Senator Jim DeMint on Why He Wrote His New Book 'Satan's Dare'
"Kirk show with us today as a friend of mine, senator Jim demon, a great American who has a new book out called Satan's dare, very interesting, just kind of reading the overview here, senator, thank you for joining our show. Why did you write Satan's dare? Well, well, Charlie, it's a novel, but as Josh McDowell said there's more truth in it than just about any other nonfiction. I'm just convinced that America is declining because the Christian church is declining. This country was founded on judeo Christian ideas, which come right out of the Bible. And I don't see too many Christians today who have the confidence in their faith to defend the truth of the Bible. And so this is a story of people who are dealing with suffering and tragedy in their lives and asking a lot of questions, but there's several debates in the book between science and the Bible. But the whole point for me is to prove that the Bible is true in science actually proves that it's true. And every one I've talked to who's read it said they came out with a lot more confidence in what they believe and even skeptics are asking some more serious questions. So the connection with politics is is we're dealing with symptoms in Washington. And the symptoms of no truth and a loss of freedom, we're told that truth and freedom began with the knowledge of God. And so we just need to remember that if we want to keep our country,
Terry McAuliffe Struggles Down the Stretch in Virginia Governors' Race
"I have been talking all morning about the new Terry mcauliffe in which he says, don't believe Gwen young. He's lying about me taking out a context. It's a pretty old rule Josh that if you're talking about the other guy in the last two weeks of a campaign, it hadn't gone well for you. Yeah, you followed so many campaigns over the years. They'll find of a campaign that's struggling to calibrate its message in the final few weeks of an election. It's not a good sign. I mean, if you live in Virginia, you've seen ad after ad slamming mcauliffe on education, slamming my collar on the debate comment he made saying that parents should be secondary to school boards and school administrators. And he had not changed his position he had doubled down triple down underscore that in many interviews. I saw it in last week that they think. And now they're up with an ad trying to clarify his remarks, mcauliffe said they were taking out of context as a debate in this advertisement. But look, I mean, education is the number one issue in my reporting on the Virginia governor's race. This is something that's just rallying the Republican base, but it's moving to moderate motors in the suburbs towards the Republican side. And I think McCollum now sees that. I wrote a column just about a school closure so the fact that my call didn't realize school closures were an issue when he announced his campaign last year in front of a school that was closed and didn't mention anything about reopening schools are coming up with a plan last year to reopen schools. And then later on, he kind of addressed as his own supporters as his own voters saw that was an issue that was resonated with a lot of voters. He's been slow on the uptick and realizing these issues have resonance in Virginia. And I think it's going to be a big problem for him in the close and stretch.

'Woke' Media Fails to Ask NBA Coach About China
"Com. Josh cross how are you and NBA fan? Somewhat. I mean, I kind of lost interest in the NBA when wizards don't make the playoffs at all. But yeah, I follow the NBA. I like basketball. Say you know, Popovich is allegedly this brilliant guy. He's very good basketball coach, but yesterday, Gruden gets fired from misogynistic homophobic emails and Popovich compares Columbus to Hitler and doesn't get asked a question about the genocide in China and the Uyghurs in his complicity in that. What's wrong with the NBA sports media? Well, not just the sports media, it's the leadership of the NBA, which I think they've suffered the most of all the four sports leagues because they got the most political, all the leaks of some extent have gotten more political than they once were, but the NBA really just like, I remember during the bubble season they put Black Lives Matter on the court. They let players offer their political takes on things left and right. And that's not a great place to be. We want one of the top roles of building a good team and effective team is that you're not divided by politics. You're one team and you don't talk about these issues that have nothing to do with the MBA. Popovich has a long history of offering his political takes. This becomes a no surprise to me that he says something like that. Well, I don't mind is giving his hot political takes, but if he's gonna give it take on Hitler, genocide, slavery in Columbus, somebody ought to ask him about the Uighurs and the ongoing genocide in China from which he profits yes and so much of sorry, someone should ask the silver and someone should ask a lot of the players who play in China, you know, what they think about that. Not so much more relevant, timely issue for the NBA, at least, but you're right, that there's sort of a double standard and you don't get the type of scrutiny. You're going to open everything up to politics. You might as well should be talking about issues that directly affect the NBA and the bottom line. And if you're going to hijack if you're going to hijack a basketball press conference to rant about Hitler in Columbus, you're going to get asked to China question if you have a real

Why the Virginia Governors Race Matters to Democrats
"I'm joined now by josh cross. Our josh i have a theory. The only way to stop the democrats from spending two trillion three trillion four trillion. It's for terry mcauliffe to get beat by ten points. What do you think of my theory that. The virginia governor's race matters. And how congress decides these massive tax hikes and spending bills. Well look you the time. Line the political time line that was unted because of the president biden and close over over the last week. It's october thirty first. They wanna get this this deadline for the reconciliation and the infrastructure bill. That's very optimistic. If it even goes a few days late you got that. Virginia governor's race and mcauliffe loses in the polls are extremely close in virginia. I mean that would sap any momentum loss democratic loss in virginia whatsapp any momentum to get anything done as it stands now having. Terry mcauliffe is very aggravated. That democrats didn't have a deal last week because the the perception of democrats divided not getting what they promised done and the left wing of the party. Virginia's a moderate state democratic they these days but it's a moderate state and the notion that you have. Afc squad pramilla giant paul holding the whip hand in the party gets the moderate is not a good look. It's not what terry mcauliffe wants with closing week. Virginia
