"The Simmons for that type we are going to break so I'm just going what geo said okay that's not an option I don't care he traded this and he's like I am and I am looking at geo Josh Anderson Josh Anderson I I see that your goal let's see huge upside and Josh Anderson I I that's just me I I see a massive upside it in in this player sorry to listen he's a he's a he's a really really he's a big man and he's fast he's so fast and I think that he hasn't even come close to touching the ceiling in which he's going to play and right now he's having a business season because of some injuries or an injury that he's had this year that's kept the mo twice over the line up the start this season and in the last month and a half but why not buy low on a player I mean he you're not buying a low when he just court twenty eight goals last year you're gonna buy buy low on a player that has not played well the Columbus blue jackets are playing well as a hockey team so they might be thinking we're we're gonna have to pay Josh Anderson and we don't want to have to pay him so he might be the guy on the way out I would be I would be standing right at the front door of the the Columbus arena waiting to carry that guy's bags to buffalo what I see is a player what are the Sabres have to do to beat the Colorado Avalanche tonight will give you that answer when we when we return because they have a list of injuries here of key players stick around.

"I got to sell this to buy sell trade is Josh Anderson is worth and I feel like I'm playing poker right now like I got to decide if I have to go all in or not and I'm I'm just gonna fold my chips on this one hi Josh Anderson is worth a lottery protected first round pick yes if your team is making the playoffs for sure in that pic is in the twenties or hire teens I I yeah I'm gonna get you listen I agree with that I think anything above like you know anything above you know what twelve pack two twenty I I would trade that pick all day long but what is this very hard for me once you start getting in the top ten I think top tens can be very very let me ask you some very very important to your organization at the NHL draft years ago little Amorello traded the ninety the undrafted ninth pick overall for Cory Schneider okay and that ninth pick overall ended up being bold format if I'm if I'm remembering correctly I'm like ninety nine percent sure was bowl or about that was involved in that and I guess my question is I don't even know why it's relevant is hot how do you think that yeah how do you think that deal looks now well I mean in the I mean it's very very difficult to go back and say what if you know what if we win the made that trade does that mean we're picking bow horrified probably not you know I'm saying we don't know that right you just don't know its you know right now we need forwards not only do we need forwards we need certain types of forwards that can integrate with our skill set of an old person and I call a Ryan heard as Skinner these are highly skilled players on our roster which can have the same type of players you have to have some players that do certain things well that can integrate into the overall team success and I I believe that a player like Josh Anderson I'm not just saying I'm just saying yeah a like Josh Anderson is is is I think a player that is needed in in the Sabres now roster right now granted I need I need to say that I think that in order to get Josh Anderson I think it might be more than a first round pick but it all depends on if you're the Sabres it's a top ten picker all the headlines on the pic I mean depends on the pack and you know what this is where we're not GM's and worse spit balling here he would want a young player like don't you think that call to give us a lottery protected pick and no no honey on cloud and I'm saying maybe instead of I mean maybe if you don't know what your pick is going to be this year you have Casey middle stat in the minors would they call for Casey middle Stadler give if if Chasin botch role is calling for Josh Anderson does Columbus telling what they want or does he say here's what I'm willing to offer yeah listen I and I and I only have the capabilities of being a well I guess I'm asking you in that in in your situation in your position then pretend you're the general manager I I mean exactly I'm not expect that I first of all I really I mean hearing this today from who who is it again there that horse liar now forced line very athletic right okay so he's reputable and when you have a player like Josh Anderson that is available or possibly could be available I would be extremely interested in in seeing what it would take to get Josh Anderson out of Columbus number one this is the time to do it because the team going into the all star break was sixteen two and two they're playing exceptionally well with out this player if you want a cash in at the end of the year he better get Roland and he might not be doing it in Columbus if he's going to be in a tough situation I mean you know he's not going to I I would I would hundred percent be be trying to figure out what would it cost to get Josh Anderson from Columbus he is a player that is exactly what the Sabres need they they absolutely need this type of player he is extremely fast he would be one of the fastest forwards on our team at six foot three two hundred and twenty five pounds we all know that he has the ability to hit and grind and play a physical style but we also know that he has a he has a great skill set and can score goals can you answer the buy sell trade buy sell trade Josh Anderson is worth a lottery protected first I'm gonna trade this and the reason why I'm going to trade it you never trade and I never trade and I have literally never trade how many years how many years of I like Josh Anderson I told you two years ago that this is exactly what we need right remember that yes we discuss that for a long time I still believe that he is he is a great asset and he he's at a point in time in his career where I think that he is god his best years coming in the next five years right right right right away right away I would not want to trade a high first round draft pick for him but depending on where the the pick is it's it's it's a tradable first round pick for me for Josh Anderson okay interesting with trade deadline just about a month away talking about first round picks available other players that are available but Goshen and Evan Rodriguez not playing tonight lenis hallmark will get the start here after the all star break Sabres host the Ottawa senators seven o'clock puck drop six thirty pregame show right here on MSG six o'clock on WGR five fifty and we will be right back with the little game preview and we want only come back once.

