"This drive in the second team all American right tackle jet Rick wills junior get called a couple of penalties against the most penalized team of the SEC this year and I think part of the reason why is that there's so much going on mentally don brown in Michigan there taxing this office of wine mentally trying to communicate trying to think about okay is that guy it is a defensive lineman or a linebacker down in twenty now back at a forty five yard line money shot the next change it back in his right hip energy here is two receivers to the life saving one life Michigan's twentieth single client here's the sample to twist the plane left side past middle for still makes a radically create powers his way up the left sideline it's not down to forty four of Michigan by Josh Mattel is the safety course can't since October the twenty six for middle Forrestal returnable voicebox injury against Arkansas today still well short aligned to gain the point you that will come out for IBM and it was actually really nice catch Adam you know he's running from his right to left falls way behind it a nice catch a nice run after the catch now it's up to this point team to try to here in Michigan he tried to get this ball inside the ten yard line my career planning waited Donovan people's Jones is back light footed blue end over end take over people's Jones bounces at the three don't worry if our friend Pat McAfee were here you would say that is good for the brand what a point by perdieron Cedar Point special teams is playing a major role in the field position battle between these two teams and all set up on that third and super long getting ten to twelve yards on that completion set up that policy now sets up the defense with the ball inside the five yard line trying to stop Shea Patterson company three forty four remaining in the third quarter Alabama twenty one Michigan sixteen Patterson is in the shot gun about a yard deep in the end zone to all right gonna back on his left hip and assign Haskins the receiver spreadable a snap doctor has been sort of blind space between the houses leads surges ahead past the first wave of the Alabama defense and a good push and run up to about the nine yard line at all set up Michigan with some much needed cushion second down coming up and that seems to be the formation of choice on this one is drive the two tight ends of the tide in the full back in a week right next to the right tack on both wide receivers on the other side in the slot second in five years the staff to the gun hand up again that has the tables off the light side has market power his way to the eleven yard line in a driven back by a slew of Alabama red jerseys was set up third down and inside of for yards here great crowd on hand as we talked about awesome atmosphere of the attendance for this game fifty nine thousand seven hundred and forty six brought to us by vivid seats double the vivid seats happen it's a promo code yes be a twenty five at checkout to get ten percent off your next order will buy just any see get a vivid see another shot Goodman Haskins on his left hip what's formation of the left with the receivers one hi CAP chastised the once we pull the flight left side it's not it's not my house is close down and more plus the fifteen to twenty six of the twenty five and one of the trees down on the bones of the new one sidelight with thirty a nineteen your gate were Hassan Haskins before Christian Heris rental a snap play looks to me like what you see the Los Angeles rams do they can dance the formation everybody in sight and then real quick run your tail back to the flat that's how it gets free version Harris can't get through all the traffic was down it's an approaching the two minute mark of the third quarter Michigan trails by five on a shot gun here's the snap makes the hand out the show but a practical Patterson looking like nothing there takes off up the middle he goes up to the thirty to the thirty five year left sideline Simmons's way again Xavier McKinney into the Michigan Benton out of bounds well the forty nine yard line or so excellent one by she Patterson bill mark about of the thirty eight sixty two yards shy the line to gain a lot happened there Donovan people's jobs going to be wide open but the safety maybe makes a great play by the senior to cover lady Jaye Patterson realize that late run flown scrambles up the field there with a nice little baby step farm second into another shot good again so today on his right hip to receive the spread right laughs takes the stand needs of seven eight not a word is a straight up we got across the forties got the force down a forty one yard line tumble down my couple of Crimson Tide including foot area map this the best thing that Michigan is doing right now is just holding on to the football gas rolling the clock Michigan's defense is not on the field twice we've heard Molly report on this Alabama defense being on the field a long time another long series of plays winding it up the middle for this Michigan office who's been sent from the old forty one other shopping Isabel Tice now we cannot this survey or does it pass deep right side numbers in its incomplete Palade bell just beyond his reach going up against the hybrid defensive back shot him Carter in completed its second down and said you have really good coverage by Carter looks like a four wide receivers sent there really Alabama just had everybody on lockdown he would take in a perfect world it's actually pretty good coverage they say it's a game of inches I really don't know if that ball going to fit in anywhere order a senior from Louisiana out of the gun on second down in San Patterson with a back on his right hip and sharpen a three receiver set one hi CAP a flag a small commuter Sellafield a false start against the Wolverines this time full sorry were for offense five yard penalty still second down when Jim Harbaugh was on the field yeah and I use upset and he's right that that that costs you go against Patrick's or ten the corner he stepped into the neutral zone to cause Niko.