Democrats Fight Over $3.5 Trillion Budget Buster
"It's a victory. Monday a big victory. Monday as both the cleveland browns and the ohio state buckeyes win this weekend. The buckeyes sneaking past rutgers barely forty five points ahead of them. I guess and the browns eking out a win in the frozen tundra of minnesota called. Although it's a covered stadium. Of course nevertheless the vikings are always tough going for the browns. And so it's victory monday. I'm very happy and some of you are thinking to yourselves. Why is he happy. The democrats are going to pass a two and a half trillion dollar bill. Look i know it. I know that there was much wailing and gnashing of teeth among democrats this weekend over the fact that they could not get done what they wanted to get done last week which was spent three and a half trillion dollars of money that we don't have just printing it and i understand that the left democrats and the liberal democrats are fighting each other. That's all fine. What matters to me is that came out and spoke this weekend. Which means i really don't have to work today. All i have to play the afc tape. So let me do the rundown for his from the wall street journal. Democrats way cutting programs or reducing scope to trim three point five trillion dollar bill. That's how the journal sees the discussions are underway but not the new york times the new york times progressive stand firm on priorities as infrastructure debate continues so in the journal they're compromising and the new york times they're holding their positions the wall street journal editorialize is the humiliation of the house. Moderates there are no house. Democratic moderates but referring to josh gotten amer and others who got a ironclad commitment from nancy pelosi to have a vote on the infrastructure bill. She lied to them and they are humiliated. But it doesn't matter.

We were dealing with the strike so people would wear red on fridays because they wanted to show unity. I would wear black friday. Because i gotta be gotta be anti ship and i started doing this thing where i remember seeing certain artists and i'm always one of those people who observes artists observes the creative types while being in the space but observing as well. "Makes them ever blocks so wait. You actually use giant legos. So there's a company called the ever blog and they decided to make these giant legos that are like printed or molded. they actually don't know who their target audiences they're selling the mainly companies showing the How built cubicles there a marketing at his house. Hacking maybe have a giant loft apartments anti floor. Plan to take these legos. You can redesign the rooms to whatever's wherever you want the even have modular like doors that are full very kind of a maybe a japanese taipa simplistic door system. That's a really cool solution and not have to worry about tearing down walls or anything. I mean it's not perfect. Because then i'm sure you don't really get the soundproofing or are things like that. That would increase privacy. But i mean it looks like a very easy way to do. Things absolutely had these legos. insolation between the barriers. You've acoustic panels. There's a lot of review. Do a modular options. I printed out and the benefit of lake ever watched us down again. We're not Walk is being able to take them with you. Say decided to become how soccer. And you're gonna use these over thirty years. Theoretically they shouldn't deteriorate or having issues that if you need to re size rooms so if you wanna have one giant space and the next day just redesign you can The cost now. I think i've calculated it would be thousands of dollars instead of hundreds if you just go to home depot and you're trying to divide a room you can really just measure everything out. Go to home depot. Lowe's a bunch of hubei wars. You can ask in the store hating at these down to x. y. z. whatever size. they'll handle that for you on top to my voters even both those together again online. You can get a guy to do this. It should just take a day. You can apply some kind of barrier And just the would cost allowing media. Couple hundred dollars. You can get a fully framed door which again you'll have a door that locks and now you taking something like an open living room and you can have a floor-to-ceiling Divider walls and lakhdar. When i first moved to downtown dallas. I actually only had a curtain. So when i was meeting a my future roommate i fully explain the situation. I basically showed him that he would have bedroom with lock door. I had to trust a little bits. I installed I just use some three ama- kotex installed them along. It has a ceiling mounted affords ealing her draped and basically just had them running along this entire area. I think i had maybe two solid ones. You could probably have some free standing rack. That can hold up a curtain or some basic divider right behind him set up just to have some feeling that there was actually a wall. But i didn't. Let's not having a wall at arear to get started on the process. As soon as i had my talent we signed a lease. He gave me a deposit. Gave me first month's rent and now you can actually ask for me additional monthly rent or like last month's rent if you want sometimes just having that that money that can fuel the construction costs any relations. You need to do down the road so he spent all your money. I'm the robbery. The influx of what happens when you sign a lease. You're gonna have a big payday right. That's true yeah that's a. That's a few different creative ideas to think about especially the the ever blocks one. I never even heard of those but glad. I learned about that. In case i Ever need them. I guess but Yeah and i feel like there might need opportunity for somebody to create like a blocked showroom. I think originally approached them. Maybe like four years ago out. Maybe purchasing three five thousand