"You get the socks, leading the wild card. How about Kyle schwarber last night? Doggy. You bombs last night from schwarber, sale with another win. He's undefeated on the season since he's been back. So you get the socks, the wild card, race, going on right now with just a few games left. Bees, in camp, now seize and camp at about a week, so bees and seeds are starting up. The Patriots are in full swing. I mean, come on, Boston sports journal dot com. Their annual plan is 39.99. Of course you get bedard's analysis. Coaches film, weekly chats, all the good stuff, 39.99 on their annual plan. My guy Greg, do we have a bsj member question of the day? We do. And this is a simple and to the point from Patrick pendergrast, pender pendergrast. Too many screens Greg? Oh, I mean, I asked the question of myself too once I did tabulated everything and was like, wait a minute. You know, the ten screens like I kept going through it. I'm like, man, every drive there were screens, at least one, it seemed like. And so do I think there were too many? No, I don't. I thought I thought that a lot of them were really well called. They weren't really well executed. And Josh mcdaniel said in his press conference on Tuesday that they were dealing with a jets front that was very aggressive. Now, they were calling a lot of blitzes, but they were they were zone blitzing a little bit. They were really looping the ends a lot, which was causing some issues in the running game and also with the pass blocking. And I thought that I thought that they were really all effectively called. I mean, even Nick, even and we talked about it on the last pod that play where it's basically like a read option and then Mac Jones looks to his left and he's got I think it was a galore and, you know, he runs a screen and that kinds of hesitated and went for one yard. Even that play, that play normally works, and what happens is normally the cornerback goes up for the screen or he drops back. And one of them is open, either either the screen's open or Johnny Smith behind them on a slant is open. The quarterback just played it really, really well. I don't know if it was on accident. There was another play where CJ Moseley literally at the snap did not move for about three seconds and just happened to find himself in a passing lane. That wasn't a screen pass where there's just a play. I remembered. He literally hit Nick. He literally was like, it was a snap, and it was literally like one 1002 1003. And then he stood up and he put his arm in and deflected the pass and was a scene passed to Jacoby Myers, and I was like, oh, that's there. That's a good play. What the hell CJ mostly doing there? He's not even supposed to be. There was play action on the play and he literally didn't move. So I think CJ Moseley benefited by being lazy on that play or else it could have been about a 50 yard play for the Patriots. But anyways, I don't have a problem with the play calling so far. They're bringing a kid along a little bit by little. The screen passes are part of it. The Patriots need to have those disposal against faster defenses like Tampa, coming up. So I think it's all part of the plan. I've been screaming about more screens more screens the last three or four years, so I'm not. I'm not gonna start bitching now when they start throwing a lot of screens and say too many screens. I can't have it both ways. So as long as they're calling on the screens in good job by statue, CJ Mosley. The new saints one o'clock kick-off on Sunday are the Patriots going to be two in one or one and two. It's kind of a big game early on in the season because the first month you looked at it, you said, the Patriots should likely be three and one. We know week one didn't go their way. So many mistakes, they lose to the dolphins. You probably don't feel good about the Buccaneers game on Sunday Night. So if you want to finish the first month of the season at 500, you need this one on Sunday. We'll see if they can get the

"Checks. H how much longer does he have. The game compared to what cal shanahan is doing. I think that shanahan is going to have a bigger influence on what he becomes as he pro at a quarterback more than bill belichick has on a mac jones. And i think when everything is said and done. If for instance matt jones plays ten or twelve years with the new england patriots. I believe that josh mcdaniel where everybody thinks is going to be the era parent cumin. Bill check finally retired. They think if jones has successful career and if you play the majority of his tenure of his fifteen sixteen year. Nfl career with the new england. Patriots i think it's going to be josh mcdaniel. Who can have a bigger influence on these success. Personally professionally and team wise on matt jones than say bill belichick while i think cal. Shanahan is going to have more of a impact with trae lance because i think cal shallan is going to be is going to be the quarterback scores. Excuse me gonna be Is going to be the coach for san francisco. I lot longer. Now you can take a look say you know. Hey man let me tell you something right now the fact that kyle shanahan. He had that one season but other than that he hadn't even won six games. I think the most east one outside of At thirteen to three season on what you went to the superbowl with jimmy garoppolo I think that You know kyle shanahan should be facing a little bit of pressure because of it's overall record not just based on one seattle four or five of these been coach of the san francisco forty niners but the move that both john lynch and cow shanahan made to go ahead and put all the equity to move up to draft trae lance just shows you that you know what they must have some assurances with y'all to say look we understand that trains ain't gonna come out the box and be patrick mahomes right away or something like that. You know. it's going to take some time. So if it means losing some football game despite the talent both offensively and defensively that the that the forty niners around him that we're not expecting you know you're not you're not on the hot seat you don't have to win big time immediately. We put your trust in what you're doing. And we're going to give you the time to work with trae lands and let him be the quarterback that everybody thought he you know. Everybody thinks he. Is that type of thing. So yeah trey lance mac. Jones matt jones starring for the san francisco scores starting for the new england patriots. Move over. Tom brady tampa. Tom is doing this thing now. For new england the new sheriff in town is backed jones. i am.

