you might be like. What are they talking about here but it just you just go with it and so I like that about this movie for sure So well the last thing I'll mention is is a movie that I've talked about extensively on awesome movie year which Heather's which is my favorite movie of all time and it's a teenage black comedy. It involves the queen's Queen Bees of the school and so I feel like I kind of had to. I felt like if I didn't mention it would I would be remiss and I kind of thought that you would bring it up and reprimand me I brought. It mean girls so you could bring up. Heather's so yeah I I love Heather's and I don't think it's necessarily as strong influence some of the other things I mentioned but I do think it also has very stylized dialogue and attempts to invent its own slang and things like that and it goes in a in a different kind of direction obviously towards the end then then this movie does where I think I think tyree show is very focused on the idea of the stakes being low again the big thing at the end of the movie is like can they have the prom. You know whereas. Heather is is about like the school being blown up and everybody dying potentially at the end by but I do think you can. You can draw connection there. Do you think there's some some idiot and aboard room somewhere? Just like sitting there at his desk and going terrier suppo- Heather's remake. What's do this? Well I hope not. Only for the reason that they recently did remake heather's into the very very ill fated TV series. So I'm guessing that as a property. There's probably kind of toxic right now. And no one's trying to remake it. Let's hope so all right so I'll do the finish puzzle. Then we'll get into our closing thoughts finished puzzle for Sela in spades includes brick mean girls. Cruel Intentions Rushmore. The Myth of the American sleepover moonlight. Donnie BRASCO music videos Miller's crossing the craft dope and Heather's so I think like I said the the main thing that really stood out to me is that you know is the confidence of this. This filmmaker of this being a debut film and I think that's why even though I didn't love the movie mainly because of the characters you know I I really appreciate it for what it is and thought it was worth you know we're talking about and you know I've read your review and I could absolutely see the things that you're connecting with and I think I think there's a lot a lot great going on in this movie. Yeah obviously I think it's it's great and I hope more people will will check it out and won't have that in a way. I feel like a movie that provokes those kinds of love hate reactions is is positive that of people watch it and they're like what the hell no. I can't do you know that's that's something that that I am. Happy to champion so most of my favorite movies do that. I think there you go. Yeah exactly so in the end in this time when everyone is is a home and looking for what new movies or around that they can watch at home this will probably find a maybe a bigger audience than it would have. Otherwise if it came out amidst big blockbusters being out in theaters and stuff like that so yeah I think it's a great movie like I said it's my probably number two for the year this year so far and I can't wait to see what tyree Shapiro does next and acting too. I mean I don't know if we mentioned as much. But you know lovey. Simone who plays cell is just absolutely great and I think she probably has a really good career ahead of her as well. Yeah absolutely I totally agree with that so I think that about. Does it Josh? Do you have something else? You Watch recently like to recommend to our listeners. Yea I'll recommend another on demand released this one even more obscure movie that will be out on. Vod rental on May fifth is called Raising Buchanan of very low budget comedy about a kind of slacker loser woman in Arizona who hatches this plan to steal the corpse of President James Buchanan Ransom. It for its return and discovers that really. No one wants the corpse of president. James Buchanan returned because he's considered the worst president and so it's it's a funny character. Study about this this woman. Who's kind of loser and trying to figure out her life but the best thing about it is that after she steals Buchanan's corpse. She has these this sort of imagined. Relationship with James Buchanan himself. She talks to him and how she kind of works out her problems and stuff and Rene aubergine Wa in one of the final movies that he did before he passed away. Last year he plays James Buchanan and he is just fantastic as Buchanan to the point where I was wishing that he had done some kind of one man show where he redeems James Buchanan. So he's he's amazing in that movie which is a fun movie overall Raising Buchanan out on Maith beauty. I that sounds like my kind of movie. I might have to check that out. I hope I think like selling the space. It's a movie that probably some people will think. What the Hell is this? Am My watching it. But if you're if you're on the wavelength you will enjoy nice. Nice her well. Why don't you tell people about where they can find your writing and awesome movie for me? You can find me. Josh Bell hates everything. Josh Speidel, Vermont player who suffered brain injury in car accident as recruit, scores on Senior Night