dollars where that walks basically being the first lingo home media may in the news and acting at showroom so that other virus could kind of see what the final product looks like when it's fully utilized jones. I heard back but there definitely is an opportunity if somebody wanted to go that route not justify the product but maybe even partner with the brand and get some kind of a affiliate commission when people see the lehto home and to make same purchase. You probably get some portion of the sales and would be very lucrative arrangement. Yeah glad we added in that last. Bit grow your cash dot com. I will put a link and the description and with that. "If you rent out a unit absolutely. Let's take a step back and just talk about how lending works so if you work as a w. two employees. You just get a job you get your paycheck. Think with an alert to patients. You can go talk to you. A mortgage lender. They'll let you borrow based off the assumed. It extrapolate your paycheck. They assume you're gonna make that for the rest of the year. The let you borrow up to forty percent of that at take home. Pay and considerate. How and that forty five percent of your income is considered a again. The mortgage h wade taxes. So though limit year-old to that extent in my experience property taxes in hoa at least condos are going to be half the cost so if you have one thousand dollars those fees collectively whatever's left is what you're going to get a mortgage and when it comes to buying a home mortgage. It plays a part in it. So if you're buying one hundred thousand dollars property and you only have five thousand like in my circumstance. I had to finance the remaining ninety five thousand so the ninety five thousand you have to fit into some kind of payment land. Whether it's fifteen years thirty years sometimes bank will just say no. You can't afford elise costs on help each other I remember even in the back then. My income was actually a little under forty thousand. The kind of stretched. My housing was on paper. Forty to forty five percent of my income so Without a roommates it dakhla navy house were with remained that create a lot of margin. Now what happens if the housing market goes south. How does that affect you. Or how would it affects any other potential real estate enthusiasts. So that's what i love about. How sacking in economy people are looking for rooms. They want to reduce expenses. Made any lost a job and it's choosing between do they move back home with their parents. Were they actually rent a room and maintain some level of it engines as the house. Hacker owns the property. Or maybe you're renting armenta and your subleasing you don't have too much concern because house hacking typically the longer term game. You're not worried about property gallon. What year by the time you're selling it's gonna be a completely different market so try to novel. The downside a in texas for instance. Poppy taxes are so high. If your value goes down your cost of ownership actually vogel down as well so in the short run you'll actually be benefit from this. That's a good point. The price of the house doesn't really matter until you're looking to sell and i understand you also want to cover problems so talk to us about the problems with housing. I think there's kind of a general consensus especially with millennials zuma's younger generations. It's really hard to break into owning a house. Nowadays basically the ownership is a problem as well as even the rents are increasing A lot of new housing developments mainly there in had the luxury criteria the way delivers. Look at it is. It's not that much more expensive just build luxury and then you can command much higher rent. There's also a lot of tech workers that are making hundred thousand plus dollar salary hundred thousand dollar salaries ultimately anyone who's making less. It's difficult to kind of compete in not a housing market like you said in the beginning. You're giving up privacy to make everything more cost efficient but from your view it seems like there can also be a lot of positives to co living so i started live with roommates again. Prior to code ultimately realize importance immediately with surrounding yourself with able to socialize with. If you're single you're not currently living with significant other. Don't have ed's it's a poor naveh again admitted people around you. They're supportive having passed on. And you kind of get these benefits without hacking where mate. Your roommate has a daughter. You don't actually have to We've out alive the long-term care aspects of past that you get a short term gratification of being part of that nuts household and you also get the benefit of just perspective of the housemates lift with have had humble be be perspective on their career pass their choices and feeling what it missed out a lot without those experiences yet because people you live with can be anybody versus on say your job. You meet people. They're probably going to be pretty similar to you in terms of how they think about things. That's a motivation for the podcast. To you know get to get all these different views from everybody absolutely noticed that echo chamber a lot of companies as an accountant. I'm working with other counts. Very similar mindset ultimately a you do choose healing with when it comes to house hacking. You're able to create a room as affordable inner desirable area. You'll actually have hundreds of thousands of applicants so you have a lot of choice on who you wanted to share your life with. I've always made it a point to actually sit down and have a meal. Maybe have a drink with future. Co living house made to understand what they are with. Their plans are with their lifestyles. Like make sure Lines it doesn't have to be a random or scary process that can be very safe formula where you run background checks credit checks you make sure they are who they say they are. Maybe they have references. Yeah that's where. I was gonna go next about your whole process for choosing a housemate. How do you find people. And what do you do to make sure that they are living material. Which i guess you just covered in many speech about getting meals and doing credit checks yes. I think there's different tiers of applicants. ideally you have kind of a friend of a friend They're sayings about winning with your friends directly that if you choose to live with them you might not be friends by the end of the lease just because.