"They're gonna take Mack Jones. I have felt that way. I'm okay. If I'm wrong, because I want to be right on that one. Should they take Matt Jones? Should they take Mack Jones day? And you watched ESPN for last three months. But of course, they should have never wavered from that. But you're saying, Dad, I hope Mack Jones goes street because if he does, Oh, where? Your honor, Come on, Okay. You're tomorrow. Yes, I have two months in the extreme for the last three nights because, well, it's more show the morning after the first round of the NFL draft complete and yes, of course, the drama continued. Shawn Jay will Zubin presented by Progressive Insurance All guests join us on the Goodyear hotline. Be sure that one of those guests will be Daniel loves. Bring them out. Bring them out. Bring them out. It's hard on here. Superheroes in your mouth. You go ahead and go ahead and take the bow. Oh, no, It's not. It's easy, manage. That's that was a layup. That, ain't you. I'm saying that's buckets. Finger roll. That's buckets on, Dan. I mean, clearly. I mean, look, man, if you watch him or better yet, you're listening to K. Jay Z. You should know better to them to think that this after school 40 Niners moved all the way up. From 12 of three and gave away all the draft capital to go get a dude that has greatly boots not gonna happen. Not gonna happen. Case McCollum Gravity boots for a while now. Gravy boats. Gravy boat. You can't move. Limited mobility. Is it the breakdown last night on the draft, And if you listen to the draft And I said it all along and in milk. Ieper said it again last night. It's the trait of who Shanahan family and company is. They won't mobile quarterbacks go all the way back from when he inherited John Elway and fast forward to when they traded up to get Robert Griffin to third. You say what they had Kirk cousins? No Kirk cousins at that time can move around. I'm not talking about Michael Vick. Move around. I'm talking about getting away from somebody chasing you. Mack Jones can't Looking like foreign and show some clips last night and I just said here laughed at my television. Mack Jones couldn't get out of his own way. He and I don't know who it was. That was on our show. That created a scouting word that I'm gonna use from here on out. He was very athletic in the pocket E don't even know what the hell let me that first time I ever heard that about a quarterback, and he said it in the pocket in a five ft radius. I don't even know it. Look, he's smart, But as I said, before, they all are smart. You all of a sudden. You hear the trade? Lance's football I Q is off the charts. That's all of them. When you play a quarterback position to be successful at any level, you have to be able to be smart and decide for all the information to retain the information that's given to you so You know, I'm glad to see the young man eventually winning 15 to a team that he's gonna have a hell of a time playing over the next couple years because I believe the guy that's starting in in Cam Newton is going to have an amazing year to share. But that's okay. It gives him time to develop. Under Josh McDaniel betrayed Lance landed in the perfect spot. He doesn't have to play right now. He could sit behind Jimmy G over the next 24 games. And so if Jimmy G is healthy, and this will give him an opportunity to learn how to play the position, Well, Kyle Shanahan, a young football team that's ready to win now, you know he loves to poke the bear. You know, all quarterbacks is smart, You know, quarterbacks like no Not every quarterback, a smart, they're different. It's a different levels of smart out here. We say the ones that have success very true. All the ones with success or smart. I'm gonna be a little bit more boisterous thinkI because he was Keys. Promo was like, Are you going to hear the whole the whole trash talking for four hours Keep. I'll do it for you. It's not about Dan bodies. Not about Dan. It's about I got receipts key. I got receipts for my damn phone from people saying at Jaffe 45. This is four weeks ago when John Lynch hit you. Yeah. John Lynch was going to Watch the pro day for Matt Jones. There was like, Oh, that's when it all started, right when we were on there. It was like this is it My turn about everybody's like there's gonna take Mack Jones. I'm like this is a smoke screen. Don't believe this. ThinkI came out and said they're gonna take Trey Lance, right? Jaffe 45. How the hell you know they're not gonna drive Mack Jones hater. You're horrible on TV. I don't see you being on the show longer. Your football knowledge is terrible. All right, So I'm walking at post Radio one NBA star MBA trying to pick peeps an NFL. You don't know what the hell you're talking about. Get off my damn TV show people coming. Whoa! Okay. How we doing? Came it Yeah, I'm gonna pat myself on the back. I'm not having a football guy. "I i thought it was maybe a level of above you. Remember you remember. Josh mcdaniel. His first year as coach of the broncos and remember the disrespectful display of enthusiasm enjoyed joy that he had when he was coaching the broncos and they beat the pitch They beat the bill. Bella checking the new england patriots. I don't know what the for the fifth or sixth game of the season. I know they jumped out of that. Shoot six an hour. They collapsed after that. But one of those games at the mile high at At denver razzano. I don't know who it was a wide receiver bill. The think they want an over time and then after the game over his josh daniel running around the running around the field leaping into the players arms do on his all kinds of nonsense and this like man. This guy know that this is the only game four or five of the season. There's a long way to go and do that. You know the beaten the patriots. The dynasty led patriots. Then and bill bell check with a big deal but come on man. I mean you know that's i mean. What are we back in college. What are we back in high school. We back in college to wear wisconsin or would go back to where something like a northwestern football team beats Second ranked ohio state in the fans rushed the field. I mean it's a little bit ridiculous so that was just a level above. I thought the enthusiasm of the cleveland. A player's going nuts. After they won that game it'd be the pittsburgh steeler team again. that should have beaten already. I mean the fact that they only one twenty four. Twenty two steeler teams played five days of our steamy five games and twenty five days. Y'all are getting all excited about that. A team steelers team that played without a starters without rothlisberger without tj. What y'all supposed to be a legit playoff team and you guys are acting like that. You allow backup quarterback racing some guy named mason the red nose reindeer the throw for three hundred fifteen yards on two touchdowns and one of the section twenty to thirty nine passing. You almost lost a game. Playoff opportunity after leading. Twenty four to nine in the fourth quarter. You guys are going to be acting like that and you guys expect to be doing something in the nfl playoffs. Really twenty four nine in the fourth quarter. They almost blew that game with off. Do a twenty eight yard pass to rookie. Wideout chase claypool. Make a twenty four. Sixteen in after cleveland's stall cleveland drove drove installed there Drive in pittsburgh territory. "And don't be surprised if he said he ends up as a quarterback's coach or a wide receivers coach or something on that staff under Josh McDaniel this this offseason Ron Rivera had to make a decision about Dwayne Haskins and he released of and going into week 17. It's a win and in situation for the Washington football team. Here's Ron Rivera. I think the big Seymour so anything else is is you know Mr started being supportive. You understand that there's something that I have to be done, and you know, he's supportive of that. So that's the best part about it on. We'll just continue that make decisions that we feel in the best interest of the football team going forward, everything coming down to this last week. I think it's very exciting that I'm pretty fired up that way. You're in this position. We've been able to maintain this position for last few weeks. E again. I just tribute to