"For a sabres playoff game. Unfortunately, but we are down here for the frozen four and five o'clock, you're going to see Minnesota Duluth verse versus providence at five as I mentioned and eight thirty pm. Umass verse Denver, and that all takes place down here as I mentioned that the key Bank center. And I know you're going, I know their tickets still available probably walk up and get some amazing hockey, you're going. Yes. I am. Yep. Very excited bringing the bring the kids like the hockey team on your team. No, well, I'm hearing both boys. Both my boys. Super excited any other boys from the team going, you know. That's the I for specially. Well, both teams that Mike is Ron one ones turning fifteen in the other just turned eleven and both both kids are super excited. And I would imagine both of their teams. We'll have a lot of players. That's the age. I mean, I I don't think people understand like it starts younger for like, maybe the FINA GMs. But that's the age where hockey hockey took off for me. I mean was fifteen when I moved away from home, and you know, like you have to start deciding college or OH L. But I mean, I feel like when you grow up in Canada, you already know where you're where you're destined to go at that age. I mean, not a lot of college talk back when I was when I was younger, you know. And it seems now that college hockey is absolutely just exploded. I mean, it's and it's it's good to see because of the lousy. We've mentioned kids develop at different. Stages so they can develop a little little older in their in their hockey. And and maybe get a chance. When when I grew up going through the system when I was seventeen years old, and I was drafted to the OH L. Basically the kids that went and played college. We're usually the kids that were late bloomers number one. And number two. They were the small guys. There was the small kids back back in the day. When I was drafted your you drafted players on size. Well, I was thinking about this the other Paul career for me was the poster child for college hockey. Yep. And you know, when you're thinking about a Canadian kidding born in BC, and he's going to play hockey at the university of Maine, absolutely tear it out who do you play with you. Remember who he played with his linemates? I think it was the Forero brothers. Do you remember them Peter and Chris heater and Chris Forero, and they ended up having a Cup of coffee with the Rangers played a little bit in the NHL. But those again, those two players they're highly skilled players, but very small very small guys. They they weren't drafted to the western Hockey League or the OH L the players that typically went college where the players that were a lot smaller and things have changed in a big way. I mean, the path. To continue in hockey. I'm not saying the path to the NHL because that should not be the focus of any young hockey player. The the the focus should be to continue to get better. At what you do you have to put the time and the effort in to give yourself an opportunity. But nowadays, if you went college you had a three percent chance of playing in the National Hockey League nowadays twenty five years later. I mean, you go to college you have just as good opportunity to play in the National Hockey League. The players coming out of the I can't sit here and bluff that I know the rosters for Minnesota Duluth in providence. And UMass in Denver, but I can tell you that there will be a couple players on each team that will play in the NHL kale McCarthy here Gayle McCoy. The hobey Baker award winner. Probably could've played in the National Hockey League. This year chose to go back to to UMass. He's had an unbelievable season. And he is going to be super dynamics ear down here at the key Bank tonight. Then you will definitely. Drafted out of the junior league wasn't he s he was he was a defenseman slash forward. He played D, but he didn't really play D because he had the puck all the time. To- dragon rushing up the ice and the knock on him. Was he wasn't playing in a in a in a tough enough league? They were saying to really get a sample size of how good he's going to be. But this year, he went to UMass, and he has been he has been the real deal. He will whatever happens here tonight. You know, he's done in college because he going hundred percent hundred percent. I would I would I would bet my boots right now that he is going to be going to Colorado. Directly after his his season here, and he will not play in college. Again, all let everybody out there. No riveting into like this. He's betting his boots. They're nice wheels. Today's got the nice jets on he pulled out a nice pair of. And he's playing for there's a kid playing for providence to sabres draft pick from two thousand seventeen defenseman Jacob Bryson has had a pretty good year. I just saw is doing some media stuff down downstairs that might have been yesterday. So there are this is fantastic hockey. So if you're if you're free tonight sounds like I'm asking you on a date, but if you're free tonight, five PM, Minnesota Duluth versus providence. Umass versus Denver at eight thirty in the frozen. Four other stuff going on unbelievable night in the playoffs. We'll get to that. I mean. I could I could start there. And I feel like the playoffs last night were just eight did not disappoint. Wow. Got some. We it's far as I'm concerned. We got some upsets here. No big upsets well to start the series our law. Hey, Joey fun. We talk upsets, we talk about teams that foreign example, you have a powerhouse team that does not lose. And they've got all of the big boys and they're up three nothing and they're dominating the game. And within a blink of an eye. You've got a four minute penalty to Columbus. Now. They're really done what they work their way back into the game. They're trying to kill off a four minute high sticking penalty. And you've got our boy, Josh Anderson, Josh Anderson, sniping, one of the one of the best goals you're going to see in the Stanley Cup playoffs. I know it's only day one. But I'm gonna tell you right now we could be in day twenty five and this is still going to be one of the best goals. Josh Anderson ties the game for Columbus. And and then you have you have the overtime goal. That was absolutely brilliant brilliant. Or not an overtime goal. But. Columbus ended up getting a power play and beautiful pass by Aaron and the Seth Jones snipe from the point what an unbelievable comeback for Columbus. Just Tampa Bay right now is sitting in the locker room going what what just happened here. I don't understand what just went on. But that's the playoffs. I got they got taught st- they got they got Josh Anderson brilliant, Burlington, Ontario. Just I don't know why felt like mentioning that just over the border. I don't think I don't know. How many NHL players have come out of Berlin two years ago? Two years ago. We as we did coach coach GM's wanted, Josh Anderson. Huge huge talking about offer sheeting, Josh. Actually, if you go back years ago, people that are listening. Josh Anderson was one of the guys he's a big six foot three two hundred twenty pound guy that is really blossomed into a beautiful player. I think he had twenty seven goals this year. But he's also a guy that plays the game. Right. He's he's defensively responsible. He's he's he's fast. He's physical. He can drop the midst. It's not not a fighter. No one's really a fighter in today's game. But this guy can drop the mid-seas just a full meal deal. He's exactly exactly what the Buffalo Sabres would want in a player. I think we have a lot of talent. We've got incredible talent on our team with Jack Eichel and Sam Reiner guys like Skinner and we've got the fast Connor shears. But we need that we need that meat and potatoes guy that still has the high end skill that can still play the game at a quick pace. That's going to add a little bit of heaviness and muscle to our. Lineup. And I'm sure that new coach would probably like the same. And there are some quotes from Elliot Friedman's. Thirty one thoughts just tuning in instigators, Andrew Craig on WGN five fifty MSG were down the key Bank center. And I'm not gonna hide it. If you're watching on TV my hands are freezing. Yeah. I'm called I called right now. You know, what I'm not ashamed of you. Do you have your Timmy's this morning? I had two of them. Yeah. I