"From the maize and blue Michigan crushes Michigan state forty forty seventy one hundred twelve backyard brawl let's go to the defensive side of things Wolverines great on the defensive side one of the many stars on that side Josh Mattel's is down in the Michigan lockerroom adult cars Doug right just to start with the feeling in this locker room after you get a big win over rival does a great villain home you know we've been preparing you know everybody's been doing whatever they had to do to get ready for the game you know is a big game the state championship an awful like our guys came out and played you know their heart out everybody do what they had to do execution was amazing quarterback offenses fluid the defense you know was pushing as hard as we could it was just a great one obviously everybody talks about how this rivalry brings out the best in Michigan state and when they first got the ball they went right down the field scored was only touchdown of the day I want you guys interact with don brown a lot he's usually very clinical but he got mad after that opening drive what do you say to you guys and did it help he was we were actually gonna find it just we was doing like a little dumb things like get penalties yeah we never usually get we jump on all sides give a P. I you know that really hurt us single they got a short film too so it wasn't like they were they when I've ninety are like we did so you know we just had to make sure we was to me stay focused and disciplined on the rest of the game no intent you know if your most as you get the best to you in games like this we have the most recent focus that's why he was really mad at you guys got some penalties early but they got in late could you see them getting frustrated because the I'm in the market in your four thirty I was present on the sideline like whatever they do go into a bag you know they want us to be on the same level of them and we're not doing that so you know I was just making sure you know as much as they got frustrated we within a con comfortable about your brothers in the second the secondary amber in the verbal put interceptions what did you see on those plans all it was amazing it did look just like back to the tone as we got to the spotlight on the look just like practice especially Ambriz everyday impacted the truck though the both of them he runs like he run in a row he catches the ball he knows just amazing a symphonic of during the game one of the most impressive things I saw from the sidelines late in the game they're looking at a a spike situation and you look up and see their backup quarterback rocky Lombardi of course and you made sure that everybody knew it will take us through that yeah because it got caught there would be on watch a film because of the taming on big games like this try to do fakes you know they'll try to speak somebody in there so you won't notice someone in the canal systems I think twelve is big part again might make sure everybody knows like that's a backup quarterback some people in power turned on office so they don't know you know I was trying to make sure like what's to say everybody place safe numbers on the back of correct all right now you can go play what's one of the biggest trap games ever between two rivals you got to go play Indiana and they're good and they always give you guys trouble as a leader on this team how do you make sure there is no lack of execution on we got to go in every day in practice every play into what we have to do on the cab nobody like and you know everybody everybody got the focus on the dawn of goal everybody got to be too and then we got to be able to go down there and their place and get a big one thanks for time thank you love that guy he's great and that was some really good insight as he the Wolverines take down Michigan state forty forty ten and they ready for Indiana coming up next week in Bloomington will put back the offense of side and runny bell stocks with Doug next Walgreens role state you're listening to Michigan football from Learfield IV college if you come to all of these from two to five PM you can get live as well book for another blog you can get a small drink or fries or snack shake and for the low low price of another bug you can round out this afternoon snack with warm cookies it's really a meal at this point but call it a snack that way you can come back for dinner the participating arms were limited to your new Toyota Rav four asks what if what.

"This is the Ms though back to the Jamie more mentally John the others the glass in this segment is Hey it's John Borton from the warring magazine what's up John how you doing they're very very good to hear from you good to hear from you of how about data east coast Michigan game you went to high in in the Maryland that's that's crazy man that was that that fan the the it look like Meryl without outflanked on the on the fans I only been out of flags for awhile in the kids on the field you name it yeah yeah I looked across and I thought more maize and blue than I did that red white and yellow and black or whatever all else they are not like they got but you know when you take the lead in seconds the store right off the bat you know it's probably going to be a pretty good day and that's what this in bed at all but it was kind of expected because there have been swirling down the drain for a bit now and they just kept going no you're right I mean we were talking about our band starts we've been stay in this team needs a fast start and they got jobs the dials Jax out and took off there absolutely Devin gill who has kind of gotten out of the lineup as far as the linebackers the among those starters but he is still giving it his all as you can see on that block that he delivered on special teams on that car and that was the spring black child Jackson as got all kinds of bead to burn and and he took it the house member we're talking to Niko gallons that junior wide receiver after the gate that he felt when he got it we were all point take it to the grab and that that's exactly what he did that yeah I was going to be a very exciting player down through is missing you can see that he still awaiting her turn along the receivers does that have them almost an access this year but that soon will be the case and he'd get better and better you'll see a barred the regular line up but certainly he that he's got everything you want out of a kick return no you do and he he's he's a special he's a special player and it's good to see him getting his opportunity and it was a great boost for the special teams no doubt about it and that's they needed that Jim Harbaugh was talking about it and not saying it it had been awhile since they've had it get taken back in you know when you come off the Notre Dame game and it was such watch cited dominating win it's very easy to feel pretty good about yourself and kind of get in that mode okay we're we're gonna cruise right into not only the bye week in two weeks but Maryland coming out this is semi bye week because they've been terrible and I'm not afraid players thank that but in the back of her mind you know they know that Maryland is not going to close this pop up a challenges some of the ones that they've seen this year so they couldn't they really couldn't afford to flop around a whole lot and get off to a slow start are they got not only the turn from Giles Jack eight stops Maryland our mail stop themselves one time early with a with a missed field goal from short range but then also like Dana coming through and forcing a bad role with a just a crushing yet I'm Josh Jackson or Maryland the Maryland quarterback and you see Josh Mattel us Michigan senior state you coming up with an interception so what Michigan needed to do was not eight Maryland for granted to get off to a quick start and he did exactly that that on both sides the ball that was a good day no you're right I mean it was good it was great the defense play did it seem like and I I hate to say this jargon well I love the game of football it will get got kind of boring a little bit from me a little bit I mean you get out you get out there to a fourteen point leading yeah ball they did move the ball down the field Michigan made some key