our guys are, you know they're very resilient. They play that way. Good credit to Ron Rivera. Good credit to Ron Rivera because he did take over a very difficult situation. Has them on the verge of the playoffs, so that in and of itself is that deserves a great deal of respect because he inherited a pretty messy situation. The end of the Jake Grudin saga in Washington last year was just Complete and utter BLEEP show. It has been a BLEEP show for a long time. They had a franchise quarterback that most of the staff didn't want that the owner did. And so Rivera navigating all of that, plus navigating how much power and control Snyder has. Wiping Bruce Allen out of the way in the stench of his regime. Trying to navigate. The changing of the name and then the lawsuit that was levied against dance nighter for the workplace malpractice and then also dealing with cancer. I mean, Ron Rivera's been dealing with cancer treatments or was early in the season. He's had a lot of this place or just t show up in a week, 17 and no If we win this game we're in the playoffs is a great credit to Ron Rivera. We had Jason Locke and four on the show the other day. Jail. See? Said Look, it's not cleaned up yet. There's a lot still going on, and it's going to take a while still truly clean it up. So this is not an end result for Rivera. Everybody around the league has respect for Rivera. Everybody If there's a guy that can do it, it's gonna be Ron Rivera. But can you do it? It means that you have to change 20 years of what has happened inside that organization with the same owner. Can you change 20 years of dysfunction when the same owner is there? I think there's still a lot of heavy lifting. He's done a great job already. But let's also remember that winning this division is is a is a booby prize. I mean, you're either gonna be seven and nine or six and 10. That's not a great season. But I will say that for Washington. They've navigated that with four different quarterbacks, so that in and of itself is pretty much a win. Finally Colts head coach Frank Reich. The Colts need to win and get help to get into the postseason. I need one of those 10 win teams to lose in front of them. What will happen in week 17 for the Colts. Here's Reich plan is to have the scores will not be upon you know, the relevance course will not be open that scoreboard. Is there? I just can you explain the reasoning of the thinking behind this? Attached. You know, it's a potential distraction, and maybe it's not all guys. But if it's a distraction, the one guy that Z one guy too many, so it's just better not to have him up there. It's relatives. They can do nothing to add to what we have to Focus..

"It has been a brutal year for me, my partners and so much better. Mikey about another nice play with the karma numerical bonus play last week that one hit his play this week was The Eagles and the points this weekend. And as I always say, Mike, I'll try to continue to do better. And we will both try to continue to do better. But it has been tough sledding so far in this football season for me. Yeah, You know what? I know that you've experienced a couple of issues the last few weeks and it makes you sick. There's no doubt about it like it makes me sick. As we take pride in what we do, but you know what we're still doing. Well, I gave out a Twitter pick last week. That one. I took the Rams, who are red Hot against Arizona. So I ended up going to want to carve. The Denver pick was big. I got a couple of gigantic picks. But the eagle went to me that I gave to you guys and I was going to say before the show here, but I wanted his many people. Not that we don't have a lot of listeners. And I appreciate all the support we're getting folks and people saying, Hey, when are you gonna be on and everything else on Twitter? But I said, Man, I got to give this out there in the daytime because I can't believe it's gonna be Philadelphia plus seven and and I made the mentioned that we don't Philadelphia, you talk about the Bears heaven. Play calling issues. The Philadelphia Eagles. There are one of the best running teams in football. They got a running back. They never just five yards a carry in movie Sanders and yet They wonder about 36% of the time and Carson wants is just a ruined man came. I did not cover that game last week, but it's comical. When I hear that bear fans are longing for. Carson wants The I. I used to ask Jesse Rogers. God bless him, and I know why Randy doesn't now screen calls because the people that don't make it on the year make it to Twitter. Believe me when I tell you this if you want a $32 million quarterback who's got a busted back and who thinks that there's 10 guys rushing him when nobody years and he can't throw a five yard swing past good luck to you. Good luck, you butt hurts is going to come in. And Hertz is going to run the football with Sanders and you folks, I'm telling you, it's the strongest plate I've had in a year. Amazing It is. I mean, well, who would you take it off the top of your head? New Orleans minus seven with no fans going to Philadelphia, right? Um, you know what? The Saints there's something about the saints and you know, there ain't no straight up against the spread with with their backups the last two years. I don't know. I don't know how you do that. And like part of me feels like that's gotta run out. I've been on the wrong side of the Eagles a lot this year. So I kind of my God, What is probably said saints, but I don't know. I mean, but you make a pretty compelling argument of your your system tells you what to do about hearts running. I mean, don't went to the statue, too. I mean, they may say think he can run, but he's not not anymore and I will give him hurts last year when I watched him play One. The more competitive quarterbacks I've ever seen. Never gives up, had a decent game through a bad interception, but also threw a touchdown last week and you know they didn't really get intimidated when he wasn't intimidated when he came in, and he's got a weak under his belt, so we'll see what happens. Jalen hurts. It's time for the jail and hurt. Sarah looks like in Philadelphia, and you're right. I don't know what they're gonna do with wins. He does appear to be broken. I mean, if you're Indianapolis and I said this, folks, and you know what I like to go on Twitter with this, but I always make sure I can't the columnist because they don't try to make it think it's their idea. I am telling you right now the Chicago Bears Should get rid of Maggie and get rid of pace of the under the year. Hire a new GM, But bring in Josh McDaniel Give me a second chance to be the head coach off this football team and keep Mitch Strabinsky if they keep averaging 20 to 25 points a game. I'm serious because where we're going to go if we don't after biscuit, I don't know that that's a good question, asking everybody. Nobody's got it. Not a good answer. Good answer you have. It's a guided hit a fumble. That was stripped and it's different than tucking it under your arm and being careless or holding it with one hand, it was a strip. That guy was a 108 quarterback rating last year, and it's amazing. That's amazing. I'm looking at all the columnists in this town. That study was a bust or that is a bus. Rick Calendar 23 22 bears Patrick Finley, 31 30 Bears. Mark Patty's 22 20 bears. Everybody's picking the bears, Huh? While three of the six How do you do that with the quarterback? That's a bust because he's not. And I'll tell you this. If he doesn't play for the Bears next year, and Josh McDaniels in New England. Or Indianapolis or Carolina. He starting somewhere in the National Football League. And if he goes to New England with Josh McDaniel, you're going to see a playoff quarterback. Period. Man. You are really out there with Mitch. All right, well, you out there with not Mitch. You know what? Yeah, but you don't have you know what you could say Not Mitch Carm. But when you don't have a remedy, and you're supposed to be the doctor, nobody's knocking on your door through. I mean, I don't know what the remedy is. I don't match the idea that Nick Foles has to play next year. It's kind of scary. You're right. Well, how about this? The idea that the offenses scored 55 points in two weeks. And that the