And so he said again Newsome said this and I quote not everybody is going to join hands on this but one thing I know this is a trend line that will become a headline across the rest of the world. We are not just going to be the back of the bus. We are going to be leading. Once again, we're going to be driving its accelerated change so often do some a set of disorders necessary as transportation is responsible for over half of the carbon emissions inside of California. And this is this is debated if is a coach True, but I'm just trying to push this environmental agenda in by 2035. He's trying to enforce this and these carbon emissions have been a real issue among the voter base in California. So this is something that's likely going to be popular of getting rid of gas sale cars, but this is not stop the Trump Administration and the Republican party in general from could not a little bit of criticism on Governors. They said that you thought just stopped a private business or selling cars itself the job of government to intervene. How dare the government step is dirty. Boot inside of my business. Stop us from selling cars, which are my cars to sell new some you are infringing on my rights. And so they said that they also said it's not going to make much of a difference the driver stopping you're not banded gas cars. Anyways, you're just ban a Salesman by 23% What's that going to do? People are still going to be using gas cars and what they'll do is just refurbish them. If you really insist on just shutting shutting it down, you know, people just come to your house and build it for you if they need to like there's a game. Rolls around this Republican party saying is this really necessary. In fact, the Trump Administration is opened up a lawsuit against Governor Newsome to try to counter this but we'll see where that goes most federal law suits and State Governor suing president which happens a lot in President Trump's doing State Governors usually doesn't doesn't get anywhere a bunch of politicking. Yeah a lot of politicking. But anyways, this is a little bit less politics. In fact, this is a little bit of humorous story cuz we're going to move over to Australia and New Zealand humorous to my nationalistic New Zealand friends. Yes, it's quite expensive according to the flag person that will get you in a second. But anyways, yeah and the Australian state of South Wales, which is where the city of Sydney is located, you know, the famous Sydney the beautiful city in Australia the Opera House house Bridge. Yeah, it's all there in Sydney. They decided that they want to make a mistake and which this is regarding this mistake is regarding the flag of New Zealand. So what's wrong with the flag? Well, it's designed was a little dog..

Anyways, we're gonna talk about trash now cuz I know yourself off I'm kidding. I feel really bad now. It's okay. I'm sorry because massive amounts of trash. I'm not just me have rolled up on the shores of Honduras in a tourist city of Obama. So what is Obama? Why don't we talk about Ammo affirmative action was a sparkling Mediterranean City with that crystal clear blue water. So if you people are on the other side of the ocean in Europe and Asia Africa, you guys don't know the Caribbean like us Americans do it's the only place that a lot of Americans God. We know it for its sparkling beautiful Waters beautiful as far the eye can see with see right whites. And yeah, it's it's supposed to be beautiful city and there's trash everywhere and where did this trash come from? Guatemala came from Guatemala this trash flowed to Honduras from Guatemala, which has anger the authorities local authorities and Hunters wonder why is there a bunch of try? Like they wake up the next day. There's a bunch of trash just sitting here on the shores of omoa. Are you kidding me Josh? What were you doing in Guatemala? But I just I'm sorry no more so cold here. So yep. Official statement from the environment Ministry and Honduras release will this statement regarding the trash? They said quote we are committed to clearing our beaches and keeping them clean. But today we are demanding that authorities in Tegucigalpa. And I'm going to stop Google for a minute two examples the capital of Honduras and consume quo take strong actions actions to find a permanent solution to this problem this wave of trash which came from the mud bath River really surprised Us in even though it caused problems. It has not stopped our activities. So especially in the coronavirus pandemic tourism is the industry's kind of struggling in general. And so the touring package are there they don't like they let's go in the water but there's a bunch of trash. It's they don't find it comfortable. They're paying for this vacation. Why would I want to sit and trash so you're not seeing people going to a lower right. Now. This is really saying this is just cause a lot of it. Not a lot of tensions Honduras. The central government is not directly angry at Guatemala. I mean, they're not like we're going to declare war on you over your trash. But there's just kind of annoyed. They're like, why you gotta clean up? Okay, dude, it's my neighbor leaves their trash on my yard. I'm kind of invade though. Yeah, baby to just wipe them how long it's so yeah, the Guatemalan Authority says that the cause of this was Heavy Rain from the river that I said earlier The Mont agua River. Hope I'm pronouncing that right but Faith at River. They said it flooded and then the trash has carried over to the shores of all MOA was not our fault. It's the rain man. It's the rain is what my neighbor said. Yeah and so odd, that's really interesting because the environmental environmental Ministry and Honduras is just quite annoyed by this..