stops in the one that Mike dama hidden and Josh Mattel is making the interception in I mean they made some plays they did some things that the the defense did things that they needed to do to get the Maryland Maryland move the ball but they moved it with inside the twenty that's when I'll say yeah yeah they did and they they control them they turn them away they turned up the heat when I got there are one Maryland started to get into scoring range and and you're right it became a very comfortable afternoon for Michigan I tell you what when I can remember watching Michigan football when there were seven or eight of what you might consider quote unquote boring game and and then you had a cliffhanger was somebody you didn't expect it yet you had Ohio state and those are pretty darn good years so you know it if you get back to work some boring once once in awhile I think that's not a bad day there's nothing wrong with boring games John and I I you know especially of you come off you come up and I'm I'm gonna include depends they gave you got and you have a night game mega hyped game at Happy Valley in against Penn state and then you come right back and you have a down pour out a weather the storm game against another a rivalry game against Notre Dame and then you come back and you kick off on noon in college park in Maryland so I mean I'll take that I'll take that I mean that gives them the love they deserve they deserve that game a game like that but I'm not saying they didn't play they didn't play down they played update I mean I'm sure they were shocked when when Giles jags read that back for touchdown to yeah and they didn't have to completely open up the playbook I mean I think they rot rants and more creative things against Notre Dame when now when they were looking for maybe at a much closer game than they wound up getting but just they date did what they had to do I mean they they went and they took care of business and they did it kind of a working like fashion after that yeah matic at kind of scintillating first play I think I stop you Maryland fans let's bring out as as the game went on there was the now there is the parade or the the baseball national so well won a World Series and it was only twenty minutes or so away down in DC I'm I'm back a few metal bands first of all they some stayed away all together because they weren't stand to begin with but the United excited early I'm a let's let's get out of here go watch the parade here are I I would think that too I mean you down twenty one nothing the mean of own you go you go in at half time I mean things aren't going your way I look I was excited to see Josh Josh Jackson play I knew we would play they said he was hurt but I knew he was would play because I hate that I mean he grew up with Michigan with his dad and everything like that so you know he he he had something he wanted to show what he what he had it just didn't have that block in front of them and I'm impressed with the defense they use the front for more than just more blip more let's blitz in war front for stony yeah you're right and they were able to do some of that they they got creative a little bit times you know you put Hey an eight and on the ends and that you have some really solid defense event there and then you eat when you slip but my date it and enter the middle aisle that they were going at times with a three man front with the with really three defensive ends and that gives you are now they have some quickness and some speed is there and that I think it was effective at times and then they go with the floor and I really think that this defense is coming along as as that goes they added speed index and Helen camera grown and they're they're fighting their way they're becoming out much better defenses don brown defenses tend to do over the course of the season they figure things out where things are attacking them and yell at could be very important through the last three games because there's not an easy one in the bunch despite what anybody's going to say about it stay other struggling all this I get it but that means they're going to be that much more desperate that much more wounded animal all coming into an Arbor a week from Saturday and you know they are going to give it their absolute best shot no you're right you're listening to John Borden "We came on an executed we know what they want to do we know we had our had a chance to so that we the best team in the nation am I got stepped out man everybody plays a great great football today we have people rushing attack to ring up your coverage we have people doing everything over there was Josh Mattel's right after the ballgame attend three Michigan when the telecom up with an interception liver hill came up with an interception and this man Amory Thomas came up with an interception Nate Stanley I was quarterback didn't have a single one of his first four games he leaves an Arbor with three to his resume and Avery Thomas's with Doug cars in the Michigan lockerroom Doug. I am very does this defense of performances go where does that rank I worked ring I when are like the best defense point performance on scene since I've been here we have a four turnovers the intersection is coming in I worked QB didn't have intersection we had an interception forced fumble fumble recovery it was it was a pretty good game for us they got the ball twice in the fourth quarter once with ten minutes to go and they're driving and you get back to back sacks one from Jordan Blasko the next game cama grown shot out of a cannon yeah I mean a kid gets the quarterback so fast I need it I was a big time play about camera we all know can pretty fast and you may place we we expect that from music he's a great player then they had the the nother dry they get deep in your territory holding holding at that point you guys had about six sacks obviously their offense of wine was struggling but a lot of had to do with you guys in the secondary because Nate Stanley are known to throw to yeah that's one thing we say we say we golf forced him to pass the book because I we made sure like there was a run a ball on this because brown he had a great game plan today and we US by the back seven we just know we had that I come ready last drive they get the ball in the first two plays they throw right at you hello what do you what were you thinking on those two places I'm already thinking like twelve this is pretty consistent receiver and I we noticed like that QB like to go to my side of fear the right side and I knew I had to a lock in yeah ninety we wasn't because the book like I was pretty confident they had given up four sacks all season long coming into this game you guys had eight in the secondary did you feel like you other guys blanket all day because it looked like a lot of times eventually the pocket broke down that there were a lot of coverage and exactly that does exactly what it was like we do our job now back in in the front seven they take care of business about time he breaking about is rose to set so me we were together what about your interception take us through that. yeah I seen decks I had to flick the ball and I seem to go open air I just dove for those big play we need to. obviously then the final play they're looking at a third and forever Khaliq gets in there their quarterback actually through wrong handed to get the pass off the what did you see from there I just seen I hello his just by going to the ball we knew we had to like stop of a solid is I and in this defense we run Nestle although was about one final thing Oliver Martin played for them today former Wolverine did you come across on the field at all actually own. when a gun a razor who resigned I believe I wonder first times they try to face him against me and what happened no. and of course next week you play Brandon Peters it's gonna be weird to be facing old teammates it is a brand is a great guy side to go again so hopefully we get that when a key role every time I think your time thank you. back to you all right Doug thank you very much thanks Amory for joining us will flip to the offense of side when we come back she Patterson joins Doug cars that's coming up next Michigan holds off I would tend to three you're.