defense is not getting the job done. And they almost escaped Critic criticism until this week. Let me tell you, everybody how backward the Bears are. In this 2020. Millennials? No, this worth the money supposed to be spent even with Philadelphia and wet on offense. And where do you Chicago bears spend her money like it's 1980 on defects. Mac Fuller. Quinn. You know how much money is Eddie Jackson All Eddie Jackson on Les doesn't want to get anybody anymore. He's my third favorite man the door. I mean, my God. I mean, it's just unbelievable. You don't think all your money on defense and then give a quarterback no offensive line. Ah, possession receivers, his number one guy in Ellen Robinson and a running back that got better with Tripp. Risky And if they keep averaging, 25 points a game. I'm going to call this. You see, they're going to New England. Indianapolis or the Bears are going to re sign of New England's interesting. Oh, my God, I mean, like they will be throwing up next year. That would be painful. Yeah, I'll give you all the one for me. It would be predictable guys, I'll give you all the credit in the world. If that happens next year. You know what was driving in New England. I gotta be honest with you. I'm ready to apply for the Pierce general manager ship because you know what? That the 28 years of getting all the credit in the world. I saw only gone so far, and I've made a lot of right calls when these guys I mean, I would have never given Robert Quinn $30 million Ever and the fact that they brought him in because our $146 million man needs help and that he's his shoulders or buy them because he's being chipped. Yeah, God, what is going on? I know What? Everybody's lost their mind, and he might be legitimately hurt. But that was a weird, You know, Mad magazine will his shoulders are bothering because he's chipped a lot. I mean, you know, like there's really only one defensive lineman in this league that is truly double teamed on every single play, and that's Erin Donald. He just gets through any. I like. I don't know that his shoulders air hurting or that he's upset about. I mean, I don't know the field. You're not hurt. Peyton told me that he was made about the one time that Freddy O'Connor, the running backs coach. Argued with him in the bear coaches. He's gotta sit. He's gotta sit and the coach one his way. And Peyton hated his guts after that, Freddy O'Connor because he missed one game in his whole career. And you know what he said. Mike, You never know anybody's heart and this garbage Khalil Mack. He's being shipped by to show that's you At what Awas. What are what? Why? And I don't know why now, but it's It's like almost like Maggie. Just defending a player. I guess. I mean, we can all see through that. I think most of us joke. Yeah, that that's includes got Eddie Jackson let this be a lesson to one hit wonders. Okay, because I know him. All love grows where my rosemary goes by the Edison Lighthouse. OK, incense and peppermints by Strawberry Alarm clock and Eddie Jackson is the safety of the Chicago Bears for one year..

"Guy when you got my givens with six targets, And here it is. Antonio Brown with five targets is like, Well, wait a minute, man. He just got here. Only been here a week. You should be forced feeding those other guys. The football in college is letting Antonio Trying to just get his feet underneath him early in the game. He tried him on Deep post, which was a good shot. Tom Brady almost got picked off little slightly underthrown. But Antonio Brown didn't didn't clear the defender enough for Tom even be throwing the football if there's any other quarterback in the National Football League, taking their shot with that particular receiver He's been really cute because Tom problem shouldn't have thrown that bowl is no. In my opinion. There's no way shit on the ball. This is gonna sound. He wasn't clearly open. It's going to sound like a crazy comment, but hear me out on this one. If you live with somebody does that put subliminal pressure on you? To a degree to feel like you need? Think about zoom in for a minute. You lived with somebody other man attracted A B is living with Brady. Does that put some kind of subliminal pressuring you to right out of the gate make it work a little bit more considering Look, this. This is somebody have a lot of familiarity with. We're around each other all the time. Now we're trying to build upon that camaraderie like two degree has to write. I don't know that Antonio Brown is a hell of a football player. That's the pressure. The pressure that he's good that you want to get. You know, you won't get the ball in his hands. You think about what he did in his first game against Miami Dolphins When he was with the New England Patriots, They put an emphasis Belichick in Josh McDaniel. Tom Brady put in emphasis on getting him involved, because that's what happens usually when someone acquires a new toy, where there's the Kansas City Chiefs and Lady are build a moment the living have Bill was available to them. They start utilizing, and that's what happens because the guy's a good football player. But sometimes in my opinion, which you ought to do is use them as a decoy. You don't have to But you know you don't have to force the football toe. I think you get the football to the other guys. And then their stuff or naturally come. I just don't think I've ever seen Tom Brady have a game like this before. You guys very last night. We seen Tom Brady have a game. Well, I mean, but I mean, he threw for zero TDs. Zero What? They only scored three points. And I know you can't get three points by kicking field, Maybe by score touchdowns. You got to get the three market Canfield go. So here the most important numbers If you're just waking up this morning, I want to hear from Bruce Arians. And then I was going to rattle off some numbers and get your quickfire analysis ready. The most important numbers 38 3 Saints win if you're just waking up, Michael Thomas Keys, Nephews back five catches 51 yards, Antonio Brown first game back in the NFL three. Catches 31 yards. Here's a clearly angry Bruce Arians and then some really interesting numbers real quick for the fellas. Second half. I thought we got to turn over and we don't score touchdown. I thought that Kind of was end of it right then and there and, But I mean, get New Orleans credit that they kicked her out in every face. Syrians never holding back Jay's point. Real quick analysis. I'll fire through some Tom Brady five picks this year against the Saints. Five against the Saints because the Saints it's a division opponent. First of all, and when you when you have a division opponent, I think I said this last week as we continue to talk about in rave about the Buccaneers in their offense of what they could do, and It's a division opponent when you have a division opponent, no matter who the quarterback is, you're goingto know in their tendencies and certain things that they do the books in the same place twice a year. Chrissie, and I understand Bruce Area has got a new quarterback, and he just came over a couple years ago. I get all that. But it doesn't matter. I still know those players. Pulse Zuman. I'm I said the reason why I said I'm a victim to the Tom Brady hype is because he's been saying it's the whole year very much about that. You just wait until the Saints get healthy. He's been talking about it and this whole narrative that's been following Tom about We know who Tom is in November and December. Swimming time football. To his credit. He's been on this train the whole time. No question about it. We should also mention as we hit the engine for the caboose for the break here, we should mention the Bucks didn't have a first down until the second quarter. That tells you how bad the art was playing. They ran the ball just five times in the most important thing from a macro long term perspective. The Saints are now six into the bucks or 16 3, which means Obviously not only his New Orleans in front, but they've got the season sweep. So if it comes down to it at the end of the season, picking up that wind last night was a huge still to come. The Steelers have done something they've never done in the history of their franchise. We'll talk about it on the way..