had to coffees. You know, like. That is a little bit much, but I don't have any more throughout the rest of the day. So it's just normally the two in the morning. Hey, you what you gotta get your energy up and some days, you're dealing with you or mardi or JJ. You never know. You got always be on your toes. So hear the quotes from Elliot. Thirty one thoughts much of this predates botch will but this'll be the sabers fifth coach since Lindy Ruff was fired in February two thousand thirteen. What is he looking for? We're open to anything botch. Replied, you're certainly looking for someone who has command of the room that presence in the room. We have skill. We need to continue to develop that within our organization. Bring some more in we wanna play fast uptempo style. We wanna get our defensemen up in the play. But it is as much as we wanna play that offensive game. It's having a little more structured defensively that's a big area where we can have improvement. He added that internal debate is not about experience. We're looking at someone who has that communicate of communicative ability. Okay. Thank you very much. I appreciate the help their glass. All right. Has that accountability? Has that presence? That's why we're going to be looking at all different options. It's believed that they have a list of about three that they plan on interviewing and they want to they want to keep Steve Smith. Absolutely love your idea of keeping Steve Smith talking about experience. He's been through it all, but there's a lot in there. And I'm sorry for reading it, all and. Here. Lebron Pierre LeBrun story rip here. Lebron sources close to Tom o'cl say the free agent coach has not yet made his decision remains very much interested in both LA and buffalo opportunities McClellan slated to meet with the sabres brass today. This is yesterday kings. Meanwhile, remain hopeful that they can get them. We'll see. So there's there's a lot to digest there. I just take in key words that that were that were said bye bye botulin. You know, I like the idea of being open. You know, what are you looking for? They're looking for someone that's going to command the room. Does that mean that the guy that's going to be brought in has already coached has been around the National Hockey League? And. Coach five hundred games in the NHL. No, they're looking they're looking they're looking for someone wherever he is. That's going to command the room. That's number one. You want a presence? The guy that's gonna walk in the room is going to grab this locker room immediately. Once he steps foot in and it's going to be from body language. It's going to be from the how he talks and how he speaks to his players, and he's going to command and and own that room reputation. We talk about our organization in general. We're talking about the need to continue to develop our players. We're not a team right now. We're not Tampa Bay. We're not teams that have already gone through that process. We are in the process, we need to continue to develop our players, you need to have someone that has the communication skills to work with these young guys and continued to build not only the skill set from these guys, but the energy in which these guys come into the rink every day, you want you want to have somebody that that pushes these guys that that gets in their minds that they wanna get there early. They want to get to the rink because it's enjoyable and they can see improvement in their games..

And there was a heck of a scrap in that game between Pinera and Charlie McEvoy over to the NFL the final day of NFL negotiating period is today and free agency. Officially begins this afternoon at four PM. Tune into one bills live from noon to three with Jon Murphy and bills insider, Chris Brown for the latest. It has been reported that giants have agreed to trade wide receiver. The jets are set to sign. Former Steelers running back levian bell to a four year fifty two point five million dollar contract. He ranks first amongst wrong running backs and touches rushing yards. Seeming yards and yards from scrimmage per game. That's your sports update. I'm Andrew Peters. Back over the instigators. Craig rebate data's today. I do not you're gonna tell me right now. I'm gonna I'm gonna tell you right now. I don't know which order to give this to you. Go there altera. Well, no, they're not to the second one's pretty good national good Samaritan day. That does not apply to you national canine Veterans Day. There's a good one national open umbrella indoors day. I was always wondering if we had a day for that. That was one and here's one national earmuffs day do people still wear earmuffs. Only the young kids when their dads swearing, but here. Yeah, there's a movie a movie reference from from old, man. River over there to dry when it comes to the movie. What is that? What movies that old school old school? Yeah. It is old school instigators as I mentioned tweet at Greg Raviv, fifty two at the instigator seventy six and not the instigators if you want to get in on the conversation can call a Saito three oh five fifty eight eight eight five fifty to five fifty beauts. Forward Maddie is gonna join us at eleven thirty talk about their big game coming up on Sunday. They're off to the finals. And she scored a goal in the second period, and it held up to be the game winner. So they won four nothing against Boston in front of a packed house here at the harbor center. So we'll talk to Mattie. It's your second go around with the instigators, and we'll see if she can redeem herself that being said redeem yourself savers having scored in two games. They got stonewalled by Ben Bishop who is absolutely phenomenal last night. It was Alexander knee Landers first game this season with the sabres. Ribs is writing his lineup lineup down. There is that for next year. Is that for tomorrow? No next year. I mean, why why I mean? Well, we only have ten games laughter. Twelve games left. Why not worry about the roster for next year? Before we get to talking about that knee Lander last night. There were a lot of people that might not have been able to tune in at ten o'clock to hear our thoughts. I just I thought it was just a a game. I mean, they played little over thirteen minutes. Nothing. I thought he was solid. You know, he's he's a good sized body that that's got nice, skills and skating ability. It's not like he was gonna come in and score two goals. And wow us, but you know, listen, I mean, he. He he didn't disappoint me. He didn't. Wow me. But he didn't disappoint me. He's he's an ice hockey player. That's a very very young hogging. He's twenty years old and he's continuing to get better. But. He played somewhat like the sabers did last night, Dino, very underwhelming. And just couldn't seem to kind of get anything going. You know? I was I thought all Mark you see underwhelming. I thought all Mark was unreal. I mean there there was the big glove save early on. And we've talked about goaltending. Here. We've talked about goaltending this year at the start of the year was winning games, and it was spectacular. And then you went through a stretch where neither one of the guys could really grab a hold of you know, and and get a long run of good games. And I thought oh, Mark, you know, you know, I know they lost the game. But we're looking at some of the highlights here there were several two on one chances that he he stopped Jamie Tyler. One game made a brilliant brilliant. Almost like a three sixty pass and fed, Jamie. Ben right on the back door and across comes. All Mark, which just made a fantastic save on on, Jamie. Ben. So, you know, listen. The goaltending was solid last night. He got peppered. All Mark stood up to the challenge. You know, the the the team. I thought that the they were pretty solid defensively. It's not like they had mental breakdowns and lapses all over the ice. They just couldn't kind of seemed to garner any real offense. That was dangerous around Ben Bishop. We're talking about all Mark, and how we made some great glove saves and it took me right to Jeff's morning Email here. And he talked about Geoff Merrick on thirty one thoughts. The NHL prospect watcher tweeted out, Geoff Merrick on thirty one thoughts suggest getting rid of goalie gloves and having to blockers that would keep the puck moving and would not allow the goalie to