"Welcome back in Arbor. We have started of the Michigan spring scrimmage on eleven eleven and shape. Patterson has started this scrimmage at the number one quarterbacks about Wilson has been running back right now they snap the ball and nice pass completion to Dirani bell over the middle from shape. Patterson out of the shotgun early on, Dan. What have you seen from this offense hasn't looked a little more uptempo to you in the early going? Well, the first three or four plays. They ran. They snapped the ball with between twenty and twenty five seconds left on the forty second play clock. So that in an last year Michigan rarely snap the ball outside of the ten second market just took that long huddle and get up to the line. And I think we all can think back to times when they were really struggling to get the snap off before they incurred a penalty. You know, how many times did we get a game penalty because we didn't get it off in time. I don't think that's going to be an issue this year the. Oh line all the players looked at a sidelines. They're holding up cards different colored this and that so it's all brand new shotgun for Patterson to receivers split left. They bring Ronnie bell in motion and back to throw Patterson. Throws over the middle crossing around this is sane Ryssdal. He got it at the twenty beat one guy, of course, runs into the end zone. Although the defense. Jackley tackling. So but still a nice pass and say Ryssdal that young freshman. Doug talked about him. We talked about him a little bit, Dan. Yeah. That's the second time. He's got the football in this first possession of the offense. Now. Josh Mattel us was pretty nearby. I'm not sure he could have prevented the completion. He probably would have made the tackle. And a good year, by the way from tells last year, he was an all big ten performer for this Michigan defense, then again, no huddle. Patterson remains the quarterback the offensive line, by the way, scuba right? Tackle Runyon laugh Bredesen's and away. New are the guards the center Ruis. And now, they call it time out, and again, this is a scrimmage, but shape Patterson, solid. He didn't have what he needed and you wanna get this figured out in spring. So he calls the time out to go check out with Josh Gaddis and find out what happened on that, particular instance. Well, what happened is the only? A ten guys and Vance someone was very late coming out. Let's go to the sideline. Now. Doug Karsh with an interview we are joined by Gina Coleman who is the client community relations director for PNC Bank. PNC back. The presenting sponsor of the Michigan spring scrimmage for the tenth year Gina tell us. Why PNC gets involved PNC wants to be excited about Michigan football on like everyone else in spring means Michigan football. And so we want to join the excitement with students and alumni in the community onto out here. A great partnership tells a little bit about the halftime presentation the Sanger leadership center, the Ross business school honoring some pretty special students today so students you've been students participated in an intense competition through the leadership conference crisis challenge. And if includes two MBA students and undergrad students third year partnership, and they get to simulate they serve senior executives of a company, and they get to work through a crisis China to twenty four hour Christ. This challenge PNC, employees and executives serve as simulated board of directors taking them through this really intense exercise, great leadership development program. We're going to be honoring and highlighting the winners of the team winners on during halftime, Michigan PNC working together. So as you know, we are the official consumer Bank of you. And we were voted the best Bank by Michigan daily to. We just learned by the students of U of M for our banking and product services. So it's a great. It's great to pair a great university with a great financial institution. The best thing about the program financial education that we provide to the students as well. Just people know Gina's college football fan. Oh, yeah. Love college. Football basketball our football season ended little disappointing last year. But what a great time for for sports in general, Michigan teams and exciting if a new season coming and we're looking forward to it. Gina coma. PNC Bank for your time. Thank you guys back to you. Thank you. Doug. Michigan's first possession of scrimmage got down to the seven yard line where it stalled after a pass to Tariq black a run by true Wilson. So Jake moody has come on to attempt of field goal. And that field goal is good. So the offense on their first possession. Even again, there's no tackling this discourage, but they're trying to avoid injury with too much big contact at the point of attack. So Jake moody puts the offense on top three to nothing when we come back with the next possession. We'll talk a little defense. You're listening to Michigan football from learfield. IMG college, you.

"That was Nick Eubanks sounds confident sounds like he he he's confident in his offense. He as I said, you get a lot from the players if you listen what they say you can tell who starting quarterback edge. You can tell how he feels about certain certain people. So he mean, you get a lot from these players. If you listen, anyway, let's move again. We're gonna move over to the defense aside. Josh Mattel us. Are you from good? I'm good. I ask you just asked on those last two games. How does it motivate you going into this spring and how the defense in those to go? I don't really got too much say about that. But it's one clothing, let the pain suffering be distract, you know, to move forward and get better. So, you know, I just take that every day every laws I've ever had here is motivation and get better motivation. I have another one. So that's how games. You will hear a lot of all they don't have the Bush Kerry just enough names. Tomo what you do have coming together. And how you feel about this divas? I mean, it's college football. And there's always next man. No matter what happens. So, you know, losing big is like Evan. Buster Sean Gary chase when David long as that's the game football. You know, we we have Qatar about who does a great job recruiting bringing guys to step up and get ready to roll get on the train. So we don't have to stop. So, you know, we got a lot of young guys feeling some new roles, but you can tell they been waiting for the waiting for the time, you know, motivated to do better. So that we're gonna time comes they can hit the ball roller which safeties have stepped up in Terry's absence, Jamaa quals and Brad Hawkins doing amazing job. You know, I feel like they've been as long as me.

