"What parker plays that change anything. No yeah i would drop him down but still ahead of metcalf in pitman. What is waddles yards per. Catch this year. Two point eight. It's a lot of faith in jalen. Waddell he'd better get targets. He pretty much has every weekend yards per catch. It is why. I guess still so in his situation he does. He's doing nothing with these catches. You know he's just scoring touchdowns he is sometimes going to games with two sixteen or more points in both of them. Yeah the first game with two ahead like five or six targets. Though he did score yes two of the time. Now that like if we're going to talk about yards per catch you ever fifteen point three earth forgetting that game. Hey all right. That's pretty good. Mike ezekie is a start sticky or hopkinson hopkinson facing the rams. Okay and that. Is it for this game philadelphia. Is that las vegas out of the game. A running back has eighty one or more rushing yards against the eagles in four straight games. That zeke clyde edwards e layer tuba hubbard and leonard fournette. Well that would be about forty carries for josh jacobs. Sorry though don't get it's like an seriously. This one is so easy jalen hurts. And derek carr top ten quarterbacks. Start them both josh jacobson sanders. Your top twelve running back. Start them both. Hey it's not that easy. What would what one hundred percent that. he's what would we be here for. If it were that easy. You know well and they and they they probably do a double take because they've been so bad santa anymore so sick mile sanders. He's top fifteen for everybody. You think he's thirteenth for for heath fifteenth jamie. Npr hasn't scored a touchdown yet. Who's been pretty big. Bus has twenty nine carries in his last four. Giving josh jacobs any credit for his touchdowns at all we're just going to make jokes about his yards procure mile sanders been awesome. He's averaging four point seven yards per twenty nine carries in his last four games. I so i. I almost made him the start of the week. I feel like this is the breakout game for him. Everything you hear from serianni The eagles crowd in that game last week against the bucks It's it's it's time you know and time to feed him. And i don't know to what extent fifty carries like we saw. We won but he might insult gets You know anything. North of that touches the nineteenth old touches in that. Game against the falcons. By the way the game they went on the road. So you gotta give him more opportunities. And i'd be shocked if it doesn't happen. I don't think they're getting blown out in this game. And if you take the blowouts out of the equation you naser steady a little bit. He's pretty close to fifteen touches a game so look i'm not saying to sit them by the way. I'm just saying that. It's very reasonable for fantasy managers to have questions about whether or not they should start or sit mile sanders and josh jacobs. And just telling you that we are starting them both this week. Okay all right..

"Justin fields threw his first career touchdown pass in the bears defense was stellar in at twenty two nine downing of the raiders in Vegas just for a horse that caught the first TD pass by fields who was twelve of twenty four one hundred eleven yards in his third career start Chicago went ahead for good early in the second quarter and fields two yard TD pass to Horst added traffic Derek Carr passed for two hundred six yards and Josh Jacobs rushed for a late touchdown in the raiders second consecutive loss Khalil Mack with the bears defensive dominance of his former team with eight tackles plus a sack of Kerr on the two point conversion I'm the ferry
Raiders Rule Josh Jacobs out for Sunday's Game vs. Steelers
"All right. Big news involving the raiders. Jon gruden announced running back. Josh jacobs out for the game against dealers. Not that big of a shock okay. He's got a toe injury. It could linger. You need to make sure this is okay and take care of it kenyan. Drake was signed for this reason. And i mean drake is going to have to go up against this incredibly tough defense. I wonder is the number going to jump. maybe not. it's six and a half already. It's still six and a half and now now it's it's jus to the steelers now it's one fourteen at fan duel. It's six and a half miles one. Fourteen six and a half plus one. Oh six on the

"He's definitely comfortable around me. Comfortable around dressy then. He's hugging him joking with him. You know all that and those are all good songs for hopefully being able to give we. I wish everybody could catch one hundred balls. You know i really do but again. It's hard to take away from. Darren when he's been so productive and and good for us you know if darren had you know w r next to his name and the depth chart no one would care. You know the fact that it's a tight end. Why don't we get to you. Know that just is what it is. You know if if if henry can show when we put the pads on. And all that which i'm fully confident he will. Yeah absolutely. i could see that happening. Here's some thoughts as my takeaways. I wrap things up from training camp. It really interesting to start seeing how the nfl is dealing with cova protocols with players with media with staff how things are starting to come back to the norm that we're used to and i'm going to tell you it won't be one hundred percent everything that you're used to but as for me we're starting to see it returned to normalcy. We're starting to see that. We can be in the same rooms. As jon gruden derek carr booth came into. The room is the first time i hadn't been on zoom call since march twenty twenty which was pretty amazing being that we're now to look these guys in the eye. We're able to develop that report with them. And that's something that i've said all along is very important for reporters to do when we're trying to report and bring back facts to you about a team is when we can look somebody in the i. It's not just about the answer that they're giving it's about the body language it's about the presence that they have when they're answering it. You can tell if somebody liked or didn't like your question right off the bat so it's always a good thing to be able to see that return for us to be able to speak to all the players and the coaches and to have that accessibility again. It's really important for what we do. And i'm glad that i was able to see that as far as being on the field i tell you a lot of hungry readers out there. A lot of aggressive raiders out there a lot of readers that are listening and paying such close attention to the coaches and all that they have to offer as they get into training camp. You see so many fresh faces as well with the rookies and undrafted free agents. That were brought in this year. And i'm still looking for who is going to spark. I'm keeping my eyes out on jimmy morrissey on the offensive line. I'm keeping my eyes. Out on dylan's donor in the wide way. Receiver department dj. Turner's well. who. Jon gruden mentioned. And i'm looking courses see. What a lot of the defensive rookies that they brought in or going to do malcolm coons when divine diablo comes back. Maybe we can get more of a glimpse of him in the coming weeks. But i really can't wait for everything to play out. Especially as jon gruden mentioned earlier and you could hurt this on the i ten. Podcast if you subscribe to that. He talked about the secondary and in that secondary with tyree. Gillespie coming in with demon our net would nevin lawson with guys like casey hayward with trayvon molin And so many other names. That i could just go on and on and how they're going to shake out who is in what position. What a nickle package looks like. Who's going to be up there when they're playing three deep. It's one of these things that we don't know yet and we're going to have to wait and see how it all plays out in camp and so to me. That's the most exciting thing to be watching right. Now is the secondary and the cornerbacks and safeties. How everything will play out for them. Because i was going to be an area that really needs to improve for the raiders to make a push for the playoffs and the twenty twenty one season.

"Not just about that opportunity to be to do this. Josh jacobs spoke to me about kirby wilson's departure. We talked about the upcoming season. And i'm also joined here with your boy q. In the line of questioning with josh jacobs as we got into things heading into the twenty twenty one season is definitely cool because You know said. I actually went to a game and they actually made me like hockey fans so just to see them again and see them. Come actually competed on the team. I will roads. I mean because you see he just wanted to. Mvp jarvis landry us all so i'm say raise people don't know he actually tried out for For the email being High school. And so yeah. Roses resolute village. It moving you in a pinch-runner me. Hopefully i can do this. Basis lecture. Have you leadoff arkansas to do that last year. Two years ago. It didn't go too. Good so i don't know we might need. Our game. plan is leading the team and kind of having been a mentor to you. What does that mean for you to have him out. Here enemies everything. I mean markets. This is actually met marcus sufficiently two years ago and he's their mentor me ever since I mean just to speak on who years and what he did..

"My lineup is full of raiders. So you're going to want to make sure to hit. Subscribe wherever you're listening. I've got darren waller for you. I got josh jacobs for you. I also was able to catch up with jon. Gruden and derek carr at their availability's during training camp early this week. So let's get it going. I with darrin. Waller the raiders tied in who put on his own football camp out here in las vegas. The darren waller youth football camp. And i was able to catch up with him for a few minutes about the camp. The program everything that he's doing to put back into the community. Because this program gives to underprivileged children who otherwise wouldn't be able to afford a camp like this to be able to test themselves to be able to enjoy a sport that we all love football so he gave this opportunity to about one hundred kids all from underprivileged areas of las vegas and all grades from three to eight at this football camp girls and boys both so he participated in every drill. He had a giant smile across his face the entire time. So just. what. A pillar for the raiders to have as somebody who goes out to work with all the youth in the community. He's somebody that has an electricity about him when he's working with these kids and the people that he's reaching out to. So let's hear. Now from raiders. Tied in darren waller. I just wanted to get like how this all came together from you and just what it means to be you to be able to be a part of this and helping the community you know. I want to be around the kids and show them that. No somebody that does what i do. I'm not far removed from them. I can be here with him. Helped him have fun. Let them know that you know. They don't have to be perfect anything that they're doing but as long as they have a good attitude give their best effort and what they do. You know things are going to work out for them in the long run so just getting a little bit of that today. Some of these cases maybe their first chance out here kind of messages. Do you put out for like as you speak to them or as you work with them. Yeah i would just say you don't have to be perfect. I go around at these drills. You know as long as you're listening and doing the best that you can that that's all that matters you know it's a it's all about progress you know. You don't have to be the best at it right now. I was never really the best player in high school college. Or when i first got to the nfl. But i kept improving so just folks and on you know as long as you continue to get better as long as you continue to washable around you. Listen to the coaches You know things are gonna turn out. Well how do we get better out of the raider comeback and maybe get into the playoffs this year. Yeah offensively just continuing to build on the foundation They continue to get better in the red zone. defensively I thought they were gonna improve drastically this year Just from a more simple scheme and just go out there and be able to let their talent show and show how good players they really are..

"He's gonna do it but i wonder what about april. They drafted all these safeties. He struggled last year. Is emma like lesbian. Progressives afford round pick but hey they think is a better fit for defense. And abram isn't getting it done isn't improving on his angles in and his coverage in his own field discipline. I can see a change. Happens will see. It's gonna take a while but we'll see you. Don't talk about kenyan. Drake and josh jacobs and that was top today. minicamp excited. I don't work. i work at at jacobs's one in any andre. This won't be i. Don't see him as a complete backup by. I see josh. Jacobs is a full time starter. There were talking about grooms playbook again and you can see them both. Stay super fresh. And in josh jacobs got banged up a lot last year endured carson. He's gonna be fresh every play. And so you're gonna see his carries go down and maybe that's concerned fancy football players but for raider football fans. He may get more bang for buck. It might be like wake max crosby. He may play with nagoya on the field but he may have impacted. He did last year so if if jacobs numbers are down. Carry numbers are down but his Averages up that's all good right so they go raise practicing ruin. It's hot seven thirty in the morning. And i think that's what you're going to see in training gabbana's quite dead early but it's gonna be early. You know Roy moore Graduations him pro football pro. Football writers of america honored him with a lifetime achievement award. It goes to assistant coaches. He's been nfl coach for twenty six years. He was a co two twenty. Three years based mostly assistant. Coach is adopted z. Award course named after the great top up. Paul zimmerman of sports illustrated doctors z. So congratulations to a marinelli. What.