put his glove over the puck and stop play less faceoffs less stoppages keep seeks statement going in the offense zone. Now. This person tweeted it, but Geoff Merrick said it. Jeff Merrick's was sports that I think. What are you shaking your head? Please please goalie there's a goalie that had to play with to blockers Blackburn. Do you remember that he had hit? He was a first rounder. Yes. From the New York Rangers, and he had a major nerve damage in his shoulder something so the so he couldn't I think lift is arm like this or something. Yeah. He had no strength. So they instead he had to blockers. He was playing with two blockers for a little while. I think he played a game in the NHL with two blockers. Whereas, you know. He's not in the NHL. But he was Dan Blackburn. I think was his name Dan black that vaguely sounds familiar. You were in the league. Yeah. I remember something like that happen. But but anyway. I understand where the point is. But when when when a puck is is now if there's a scrum in front of the net, the ref knows when to blow the whistle because the goal has his glove on it. I mean now if you have to blockers you just going to have a goalie like poking out with the end of his blocker or just like how does he cover it? He's not allowed to cover it. I don't see how he's going to cover it. Well, I guess that's the whole point of what they're trying to get across is. It keeps play going you like that idea. No whatsoever. Why not? So bad idea. I mean, you wanna you wanna talk about thinking outside of the box. I mean, sometimes sometimes I believe that some of the thought process that goes into trying to fix the game is so narrow minded that you can't fix anything like you. When when you're as narrow minded as no, no, no, no, no. I'm not talking about you. But I mean if you wanna throw yourself in that category. When you're narrow minded is Craig is he doesn't want to change change the rules. I think this is just ridiculous. I think this just utterly ridiculous sitting there talking about changing what what's happened for a hundred years. Plus, we're going to change and put a goaltender that has to blockers. How stupid is that like come on, man? I mean, if we're going to bring in something we want to make the game better. I mean goaltenders are elite athletes that have played this game their entire lives through generations, and generations and generations. And now we're going to sit here, and we're going to give these in handcuffs these guys and give them to blockers that does that make any. Sense whatsoever. Do not did you not hear me three minutes ago talk about Lena, Saul Mark, making a absolutely brilliant. Save on Jamie, Ben by flashing the leather and grabbing with his with his glove hand. I did hear you say that. And now we want to block blocker. Well now. Double block. Now. It's a blocker a goes into the corn. Absolutely. And now you have to go get it. Absolutely ridiculous. People have too much time on their hands. Just please stop. What kind of Matthew doing over there? I just punching numbers whose contract you signing over there. I've signed a few guys new deal guys needs new deals, and this is. What I love to do. So this is what I was talking about going into the break. Like ribs has this board in the back, and it has all the forwards and it has their their salaries, and then he has spaces. He has guys that he guys that he thinks could could not be back guys that he would like to bring in or indifferent marker color. An estimated ballpark price. I mean with this team going into next year. I mean, you hate to look next year. But here's the topic of conversation that guys are either having with their agents or other players you gotta play as well as you can earn another spot in this team. Most another spot on another team around the league. But my point is is that you're you still got to play hard for something. And they're going to be a few openings next year on this roster. I would think I would think I think there's been some guys that have been around this environment it here in buffalo for a number of years. And I think sometimes I it's it's nice to bring in new players that have a fresh beginning that are excited to start something new that have not been in the same stale environment for a number of years, and we've had some of those players, and they're not that these players are terrible hockey players by any stretch of the imagination. But sometimes I knew a new beginning for the. Team. And for the player is is something that that could be beneficial for both sides. Well, I see I see. Forwards coming back next year. Just in the forward line one two three I've Skinner and their three Reinhard forces Boca's back five contracts. Sheri's back Gerguson Larson's where it gets interesting. Scott Wilson has another year under his deal Thompson, Casey middle stat knee Lander and Evan Rodriguez. I mean, like how.

"Always check us out on the Fox Sports channel on Sirius XM. We're back after this. We'll get Anthony Davis in just a second verse to college hoops, western Kentucky's, Josh Anderson were they Deng sees. No what I'm going to say here that what you get big fellow. Why God give you all that hide? If you ain't gonna try to use it get up and contest or get boomed on forty two. Yeah. That's what I've been trying to tell you. That's it. Just starting to get your number two your Bisher boomed on forty two. You know, how you try you jump south Lakers. Brandon Ingram tees up. Lebron James for the one handed flush motives was nice. Most lebrons work last night came via passing and three point shots. But you saw a little bit of the return of his bounce. And he's after the game. He's not yet himself you're seeing comeback slowly left handed bounce path gets the alley. Exciting game last one of the one of the five games. Aim bid had that little playoff little intensity to thunder grizzlies guys on the alleyoop. That was not a good pass by Russ look at him reach backing giddy. No, I slept. That's what I used to tell the quarterbacks all the time. They used to be a positive, man. That's the bad path. No. It's not because people know what his me. Okay. Finally, T moles and magic Karl Anthony towns attack the basket dogs on nickel vuckovich like I was telling you see Karl Anthony towns won the problem to me. Me. You're telling me off the block charge selling you get Jimmy out of there and Carlisle get back to being himself. No one can argue that big cat has Flers since the trade of Jimmy Butler. So the NBA here we go. The trade deadline is coming gone. Anthony Davis remains a pelican and after considering shutting him down New Orleans has decided to allow their star back into the lineup for the remainder of the season. The NBA office was reportedly worried about the optics of one of the league's brightest stars being forced to the bench. All right, Nick, where does all of this leave Anthony Davis? Now, we've Anthony Davis in basketball purgatory for the next twenty seven twenty games, which is the pelicans to their credit. Even though it's probably against their interests are going to play them. He's gonna play in the all star game. He's going to play. We think the rest of the year for team that is not going to make the playoffs for team that is actually incentivized to lose games. And for fans that are probably. Mad at him. And so Anthony Davis what he has to stay healthy, and then see who trades form this summer because they're not going to stare guys down over the summer over the summer. He will be moved. The question is to whom. And so I think the the question on top of that is where does this leave the pelicans? And will the pelicans look back on even if the plan was to never engage in a trade with the Lakers, even if it was all just as I said yesterday subterfuge. If they were just trickle will they look back on the Lakers offer this summer, if the Celtics get bounced in the second round in Cairo leaves Tatum's not there in the Knicks. Don't get Zion. A lot of things that are very possible and say wait that was our best offer. And will they go back to Lakers and say we want that exact thing that we didn't take few months ago that exact same thing. We'll take it. Now, those are the questions del damps Mickey Loomis when he's not worrying about the NFL draft. Those guys are going to have to answer. Yeah. It's it's a tough situation..