Miami Dolphins ship wide receiver to the New England Patriots
"A four game losing streak, the Patriots prepare for their Monday night match up with the New York Jets. One of the teams bright spots during the recent struggles has been wide receiver Jacoby Meyers. He's been able to snag 10 catches over his last two games after receiving more playing time due to the injuries of wide receivers Julian Edelman and Mikael Harry. Offensive coordinator Josh McDaniel spoke today about Myers. Always ready to go, You know, always ready to take advantage of the opportunities that she's given. And I thoughtyou Kobe did a nice job on Sunday and being ready to go. She's you know. Encouraged by what he's been able to do, and I look forward to continue to grow and improve with him as we move forward, and the Patriots did make a trade today, acquiring wide receiver Isaiah Ford from the Miami Dolphins in return for a 2022 7th round pick.

"Young nucleus. But they've got a mixture of players that are a bit older. They've not been in this position before. Last year. I I looked at both teams, and it pained me to say I was gonna win. I don't feel that way this year the patriots. I think just nine Super Bowl insane for ballot. Check and Brady. Talking about a guy potentially. He's gonna win is six Super Bowl is a head coach and a guy's sixty per bowl as a starting quarterback. Which which for for those of you listening that right? They're winning that. That that kills the argument of who's the greatest of all time. That's that to me. Sorry the arguments over six plus you'll be the only player would six rings. Charles Haley and him each have five. Which is nuts. Which is just crazy. I just this year. I feel like it is going to be the patriots as feel like the way they play. I think I think you look at McDaniel Josh McDaniel, they're they're they're play caller their their offensive genius. Who is is is is cooked up something, and he does well against teams like the Rams defense in the Rams defense is Wade Phillips like this is what we do. We don't do a lot of stuff. What we do. We do. Well, but you're not gonna see anything exotic out of our defense. And that's where they eat it up. So I'm thinking like thirty eight twenty four thirty eight twenty four ish. You know, I think the first half it'll be close. But I think it'll be tight because that's what happens, and then they go from there. That's going to be crazy. Three two three five three eight twenty four.

"Secrets of it. And he said, you know, he's got a little player in him in the way, he talks like a player sometimes he really connects with players, and what your thoughts about that. Because I've heard that now on two or three different occasions from coaches or players he's different than the other guys. Colin when he was a high school senior right here in Atlanta. He went to the sidelines at a key moment of the game. And he basically asked his head coach if they could run a different play than the coach wanted him to run and the head coach let them run the play. It was a naked bootleg. He was the quarterback McVeigh was and he scored a touchdown to win a high school tournament game. So I want you to watch this play. You're seeing on your screen right now. The reason that this play which Troy Aikman called his Jared. Goff's best pass of the game. If you run that replay one more time from that exact angle what you're going to see is Brandin cooks making an out cut toward the sidelines. The original play you watch go up. Now, he goes out and that play Brandin cooks was supposed to go in before this play. Jared Goff had told Sean McVay on the sidelines. I'd rather have cooks go out because I think there's going to be too much traffic in here. I don't wanna layer the ball over. Cokes. I want to fire it to him and McVay goes. Well, not what I would call. But I trust you. Let's run it that way and McVeigh told me on Friday that is a perfect example of what I like to do. I want my players to understand that I'm gonna listen to them. And if they make sense with what they wanna do. I'm absolutely going to consider it. This was an example of why players love playing for Sean McVay this by the way, he is faced Bill Belichick before right? Yes. In in two thousand fifteen he faced Bill Belichick, and they got killed. They were losing twenty seven to three in the last minute. When Washington got a garbage touchdown. And he told me on that day that Bill Belichick and Matt Patricia took him to the woodshed. And there's no question in my mind that he's going to have learned a lot from that particular day that you're looking at right now there he is with Kirk cousins, that's one of the longest days of Sean McVeigh's coaching life. It's the only time in the five years as a coordinator or head coach he's faced Bella chick until this coming Sunday, by the way, he and Bella check have texting relationship. Yeah. He told me that after a lot of their games this year. Bella chick would text him. He said he sent me a great text after we beat Minnesota on that Thursday night of bowed. How much he really loved explosive their offense was so yeah, they got a pretty good relationship, which I didn't know before I met him. You know, I'll tell you. Everybody is talking about Bella check against McVeigh. All genius new genius. I get it. Here is what I'm looking at Josh mcdaniels has in the last couple of weeks taken apart Gus Bradley, and then and then took a part, Bob Sutton, and both those coordinators the week before were credited with brilliant game plans Gus Bradley against Lamar Jackson Sutton against Andrew luck. Wade Phillips tends to be a this is what I do guy. I don't change a lot. This is what I do. Well, Josh mcdaniels has taken apart. Two coordinators who generally are this is what I do guys. I think the Wade Phillips Josh McDaniel battle this is where I really favor New England. Wade is kind of a this is my defense. Here's what it is that I think worries me about the Rams this week you buy into that. Well, consider this about Josh mcdaniels. You were talking Colin before I came on the air about white. Is it New England have a name. Why don't they have all the name is Brady? The name is Belgium, whatever they don't have a steel curtain. They they don't have any of this. But you know, what they have they have on both sides of the ball. The reason they don't have nickname in my opinion is that on both sides of the ball every week. Every game plan is a snowflake. Josh mcdaniels is totally non predictable. How about coming out in running the ball is much as he did on third downs early in the game against Kansas City. The crazy thing is this is was not thought to be one of the best offenses lines in the league in mid season. And they've had one hundred seventy nine snaps this postseason. Tom Brady's been sex zero times and knocked down twice. And so that's what I mean, Josh mcdaniels figures out each week exactly what he should do. Due to that particular opponent. So that's why I have no idea what we're going to see out of the patriots on offense. You saw last week. Hey, Rex Burkhead big star Rix birkhead might touch the ball twice in this whole game. So every week it's going to be different. And that's what Josh mcdaniels wants to leave on Wade Phillips as head right now. Going into this game. You can't predict what we're going to do because we do something different every week. Okay. Here's where you and I disagree years ago about what two thousand to the NBA officials Sacramento in the Lakers went into the Western Conference finals it was game. Six I don't believe in conspiracy theories. It was a horribly officiated game. And the Lakers got virtually every call, but it was game six and in game seven the kings were awful. They see they were nervous anxious and the Lakers one. But David Stern did not come out and comment on the officiating. His feeling was got ahead of officials..