"That's why he wants all these different pieces so just opens up his playbook. He's not free to have a deep and really a big playbook and he is good player car. casey hayward said i'm probably plan on the outside the inside. But i haven't played in the inside since i was in green bay and that was two thousand and fifteen his four years of guys bradley with the charges. Against of course with few raiders. Now we're on the outside so that's where he will probably play barring injuries. You know shane things talking about his rankings. I think pro. Football focus to derek carr was now is next gen stats excuse me. Nfl next gen stats. Excuse me on. A derek carr was ranked number the ninth best quarterback on the press true. Ask year and i find that in writing because a lot of people bang on him. And i don't know how many people say oh terrible peru and hasn't been the same since he was sacked and broke his leg against the colts on christmas eve. Two thousand sixteen now. I always thought that was a little kind of unfair narrative. people always. He's scared to get here knife under pressure indicates he's taken the he is. He's taking the heat. This sounds a guy. Like derek carr. You know what. I do your car. I've never been hard on him. I wanna talk about vaccination. There's reported razor among the league leaders and vaccination. Today there is report that four teams are really lagging behind. His cardinals. chargers and colts in there is another team involved to maybe the jaguars washington post op. But the fact is the raiders. Aren't in that group. And they're doing well and that's gonna make it easier for everybody to live a normal daily life and i'm not going to get in a political statement here at all but that's all we want is normalcy right now. We're getting there it's great. I don't get enough. I can't get enough of these stories. Stadiums being filled the nba players age players major league baseball and the barrier the asian giants ringing player in front of a four house in the twenty fifth and san francisco and usc ucla. I love all this stuff ours. We hell in joy this be safe. Do everything within your means. And in what makes you feel comfortable but enjoy this. This was a terrible in all of our lives moment frigging over a year so enjoy it last week. Gus bradley kinda raised some eyebrows on the interview. By saying jobs both safety positions were open competition. We assume that it was trayvon. More second round pick would start at free safety and johnathan stirred abraham would start at strong safety. So for the coaches say. Hey it's wide open one. I think adds kinda just coachspeak. That's what that's what coaches do. Also you don't want to hand merck merit a starting job three months before.

"Coronas big news. Today will fuller. Go to the dolphins kenyan. Drake going to the raiders. Adam jamie and he on fantasy football today. So cain drake it's a two year deal fuller a one year deal and he will serve a one game to start the season heath which is bigger news to you the drake signing the fuller signing. I thought i was coming on. A kyle rudolph podcast for I think the bigger news is a gas. It's probably i. The drake news is just bad. News all around. At least there's some positively to the fuller news. Yeah jamie you which is The rudolph news is he mentioned or the fuller news of the drake news. What's the biggest item here. Mitchell trubisky news. But he talked. Oh the bills. that's right. handcuff team time. I mean they. They both kind of stink to be honest with you Fuller does have more upside. But this is the best destination for him and drake stinks. This is terrible drake stinks. Here's no fantasy value. He has finished value but he loses fantasy value. I mean this was a bad for josh. jacobs is bad for drake. You know not drake. I think had many options to be a featured guy but he could have been now he's going to be in a in a fifty fifty split. That's what you think you think is going to be a fifty fifty split. Yeah i don't think this is going to be a backup. I think he's going into play. He's what are you. What are you going to project. i think he's going into play. I it does. Sound like the raiders. Want to use kenyan drake a lot in the passing game which is bad news for drake or jacobs who finally got forty five targets. Last year i wouldn't say fifty fifty but let's see there were hundred and fifteen carries and forty four targets that went to devante booker and jalen reagor last year. Scrubs i i would expect. He's gonna get a slightly more than that. Josh jacobs got the lion share of the work at two hundred and seventy three carries and fifteen games. Devante booker had ninety three carries. Sixteen of them came in one game without josh jacobs. So if we had two hundred and seventy three carries and fifteen games for jacob. How many are you thinking this year. Guys two hundred fifteen to twenty. If he's healthy. Yeah i think. I very i guess came out at two fifty two so not the under for sure. Okay but bor not. But you're not it's not fifty fifty i i. I didn't know what you meant. By fifty fifty fifty fifty in terms of their carries. They think it's fifty fifty in terms of what they're playing times going to be close to that. I mean you know. Drake is going to be on most fast down situations. Drake is going to get more carries than any of the other backups. That they had before. This is bad news for both these guy s. So josh jacobs stop twenty four pick or is the third guy now is a fourth round guy from guy okay. Heath oughta top twenty four pick. I think i'd probably still lean third round but i like fourth round. I think is they just lost their entire offense blind that's true they got incognito they just lost their entire offensive line is miles sanders over. Josh jacobs that's not even close. Jk dobbins not close for me. I will still probably take jacobs. Over dobbins dobbins and st and non jacobs. Mvp jamie who are you ranking jacobs with. I put them behind. Melvin gordon and so. He's ahead of david johnson tree. Okay let's talk about we'll fuller now. Where are we going to be ranking him. He's before the dolphins it's funny. I didn't hardly move him in my dynasty worksheet. I keep it up the projection for free agents. Just because i don't actually have a projection. And i'd put to ten in for him. And i think that I run i get up with his two hundred six fantasy point so i've got a wide receiver thirty three. There's upside beyond that but he's not gonna play week one. You probably can't count him playing fifteen games after that. He's a an upside boomer bus number three wide receiver respect. I tell you that. He's the best wide receiver in football. Where you live. You know it's gonna be great as it is hopefully a precursor trading shawn watson everything that would be the The keys to situation where. He's he's probably better than devante parker. But that doesn't mean he's going to get more targets than devante parker better production than parker and they're not done. They're going probably draft a receiver so this is not a great landing spot for him by any stretch and the quarterback as we saw last year has a lot of room to grow. I hope he does This is a big signing to help them get there. But this isn't the type of quarterback that's gonna make wolf fuller better. I was sort of hoping for juju. Smith schuster end up here a better fit for two. We're talking about lower than will fuller. Okay so would you guys rather have will fuller or let's say odell beckham fuller beckham for if beckham south. Y'all think back on how. 'bout curtis samuel or will fuller samuel. Yeah this is very productive waiting for the dominos to fall here are you. Are you getting excited about to. What's jamie if you expect them to add a wide receiver. Hey could be with the third overall. Pick or maybe trade back a little bit. But if they get one of those big three wide receivers then all of a sudden it looks like a pretty interesting receiving core. What do you think about to. Then he improve And i think he will. I think to has got a lot to show clearly. But it's not fair to compare him to burrow herbert mostly. Herbert he's gonna get a full off season. He's gonna hopefully get a guy that he potentially is familiar with if it's Or maybe waddell. So they've made two significant moves. Today they also got their center and the upgraded. Their you know so This is an offensive line. That will be better you know. I think they're going. Add the running back so that running game will be better so they're putting pieces around him you know. It's not like what. The bills did with josh allen quite yet but there was a building process to that started with john brown and cole beasley ended up with stefan. And you've seen the growth so can have those types rights. Maybe not to the same height but those type of improvements. I hope so You know so. I think to has got a chance to be in the streaming conversation. A guy that you'll take with the second. Pick a second quarterback if your roster deep enough to carry too but he's going to be a starting fantasy quarterback like i'm not moving ahead of ryan fitzpatrick for example. You know you wanna talk about guys. That i think i have more upside. I think fitzpatrick has upside but to is not going to be far behind. He's last question. What do you wanna see the cardinals do it running back and do you believe that chase edmonds could really be a worker says the as the cardinals i think it was called kingsbury said the i thought that he could be but i'm not sure that the evidence is there to say that he can. What do you want to see at running back. What do you think about edmonds. I think at this point what i might hope for. Is something like what the chargers are doing. Where you have. Austin ekeler is not going to be at three hundred touch guy maybe not the by definition a workhorse but you get edmonds in a situation where he could see for or five targets a game and maybe handle the ball ten ten to twelve times in the running game and they can add a plotter a short yardage back to go with him that that would be my preference but they could also go ataman. There's been a big rush to go. Add the other running back. So maybe chris carson or someone sees this and lowers their demand and in up in arizona. Teeth jamie of adam. Thanks for tuning in every body. Hopefully we'll have another bonus podcast for your suit.
Are Raiders plotting to trade Derek Carr, pursue Deshaun Watson?
"According to a report out of las vegas. The raiders are taking calls on quarterback derek. Carr it's suggested in the report that it could potentially be the beginning of a three team trade to get to shawn watson in a raiders. Uniform shannon vegas. Try and trade for sean top. Five top seven quarterback. I think you should be in the running for watson. Skip there something that's been on my mind and the bother me last week. I called you the night before and told you that has some information about about jon. L. came on the show and they're about six thirty top of the show. I said to shawn watson my sources tell me shawn watson has ashby the texans for trade and this is not. This is just being broke but this could ask a couple of weeks ago now. Adam schefter reported twenty minutes out to me that show watson to ask for trade basically saying that he's breaking the news which at and i said what transpired that he wants to go to the jets. He have a fondness for robert solid. Everybody keeps saying jason this and that so what they're trying to do. They're trying to add egg pool pork to a hamburger. That i've already made is still a hamburger. Youth and economists tried to add to the story back to this absolutely skilled. I don't this report came from chris. Simms yes okay. What transpired skill. And you said this yesterday. When he was when he was talking to the press conference the player he said the player of the the new england syria away to new caserio said the player yes he must have realized how it sounded his head because he started saying shaw desha. It's too late. You everything off his thing and our to our for everything to my agent day google level but anyway skill yes they should skip. I just got always got the impression. That jon gruden wasn't as far the derek carr. I don't know what it is. I could be totally wrong but it. Just something about yeah. He's good but i don't really know if he can take me to where i need to go. I am making ten million dollars. The i do have one hundred dollar contract. And we haven't been to the play. So i'm as you can be viewed as a failure skill for thirty million dollars ain't got nothing to show for it. And there's a lot of have to do with his defense. They print his lands. Twenty fourth and thirtieth last three years are good bradley the off season he so you look at it. They're waller. it's a top three tight end. They got josh jacobs. Who made the pro bowl again. If i'm not mistaken hillary rodham. He nice receiving corps offensive. Line is solid. Yeah john was. It will be a major player for them. And in this offense again. It's the west coast system skip. It'd be foolish not to try

"New home for hip hop in standing up to racism and racial injustice in the black and Brown Immunity. Big boys named Luigi up in here. Bad play of the day. Liu Wei. What upper bad play the day Big. It is going to Raiders running back Josh Jacobs on Monday. Man it was reported was breaking news man in Las Vegas. The running back Josh Jacobs was in a single car crash and he was arrested for a d u I big. This was in the Around the McCarran Airport in Las Vegas, and I don't know if he was arriving there If he was going to the airport to leave somewhere, but whatever it was, he was in the accident, and when the cops got there, they saw that he was, you know, a little intoxicated, and they booked him. He has now released and he has court coming up in March. They said he's going to plead not guilty, but it's like it's already out there. It's not a good look for the team. You just came out for great win on Sunday. If your second year with the Raiders, you're a star running back like bro, That is just a bad move. Head of just getting somebody to come and drive your car or whatever it is, we get picked up. You decided about all that afterwards, though that's true. Outdated. Should hire somebody. You know, either he was picking up somebody he was leaving. They should. You know, I should have over to me and I should have. You know that's not there It is. That's the one thing I got on social media. A lot of people like mad He has enough money to do this. Yes, I was like, bro. To be honest with you. He's young. He has the money, like, think about what you would do in that situation like I've gotten behind the wheel when I was younger. I ain't gonna lie when I was, you know, thinking I was okay to drive before I'm going. I can admit that it was a bad thing to do. I don't do it anymore. But at that point, you gotta figure you've got the fame. You got the money. You think if you think you're okay. You think your physical you know, it's like paying a hell of a tuition into the school Various now, too, though. You know what I'm saying? Because now now he knows, And you gotta think you know the NFL. They're going to hit him. You don't know, saying the court system going to hit him the court of public opinion that's already hitting him. You know what I'm saying? So hopefully he learned from this? Yeah, I'm saying and not make another bad player today. But you know what? He's human and and only person is going to get hurt right now is him and probably, you know some of the loved ones, but no one was hurt. You know what I'm saying? The streets and crash into each other. So the only one person has hurt is him And he's gonna have to be be able to deal with his bad play today and hopefully not make another one. Yeah, man. When the news broke out, Jon Gruden was actually in a press conference, the coach for the Raiders, and he had this to say. Just aware of it. I will say that Josh is okay. And I'm not at liberty to comment on until I get more fax. But we do have word Josh is okay and we are looking into the matter. Yeah, man. So thank you for the exclusive. We give you said that ourselves. Let's go. No damn audio, He said Absolutely nothing. Exactly. That's right. Yeah, that was another bad player. Today. You'll stick around your radios. Big Boi's neighborhood so college girls, am I right so much.