"Right. What is the narrative this morning? It's not just that they won. It's that they put themselves in position. I think in other little thing that I saw last night was not only did they win not only someone else were able to make a shot. But LeBron look good from an athletic standpoint. Plan those thirty seven minutes. He looked a lot better. Than he did playing against a Pacers. You could see him playing harder. You could see them shifting gears getting up and down the court had a nice Allieu earlier in the game. And he's the one that started that comeback in the second quarter where they had the it was really an option. Do we hold on? Our do. We let go and very very happy star interrupt for Rondo Rondo one such a great player for so long. And he at me, he's a grudge holder now. And if you I can't say what he said, but if you re lips after he made those that buzzer beater, he had some choice words for it seemingly everyone in the arena. And that was a really cool moment for him. All right. The lakers. Don't get. They do get the big win over Boston. Sarah Cousteau will be out here. We'll talk about this and other things with her coming up next. We'll talk more Anthony Davis. That's next on this one. You can always check us out on the Fox Sports channel on Sirius XM. We're back after this. We'll get the Anthony Davis in just a second verse to college hoops, western Kentucky's, Josh Anderson were they Deng sued. What I'm going to say here. That's what you get big fellow. Why God give you all that hype? You ain't going try to use it get up and contest or get boomed on forty two. Yeah. That's what I've been trying to tell you. Oh, yeah. That's just starting to get right? You're number two. You're Bisher boomed on forty two Your thirty eight. buddy. You know, how you try you jump Lakers. Brandon Ingram tees up LeBron James for the one handed flush motives was nice. Most lebrons work last night came via passing and three point shots. But you saw a little bit of the return of his bounce. And he said after the game he's not yet himself. You're seeing it comeback slowly left handed bounce path gets the alley. It was exciting game last. It was one of the one in five games. Aim. It had that little playoff little intensity to thunder grizzlies guys. On the alleyoop. That was not a good pass by Russ look at him reach backing giddy. No, that's what I used to tell the quarterbacks all the time. They used to be a positive, man. That's the bad path. No, it's not because people know what is me. Okay. Finally, tools and magic Karl Anthony towns attack the basket dogs on nickel vich, just like I was telling you see Karl Anthony towns in the problem to Me. me. You're telling me on the block chart selling you get Jimmy out of there in Carlisle get back to being themselves. No one can argue that big cat has Flers since the trade of Jimmy Butler. The NBA. Here we go. The trade deadline is coming gone. Anthony Davis remains a pelican and after considering shutting him down New Orleans has decided to allow their star back into the lineup for the remainder of the season. The NBA office was reportedly worried about the optics of one of the league's brightest stars being forced to the bench. All right, Nick. Where does all of this leave Anthony Davis now? Davison basketball purgatory for the next twenty seven twenty games, which is the pelicans to their credit. Even though it's probably against their interests are going to play him. "For the ads on one end up breakaway per Cam Atkinson at the other end he sneaks it between the pad in the post and this once again is a tie hockey game with eighteen point nine seconds left in the second period. Yeah. Just one of those moments. It was it went from. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. To oh, no Ono really quickly on that one Camac with break. His twenty nine the season in nineteen forty one and the blue jackets tight backup. It's three three heading to the third period. But in the third as I mentioned earlier the Columbus blue jackets stepped it up starting with deaths. I'm thirty eight to go in the third three three between Columbus and the ads. Both teams to be blank rebound in front. Josh Anderson this time and went through the legs of Philip prove our. It was a harmless play from the far corner. Nick, Felino one the charge. Threw it in front and Anderson just poke at home between the legs of Philip group. Our and Columbus gets the lead back. It's four to three. Anderson seventeenth goal of the season group. Our thought that Bach was in his glove, and it was in the bible. So they're challenging offside on the zone entry for this entire play. I'm pretty sure his off side and the guilty party. I think is Josh Anderson. Reviews on side. We have a good goal. Let's something. Yeah. Conor gets it just about right? That was something. That was another big moment in this game. Josh Anderson scores a goal. But when they have demanded a replay to look at it. So that you know, they check it out in Toronto. See if it's offsides because it certainly looked it certainly looks like Josh Anderson was offside. But after they looked at it, and after talking plenty people here, Pepsi, so what happened was Anderson was off sites for just a fraction moment when they flipped the puck in and it crosses the blue line. And it's all it is is such a Bank. They play 'cause Anderson's touching backup. He's moving that left skate back over the blue line. The pucks in the air about to cross the blue line and fleet flying up the left side about to Cross Blue line too. So even though our Anderson was offside for half a second. It's basically a quick like micro-second delayed icing is what we're saying. So interesting touched backup putt comes into zone. It's good play. Anderson gets the goal at ten twenty nine Columbus goes up four to three and because the apps challenge and failed. The jackets go back on the power play in on that power play. They would get a number tally, and then they would have an empty net or late in the game. They go on to win it six to three. Let's head downstairs. Here's head coach. Derek bednarz? Nice work by the blue jackets on the back. Jack, Anthony declared. Helps to force a turnover now declare trying to make a steel right at the