"An he has the best help that's ever been granted to any type of professional athlete. Like we talked about Michael Jordan coached by Phil Jackson will he's been coached by the best. And Josh McDaniel he's been with with Bella check fifteen of the nineteen years that the offense of lying coach, Dante scar Nekia they dominated the chiefs in the interior. He's been wanting seventeen of the nineteen years. Brady's benefited from that Josh mcdaniels eight they're going to play Eric berry. We're going to have several snaps in the game bears going to be guarding him man to man. So he gets Brady and the other offense players in the hotel ballroom the morning of the game. He's gonna put an eight new players who has helped like that only Tom Brady. So you got to build a pass some of this credit around football man is the ultimate team game. And I said all the time, I hate team sports without assistance of all these other things, you know, Tom Brady is. Who is Tom Brady has done his part? But there are other people in that canoe doing a hell of a lot of Rohan also, and we need to be able to finally get him credit. And the reason this morning before the show you said multiple times. That's why team sports is the narrative surrounding Brady today not his legacy not his career. But as performance last night is so dramatically different. If default lines up six inches back. Like he's supposed to on this play the games over here. By the way. It was a bad throw couldn't pull it in its chiefs bowl up for game. As my trusty statistician information purse Jamila says it's like pop Warner's the basics of all football. Just don't line up past the ball. Can we show America? If d Ford wasn't off-side what Tom Brady stat line for this game would have been because it would not have been the stuff of legend one touch now. Three picks a pick in the end zone. Picked in the game. And a sixty three rating the problem is much like the chargers learned in divisional playoff game a decade ago twelve years ago, actually, Tom Brady threw pick to in that football game. And Troy Brown came around and forced a fumble and embrace it and make another mistake from that moment forward Tom Brady completed five passes but twenty five yard pass to gronk on third and five three passes on third and ten a pass on first and ten all four first downs. All three of those interceptions would have been blatantly his fault leading element across the middle. China fit it in a tight spot the balls to high gets till it gets intercepted at the goal line going one low to gronkowski compared to throw them one by the crossbar. Intercepted by Reggie Ragland the linebacker there in this one. He wanted the throw the ball down the field, but couldn't get his feet set. And at the last minute tries to throw one the gronk and the fan in the flat too hard it gets deflected. It gets intercept and the game. Over like, I know the pats at three timeouts the chief the chiefs win the game, and we are talking totally different scenario. And that is that's one of the problems with win at the when we don't have the benefit of being in the moment when we just look at guys careers and stack up how many Super Bowls this why Brady for Brady it's almost a non factor because he has so many amazing appearances in numbers. But in ten years or people are gonna remember drew Brees didn't go because they blew that Cole and Tom Brady wouldn't have gone, but d- Ford lineup offsides. Like so Brady. I want to make this clear because obviously picked against the pats. I've thought that this was going to be the end of the run. I am not a Tom Brady skeptical and what he's accomplished he is the greatest quarterback ever. And he's lapped the field at this point. But there are lucky bounces, and there are institutional infrastructure advantage that you're talking about which is Tom Brady didn't hold the chiefs too. Zero points in the first half. And Tom Brady didn't he had the great Bassil percent in the first half. It was a running game. Bella check defense of game plan to. Eight times. Now, I know Tony romo's where up and down on the telecast, Tom Brady audibles all all he's just making up stuff on the cast..