Blame Jon Gruden for the Raiders’ loss to the Dolphins... but do it for the right reason
"Raiders lost to miami. Las vegas raiders are now seven and eight. They missed the playoffs again. This year and the blame has got to go on. Jon gruden their head. Coach I i like jon gruden. I think there have been moments where he's done a good job preparing his team to play. I thought the highlight of the year for las vegas. Raiders was beating the kansas city chiefs. They looked very well prepared. That a great game plan But again this loss to miami coach. The recent failures by the raiders has to go on. Jon gruden you're gonna blame jon gruden for the loss. Make sure you do it for the right reason. So all the attention after this game has gone onto john. Gruden's late dame decision making against miami. Where the raiders had the ball first and goal on the eight yard line with a minute and fifty five seconds left. And the raiders chose to not score a touchdown they had. I mean they first of all they had the running back. Josh jacobs literally taking the other one yard line that he slid down to avoid scoring and did not want a touchdown would have given them a six point lead because they had they were down gas. Were down twenty four twenty five so they didn't want to have a six point lead. They wanted to take as much time off the clock as possible then on third and goal derek carr literally kneeled to continue to run the clock down and they kicked field goal. Giving them a twenty five to twenty three lead with nineteen seconds. Left in the game and people are critical. The strategy like you should have done other stuff. You should've taken the touchdown you should've done. Whatever coulda woulda should say whatever you want to say. I don't think this is the reason to criticize john. Gruden every once in a while you have a strategy. That is a good strategy. That simply doesn't work. I play video. What is it not a tabletop. Game like a board game called settlers of catan a giant nerd and my family. We all play during christmas. And i had a great strategy of putting my game pieces on the the number eight. Meaning that if you have to you have a high percentage chance of rolling in eight like you would think yeah. It's literally six and eight or two of the highest six eight and seven like the highest possible. Things could roll when you're rolling. Two dice and eighths just never got role but i waited and waited my whole strategy revolves around rolling eight with these two dice. And it didn't happen. And i don't know this the probability or whatever. I just know that on paper. That's a good strategy. Like eight gets rolled all the time and this game. It was an anomaly. It didn't happen and that happens sometimes every once in a while you good strategy that for one reason or another. There's an anomaly. And it doesn't work out
Families of Negro Leaguers rejoice in MLB's decision to recognize league
"On wednesday. Mlb announced that it was quote unquote elevating negro leaguers. Two major league status within its official historical record which helps explain why google searches for the name. Josh gibson suddenly started spiking. Baseball says it's figuring out how to include negro leagues statistics into its canon of sacred numbers. And there is no resume quite as legendary or as mythical as that of the late josh gibson. The catcher that satchel page once unambiguously deemed the greatest hitter. Who ever lived. So i called up shawn gibson. Josh's great grandson and the executive director of the josh gibson foundation to understand what mlb's decision to elevate his great grandfather means to him. Well first of all. I don't like the word elevating. I think it should be more of a merger because niggly baseball player or major league players as well. So that's first and foremost this. And i want to bid tuesday night as josh gibson's greg grants and i woke up as josh jacobs. His grandson asher to cerebral calls questions about this happened. Literally when people say happen literally overnight it literally happened overnight and to wake up and see that in lobby made the announcement and josh gibson. Now what we consider not just one greatest league baseball players he. He'll be considered one of the greatest baseball players of all time and so for us in our family. It's a great honor. Ona understand josh. What you heard growing up from family from friends about how your great grandfather considered his own career compared to those who had the opportunity who were afforded that opportunity to play in the majors for jars. You know and the other great negro baseball players you know. They knew they were great players. They didn't even know by to tell him that it was just a decision At that time it was in that era. that kennesaw mountain land is denied the opportunity to play in the majors but did not stop him. They barnstorm against a lot of white baseball players. And you know as well as we know. I know is that a lotta times. They beat the white ball players in. So that's something right there. And so when i totally stories just in our family. There's we call josh gibson big josh. 'cause josh gibson junior of course is the sense that you can't say jockey get confused. I wanted to ask you about one of big joshes more famous nicknames. He was called very famously. The black babe. When you hear that sean about your great grandfather how does that make you feel you know. Let's say this bridge. Stevens bakers great grandson. He's one of my good friends. We go back and forth back and forth on this all the time. I didn't know that okay. Tell me about your relationship with him. And what you guys talk about on this regard. That's great so burn. Stevens is bait roof. Great grandson and so we always talked about. You know josh gibson's compared to my grandfather. And i'm like well that's what you but if you ask me about. Bay roof is a white josh gibson. So we go back and forth. Is we always say our people always say Yankee stadium was called the house. Ruth bill in ice t's brent are okay but who hit the furthest home running stadio i give them on that one. Well i mean. I want to even push that. Story further sean. Because i grew up going yankee stadium. He's the only human being to ever hit a fair ball out of the park out of the house. That babe ruth ledley built. I don't want to rub it in his face to. I don't go that far. I just say the furthest rebel. We all know he headed out. The ballpark. we know is over near babe. Ruth kane close no all seriously. I've heard several stories two different stories. I heard it. It's out of the ballpark. Been a heard from some players that hit like the top tier of moammar. So you wrote a piece of the undefeated in august about your grandfather's name being on the mvp trophy. And that may have been unthinkable at one point but now it does feel like there could be momentum towards that. Why is this important to you and your family. Then the peak kinda fell on our lap on. This happened to read an article about terry pendleton barry. Larkin and mike schmidt. Making a case to remove kennesaw Mountains landers name off the mvp award and it gets to okay. Well here at a names that they're considering replacing the name with in his frank robinson branch rickey and go shoot josh gifts literally again on the phone with my board directors. I said listen. We just found herself in a race. Let's see how we can win it so for us. I'm hoping that the vwa taking consideration of this and really think twice when they make a decision to rename this after josh gibson but this mvp war if this may not. The jaw is just about josh gibson. This will carry on the legacy of all the other great players as well. Who were denied the opportunity. So josh gibson is carrying several thousand players on his shoulders but his vp award the page. Family the buck leonard. Cool up a bail family. Turkey stars fan oscar charleston. Family all great players will all celebrate. It'll be named after josh. But every time i speak about this i'll make sure represent all the family members who were denied the opportunity
NFL Week 14 injuries: Christian McCaffrey's new issue, Antonio Gibson out of practice again
"Injuries we paying attention to the bigger buzzkill of the week on the injury or injury front here christian mccaffrey. A third injury now. with the shoulder Following up now also with a quad injury had high ankle sprain. Keep matt. He's he's not gonna play this week hopes are he will be back week. Fifteen or sixteen. But if we have. Mike davis there 'cause they'll lineup versus the panthers rb one this week antonio gibson that looking good got exactly one. Snap against the steelers on monday night before you heard a toe injury we're gonna watch his status heading towards the end of the week. He's out peyton barber on the early down work. Obviously jd mckissic. We'll get the pr action there. The pass catching back. Josh jacobs unlikely to play this week with an ankle issue. You're out devante booker. last week. It didn't work out. I'm not very optimistic about it this week. Either if out to that's a situation to avoid to straightness practices for. Aj brown the study for the titans with an ankle issue. This'll probably be around friday. I'll be looking at the most on practice tomorrow but take out. That's certainly a big blow to receivers out already for carolina. This week have christian mccaffrey. But also without dj more curtis samuel kobe. Nineteen list or both of those guys robby anderson. He's gonna get a ton of targets brandin cooks. We thought he might have had a fifth or sixth. I think it's now six concussion last week when he ended up medical tent. It looks like it's more of a neck injury foot issue. I am optimistic. He played just fuller out. Top targeting group brings one more week before we've probably take him back from that collapsed lung case. Him hill. Jalen hurts madge. Up is the two quarterbacks this week and that is going to be a very unique football game to watch analyst
Mahomes hits Kelce in last minute, Chiefs edge Raiders 35-31
"The chiefs avenged their only loss to the raiders scoring the go ahead touchdown with twenty eight seconds left to beat Las Vegas thirty five thirty one Patrick Mahomes on Travis Kelsey wide open in the end zone for a twenty two yard touchdown pass Mahomes finished thirty four forty five for three hundred forty eight yards and two touchdowns yeah I mean there's no doubt we want to win I think the guys came to play and I mean it let I got so that's a great football team it seems to be a lot of good football teams including ourselves and we get it we need everything we had to to win this football game Kelsey had eight catches for a hundred twenty seven yards including a twenty two yard scoring reception although the raiders lost it was a good game for Derek Carr who was twenty three of thirty one for two hundred seventy five yards and three touchdowns Josh Jacobs ran for fifty five yards including a two yard score I'm Riley on
Raiders run over mistake-prone Broncos 37-12
"Jeff he said to the raiders five takeaways in a thirty seven twelve rather the Broncos he finished up to drew lock twice in the first half chroma CB Nick we're Caskey got picks in the fourth quarter and eleven loss and forced and recovered a fumble by deshaun Hamilton Josh Jacobs ran for a hundred and twelve yards and two touchdowns for the six and three raiders the Monte Booker added two late TD runs seven the raiders to their most lopsided win over the Broncos in ten years Las Vegas has now won three straight heading into a home match up against the chiefs I'm Dave Ferrie
Jon Grudens Raiders and Tom Bradys Bucs: A Special Relationship
"Paul duty as I have a question for you where are you right now? I am in an RV at an RV park in Las Vegas and barring my mom and dad's RV while I'm here covering the now Las Vegas Raiders Paul Gutierrez not only covers the raiders for ESPN. He's written a book about Raiders Fandom and followed the team Vegas kind of living like. A little bit. Paul I of about fifty fall of questions about what life in that our views like. But it does feel like the ability to pick up and react to sudden schedule changes is especially important to covering the raiders these days starting with what's happening right now, we are talking on Thursday evening ahead of this highly anticipated raiders game, and there is a Kovic scenario that you've been covering in depth so. What do we know about the game schedule? What do we know about who's playing or who is not playing? Basically, what has happened is is right tackle. Trent Brown tested positive for covert. Now as part of the protocols here anybody who's deemed a high risk contact with him has to self isolate for at least five days plus one which would be the. Last point of contact, which was practice on Monday they are all there. They were all there together It's the raiders entire starting offensive line, plus let's just throw safety Jonathan Abram in there as well. So man, all of those guys were just placed on the covid nineteen list again doesn't mean any of them tested positive. I was actually told that none of them. But as part of the protocols they have to selfies late for five days. Another other source told me that they've been doing virtual preparation. In case they can indeed get cleared play against the buccaneers in the meanwhile, it was supposed to be a big Sunday night football game. Yes. The League wanted to make sure that that game actually happens. So they bumped the raiders out of their move Seattle in Arizona into that spot. So a game will happen well, guess what if you guys I just mentioned you consistently Test negative on their Cova test the rest of the week and then again Sunday. Morning will then they'll be cleared to play. But at what time? Sunday morning Oh. Yeah. kickoffs at one o'clock. So the backstory all that as well. I gotTA catch my breath here when I started figure this out understandably. Yeah. They on their fifty three man roster. They currently have five backup offensive lineman. That's WHO's been trodden. They've been trying out there in practice every day. That's who Derek Carr has been had protecting him. That's who Josh Jacobs has been trying to run holes through those five guys plus they also have two guys on the practice squad that they could suit up if need be. So as we sit here right now on on Thursday late afternoon the raiders starting offensive line is anchored by Andre James and if you need to know who that is I got a couple of media guides for you can look about. Paul Creek me. If I'm wrong here, but I believe this is the very first case of an entire position group being taken down by cove like I know that we've had players here and there. You put on this list but in terms of the magnitude of what the raiders are facing with the offensive line, this feels extreme. Yeah. An and it's part of the protocol. Really. Because only one guy really has tested positive but it's out of the abundance of caution which we've heard a lot of since since the pandemic hit right you've got to self isolate you gotta make sure you don't test positive or show any symptoms, and even if you don't show any symptoms, still self isolate because you could be symptomatic. It's just very bizarre. It's a strange world we're living in Derek Carr said this week that you know he's been with the team for seven years seen a lot of weird things. He's this is the weirdest thing he's ever seen and it's worth noting like weird is by no means foreign to this organization even within this context I mean, I still need help Paul disentangling what exactly happened for instance with Jon Gruden their head coach who took an approach to corona virus with the team earlier this year that had me confused the media confused, and then ultimately Jon Gruden himself pretty angry at everybody. Yeah. So beginning at Camp, we show up in a media member. We have to test every day just to get in I have fifty two on my belt. All negative so far, which is a good thing Jon gruden passes out t shirts to the media with there waiting for us as we walk in the media room that say crush the virus because I was going to be his mantra he took issue with the NFL network reporting that he faked having the virus but yet kind of just went away then on the home opener on. Monday night football when he later would get fine for not wearing his mask properly, he brings it up himself and says that he never faked the virus it as a matter of fact, he did have it. So he talked about just how it was not fun. It made him feel bad and this is all before training camp. When he said he he went through this and beat it in in that. He has the utmost respect for it and he still wants to crush it in beat it into the ground like it was some sort of opponent.