"That the FED always makes statements point to the CPI saying oh look inflation is down and we have to increase it, but I mean, maybe that's just something to kind of appease the lame an even though they have all these sport complex reasonings that they're not really putting out there. Well, they can't jack up rates, you know home at the end of the day if inflation did creep up and you did Jack up rates and then they're going to create a recession, you know, then it becomes political, you know, and then I unfortunately there is like this this human bias too in which you know, if you've ever noticed like we do have more expand like the period of expansion is always longer than the period of bust down the and overall rationale for that is because people like expansions rather than like bus, even though theoretically you need both in order to be able to moderate and economic cycle what panics are also usually allows her just because people panic yeah panics are think are due to a fundamental issue. But an extra sharper because people panic I don't know how to I meant to say I meant to say Corrections or sharper because people panic psychologically. Yeah, there's a lot of there's a lot of psychology. It's difficult to be able to assess why things happen the way they do, you know, and that's why they really say that, you know the market of an animal their their own animals their own be sometimes they feed into themselves like with all this high-frequency trading going on bubbles appreciate faster than they should because it starts filling in all these algorithms which they they feed into it, you know, all this or the lowest go lower like when we had the flash crash in 2010 that was literally created by just high-frequency trading. You know, now that they have all these these these brakes that are put into place to to basically stop that. Yeah. I don't know we just Who knows man? Like I think realistically the biggest concern which which I think is becoming people talking about more investor Community is people are talking about climate change, you know, see the rise of something called ESG guidance, you know, which is environmental social governance..

"I mean ideally wish you should actually be able to see how many of those they have their, you know, like and in order to be able do that requires huge it investment requires huge Logistics and Supply operations like but they weren't doing that because they have dog. My interest rate bill that they were just basically just paying the interest and they were dealing with cutting expenses rather than reinvesting in themselves. Like I read a really in-depth report on them in which they said that they weren't even doing high dusting so high dusting is basically literally this idea that you know, every couple of months. You should clean the top of of fans or or lights in your store. And the reason why is because if you don't every now and then a large clump of dust will fall off the light and down onto the floor which is which is crazy like you as a customer if you walk into a store like that you're not going to want that so they were cutting high dusting, you know, they were cutting janitorial expenses. They were just cutting to the Bone and if you cut too much because you have such a high interest burn off and then you start losing your customer, you know, and so they obviously I mean everyone talks about Amazon that you know Amazon dick. It's hard to compete with Amazon, but but there are examples of brick-and-mortar retailers that were able to compete with a month. Because they were keeping they were reinvesting in their business and they were keeping up with with the competitors, you know, a good example would be again. This is pretty covid-19. Other competitors within there and when you were talking about corporate day you were talking about how these low interest rates have made the debt more affordable. But with covideo going do you think covid-19 or punishing to these companies because they were so levered. Yes. So Leverage is Leverage is a dual edged sword suck. What what leverage I'm going to give you a rundown of an lbl..

"They would rather incur Investment Banking fees or underwriting fees and restructuring phone number. Is because no one wants to have an actual credit loss, you know what I mean? So so unfortunately what happens is that yeah, you will see companies that are built either have negative ebitda, which means that they're not generating any probs. So you have what's called negative leverage leverages debt over Eva. Or you'll have just companies that are you know hundred times that deep. Because they're even dies so low and so those companies in or out you know, they're being propped Along by just loose credit standards and the idea that things are going to turn around. So yeah hundred percent freak over there is there's a lot of froth in it's the job markets and people are very speculative that is kind of crazy. And I wonder if these zombie companies will continue to exist as long as rates continue to be so low. It's definitely a thought. I think one one interesting thing that's happened is that unfortunately covid-19 is just such a disrupter in the sense that it's LED certain businesses to have to deal with zero Revenue log. so, you know the biggest sectors that are being hit are our brick-and-mortar retail our our Leisure, you know, which would be like hotels or or cruise lines and it's interesting because there is this overall idea that even if they get through covid-19 Have their backlog and you divide the two and I forgot Boeing and Airbus would have multiple multiple years of backlogs Revenue indicating that you know, it would take me this many years to get through the contracts they had in place. So everything's up in the air. But yeah, I think one hundred percent for certain businesses that are not dealing with zero revenues coming in there. There's definitely the ideal life, you know yields are going to be interested in going to be low for so long that they will be propped up. But yeah, I mean there's there's a Tipping Point, you know, like the one of Altima like one of the interesting credit ratios that people look at is off the interest and you know, the magic numbers one and four low for this is for lower much, you know, poor distressed companies, but if you if the events generate can't even cover your interest expense then Something's Gotta Give Your going to start under investing in your business. You're not going to be able keep up with the times, you know, and and that's happened with them. Industries, I've I've focused on a lot especially as a lot of his distressed retail and it just through happenstance, but you know, you had like classic companies like Toys R Us. You know Toys R Us was acquired in a leveraged buyout. They had a lot of debt on their balance sheet. And so rather than it really investing into their core operations rather than you know, I'm sure they had a good clean website rather than making sure that cuz even with even with having websites not enough, you know, you need to be able to have What's called the omnichannel experience and what you need to be able to see like if I click on a certain store and I want to buy a toy I want to ideally they should have a good Logistics..