"Five years ago Josh bell was one of the highest recruits ever to land at the university of Vermont he was a highly recruited basketball player and then he suffered a traumatic brain injury in a car accident when he was a senior in high school shortly after all right the three star recruit committed to playing in Vermont well the prognosis was not great in any way shape or form in fact his parents told him by his parents were told by the medical staff that he should be prepared to they should prefer him to live in a permanent vegetative state right and he has made a remarkable recovery credible and through those to Vermont because they they maintained a scholarship and honored his scholarship and last night senior night he made his first D. one start and registered the first points of his collegiate career in a match up against all the I mean incredible obviously it was it was you know they talk with Albany about at Albany you know the tip off they scored and then the Vermont comes out with the ball and they get it to to Josh by dell and any makes a laugh and you know then give talks from everybody his teammates his team the opposing team everybody for just an incredible story of just that tragic moment and I just think of it as as a parent seeing your kid and being told he may be in a vegetative state for the rest of his life and just when you when you see the highlight and see him out there you know doing what he's doing it's just it's just unbelievable it is and that was what's trending brought to you by PSG nobody makes golf clubs the way we do period so Josh white all got on the court made the first basket and then it was was asked about it after the game and actually had a tremendous line about what's what thought process went through his mind I was thinking about maybe like Mr Napier Avenue again no offense a rebound in there well you know I'd be on my go go one for one hundred percent my college career so you know it's you know it's a dream come true

"josh bell" Discussed on Piecing It Together Podcast

"In writing welcome to another episode of piecing together the podcast where we take a look at a new movie and try to figure out what movies inspired it so super inspired by by everything about Rudy Ray Moore and the dolemite movies and and so I think it's almost like don't know about you any movie that you could say you know Ed Wood as an inspiration for the movie that's probably a movie i WanNa see yeah yeah I think so there's definitely like I do have a fondness maybe not to the degree that you have a fondness for the room I do have a fondness for these kind of weird figures who make movies out of their own strengths dramatic regardless of their talent you know someday will probably have a neo breen bio-pic and I will watch that look forward to that so I'm just going to say right up front that much if not all most of the rest of my puzzle pieces are going to be thou the kind of do it yourself aesthetic of this movie and and so I just starting right at the front I'm going to go with a movie that normally I try not to look at the same director but I'm going to look at Hustle and flow I had that on my list to absolutely I mean once these characters starts I guess in a way it's like once you get the bug you know and you just get into the act of creating and you just it just gets to be fun and I know that very well remind own personal you know everything I've worked on in my career but once you once you get into it you really get into it and you just have fun with it and it doesn't matter that be the resources aren't there maybe the talents even really there but you know there's just so much fun to that and it's just so infectious to watch them like just coming together and just figuring this stuff out as they go yeah I agree and I I did have that on my list and I think that was a movie that really captured that very well I mean I remember time that came out it was a big debut for Craig Brewer and he's had kind of a rocky career since then I think this is his first feature film in quite some Yeah Yeah so I'm glad to see him him back doing that but yeah hustle and flow just had kind of energy to it and not only I mean it was his first film but it was also a big breakout for terrence Howard for and for the song that ended up winning an Oscar and like I said I'm not a hip hop fan really at all but that was a movie that could draw me in as someone who doesn't listen to this sick and convey the like infectious enthusiasm it's hard out here for a pimp ringtone isn't that true but I remember liking that even though I mean I think me a lot of times what I the way I feel about songs and music and movies is that I can come out of a movie and say like how that had really great music and that doesn't mean that I would ever actually listened to the like on its own but in the context of the movie I was really into it and I definitely felt that way about the music in in Hustle and flow and also the music in dolomite in the original dolemite the one I feel like the one technical aspect that the original dolemite does really well is the music yeah those are some some serious session players it just making that just straight up funk music fantastic yes it is well what do you got next Well the next thing I have kind of goes back to your pootie Tang pick which is a movie that was clearly influenced by dolemite and thus now has influenced this new film and that is black dynamite in which I think we talked about on a previous episode when we were talking about the veloce pastor sure the best film of two thousand nine you heard it here folks yes but I think like you were saying with Pootie Tang when I I saw black dynamite when it first came out in two thousand nine maybe I saw it at it was actually the biggest film festival here and at the time that I saw it I had never seen a blaxploitation movie I think.