Fantasy Football Forecast: One BIG THING you should know for every Week 2 matchup
"I sit out the way New Orleans versus Las Vegas raters. We saw New Orleans showcase really really solid, really great defensive performance against Tom. Brady and the buccaneers They were pretty on disappointed as a team, lot of penalties on their defensive side of the front. The saints rebel to take advantage of that. La Raiders played against the Carolina Panthers last week and gave up thirty points. It's very possible that New Orleans doesn't look as Resi as they did against a really solid defensive front in Tampa. Bay and they might have their way with a raiders team that is still kind of pretty young and trying to get their footing and all this stuff. They don't they had an injury to majority of their wide receivers in the last game. So Dan, Waller seems to be their only solid option. At the receiving side of things that might mean there in Waller's uptick in target's share and my means, he gets an ends on this year or this week maybe something good happens for him I'm buying all the stock now I'm Kamara right now for this game, this should be Alvin Kamara. KAMERA's two touchdown, a hundred yards from scrimmage plus game. This is this is the one I wouldn't see why would be any otherwise and to be quite frank. I think that a lot of players on seem to have a really big game and this would be a really fun game to see trae Kwan Smith. I'm going to bring them up again. This'll be a fun game Trey Smith. Look to be a solid. Relieving game just for brevity and sake of saving saints, fans of fantasy fans alike, some worry as to what the saints offense can look like without Michael Thomas Soaking up a lot of the defensive pressure. All right. So Fancy implications all over the place you know Josh Jacobs. This could be a really good test to see just how much they believe in Josh Jacobs as a pass catcher because I don't know how much he's going to be able to do in the run game considering New Orleans is when had and still does on one of the better run defenses in all the football. I think the best game. Pound for pound this week has to be the night game on NBC, where New England is playing against Seattle that they're going to be playing in Seattle New England the we have a kind of banged up cam and she says it's the there's no hamstring issue but. Of Most people are saying that he does, Kinda. Have a little bit of a hamstring thing going on and we'll see how that affects him with all read option stuff and what we saw from last Sunday's performance maybe we started to see cam throw a little bit more, and then we can really see just what this doing his offense really has to offer for them sure that bill will have them ready for whatever and we saw sea hawks offense that basically let Russell Wilson do what people have been asking. Them to let Russell. Wilson do for basically the majority of the back half of the dense. You know twenty seventeen was to let Russ Cook and Cook did Russell Wilson? Do He only missed four passes? He had A. Great amount of yardage great touchdown passes de que look. Nice at times he did have some drops of course, Tyler Lockett looked really good. Chris Carson looked amazing. In the past game. We had some really good screens run in for touchdowns. They got tight ends involved the plethora tight ends at the seahawks own and their defense was literally flying around all over the place. Now, there are a lot of garbage time touchdown stuff in that Falcons game that I'm not GonNa hold against the defense when it mattered. Jamal Adams and of course. Everybody else in that defense just looked phenomenal. They just looked physical. They looked like they were flying around and making plays they look very formidable as team very formidable. So. That is a game as the May have a lot of implemented implications on things so KEEP IN MIND I think one of the better secondaries in the League is New England's granted they played against. The, dolphins but they did not allow that many receptions or receiving yards at all for either receiver on the dolphins and Tyler Lockett, and care very athletic fast guys but. It's going to be tough. Is GonNa be a tough about we'll see what happens. They may have to change up the strategy of leading Russ Cook for this game in particular and work through the old tried and true run the ball and try to make something happen later on in the game. But for US Russell Wilson owners like myself I hope they just let him throw the ball a little bit more that'd be nice. That would be fun I think we'd all like to enjoy that. So moving on towards another game I think the Baltimore Game at four, twenty, five eastern standard time on CBS is going to be a good one, Baltimore versus Houston. This game can go I think Houston is a team that kid look Jacqueline Hyde and they've been jekyll and Hyde ever since the Shawn Watson is come on that team and. Not Sage. It's the Sean played bad last Thursday. But he definitely did not look comfortable one hundred percent of the time and you just was trying to make plays. His offensive line wasn't there fully stout at all and when it was time to just throw throw throw things Kinda got out of hand for Houston Houston can't be a team that gets to behind too quickly or else it is going to be nightmarish for the offensive line. And it's going to be a bad day for Shawn Watson even though he can make miracles happen at will while Samour's in perfect position to take on a team that showcase bad tackling display. So this is a team. So if this is the time where you want to be like, okay JK Dobbins, he didn't have that many targets but hey, he got two touchdowns in is the time to test out the JK Dobbins is going to be. The album? Kamara. To Marketing Rooms Mark Ingram. So we'll see what happens here Lamar he this seem doesn't tackle well, Lamar could have himself a anywhere closer to forty to fifty yards rushing easily against this team if he wants it, and of course, Mark Andrews is a guy who I would think would eat very well against the Houston team that allowed drivers Kelsey to get like five catches in the first half with ease marched up and down the field with ease Look to see how David Johnson looks in his second bout. David Johnson had a nice surprise of a Comeback Week one performance that a lot of people were speculating was possible and he delivered for the most part. So that was encouraging for many people to go ahead and see so I wouldn't. Put it past him to do it once again. That's really really against the I think that Brandin cooks is still a bit. So that would not be. Great for folks owners. And I would be looking at anybody who has. Willie snead Willie snead was all over the place last week and it was almost to a shocking amount of how much willie snead was dependent on and I said Willie snead. That was not who I meant to say I meant to say will fuller will fuller will around the field for the Texans last week and I would like to see him continue that stretch because that would be. Pretty awesome to be completely honest. I. Would like to see a will fuller healthy and showcasing that he is here to stay in this league and thus it would not make me feel nearly as bad for short.

"Because that seems to enjoyable for both of you so have to have this verified. By by outside source by someone who has no note nothing to gain in this except my pain. So Josh One week one. Of the year but he did start the season right and he did it with Greg. Olsen which is impressive. I don't know if any of us can top that. I. Don't know if we could top that but because he is our winner from last week, we'll start for the not. So obvious lock of the week who do you have for week two Josh Well okay. I. I had Russell Gauge circled on my list this I'm thinking that's probably not allowed. I mean, anything is allowed. It's just how you know how do you WanNa be basically to the listeners right I feel like if I go with Russell gauge their I probably and dealing with some pretty high expectations. A. What about Zach Moss? Can I get away with asking? Moss. All right. 'cause months for we do. Okay. So you've taken Zach Moss. Adams yet. Just no explanation as to why we're just going to like throw a name out there and what is your ultimate reason for Zach loss? He number eleven running back expected points in week one and I just don't really I don't believe anything in. Devon Single Terry and also Josh Allen was way up there like all of the bills players just. Apparently, the numbers are telling me that this offense is going to be good. And you pleased he plays the dolphins next week. Yeah. So I'm okay with that Josh, moving away from tight end I don't know. Regrettable I. Kind of want to see if he could. You know repeat back to back some tight ends, but he wasn't out for that. That's good took. A Little Logan Thomas Action Maybe, you should do it Adam. I mean Logan Thomas is going to be phenomenal, but he's not going to be my lock of the week. that. That I'm saving for love that I've had much longer than low than Thomas, a man who Might not be a man at all. You might you might be a star child. Might. Be might be an alien a months. Sammy Watkins is no joke is and he you led the Kansas City chiefs in targets by fifty percent margin no less Scott's and he repeated as the week one hero of fantasy football as you wasn't twenty nineteen and. I think this time it might actually be here to stay guy me I'm crazy I might be I understand that but he looked healthy. He looked Chris he looked like he was running routes very efficiently and a Patrick mahomes offense. I always want pieces and Sammy Watkins is the piece that no one wants to touch and you know what Sami. I'll be your huckleberry and having there's so many wire receivers in Kansas City like demarcus Robinson has his moments. Hardman has his moments nine and talking about Tyreek Kale. All these other guys like us, both I I I, respect them. It's it's it's a good. It's a good office to get a piece of in the not so obvious lock of the week, and we know it's been a long term love for you. So this is not some you know bandwagon reaction from you. So I respected Josh thoughts on Him Picking Sammy Watkins. It's the only thing that speaks against it is just the Jamie Watkins does this you know and that's not a real thing. Any other player comes out and does this and we're we're all over him I like we're all on T. Logan. Thomas. For All and team Russell Gauge but Sammy Watkins does you know more and how it Sammy? Watkins maybe maybe Sammy Watkins should get a little bit of credit for being You know a new player on a new team. Last year. So. Are. You saying not enough people believing Sammy Watkins Josh. Well I don't really believe in Sammy Watkins. I applaud those to do. Okay. Respect respect to him. Respect. Your applause. I'm actually GONNA go with a long-term love of my own. except minds are running back. Can either one of you guessing my long-term love is who I have. One, hundred percent confidence and Who is Not Sure I'm not sure he wants to steal your thunder. Thunder all episode, I mean. Let me let go talking about Derek McInnes. Damn you damn you. Derby Canaan is back. He's back boys scored a touchdown last week he seemed to eat up to Jetson week to. This and I don't know how anyone can't be excited about Jerry McCain at this point like my guys a baller he's a baller he's back he's healthy. This offense and team believes in him they need them. Jerick McKinnon is my not so obvious lock of the Week Adam I dare you to say something negative. Say I mean it's the forty niners against the jets the forty niners. pissed after phasing the cardinals who really actually showed up on defense last week and only get to go against the worst of the NFL I mean they're going to roll. So yeah similar to how getting of the Kansas City offense is good any week getting the peace of began or getting a piece in the San Francisco offense going up against the jets is a great move and I mean from what we saw they do your McKinnon to be utilized I mean to me he's probably going to be a ten touch guy but ten touches against the jets is probably Venezuela. Hey listen I'm trying to take a week to victory. I need an early victory like Josh. I can't go weeks in a drought SR getting crazy and desperate and..