Washington blue line, but putt rolled in the direction of Brooks pick who's able to get to it. Now. Use the backhand, send it the length of the ice. It will be an I should call against Washington. Good job though by declare declares on one end of the ice making a play up at his own alignment. It goes back into the other end and forces Matt Niskanen to only one play, quite frankly. Jackets boot Jenner taking the face off in the left wing circle of the Washington zoo. The your Shashi Anderson around behind the net bookstore, pick make sure that it can't come out on a wrap around so legal on the far wall for noodle bar drops it off the Felino now Hance to Seth Jones shot now. Now, a risk the puck around the boards and over to the far wall. Pinera stops a clearing attempt by Washington place at the boot Jenner. On the left wing boards out the Kuchen with a quick snapshot that gets deflected goes out of play with fourteen thirty five flight here in the second period. Nice work there by the blue jackets again, they're making smart decisions in this game. They lead to nothing. But where to put the puck poodle leave it for very smart decisions. They've been positionally sound. So far. Jackets losing face off. Goes around to the left wing boards for Alex Ovechkin back to Brooks or skating in the high slot area. Now plays it up the right wing side, getting crews nets off tip behind the blue jackets net. Corpuscle will put it on the forehand. He cuts it off gives it. Now. Just couldn't get the shot on target. Now. Here comes Tom Wilson up the ice plays. It ahead large Eller goes behind the net. Into the far circle back in shot blocked by the blue jackets Winberg tried to clear the zone could do it. Jags will get the puck back in Scott Harrington looking up the ice. Michael be carries. It back to the redlining. Bottled the just as he got there. Now, he sends it in to the near wall pressure on Seth Jones puts it back along the. And we're asking went to make a move actually fell down point back behind the net to help out was Riley to defeats Oliver Bjork strength. Your tram will lifted high in the air. Said like chasing into the Washington said lack Pap behind the net, wrapped up Yorkshire initially. Now, Oliver comes off with the puck plays it to the right point. Here is David Savar across the whereas ski wrist shot. "Back to the story of Josh Anderson. The soccer genius reporter Anders Kelco new Josh in college. They played soccer together at Brown University. But then Josh simply walked away from the sport one day and enders always wanted to know what happened. So he decided to find out. So where do you wanna start? Let's start the beginning from an early age. It was clear that Josh had a rare athletic gift he was really really well coordinated this is Josh's mom, Anna Phillips warden. I thought he could be the next, you know, ballet store. That lasted one day. What I remember is that he got a loose to three said he had to dig. And that was the end of ballet, he you would not participate in the class, and neither his friend, and friend got a toothache do anything to get out of ballet next, his mom tried signing him up for figure skating, but that didn't stick either. And eventually Josh got into soccer. He was so much more fun to watch play than most of the other kids. It was like watching a dance. I still think he should have done ballet. Josh rose quickly through the soccer ranks by his early teens. He had been identified as one of the top players in the country. You know, when we were all kind of trying out. Nobody knew anybody. Everybody knew Josh Anderson was he was kind of the legend. This is Mike Rudy who played with Josh back. Then he had the long floppy hair. That was always in his face. And I never understood how he could play with it falling in his face all the time. But he would always kind of do these amazing things on the field, but was never looking to draw attention to himself and never was full of himself. And it's just a quiet gentle person from from day one. Josh was not a soccer guy. He was an artist. This is Josh's former teammate Kumi Walker, and I think that, you know, part of what makes really interesting was that he wasn't a soccer guy. But who so exceptional? Remember how Josh would dress? Yeah. Like, it actually might be like hipster now ripped up green military, fatigue pants that were way too long for him like t shirts, like small vintage old t shirts, and like flip flops any always kinda walk like he was in no rush. When he was in highschool. Josh was playing in a soccer tournament in Florida one day, there were dozens of college coaches, they're watching him including Mike Noonan. I mean, he was painting. The canvas is no question about it noon with the coach at Brown University at the time he had a unique I for the game 'cause see things that others couldn't. And then combine that with unique skill in talent is like, whoa. He's different than than pretty much everybody here. Josh was the country's top soccer recruit a talented artist. And soon to be Ivy league student things couldn't be better. But toward the end of his senior year of high school. Josh noticed that something strange was happening to him. I thought I was going into. Darker space. I kept coming back to this. Like this feeling of inadequacy and not knowing how to get past. You know, things were not. Okay. The he was just distant from us. I was violent sort at times. I remember they didn't let let me go some place. So I took a knife and cut cut myself all over and it was like bleeding after that Joshua's. Parents took him to a psychologist. He told us Jerry, and may and in Joshua that we were one of the most functional families he'd ever met. And what great parents we were in hell, mentally healthy. Joshua was and there were just they were just no problems whatsoever. And of course, he was just he was kind of the ski guide he was probably really impressed with Joshua's athleticism, and you know. You know? I don't know why he didn't see it. But he sure didn't see it. Things settled down for a while. Josh seem to be getting better. Then he got an amazing piece of news. Somebody came up to me from the soccer team in that. I you know, that you are named Vale American high school player of the year..