"Today on the show we're doing some we don't do very often recovering a netflix original movie we are of course talking about Dolemite is mine Aim starring Eddie Murphy about Dolemite Rudy Ray Moore of course and the classic blaxploitation movies and is a fun one let me tell you that I had such a great time with this movie I know complain about Netflix originals all the time on social media in our popcorn born and puzzle pieces group but credit where credit is due I really enjoyed this one and luckily got to see it in the theater thanks to our Buddy Josh Bell who also oh hosts episode with me today so that is great that I got a chance to see it in the theater funny enough it's probably not one that needs to be seen in theaters it's just a sweet little comedy but it was still great to see it so before we jump into it I want to remind you as always to make sure your grabbed piecing it together on your podcast App of choice you can rate and review us on Apple podcasts you can follow us on social media at Piecing God join the aforementioned popcorn and puzzle pieces group where we continue the conversation about all these movies that we talk about on the show and the you know just generally say hi and get in touch with those let us know what you think about the show because we always love hearing from you guys so You know without any further ado I say let's just jump into this one today let's talk about Dolemite is my name all right so today on the show we are talking about Dolemite is my name and with me is Josh Bell. How's it going Josh going well how are you I am good man I'm good and just enjoying this awesome movie year what yeah we were just recording awesome movie or so I figured I'd give you guys a little plug there oh that's so nice view this has been a good movie year it hasn't been and there's been some awesome movies it most certainly has been yeah and you know I guess we'll as we get into our wrap ups and stuff which will become and just like a couple of months here on there will be few net flicks movies and in the you know the conversation they shouldn't even though I rally so hard against Netflix all the time I know you do I know but this is one that I actually really enjoyed so did I you for that because I wonder if I'd have enjoyed it as much or if I'd have been playing on twitter the whole time or something because my attention span but yeah that is that is problematic I actually liked this movie but I came out of it thinking like it's nice that I saw it in the theater but it's kind of the kind of movie that could've been perfectly satisfied to watch at home yeah absolutely it's it's not like a lot of times when when these movies come out you know and you you you get the tweet you know the takes immediately and it's like see it in the big screen possible I think you're right it's not nest sairy but you know for me and my attention span it's always good to see movies in the theater when possible glad we got to do that yes absolutely so dolemite is my name side from just being Dolemite we talked about this at the screening about how the dolemite movies aren't necessarily the greatest movies in the world they're just these refund things from back in the day and aside from this this this Guy Rudy Ray Moore and his story is his life story we'll be story the other big story of the movie is Eddie Murphy Yeah No I think people have been saying that this is sort of a movie about how Eddie Murphy's career in a way well even though I think wordy raigmore had a very different career Murphy has enjoyed much greater success and retire claim for a much longer period of time and for good reason yeah absolutely but this is a bit of a comeback for him in that he hasn't been particularly prolific in the last several years and the movies that he has made have been very poorly received absolutely yeah and I feel like like in these this time that he hasn't done that much everything he's done has been almost like a like oh look he's back and he's gray that was lost the allegedly but I feel like