"I could see Josh Jacobs ahead of Moss ended I will draft Josh ahead. Personally I understand you're not doing. So if you feel high on miles sanders, there is the Kenyan drake, the awesome Equa. That you know how much are they gonNA prove or they're going to drop a little bit the situation starting to change a little bit there the guys will not in love with at all Chris Carson I. Josh's above Chris Carson Aaron Jones right this guy did really good last year but the offense is a little different. They added a rookie running back that people love it Sti-. Severe Concerned about you know the regression there for Aaron Jones Todd. Gurley if you talked to some people, he's a top five running bag damn near. So. If he's if he's a top five running back to some people you know to me is not five he can he be productive you could have against season but I'm GonNa Take Josh. Acres had. A Leonard Fournette taking Dutch because the head of him He had a great season last year. But the team concerns me a little bit earlier they're going you know if they're going to continue to use him in such a flourishing way but he's a great example of a guy who had very little receptions. If he thought, you know this guy never going to be used as receiving threat and then shot through the roof on his receptions So folks there's a lot of room here. A lot of room for guys move around but for me Josh Jacobs definitely top ten potential It is not crazy to me at all. If you believe that he's top ten, you draft him top ten top fifteen is I lock. If you get him top fifteen range, you're you're winning you're winning for sure and if you're making a trade and you can get him for you know. Something less than something not so sure a couple of pieces you put together do it do it do not do not shy from training for Josh Jacobs Get Josh Jacobs in your lineups on your team's draft him trade for him whenever you have to do Josh Jacobs is getting clocked is your stamp of approval from me for a top ten potential top ten potential for sure top fifteen locked for sure. That's where I'm Outta. Josh. Jacobs and the variables for me are just you know if we start to consider potential injuries, Cova did all these things it gets a little sketchy U concern. You could do this every guy you would every player. But just on the surface hundred percent healthy. I'm feeling top ten potential here, and that's how I'm drafted him I. Guess that's it. For today's episode, we're going to do more of these. We can do these different ways. We can just you guys you know that that that we want to focus on or we can take polls on twitter we can take suggestions from listeners. It's bubbling a lot in the streets and the twitter streets in the your family out there. So we wanted to make sure we. Talked about him today I wanted to make sure I got him out. You know as the first player in in this profile and and we'll see how these episodes go moving forward. This one you know I it was over thirty minutes. future episodes may not be that way we'll. "NPR Josh Jacobs was be ranked twenty one. All these running backs? So there's no way he goes less than that for me. Okay. Now you're saying well at twenty one that really doesn't bode so great like that's not that awesome I mean almost the twenty is good but it's not what you're looking for Josh goes I agree with you I believe do better than that where he landed last year if we just say you have to look at everybody. When we're looking at Alex here, we have to say this guy's GonNa play a full season. We can't mess around and say, well, what if he doesn't stay healthy like I can't look at it that way it just doesn't work for me. So I'M GONNA assume Josh Jacobs is healthy if I just assumed Josh Jacob is healthy he he bumps up this list dramatically just off of the extra three green three games. So. Just the extra three games. He's easily for me top fifteen. If we say. Plays complete season so that for that for just off of last year's production, no nothing increase in just lashes production a production and a full slate of games. He's easily top fifteen running back for me now takes them out of the top twenty one right that's a big jump. Now, I do believe if you've seen reports, Josh Jacobs is focused on his running his his pass catching ability this year he has mentioned himself. He has mentioned that he was you know pretty happy with his results on running the ball, but he wants to score more touchdowns that way but. Pass catching his where he wants to improve the most this year he's been working on a ton and he's not doing it for nothing right? Like he knows this is an part of his game, the raiders no, it needs to be important part of his game and for those who hate coachspeak Jon Gruden himself said that he fell Josh Baker Shiben rookie of the year. that. They're gonNA feed him the ball a crazy I know allow people hate coachspeak. They cringe just here in the word coachspeak but I don't like to totally ignore coachspeak There's positive coaching negative coachspeak some of it comes true. Some of it doesn't these guys are drinking the Kool aid of their players they're just talking to in some people's minds as that's fine. But. I do believe Josh Jacobs No. He knows he needs to improve as pass kitchen back the raiders no they need to get him involved more pass kitchen back I understand you guys, I. Understand people want to see a Theo riddick they wanna see a devante booker they wanna see a Jalen restart who's been there already right Jalen restart is cool but he's been there. So we're not there's no reason to expect Jalen Shar to steal the opportunity of more pass catching ability for for Josh because when he's already been there so. He's already been there Indiana Washington's gone, he was running back there last year. So so when you take those away their. Jailer himself isn't a threat to Josh. J. Goes in in a capacity of reception's not to mention Josh doesn't need a ton of more receptions to make this matter dramatically So there there's a very I would project Josh Jacobs to be a top ten running back Here's the thing when you look at rankings, it's easy to put a lot of guys in the top ten or top fifteen. There's a lot of good running backs if things played out well for everybody, how how would you know love for it to work? There's a lot of really good running backs whether they all say healthy whether covert affects seems dramatically you know. All these things matter how bad their offense is ended up being but like the the running backs really good. There's a lot of really good right back. There's a lot of fun and exciting guys especially when you include PR, which is the only way I play I don't understand another life away of life and fantasy football You could really move guys around heavily in in the in the running back rank we discuss on the podcasts generally speaking in with wire receiver this year where you get a guy, you know barely in the thirty range and then you could also pointed out town like there's a scenario that plays out that way So Yeah Josh? Jacobs. For me definitely has the potential a top ten running back tough fifteen is is a lock to give in for me. So this hopefully, this helps you guys understand where I feel about him and hopefully helps you project yourself where if you don't have him yet, you're GonNa you know you're thinking about drafting him or you're thinking about trading for him I would definitely checking what the Josh Jacobs owner to see how he feels about. You know he might not be that high out of he might believe that you know Lynn. Bowden, is really gonNA. EAT INTO Josh Jacobs a pass catching ability. He might really believe Dante Booker Devante booker theoretic already threat They may believe that if they believe that definitely, go get him definitely go get him if you are in a redraft league. He's definitely worth drafted. It just depends on how much someone else's in. Love with him right now you know unless you got a raider fan in your league or someone who's really high on Josh Jacobs you know he's not going to be terribly hard to get an okay value. Again. It just depends on how much you like other people around him other players around him But yeah, I feel Josh Jacobs. No question has topped tenability Ligon. Definitely. End Up in that range. He's a lock for top fifteen. No questions about it. There's guys who you know. You could be projected to be top ten right now. And I mean you. You know everyone's rampant of Clyde Edwards, Hilar-. Right? I mean Josh. Jacobs did it already so we'll see what? He can do in that offense and who's in a you know who's in a mess with him there you've got guys like mile. Sanders are projecting really high..
"It's hard to get excited about rookies right now for me totally excited I it's hard to totally totally buy in because again, this is a weird off season I don't WanNa get too bought into guys for this season now. You know going forward sure I hear really excited about guys and there are certain running backs, certain wide receivers that I'm like you know these guys are GonNa be a focal point of their offense now they're. Highlighted. A great deal They're super talented. Even again, I just talked about the receivers excited about them But again, we had to temper these things with the idea of what's happened right now in the world and how how much these guys are truly getting to work together Berlin bound junior definitely presents again. An interesting dynamic however, I still don't believe that Lynn bound junior is going to be you know the end all be all in this backfield a he's getting moved everywhere. The raiders have said it. He will be all over the place. So they're not gonNA limit him to pass catching out of the backfield. This can move to the slot. He can move to Ottawa receiver. He could. He could use some quarterback You know wildcat type stuff. If you will I mean look at his highlights look at his stats he's a Jack of all trays. He is your you know prototypical you know image of when you say this guy could do a little bit of. Everything. Really good. That's you're talking about you're talking about inbound junior is just a offensive machine. They're not gonNA limit him to pass catching out of the backfield but he will he will matter there. So I'm not gonNA deny the facts that he matters the last the last guy, and it's the guy I talked about the so far in this episode is Jalen resort. If, you look at Jaylen Rashard. Last, year alone he had. For just again, I'm looking at receiving because this is what everyone's concern is with the raiders in Josh goes he had thirty six receptions last year the year prior he had sixty eight. So even see a dip and Jalen Machar's receptions and the raiders knew he could do it. The raiders knew he could receive. at least eighty, one, target, Sixty, eight, receptions, six, hundred, and seven yards. He had no receiving touchdowns out again this is just kind of a thing that the raiders haven't been that good at even when they are able to get a lot of receptions out of a guy and a Lotta yards out of a guy, they still have suffered scoring touchdowns and this is an issue they had last year in general the team So let let's talk about the outlook really quick and how I project this season to be I'm not going to talk about from e we resiliency perspective I like Josh Jacobs But I'm more WANNA focus on redrafting this point Gillette's about twenty twenty So we got an let's take everything together and I like to include other variables. I'm not just going to pull data and stats I'm not just GonNa pull from what I've watched. You know how how he performed on film or an investment But. Let's talk about everything. So again. From the outside variables that we cannot track. New, city new. Stadium. Three years in the same offense. Same quarter now, three years two years quarterback returning quarterback. Returning coaches, everything's return in in a new hyped up arena new hyped up city a new story to tell and to and to start right a new book to start that matters to me. So. That's all excited. That's all exciting stuff. Diani Washington is gone who was the one that was eating most into Josh Jacobs carries carries if you will so whenever they would spill Josh Jacobs, they would bring the Washington for the most part that he has gone. That has to be replaced at the lease. This is where I think devante booker comes in. This is where Jay Rashard may get more attempts although I don't know if they totally believe that right and that's why there's a Lotta guys being signed here. Let's not forget the one thing I haven't really spoken about have kinda mentioned it is. This is the covert era radio with this weird type of season or washing other sports unfold right now and some of them in in you know smaller groups have been able to pretty much control a lot of things but not not entirely I'm an Orlando Magic Fan while the bubble has been fantastic by the NBA and we talked about this other podcast episodes There have been players who have left the bubble even Orlando who don't. You know whether it was co vague whether is something else and they were to turn that it was covert related. There's been a mystery illnesses and weird stuff for players for a couple of days come back or leave for a week come back or who knows what right In baseball, it's been crazy mess There's been teams played for you know forever, there's some teams who played a bunch of games is you know it's all over the place The NFL's GonNa be Weird. We don't know how this is going to play out. The NFL has really big teams really big staffs. The travel on a ton they didn't isolate this to one place. So one CD, one St, whatever it's going to be pretty a lot of moving parts. So. Pretending like this. This whole NFL season is gonNA play out how he would love for it to play out is is is being super super You know wishful thinking if you will. Teams are signing a lot of guys and trying out other guys because they need a backup plan when things get weird. If Josh Jacobs comes down with Cova. The raiders need running backs the raiders need running backs to replace Josh Jacobs nobody they sign is going to replace Josh Jake necessarily. But they needed devante booker there to try to carry the load because Jalen Rashard is not going to get all the carries. They need a theoretic there to help with pass catching in case things get weird. That's what this is about when teams are signing these extra quarterbacks extra receivers who's actually running backs. Or linebackers, and they're like bringing is in and out they're not always signing is they're trying to project out for themselves and protect their team. In case, a player has to leave for covid out remind yourself that if Josh Jacobs should say, I, don't put this on he religious say Josh Jacobs. Got Covid. That whole. Running back from who knows what happens to it who knows that they all get it who knows if one other guy gets it like you can't just start losing players the cavaliers dropping like flies in the NFL and not having an alternate option there. So That's part of the reason why received so many guys come in and sign and then leave after a week or you know trying out so many guys you're trying to get familiar with players as well for Kobe. Otherwise I truly believe that Again in this case. Josh Jacobs for me just outlook wise I. believe he will not have a worse season than he did. So for anyone who believes he'll be worse than he was last season I disagree last season.