"Bad guys you've talked about gene Ben before. Second really nasty fight miles would powers one. And I mean, this was payback for a hit the week Freeview, and I get that. And here's the honors and your obligation is a couple of players play physical like that was an old school tough fight like when you see guys square out, and Ben is done it. We've talked about g-o-v and doing it before aren't talking about Josh Anderson a little bit. And here's someone Columbus. Blue jackets player. Big strong throwback guy. I'm always impressed with guys that don't just start fighting in a scrum where you can just seatbelt someone, and it's kinda headlock here and headlock there and just sorta wrestle to the ice the separators when you square up and he was last year Boston Columbus when he squared up was Dana char, and I can only imagine love to get Josh Anderson on the show up to ask him. What goes through his mind should give Bryan McCabe that was like in the middle of sequence. You got grab like Anderson throws down with Charles year. They both were the gloves off and there's separation like they're about as far as you. And I are away from each other. Josh Anderson goal. Pretty tough customer. You can take care of himself char uses big reach. Can't get inside the left jet. They trade Giora drops the son of Olympic Brecqhou woman wrestler gets two point takedown today. No charge tries to wake up his teammates with a t kale Charles. Okay. I'm completely comfortable doing this. What's going through Josh Anderson's mind? Like when there's ice in between, you and gloves her off and your squaring up. It's like you've just grab each other in a scrum, and you can kind of get in tight, what goes through your mind. And he did the same thing with Jamie, Bama, guys square up and leave white ice in between. That's this is as bad. Go go through my mind too. But that's that's old school, and we saw a little bit of that. And we're starting to see. And maybe it's just because we talked about this last week on the podcast you start to see playoff hockey early..

"Reduce the suspension. George perils. Did a great job. He's the head of the player safety kind of breaking down the suspension and the multiple suspension. There was a playoff one. And then a repeat offender in the fact there was an injury and kind of broke it down game by game was kind of gave the fans if you look at how they came up with those twenty games before suspend -able for time. He's been suspended within a calendar year here and a little bit more than a slap on the wrist. Here's portraying Gelo for the blues over the Columbus line shorts on the backhand, put it down low for Tarasenko Schwartz. Nearly got it back in at the blue line. Don holds in Tarasenko on the near side, all Shannon, quite a play made there by the blue jackets Ryan, he got a skate on it. And the puck comes out. Put it on the stick of the captain, Nick Foligno, though, the New Year's side, and that's Jenner Rippin a shot to a wide open net. And then Edmonson is gonna get poked at parade. Equal is gonna throw the first punch. They'll throw that in the mix with Josh Anderson down there. So John Tortorella today when he met the media, you could tell he was wanting this up he made some lineup changes. He put you know, Jenner and Anderson on a line. He he wanted to kind of get these guys saying he'd do me a favor, we at least break tend to not like some of these guys on the other side when I saw that starting lineup Boone Jenner, Josh Anderson. And Nick Felino is very clear that John Tortorella wants to come out here tonight, and he wants us tablets a physical presence. You don't start Anderson and not had that physical presence. Jake Kalam makes a save. Minor penalty. Fifty five wrapping Jay Jay, Cowan makes that glove save and Josh Anderson he goes to the net, and he starts a little scuffle with Colton Perico. And you know, what this isn't only going to benefit the Columbus. Blue jackets plays like this scrums like this. This is going to bring the best out of the player like coal Perico because you need to be physically emotionally, mentally engaged in these kinds of games, especially early on in the night to fully bring out your best night. I believe so I think this could be a good thing to see tonight for the come the blue jackets in the blues who are trying to find that kind of rhythm in urgency. I love anything that's going to try pull an edge out of the blues, especially big number fifty five. He could be a scary, man. But we've seen Josh Anderson the past he he's gone toe-to-toe chara. He's. He may not be that big, man. He is feisty heating it after. Lose you're gonna get an Amarin, Missouri. Power play out of it. If every time they score a powerplay goal. Amran, missouri. Donates two hundred dollars. The airmen Missouri power play goals for kids program. Blues with a power play chance to take an early lead. O'reilly in the near circle to the goal line out of a road. These checked by Savard. Puck comes loose sold by done in any business shot way wide from a spot. You just can't miss the net realm, and it goes all the way down the ice. He has failed clear temp for the Columbus blue jackets laser right on Vince, Don right in the high slot. They're just missed it. Completely wide to the right done. Skeets it in all the line. He did everything he could to drop it back O'Reilly swatted away with marooning on goal laid up by those actor the blue line Tarasenko. Couldn't hold it in as Luke Dewa got a piece of it'll Riley skeets it in again, drops it off the maroon maroon holds it in the near corner. Trying to spin down low passes it back to a Riley now out of the near circle the Bose aktuell Riley bottom of the circle on the power play to done straightaway left wing to terrorists Saco skates in. A shot wide bay. Scott. Tara say. Power play goal of ninety one is on the bar Zimmer. One nothing lead. Fifteen thirty Florida play here in period, number one. Well, this is a broken play here. Rhino Riley, get their shot at goes wide. Vladimir Tarasenko ends up with the puck in the corner. He's behind the goal line. He's behind the net. And this isn't an accident. This is a set play a lot of goals scores. Do instead of getting a reset up Atlanta goal and get back to your post. What you do is. You see the is sliding your poses a little bit of space. He throws it off of corpuscles back, right, leg and goes in. This is something that used to be an accident back in the day. But you'll see Sidney Crosby. Do it. You'll see mcdavid do quite a bit. And whenever that goalie isn't set throw it to his Pat his momentum as he goes back to his post. This is going to bring that Puckett terrific job there and good awareness. Breaking apart get it again. And all of the one nothing lead. They late into the middle of Easter sets. Shop room Cairo went off the glove of Musalo. All the cycle. Shed from Cairo pass Mr. comes to the nearside Bradman, Barron. He clears it up. Both Easter sets it down dishes over the nearside for Alex Tranquillo, set potential up to just get smoked any did here's Pinera. And at the hash marks download goes through. Claude jerus- said it was just they played crappy, but he didn't say the word crappy. Sharks had forty eight shots on goal. Finally, Carlson gets on the board with a couple of assists. Everyone seemed to score for the San Jose Sharks in this one. So it's a nice bounce back. Maybe the panicked kind of goes away pavonis gay couple of goals, Kane, a couple of goals little disturbing for Philadelphia after that victory on opening night in Vegas, kind of taken a little bit of a step back dropping the next two and the sharks now, and even five hundred or two and two and splitting the first two games. So far here out east hurricanes with a five, three win over the connects hurricanes