He ran a Super Bowl winning coach outta town. Good luck to Matt left. Lou, by the way to other to other things talk about number one. Join I got into this yesterday. Josh mcdaniels is not going to get the Cleveland job. I'm told is not going to get the Tampa job. I'm told is not going to get the jets job. I'm told and and traded up to get. Tim Tibo and passed on Andrew luck. Here's the amazing thing about Josh mcdaniels because he was a real hot name like a month ago. He was the hot name out there. Right. He couldn't beat out Matt leflore for the job. He passed on. Andrew lock he traded up to get Tim tebow. It anybody questioning his judgment. Let me just say this about the patriots. The New England Patriots was not a great job before. Bella check and Brady got there. Don't confuse great job with people making an average job. Great. When Bill Belichick leaves Tom Brady leaves in two three years. Whatever it is. Who says New England's a good job who what the jets have their franchise quarterback? The bills have their franchise quarterback. The dolphins are gonna try to draft their franchise quarterback. How do you know you're going to have a franchise quarterback? Boston's got miserable weather often miserable. Angry media miserable fans would have unrealistic expectations coming off radium ballot. Check who says New England. Good job. It's a good job now because Brady Mela check but crafts going to be eighty years old eighty four years old, and you're gonna have no Brady and Bella check in the room. I like the worst job in the history of radio was replacing Howard Stern. That was not a great job. Howard was great at doing morning radio on FM radio bands, doing morning radio and FM radio band kinda hacky. Sometimes Howard made it great he left. It was no longer a great up untrustworthy radio. Oh, you know what? I mean. The guy's making the money now or the opinion people like Rush Limbaugh doing FM zoo morning show. Hey. Was never prestigious job in radio. Howard Stern made it prestigious and then Howard left, and it's no longer a prestigious job, you know, you want to make money be Rush Limbaugh be a conservative guy on on AM FM radio. That's what you could make a bunch of money. Okay. So the idea that the patriots were great job from there was a ten year stretch that five coaches before Bella check out there. They ran off. Good coaches ran off personnels peak Errol. Josh mcdaniels. I'm going to stay here in New England. What what you passed on Andrew luck? Now, you're Rogers you're not getting and by the way, his agent bottle amont who's a very respected NFL agent bailed on Josh McDaniel. It was like that nonsense. You pulled on the colts. I'm outta here. Stand this last year, you coached, Andrew luck. No, thanks. This year you to coach Roger. You know, England's going to be better than those jobs. You get Tom Brady won't be around. This idea. Listen coaching. The Pittsburgh Steelers is always a good job coaching Alabama football. Ohio State football is always a good job. Chip Kelly made Oregon good job for an hour. You know, Oregon that's a state with no players in it and not saying you can't win there. But there are jobs that are always great jobs coaching the Dallas Cowboys free agents love to play there. That's always a good job. I think coaching in Philadelphia with the eagles passionate Philadelphia. Got a great owner. That's always a good job. But just because a jobs. Good for an hour is the Arizona Cardinals. Always a good job or did Bruce Arians for an hour. Make it a good job. By the way. Here was Josh mcdaniels earlier today saying he's standing New England. Meaning he's now passed on luck. And didn't even get an interview with on Aaron Rodgers. The book is closed. You know, it's always a humbling experience to have an opportunity to interview with anybody for that position. You know, and I was thankful for the opportunity to meet with Green Bay always gives you greater insight into another organization, and how they do things been very educational for me every time I've gone through it, and I've appreciated every single one of them..

"A typical J day in the mid west just kind of overcast and Leumi. And but that's the way it is. And that's the way we like it. 'cause we know when the summer comes in. It's the start of the new spring year in baseball this year will forget about all of this, or at least we hope so I don't know. But the fact of the matter is we are here to persevere until until three o'clock this afternoon. A lot of things in the hopper. I want to get to not the least of which is the search for the Bengals new head coach. And why it needs to be somebody outside of the organization fan base needs to be juiced. Right. I mean, you gotta get the fan base geeked again. And if you don't get the fan base geeked, then the problem is is you can't sell tickets. And if you can't sell tickets, then you can't really and truly get a jump start on this thing. Now, this is no reflection on. Some of the guys that are up for the job. Hugh jackson. I. His two chances at being a head coach. We're not very good. Absolutely. Not very good. Now. Maybe it was the organization or maybe it was him. I don't know. But I know this that if they rolled out Hugh Jackson as the head coach, it's not going to be something that's going to juice the fan base. It's just not. Darren Simmons has been around a long time as a special teams coach. I'm sure he's very good at what he does if they roll out Darrin Simmons, and they say, here's Darrin Simmons. He's our new special teams coach. And now he's gonna be our new head coach you get crickets save with Bill laser. I'm sure he's very good at what he does. Although frankly, I think he got a little bit of a pass this year because the defense was so horrid it kind of put the things that he did. And some of those were real head scratchers on the back burner. But if they come out with Bill laser, and they say, here's our new head coach people are gonna say Bill who. It just it to me. They've got to get proactive and get outside of the organization someone that has had no ties to this team. Vance Joseph another guy, you know, he he he fizzled in his time in in Denver. Just wasn't that good and his time in Denver. So when I heard that they were interviewing him, I said, well, that's interesting. But how would that geek the fan base? The Bengals earn a tough tough spot. They really are because they're up against seven other teams, and they're all looking for head coaches, and it's all the same. They're all the same guys that are that are going here there and everywhere to interview for these jobs. So they're in they're in they're in competition with teams that have more to offer either in terms of climate or facilities or heritage or market size. Now the hot name that's out. There is Eric b enemy who played here in the nineties. I remember Eric Bana me I did the games on radio back in the early to mid nineties. And Eric enemy was part of just seems like a whole stream of people that just marched in and out of here. And Eric enemy is going to interview with the Bengals. He's meeting with the jets and the buccaneers today, and then he's going to interview with the dolphins. And then he's going to interview here with Cincinnati. Okay. He's interviewing with the buccaneers the dolphins and the jets what are those three franchises? Have that? Cincinnati doesn't have. The jets are in the number one market in the country. The jets are big time. The jets have a fan base that strong and demanding they wanna win the buccaneers play in one of the most beautiful cities in America. They play on a field surface. That is quite possibly the best in the NFL. And the dolphins are in Miami. So you've got the number one market and to warm weather markets in Florida where you know, what Obama player I want to go to a warm weather market. I wanna play at least eight of my games in warm weather markets. Arizona. Is a another town that offers a lot more than Cincinnati. It just does doesn't make us bad. Does it make us inferior? They just offer more. They've got great climate out there and they play indoors. Now, be enemies not going to interview with the the cardinals. But Arizona's another team that's in competition with. The Bengals for head coach. Josh mcdaniels another guy the Bengals wanna talk to. I'd be wary of him. Just because what he did to Indianapolis last year. He was all set going to Indianapolis. Left the team at the alter turned out. Indianapolis was