there were other things around that time that he was getting praised for but yeah I guess John Comedies kind of like Norbert and Norbert was like a box office success story then there's these other dreadful high concept comedies like meet days yeah that are terrible but also not successful yeah and then a handful of a movie like I think he's maybe even his most recent movie called Mr Church which was kind of serious true life drama that I never saw but again was just like horribly review yeah barely got a release that's right that didn't net did not do very well so I think is weird 'cause dreamgirls was sort of like a new height for him and he got nominated for an Oscar and it was so popular and successful and then he followed it up by doing nothing good yeah like thirteen years yeah almost like an Adam Sandler kind of thing going on but now he's got a big huge role the little because we talked about it and I think probably on your list so I'll steal your thunder and mention the disaster artists yes the bio pic about Tommy was so lash the making of the room and like you said the dolemite movies and I've only seen the original dolemite which is what's focused on in this movie and there were some maybe one or two sequels and also ray Moore made a bunch of other similar movies that weren't specifically about dolemite but had a lot of the same sensibility to them and I've only seen that original but it is I would say like the room of blaxploitation movies right it's very bad and it's very bad in a way that is so unique to Rudy Ray Moore and you watch this movie and you think there's the only way that this could possibly have been made is as the weird vision of this one guy who is the bane creative force he didn't direct it but he's the CO writer He created the character of Dolemite and he's The star of it and the movie is designed to showcase him sometimes to his detriment and I think that was exactly what happened with Tommy was so room and that's a movie that went on to have a big cult following as dolemite did and people look back on it now and they have a lot of affection for Tommy was though as in-cabin to Rudy Ray Moore in his later years and it's so both the disaster artist andled his name look at the making of this bad movies and everything that kind of haphazardly happened with a sense of affection sure like giving credit to these people like hey maybe these were bad but these were people who didn't have a lot going for them they didn't have a lot of resources they didn't have a lot of support but they had passion and they put these movies together no matter what they're similarly constructed yeah I think I think another parallel to the disaster artist is just the way they as you know as you're watching your kind of you almost are wondering like like why didn't people just give up on him but he just seems to suck people in you know and that was exactly what was happening with time it was so I mean people just it was almost like they couldn't leave they just had to see it through you know no matter what was going to happen and no matter how just crazy and ridiculous a guy during the making of these things right right and I think another thing in the disaster artist you see these like loving recreations of the most ridiculous moments in the room and you have that here too recreate these bids from from the original dolemite and perhaps the only disappointing differences that Rudy Ray Moore is not around shore appreciation the way the Tommy was Oh yeah absolutely but I think he felt some love especially from the hip hop community and stuff like that yeah all right I'm going to go with my first puzzle piece I'm GonNa Kinda jump around here I wasn't going to start with this but just because we were talking about that appreciation and the hip hop community and also we're talking about those re-creations jeans so this is one of those weird ones where it's like we're a movie that's like either a longtime sequel or based on a true story whatever one of those ones that the thing I'm going.