Hey, what's going on? Well, first of all, you know, thanks for having me on your podcast glad to I think it's really cool experience. You've never done anything like this before but you know, I think you know the past year has been kind of crazy. I think you know in May 2019. I got engaged down and up to basically March of this year. I thought we were going to get married. This was to have a big big, you know, like four hundred people wedding, but you know coronavirus came along. I think it's interesting. You know, I've been living in New York City through it all I think one interesting thing which happened was no, we hit the surge The Surge happened, you know, my fiancee works in the medical profession. So she had to deal with it on the front line some really scary stuff. To be honest, so, you know this inconvenience of not having a wedding. It's not it's a small price to pay given what's going on but through all of it, you know what I mean? We both lived in, you know at the time separate Apartments now, we're moving into an apartment together in the East Village of New York City. So right now just you know, my mom has a mass because I'm just unpacking everything but the good news is that we did get a puppy. So that's been a huge distraction for everything. But yeah, that's what's going on right now that does sound crazy having to do a nursing job in the midst of all this she's not in her she's a doctor. But yeah my mistake for some reason I don't know why I like from a past conversation. We had I thought it was like a nursing thing. I don't know. But yeah, okay..

"Then like I like the I kind of like the bigger thing that really I felt like was like making me move somewhere was out the polar express. I did like the motion capture with Tom. Hanks Robert Zemeckis and all of this as a ten year old. I was playing like the boy in so like that. Experience for me was it. Was I think at that time? I really could grasp the luck and the everything associated with being able to work with these people but looking back on it like it was so formative. It was such a highly technical movie too. I would imagine so much is about sort of precision. Yes and no I mean there are things about had very precise but as a as the actual performance goes and like what you're able to do you had freedom to move the freedom to do anything and so in that way it was actually very non restrictive even because they didn't have a physical camera they literally just built a set like a like our shit in the middle of a sound stage and then like it was almost like directed like a play. Kind of how you move through the you could like do anything. You'd have to worry about where the cameras were at all so there's a lot of freedom in that but for me. That was a huge huge learning experience. Just to be around. That high level of a filmmakers is like so formative and gave me such a base of love of of a set in of like the crew in the team in in loving seeing how this whole thing worked Robertson megacycles insane like as a ten year old so that to me was like the thing I think that maybe like start to really get it. You know what I mean. Yeah Yeah I did Yogi. Bear Three D. Okay I didn't. I didn't have a lot of movement Josh. I didn't have a lot of freedom here and go yogi. Why did I sure did yoga? So I WANNA do some dealbreakers. I can ask you some questions. I okay you can say pass at any time okay. What is your favorite ice cream flavor? I like ice cream. You don't like ice cream right. Do you have a frozen treat that you like? I like frozen frozen bananas dipped in chocolate. Oh yeah that's good. Nice that's nuts. I give give or take if it has nuts on it and I wanted. I'll eat it now. Your Diet is intriguing to me. You Love Madrid so I assume you eat Yemen right. Actually I don't eat meat. You need learning meet Prescott -tarian my girlfriend fish. So what's your favorite like style of cuisine Japanese richer? Yeah I love Sushi. I love the flavors of Japanese cuisine. It's it's I would eat Sushi every meal of the day including seventeen breakfast if I could. I was going to ask you what the first thing you're going to do after this after we're allowed is going to be going to a Sushi restaurant. Do you have a favorite one. My barometer for like Sushi that I will eat is so low. I will eat like gas station. Sushi if I eat any kind of Sushi. So I'll go anywhere all right. What was your favorite toy? As a child I loved legos. Lagos and Lincoln logs but truthfully like as a kid in Kentucky. It was always about your bike and your friends and you would like to go in the summertime. That was the greatest thing. You just go on. Endless bike rides in the neighborhoods and have fun like freedom. It's like I think back to that. And just see this warm like Hot Kentucky. Air and like these. Like band of like totally. Imagine you guys like jumping off a train trellis into like honestly. It wasn't quite stand by me but it was it was it was in that world. Did you ever want to stop acting? I did I did I was. I had a point when I was sixteen at Sixteen hours a very difficult kid for a while. Why Do you think I was rebelling against everything? I was very rebellious kid and I think that partially you know. My parents always tried to raise me and my brother with this idea of mutual respect and all this stuff but I think that there was something about me having so many constraints on my life being like a working child from nine to sixteen that I just wanted like I want to normalcy. I started to be sad about missing like being a normal teenager. A normal kid and so at that point I went back to Kentucky and I was GonNa quit acting and I stopped for like one semester of high