fine. They got Frank Reich. They're in the playoffs. But. Josh McDaniel would bring some sort of a different touch here and would be coming from an organization that is the most successful organization of its generation. My point in all of this is that if the Bengals just do it the Bengals way promote from within make the guy take along some assistant coaches that are still there. They're not going to win the game. They have to win. And that is the court of public opinion. Look, I I sit in this radio station on Sundays. And as the season winds down as we get into the months of November and December and the team is in the dumper, which it's been the last three years the interest in the Bengals is nil. You can't get people to call in. You can't get people geeked because you can't talk about strategies for games. And what games mean and what happens if this team wins? What happens if that team wins? Because it doesn't matter. The team is so bad. It doesn't matter. And the only way you get relevant again, forget about winning winning back your fan base. I think that's going to take a long time. But before you can win back your fan base. You have to get relevant again. The only way you can get relevant again is to be competitive. Win games. Have a chance against teams inside your own division. And unfortunately with what this team has gone through the last three years, there's nobody on that staff that will make this team relevant again. The opposite of love is not hate the opposite of love is apathy. And that's where the Bengals are right now. They're in the middle of a city that is apathetic toward them. It's their own doing. They stuck with Marvin Lewis to long. Okay. It's a business. That's the way Mike Brown wanna to conduct his business, but they stuck with a guy too long. And so each year, it was the same old thing the same old thing the same old thing, and they'll tease you on the tantalize. You everybody gets geeked on draft day. Everybody gets excited about the minicamp. Everybody gets excited about the start a camp all they got off to a foreign one start. And then they let us down again. It would have almost had been better if they got off to a one and four start because the letdown after four and one was a big big letdown. So I understand why the Bengals are going through the process of interviewing. In house candidates. I understand that. In a lotta ways it makes sense bringing back. Vance Joseph for an interview to me makes no sense. Hiring any of those people would make absolutely no sense. What do you have a problem and the problem has been around for a while? Any CEO of any company that sells anything knows the first thing you need on a problem is a fresh set of eyes. They must go outside the organization. I don't know if it's Eric b enemy. He's the flavor of the month. The chiefs are hot he's offensive coordinator. He's benefiting from a really great season by his quarterback, Patrick Mahomes. I don't know if it's Josh mcdaniels. I don't know how good of a coach Josh McDaniel is I know he's got the greatest quarterback of all time. And that makes everybody smart whether your Josh mcdaniels or Bill Belichick extract Tom Brady from that team. I don't know. How smart any of those guys are? But I do know this. Unless you're willing. To admit that maybe the way you've gone about your business up until now has been less than adequate you won't get better. And worse you won't draw back to the equation. What you really really need relevance first. And then a fan base that you've letdown far too often your thoughts on what I just said seven four nine seven thousand one eight hundred the big one thousand seven hundred dollars AT and T are you with me? That the Bengals need to go outside of the organization and bringing a coach with a fresh set of eyes on a really really old problem. Let's take some of those phone calls. Now, Jim is an Anderson and wants to weigh in. Jim you go right ahead. Okay. Jim. Couple of things. Vance Joseph if an outsider, so I don't know how.

"I do think there number one choice is FitzGerald the reason I think this is he's the only candidate that they have they visit from this profile of a bunch of systems. If you take a look at. The interviews that the Packers have requested to make and the candidates that have been reported by various news outlets that they seem to be interested. It's Josh McDaniel the coordinator from the patriots. It's Wales the linebacker coach in the patriots. It's Matt leflore the coordinator from the titans and a few other people they're all in the same category of NFL assistance. Some of whom have passed head coaching experience the one outlier that's completely different. It's fitzgerald. So that tells me that FitzGerald is probably their number one candidate. And if they can't get him, then they're going to go to the second people on the list and try to figure out which of them. They wanna have. I don't think that you can put too much into these interviews. I mean, how many head coaches would be do you think Bill Belichick would have been a great interview. The first time he was interviewed would McCarthy had been a great interview no-one how he kind of talks in. So when did they they said, well, we're talking to this guy. We're talking to that guy. The interview is rarely the thing that's going to you know, when I was hired at W. I S did they hire me because of my interview. You've got to hire somebody on the basis of what they've done, and what you think that they can do in your estimate of how they would handle the job not the sorts of things that they say in an interview. So what I see we ought to talk to all of these people all those interviews are overrated. Take a look at what the individual is done checkout talked to people that have worked with him and make a decision and then go out and find the person that you want and get him if they don't get FitzGerald if they're going to be competing with a bunch of other teams for a handful of assistance. I don't wanna see their first choice go and get hired by the jets or get hired by Zona or get hired by one of these other teams that's out there. So for me. The thing to watch. The Packers decision is to try to get a sense for who it is. They really really want. And then whether or not they're going to get him. They can't afford at this stage of the organization to screw this up. This is a team that I think doesn't have a lot of talent dotted but has a spectacular quarterback. You can deal with some of the talent in the short term and maybe enough to make them good enough. We you see what happened to that Packer team on Sunday against Detroit where they simply up and quit at once. Rogers was out of the game. Where lifeless that tells me that this is an organization that has had players that are it is good that as we have been led to believe for some time. Given the fact that you only have address at most for three or four more years, and maybe less than that. They need to get a coach you can come in and make the most of the situation that they have right now. And I don't think they can afford to make the kind of mistake that so many of these other teams have made that have this revolving door of assistance who come and go. All right. We'll try this guy for a couple of years, and then this one for a couple of years and never have any continuity at all. They clearly got it. Right. Even for people who don't like McCarthy. I think they got it right with Mike McCarthy a guy who lasted for a decade a guy who won a Super Bowl that was somebody in which they went out and identified the coach that they wanted and got him. They need to do the same thing. Mike Holmgren was their first choice on the other hand, you take a look at the decisions that they made that I think did not work, and I think Mike Sherman did not work. You see Sherman son-in-law is. What are the candidates that? They're talking to. Yeah. He is. Weird situation. Wouldn't it? But he's not going to get the job. Everybody's talking about Lombardia that he's he does. He does a good ad. Yes. I don't think it's going to be FitzGerald. I just think he's not saying the right kind of signals on in terms of him really wanting the job. But if he is the guy they want they should talk to him adult. Let him say no just make the offer. So good that he can't refuse Covic. If he's not the guy that they want just move on. And I don't even know that I do the interview in the first place six or seven news talk seven thirty w.