"Louis to this a week ago. Had a lot of fun with it. So we can send you to this week a different bracket a week on Wednesdays today. We're doing look at the sixty four best players of the Jim Harbaugh era so far removed through a one half of this MS ready for the other side. Let's go the right side J, but as a one seed versus Ronnie bell true freshman from this past team his sophomore season. It's kind of tough. I'll be honest with you. I think this is almost like a Virginia garner web said. Oh, yeah. But I do think Jake, but at the very end of it. I think he moves on. I mean, I mean the the injury was excluded. The ExCo the injury that he's a stain in the bowl game against Florida state. Ronnie bell definitely has a lot of upside to I mentioned that we did this in three years. Oh, God was Ronnie ballot. On the on the ranking. I think he's probably a lot higher than sixteen. Eighty nine match Davey on Smith. Michigan starting run back for a couple of years. Versus Channing straddling the cornerback opposite Jordan Lewis. That's a toughie. I love me some Debbie on Smith. But I think I'm gonna go with stripling on this one. Wow. All right. Who's who's turn us? It's overruled. All right. I'm overruled on Smith. Just looked up his numbers. You know, what though changed was really good as senior year. I dunno debut on Smith. He had six one hundred yard games his final two seasons. He rushed for sixteen hundred yards his final two seasons. Sixteen touchdowns. He wasn't the back that everybody wanted him to be. But he was a really good back. And he was very good new goal line. I think I think this one belongs to debut on Smith. Okay. Yeah. I mean, I can totally understand. I. The three fourteen match of Donald people's Jones versus north furbish. We'll go deep Jan on this one. Yeah. This is an easy one the six eleven matchup. Chris worm Lee versus Brandon Watson. Ooh. That's a good one. They want to go with warmly by a hair. I think we've seen, you know, you know, then Watson, you know. Do a phenomenal Duvanov, rain, rain and watts. I realized that after you started taking a breath, and I'm like, oh, no Brown Rowan. Ron Brandon Watson had a phenomenal, you know, few gains. But I think everyone at the end of it looks at him being exposed in the Ohio State game thinkers warmly themselves phenomenal Adams of nominal Michigan career at because E D lineman slash linebacker. No, just a strong side defensive end. Okay. But I think you know, warmly to me gets the edge on this one just by a little bit though. I think he's been the best strong side defensive and Michigan has had underneath Harbaugh in his in fact in his two years he has put up twenty three tackles for loss and twelve and a half sacks plane that strong side defensive end position. So I would give him the nod there, and then a four thirteen match of thirteen is Devon Gill starter for this pastures team at linebacker. Ryan Glasgow's the four she'd Ryan Glasgow continued that family legacy played defensive tackle, not a huge stats guy board. I would argue as one of the best interior defensive linemen. I've seen a Michigan football in the last twenty years. I think I'm gonna go with the Glasgow. I- Gill is you know, them pretty good as a linebacker. But I think he was overmatched by another by the other Devon Bush. Bush. Yeah. Five seed versus the twelve Delano hill to your starter at safety for the wolverines prior to. Josh Mattel had that big play against Indiana. I believe in tells them fifteen overtime game in which he broke up the past win and fourth down, really solid. Great speed versus the twelfth seed Eric Magnusson a starter. Right. Tackle during his career. Man as much as I love my offensive lineman. I really do. I'm gonna go Delano hill on this one. Yeah. I think that's the right. Pick seven ten matchup. Mason coal a four year starter along the offensive line, including one season at at center versus recently departed Tyree kennel a safety that played for the wolverines last couple of years. I hate that. You've had this pairing by the way. Really? I really do. I really do. I love me some tyreek hill. But I think I think Cole gets it's just based on. I mean, he hasn't missed a game since high school to now cardinals. Yeah, he's an iron, man. I gotta go coal. I I'm right there with y'all go with coal for your starter for the wolverines that very rarely happens in the history of Michigan football special on the offensive line. Right. I'd have to really think hard on it. Who's who's the last one to do it? And then the two fifteen matchup taco Charleston versus Jeremy Clarke. It's not Tuesday. But I'm taking taco. Yeah. This is. I mean, you know, the the question because we'll get to maybe at some point here taco Charleston versus chase winner. Veg? I think taco Charleston had a better individual season as a senior. But I think chase one of its just had a better overall career than Taco Bell taco ten and a half sacks his senior season pretty dynamic and really really was the the the best pass rusher on that team. All right in the final bracket here. Mo Hearst, the one seed versus sixteen Royce, drink stone. People can't see me doing it. But I'm rubbing the belly. Yeah. This is an easy. One eight nine match up to Monte Thomas starter at safety is final year for Michigan. Where Ben getting who's actually been a bit of a surprise in the in the NFL. I think he plays for the Vikings. Yeah. I believe he's with with with skull Vikings. And as a starter for them. Uh-huh. Considering to he wasn't bridge a starter. He busted his butt to get to get in. I'm gonna go with I'm gonna go with Gideon in this one America right there with you. You know, he was a two year starter from Michigan. He had a really good really good senior season fifteen and a half tackles for loss among hundred stops. He was better in pass coverage when he was given credit for. I think he he had I think five games his senior year of ten tackles ten tackles or more. I think this is one that just barely goes. Ben getting in the way. Yeah. But he gets it are the three fourteen matchup. Rashawn Gerry versus maybe has air quit pay. Yeah. I I'm going to go with Sean, but quitting is definitely. Is a very impressive, you know, air to that defensive line spot Ray where he's at all right? And in the next match up to six eleven Khaliq Hudson versus Shawn mccutcheon love, Sean McEwen. I think there's a lot upside to them, but I like leak the freak here. Yeah. I mean, again, it's it's so far we've seen the best of click. We've seen the best of mccune bowl them disappointed as juniors in terms of their overall production. But when they were sophomores, they're the they're the best guys at their spot and click cut was bettered his spot than Sean McEwen was the fourth thirteen matchup ban. Braida son Aben Bredesen's versus another ban bench. Mason. You know, how much I love Ben Mason. You know, I got I got a poster in my room of him. Just as his motto. I love football and a loved ahead. I'm going to give Ben Mason this one based on the here's the reason why not only has he been utilized as full as a fullback. But he's also wants to mold himself to be a position player where he can be utilized as well tight end defensive side of the ball. Do he's been on special teams as well. I'm going to give me Ben bench. Mason this one. I know you love him. But Harbaugh said it brought sense his best offensive lineman. And trust me, I can understand psalm and a half to overrule ruin Battiston are lavar hill at five versus Desmond Morgan at the twelve seed Levert. Yeah, I think that's the right. Call meaning the no fly zone. He's had two really good seasons at cornerback a little bit overshadowed by his teammate, David long. Desmond Morgan was a a starter in his fifth year for Jim Harbaugh in two thousand fifteen had a nice season. But really this. Is this is liberty hill. This is this is Libertyville and seven ten Nico Collins versus ten seed, John bushel Beatty. I think J BB's a great grey pickier, but new Collins really came into his own this past season, go Nico agree and his potential going forward is even bake as even higher love for him to stick around for two more seasons. I don't know that he will he might just last one more. But you know, he could put up he can put up sixty sixty catches this year. His ability to to go up and get the ball. Is the best on the team right now something we haven't seen in quite a few years, maybe since Jeremy gallon in under-sized guy. But a guy that really understood how to get it in the final two fifteen is chronic to versus true Wilson fifteen. Yeah. As much as we love Yellen. True. It's it's all right. I'm right there with you. When we come back, we'll perilous down to sixteen and then to eight and will allow you the voter to determine who is Jim Harbaugh's best all time player by voting out Twitter. Michael's bath. I teach a lot on sports talk. Ten fifty w..