school and went into high school for one semester. After having already made movies and been like famous in my town and whatnot and it was like acting in living. That life is so much better than what I had experienced. I'm not I'm so lucky. And I'm an asshole for thinking kicking a gift horse in the mouth like what was hell Asia's about it. If I thought that my life was structured and too much responsibility of working as an actor going to high school was so much more structured and so much more pressure and responsibility than I felt as being actor onset like. That's that's like how I don't know how I don't know how teenagers do it. And I applaud anyone who finished high school even those who tried it to me. It's it's it's crazy Josh. You're so right Michael. My partner has a sixteen year old daughter. She'd be so thrilled to meet you. Do you think Margot wants to come down? Oh yeah because she's going through all this stuff and it's intense to watch college social pressure. There's so much and I love what you were saying earlier about social media but yeah how did fame affect your social standing like did it make things easier or harder because I never saw another version? I don't know what each individual's experience was. I mean for me it had its positives negatives you know there was some bullying from kids. Who were you know beliefs? And then you know there were some like ass kissing from those people who like you know. Saw the famous some of they should kiss up to in a way but it was just it was weird. It was weird it was I needed to do it. And I'm really really grateful that I did I'm really thankful to. My parents supported that the need of discovery at that age but I'm very happy that I get back. Tactic though is a very short lived. So did you miss like I don't know. Did you romanticize like prom or or like camp? Or I've got a great story about actually the so so when I was. I think I sixteen around that same time and I am. I've been considering Kentucky and I really wanted to go prom. Had A girlfriend at the time and she was also home. Schooled were sixteen years old which is weird and so there was a group that was doing a home school prom and so we literally went and we did a homeschool prom event. One like the kids rented a limo and so all the kids got in and we drove and it was literally in the basement of a church crazy.

When they had Adam gates available to us. They had a million people eligible Adam gays, Mike McCann that day, Leonard Williams, Jamal Adams. I'm gonna forget someone Sam. So a lot of access that day, and the one thing Ghaith talked about was doing more. With Ravi Anderson that Robbie Anderson, and I know this about Ravi because I've talked to him about it. He wants to be a complete receiver. He doesn't like the idea that he's called a deep threat. He wants to only a deep threat, but a complete receiver and Adam gay said first of all that desire is part of it. But he also sees the ability for Robbie Anderson to have a not a different role in the offense, but to run some different routes, and that sort of thing and he's open to that. And I think that's an interesting. Situation may be for Sam and the jets because Robbie Anderson can run so yes, he can out run someone on a go go route. But he can also run in the middle of the field and do some damage defenses haven't really within noon. Whether it's not that speed factor in the middle middle of the field, right guy. And now Jamison Crowder coming aboard as a slot guy. I just get the feeling that the personnel might be utilized a little bit differently. And maybe that benefits everyone including the quarterback. That's my feeling on that. Yeah. Well, that's that's great. If that's the case I mean here net, but another thing is you hear about levian bell a runner Bernie back that looks for a whole wanna just first-rate out. That's why I think the jets would be great if they upgrade a little bit at center. I mean, not only for bell protecting for darnold because I think that's a great one two punch. Right. And listen, they know that now can a center veteran center, shake free somewhere along the lines with cuts between now and. The opener, of course, Jonathan Harrison right now, whether they feel like supplementing other spots on the line will help Harrison if he is indeed the guy I don't know that they certainly had a chance rich, and I thank you so much for the call to get a center in this draft. They just they just didn't have enough picks and the center they like clearly wasn't there when they selected and I'm not, and candidly, I'm not sure which center they would have liked. But there were some in this draft that we're pretty highly regarded there are in every draft. But there were definitely some interior linemen highly regarded that could have helped the jets, but they have helped the line at different areas. It's not going to be perfect. No line is going to be just a perfect wall. If you think about it how long ago was it. And it wasn't long ago. We were all talking about the Cowboys offensive line. And I remember Francis sane, and it was hard to argue with that that was the best unit in the National Football League. The Cowboys offensive line. You don't really hear that anymore? Right. They've had injuries. They the players have now changed a bit. It is fleeting in the NFL. And if Jonathan Harrison ends up being the center, they'll probably do some things to try to work around it, and they'll probably hope hope that he's good enough. To take on that role for the New York Jets. I do think they're lying is a little bit improved. A lot improved from what we've seen. I do think that and they they like the big tackle out of USC who