unbeaten in their first four games for the first time since the beginning of the nineteen ninety seven ninety eight season. Again, tons of shots, thirty three shots on goal for the hurricanes. This is a team to watch out for we've talked about it. They're young. They're fast festival off, gets his second National Hockey League goal. Sebastian Aho gets tally as well. One of the old veterans Jordan stall picking up a win so many different players with hurricane seven different players. They revamped their goaltending and so far too showed three Owen one to start the season. The only blemish is the overtime loss to the islanders in which they threw a ton of shots on goal. This team could very easily before now, despite the loss of been sqi, the blue jackets with a nice win over the avalanche by the final score of five to to Felino DuBois getting goals in this one Panara and gets his second of the year. Felino again, finishes with two Josh Anderson gets his second of the season. Nice win for the Columbus, blue jackets over a resurgent avalanche team that was loses their first game of the season flames win three, nothing over the predators. This is one of the. Those games with a final score doesn't necessarily indicate who played the best Nashville had forty three shots on goal. Mike Smith was amazing in this game. This has happened a few times now for the flames where they've had to get great goaltending and it happened Sean Monahan now has four goals on the season, and that's a nice win spoiling the home opener for the Nashville predators, but I really don't know what else Nashville can. Do you throw a forty three shots on goal you out? Shoot. You're an opponent of game forty three to twenty seven out face off them fifty six to forty four. I'm not really sure what else you can do in the game. Clearly the flames had the two power-play goals and that certainly hurt the predators chances. But Nashville loses for the first time this year, Elliott Cobo Chuck gets his first goal back in the National Hockey League, but it's not enough as the jets win by the final score of two to one another example Winnipeg thirty nine shots on goal in this game, but the player that doesn't get talked about for Winnipeg not nearly enough. We hear about line a, we hear about shy. I flee. We hear about Wheeler. We hear about buffalo in the guy that really needs to get talked about Kyle. Connor. He was great last year scores. His third goal of the year that came midway through the third period on the power in the second period on the power play proved to be the game winner. Nice job out of the jets bouncing back after getting beaten up, pretty good over the weekend by the Dallas Stars and maybe the game in the night. The stars losing to the maple leaves seven, two, four..

The icy comes he wards off just turns bars toward the top of the crease. I think the MSCI got it in an Anderson was there for the rebound. He had to take that. With a backhand turned it over to the floor and instill was able to poke it just by the glove hand. Jimmy howard. That's a great goal of new. It's needed that for sure. Six forty five to go with the period. Darryn Hill carries back into the Gaga's zone. Take a shot and a gun broken up. Now here comes Cam Atkinson up the yard where the two-on-one Atkinson, settles down takes a John Howard is able to make the same now as he settled down already getting deep via the faceoff dot give credit to Trevor Daley. He slides to the ice that takes away the past. A Cam didn't have enough time to settle it down to make the saucer pass across he's forced to shoot. And then he's hoping for a rebound which Jimmy Howard never gave him. That's a good defensive play though by veteran. Trevor daily. Face off in the right wing circle villa? Larkin for the Red Wings Alexander Winberg for the blue jackets. This is controlled by Detroit. Get the fuck up on top of the boards and out the neutral zone. Anthony mantha. Comes around behind the net. Tries to throw it out in front almost banked it off of corporate solo. It almost doesn't count was able to cover it up. "Back to the story of Josh Anderson. The soccer genius reporter Anders Kelso new, Josh, and college. They played soccer together at Brown University, but then Josh simply walked away from the sport one day and enders always wanted to know what happened. So he decided to find out. So what do you wanna start start the beginning. From an early age. It was clear that Josh had a rare athletic gift is really, really well coordinated. This Josh's mom Phillips warden. I thought he could be the next. You know, valet store. That lasted one day. What I remember is that he got a loose two-three said is too big, and that was the end of ballet. You would not participate in the class and neither his friend friend got a toothache too. Anything to get out of ballet. Next, his mom tried signing him up for figure skating, but that didn't stick either. And eventually, Josh got into soccer. He was so much more fun to watch play than most of the other kids. It was like watching a dance. I still think he should've then ballet. Josh rose quickly through the soccer ranks by early teens. He had been identified as one of the top players in the country. You know, when we were all kind of trying out, nobody knew anybody. Everybody knew Josh Anderson was he was kind of the legend. This is Mike Rudy who played with Josh back. Then he had the long floppy hair that was always in his face, and I never understood how he could play with it falling in his face all the time, but he would always kind of do these amazing things on the field, but was never looking to draw attention to himself and never was full of himself. And it's just a quiet gentle person from from day one, Josh was not a soccer guy. He was an artist. This is Josh is former teammate, Kumi Walker, and I think that you know, part of what makes really interesting was that he wasn't a soccer guy, but you so exceptional. Remember how dress. Yeah, like it actually might be like, hipster now ripped up green military fatigue, pants that were way too long for him, like t shirts, like small vintage old t shirts and like flip flops, and you always kinda walk like he was in no rush when he was in high school. Josh was playing a soccer tournament in Florida. One day there were dozens of college coaches. They're watching him including Mike Noonan. I mean he was painting the canvas. There's no question about it. Newnan was the coach at Brown University at the time. He had a unique I for the game because see things that others couldn't, and then combine that with unique skill in talent is like, whoa, he's different than than pre much everybody here. Josh was the country's top soccer recruit a talented artist and soon to be Ivy league student. Things couldn't be better. But toward the end of his senior year of high school. Cool, Josh noticed that something strange was happening to him. I thought I was going into. Darker space. I kept coming back to this, this feeling of inadequacy and not knowing how to get past. You know, things were not okay. The he was just distant from us. I was violence of times. I remember they didn't let me go some place. So I took a knife and cut cut myself all over. And it was like bleeding. After that, Josh's parents took him to a psychologist. He told us Jerry and me, and in Joshua the, we were one of the most functional families he'd ever met and what great parents we were in hell mentally healthy Joshua was, and there were just they were just no problems whatsoever. And of course he was just he was kind of this geeky guy. He was probably really impressed with Joshua's athleticism and you know, I don't know why he didn't see it, but he sure didn't see it. Things settled down for a while. Josh seemed to be getting better..