"Especially if he does, you know move up that linebacker position like we were just discussing about in the last segment that if if you were to move up considering that you're looking at. You know, the first two games is coming up next year middle Tennessee State and an army two teams that I you know army obviously a huge rushing teams. He need to find someone that can contain that triple option attack that that army has been so good with you know, for for the past few years middle, Tennessee State. I think has been a pretty decent running team as well. But I think you're looking at a guy that should be able to contain the run if he moves up a guy that can contain the pass because it's going to essentially it's going to be him. That's going to be holding down that corner position. I don't know who take over the over David long spot, and I would say that at number three would probably be shaped Patterson. And I think the big thing he does need to work on coming into next year is is his arm. Well. Yeah. I don't I don't think generally speaking if you either guided or you don't when it comes to arm strength. I don't think he improves that that's significantly. But as we said yesterday, I'm lucky when you throw the ball more than thirty five forty yards. I it's not it's not like guys that have these huge arms are so significantly more accurate. They just got bigger arms. But your accuracy goes way down. Once you start throwing the ball that far the Trevor Lawrence is the world are the freak exceptions that doesn't happen. Very often. I mean, even look at two on the game the first long throw he had was perfect think he had like three or four more deep throws after that you completed one. But a lot of them were off target. That's just the way that it goes in in in in college, football and football. So I'm a little bit different than you guys. My number one is Donald people's Jones. Yeah, that's fair. I think when you look at it, and I love the exact you kept on qualifying. If you forget, the Florida and Ohio State games. But if you don't. I know I know. But if you don't forget those games, though him in Nico Collins in my opinion, still play like whites out in those games. Like, they didn't have an off day. Like so many of their teammates. Did you go and look at the the Florida game and both made terrific catches Dhamma people's Jones. I think you're flat out and say who is your number one playmaker on this team. It's Donovan people's Jones, whether you whether it's returning punts like we saw him have a return for a touchdown this year or it's getting the ball to him downfield. It's getting the ball to him on a your out where he can turn up field. He make something happen when he gets the ball. He's he's shown to have really good hands. He's not quite maybe as physical as as Nico is. But I would like to see him get the ball more on end arounds or jet. Sweeps him. He touched the ball three times on jet sweeps. This year. Jay Haas on the year that he was really good at it. Got it like twelve times teams have kind of snuffed out those they have they have. But but a lot big reason that they've snuffed him out for Michigan this past year was because they put guys in the field that weren't your weren't. Like, a typical why it was Ronnie bell would come in. And yeah, it was amber Thomas. You know, they were using guys that weren't. Traditionally if done the pills Jones on the fuel all the time and he's constantly running behind the quarterback. You can't just plan that he's getting a jet. Sweep also I did not say if I said forget, I didn't mean forget, but he my my point was with very hill. And Josh from tell us they struggled in the last two games. It's relevant. But also the very good football players. So then good seasons. My number two is Nico Collins. Again, I think that you look. Devin too, much, man. I know. But I think when you look at he didn't have he had like the longest reach stretch this year without a drop in across college football, most receptions, I believe drought. Okay. Yeah. He was was it thirty eight to fifty two. And those aren't we those targets those are not fourteen drops. It was just fourteen times. Where there wasn't like we just said he didn't have a drought. I know like the most ideal pass or he just couldn't come. It wasn't like forty reasons he didn't get the job done. He makes big plays. He's their best deep threat. We saw against Michigan state him go up and catch that one in the back of the end zone. I think he is ready to be a breakout player even more so than he was this past year. My number three is shaping. I don't have three plaque in my top time. Patterson a lot of people down on the Florida game. I think we forget how many plays he made on a scramble outside the pocket. How good he was. I honestly when you look at especially November. I think the coach is putting the reins on shape. Patterson was our class. Oh mistake. And they they really did not let him earlier in the season was more. Like they allowed him to be shaped Patterson later on the season. It was more. Like they were trying to keep him. You do the things that we want you to do to be successful. You gotta let shape Patterson. He's starting quarterback next year. You gotta let him be shaped Patterson, which is probably thirty or forty percent of his throws are outside of the pocket because he's so good. Whether he's rolling right or rolling to the left, then after that, I've got three defensive guys'll avert hill. Josh Mattel and click Hudson. But will certainly be a fun debate to have forward here. I think Donovan. It just depends on what day I could. I could put him in the top three. I think no offense lineman for you and your top ten it's hard to distinguish which one. And I'll say this too. Is that Jon Runyan junior was an all big ten first team performer, and there were some bad mistakes against Florida. Yeah. That for guy to be all big time all big time. I mean early on in the game. They take a sack, and you know, we watch the film yesterday in Damon's like how is a guy who's a fourth year player a full starter. And a guy that's all conference. Make that mistake in week thirteen. Yeah. I that happened too much yet. I don't know if you noticed I kind of said first team all big ten is if it was like, maybe maybe not a not a unanimous decision. I was a little surprised that he got the ninety. I think he had a really good middle chunk of the season. I don't know if he was one of the five best offensive lineman in the big ten agree. Yeah. Aren't we come back? We'll finish up. Our final six on six. Hot on sports talk. Ten fifty.