they took late. We'll see he was SAM's teammate. Let's go to John in Hartford. What's up, John? Hey, how you doing Kim? How're you? All go. Great. Hey, I'm gonna make you the giants. I'm gonna put you on the high with love that. Okay. Here you go. You're going to pick a quarterback. You got to your top quarterbacks on board. You got gained Jones available and you got Josh Rosen available. We've. He's. Right now. Right now. I think. I'd take Jones. Okay. All right. I'll take Rosen. All right, then I'll use my six picks to take Josh L. Yes. I'll I'll use like seventeenth pick take much tastes wet package trade that we did move up and have or resources in the dolphin tad. She get Rosen finish off the draft way. We finished the draft off fit and paper. I would you feel better with that draft and having Rosen camps or have the draft that we had with no edge rushers. No if you've got sweat and row and Josh Allen. I think you'd be in Rosenheim Rosen's part of this. I think that you would feel much much better about the giants defense than you do right now. You're now, you're the GM. Now, you're the gym. And you have you have a chance to review. We just walked through this narrow what's narrow would you want? What you're you're a good collar, John? And you're really good at this. I would then go with. I would then be what you took. I would then take Rosen. And here's why with Rosen. I understand listen. Josh Rosen came out of UCLA with the knock that really doesn't like hanging with his teammates isn't really one of the guys, and I heard that stuff directly, and you also heard that stuff many other places. So that was the knock on Rosen doesn't really relate, and that's tough for a quarterback match up. Have you met? Josh rosen. I had never met. Josh rosen. So you've never spoken home and all your I've only spoken to him very briefly at the combine which would have been to combines ago. Let me ask you this question. He was very nice. He was very nice to me. Based on what you saw during the whole Murray. Yes. And how we handled it professionally how he showed up. He never said anything negatively in the press. Yep. And he was there on time working. But yes, he was anyone to Larry FitzGerald. I believe it was Larry FitzGerald softball charity game or whatever it was. Yes. Yep. And he he worked hard look good and camps. And he had ten starts last year deciding bonus was paid for and you have a quarterback on your federal six million dollars for the next year. Yep. And kept faith like, you wouldn't believe. GM? Yes, I work in the insurance industry. My whole my whole life. Okay. I wish I was Jim the giants just for that one day. I think it changed. It says back another couple years Gandel Jones could be the next didn't we get a quarterback do for the last name Brown? He worked seven teen as well. Right. He looks a lot like David brow. Jimmy. Well, first of all, you're really good caller, John you're very persuasive. And I think you make not only a good point. But an important point about Josh Rosen because during the draft process, we did all here what we heard. It was anonymous, of course, because it almost has to be during the pre-draft prot process. But in fairness, Josh Rosen has been an incredibly professional young man in what has been a very difficult process over these last four five six months, or whatever it's been. So I think you make a great point about Josh Rosen in that regard. And the thing about Rosen is they're going to be good quarterback not only next year but the following year. So Rosen really the dolphins made a good play because there's really no risk and very little that they can lose by doing any of this. Here's here's the last one you deal with a lot of athletes. Pro baseball players pro football. Yes. Josh Josh L hell to you wouldn't have been tells anyone addressing the top ten if they didn't have Cal. Right. You mean the pass rusher? No. I mean, I mean Josh Rosen. Josh. Okay. Yep. Drafting the top ten last year. If you didn't have Cran, correct talent wasn't the issue. No, a pro athletes kind shunned the chip on your shoulder. Don't you think he's gonna come out? Yeah. He's gonna prove fruitful. Yeah. I think it's all adult and finally had their ten year quarterback. They might got another got it on the cheap night. And that's. Reset their roster in a matter of one draft day and have their quarterback candor Ed rushers in the foundation for the next five years. John tremendous, call John thank you very much for Mendes job. I'll tell you. What John makes a I admit I had not thought of this at all great job by John Hartford. The Rosen thing would have allowed the giants. Man would've allowed the giants to get Josh Allen, and Montana's sweat. Wow. I do wonder, and I don't say this lightly. And I don't say this to be a jackwagon. I really don't I wonder if the giants thought of that scenario. Again, I'm not being a bad guy. When I say that I really am not I'm asking that question about is innocently as you can. I wonder if the giants thought. That. Well, I guess it was everything involved was trumped by their love by Dave Gettleman love for Daniel Jones. And that's what we learned. Right. But man that is really interesting. That's really interesting something I hadn't thought of I admit of all the things I've thought of since the draft and during the draft and before the draft and anything like that that never occurred to me that Rosen with very minimal risk. Almost let's see what he's got type of thing. Give you that flexibility at six seventeen to help your defense. Didn't think about it? Did not think about it. Probably should have. But that did not occur to me. Still could've taken the corner.