"Host of the clock dodgers podcast, and we wanted to bring you something different today for clock dodgers podcast. We're going to add this to the arsenal of other things we do besides our interviews with guests besides our our discussion than conversations and debates with each other I wanted to create these episodes that standalone on themselves. They're somewhat of a player profiler player projection player. Outlook however, you want to however you WanNa take you basically and what we'll do is we'll chop up a player each week and we'll do how they fared last year what's changed for this upcoming season and how we kind of project them out what I want to do with I want to start with a player who I don't WanNa? Say Divisive. But he's a player who's kind of but it's been questioned been had had a high expectation put on him and at the same time you don't feel like you'll hit those expectations and has Josh Jacobs He's talked about just as much this off season as he was last season when he was drafted as a rookie for the. Raiders at the time now, the Las Vegas raters which will we'll get into because I. believe variables matter that even are the ones that cannot be quantified or put into a data spreadsheet. I believe they do matter, and you know that's part of the difference here. I know not a lot of policies or the data analytics group agree or like. To bring those kinds of things into the equation when they can't really put it on a spreadsheet respect that at school is just not how I do things when I'm when I'm breaking down players kind of project mouth. So just Jacobs talk about really quick what he did last year to kind of create a foundation here Josh Jacobs last season had. One thousand one hundred fifty rushing yards almost five yard average four point eight to be accurate and seven touchdowns came out to he only played thirteen games last season due to injuries, and so we got this guy who you know he did pretty good right He was a rookie running back. So just from a perspective of how people felt the they they they were impressed with what he did but at the same time, a lot of people of other was underwhelming offer. Some people a kind of began that began to confirm AK. This is why you don't draft running backs in the first round they don't last that long. So they are valued doesn't carry very well, and then when you consider if they have under woman seasons or have injuries or anything like that, like, was he a difference maker to your team? How how how do you feel about that? If you washed Oakland's games last year if you wash the raiders games last year, you know Josh Jacobs was the difference maker was very, very apparent that he chains at entire offense and in terms of teams have to respect the backfield and as having a running back who could actually be productive actually a yards every time he touches the ball actually be a monster, right? So if you watch the game. And I. Know some people don't like to look at Games. Exactly. How players play they look at the numbers if you watch Josh Akers play, you know he's a talented writer back. There is no question about it right now what comes in you know for again for last year the raiders did not do so well as a team you know their. Record wasn't well, they didn't make the playoffs they dealt with injuries across the board You know most feel that just over all it wasn't a great season for Oakland. It wasn't a way for the team to to leave the city of Oakland. So I'm sure they didn't feel great about that Josh, Jacobs if you just look at him. By himself right. Seven touchdowns. That's a decent amount of touchdowns are running back in the season. He had good average. Know some don't care so much about an average for know per carry but he he had a pretty good one. You went over a thousand yards, which is always nice and any I like to mention that you know he played. Thirteen games last year. Now, what people are going to you know the main, the main concern that analysts hidden that fans hit with with Jacobs's he didn't catch the ball he didn't catch the ball enough He had twenty receptions last year for only one, hundred, sixty, six yards, zero touchdowns. So he hears this this is your major sticking point for Josh Jacobs. Most people believe in Josh Jacobs talent at the he's not too shabby. They liked team that he's on because they feel like you know he is the workhorse but then to put him in a category where I would like to see him for most Franken's they feel like, where's the receiving stats an elite back who especially PR scorn one of the elite backs where he's being drafted ADP you want a guy who can catch the Ball, and clearly the numbers dictate that he didn't catch the ball out last year and you know he didn't scoring touchdowns doing. So there wasn't a lot of yards there, and so it left a lot to be desired for Josh Jacobs as receiver out of the backfield. No question about it nobody would argue that nobody would disagree with that. The rookie had a tough. Time catching the ball whether again, a question of this being his fault. The team's fault is something for us to look at as far as how project out in what's changed and whatnot But I think for in my opinion for a rookie season, those are solid numbers If you watch the games, you know he's talented if you wash the games and you look. At the numbers here you know he's the workhorse back for Oakland So so last year pretty good not too bad of a rookie year Jon, gruden fell he should have rookie of the year I mean, that's how well he played for the raiders and of course I know it's his coach and everything but it it is true. He did really good for the raiders. Now. Okay we know what he's done. Right we know who he was. We know how he produced. We know what the the glaring witness was, which was the receiving. Let's talk about what's changed for Josh Jacobs. Just in this upcoming season alone we have the team move into Las Vegas. Again, a variable that I do not ignore because I do believe news new stadium, right monstrous stadium new, aura about yourselves, new city to represent in new fans other than the old fans are gone but you now you do add Las Vegas fans just is what is new fans a new place a new story line everything is new here everything is fresh. Fresh new locker room. You got all these leak in toilets and all this crap. You feel good when you walk into work everyday and that does matter anyone who's listening right now says where they walk into work everyday doesn't matter you're lying. So mental state definitely improved right now we got a guy second year in a system. The coaches have not changed So his second year system will get to further along his development in the system that matters. So now two years Jon Gruden, we have a new stadium new new city new energy His quarterback has stayed the same. That is important as well. His receivers have changed a lot a lot. The raiders for the most part last year did not have a wide receiver you cared about the much You just did it. There was just nothing there was very undesirable location for wide receivers last year. And this year they drafted Henry Rugs. they drafted Brian Edwards who if you're if you're paying any attention to training camp if you care at all about training camp if you care about the offseason talk, if you.
"josh jacobs" Discussed on Vegas Nation - Raiders Football
"It's interesting you know you talk about the move with the chargers and the rams and everything and I remember miles and I were at a game in Los Angeles with the chargers playing the raiders. And then you see this blimp flying overhead that has the scientists basically like Fu. You spanos arena. It didn't quite recall what it said but the words were not kind and you have to wonder like even talking about distractions like you for the players at a looking at this kind of stuff was the warming up and thinking. Wow these guys hate us. If only they would've put that kind of energy towards the vote rather than securing a blimp or whatever it was playing you know. Maybe they would have still had their team. I sorry about that but just to say it so when you look at over I mean. There's all kinds of things that can happen throughout the season obviously You know but I think right now for a lot of fans for the raiders have been in Los Angeles. This is kind of a good thing for them now. They're able to come a little bit closer to be able to see the raiders. Play in Las Vegas so I haven't heard quite as much backlash yet. I mean. Obviously there's going to be people who are in Oakland. Have still troubles dealing with the team? Come into Las Vegas. You know I don't see necessarily that there's GonNa be a hard transition that way. It's a it's Vegas as a destination city. I think a lot of people come to and there was a three year. Walk up to this show fans In in the bay area or or whoever was you know wanted them staying Oakland and are hurt but they're not had three years to absorb it in to deal with it and wrap their arms around it and and you know rectify Y You know as individuals whereas in Saint Louis was like boom. You're teams gone and see a letter. And and same thing in San Diego January twelfth twenty sixteen twenty seventeen. The chargers announced that they're moving and months later they're gone So that's a little bit different dynamic for those teams. Then is for the raiders who again had three years to say goodbye to Oakland and and And Yeah you're right. There's a lot of fans in Los Angeles and the southern California area that are going to support the raiders whether I season ticket holders. We've seen that. The numbers are pretty good in Los Angeles and Southern California For the season tickets same with Oakland moves. There's people that are remaining fans of the raiders. And they're gonNA make the trip to Las Vegas as you said. That's a great destination. Said we all know that So that certainly certainly helps. The San Diego thing was just weird because San Diego has always looked at or had a thing about Los Angeles. It's just it's not reverse like Los Angeles San Diego who doesn't WanNa go to San Diego with beaches everything it's a great city to go to whereas there's a thing with San Diego and Los Angeles so the charges probably couldn't have moved to a worst place if you're a San Diego Fan even though it's just a couple of hour drive but it's a place that people there's just this thing that goes on between San Diego and Los Angeles more from San Diego toward Los Angeles and so those fans just said nope not going to be a part of it and don't want to be a fan and and that's really hurt the charges loot seen that Whereas the raiders. I think are going to carry over a lot of Oakland fans. I would think I wouldn't WANNA be on. I fifteen on Sunday afternoons at like six o'clock. "Patriots. I Patriot dot com slash analytics dynasty. Where I do more like book centric work. I would say like it's more. It's all audio stuff. Most of its audio stuff. But I have like I don't have I don't have rankings per se because I think they're tough to they don't exactly convey what I'm trying to convey so I have something I call my dynasty tears which looks at players and groupings and looks players in different inaudible different of contexts to try and identify value on them. So you can find all that at my patriots side as well. Gotcha Yeah Adam Jokes here that I'm not much of a reader so maybe he should make an audio book to man so I didn't on that action I it's funny people have said that to me. They're like you should do an audio book. And I like I saw the actual editing process for the book is me sitting in a room with my editor and reading it aloud and I swear at like it's the worst thing that it's it's horrible like it's a horribly it's I mean I trust him and he's not like he's getting embarrassed me or anything but it is the most humiliating thing to have to read it out loud like. I'm horrible reading out loud so no one wants to listen to me. They were joking that I should get Morgan. Freeman into outside the That's hilarious you. Never know maybe for next year just an idea. Just floating out there I I think you know just answering those questions. Kinda Kinda give people an idea of what? You're doing the content. You're doing your you know the way you approached this stuff. Josh Inaugural Josh. A little more specific. I think he had a few questions about some of the stuff that you do specifically with the book in the end the podcasts whatnot but All at Josh into that. And then we'll go into some of the other segments. Do here on the podcast. So Josh Okay. Okay so the first thing I wanted to ask was is your. Your primary thing is warped. Right wins over. Replacement player is in the. When I I wrote the book I was interested in like. There's so many ways that you can look at identifying players and but I wanted like at one general currency so like a a running back. Twenty-three finish in a wide receiver. Twenty-three finish does things are different in terms of how we should think about them in the value of them. So I did create warped and I look at a lot of it through that. Lens like my a lot of the roster construction a lot of those things it is. It is based on warp which is wins over replacement player. And it just tells you how many how many wins a player will add over the replacement players during the first Thirteen weeks through the regular season of fantasy football. And then I have a I guess. A related thing which is called a warp which is war but factors in the the starter rate of players During the season and it gives you a little bit more indication of like the true value and however players like truly helping you During the season yeah. I think that's really interesting. So one thing I wanted to ask about war while there's do players maintain a war over a long period of time or is it just up and down year to year to year. Yeah I think it's positionally it's a little bit different and so like one thing that I think is is like pretty interesting in terms of consistency. Is I think. Kinda what you're getting at is consistent. Players are your ear And what you'll see is like receivers for example like the high end guys like they'll be consistent year-over-year Mike Evans or like Jarvis Landry. Those guys are almost plug and play like top. Twenty four receivers Almost at worst at this point in their career They have been at least. And but you'll see a lot of fluctuation week to week just because inherently the wide receiver position is a highly is highly influx Just because of targets and touchdown rate and all the things that go into scoring. It's just it's a high amount of volatility. Weak the weak so those guys have a lot of I would say generally consistent. You're every year but you'll see flood fluctuation week-to-week Running backs it's you. Tend to get the like the part of this draft. That's really compelling to