MLB All-Star Game starters election begins Wednesday at noon

"I did not know that there was an all star selection process until i happen to listen to multiple game so this is kinda my evening routine now i loved to listen to games on the radio and since i only get a limited number of games on my t._v. package i can get them all on the radio when i skip around so i listened to astros pirates listen to red sox white sox last night i spent some time listening to dodgers diamondbacks and every single game that i tuned into they mentioned the starters election which begins today at noon eastern time and runs through thursday afternoon so it's only twenty eight hours that's your entire window but you get to pick the starters for the upcoming all star game it's called the starters election the all-star starters election that's quite a hashtag set us up almost all of your characters on twitter so the ballot will go live either on m._l._b. dot com or you can google it simply the partnership with google maybe that's why they changed the process because they needed something unique for their partnership with google so you get and it doesn't matter how many votes the players got to this point all of that gets thrown out the window and they're on a clean slate so for instance first base in the american league luke void carlos santana c._j. krone for the twins you get to pick and it doesn't matter that voight had the most number of votes to get to this point nationally freddy freeman josh bell anthony rizzo doesn't matter that that freeman had two point two million votes he's only going to be the starter if he gets elected now if it dawned on me we already see this as a bit of a popularity contest right so gary sanchez catcher in the american league had double the number of votes of the next guy on the list james mckenna the white sox double the number of votes so it seems to reason if he's already gotten that many votes that if most of those people then show up at the the election at the bow doors the ballot box then he's gonna end up winning anyway so i'm i don't know it feels redundant but maybe that's just me so if you want to be part of the all-star starters election process you now get the chance to pick the starters and the game of course is coming up at progressive field in cleveland a couple of weeks from now let's just just shy of two

76ers' Markelle Fultz Injury Diagnosed as Neurogenic Thoracic Outlet Syndrome

"While back had this last year when Jared I cough who basically missed the entire season came back at the end for the Phillies couldn't pitch and kept having numbness in his fingers. This was one of the first things that was brought up and thought so what's bizarre to me. Is that Marco Faltas seemed you could probably just you probably need to hold room of people to count on their fingers. How many doctors he seen over the last year or so how did this go until now without anyone realizing it's a very bizarre situation. I'm not going to sit here and tell you this ally, and he doesn't have this because. Doctors diagnosed doctors diagnosing it. It's just doesn't pass the the makes sense test. If that makes any sense there's just a lot going on here. Ten doctors to find this. Why couldn't they why did they have all the shots that he took a shot over the summer? I think there is a chance here folks that we are dealing with an athlete that does have something going on. But also has the it feels like we're Foltz comes up. It's like a it's this or it's about well, the Rasic outlets singers, a weird thing where you you don't even really know what you have and you kind of feel numbness. Sometimes you don't feel right. At least that's the way pitchers describe it as they're going through the process that kind of is what faults has been saying like, I feel good. Sometimes those times, they don't it comes and goes that that does go along with this syndrome. But I also think because he's been sore Radic. He is psych them out himself from being able to do things even if he physically can he might have the NBA injured. We might have the double whammy here. With Markelle Fultz eight eight seven to nine ninety four ninety four apparently is heading to Los Angeles to continue as rehab. So he's not going to be around the team. Let's talk to Mike in West, Chester. What's up Mike there? He goes, Mike and western what's up Mike Johanns in good body? What's going on? I just wanna say it's awesome news on. James's family. That's great. It's it's awesome. Yet. Do hey, I gotta say this Joe. L of all the positives of accolades before Carson Wentz negative the interception was unacceptable. Couples Roseman especially on the sleeper. Who was he throwing it to and the one on the one he had Allstone Jeffrey wide open the end zone. And what I was at the gauge, oh, I'm tired. I mean, I love the Jesuits. But it's always you need to change. I'm glad he went to chase. All Sean deserves to get the ball more, and they need targeted more. Am I wrong? Well, I look I don't think he's ever really open mic. Now. We know he's a good fifty fifty receiver where he can kind of get the jump on box a guy box. The guy is a big frame receiver. But there's not many spots in the game. I'm like, oh, wow. What a route. He's so fast Alston's wide open. So I mean, I get it hurts is always open. I would go to him too. I'm not. But I'm happy take got involved last night. That was that. That was nice to see. And I think I'll take that. Because. You should be a new all the time. He has been opened. And like I said I was well. Maybe. Also was stand there all over again. So anyway, I'm not going to knock Corsica's I love what he did mobility. I got a