"Thanks miss. All right. So we're continuing our six on six here. Oh programming notes. Mo-? Peterson is not joining us today. I kinda thought of being at twelve thirty right now that you probably wouldn't be here. Yeah. He had some come up. Right. So it'll be back next Tuesday. Michigan had a tough loss last night to Merrimack. Did you go to the game? Zach. I don't think I missed. They lost four two. It was one to one going in the third period. Yeah. So obviously it was a bad third period. For. Yeah. Merrimack end up scoring seventeen seconds into the third. And I think they'd tell it another one on later on before Michigan made it a three to two game. And then they Merrimack an empty net goal made a forty two, and that's how it ended side note on that one. I don't know how I felt about Doug cars. John gone that game. Oh, really? Yeah. Randall wasn't on the call. So you had you had Merican you had Doug Karsh on the call for that one. Not sure how I felt about that one. No one up. Well, no, not sure kind of a little different. I would have thought maybe Shep. But then he I know he's dealing with. You know, the situation with his wife and his son. I know his son is doing fine. His wife is is recovering. Sounds like everything is is is moving in the positive direction with with chefs wife, at least though, I would say this in glad to hear, you know, some positive news on shepherds match average family, but he can't do everything. No. I know. I just think that you know, when it comes to the whole next person to take over I think, immediately, my mind goes to match think of Matt I mean when you look at it, basketball and hockey they've got a lot of overlapping games. And so on. They have a hockey dedicated play by play guy, which L Randall was Ben for I don't how many years has been doing for quite a while. Yeah. For for for a bit here. But the Tuesday night. This is kind of a different situation. The only I mean, the only did you not like him at like he was bad. No, I I. The principle of it. I don't know. All right. No, I guess, you know, I guess Al was was under the weather. So I guess that's reason. Why? Yeah. But I mean like as far as the whole Tuesday thing, I mean, you've got the Mel show that happens on Tuesday over a principles. I mean, that's I think the only other reason why. But was it obvious to you because you obviously are play by play guy for eastern, Michigan hockey. And so you you do this. And you're hoping obviously we'd love to see you build it into something. So was your issue with it that Doug Karsh is not a play by play guy and got that opportunity or was it that it was just a bad play by play that you're listening to. I think it's I I think he's he's is not a play by play guy per se. But I mean, I'm not I'm not, you know, Disney on the guy for million on on the run sounds like you might be. The fault does not lie with the person the fault lies the person who made the decision to let him do it instead of someone such as well. I mean, I couldn't do it because I was back your as executive producer for women's basketball. But then again, I don't know where the hell I put my foot in the door to get a shot at it. You know, why I'll tell you. What miss? I'll I will see what we can do to help. You put your foot in the door to get a shot at something like that the next time done. I mean, you've done hockey, and he does Michigan baseball and softball, and when IRA isn't well the thing is about that. As we switched that up where it's just are out at the baseball and softball solo now. The one time. I think that he couldn't do it. That was when you took. Okay. Well, let's do it. How do you define Portia? Hey, well, considering that there was a there was a weather delay at that time too. So I mean, we had to do it makes the fixings on the run the thing that you're getting too though is what is for so many people in every business right is like how do I I'm working really hard? How do I get my opportunity? Right. And I will tell you that we have this. Great listenership, and so as they're listening right now. And you've got a lotta love from people that especially reckless people people like miss if the if the ability rate is like Michael sixty percent and Zach sixty one percent, that's probably MS like ninety eight percents. So you've got that. So we've got this. Great listenership, so there's somebody out there listening right now. This is like, hey, you know, maybe I can help miss out, but I'll do this too. I mean, we've got really good connections in Michigan hockey. I'm happy to pass that along and say, look, you guys have a you have a situation come up dogs a great guy. He can he he does a lot of things from Michigan. But there's other people in the market. That do do this that are play by play hockey guys. But we'll hook you up with one of them and give in for because you deserve it. You you work your your. You're gonna say I can say that word, but you work your rear end off. So we'll we'll help you get that you keep it rated. Say I work my ass off from Bill. He's a big dumb animal, folks. That's what I need right now. Talking about me anyway, regarding Michigan's loss dropped them to twenty eighth in the pair wise. Yeah. I mean Merrimack was towards the bottom of your two out of sixty. They've got some bad losses on their schedule this year, basically this weekend must win next weekend. Must-win basically, they gotta they gotta hit be even even better than last season to close the season to make the tournament. Yeah. And I wouldn't I don't think most people are expect them to. I think they'd have to win the postseason big ten tournament. If we had an honest conversation, or when we have an honest conversation. I mean, he would never say that because he's going to always be looking for the next game. It's what's focused on. But. Yeah, I mean like they had some they came into the year. They thought they had a goalie situation figured out. The situation has been back and forth. They needed some offensive players to ROY stop up with the. EMC line moving on Josh Norris has a little bit and Mike Nick passage off has. But really nobody else has stepped up offense. Like, they're great at controlling the puck and firing shots. They're not going in and edit certain point. That's not luck. That's not a goal. That's not the opposing goalie standing on their head every single weekend. That's that's finishing problem. Yeah. I mean, the the shooting percentages, you know, they've got a whole pepper. The nets mean hell the the Minnesota series the second game they hit fifty shots on net. But they only I think got three goals out of that game as well too. So I mean, you can tell that the shooting percentage is going to be extremely low. If you can't find the back of the net after fifty shots on goal. They don't have. So they've played three teams. I believe outside the top thirty of the pair wise with RPI extra four teams. Right because he played Michigan tack Michigan state, Vermont and Merrimack. I don't think they have a win over any of them. Wow. They've tied. Michigan state twice. I was gonna say, where's LS them? They think like states having a good year. Yeah. Like states in the top thirty. Oh there number. Yeah. They tied. Michigan state twice the lost to Michigan state once they lost Vermont and they lost to Merrimack enemy. Tide and lost in a shootout. Michigan tac. Yeah. They've had a few winnable games. That didn't go that. They didn't win or took to tie because I think in the pair wise whether you win the shootout or win over time tonight. This counts the tie. And so and the other thing keep in mind is harder to move up because the big ten isn't quite a stack this year. I mean, Wisconsin is twenty four Minnesota's twenty six. I think obviously Ohio State four Weena bowl this weekend. A sweep on the road at St. we do a lot. But also it's hard to come by twelve and four this year Notre Dame seven Penn State eleven so not quite as loaded as it had been in previous years. They do have to wins over Saint Lawrence who I guess is actually the worst team in college hockey. So. But yeah, I mean every they didn't win those games. I mean, I mean Avary golden opportunity they've had with the exception of beating Notre Dame in the in the outdoor game last weekend. They haven't been it'll take advantage of. It's just that they're having that type of season, and they're just they can't score