me is you'RE GONNA get guys at like twenty one years old that are coming in that are going to be not necessarily round one. Maybe you'll one that'll sneak in around one but you're going to get multiple cracks in round two of the NFL draft at guys that are going to that. Data can be twenty one year old rookies with really good profiles in like the war. The warp implications of those especially in the rookie draft context is just pretty massive in terms. Of what you can do in fantasy so yeah I mean it. The different positions have different tracks in terms of warp. It it'll fluctuate ear but But yeah I mean like there will be different. I guess I would say a different age curb in terms of how players or increase or anything like that by position. Okay that's that makes sense to me then. So you touched on this already but a base rate is is that sort of like a player's chance of hitting exactly what it is and it's based on so. I talk in the book about like the base rate of a player and I wanted to know like in the first book I looked a lot like. Hey you know. Wide Receiver third-round wide receiver like twenty three percent of the time I think is what the number is and so I wanted to know like all right well so it was like the first book that I wrote and then as I started thinking about it more I said well what as as we a year goes by without them hitting. What's that mean are how does how does that rate moves And then you know two years go by three years go by so you sort of look at those and it will sort of it'll change. It'll obviously go down The more time that goes by without hitting your your base rate or your hit rate goes down And it but the fascinating part is that it's different by position it's really different by pedigree so you'll see different positions and indifferent and different NFL draft pedigrees will will change how players perform. Okay so I gotta I gotta ask says if a player goes deep into their career before they finally hit does that. What's the density of that hit? Yeah so the funny part is like there's not a ton of like there's not a ton of guys that hit outside of your five devante Parker's yeah so devante. Parker is a fascinating one like devante. Parker is the first wide receiver and I went back to two thousand so the first the first wide receiver this century that was drafted in the first round the NFL draft. That missed the first four years of his career and then hit near five. It's the first time that's ever happened. you've seen a couple of guys do that in your four And so you'll see guys that missed the first three years and hitting your four. Those guys were historically Peter. Work Michael Crabtree. But after year three first round wide receivers don't hit that often right there spent. I think three them. Now that have done it So that's a really like that's a pretty cautionary tale book is like You know Mike Williams or Corey Davis or Like we'll fuller those types of guys. It's pretty cautionary about about what Sir track might be in their career. But we don't have a ton of sample and you'll see like there'll be a massive out like for example. Alex Smith like hitting. Your thirteen was the first time he hit For a season. So you don't really see a ton of hits outside of like initial hits outside. Lick your five But yeah they just have lesser time to be dance six years and you hit you just have lesser opportunity. Be Dense than guys that hit at twenty one twenty two years old. Okay for May that clears up like what your work is quite a bit. Yeah we just created the audiobook. Congratulations right now. We just audio book recording on you. Buddy we'll be producing that for you next year now like that. Sorry as cool so like I said I mean it just kind of gives you the background because there's a lot that goes into your work you know you got the book. You got the podcast. I feel like it's always fair that when the guests comes on some people just jumped straight into things and I think it's important for the guests to kind of you know understand their work where they're coming from where they're where they're creating value at so she's a point. That's why you know felt you know it was good to go over all that kind of stuff with you. What we're GONNA do now is we're going to jump into some of the The normal segment that we do on the show. The first one is trust issues For anyone WHO's not familiar with trust issues basically We have players or situations or You know kind of multiple choice things here of things that are going on our players that are going on and I'm going to just see how much we trust the situation. Basically so if you trust it a lot you know. There's no trust issues if you're concerned about it. You don't feel great about something. You KINDA WANNA back off of and there's just trust issues with it. so The first one we have here is Super Athletic College under producers drafted in the second round becoming a wide receiver one We're looking at guys like term McLaren. Deebo SAMUEL WE'LL Jordan start. You know you have trust issues with guys like these or do you. Trust THEM. Generally speaking so pedigree. Nfl draft pedigree. Such a huge deal in terms of looking at looking at wide receivers in particular. Like so you have to be really really selective day. Two guys And you know you'll you'll see about twenty five percent of them will hit But you have to be really you don't want to be in on a lot of these guys typically And so as a rule I almost fade them until they et Just because just because the hit rates are so low once they once they. It's a little bit different in terms of how I treat them But yeah guys like Terry maclaurin. I think you can sell I think you can kind of sell him Pretty I think you could sell him high at this point right now. I don't. I don't love the the long-term profile Deebo Samuel similarly situated. I mean he's He would be a player that I would probably be willing to move on. I didn't love the profile coming in as a twenty three year old rookie so You know I would probably be willing to to you. Know if you're getting twenty four. Adp Return on. That would be born to move off of that right now as interesting. I know the guys here are big fans of both those guys And Josh specifically we depot right Josh. So how'd you feel about what you were just with diva? It hurts me a little bit. I guess I guess it goes to the conversation about how much year one. Nfl production matters yet. So here's if there was if I was going to sort of go the flip side of that has sort of arguing against myself If you if there's a wide receiver on day two that has day to the NFL draft around to around three that produces a wide receiver. Three finish so between wide receiver twenty-five wide receiver thirty six and their rookie year. Historically they have one hundred percent hit rate of producing a top twenty four season at some point later in their career. So guys like guys like deebo would check that box terry. Maclaurin except box Sodas decay metcalf and so I think if you sort of were to take the opposite end of that like I think. That's a pretty good. The sample sizes huge. But I think that would be the You know where I would look to say..
Raiders rally to beat Chargers 26-24
"The raiders have won two games in five days of a score late fourth quarter touchdown to beat the Chargers twenty six twenty four Derek Carr was twenty one of thirty one for two hundred eighteen yards and a touchdown rookie Josh Jacobs had seventy one yards rushing on sixteen carries including the game winning eighteen yard touchdown safety Eric Harris had two interceptions the second of which was a fifty six yard return for a score of things was struggling in the first but you know they they they made account when you need it soon and you know credit to those guys for applying pressure and put us in a in a situation and again to close out the game for the Chargers Philip rivers was seventeen of thirty one for two hundred seven yards throwing two touchdowns and two interceptions Melvin Gordon the third at a hundred yards rushing and a TD Riley on Oakland
NFL Week 8 Monday Night Football Betting Picks: Miami Dolphins at Pittsburgh Steelers
"Welcome in to the the board podcast powered by Fox bet week eight Monday night football edition dolphins steelers y'all are pretty excited for which would be a barn burner of a football game I'm your host firm joined by my colleague coast the one the only pain insider lots of enthusiasm I'm trying pain I'm not a premature whistle blower like we saw in Nashville but I still haven't positive mindsets get this thing going believe it you can achieve it and it wasn't the results were looking for either the college or professional football rain six but we persevere we continue to plow ahead and no we have a long season left in front of us so as we do every Monday we'll start the good the bad and the ugly we of course Dr Chow waiting in the wings to break down what the JJ watt injury means for the Houston Texans and he'll update us and some of our favorite quarterbacks the pain. Let's go glass half full what did you see this weekend that had you excited and brimming with optimism where do we start so much Scott the forty niners because I always leave things are more impressive when prior to the game it's not supposed to look that way so we a significant professional money come in on Carolina so it makes the win even more impressive to me personally because I just feel like they exceeded expectation and I managed and I think we both did here right to avoid this game now we dead value is certainly on Carolina like numbers wise right when you look at the number got six six and a half earlier in the week like Mason Rudolph was catching that same number in his first start ever on the road so value is I get it but I think we talked Thursday which is like a horrific matchup right Carolina doesn't have left tackle Bosa continues to like full-blown just eat out there I think he's got the highest pressure rate he's on pace to set the highest pressure rate for any rookie in NFL history right now kyle kind of talked about this the one above it average pass defense he played he struggled against earlier in the season which was Jacksonville the forty niners would obviously be even tougher than that he was the most inaccurate quarterback in terms of completion percentage expectation of sixteen percent below expectations the worst so far this week and we saw that at there wasn't very good can't stop the run we talked about that Cohen Short once he went out for the season and there was a big check mark there offensively from what I'm what I'm seeing from the forty niners is is Kyle Shanahan is just ahead of his time with what he's doing even though it's very basic right it's I think he's in this concerts jokingly kind of the real inventor of the exotic smashmouth right the ball is just like spread around there's all these interchangeable parts wide receivers are getting handoffs but like at its core it's very simple offense and I think the scary part here todd is like you look or seven and no right now in the NFC but they're without their left tackle there without the right tackle there without their versatile full-back call us check and I think I could wrong about this and it's probably not worth the money was paid but I feel like Jimmy G. has another gear that we haven't seen yet either which makes this forty-nine seem really scary well and I think some of that's got to be by design if you're Kyle Shanahan why reveal all your cards when you don't have to right now and then there's no doubt that Jimmy G. High profile passing attack is somewhere there I imagine as they can can you to build chemistry with Emmanuel Sanders able to get into the end zone and his forty niners debut it makes his team even scarier and I know pain we don't talk a lot about futures here because guys don't have access turn prices and you Never WanNa do hyperbole but right now when you look at the NFC or the forty niners the team to beat the more complete package outside of experience levels than the New Orleans saints tough to you obviously love with the saints are doing especially defensively that front seven has really taken another step I do feel like whoever gets home field advantage because the saints home field advantage so massive you'd give the you'd leaned that way with ever team had home field advantage certainly the games get a little bit tougher here in the next few weeks off for the forty niners so we'll see what they're made of but man ah X. still kind of leaned saints especially if they were the team that got home field advantage going to be interesting NFC playoff picture definitely a number of teams on their best day more than capable of putting up crooked numbers and more importantly getting stops on the defensive side but aside from the forty niners pain or are there any other teams and our individual performances that really stood out to you Daniel Jones right if you're a giants fan you have to pretty encouraged in whether you could've met seventeen or six I mean that's it's kind of a relevant at this point you know and I liked I saw accuracy wise again delivered a completion percentage five and a half percent greater than expectations four touchdowns no picks and I think that that last part there with the no picks is really impressive when you look at how aggressive he was six most aggressive quarterback in week eight so far obviously two games tonight but of all the quarterbacks that have played so far six most aggressive and the other thing is when you look at how he's doing it right now in general young quarterback he's been pressured a shit ton right forty six percent of its drawbacks pressured on the season most in the NFL among qualifying quarterbacks and he's this young young he hasn't flinched yet so I I really like I think you have to be happy for your giants fan of what the future could be with Daniel Jones so fantastic performance although in a loss did did get back door there so I know a lot of giants backers were happy that was the sharp side again closed five and a half some places so Daniel Jones got the pros money and look good again that he did one ill advised throw cost him dearly early in the game came back up the fumble yeah it was the fumble that probably could have gone I mean you it's a turnover no matter how you slice it but interception fumble just not sure he's doing it to throw but for anybody to watch that game was interesting there was a bad penalty at the tail end of the first half where the giants allegedly rough the ultimate leads the three for the lions and changed the dynamic a little bit in that context wonder if the giants would have actually had a chance to win that game outright if things had played differently but for alliance do nothing but bad luck I guess they wrote a break or two in that extra appointments