question Peterson though and coach Joe, but what the hell took so long to run the ball. Like, a parody does work having you know, I'm not saying don't vote. When did that's that's how the eagles esteem playing? That's excessive not having a run game makes us team a more viable ASTA offense. So you believe well. Yeah. And they had it last year. I mean, they were balanced last your way more balanced last year, then they were you know, Turley and this year, I think makes a difference job. So. Really makes a difference. He's still Darren sproles. It's a matter of how many snaps many times you get the ball in his hand per game. Mike, I appreciate it. Here's the thing. When it comes to the run pass stuff, we overdo it. There's no one that's going to tell you. It's it's not a good thing to have you can run and pass. It makes you more difficult to defend but the reality of the NFL is easy to score points. How you do it becomes largely irrelevant. If you could score thirty five or forty points a game. No one's going to cry and yell if you do it by passing or cry and yell if you do it by running usually passing the most efficient way to get there, especially if you have a great quarterback or one you think is great like the eagles do right now. So I it's Doug Peters is always going to pass more than he runs. Always. That's the philosophy. That's the coach that's the offense. I think the biggest thing early in the season was they weren't running effectively. And now the last couple of games things are changing here. Josh Adams is running the ball actively. And I thought it's Florida the radar today as I've heard everyone talking about the game. I feel like core climate is. Starting to come on here. And and little by little show, you that he's got a little bursts back. I think he's healthy again last couple of games. This is the last two weeks ten Kerry seventy two yards. Five catches seventy eight yards. That's fifteen touches. One hundred fifty yards less games. Every time. They get the ball court Clements. Hands at ten yards per that. He he looks healthy, Tom and many except next. What's up, Tom? Hey, Joe great show. I just wanted to say this really the most encouraging thing that I saw a lot of positives. But the running backs themselves just the rotation of of seeing sprawled out for a limited amount. I'm glad tuck it and try to like throw him in there and a half you kinda take over the game seeing Clement get his burst back. But one thing that I that I noticed about Josh Adams. And and let me preface this by saying, I am in no way comparing these two I'm just saying I noticed something similar. Is that I noticed for some of the runs that he did he had that kind of levian bell ability to wait for the whole open rather than just hit it and hope for the best. There was a couple of times where you see him get to where he needed to be stop, and then continue to go when it opened up the funded the funny part of you're bringing that up Tom Izzo every time. I I watched the game. Usually when I'm especially when I'm watching at home. I'll just have my phone out kinda I opened up the notes app, and I just kinda type things out as I'm watching almost like is if I would tweet it, but it's just for me. And last night, Tom. I'm looking as I printed it out before the show tonight just to kind of think back to what I was thinking during the game. I have this note right here. It's like halfway down my sheet, and it says Josh Adams kind like a bigger Levy on bell with the patients. We we saw the same thing last night. He does have that where he just he waits more than the normal back. And I keep I keep thinking, oh, he's gonna get stopped in the backfield. But then he has an ability to kind of get going again. Right. And I think you saw that a lot last night. And I haven't I mean from an eagles running back. I can't remember, you know, maybe shady McCoy. But he was more of like a stat back. But but seeing I just really notice it last night where he would wait for that whole. And then he had the first to go through it and pick up additional yard. So that was really promising to see. And again, I don't think anyone's gonna confused Josh bell right now. But she keeps looking like that that's really promising to see not just the physicality of it. But the smarts of when how to play against the defense. It is. It's a good point, Tom and a good car. I the thing I like about it is I like running back groups that have different kinds of backs and sometimes you can have it. Sometimes you can't you're not gonna complain. If you have to good backs, and they're similar, but the eagles now are starting to have that they have right now you'd say small what is completely out of the rotation. Magus sprawls is back so three backs. They have now you have the big Josh Adams kind of more like the bruiser. But he's got that patients. Like, we were just talking about there that patients like a on bell. Then you have an again, no one's comparing him as an athlete or a talented levian. But just kind of that that style you have Corey Clement who could do a little bit of both you strong, but he's also much more explosive than anyone gives them credit for and then in the screen game last week's has been outrageous. And then you have Darren sproles that we know could do a little bit everything and can block and could get out and in catch passes those kind of trios of running backs. I like that. It's it's not there's no Sar here. But there's a good. Group right now. John del ran is up next on W P. What's up, John? John, you are you ready to talk, buddy? John are you here? John. But John to get himself together. I love in the app, it's eight eight seven