and they have defensive lapses. And they've got a goalie problem with big the keep on going back and forth between the two they can't figure out which one is the right one. Because every time they give somebody an opportunity to run with it. He then has a game where he gives up four goals and looks bad. Yeah. Merrimack by the way for those listening at home who maybe don't follow Merrimack is six and fifteen this year. And they don't play in a conference like the big ten. So there they were. E you also have to imagine who's who's going to schedule a road only Tuesday game in the middle of January. You know, probably teams that want that don't have very many opportunities to to win. So they're look into you know, kind of spread their brand maybe pull off an upset here there because I think Meramec beat northeastern this weekend too. So yeah, pretty pretty tough loss. This is a this is like a basketball team losing to a MAC team kind of loss. All right. Let's get back six on six. The question was is Michigan's number one player going in two thousand nineteen. And who do you have is your top three players only ask question a year ago? The you had Patterson up there and Krahn Higdon. But I think two out of the top ten offense players. Yeah. Dramatic the year before that where I think it was like one out of the top ten was offensive player this year. You're going gonna see a lot more offensive guys because that's the strength coming back after the season. Absolutely. I think there might actually be more just because of who's establish there might be more offense of players in my top ten and defensive players. I mean, you know, just basically go position by position offense has a lot of multi your starters coming back defense does not. As far as my top player. I'm probably gonna go with shape Patterson because I think he was a top five player this season for Michigan. I know people are a little weary of his ballgame. Maybe some of the inaccurate throws. Maybe some of the the process time to decide what to do was a little slow. But I think I think if you're gonna if you're gonna harp on the bowl game in the Ohio State game. And arguably the Indiana game gotta look how sharp was against other good defenses in the big ten. So he's probably probably number one is doing most important. He would definitely be number one. Two and three. I'm actually gonna go Lavertu hill. And Ben Bredesen's. So I'm leaving out those receivers they're probably in the top ten possibly all three. Definitely Nico counts down in people's Jones. I'm leaving out maybe some other offense lineman first team all big ten lineman. Jon Runyan, John Rennie junior. I should say click Hudson. We just talked about him. He had a fantastic sophomore season junior season wasn't quite there in the same in the same way. I think Josh Mattel's really, I know again, it's like all of these things after I have the caveat. If you don't count the Ohio State and Florida games, but you do, but I still think Mattel took a step forward this year. I still I still like Carlo Kemp probably more than most do. I think the coaches are really like him. And he's he's someone I wouldn't count him out if they're doing four captains I wouldn't count them out as as someone who could get the nod because he's he's got that kind of presence with team. So was probably my top ten. So I would say to me the guy coming into two thousand nineteen. Probably gotta be gotta be Vert. I think mean, what was it hammer was David line that you had that that stead the rose David Hill did hold opponents to around a forty percent completion rate. I don't have the exact number. Okay. So I mean to me I think when it comes down to a he's probably to me the top guy coming back and what he wants. He wants to kind of go off on top of me. He could have he could have gone to draft easily this year and been a a decent pick along with David long. Obviously, I think she is probably in the discussion the top three as well too. I don't think it have them. And number two. I think to me number two, you might actually be the guy that we just mentioned in the last name weekly guts and..

"Or is there an opportunity that Michigan could be better better served with maybe a speedy smaller inside linebacker in Khaliq Hudson to kind of compliment what they have with with Devon Gill who's very fast Josh Ross who has speed. But I don't think he has the same kind of speed that Khaliq Hudson has so I think to me it's one of those things I'd have to see it. But I think I think Michigan could be better served and don't forget they have. Excuse me couple safeties. Jalen, Kelly Powell and Brad Hawkins who who played viper. Their freshman year three. They tried him out. There didn't quite like what they saw. So they moved him back to safety. But maybe maybe you try again, maybe you try with another safety mean they've got a lot of safeties. And I assumed Dax hills gonna start over all of them, you know, as with Josh Mattel's. So maybe do you say John John Kelly Powell, hey bulk up we're on your cigarette. Brad Hawkins sixteen pounds right now. Bulk up get ready to get ready to stop some runs. Get ready to get into the backfield. I think it's worth a try. Yeah. If if I'm dislike doing my. Lack of information. But just guessing what I think works best, right? My whole thing about Ben Bredesen's should have been a tackle Rashard. Gary should've played defense on the inside a little bit more. I think it's worth a try. I think it's I think it could be a good luck. I don't think it's crazy. I think he he fits it. I think Michigan's personnel. Maybe doesn't demand for it. But could be better served with it. So I like it. Vertu betterment of the team. Obviously, you try to make the change repetition. I don't know about that. Ms do you really want? If you're if you're running Michigan football. Do you really want to do what's best for Michigan football? I don't know. Let me think about that. Yeah. I would Zachary I would want to I mean. You're you're obviously we've seen Josh Ross trying to take over the role that Devin Bush leftover you know during the peach bowl game. And there has been a struggle. I would think but again that was mostly listening to the game not really getting a chance to watch the game. Thanks through the TV in here in the studio. So that was also a big hinder on my end. But I mean. I'll be honest when you guys say, Mike, and will I keep thinking about is some dues they Mike. And will I don't know what the difference between the two when it comes to the linebacker position. As far as the interior. I'm assuming one is like strong side ones. Weakside linebacker. I have no idea all say is that, you know, you wanna find the best fit for whatever position you get. If that means having Khaliq move up to a linebacker position. Then totally put it plug them into the spot. If it means putting him as a as free safety or whatever put him there. It's basically the next man up floppy if you're the next man up the best suit that position than fill that spot. Yeah. Well, I think certainly be something to keep an eye on. There's going to be a lot of movement. When you've got as many defensive losses as they have had losing, you know, losing a safety losing one of their starting Cornerbacks losing Devon Bush, obviously losing to defensive ends. There's gonna be a lot of jockeying that goes on in this this off season and then certainly in spring ball and going into football season. So that's one to keep an eye on. He does look like he could get big enough and play the middle spot. Could they get more out of the viper? Could they get a different type of hybrid than they've had in the past is as good as as fast as Clarkson is using off the edge. A lot of teams were able to it takes them longer to get to the quarterback then comes straight up the middle like Devin Bush was able to in his ability to to be able to cover from the middle. Like we saw they used and Bush as the guy that covered the the running back out of the backfield. Maybe something like Klay constant can be really good there. He certainly motivated. He looks like he wants to be a leader. You're always wanna put your your best player and your leader at the Mike spot. So certainly wanna keep a look on. When we come back who is Michigan's number one player, and who are the top three players going into the nineteen sports talk to him. Stockton, fifty W took it..