made things a little wonky to some of the decision making it the nail to me how to chase a two and it's one of those things where you just start chasing points and you open that Pandora's box and if you don't convert things continue to create that downward spiral but a good performance from Daniel Jones you mentioned his second career game over three hundred yards four touchdowns then a nice job against a depleted lions secondary with the good I want to add one other into it of course it was in a losing effort Mike Evans yet again puts up Gargantuan numbers eleven catches hundred ninety eight yards and two touchdowns but one of those things that I'm not quite sure why the bucks don't look for Evans and crunch time when he was the stat stuffer all game long and the titans apparently had no answer in their secondary starting to get doubled a little bit dried movement of the slot to get them open and got doubled again so you know he had forty four percent of the buccaneers area are gesture die but obviously not enough however no you want to praise him and you probably didn't turn on the game quick enough but he did have the bad drop on the opening drive in the end zone the bucks were forced to settle for three instead of seven I did I did see that drop bring it up I do want to ask you about that when you throw through a little bit of congestion I know Matt Melons in your hands catch the ball all right so I wanted to find out so you your opinion is now well documented around Mike Evans if you're going to be elite God damn elite all right so that that's where I'm going with it was just really annoying game not going to complain right side wrong result and you go into halftime with the two hundred fifteen yards seventy one yard edge you trail that's a problem and then I thought we were gold right you fight your way back you blow you get up six late in the third quarter and then you know you hope officials can do their job good for Devon white by the way rookie did a fantastic job there sniff out fake laid to feel them out it was like a WWF and I believe they're wwe now but I'm old so wwf like a clothesline he just sent the snapper into orbit there in the all clearly comes out its return for a touchdown of course they blow their whistle so you can't you can't review it and it was a turnover on downs anyways because it was fourth down so said of a seven air when bucks up three with under Ford ago we were still down four in the problem is that you know you're not gonna your situation where it's four down territory or not kicking field goal to cover the spread for the good guys chase kicked to feel go forty eight yarder right through the UPRIGHTS two minutes to go get outta dodge with a one point loss single text bruce and eh lepers no team bet the board it's all about covering the number not winning games outraged good guy might have done it now if the good come the bad and this one is tough for me to kind of put down pain because I think they were very good for three quarters but it's the kind of game that you have to win on the road you're at the tail end of it's been a mammoth road trip the Oakland raiders finishing the game against Houston Texans were nearly two yards per play better as far as net is concerned and you look they did give up some penalty yards and everything else they had the football a lot less but they had an excellent chance to win the game on the road they outscored in the fourth quarter and to Shawn Watts and make some let real place to get the Texans the outright victory Deshaun Watson in Hopkins it's like the Russell Wilson Lockwood combination those two geysers like carrying goddamn franchise right now because Bill Brian is just continues to be a mess anyways I hate being singular play guy but you're one and you have a chance to kind of I don't WanNa say ice the game with your offense but certainly go up eight or if you decided to be a savage go for the to to put it up nine and there is a plan like second and six from the Houston twenty four in Gruden calls a run play and you'll lose a yard and now you're backed up to third wall and then you Veasley incomplete there and and you settle for a field goal only go for I love Josh Jacobs but the Texans Defense is superior against the run than it is pass in the Texans secondary isn't link absolute shambles with injuries right and they were down another starter who got injured in the game and as an offense you got tyrone Williams back and Jones who you trade four finally like kind of got into the fold now that he understands the offense after you were healthy as you've been at receiver like virtually all season attack the weakness man put it in the air instead then do that in that one specific drive could've put him up potentially two scores if they'd went for two and you rely on your defense against Watson and you got burn so to me there is some some mismanagement there was some playcalling late in that game as you kind of alluded to but they did blow sure well you mentioned mismanagement pain and it's funny you use such a word choice where do we want to go to Chicago bears and how they handled their performance against the chargers so I didn't watch the game because I couldn't dedicate enough time to it I'm GonNa go back and actually watch today it's one of those games that was really intriguing to me because guys that uh yeah I work with love the charger so much and they with the chargers plus four and a half and plus four I didn't see it so when there's games that's where my guys like adamant that this is the side and I don't see it myself on my I gotTa really pay close attention to this and because I have add I can't do that with like watching games so two one on and watch today but as I'm like tracking the play by play and now that I'm like looking at the data we just download it charges were not decide and we had this debate all week long and you may see something different but the charges were not decide but I'll let you share what you saw from the data I mean I'm just looking at just like two hundred and thirty one total yards of offense in the year two thousand nineteen on the road and you're only getting what would have been like three point two closing number I don it doesn't look like just by all the data that that was the right side
AB reacts to fines from Raiders, has new helmet
"We have to address a couple more here. We're gonna start in with exactly what is going on in oakland oakland with antonio brown's so many things have happened. It's hard to keep track of and hard knocks being there to help the situation for the raiders in dealing with their star wide receiver and the various antics surrounding him the helmet issue has been well documented for some time for those who don't know antonio browns helmet that he has used his entire career was deemed illegal by the n._f._l. It wasn't safe enough for antonio so he decided to filed a suit saying that he wasn't enough time to adequately find a helmet. He likes to wear for the games. He filed two different grievances. Both it did not fly with the n._f._l. And he lost both of them so he has had to find a helmet he has reported to camp the newest thing being he has has been fined by mike mayock general manager for missing so much time with the team. Antonio brown has stated how upset he is about these fines being levied on on him but frankly i love antonio brown's charisma. I love the way he uses the media to help him and you got to think about the raiders in with hard knocks with everything around their team right now media wise. There's a lot of scrutiny jon gruden being signed that ten year one hundred million dollar contract trading khalil mack trading amari cooper everyone in the n._f._l. Media is trying to keep tabs on what's going on in oakland and antonio brown by taking taking so much of that media heat. He has really made it easier for guys like p._j. Hall arden key cleveland feral jonathan abrams josh jacobs all these rookies and second year players that really have some potential have not had to deal with this media blitz because antonio has been there to kinda shield them from that and on that side i think that the raiders as an organization as a fan base need to thank antonio brown for taking that heat off of their other players so they can develop and really dig into the system not having to worry about media relations however now with this new grievance hopefully it's nothing between antonio brown and mike mayock. They can just move past. It's obvious that he had to get fined for missing so much time with the

"Citing about the bears general manager what he did traded, you Mitch Trubisky. I know people were were critical of giving all those picks to move up one to get Trubisky. But look when he identifies guy he goes gets them. Hey, I just wanna say as a TV show the with the strange without the strange disappearance, of course, which has very worried. I course. A relative or something to me. He's like he's one of those guys that I can't I always look forward. Oh in the fall. We're going to see on kalihi. Again. You know, it's like I I fear the day that I that I picked up my phone in the morning. I see push notification about Lee Lee, Corso broadcaster, former former college coach, and then I don't wanna hear about that. But anyway, the point is I I I thought was fascinating how much they have made this into a spectacle. And the thing the ABC show was trying to do wasn't really about Xs knows a football. It was about dreams. Come true. It was very Disney. It was like he's this idea that these guys I mean, there was one of these kids like grew up in the back seat of his dad's car, right? His dad is dad took custody of five kids and didn't have a home to live this kid went late in Josh Jacobs. Josh Jacobson, Alabama story. He he. He said, you know, he didn't have a bed until he went to college. Gosh, think about that. Yeah. Thank about. I agree. All the coverage was really really good. I enjoy spread out over three channels million people tuned in, and let's think about the two hundred thousand people that stood out there in the rain. Listen to a guy picks on a safe. We've been doing out there. But they're all out there. That is an Commissioner Roger Goodell. Kevin who's show is this? It's the row culture that. All right. Thank you. And what do I thank you for calling number fifteen. What do I have right now? Kevin Whiteside here for me, Lauren. What do I have right now for caller number fifteen even speak? I don't wanna get yelled at you have tickets to the White Sox game and to hang out with, you know, Kevin, right? You don't get those tickets, but you should write. We are all brought to difference at C H vodka car number fifteen three hundred ninety one seventy two hundred to nine hundred seventy two hundred by cork and Kerry before the game next Thursday night, meet Kevin and meet Laura and joined the parade is they go over to and Laura and you just Call Laura. Well, whatever. That was wrong. Rex lawrence. I agree. Staffers names rates. I I've belly that these people. The kevin. And the end sounds. That's the problem. The point here is you can go meet them. And then watch them parade you over to the stadium on Thursday night. And maybe an-and I'll be there when they get. We'll see what happens to all right right now chicken with Kim was coming up and may not be Christmas in July. But there will be lots of snow in late April seeing several new accidents right now, including on the northwest side on Addison, Iraq. Well, also, saying lengthy delays albums Stevenson out on the Eisenhower and on both sides of the Kennedy as well.

"Josh does that does that overwhelm you at any point in time? Not really because all my family that I'm close with. None of them at me for anything. Not even want me to do anything for them. My today. He don't eat tell me like you don't want me to do it on for him. He won't even let on for them. So I mean, if it's not a big of a burden as some people may think that said when you do get your first professional contract. What is the first thing you're going to buy for your dad? Josh have you thought about that? Honestly, don't know. Honestly don't know I'll probably on I'll probably pay his rent for a couple of years or something like that. Oh, no. So let's let's talk about Josh Jacobs here on on the rich Eisen show who have you met with which teams. Do you think are interested in you here? Josh a week out of the draft of I met. We the eagles are met with the ravens and I've met with the coats. Those are the three teams that you have met with like in terms of flown out doubt dinner, the whole the whole shebang. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. I mean, those are three teams that would you you'd fit you certainly would fit in. I just in reading about you to Josh you've been described as a runner who runs pissed off. Where do you think that comes from? I guess it just comes from being able to take everything that I'm going through in life out on the field without getting in trouble. It's kinda like also through your therapeutic me, so. And what's the most pissed off Nick saban's ever been at you? John..

"Don't know what he's a great sleep. Number of spokesman. He's Josh Jacobs here on the rich Eisen show. How are you? Josh. I'm doing good. Thanks. I haven't what's going through your temples right now week away from the NFL draft. Josh. On a soaking this whole process, honestly. What are you soak in? Just in the media side of and meeting with teams and just traveling and seeing a lot of things of is definitely huge. I'm in new New York right now doing a media tour. What's your guy? Jeff DEA in Jeff to d mother. Yeah. So the NFL network he's following me around. Jeff's following you right now, his Jefferson room right now is eating the roommate right now. Yeah. Will you tell him to back off that this is my moment. Josh, would you tell them just telling that right now from rich is he say don't take out a good come on. Just. Okay. So basically, the NFL network is watching you be interviewed by guy who who's been with the NFL network since day one. That's basically what's right now. He's a lot of NFL network. All right. So Josh, let's get into your your story here. Is it true that you had to post your own highlights to Twitter to get noticed by colleges that affect? Yes. That is. In fact, what? What what what led you to do that? So a random guy that takes his name of cozy Smith he hit me up. And he's like he's stumbled upon a highlight or whatever. And he's like, I don't understand why you're not getting credit, but you should make a Twitter and push knowledge is like I'm gonna help you get recruited and then like two or three days later. I was getting calls from my ten different teams or media outlets and stuff. So it was great. So that's a under your current handle of IM underscore, Josh Jacobs..
